- 0:00Speaker 1: All right, what do you got there? You know, we
- 0:03Speaker 1: we've been eating so many treats this week.
- 0:06Speaker 2: It's I think somebody is trying to give us diabetes.
- 0:09Speaker 3: I almost have it.
- 0:10Speaker 1: This one's on me.
- 0:12Speaker 2: What is it?
- 0:13Speaker 1: Well, I was it the story Yesterday I picking up
- 0:14Speaker 1: a couple of things and I saw them just sitting there,
- 0:17Speaker 1: and I thought, oh, okay, you have to.
- 0:20Speaker 2: I have to.
- 0:20Speaker 1: It's two genus favorite things, Reese's and Oreos. In one
- 0:25Speaker 1: it's the Reese's Oreo. Okay, Oreo in Rees's no explanation needed, No, yeah,
- 0:32Speaker 1: I meanized cookies. No, No, they're candies.
- 0:38Speaker 4: So that so actually both are available Bill to your point,
- 0:41Speaker 4: you can get an Oreo cookie with the Reese's peanut
- 0:46Speaker 4: butter instead of the filling.
- 0:49Speaker 1: These are Reese's candies with Oreo inside the Oreo.
- 0:56Speaker 2: Yeah, I like the wrapper. Oh see this is bad.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Oil wrapper with this is bad?
- 1:02Speaker 1: It is it not good?
- 1:03Speaker 4: No?
- 1:04Speaker 1: Because it's good?
- 1:05Speaker 2: Is it all?
- 1:06Speaker 1: It's a bad thing. Oh that's a bad thing. You
- 1:09Speaker 1: were hoping that it wouldn't be good.
- 1:11Speaker 2: So it's white. It's this white chocolate.
- 1:14Speaker 5: Mm hmm.
- 1:16Speaker 1: No, which is you know, I don't know if that
- 1:21Speaker 1: was such a good idea with the wing choker. Oh
- 1:22Speaker 1: but it's the regular chocolate underneath.
- 1:24Speaker 3: Yeah, yes, if you if you look at it and
- 1:26Speaker 3: there's a little Oreo crunch in it.
- 1:29Speaker 2: Yep, that's way better than a regular peanut butter.
- 1:32Speaker 1: These are these are fantastic.
- 1:34Speaker 3: I need another one.
- 1:35Speaker 4: See what you see what happens?
- 1:37Speaker 2: Yeah see I took two.
- 1:39Speaker 3: Oh those are good and they'll be limited time. So yeah, though,
- 1:45Speaker 3: just out for a while.
- 1:46Speaker 5: Because they're they're better than a regular Reese's peanut in
- 1:52Speaker 5: a way.
- 1:53Speaker 4: I mean sometimes these special things they keep around if
- 1:56Speaker 4: enough people like them.
- 1:58Speaker 5: Well, speaking of of course, I've been eating it with
- 2:02Speaker 5: the paper, so that's not that doesn't help.
- 2:04Speaker 1: No, those are good, damn it, they're good. Well, speaking
- 2:08Speaker 1: of treats, I have a list of treats, a list
- 2:13Speaker 1: of Here.
- 2:15Speaker 5: We go it's radio from Hell with another list because
- 2:18Speaker 5: people love a good list.
- 2:21Speaker 1: At ninety six, this is nineteen adults share the food
- 2:26Speaker 1: combinations that they eat that they ate as kids that
- 2:30Speaker 1: they didn't realize were seriously weird.
- 2:33Speaker 5: Yeah, I can imagine this is a good pole. By
- 2:36Speaker 5: the way, this will probably give rise to some thoughts
- 2:39Speaker 5: of my own. I can't think of anything off the
- 2:41Speaker 5: top of my head.
- 2:42Speaker 1: But here's one.
- 2:44Speaker 2: Again.
- 2:45Speaker 1: People thought this was normal growing up, and then they
- 2:47Speaker 1: find out it's weird. My family takes bananas, cuts them
- 2:50Speaker 1: in half, spreads miracle whip on them ooh, and tops
- 2:54Speaker 1: them with crushed salted peanuts. You chill them and the
- 2:58Speaker 1: refrigerator for it first, though.
- 3:00Speaker 3: Everything about that is weird and wrong.
- 3:03Speaker 2: I don't. I can't quite fathom that.
- 3:05Speaker 4: No.
- 3:07Speaker 1: Fifty years ago, I would eat cooked noodles in a
- 3:10Speaker 1: bowl and sprinkle fried bread crumbs and fresh strawberries over them.
- 3:16Speaker 5: Okay, strawberries, Yeah, hot noodles or cold.
- 3:21Speaker 2: It's just.
- 3:23Speaker 1: I would eat cooked noodles, cooked noodles.
- 3:25Speaker 2: I don't.
- 3:26Speaker 4: I feel like we've heard about that from someone before
- 3:29Speaker 4: that that was like a a Scandinavian thing or something.
- 3:33Speaker 2: Isn't don't you.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Feel like we've talked about that.
- 3:35Speaker 2: It doesn't ring about don't that one?
- 3:37Speaker 1: Here's one? This one? This one is yeah, apple sauce milkshakes.
- 3:42Speaker 1: It's basically apple sauce diluted with milk and a bunch
- 3:46Speaker 1: of cinnamon and sugar added in.
- 3:48Speaker 5: No, that sounds fose if it were cold enough, I
- 3:51Speaker 5: guess yeah, if it was yeah, pineapple salad.
- 3:56Speaker 1: I believe this was a relic left over from the sixties.
- 3:59Speaker 1: But it was a single leaf cup of iceberg lettuce,
- 4:02Speaker 1: sliced ring of canned pineapple, which was then topped with
- 4:06Speaker 1: mayo and shredded cheese.
- 4:07Speaker 2: Ye yep, ye got mayo.
- 4:09Speaker 3: I remember having all that with, like cottage cheese, like
- 4:12Speaker 3: a scoop of cottage.
- 4:14Speaker 5: I'm not shredded cheese, you know, I've had that with
- 4:17Speaker 5: they exactly described.
- 4:20Speaker 1: In my family. It was cornbread in milk. Some people
- 4:24Speaker 1: used buttermilk, but I didn't like it. The first time
- 4:26Speaker 1: my wife saw me eat it, she looked at me
- 4:28Speaker 1: as if I'd grown the third eyeball.
- 4:30Speaker 5: Yeah, you just you sort of crumble up some corn
- 4:32Speaker 5: bread and a glass of milk.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Now, this one sounds intriguing. My mother used to cook
- 4:37Speaker 1: double mashed potatoes one night and then the next night
- 4:41Speaker 1: add cut up onion and tuna to it. We usually
- 4:44Speaker 1: put it on toast. She and I preferred it when
- 4:47Speaker 1: it was burnt on the bottom. It's the only tuna
- 4:52Speaker 1: I've ever willingly eaten.
- 4:54Speaker 2: It says here.
- 4:56Speaker 4: I've unwillingly eaten other tuna, but that's the tuna I've
- 5:00Speaker 4: I had.
- 5:01Speaker 2: Head, I've been jailed for eating something.
- 5:03Speaker 1: You eat this tuna, peanut butter and dill pickles.
- 5:07Speaker 2: I don't.
- 5:07Speaker 1: I don't eat them as often as I used to.
- 5:09Speaker 1: But my older brother recently moved in with my husband
- 5:11Speaker 1: and me. He still eats peanut butter and dill relish
- 5:14Speaker 1: on a plane. Tortilla, Oh, and dill relish. So you
- 5:18Speaker 1: spread some peanut butter on but then you used the
- 5:20Speaker 1: dill pickles or this picture is sliced dill pickles, unlike
- 5:24Speaker 1: a peanut butter sandwich.
- 5:26Speaker 2: HM, that would be okay.
- 5:30Speaker 1: Make beans and dumplings, then take the leftover ham and beans,
- 5:34Speaker 1: thin them out, and cook flat rolled out dumplings in them.
- 5:40Speaker 1: Dad and I love to put butter and vinegar on them.
- 5:42Speaker 1: That sounds complicated. This one sounds a little more easy.
- 5:46Speaker 1: Chicken taco salad, okay. The chicken was in a sauce
- 5:50Speaker 1: of a thousand Island dressing and dice tomatoes, plush, shredded
- 5:54Speaker 1: lettuce and cheese, and served over chips. I don't think
- 5:58Speaker 1: I've heard of anyone else.
- 5:59Speaker 2: Eating this particular or combo doesn't sound bad, though.
- 6:01Speaker 1: I eat that codfish balls. That sounds horrible. My mom
- 6:07Speaker 1: would get cod that came in a wooden box. It
- 6:10Speaker 1: had to be soaked for several hours before it could
- 6:12Speaker 1: be cooked, and it stunk up the house. Then she'd
- 6:14Speaker 1: take bread crumbs, egg and the cod and form them
- 6:18Speaker 1: into balls and fry them in hot oil.
- 6:20Speaker 5: Yeah, I know people who like codfish tongues.
- 6:26Speaker 2: They have big tongues.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Apparently, here's people weighing in with the pickle and peanut
- 6:32Speaker 1: butter sandwiches. Apparently that's yeah, all right, Tuna noodies. We
- 6:38Speaker 1: call it that because my brother and I couldn't pronounce
- 6:41Speaker 1: noodles as toddlers. And it's just essentially it's a pasta
- 6:45Speaker 1: and black olives and.
- 6:48Speaker 5: I make we eat that at our house. It's noodles
- 6:52Speaker 5: with tuna and capers and like lemon juice and garlic
- 6:56Speaker 5: and it's good.
- 6:58Speaker 1: Now this sounds that sounds all right. When I was
- 7:00Speaker 1: a teen in a group home, many of the girls
- 7:02Speaker 1: would melt some crisco in a fry pan, toss in
- 7:04Speaker 1: a slice of bread, sprinkle it with lowery seasoned salt,
- 7:08Speaker 1: and fry until it was crispy. Yeah, I'd eat that. Hmm,
- 7:13Speaker 1: I'd eat that. Let's see cheese sandwiches were a big
- 7:18Speaker 1: thing in my house, but I've never met anyone else
- 7:19Speaker 1: who ate them. It was basically raw grilled cheese. You
- 7:23Speaker 1: didn't toast it, so it's just a grilled cheese, two
- 7:27Speaker 1: slices of Kraft American cheese, healthy spread of butter and
- 7:29Speaker 1: margarine on the inside, place between two slices of white bread,
- 7:32Speaker 1: served with plain lays and a side of ketchup and
- 7:35Speaker 1: chocolate milk.
- 7:36Speaker 2: Is a bonut. Now.
- 7:37Speaker 5: I saw this something yesterday and I tried it, or
- 7:40Speaker 5: not yesterday, but last week. And I had never encountered this,
- 7:44Speaker 5: but people were talking something. I was reading about Sizzler's
- 7:47Speaker 5: cheese bread, yes and how much they loved and I
- 7:51Speaker 5: don't recall ever having cheese bread at a Sizzler, So
- 7:54Speaker 5: I thought, well.
- 7:55Speaker 3: Red Lobster, a Sizzler was known for their cheese bread
- 7:58Speaker 3: and toasted on one.
- 8:00Speaker 2: So I looked it up and then I made it.
- 8:02Speaker 5: And you just take a piece of white bread and
- 8:05Speaker 5: you use grated cheese and you put some first, you
- 8:11Speaker 5: take softened butter and you put parmesan cheese in the
- 8:14Speaker 5: softened butter and mix them together, and then you spread
- 8:18Speaker 5: it on the on the bread and then toast it,
- 8:21Speaker 5: and it makes this kind of crumchy cheesy. It was
- 8:24Speaker 5: really quite good.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Growing up, we put cucumbers instead of lettuce on our tacos.
- 8:30Speaker 1: My mom never bought iceberg lettuce because she said it
- 8:33Speaker 1: had no nutritional value. Since iceberg is the lettuce that
- 8:36Speaker 1: goes on tacos. We didn't have lettuce for our tacos.
- 8:39Speaker 1: We used cucumbers. I can sure see that I can
- 8:43Speaker 1: do that.
- 8:43Speaker 2: Yeah, chop it up.
- 8:46Speaker 1: Here's something called fart on a plate.
- 8:49Speaker 2: No, thank you.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Crack an egg on a plate, microwave for five minutes,
- 8:54Speaker 1: sprinkle salt, pepper, cheese, and willa. Fart on a plate,
- 8:58Speaker 1: all right, and goulash. This was a poor family's dinner
- 9:03Speaker 1: my mother would make when we had no other food available.
- 9:05Speaker 1: It was absolutely disgusting. Basically, any canned or frozen vegetables available,
- 9:09Speaker 1: mixed with canned at dice tomatoes or tomato sauce, that
- 9:15Speaker 1: giant can of government pork that you'd get from the
- 9:17Speaker 1: government food hang a handout and cheese.
- 9:19Speaker 2: And peanut butter. Cook it all together up.
- 9:22Speaker 1: Hamburger biscuits with tomato gravy.
- 9:25Speaker 2: That could be good.
- 9:25Speaker 1: Yeah, you mix cook ground beef into homemade biscuit dough.
- 9:29Speaker 1: Bake it as drop biscuits. Home canned tomatoes were cooked
- 9:33Speaker 1: into a sauce. My mother was very thrifty. And you
- 9:35Speaker 1: put that on top of the biscuits.
- 9:37Speaker 3: That sounds good.
- 9:38Speaker 1: I'd eat that macaroni pie. I now know it's an
- 9:43Speaker 1: Italian American staple, but growing up I never knew anyone
- 9:45Speaker 1: else who ate it or had heard of it. It's
- 9:47Speaker 1: pasta with an egg and parmesan batter to hold it together,
- 9:51Speaker 1: cooked in a pan in olive oil.
- 9:52Speaker 2: Yeah, spaghetti pie. I've made that and finally.
- 9:59Speaker 1: Scrambled eggs squirrel brains.
- 10:01Speaker 2: No thanks.
- 10:02Speaker 3: Nobody ate that.
- 10:03Speaker 2: That wasn't a thing, but they did.
- 10:05Speaker 1: My grandfather's favorite dish. I used to eat it, and
- 10:07Speaker 1: I liked it until I found until I found out
- 10:09Speaker 1: what it was. And that's exactly what you think it is,
- 10:16Speaker 1: you know, I mean, how many squirrels you gotta have
- 10:18Speaker 1: a little tiny brain.
- 10:20Speaker 2: I'm kidding, it's just you use it just for flavoring.
- 10:24Speaker 1: That's a lot of squirrels. Though we've hoped you'd enjoyed
- 10:27Speaker 1: another list with Radio from Hell on X ninety six.
- 10:32Speaker 2: There you go,
