- Lucas: Velkommen til Learn Danish with Fexingo. I'm Lucas, and as always, I'm here with Luna. Luna: Hej! I'm so excited for today. We're going back to the library, right? Lucas: Yes, we're picking up where we left off in episode 141. Today, we're going to learn how to ask for book recommendations and renew loans. Luna: Oh, perfect! I always struggle when I want to find a new book in Danish. Lucas: So the first phrase is: Kan du anbefale en god bog? That means 'Can you recommend a good book?'. Luna: Kan du anbefale en god bog? Lucas: Exactly. Let's break it down: 'kan du' is 'can you', 'anbefale' is 'recommend', 'en god bog' is 'a good book'. So: Kan du anbefale en god bog? Luna: Kan du anbefale en god bog? I think I've got it. Lucas: Perfect. Now, if you want to ask how to borrow a book, you say: Hvordan låner jeg en bog? That's 'How do I borrow a book?'. Luna: Hvordan låner jeg en bog? That's useful. Lucas: Yes. 'Hvordan' means 'how', 'låner' is 'borrow', 'jeg' is 'I', 'en bog' is 'a book'. So: Hvordan låner jeg en bog? Luna: Hvordan låner jeg en bog? So if I'm at the desk, I can say that. Lucas: Right. Then, when you've found a book, you say: Jeg vil gerne låne denne bog. That means 'I would like to borrow this book'. Luna: Jeg vil gerne låne denne bog. 'Denne bog' is 'this book'? Lucas: Exactly. 'Jeg vil gerne' is 'I would like', 'låne' is 'borrow', 'denne bog' is 'this book'. So: Jeg vil gerne låne denne bog. Luna: Jeg vil gerne låne denne bog. I can imagine using that a lot. Lucas: Now, the librarian might tell you how long you can borrow it. But you can also ask: Hvor længe kan jeg låne den? That's 'How long can I borrow it?'. Luna: Hvor længe kan jeg låne den? 'Hvor længe' is 'how long'? Lucas: Yes. 'Kan' is 'can', 'jeg' is 'I', 'låne' is 'borrow', 'den' is 'it'. So: Hvor længe kan jeg låne den? Luna: Hvor længe kan jeg låne den? And if I need to renew? Lucas: You say: Jeg vil gerne forny mit lån. That means 'I would like to renew my loan'. Luna: Jeg vil gerne forny mit lån. 'Forny' is 'renew', 'mit lån' is 'my loan'. Lucas: Perfect. So let's practice a mini dialogue. Imagine you're at the library desk. Luna: Okay, I'll be me. Hej! You've got it. Let's repeat all the phrases once more. Kan du anbefale en god bog? Luna: Kan du anbefale en god bog? Lucas: Hvordan låner jeg en bog? Luna: Hvordan låner jeg en bog? Lucas: Jeg vil gerne låne denne bog. Luna: Jeg vil gerne låne denne bog. Lucas: Hvor længe kan jeg låne den? Luna: Hvor længe kan jeg låne den? Lucas: Jeg vil gerne forny mit lån. Luna: Jeg vil gerne forny mit lån. Luna: I'm going to practice these phrases until I can say them without thinking. Lucas: That's the spirit. Tak for joining us today. See you next time for more Danish. Luna: Hej hej!
