- 0:00Speaker 1: Coming now see your little miss seam Steeler. I'm the
- 0:04Speaker 1: star of the show. You're just the reason people tune in.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Crusty, there's something I have to tell you.
- 0:10Speaker 1: No, no, let me finish. I work like I drink
- 0:13Speaker 1: alone with a monkey watching me.
- 0:15Speaker 2: Crusty, I love you that way.
- 0:18Speaker 1: If I pass out, he turns me on my side.
- 0:21Speaker 1: So you what four.
- 0:22Speaker 3: Finger discount dude.
- 0:40Speaker 4: Welcome to what's short to be a very interesting episode
- 0:42Speaker 4: of four Finger Discounts, where this week we hit the
- 0:44Speaker 4: review episode Once Upon a Time in Springfield.
- 0:47Speaker 2: I'm Dando and I am guy look off mellowd out.
- 0:49Speaker 2: A little bit. Since our previous episode of four Finger
- 0:52Speaker 2: Discount I realized I was quite vehement in my venom
- 0:57Speaker 2: about Once upon a Time in Springfield. I still don't
- 0:59Speaker 2: like maybe dislike it a little less than I did before,
- 1:03Speaker 2: but I still don't think this is a very good
- 1:04Speaker 2: episode of the Simpsons.
- 1:07Speaker 4: I'm interested to hear your thoughts as to why, but
- 1:09Speaker 4: we shall get into that in the moment.
- 1:10Speaker 2: First of all, how are you doing? Yeah? All right?
- 1:12Speaker 2: Too bad? Feeling good? At summertime here in Australia.
- 1:15Speaker 4: Where the weather was fine up and touched the sky
- 1:18Speaker 4: where the living is easy. Suppose have you got women
- 1:21Speaker 4: on your mind always?
- 1:25Speaker 2: But only one? Mean mother? No? All good at in
- 1:33Speaker 2: this neck of the woods, how about you? Yeah? Really good?
- 1:35Speaker 4: As I said last week on the podcast that we
- 1:38Speaker 4: got hacked?
- 1:38Speaker 2: Was it last week?
- 1:39Speaker 4: Maybe it's depending on what's coming out, what the real
- 1:41Speaker 4: es date the last episode that we did a review,
- 1:43Speaker 4: we nearly got hacked. All the page you get hacked,
- 1:45Speaker 4: but thankfully Facebook saved us. I was thankful for that.
- 1:47Speaker 4: But yeah, Holly started school. Now can you believe I've
- 1:50Speaker 4: got two school kids?
- 1:51Speaker 2: Can you believe it? People?
- 1:52Speaker 4: When they if you've been listening to this show from
- 1:53Speaker 4: the start, started off as just me young whipper snipper,
- 1:57Speaker 4: Dano just whip a snapper whi snipper, that's the side gig. Yes, yes,
- 2:02Speaker 4: we'p a snap of Dando doing the show with Mitch.
- 2:05Speaker 4: No kids, you know, just newly married, full of life,
- 2:08Speaker 4: still full of life in a new way. But you know,
- 2:12Speaker 4: I've now got two kids. One's now in grade two
- 2:14Speaker 4: and one has just started what we call prep, so
- 2:16Speaker 4: that the first year of school here in Australia. And
- 2:19Speaker 4: it's a weird feeling because Holly's always been like the baby, right,
- 2:23Speaker 4: and it comes to a point where you sort of
- 2:25Speaker 4: realize you gotta stop treating her as the baby because
- 2:27Speaker 4: she's not a baby anymore. Because she's always the youngest,
- 2:29Speaker 4: you just naturally do that. I was like, you can't
- 2:32Speaker 4: be going to school. You're like your baby, Holly, because you,
- 2:34Speaker 4: holy baby, you're the baby. And then the second day
- 2:37Speaker 4: of dropping her off. First day, Nichola was shut the
- 2:40Speaker 4: day off of course to be there for the first day.
- 2:41Speaker 4: Second day, dropped her off. Holly pretty much. We arrived
- 2:44Speaker 4: and she just put her bag down. She run up
- 2:45Speaker 4: to the playground. I was like, that's cool. I was
- 2:46Speaker 4: talking to one of the parents and then the bell
- 2:48Speaker 4: went and Holly just ran out to a bag and
- 2:50Speaker 4: started walking in. I was like, Holly, He's like goodbye,
- 2:52Speaker 4: and she goes bye. I was like, I have a hug.
- 2:54Speaker 4: She's like okay. I'm thinking, don't fucking okay me just
- 2:59Speaker 4: second days, your holy baby, what are you doing. I
- 3:01Speaker 4: was like, my daughter doesn't need what she needs me.
- 3:04Speaker 4: But you know, she's like, she's independent, she's a kid now.
- 3:06Speaker 4: It's all I have to say to this Dan. There
- 3:09Speaker 4: was the Cats in the Cradle and the Silver spear Man.
- 3:11Speaker 4: It was just a moment when I've realized, oh Holly,
- 3:13Speaker 4: she's she's grown up.
- 3:14Speaker 2: Hey, well, look on the bright side, now you have
- 3:17Speaker 2: so much more time to devote to podcasting.
- 3:19Speaker 4: Yes, indeed more time to spend with you.
- 3:23Speaker 2: Also, you know, yeah, yeah, yeah, traded in Mitch One
- 3:27Speaker 2: might say you're upgraded. Who knows. Yeah, oh, life it's
- 3:33Speaker 2: always changing.
- 3:34Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm looking forward to doing this reviewer because I
- 3:36Speaker 4: really liked this episode once upon a time in Springfield.
- 3:38Speaker 2: You didn't like it.
- 3:38Speaker 4: I did not like and that's fine, you know, Yeah,
- 3:41Speaker 4: it's okay to not like the same things.
- 3:42Speaker 2: How many times have we said to our power Lennon
- 3:45Speaker 2: Moulton on the movie Guard with Mountain Dame, it's like,
- 3:47Speaker 2: it's all right if we don't agree about this movie.
- 3:49Speaker 4: Sometimes this is when we're suggesting a film to review
- 3:51Speaker 4: and he's like, I didn't like that one.
- 3:52Speaker 2: That's okay, tell us why? Yeah.
- 3:55Speaker 4: I feel like people like hearing criticism as opposed to
- 3:57Speaker 4: praise these days.
- 3:58Speaker 2: Well, yeah, I mean, and criticism not necessarily sledging. Criticism
- 4:01Speaker 2: is analysis of looking at it with a critical eyes, like,
- 4:04Speaker 2: well this worked for me, and here's why. As opposed
- 4:06Speaker 2: to this sucks.
- 4:07Speaker 4: I mean, that's as long as criticism, but justification as
- 4:10Speaker 4: to why it sucks.
- 4:11Speaker 2: Yeah, that's right. Yeah, informed opinion. Now that's what separates
- 4:15Speaker 2: the Lennard Moultons from say the Guy Davis'.
- 4:17Speaker 4: Before you get into why you thought this episode sucked,
- 4:20Speaker 4: I just want to throw a teaser a promo right
- 4:22Speaker 4: there for our discord, the Fourthing of Discount Discord. If

- 5:04Speaker 2: It is free. You forgot to add, I don't know
- 5:06Speaker 2: how computers work.
- 5:07Speaker 4: Yes, yes, now, once upon a time in springfeit, I'll
- 5:10Speaker 4: tell you what I did. Like I tell I've written here,
- 5:13Speaker 4: I thought this was a delightful episode that for me,
- 5:16Speaker 4: really showed after twenty one years, the Simpsons can still
- 5:18Speaker 4: deliver funny and an emotional story with a well deserved,
- 5:21Speaker 4: heartfelt ending that sends the audience home happy. So I
- 5:23Speaker 4: didn't think you could watch this ending and not feel
- 5:27Speaker 4: sort of like, oh, that's good for Krusty. And the
- 5:29Speaker 4: reason I say this is because Krusty earned that ending.
- 5:32Speaker 4: I feel like the writing earned that ending, because when
- 5:35Speaker 4: Penelope first showed her love for Krusty, the character of
- 5:38Speaker 4: Krusty to me, didn't deserve this. He didn't deserve this
- 5:41Speaker 4: love and adulation. I don't think he even gave back
- 5:43Speaker 4: the love that she deserved as well. Princess Penelope no right,
- 5:46Speaker 4: And I'm thinking, why does this douchebag deserve this love
- 5:50Speaker 4: from this beautiful, intelligent, clearly no great woman, right. And
- 5:55Speaker 4: then we have the wedding scene where he sees previous
- 5:59Speaker 4: ex wives and we're getting to Barton mill has trying
- 6:01Speaker 4: to ruin the wedding yahd YadA YadA, but Krusty sees
- 6:04Speaker 4: it and goes, you know what, I actually respect you
- 6:07Speaker 4: and love you enough to know I don't want to
- 6:09Speaker 4: put you through that I can't marry you. And it's
- 6:11Speaker 4: because I don't want to marry you. It's just I
- 6:13Speaker 4: don't want I know where it will likely end. And
- 6:16Speaker 4: he and he doesn't and then at the end and
- 6:19Speaker 4: she acknowledges that she goes, look, that's your decision.
- 6:21Speaker 2: She's sad.
- 6:22Speaker 4: In France, Krusty has changed his mind and he's changed
- 6:25Speaker 4: his ways for how long we don't know, correct, But
- 6:28Speaker 4: I thought it was nice for the Krusty character to
- 6:30Speaker 4: get some sort of evolution here where he went, I am,
- 6:34Speaker 4: I've been a horrible person, but I've seen what it
- 6:37Speaker 4: is required to be a better person, and you are
- 6:39Speaker 4: bringing out the better person out of me.
- 6:41Speaker 2: Okay. I like where you're coming from, and I think
- 6:44Speaker 2: that idea of Krusty having that realization at the altar
- 6:50Speaker 2: of this woman's too good for me. I've been bad
- 6:54Speaker 2: to women my entire life. I've been a bad partner,
- 6:58Speaker 2: a bad husband, and all that kind of stuff. It
- 7:00Speaker 2: would yeah, I love you too much to marry you.
- 7:02Speaker 2: I think that's it brought you through that. Yeah, I
- 7:04Speaker 2: think that's not a bad idea. And my problem is
- 7:09Speaker 2: everything leading up to the episode does not really letting
- 7:12Speaker 2: us to the wedding. Leading up to the wedding, it
- 7:14Speaker 2: does not really earn it okay. To me, it just
- 7:16Speaker 2: struck me as like, Okay, Princess Menlope has come on.
- 7:19Speaker 2: She's taken over the show. She's the opposite of everything
- 7:21Speaker 2: that Krusty does. To me, it felt like you didn't
- 7:24Speaker 2: see that much interaction between Vanelope and Krusty before You've
- 7:31Speaker 2: got the scene in the dressing room which she said
- 7:33Speaker 2: I'd love you since I was twelve years old or so.
- 7:34Speaker 2: They felt weir, but I get I get what it means. Yeah, yeah,
- 7:38Speaker 2: and then all of a sudden it's like love fantastic
- 7:41Speaker 2: all that kind of stuff.
- 7:44Speaker 4: To me, this could have been best suited as a
- 7:47Speaker 4: one hour episode. I think I think so two parter, yeah,
- 7:50Speaker 4: saying there was so much to this story that I
- 7:53Speaker 4: had to get chopped out for the sake of twenty
- 7:54Speaker 4: two minutes.
- 7:55Speaker 2: There needed to be a whole, not necessarily opposites a
- 7:58Speaker 2: track thing, but it needed to be Princess Penelope is
- 8:02Speaker 2: lovely and she wants nothing but good for Krusty. And
- 8:05Speaker 2: she's like, it can be our show, you know, And
- 8:08Speaker 2: you know, look, some of the stuff you do is
- 8:10Speaker 2: good for boys, and some of the stuff I do
- 8:12Speaker 2: is good for girls. And some of the stuff we
- 8:13Speaker 2: do together is good for both. And he's like, no,
- 8:15Speaker 2: I like the old way. I like doing things my way.
- 8:17Speaker 2: Blah blah blah bah. He slowly comes around her way
- 8:20Speaker 2: of thinking, and yeah, they make each other not better people,
- 8:24Speaker 2: but they sort of become more of a team. Now.
- 8:27Speaker 2: I never really felt that throughout the episode until you
- 8:30Speaker 2: get that I love you, Crusty.
- 8:32Speaker 4: He's like, oh, wow, okay, great, I mean love. So
- 8:35Speaker 4: if it felt rushed, yes, it didn't earn it. I'm
- 8:38Speaker 4: thinking right now top of my head as you explain
- 8:40Speaker 4: that a scene where you can have Krusty, you can
- 8:42Speaker 4: have Crusty's do what you did first, where he's like, no,
- 8:44Speaker 4: I like the old ways, and then you can have
- 8:46Speaker 4: Crusty walking down the hallway and he overhears a meeting
- 8:48Speaker 4: between or Penelope's dressing room and the executives are and
- 8:53Speaker 4: they're like, look, we're making so much more money. Now,
- 8:55Speaker 4: let's just get rid of Crusty. And she goes, Now,
- 8:57Speaker 4: Crusty is the heart and soul of this show. She goes,
- 8:59Speaker 4: I don't want to ge rid of and he hears
- 9:00Speaker 4: that and goes, oh, I've been too hard on her.
- 9:02Speaker 2: Yeah, and she's actually, well, she's actually a good person
- 9:04Speaker 2: as opposed to someone who's come to steal my show. Yeah,
- 9:07Speaker 2: let's make it the Princess Penelope Experience featuring Crusty. No, no, no, no,
- 9:10Speaker 2: this is the Krusty Show. Yeah, and eventually it could
- 9:13Speaker 2: be the Krusty and Penelope Show. But no, no, we're not.
- 9:15Speaker 2: We're not kicking him out. He's yeah, as he said,
- 9:17Speaker 2: he's the heart and soul as opposed to you. I
- 9:18Speaker 2: just love you because I've always loved you. Correct.
- 9:21Speaker 4: They can build up the relationship that way because I
- 9:23Speaker 4: get the feeling. I mean, we can work together as
- 9:25Speaker 4: a team. And once he works together the team, he's like,
- 9:26Speaker 4: oh my god, now I'm.
- 9:27Speaker 2: In love with her. Yeah, it's called the you know,
- 9:29Speaker 2: it's called Krusty Lou Studios, which is a play on Desilou,
- 9:32Speaker 2: which was Lucille Ball's company, you know, des and Lucille Ball.
- 9:36Speaker 2: And I mean Dess was a talented guy, but lucill
- 9:38Speaker 2: Wall was clearly the driver that of course. Sure, yeah, yeah,
- 9:41Speaker 2: but I mean it would have been great if they
- 9:43Speaker 2: these two realize, oh, we're two strong personalities. Oh we
- 9:45Speaker 2: love each other, but we are sometimes we clash all that.
- 9:48Speaker 2: It could have been like a Desioners and Lucier Ball
- 9:50Speaker 2: kind of analogue. But again, we've only got twenty something
- 9:53Speaker 2: minutes to work with here.
- 9:54Speaker 4: You could also you could also have Crusty coming to
- 9:56Speaker 4: the realization, you know what, maybe it's time to pass
- 9:58Speaker 4: the torch and have that moment in the dress room
- 10:00Speaker 4: where he's he's everheard and he and they start working
- 10:02Speaker 4: together as a team, and then he goes, I think
- 10:05Speaker 4: I'm going to give you the show. Now he goes,
- 10:06Speaker 4: I don't. I think I'm used today's today's news. You
- 10:09Speaker 4: are than news, And that's where she confesses her love
- 10:11Speaker 4: for him. That's not just in that way, it's not
- 10:13Speaker 4: out of the blue. She's like, no, no, I've loved you.
- 10:16Speaker 2: For so long.
- 10:16Speaker 4: You are a great person. As a team, w will
- 10:19Speaker 4: be the best that we can be.
- 10:20Speaker 2: Yeah. See, I mean literally I'm biased because we're we're
- 10:25Speaker 2: coming up with the other it is, but I already
- 10:27Speaker 2: think that's better because to me, it's like when we
- 10:29Speaker 2: talked about those days with baby. I mean I think
- 10:31Speaker 2: that had like a solid idea in it or a
- 10:33Speaker 2: solid theme in it. It just goes about everything in
- 10:37Speaker 2: the most lazy, lame, slapdash way.
- 10:40Speaker 4: The easiest way to make this work is to just
- 10:44Speaker 4: get rid of the B plot, because the B plot
- 10:46Speaker 4: serves as absolutely no purpose of all anyway. Yeah, that's
- 10:49Speaker 4: all right, none that the B plot doesn't interfere or
- 10:51Speaker 4: interact with the A plot in any way. So just
- 10:53Speaker 4: take out the B plot. Put that in a different
- 10:55Speaker 4: episode cause I didn't mind the beeple, But put that
- 10:57Speaker 4: in a different episodes somewhere. Oh yeah, I mean, and
- 10:59Speaker 4: then and then, and then just have this one with
- 11:01Speaker 4: the full because this story here, if it had the
- 11:04Speaker 4: full twenty two dedicated to it, you can flash it out.
- 11:06Speaker 4: Oh yeah, I mean, you could do a whole episode
- 11:09Speaker 4: about there's a new there's a Capital city, yeah, the
- 11:13Speaker 4: Cap City plant, or there's yeah, there's a new employer
- 11:15Speaker 4: in town. It's like, we'll give we'll give the workers
- 11:19Speaker 4: everything they want, I mean everything that you know, it's
- 11:21Speaker 4: workers as supposedly. Wow, a great healthcare plan, oh wow,
- 11:24Speaker 4: humane working conditions, and you know.
- 11:27Speaker 2: They should really take this. This is the golden opportunity.
- 11:30Speaker 2: This is what everybody wants. And then at the end
- 11:31Speaker 2: there's they're so dumb and greedy, and so was like, wait,
- 11:35Speaker 2: we get these dope donuts twice a day, Okay, no
- 11:39Speaker 2: health plan? Yeah, yeah, I'll take that in favor of Yeah,
- 11:43Speaker 2: in favor of what's right for the workers. Well, I've
- 11:45Speaker 2: been saying that would have been a great whole episode. Yeah,
- 11:47Speaker 2: I've been saying for a long time. I hate what
- 11:49Speaker 2: Burns has become. I felt this was as close to
- 11:52Speaker 2: classic Burns as we've got, where he's groveling, but he's growling,
- 11:55Speaker 2: but he's got an endgame, that's right. Yeah, I mean
- 11:58Speaker 2: he can't be he can be old and kind of
- 12:01Speaker 2: pathetic or decrepit in some ways, but he's still got
- 12:04Speaker 2: to have teeth. He's still got to and even he's
- 12:07Speaker 2: more dangerous because he's been around so long and he
- 12:09Speaker 2: knows how Yeah, is rich and that makes him dangerous,
- 12:12Speaker 2: or it makes him a threat in some ways, or
- 12:14Speaker 2: it makes him kind of a tyrant or over but yeah,
- 12:15Speaker 2: mainly he's guys like, I can I think you an
- 12:17Speaker 2: out scheme because doing this forever. Yeah. Yeah, he's always
- 12:20Speaker 2: wants to bed.
- 12:20Speaker 4: He knew they're going to ask for a health plan,
- 12:22Speaker 4: so he's like, well, I've got two doughnuts. He's already
- 12:24Speaker 4: got it ready to go.
- 12:24Speaker 2: Yeah. That's great if you had that a whole episode,
- 12:28Speaker 2: I mean, or as the a plot in another episode
- 12:31Speaker 2: with a with a because we didn't really see why
- 12:34Speaker 2: they were trying to scout these three. Yeah, and it
- 12:37Speaker 2: seems like they're the only employees at the Springfield.
- 12:40Speaker 4: Yeah, And I think what you need to do is
- 12:42Speaker 4: you need to have them Homer and Lenny telling the
- 12:45Speaker 4: other guys and everyone else leaving the Springfield plant to.
- 12:47Speaker 2: Go to this plant. Yeah. Have them a sort of
- 12:49Speaker 2: we're losing employees everywhere. Have them are sort of the delegates. Yeah. Yeah.
- 12:52Speaker 2: But honestly, I think the a plot of this involving
- 12:55Speaker 2: Princess Melby, Yeah, could have been its whole own story.
- 13:00Speaker 2: But the way they went about and you touched on
- 13:03Speaker 2: this a little earlier, but yeah, Krusty realizing, oh, my
- 13:06Speaker 2: style of comedy is perhaps not what it used to be.
- 13:08Speaker 2: It's not in they've touched on this and other episodes
- 13:12Speaker 2: as well. Yeah, but got them with the ponytail cigarette.
- 13:17Speaker 2: That's great. And then realizing, oh, well, yeah, maybe kids
- 13:25Speaker 2: are into princesses and Princess Penelope and she's the new
- 13:27Speaker 2: wave of things. I'll step aside or whatever. But no,
- 13:30Speaker 2: and no, no, we can work together and it'd be great.
- 13:32Speaker 2: I want to work together. Yeah. I think that's a
- 13:34Speaker 2: good idea, and they sort of touched on it in
- 13:36Speaker 2: this episode. But the way they go about it, it
- 13:38Speaker 2: just feels so we're using this. I feel like we're
- 13:40Speaker 2: using this term a fair bit. We we're talking about
- 13:42Speaker 2: modern Simpsons is mean spirited. Yeah, it's kind of like
- 13:47Speaker 2: they're sympathizing with Barton Millhouse, who are kind of like
- 13:50Speaker 2: it's for girls now and girls things suck, And I mean, look,
- 13:54Speaker 2: I've been guilty of this is like WHA's everything's howing? Clusion?
- 13:58Speaker 2: I why just make your own storage? But it's like,
- 14:01Speaker 2: I don't know the way they were going about it
- 14:03Speaker 2: just felt kind of cruel.
- 14:04Speaker 4: I'm trying to work on the idea had before where
- 14:08Speaker 4: he says we can work as a team, maybe you
- 14:10Speaker 4: could also have that, you know. They start working as
- 14:11Speaker 4: a team and Krusty starts falling in love with her,
- 14:13Speaker 4: and he's like, I can't. I'm falling in love with
- 14:16Speaker 4: this girl, and I can't work with it because I just,
- 14:18Speaker 4: I just I'm getting too close. And look, we need
- 14:21Speaker 4: to separate because I'm falling in love with you. And
- 14:23Speaker 4: that's where she says, I love you too. I think, oh,
- 14:26Speaker 4: yeah's for all your faults and now to say the
- 14:29Speaker 4: whole I've loved you since I was twelve years old.
- 14:31Speaker 4: I've seen you at your worst, and she goes, but
- 14:34Speaker 4: I've seen you at your best as well, that's right,
- 14:36Speaker 4: and I love you for everything about you.
- 14:38Speaker 2: And it's like, that's classic. That's wrong. Com one. I won.
- 14:40Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, there we go. I mean, and you can
- 14:44Speaker 4: still have the wedding moment. As a result, they're going, look,
- 14:46Speaker 4: look all my previous marriagers didn't work. I can't put
- 14:48Speaker 4: you through this. She's like, no, no, I still love you.
- 14:50Speaker 4: He's like, no, I can't do it, and you can
- 14:52Speaker 4: still have that ending.
- 14:53Speaker 2: Yeah, you have some scene beforehand where you know, where
- 14:56Speaker 2: he's confronted by one or two of the x Yves.
- 14:58Speaker 2: I mean, this isn't the.
- 14:59Speaker 4: It's like, should moved to France? And why is she
- 15:01Speaker 4: still Princess PELOPI? Yeah, that's the thing.
- 15:03Speaker 2: What happened here? Yeah, the whole bit in France at
- 15:05Speaker 2: the end. I know, I know you like it. No,
- 15:06Speaker 2: I like anything to do with Paris. But at the
- 15:08Speaker 2: same time, it's like, I don't get this. Why is
- 15:10Speaker 2: she giving up all the success? Yeah? Admittedly, look you're
- 15:13Speaker 2: getting Anne Hathaway to sing some more stuff. She's got
- 15:15Speaker 2: a lovely singing voice.
- 15:16Speaker 4: And why would they keep Krusty and not Princess Penelope
- 15:20Speaker 4: if they're going to pick one of the two? The
- 15:21Speaker 4: exactly is I'm talking about it?
- 15:22Speaker 2: That's right. Unless you know, we sort of see we
- 15:24Speaker 2: have just a moment where it's kind of like Crusty,
- 15:27Speaker 2: your cue readings are through the roof, you know, kids
- 15:29Speaker 2: love you again, and it's like, yeah, they put back
- 15:33Speaker 2: the krusty merchandise. You know, you have wise guys that
- 15:36Speaker 2: have had to dig around in the in the dumpster.
- 15:39Speaker 2: It's like, oh, I got I get all this stuff out.
- 15:40Speaker 2: You know, they're trying to sell krusty merchant that's got
- 15:42Speaker 2: cruddle over it. Yeah, there you go. I think that'd
- 15:45Speaker 2: be kind of funny. Well.
- 15:46Speaker 4: The thing that the logic about this, though I didn't
- 15:47Speaker 4: quite understand, right, is is so they're trying to get
- 15:50Speaker 4: girls to tune in, right, But if you're scaring away
- 15:53Speaker 4: all the boys and you're having girls instead, then what
- 15:56Speaker 4: was the point? Yeah, because you're scaring away one half
- 15:58Speaker 4: of your audience.
- 15:59Speaker 2: That's the thing. Even allude to that in the episode,
- 16:01Speaker 2: because I mean, the Simpson has done such a great
- 16:04Speaker 2: job in the past, and I'm sorry to be the
- 16:05Speaker 2: guy who says, oh, they used to do it better,
- 16:07Speaker 2: but I mean they used to really kick the ship
- 16:10Speaker 2: out of pretentious executives and quote unquoe creative producers that
- 16:14Speaker 2: didn't really know what the fun Yeah. Yeah, And the
- 16:16Speaker 2: ones they've got at the start here are just like
- 16:18Speaker 2: this is such this is such so lazy. This is
- 16:21Speaker 2: just feels so lazy with these guys, with these two
- 16:25Speaker 2: Wes Lindsey, Yeah exactly. Here's a dog that gets biz
- 16:30Speaker 2: a consistently and thoroughly put it on my tombstone, and yeah,
- 16:39Speaker 2: have them sort of be oh, like, oh, we got
- 16:42Speaker 2: this great idea, We're going to attract female markets, Like,
- 16:44Speaker 2: but wait a minute, we lost the boys sort of
- 16:47Speaker 2: runofs what about the boys who just think, yeah, they've
- 16:53Speaker 2: got all these buzzwords and they've got these sort of
- 16:54Speaker 2: quote unquite great ideas, and it's like, oh, wait, we
- 16:57Speaker 2: messed up. It's the great we don't know anything.
- 17:00Speaker 4: The guy selling the lips and it's like, what else
- 17:02Speaker 4: can you do with them?
- 17:03Speaker 2: Make you sure? So we go down to my basement.
- 17:07Speaker 2: So there you go. Okay, look there's the germ of
- 17:12Speaker 2: a good idea. I'm fine for myself, sort of saying
- 17:14Speaker 2: that a lot about the Simpsons these days. But yeah,
- 17:17Speaker 2: I just don't think it was executed all that well.
- 17:19Speaker 2: I think I get the feeling there was.
- 17:21Speaker 4: Too much try to stuffed in when you could have
- 17:23Speaker 4: separated these two. It had two really fully fleshed up
- 17:25Speaker 4: that's correct. I still really enjoyed it for what it was,
- 17:28Speaker 4: but I think in particular what I loved was just
- 17:29Speaker 4: An Hathaway's performance as Princess Penelope. This is a character
- 17:32Speaker 4: who've never met before, right, And I think by the
- 17:35Speaker 4: end of this I had more of an emotional connection
- 17:37Speaker 4: to this character than I have for many of the
- 17:38Speaker 4: characters we've had for the last year. I thought, she
- 17:41Speaker 4: added again, it's just Ane Hathaway.
- 17:43Speaker 2: That's true.
- 17:44Speaker 4: I mean, it's hard not to love an Hathway. But
- 17:45Speaker 4: I just think she just adds this real sense of
- 17:48Speaker 4: realism and believability to this characters, Like I can believe
- 17:51Speaker 4: that Princess Penelope actually does love Trusty.
- 17:54Speaker 2: I'm not buying it as much as you are, but
- 17:56Speaker 2: I do like the performance. Look, it's kind of a shortcut,
- 18:02Speaker 2: I guess.
- 18:02Speaker 4: I'm just I was glad because I couldn't really remember
- 18:04Speaker 4: how this one ended. I'm just glad that Princess Penelope
- 18:08Speaker 4: because we know that the male dominated writing room of
- 18:11Speaker 4: the Simpsons, right, you know the gags we tend to
- 18:13Speaker 4: get women am all right. I'm just glad that once
- 18:15Speaker 4: she did that, it wasn't her pretending to love him
- 18:19Speaker 4: to get further and further her career. She just genuinely
- 18:21Speaker 4: loved him, which I thought, Okay, Well, that's nice, okay,
- 18:24Speaker 4: because they could have easily have gone the whole Oh
- 18:26Speaker 4: that woman, she's using crusty.
- 18:28Speaker 2: That's a good point. That's a good point as I
- 18:29Speaker 2: was about to say, it's a bit of a comedy
- 18:31Speaker 2: shortcut when you have someone who seems very pretty and
- 18:34Speaker 2: particular and perfect in every way, and then when you
- 18:37Speaker 2: hear their real words, it's kind of like, yeah, straight
- 18:39Speaker 2: out of Straight out of Jersey or something in Long Island.
- 18:41Speaker 2: They don't do that again. They show that once when
- 18:43Speaker 2: she's on the phone, but then she just told and
- 18:44Speaker 2: then she does talks like Ann Hathaway. Yeah, so she
- 18:47Speaker 2: doesn't Penelope. Yeah.
- 18:49Speaker 4: So you're hear on the phone talking like that and
- 18:51Speaker 4: you think, oh so, and that's the because that's to
- 18:53Speaker 4: say what she give messes her love. And I was like, ah,
- 18:55Speaker 4: so is she not who she's meant? But then it
- 18:58Speaker 4: was just weird because look, what's the point showing her
- 19:00Speaker 4: voice like that if she's not going to use that
- 19:01Speaker 4: voice for the rest of the episode.
- 19:03Speaker 2: But it's always a good comedy shortcut. I mean SNL
- 19:06Speaker 2: does it all the time. Every time they have Scarlet
- 19:07Speaker 2: Johnson on, she always plays this sort of recurring character.
- 19:09Speaker 2: This not every time, but for a while her dad
- 19:14Speaker 2: was like sold really techy like garden furniture and stuff
- 19:18Speaker 2: for the house, and she'd come on board. It's like
- 19:20Speaker 2: you've got her on these things. Look at this one,
- 19:23Speaker 2: look at that one, and it's beautiful skeleton Hanson talking
- 19:26Speaker 2: like this, It's like, it's pretty funny. I'm always flowed.
- 19:30Speaker 4: When I hear British actors speaking in their accent, when
- 19:33Speaker 4: you've just known for all their American voice roles. I
- 19:36Speaker 4: like Leam Nisan for example, Like when I was a kid,
- 19:38Speaker 4: he was Obi Wan and Quie gone right, and then
- 19:41Speaker 4: I was like, hey on British and the Millie Bobby Brown,
- 19:46Speaker 4: I forgot she was British, right. And I watched the
- 19:48Speaker 4: documentary for Strange Things five and I was like, hang
- 19:51Speaker 4: on a minute now, and there's a few other things
- 19:56Speaker 4: we need to touch on here. So this was promoted
- 19:58Speaker 4: as the four undred and fiftieth EPISO, so they're trying
- 20:00Speaker 4: to treat it as like a special because at the
- 20:01Speaker 4: end it says thanks to twenty years and the best
- 20:03Speaker 4: is yet to come, YadA, YadA, YadA. And it was
- 20:05Speaker 4: aired alongside I never I remember watching it, but it
- 20:08Speaker 4: was just, yeah, it's kind of like just forgotten about now.
- 20:11Speaker 4: The twentieth anniversary special The Simpsons in three D on
- 20:14Speaker 4: ice because it was directed by Morgan's Spurlock.
- 20:17Speaker 2: You see that the supersize supercize me. Yeah, Rip Morgan.
- 20:21Speaker 2: He's been along with us.
- 20:22Speaker 4: He's no longer with us, but apparently had some controversies
- 20:24Speaker 4: and whatnot. So this special just sort of just it
- 20:27Speaker 4: was probably on YouTube somewhere, but it's just it's not.
- 20:29Speaker 2: Deemed problematic after the fact. Yeah. Yeah, probably the whole
- 20:32Speaker 2: supersizing anything was kind of a roost or something.
- 20:35Speaker 4: I'm not too sure whatever. Yeah, I remember watching his
- 20:37Speaker 4: going I'm not buying this at all.
- 20:39Speaker 2: I remember watching I'm buying a big maga for this.
- 20:42Speaker 4: I want to be the guy. It's all the big Max.
- 20:44Speaker 4: But there wasn't the fortund and fiftieth episode. It was
- 20:46Speaker 4: the four to fifty first last week Thursdays of Abby
- 20:48Speaker 4: was the four to fiftieth, And they like those episodes
- 20:50Speaker 4: even worse than this one. So let's just let's kind
- 20:52Speaker 4: of it's weird. Why they why they do that, Why
- 20:56Speaker 4: they would say it's the found and fiftieth episode, but
- 20:59Speaker 4: it's not true.
- 21:01Speaker 2: It doesn't really make it that whole, that whole bit
- 21:04Speaker 2: at the end that coming up thanks for twenty wonderful years.
- 21:07Speaker 2: The Bestie like kind of felt like a joke, but
- 21:10Speaker 2: it's like injecting this weird sincerity. I mean, after Middlely,
- 21:13Speaker 2: after a quite sincere ending. But like so, I am
- 21:17Speaker 2: using the term unearned a lot. I thought it was earned.
- 21:19Speaker 4: Yeah, but the it's al Jean has said that he
- 21:22Speaker 4: thought this is one of the five essential episodes in
- 21:24Speaker 4: the show's history.
- 21:25Speaker 2: Okay, well I disagree with al Jean, but that's all right.
- 21:28Speaker 4: And Hathaway she won the Primetime Emmy Award for her
- 21:32Speaker 4: Voice of performance here. She won two awards for it
- 21:35Speaker 4: this episode and it also has a various other guest stars.
- 21:38Speaker 4: Power Maruice Lamash appears in this again. He is the
- 21:40Speaker 4: nuclear power plant security guard. Gary Larson appears at the
- 21:44Speaker 4: power plant as well.
- 21:44Speaker 2: As we were touched on.
- 21:45Speaker 4: Jackie Mason returns as as Rusty's dad, but we get
- 21:48Speaker 4: an appearance of from Earth the Kit now Earth Kitty,
- 21:51Speaker 4: actual Earth Kid? Was it the actual Earth of Kid? Yeah,
- 21:53Speaker 4: who's one of Crusty's last wife. She recorded this just
- 21:56Speaker 4: before she passed away, so she passed away before this
- 21:58Speaker 4: episode air, but she recorded it in time, which is
- 22:00Speaker 4: why the episode was dedicated to her.
- 22:02Speaker 2: Indeed, and yeah, she's doing a play on her performance
- 22:06Speaker 2: in the Adam West Batman as Catwoman. I was doing
- 22:09Speaker 2: cat puns. Rror the kid. What a character? What a
- 22:15Speaker 2: great name? Earth a Kit? Yeah, earth a Kit And
- 22:19Speaker 2: it sounds like something you buy Bunnings, but instead it's
- 22:22Speaker 2: just a dope name for a great lady.
- 22:25Speaker 4: And it's just her real name, Eartha may Kit. What
- 22:28Speaker 4: a lady? Indeed, I remember she's saying Santa Baby. I
- 22:31Speaker 4: think you know. I'm pretty sure I've heard a version
- 22:34Speaker 4: of Santa Baby. It's just like, oh my, now, guys,
- 22:38Speaker 4: I hope you're enjoyed this week's show. Remember, if you

- 23:11Speaker 4: I'm assuming you don't have many, but I didn't mind
- 23:14Speaker 4: Krusty here where So Princess Pinelope is talking about how
- 23:17Speaker 4: she used to like watching Crusty on the specific station
- 23:20Speaker 4: and he's like, oh yeah, there's a fat station. Manager's like,
- 23:22Speaker 4: that's my dad. Great guy.
- 23:26Speaker 2: Crusty is no dummy.
- 23:27Speaker 4: I'll like to debait and switch of Crusty in the
- 23:30Speaker 4: water at the end, so you think, oh, he's staying
- 23:31Speaker 4: next to on the bridge and he's not there. I'm like, oh, no,
- 23:34Speaker 4: he's in the water's bolt, he's falling off the boat.
- 23:37Speaker 4: And finally Homer here when bart is talking about women
- 23:40Speaker 4: ruining everything and Hamah says, you say that now, but
- 23:43Speaker 4: when you're older, you'll just think it.
- 23:44Speaker 2: It's yes, it is actually very true unless you're a podcast.
- 23:51Speaker 2: As I mentioned before, I like when Ann Hathaway sort
- 23:53Speaker 2: of puts on the blue collar voice. I thought that
- 23:55Speaker 2: was good and I thought this was quite an app line.
- 23:57Speaker 2: If new writers knew how to abuld girls, they wouldn't
- 23:59Speaker 2: be Next question you there eating the.
- 24:03Speaker 4: Beast trivia time. My first question for you is what
- 24:07Speaker 4: was Lenny's id badge name a fake one?
- 24:09Speaker 2: Was it? Some have been lazy, some have been sleeping,
- 24:12Speaker 2: some have been sleeping. I think some have been lazies.
- 24:16Speaker 2: Might be him a bit better.
- 24:18Speaker 4: But it's been as in bean, some as bean lazy.
- 24:22Speaker 4: So it's being as opposed to bean. Depends on bean
- 24:24Speaker 4: or bean. Yeah, yeahah, both ways.
- 24:26Speaker 2: Margin makes donuts. What is the missing rainbow sprinkle? That
- 24:30Speaker 2: would be violet? That is correct.
- 24:32Speaker 4: My next question for you is in what year did
- 24:35Speaker 4: Look magazine say Krusty is one of the one hundred
- 24:38Speaker 4: most promising clowns.
- 24:39Speaker 2: Oh, nineteen eighty two, it's fifty eight, fifty eight. How
- 24:44Speaker 2: old is Krusty? That's a good question.
- 24:45Speaker 4: Now I don't really I suppose that would make Crusty
- 24:48Speaker 4: like mid fifties. At this point is yeah.
- 24:50Speaker 2: I get the feling. You probably realy know this. It
- 24:52Speaker 2: may be one of your questions. But what is the
- 24:53Speaker 2: name of the TV station in Mineola, Long Island? Oh?
- 24:56Speaker 4: I don't have that w w dxt, w w d
- 25:00Speaker 4: qtb d qt. My final question for you is what
- 25:05Speaker 4: does the tagline say at the wedding at the country club?
- 25:09Speaker 2: Warning? Oh damn it. I did see that, and I
- 25:12Speaker 2: thought bride's high school friends are annoying. Notrue no, no,
- 25:19Speaker 2: one last question for you, chartty mentions. Girls don't laugh
- 25:22Speaker 2: and they don't buy cigars. And then they talk about
- 25:24Speaker 2: a sponsor that would be dropping them.
- 25:26Speaker 4: Do you Dutch something, Dutch Masters? That's masters? Yes, all right,
- 25:30Speaker 4: that is trivia. Let's now get into some Stonecutters.
- 25:34Speaker 2: Do it.
- 25:34Speaker 4: We're gonna kick off with the incredible KTG.
- 25:45Speaker 2: With her one hundred old Sport.

- 26:24Speaker 4: at four Finger disc a news Nephlet's get into our
- 26:26Speaker 4: review of Once Upon a Time in Springfield. It originally
- 26:30Speaker 4: aired jenerally tenth twenty and ten. The top three films
- 26:32Speaker 4: at the box office are still the same three films.
- 26:34Speaker 4: Alvin and the Chipmunks, The Squiggle, Shelock Holmes and Avatar
- 26:38Speaker 4: still one, two and three, respectively.
- 26:40Speaker 2: Good luck knock an Avatar off the top spot.
- 26:42Speaker 4: Yeah, number one for a long time, Like just made
- 26:45Speaker 4: the movie was a long time. They're all a long time,
- 26:48Speaker 4: aren't they. Yeah, unecessary. You can cut out at least
- 26:50Speaker 4: an hour of those films, I reckon, I think so.
- 26:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:52Speaker 4: So the sign gag, what was the billboard gag?
- 26:55Speaker 2: This one? This was still suckond after twenty years.
- 26:58Speaker 4: The fox that worked a picture of Maggie. Yes, the
- 27:00Speaker 4: chopboall gag the world may end in twenty twelve, but
- 27:03Speaker 4: this show won't. And the cash gag the couch is
- 27:05Speaker 4: seen inside a human egg. Each family member is a
- 27:08Speaker 4: sperm cell swimming towards and penetrating the egg to sit
- 27:11Speaker 4: on the couch. Conceptions cells, Yeah, then device multiple times,
- 27:15Speaker 4: forming a mister Burns embryo whose first words are excellent.
- 27:18Speaker 2: Doesn't really say excellent that much anymore, do they? No?
- 27:21Speaker 4: He doesn't, no, but he doesn't really scheme much anymore.
- 27:24Speaker 4: This would have been the perfect episode to haven't go excellent.
- 27:26Speaker 2: That's right, Yeah, he used to say that.
- 27:28Speaker 4: Yeah, once they go well, I suppose the payoff for
- 27:31Speaker 4: that joke was it cuts to them working at the
- 27:33Speaker 4: power plan again. But if they haven't agreed in that moment, right,
- 27:36Speaker 4: we'll give up the health plan for the two donuts.
- 27:39Speaker 2: Excellent Yes, Yeah, turn around excellent Yes.
- 27:43Speaker 4: Written by Stephanie Gillis and directed by Matthew and a
- 27:46Speaker 4: Stack production code LA b F two zero. The episode
- 27:49Speaker 4: kicks off with Krusty and Mister Teeny on their show
- 27:51Speaker 4: shooting flaming arrows at each other, and they hit side
- 27:53Speaker 4: Show Mal just being very cruel to side show Mal.
- 27:56Speaker 4: So they replaced side Show Mal, did they? That's another
- 27:59Speaker 4: element of this story is the Krusty Show and Princess
- 28:02Speaker 4: Penelbe Show. But we don't see side show Mal on
- 28:04Speaker 4: the show. Yeah, it's almost like you just got replaced.
- 28:06Speaker 4: But we don't see Mal annoyed by this or anything
- 28:09Speaker 4: like that. But Homer about laughing at this. Marge says
- 28:13Speaker 4: that comedy should come from people being nice, and I says, no,
- 28:15Speaker 4: a good old block on the head is what you need.
- 28:17Speaker 4: Man hits you on the head and Homer says, that's
- 28:19Speaker 4: not funny. They now go off the air and crusty,
- 28:22Speaker 4: as I'm assuming many people, once the lights and cameras
- 28:24Speaker 4: are off, becomes a very different person.
- 28:26Speaker 2: To give those saving barns and one of those hats
- 28:29Speaker 2: and toys and whatever. Yeah, one can only imagine Oprah
- 28:32Speaker 2: saying you don't get a car, You don't get a car.
- 28:36Speaker 2: Great show, krusty, terrific.
- 28:38Speaker 1: We've got to make changes, big changes. These are your
- 28:41Speaker 1: ratings with young girls. Hey, my writers know how to
- 28:44Speaker 1: appeal the girls. They wouldn't be riders.
- 28:46Speaker 4: They said they're going to give him a female co host,
- 28:48Speaker 4: and he refused. He says, no, it's not going to happen.
- 28:50Speaker 4: And they said, well, we've got a reality show in order
- 28:51Speaker 4: to help replace you. Two American Isle references here in
- 28:54Speaker 4: this episode.
- 28:55Speaker 2: So a little bit.
- 28:56Speaker 4: Later on they say magical, he says, imagine American.
- 28:58Speaker 2: Idol without Paul or a doll.
- 29:00Speaker 4: Yeah, but it's amazing to me. I was saying to
- 29:03Speaker 4: Nicola recently, I cannot believe that I walked through cry
- 29:06Speaker 4: Village Local Reference, you know, local shopping plaza here in
- 29:09Speaker 4: Geelong about a week ago.
- 29:11Speaker 2: Slash danger zone. Yes it's not so bad anymore.
- 29:13Speaker 4: But yeah, walked through there and about a week ago
- 29:16Speaker 4: and it said coming soon, new season of Australian Idol.
- 29:19Speaker 2: I'm like, we're still doing this. Oh yeah, we're still
- 29:22Speaker 2: doing this. Twenty years later. I'm still doing it. But
- 29:24Speaker 2: all these there's a handful of concepts that keep getting
- 29:27Speaker 2: recycled and keep being sort of handballed from network to network.
- 29:31Speaker 2: Big Brother keeps coming back.
- 29:33Speaker 4: Yeah that quick that came and went fast, didn't it.
- 29:36Speaker 2: Well, yeah, but it'll be back again in like two
- 29:38Speaker 2: or three years, you know, and with for like fucking
- 29:39Speaker 2: six weeks or something this week this year. Yeah, but
- 29:42Speaker 2: likewise with the Idol, likewise with I guess, I guess
- 29:45Speaker 2: the voice. Yeah, the voice is definitely one of those
- 29:49Speaker 2: what's that the master singer? Oh yeah, we don't really
- 29:52Speaker 2: I think they're still going strong in the States. So
- 29:53Speaker 2: I think we had it for a little while and
- 29:55Speaker 2: now not as much as we used to.
- 29:56Speaker 4: Yeah, imported. Lindsay Loan is one of the Linzilnham as
- 29:59Speaker 4: a guest. Yeah, she was one of the judges.
- 30:01Speaker 2: Her and like Easy and someone else Kerry Big or something.
- 30:07Speaker 4: Jesus anyway, but they say we're going to be host
- 30:09Speaker 4: having a reality show to replace you as hey, hey, I'm
- 30:12Speaker 4: non union.
- 30:13Speaker 2: Then he agrees.
- 30:14Speaker 4: He says basically, please don't replace me, make me like
- 30:16Speaker 4: all the other crap in your network. And I just thought,
- 30:18Speaker 4: I can imagine a lot of other people have had
- 30:20Speaker 4: this meeting where they've said we need the change is
- 30:23Speaker 4: show and have gone no, they're or just replacing of like, okay,
- 30:26Speaker 4: then I'll do what you say, make me like all
- 30:28Speaker 4: the other crap in your network. Which to me, especially
- 30:30Speaker 4: in twenty twenty six, you watch these shows and they're
- 30:33Speaker 4: all the same. It's all the same. They look the same,
- 30:37Speaker 4: they get the same faces on there, they sound the same,
- 30:40Speaker 4: the template is the same. It's just reality shows are
- 30:43Speaker 4: all the exact same format.
- 30:44Speaker 2: Now very much that they're all about here, the journey
- 30:47Speaker 2: and the behind the scenes kind of vismatic happens. Dude.
- 30:51Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I mean because you're.
- 30:54Speaker 4: I'm not really spigging to the reality shows like the
- 30:56Speaker 4: maths and things I watch. We watch Highway Patrol and
- 31:00Speaker 4: Border SECU. We used to watch a bit, but I
- 31:01Speaker 4: don't really watch that. But you're big entiight night math
- 31:03Speaker 4: snack kind of stuff.
- 31:04Speaker 2: Yeah, we'll marry. The first Sight Australia has returned and yeah,
- 31:09Speaker 2: Louise and I watched, yeah, the first couple of episodes
- 31:12Speaker 2: the other night and it's like, well, look at the
- 31:14Speaker 2: formula is very obvious now it always has been, but
- 31:17Speaker 2: you know they're sort of trying to establish Oh there's
- 31:20Speaker 2: tension between these guys at the beginning. They don't like
- 31:22Speaker 2: each other, but you know, oh but he might be
- 31:24Speaker 2: a good guy and I think she might be a
- 31:25Speaker 2: bit of a princess. But she's got a point, so
- 31:27Speaker 2: to say, Like we can you can see the seams,
- 31:29Speaker 2: you can see what's what's going on here and even
- 31:32Speaker 2: stuff it's like, oh my god, the dramma. That's like, well,
- 31:35Speaker 2: clearly you've told you've given the gay best friend a
- 31:39Speaker 2: line and blow and just be outrageous.
- 31:42Speaker 1: No, worries it's mart hand to shine.
- 31:45Speaker 2: Yeah, So it happens all the time, and there's I'm
- 31:50Speaker 2: sure that when we're a line of blow be outrageous.
- 31:55Speaker 2: We've been very we've been very fortunate talking to the
- 31:59Speaker 2: brain strung behind the Simpsons as of late, we've been
- 32:01Speaker 2: talking to guys like Josh and Bill, Yeah, and and
- 32:04Speaker 2: Mike and these are all first name basis now because
- 32:07Speaker 2: they're aund buddies. Mark Kirkle is coming on, Matt Selmon's
- 32:09Speaker 2: coming on soon. Yes, say that he is busy other people,
- 32:16Speaker 2: but they'll say, how you know. There's people come tune
- 32:20Speaker 2: into shows for some degree of want, a better degree
- 32:23Speaker 2: of predictability, but also some degree of comforts, like I
- 32:26Speaker 2: know how this is going to work.
- 32:27Speaker 4: Yeah, is the sense of making themselves feel better about
- 32:29Speaker 4: themselves as well?
- 32:30Speaker 2: That certainly.
- 32:31Speaker 4: But then Marge has a new frying machine, a fry girl.
- 32:34Speaker 4: She wants to make some donuts and she makes Sprinkles
- 32:38Speaker 4: donuts for bar. He says it's no violet, and she says,
- 32:40Speaker 4: well don't well, don't eat it, eat it. And Homan
- 32:42Speaker 4: then ponders about the donuts that are at work, because
- 32:44Speaker 4: apparently they're better the ones in the pink boxes and
- 32:46Speaker 4: he's talking about them.
- 32:46Speaker 2: He drives all the.
- 32:47Speaker 4: Way to work, drives through the gates, and the guy says,
- 32:49Speaker 4: what don't you try to stop him, and he goes
- 32:50Speaker 4: I did once, and the guy's got no arm.
- 32:53Speaker 2: I didn't put this as a favorite moment. I actually
- 32:55Speaker 2: kind of like this line. I thought it worked about
- 32:58Speaker 2: the square masculine edges of the boxes bumping up against
- 33:01Speaker 2: the rounded feminine curves of the don that's not bad.
- 33:04Speaker 2: I kind of like that idea. I like that concept.
- 33:08Speaker 2: Home and then finds there's no pink box though in
- 33:10Speaker 2: the what do you call it? The well, then on
- 33:12Speaker 2: the table the lunch rooms, he caught. Yeah, what a
- 33:17Speaker 2: pink box? What's going on?
- 33:19Speaker 1: I'm afraid to daily donuts no more.
- 33:22Speaker 2: You cannil.
- 33:24Speaker 1: Mister Roosevelt's new deal starts working.
- 33:26Speaker 2: This country still in a depression.
- 33:28Speaker 1: I'm spending a fortune on atams, and we have to
- 33:30Speaker 1: cut costs. But we have way more expensive unnecessaries than donuts.
- 33:34Speaker 2: Yeah, like the ceiling furniture are all the joke id badges.
- 33:38Speaker 2: We order no donuts now, donuts.
- 33:42Speaker 4: Exactly that you probably could have had excellent there kind
- 33:47Speaker 4: of exactly is better. Yeah, Krusty then begrudgingly introduces Princess Penelope,
- 33:53Speaker 4: who immediately just sweeps every little girl off her feet,
- 33:55Speaker 4: doesn't she.
- 33:56Speaker 2: Now this kind of was a bit of a bait
- 33:59Speaker 2: and switch from me because I was expecting that, Oh, okay,
- 34:02Speaker 2: she's on the Crusty show. She's Oh, she's a perfect princess,
- 34:05Speaker 2: and then all of a sudden she burps or something,
- 34:08Speaker 2: or fats or whatever. It's just more low bowner comedy,
- 34:11Speaker 2: but in the guise of a princess. But no, she's
- 34:13Speaker 2: just a princess doing princess things.
- 34:18Speaker 4: And as the father of a young girl, people often
- 34:21Speaker 4: say to her because you, holy sh she has a
- 34:22Speaker 4: little lipsticks and things like that. She dresses like princess dresses.
- 34:26Speaker 4: We've had a couple of people say you shouldn't push
- 34:28Speaker 4: a girl stereotypes under her, and I go, first of all,
- 34:32Speaker 4: you don't have a daughter, And second of all, do
- 34:34Speaker 4: you think I'm pushing these things? She's just she just
- 34:37Speaker 4: enjoys it. Why am I going to say no, this,
- 34:41Speaker 4: this makes you fall into the stereotype. You can't do that.
- 34:44Speaker 2: She fucking wants the very addressy to wear address. That's
- 34:46Speaker 2: absolutely the case. Look, I don't want to sound all
- 34:48Speaker 2: sort of Internet philosopher slash, you know, biological determinists or whatever.
- 34:54Speaker 2: Like well, now the saying says this, but I've heard
- 34:58Speaker 2: so much Anagotal Evans and red so much sort of
- 35:00Speaker 2: data about you. Let if you put a bunch of
- 35:03Speaker 2: boys out to play, yeah, one's gonna have a broken arm. Yeah.
- 35:08Speaker 2: And also you know three of them are going to
- 35:09Speaker 2: pick up sticks and pretend they're gun. You could you
- 35:13Speaker 2: could have been showing them Princess Penelope from day one.
- 35:15Speaker 2: You could have been blasting that ship to them when
- 35:17Speaker 2: they're in the womb throwing mud pies at each other
- 35:19Speaker 2: and that. Yeah, they that's sort of like biological that's
- 35:23Speaker 2: just innate. Yeah. And likewise, with girls and princess I'm
- 35:28Speaker 2: not saying that everything is like that, but certainly there
- 35:31Speaker 2: are large parts that are like that.
- 35:33Speaker 4: But as we're saying here, so she's Princess Penelope. Lisa
- 35:35Speaker 4: at first isn't swept away until she sees the unicorn.
- 35:38Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 35:38Speaker 4: And of course Bart and Milhouse don't like her at
- 35:40Speaker 4: all at moso. The guys are very sad.
- 35:43Speaker 2: It just strikes me as so odd that, look, this
- 35:47Speaker 2: is me playing real world logic to this episode of
- 35:49Speaker 2: the symptoms, Like I wanted to just create the Princess
- 35:52Speaker 2: Penelope show like Backdoor Pilot.
- 35:55Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, well that's what the Muppets That special is
- 35:58Speaker 4: going to be tomorrow. Yeah yeah.
- 36:01Speaker 2: And now our new friend, Princess Banalobe and she comes
- 36:03Speaker 2: on like five minutes in. It's like, and if I
- 36:05Speaker 2: like that kids, do you an end of the Princes's
- 36:06Speaker 2: Vanillai show right after the Krusty Show, It's like, yeah,
- 36:09Speaker 2: double where me? It's like, and the kids will the
- 36:11Speaker 2: boys will be like time for me to go play guns? Well, yeah,
- 36:14Speaker 2: Lisa's gonna be like, yay more.
- 36:16Speaker 4: I had that in my notes. I didn't expand on
- 36:17Speaker 4: it earlier, but when I was saying why would you
- 36:19Speaker 4: scare away all the boys and just try and get
- 36:21Speaker 4: the girls, It's like, why don't you just have a
- 36:22Speaker 4: show for girls and a show for boys?
- 36:24Speaker 2: Yeah, kleing them both of them, and then O Casi
- 36:27Speaker 2: had crossovers where it's like, guess what, we're more I
- 36:29Speaker 2: like them.
- 36:29Speaker 4: We're not because because the boys audience wasn't bad for Krusty,
- 36:32Speaker 4: just the girls audience. Well, then create if the Princess's
- 36:34Speaker 4: working just give.
- 36:35Speaker 2: Her own show. This is poor TV stuff.
- 36:39Speaker 4: And there's a there' another really poor marketing concept coming up,
- 36:42Speaker 4: which I'll get to it, and it ruins the gag, but
- 36:44Speaker 4: it's stupid in real world logic, as you said before.
- 36:48Speaker 4: So as we're saying though Mo's, the guys are all
- 36:51Speaker 4: sad there, and then we get Gator McCall, who is
- 36:53Speaker 4: a scout. He wants to buy them around, and Mo's like,
- 36:56Speaker 4: what does buy around me? Which we're seeing we never
- 36:59Speaker 4: buy means, but yeah, he looks it up. Oh, that's
- 37:01Speaker 4: gonna be good for me, and he says he's a
- 37:03Speaker 4: corporate recruiter looking for nuclear power plant workers. So he's
- 37:06Speaker 4: recruiting these guys. Why who knows? Why was he in
- 37:09Speaker 4: Mo's whatever? Doesn't we do know? It should have been
- 37:13Speaker 4: him approaching them at the car park when they got
- 37:15Speaker 4: to their cars, right, or they could have been walked
- 37:17Speaker 4: to the cars and there's like a little card on
- 37:18Speaker 4: their car.
- 37:19Speaker 2: Correct, Yes, good idea.
- 37:24Speaker 4: Late twenty is too late with this idea. So the
- 37:27Speaker 4: studio audience are now all girls at at Krusty show.
- 37:30Speaker 2: I just love it because then you've got that little
- 37:32Speaker 2: sort of mystery. Do do do you do when they look, wow,
- 37:35Speaker 2: a mysterious card. Yes, it was like, oh this is fancy. Yeah.
- 37:40Speaker 4: It could be a WILLI Walker parody where it's like
- 37:41Speaker 4: mister slug'sworth comes up and he's like, oh, guys, I've
- 37:44Speaker 4: got a really cool place. But the studio audience at
- 37:50Speaker 4: Krusty Show are now all girls. Don't use cardboard cutouts anymore.
- 37:54Speaker 4: See that's the thing. They weren't saying that Krusty's ratings
- 37:56Speaker 4: were bad. It's just the ratings with the girls were bad.
- 37:58Speaker 4: But now they're saying that the boys weren't there. He's
- 38:00Speaker 4: got cardboard cutouts.
- 38:01Speaker 2: That's the thing. That's when you do a bit of
- 38:03Speaker 2: you know, marketing speaks satura. It's like we found the
- 38:06Speaker 2: most popular and rising demo as teen girls, and I
- 38:09Speaker 2: was you know, twin girls ten to twelve. You know
- 38:12Speaker 2: they've got the money is, they've got money to burn,
- 38:14Speaker 2: and we need to appuild to them. Then you have
- 38:17Speaker 2: like Crusty in a dress for like one scene trying
- 38:20Speaker 2: to appeal to girls like it doesn't worry how we're
- 38:22Speaker 2: hiring Princess Penelope. Yeah, there we go fixed it.
- 38:25Speaker 4: Or it's like someone dressed as a girl and they
- 38:28Speaker 4: hold up a qustion for Krusty and a custom sideha
- 38:30Speaker 4: mail wearing it correct.
- 38:31Speaker 2: Yeah, because Krusty refuses to do it.
- 38:34Speaker 4: But anyway, so Krusty is annoyed though he says Dutch
- 38:37Speaker 4: Masters is going to drop them like a hot potato
- 38:38Speaker 4: because they're appealing to a male dominated cigar, so male
- 38:42Speaker 4: dominated ar.
- 38:42Speaker 2: I guess we've also missed a bit where I think
- 38:44Speaker 2: you've got bart and Millhouse watching on the TV. I
- 38:48Speaker 2: didn't think this was a bad line about Lisa. Oh yeah,
- 38:50Speaker 2: well it's the first girl's ruined sex in the city.
- 38:53Speaker 2: Now this Oh did say that he does the aka.
- 38:55Speaker 2: But and this is also with Barton. You can see
- 38:57Speaker 2: the strap on the unicorn. She's just give you this.
- 38:59Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, yeah. Now there was the whole thing about
- 39:01Speaker 2: male nerds who are like keep women out of our
- 39:04Speaker 2: species and all that kind of stuff, So I guess
- 39:05Speaker 2: this could be sort of talking about that. I mean,
- 39:08Speaker 2: it's a good line about sex and the city as well,
- 39:10Speaker 2: because I mean the line so many people say about
- 39:14Speaker 2: sex and the city is like, I know, this has
- 39:15Speaker 2: got four men and a leader, but these are essentially
- 39:17Speaker 2: four gay men.
- 39:18Speaker 4: Yeah, we've discussed this before Yeah, yeah.
- 39:20Speaker 2: And I mean adddlely canvas Bush and it was the
- 39:22Speaker 2: writer of the Sex and the City book and Colum
- 39:24Speaker 2: and all that kind of stuff. But when it came
- 39:25Speaker 2: to the show, it was created by gay men. It
- 39:27Speaker 2: was created by Darren Starr and I think Michael Patrick
- 39:29Speaker 2: King it was one of the drivers behind it. And
- 39:32Speaker 2: it has a very gay male sensibility in terms of
- 39:34Speaker 2: its female characters. Yeah, even though I mean it does
- 39:37Speaker 2: have a female and feminist viewporn engagement, it also feels
- 39:41Speaker 2: very kind of like I think I know a lot
- 39:43Speaker 2: of gay dudes to talk like this.
- 39:44Speaker 4: We just start a Sex and the Potty show.
- 39:46Speaker 2: Why not? Because the world needs too middle aged men
- 39:50Speaker 2: talking about Sex and the City.
- 39:51Speaker 4: Yeah, there is the only one reason I unted to
- 39:54Speaker 4: Sex and the City when I was like twelve year old.
- 39:55Speaker 2: Dan da can control.
- 40:00Speaker 4: The kids, the audience. They're not interested in Krusty's standard that.
- 40:02Speaker 4: I just want to see Princess Penelope flying on a
- 40:05Speaker 4: horse or whatever on a unicorn. She drops some pixie dust.
- 40:08Speaker 4: Christy says, bring this stuffing, can't be good for me.
- 40:10Speaker 4: Custod him blooding a cigarette. Then Bart says that you
- 40:13Speaker 4: know Krusty has become the lowest form of life, a sidekick,
- 40:16Speaker 4: and Milhouse praises him because you know he's a sidekick,
- 40:19Speaker 4: and that's the joke. Homan then arrives to pick up
- 40:21Speaker 4: Lisa from the studio and Bart says, this show sucks me.
- 40:24Speaker 4: I'm not going to be going in Why did women
- 40:27Speaker 4: ruin everything? The Army Fantastic Four? Think of how Awesman
- 40:30Speaker 4: recond Idol would be if it was just Simon and Randy.
- 40:32Speaker 4: I'm like, I don't know, it would be no. As
- 40:36Speaker 4: we're saying earlier, you can say you say that now,
- 40:38Speaker 4: but when you're older, you'll just think it.
- 40:40Speaker 2: Simon Cowe recently was in the news because he said
- 40:43Speaker 2: something like he's.
- 40:44Speaker 4: Worthing like six d mill bucks, like his sixth face.
- 40:47Speaker 4: Oh god, what happened? I don't know what the hell
- 40:50Speaker 4: is going on there.
- 40:50Speaker 2: You think it'd be worth that much you get you know, decent,
- 40:53Speaker 2: decent cosmetic surgery. But he said something like, yeah, my
- 40:58Speaker 2: kids are not getting any of this. I'm not getting
- 41:00Speaker 2: any of this money. Yeah, because it's like, well, I
- 41:03Speaker 2: grew up with that money, you know. Was he going
- 41:05Speaker 2: to spend it or was he going to donate. I
- 41:06Speaker 2: think it's going to donate it, like, you know, the
- 41:09Speaker 2: way they'll have a work ethic.
- 41:10Speaker 4: It's like a fucking but this is the thing, right,
- 41:13Speaker 4: I see that logic, Right, so other kids have to
- 41:15Speaker 4: earn anything. But my mentality is your kids are probably
- 41:19Speaker 4: sacrificed having a dad because you've been so busy with
- 41:21Speaker 4: your work, and now all the sacrifices they've given to
- 41:25Speaker 4: not having not that they've done any sacrifice, but they've
- 41:28Speaker 4: missed out and having a day because you've been so
- 41:29Speaker 4: busy doing your job. And now you're saying all of
- 41:32Speaker 4: that and you're not getting any of the money. Like
- 41:34Speaker 4: the whole point you fucking do that is to build
- 41:36Speaker 4: a foundation for your future kids and kids to have
- 41:39Speaker 4: something to live off. Look, it's not a bad idea
- 41:41Speaker 4: in theory, much like communism, but instead, simon, why don't
- 41:46Speaker 4: you say, my kids are going to come into a
- 41:48Speaker 4: lot of money. It's my responsibility now to teach them
- 41:51Speaker 4: how to use that effectively, whether it's to grow it,
- 41:54Speaker 4: whether it's to maintain it, or whether it's to use
- 41:56Speaker 4: it for the benefit of everyone including themselves, as opposed to.
- 41:59Speaker 2: Just they're not getting it. They're not getting it because
- 42:02Speaker 2: you know I grew up that way. Fuck off. Yeah,
- 42:06Speaker 2: it's not they're they.
- 42:08Speaker 4: Were born into a wealthy family, correct. Yeah, I mean
- 42:11Speaker 4: if they become brats and so b but they're good kids,
- 42:14Speaker 4: why should they for kid in your money?
- 42:15Speaker 2: Yeah? And if they're not good kids, guess what's on you?
- 42:17Speaker 2: Some cow? Yes exactly, maybe if you went if you're around.
- 42:20Speaker 2: But yeah, I mean, what Bart's saying here goes back
- 42:22Speaker 2: to what I was saying earlier about the whole Sex
- 42:24Speaker 2: and the City thing about, Yeah, you've got a bunch
- 42:25Speaker 2: of guys and women ruin everything. Keep them out of
- 42:27Speaker 2: the army, keep them out of the Fantastic four. We
- 42:30Speaker 2: want Sue Storm and the fantastic that we do.
- 42:32Speaker 4: Indeed, yes, but the girls are now all busy getting
- 42:34Speaker 4: signatures from Princess Penelope, and Bart sees this is the
- 42:37Speaker 4: moment sees the crusty merchtore right, goes inside and it's
- 42:41Speaker 4: filled with Princess Penelope stuff. He says, where's the krusty
- 42:43Speaker 4: merchan He says, it's through that magic door, which is
- 42:45Speaker 4: actually the dumbster.
- 42:46Speaker 2: Right, thank you wise.
- 42:47Speaker 4: Terrible marketing. Because if I'm a girl and I'm at
- 42:51Speaker 4: the studio, and I want to buy a bunch of
- 42:55Speaker 4: Princess Penelope merchandise. I'm seeing that sign that store. I'm
- 42:58Speaker 4: not going in there.
- 42:59Speaker 2: That's that's Christmas. We'll cross the shit. Why would you
- 43:01Speaker 2: have Krusty at the front if it's all Prince Pinelopi inside?
- 43:04Speaker 2: You know what I mean.
- 43:05Speaker 4: It's just I know what you mean, terrible marketing. But
- 43:07Speaker 4: it finds crusty outside. He's eating cheap gin sandwiches.
- 43:11Speaker 1: Crusty, Snap out of it. You're crusty the clown. What
- 43:16Speaker 1: of Look Magazine's hundred Most Promising Clowns of nineteen fifty eight.
- 43:19Speaker 1: A lot of suicides in that group, funny suicides, but
- 43:24Speaker 1: still my days over.
- 43:26Speaker 4: Kid, And but says, look whose name's on that poster.
- 43:29Speaker 4: And as he's saying that, they put a Princess Penelope
- 43:32Speaker 4: poster over the top of it. They're throwing the crusty
- 43:34Speaker 4: standees out and they confuse Krusty for a standye while
- 43:36Speaker 4: they throw him in the dumpster. And he says, this is
- 43:37Speaker 4: it and it's time to make a difference here, and
- 43:40Speaker 4: the dumpster starts rolling away and says, why do clown
- 43:42Speaker 4: things always happen to clowns. We're now at Capital City.
- 43:45Speaker 4: The confusing thing for me, right, but Capital City is
- 43:48Speaker 4: the spelling of capital. They can't make their mind up
- 43:50Speaker 4: whether it's with an A or oh, okay, then yes,
- 43:52Speaker 4: sometimes it's oh, sometimes it's as an a here as well,
- 43:55Speaker 4: But I've always known it as the O Capital City
- 43:58Speaker 4: Nuclear Plant, the clean energy there is except once in
- 44:01Speaker 4: a while. But then look out and he introduces Gary
- 44:04Speaker 4: Larsen from the fast Side. Yeah, from the past side. Yeah,
- 44:08Speaker 4: so he's tells him to mop up an instant classic folks.
- 44:10Speaker 4: He's the guy the recruiters giving a tour to Lenny,
- 44:13Speaker 4: Karl and Homer and the line wouldn't want to see
- 44:16Speaker 4: that on his X ray. So I don't really know
- 44:17Speaker 4: much about Gary Lason. You want to get to the
- 44:18Speaker 4: listeners who may not know as well.
- 44:20Speaker 2: Yeah, the past, well, the fast side of just generally
- 44:22Speaker 2: these one panel cartoons that I don't know how they
- 44:27Speaker 2: skew would take on one liverary. They're not surreal, they're
- 44:30Speaker 2: just kind of a little bit weird, you know. It's
- 44:33Speaker 2: kind of like necessarily wouldn't get the joke, but it's
- 44:36Speaker 2: like I've got to think a little bit to get
- 44:38Speaker 2: this joke, it's not, but on Boom, it's more like,
- 44:40Speaker 2: that's odd. It's an odd way of looking at the world.
- 44:42Speaker 2: Oh yeah, that was essentially it.

- 45:10Speaker 4: touching on early, this is where you see her on
- 45:12Speaker 4: the phone using her Southern accent. Wasn't well long Island
- 45:16Speaker 4: long long, of course, long Island accent. Crusty bursts in
- 45:20Speaker 4: and says, I'm the scene still here. You're just the
- 45:22Speaker 4: reason people tune in. And this is where she admits
- 45:24Speaker 4: that she loves him. She's just all over him. She's
- 45:26Speaker 4: loved him since she was twelve years old when she
- 45:28Speaker 4: was watching him on WDQT, which had the fat station
- 45:31Speaker 4: manager great guy, because it was her dad and she
- 45:33Speaker 4: says she had the Crusty club ring. She says, well,
- 45:35Speaker 4: she wasn't very popular at school because she was more
- 45:37Speaker 4: beautiful and talented than everybody else, and she gives them
- 45:39Speaker 4: a big old kiss. This we're pretty dirty gay here
- 45:42Speaker 4: they're stuck into the story with the flower and the
- 45:44Speaker 4: water squirting out of the low. I was like, not that.
- 45:48Speaker 4: Also a good line from Krusty there was like, I
- 45:50Speaker 4: work like I drink alone, Yes, because mister teeny's watching
- 45:54Speaker 4: him though, because he's only there. He's putting on to
- 45:56Speaker 4: his side when he's drinking. Now we cut back and
- 45:58Speaker 4: Crusty has turned a new if. It's now the Krusty
- 46:00Speaker 4: and Princess Panalope smoochy Pooh, I love you Our no laughs,
- 46:04Speaker 4: just hugs and cuddles, and the boys are like, what
- 46:07Speaker 4: the hell is going on here?
- 46:08Speaker 2: Kind of goes back to what Marge was saying earlier.
- 46:09Speaker 2: But I think, yeah, comedy is good when people are
- 46:11Speaker 2: nice to each other.
- 46:12Speaker 4: Yes, and Millhouse says, don't worry mister teen He has
- 46:16Speaker 4: a flaming arrow and turns out he's just doing it
- 46:18Speaker 4: to shoot a love heart fire, and it says French,
- 46:21Speaker 4: what does it say? It says to Lamore, which is
- 46:23Speaker 4: love forever, Love forever in the French diction, Oh man,
- 46:27Speaker 4: what is going on here? And he sings a song
- 46:30Speaker 4: to the parody of this soul man. But it's basically
- 46:33Speaker 4: I've finally got a girlfriend under thirty three. DiCaprio is
- 46:38Speaker 4: twenty five, isn't he?
- 46:39Speaker 2: Yeah, although apparently his current girlfriend has just doned twenty six.
- 46:43Speaker 4: No way, time a day's in number.
- 46:46Speaker 2: Or maybe the cycle has been broken.
- 46:48Speaker 4: Maybe yes, and Lisa I love it also too. I
- 46:52Speaker 4: mean it's horrible, but it doesn't even hide away from it.
- 46:55Speaker 4: It's like everyone says, it's just a rule. It's like,
- 46:57Speaker 4: that's the joke. That's the joke. He's got a rule.
- 46:58Speaker 2: It's like, no, but like he seems to stick to
- 47:00Speaker 2: this rule. Oh yeah, they always say. It's like, oh,
- 47:06Speaker 2: the age of which you become famous is kind of
- 47:07Speaker 2: the age at which you are stuck. Okay, you become
- 47:11Speaker 2: frozen them. That's why my so many child stars just
- 47:13Speaker 2: to become a real mess.
- 47:14Speaker 4: Okay, yeah, because their maturity levels never yeah, okay, fair enough.
- 47:19Speaker 4: But then Lisa sings the song as well, but he
- 47:21Speaker 4: unplugs the TV. He's just not a fan of.
- 47:23Speaker 2: This at all.
- 47:24Speaker 4: Lisaer gives a talk at school that Princess ann and
- 47:26Speaker 4: all the girls now dresses princesses doing all their talks,
- 47:28Speaker 4: and this is where we get the moment that gets
- 47:30Speaker 4: memed a lot now, especially Abound made the fourth of
- 47:32Speaker 4: Ralph dressed as Princess Lea, saying I'm a star Wars.
- 47:36Speaker 2: I did not like it.
- 47:37Speaker 4: I didn't like it.
- 47:37Speaker 2: Why not? I just feel it's more dumb ass Ralph stuff.
- 47:41Speaker 2: I'm getting really sick of the way they use Ralph.
- 47:43Speaker 4: Ralph's just got no substance at all, hasn't he. Yeah,
- 47:46Speaker 4: he's just there to say something stupid. Yeah, but it's
- 47:48Speaker 4: been like that since since. I mean they really they
- 47:52Speaker 4: dumbed him down to this level really early on. Yeah,
- 47:55Speaker 4: I'm talking like maybe like season eight nine. He was
- 47:58Speaker 4: he was already at this point.
- 47:59Speaker 2: Yeah, long away from Chu Chu choose me.
- 48:02Speaker 4: Yes, Indeed, the guys are now getting massages and they're
- 48:06Speaker 4: getting free sushi through the face hole, just having the
- 48:08Speaker 4: time of their lives. Why Smithers there?
- 48:11Speaker 2: What have I written? Wait? What the Smither's doing that? Yeah?
- 48:14Speaker 4: This isn't just some random health club. This is surely
- 48:16Speaker 4: the power Plants health Club. Right, Yeah, I was so
- 48:19Speaker 4: confused by that, Like, why Smithers there? I thought it
- 48:21Speaker 4: was going to be I thought the undercut when I
- 48:24Speaker 4: saw Smithers, I thought it was going to be, Oh
- 48:25Speaker 4: my god, the recruited Smithers too. And he doesn't want
- 48:28Speaker 4: them to know because this is the thing they don't know,
- 48:33Speaker 4: so that they think that Smithers doesn't know they're being recruited,
- 48:35Speaker 4: and the Smithers would not know that them are being recruits.
- 48:38Speaker 4: That would actually be a fun story of them trying
- 48:40Speaker 4: to avoid each other.
- 48:42Speaker 2: Yeah, classic Shenanigans. Classic.
- 48:47Speaker 4: There was definitely an entire episode with this story, I think,
- 48:50Speaker 4: if you wanted it to be.
- 48:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 48:52Speaker 4: But then he called mister Burns and says, the heart
- 48:53Speaker 4: of our tugger War team, even though it's the year
- 48:55Speaker 4: that's going to be, they're going to be scattered. So
- 48:58Speaker 4: he says, the reason they're doing this is because they've
- 48:59Speaker 4: they've cut back on donuts. He says, I think what
- 49:02Speaker 4: I can do, and this is why that's what I
- 49:03Speaker 4: hate about Burns.
- 49:04Speaker 2: He thinks, and he.
- 49:05Speaker 4: Rubs his head, shaves his head in, and then blows
- 49:07Speaker 4: it back out again by going I'm like stupid.
- 49:11Speaker 2: I hate that.
- 49:12Speaker 4: It's one of my biggest pet peeves of the Simpsons
- 49:14Speaker 4: is the first shit with his body doing shit that
- 49:16Speaker 4: I shouldn't. The boys are now hating the new love
- 49:19Speaker 4: Field show and Krusty is sick of this woman though
- 49:22Speaker 4: he's sick of this woman not being married to him.
- 49:24Speaker 4: So will you be my princess bride?
- 49:26Speaker 2: O that line? Princess bride?
- 49:27Speaker 4: She obviously agrees, and then Milhasse says, you know, it's
- 49:30Speaker 4: easy for a wedding to go wrong and buckets an idea,
- 49:32Speaker 4: and he proposes that they team up to ruin the wedding.
- 49:35Speaker 2: This is all.
- 49:36Speaker 4: Happening so fast. Let's call my mum together. Now, the
- 49:38Speaker 4: guys are leaving the power planted Homer leaves before he
- 49:42Speaker 4: has a melt down himself. Before we get too emotional,
- 49:44Speaker 4: Karl says, if I didn't have to work here, we
- 49:46Speaker 4: would have been friends, and then he turns off the power,
- 49:48Speaker 4: which turns off the power for the city, turns it
- 49:49Speaker 4: back on. Then Burns is in the car park and
- 49:51Speaker 4: he pleads to them. He offers him a donut as
- 49:53Speaker 4: a going away present, and an old fashioned one made
- 49:56Speaker 4: the old fashioned way with dose sweetened with Cuban sugar
- 49:58Speaker 4: from pre Batista plantation. Then it's deep fried in the
- 50:01Speaker 4: tallow of three different animals, two of which are now extinct.
- 50:04Speaker 2: He's really selling it. It made me feel like a donut
- 50:06Speaker 2: I won't lie. I am just not a donut guy. Yeah,
- 50:09Speaker 2: you know. He just some things you love and something
- 50:11Speaker 2: you don't.
- 50:12Speaker 4: I've never I've never eaten a donut and gone that
- 50:15Speaker 4: was fucking amazing. I've always I enjoy them, but not
- 50:18Speaker 4: enough to want more.
- 50:20Speaker 2: The really good donuts that I've had have been good
- 50:23Speaker 2: enough to make me go on the search for like
- 50:26Speaker 2: continuing that high. And there haven't been that many, but
- 50:28Speaker 2: the ones that I have been really good. Do you
- 50:30Speaker 2: prefer filled ones or filed Okay, jam donuts are great,
- 50:35Speaker 2: hot jam on a cold winternight, absolutely, yeah, get a
- 50:38Speaker 2: bag of the footy.
- 50:38Speaker 4: Yeah, the fresh ones, absolutely, straight out of the deep fryer.
- 50:41Speaker 2: One of the dripping on your fingers when you when
- 50:43Speaker 2: you're holding it. Unfortunately, we have reached oh maybe not
- 50:47Speaker 2: so much now, but there certainly was a stagehere. It's
- 50:50Speaker 2: like extreme donuts where it's like with burgers as well.
- 50:54Speaker 2: You know, sometimes you'll see it's like that burger shouldn't
- 50:57Speaker 2: be tall, they should be wide. Yeah yeah, because I
- 51:01Speaker 2: can't eat it like that. Yeah, but where they have
- 51:04Speaker 2: to have two hands on the side like that. Yeah yeah, yeah,
- 51:07Speaker 2: that's that's fantastic. But and like I was, we've done,
- 51:10Speaker 2: it's like, oh, you're putting too much stuff on top
- 51:11Speaker 2: all you're feeling it with too much stuff. And when
- 51:13Speaker 2: I take a book there's too many variants now as well,
- 51:16Speaker 2: well know they can never be up there and stand. Yeah.
- 51:18Speaker 4: Well, it's like I'm trying to say, fancied it up
- 51:20Speaker 4: too much. It's called like beer, all these craft beer.
- 51:22Speaker 2: Isn't that right?
- 51:23Speaker 4: Because I went to we went out for a birthday
- 51:25Speaker 4: on Friday night and my old man and happy birthday
- 51:28Speaker 4: to my dad, Happy birthday to patron Saint Acadamen as
- 51:30Speaker 4: well recently.
- 51:31Speaker 2: His birthday props.
- 51:32Speaker 4: But we're out the pub and dad's getting some beer
- 51:35Speaker 4: and he's like, I was gonna have two pots of beer.
- 51:37Speaker 4: And the guy's like, what beer do you want and
- 51:38Speaker 4: he's like, no, just just normal beer. And he goes,
- 51:40Speaker 4: We've got this one. This one is a and he's like,
- 51:42Speaker 4: I just want a beer? Can I just get a beer?
- 51:45Speaker 2: Two words Culton Draft.
- 51:46Speaker 4: Yes, yeah, just give me a beer. And he's like,
- 51:48Speaker 4: but do you want to pale al?
- 51:49Speaker 2: Do you want this? It's like, I just want a beer.
- 51:52Speaker 2: Where'd you go? It was redacted if you like, but
- 51:56Speaker 2: tell me it was Buckley's. Okay, I wouldn't expect from Buckley, No,
- 52:00Speaker 2: I know, but they didn't have Carlton drafts on tap.
- 52:03Speaker 2: I yeah, it's just feels bizarre. Ye fail. Yeah. I
- 52:08Speaker 2: was like, there's gonna be.
- 52:09Speaker 4: There's still a generation of men out there that just
- 52:11Speaker 4: want either VB or Culton Draft correct. Yeah, and that's fine.
- 52:16Speaker 4: It's like you doesn't have to be low carved this
- 52:17Speaker 4: and I just want a beer.
- 52:20Speaker 2: We had a barbecue the other day at at Popcorn
- 52:22Speaker 2: gym oh before Oh, it's just you know, you guys
- 52:26Speaker 2: been working out a barbie. But someone dug deep into
- 52:29Speaker 2: the ars can pulled out like a cannon. But it
- 52:31Speaker 2: was like, is that a hot tap time machine? Did
- 52:33Speaker 2: you pull that out of nineteen seventy four? Because that's
- 52:36Speaker 2: what it looked like, a can of VB from nineteen
- 52:38Speaker 2: seventy four. We were all instantly saying, oh, Thursday, it's
- 52:40Speaker 2: a big coldby because there were so many sort of
- 52:43Speaker 2: like not boutique beers around it. But yeah, you're right.
- 52:45Speaker 2: It's like I guarantee did anyone drink it? He's an xpa.
- 52:47Speaker 2: Oh no, Maca had it.
- 52:48Speaker 4: I was going to tell you there's like there's three
- 52:49Speaker 4: people I can tell you probably drink it.
- 52:50Speaker 2: He's one of them.
- 52:51Speaker 4: If I won't say the names, but if I Freak
- 52:54Speaker 4: was still there, he would ad it or Doggy.
- 52:58Speaker 2: Well Maca got this one. Yeah, there we go.
- 53:00Speaker 4: So Brockwan is now discussing the various famous celebrity couples
- 53:04Speaker 4: at the time. So, I know Brand Jelina, but Queen Latifa, Like,
- 53:08Speaker 4: what is Alex Rodriguez?
- 53:09Speaker 2: Who it is like Queen Latifa?
- 53:12Speaker 4: Roddy said, it sounds like a rod Yeah, and it
- 53:14Speaker 4: looks like you're wanting a baseball uniform in the picture.
- 53:16Speaker 2: Well, yeah, he's a baseballer. So but I could be
- 53:19Speaker 2: here's the thing. Yeah, I assumed it was common knowledge.
- 53:22Speaker 2: I'm pretty sure that Queen Latifa is gay. Okay, And
- 53:26Speaker 2: but here's here's something though. Apparently, back in two thousand
- 53:29Speaker 2: and one, Alex Rodriguez promised.
- 53:33Speaker 4: She's never publicly labeled her sexuality. Apparently, okay, she's been
- 53:36Speaker 4: in a long term relationship with Ebony Nichols since twenty thirteen.
- 53:38Speaker 4: Has an increasingly referenced her partner of family in public,
- 53:41Speaker 4: including thanking her at the twenty twenty one be Et
- 53:43Speaker 4: Awards event.
- 53:45Speaker 2: You go, Queen yes A Rod recently recently disappointed rapper
- 53:50Speaker 2: Queen Latifa when he promised each op at her birthday
- 53:52Speaker 2: party and then skipped it. Oh, this sounds like Elliott
- 53:55Speaker 2: and Holly behaviors. It you're going to make birthday Bertie
- 54:00Speaker 2: ah Man.
- 54:00Speaker 4: Okay, let's Queen the Teeth fort apparently, Well, let's join.
- 54:03Speaker 2: Let's there's one more to add to the list. Chrostelope
- 54:06Speaker 2: christ Allopey.
- 54:07Speaker 4: Yes, it's Krusty's fifteenth marriage and her first. For her
- 54:10Speaker 4: she's not actually a princess. Her real name is Penelope
- 54:12Speaker 4: mount Batton Habsburg Howen Zolan Mulan Pocahontas.
- 54:17Speaker 2: Okay, I guess that's the joke. Yep.
- 54:21Speaker 4: Now it's time for the wedding at the country club.
- 54:24Speaker 4: There's got the guy dresses up as a horse like
- 54:27Speaker 4: the head and the ass, and they separate and sit
- 54:28Speaker 4: on the other side of the of the wedding. Then
- 54:31Speaker 4: we have his so Krusty's dad is the rabbi he
- 54:33Speaker 4: hid at the wedding, says the wedding between the Jew
- 54:36Speaker 4: and the Congregationalist. That's a real thing, as he says,
- 54:39Speaker 4: But the whole thing seems to be that we don't
- 54:42Speaker 4: see him say this, but like, Krusty's dad doesn't approve
- 54:45Speaker 4: of this wedding, but it's like, let's continue with this
- 54:47Speaker 4: mockery and then they dance and happy when their wedding
- 54:49Speaker 4: doesn't work and things that. Yeah, but Bart has now
- 54:52Speaker 4: got rid of teeny. He's now going to be the
- 54:53Speaker 4: ring boy. And he introduces Holy Hippie, who was his
- 54:56Speaker 4: first wife. He wouldn't let her watch the moon landing
- 54:58Speaker 4: because he was jealous of Armstrong. And he shows the
- 55:01Speaker 4: last wife, which is Eartha Kit and she recorded this
- 55:04Speaker 4: before her untommely death. And oh, they actually say that
- 55:09Speaker 4: on this on the episode, don't they. Yeah, she records
- 55:12Speaker 4: before her untimely death. Yeah, because that's obviously happened in
- 55:15Speaker 4: real life. So maybe they had to reference that in
- 55:17Speaker 4: the episodes of viewers going, hey, isn't she gone? Yeah,
- 55:21Speaker 4: so they only married six hours and he was asleep
- 55:24Speaker 4: four five. Maybe they had to do that if I'm
- 55:28Speaker 4: thinking because she'd passed away, they couldn't have her appearance.
- 55:32Speaker 2: They had to be a pre recorded message.
- 55:34Speaker 4: Yeah, who knows. They only married six hours. For five
- 55:37Speaker 4: of those hours he was asleep and the other hour
