- 0:00Being a Hassid, on page 341 we said you think a Hassid is an
- 0:05external appearance to a certain mindset or even extreme service
- 0:11or that that's if he lies extreme and it's full of
- 0:15coaching and energy and spending a lot of time.
- 0:18That's what you think of a Hassid is a Hassid when it comes
- 0:21to 1 friend to another, one Jew to another.
- 0:24So it means basically going over the top and above and beyond,
- 0:28and this example is about to bring is when it comes to
- 0:31financial help being generous. This is a major item and a
- 0:35major, in my opinion, very important indicator of what kind
- 0:40of Jew a person is regarding how generous he is when it comes to
- 0:45specific money. But even other areas as well,
- 0:48there's certain type that's tight, by the way.
- 0:52Obviously we're talking about it.
- 0:53The person has the means. There's a burnt type, it's
- 0:56tight, which means they make calculate everything and
- 1:00sometimes over calculate and they find ways some of the taxes
- 1:05to, you know, OK, according to this angle, according to this
- 1:08calculation, I did my duty, I gave enough.
- 1:10I'm good. I don't know.
- 1:12I, I can't, you know, give to that one and that one, it
- 1:14doesn't fit into my number. I know someone randomly sees me.
- 1:17It wasn't part of my plan. I'm not going to give them
- 1:19another $20. And they're very limited, very
- 1:22exact, reorganized often, but at the same time not so free and
- 1:29loose and generosity. That's the words inside.
- 1:32I'm talking about mamon. The mamon when it comes to being
- 1:39a hassid of money, they say you're cashier bashet.
- 1:44A sigador would be generous and help a person with the means
- 1:50that you have and to financially assisted person and to help him
- 1:56avoid financial damage as well. In other words, you you're with
- 1:58another person worrying about his finances 'cause who call me
- 2:02in azakin. In a similar vein, my concern
- 2:08for other people having money makes me not interested in
- 2:12harming another guy financially. Makes me feel bad if I'm not
- 2:16paying him properly. Makes me, you know, think about
- 2:19does he have enough money to live?
- 2:21It's all part of my concern and my hasidut toward other people
- 2:25financially. Either it means I give or I mean
- 2:28at least I don't take away, at least I'm happy for them to
- 2:31have. It's all part of the same mental
- 2:34approach toward caring about other people and specifically in
- 2:37this area, being a haseeb with someone's finances.
- 2:40I give you an example of a guy is struggling and he comes to
- 2:43talk to you. If you care, and you're sure
- 2:45that you care, that means you have a certain sense of feeling
- 2:49toward other people's financial state.
- 2:51You not only worry about the physical well-being or stuff
- 2:53like that, you worry about the whole picture.
- 2:55And we all know a person's financial well-being is really
- 2:59part of the part of their functionality and it makes a big
- 3:02difference toward how much they can live in this world.
- 3:06And if you care, that means you care about people.
- 3:09And if you don't care, it means you care a drop less about
- 3:12people. So being a CASI toward others
- 3:14also means not only specifically caring about the physical
- 3:17well-being, also being conscious and worrying about the mental.
- 3:20Well, Ben Lee Ahid, Ben Lee Rabin, whether it be for an
- 3:24individual or for the community, you have a guy who's trying to
- 3:28help out the community financially.
- 3:30That guy cares. And the about about now it's
- 3:34eight months ago or so, someone can come approach me and said he
- 3:38had a very tough background going up as a kid.
- 3:41Thank God right now I shall bless them.
- 3:44And he approached me and said, I want to give people food for
- 3:48Shabbat, figure out a way that I can help them to give people
- 3:51food for Shabbat. I said, you know, it's a
- 3:54generous thing. I said, why?
- 3:57He said, because I know how it feels.
- 3:59You know, it feels we will not be able to live, have a normal
- 4:01Shabbat table. And I want to give them, Can you
- 4:03please find people who need food for Shabbat?
- 4:07They gave me a task and a job. Until today.
- 4:09I'm finding people who need food, money for food Shabbat.
- 4:12And it's coming mainly from this guy and his family.
- 4:15And where'd it come from? A person who feels other people
- 4:19is there's no fanfare. No one has a clue who this guy
- 4:21is. No one knows the name of the
- 4:23organization. Even the people who get the
- 4:25money don't know where it's coming from.
- 4:27They don't even know anyone who's related to it.
- 4:29But he, he went through it, correct?
- 4:31He went through it. He said I'm only through it
- 4:33sometimes gives you that, that, that the ability to say I want
- 4:38to help sometimes, most times, most people who are the idea of
- 4:42this concept of being a Hasid told others means you feel that
- 4:46pain. The only way you really can
- 4:48recognize and fully care of other people is you feel that
- 4:51pain. And usually the best way to feel
- 4:54the pain is having felt that pain once before.
- 4:57Either you're just an extremely sensitive person or you're a
- 4:59person who went through. And we know that there's no
- 5:01question about it. When it comes to every area of
- 5:04being involved with people, there's no better education,
- 5:09There's no better sense than experience.
- 5:12Experience can be spending time talking to people, but even
- 5:16better than that is living in one way or another.
- 5:18Experience is the number one educator.
- 5:21When it comes to other people, you are a lot of life
- 5:24experience. There's nothing better.
- 5:26And when it comes to people's financial struggles, you know,
- 5:28it's it's very hard to really appreciate or sense the
- 5:34challenge is to be financially under pressure unless the person
- 5:39dealt with it because it's not something so tangible.
- 5:42OK, he needs money to live. I got it.
- 5:45But he made it along. If he figured it out so far, OK,
- 5:49you know, money is fuel. I understand being financially
- 5:53well off is help, but it's not life itself is what we think.
- 5:57Until you experience it. And then you have a bill you
- 6:00have to pay. And you imagine the minds of
- 6:03having a bill to pay, I'm being unable to pay it.
- 6:07It's the most pressurizing feeling.
- 6:09You can't sleep, you can't sleep, you can't function.
- 6:11I know you and I thank God personally, it's different.
- 6:14But when it came to the shul at a certain point in time when it
- 6:18became my responsibility and I wasn't really used to it at all.
- 6:23And I had the thought, look at the number, there's X amount of
- 6:26the account and there's unbelievable amount of bills
- 6:29coming in and it's the end of the month and I have no plan.
- 6:32It was pressure that I could not even, I couldn't believe.
- 6:36And now people do this. I again, I had a whole newfound
- 6:39appreciation for my father because he never showed this
- 6:41pressure even though he had it. But it's a certain sense that if
- 6:45people have this certain unbelievable, literally lack of
- 6:48living, being able to live like an old person when you have this
- 6:52stress and for another person to know that and to really display
- 6:57the right sensitivity, it requires some degree of
- 7:00experience or a real sense of sensitivity.
- 7:03And that makes you a hussy. When you get that, you know, you
- 7:06look at people who give charity who are loose.
- 7:10There's two types of my opinion. Either they have an unbelievable
- 7:13education from their parents and their parents told them you want
- 7:17to be blessed, give charity and they lose because of that.
- 7:21Or they have a great experience. In other words, a great
- 7:24knowledge of experience in this topic.
- 7:26Either one creates a loose level of a guy, no education or never
- 7:32experienced it. He understands a mitzvah called
- 7:34charity, but suave charity is not going to do for you.
- 7:37It's not going to get you to be generous.
- 7:40You need more than just a mitzvah check in the box.
- 7:42You need the sense of charity. You need the feeling, you need
- 7:45the emotion, you need the reason to give.
- 7:47You need to see the the fruit of giving.
- 7:49You need to have mindset. That mindset.
- 7:52It's a whole different world. It's true when it comes to money
- 7:55and it's also true it comes to other areas, but specifically
- 7:57financially for now. And a guy, let's say he
- 8:00dedicates himself to build a community organization to help
- 8:04people out. What's what's in it for that
- 8:06guy? If people know his name and he
- 8:08has fanfare, I hear, but no one knows his name.
- 8:11No fanfare or the adjective outweighs the fanfare.
- 8:15So what's in it? What's in it is he's a sense of
- 8:18worrying about the community at large as a beautiful person.
- 8:21He's not. He's not doing anything else.
- 8:25He's based on Hassidut, A Fuchata Miyat, and has a kind of
- 8:30Matsuri. A guy who thinks to himself,
- 8:35right now people are able to make ends meet.
- 8:37They're not going to be damaged right now, but I want them to
- 8:39have more Kevin jehola volla de cah E sedan via BDM.
- 8:44I don't want them to even face a challenge.
- 8:47I want them to be sore, protective financially, to not
- 8:50have to deal with what's going to come down down the road.
- 8:52A guy looks at a young couple who just got married, who
- 8:56probably can afford the basics, but he knows a young couple
- 9:00getting married again on their feet.
- 9:02If you make them pay all their bills within a few months and
- 9:06you'll be underwater. Let me make, let me leave the
- 9:08pressure from the beginning. Let me give that something a
- 9:11little bonus, a little extra. Leave the pressure of financial
- 9:14restraints on a young couple. He's not really saving a poor
- 9:19person, but he's avoiding a challenge.
- 9:21Again, that takes even more sensitivity and more
- 9:23understanding and more, you know, ability to be a person who
- 9:27can see into the future, to really recognize needs.
- 9:31And that is a hasique, right? To think, my friends, money is
- 9:45as valuable to me as my own. Imagine that mindset.
- 9:49I really worry about the people and their financial state,
- 9:52right? This is not so easy to attain.
- 9:54First of all, we face the issue of jealousy, all right #2 we
- 9:58face the challenge of wanting to be up there that doesn't feel
- 10:02about these points #3 it's hard for me to deal with other
- 10:06people's pain all the time. But you know what?
- 10:09If you open yourself up to this mindset, you recognize how
- 10:12financial stress can be equal. I know people and I'll be honest
- 10:17with you, I know people who dealt with medical stress and
- 10:21financial stress, medical stress to be able to handle financial
- 10:26one. They weren't.
- 10:27I looked at them and they said I don't get it.
- 10:29One is life, other one is not life.
- 10:32It's a fuel to function properly but it's not life.
- 10:36My my comment is wrong because it's true.
- 10:40One is life, one is physically living on, one is not.
- 10:42But the reality is to be on the water financially, it's such a
- 10:45hard thing to function. It's an impossible stress to
- 10:49deal with. And we don't have training and
- 10:51we don't have a method out. We don't have a way to live.
- 10:54And other people need to see that for those who are in need.
- 10:59And they need to see that and display that mindset in a few
- 11:02ways. One, to pitch in in any way they
- 11:05can 2 to give advice in any way they can. 3 to give them a word
- 11:12of gesuch when the underwater financially in a way that they
- 11:15can. And four, give them a job 1000%
- 11:20an additional. Don't make them feel so bad.
- 11:25Don't allow them to feel bad when they're struggling
- 11:27financially. Part of the challenge is not
- 11:30just the inability to make ends meet.
- 11:32Maybe equal to that is the bushah and the challenge that it
- 11:36feels for me, my, myself, if I cannot put it up food on the
- 11:40table properly. Khalid Shalom.
- 11:42It's a very difficult feeling. Your entire ego and and and self
- 11:47esteem goes out the window. It's hard to be a husband.
- 11:50It's hard to be a father. It's hard to be a friend.
- 11:53It's hard to be a member of a shul.
- 11:54It's not to be a member of this community.
- 11:56It's a very person. So you have to figure out how to
- 12:00make people feel that money is not a thing.
- 12:04It's a challenge because everyone thinks money leads to
- 12:07something is a challenge. But if you work at it, I need to
- 12:11work or develop your character and you open yourself up to be
- 12:15worried about other people's financial well-being.
- 12:18You can change your relationship to other people and you can
- 12:21change literally how other people live.
- 12:23Because there are people out there who are struggling
- 12:26sometimes for months, sometimes for years, and they cannot
- 12:30function. And the only way they're able to
- 12:32function is if they go to a location or have friends or
- 12:36family who are comfortable around them, with them, who make
- 12:40them comfortable even while these people are going through a
- 12:44tough time. So you're literally providing
- 12:46for them life. That's the mindset and that's
- 12:48the need. So you want to be a Hasee told
- 12:50other people, worry about the financial state and display all
- 12:54this in the process. That's the idea, right?
