- 1:31Maybe I'll put them on a little bit later.
- 1:33I, I don't know, just trying something new.
- 1:35So the headsets started giving me some, some a little bit of
- 1:38headaches. I tried Bluetooth, ear pause,
- 1:43I've tried everything. Nothing seems to work.
- 1:44But anyways, nonetheless, welcome to Veterans Talk on

- 2:41with, you know into the Weeds and tracer rounds and all of you
- 2:46guys out there that make this absolutely possible.
- 2:49So thank you. We have tomorrow is, as most of
- 2:53you know, September the 11th, it is the anniversary of the tragic
- 2:58attacks on America at the World Trade Centers by terrorist.
- 3:03And 25 years is 1/4 of a century.
- 3:07That's a long time and there's a lot of things that we think
- 3:12about when it comes to September 11th, but here's something I
- 3:16wanted to share with you that was really, really crazy. 1/4 of
- 3:20a century has passed. It's a terrible day of September
- 3:2311th, 2001. Everybody remembers where they
- 3:26were at. I remember where I was at.
- 3:28I'm pretty sure you, most of you do as well.
- 3:31An entire generation of Americans has now come of age
- 3:35with no living memory of that fateful day.
- 3:39Think about that for a second. If you don't feel old, you will
- 3:41after I read this. My oldest son is 30 years old.
- 3:45He was five years old. My youngest son was literally 2
- 3:48when the tax happened on our country on September 11th.
- 3:52They are now adults and my oldest son says he kind of
- 3:57remembers his mom being sad and and stuff but he doesn't
- 4:01remember much about it. The time is passing.
- 4:06The passing of time must never dim what will forever burn
- 4:10bright in the conscious of our nation.
- 4:13Amid the ashes of Ground Zero, we made a solemn vow to never
- 4:17forget what happened on that horrible day.
- 4:20A vow that must be renewed in every American Heart, taught in
- 4:23every classroom, and honored in every community across our land.
- 4:27That is so true 25 years ago beneath a clear September sky
- 4:31and the peace of our nation was shattered when radical Islamic
- 4:34terrorists hijacked 4 commercial jet planes and converted them
- 4:39into weapons of mass murder. At 8:46 AM, American Airlines
- 4:44Flight 11 was deliberately flown into the North Tower of the
- 4:47World Trade Center in New York City.
- 4:49Shadowing closely behind was United Airlines Flight 175 and
- 4:53with a span within a span of 17 minutes, the South Tower was
- 4:57struck. At that moment became clear that
- 4:59our nation was under attack. Before the morning had passed,
- 5:03both soaring towers, the premier symbol of America's economic
- 5:07strength and prosperity to the world, had collapsed into the
- 5:11city below, claiming thousands of innocent lives and leaving
- 5:14behind unfathomable destruction. The time was 10/20, 8:00 AM.
- 5:21Just 34 minutes later, at the edge of the nation's capital in
- 5:23Arlington, VA, American Airlines Flight 77 was flown into the
- 5:27Pentagon, the fortress of America's military might,
- 5:31striking down members of our armed forces and dedicated civil
- 5:35servants. Amid the smoke and flames,
- 5:37survivors turned back into the burning building to carry
- 5:40survivors to safety. But the horror of that morning
- 5:43was not over. Aboard United Airlines Flight
- 5:4693, passengers learn through frantic cell phone calls of the
- 5:51terror already unfolding in New York and in Virginia.
- 5:54Knowing that their plane was being used as a weapon, they
- 5:57resolved to fight back. Among them was Todd Beamer, A
- 6:01devoted husband, father and man of deep faith who calmly led his
- 6:05fellow passenger passengers in resuscitation of the Lord's
- 6:10Prayer before speaking his last immortal words.
- 6:13Are you ready? OK, let's roll.
- 6:17With those immortal words, the heroes of Flight 93 mounted A
- 6:20daring assault on the hijackers and forced the aircraft down
- 6:24into a field outside Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
- 6:27Just 20 minutes flying time from their intended target of our
- 6:30nation's capital and laying down their lives, those 40 patriots
- 6:35transformed a quiet field into a hollow ground, leaving behind an
- 6:39everlasting testament to unbreakable will of the American
- 6:42people. On Tuesday, September 11th,
- 6:472001, two 1977 innocent souls perished in the most despicable
- 6:52act of terror in the history of our country.
- 6:55Yet amid the wreckage and carriage of that day, the world
- 6:58witnessed the courage, valor, patriotism of American members
- 7:01of the New York City Police Department, Fire Department, The
- 7:04City of New York, Port Authority, the City of New York
- 7:07and New Jersey worked around the clock beside almost 100
- 7:12emergency and 1st Responder agency to save those still
- 7:15trapped in the rubble and to ensure safe evacuation of untold
- 7:19thousands of New York City residents.
- 7:21Rescue workers, medical personnel and thousands of
- 7:24volunteers answered the call, risking their own lives and
- 7:28giving everything they had to help fellow Americans and the
- 7:32hours and days that followed. September 11th, 2001, our nation
- 7:36came together with a unity and purpose that is distinctively
- 7:39American. We mounted as one people, we
- 7:42prayed as one nation, and we resolved with iron will that
- 7:46those who attacked us would feel the full measure of American
- 7:50strength. The terrorists sought to break
- 7:52our spirit. They failed.
- 7:54They sought to divide us. They could not.
- 7:56They sought to make us afraid. Instead, they awakened the
- 7:59mightiest force for justice the world has ever known.
- 8:03In the days, months and years that follow, thousands of
- 8:06American patriots step forward to wear the uniform of the
- 8:08United States Armed Forces. Those included Pat Tillman who
- 8:11was an NFL football player and had $1,000,000 contract.
- 8:18They left behind their families, communities, crossed oceans and
- 8:21carry the fight to our enemy in distant battlefield so the
- 8:24horrors of that September morning would never again reach
- 8:27our shores. For nearly 25 years, 1/4 of a
- 8:30century, an entire generation of warriors served, fought and
- 8:33sacrificed defense of our freedom.
- 8:36Many gave their last full measure of devotion and
- 8:39countless others returned home bearing the scene in unseen
- 8:42wounds of war. Our nation's owe each and every
- 8:45one of them a debt that can never be repaid.
- 8:49That September morning change our country forever.
- 8:51Teach us that oceans alone could no longer shield our homeland
- 8:55from the forces of evil, that liberty must always be guarded
- 8:59by freedom and vigilant people, and the strength of the Republic
- 9:02will always prevail. There is no higher duty than the
- 9:07President of the United States to ensure that the safety and
- 9:10well-being of the American people in the form the very
- 9:14first administration our nation needs to defend for shores.
- 9:24For millions of Americans, the memories of September 11th, 2001
- 9:27remain as a vivid today as they were 25 years ago.
- 9:30We will never forget 9/11 or the 2977 people whose lives were
- 9:36lost, taken from us. We will cherish their memory and
- 9:40will forever hold their families in the enduring embrace of our
- 9:42nation. This was something that I read
- 9:48online and it was phenomenal. It was just absolutely mind
- 9:53blowing when I saw it and I thought it would be justified to
- 9:57read it. Today, on the eve of September
- 10:0011th, 25 year anniversary, I was sitting in the living room.
- 10:05My brother, ironically, who was supposed to fly back on that
- 10:07Tuesday, came back a day early, otherwise he would have never
- 10:10made it back home. And I remember him screaming to
- 10:13me, Michael, are you watching this?
- 10:15We're under attack. It was crazy, absolutely crazy.
- 10:21I remember the pictures that were sent to me of the military
- 10:27base that I was stationed at in Germany with just flowers and
- 10:29roses all around the gate, covering the gate that was
- 10:34closed with two tanks in the front of it protecting the gate.
- 10:36It was the first time I think I ever saw a really threat con
- 10:40alpha, I mean, or, or tricom Delta, whatever it was, you
- 10:45know, AB tried Delta, whatever. I've never seen it like that
- 10:48secure. That post used to be an open
- 10:50post. I mean, anybody could come on
- 10:51it. So our times have changed and
- 10:54like our our times and our nation has changed.
- 10:57Our fight has changed and what we stand for seems to be ever
- 11:02changing. Or is it because what we stand
- 11:07for is freedom, Freedom to speak what we want to speak, freedom
- 11:12to say what we want to say, freedom to speak against our
- 11:15governments. You see, that's a luxury that a
- 11:17lot of us don't have or a lot of people in the country, I should
- 11:19say, or the world don't have, is a speak against our government
- 11:23without some kind of consequence, We'll say.
- 11:29I read an article just the other day about a very famous
- 11:34podcaster in Egypt who was actually charged with drug
- 11:39trafficking and was sentenced to death by hanging because that's
- 11:44how they carry out their death sentence.
- 11:46Could you imagine that living in a country with something?
- 11:49So I don't want to say minor, but something like that would
- 11:54would warrant the death penalty by hanging.
- 11:57Wow, that's crazy. I mean, there's countries like
- 12:00Iran, there's countries like Russia that you can't speak out
- 12:02against the government. Imagine Cuba right now with the
- 12:05communist communism that's going on there.
- 12:08I mean, they can't, they're not allowed to, to, to do anything.
- 12:11I mean, half of them, you know, just aren't allowed to say
- 12:17anything. You know, internet's almost non
- 12:20existent. Think about our freedom
- 12:22sometimes with all this bickering back and forth,
- 12:25sometimes we have to think about our freedom.
- 12:29Wanted to touch base on that. I know that you know, September
- 12:3211th, like I said, the eve of it is right around the corner.
- 12:39Here's a huge question for you when you're thinking about
- 12:41tomorrow. A lot of veterans that like
- 12:44myself and like H Train and and a lot of others who were right
- 12:49there. September 11th, we were, we were
- 12:52sent to go fight our battles shortly thereafter, right?
- 12:58Iraq, Afghanistan, it was, it was, it was hard.
- 13:03It was hard. So 25 years later, you as a
- 13:07veteran, what do you still need to forgive?
- 13:14Need to forgive them yourself, forgive your unit, the
- 13:18government or even people who never really understood your
- 13:21service. What is it that we need to
- 13:23forgive? And that's kind of the touch
- 13:26base that I wanted to do on the show today was asking for
- 13:28forgiveness, right? We're so quick to forgive
- 13:32people, but what about those who we've wronged?
- 13:35And how do we how do we ask for them to forgive us?
- 13:40Interesting. So anyways, as I was saying,
- 13:46this show again, is going to be a little bit based on the 9/11
- 13:49anniversary that is tomorrow. We all know that it's for us
- 13:53that we're that do remember 911. It's still very, very, I mean,
- 13:57it doesn't seem like it's been 25 years ago.
- 14:00It, it almost seems like it was a bad dream that we are kind of
- 14:04reminded of. It's it's very difficult for a
- 14:10lot of people. It really is.
- 14:12I mean, those people who, you know, saw our nation in trouble
- 14:16and turmoil and said, we're going to put on a uniform and
- 14:18we're going to fight for that and we're going to write the
- 14:22wrong that was done to our country.
- 14:27I, I, I know this sounds horrible, but I wish that I
- 14:30could go back to 25 years ago when not just us as a nation
- 14:34came together, but as a world came together, as a world that
- 14:40saw this as pure evil. Today it's kind of looked on us
- 14:43like, well, it happened, right? I mean, with all the politics
- 14:46and everything that's going on in the world today, right?
- 14:49You got Russia and Ukraine, you've got Iran and us, you've
- 14:52got, you know, things going on down in Africa right now.
- 14:57It's just, it is so crazy to sit there and think about how we
- 15:04kind of dismiss being one nation under God, indivisible, with
- 15:09liberty and justice for all. Liberty and justice for all.
- 15:11Those are keywords to our nation and we kind of look and take
- 15:16them for granted. That day on September 11th,
- 15:20there were no Jews, there were no Gentiles, there were no
- 15:22Muslims, there were no Catholics.
- 15:24They were Americans. The very first person killed or
- 15:34firefighter killed, I should say, was I just read an article
- 15:36about this was a chaplain who a lady had jumped from the towers
- 15:42and fell on a firefighter and they both had died.
- 15:46And he was there giving them their last rites when the tower
- 15:49collapsed. And the firefighters pulled him
- 15:51out and laid his body at the church that's there that
- 15:54survived at Ground Zero. That church, by the way, is
- 15:56still there. It's, it's phenomenal.
- 15:58It's a little bitty church, but it's absolutely phenomenal.
- 16:02So again, on the heels of the anniversary of September 11th,
- 16:09take a step back, look around, and remember where you were on
- 16:14that day if you're old enough to remember.
- 16:16And remember how close we all became.
- 16:22You asked for forgiveness. You asked for people to forgive
- 16:31you as well as you forgave others.
- 16:35It was almost like our world was ending as you know it, and we
- 16:40all just wanted to be happy and let people know.
- 16:43People reaching out to people saying they love them, that they
- 16:46haven't talked to him in a long time.
- 16:49So I, I, I, I I'm going to not put that on the back burner, but
- 16:53I'm going to talk more about that.
- 16:57Yeah, that's kind of crazy. There's a report out today
- 17:01noting that 2.4% of new hires at major contractors were veterans.
- 17:082.4% of major contracts are like Bose, Allen, Boeing, Lockheed
- 17:16Martin, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera. 2.4% of new hires and
- 17:22major contracts for veterans, which is below the federal
- 17:24target. So if you're a company out
- 17:28there, huge company like Bose, Boeing, Booz Allen, BAE Systems
- 17:34or anything like that, you guys not hiring veterans?
- 17:38I just don't, I, I just don't get that.
- 17:40Why are they not hiring veterans?
- 17:44Crazy, right? Crazy.
- 17:46Hey, the world of conscious positive thinking.
- 17:49Amazing. By the way, if you're not
- 17:50watching that show on military broadcast radio, go watch it.
- 17:54Amazing show. Listen, I watch it just to get
- 17:58my head clear. Seriously, the VA, here's a good
- 18:06one. the VA says it's claims backlog is below 200,000.
- 18:12Little crickets here. the VA saying that their backlog is
- 18:16below 200,000. It should be 0.
- 18:18Like why do you have backlogs? First time in a couple years?
- 18:22Is the VA getting any better at taking care of his veterans?
- 18:25I don't know. It's, I think it's a hit or
- 18:26miss. I really do.
- 18:27It's kind of like any hospital. I think it's a hit or miss.
- 18:30Like you can go to Salisbury, VA in North Carolina, phenomenal
- 18:34hospital. The staff there is phenomenal.
- 18:36They love what they do. They love their veterans.
- 18:38I mean, they are great. Then you can go to a place like
- 18:42Birmingham, AL where they could care less about the veterans.
- 18:44And I'm saying it right here live where they they are
- 18:49teaching hospitals. So the doctors care about the
- 18:51veterans, but the staff, they're leading up to it challenging,
- 18:55very challenging, very challenging.
- 18:57That's just my opinion though. That is not the opinion of
- 19:01military or gas radio or anybody else.
- 19:03That is just simply my opinion. So as most of you guys know,
- 19:06I've been a little bit down and under the weather.
- 19:08Somebody just wrote me and said, hey, how's it going?
- 19:10It's going good. Everything's going good.
- 19:13And this medicine I'm on, boy, oh boy.
- 19:15I don't know whether I'm coming or going, but most of the time I
- 19:19am coming. So I wanted to leave you guys
- 19:23with something before we take our quick break and it's pretty
- 19:26cool. This is from Scotty Frazier, who
- 19:29by the way, is phenomenal. And if it is something he posted
- 19:35on his website today and it says congratulations, you made it to
- 19:43a new sunrise, The easiest thing to do is lay down and not get
- 19:48up. It takes real courage and
- 19:49strength to live. And you've proven that.
- 19:51And you've proven that you got that because you read it through
- 19:53another sunrise. I know a new new sunrise means
- 19:58more struggles with your PTSD or more struggles with your just
- 20:02life in general. But take heart this you have
- 20:04100% rating of making it through the hard day.
- 20:09The new song that he has out is called Unbroken.
- 20:12We may broke breakdown, but we are not broken.
- 20:15If you guys have not heard him, he's phenomenal.
- 20:18Phenomenal singer, phenomenal guy.
- 20:20He is a good supporter of military broadcast radio, and I
- 20:24think you guys would. Seriously, you guys would
- 20:27seriously like him? So anyways, without further ado,
- 20:31I'm going to take a quick break, grab me some water and we'll be
- 20:34right back. And we're back with Veterans
- 24:34Talk on military broadcast radio with yours truly, DJ Manny Mike.
- 24:37And I wanted to say thank you to the e-mail that I just got said,
- 24:41hey, listen, 9/11 has been very hard for me.
- 24:44I was already in the military for five years.
- 24:47He asked, what? I withhold his name.
- 24:49So I'm going to withhold his name.
- 24:50I was in the Army for five years before 911 hit.
- 24:53I was already a captain. We got called up to Afghanistan
- 24:56once. I just lost the e-mail.
- 25:01Oh, here it is. Guy called to prepare for
- 25:04deployment to Afghanistan. We were not sure what we were
- 25:06getting into, what we were even doing.
- 25:08All we knew there was our country needed us.
- 25:11A lot of us were angry of what happened in 911.
- 25:14But when this, when the dust settled, we got to Afghanistan
- 25:16and everything was said and done, we realized that this was
- 25:19a bigger monster than we had ever thought of.
- 25:22Asking myself years later, as a retired service member, 100%
- 25:26permanent in total, what do I ask for forgiveness?
- 25:31I ask for forgiveness for the long days, long hours away from
- 25:34family, for the time missed. I asked for understanding, for
- 25:39the service that I gave to my country and to my nation.
- 25:43I asked for forgiveness for those who don't understand what
- 25:46it meant to me and many of my soldiers on 9/11.
- 25:53Excuse me? That's pretty powerful if you,
- 25:56if you think about that as a veteran, a lot of people don't
- 25:59understand, right? They don't understand why you're
- 26:01going to combat, why you're going to war.
- 26:04And 911 was very uncertain, right?
- 26:06We, we got sucker punched. I mean, Toby Keith's song was
- 26:10probably one of the best songs written.
- 26:12And when he says in the song lyrics, he says, you know,
- 26:15getting a sucker punch. And then once we could see
- 26:20clearly through our big black eye, we lit up your world like
- 26:22the 4th of July. I forgot to add a sponsor.
- 26:28Sir. Sir.
- 26:29Cool. They sent me this cool little
- 26:30thing right here. It's called Circle.
- 26:32And it's got like a little filter in here.
- 26:34And it's got different flavors you can put in there.
- 26:36It's pretty cool. So yeah, that was a that was a
- 26:39huge, huge thing was, you know, we didn't know what we were
- 26:44expecting. And, and I shared my story with
- 26:46some of you and I'll share it again.
- 26:48We, the first Infantry Division, as you see behind me, I was with
- 26:51the First Infantry Division. We had just came back from a
- 26:54huge long deployment. I mean for the last, we were
- 26:57forward deployed in Germany. And for, for most of our
- 27:00deployments, we were peacekeeping, We were doing
- 27:03peacekeeping. We're peacekeeping in, in
- 27:06Kosovo, in Bosnia, Macedonia. I mean that's what we wore
- 27:11peacekeepers. And then we got home from
- 27:14Kosovo. We got sent to Iraq.
- 27:17I remember having that peacekeeping mentality where I
- 27:20wanted to just, you know, throw candy at kids and, you know,
- 27:23everybody's going to wave and they're happy to have us here.
- 27:26You know, the hard stuff was done by the 3rd Infantry
- 27:28Division in the 101st and the 82nd and the 24th and all these
- 27:32other divisions that went before us.
- 27:34And we got there in 2004. Well, I got there 2004, February
- 27:3914th of 2004. And I had no idea, no idea that
- 27:47these people were not the same. It wasn't a peacekeeper mission,
- 27:50but yet that's what we were used to.
- 27:52So now it's a different, different beast that we're
- 27:57hunting, a different thing that we're hunting, a different
- 27:59visual idea that we were hunting.
- 28:04So somebody said they could barely hear the stream.
- 28:07I don't, I don't know why. Maybe that's something with
- 28:09Stream Yard. So put my head I'll put my
- 28:13little handy dandy headset on see if I can hear myself and mic
- 28:18check. Yeah, I can hear myself.
- 28:19Can you guys Claudia, can you hear me now?
- 28:25I got H trained in the studio and he's he's not giving me any
- 28:28any voice or anything like that. If but he I see it is not it's
- 28:33not really doing much, is it? How about now mic check.
- 28:36Nope, still nothing. That is crazy.
- 28:40How about now mic check 1212? Is that better?
- 28:43A little bit better, right man, I could I'm like going deaf in
- 28:46my ears right now. So I hope it's better to y'all.
- 28:51How about now mic check mic check.
- 28:56Nobody's giving me any feedback. So I guess we're we're OK, Are
- 29:00we OK? Are we good?
- 29:01We good? We're not good whatever.
- 29:04All right. So, but as I was saying it, it
- 29:06is, it is pretty important that people understand that it was a
- 29:11different, different thing, way of life before September 11th
- 29:16and after September 11th. It was definitely a difficult
- 29:19thing. Claudia H trains in the studio,
- 29:26he said, he said you need to turn up your volume or turn up
- 29:28your hearing aids. I'm just joking, Claudia.
- 29:31I love you, girl. I'm just messing with you.
- 29:34So 911 was again different before 911, military different
- 29:41after 911. That's why we have post 911
- 29:44things and, you know, pre 9/11, right?
- 29:46So for a long time, our mission as soldiers, as the military was
- 29:52for peacekeeping. So I, I, I think it was really,
- 30:01I, I think it is really important that people
- 30:02understand, especially the younger generation of what we
- 30:05had. And it's, it's, it's sad that we
- 30:08have The thing is going on today, like the, the protests
- 30:13and so on and so forth, that these young men and women that
- 30:18are protesting don't understand how this country came together
- 30:2425 years ago on that horrible day.
- 30:27And there's still people asking for forgiveness.
- 30:29Listen, I have a good friend of mine that's from New York.
- 30:31He is a phenomenal individual. He's done very well for himself.
- 30:35He was a New York Police officer during 9/11, and he still feels
- 30:42resentment that he wasn't there and wasn't one.
- 30:46Right. That was on Ground Zero.
- 30:48There's a lot of people that have asked for forgiveness for
- 30:55not being there and not being able to take part of what
- 30:58happened or be a part. Listen, I've been to Ground
- 31:02Zero. I've listened to those
- 31:03recordings. They're online.
- 31:05Listen, if if you are having a bad day, go online and listen to
- 31:09some of those recordings. It is, it is very humbling.
- 31:12It's very sad. You will not be able to have a
- 31:15dry eye. You know, the one recording that
- 31:18I heard today that is pretty powerful is a lady.
- 31:23She's calling her loved ones and she's saying, hey, just want to
- 31:26let you know there's a situation on the plane.
- 31:27Don't worry, I'm not worried. Just want to let you know that
- 31:32you know, there's a situation on the plane.
- 31:33It was one of the planes that, that actually hit the tower, I
- 31:35think. And you know, there's, if you
- 31:38get a chance to go to Ground Zero, there is a, a little
- 31:41memorial that was there. And they had some of the
- 31:44teletypes of the operators that were taking the, the calls
- 31:48because there's so many 911 calls coming in that it was just
- 31:51absolutely bombarding the, the, the, the, the wireless carriers,
- 31:56right. So there was one lady that I
- 32:00wrote. It was a teletype and it says, I
- 32:01don't know who you are, but I connected your wife to you so
- 32:10that she can tell you she loves you.
- 32:12I don't know, she made it. Think about all those operators
- 32:15during that that time. I mean, there are so many people
- 32:19that it's just, it's it's powerful.
- 32:23So listen, I don't mean I don't like to put my personal business
- 32:28out there, but I will tell you this that I asked for
- 32:33forgiveness 6 1/2 years ago. Seven years ago, I made probably
- 32:39the biggest mistake in my life. I want to say the biggest
- 32:43mistake in my life, but I made a huge mistake and I hurt somebody
- 32:45dearly. And I asked for them recently to
- 32:48forgive me for that. And they shared something with
- 32:51me and they said you're better than that.
- 32:56We all, they asked me why it took so long to ask for
- 33:00forgiveness or apologize and I said because I guess I denied
- 33:04myself that because I knew I was wrong.
- 33:08But let me tell you something. The weight lifted off my
- 33:10shoulders when you ask for that forgiveness is so powerful and
- 33:17so, so refreshing, if you will, right?
- 33:23Here's something we all learn. Mistakes are made and we learn
- 33:26from our mistakes and we move on, right?
- 33:28So if you make a mistake, whether it's, I don't know,
- 33:33something at work or make a mistake with cooking and cooking
- 33:37comes out crazy or whatever, we learn from those mistakes when
- 33:40we move on, right? Even the worst people learn from
- 33:43their mistakes sometimes when you learn from that mistake,
- 33:45right, there was a lesson learned and you move on from it
- 33:47and you put in the past and that's it.
- 33:49And you ask for that forgiveness and you move on.
- 33:52There are things that I'm still going to do in the future.
- 33:54They're going to be mistakes and I'm going to ask for forgiveness
- 33:58to not only my God, but to the people that I may make those
- 34:01mistakes to. And I will tell you here that on
- 34:06this 25th anniversary, I think it is only fitting to ask for
- 34:09forgiveness because it's so easy for us to forgive.
- 34:13But to ask for the forgiveness is probably the hardest thing we
- 34:16ever do, right? So asking for forgiveness for
- 34:22your, your, your siblings, for your mom and dad, your aunts,
- 34:25your uncles, family members, friends, people you work with,
- 34:28coworkers, you know. And it's not about asking for
- 34:31forgiveness and saying, hey, you know, I want you to forgive me
- 34:34for drinking your coffee or eating your food that was in the
- 34:36refrigerator and then doing it again.
- 34:38I'm talking about honest, good, wholesome forgiveness and moving
- 34:42on and learning from that mistake and moving on.
- 34:44At first of all, it's never too late to ask for forgiveness and
- 34:49it's never too late to not do it again and to learn from that
- 34:56mistake. I think that's really important.
- 34:59We all make mistakes. We all fall short and and
- 35:04sometimes we got to pick ourselves up and dust us off
- 35:06when we fall. You know, think about when
- 35:09you're a kid. I, I know one incident when I
- 35:11was a kid, I have jumping a ramp and I've done it a million
- 35:14times, a little bitty ramp and I was jumping up on my bike and
- 35:17lady came out. She was a nurse that lived next
- 35:19door to us and she Lois and she said, Michael, be careful.
- 35:22You're going to hurt yourself. And I said, I'm so careful.
- 35:24I can do this with no hands. I jumped a rant with no hands
- 35:29went over the handlebars skin both my knees.
- 35:31She came out peroxide on there bandaging me up and guess what?
- 35:35I never did that again. So I mean bonehead things like
- 35:38that that we do. And I'll even take it a step
- 35:41further. Even if you hurt somebody, ask
- 35:44for forgiveness. I'm sure they'll I'm sure that
- 35:50they have already forgiven you, but ask for forgiveness.
- 35:55So I, I forgive a lot of people, absolutely forgive a lot of
- 35:58people that have done me wrong. I think one of the greatest
- 36:05things though, is when I asked for forgiveness from this
- 36:09individual and they said don't beat yourself.
- 36:12Don't beat yourself up over it. You deserve better than that.
- 36:16And I thought about it. I thought, man, that person's
- 36:20way better than me. I always thought they were way
- 36:24better than me, but that was like confirming it.
- 36:28So that was pretty powerful, pretty powerful lessons learned.
- 36:31And you know, we learned to move on from them.
- 36:34And that's part of I guess healing.
- 36:37You know, September 11th I think taught us all that.
- 36:42September 11th when it happened was our healing moment.
- 36:46It was a one time that I think every single person, not just in
- 36:49America, but the whole entire world said, hey, this is it.
- 36:54This is a wake up call because you never know when that
- 36:59somebody will be gone and you won't have the opportunity to
- 37:03ask for that forgiveness. Something to think about.
- 37:09Pretty powerful, pretty powerful.
- 37:13Listen, if you're just now joining us for the first time,
- 37:16Military broadcast radio has a plethora of shows.
- 37:19I'm just one of them. And I know that a lot of people
- 37:21come on here and watch the veterans talk.
- 37:23And, you know, I talked to a lot of people.
- 37:25They say, yeah, we'll watch your show.
- 37:27And if my show is not your cup of tea, I'm fine with that.
- 37:31This is my healing. This is my healing that I do
- 37:34through this show. I look forward to the show every
- 37:37single week because an opportunity to talk to you about
- 37:40the things that I've done in my life wrong, right or
- 37:44indifferent. And there's there's a song that
- 37:49I'm going to play for you, a video I'm going to show you
- 37:52later on. This is a gentleman that I
- 37:53followed on Instagram. He is an actual Barber in
- 37:58California and he's phenomenal. I've chatted with him online.
- 38:01He is absolutely an inspiration for people.
- 38:05And he would he would go out in the community and give haircuts
- 38:09to the homeless because he was there.
- 38:11He had been there at one time. Now he's very successful, built
- 38:16his his business. He became a Barber to the stars
- 38:20right in California. And now he gives back to this
- 38:22community where he came from. And that's pretty important.
- 38:26I think that the song that he was asked to be in and in the
- 38:31songs kind of circled around him is really important.
- 38:34And the words more importantly, are important.
- 38:37That's a lot of important importance in there, but I think
- 38:40that it is powerful enough to share with you to get you
- 38:44thinking of the upcoming anniversary or the anniversary,
- 38:47I should say, of 911, which is tomorrow and it truly is 25
- 38:53years again. I can't even think about it.
- 38:56If you are 30 years old now, 30 is already like right up there.
- 39:02If you're 30 years old, you were five years old when 911
- 39:04happened. If you were 35, you were 10.
- 39:07If you were 40 years old when 911 happened, you were 15 years
- 39:13old. Think about that for a second.
- 39:20If you were like me and you're in your 50s, you were in your
- 39:2420s. I was actually in my 30s, but
- 39:26that's crazy. 25 years ago and we still remember it.
- 39:32Listen, we're going to take a quick break.
- 39:33When we come back we will talk more on the 9/11 and I'm going
- 39:39to share some stuff with you. I'm looking for a song right now
- 39:42and I'm going to put my glasses on because I wanted to play this
- 39:44song. I saw it online, that H Train
- 39:46had it online. It was pretty cool and now I
- 39:48can't find it. There it is right there.
- 39:49You ready? And this is a pretty cool song.
- 44:52And we're back with yours truly. Magic on Veterans Talk, military
- 44:56broadcast radio. I like the way it kind of like
- 44:58just doesn't even fade or anything anymore.
- 45:00Just cuts back to me. Here I am.
- 45:02It's like this cool video and then all of a sudden my big head
- 45:04in here. So before we took to the break,
- 45:07we were talking about forgiveness.
- 45:09And I want you all to know somebody had wrote me and, and I
- 45:13want to read you what they wrote me.
- 45:14They said asking for forgiveness is a surrender.
- 45:17It's courage. In the military, we're taught
- 45:19accountability. Own your position, own your
- 45:22equipment, own your decisions. That same principle can apply to
- 45:26our relationships. Sometimes one of the hardest
- 45:29forms of accountability is looking somebody in the eye and
- 45:32saying I was wrong, I hurt you, I'm sorry.
- 45:35I'm not asking you to forget it or pretend that it didn't
- 45:38happen. I'm asking you to forgive me.
- 45:41And there's another important part too.
- 45:43They don't owe you forgiveness on your timetable.
- 45:47So when you ask them for forgiveness, don't expect them
- 45:49to turn around and say I forgive you.
- 45:54Don't. I mean don't.
- 45:55Don't expect that Ask sincerely means giving up control of the
- 46:00answer. You're apologizing because
- 46:03taking responsibility is the right thing to do, not because
- 46:05you're guaranteed reconciliation from a Christian perspective,
- 46:13right? Humility, repentance, grace,
- 46:15It's all in Matthew 523 and 24. As a veteran, we understand
- 46:21courage, but sometimes courage isn't running toward the fight.
- 46:24Sometimes courage is walking toward the person you've hurt
- 46:27and saying, I was wrong. Will you please forgive me?
- 46:31That is, that is pretty powerful.
- 46:32Listen, if you are mean to reach out to somebody and ask them for
- 46:40forgiveness, do it. It's hard.
- 46:45It is so hard to ask for forgiveness.
- 46:48It really is. I'm asking you for forgiveness.
- 46:53I'm not going to say your name, but I'm pretty sure you're
- 46:56watching my show. And for our conversation that we
- 47:00had, it's long overdue. You're right, I should have.
- 47:04I should have asked for forgiveness or I should have
- 47:06said sorry many years ago and what I did or didn't do is
- 47:12irrelevant. But I think that when you hurt
- 47:15somebody and they're generally a good person, you owe them
- 47:23apology. Sometimes being the bigger
- 47:26person is asking for forgiveness.
- 47:29It really is. I'm going to play this for you
- 47:31guys real quick. When we come back, I'll I'll
- 47:33talk a little bit more and then we'll we'll let you guys chat it
- 47:37up a little bit because I got people writing me emails.
- 47:39So I want to add this to you guys, share this with you guys
- 47:43and I want you guys to tell me what you think.
- 47:55I know you're hurt, I know it's my fault, but I've kept, I'm
- 48:01sorry, locked in a vault. I know the time this keeps going
- 48:07on and words by themselves can't right all the wrongs and a world
- 48:13that's gone crazy. You don't know what's true.
- 48:17Most people don't change, but some.
- 48:21People Some people say sorry to hear
- 48:57it's OK, but I know it's not. So you don't have to say that
- 49:04you understand 'cause I know you don't.
- 49:08Neither do I. I don't mean that I won't try
- 49:12every day to show you the truth. Most people don't change, but
- 49:20some people do. Some
- 49:33grow up, but it's never a good time on it.
- 49:38Most wouldn't forgive what I put you through, but I'm here
- 49:43tonight hoping some people do. So whether you kiss me or you
- 49:57close the door, know that I'm better than I was before.
- 51:49You know, that's a powerful, powerful song.
- 51:57It really is. It was playing in the background
- 51:59when I was muted just now. So I apologize.
- 52:01But some people, some people do Old Dominion, some people do.
- 52:06So I appreciate them allowing us to play their song.
- 52:11Powerful lesson that you know, on the eve of September 11th, it
- 52:16was a powerful day for our nation and our world.
- 52:19And it was a time when we reached out to others and asked
- 52:22for forgiveness and said OK, do you do you forgive me Or moving
- 52:28forward not asking so much do you forgive me?
- 52:30But actually just asking for that forgiveness because it was
- 52:35so powerful to us, not knowing that tomorrow we could be gone
- 52:39and that that person may live their life for the rest of their
- 52:42life, however long that is, not knowing whether you truly felt
- 52:45sorry or remorseful or loved them or didn't love them or
- 52:51whatever be it. So it's it's something that's
- 52:53powerful. It's yeah.
- 52:59September 11th, 25 years ago. I still cannot fathom that.
- 53:04That was a long time ago, 25 years ago, 25 years ago.
- 53:15Anyway, real quick, I'm not going to beat the dead horse,
- 53:20but somebody asked a question in the chat about the Major Richard
- 53:23Starr Act. It is not dead.
- 53:25They have till December. It's still part of the Taking
- 53:28Care of Veterans Act. Will it be passed this year?
- 53:32You know, it's it's up in the air.
- 53:35There's next year. Would have to go back through
- 53:37the whole process again next year.
- 53:39And you know, the way things are going right now, you know, we,
- 53:42we still have an uncertainty. Hey, look, I don't know where
- 53:45you're at in the world today or in the country.
- 53:47Gas in Korea, I think it was Japan.
- 53:49In Japan it was like $8 a gallon or some craziness like that.
- 53:53We're almost at $4.00 a gallon here bag at home.
- 53:56So yeah, it's, it's getting a little Craig out there with gas
- 54:00and stuff like that. If it continues, man, I'm going
- 54:02to be, I'm be pushing a Dang skateboard.
- 54:04I'm going to learn how to ride a skateboard.
- 54:06Somebody else just asked me that.
- 54:09So would you ride a skateboard? Yes, I would write.
- 54:11I would definitely ride a skateboard.
- 54:13So listen again, 218 signs so far.
- 54:24Elaborate a little bit more on that. 218 signs so far.
- 54:28So somebody wrote 218 signs so far.
- 54:32No, no, no idea what that is, but I I wanted to reiterate that
- 54:38we are a not-for-profit 5O1C3. I always say that backwards for
- 54:43some reason and that we take donations for veterans to teach
- 54:49them how to do not just podcast but radio, TV, television as you
- 54:54both know that are out here watching me.
- 54:57All 2 of you guys, I'm joking, There's more than two people
- 55:00watching. If you're out here watching us,
- 55:02you know that we are on Roku television live and we are also
- 55:06on almost every platform known to mankind.
- 55:09I mean, if there's a new one comes up, we'll probably be on
- 55:11that platform too. But military broadcast radio is
- 55:14for the veterans supporting veterans, and we're here for
- 55:17veterans, not for us. Every show on military broadcast
- 55:21radio is different and it's and unique in its own way.
- 55:24Everything from tracer rounds to into the weeds into there's so
- 55:31many just to to name here. One day I'm going to have a list
- 55:33and I'm just going to go through the whole entire freaking list
- 55:37and make sure that I read everybody.
- 55:40So that'll that'll be fun. That'll be fun.
- 55:45I am hoping to be on the road and be in a foreign country next
- 55:52week to bring you a video. I, I say foreign country.
- 55:55It's really not a foreign country, but it is to most
- 55:57people. And I'm going to be videoing and
- 56:01doing a actual. Oh, so they have 217.
- 56:09Oh, that's what he's saying. So somebody said they have, oh,
- 56:11that's actually H train. H Train said they have 217.
- 56:14They only need one more signature for it to go to the
- 56:16House to be voted on and that's for the for the major Richard
- 56:20star act of taking care of veterans to to go through.
- 56:22So I will be going out and interviewing some very, very,
- 56:29very, very famous Youtubers and they are currently doing AI
- 56:37can't give it away. They're doing an event right now
- 56:39and I've reached out to him on Instagram.
- 56:41They agreed to try and meet up with me.
- 56:45I'm going to try to meet up with him while I'm there, interview
- 56:48them for next week. It is going to be phenomenal.
- 56:51It is going to be good. I promise you.
- 56:52We're going to have a great time.
- 56:54And it's basically, what does it mean to be an American?
- 56:57What does it mean to be an American?
- 57:01Whether you were born in this country or became nationalized,
- 57:04What does it mean to you coming from wherever you're at?
- 57:07And I think that's really important because as a veteran,
- 57:09a lot of the veterans are losing touch, especially today, the
- 57:12young veterans are losing touch of what their mission is and
- 57:14what they're protecting and what they're doing, right?
- 57:16A lot of the kids today are, you know, we're 100% volunteer Army
- 57:20military, right? So a lot of them are going into
- 57:22the military for their college money or, or just to get some
- 57:25kind of an experience or maybe a license that they need.
- 57:29And that's cool. That's very admirable.
- 57:31But really, what is it about right when the when the bullets
- 57:34start flying, when the dust starts getting kicked up and you
- 57:38know you're somewhere where you don't want to be?
- 57:41What does it mean to be AUS military member at that time?
- 57:44And what does it freedom mean to you?
- 57:47So I yeah, I'm excited. I'm excited, really excited.
- 57:52So I've been trying to get an interview with them forever.
- 57:54So if you're out there again and you would like to e-mail me or

- 58:29Hey, you can call live on the show.
- 58:30Doesn't mean we're going to answer half the time.
- 58:33We got the answer machine on. I'm joking.
- 58:35Calling live your show. We'll have a good time.
- 58:37Listen, we're almost at the end of my show.
- 58:39We have a show following right away, so I have to keep the
- 58:41schedule. I know this has been kind of a a
- 58:44whole humbug, mundane type of thing, but I didn't want it to
- 58:48be. I want you guys to always,
- 58:50always, always, always have an opportunity to interact with me,
- 58:57interact with the shows that were out there.
- 58:58Listen, we have a cigar show for goodness sake, and I love
- 59:01cigars. Can't have them anymore, but I
- 59:03love them and we have every kind of show that you can think of.
- 59:08Download the app doesn't cost anything.
- 59:10And guess what? What's a couple bucks, man?
- 59:13Throw a couple bucks towards the show so you can get a veteran to
- 59:16get this his cool equipment like this stuff right here.
- 59:18This is this is expensive. It's like $200 set up right.
- 59:22We can bless another veteran with it.
- 59:24I have a show and I donate, donate, go to the website MB
- 59:30radio dot US and donate. So the producer of my show said
- 59:39we may answer the phone. It depends on our mood.
- 59:42I think that's pretty hilarious. But anyways, 25th anniversary
- 59:46tomorrow, I don't know how you are going to be acknowledging
- 59:50that, but I hope that you think about the 2997 souls that were
- 59:56lost on that day and all those who defended our nation.
- 59:59Thank you as always, for tuning into my show, for joining me,
- 1:00:04for those of you out there. Thank you so much.
