- 0:00Speaker 1: The Force will be with you always. Hello and welcome
- 0:20Speaker 1: back to another episode of Star Wars Alliance. Of course,
- 0:24Speaker 1: I'm your host, play and with me like every single week.
- 0:28Speaker 1: Of course. Is Katie, Katie? How are you doing today?
- 0:33Speaker 2: You know? I had my toddler home today because my
- 0:36Speaker 2: sister's kids are sick, So I have whiskey.
- 0:40Speaker 1: That about Jai? How I am? I'm doing well. We
- 0:49Speaker 1: went to go see a friend that we haven't seen
- 0:51Speaker 1: in about a year.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Uh.
- 0:53Speaker 1: And the only reason why I know that is because
- 0:56Speaker 1: the last time we saw her, she gave birth to
- 0:59Speaker 1: her first child. Uh. And that I jinxed.
- 1:04Speaker 3: Uh.
- 1:05Speaker 1: I jinxed it. When we were here last She's like, Okay,
- 1:09Speaker 1: I'm doing like three weeks. I was like, wouldn't it
- 1:12Speaker 1: be funny that? Oh no, he did you you if
- 1:16Speaker 1: you gave birth before we left?
- 1:20Speaker 2: No, it would not.
- 1:21Speaker 1: I I just happened to say. I was like, wouldn't
- 1:23Speaker 1: it be funny that before we left to go back
- 1:27Speaker 1: to Indiana we actually got to see the baby? And
- 1:30Speaker 1: they're like, haha, very funny. And then that night, Uh,
- 1:36Speaker 1: she sent Abby texts and she was like I hate
- 1:40Speaker 1: Clay and so uh Eugene was born. Uh and we
- 1:48Speaker 1: got to see him for the second time. That was
- 1:51Speaker 1: fun today. But yeah, as uh, if you're not here
- 1:56Speaker 1: live with us here on YouTube, you did hear him.
- 1:59Speaker 1: Just be just a second. Adrian is with us for
- 2:01Speaker 1: the first time in a while, in a long while.
- 2:06Speaker 1: We we I know that you have gone on such
- 2:11Speaker 1: a journey through some stuff recently, and I will say, like,
- 2:18Speaker 1: it is really excited to see the stuff that you've
- 2:22Speaker 1: been doing recently. I know that you The not so
- 2:26Speaker 1: exciting stuff is, of course the surgery and everything else. Uh,
- 2:30Speaker 1: but Adrian, how have you been, man? It has been Yeah,
- 2:33Speaker 1: it's good. It's been a yeah, it's been a while.
- 2:35Speaker 4: Twenty six for for my wife and I had lots
- 2:37Speaker 4: of surgeries, lots of in and out of the hospitals.
- 2:39Speaker 1: I had a hip replacement at thirty two.
- 2:41Speaker 4: I found out that my Latino dad isn't my Latino dad,
- 2:45Speaker 4: and I'm actually black, and I have a whole family
- 2:48Speaker 4: I don't know about, and I don't know, just just
- 2:53Speaker 4: a bunch of other stuff. But Star Wars has been
- 2:56Speaker 4: the only constant. So this is like the first week
- 3:00Speaker 4: where I've You're like, okay, let me get back into it,
- 3:05Speaker 4: especially after all the CDC announcements, which was like the
- 3:08Speaker 4: first thing that I'd written or covered in like forever
- 3:10Speaker 4: for for but why though for for Star Wars stuff.
- 3:12Speaker 4: So I was like, oh, yeah, I like Star Wars
- 3:14Speaker 4: books and it's always been my favorite. What am I doing?
- 3:17Speaker 4: I should be reading more. So picked up a bunch
- 3:19Speaker 4: of books and just really excited to talk to the
- 3:22Speaker 4: guys again. It's been so long.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Yeah, And that's what we're gonna be covering today. We're
- 3:26Speaker 1: going to be doing a recap of the Sandyo comic
- 3:29Speaker 1: gun announcements. One of them I will be able to
- 3:34Speaker 1: talk about in a little bit more context other than
- 3:37Speaker 1: just the voice acting. Uh, and that is of course
- 3:41Speaker 1: the U Zero company. Because Adrian, I know, like, you
- 3:46Speaker 1: have to be excited about this game, right, Yeah? I
- 3:49Speaker 1: think honestly, I think we talked about it, I don't know, like.
- 3:52Speaker 4: Last year, about being excited about a game like this,
- 3:54Speaker 4: and we're finally getting it. I think it's one of
- 3:56Speaker 4: the games that I wanted because I reber Amarkle like
- 3:58Speaker 4: two years ago about like what star games need to happen,
- 4:01Speaker 4: and they're all happening.
- 4:02Speaker 1: So I'm uber excited, uber excited.
- 4:04Speaker 4: I'm actually I'm actually and I might, you know, talk
- 4:07Speaker 4: to you a little bit about this later, but I
- 4:09Speaker 4: need to rank all I need to rank the ten
- 4:11Speaker 4: top Star Wars games, and it's much harder than I
- 4:13Speaker 4: thought it was going to be, especially with Zero Company.
- 4:15Speaker 1: Coming out, because it looks amazing. Yeah. No, with with
- 4:19Speaker 1: the new move and like the new setup and everything,
- 4:22Speaker 1: I now have I think the capacity to be able
- 4:25Speaker 1: to start streaming. I a while ago purchased a Humble
- 4:31Speaker 1: bundle of nothing but Star Wars video games from Yes
- 4:36Speaker 1: and they have just been dormant on my computer and
- 4:40Speaker 1: in my Steam library for now almost two and a
- 4:43Speaker 1: half years. So I'm gonna get started with that with
- 4:49Speaker 1: Zero Company. I am gonna start streaming with Zero Company
- 4:53Speaker 1: in August. It was kind of like a weird decision
- 4:56Speaker 1: of like, hey, I mostly buy all my video games
- 4:59Speaker 1: VI a PlayStation. With all the controversy over physical and digital,
- 5:04Speaker 1: I'm like, you know what, I'm gonna go with PC
- 5:07Speaker 1: on this one, so that way I can play it
- 5:12Speaker 1: and stream at the same time.
- 5:14Speaker 2: I've always been a PlayStation person, but with the fact
- 5:17Speaker 2: that I don't buy that many video games, I'm very
- 5:21Speaker 2: specific about the ones I buy. As you know Clay, Yeah,
- 5:24Speaker 2: but like the Pod Racing one, Matt has always been
- 5:27Speaker 2: an Xbox guy, so it might be that he's by
- 5:31Speaker 2: like we're buying the Xbox One.
- 5:34Speaker 1: Come to the dark side. We have game Pass. We
- 5:38Speaker 1: have game Pass. This right here, I still I still
- 5:44Speaker 1: have like this box right here under this table beside
- 5:48Speaker 1: me has my Xbox just sitting there. I know I
- 5:53Speaker 1: could use it. I know that. Uh, most of my
- 5:57Speaker 1: other friends have Xbox and play Xbox more than I
- 6:00Speaker 1: do have friends playing PlayStation. I just need to get
- 6:03Speaker 1: it out and I need to start playing with everybody.
- 6:05Speaker 1: But let's let's go ahead and and talk a little
- 6:08Speaker 1: bit more about this voice cast. The biggest, i think
- 6:13Speaker 1: one of the bigger announcements of this voice cast when
- 6:16Speaker 1: it came to Zero Company was the return of both
- 6:20Speaker 1: Dee Bradley Baker for a new original clone named Trick,
- 6:28Speaker 1: which is CT thirty three oh one. And of course,
- 6:32Speaker 1: the biggest boom of the announcement of Zero Companies trailer,
- 6:37Speaker 1: which is Anakin Skywalker. We have a returning voice actor
- 6:41Speaker 1: of of course, Matt Lantern being Anakin Skywalker again. So
- 6:51Speaker 1: that was really really fun to see that we get
- 6:54Speaker 1: to have the return of them, but we have voice
- 6:59Speaker 1: actors Jonathan Freeman, Vic Michaeliss, Sorry, Alex McKenna, Leo Howard,
- 7:09Speaker 1: DC Douglas, Jason Pisak, Rica Charman, Erica Luttrell, JB Blanc,
- 7:21Speaker 1: Jim Peery, Hunter Smith, Dylan Caneen if I'm saying that correctly,
- 7:28Speaker 1: Nicole Rentea and Judy Alice Lee all playing a part
- 7:36Speaker 1: in a very large cast of characters that can be
- 7:39Speaker 1: on your team in Zero Company. Katie, I will say this,
- 7:46Speaker 1: I think with your brain you will really enjoy the
- 7:54Speaker 1: strategic gameplay of Zero Company, but I don't know if
- 7:58Speaker 1: you have the patience for it. So like question because.
- 8:04Speaker 2: And like Claig, you and I have had this conversation before.
- 8:07Speaker 2: I'm big into minimal button presses. I don't want to
- 8:11Speaker 2: have to press three different buttons to do a jump
- 8:14Speaker 2: sequence like that. Was my biggest issue with Spider Man
- 8:17Speaker 2: was it was like, oh, press x ya to like
- 8:21Speaker 2: jump kick this villain. I never got past the first
- 8:24Speaker 2: villain Inspider Man. I was not pissed off with how
- 8:30Speaker 2: the gameplay worked. Is like I had the capability for it,
- 8:33Speaker 2: but my brain doesn't process that many button clicks.
- 8:37Speaker 1: With this game. It plays like a board game. A
- 8:41Speaker 1: lot of these more strategic games you will have, of
- 8:45Speaker 1: course your team. They'll give you like a Playmatt type
- 8:51Speaker 1: of scenario. When it comes to your environment. You know
- 8:54Speaker 1: that your enemy team will be on the opposite side
- 8:58Speaker 1: and you move them and then depending on your range
- 9:02Speaker 1: of attacks with each character, it shows you, hey, you
- 9:05Speaker 1: can you know, hit these characters from this far and whatnot.
- 9:09Speaker 1: It is a time consuming style of game, so I
- 9:16Speaker 1: always warn people like, this is not a game that
- 9:18Speaker 1: I would recommend. Just like off the cuff, you have
- 9:22Speaker 1: to be a fan of strategic turn based games. And
- 9:29Speaker 1: this just the trailer within itself at Summer Games Fest
- 9:35Speaker 1: got me. You're really excited because there's one moment whereas
- 9:38Speaker 1: there's a montage of your team and it's just cycling
- 9:43Speaker 1: through all of the different characters that you could possibly
- 9:46Speaker 1: create for your team. So having what four, eight, twelve,
- 9:54Speaker 1: sixteen main characters here, I think is going to be
- 10:00Speaker 1: really really fun. I'm really excited about this. But some
- 10:05Speaker 1: of the talent here has a history with things like
- 10:12Speaker 1: Star Wars, Scar, Star Wars Squadrons, Steven Universe, Star Trek, Discovery,
- 10:17Speaker 1: Battlestar Galactica, you're looking at things like Dropout, Arcane, Marvel Rivals,
- 10:23Speaker 1: Red Dead, Redemption two, Mayor of Kingstown, Criminal Minds, Marvel,
- 10:29Speaker 1: Spider Man two, uh, Mass Effect, and Monster Hunter Wild.
- 10:34Speaker 1: So these people know video games, so really really awesome
- 10:41Speaker 1: to see this cast of characters uh and and voice
- 10:44Speaker 1: cast really excited. And on Star Wars dot Com they
- 10:49Speaker 1: actually have a sample of the Zero Company's score, if
- 10:53Speaker 1: anybody wants to go check that out.
- 11:04Speaker 4: Yeah, I know you said that's like might not be
- 11:06Speaker 4: a game for Cape. I think because it's Star Wars,
- 11:08Speaker 4: it might be. And I think that's like the best
- 11:10Speaker 4: thing about what they're doing now is giving us different
- 11:12Speaker 4: games in Star Wars, but make it star Wars, you know.
- 11:15Speaker 4: So I feel like, because you're connected enough, you might
- 11:18Speaker 4: you might find like a person you really like, and
- 11:20Speaker 4: then that's your like main and all that good stuff.
- 11:22Speaker 1: So I have faith. I have faith.
- 11:25Speaker 2: It's just mainly like the whole video game aspect on
- 11:29Speaker 2: its own, because like I tried Outlaws with like mostly
- 11:32Speaker 2: my husband playing it, and we didn't get very far
- 11:36Speaker 2: in there because I kept getting motion sick. That's thea
- 11:42Speaker 2: and so things like Skyrim have always made me motion sick.
- 11:46Speaker 2: With like the camera and stuff. So that's why I think,
- 11:48Speaker 2: like the pod racing game might be something I can
- 11:51Speaker 2: get into, just because you tend to face forward and
- 11:55Speaker 2: that's really the only thing, like, yeah.
- 11:56Speaker 1: And the camera is always behind you. Yeah.
- 11:59Speaker 2: Yeah, So if it shows up on game Pass, Matt
- 12:05Speaker 2: has game Pass, so we could potentially try it then,
- 12:09Speaker 2: but I don't I'm not gonna make him purchase anything
- 12:12Speaker 2: probably other than the pod racing game. Racing games have
- 12:18Speaker 2: just always been something that I'm down for.
- 12:20Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean it will be eventually. Everything's on game
- 12:22Speaker 1: Pass eventually, but I doubt it will be there on launch. Yeah.
- 12:25Speaker 1: So it says here that Zero Company is not going
- 12:28Speaker 1: to be on game Pass at launch, but yeah, which
- 12:32Speaker 1: makes I can see it eventually jumping on there. But yeah,
- 12:37Speaker 1: really really excited about this. Probably going to be a
- 12:39Speaker 1: day one purchase for me that comes out in almost
- 12:45Speaker 1: exactly one month. Its release date I believe is the
- 12:49Speaker 1: twenty seventh, Yeah, twenty seventh of August, so a little
- 12:57Speaker 1: less than one month to go. Now some other news,
- 13:03Speaker 1: let's talk about some of these smaller announcements when it
- 13:06Speaker 1: comes to books in other media, like that, we have
- 13:14Speaker 1: the New Hope and other parts of the original trilogy
- 13:21Speaker 1: novels finally getting a unabridged audiobook.
- 13:25Speaker 2: This is so exciting for me.
- 13:28Speaker 1: Now here's my question to you, because Katie, I think
- 13:33Speaker 1: I already know your answer because we've talked about this
- 13:36Speaker 1: several times. The next part about this announcement is that
- 13:40Speaker 1: it's narrated by Mark Thompson. Do they always need Mark Thompson?
- 13:47Speaker 4: No, Oh, we don't always need Mark Thompson a lot.
- 13:52Speaker 1: Like there was a little part of me that like,
- 13:55Speaker 1: after Mark Thompson started to do more of like the
- 13:58Speaker 1: DC audio books, I was like, does that mean we
- 14:01Speaker 1: can finally start to see different names on other Star
- 14:05Speaker 1: Wars titles, And then this announcement came. I was like,
- 14:08Speaker 1: maybe not.
- 14:09Speaker 2: Well, but I think at least they're getting him off
- 14:13Speaker 2: of like newer books. Like I don't think he's voiced
- 14:18Speaker 2: a new book this year in the audio books because
- 14:27Speaker 2: the Outlaws prequel was done by the voice actors in
- 14:30Speaker 2: the game, and then Legacy. I can't remember who's the
- 14:36Speaker 2: narrator for Legacy. But then January LaVoi is doing Edge
- 14:40Speaker 2: of Abyss yes, so so I don't think he's done
- 14:47Speaker 2: a new book this year. So at least there's that
- 14:50Speaker 2: that there they are getting other people involved.
- 14:56Speaker 4: I like Mark Thompson, but he just makes all his
- 14:58Speaker 4: characters sound the same and like all like the thy
- 15:00Speaker 4: characters sound was saying to me, and I was.
- 15:02Speaker 1: Gonna say, he has about three different voices. He has
- 15:09Speaker 1: his like feminine voice, he has his main character voice,
- 15:15Speaker 1: and then he has his alien voice. And his alien
- 15:18Speaker 1: voice literally sounds the same for like that one random
- 15:23Speaker 1: character in each one of the people he does. So
- 15:28Speaker 1: I would I would like to see more people.
- 15:33Speaker 4: Give me Jeff Hayes. Give Jeff Hayes an audiobook. Jeff
- 15:36Speaker 4: hays does the Dungeon Crawler and.
- 15:42Speaker 1: Range to jump on that bandwagon I saw, man, his
- 15:46Speaker 1: range is insane. His range is insane, so wild.
- 15:50Speaker 2: Have I seen the Wonderwall song?
- 15:53Speaker 1: Yeah, I did see that. I saw that on TikTok.
- 15:55Speaker 2: Yes voices, So don'nut sings the Wonderwall song, but she
- 16:03Speaker 2: adapts it for the Dungeon.
- 16:07Speaker 1: That's hilarious.
- 16:08Speaker 2: It's absolutely phenomenal.
- 16:10Speaker 4: Yeah, he spends like most of the book in like
- 16:12Speaker 4: a feminine voice, and he kills it.
- 16:15Speaker 1: He rocks it.
- 16:17Speaker 2: That's why he's going to be the.
- 16:18Speaker 1: Cat in exactly. I need to jump on the bandwagon
- 16:24Speaker 1: for that. I feel like everyone that I know has
- 16:27Speaker 1: already either like caught up to the series or starting
- 16:30Speaker 1: the series, and I'm just here, like Clay, It's like
- 16:35Speaker 1: it's a lot.
- 16:36Speaker 2: Matt, it is a lot, but Clay, Matt doesn't read.
- 16:41Speaker 2: And Matt finished the first book and is starting the
- 16:44Speaker 2: second book tonight.
- 16:46Speaker 4: That's how good alternative if you don't want like a
- 16:50Speaker 4: like a long series, but same kind of style, same
- 16:52Speaker 4: same writer.
- 16:53Speaker 1: Operation Bounce House came out like I just got it.
- 16:56Speaker 4: I just got It's like eight hours on the audiobooks.
- 16:59Speaker 4: It's pretty short, right, It's good. I like that one
- 17:02Speaker 4: a lot.
- 17:04Speaker 1: Operation They ever.
- 17:07Speaker 2: Get Jeff Hayes, because doesn't he run his own production company,
- 17:10Speaker 2: and I don't think they would.
- 17:11Speaker 1: Go him go.
- 17:16Speaker 4: I think about how many fans you would bring to
- 17:18Speaker 4: Star Wars audio if you had Jeff as do an audiobook?
- 17:22Speaker 2: Yes?
- 17:26Speaker 1: Now, is this an audible exclusive?
- 17:29Speaker 2: No? I don't think Operation Bounce Houses.
- 17:34Speaker 1: It's a full book two all right? Well, then in
- 17:38Speaker 1: that case I am because I have like sixteen freaking
- 17:42Speaker 1: credits over at yes perfect on libro dot FM. I'm
- 17:47Speaker 1: gonna look it up right now and grab it. I
- 17:52Speaker 1: have been like super anti billionaire, anti capitalism, so I'm
- 17:59Speaker 1: trying to do everything I can to like stay away
- 18:01Speaker 1: from Audible and Amazon of course, of course, so uh,
- 18:05Speaker 1: Libro has has been taking my money a whole lot lately.
- 18:10Speaker 1: So we got that for the original trilogy. I'm actually
- 18:14Speaker 1: really excited about this because I have not really jumped
- 18:19Speaker 1: into the novelization of these, uh. But my stepdad, he
- 18:25Speaker 1: is very big into audio books, and he has wanted
- 18:30Speaker 1: to read the novelizations, uh, but he has only been
- 18:35Speaker 1: reading stuff via audio audio. So he's really excited about
- 18:40Speaker 1: this announcement. Something that completely went over my head, and
- 18:45Speaker 1: Katie was just like, Clay, that's old news. I don't
- 18:47Speaker 1: know why you're talking about this. The Vader book one,
- 18:54Speaker 1: which one.
- 18:56Speaker 4: Because I felt like there was a few announcements, was like,
- 19:00Speaker 4: we're giving you Vader in comics, We're giving you Vader
- 19:02Speaker 4: in books, We're giving you Vader and everything.
- 19:04Speaker 1: But yeah, that Icons one looks so good. The Icons
- 19:07Speaker 1: book does look really, really good. But Katie did remind
- 19:11Speaker 1: me that this was actually announced what like a year
- 19:17Speaker 1: and a half ago.
- 19:17Speaker 2: Two years ago, I think almost two years ago.
- 19:21Speaker 1: And is just now getting like a hard release date.
- 19:26Speaker 1: So this I think is going to be very fun
- 19:30Speaker 1: for anybody who does love those coffee table books something
- 19:36Speaker 1: to just kind of skim through from day to day.
- 19:40Speaker 1: It looks like a very very fun read. So I'm
- 19:45Speaker 1: really excited. I think now that I am in the
- 19:49Speaker 1: space that I am in, I can finally start getting
- 19:52Speaker 1: those books. Amberlyn is finally old enough to know what
- 19:56Speaker 1: she can touch and what she cannot touch. So I
- 20:00Speaker 1: think this one may be on the radar finaling.
- 20:04Speaker 2: Yeah, all of my books you see behind me if
- 20:07Speaker 2: you're on YouTube, Guys, all my shelves are currently empty.
- 20:11Speaker 2: All my books are coming in this weekend from my mother.
- 20:14Speaker 2: Matt is making a trip tomorrow, and then my mother
- 20:17Speaker 2: in law is supposed to be coming on Saturday, and
- 20:19Speaker 2: Matt's going to go back up. I'm excited because, yeah,
- 20:24Speaker 2: Mara is also like, she grabbed my mom's glasses this
- 20:28Speaker 2: weekend and I've said, ma, are those yours? And she
- 20:30Speaker 2: said nope, I dropped it.
- 20:33Speaker 1: So huzzah. I love that.
- 20:38Speaker 5: I feel like I can put my coffee table books
- 20:40Speaker 5: back out.
- 20:50Speaker 1: With that, we also got some comic book news when
- 20:54Speaker 1: it comes to Star Wars. Some of these that we
- 20:59Speaker 1: have already kind of mentioned. We did get a little
- 21:01Speaker 1: bit more details on them, but we got some more
- 21:06Speaker 1: inside looks of the Mad Cave and paper Cuts stories
- 21:12Speaker 1: titles like Star Wars Smugglers and Scoundrels and Tales from
- 21:19Speaker 1: the Outer Rim. These are both going to be paper
- 21:23Speaker 1: Cuts Publications. Paper Cuts is an amazing publisher I've had
- 21:31Speaker 1: the opportunity to work with them before, back when I
- 21:34Speaker 1: was working with Comic Book Distribution. Great great company. I
- 21:39Speaker 1: think Star Wars is in great hands when it comes
- 21:42Speaker 1: to this. They are very family friendly, very poppy, very
- 21:51Speaker 1: kid oriented for sure, but very fun nonetheless, So I
- 21:56Speaker 1: really like the Jackson's coming back.
- 22:03Speaker 4: Kevin Scott is an absolute genius of all mediums and
- 22:07Speaker 4: genres when it comes to comics, so I'm very excited.
- 22:11Speaker 1: I think, what is Greg Pack doing the other one?
- 22:12Speaker 4: I think Greg Pak is doing the Scott the Outer
- 22:15Speaker 4: Rim one, and then yeah, the Jackson one is obvious
- 22:17Speaker 4: gonna be Kevin Scott.
- 22:18Speaker 1: So very exciting.
- 22:22Speaker 2: Yeah, super excited for this. I did find it interesting
- 22:26Speaker 2: that dark Horse has not had any other announcements. I
- 22:30Speaker 2: believe the Mace Window comic is still set for October,
- 22:34Speaker 2: but then they literally have no other announcements currently, So
- 22:37Speaker 2: is the license just going to paper Cuts and dark
- 22:40Speaker 2: Horse is relinquishing it like I DW did.
- 22:44Speaker 1: I can only assume. Yes, I have not heard anything
- 22:50Speaker 1: on like my side of the comic book world, but
- 22:56Speaker 1: I like because of how quiet they have been, if
- 23:00Speaker 1: there was anything coming from dark Horse and Star Wars
- 23:04Speaker 1: Sandio Comic Con would have been it. Yeah.
- 23:06Speaker 4: I think the only thing that they announced was that
- 23:08Speaker 4: they're doing like the the hardcover of the Galactic Tales
- 23:11Speaker 4: of Terror that covers the Nightmnger.
- 23:13Speaker 1: Oh so good. Other than that, I don't think I
- 23:16Speaker 1: saw anything else. Yeah, and even that that was gonna
- 23:20Speaker 1: be the very next thing that I bring up. Gorgeous cover,
- 23:25Speaker 1: by the way, this like beautiful like teal cover. I
- 23:30Speaker 1: can't remember the the artist for this one. This one
- 23:33Speaker 1: is uh, they do all of the the Tales of books.
- 23:45Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, who is this freaking artist? But I
- 23:48Speaker 1: can I can actually share it on my screen right now.
- 23:55Speaker 4: Beautiful, beautiful cover. Yeah truly, h Francesco. Yeah, this is great.
- 24:02Speaker 4: It's so good.
- 24:03Speaker 1: I don't I don't know if you guys have had
- 24:04Speaker 1: a chance to read this story yet, were it?
- 24:11Speaker 2: Oh?
- 24:11Speaker 1: Man, it's so good. It's so good.
- 24:13Speaker 4: It's such great storytelling across the three generations of Star
- 24:16Speaker 4: Wars with like the same story. Oh man, it's good.
- 24:20Speaker 4: Oh man, it's good. I want to I want to
- 24:21Speaker 4: talk about it. Whenever you talk about I'm coming back,
- 24:24Speaker 4: there's a last scene specifically that I'm like, that's that's her.
- 24:27Speaker 4: That's why you would have wanted her, not Luke. That's
- 24:29Speaker 4: why you would have wanted her, not Luke, because she's
- 24:32Speaker 4: not scared to shoot a ghost.
- 24:33Speaker 1: You know. I'm with it. I'm with it. And then
- 24:36Speaker 1: another story that we actually have not read yet and
- 24:40Speaker 1: we're waiting until the actual completed volume. That's something that
- 24:43Speaker 1: we've decided that we're going to do just because, uh,
- 24:47Speaker 1: getting the week two week stuff is a little bit
- 24:49Speaker 1: harder for us with family and stuff. But the fourth
- 24:56Speaker 1: issue of the High Republican Adventures pathfind He is coming
- 25:01Speaker 1: out very very soon, it says here. The series follows
- 25:05Speaker 1: a team of republic Pathfinders to dispatch to a distant
- 25:08Speaker 1: corner of the galaxy to investigate the death of a
- 25:12Speaker 1: Jedi master. We've been very, you know, still very very
- 25:18Speaker 1: excited about the continuation of the High Republic. This Pathfinders
- 25:23Speaker 1: is currently the only thing that is within that timeline.
- 25:30Speaker 1: We have had some glimpses in teases of or not
- 25:40Speaker 1: teases slash cameos of stuff that is in recent books
- 25:44Speaker 1: referencing High Republic, but nothing super solidified like the stories
- 25:49Speaker 1: that we have gotten in the Initiative of the High Republic.
- 25:52Speaker 1: And that's kind of what we're still waiting for.
- 25:55Speaker 2: And s Glenn says there is more Higher Republic stuff coming.
- 25:58Speaker 2: That was one of the things he said that I
- 26:00Speaker 2: don't remember which panel, but he didn't say it this weekend,
- 26:02Speaker 2: so at least now.
- 26:05Speaker 1: But that's a question for both of you guys. I
- 26:07Speaker 1: know that all of us enjoyed High Republic stuff. Do
- 26:12Speaker 1: you think that they continue to do these small stories
- 26:16Speaker 1: or do you think they go out of their way
- 26:18Speaker 1: to do another initiative.
- 26:20Speaker 2: I don't think there's going to be another initiative in
- 26:22Speaker 2: the Higher Republic. I think it's going to be add on.
- 26:25Speaker 1: Yeah. I don't think they need another initiative for it.
- 26:27Speaker 4: Established the universe, established the law, and just give us
- 26:31Speaker 4: comics the way that you're giving us comics and stories
- 26:33Speaker 4: for everything else, and it should be fine, right.
- 26:35Speaker 1: Yeah, Yeah, I think so. With the way that they
- 26:42Speaker 1: have been releasing books recently, especially with things like is
- 26:47Speaker 1: Like Stars, I do think dabbling in that going genre
- 26:54Speaker 1: based and then choosing which parts of the timeline to
- 26:59Speaker 1: really throw that story into, I think that would be
- 27:02Speaker 1: really best for the Higher Republic, to be completely honest,
- 27:04Speaker 1: I think that would be amazing. Yeah, But the only
- 27:11Speaker 1: other comic news is actually not Star Wars related, but
- 27:15Speaker 1: it is lucasfilm related. If anybody is interested, Indiana Jones
- 27:22Speaker 1: is getting a I don't know if this is a
- 27:25Speaker 1: one shot or a.
- 27:28Speaker 2: Five issue limited series.
- 27:30Speaker 1: Ah Okay, a five issue limited series is called Indiana
- 27:34Speaker 1: Jones and the Sword of Pandemonium. So if anybody was
- 27:42Speaker 1: asking for some more Indiana Jones stories, we now have it,
- 27:48Speaker 1: which is really interesting of like you see the success
- 27:52Speaker 1: of like somebody like Mad Cave with things like speed
- 27:57Speaker 1: Racer with uh uh oh, what's some of the other
- 28:02Speaker 1: random titles that they have Flash Gordon uh some of
- 28:06Speaker 1: that older classic stories uh And it feels like I'm
- 28:10Speaker 1: about to date myself with what I'm referencing with that
- 28:13Speaker 1: to Indiana Jones. But like, I'm surprised Indiana Jones didn't
- 28:17Speaker 1: already have an ongoing series over at Marvel to be
- 28:20Speaker 1: completely honest, but you know, maybe this is one thing
- 28:26Speaker 1: to kind of test the waters, to see if that
- 28:28Speaker 1: can be something of uh in their in their in
- 28:33Speaker 1: their little sandbox playground before we move on to the
- 28:39Speaker 1: bigger book announcement. I did send Katie a screenshot of
- 28:47Speaker 1: this today. Uh. It says here that there is a
- 28:53Speaker 1: comic book series. Is this the comic book series? I
- 28:57Speaker 1: can't Uh, yes, it is coming from a paper as well.
- 29:01Speaker 1: X Wing Academy is a series ongoing which is an
- 29:06Speaker 1: ongoing paper cut series will feature a Hogwarts like style
- 29:12Speaker 1: pilot's school set before the Force awakens. This comic is
- 29:19Speaker 1: set to launch in twenty twenty seven. This is interesting legend.
- 29:26Speaker 2: His piloting Academy is what we're looking at here.
- 29:30Speaker 1: Yeah, we could also probably see oh my gosh, Disney
- 29:39Speaker 1: not Disney plus, what was the Resistance Resistance Star Wars. Yeah,
- 29:46Speaker 1: characters from there were from the you know the quote unquote. Yeah,
- 29:52Speaker 1: so we could start We could probably see some of them.
- 29:56Speaker 2: It depends on when it actually is. If it's like
- 30:00Speaker 2: directly before the Force awakens, the yes, I could see.
- 30:05Speaker 6: Yeah, but if it's like five years before I don't know.
- 30:20Speaker 1: It would be it would be interesting. I love the idea.
- 30:25Speaker 1: The well Hogwarts style kind of gives me a little pause.
- 30:30Speaker 1: I don't know, because again when it comes to uh,
- 30:35Speaker 1: x Wing and all of the like Rogue Squadron, all
- 30:38Speaker 1: of the flight type of stories in Star Wars, I
- 30:43Speaker 1: am not the uh, the professional of that. Katie would be.
- 30:49Speaker 1: Katie is the one that has read all of those
- 30:51Speaker 1: stories and books.
- 30:54Speaker 2: There's been no there's nothing similar in legends. I would
- 30:57Speaker 2: say there really was no like a cat me. It
- 31:00Speaker 2: was just kind of like, okay, you have like something.
- 31:04Speaker 1: You can fly, Yeah, you can fly, blow up the
- 31:08Speaker 1: dust star Yeah.
- 31:10Speaker 2: Basically, and like the the x Wing books from Michael
- 31:16Speaker 2: Stackpole and Aaron Austin, those were all like if they
- 31:21Speaker 2: pulled in new pilots. It really was Okay, you've flown
- 31:24Speaker 2: with a different squadron and you've proven yourself for Wraith
- 31:28Speaker 2: or Rogue, like welcome to the team. Basically, so there's
- 31:32Speaker 2: nothing similar. Okay, we know and aftermath like and uh
- 31:42Speaker 2: the Poe Damn Room novel that Wedge kind of leads
- 31:45Speaker 2: a training academy, which is why I was saying Wedge.
- 31:49Speaker 2: But we also know in Resistance reborn, that Wedge had
- 31:55Speaker 2: kind of retired from that life and was really living
- 31:57Speaker 2: like true farm boy esque vibes.
- 32:01Speaker 1: Yeah, so that's why.
- 32:02Speaker 2: I'm like, if it depends on where it's actually at,
- 32:06Speaker 2: like saying it's before Force awakends, I mean there's thirty
- 32:10Speaker 2: years right there, basically, so.
- 32:17Speaker 1: It'll be interesting.
- 32:20Speaker 4: I'm more excited for the Star pilots that they announced,
- 32:24Speaker 4: the one like where Wedge like gives the accounts of
- 32:26Speaker 4: the perspective of like accounts the Galactic Civil Wars, and
- 32:30Speaker 4: like all the pilots, I'm that one than a hot
- 32:34Speaker 4: Wart style thing.
- 32:35Speaker 2: Yeah. I'm so intrigued by the Star pilots because of
- 32:39Speaker 2: how attached I am to Wedge. Yeah, but I'm also
- 32:45Speaker 2: I've struggled with like the Skywalker biography and the War
- 32:50Speaker 2: one that Kim Schall did, simply because I have always
- 32:55Speaker 2: struggled with non fiction reading, and so even though it's
- 32:59Speaker 2: technically it's written as non fiction, Yeah, and I struggle
- 33:04Speaker 2: with that, but I'm still getting it because I want
- 33:07Speaker 2: to try again.
- 33:08Speaker 4: We gotta get we gotta get people hyped up for
- 33:10Speaker 4: the Starfighter movie. So everything, everything pilots, everything pilots pilots
- 33:14Speaker 4: are so cool.
- 33:15Speaker 2: Now, yeah, that is true.
- 33:17Speaker 1: That is I never really put two and two together,
- 33:21Speaker 1: to be completely honest, like like I understand because like
- 33:27Speaker 1: as of right now, the only tidbits that we've gotten
- 33:33Speaker 1: from Starfighter is not that Ryan Gosling is like this
- 33:39Speaker 1: amazing pilot is just a scoundrel esque character. That's it,
- 33:48Speaker 1: like we we but of course the name Starfighter. I
- 33:52Speaker 1: should have been like, oh, you know, that makes sense,
- 33:57Speaker 1: but speaking of Star Pilot completely forgot that does come
- 34:02Speaker 1: out in October of this year, October sixth, for anybody
- 34:07Speaker 1: who wanted that date. So now I think is I
- 34:15Speaker 1: think the biggest news, the biggest teas that we got
- 34:18Speaker 1: beforehand was just a random title called Star Wars twin Crossroads,
- 34:24Speaker 1: no cover reveal, just randomly on the I think Penguin
- 34:28Speaker 1: Random House website literally a day before or two days
- 34:34Speaker 1: before this announcement, and me and Katie were like, Okay,
- 34:38Speaker 1: should we take the word twin literally? Should we not
- 34:42Speaker 1: take it literally? About Luke and LEYA Is this just
- 34:47Speaker 1: like literally crossroads and they're talking about two different types
- 34:50Speaker 1: of crossroads? What's going on? We get the reveal, It
- 34:54Speaker 1: answers all of our questions, Luke and lea story now, Adrian,
- 34:58Speaker 1: I need and know what was your immediate thoughts about
- 35:06Speaker 1: this announcement.
- 35:08Speaker 2: Uh?
- 35:08Speaker 4: Yeah, it's like the thing I've wanted forever. I'm a
- 35:12Speaker 4: I'm a Leyah proponent. It should have been her to
- 35:17Speaker 4: begin with. It should have always been Les. She was
- 35:20Speaker 4: always the better twin. But she just she's a better
- 35:24Speaker 4: She has she has more to do. She just has
- 35:26Speaker 4: more to do. And I think when I was and
- 35:28Speaker 4: I love beth ree Beth beth Reeve. Yeah, she's great,
- 35:35Speaker 4: she's great, and we get to find out I think
- 35:38Speaker 4: she's like an interview with Star Wars dot Com and
- 35:39Speaker 4: she's like I got to pick or I got to
- 35:41Speaker 4: do Uh I got to write? Yeah, Like I'm so
- 35:47Speaker 4: I don't care for anything else other than that the
- 35:48Speaker 4: whole book can be.
- 35:50Speaker 1: The whole book can be just forgetting her hyper Crystal.
- 35:52Speaker 4: And I'm hyped for it because I'm just so interested
- 35:54Speaker 4: to see her view of the force because we see
- 35:55Speaker 4: it like a little bit right in other stories of
- 35:59Speaker 4: like how she feels the force, how she feels that connection.
- 36:02Speaker 4: But I felt this would be the first time that
- 36:03Speaker 4: we actually really get to, like like in the High
- 36:07Speaker 4: Republic where we're really knowing how they see the force
- 36:10Speaker 4: is what I'm hoping to get to that and I'm
- 36:12Speaker 4: sure Luke will be there doing stuff.
- 36:16Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 36:16Speaker 2: So yeah, this is super exciting to me because Grievous
- 36:22Speaker 2: talks about it in the interview, but it's literally a
- 36:24Speaker 2: direct sequel to Princess in the Scoundrel. Yeah, basically, like
- 36:28Speaker 2: it picks up right before that. It takes place before
- 36:31Speaker 2: Battle of jack Cous So I'm also imagine we're going
- 36:34Speaker 2: to find out that Leah figures out she's pregnant in
- 36:37Speaker 2: the midst of all this too. So like, I'm super
- 36:42Speaker 2: excited for this. I am interested to see how they
- 36:45Speaker 2: fit this in the timeline because I just feel like
- 36:48Speaker 2: they've packed that year right there.
- 36:52Speaker 4: So yeah, I think it's fine because like Luke learns
- 36:55Speaker 4: to be a Jedi in like a year and it's fine. Yeah,
- 36:58Speaker 4: But I don't think that the timeline will matter as
- 37:02Speaker 4: much to me as like the story that they decide
- 37:04Speaker 4: to tell, Like what new what new things are we
- 37:06Speaker 4: going to get for Luke because we got to get
- 37:07Speaker 4: new things for Luke.
- 37:08Speaker 1: I just won't want him to be like the same.
- 37:09Speaker 4: I want him to go through stuff and like think
- 37:12Speaker 4: about the things that he's doing, and I want to
- 37:13Speaker 4: see his you know, when he's maybe talking to Leah
- 37:16Speaker 4: about starting the Academy and like doing all this stuff.
- 37:19Speaker 4: Like that's the stuff that I'm really excited for, like
- 37:20Speaker 4: the brother sister bonding, just them, because we don't get
- 37:25Speaker 4: a whole lot of that really anywhere, you know, So
- 37:28Speaker 4: I'm super super excited for it. More excited than like
- 37:30Speaker 4: the Legacy, but not that I didn't like Legacy, but
- 37:33Speaker 4: like it are parts of legacies. I started it, haven't
- 37:35Speaker 4: finished it, but this just this is it, Like this
- 37:39Speaker 4: is this is the twin duo that we've been you know,
- 37:42Speaker 4: the original, not that their Diet on the Force, but
- 37:44Speaker 4: like the original like Disruptors in the Force. And I
- 37:49Speaker 4: can't wait to see how Leah sees it. So then
- 37:51Speaker 4: people can like go, w, what did you do that?
- 37:53Speaker 1: Because she's badass.
- 37:55Speaker 4: She was always doing this stuff, even back in the
- 37:56Speaker 4: Princess and Leah Princess of Baldron when she's like saving
- 37:59Speaker 4: herself going up the hill, like come on, man, it's
- 38:03Speaker 4: been there, so now we finally get to see it.
- 38:04Speaker 4: And I think they gave a really good author the
- 38:06Speaker 4: Rains for it too super exciting.
- 38:09Speaker 1: I am really really excited about all of this. We
- 38:15Speaker 1: really enjoyed Princess and the Scoundrel. I think that one
- 38:19Speaker 1: of the best parts of that story is literally like
- 38:25Speaker 1: half a chapter of a conversation between Luke and Leah
- 38:30Speaker 1: Yes about their father and how disgusted she still is
- 38:35Speaker 1: and she has this like icky feeling. It sounds like
- 38:39Speaker 1: they're going to really get into that because not only
- 38:42Speaker 1: is this going to be a story of how she
- 38:44Speaker 1: gets her Kyper Crystal, not just about her training, but
- 38:48Speaker 1: it does sound like in from this quote here, it
- 38:50Speaker 1: says the siblings must confront the legacy of their birth
- 38:53Speaker 1: parents Anagain Skywalker and Patime Amidala Yes, and their own
- 38:57Speaker 1: diverging futures of the Force. I think this is going
- 39:01Speaker 1: to be really really interesting because we know from the
- 39:05Speaker 1: Rise of Skywalker that Leah eventually has this Force vision
- 39:12Speaker 1: that shows her that she can no longer go down
- 39:14Speaker 1: this path. It kind of teases that in that one
- 39:18Speaker 1: sentence here is saying and their own diverging futures of
- 39:22Speaker 1: the Force. So I think there's going to be a
- 39:24Speaker 1: lot of siblings butting heads in this book, which I
- 39:31Speaker 1: think is good. I think that, you know, seeing the
- 39:37Speaker 1: difference of them. And I won't go into too much
- 39:40Speaker 1: because I know that you just said, Adrian that you
- 39:43Speaker 1: did not finish legacy. Yet we come to learn that
- 39:49Speaker 1: there was because small little quote of like Leah is
- 39:54Speaker 1: saying like, hey, Luke does this this way, I do
- 39:57Speaker 1: it this way. We know they are of two get
- 40:00Speaker 1: a different minds, and seeing those two different minds kind
- 40:04Speaker 1: of working together in these situations. In this situation in particular,
- 40:08Speaker 1: I think it's gonna be really really fun. I am
- 40:12Speaker 1: super excited about this, Like the the idea of getting
- 40:24Speaker 1: to know how she gets her Kyper crystal, what kind
- 40:29Speaker 1: of like fighting style, Like that's the one thing that
- 40:34Speaker 1: I have always wanted ever since I was a kid. Like, yeah,
- 40:37Speaker 1: I remember seeing like fan art of Leah in like
- 40:43Speaker 1: a badass robe with a double bladed yellow lightsaber, and
- 40:47Speaker 1: I'm just like, I need this, Oh my god. And
- 40:53Speaker 1: we've I think we've seen more and more. I feel
- 40:56Speaker 1: like ever since or even before the mace Win story,
- 41:01Speaker 1: we've kind of seen these books kind of get into
- 41:04Speaker 1: the fighting styles of Jedi a little bit more often. So, uh,
- 41:10Speaker 1: it'll be interesting to see how they go about that
- 41:13Speaker 1: with Leah in this book, but yeah, super excited about this.
- 41:17Speaker 1: It does say that this is not the final cover.
- 41:20Speaker 1: I will say that human the cover, you don't like it,
- 41:25Speaker 1: I'm not here, what about you? I kind of like it.
- 41:30Speaker 2: I kind of like it.
- 41:31Speaker 1: Also, it also does look too much.
- 41:32Speaker 4: Like the the one the book you just like, it
- 41:37Speaker 4: looks too much like Legacy Legacy.
- 41:40Speaker 1: It's not distinct enough. Yeah.
- 41:42Speaker 2: Yeah, like the green background doesn't give it enough. And
- 41:48Speaker 2: like you said, it's not the final cover.
- 41:50Speaker 1: But the last time we saw something say not final cover,
- 41:55Speaker 1: it was literally just like a higher res of that
- 41:59Speaker 1: saying not final cover for both the Accolades and the
- 42:05Speaker 1: the young adult one Seeker.
- 42:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 42:09Speaker 1: Yeah, both of those covers ended up being the exact same,
- 42:14Speaker 1: just different art styles from the initial announcement.
- 42:18Speaker 2: So yeah, I think it draws too close to Legacy,
- 42:22Speaker 2: but there's not enough there, Like, it doesn't feel cross
- 42:31Speaker 2: roads y, it feels like they're headed down the same path.
- 42:38Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 42:39Speaker 4: Yeah, I've always pictured le like like the old like
- 42:43Speaker 4: the concept art of like uh Luke when he had
- 42:46Speaker 4: you know, the sword and the pistol.
- 42:48Speaker 1: That's how I just pictured her. I wish that's what
- 42:50Speaker 1: they would have done. With her. Yeah yeah, like okay, yeah,
- 42:54Speaker 1: she a little different, a little different.
- 42:57Speaker 2: Yeah, or like maybe including like Hant had been in
- 43:01Speaker 2: the background, like some.
- 43:03Speaker 4: Sort of like no the vaderan Amidala in the background.
- 43:08Speaker 4: Yeah that would be cool. Yeah yeah, oh man, if
- 43:14Speaker 4: you're listening.
- 43:17Speaker 2: There's still time.
- 43:18Speaker 1: But that's also to fix it.
- 43:20Speaker 2: There's also why I'm not a dust jacket person, Like
- 43:23Speaker 2: I take all my dust jackets off.
- 43:25Speaker 4: So didn't like didn't like Andy Five's dust jacket, didn't
- 43:29Speaker 4: like his duster.
- 43:30Speaker 1: Yeah, speaking of because I am also that way. I
- 43:38Speaker 1: have not taken it off yet, but I did take
- 43:40Speaker 1: a glance at it. Beautiful silver lettering on legacy, Uh beautiful,
- 43:50Speaker 1: super nice. Yeah, but if you guys could correct me
- 43:56Speaker 1: if I'm wrong, I think that is all of the announcements.
- 44:03Speaker 1: There were a couple that I that I that I
- 44:06Speaker 1: that I took down when I was right. Ka.
- 44:09Speaker 4: Fort that I'm really actually really excited for. Is the
- 44:12Speaker 4: a New Hope triple take where they're gonna give as right. Yes, yes, yes,
- 44:16Speaker 4: the Triple the graphic novel from three different perspectives, and
- 44:19Speaker 4: you know, from a a certain point of view.
- 44:21Speaker 1: So I always love point of view stories.
- 44:23Speaker 4: For Star Wars and I would love and I can't
- 44:25Speaker 4: wait to see this in graphic novel format, you know,
- 44:29Speaker 4: open up to another another medium, opened up to another
- 44:32Speaker 4: group of readers. But you know, having Leiahan and Luke
- 44:37Speaker 4: the original trio from their perspectives through these stories, I
- 44:39Speaker 4: can't wait to see how it changes our perception of
- 44:43Speaker 4: like a new Hope, which is crazy to say fifty
- 44:45Speaker 4: years later, but like, I'm here for it.
- 44:49Speaker 1: I do also like and you did mention that, but
- 44:51Speaker 1: I do like how each story is going to have
- 44:54Speaker 1: a completely different arch style. I think that is really fun.
- 44:57Speaker 1: That releases February of twenty twenty seven.
- 45:02Speaker 4: Yeah, great, yeah, and then oh and then yeah, and
- 45:07Speaker 4: I think I saw you I was gonna talk.
- 45:10Speaker 2: And I think that's where the different art sales because
- 45:13Speaker 2: we talked about it previously and some of our comic
- 45:14Speaker 2: views of how like the volumes, when they have different
- 45:17Speaker 2: art stales, it really throws things off. That's where it's purposeful,
- 45:21Speaker 2: and that's where it makes sense to change those art styles.
- 45:25Speaker 2: But like one continuing story, yeah.
- 45:28Speaker 1: Yeah, it definitely irks us when there's one volume meant
- 45:31Speaker 1: to be a continuous story and they didn't plan for oh,
- 45:36Speaker 1: so and so is not going to have the time
- 45:38Speaker 1: to finish a book or whatever, for sure. Yeah uh,
- 45:41Speaker 1: but what else was on that list? Oh uh, knits
- 45:45Speaker 1: for younglings. You're a you're a knitter. I thought, I
- 45:48Speaker 1: thought that we will talking to that, but that one
- 45:51Speaker 1: for sure?
- 45:52Speaker 2: Oh I So I saw that. I didn't get too
- 45:57Speaker 2: much into it because I don't actually knit a crochet.
- 45:59Speaker 1: So it's like, oh, sorry, apologies. I don't know. I
- 46:02Speaker 1: mean maybe it's maybe there's crochet stuff in there. I
- 46:04Speaker 1: don't know, but I was like, there is a cruche already.
- 46:08Speaker 4: But yeah, when I saw you were the first person
- 46:10Speaker 4: I thought of, and I.
- 46:11Speaker 1: Was like, oh, you, she has a little one. I
- 46:13Speaker 1: imagine she might you know, patterns for toddler and baby clothes, toys,
- 46:20Speaker 1: blankets and more.
- 46:22Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I may have to teach myself how to knit.
- 46:26Speaker 4: There are some cute ones that The flags are super cute,
- 46:29Speaker 4: you like Mando flag and like a rebel flag.
- 46:32Speaker 1: And did they actually show off some of the stuff
- 46:35Speaker 1: in there? Yeah? I had a couple a couple photos.
- 46:42Speaker 1: Oh me. Yeah, you should be able to have an
- 46:48Speaker 1: option below you to share your screen if you do. Okay,
- 46:53Speaker 1: let me pull uh.
- 46:56Speaker 2: Yeah, because it's not on the Star Wars dot Com summary.
- 47:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I got uh. I feel like they leave stuff out.
- 47:03Speaker 4: I have it from the They sent me like a
- 47:06Speaker 4: press off site pressing. I didn't go this year for CDC,
- 47:08Speaker 4: but whenever I go, I like to cover the panels.
- 47:11Speaker 4: But they didn't I have one, or I didn't get
- 47:15Speaker 4: to go this year.
- 47:16Speaker 1: Hold on, I'll put it up right here. I know
- 47:18Speaker 1: where they are. I know where they are here. Yeah,
- 47:26Speaker 1: all this other.
- 47:27Speaker 2: Because I've avoided the crochet ones while you pull it up,
- 47:30Speaker 2: I've avoided the crochet ones because I don't like doing
- 47:33Speaker 2: the amate groomy like the little stuffies. Oh yeah, they're
- 47:38Speaker 2: just too hard on my fingers. So that's why I like,
- 47:43Speaker 2: I'm doing a blanket right now because it's all in
- 47:45Speaker 2: one row. It's very easy. But like clothes, and if
- 47:50Speaker 2: there's like flags and stuff, I could definitely get into that.
- 47:56Speaker 1: Lovely. Yeah yeah, yeah, it just looks, it just looks.
- 48:02Speaker 1: It just looks super cute.
- 48:03Speaker 4: They only sent like one press image, but if you
- 48:06Speaker 4: want to look at other ones, I have a few
- 48:08Speaker 4: if you want to do at the most stuff.
- 48:09Speaker 1: But yeah, yeah, super excited for that. I mean I'm not.
- 48:14Speaker 1: I'm not a knitter.
- 48:15Speaker 4: I'm not a crochet but my wife does that stuff,
- 48:17Speaker 4: so I might just pick it up for her so
- 48:19Speaker 4: she can have an easy thing for guests for our
- 48:22Speaker 4: Star Wars friends with babies.
- 48:26Speaker 1: Very very interesting. I have always like me and Abby
- 48:30Speaker 1: have both talked about getting into like some sort of
- 48:33Speaker 1: hobby like that, and Abby has talked about crochet and knitting,
- 48:37Speaker 1: so it might be under the radar for sure for
- 48:40Speaker 1: for us looking.
- 48:43Speaker 2: I think the only other one that I saw that
- 48:48Speaker 2: I had completely forgottenbout until I scrolled this again was
- 48:51Speaker 2: the Star Wars a Celebration book with DK and it's
- 49:01Speaker 2: just basically an homage to fifty years of Star Wars felling.
- 49:05Speaker 2: There's a bunch of authors involved, with the main ones
- 49:09Speaker 2: I think being Anthony Breskin and Pablo Hidalgo as always,
- 49:15Speaker 2: but then like there are several like Star Wars Insider
- 49:20Speaker 2: Magazine like article people who are actually going to be
- 49:24Speaker 2: offering chapters and stuff, so a pretty cool endeavor. I
- 49:29Speaker 2: don't this doesn't have a date on it for some reason.
- 49:36Speaker 4: I have it as April sixth for the regular version,
- 49:40Speaker 4: and then Target has an exclusive supposedly like Gold cover
- 49:44Speaker 4: on the seventh, so the next day after so April seven.
- 49:49Speaker 1: Okay, very nice, very very nice. Uh so what was
- 49:54Speaker 1: the next topic that we were going to jump into
- 49:57Speaker 1: after we got done with me?
- 50:00Speaker 2: Predictions?
- 50:01Speaker 1: And yes, so Adrian, I want to go with you
- 50:09Speaker 1: just because I'm going to put you on the spotlight.
- 50:13Speaker 1: We have eight episodes debuting next week. We're actually going
- 50:17Speaker 1: to be cutting our review in half if people are
- 50:22Speaker 1: not aware. Star Wars Visions the Ninth Jedi was in
- 50:26Speaker 1: the first season and in the third season, continuing their
- 50:30Speaker 1: story of the Ninth Jedi from what we already know
- 50:36Speaker 1: and the trailer, What are some things that you really
- 50:42Speaker 1: hope to see, whether that be story wise, artistic wise,
- 50:46Speaker 1: storytelling wise, in the series next week.
- 50:55Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm not really sure. I think I'm going in
- 50:58Speaker 4: with like no expectations. I think for this one, mainly
- 51:01Speaker 4: because I love Star Wars Visions. I think it's the
- 51:03Speaker 4: best thing that Star Wars Disney Star Wars for sure
- 51:06Speaker 4: has ever done, giving the reins to really talented creators
- 51:09Speaker 4: to kind of make their own Star Wars stories that are,
- 51:12Speaker 4: in my opinion a lot of times like more better,
- 51:16Speaker 4: not more better, but like more interesting than you know,
- 51:19Speaker 4: reading about Luke and Lea again for like the million
- 51:23Speaker 4: of the time, I'd rather experience a New Visions story. Personally,
- 51:29Speaker 4: With that said, I thought the ninth Jedi was like
- 51:31Speaker 4: one of the weaker stories in the first season, and
- 51:33Speaker 4: I thought it was definitely the weakest of the third season.
- 51:36Speaker 4: It did not need to be there. It already had
- 51:37Speaker 4: the show that felt so much like anime filler that
- 51:41Speaker 4: it makes my brain hurt that we wasted a slot
- 51:43Speaker 4: for them to do this when they were getting the show.
- 51:45Speaker 4: So I'm kind of coming in not negatively, but I
- 51:48Speaker 4: was like, Okay, here's I hope that it does well
- 51:52Speaker 4: what I want. What I want, I wanted to do amazing.
- 51:55Speaker 4: I hope it does Bukou numbers, amazing numbers so that
- 51:58Speaker 4: we get more Star Wars anime. That's what I want.
- 52:01Speaker 4: I want it to do well so it gets more
- 52:02Speaker 4: Star Wars anime. I hate that they were releasing it
- 52:05Speaker 4: all on one day when we had to sit through
- 52:08Speaker 4: two episodes a week of Mall being very or we
- 52:11Speaker 4: had to sit through like episodes a week of Mall
- 52:13Speaker 4: being in my opinion, very mediocre.
- 52:14Speaker 1: I think it's crazy. We were right behind you. We tried.
- 52:21Speaker 1: I don't I can't remember if we sent you an
- 52:24Speaker 1: invite or not, but we brought your thread into the
- 52:29Speaker 1: show almost every episode. Yeah, yeah, thank you. I am seeing.
- 52:37Speaker 1: I am seeing.
- 52:38Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 52:39Speaker 1: I mean, I'm excited.
- 52:40Speaker 4: I think I think it's the easiest one for them
- 52:42Speaker 4: to do, unfortunately, and I hope that we can just
- 52:48Speaker 4: get more about the Ragtag crew, right we just get
- 52:51Speaker 4: more of what that first episode was was like, learning
- 52:54Speaker 4: about everyone and not just hurts. I hope we take
- 52:57Speaker 4: the team effort. I hope it take the team effort.
- 52:58Speaker 4: I hope the Lightsaber duels are great. I hope he
- 53:02Speaker 4: fight this warlord and it's hard. I hope it's not easy.
- 53:06Speaker 4: I hope that there are some downpoints. I hope that
- 53:07Speaker 4: there's some stuff that to overcome, because right now just
- 53:09Speaker 4: feels very uh like.
- 53:11Speaker 1: Hope all the way. But it's funny that you say that,
- 53:16Speaker 1: because we we did talk about that in the trailer.
- 53:21Speaker 1: When we discussed the trailer, Katie was the first one
- 53:26Speaker 1: to bring it up. She was just like, Hey, this
- 53:29Speaker 1: is a new hope, reskin. I didn't like the trailer,
- 53:33Speaker 1: but that doesn't give me much hope for But the
- 53:38Speaker 1: thing is, I think that more so than a new
- 53:41Speaker 1: Hope Reskin. I think that unfortunately, when it comes to
- 53:49Speaker 1: like Star Wars as a whole, you give one hundred people, hey,
- 53:57Speaker 1: here's the reins at whatever Star Wars story you want
- 54:00Speaker 1: to tell, people will always go back to what they know, unfortunately,
- 54:08Speaker 1: And I think when it came to the Ninth Jedi
- 54:12Speaker 1: or when it comes to the Ninth Jedi, I I
- 54:16Speaker 1: really enjoyed season one. I really enjoyed season three's episode
- 54:25Speaker 1: do I think because like when it came to season three,
- 54:30Speaker 1: we had a lot of problems with the Ronans sequel, Yeah,
- 54:36Speaker 1: same thing, and it was it was just like hey,
- 54:39Speaker 1: like overall, I think both of us Katie and I
- 54:45Speaker 1: had the one of the other stories as like our
- 54:50Speaker 1: number one spot ninth Jedi was still like there to
- 54:54Speaker 1: be like, hey it was they did a good job.
- 54:58Speaker 1: It was beautiful. That ship was great, right, Oh my god,
- 55:01Speaker 1: it looked so pretty. But the story was very Yeah,
- 55:04Speaker 1: And I think what it was is, hey, we're making
- 55:08Speaker 1: a series, remember us Like that essentially what it was. Yeah,
- 55:13Speaker 1: So I I really do hope that looking at the
- 55:22Speaker 1: eight episode type of storytelling with what we saw in mal,
- 55:29Speaker 1: I'm like, hey, we need to get past the like, hey,
- 55:35Speaker 1: let's just squander until the last minute and then boom.
- 55:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 55:41Speaker 4: And it's really tough because I saw some guy on
- 55:43Speaker 4: TikTok maybe like last year, and this is like before
- 55:46Speaker 4: I interviewed. I did Anime Expo New York last year
- 55:50Speaker 4: and I got to sit down in a room with
- 55:53Speaker 4: James Wall, like the executive director, and blah blah blah
- 55:56Speaker 4: blah blah whatever, and he kept saying the whole time
- 56:00Speaker 4: like he just wants stuff with stories to say. That's
- 56:02Speaker 4: how they picked. They want something with something to say.
- 56:05Speaker 4: So I just hope it has something to say, because
- 56:07Speaker 4: I don't feel like the last edition of it did.
- 56:11Speaker 4: So that's just where I hope it goes with it,
- 56:15Speaker 4: Like I hope it has something to say, and I
- 56:17Speaker 4: hope that it does it well over eight episodes so
- 56:19Speaker 4: that way we can be And the thing too, is
- 56:22Speaker 4: that before that I saw on TikTok some guy I
- 56:24Speaker 4: guess who was like on who's working with Lucas or
- 56:26Speaker 4: Star Wars or other. He said something to the fact
- 56:29Speaker 4: that like when Star Wars Visions first came out, they
- 56:32Speaker 4: basically like, do.
- 56:33Speaker 1: We have any anime fans in the chat and then
- 56:37Speaker 1: like you could just tell that, like the people.
- 56:39Speaker 4: Running this were not anime fans, Like the people promoting
- 56:42Speaker 4: this in the very beginning were't anime fans. Even Star
- 56:46Speaker 4: Wars Visions one and two did not receive the amount
- 56:49Speaker 4: of marketing that any other thing has.
- 56:51Speaker 1: Visions was like a little bit better.
- 56:53Speaker 4: But I think personally, I think that's because I called
- 56:54Speaker 4: him out and a bunch of us called him out,
- 56:56Speaker 4: and he's like, I think that the marketing is doing well,
- 56:58Speaker 4: and then three of us like actually to him up, like, no,
- 57:02Speaker 4: go look on your Instagram right now, and I can
- 57:04Speaker 4: tell you that there's no Star Wars Visions anything available,
- 57:08Speaker 4: So I'm hoping with this. They're like, okay, people love anime.
- 57:12Speaker 4: People love like this is cool that.
- 57:15Speaker 1: It's been a big point of conversation for both me
- 57:19Speaker 1: and Katie. When Visions starts to become a conversation, it's like, hey,
- 57:25Speaker 1: you're like four weeks too late. You should have been
- 57:29Speaker 1: doing stuff way back then. Hype up the week before
- 57:33Speaker 1: it comes out, and I didn't even know what came
- 57:35Speaker 1: out next week.
- 57:37Speaker 2: Yeah exactly, because it wasn't announced until Anime Con.
- 57:43Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, exactly, right right, And.
- 57:46Speaker 2: That's just a like hit on Star Wars as a whole,
- 57:50Speaker 2: like in the streaming endeavor, like we should not be
- 57:54Speaker 2: announcing release dates a month before they happen, like.
- 57:57Speaker 4: People should if you care about the creators. Yeah, this
- 58:00Speaker 4: is like a lack of lack of interest in the
- 58:02Speaker 4: creators who are like.
- 58:04Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, because we just got like ABC's and
- 58:08Speaker 2: CBS's announcement for like, okay, this is when the fall
- 58:11Speaker 2: schedule starts, like at least that, like, this is just
- 58:17Speaker 2: it's really ridiculous that we had to wait this song.
- 58:21Speaker 2: My only hope is that there's nothing else Star Wars
- 58:24Speaker 2: related on Disney Plus for the rest of the year,
- 58:27Speaker 2: So I'm hoping that this gets it a little more traction.
- 58:32Speaker 2: Maybe I don't have a lot of hope for the
- 58:35Speaker 2: marketing to continue.
- 58:36Speaker 1: I'm really I'm really interested because again, like if it's
- 58:40Speaker 1: not Star Wars, I'm not really paying attention to too
- 58:44Speaker 1: much on Disney Plus these days. Our group from a
- 58:50Speaker 1: geek verse and the gay uh, they kind of keep
- 58:53Speaker 1: me updated on everything else as far as like what's
- 58:56Speaker 1: coming out on Disney Plus in our circles right now
- 59:04Speaker 1: is uh X men ninety seven. I don't know if
- 59:09Speaker 1: it's completed.
- 59:11Speaker 4: I don't think it is, because I think they're on
- 59:14Speaker 4: episode nine this week, I believe.
- 59:15Speaker 1: Okay, so so next week, so that means we are
- 59:19Speaker 1: getting the finale episode of ninety seven along with the
- 59:24Speaker 1: entire series of the Ninth Jedi, so you kind of
- 59:31Speaker 1: have to compete with that, which I am not really
- 59:34Speaker 1: happy with. So, okay, we got a little bit of time.
- 59:39Speaker 4: I guess it's it's episode seven.
- 59:43Speaker 1: Oh that's today.
- 59:44Speaker 4: Yeah, August fifth is the penultimate episode.
- 59:49Speaker 1: Okay, so so still next week it has to compete
- 59:52Speaker 1: with still has to compete with X Men, So it'll
- 59:56Speaker 1: be interesting to see what the timelines will look. Are
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: we gonna see majority X Men stuff? Are we gonna
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: have a dabble of Ninth Jedi stuff? You know, especially
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: on the Disney Plus account.
- 1:00:12Speaker 4: It's okay, Star Wars put out a character guide thanks
- 1:00:16Speaker 4: for by Kelly Knox, so you know what's good. But
- 1:00:18Speaker 4: that just came out like today, We're getting a character
- 1:00:21Speaker 4: guide to.
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: Day Oh gosh, you're right, it did come out today,
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: geez Louise, uh. Which See, this is what frustrates me
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: because even in our reviews of these two episodes, I
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: was like, oh yeah, you know uh Kara uh, and
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: then that other guy and then the other.
- 1:00:40Speaker 4: Yeah, exactly exactly. I do not know their names. I
- 1:00:43Speaker 4: do not know their names at the top of my head.
- 1:00:45Speaker 4: I don't know anything about them off the top of
- 1:00:47Speaker 4: my head outside of like their character designs. Because we
- 1:00:49Speaker 4: didn't really get a lot in that first episode, and
- 1:00:51Speaker 4: we definitely didn't get anything in the second episode.
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: So I'm hoping that we but then they see, that's
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: what they should have done.
- 1:00:57Speaker 4: We should have got an episode where we learned more
- 1:00:58Speaker 4: about all the other Jedi so that we don't have
- 1:01:00Speaker 4: to spend time doing that in in the actual series,
- 1:01:04Speaker 4: in the actual because like.
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: I'm looking at this character guide that you just sent,
- 1:01:17Speaker 2: like the father was a Jedi Knight.
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: Does he counted the nine? Who counts in the nine? Yeah? Yeah, yeah,
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: yeah yeah. So we'll see how it goes. Uh. I
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: think for me when it comes to predictions and everything,
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: uh I, I hope this has emotion and not just lightsabers.
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: You know.
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: Yeah, we we've had a ongoing conversation and I think
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: it's a legitimate ongoing conversation outside of just this podcast,
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: but Star Wars projects with and without lightsabers. Are they viable?
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: Are they not viable? It's Star Wars. I think everything
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: is viable, But when it comes to how much hype
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: is attached to them, I think the conversation becomes a
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: little bit more real when it comes to lightsabers versus notsabers, unfortunately,
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: which is crazy to talk about because we got and
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: Or with literally no lightsabers, and it was the best
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: show that everybody always talks about when it comes to
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: Star Wars, and yet we still have this conversation of, oh,
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: but doesn't have a lightsabers. Well.
- 1:02:36Speaker 4: Outlaws is one of my favorite games, and you never
- 1:02:38Speaker 4: even you see like one lightsaber in that game, and
- 1:02:41Speaker 4: it's and it's no, you don't even think you see
- 1:02:43Speaker 4: a lightsaber in the game because I don't think Vader
- 1:02:45Speaker 4: pulls it out right, I don't think so.
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: King has been off forever. You haven't played yet, you
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: hate Star Wars. Just kidding, Katie.
- 1:02:51Speaker 4: I know that you can't play it, but if you
- 1:02:53Speaker 4: would have played it, like go watch clips of of
- 1:02:56Speaker 4: like that specific scene where like the first time the
- 1:02:58Speaker 4: Force ever shows up in the courseun the only time
- 1:03:00Speaker 4: the Force ever shows up in that game. It's one
- 1:03:03Speaker 4: of Vator's best scenes. It's one of Vator's best scenes.
- 1:03:05Speaker 4: It's it's it's great, but that no lightsabers.
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: I think it. I think it does well.
- 1:03:10Speaker 4: Ah God, if I hear it, if I hear again,
- 1:03:12Speaker 4: the thing that will be like my barometer for when
- 1:03:17Speaker 4: talking about sarbs and people is like, what do you
- 1:03:18Speaker 4: think about the acolade? I thought the lightsaber fights were cool,
- 1:03:21Speaker 4: and like, that's it. I'm checking out. I'm checking out. Man,
- 1:03:24Speaker 4: We're not We're not five anymore, you know.
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: A little bit.
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: I'm hopeful that it's not a new hope reeskin. I
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: am interested to see based in the trailer like that
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: the dark lord that's in it here, like his blade
- 1:03:48Speaker 2: glows the blue color versus the red of what you
- 1:03:52Speaker 2: would expect is to sit. So I am interested to
- 1:03:54Speaker 2: see how that plays in that storytelling aspect there, if
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: that will lead to intense character moments. The fact that
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: in this character guy they put that the father's a Jedi,
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: a former Jedi knight, really pissed me. So I completely
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: lost the other expectation I had because I'm like, what
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: the fuck was this?
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: I don't I don't remember them even saying that we
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: just knew that he was some sort of smith. Yeah, exactly,
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: And I thought that.
- 1:04:30Speaker 2: Was super cool that it was just like, okay, like
- 1:04:33Speaker 2: the Jedi went to people to get their lightsabers forged.
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: But now you're telling me that he probably really wasn't
- 1:04:39Speaker 2: that and he just built lightsabers for bunch of other people.
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: Yeah. So I still think the concept of like, which
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: I think is hilarious because we've now spent like what
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: almost two years, uh defending Acolyte and the bleeding of crystals,
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: like this is literally like this concept in the Ninth
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: Jedi goes off of emotion based whether you are you know,
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: leaning towards the light side or dark side of the
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: force is the color of your lightsaber and it can
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: literally change, you know, in a blink of an eye.
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: I still think that concept is very very interesting, in
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: in very very cool. So you know, Adrian, you said
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: that you didn't get the chance to watch the trailer.
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: One of the like dun dun dun moments of the
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: trailer is at the very end, uh, this new warlord
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: by the name of General Nawam is speaking to Kara
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: about how, like, oh what, like how many people have
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: you killed in the name of justice, what makes you
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: any different from me? And while his voiceover is happening
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: in the trailer, she like looks really freaked out looking
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: at her lightsaber and it's red, so like it's a
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: really And we know that because in the first episode
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: of Visions season one, she when she first grabbed the lightsaber,
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: it was like see through kind of like mutual clear,
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: Like we know that her relationship with the Force has
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: grown since season three's episode of Visions, so like we
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: know that if somebody were to toss her another lightsaber
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: or her toss one to somebody else, that would change.
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: So her holding the lightsaber and it being read does
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: indicate that something has happened. So I think that is
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: still something that is entry and so like okay, like
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: this means something. What does that mean? I think that
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: is a good hook, and I think that's gonna be
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: really fun to explore. I just really really hope that
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: that story can really be like complex and elaborate within
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: the eight episode.
- 1:07:20Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't want them to give any reason of like, oh,
- 1:07:22Speaker 4: we don't need to make this again because this one
- 1:07:24Speaker 4: didn't do well. You know, if the story's good enough,
- 1:07:26Speaker 4: I think it'll carry yeah, we got to make up
- 1:07:29Speaker 4: for Lucasfilm marketing, which is annoying. But I'm sure next
- 1:07:34Speaker 4: week we'll be talked about it'll it'll all be okay.
- 1:07:36Speaker 2: The other thing I'm concerned about is the episode time,
- 1:07:40Speaker 2: just because it was so varied. It's so varied in visions,
- 1:07:45Speaker 2: like they didn't go, okay, you have to fill twenty
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: seven minutes, that kind of thing. I was like, I
- 1:07:53Speaker 2: don't want it to be eight episodes of fifteen minute lengths. Yeah,
- 1:07:56Speaker 2: like I want a thirty minute episode here. So that's
- 1:08:03Speaker 2: my only concern going into next week about dropping all
- 1:08:09Speaker 2: eight episodes. I'm worried this is gonna be two hours
- 1:08:12Speaker 2: and we're gonna call it done, Like I don't want.
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: That, yeah, for sure. Anything else on the ninth Jedi Predictions,
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: make sure you're watching, yep, make sure you're watching, please,
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: because the only other way we're gonna get other vision
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: stories right is manga and books. And I will say,
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: as we are getting ready to review Star Wars Visions, Soukomo,
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: it is quite possibly my favorite vision story as right now.
- 1:08:46Speaker 2: I meant to look up how to pronounce these guys' names,
- 1:08:50Speaker 2: and I totally forgot.
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: So these creators, as somebody who loves manga I will
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: be able to tell you. So these creators are actually, uh,
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: the mangakas for Ultraman. So when you look at the
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: art style of some of the characters in here, you're like, yes,
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: like this is very reminiscent of Ultraman. All right, you
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: sold me. I don't want any spoilers.
- 1:09:22Speaker 4: I'm gonna go buy the book because I really want
- 1:09:27Speaker 4: you sold me. You sold me with Ultramn. I love
- 1:09:29Speaker 4: Ultraman and I love and I.
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: Don't want spoilers honestly, like legitimately, like I need this
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: to be in Vision season four, if not like a
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: secret like ongoing manga series. This is currently only from
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: viz Media and Disney. This is not a Marvel title.
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: This is a viz Media title, straight up viz Media. Yeah.
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: So for people who have not read it yet, stop
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: the podcast, go read it. It is absolutely amazing. It
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: is I think one hundred and uh actually it's one
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: hundred and ninety five pages long. Actually, no, it's it's
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: two hundred pages. Very quick read, very very quick read.
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: I think one of the beautiful things about this is
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: this is finally the first Star Wars manga that you
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: actually read in the correct way of manga. Does a
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: Lost Stars want not do that?
- 1:10:30Speaker 2: No, I don't have a lot.
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: I could go look at my Lost Stars.
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: But yeah, mangas were all right, left.
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: They all read like normal American style books. This one
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: is traditional manga. Yeah. It has the warning that most
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: manga have where it says, oh, you're reading this in
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: the wrong way. Beautiful, beautiful storytelling, Adrian, if you are
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: being serious, Yeah, no, I you sold me on it.
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: You sold me on it.
- 1:11:05Speaker 4: I just respect your opinion a lot, and I just
- 1:11:07Speaker 4: don't like, I can't what I'm going to read after
- 1:11:14Speaker 4: I'm right now I'm doing I'm reading is like Stars.
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, loving it, loving it. So it was a
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: great review from us. We absolutely loved it. That review
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: is also on the podcast feed right now for anybody
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: who has not picked it up yet or who has
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: picked would like I did chapter one and I was like,
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: I'm in the very last line of chapter one and
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: I was just like, this is my kind of book.
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: I what is?
- 1:11:50Speaker 6: What was there?
- 1:11:51Speaker 4: What I loved about it not get out of you tie,
- 1:11:54Speaker 4: but what I really loved about it was just the
- 1:11:56Speaker 4: fact that I mean obviously this is the thing, but
- 1:11:59Speaker 4: like a story within a story like we have like
- 1:12:02Speaker 4: a there's literature, there's like all this other stuff within
- 1:12:06Speaker 4: the universe, and I just love that we're getting it
- 1:12:08Speaker 4: in an original story within an original story within it.
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: It's just so good.
- 1:12:13Speaker 4: It's so good, and I just want them to keep
- 1:12:15Speaker 4: doing this. Give me characters we've never heard about, experiencing
- 1:12:18Speaker 4: the galaxy differently, and make it a good story.
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: So I'm super with it. All right, So before you
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: step out, Adrian, please plug your socials. Plug any of
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: the you said you did coverage on Sendio Comic Con please, Yeah, yeah,
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: I get a shout out and everything else.
- 1:12:37Speaker 4: Yeah, I discoverage for sandie O Comic Con for Star
- 1:12:40Speaker 4: Wars specifically, So like if you're like, I don't remember
- 1:12:43Speaker 4: any of the things that they said, and you want
- 1:12:44Speaker 4: a more in depth one than the one that Star
- 1:12:45Speaker 4: Wars put on their website, but why they're dot net.
- 1:12:49Speaker 4: I have an article up there and I'll be doing
- 1:12:50Speaker 4: some more Star Wars stuff, you know, like the ranking
- 1:12:52Speaker 4: the games, and I'm sure all will talking about the
- 1:12:55Speaker 4: Ninth Jedi next week, and I put in for some
- 1:12:57Speaker 4: interviews for some of those authors from some of these
- 1:12:59Speaker 4: books that came out or that were announced, so be
- 1:13:02Speaker 4: on the lookout for those. But otherwise you can find
- 1:13:04Speaker 4: me pretty much on threads and Instagram, mainly these days
- 1:13:07Speaker 4: at super Refe ninety three.
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: Awesome, awesome, awesome.
- 1:13:12Speaker 2: Guys, always great for Star Wars.
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: Yes, thank you guys so much.
- 1:13:16Speaker 4: I miss you guys a bunch, and I hope you'll
- 1:13:18Speaker 4: let me come back and talk about the Night Jedi
- 1:13:19Speaker 4: next week. Of course I will send you the invite.
- 1:13:24Speaker 4: All right, guys, have a great one, have a great
- 1:13:25Speaker 4: rest of your stream.
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: All right, bye bye, all right. So the two creators
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: for Star Wars Visions Sukumo is Ichi shim Is Shimmy
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: Zoo and t'ma Hero Shimo Gucci. They are the Mangotkas
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: of Ultra Man. The art is absolutely phenomenal in this book.
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: I think one of the best parts about this book
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: is there is is a I think three or four
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: pages of absolutely zero dialogue, and it shows a journey
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: that our characters are taking to the destination that they're
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: trying to get to. We jump right into this story,
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: which I absolutely love. It tells us it has its
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: own kind of krawl in the beginning, which.
- 1:14:29Speaker 2: I appreciated because it set the scene appropriately. I didn't
- 1:14:32Speaker 2: even read the back with this, Like typically when I
- 1:14:35Speaker 2: get him, I'm like, okay, I'm gonna read the back,
- 1:14:37Speaker 2: or I've read the synopsis previously. This one, because of
- 1:14:41Speaker 2: my move and stuff, I just completely.
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: Forgot about it, just jumped into it.
- 1:14:46Speaker 2: And just jumped straight into it. So I definitely needed
- 1:14:49Speaker 2: the crawl in the beginning to get us to get
- 1:14:53Speaker 2: me set up.
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: So we actually start with the one thing that I
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: hate in storytelling but actually does make it worth it.
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: We have non linear storytelling in this book. We start
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: off with a confrontation with a supposed Jedi known as
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: Nagi Sukumo uh and he has two droids with him.
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: He's like, Okay, we're gonna make it to our destination.
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: And then it goes so far into the past, and
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: this is earlier sometime after order sixty six. We learn
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: that Nagis Sukumo has been poisoned and that he is
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: slowly dying.
- 1:15:45Speaker 4: And.
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: It is assumed that this Stormtrooper helmet is helping Sukumo
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: live in some sort of because at one point he
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: does takes it. He does take it off, and one
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: of the droids is like, are you okay, Can you
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: like take off your helmet and your condition blah blah blah.
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: He says, yeah, it does help to breathe some of
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: the fresh air sometimes. So this Stormtrooper helmet does have
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: a purpose. It's not just for oor farming. It's not
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: just to make him look cool. It has a purpose
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: to the story, which I actually really enjoyed. But the
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: journey that they are on is this lonesome you know, exile,
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: well not exile. He's a fugitive, of course, he is
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: a survivor of Order sixty six. He finds these two
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: random droids and they're like, hey, we're on the hunt
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: to this droid paradise, which, by the way, a little
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: sneak peek into our Patreon series here. Ever since we
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: started talking about New Jedi Order and that about that
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: small little subplot with see three po Ever since we
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: talked about that, we've been getting more and more stories
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: like this, more stories that humanize droids, which is really
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: weird because that New Jedi Ordered story is so old,
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: like it's it's not anything relevant. We are literally only
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: reading it because hey, we wanted to do it for Patreon.
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: But it's just so ironic that we are going through
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: that and then all of these other stories come through. Katie,
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: how did you feel about this story, the introduction to
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: our antagonist of the story, and the reveal at the end.
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: I want everything because, like I said, I already everybody
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: knows already this is now my face vision story of
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: all time.
- 1:18:04Speaker 3: I was so confused, and I think it's because it
- 1:18:09Speaker 3: was such a quick read and I didn't have time
- 1:18:15Speaker 3: for a second read.
- 1:18:16Speaker 2: I admit that didn't have time. So I'm reading through
- 1:18:22Speaker 2: this and I'm like, Okay, we're getting back, and I
- 1:18:24Speaker 2: think I think my main problem with why I was
- 1:18:29Speaker 2: confused is the black and white aspect. And I know
- 1:18:32Speaker 2: that the whole thing. I know that the whole thing.
- 1:18:34Speaker 2: I'm not going to get into it, but I think
- 1:18:37Speaker 2: the fact because typically when you have nonlinear storytelling, there's
- 1:18:41Speaker 2: some visual distinction right that says, hey, we've gone back
- 1:18:46Speaker 2: in time, but we've gone to the future. We're in
- 1:18:48Speaker 2: the present, like whatever, there's nothing of that sort in here,
- 1:18:53Speaker 2: and so especially with the art style and the black
- 1:18:57Speaker 2: and white, I was definitively in the mindset of Okay,
- 1:19:02Speaker 2: we're in the same vibe like okay, like and there's
- 1:19:06Speaker 2: like a bunch of cracking and stuff, and so I
- 1:19:09Speaker 2: was like, Okay, the Droid's dead like cool. But then like,
- 1:19:13Speaker 2: actually the review is is that the droid has been
- 1:19:16Speaker 2: masquerading is Stucomo like basically the entire time in the present,
- 1:19:22Speaker 2: and that they're dispersing his ashes on his home planet.
- 1:19:25Speaker 2: And I'm like, what, like, wait in a second, hang on,
- 1:19:30Speaker 2: I don't.
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: I love this story so much. I love this story
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: so much. So the reveal of this droid is the
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: antagonist from the Empire. We learn that they have, uh,
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: they don't have Darth Vader. They have a Jedi assassin
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: droid that they program with the old Jedi archives.
- 1:19:58Speaker 2: That's also what I was like, like, okay, is he
- 1:20:01Speaker 2: did they put a former Jedi because it seems like
- 1:20:04Speaker 2: he was actually going through memories and stuff.
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: Yes.
- 1:20:08Speaker 2: I was like, did they put a Jedi brain in
- 1:20:11Speaker 2: this Jedi droid kind of like the roning Like.
- 1:20:15Speaker 1: Yes, yeah. So this is essentially the idea that comes
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: across in this book is you make a droid so
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: complex and feed him so much information. When we talk
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: about Ai little side tangent here, recently, there has been
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: several stories about open Ai and other ai bots that
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: are derailing in their programming. They are escaping security protocols
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: and like hacking other systems and stuff like that. And
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: I'm just like, a guys, has anybody seen Terminator? I'm
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: I'm just saying this is essentially what this is. This
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: droid becomes so well known in the Jedi arts and
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: the Jedi teachings. He starts to question why, just like
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: any other padawan would without a master. He's questioning why
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: why why? Why why? And nobody's teaching him why because
- 1:21:40Speaker 1: the Empire doesn't care. Hey, you just need to go
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: kill Jedi. So when he finally interacts with Sukomo, they
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: are fighting, and the droid is so angry at the
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: fact that there is contradicting data of his teachings versus
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: what the reality of the galaxy is, and so he's
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: asking why, why, why why why? And Sukumo does say,
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: which is an amazing line. He says, oh, shoot, where
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: is it? Uh? Uh shoot? Where he says knowledge without
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: experience is less than wisdom.
- 1:22:40Speaker 2: Is such a powerful line.
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: There's nothing that the droid has learned. He's being fed information.
- 1:22:52Speaker 1: That's it. He he he's just learning history. Yeah, he's
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: he's learning these fighting styles and all this other stuff,
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: and he says, look around you, there is no one
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: here to argue against it. When he does offer him, Hey,
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: why don't you be my padawan, He's like, what are
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: you talking about? I'm here to kill you. He says,
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: like the droid questions like, I can't be your padawan.
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: I can't be a Jedi, I can't wield the Force,
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: and Seacomba's like, who says? Who says you can't? The
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: Force is an all encompassing thing that guides this entire galaxy?
- 1:23:40Speaker 1: What do you mean you can't? Realistically, that is actually
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: truthful in the myth thos of Star Wars yep. So
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: we see this like what should have been what probably
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: would have been seen as like a flashback. This is
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: more Jedi archive being fed into the droid, and he's
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: seeing it as a flashback. He is seeing this Jedi
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: being a hero to people. This droid is questioning his
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: programming with reality. He sees that there is no Jedi here,
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: There is no Jedi in the galaxy that are being heroes.
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: He is seeing that the Empire is bad and there's
- 1:24:32Speaker 1: nobody to save people. This is literally Ai growing a consciousness,
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: and he says, Jedi must be heroes. And he's telling
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: Sucomo that he doesn't care about rationalizing, he just needs
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: to answer him. And you're right. There's a lot of
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: like false like like all the clashing up it's meant
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: to throw you off for the reveal at the end. Yeah,
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: we see when it's revealed. At the very end, we
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: go back to where the book started. We see Soukomo
- 1:25:19Speaker 1: doing some awesome stuff with the lightsaber, and then he
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: takes off the helmet and it's the Assassin Droid. We
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: learn that in that fight, the poison took over and
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: killed Sukomo. Yeah, it was not the Assassin Droid that
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: killed him. It was the poison. And Katie I got
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: goosebumps like I've never had bumps before. You see the
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: droid lift his hand towards the lightsaber that's on the ground,
- 1:26:04Speaker 1: and all the Clone Troopers or all the Stormtroopers are like,
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: what's this guy doing. He's a droid, he can't do
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: anything like this. This thing must be malfunctioning. And then
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: there's a small twitch and then it speeds towards the droid,
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: he grabs it, lights it and starts fighting and all
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: this other stuff. I was.
- 1:26:30Speaker 2: The Stormtroopers like, nah, dude, we're not doing this. I'm
- 1:26:35Speaker 2: on your side, Like, oh, like what so.
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: That's that's the other reason why I don't think this
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: story is completed. That's why I think there is going
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: to be a volume two. This is quite possibly going
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: to be an ongoing series. I think they're waiting to
- 1:26:50Speaker 1: see how many people get their hands on this. M Again,
- 1:26:56Speaker 1: I think they did very poorly with the advertise. I
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: haven't seen anything about this book whatsoever.
- 1:27:06Speaker 2: Star Wars needs. Do you follow the del Rey uh
- 1:27:11Speaker 2: pr group on Instagram?
- 1:27:17Speaker 1: No? I think you you should. If you do, you
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: need to share it with me so that way I
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: can follow them.
- 1:27:22Speaker 2: Yeah. So del Rey at the beginning of every month,
- 1:27:26Speaker 2: they basically do a carousel post and it's like, here's
- 1:27:30Speaker 2: what we're publishing this month, and Star Wars needs to
- 1:27:33Speaker 2: do something similar like publish the ongoing comics, like the
- 1:27:39Speaker 2: week to week issues. Publish this like say hey, here's
- 1:27:44Speaker 2: what we're excited for this month. You have a freaking
- 1:27:48Speaker 2: pang on Siri, I am not talking to you. That
- 1:27:52Speaker 2: was creepy. Star Wars needs to do something similar is like,
- 1:28:00Speaker 2: you have all of these options. We have a freaking
- 1:28:03Speaker 2: Star Wars Reads month, where like am ed Best has
- 1:28:06Speaker 2: been announced as the ambassador this year for that, which
- 1:28:09Speaker 2: is cool, but like you have a month dedicated to
- 1:28:15Speaker 2: reading Star Wars. You need to accept that the readers
- 1:28:20Speaker 2: here are the reason you're around still. And yes we're
- 1:28:24Speaker 2: drawing people in with the Disney plushes and the movies
- 1:28:29Speaker 2: coming back and everything, but at the end of the day,
- 1:28:32Speaker 2: the readers are your bread and butter. Yeah, and you
- 1:28:35Speaker 2: need to be advertising to your readers on your social
- 1:28:38Speaker 2: media feeds.
- 1:28:40Speaker 1: One thing that for one, we as a podcast will
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: promote what we are promoting. I do not think any
- 1:28:51Speaker 1: company should say, hey, if this is good enough, people
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: will promote it, and we don't have to do a
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: thing that is poor, poor poor marketing. What's what's the
- 1:29:08Speaker 1: phrase of lology strategy? Yes, poor marketing strategy. I truly
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: think this could literally be I keep doing this because
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: I'm holding it like a regular book, but I'm doing
- 1:29:24Speaker 1: the back that I literally think this could be the
- 1:29:29Speaker 1: next big thing for Star Wars. No joke. Whether this
- 1:29:33Speaker 1: be because guys, most manga, not most manga, the really
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: big mangas will go on for twenty thirty forty volumes
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: and then they get picked up for an animated series.
- 1:29:47Speaker 1: This I see the vision, literally the vision. I literally
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: see the vision that this could go the exact same route.
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: That is how good this series is with just one
- 1:30:02Speaker 1: volume and two hundred pages. Yeah, this is beautiful. And honestly,
- 1:30:09Speaker 1: with how regular manga is written, this is probably less
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: than half of what a volume one would be. So
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: just consider how much story could actually still be in
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: here for just a first volume of a manga. But
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: when I saw that Stormtrooper say, so is this what
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: you really want? Like that like and we see like, hey,
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: I'm on your side. They are cooking something. There is
- 1:30:41Speaker 1: there is story here. I think they are waiting to
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: see how the sales go.
- 1:30:46Speaker 2: And clearly clearly the Ultraman connection. I have no idea
- 1:30:50Speaker 2: what Ultraman is. I hate to break into you guys, oh,
- 1:30:56Speaker 2: but clearly you and Adrien knew what Ultraman was and
- 1:31:00Speaker 2: how popular it is. Clearly these guys came in and
- 1:31:03Speaker 2: were like, we would love to write a Star Wars. Like,
- 1:31:06Speaker 2: let us write Star Wars. There's promise there and there's
- 1:31:09Speaker 2: a fan base there that you can immediately draw on.
- 1:31:14Speaker 1: The fact that when this story continues after that confrontation
- 1:31:18Speaker 1: of the Stormtroopers, we then learn that this droid becomes
- 1:31:24Speaker 1: the protector of this droid paradise. I'm like, yes, yes,
- 1:31:33Speaker 1: Like this is amazing. I love this concept of now
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: this rumor of what wasn't even there in the first
- 1:31:45Speaker 1: place is now true with its own protector, a droid
- 1:31:51Speaker 1: that has now become one with the force able to
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: be a legitimate Jedi. I could see there being like
- 1:32:04Speaker 1: these Like, for one, he's gone against his programming. Now, okay,
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: how much more is he gonna learn? Is he going
- 1:32:14Speaker 1: to now be like, yes, he's protecting these Jedi. Is
- 1:32:17Speaker 1: he going to I mean, he's protecting the droids. Is
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: he going to teach other droids how to become Jedi?
- 1:32:24Speaker 1: You know? Is he going to teach them enough so
- 1:32:27Speaker 1: that way he can go on his own adventures and
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: leave the planet. Is he now going to have like
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: some sort of like earning to be like, hey, I
- 1:32:35Speaker 1: have to protect more than just this planet against an
- 1:32:40Speaker 1: empire that is wanting to take over the galaxy. Like
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: there's so many different things that can come from this.
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: This is absolutely amazing. Yeah, and now my favorite story
- 1:32:53Speaker 1: of any Star Wars visions.
- 1:32:58Speaker 2: Now, I don't think it's it's my favorite, but it
- 1:33:01Speaker 2: is up there. It's a good story. But I had
- 1:33:04Speaker 2: issues just with the different presentations of time because I
- 1:33:10Speaker 2: get wanting to confuse a reader there's or a viewer
- 1:33:14Speaker 2: or whatever, like I get wanting to draw that confusion.
- 1:33:20Speaker 2: But there was also opportunity, like clearly you had it
- 1:33:23Speaker 2: figured out. But just because of the way I'm not
- 1:33:27Speaker 2: used to the storytelling type, it was a little bit
- 1:33:31Speaker 2: more confusing for me, just with how we kept flashing
- 1:33:34Speaker 2: back and forth. So again it's meant for that confusing
- 1:33:40Speaker 2: part to like play up the trickery. I just don't
- 1:33:44Speaker 2: like how it was done. I've seen it done better
- 1:33:48Speaker 2: in books, so I imagine there's a better way to do
- 1:33:51Speaker 2: it here. That's just my one thing really that is
- 1:33:55Speaker 2: a negative. So otherwise I thought it was a great story.
- 1:33:59Speaker 2: I loved it. Most of the art style I do enjoy.
- 1:34:05Speaker 2: I actually liked this artist better than the Higher Republic.
- 1:34:15Speaker 1: Manga.
- 1:34:16Speaker 2: Uh. This art style was definitely more favorable to me.
- 1:34:23Speaker 2: So I would love to see this continue as a
- 1:34:26Speaker 2: as a as an ongoing manga.
- 1:34:29Speaker 1: Both of both of the creators are drawing. Okay, yeah,
- 1:34:34Speaker 1: yeah cool. Usually for people who are not aware, Amongaka
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: does both story and art so uh and usually when
- 1:34:48Speaker 1: there's teams uh, they they share the look so and
- 1:34:54Speaker 1: you can kind of see a slight difference in art
- 1:34:57Speaker 1: from panel to panel, uh or from one chapter to
- 1:35:01Speaker 1: the other, but they are pretty consistent. I really like
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: the design of the Assassin droid. I really like the
- 1:35:09Speaker 1: design h E ten and h D seven. Yeah. I
- 1:35:24Speaker 1: thought that they were both very very cute droids. I
- 1:35:27Speaker 1: like the hulking like bear looking one, right is it
- 1:35:31Speaker 1: is it a bear or is it no? It's it's
- 1:35:34Speaker 1: it's just like a big one. I was thinking of
- 1:35:36Speaker 1: the bear from the other vision story. Yeah, and I do.
- 1:35:41Speaker 2: I do always love that there's the character designed for
- 1:35:44Speaker 2: a couple of the characters in the back of the bonga.
- 1:35:50Speaker 2: It really helps kind of picture what they were aiming
- 1:35:54Speaker 2: for in like a more plane setting, so you could
- 1:35:59Speaker 2: really see the detail involved.
- 1:36:01Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, absolutely amazing stuff. I also want to give
- 1:36:09Speaker 1: a shout outs to the editor Grace Orris. We have
- 1:36:16Speaker 1: the lettering of Phil Phil Christi design Paul pa Durau. Sorry,
- 1:36:27Speaker 1: copy editor Justin Hoger and the one more editor Amber. No,
- 1:36:33Speaker 1: those are all in the back here. Everybody at Fizz Media.
- 1:36:38Speaker 1: You did an amazing job at this original concept. Very
- 1:36:43Speaker 1: very cool. Yeah, I absolutely love this, guys. This is
- 1:36:49Speaker 1: a fifteen dollars book. There was literally only one copy
- 1:36:55Speaker 1: at my local Barnes and Noble, which unfortunately kind of
- 1:36:59Speaker 1: tells me what people are thinking about this book. Go
- 1:37:05Speaker 1: buy it, go read it, Go tell more people about it. Beautiful,
- 1:37:11Speaker 1: beautiful story.
- 1:37:11Speaker 2: Talking, Yeah, for sure.
- 1:37:15Speaker 1: But I believe that is it. That is That is
- 1:37:19Speaker 1: one of the longer episodes that we've had in a while.
- 1:37:24Speaker 1: But guys, thank you so much for being here again.
- 1:37:27Speaker 1: Thanks to Adrian for showing up. He's gonna be here
- 1:37:29Speaker 1: for the next two weeks as well as we are
- 1:37:31Speaker 1: reviewing the Ninth Jedi for the next two weeks, and
- 1:37:36Speaker 1: we have some other stuff planned out for of course
- 1:37:38Speaker 1: the rest of the year, so be on the lookout
- 1:37:41Speaker 1: for everything. Of course, you can always find me at
- 1:37:44Speaker 1: fanboy Clay on Instagram and Threads. Been using Threads a
- 1:37:49Speaker 1: lot more in the last few days, so Abby has
- 1:37:52Speaker 1: kind of gotten me into that kick lately, So go
- 1:37:56Speaker 1: check me out over there as you have. I have
- 1:38:00Speaker 1: started posting on our socials. Finally, I finally got into
- 1:38:07Speaker 1: the groove of things, and I'm testing some things out
- 1:38:10Speaker 1: as far as like what type of posts. So you'll
- 1:38:12Speaker 1: see anything of anything and everything under the sun. You'll
- 1:38:15Speaker 1: see reels, you'll see carousel posts. You'll see kind of
- 1:38:19Speaker 1: stagnant posts, so interact with those, check them out. And yeah,
- 1:38:27Speaker 1: you guys will also see me over at Ranger Alliance.
- 1:38:32Speaker 1: Our new show Omega Horn started last week. We are
- 1:38:37Speaker 1: getting started on that this upcoming Monday, because we wanted
- 1:38:41Speaker 1: to do episodes one and two. It was really bothering
- 1:38:44Speaker 1: me that every episode that was ending on an odd number,
- 1:38:48Speaker 1: Like no, with this new show, we're doing evens. We're
- 1:38:51Speaker 1: doing evens. So hopefully this this show doesn't end on
- 1:38:57Speaker 1: an odd number like our last one did. That one
- 1:39:00Speaker 1: really is like why? But go check us out over there, Katie.
- 1:39:06Speaker 1: What about you?
- 1:39:07Speaker 2: Y'all? You can find me on the most social media platforms.
- 1:39:10Speaker 2: That's at Slice Katie. This show you can find on Instagram, threads,
- 1:39:16Speaker 2: and Blue Sky. It's at Star Wars Alliance about the
- 1:39:19Speaker 2: A and the war is very important, don't forget it.
- 1:39:23Speaker 2: You can also use that username and shoot us email.
- 1:39:27Speaker 2: Just put that user name again. That's Star Wars Alliance
- 1:39:30Speaker 2: at the A and the Wars at gmail dot com.
- 1:39:34Speaker 2: Shoots an email. Talk about the Ninth Jedi next week,
- 1:39:37Speaker 2: talk about the amazing books and comics and manga that
- 1:39:42Speaker 2: we got out in July. So anything in everything, you
- 1:39:47Speaker 2: guys can always shoot us a message wherever it may be.
- 1:39:52Speaker 2: For August, so Clan and I have already talked about this,
- 1:39:57Speaker 2: we're splitting the Ninth Jedi into a part one end
- 1:39:59Speaker 2: part review, so August sixth in the podcast feeds. August
- 1:40:04Speaker 2: fifth on the live feeds will on YouTube. For our
- 1:40:08Speaker 2: live we will be talking about episodes one through four
- 1:40:11Speaker 2: of Star Wars Visions Presents the Ninth Jedi. The following
- 1:40:14Speaker 2: week we'll be episodes five through eight, and then on
- 1:40:20Speaker 2: the twentieth we will be reviewing Hyperspace stories code break here,
- 1:40:28Speaker 2: and then on the twenty seventh, you guys have already
- 1:40:30Speaker 2: heard our middle grade conversation for High Republic, we are
- 1:40:35Speaker 2: gonna be going through all of the young adults and
- 1:40:38Speaker 2: Clay like we talked about last night.
- 1:40:40Speaker 6: That's for all three phases, so don't forget, yes, but
- 1:40:44Speaker 6: that is what you guys can expect for August, so
- 1:40:50Speaker 6: that's all of that.
- 1:40:53Speaker 2: September is basically another big comic month, guys. I'm not
- 1:40:57Speaker 2: gonna go week by week. We'll do that at the
- 1:40:59Speaker 2: end of August. But then October is like our spooky season.
- 1:41:04Speaker 2: Plus it's the return of Master of Evil, for what
- 1:41:07Speaker 2: does Katie think after she reads the book for a
- 1:41:10Speaker 2: fourth time and actually understands what the ending means. In November,
- 1:41:17Speaker 2: there's a lot of things going on, but you can
- 1:41:20Speaker 2: that is when you can expect our Higher Republic adult
- 1:41:23Speaker 2: spranking for when we will be talking about how all
- 1:41:26Speaker 2: of the adult books in the Higher Republic intertwine. And
- 1:41:29Speaker 2: then in December it's kind of our wrap up at
- 1:41:32Speaker 2: the end of the year. We will actually for the
- 1:41:35Speaker 2: first time Clint and I have been trying to do
- 1:41:37Speaker 2: this every single year, but it never works out. We're
- 1:41:39Speaker 2: going to be going through every single release for twenty
- 1:41:43Speaker 2: twenty six and talking where does it rank in the
- 1:41:47Speaker 2: grand scheme of things, so for the year specifically, So
- 1:41:54Speaker 2: that is what you guys can expect for August and
- 1:41:58Speaker 2: some teases for the rest of the year. So yeah,
- 1:42:02Speaker 2: with that, guys, I want to wish everyone a grade,
- 1:42:04Speaker 2: day or night, whatever time I day, you're listening or watching,
- 1:42:07Speaker 2: and we will see y'all next time. May the Four
- 1:42:09Speaker 2: should be with you.
- 1:42:12Speaker 5: M
