- 0:00Speaker 1: But it was you who created the monster, Dr.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Frankenstein. It's one more thing. Armstrong and Getty.
- 0:08Speaker 3: One more thing.
- 0:10Speaker 1: Two quick things before we get to that, whatever that is. One.
- 0:15Speaker 1: I'm texting all anybody I know. Please go see the
- 0:19Speaker 1: Elizabeth Holmes documentary because I need somebody to talk to
- 0:21Speaker 1: about it. I'm seeing it this afternoon. It has such
- 0:24Speaker 1: an effect on you. You want to talk to people
- 0:26Speaker 1: about it right away. And because I'm a misanthrope, I
- 0:29Speaker 1: don't need anybody to talk to about it. Even though
- 0:30Speaker 1: it was a packed theater. I wanted to pull strangers aside.
- 0:33Speaker 2: What the F?
- 0:35Speaker 1: Because that's what everybody was saying. You should have.
- 0:37Speaker 2: Stood at the exit. Excuse me. Excuse me.
- 0:40Speaker 3: I'm major media figure Jack Armstrong, and I would like
- 0:44Speaker 3: to know your impressions of this masterpiece we have witnessed.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Well, everybody who's chatting like crazy, I should have said,
- 0:49Speaker 1: all right, who needs to debrief? Let's all gather up.
- 0:53Speaker 1: Holy crap. Second thing I wanted to bring up. Somebody
- 0:59Speaker 1: tweeted this, I think, the other day. You know how
- 1:01Speaker 1: the tipping thing is out of control? You go someplace
- 1:05Speaker 1: and they want you to tip for, you didn't used
- 1:07Speaker 1: to tip because you're at an auto parts store and
- 1:10Speaker 1: the guy rang you up for the battery. Why am
- 1:13Speaker 1: I tipping you?
- 1:14Speaker 4: There's a restaurant that I just visited over the weekend.
- 1:17Speaker 5: You walk in, there's a bunch of employees behind the counter,
- 1:21Speaker 5: but they aren't there to help you. Apparently they're there
- 1:24Speaker 5: to make the food. And so you go up to
- 1:26Speaker 5: a little kiosk and you assemble what you want. And
- 1:29Speaker 5: then there's a tip jar next to it. And I
- 1:31Speaker 5: know that it's.
- 1:31Speaker 4: For the people back there, but it's just like, I
- 1:34Speaker 4: don't know.
- 1:34Speaker 1: It was weird. Yeah, it does feel different. But anyway,
- 1:38Speaker 1: so apparently this is the thing. Somebody ordered something online
- 1:42Speaker 1: and then was paying for it with PayPal. And then
- 1:44Speaker 1: underneath where you pay, how much would you like to tip? None? 10%
- 1:49Speaker 1: or 20%? For ordering something online. Wow.
- 1:55Speaker 5: Go Fund Me has an area where you can tip
- 1:57Speaker 5: the Go Fund Me Foundation.
- 1:59Speaker 1: I don't know. What is the traditional tip for a
- 2:02Speaker 1: computer fulfilling an order that will then get loaded onto
- 2:06Speaker 1: a truck and shipped to me? What?
- 2:08Speaker 2: And where's this money going? Is it to the guy
- 2:10Speaker 2: in the warehouse, the guy in the truck? Who knows?
- 2:13Speaker 1: The company.
- 2:15Speaker 2: And that's absurd.
- 2:16Speaker 1: Out of control.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Yeah, I'd say.
- 2:18Speaker 3: So a couple of videos have attracted my attention in
- 2:22Speaker 3: recent days that I found just unbelievable. One of them
- 2:26Speaker 3: is in French. Perhaps you've seen it if you're online.
- 2:30Speaker 3: It's a French debate show, interview show, which is pretty good,
- 2:34Speaker 3: in which a upscale white woman is lecturing people about
- 2:41Speaker 3: how the violence is justified because people are suffering and
- 2:44Speaker 3: we need revolution and all. And this black immigrant woman
- 2:48Speaker 3: who built a business said, hey, my business got wrecked.
- 2:52Speaker 3: And the hot, rich white woman says, well, your business
- 2:56Speaker 3: is nice, but that's collateral damage.
- 2:58Speaker 1: We're starving. People are starving.
- 3:01Speaker 2: And this gal just owns her, just murders her.
- 3:05Speaker 3: Rhetorically speaking, talking about how hard she works and blah, blah, blah.
- 3:08Speaker 2: This is her dream.
- 3:09Speaker 1: This is her life.
- 3:09Speaker 2: And my shop isn't cute. It's my life. And this white.
- 3:14Speaker 3: Gal who's your typical, you know, as Matt Taibbi put it,
- 3:17Speaker 3: upscale nitwits promoting revolution, is just comes off as such
- 3:22Speaker 3: a twit. If it were not in Spanish and I'd
- 3:26Speaker 3: have to translate, I'd play it for you. But it's delicious.
- 3:28Speaker 3: It's fantastic. And then on a similar note, this one.
- 3:34Speaker 3: We're 90% sure this is from Portland. This is the Dr.
- 3:37Speaker 3: Frankenstein reference. This is a Portlandia female, white, 30-ish, maybe
- 3:45Speaker 3: a little younger, I don't know, college-educated, dressed in a
- 3:49Speaker 3: nice little jumpsuit with a blonde ponytail. She gets into
- 3:53Speaker 3: a traffic dispute with a dude. who is, I don't know,
- 3:57Speaker 3: maybe part Asian, part something or other.
- 4:00Speaker 4: He said he was Native American.
- 4:01Speaker 2: Oh, is that it? Okay, good, good, good. I missed that.
- 4:04Speaker 2: The audio is a little iffy.
- 4:06Speaker 3: And she being a wokester and he being a woke victim,
- 4:14Speaker 3: according to her and her wokester arguments, I don't mean
- 4:18Speaker 3: arguing back and forth.
- 4:19Speaker 2: I mean her arguments like you would make in a courtroom.
- 4:23Speaker 3: The two of them are trying to have a road
- 4:26Speaker 3: rage incident, but they're too woke to know how.
- 4:31Speaker 2: This is one of the best things ever. Michael, we
- 4:33Speaker 2: may be pausing it. Hit it.
- 4:34Speaker 1: I don't have time to waste on calling.
- 4:36Speaker 4: She told me.
- 4:37Speaker 1: She told me to go back to where I came from.
- 4:40Speaker 1: You're driving.
- 4:41Speaker 4: We don't drive.
- 4:41Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:43Speaker 4: We're fucking kind and we make space.
- 4:46Speaker 1: Okay. And as someone who's from here as well, I'm so.
- 4:48Speaker 4: Tired of people driving like you just did.
- 4:50Speaker 1: All right, get out of my face.
- 4:51Speaker 5: It's constant.
- 4:51Speaker 1: Get out of my face. Admit you're fucking wrong and
- 4:53Speaker 1: that it's not.
- 4:53Speaker 3: A race thing.
- 4:54Speaker 4: Admit that you're driving like an asshole.
- 4:56Speaker 3: Admit you're white.
- 4:56Speaker 1: Admit you have a colonizer mindset. It is not about race. Yeah,
- 5:00Speaker 1: I'll tell them.
- 5:01Speaker 5: Yell at me.
- 5:01Speaker 3: It is not about race.
- 5:03Speaker 1: Yeah, it is. It's not a problem here.
- 5:05Speaker 4: If you want things to change, when you fuck up,
- 5:07Speaker 4: do not call the race card. Because you do not
- 5:11Speaker 4: call the shut up.
- 5:12Speaker 1: And don't even get in her face. Do not get
- 5:15Speaker 1: in her face.
- 5:16Speaker 5: You're taking out your pain and oppression on me right now.
- 5:21Speaker 2: Pause it.
- 5:22Speaker 3: That was one of the key lines. You're taking out
- 5:25Speaker 3: your pain and oppression on me right now. She lectures him.
- 5:30Speaker 1: So who's the other person that steps in there?
- 5:33Speaker 2: Oh, there's various.
- 5:34Speaker 1: Okay. But so it sounded like, I mean, you're getting
- 5:36Speaker 1: close to where somebody can throw a punch.
- 5:39Speaker 3: Oh, yeah. Yeah. Because the woke white lady was going
- 5:41Speaker 3: to yell at the lady in the Native American guy's car.
- 5:45Speaker 1: But one of the things they screamed was, you have
- 5:49Speaker 1: a white colonizer mindset.
- 5:51Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 5:52Speaker 3: So she, having promoted that everything's about race every minute,
- 5:56Speaker 3: every encounter, he decides, having cut her off in traffic,
- 6:00Speaker 3: which he later admits, that the only reason she is
- 6:02Speaker 3: in his face is because of race, because of.
- 6:05Speaker 2: Her colonizer mindset. So again, Dr.
- 6:08Speaker 3: Frankenstein is confronting the very monster she has created.
- 6:13Speaker 2: And it goes on.
- 6:18Speaker 1: We are, and it's important.
- 6:20Speaker 2: It's fucking important.
- 6:21Speaker 1: Give it a moment.
- 6:22Speaker 4: If you want anything to change.
- 6:24Speaker 1: If you want, shut up. It's not on me to change.
- 6:26Speaker 1: It's on you and your colonizer mindset.
- 6:29Speaker 5: So get the fuck out of my face now, you
- 6:33Speaker 5: white lady.
- 6:34Speaker 1: You white lady. I'm as angry as you are.
- 6:38Speaker 2: Get out of my face.
- 6:39Speaker 1: Because I'm done.
- 6:40Speaker 3: With this conversation.
- 6:42Speaker 4: Then you'd be walking away. You fucking colonizer. You know
- 6:45Speaker 4: there's work to be done here.
- 6:46Speaker 3: You fucking.
- 6:47Speaker 1: It's not on me. It's on you and your people.
- 6:50Speaker 1: I'm not taking any fucking.
- 6:52Speaker 2: I'm not taking anything.
- 6:53Speaker 1: Pause it again, Michael.
- 6:54Speaker 3: There is work to be done here. I don't need
- 6:58Speaker 3: you walking away.
- 7:00Speaker 4: Yes.
- 7:01Speaker 2: Trying to outwoke each other.
- 7:03Speaker 1: She is a lecturer and the superior being.
- 7:06Speaker 2: He the victim of.
- 7:08Speaker 1: The colonizer mindset. She's not just trying to settle a
- 7:12Speaker 1: traffic dispute. She feels like she's landing a blow for
- 7:16Speaker 1: making the world a better place to live.
- 7:18Speaker 4: This has become a much bigger thing than road rage.
- 7:20Speaker 1: Of course.
- 7:21Speaker 4: She's changing the world right now.
- 7:23Speaker 1: Right.
- 7:24Speaker 3: And he won't let her is the enlightened, woke white
- 7:27Speaker 3: woman because he's too angry. And while she recognizes he
- 7:31Speaker 3: has the right to be angry because the whole colonizing thing,
- 7:34Speaker 3: don't take it out. Don't make this about race.
- 7:37Speaker 5: And I love the person in the test in the background.
- 7:40Speaker 4: You're standing in the middle of the fucking street. And
- 7:44Speaker 4: she goes, this is important.
- 7:46Speaker 1: Give this. Give us a minute. This is important.
- 7:49Speaker 3: Yes.
- 7:52Speaker 1: Yes.
- 7:53Speaker 3: That is great.
- 7:56Speaker 2: Rolling on.
- 7:57Speaker 1: I'm trying to help world peace along. I think it's
- 8:01Speaker 1: okay if we're in the street for a few seconds
- 8:03Speaker 1: for world peace.
- 8:05Speaker 3: I am trying to educate this poor brown man as
- 8:07Speaker 3: to how oppressed he is, and he won't listen to
- 8:09Speaker 3: me because he's trying to make it about race.
- 8:12Speaker 2: Again, Dr. Frankenstein, you took a giant dead man and
- 8:16Speaker 2: raised him. This is not ending well.
- 8:18Speaker 5: More.
- 8:19Speaker 4: Everyone needs to hear how angry you are, but it's
- 8:22Speaker 4: not about this.
- 8:23Speaker 1: It's not about what just happened.
- 8:26Speaker 4: Get out of my face.
- 8:28Speaker 1: Why can't you just walk?
- 8:29Speaker 4: You're in my space. You're in my space.
- 8:32Speaker 1: You're breathing my air.
- 8:34Speaker 4: You fucking colonized it.
- 8:37Speaker 1: Get out of my face!
- 8:39Speaker 4: And don't give me those white tears and the fake
- 8:41Speaker 4: white tears and the fake condescending look.
- 8:44Speaker 1: You don't know the pain of my people.
- 8:45Speaker 2: All right, pause it.
- 8:48Speaker 3: Don't give me your fake white tears and your white
- 8:51Speaker 3: condescending blah, blah, blah.
- 8:53Speaker 1: I don't think I was following.
- 8:54Speaker 2: I think I do now.
- 8:55Speaker 1: So she is.
- 8:58Speaker 1: She doesn't think you can have a traffic dispute. There
- 9:01Speaker 1: has to be an underlying cause. His anger. The reason
- 9:04Speaker 1: he's so angry is the systemic something or other that
- 9:09Speaker 1: has affected his entire life. It's not about the little
- 9:13Speaker 1: traffic dispute.
- 9:15Speaker 2: Right.
- 9:15Speaker 3: His anger is. She initially called him out for his
- 9:18Speaker 3: idiotic driving. But then he's accusing her of just being
- 9:22Speaker 3: a racist.
- 9:23Speaker 1: You're not mad.
- 9:24Speaker 2: Oh, no, no, no.
- 9:24Speaker 1: I'm woke. You're not mad because what was the original offense?
- 9:27Speaker 1: We both won the same parking spot or you cut
- 9:29Speaker 1: me off or whatever. You're not mad about that.
- 9:31Speaker 2: He cut her off, yeah.
- 9:32Speaker 1: You're not mad about that. You're mad because of systemic racism.
- 9:36Speaker 5: She was trying to get him to get to the
- 9:39Speaker 5: level of we're on the same team.
- 9:41Speaker 1: But it just went. Desperate for that. Completely the wrong way.
- 9:45Speaker 1: But you see, sometimes you're on the same team. One
- 9:49Speaker 1: person doesn't see the other person and pulls in front
- 9:51Speaker 1: of them.
- 9:52Speaker 2: It drives like an animal. Go on, Michael.
- 9:55Speaker 1: Get out!
- 9:56Speaker 4: I'm going to stand here with you until you walk away.
- 9:59Speaker 4: Because what you did was wrong. and then you made
- 10:01Speaker 4: it about race.
- 10:01Speaker 1: That's fucked up. You told me, she told me to
- 10:04Speaker 1: get back to where I came from. Where am I from?
- 10:07Speaker 4: I'm from Warren Street, red!
- 10:10Speaker 3: Where she and her white colonizing mindset put me in.
- 10:15Speaker 4: Oh, I don't care.
- 10:16Speaker 3: Oh, I don't care.
- 10:17Speaker 1: Put it on the internet. What is the reality?
- 10:19Speaker 3: She told me to come back to where I came
- 10:21Speaker 3: from just because I made a simple mistake.
- 10:25Speaker 4: You pulled in front of my car in my lane.
- 10:28Speaker 1: Yes. Yeah, just to get around the car. All right, pause, pause. Okay,
- 10:33Speaker 1: now it's funny.
- 10:34Speaker 2: I didn't get to this the first time.
- 10:35Speaker 3: I think she said, you got to go back to
- 10:39Speaker 3: where you came from.
- 10:40Speaker 2: Because you're like going the wrong way on this one-way street.
- 10:43Speaker 1: Yes, that's exactly what happened.
- 10:44Speaker 3: She told me I've got the upper hand now because
- 10:46Speaker 3: I'm more victim-y.
- 10:48Speaker 2: And she's like, but I'm more enlightened.
- 10:50Speaker 1: Yep. Oh, this is so funny.
- 10:54Speaker 3: If somebody wrote this, they should win The Nobel Prize,
- 10:59Speaker 3: the Grammy, the Emmy, the Major League Baseball batting title.
- 11:05Speaker 3: But no, you couldn't write this. There's a little more.
- 11:09Speaker 1: She, um.
- 11:13Speaker 1: If I were in that situation with a guy that unhinged,
- 11:15Speaker 1: I'd think this is going to turn physically violent.
- 11:18Speaker 4: Oh, I mean, I would have been very nervous if
- 11:21Speaker 4: I was her.
- 11:21Speaker 1: Does he have the weedy hippie look like you don't
- 11:23Speaker 1: have to worry about it?
- 11:24Speaker 2: No, he was actually a pretty beefy guy.
- 11:26Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 11:26Speaker 2: And he was on the edge of losing control.
- 11:28Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:29Speaker 4: He got right in her face a couple of times.
- 11:32Speaker 3: Yep. I'm out.
- 11:33Speaker 1: Then go.
- 11:34Speaker 2: But I hope you have a conversation about this.
- 11:36Speaker 1: I hope you shut the fuck up. I hope you
- 11:39Speaker 1: shut the fuck up. And I hope you go back
- 11:40Speaker 1: to fucking Europe.
- 11:42Speaker 3: You bitch.
- 11:43Speaker 2: Channel your anger in a productive way because this is
- 11:45Speaker 2: not it.
- 11:46Speaker 3: It's not on me.
- 11:47Speaker 1: It's not on me to.
- 11:48Speaker 2: Channel my anger.
- 11:49Speaker 4: It's not a good representative of the human being you are.
- 11:52Speaker 1: I didn't come to send you water. Admit when you're wrong.
- 12:01Speaker 1: I'm going to start using that line.
- 12:03Speaker 4: I'm okay, but that's not the.
- 12:08Speaker 1: Point. I'm sorry. I'm going to use that line on somebody.
- 12:12Speaker 1: This is not a good example of the human being
- 12:14Speaker 1: you are. Yeah.
- 12:15Speaker 4: And then there's like 30 people videoing this.
- 12:19Speaker 1: They're all, are you okay?
- 12:20Speaker 4: She's like, I'm all right, but that's not the point.
- 12:22Speaker 5: She walks and gets into her just like spray painted.
- 12:27Speaker 3: Sticker covered Exactly. Woke car that says interdependence now. Yeah.
- 12:34Speaker 1: And the coexist sticker.
- 12:36Speaker 3: She is the poster child for Portlandia woke.
- 12:40Speaker 4: So beautiful.
- 12:41Speaker 1: You sure it wasn't Fred Armisen in a wig?
- 12:44Speaker 2: No, it was too good.
- 12:46Speaker 1: That almost seems too perfect. The car.
- 12:50Speaker 2: The thing she says. Oh, I know. It's exquisite.
- 12:56Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 12:56Speaker 1: He overreacted to you got to go back.
- 13:00Speaker 3: Go back to where you came from. That was probably,
- 13:06Speaker 3: in retrospect, a poor way to phrase it. Can you
- 13:09Speaker 3: put your car in reverse would have been more productive,
- 13:12Speaker 3: given the whole racial dynamics, which is what everything needs
- 13:16Speaker 3: to be about every minute, according to her philosophy.
- 13:21Speaker 1: Well, yeah, unless you didn't spend your time thinking about that,
- 13:24Speaker 1: you wouldn't react that way anyway. If you told me
- 13:27Speaker 1: to go back where I came from as a driver,
- 13:29Speaker 1: I would think, I would think about that.
- 13:31Speaker 2: I would think about that.
- 13:32Speaker 1: I think you colonial white bitch.
- 13:34Speaker 2: That's what I would think.
- 13:35Speaker 1: Right. You colonizer.
- 13:37Speaker 2: You colonizing bitch.
- 13:39Speaker 4: Back of her car. Interdependence.
- 13:40Speaker 5: Then there's another one. Visualize world peace. You are the dream.
- 13:46Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 13:47Speaker 1: I like the visualize world peace. You're not being the
- 13:54Speaker 1: best example of a human being. Okay, that would have
- 14:00Speaker 1: made me twist off. Okay, now I want to hit you.
- 14:03Speaker 1: You got to quit saying stuff like that.
- 14:05Speaker 3: In one video, we have the implicit racial paternalism that
- 14:10Speaker 3: makes her performative woke empathy possible, the consequent counter-racism and
- 14:14Speaker 3: entitlement she enables, and the total breakdown of social trust
- 14:17Speaker 3: and order that everyone has to endure as a result
- 14:19Speaker 3: of it.
- 14:20Speaker 2: It's a work of art.
- 14:21Speaker 1: You're right, Katie. The best part is somebody yelling at you.
- 14:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:28Speaker 4: We need to handle this.
- 14:31Speaker 1: Give it a minute. This is important. This is important.
- 14:34Speaker 3: Yes. My favorite part is probably, you white lady.
- 14:39Speaker 1: Right.
- 14:41Speaker 4: That's an insult now.
- 14:43Speaker 1: Oh, gosh. It is an insult. I hear my son
- 14:45Speaker 1: and his friends using that, and I don't know what
- 14:47Speaker 1: they mean by it, and I've asked them.
- 14:50Speaker 5: Well, because it's become kind of a thing on the
- 14:52Speaker 5: internet where it's always white ladies that are complaining to
- 14:56Speaker 5: the manager or having moments.
- 14:57Speaker 1: Like this one. I guess it's like a Karen thing.
- 15:00Speaker 4: Yeah, it's Karen without the name.
- 15:03Speaker 2: With a little racism mixed in.
- 15:07Speaker 4: Just a smidge.
- 15:08Speaker 1: Wow. That is something right there.
- 15:11Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 15:12Speaker 1: Wow.
- 15:14Speaker 3: That lifted my spirits, tell you what. Anytime I'm down,
- 15:17Speaker 3: I'm going to grab that video and watch it again.
- 15:20Speaker 1: What does she look like just before we go?
- 15:22Speaker 4: Because I haven't seen her.
- 15:24Speaker 3: As I described her, cute, 30, blonde, green jumpsuit, Portlandia.
- 15:32Speaker 2: College educated.
- 15:33Speaker 1: Does she look calm the whole time or does she
- 15:35Speaker 1: look wild-eyed?
- 15:36Speaker 3: No. Oh, not at all wild-eyed. She's lecturing the poor
- 15:39Speaker 3: native on his lack of understanding of the dynamics, the
- 15:43Speaker 3: very dynamics that have made him so angry.
- 15:46Speaker 1: That's something. She's committed to the cause to be able
- 15:48Speaker 1: to stay calm through a guy that close to, like,
- 15:50Speaker 1: punching her in the face.
- 15:52Speaker 5: It reminded me of a like a mom gentle parenting
