- 0:10Speaker 3: The World's a vegetal podcast.
- 0:17Speaker 4: Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. I think the main thing is
- 0:22Speaker 4: doesn't look like him. Conquer that that's half the battle.
- 0:25Speaker 5: I can't help but think of Rocky three and mister
- 0:27Speaker 5: T and this with the statue unveiling.
- 0:29Speaker 6: And like Peyton Mann's gonna come crash this and like
- 0:32Speaker 6: hit on Tom Brady's girlfriend in front of us.
- 0:36Speaker 4: Tom has the jay Z song. Right, we can't humme
- 0:39Speaker 4: it or else we'll be soon.
- 0:40Speaker 7: The NFL network does not go on my TV at
- 0:43Speaker 7: this time of year.
- 0:44Speaker 4: But because I was becoming more like Eric too. If
- 0:48Speaker 4: James Pettiger wants to refer to himself as the most
- 0:50Speaker 4: interesting Patriots fan in the world, I refer to him
- 0:53Speaker 4: as that Fred doesn't refer to him.
- 0:56Speaker 7: But anyway, when the head coach talks about the tackles versatility.
- 1:00Speaker 5: But or we kind of in my head a little
- 1:02Speaker 5: or we could like actually realize what he's talking about.
- 1:04Speaker 5: When he says versatility, he's talking about versatility in terms
- 1:07Speaker 5: of the different blocks that he can make.
- 1:08Speaker 7: So like it's one way I looked at him. You've
- 1:10Speaker 7: decided what way it is?
- 1:11Speaker 4: Question for Evan and Paul? How special do you guys
- 1:14Speaker 4: feel being on Duce's training camp? Wrap up?
- 1:16Speaker 8: There we go?
- 1:18Speaker 4: All right? Eighty five to five past five hundred is
- 1:20Speaker 4: the Hotline podcast at Patriots dot.

- 1:45Speaker 4: Welcome the Patriots Unfiltered. It is Thursday here at Let's Stadium,
- 1:49Speaker 4: and I'm gonna see my T shirt available in the
- 1:53Speaker 4: pro shop. Yeah uh, it's Thursday here at Chilet's Stadium
- 1:58Speaker 4: and we are still talking about yesterday's joint practice with
- 2:02Speaker 4: the Commanders. It was, I think, a good day for
- 2:06Speaker 4: the Patriots.
- 2:07Speaker 7: What's this folder he's got going on right here? Yea?
- 2:10Speaker 6: I brought my further, I brought my father today to
- 2:12Speaker 6: old school Patriots little I'm allowed to have this, but
- 2:14Speaker 6: it has all of my practice notes. So I thought
- 2:16Speaker 6: it maybe if we choose to look back at some
- 2:17Speaker 6: of the practices. I can consult my notes and.
- 2:19Speaker 4: Tell you what I had, all right, yes, but we'll.
- 2:21Speaker 7: Be making fun of them. I brought my notebook for
- 2:23Speaker 7: the same reason.
- 2:24Speaker 4: We'll be talking about yesterday's joint. We'll be looking ahead
- 2:28Speaker 4: to tomorrow's preseason game as well as the Brady statue
- 2:34Speaker 4: one veiling at six pm live on Patriots dot Com.
- 2:37Speaker 4: There was a little snippet of a video that was
- 2:40Speaker 4: released on Patriots dot Com of the arrival of the statue.
- 2:44Speaker 4: Came in the dead of night a couple of nights ago.
- 2:47Speaker 4: I can't really see much, can't really see much, but
- 2:50Speaker 4: it's here. For the statue was here, so we're excited
- 2:57Speaker 4: about that. And Tom Brady will be here as well.
- 3:00Speaker 4: Alex is here, Duce is here, Evan's here, Paul's here,
- 3:03Speaker 4: I'm here, Matt's in the booth, and this is Patriot's
- 3:06Speaker 4: unfiltered Let's.
- 3:07Speaker 9: Go, Let's let's go, let's go.
- 3:09Speaker 4: All right, So I know, you know, we thought you
- 3:11Speaker 4: guys had to wrap up of the practice yesterday. So
- 3:15Speaker 4: if you haven't already seen that, that is out there,
- 3:18Speaker 4: that video. But you know, as a as a larger group,
- 3:22Speaker 4: our first opportunity to talk about what we saw yesterday,
- 3:26Speaker 4: and I my thing is, just don't make it look
- 3:30Speaker 4: like last year against the Eagles, and they job. The
- 3:33Speaker 4: job was a comp box checked, Yes, box checked.
- 3:36Speaker 9: Yeah, really fun competitive joint practice.
- 3:40Speaker 6: Thinking back to some of the ones that we've watched
- 3:41Speaker 6: over the years, and some of those they had flashes
- 3:45Speaker 6: here and there, but it didn't feel like a great practice.
- 3:48Speaker 6: It felt like, yeah, they were terrible, but that last
- 3:50Speaker 6: period they were pretty good.
- 3:51Speaker 9: Those were I remember.
- 3:51Speaker 6: That was kind of my takeaway from the Raiders this one.
- 3:54Speaker 6: It felt like, you know, there certainly wasn't all perfect. There's,
- 3:56Speaker 6: you know, some definite things to work on, but overall,
- 3:59Speaker 6: it felt like a competitive practice back and forth and
- 4:02Speaker 6: two teams that seemed, at least on the field pretty
- 4:05Speaker 6: evenly matched. And I think that's a great sign for
- 4:06Speaker 6: a team like the Patriots who were trying to bounce
- 4:09Speaker 6: back from back to back four win seasons.
- 4:11Speaker 7: Yep, well go ahead, Yeah.
- 4:15Speaker 5: I think now that I've slept on it a little bit,
- 4:18Speaker 5: like I came down from my cloud nine yesterday after
- 4:23Speaker 5: the practice because I was very excited about what I saw,
- 4:26Speaker 5: and now you put it in a little bit more perspective,
- 4:28Speaker 5: like we are talking about practice like this was not
- 4:32Speaker 5: you know, they I haven't won any games yet, but
- 4:34Speaker 5: I think what you saw was highly encouraging. I watched
- 4:38Speaker 5: more of the offense, just watch more of the defense,
- 4:41Speaker 5: but offensively up until the very very end when Drake
- 4:44Speaker 5: threw that pick, he was kind of dealing like he
- 4:47Speaker 5: really had his way with the Commander's defense. And I
- 4:50Speaker 5: thought the offensive line held its own and he had
- 4:52Speaker 5: some clean pockets and I was able to move the
- 4:54Speaker 5: ball down the field. I thought some of the Josh
- 4:57Speaker 5: McDaniels elements of the offense were clicking and work, and
- 5:00Speaker 5: you saw the scheme creating open receivers and things of
- 5:04Speaker 5: that nature as well. So I was highly encouraged by
- 5:08Speaker 5: what I saw. And I think the biggest thing is
- 5:11Speaker 5: the offensive line, the fact that they went out there and.
- 5:14Speaker 4: They were able to exit.
- 5:15Speaker 5: They were a competent yeah, And I thought Will Campbell
- 5:17Speaker 5: and Jared Wilson showed well. So overall, I have hard
- 5:21Speaker 5: not to be pretty optimistic about what you saw.
- 5:25Speaker 7: A lot of energy. That was the thing I kept
- 5:27Speaker 7: coming back to. I just felt like they practiced at
- 5:30Speaker 7: a different tempo than what we've seen the recent years.
- 5:32Speaker 7: In those joint practices, so I thought there was a
- 5:35Speaker 7: lot to be encouraged about. I agree with Mike and Evan.
- 5:38Speaker 7: You know, I'm not getting lost here, and I don't
- 5:41Speaker 7: think they quote won the practice, you know, I just
- 5:43Speaker 7: think they really competed well. I thought both sides sort
- 5:47Speaker 7: of had periods where they looked good, and both sides
- 5:49Speaker 7: had periods where the opponent made them look bad. And
- 5:53Speaker 7: I think that's what you're looking for. You're looking to
- 5:55Speaker 7: learn and get better now. It's it's going to be
- 6:00Speaker 7: important for them to do the same thing next week
- 6:03Speaker 7: when they go to Minnesota. Stack them, as they tell
- 6:05Speaker 7: us all the time, don't just say well we had
- 6:08Speaker 7: that good day on Wednesday, Yeah, and then you know,
- 6:12Speaker 7: the following week in Minnesota it took a step back.
- 6:14Speaker 7: I think you'll be up a little bit in weight
- 6:16Speaker 7: class with the Vikings. I think that's a more talented roster.
- 6:19Speaker 7: But I agree with Evan about the offense. I was
- 6:23Speaker 7: much more impressed with the offense than I was the defense.
- 6:26Speaker 7: I thought that there were periods of time where the
- 6:29Speaker 7: rhythm just kind of fell into place. It was Pop
- 6:32Speaker 7: Douglas quick getting ope for really quick. It's Kayshaun Boody
- 6:35Speaker 7: on the sideline. They get some back shoulder plays the
- 6:38Speaker 7: tight ends, both of them, Henry and Hooper making plays
- 6:40Speaker 7: down the seam. I just thought there was a lot
- 6:44Speaker 7: to be encouraged by With Drake May I wasn't as
- 6:50Speaker 7: happy with the protection as some others were, but it's
- 6:54Speaker 7: certainly I would think it's more than fair. The way
- 6:56Speaker 7: you guys described it, it was competent and last year, right,
- 7:01Speaker 7: and I don't see any way that you're going to
- 7:02Speaker 7: get back to last year. And you know, I don't
- 7:04Speaker 7: see any way that's going to be the case.
- 7:06Speaker 4: May stats as they were. There was even a perfect
- 7:09Speaker 4: pass to Henderson in the corner of the end zone
- 7:11Speaker 4: that was dropped that would have added to the touchdown.
- 7:14Speaker 5: Yeah, and Pop dropped an open crosser too early on
- 7:17Speaker 5: in the practice that was right on his hands also,
- 7:19Speaker 5: So I I gotta be honest, Like, I didn't really
- 7:22Speaker 5: feel like the Commander's defense made very many plays outside
- 7:25Speaker 5: of the Wagner pick.
- 7:26Speaker 7: Like I think the Patriots offense was good.
- 7:29Speaker 4: The Wagon pick was tipped at the line. Now that's
- 7:31Speaker 4: on the court, but Bobby Wagner, Yeah, Okay.
- 7:36Speaker 5: Tanner still caught the pick off the ricochet. But up
- 7:40Speaker 5: until that point, I kind of thought Drake made was
- 7:42Speaker 5: doing what he what he wanted out there with the
- 7:45Speaker 5: Commander's defense, and that was I haven't seen that in
- 7:49Speaker 5: a Patriots joint practice in quite some time.
- 7:53Speaker 7: In real real quick. Alex hit interested to see what
- 7:56Speaker 7: you thought of the the atmosphere too, But Fred, you
- 7:59Speaker 7: and I always kind of joke around about like how
- 8:01Speaker 7: many people here? That was kind of an old school crowd. Yes,
- 8:05Speaker 7: oh yeah, yes, yesterday there was you know, some people
- 8:08Speaker 7: estimated about thirteen thousand people. There were a lot of
- 8:10Speaker 7: people up on the ramps, and they were into the practice.
- 8:14Speaker 7: I took some time, Fred, to actually mix in with
- 8:18Speaker 7: the with the fonds and your people.
- 8:21Speaker 4: You needed to get something.
- 8:22Speaker 7: No. I watched. I watched one of the periods I had.
- 8:25Speaker 7: I had a friend from out of town here. It was.
- 8:28Speaker 7: It was frustrating because they came by with big plates
- 8:30Speaker 7: and I was like, oh, that looks. But I watched
- 8:33Speaker 7: one of the periods in the red zone from down
- 8:36Speaker 7: and you could feel like listening to conversations A couple
- 8:39Speaker 7: of younger guys are behind me, like talking about digs
- 8:42Speaker 7: and booty and how good they've been and just there
- 8:45Speaker 7: just seemed to be an overall enthusiasm and excitement that
- 8:48Speaker 7: I haven't really heard in the last couple of years.
- 8:50Speaker 3: Absolutely, they're just even getting here.
- 8:52Speaker 10: I got here probably twenty minutes later than I wanted to,
- 8:55Speaker 10: even before they opened gates.
- 8:57Speaker 7: Because you were digs.
- 8:58Speaker 4: Because he was late to No, I was not.
- 9:00Speaker 10: I'd probably be riding in a cooler whip if I
- 9:03Speaker 10: was with him, just me and my raft.
- 9:07Speaker 11: I don't know.
- 9:07Speaker 3: I think it might be back on. I don't know,
- 9:08Speaker 3: there's there. I don't know, just how can you keep up?
- 9:13Speaker 10: But it felt like a game day driving in here yesterday,
- 9:16Speaker 10: and just like you said, seeing the people on the rafters,
- 9:19Speaker 10: I certainly haven't seen a training camp that busy since
- 9:21Speaker 10: I started working here, maybe back to the tom days
- 9:25Speaker 10: when I was covering the team externally. But just like
- 9:28Speaker 10: there was an infectious energy here yesterday on and off
- 9:31Speaker 10: the field, like the players were bringing it, and then
- 9:33Speaker 10: the fans, like there's a tangible excitement for better for
- 9:38Speaker 10: worse with this team this year, and then when they
- 9:40Speaker 10: perform like they did, it's hard.
- 9:42Speaker 3: Like you said, Evan, you came down. I don't think
- 9:44Speaker 3: I've come down yet.
- 9:45Speaker 10: Like I'm more encouraged by what I've seen all camp,
- 9:48Speaker 10: especially yesterday, than I ever have been working here, especially
- 9:52Speaker 10: on the offensive side, And like Booty's catch with Latimore
- 9:56Speaker 10: in coverage yesterday was like the moment where I was like, Okay,
- 10:00Speaker 10: like these guys. I think Mac Collins had a really
- 10:02Speaker 10: good quote in one of his availabilities where this is
- 10:05Speaker 10: the first receiver group he's ever been in where everyone's
- 10:08Speaker 10: really really competing. There's not like a couple guys, and
- 10:12Speaker 10: then there's the lower tiers, like everyone is fighting for
- 10:15Speaker 10: a job, and like.
- 10:16Speaker 4: You can take that a couple different ways, but I yes,
- 10:19Speaker 4: I've heard that choosing to.
- 10:20Speaker 10: Take it in the way that like you have digs
- 10:23Speaker 10: and everyone else is really trying to cement a spot
- 10:27Speaker 10: on this team. I think coming into camp, don't you
- 10:30Speaker 10: didn't know where things were gonna land with Pop Douglas
- 10:33Speaker 10: and how he was gonna, I don't know, be viewed
- 10:36Speaker 10: at by the coaching staff. I think he's an absolute
- 10:39Speaker 10: lock after the performance I've seen. I think Booty's had
- 10:42Speaker 10: a good camp. Baker has kind of come out of nowhere.
- 10:45Speaker 10: For me, like there's just and then obviously you have digs,
- 10:48Speaker 10: you have the tight ends that are just gonna be
- 10:51Speaker 10: standards in this offense, and it's just so much more
- 10:54Speaker 10: exciting than at this point.
- 10:55Speaker 4: Last year, you know, in the red zone. I heard
- 10:59Speaker 4: this from so Bundy. I haven't verified it that Austin
- 11:02Speaker 4: Hooper's stats last year were better than Travis Kelcey's in
- 11:07Speaker 4: the red zone.
- 11:09Speaker 7: I believe what do you get for that? Just out
- 11:11Speaker 7: of curiosity, I'd be interested to the worst year of
- 11:15Speaker 7: his career as.
- 11:19Speaker 5: A sneaky good year though, as.
- 11:21Speaker 7: I think he's rock solid as a second.
- 11:24Speaker 10: Our tight ends are just always the least of my problems.
- 11:27Speaker 10: Drake's comfort with both of those guys, and Hooper hasn't
- 11:30Speaker 10: even been practicing this whole time, he's been dealing with
- 11:32Speaker 10: an injury. He came in and instantly was like one
- 11:35Speaker 10: of Drake's go tos.
- 11:36Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I think put it well, like about some
- 11:39Speaker 5: of the last couple of years at the joint practices
- 11:41Speaker 5: that we've been at, like the Eagles One aside Eagles
- 11:43Speaker 5: One was it was its.
- 11:44Speaker 4: Own thing, like that was just the bottom of the bottom.
- 11:48Speaker 7: Thank you for saying it for me.
- 11:50Speaker 5: Yeah, the the last couple of years, like when we
- 11:53Speaker 5: were in Green Bay, it was like that DeVante Parker
- 11:55Speaker 5: catch like kinda made you feel better about the day.
- 11:58Speaker 5: But if we sort of took a step back, you
- 12:01Speaker 5: realized that, like the Packers kind of controlled practice. Yeah,
- 12:04Speaker 5: the Raiders in Las Vegas the same thing. DeVante Adams
- 12:07Speaker 5: just torching the Patriots defense and yeah, they had like
- 12:10Speaker 5: one really good drive towards the end of the practice.
- 12:13Speaker 5: But like overall the Raiders, this practice was far more even,
- 12:18Speaker 5: where like we didn't have to like pick, like cherry
- 12:20Speaker 5: picked those little moments.
- 12:22Speaker 3: It was consolation prizes that we were looking for.
- 12:25Speaker 7: We were cherry picking.
- 12:26Speaker 5: We were saying, like, oh, well they had the Parker
- 12:28Speaker 5: caught the touchdown at the end, so we won practice.
- 12:31Speaker 5: You know, this was like much more of something that
- 12:34Speaker 5: was from start to finish. They they were able to
- 12:36Speaker 5: execute their offense, which was highly encouraging.
- 12:40Speaker 4: We have to mention the fight, the big fight.
- 12:43Speaker 3: To the memes are unbelievable.
- 12:45Speaker 4: That Mike Rabel found himself in the middle of. But
- 12:50Speaker 4: the description that I heard that got me more jazz
- 12:56Speaker 4: than Rabel getting in there and getting bloodied was Will
- 12:58Speaker 4: Campbell's involvement.
- 13:00Speaker 7: You know, that's not the direction I thought that was
- 13:02Speaker 7: so this is.
- 13:04Speaker 4: The and you guys can correct me if you heard
- 13:06Speaker 4: something different. But my description that I heard was it
- 13:10Speaker 4: started with a Trevion Henderson.
- 13:13Speaker 12: Let's pick up or the best part of the whole thing,
- 13:15Speaker 12: That's what I was. So, yeah, I don't know who.
- 13:21Speaker 12: I didn't hear who was on but anyway, whoever whoever
- 13:25Speaker 12: he picked up, he drove him to the ground and
- 13:27Speaker 12: they were tussling in the ground and that started a fight.
- 13:30Speaker 12: Will Campbell saw that he was the first one.
- 13:33Speaker 9: In that's I was ready to die.
- 13:40Speaker 4: And he hit the guy who was on top of
- 13:42Speaker 4: Henderson and then all hell broke clues. But I love
- 13:45Speaker 4: Will Campbell's It's in his blood. It really is, like
- 13:49Speaker 4: his instinct is get in there. Don't even think about it.
- 13:53Speaker 10: I heard, and can't no way to confirm this because
- 13:56Speaker 10: unless you're in the I heard that, Like getting cut
- 13:59Speaker 10: was just like a straight from Campbell.
- 14:06Speaker 9: I mean, what will happen?
- 14:07Speaker 5: But my biggest takeaway from the whole thing was Travon Henderson,
- 14:11Speaker 5: Like Travon Henderson blocked the guy so well physically that
- 14:14Speaker 5: he got mad that he blocked him so well, and
- 14:18Speaker 5: it started a whole.
- 14:21Speaker 4: Drove him to the ground, I can't understand you getting.
- 14:27Speaker 7: And I think the first fight happened for the opposite reason.
- 14:30Speaker 7: I think Stevenson got knocked over and he took exception,
- 14:34Speaker 7: and I agree with Stevenson. We're not drilling guys to
- 14:38Speaker 7: the ground in these practices, and I think he got mad.
- 14:41Speaker 7: The next play I think was one of the one
- 14:44Speaker 7: of the fights and the blitz pick up. That's his reputation. Henderson,
- 14:49Speaker 7: his running backs coaches name escapes me right now, said
- 14:52Speaker 7: that he's not just the best in blitz pick up.
- 14:55Speaker 7: He's not the best running back pass blocker. He's the
- 14:58Speaker 7: best pass protector in the draft. That's what he said.
- 15:01Speaker 7: In the country any position, he said, he's the best
- 15:04Speaker 7: blocker in the draft. And that's what you saw. It
- 15:07Speaker 7: was a safety. I think his name is Kwan Martin.
- 15:12Speaker 7: So that because I was looking, I had I had
- 15:15Speaker 7: the boys, you know, back behind the scenes. There's a
- 15:18Speaker 7: lot of people involved behind the scenes here, so I
- 15:21Speaker 7: had them to see if they could. We didn't have
- 15:23Speaker 7: a good look at it, but you can see Number
- 15:26Speaker 7: twenty is creeping to the line of scrimmage and he
- 15:28Speaker 7: comes at the snap. He's coming off the edge and
- 15:31Speaker 7: you see Henderson getting in position to hit him. I
- 15:33Speaker 7: don't see twenty four anywhere, so I know a lot
- 15:37Speaker 7: of people had assigned this because my immediate reaction with
- 15:40Speaker 7: von Miller was how could he possibly care enough at
- 15:44Speaker 7: a joint fact, at this stage of his career to
- 15:46Speaker 7: get a fight. That was my initial reaction. And I
- 15:49Speaker 7: didn't see him anywhere. The only time I saw him
- 15:52Speaker 7: was after the whole thing was over. He went over
- 15:54Speaker 7: to Rable and sort of gave him a pat in
- 15:57Speaker 7: the back. I don't know as if to say, maybe
- 15:59Speaker 7: like if sorry a cut, maybe Miller was involved in
- 16:02Speaker 7: him getting cut, or if he was like, you know,
- 16:04Speaker 7: this is nonsense. This shouldn't be happening. Sorry, you know,
- 16:07Speaker 7: sorry for our pardon it or whatever. I have no idea,
- 16:09Speaker 7: but I did see him go to Vrabel once, you know,
- 16:13Speaker 7: the sides had sort of separated. But I think I'm
- 16:15Speaker 7: not This is not a guarantee, but from what little
- 16:18Speaker 7: video I saw, twenty was the one who looked to
- 16:20Speaker 7: be engaged with Henderson, and Henderson buried him, and I
- 16:24Speaker 7: think that's what started it.
- 16:25Speaker 4: Yeah, nice, and then Campbell, that's.
- 16:27Speaker 7: What that's if you heard the way the Ohio States
- 16:31Speaker 7: coach talked about it. You would not be surprised, was
- 16:33Speaker 7: it Sean McVay.
- 16:35Speaker 5: There was an NFL coach that said he's the best
- 16:37Speaker 5: blitz pick up pass protector he's ever seen coming out
- 16:41Speaker 5: of college. I forget which NFL.
- 16:43Speaker 7: Let's go, Let's go, like Drake's never gonna get touched.
- 16:46Speaker 5: But like I know, it's like a disaminutia thing of
- 16:50Speaker 5: the game.
- 16:50Speaker 7: But like all Lachlan, I wanted to give him credit.
- 16:53Speaker 5: Like he won't play on third down if he can't
- 16:55Speaker 5: do it. So like if you can't, if he can't
- 16:58Speaker 5: pick up blitzers and he can't as protect, he's not
- 17:01Speaker 5: going to be on the field. So the fact that
- 17:03Speaker 5: he can do that is going to allow them to
- 17:05Speaker 5: actually play him as much as we all want to see.
- 17:07Speaker 4: Him play, and right from the get go, because like
- 17:10Speaker 4: Kevin Falk was good at it and James White got
- 17:12Speaker 4: really but they developed it. That's why he's.
- 17:16Speaker 7: Goods had red shirt.
- 17:18Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, they all sat because of pass protection, not
- 17:21Speaker 5: because they weren't quick and not because they couldn't get open,
- 17:24Speaker 5: And it was because of pass protection. So if Traveon
- 17:27Speaker 5: Henderson can come in right away as a rookie and
- 17:29Speaker 5: pass protect as good as he did in college, where
- 17:32Speaker 5: there's like literally highlight reels of his college pass blocking, like.
- 17:36Speaker 9: There is a weapon.
- 17:37Speaker 7: Y go to YouTube and you can get some enjoyment
- 17:39Speaker 7: out of that. He buries guys. Yeah, then he's he's.
- 17:43Speaker 4: Going to get a nice little present from Drake May
- 17:45Speaker 4: around Christmas time.
- 17:46Speaker 5: I can tell you that he's a player, man. I
- 17:48Speaker 5: mean he's like, even though you though he dropped the
- 17:50Speaker 5: wheel route, like there's there, these linebackers are in torture
- 17:54Speaker 5: chambers trying to cover.
- 17:55Speaker 7: I haven't seen anybody come close to covering him effectively yet.
- 18:00Speaker 9: It's just darts.
- 18:00Speaker 6: I mean, like I said a ten hundred times, he floats,
- 18:02Speaker 6: and the catches are great and the downfield stuff. But
- 18:05Speaker 6: I still think he's got You get a scene on
- 18:08Speaker 6: him and he's going to be gone. I mean, it's
- 18:09Speaker 6: just you see the acceleration with it.
- 18:11Speaker 4: It's and so I know that all coaches, including Rabel,
- 18:15Speaker 4: they don't want to come out publicly and say, yeah,
- 18:17Speaker 4: I'm glad we got into a fight and I told
- 18:19Speaker 4: my guys to fight and all this stuff. But even
- 18:22Speaker 4: what Drake said, We're not going to back down to anybody,
- 18:25Speaker 4: And I'm sure today or whenever they're talking about it,
- 18:29Speaker 4: they're all, yeah, you.
- 18:31Speaker 6: Know, yeah, well you know, I mean Pop Douglas talking
- 18:33Speaker 6: about it yesterday, you know, laughing about Rabel saying you
- 18:36Speaker 6: should have seen the other guy, Like to me, as
- 18:38Speaker 6: a player, you see your coach, and you already knew
- 18:40Speaker 6: Rabel's a tough guy who's played in the NFL.
- 18:42Speaker 9: But I think this just helps bring the team together
- 18:45Speaker 9: even more.
- 18:45Speaker 6: And I was going back to the Will Campbell he
- 18:48Speaker 6: the Will Campbell high school videos that we talked about
- 18:50Speaker 6: last week, Fred, which is that snarley attitude that Will
- 18:53Speaker 6: Campbell plays with, and it's all the talk we talked
- 18:55Speaker 6: about his you know, physical measurements and all that and
- 18:57Speaker 6: his experience. But I think that leadership element and that
- 19:00Speaker 6: a toughness from that left tackle positions.
- 19:02Speaker 9: Is a is a nice part of the package with
- 19:04Speaker 9: Will cam.
- 19:04Speaker 5: You gotta have that as an offensive lineman, like in
- 19:06Speaker 5: all seriousness, like the finishing and that attitude, like you
- 19:10Speaker 5: have to have that that that's like gotta be ingrained
- 19:14Speaker 5: in you to be like truly elite like all like
- 19:16Speaker 5: the really great lineman in the league.
- 19:18Speaker 4: I mean, that's the way Mankins was he was so
- 19:21Speaker 4: soft spoken off the field, but in the in the
- 19:23Speaker 4: on the field, he just.
- 19:24Speaker 9: Right in the nuts.
- 19:25Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 19:25Speaker 6: You can see it though with Mankins, like you just
- 19:26Speaker 6: look at Mankins like that's a tough guy. But I would, like,
- 19:28Speaker 6: you know, I put out Chered Wilson, who it doesn't
- 19:30Speaker 6: really seem like that guy.
- 19:31Speaker 9: I mean, I'm not saying this is the negative thing
- 19:33Speaker 9: with him.
- 19:33Speaker 6: He just he comes off as a really athletic, cerebral guy,
- 19:36Speaker 6: more like Joe Toney, who excellent you know, probably maybe
- 19:39Speaker 6: Hall of Fame left guard.
- 19:41Speaker 9: Not quite the Maller like edge that you see.
- 19:44Speaker 6: With guys like you know, like Logan Mankins embodied so perfectly,
- 19:47Speaker 6: but a lot of ways to do it.
- 19:48Speaker 10: You're right, it's like a funny like listening to Jared
- 19:51Speaker 10: Wilson and I also get this listening to Travion It's
- 19:55Speaker 10: like they're both such kind, nice, soft spoken guys really
- 19:59Speaker 10: are too intelligent and good heads on their shoulders, and
- 20:02Speaker 10: then especially so violent like on the field and physical.
- 20:07Speaker 3: It's really funny the juxtaposition.
- 20:10Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 20:11Speaker 4: So that's uh, yeah, that's that stuff.
- 20:14Speaker 5: We're back talk.
- 20:17Speaker 9: I just want to talk a little bit about the
- 20:19Speaker 9: defense because I felt a little on an island yesterday.
- 20:21Speaker 5: Well, no, it was really funny because I think this
- 20:23Speaker 5: is the only one tired.
- 20:26Speaker 9: Well it was me, Matt Doloff and and and so.
- 20:32Speaker 7: Do the fun stuff.
- 20:34Speaker 9: But it was good.
- 20:34Speaker 6: It was good for me because you know, like like
- 20:36Speaker 6: I see what I see, and I you know, confident
- 20:38Speaker 6: in what I see. But it's always nice to just
- 20:40Speaker 6: you know, compare it a little bit to to what
- 20:42Speaker 6: you already saw as well.
- 20:42Speaker 9: And I felt like we had you know, similar observations
- 20:45Speaker 9: and you know, just to highlight exact ERTs. That's an area.
- 20:50Speaker 7: Of question for me.
- 20:52Speaker 9: How are we going to be covering tight ends this year?
- 20:54Speaker 6: You know, it's been we spent a lot of time
- 20:56Speaker 6: talking about Duggers and Peppers, and I think the thing
- 20:58Speaker 6: with both of them is, you know, what's great and
- 21:00Speaker 6: they're playing downhill and seaball get ball, but you know,
- 21:02Speaker 6: really pure coverage snaps against the linebacker we know who's
- 21:06Speaker 6: coming here week one, that's a part of the defense
- 21:09Speaker 6: right now that have a little bit of question about
- 21:11Speaker 6: how are they going to handle covering the really elite
- 21:13Speaker 6: tight ends that they're going to face. And you know,
- 21:16Speaker 6: another thing that I think Mike highlighted, well that that
- 21:18Speaker 6: maybe I downplayed. I did mention it, but you know,
- 21:20Speaker 6: just they lost the edge a couple of times, and
- 21:22Speaker 6: that's something that there was at least one run with
- 21:25Speaker 6: I think was Robinson that you were just like, oh,
- 21:26Speaker 6: he gone.
- 21:27Speaker 9: So those are a couple of things to clean up.
- 21:29Speaker 9: But it did confirm the rest for me of you.
- 21:32Speaker 6: Know, because I'm looking at the stats and I'm like,
- 21:33Speaker 6: Jane Daniels didn't throw a touchdown yesterday. He didn't throw
- 21:35Speaker 6: a touchdown on eleven on eleven, you know, so even
- 21:38Speaker 6: if you just look at that simple thing, like that's
- 21:40Speaker 6: a nice little thing for the defense to come out
- 21:42Speaker 6: of that day. There were a couple couple of passes
- 21:44Speaker 6: where they were headed for the end zone but disrupted
- 21:46Speaker 6: the timing good tight coverage. So there was definitely some
- 21:50Speaker 6: some struggles early on. But I think we both saw
- 21:52Speaker 6: it in a similar fashion that the defense improved as
- 21:54Speaker 6: the day went on, and.
- 21:55Speaker 9: They gave Jaydan Daniels some problems, especially through the air.
- 21:58Speaker 4: And they didn't throw a touchdown with our best well,
- 22:00Speaker 4: Davis was out there right, no.
- 22:03Speaker 7: Two corners were out but Lawren too, that's a that's
- 22:07Speaker 7: a watchful. I thought the thing I was impressed with
- 22:11Speaker 7: was the pass rush. I thought that Barmore in particular,
- 22:14Speaker 7: but Harold andry To, I thought they had, you know,
- 22:17Speaker 7: a pretty constant presence. I did not see the struggles
- 22:20Speaker 7: for Jadon Daniels. I thought Jaden and Daniels was the
- 22:21Speaker 7: best player in the field yesterday, both teams. But the
- 22:26Speaker 7: thing I was most encouraged by was I thought consistently
- 22:30Speaker 7: they were getting penetration and getting into the backfield, and
- 22:34Speaker 7: we didn't see that a lot last year. I was
- 22:35Speaker 7: number one thing I came away in coverage.
- 22:37Speaker 9: I'm surprised by this, Paul. Usually I see eyed eye
- 22:40Speaker 9: with you on just about everything. I did not see it.
- 22:42Speaker 7: And I thought he was just so under control. I
- 22:44Speaker 7: was a little impressed with him. I thought he was
- 22:45Speaker 7: more of just kind of like an athlete who plays.
- 22:48Speaker 7: And now I'm looking at it and it's like he's
- 22:49Speaker 7: a quarterback.
- 22:50Speaker 4: He was thirty years old.
- 22:52Speaker 7: He's one year older than Drake. He is he's almost well,
- 22:56Speaker 7: he's one year older than let's get it right.
- 23:03Speaker 9: There was a way to know, uh, thirty years old.
- 23:06Speaker 4: I know he's not thirty kid.
- 23:07Speaker 7: I looked at this, did I get this wrong. Well,
- 23:10Speaker 7: I'm pretty sure I looked at this on the face
- 23:12Speaker 7: he might it might be a year and eight months,
- 23:14Speaker 7: but like he's like, he's okay, so a year and
- 23:17Speaker 7: a half, Like I mean, is that really I mean
- 23:20Speaker 7: rounding up?
- 23:21Speaker 4: But he had the college experience.
- 23:23Speaker 7: The college experience absolutely, yeah, college for six years and
- 23:27Speaker 7: Drake was only in for three, right, that's absolutely true.
- 23:30Speaker 5: He is his release and his accuracy or off the
- 23:33Speaker 5: charts good. Like he's got one of the quickest releases
- 23:36Speaker 5: of any quarterback. Just and he he did this at
- 23:39Speaker 5: his bro day, Like you just stand on a spot
- 23:42Speaker 5: and he can just he can just humt it from
- 23:44Speaker 5: any like just like normal pocket quarterback stuff. Like he's
- 23:48Speaker 5: definitely not just a runner like he's he's a complete player.
- 23:52Speaker 5: And I think it's his poise that stands out the
- 23:54Speaker 5: most to me, Like he doesn't really make any wrong
- 23:57Speaker 5: reads or bad decisions. And he's also calmbat there.
- 24:00Speaker 4: That's what Paul said. He's under control.
- 24:02Speaker 7: Yeah, he was really under control. Even the times where
- 24:06Speaker 7: like Barbo would flesh him and he would like start rolling,
- 24:09Speaker 7: he'd be just like because he knows he can. Yeah yeah, yeah,
- 24:13Speaker 7: And he did a couple of times were definitely there
- 24:18Speaker 7: are you know that's got a Simon McLaurin because Deepo
- 24:22Speaker 7: ain't good enough by himself.
- 24:23Speaker 5: I read some of their their beat just to get
- 24:26Speaker 5: the perspective of what they saw at the practice, and uh,
- 24:29Speaker 5: you know, there are some tweets that are going around
- 24:31Speaker 5: that you know, are contradictory to what some of the
- 24:35Speaker 5: Patriots people are saying. Obviously, you know, you look at
- 24:37Speaker 5: it through your own team's lens, but all of them
- 24:40Speaker 5: across the board were saying, you know, Terry McLaurin, is
- 24:44Speaker 5: the leverage that he has is only going up in
- 24:47Speaker 5: his favor because it's this is what's happening in their
- 24:50Speaker 5: own practices too, is that the receivers can't get open.
- 24:53Speaker 5: And they came here to for the joint practice and
- 24:55Speaker 5: they couldn't get open against our guys and Carlon Davis
- 24:58Speaker 5: and Christian Zalez aren't even out there and they can't
- 25:02Speaker 5: get open. So everybody's like number one takeaway from Washington
- 25:07Speaker 5: was they need to get Terry McLaurin back in the fold.
- 25:11Speaker 5: Like there's just nothing more money, there's no like.
- 25:14Speaker 4: Real, Yeah, they will be taking a step backwards this
- 25:17Speaker 4: year but getting back because they're not that good betting.
- 25:20Speaker 4: Getting back to Christian Barmore, I was one player. I
- 25:25Speaker 4: was watching some of the one on ones that he
- 25:27Speaker 4: was doing, and he was a man among boys times.
- 25:30Speaker 9: Yeah for sure.
- 25:31Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 25:31Speaker 6: I mean for all the attention, you know, excitement about
- 25:33Speaker 6: bringing Milt Williams in, I think we forgot about how
- 25:35Speaker 6: good Christian Barmore could be fully recovered from the blood coots.
- 25:39Speaker 6: And I think they took steps early in camp to
- 25:41Speaker 6: manage that a little bit. You could tell that that
- 25:43Speaker 6: they were still wary of perhaps a relapse.
- 25:45Speaker 9: With that kind of thing.
- 25:46Speaker 6: But right now having him go full bore in those
- 25:48Speaker 6: joint practices, I mean you could just see it. He's
- 25:51Speaker 6: he's a nightmare and night I just echo a Paul
- 25:53Speaker 6: said about Harold Landry guy questions about Tennessee let him go.
- 25:56Speaker 9: I mean, he had nine sacks last year. You knew
- 25:58Speaker 9: he was a productive guy. Is he on the downturn?
- 26:00Speaker 6: But he looks in shape, He's out there early, he
- 26:03Speaker 6: seems like he's really focused.
- 26:04Speaker 4: And he had one rep. I don't know who he
- 26:06Speaker 4: was going up against, but it wasn't all his strength.
- 26:11Speaker 4: The way he used his hands, it was like she
- 26:14Speaker 4: said Chuck Norris, Like not Chuck Norris, who's the other
- 26:17Speaker 4: guy that Chuck Norris, Bruce or whatever. But it was
- 26:24Speaker 4: Barbara hadn't even taken a step yet and he had
- 26:26Speaker 4: already rid himself of the guy, and he had a
- 26:29Speaker 4: clear path to, you know, up the middle. It was
- 26:32Speaker 4: just the handwork was looks like it's improved.
- 26:35Speaker 5: And I wouldn't This isn't like meant to be an
- 26:37Speaker 5: insult towards Melton Williams. But like Christian Barmore at his
- 26:40Speaker 5: peak is a better player than Milton Williams. Like Christian
- 26:43Speaker 5: Barber is a more complete three down player two years
- 26:46Speaker 5: ago than Melon Williams has been in Philly. So like
- 26:49Speaker 5: I agree with.
- 26:50Speaker 7: Duce, like I bio draft picked.
- 26:52Speaker 5: Yeah, I kind of feel like Barmore is because of
- 26:54Speaker 5: the blood clots and you know, there's always that weariness
- 26:58Speaker 5: of like can you trust it? Like he's gonna be
- 27:00Speaker 5: back and he's gonna stay healthy and all that kind
- 27:02Speaker 5: of stuff. But he's he's probably a more of like
- 27:06Speaker 5: a we gotta circle this guy in some respects in
- 27:09Speaker 5: Millan Williams, because he makes plays against the run and
- 27:11Speaker 5: the past and he's effective in both ways. So he's
- 27:15Speaker 5: had a great camp. I think every single time he's
- 27:17Speaker 5: out there, he's noticeable, even though it hasn't been you know,
- 27:20Speaker 5: full go for him.
- 27:21Speaker 10: Yeah, I feel like he's in good shape this year.
- 27:23Speaker 10: And this is just strictly the eye test. I haven't seen,
- 27:27Speaker 10: but he just looks healthier.
- 27:30Speaker 5: Yeah, he's gone to three h five I think he
- 27:32Speaker 5: said from Mike three twenty, so he's lost some weight.
- 27:34Speaker 3: And to Williams, will probably just only helped.
- 27:37Speaker 7: So yeah, let's.
- 27:38Speaker 4: Go right for.
- 27:44Speaker 9: We're fortunate.
- 27:45Speaker 5: Did you have something snarky to say?
- 27:47Speaker 7: You can say, no, I'm gonna wait next week. We've
- 27:49Speaker 7: done enough the coach breaking up a fight at practices.
- 27:52Speaker 7: I'll wait till next week.
- 27:56Speaker 4: Wet blanket, wet blanket.
- 27:58Speaker 13: Oh.
- 27:58Speaker 7: I don't think fights aren't good.
- 28:00Speaker 4: I know, but it's the symbolism. It's the symbolism of
- 28:04Speaker 4: the instinct of jumping in there up.
- 28:09Speaker 3: That's what the Carolina was here a couple of years ago.
- 28:12Speaker 7: That was a bigger fight. That was a bigger fight.
- 28:17Speaker 4: Jeer in the middle of all of them, there was
- 28:21Speaker 4: one that that went into the state.
- 28:25Speaker 5: That's what I'm the nicest guy in They had Matthew
- 28:29Speaker 5: Slater's back in a hurry in those Carolina practices.
- 28:32Speaker 3: That was a crazy practice, all right?
- 28:35Speaker 4: Eight five five Pats five hundred is the hotline podcast
- 28:38Speaker 4: at Patriots dot com. Is the email address? Uh So,
- 28:42Speaker 4: we're getting a lot of emails, a lot of calls,
- 28:45Speaker 4: So let's start emptying out these phone lines so other
- 28:48Speaker 4: people can call. We'll start with as we seems to
- 28:52Speaker 4: be a thing now, Nate and Connecticut. What's up, Nate?
- 28:57Speaker 7: Good?
- 28:58Speaker 14: Good question for you guys, is uh who has been
- 29:03Speaker 14: the like the vocal leader or like the guy who
- 29:06Speaker 14: like uh so, like cheers people at that. You know,
- 29:09Speaker 14: if a quarterback throws a pick or filling up a touchdown,
- 29:13Speaker 14: who's been that guy that picks them up when they're down,
- 29:16Speaker 14: or who's been the leader that you know controls the
- 29:19Speaker 14: pace of the practice or something like that.
- 29:22Speaker 4: Yeah, good question? Is it Peppers?
- 29:25Speaker 7: On defense?
- 29:25Speaker 4: Would you say?
- 29:26Speaker 6: Maybe he's definitely one of the he's the rara guy
- 29:29Speaker 6: in the usually in the huddles. But I don't know,
- 29:32Speaker 6: I don't know why on offense, I would kind of look.
- 29:34Speaker 9: To Drake to be that guy. I hope it's Drake.
- 29:36Speaker 9: That's what it needs to be he.
- 29:37Speaker 6: Wants him to be that guy, you know, yeah, but
- 29:39Speaker 6: I don't see, uh, I haven't really clocked anything that's oh,
- 29:43Speaker 6: you know, Morgan Moses has taken the offense under his
- 29:45Speaker 6: wing after that bad series. I haven't noticed things like
- 29:48Speaker 6: that with with any of those guys. And I mean,
- 29:49Speaker 6: to be honest, he mention a couple of examples of like, oh,
- 29:52Speaker 6: they threw a couple of interceptions. I mean, there haven't
- 29:54Speaker 6: really been a lot of downtime and then we go
- 29:57Speaker 6: right back into a drill. Really the downtime for the
- 29:59Speaker 6: offense it has been the end of the last three
- 30:01Speaker 6: competitive practices, so there's not really a chance to see
- 30:04Speaker 6: them try to bounce back. Maybe those things are happening
- 30:07Speaker 6: behind the scenes.
- 30:07Speaker 5: I don't really feel like that's an offense thing in general,
- 30:10Speaker 5: like quarterback outside the quarterback obviously, but like maybe there's
- 30:14Speaker 5: an offensive lineman that's a veteran, like a David Andrews type,
- 30:17Speaker 5: that's like vocal, but defense is the one that like,
- 30:21Speaker 5: you know, Jabil Peppers comes in and gets everybody fired
- 30:24Speaker 5: up and like, you know, ready to play. I don't
- 30:26Speaker 5: really know if that's so much like you don't see
- 30:29Speaker 5: that as often as it's a quarterback like Brady going
- 30:32Speaker 5: up and down the sideline barking at guys.
- 30:34Speaker 4: Right, that's true. Sometimes receivers and yeah, because they want
- 30:39Speaker 4: the ball. They're more concerned with what I'm doing rather
- 30:42Speaker 4: than the team.
- 30:43Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 30:44Speaker 4: I mean I could see Bourne doing it, but he's
- 30:46Speaker 4: not out there right now.
- 30:47Speaker 13: You know.
- 30:47Speaker 7: There you go, Freddy, you to be on.
- 30:49Speaker 4: Board, Yeah, there you go. No, everybody, that's that's the head.
- 30:53Speaker 7: Bloody after jumping into scrum, wrong, wrong thing, me, Rambo,
- 31:01Speaker 7: how will you live? John?
- 31:02Speaker 4: First? Blood watching what's up? Patty?
- 31:10Speaker 7: Hey?
- 31:10Speaker 8: Patty?
- 31:12Speaker 1: First Nate and now me Travis and West Virginia must
- 31:15Speaker 1: be throwing a conniption fit right now. First, with the
- 31:19Speaker 1: t I A. N and myself met up yesterday and
- 31:22Speaker 1: we took him to practice and even before the scrum
- 31:25Speaker 1: that the place was electric, man, awesome break time. I
- 31:29Speaker 1: had a question about the dispenses back or not back
- 31:33Speaker 1: to the cornerback depth. I know, like we've been expressing
- 31:37Speaker 1: a little bit of concern on some of the depth
- 31:38Speaker 1: on this scheme. To know that the position at cornerbacks
- 31:41Speaker 1: came up as as seeing a concern. But with the
- 31:44Speaker 1: quote unquote emergence of DJA Games and Alex Houston, Do
- 31:47Speaker 1: you guys feel a little bit better about the depth
- 31:49Speaker 1: of that position.
- 31:51Speaker 13: Not really.
- 31:52Speaker 7: I feel pretty good about Alex Austen. Yeah, I feel
- 31:54Speaker 7: better about it. I think that's a legitimate option, you know.
- 31:57Speaker 7: I think he's played really well most of the the
- 32:00Speaker 7: camp practices and I thought he was excellent and that
- 32:02Speaker 7: red that last two minute drill to hurry up at
- 32:05Speaker 7: the end of the practice. He made two of the
- 32:08Speaker 7: four plays to keep.
- 32:10Speaker 4: I think he's on this team, but I think he's good.
- 32:13Speaker 4: What do you think the gap is between Gonzo and
- 32:18Speaker 4: Carlton Davis and the rest of the room.
- 32:20Speaker 9: It's a good they say.
- 32:21Speaker 6: It's a nice little drop between Austin and I mean,
- 32:24Speaker 6: I don't want to crap on him though, I mean,
- 32:25Speaker 6: Paul said he's had a really good camp.
- 32:26Speaker 9: He looks good.
- 32:27Speaker 6: I would say after that, though, I don't. I don't
- 32:28Speaker 6: quite have that confidence into DJ James yet. He's a
- 32:31Speaker 6: little smaller guy. I mean he did. He did have
- 32:33Speaker 6: a nice play yesterday that I noticed, but I mean
- 32:36Speaker 6: that's look, that's gonna be your fifth cornerback.
- 32:39Speaker 9: So nobody's got no five guys that you feel Marcus Jones.
- 32:43Speaker 5: Marcus Jones in the slot, but Davis Gonzo and Alex Austin,
- 32:48Speaker 5: what do you do side?
- 32:50Speaker 7: Yeah, I don't know.
- 32:52Speaker 5: They're gonna play a ton of man coverage and like
- 32:54Speaker 5: if he's in the slot and he's covering like Pop
- 32:56Speaker 5: Douglas types and you know those types of receivers every week, Hey,
- 33:00Speaker 5: with the other guys on the outside, Like I I mean,
- 33:03Speaker 5: I think you do a lot worse. Like I'm not
- 33:04Speaker 5: saying that he's, you know, the best nickel in the league,
- 33:07Speaker 5: but I mean, I don't know. Like I thought yesterday,
- 33:10Speaker 5: like Bob Douglas made Sandra Still look like he wasn't
- 33:13Speaker 5: very good either. So like, I think it's a tough
- 33:15Speaker 5: position to play, Like you have your inside, you have
- 33:19Speaker 5: two way go all the time. The guy can it
- 33:22Speaker 5: really has a ton of freedom playing in the inside
- 33:24Speaker 5: part of the field. I think he's fine. Okay, I
- 33:28Speaker 5: know you guys don't.
- 33:29Speaker 9: That's okay, No, No, I was no.
- 33:32Speaker 6: I was just gonna say there were a couple of
- 33:33Speaker 6: plays in seven on seven where you saw some of
- 33:35Speaker 6: the limitations with Marcus Jones height wise, and a couple
- 33:38Speaker 6: plays made over his head that you know in otherwise
- 33:41Speaker 6: a solid overall team performance, and you know, I.
- 33:44Speaker 9: Would just say, other than a couple guys, I have.
- 33:47Speaker 6: Some questions about quite a few of the defensive holdovers
- 33:51Speaker 6: from last year.
- 33:52Speaker 9: The guys that are gonna play a lot.
- 33:54Speaker 6: I would not Christian Gonzalez, not Christian Barmore, and maybe
- 33:58Speaker 6: not your bril Peppers. But after that, how are guys
- 34:00Speaker 6: going to fit in? Are they exactly what this coaching
- 34:02Speaker 6: staff is looking for even though they're on the roster
- 34:05Speaker 6: and it seems like they've got spots and they're gonna
- 34:07Speaker 6: play this year.
- 34:08Speaker 9: I have growing questions about some of those.
- 34:10Speaker 5: Yeah, that's a really that's a fair concern. And the
- 34:12Speaker 5: Marcus Jones thing, like his matchups need to be managed,
- 34:16Speaker 5: like he's going to have to play certain types of receivers.
- 34:18Speaker 5: If you're gonna put him up against the guy that
- 34:20Speaker 5: can go above the rim and make catches over his head,
- 34:23Speaker 5: then he's going to have some trouble. But if you
- 34:25Speaker 5: manage the type of receivers he's covering, he should be
- 34:28Speaker 5: all right. But a lot of people do, sir, on
- 34:31Speaker 5: this Kyle Duggar thing at this point, and what exactly
- 34:34Speaker 5: his future on this team even looks like I think
- 34:38Speaker 5: that that's like a badar was the first one, but
- 34:40Speaker 5: I feel like now everybody's kind of jumped onto this.
- 34:42Speaker 6: I mean, you can see with Peppers that it seems
- 34:44Speaker 6: like they like him as a linebacker, you know, especially
- 34:47Speaker 6: in the sub packages, where it seems like he's probably
- 34:50Speaker 6: gonna play alongside Spelene a lot on third down and
- 34:52Speaker 6: really focus on that rather than you know, the old
- 34:55Speaker 6: defense there were so much spinning.
- 34:57Speaker 9: The dial of Peppers is up here, and now we
- 34:59Speaker 9: drop him back.
- 35:00Speaker 6: It seems like they just want him to focus on
- 35:02Speaker 6: kind of playing in the box now. He said after
- 35:04Speaker 6: practice the other day he's been watching certain players from history.
- 35:07Speaker 6: Who was the only one he named Bob Sanders, So like,
- 35:09Speaker 6: don't watch the pot where he gets hurt, because it
- 35:11Speaker 6: is in every other game. But I think that provides
- 35:14Speaker 6: a little bit of a window into what this coaching
- 35:16Speaker 6: staff sees in Jabrill Peppers and how they're going to
- 35:19Speaker 6: employ him. So I would put him outside of that range.
- 35:21Speaker 6: It seems like they know what he can do and
- 35:22Speaker 6: they know how they want to use him. But some
- 35:24Speaker 6: of the other guys, I don't know.
- 35:25Speaker 4: I don't know, justin a Brookline writes in I look
- 35:27Speaker 4: through a few Commanders media summaries on the joint practice
- 35:31Speaker 4: and was surprised to see they were pleased with the
- 35:33Speaker 4: play of their cornerbacks, given how well most of the
- 35:36Speaker 4: New England local media highlighted the solid performance of the
- 35:39Speaker 4: Patriots receiver room you agree with this. They also seem
- 35:43Speaker 4: to think their tackles mostly Tunsil got the better of
- 35:45Speaker 4: our d line.
- 35:48Speaker 7: Was good, Tons was good.
- 35:49Speaker 6: Tunsell picked up key on White and tossed them once
- 35:52Speaker 6: and that was tun was good.
- 35:54Speaker 7: And I didn't think there the Washington cornerbacks were bad.
- 35:58Speaker 7: I thought most of it. I just thought that got
- 36:00Speaker 7: in that rhythm where you know, with pop, with some
- 36:03Speaker 7: crossers and stuff. But for the most there was one
- 36:07Speaker 7: red zone period that the Patriots I thought, really just
- 36:10Speaker 7: hammered Washington. And I guess that's one of those I mean,
- 36:13Speaker 7: I guess that's what all you're looking for for, you know,
- 36:15Speaker 7: for the Patriots offense. But I didn't think the I
- 36:18Speaker 7: didn't think early in the practice that the Patriots receivers
- 36:20Speaker 7: are making a lot of plays. But there wasn't a
- 36:23Speaker 7: period and I had it here. See this is why
- 36:24Speaker 7: I brought my notes. If back shoulder touchdown to Booty,
- 36:28Speaker 7: wheel route to Henderson wide open, dropped another touchdown, next
- 36:33Speaker 7: place slant to Henry for a touchdown. So there was
- 36:36Speaker 7: like a rhythm there that it was boom boom, boom,
- 36:38Speaker 7: and the Patriots I thought were dictating, But that was
- 36:41Speaker 7: like a very you know, again, the hurry up period
- 36:44Speaker 7: wasn't the same.
- 36:45Speaker 4: Yeah, Anthony writes in we did win the practice, Paul, Yeah, Paul.
- 36:49Speaker 4: I know, obviously it's just practice, but based on our
- 36:51Speaker 4: last four years of joint practices, this was a huge
- 36:54Speaker 4: step in the right direction. The reality is we were
- 36:56Speaker 4: a bottom four team last year and the Commanders were
- 36:59Speaker 4: a top four team. The fact that we gave them
- 37:01Speaker 4: all they could handle yesterday means to me that we won.
- 37:04Speaker 4: So maybe it's semantics, but nonetheless we are back.
- 37:07Speaker 7: LFG. What do you think of Washington going forward this year? Yeah,
- 37:13Speaker 7: I think they're gonna take a step You don't think
- 37:14Speaker 7: they're very good.
- 37:15Speaker 4: I think that.
- 37:15Speaker 7: I didn't say that, you said they're gonna take a
- 37:17Speaker 7: step back.
- 37:17Speaker 4: That doesn't mean I don't think they're very good, not
- 37:19Speaker 4: very good.
- 37:20Speaker 7: Not as good as last not as good as they
- 37:22Speaker 7: they had a record last year.
- 37:23Speaker 4: Right, you agree?
- 37:25Speaker 7: I absolutely agree. I didn't think they were that good
- 37:27Speaker 7: last year. I think they were the product one guy,
- 37:29Speaker 7: you gotta give him credit, throw five touchdown passes, go
- 37:32Speaker 7: ahead touchdown passes in the last thirty seconds. That's one
- 37:35Speaker 7: guy carrying you to win.
- 37:36Speaker 4: He's still on the tag and he's.
- 37:38Speaker 7: Still there's not sustainable.
- 37:40Speaker 4: Well that's why I think they're not going to be
- 37:42Speaker 4: as good as last year. But I think they're gonna be.
- 37:44Speaker 4: Do you think they're not as good?
- 37:46Speaker 7: What do you think they're not going to be as
- 37:48Speaker 7: good because you think they're they're really good, just not
- 37:50Speaker 7: going to be the state Or do you think they're
- 37:51Speaker 7: not that good?
- 37:52Speaker 4: They got a little lightning in the bottle, but they're
- 37:54Speaker 4: they're a good team.
- 37:56Speaker 7: Got hot at the time, lockstep, Freddy lock step.
- 37:59Speaker 4: But I don't think they're a bad team. They got lucky,
- 38:03Speaker 4: and that's where I think we part way.
- 38:05Speaker 7: Yeah, a five hundred team that was propped up by
- 38:08Speaker 7: a great quarterback.
- 38:10Speaker 4: But will that great quarterback be able to prop up
- 38:13Speaker 4: mid Thank you man, I didn't even know I would be.
- 38:17Speaker 5: Excited if I was Washington about the wide receivers outside
- 38:20Speaker 5: of McLaurin. And I know that McLaurin comes back, and
- 38:23Speaker 5: everything all of a sudden looks like it's all hunky dory.
- 38:25Speaker 5: But some other people got to catch the ball too.
- 38:27Speaker 7: We saw Cincinnati just had the guys magically come back
- 38:30Speaker 7: as the season started and didn't just all of a
- 38:32Speaker 7: sudden click right.
- 38:34Speaker 5: But I mean, Daniels is awesome. I think their offensive
- 38:37Speaker 5: line is going to be pretty good, like Tunzels are
- 38:38Speaker 5: really good left tackle, but pass rush on defense too.
- 38:43Speaker 5: I didn't, you know, really think much of some of
- 38:46Speaker 5: the guys that they were. You know, Doron Pain's a
- 38:48Speaker 5: good player. I guess if von Miller goes back in
- 38:51Speaker 5: the way back machine, like maybe maybe that could happen again.
- 38:53Speaker 7: I don't know, I'm strong. Yeah, I thought he was
- 38:57Speaker 7: pretty good. Yeah, I thought he got the better of
- 38:59Speaker 7: things on the use a couple of times.
- 39:00Speaker 5: I definitely thought their roster talent though across the board,
- 39:03Speaker 5: would be like clearly better than the Patriots as a
- 39:05Speaker 5: team that didn't. That was in the final four last year,
- 39:08Speaker 5: and I didn't feel that way. Now, if McLaurin was
- 39:11Speaker 5: out there, maybe all my feelings would have been different.
- 39:14Speaker 7: But oh, that's true, that is true.
- 39:15Speaker 6: I'd say two on the offensive line point a lot
- 39:18Speaker 6: of the pressure. Harold Landry coming off the offensive right side,
- 39:21Speaker 6: the right tackle, I saw him get burned a lot.
- 39:23Speaker 6: I don't know if it was always the same guy,
- 39:25Speaker 6: wasn't tracking that personnel, but I think it was their
- 39:27Speaker 6: left tackle, the rookie from last year that they moved
- 39:29Speaker 6: as a coleman.
- 39:30Speaker 9: Is that right to the right, Yeah, but it was
- 39:33Speaker 9: off the right side. I'm not sure. I'm not sure.
- 39:35Speaker 6: I don't know who it was, but whoever, their right
- 39:36Speaker 6: tackle was as well as bar More on the right side,
- 39:39Speaker 6: so I felt that the right side of the line
- 39:40Speaker 6: was where a lot of pressure was coming in.
- 39:42Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 39:42Speaker 5: I don't want to turn this into like we're killing
- 39:45Speaker 5: the Commanders, because like obviously they're I think they're they're good.
- 39:48Speaker 7: I just don't think they're as good as their record indicated.
- 39:51Speaker 7: I don't think they have as much Andrew Wiley, I believe.
- 39:54Speaker 5: Yeah, so he's like a veteran, like.
- 39:56Speaker 9: Yeah, journeyman.
- 39:57Speaker 6: He was getting toasted a little bit. But the left
- 39:59Speaker 6: side was, you know, pretty stout. I mean, that's why
- 40:01Speaker 6: I'm mentioning Barmore and Landry who were coming off the
- 40:04Speaker 6: right side. Even a little Tonga coming up the middle.
- 40:06Speaker 6: He was disruptive up there as well.
- 40:09Speaker 4: Randy's in Providence. Hey Randy, Randy, Hey guys, what's going Hey? Good?
- 40:16Speaker 15: So I was curious about number one, the Caydan Wallace
- 40:21Speaker 15: versus Cold Strange. It seemed like they were competing for
- 40:23Speaker 15: one spot. Just it's still seem that way and the
- 40:26Speaker 15: Patriots offense. I was perusing the Commander's podcasts and stuff
- 40:32Speaker 15: yesterday after to see their point of view, and they
- 40:35Speaker 15: felt like the Patriots offense really won.
- 40:37Speaker 7: I agree.
- 40:38Speaker 15: Do you think that the struggles we've seen are more
- 40:41Speaker 15: of a product of facing what could be a very
- 40:44Speaker 15: good defense in the Patriots defense?
- 40:46Speaker 5: No, that wasn't my takeaway. I not to like say
- 40:53Speaker 5: that the Patriots defense might not be very good, but
- 40:56Speaker 5: I just thought the Patriots offense, for the first time
- 40:59Speaker 5: in a while, I looked like it had a plan
- 41:01Speaker 5: and a rhythm of like how they were gonna attack
- 41:05Speaker 5: and how you know they're gonna get guys open, Like
- 41:07Speaker 5: they're running a lot of play action and you know
- 41:10Speaker 5: concepts that we've seen with McDaniels for years and years
- 41:12Speaker 5: with Gronk and the tight ends where some of those
- 41:15Speaker 5: catches that Hooper and Henry had. The guys are just
- 41:17Speaker 5: wide open. You know, there's nobody within ten yards of
- 41:20Speaker 5: Hooper on one of them.
- 41:21Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 41:21Speaker 5: So I think a lot of the stuff that the
- 41:23Speaker 5: Patriots were throwing at Washington defensively was just working.
- 41:26Speaker 7: Yep.
- 41:27Speaker 5: And I think that that's a really good sign. But
- 41:30Speaker 5: I don't necessarily not that I don't think the Patriots
- 41:32Speaker 5: are gonna have a bad defense, but I guess I
- 41:34Speaker 5: just don't necessarily look at it.
- 41:36Speaker 7: Yeah, And I would just caution that Randy, you know,
- 41:39Speaker 7: I think the Patriots offense was was good yesterday. I do,
- 41:43Speaker 7: and I think they were better than the Washington defense.
- 41:45Speaker 7: I thought, if you want to just break it down
- 41:47Speaker 7: that way, I would say that that they won the
- 41:49Speaker 7: Patriots offense, but I would also caution into I know,
- 41:53Speaker 7: what's joint practice. It is competitive, but it's it's not
- 41:58Speaker 7: the same as a real game because.
- 42:00Speaker 4: The quarterback doesn't have to worry about getting hit.
- 42:03Speaker 7: Well, there were also going to be sacks in that
- 42:05Speaker 7: both sides. Yeah, I think I think the Patriots would
- 42:07Speaker 7: have sacked Daniels and I know that the Commanders would
- 42:09Speaker 7: have sacked May on a couple of occasions. That changes
- 42:13Speaker 7: the whole outlook. You know, maybe the next play that
- 42:15Speaker 7: went for a touchdown is now third and twenty two,
- 42:18Speaker 7: do you know what I mean? Like, so that changes
- 42:19Speaker 7: the entire outlook of a play. Whereas everything is scripted
- 42:23Speaker 7: and they're running the play as this, you know, it's
- 42:26Speaker 7: already pretty de termined, like it's first down, place, second
- 42:29Speaker 7: down place, third down plays. It doesn't matter if the
- 42:32Speaker 7: previous play succeeded or failed. It's not impacting your play
- 42:34Speaker 7: call on the next play. As in a game, this
- 42:37Speaker 7: sequence is in sequencing involved.
- 42:40Speaker 6: Yeah, I just jump on that and say, I think
- 42:42Speaker 6: specifically Jayden and Daniels two is a player that you
- 42:44Speaker 6: can't get the true sense of.
- 42:45Speaker 9: Even in that situation where.
- 42:47Speaker 6: He's so slippery, he's probably focusing on trying to stay
- 42:51Speaker 6: in the pocket, on trying because we know he's got
- 42:53Speaker 6: the jets, so what you know, you're not going to
- 42:54Speaker 6: learn anything from that. It's been more beneficial for him
- 42:57Speaker 6: to staying in the pocket. Same progressions, and you know.
- 43:00Speaker 7: When May scrambled all the times he scored it out
- 43:02Speaker 7: where it's like they're blowing the whistle like some of
- 43:04Speaker 7: those might have been good runts. Yeah, Like I look
- 43:07Speaker 7: at it both ways like plays.
- 43:10Speaker 5: He had one early where I thought he got loose
- 43:12Speaker 5: and would have converted, but then you know, he was
- 43:16Speaker 5: flushed out of the pocket. So it's like it would
- 43:18Speaker 5: have it could have gone one of two ways. To
- 43:20Speaker 5: Paul's point, it could have been a sack, or he
- 43:21Speaker 5: might have gotten out and he might have gotten the
- 43:23Speaker 5: yards on the scramble. But I just, uh, I was
- 43:26Speaker 5: encouraged by the timing and the rhythm of the ball
- 43:31Speaker 5: coming out. It wasn't like May was holding the ball
- 43:33Speaker 5: and running around back there and finding completions just off
- 43:36Speaker 5: of his talent, like they were running the offense, like
- 43:39Speaker 5: he was executing the McDaniel's offense, and the ball was
- 43:41Speaker 5: coming out quickly, especially early on in the practice, to
- 43:45Speaker 5: pop like pop absolutely dusted like three or four times.
- 43:50Speaker 5: Sand was still at the beginning of practice, like really
- 43:53Speaker 5: beat him like clean off the line, and May found
- 43:57Speaker 5: him all all four times, you know, and just really
- 44:00Speaker 5: looked like, you know, you could envision like what it
- 44:03Speaker 5: was supposed to look like based off what we've seen
- 44:06Speaker 5: over the past decade of McDaniels, and then what it
- 44:09Speaker 5: looked like yesterday, and it was like, yeah, that you know,
- 44:12Speaker 5: Paul's Patriot plays like that was a pop over the middle.
- 44:16Speaker 5: That was a Patriot play.
- 44:17Speaker 7: Totally agree.

- 46:32Speaker 8: How's going Drake's going on? All right?
- 46:34Speaker 1: Kay Drake?
- 46:34Speaker 8: So your coach is in the pile. Your coach gets
- 46:38Speaker 8: a cut on his right. Yeah, what's that saying about him?
- 46:41Speaker 1: No?
- 46:41Speaker 8: I think, like I said, that's the that's what we're
- 46:44Speaker 8: trying to build, I think, And it starts with the coach.
- 46:45Speaker 8: Starts with the head coach. The intensity, bring it every day. Uh,
- 46:49Speaker 8: you'll take it, no crap, and you know we're right
- 46:50Speaker 8: there on the field. But also it comes to a
- 46:52Speaker 8: time where with our guys offensively and get over there
- 46:55Speaker 8: and get some muscles and kind of have some penalties
- 46:58Speaker 8: and extra after the whistle could get us in trouble.
- 47:00Speaker 8: But for mentality, I like it. I think that's what
- 47:02Speaker 8: you want. I mean I almost got in there, but
- 47:05Speaker 8: I think maybe another day maybe, so we'll see what happened.
- 47:07Speaker 15: I mean, the idea what started seemed like Trevian Henderson
- 47:10Speaker 15: might have been in Past Protector.
- 47:11Speaker 8: Yeah, I think Pastport. I think it's physical. It's a
- 47:13Speaker 8: physical game. You know, it's a it's a man's game,
- 47:15Speaker 8: and things happen out there. I'm not sure if anything
- 47:17Speaker 8: on this field happened. But I think there's a time
- 47:20Speaker 8: where obviously you don't want to come out here and
- 47:22Speaker 8: and fight and get into trouble, but at the same
- 47:24Speaker 8: time you want you want to back down for nobody.
- 47:26Speaker 8: So I'm sure your coach will get the mind get
- 47:29Speaker 8: kind of preacher, can't have that, but at the same time,
- 47:32Speaker 8: kind of in the back of our minds. So that's
- 47:35Speaker 8: kind of how we want to play the intensity and
- 47:38Speaker 8: kind of when the whistle's going to play hard, the
- 47:40Speaker 8: whistle stops, you'll get off and get away.
- 47:42Speaker 5: What did you like about what you guys were able
- 47:44Speaker 5: to do today offensively? And I just felt like you
- 47:47Speaker 5: guys were in a pretty good rhythm to start.
- 47:49Speaker 8: Yeah, I thought it moves well. You know, it's good
- 47:51Speaker 8: you'll play against another team. You're having all our guys
- 47:54Speaker 8: out there and kind of get in the rhythm, you know,
- 47:55Speaker 8: build some plays together and move the ball. I thought
- 47:58Speaker 8: we this good thing offensively, and wish we would have
- 48:01Speaker 8: ended it better, you know, tipball down there, but hey,
- 48:03Speaker 8: what happens. That's football and that's why you practice those
- 48:05Speaker 8: But uh, overalls powered up front. The guys up front,
- 48:07Speaker 8: they battled hard, so I'm looking forward to uh getting things,
- 48:11Speaker 8: you know, going as to getting in Minnesota and Friday night.
- 48:13Speaker 8: So I'm sorry jumped in really quick there.
- 48:16Speaker 9: How quickly do you feel like you're building.
- 48:17Speaker 17: Your chemistry with mac Hollins considering how much time he
- 48:21Speaker 17: missed in me?
- 48:22Speaker 8: Yeah, you know, otarios, the chemistry's already there, so it
- 48:25Speaker 8: don't even matter. So Greg with me tippaul was it
- 48:28Speaker 8: an eyes thing or just kind of a bangy goold
- 48:30Speaker 8: play for Bobby? I think I could have. I think
- 48:32Speaker 8: I could have, you know, looked him a different way
- 48:34Speaker 8: and he barely got hid out. I tried to throw
- 48:37Speaker 8: it with some speed down there in the red zone
- 48:38Speaker 8: and hopefully not have tip balls, but a good play
- 48:40Speaker 8: by him. Unfortunate, but I play. I think reading Ie.
- 48:43Speaker 7: Pick, do you look forward to playing in a preseason game?
- 48:45Speaker 8: Yeah, I think pres is a time to go out
- 48:47Speaker 8: there and get the jitters and you know, real life
- 48:49Speaker 8: when i'm live, you know, it's different from me being
- 48:51Speaker 8: able to get tackled and get hit. So it's good
- 48:53Speaker 8: to go out there and you'll kind of feel like
- 48:55Speaker 8: live bulls are flying around and kind of not have that,
- 48:58Speaker 8: you know. The first you know, snap of the season.
- 49:00Speaker 8: Did you have peter anticipation coming out here today?
- 49:03Speaker 13: Cool?
- 49:04Speaker 8: Anytime, any practice, any team period, really, you know, you know,
- 49:07Speaker 8: you get kind of the the jitters of you know,
- 49:09Speaker 8: want to do things right and make good plays, and
- 49:12Speaker 8: at the same time it kind of bounces out with
- 49:13Speaker 8: with the confidence myself and the conference of the guys
- 49:15Speaker 8: around me. So that's what you know, it's mixing sports special.
- 49:18Speaker 8: Do you feel like you're leaving the field today and saying, Hi,
- 49:20Speaker 8: that went fine. Yeah, it looked like some football out there.
- 49:23Speaker 8: It's a different team and you know felt good to
- 49:26Speaker 8: kind of get our operation done against somebody else and
- 49:28Speaker 8: we just have know, huddled. I thought we went well,
- 49:30Speaker 8: so it was good for us to you know, learn
- 49:31Speaker 8: from it, watch it and kind of build off it.
- 49:35Speaker 18: You know what you've been doing with Josh has been
- 49:38Speaker 18: teaching the new offense and kind of see it against
- 49:41Speaker 18: another team.
- 49:42Speaker 3: Yeah, it was that kind of positive affirmation.
- 49:45Speaker 8: Team as you think positive when you're moving the ball
- 49:48Speaker 8: and I feel like you has some good players, it's
- 49:49Speaker 8: positive and you'll come out here not like you you
- 49:52Speaker 8: didn't execut and didn't move the ball well, So it's
- 49:53Speaker 8: always positive.
- 49:54Speaker 19: You and Gene obviously same draft class, only one pick separate.
- 49:57Speaker 19: Teach you guys, you're probably gonna be compared for the
- 50:00Speaker 19: large part of your career. So how much do you
- 50:03Speaker 19: put on yourself to sort of keep pace with him
- 50:06Speaker 19: and everything he's doing.
- 50:07Speaker 8: Obviously had a greatyear. I saw him out there. Yeah,
- 50:08Speaker 8: congratulated him. What a what a what a year he had. Yeah,
- 50:11Speaker 8: I think there's a there's always in the back of
- 50:14Speaker 8: your mind, you know, the draft class came in with,
- 50:16Speaker 8: and anytime you play him especially, it's a little different.
- 50:18Speaker 8: But yeah, like you said, I think, uh, I'm just
- 50:20Speaker 8: trying to worry about myself. But at the end of
- 50:22Speaker 8: the day, keep up those guys. Those guys are you know,
- 50:24Speaker 8: him and Caleb and Bo those guys are good, good
- 50:27Speaker 8: friends of mine and uh, you know, friends until we
- 50:29Speaker 8: play each other.
- 50:29Speaker 9: So much approach to pass brow.
- 50:33Speaker 8: Yeah, I think he takes a real Yeah, I think
- 50:35Speaker 8: you saw it in college. I think it speaks for itself.
- 50:37Speaker 8: And I think coming here in the NFL, when you've
- 50:39Speaker 8: got you know, Bobby Wager coming into the a gap,
- 50:41Speaker 8: it's a little different, and uh, I got full confidence
- 50:43Speaker 8: in him.
- 50:44Speaker 7: You have to complete booty contested in the end, zone.
- 50:47Speaker 8: How much confidence do you have in Kashawan when you're
- 50:49Speaker 8: throwing SOA keep saying you do the right thing, keep
- 50:52Speaker 8: doing it over and over, and you you know, willing
- 50:53Speaker 8: to block in the run game, and I can trust you.
- 50:56Speaker 8: You know you're gonna be out there, and I think
- 50:57Speaker 8: you know, there's a bunch of guys that are making
- 50:59Speaker 8: things like that happen. Pops through a great job and
- 51:01Speaker 8: different guys in the room. So it's comforting knowing that
- 51:04Speaker 8: you're gonna be in the right spot. And it's my
- 51:05Speaker 8: job to give him a chance like having stuff out
- 51:08Speaker 8: there for some Yeah, it's good to get him in
- 51:10Speaker 8: there at the end, you know. I think anytime he
- 51:12Speaker 8: you know, he kind of get him in in the lineup,
- 51:14Speaker 8: it adds a different kind of swagger in the huddle
- 51:18Speaker 8: with Cup Douglass in this offense to what you can do.
- 51:22Speaker 13: Pop.
- 51:23Speaker 8: I think he's tough to guard. Like I said, I
- 51:24Speaker 8: think you see it in on little crossing routes and
- 51:27Speaker 8: a little quick moves when he's meeting a defender, you know,
- 51:30Speaker 8: face to face. So I think kind of all year
- 51:33Speaker 8: it's gonna be my our job to try to get
- 51:34Speaker 8: him opening space and let him run the football.
- 51:37Speaker 16: Did today Grin seeing a different team, what's that process
- 51:40Speaker 16: about the growth of vir offensive line?
- 51:42Speaker 8: Yeah, shoot, those guys are battling. You'll credit those guys.
- 51:45Speaker 8: We got, you know, some rookies in there. We got
- 51:46Speaker 8: some you know, veteran Garrett and Big Mo's coming back,
- 51:49Speaker 8: So you'll credit those guys. Big Mic, I mean, good
- 51:52Speaker 8: Gosh shows up every day, he doesn't complain, always in
- 51:56Speaker 8: a good mood. And I think you just credit those
- 51:58Speaker 8: guys for starting to build, kind of build up front,
- 52:00Speaker 8: and we got some guys coming in there that are
- 52:02Speaker 8: kind of earning a role and kind of being the
- 52:05Speaker 8: guys that dressed on game day.
- 52:06Speaker 4: Drake, did you happen to see Rabel bleeding?
- 52:08Speaker 19: Yeah?
- 52:08Speaker 8: I saw, yeah. Somehow say it was like, uh the
- 52:12Speaker 8: trump gunshot he wounds, So I was laughing at that.
- 52:15Speaker 8: But uh no, I think you saw what he's breaking
- 52:18Speaker 8: down the huddle and I'm not even sure what happened
- 52:20Speaker 8: when it happened, but uh, you know, he said, don't
- 52:23Speaker 8: worry about We'll see it on film, so we'll see.
- 52:24Speaker 9: Can break it down, break down drag.
- 52:27Speaker 19: It seems like you've done a really good job avoiding
- 52:28Speaker 19: bad looks as a passer this season. I'm wondering how
- 52:30Speaker 19: much of that is just your own maturation and how
- 52:32Speaker 19: much of that is working with Josh M.
- 52:33Speaker 3: David.
- 52:34Speaker 8: I think it's built within the offense. But also at
- 52:35Speaker 8: the same time, we always talk abound the court that room,
- 52:37Speaker 8: you know, do we have a good play or do
- 52:38Speaker 8: we have a bad look? And there's some times out
- 52:40Speaker 8: there where I thought we had a bad look and
- 52:41Speaker 8: I'm just trying to get to a better play.
- 52:44Speaker 5: You're a U n C guy, but Jason Tatum, Yeah,
- 52:47Speaker 5: I know, but you don't usually see those guys around
- 52:49Speaker 5: here too much.
- 52:50Speaker 8: But was it like to yeah, shoot you no, you know,
- 52:52Speaker 8: he's a he's a duke guy. But see what he's
- 52:54Speaker 8: done for Boston And uh, obviously I told him what
- 52:57Speaker 8: a heartbreak, what happened with him. I'm looking forward to
- 52:58Speaker 8: seeing him come back. And Uh, it's funny story. My
- 53:02Speaker 8: brother's here, my old bar Louke. His first start was
- 53:05Speaker 8: in Cameron against uh Duke and he was guarding Jason
- 53:08Speaker 8: his first art, so it was pretty cool. Do you
- 53:09Speaker 8: still compare yourself to Jason as a basketball player? Who
- 53:11Speaker 8: said that Kie? I said it'd be way off rand.
- 53:14Speaker 8: But he's got probably way bigger bag than I do.
- 53:16Speaker 8: So no, but sweet thing you.
- 53:18Speaker 7: Guys, and now great moments in history.
- 53:26Speaker 6: Would you rather totally give up kissing for the rest
- 53:29Speaker 6: of your life or give up sauces?
- 53:32Speaker 20: What?
- 53:32Speaker 3: Kissing or saucy?
- 53:33Speaker 9: Now that's good? What are the merry guys in their films?
- 53:40Speaker 7: I'm going kisses there, bro, I love you, love me
- 53:44Speaker 7: some sauces, the sweet and sour buffalo barbecue.
- 53:51Speaker 9: Honey, you can't, you can't give up on kissing.
- 53:54Speaker 5: Just yeah, I played the fi. There's no good answer
- 53:58Speaker 5: for me there because she she cooks it and partakes
- 54:00Speaker 5: in both things. So it's like, which one do I say,
- 54:03Speaker 5: either in salt or cooking or one.
- 54:08Speaker 7: Buffalo sauces? Good stuff.
- 54:09Speaker 8: That's another great moment.
- 54:14Speaker 4: All right back here and Patriots on FILD today, five
- 54:17Speaker 4: five pasts five hundred is the Hotline podcast at Patriots
- 54:20Speaker 4: dot com. Is the email address. We're talking about the
- 54:23Speaker 4: joint practice. We're also gonna talk a little bit about
- 54:27Speaker 4: what we might see tomorrow in the preseason game, as
- 54:31Speaker 4: well as the Brady Statue one veiling live at six
- 54:35Speaker 4: o'clock on Patriots dot Com. We also yesterday's practice. Jason
- 54:40Speaker 4: Tatum showed up but no boot.
- 54:42Speaker 14: Yeah, I was.
- 54:43Speaker 4: I'm just standing there, you know, in the media area
- 54:46Speaker 4: down by the rope there, and all of a sudden,
- 54:48Speaker 4: this you know, tall guy. It's like, that's Jason Tatum.
- 54:53Speaker 4: I have to admit I was a little bit starstruck.
- 54:55Speaker 14: You know.
- 54:56Speaker 3: You know he's tall and.
- 55:00Speaker 8: Tall.
- 55:02Speaker 3: You let me finish my sentence. Then you see Tatum
- 55:06Speaker 3: standing next.
- 55:07Speaker 10: To an offensive lineman or like a massive behemoth of
- 55:12Speaker 10: a d tackle, and You're like, Tatum is really effing tall.
- 55:16Speaker 5: And I think basketball players are sneakly the biggest athletes
- 55:20Speaker 5: because they're so tall and but they are also still fit,
- 55:24Speaker 5: like you know, and even like like Giannis is like
- 55:27Speaker 5: six eleven, you know, like and just thinking about that,
- 55:30Speaker 5: even next to an offensive lineman like tower over the
- 55:34Speaker 5: offensive line. So yeah, he was there, no boot.
- 55:37Speaker 7: I looked, no.
- 55:38Speaker 4: Boot, No, And he was on his feet for like
- 55:41Speaker 4: he stood the whole practice.
- 55:42Speaker 5: He wasn't pretty good.
- 55:44Speaker 7: Yeah, he was walking slowly, but his swagger, I am,
- 55:50Speaker 7: that's definitely on. That's not out of the realm, like
- 55:53Speaker 7: I was. I think it's I think it's six weeks.
- 55:55Speaker 7: You're supposed to be in the boot. So he's well
- 55:57Speaker 7: beyond six weeks. Yeah, he had like this new surgery.
- 56:03Speaker 7: I know it's going to have him back before this starts.
- 56:06Speaker 5: Can you let me have some hope, Paul for two seconds.
- 56:09Speaker 5: But so he had the surgery immediately, like within twenty
- 56:12Speaker 5: four hours, and then he had this new I think
- 56:15Speaker 5: it's called the speed bridge. It's like this new procedure
- 56:17Speaker 5: of how they you guys know me well enough to
- 56:24Speaker 5: know that I am now an expert on Achilles cover Like,
- 56:27Speaker 5: let's be honest. He had the speed Bridge procedure with
- 56:31Speaker 5: the best doctor in the world who performs this surgery
- 56:33Speaker 5: in New York City. But say we're playing in New
- 56:38Speaker 5: York when it happened.
- 56:39Speaker 7: So that's why you only had the surgery that night.
- 56:41Speaker 7: Can you can you let me that's a fact. He
- 56:44Speaker 7: had the surgery that night.
- 56:46Speaker 5: Okay, but let's just let's get past all the surgery nonsense.
- 56:51Speaker 7: Thank you.
- 56:52Speaker 5: In theory, February is nine months removed from Achilles surgery,
- 56:58Speaker 5: So the playoffs start in April.
- 57:00Speaker 7: I don't want him anywhere near the court. You're crazy
- 57:03Speaker 7: for the twenty five crazy Sason.
- 57:05Speaker 5: No, I'm not, Yes, you are.
- 57:06Speaker 7: There's the reason.
- 57:07Speaker 3: The other teams already noticed.
- 57:09Speaker 7: This is the reason why the other teams have already
- 57:10Speaker 7: ruled those guys out.
- 57:12Speaker 5: Well, Tyres Haliburton's injury happened six months, a.
- 57:14Speaker 7: Month later, and the other guy, why can I not
- 57:18Speaker 7: think of Damian Lillard has been a month earlier older, right,
- 57:23Speaker 7: because it's not a smart thing to do. If I
- 57:26Speaker 7: were the Celtics, that's my most valuable commodity. Rest be
- 57:32Speaker 7: ready and what are we gonna do. Let's go for
- 57:38Speaker 7: twenty six, twenty seven. You're championship contender immediately as soon
- 57:42Speaker 7: as he comes back healthy.
- 57:43Speaker 5: You're you're right, You're you're the rational one here, and
- 57:46Speaker 5: you're correct. That being said, what I is that, like,
- 57:49Speaker 5: what I worry about is the window in windows.
- 57:53Speaker 7: Clo Patrick Mahomes. As long as you got Jason Tatum,
- 57:56Speaker 7: your window is why secondighbor.
- 57:59Speaker 5: It's just all I don't want to.
- 58:00Speaker 10: I kind of agree with because not to go Celtics unfieldered,
- 58:04Speaker 10: but like, just you're right, there's a window, and it's like, Okay,
- 58:09Speaker 10: this year will just be a wash and we'll be
- 58:10Speaker 10: ready for next year. But that's God willing that Jalen
- 58:14Speaker 10: Brown doesn't have a bad injury.
- 58:16Speaker 7: This or or they can.
- 58:20Speaker 10: And I really think like this Tatum injury was like
- 58:22Speaker 10: a godsend for this new owner. It gave them like
- 58:25Speaker 10: the easy out to not pay.
- 58:27Speaker 7: If they can get rid of all those guys, I'd
- 58:29Speaker 7: be on board with.
- 58:30Speaker 9: The play right.
- 58:30Speaker 3: They've already said.
- 58:33Speaker 7: Top nine returning players, So why rush one of those
- 58:39Speaker 7: five guys back for what to play with?
- 58:41Speaker 5: Exactly because he's good enough to carry them to a championship,
- 58:45Speaker 5: but not if he's on is not coming back, Like
- 58:53Speaker 5: still genuinely cares deeply about that team. Throwing away an
- 58:57Speaker 5: entire year of Tatum's prime is a really tough bill,
- 58:59Speaker 5: but they're not tom.
- 59:00Speaker 4: It Away basically got hurt. I have to start dealing with.
- 59:03Speaker 7: That, right, young man. This is like, young man, Like
- 59:07Speaker 7: I talked to my son. At some point, you have
- 59:09Speaker 7: to address the possibility that it might not work out
- 59:12Speaker 7: the way you want it to, and you have to
- 59:13Speaker 7: deal with that.
- 59:14Speaker 4: You have to believe that even if he's back for
- 59:18Speaker 4: the playoffs, he's missed the whole season.
- 59:20Speaker 5: I'm not back. I'm not I'm not prepared for it.
- 59:22Speaker 3: But like, but that's really good. Yesterday he was on
- 59:25Speaker 3: his feet all day.
- 59:26Speaker 14: It was cool.
- 59:27Speaker 7: To see him.
- 59:27Speaker 3: It was cool to see him.
- 59:29Speaker 4: Brady blew out his knee like he could come back.
- 59:32Speaker 4: He walked to the locker room. He's okay.
- 59:35Speaker 7: Oh, God, like the Pageack thing the eight season away,
- 59:40Speaker 7: like the quarterback got hurt and they were no longer
- 59:42Speaker 7: a title contender. Like I said that happened.
- 59:45Speaker 6: When me and Evan were going on the field before
- 59:47Speaker 6: the instadium practice to get the crowd hyped up, we
- 59:49Speaker 6: walked by those stairs and I said to Evan, I'm like,
- 59:52Speaker 6: all I think about with these stairs is watching Brady
- 59:54Speaker 6: like slowly go down them in two thousand and eight,
- 59:57Speaker 6: and then Evan too well in Mac Jones two, So I.
- 59:59Speaker 4: Was part of Wow, Mac didn't go on his own.
- 1:00:03Speaker 6: No, I just remember watching Brady to going outstairs, and
- 1:00:05Speaker 6: I'm like, season is what it looks like.
- 1:00:09Speaker 4: I would have traded Brown and Tatum in a first
- 1:00:12Speaker 4: round pick to Dallas for Cooper Flag.
- 1:00:14Speaker 7: Oh, I'm very glad you're not so, am I You
- 1:00:19Speaker 7: wouldn't do that, God, No, I would.
- 1:00:21Speaker 5: Now.
- 1:00:22Speaker 4: The thing that I would solve, all the Celtics would
- 1:00:25Speaker 4: be able to restart financially and build build around.
- 1:00:29Speaker 7: They wouldn't be that good what they wouldn't be that good.
- 1:00:31Speaker 4: They wouldn't be that good for a while, but they
- 1:00:33Speaker 4: would rebuild.
- 1:00:34Speaker 7: But why do you want to do that? You're already great.
- 1:00:37Speaker 9: Well he's always looking at red hour back.
- 1:00:39Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm looking at twenty seven years old New England kid.
- 1:00:44Speaker 5: This isn't exactly like Pearson KG at the end.
- 1:00:46Speaker 4: So I was expecting everyone to say, I was expecting
- 1:00:49Speaker 4: every why would Dallas do that?
- 1:00:51Speaker 7: I'm surprised I would Dallas? Do you why would Dallas
- 1:00:54Speaker 7: do that so they could win a title?
- 1:00:55Speaker 4: No, I'm surprised.
- 1:00:56Speaker 9: I thought you all NBA.
- 1:00:58Speaker 4: I thought I thought you would say, no way would
- 1:01:01Speaker 4: they trade Cooper Flag for that? But I'm surprised to
- 1:01:03Speaker 4: hear that you think they would.
- 1:01:05Speaker 7: It would be for Tatum and Brown and Brown They'd
- 1:01:07Speaker 7: be negligent to not make that trade for a guy
- 1:01:10Speaker 7: who has You have no idea.
- 1:01:12Speaker 4: You're not gonna have Tatum this year, and you don't
- 1:01:14Speaker 4: know how you have him next year. I know you
- 1:01:16Speaker 4: hope and you hope they'll be the same.
- 1:01:19Speaker 7: Evan's got him back in February. Now you don't even
- 1:01:21Speaker 7: have him back next year. In the world, I mean,
- 1:01:24Speaker 7: if you have that bridge surgery speed speed Queen Speed
- 1:01:29Speaker 7: Queen speed Bridge.
- 1:01:31Speaker 4: Put him in the Speed Queen washer.
- 1:01:32Speaker 5: That's that's how I remember what it's called is because
- 1:01:35Speaker 5: I Speed Queen speed Bridge.
- 1:01:36Speaker 7: Right, But they's so Paul South Jersey.
- 1:01:40Speaker 5: If he if we go with Paul's route and they do,
- 1:01:43Speaker 5: they don't get Tatum back, which they probably won't them
- 1:01:48Speaker 5: Like quiet tanking is probably the best thing to do
- 1:01:51Speaker 5: because with the way that the second apron works in
- 1:01:53Speaker 5: the salary structure, like having the third star be on
- 1:01:57Speaker 5: a rookie contract is probably the smoothest way to keep
- 1:02:00Speaker 5: this thing rolling. So like if they if they're not
- 1:02:02Speaker 5: going to get Tatum for the year, then they should
- 1:02:05Speaker 5: probably purposely try these games.
- 1:02:08Speaker 7: That's just the reality, is how it's kind of that's
- 1:02:14Speaker 7: why everybody's no longer on the rush. How did they
- 1:02:16Speaker 7: get the len Bias pick Gerald Henderson?
- 1:02:20Speaker 5: Yeah, that was back before like the rest of the
- 1:02:22Speaker 5: league realized.
- 1:02:23Speaker 7: They traded Gerald Henderson for a first round pick, and
- 1:02:25Speaker 7: then that team was and they ended up being the
- 1:02:27Speaker 7: number two pick in the draft.
- 1:02:28Speaker 5: That was before teams realized like how valuable drafts were,
- 1:02:32Speaker 5: and like Red hour back was really ahead of the times.
- 1:02:35Speaker 3: And what happened after should they get like you just
- 1:02:39Speaker 3: have to. That's it, like no compass, Like, no they didn't,
- 1:02:47Speaker 3: you didn't.
- 1:02:48Speaker 7: And I hate to be like next Day and making
- 1:02:52Speaker 7: fun of I always make fun of evan screen team
- 1:02:54Speaker 7: or habits, but I'm a Green team or too at heart.
- 1:02:57Speaker 7: And I will tell you that that whole bridge that
- 1:03:00Speaker 7: was there, it was Len Bias and Reggie Lewis. Yeah,
- 1:03:02Speaker 7: they would have continued to be a title contender throughout
- 1:03:05Speaker 7: the early nineties and into the mid nineties had those
- 1:03:08Speaker 7: two guys not died. Now, I know that's a Green teamer,
- 1:03:11Speaker 7: you know, point of view? True though, Yeah, definitely seen.
- 1:03:15Speaker 7: Reggie was an all star.
- 1:03:17Speaker 3: I can't imagine living.
- 1:03:18Speaker 7: And they just lost two potential stars.
- 1:03:22Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah, you know, ruined tragically.
- 1:03:26Speaker 4: Yemmy in Texas Rights in can I can.
- 1:03:28Speaker 7: I just read this email without knowing what it says. Yeah,
- 1:03:31Speaker 7: we'll just being Washington in a joint practice. And you
- 1:03:34Speaker 7: guys are talking about the Celtics, don't this is Patriots
- 1:03:37Speaker 7: on filter? No, No, those haven't the defense.
- 1:03:42Speaker 4: Those haven't come yet, Bias, those will be here contribution.
- 1:03:46Speaker 4: But Yemmy in Texas Rights in Greg Madard says Mike
- 1:03:50Speaker 4: rabel Is running the lightest training camp he's seen in
- 1:03:53Speaker 4: twenty years. What's your perspective on this.
- 1:03:57Speaker 7: I don't see it that way. I think camp has
- 1:04:00Speaker 7: been fine, been very similar to what I've been seeing
- 1:04:03Speaker 7: for the last ten years.
- 1:04:05Speaker 9: Yeah, that's I mean I had less experience.
- 1:04:07Speaker 4: I mean last year there was some practices with Yeah.
- 1:04:12Speaker 7: I think the practices were longer last year because it
- 1:04:14Speaker 7: took too long to get them going. I made comments
- 1:04:17Speaker 7: about that last year all the time.
- 1:04:20Speaker 3: And then they would like run hills at the end.
- 1:04:22Speaker 9: Yeah, I thought Monday was pretty tough. Monday was a.
- 1:04:24Speaker 7: Long I think the practices have been fine. They've had
- 1:04:27Speaker 7: a couple of walkthroughs that we have access to, and
- 1:04:30Speaker 7: sometimes in the Belichick era, we didn't have access to walkthroughs.
- 1:04:33Speaker 7: Now we have to go to all of them. Thanks Obama, Evan,
- 1:04:39Speaker 7: you'll be You'll be happy to know that.
- 1:04:42Speaker 4: Chris and Santa Fe writes in says, I got the
- 1:04:45Speaker 4: speed bridge procedure last year, and now I trust my
- 1:04:49Speaker 4: fixed side more than the other side. Hold on to that, hope, Evan.
- 1:04:55Speaker 5: Post All Star break Baby, Jason Tatum's coming back into stuff.
- 1:04:59Speaker 4: He said he it was back at work at my desk,
- 1:05:01Speaker 4: job the next week.
- 1:05:02Speaker 7: I know what he's talking about the ball I missed
- 1:05:05Speaker 7: like two days, Like, it's not that's not like at
- 1:05:09Speaker 7: desk job is it's nothing impressive about that still makes
- 1:05:14Speaker 7: fun of me for walking into my crutches, But I
- 1:05:19Speaker 7: I totally understand that mentality of I trust the fixed
- 1:05:23Speaker 7: side better than the other side, because I definitely do.
- 1:05:26Speaker 7: I feel like the other one is going to go
- 1:05:27Speaker 7: any minutes right every time I feel is that hard
- 1:05:32Speaker 7: to walk on it for a while? Is that the
- 1:05:34Speaker 7: two and a half weeks that I walked on him
- 1:05:35Speaker 7: without knowing?
- 1:05:37Speaker 6: Well after you got fixed, Like for Tatum and them
- 1:05:39Speaker 6: saying he stood out there to practice all day.
- 1:05:41Speaker 7: Like, yeah, it wasn't. It wasn't an issue. Like it's
- 1:05:44Speaker 7: running stop. Once the boot comes off, you feel like
- 1:05:46Speaker 7: you're completely free, you know, and you can just you
- 1:05:50Speaker 7: gotta be careful.
- 1:05:51Speaker 9: You can't like jump, yeah, you know that's ball is
- 1:05:57Speaker 9: jumping and lunching.
- 1:05:58Speaker 3: Yeah in the Lateral movie mints of pivoting.
- 1:06:01Speaker 7: Plus, we all also have to take into consideration this
- 1:06:03Speaker 7: is an elite athlete. It's a little different than you
- 1:06:06Speaker 7: know what I mean.
- 1:06:06Speaker 4: You sage my point.
- 1:06:12Speaker 5: When everybody's like he's not coming back. I'm like, we're
- 1:06:15Speaker 5: talking about Jason freaking.
- 1:06:17Speaker 7: I'm not saying. I'm not saying he can't come back,
- 1:06:19Speaker 7: like it's impossible. I'm saying I don't want him to
- 1:06:21Speaker 7: come back.
- 1:06:22Speaker 3: Worth it.
- 1:06:23Speaker 7: It's not worth it to me.
- 1:06:25Speaker 5: It is worth it.
- 1:06:27Speaker 4: You're selfish, Yes about him?
- 1:06:31Speaker 7: The fans, Yes, it's all about you. Good fans recognize
- 1:06:36Speaker 7: what they're doing and they're gonna anyway.
- 1:06:38Speaker 4: Was that practice didn't know.
- 1:06:41Speaker 7: Was there?
- 1:06:42Speaker 3: It was a big star study.
- 1:06:43Speaker 7: Yeah, Danny Amidola, the Twins.
- 1:06:46Speaker 4: I really expected the Helpopter to be coming down.
- 1:06:49Speaker 7: Chung and left. I saw it leaving.
- 1:06:51Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:06:52Speaker 9: I thought I thought JB. John bon Jovi would have
- 1:06:55Speaker 9: stuck with Bill. I thought that was a Bill guy.
- 1:06:57Speaker 9: But I guess he's like you likes them, Boat.
- 1:07:01Speaker 7: Don't get the chores, You don't make me choose.
- 1:07:04Speaker 5: I'm gonna hang out with him tonight.
- 1:07:06Speaker 4: Is that okay?
- 1:07:06Speaker 3: He's got the house in the ham right, It's nice
- 1:07:10Speaker 3: to have seen it.
- 1:07:12Speaker 4: Forty eight million dollars.
- 1:07:14Speaker 10: Freakin' that's the that strip of real estate in Southampton.
- 1:07:17Speaker 10: Oh yeah, there's levels to wealth, you know, and like
- 1:07:20Speaker 10: I want to be rich one day. I fully think
- 1:07:22Speaker 10: I will be not like that.
- 1:07:24Speaker 7: Will you remember us?
- 1:07:25Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:07:27Speaker 10: Well, the first thing I do when I make it
- 1:07:29Speaker 10: big is I'm going to buy a boat. I'm going
- 1:07:31Speaker 10: to redo my mom's kitchen, and I'm buying paul.
- 1:07:39Speaker 7: A camera.
- 1:07:39Speaker 3: I don't want to get in trouble with Kenny Yea,
- 1:07:42Speaker 3: buy you a nice midsize sedan.
- 1:07:45Speaker 7: Purpose.
- 1:07:47Speaker 4: Let's see Thordor right sid he's from Iceland.
- 1:07:51Speaker 20: Uh.
- 1:07:51Speaker 4: I'm curious because yesterday in the review episode for the
- 1:07:54Speaker 4: joint practice with the Commanders, you talked about how the
- 1:07:57Speaker 4: interception from May was the last thing you saw and
- 1:07:59Speaker 4: how it affected how you looked at his practice. If
- 1:08:02Speaker 4: May had thrown that interception earlier in practice rather than
- 1:08:05Speaker 4: at the end, would you have looked at it differently.
- 1:08:08Speaker 9: It depends on the period.
- 1:08:08Speaker 6: I mean, for me, it was all about this is
- 1:08:11Speaker 6: the competitive period of practice. So if it was the
- 1:08:13Speaker 6: you know, all right, here's the situation.
- 1:08:15Speaker 9: It's all on the table.
- 1:08:17Speaker 6: Paul mentioned earlier, the earlier eleven on eleven periods are
- 1:08:20Speaker 6: like this is first and ten, this is going to
- 1:08:22Speaker 6: be second and short.
- 1:08:23Speaker 9: It's all controlled. So this was the third practice in
- 1:08:25Speaker 9: a row at.
- 1:08:26Speaker 6: The end in the competitive portion where you know he
- 1:08:28Speaker 6: wasn't quite able to get him over the hump. But
- 1:08:30Speaker 6: I mean, I said specifically in the show, and I
- 1:08:32Speaker 6: wanted this to make this out to color his whole practice,
- 1:08:34Speaker 6: but I can't keep every time we come in here
- 1:08:36Speaker 6: talk about I'm waiting for Drake.
- 1:08:38Speaker 9: Is Drake killer or not? And then we see three
- 1:08:40Speaker 9: straight competitive periods and he hasn't really been a killer yet.
- 1:08:42Speaker 9: You know, That's that's part of the story to me
- 1:08:44Speaker 9: so far.
- 1:08:45Speaker 4: Chris wants to clarify that he works at a standing yeah,
- 1:08:49Speaker 4: oh oh, flex sniff his desk job as a standing job, right, I'm.
- 1:08:53Speaker 7: Just saying that as a standing once you have the
- 1:08:56Speaker 7: surgery and you're in a boot for a little bit,
- 1:08:58Speaker 7: then you're you're okay. You just got to before you can,
- 1:09:00Speaker 7: you know, play NBA basketball.
- 1:09:03Speaker 5: I just wonder on that pick, like sometimes I feel
- 1:09:06Speaker 5: like Drake gets like really excited when somebody gets open,
- 1:09:10Speaker 5: like for a touchdown, and he's like, oh, he's open,
- 1:09:12Speaker 5: and then he just like throws it. And you know
- 1:09:14Speaker 5: guys that are like veteran players like Bobby Wagner who
- 1:09:17Speaker 5: are smart enough to read quarterback's eyes. He just took
- 1:09:20Speaker 5: him right to the party, you know. And that's what
- 1:09:22Speaker 5: he said after the practice was, you.
- 1:09:23Speaker 7: Know, I welcome to the party.
- 1:09:26Speaker 5: You got to move him with with my eyes or
- 1:09:28Speaker 5: hold him in the middle of the field for a
- 1:09:30Speaker 5: beat or something like that. Yeah, he just like immediately
- 1:09:33Speaker 5: saw a pop flash open and just took Bobby Wagner
- 1:09:37Speaker 5: right to it.
- 1:09:37Speaker 7: And I also give Wagner some credit. I don't think
- 1:09:40Speaker 7: that just any linebacker makes that play.
- 1:09:42Speaker 4: Yeah, he's pretty good.
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: You know me.
- 1:09:46Speaker 9: Again, I'm probably annoying some fans with this take, and
- 1:09:49Speaker 9: you know, the people who want Drake to be.
- 1:09:53Speaker 7: Well, But I know what you're It didn't necessarily tank
- 1:09:57Speaker 7: my view of the offenses before Woman's yesterday and Drake's
- 1:10:01Speaker 7: in particular, But I understand what you're talking about. You're
- 1:10:03Speaker 7: looking to see him succeed in one of those series now,
- 1:10:06Speaker 7: if it makes you feel any better. The Patriots defense
- 1:10:08Speaker 7: did the same thing. They allowed a couple of completions
- 1:10:10Speaker 7: to let them get goal to go, and then they
- 1:10:11Speaker 7: shut them down.
- 1:10:12Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:10:14Speaker 6: I was saying to when we came down to that
- 1:10:16Speaker 6: fourth fourth down play, I'm like, just get a stop here.
- 1:10:18Speaker 6: I can't deal with like they had a really good
- 1:10:20Speaker 6: practice all around, But then the only narrative is.
- 1:10:22Speaker 9: Going to be, well, Drake threw an interception, in jan
- 1:10:24Speaker 9: Daniels threw a touchdown.
- 1:10:25Speaker 7: It did really put a lot of stock on those
- 1:10:27Speaker 7: last My brain was working those last forty five second
- 1:10:30Speaker 7: drives from the twenty five yard line.
- 1:10:31Speaker 9: There's only two of them.
- 1:10:33Speaker 5: But he's not wrong to think the way that those
- 1:10:36Speaker 5: were important.
- 1:10:36Speaker 7: I do think those drives were important. They did do
- 1:10:39Speaker 7: down in distance, The clock was a factor. There was
- 1:10:41Speaker 7: a little bit more at stakes with Mike.
- 1:10:45Speaker 6: Tune in next week when Evan and I are in
- 1:10:47Speaker 6: Minnesota and they're going to do that same kind of
- 1:10:50Speaker 6: competitive portion to end the period, and I'll.
- 1:10:52Speaker 7: Be you know what happened when they looks like this
- 1:10:57Speaker 7: dog just died, And that's probably you know, I think
- 1:11:00Speaker 7: we did.
- 1:11:00Speaker 5: Enough because like this is like this is this has
- 1:11:06Speaker 5: been his most since North Carolina. Yeah, is like you
- 1:11:09Speaker 5: can bottle up his throws and put them up against
- 1:11:13Speaker 5: any quarterback in the country or any quarterback in the NFL,
- 1:11:16Speaker 5: and he throws some of the prettiest balls of anybody.
- 1:11:19Speaker 5: But then when it came down to like, well did
- 1:11:21Speaker 5: they win the game, it was like no, they like
- 1:11:26Speaker 5: he made five of the best throws you've ever seen
- 1:11:29Speaker 5: against MC State, but they they lost by two touchdowns
- 1:11:32Speaker 5: and you're just like, wait, what, Like how do those
- 1:11:34Speaker 5: two things go inside? And like when you watch like
- 1:11:36Speaker 5: the all twenty two in his college, like you're not
- 1:11:38Speaker 5: really paying attention to the score. You're just like watching him,
- 1:11:42Speaker 5: and like all of a sudden, the scoreboard will flash
- 1:11:44Speaker 5: and they'll be down by like two touchdowns, and you're like,
- 1:11:46Speaker 5: but I think he's played awesome, Like what do you mean?
- 1:11:48Speaker 6: I mean, is it a little bit opposite of Tom Brady?
- 1:11:51Speaker 6: And I don't remember what Tom Brady was like coming out.
- 1:11:53Speaker 6: I knew that he had won big games, right and
- 1:11:54Speaker 6: that that was part of the positive on his scouting
- 1:11:57Speaker 6: report was that and the big games, this kid plays
- 1:11:59Speaker 6: pretty well well. I just wonder how much of a
- 1:12:01Speaker 6: part of the Scott and report that should always be,
- 1:12:03Speaker 6: Like was Patrick Mahomes like that? Because Patrick Mahomes in
- 1:12:05Speaker 6: the NFL right now is a killer and you know
- 1:12:08Speaker 6: that you're gonna have to Texas.
- 1:12:11Speaker 5: He had really got his stats because he played in
- 1:12:13Speaker 5: that air raid with Clint Kingsbury, and but like they
- 1:12:16Speaker 5: didn't win very many games. That was like the knock
- 1:12:18Speaker 5: on him coming out is that they didn't win, Like
- 1:12:20Speaker 5: he threw for five thousand yards and fifty touchdowns. But
- 1:12:24Speaker 5: then that's it, and.
- 1:12:25Speaker 6: That's me is all the psychology of like this year
- 1:12:27Speaker 6: with Drake May how do you get to that point?
- 1:12:29Speaker 6: How do you get these guys? I mean, Josh Allen's
- 1:12:31Speaker 6: pretty much there too. I'd you know, say Burrows probably
- 1:12:34Speaker 6: often in that category. But that's what goes from like
- 1:12:38Speaker 6: the guys like Justin Herbert, who have all the talent
- 1:12:40Speaker 6: in the world but haven't really won anything yet, to
- 1:12:42Speaker 6: the guys who even if they have some warts in
- 1:12:44Speaker 6: their game like Josh Allen did, but worked on them
- 1:12:46Speaker 6: and now you know that he's going to be a
- 1:12:48Speaker 6: pain in the ass right down till the clock hit zero.
- 1:12:50Speaker 6: That's you know, And that's where you got to get
- 1:12:52Speaker 6: Drake if he's really going to be the guy and
- 1:12:53Speaker 6: not just you know, the brock perties of the world
- 1:12:56Speaker 6: where yeah, they got the stats, but like when it
- 1:12:58Speaker 6: ultimately comes down to the big games, are they going
- 1:12:59Speaker 6: to win the titles?
- 1:13:01Speaker 9: That's what matters.
- 1:13:02Speaker 7: We talk about this a lot too, And I was
- 1:13:04Speaker 7: teasing Fred about what he thought about Washington because that's
- 1:13:07Speaker 7: the fact of the matter, in that league, there's very
- 1:13:11Speaker 7: little to determine the difference between say seventh eighth best
- 1:13:15Speaker 7: team and like the sixteenth or seventeenth best team, they're
- 1:13:19Speaker 7: very similar. It's what do you do in the in
- 1:13:22Speaker 7: the seven or eight games that are going to be
- 1:13:24Speaker 7: decided by one score? How do you win them? And
- 1:13:27Speaker 7: the teams that generally do really well find you know,
- 1:13:30Speaker 7: Minnesota's excelled at that the last few years, is that
- 1:13:34Speaker 7: because of Kevin O'Connell. Is he just really really good
- 1:13:37Speaker 7: with the you know, and being able to win those
- 1:13:39Speaker 7: games at the end. The Patriots haven't been able to
- 1:13:42Speaker 7: do that. They didn't they couldn't do it with Mac
- 1:13:44Speaker 7: Jones and you know last year, small sample, he's just
- 1:13:47Speaker 7: getting started, but they didn't. They weren't able to win
- 1:13:49Speaker 7: any of those one scored games at the end with
- 1:13:52Speaker 7: Drake May. And if that doesn't change, it's hard because
- 1:13:55Speaker 7: it's hard to just win every game going away. We
- 1:13:57Speaker 7: saw that with Mac Jones that was the only way
- 1:13:59Speaker 7: they could win is jumping out in front, getting the
- 1:14:01Speaker 7: lead and then playing on their terms.
- 1:14:03Speaker 4: The vast majority of games in the NFL decided by
- 1:14:05Speaker 4: less than eight points.
- 1:14:07Speaker 6: Right and I wonder how much of that is a
- 1:14:08Speaker 6: skill that is developed, because I think, maybe wrongly, we
- 1:14:12Speaker 6: look at it.
- 1:14:13Speaker 9: As something that's innate. Being clutch is just kind of innate.
- 1:14:16Speaker 6: But you know, even Brady, I mean, he was kind
- 1:14:18Speaker 6: of innate with it, right, How many of those one
- 1:14:22Speaker 6: possession games when they didn't look like they had it
- 1:14:25Speaker 6: that day, it didn't really seem like the Patriots were
- 1:14:27Speaker 6: going to win the game, and then all of a
- 1:14:28Speaker 6: sudden he puts a couple drives together in the last
- 1:14:31Speaker 6: five minutes and you know it was his third start.
- 1:14:33Speaker 7: Was the game against San Diego that he came from
- 1:14:35Speaker 7: ten behind in the last two minutes. Yeah, you know,
- 1:14:39Speaker 7: and they ended up winning an overtime.
- 1:14:41Speaker 5: Yeah, it's the we brought up Herbert, And I think
- 1:14:44Speaker 5: Herbert right now is probably the leader of the pack
- 1:14:48Speaker 5: of this category.
- 1:14:49Speaker 7: He's Drake May on steroids, right.
- 1:14:52Speaker 5: Like Herbert, Trevor Lawrence, like those guys that when you
- 1:14:55Speaker 5: watch them play, they are clearly franchise quarterbacks just by
- 1:14:59Speaker 5: the eye tech, but then you look at the results
- 1:15:02Speaker 5: and it's like, but they don't they don't really win.
- 1:15:05Speaker 5: And like Herbert's made the playoffs, Herbert's bring good yeah, but.
- 1:15:08Speaker 6: Not great, right, and they have like you know, the
- 1:15:10Speaker 6: five thousand you know, the five hundred yard passing game,
- 1:15:12Speaker 6: like it's great, but right, are you consistent that.
- 1:15:14Speaker 7: Game in Houston in the playoffs last year for Herbert
- 1:15:17Speaker 7: Now they had played, they had a pretty good year.
- 1:15:20Speaker 7: I thought they were a better team than Houston, even
- 1:15:22Speaker 7: though they're on the road, because Houston's a division winner. Yeah,
- 1:15:25Speaker 7: all of a sudden, it's a flurry of mistakes. It
- 1:15:27Speaker 7: throws a couple of picks and the game's out of
- 1:15:29Speaker 7: hand and they loose.
- 1:15:31Speaker 4: Paul reminded me that this weekend is tax free weekend. Sure,

- 1:16:37Speaker 7: with back to normal.
- 1:16:41Speaker 4: So I thought you already always had somebody with you.
- 1:16:44Speaker 7: Last year we had Brian Hoyer. But Hoyer is on
- 1:16:46Speaker 7: the sideline this year. Okay, so that was a one
- 1:16:48Speaker 7: time thing because of Drake May.
- 1:16:50Speaker 4: Okay, so they're not replacing him in the studio.
- 1:16:54Speaker 7: No, Normally it's just me in the studio. So last
- 1:16:59Speaker 7: year we had Brian, didn't do it because we wanted
- 1:17:01Speaker 7: him to break down Drake May's offense on the telestrator.
- 1:17:03Speaker 4: M the pulls in the studio in the game, like
- 1:17:06Speaker 4: maybe they'll come to me. They didn't come to maybe
- 1:17:08Speaker 4: they'll coin't.
- 1:17:10Speaker 9: I'm excited to experience.
- 1:17:11Speaker 7: That's kind of that's kind of the way it goes.
- 1:17:13Speaker 7: I'm ready and everybody. You got anything to Yeah, I'm
- 1:17:15Speaker 7: ready and we're going to comp maybe after the turn.
- 1:17:21Speaker 6: I thought you were just there to sell couches, like
- 1:17:22Speaker 6: I thought you just they cut to you and you're
- 1:17:24Speaker 6: just supposed to be lounging around looking comfortable and be like, I,
- 1:17:27Speaker 6: you know, know what's going on the game.
- 1:17:28Speaker 5: Guys, but I'm really coming kind of feeling we don't really,
- 1:17:31Speaker 5: But they were like, hey.
- 1:17:32Speaker 9: Look there's Paul you know, to pop up on the TV.
- 1:17:34Speaker 9: We can't hear you, so we assume you're saying nice things.
- 1:17:36Speaker 6: But yeah, I thought maybe you're just you know, giving
- 1:17:38Speaker 6: a sales pitch about the automan No, I don't.
- 1:17:40Speaker 7: I don't sell any merch.
- 1:17:41Speaker 6: It's like, you know Fred's style transitions where you're like,
- 1:17:44Speaker 6: you know, Patriots seemed like they were kicking their feet
- 1:17:46Speaker 6: back on that drive and you know that automate and
- 1:17:48Speaker 6: Bosses Camp furniture.
- 1:17:50Speaker 7: That's you're ready, You're ready.
- 1:17:53Speaker 5: I think there was it Pat McAfee that that like
- 1:17:56Speaker 5: like my accident. Yeah, it was like this is the
- 1:17:58Speaker 5: most Boston guy.
- 1:18:01Speaker 7: He likes my accent, freaking punter.
- 1:18:06Speaker 4: His accent comes from uh bro, it's a bro accident.
- 1:18:11Speaker 4: Uh let's go to Florida where Kingston is on the line.
- 1:18:15Speaker 4: Hello Kingston, Kingston, the crank it up, Matt from Georgia,
- 1:18:27Speaker 4: Ford from Savannah. I had Kingston from Florida. I don't
- 1:18:30Speaker 4: know how that happened, but hello Ford.
- 1:18:36Speaker 2: I'm fourteen and on the first time following and ever
- 1:18:41Speaker 2: since he guys showed my uncle pictures, he's never stopped
- 1:18:45Speaker 2: wearing a back cat.
- 1:18:49Speaker 4: Okay? Is that it all right? Keep going?
- 1:18:57Speaker 20: Besides what should I get?
- 1:19:00Speaker 10: Oh?
- 1:19:01Speaker 9: Get it digs?
- 1:19:02Speaker 7: What Jersey?
- 1:19:03Speaker 4: Besides Drake may and get a will cam. You'll you'll
- 1:19:06Speaker 4: listen to that off the air?
- 1:19:09Speaker 9: What would you say with the first one of the
- 1:19:10Speaker 9: backwards had?
- 1:19:11Speaker 7: Who is that?
- 1:19:11Speaker 3: I think he's had his uncle ever since.
- 1:19:13Speaker 9: We said he's throwing out the vibe. We needed a
- 1:19:16Speaker 9: ruling from you yesterday, Alex.
- 1:19:18Speaker 6: Though yesterday because Dan Campbell's fond of the fitted hat backwards,
- 1:19:20Speaker 6: do we get a ruling on that the fitted hat
- 1:19:22Speaker 6: versus like the mesh snap.
- 1:19:23Speaker 10: Back It was fitted flat brim or flat brim snap
- 1:19:29Speaker 10: back flat room snapbacks, flat room snap back.
- 1:19:32Speaker 3: Backward, flat brim fitted. I don't think you should wear backwards?
- 1:19:36Speaker 4: Okay? Yeah, all right, Well to me, the brim doesn't
- 1:19:39Speaker 4: matter if you're gonna wear it backwards like I don't.
- 1:19:41Speaker 3: The brim doesn't matter.
- 1:19:42Speaker 10: But a fitted hat tends to have like more of
- 1:19:45Speaker 10: a flat brim, and there's not the little people right.
- 1:19:50Speaker 2: Like.
- 1:19:50Speaker 4: A fitted hat backwards to me is even worse. Yeah,
- 1:19:53Speaker 4: that looks it looks like you're wearing a beanie.
- 1:19:55Speaker 3: That doesn't look good.
- 1:19:57Speaker 10: But if it's the flat brim snap back or a
- 1:20:00Speaker 10: standard baseball like dad hat like you're forty seven, yeah,
- 1:20:04Speaker 10: those are good backwards.
- 1:20:05Speaker 5: So the flat room snap back is that's the.
- 1:20:08Speaker 3: New thing right now, and it's not flattering on the face.
- 1:20:11Speaker 5: I'm a big pad guy.
- 1:20:12Speaker 9: We gotta TELLQ that's what they call dan Quinn.
- 1:20:15Speaker 7: That's yeah, that's good. Friends.
- 1:20:17Speaker 5: The Red Sox Green Monster version flat room snapback is
- 1:20:23Speaker 5: sold out, like you can't. I got one at the
- 1:20:26Speaker 5: ground floor, so we're fine.
- 1:20:27Speaker 9: But it's that's pretty cool.
- 1:20:28Speaker 4: Also, I don't like flat hom hats.
- 1:20:31Speaker 7: I don't like flat brims.
- 1:20:32Speaker 4: I think they look goofy.
- 1:20:35Speaker 3: I don't like some people, but a lot of people
- 1:20:39Speaker 3: pull them off. I'm not one of those people.
- 1:20:42Speaker 7: I've never seen anyone I thought looked good in it.
- 1:20:44Speaker 7: But I'm too old for it. It's a young it's
- 1:20:46Speaker 7: a young man's game.
- 1:20:47Speaker 4: Freddy just just skateboard somewhere else.
- 1:20:49Speaker 7: We're just living in it.
- 1:20:51Speaker 4: Dominiques in New York. What's up, Dominique?
- 1:20:56Speaker 8: Hey?
- 1:20:56Speaker 4: Hey, how you doing?
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: Hey?
- 1:21:00Speaker 13: Recoverage on everything from saying campus and love them to recap.
- 1:21:04Speaker 13: I gotta make a mission I actually may like, especially
- 1:21:07Speaker 13: with a wide receiver room. I was so concerned about
- 1:21:10Speaker 13: want of certain players just to make it. Whether it's
- 1:21:12Speaker 13: like Jays and Polk kind of redeeming and so Jason
- 1:21:15Speaker 13: Baker only because they were, you know, our draft picks
- 1:21:17Speaker 13: from last year. But it's kind of nice seeing you
- 1:21:19Speaker 13: though it's only two weeks. About right, people steps, enough
- 1:21:23Speaker 13: kitson boogie, you see back home, coming back and doing well.
- 1:21:27Speaker 13: Just about of these folks just like you know, making plays.
- 1:21:31Speaker 13: So I care less about really who makes it, just
- 1:21:33Speaker 13: who's the best for the team. Obviously that's the whole
- 1:21:35Speaker 13: point of this thing. But I was getting in my
- 1:21:37Speaker 13: head about this guy needs to make it or fix
- 1:21:39Speaker 13: closest pickures, just pick the best f the step and
- 1:21:41Speaker 13: that really gets kicking made and the offensive and opportunity
- 1:21:44Speaker 13: to elevate. Those were really nice seeing that. So my
- 1:21:47Speaker 13: fortune is if you had to hole, uh six receivers
- 1:21:52Speaker 13: versus steven, what would you do based on you what
- 1:21:55Speaker 13: you've seen? If you do hold step in what one
- 1:21:57Speaker 13: position are you like cutting something like this, defensive line,
- 1:22:01Speaker 13: offensive line, whatever it may be?
- 1:22:04Speaker 4: All right, thanks Domini.
- 1:22:05Speaker 5: Yeah, uh, I think we've all I don't want to
- 1:22:08Speaker 5: speak for everybody, but I feel like everybody I've talked
- 1:22:11Speaker 5: to is kind of settled on the five receivers of Diggs, Douglas, Booty, Hollins,
- 1:22:17Speaker 5: Kyle Williams, as like that group is going to be here,
- 1:22:21Speaker 5: and then it's just the floater of like are they
- 1:22:23Speaker 5: going to keep a sixth guy? Are they not going
- 1:22:24Speaker 5: to keep a sixth guy?
- 1:22:26Speaker 4: I don't.
- 1:22:27Speaker 5: I think seven is like pretty I would keep five
- 1:22:31Speaker 5: unrealistic five that you just mentioned right, like that is
- 1:22:34Speaker 5: the five that's that are here. I think pretty safely.
- 1:22:37Speaker 5: The question is is do you want to carry a
- 1:22:39Speaker 5: sixth receiver out of some of the young guys, like
- 1:22:42Speaker 5: one of the second year guys or Efton Chisholm, or
- 1:22:45Speaker 5: just a developmental player as the sixth guy that you're
- 1:22:49Speaker 5: not your little concern isn't going to make it through
- 1:22:51Speaker 5: waivers and get to the practice squad. So you put
- 1:22:54Speaker 5: Javon Baker on the roster, you know, just the you know,
- 1:22:59Speaker 5: maintain in control over him.
- 1:23:01Speaker 9: I wonder about that with Polk and Baker. Is you know,
- 1:23:03Speaker 9: Baker lower round draft pick.
- 1:23:05Speaker 6: I think Paul you said maybe show like maybe there's
- 1:23:07Speaker 6: still somebody out there with Polk is the second round pick.
- 1:23:09Speaker 9: If he were to get you know, he'd probably be
- 1:23:11Speaker 9: tough to get him through.
- 1:23:12Speaker 6: But nothing I've seen out of those two guys so
- 1:23:14Speaker 6: far has made me say in camp that they have
- 1:23:17Speaker 6: to keep these guys around.
- 1:23:18Speaker 9: I was curious, though, what did you guys think?
- 1:23:20Speaker 6: Because I saw, you know, Javon Baker caught that touchdown
- 1:23:23Speaker 6: yesterday and he launched the ball into the sky.
- 1:23:25Speaker 9: Did that bother you guys? I?
- 1:23:26Speaker 5: I didn't really. I saw Mike kind of like that
- 1:23:30Speaker 5: would bother you because you didn't like digs.
- 1:23:34Speaker 8: I don't want to.
- 1:23:37Speaker 4: Between launching it and the sky or spiking, because.
- 1:23:40Speaker 7: The launching in this guy is considered like a delay
- 1:23:42Speaker 7: of game kind of taunting to come down apparently. But
- 1:23:46Speaker 7: gravity I don't. I don't make it's I don't. I
- 1:23:50Speaker 7: don't make the rules. I don't like the rules. I
- 1:23:52Speaker 7: like fun. You guys don't. I like fun. I like celebrations,
- 1:23:55Speaker 7: So I have no problem with what Javon Baker did.
- 1:23:57Speaker 4: I have no problem.
- 1:23:58Speaker 7: There's definitely it's better. Actually, Sean Hoculey's crew was here yesterday.
- 1:24:03Speaker 7: That would be something I think would be.
- 1:24:05Speaker 4: If you spike the ball, it can go anywhere.
- 1:24:07Speaker 7: It doesn't go anywhere near where the ball went. When
- 1:24:10Speaker 7: Javon Baker threw it yesterday, I'm.
- 1:24:11Speaker 5: Pretty sure one of the linemen caught it running over.
- 1:24:14Speaker 7: Over shoulder, Yeah, which was kind of I have no
- 1:24:19Speaker 7: problem with that, you guys, I mean, I'm being dead serious,
- 1:24:22Speaker 7: I have no I like celebrations. I like I kind
- 1:24:24Speaker 7: of like taunting. I think it's fun.
- 1:24:26Speaker 4: I've seen guys launching into the stands. They don't get penalized.
- 1:24:29Speaker 7: Oh yes you do.
- 1:24:30Speaker 5: That's a fine.
- 1:24:33Speaker 4: Afterwards, but not during the game. It's not a penalty.
- 1:24:36Speaker 7: I believe it is.
- 1:24:37Speaker 4: I don't think so.
- 1:24:38Speaker 10: I think if it wasn't Javon too, and it was
- 1:24:40Speaker 10: someone maybe more established, people wouldn't have as big of
- 1:24:43Speaker 10: an issue with it.
- 1:24:44Speaker 7: I don't think they were.
- 1:24:45Speaker 9: I didn't a lot of issue with I just I
- 1:24:49Speaker 9: think somebody issue.
- 1:24:51Speaker 7: It's like when the defense picks off a pass and
- 1:24:55Speaker 7: went down in the end zone, they take a picture
- 1:24:57Speaker 7: of that's not here not do not care for that.
- 1:25:01Speaker 6: Although I will say I like it all in the
- 1:25:03Speaker 6: in stadium practice, I liked the little choreographed, little little
- 1:25:06Speaker 6: conga line that going.
- 1:25:08Speaker 4: I didn't like that that.
- 1:25:11Speaker 7: I like it all. I think it's fun. I think
- 1:25:12Speaker 7: the game it's a game and it should be fun.
- 1:25:14Speaker 9: I wasn't.
- 1:25:15Speaker 6: I wasn't bring it up, you know, joking aside like that.
- 1:25:17Speaker 6: It didn't really in the moment bother me. But then
- 1:25:20Speaker 6: you know, I saw some some stuff online of people
- 1:25:22Speaker 6: talking about it, and then I just was bringing up
- 1:25:24Speaker 6: for discussion because I'm like, is this what he needs?
- 1:25:27Speaker 9: Like you know what I mean? Does he need to
- 1:25:28Speaker 9: be like I need to really be on the straight
- 1:25:30Speaker 9: and narrow right now?
- 1:25:30Speaker 6: Because even in O t A S there was that
- 1:25:32Speaker 6: you know moment where he caught a ball and he
- 1:25:34Speaker 6: kind of jogged back and Rabel was like, let's go,
- 1:25:37Speaker 6: you know, was on top of him.
- 1:25:38Speaker 7: That's different. This was a touchdown, right, yeah, So I
- 1:25:41Speaker 7: have no problem with it a touchdown.
- 1:25:44Speaker 3: To celebrate their touchdowns.
- 1:25:45Speaker 9: Yeah, I just come up with.
- 1:25:46Speaker 5: A different celebration. That's not a penalty.
- 1:25:49Speaker 7: Again, I don't know they didn't. I don't think anybody
- 1:25:52Speaker 7: threw a flag yesterday, so there were officials here. So
- 1:25:55Speaker 7: if they didn't flag it, maybe it's not a penalty.
- 1:25:57Speaker 6: Maybe maybe friends, somebody who's a little bit on double
- 1:26:00Speaker 6: secret probation and you.
- 1:26:01Speaker 7: Know, you just not maybe not.
- 1:26:04Speaker 9: I'm not saying.
- 1:26:05Speaker 3: That's what I'm saying.
- 1:26:06Speaker 10: Like if it was someone that was more established, not
- 1:26:09Speaker 10: trying to make the MAC again, maybe it was just
- 1:26:12Speaker 10: like that release of emotion for him and he's happy
- 1:26:14Speaker 10: to make a play.
- 1:26:15Speaker 3: There's a lot on the line for him.
- 1:26:16Speaker 9: Yeah, I don't know.
- 1:26:17Speaker 5: So if you had to, if you had, if you
- 1:26:21Speaker 5: had to pick, it would because of his uniqueness in
- 1:26:24Speaker 5: the room. Like I feel like if they were to
- 1:26:26Speaker 5: keep a Chisholm or a Pole, I just don't see
- 1:26:29Speaker 5: a path to that player having a role. Whereas with
- 1:26:32Speaker 5: Jaymon Baker, you could make the case that if Booty's
- 1:26:35Speaker 5: not really having a great season or it doesn't go
- 1:26:38Speaker 5: well for Booty for and I'm not saying it won't,
- 1:26:40Speaker 5: but just for whatever reason, he gets hurt something like
- 1:26:43Speaker 5: I could see Javon Baker playing the X and like
- 1:26:47Speaker 5: being out there, whereas with Jalen Polk, he's behind Digs,
- 1:26:50Speaker 5: he's behind Pop, he's probably behind Kyle Williams for a role,
- 1:26:54Speaker 5: like there's there's just bodies in front of him, and
- 1:26:56Speaker 5: that's not even counting if Kendrick Bourne is here. So like,
- 1:26:59Speaker 5: it's just it's harder for me to envision a role
- 1:27:01Speaker 5: for Polk and for Chisholm because they're redundant to some
- 1:27:05Speaker 5: of the other guys they have on the team.
- 1:27:07Speaker 4: Baker isn't well, why do softball? Why is it played
- 1:27:12Speaker 4: on all dirt infields? And baseball has some grass?
- 1:27:15Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 1:27:17Speaker 9: I don't know what they what do they call it softball?
- 1:27:19Speaker 4: The ball is just as hard as it's a little softer,
- 1:27:22Speaker 4: a little bit softer. But is it so soft that
- 1:27:24Speaker 4: you can just well, there's white softballs and there's yellow softballs.
- 1:27:28Speaker 4: Did you know that?
- 1:27:29Speaker 9: And there's a difference between how hard they are.
- 1:27:32Speaker 19: Yeah, according to the Google, it allows the ball to
- 1:27:34Speaker 19: travel faster and makes the game more offensive.
- 1:27:37Speaker 4: I okay, I can see that the grass would slow
- 1:27:41Speaker 4: down the big softball. Okay, all right, I can see that.
- 1:27:44Speaker 4: Thank you for that. Let's go to the hot line.
- 1:27:50Speaker 4: Who John and Haveril? What's up John?
- 1:27:55Speaker 7: John?
- 1:27:56Speaker 4: There you go?
- 1:27:58Speaker 11: Talk?
- 1:27:59Speaker 4: All right?
- 1:28:00Speaker 14: So I have to say one two days school, just
- 1:28:02Speaker 14: get out.
- 1:28:03Speaker 4: Of something summer summer Fred, Okay, but go ahead, John,
- 1:28:07Speaker 4: I'm sorry.
- 1:28:10Speaker 21: Yeah, a top five cornerback in my opinion.
- 1:28:14Speaker 7: Let's go.
- 1:28:16Speaker 6: I would agree, play your flag, John Boom.
- 1:28:21Speaker 7: I think he finished.
- 1:28:24Speaker 11: Okay, I love it.
- 1:28:25Speaker 7: I think they had a poll back and all that
- 1:28:28Speaker 7: stuff on the SPN and he was sixth and that.
- 1:28:30Speaker 7: So yeah, Top five just called it and waited just
- 1:28:34Speaker 7: to say, just to get the younger Fred. I know, well,
- 1:28:39Speaker 7: it's unbelievable.
- 1:28:40Speaker 4: I think John was just the best call I ever
- 1:28:41Speaker 4: heard on Felgar's show. Was the guy calls and he goes, Hi,
- 1:28:44Speaker 4: it's Bob, first time, long time. I'll hang up and listen.
- 1:28:50Speaker 9: That's good.
- 1:28:51Speaker 7: Poor bar.
- 1:28:52Speaker 5: Yesterday, I'm getting attacked about like just joint practices, like
- 1:28:57Speaker 5: he just flnger just yelled.
- 1:28:59Speaker 7: Well that's what he's It was like who are you
- 1:29:01Speaker 7: yelling at? Like why are you so angry?
- 1:29:04Speaker 4: And he was on a rant yesterday that one of
- 1:29:07Speaker 4: the best products the Patriots have had was this joint practice,
- 1:29:10Speaker 4: which is absolutely free and then you have the preseason,
- 1:29:14Speaker 4: which is a dog that you have to pay, you know,
- 1:29:18Speaker 4: so what are you gonna do?
- 1:29:20Speaker 7: But like but like, no, how do you fix it?
- 1:29:21Speaker 8: Mike?
- 1:29:22Speaker 5: I feel like everybody understands his thinking there, but he's
- 1:29:27Speaker 5: like yelling at me, like I'm disagreeing with him or
- 1:29:31Speaker 5: like his other big take was was that like it's
- 1:29:33Speaker 5: all you know, basically, it's all on Drake May. If
- 1:29:35Speaker 5: Drake May is good, the Patriots will be good. If
- 1:29:37Speaker 5: he's like, yeah, we.
- 1:29:38Speaker 7: We know, Like how do you argue that it's going
- 1:29:42Speaker 7: to be awfully hard to be a really good team
- 1:29:44Speaker 7: if your quarterback is bad?
- 1:29:46Speaker 3: Right?
- 1:29:46Speaker 7: How do you argue with that point of view?
- 1:29:48Speaker 9: Is like, well, I have the times on the paying
- 1:29:50Speaker 9: times on the punts.
- 1:29:51Speaker 10: If you want it, Mike, you should run an experiment
- 1:29:53Speaker 10: with Barth where we get his like blood pressure metrics.
- 1:29:56Speaker 3: Before and immediately after the show, they.
- 1:29:58Speaker 5: Were talking about like who would you you rather have
- 1:30:00Speaker 5: for the next like if you're drafting Jayden Daniels or
- 1:30:05Speaker 5: or Drake May, and like they're like he's grilling bars
- 1:30:08Speaker 5: like give me an answer, give me an answer. And
- 1:30:09Speaker 5: I was like he's trying to talk and you just
- 1:30:12Speaker 5: get Hilton.
- 1:30:13Speaker 7: Adam, he's a bully.
- 1:30:15Speaker 4: Bully.
- 1:30:16Speaker 6: I just tell you, you know I spend I want
- 1:30:20Speaker 6: Barth pressure during like you know punts. I want it
- 1:30:22Speaker 6: during attendance at practice.
- 1:30:24Speaker 9: I want pressure, want pressure show.
- 1:30:28Speaker 3: The whole time and intervals track them.
- 1:30:31Speaker 4: I still think we gotta have a electric football game
- 1:30:34Speaker 4: between Evan and Barth, and we should have steaks. So
- 1:30:40Speaker 4: like win you win. If you win, you get one
- 1:30:42Speaker 4: hundred dollars gift certificate to Jersey Mike. If Bart wins,
- 1:30:46Speaker 4: he gets something college football.
- 1:30:49Speaker 3: Or something, you know, match Maker series.
- 1:30:52Speaker 5: So if you're talking, you're talking about Madden right like
- 1:30:54Speaker 5: electric No no, no, no, no no.
- 1:30:56Speaker 4: I'm talking about the little guys on the I don't think.
- 1:30:59Speaker 9: Every magnetic chaos that has you turn it on?
- 1:31:02Speaker 4: And do you know I've got one in my office.
- 1:31:06Speaker 5: I've seen this in your Office's like that's the first
- 1:31:08Speaker 5: time I've ever seen.
- 1:31:09Speaker 7: Have you ever had an old AFL NFL one?
- 1:31:12Speaker 4: Have you ever done it?
- 1:31:13Speaker 5: I don't think.
- 1:31:14Speaker 4: I think the two that is this like.
- 1:31:19Speaker 7: Hockey game is actually excell So this.
- 1:31:21Speaker 4: Is an electric this is it's a playing field, it's
- 1:31:24Speaker 4: metal and these are little plastic guys with treads and
- 1:31:27Speaker 4: you set up your offense and you set up your
- 1:31:30Speaker 4: defense on it, and then you turn the switch and the.
- 1:31:33Speaker 7: Boards starts rates and it causes the players and.
- 1:31:36Speaker 6: The players move, but not in the position you want
- 1:31:38Speaker 6: them to. Why you would hate I set them up
- 1:31:41Speaker 6: and cover two and then ever.
- 1:31:42Speaker 7: Charges I just perfectly designed the annexation of Puerto Rico
- 1:31:47Speaker 7: and they went.
- 1:31:50Speaker 4: Every player just goes like little treads are supposed to
- 1:31:54Speaker 4: be positioned in the in the direction you want the
- 1:31:57Speaker 4: guy to usually go, yeah, you get guys on the sideline.
- 1:32:03Speaker 6: So this was a bit that me, me and FITZI
- 1:32:05Speaker 6: used to do in one of our shows that we
- 1:32:07Speaker 6: did before we worked here. We would do we would
- 1:32:09Speaker 6: take like a key pave play from the game and
- 1:32:11Speaker 6: we would like Evan style, set it all up so
- 1:32:13Speaker 6: like it was literally look pre.
- 1:32:15Speaker 9: Snap and I'm like and now you know, and then
- 1:32:16Speaker 9: we'd subscribe it what happened?
- 1:32:18Speaker 6: Why I was playing all right, let's just let the
- 1:32:19Speaker 6: board on roll and see how the play went, and
- 1:32:21Speaker 6: then it would just be total chaos and nothing that
- 1:32:23Speaker 6: we talked about happened would happen.
- 1:32:27Speaker 4: That's why it would be so fun.
- 1:32:29Speaker 9: Where are you going, bro?
- 1:32:30Speaker 7: Where are you going you run a post you're on
- 1:32:33Speaker 7: the post man.
- 1:32:34Speaker 9: It's just going to the sideline and then falls over.
- 1:32:36Speaker 4: I think we do that during a catch twenty two.
- 1:32:38Speaker 4: One of the catch twenty two is we'll do that.
- 1:32:42Speaker 9: I know, I got one in my artist I got
- 1:32:44Speaker 9: one in my house too. We have the artifact to
- 1:32:47Speaker 9: buy it for the segment.
- 1:32:48Speaker 19: You know.
- 1:32:48Speaker 9: I was during the T shirt days I had money to.
- 1:32:50Speaker 7: Burn, thought that well, I wrote it off.
- 1:32:58Speaker 5: I mean, Madden has new uh intros into the game
- 1:33:01Speaker 5: now for night games. If you have a primetime game,
- 1:33:04Speaker 5: it has like this whole little animation that it does
- 1:33:07Speaker 5: and uh it has the Keeper of the Light has
- 1:33:09Speaker 5: the ringing the bell, and it's Gronk Gronk up on
- 1:33:14Speaker 5: the top of the lighthouse doing his Gronk thing where
- 1:33:17Speaker 5: he's like things and stuff, and it like kind of
- 1:33:22Speaker 5: looks like Gronk, but like not really. But Bart tweeted
- 1:33:26Speaker 5: it out and was like, you can even have Gronk
- 1:33:29Speaker 5: through it, and everybody's like, yeah, it's that's Gronk. He's
- 1:33:31Speaker 5: in the video and and but it I thought the
- 1:33:35Speaker 5: same thing, Yeah, get paid for that. Probably it's just
- 1:33:39Speaker 5: his likeness, Like yeah, they mean it just enough.
- 1:33:44Speaker 3: Like him, but not.
- 1:33:45Speaker 5: It's not great. Like I feel like when Gronk was
- 1:33:48Speaker 5: actually in the game, like as a player, he looked
- 1:33:50Speaker 5: more like Gronk than he does in the animation.
- 1:33:52Speaker 4: But Cody's in New Hampshire. Hey Cody, my first time,
- 1:34:00Speaker 4: the first time.
- 1:34:02Speaker 21: Yeah, I just wanted to say, I am a lot
- 1:34:04Speaker 21: of props. The's like fourteen year fourteen year olds calling
- 1:34:07Speaker 21: him because kind of nervous talking to you guys, do
- 1:34:10Speaker 21: it like you recently? But anyway, quick question on U
- 1:34:14Speaker 21: on Booty, does it feel like he's.
- 1:34:16Speaker 20: Kind of becoming a lock?
- 1:34:17Speaker 21: I know he's like not very like exciting one of
- 1:34:21Speaker 21: the up and coming receivers, but it's like last year
- 1:34:24Speaker 21: and his confidence building with Trick May, it just feels
- 1:34:26Speaker 21: like he's kind of important.
- 1:34:28Speaker 5: Yep, he's a lot I think you think so yeah,
- 1:34:31Speaker 5: always a lock.
- 1:34:32Speaker 9: Oh yeah ye.
- 1:34:33Speaker 5: But I still look at that spot though, and like
- 1:34:35Speaker 5: think that they could upgrade it, like not to go
- 1:34:38Speaker 5: pick on Booty, like eventually he's like he's a fine players.
- 1:34:41Speaker 5: But you know, Douglas and Diggs, I think I really like,
- 1:34:46Speaker 5: you know the X spot.
- 1:34:47Speaker 6: I'm so old, right, and I see that as like
- 1:34:49Speaker 6: you're gonna get a little mc collins there, you're gonna
- 1:34:51Speaker 6: get hopefully little Kyle Williams there, and then maybe eventually
- 1:34:54Speaker 6: one of.
- 1:34:54Speaker 9: Those guys really emerges to be the threat that they need.
- 1:34:57Speaker 9: But yeah, he's a lot baby.
- 1:34:58Speaker 4: All right, Thanks Cody, U go down to Pennsylvania, Joe,
- 1:35:03Speaker 4: what's up?
- 1:35:03Speaker 7: Joe?
- 1:35:05Speaker 20: Hey, guys, thanks for taking my call of the show. Uh,
- 1:35:09Speaker 20: this would probably be like a lot for Evans just
- 1:35:11Speaker 20: for their some number stuff I have, but everybody get
- 1:35:14Speaker 20: everybody's opinion, But just about the cap and like cutting
- 1:35:18Speaker 20: some guys and even some cat for next year, and
- 1:35:21Speaker 20: just looking at over the cap, like we're fifteen MILLI
- 1:35:24Speaker 20: under the cat for next year. I know we're sitting
- 1:35:26Speaker 20: at like sixty right now, but looking at guys like
- 1:35:30Speaker 20: Kendrick Bourn, we could save six point three million by
- 1:35:33Speaker 20: cutting up. I love Born, but that's six point three
- 1:35:35Speaker 20: million we could save. And here's four guys we to
- 1:35:38Speaker 20: save fifteen million on by cutting Born, to Buy Low
- 1:35:44Speaker 20: and Jennings we could save nearly fifteen million there, Like
- 1:35:47Speaker 20: Low is like three point four million, to Buy is
- 1:35:50Speaker 20: like two million, and Jennings is like three million. So
- 1:35:55Speaker 20: that's good money we could save by cutting those those
- 1:35:57Speaker 20: guys don't seem like they have a big role this year. Ways,
- 1:36:01Speaker 20: but then also too going even going forward to next year,
- 1:36:04Speaker 20: and like just with Vrabel and like his front office,
- 1:36:07Speaker 20: how is he going to view a Whinning's contract, Dougars
- 1:36:11Speaker 20: contract and Barmore's contract because they're all in like big
- 1:36:17Speaker 20: they all have big outs for next year, and especially
- 1:36:21Speaker 20: with US, uh, just where we're at cap white next
- 1:36:24Speaker 20: year and those big outs, where do you think that
- 1:36:26Speaker 20: they'll view those players? But then also to two other.
- 1:36:29Speaker 7: Side, can I ask you something before you continue, Joe,
- 1:36:32Speaker 7: what are you projecting the cap at next year that
- 1:36:34Speaker 7: you have them only fifteen million under the cap? They're
- 1:36:37Speaker 7: fifteen million under the current cap.
- 1:36:39Speaker 20: Oh yeah, I'm not taking into all those accounts too.
- 1:36:41Speaker 20: But then right, we gotta like sign, we gotta sign
- 1:36:44Speaker 20: the draft.
- 1:36:45Speaker 7: I have no problem, no, but like the cap is
- 1:36:49Speaker 7: going to rise, Like.
- 1:36:51Speaker 20: Oh yeah, I know that, but I'm just looking at
- 1:36:53Speaker 20: over the.
- 1:36:54Speaker 7: Cap just yeah, you don't have to. I mean, I
- 1:36:55Speaker 7: just think you're you're spending a lot of time worrying
- 1:36:57Speaker 7: about things that I don't think are overly important, Like
- 1:37:00Speaker 7: the cap is not an issue for really any team,
- 1:37:03Speaker 7: Like the cap is so big now and it's growing
- 1:37:06Speaker 7: so much every year. Like the bigger thing that I
- 1:37:09Speaker 7: think that you're that you hit on that I that
- 1:37:11Speaker 7: I really think might be something that they're thinking about
- 1:37:15Speaker 7: is guys like Kyle Dugert and mikel Wentu for next year.
- 1:37:19Speaker 7: These are guys that signed big money extensions under a
- 1:37:22Speaker 7: previous regime, and in general terms, those are guys that
- 1:37:26Speaker 7: need to be sort of on alert, and I think
- 1:37:31Speaker 7: it's a big year for both of those guys. They
- 1:37:33Speaker 7: need to play well. Barmore I don't think is going anywhere.
- 1:37:36Speaker 7: I think Barbo is one of the five best players
- 1:37:38Speaker 7: in the team. I don't think he's going anywhere unless
- 1:37:40Speaker 7: something happens with you. No, yeah he didn't. You just
- 1:37:45Speaker 7: sign one so yeah four year. Yeah. So I think
- 1:37:52Speaker 7: I don't worry. If you can do whatever you want
- 1:37:55Speaker 7: with your thoughts about the CAP, I wouldn't really worry
- 1:37:59Speaker 7: about the cap. I don't think cap is a problem
- 1:38:01Speaker 7: or anybody like. I don't think you need to worry
- 1:38:04Speaker 7: about that number because the CAP number is too big.
- 1:38:06Speaker 7: Like maybe maybe you do something to lower the number
- 1:38:09Speaker 7: in the but you know, I don't. I just don't
- 1:38:12Speaker 7: think it's all that important. Yeah, I don't know.
- 1:38:14Speaker 5: How exactly over the cap like calculates their their numbers
- 1:38:19Speaker 5: with rollover because like the Patriots right now are sixty
- 1:38:23Speaker 5: million dollars under the current salary cap.
- 1:38:25Speaker 7: And they spent the most money in an offseason in
- 1:38:28Speaker 7: NFL history right now, they tells you about the cap.
- 1:38:30Speaker 5: They have expenditures over the over the course of the
- 1:38:33Speaker 5: regular season, that are their effective caps pace with the
- 1:38:36Speaker 5: cap space we project that they're going to roll over
- 1:38:38Speaker 5: is about thirty five million dollars, So if you really
- 1:38:42Speaker 5: look at it, that's rolling it over into next year.
- 1:38:45Speaker 5: And then to Paul's point, the cap is going to
- 1:38:47Speaker 5: rise because it's always rising. So let's say it rises
- 1:38:50Speaker 5: by another ten million, that's really rolling over forty five
- 1:38:54Speaker 5: million dollars in cap space. So their cap is they
- 1:38:58Speaker 5: have all the money in the world if you even
- 1:39:00Speaker 5: if you just say that we're going to spend to
- 1:39:02Speaker 5: the cap and they're not going to go over the cap, like,
- 1:39:04Speaker 5: they still have plenty of cap space to play with,
- 1:39:06Speaker 5: Like they shouldn't if they want to cut like and
- 1:39:09Speaker 5: move on from like a tabay Ra Jennings because they're
- 1:39:11Speaker 5: not fits and they're not like I would agree with
- 1:39:14Speaker 5: all for those guys, but that's that's totally a valid
- 1:39:19Speaker 5: thing to say.
- 1:39:20Speaker 7: They're not doing it because of the salary cap.
- 1:39:22Speaker 4: To Paul's point, Thanks Joe, appreciate the car.
- 1:39:25Speaker 7: I mean, Tava's the only one out of those four
- 1:39:27Speaker 7: guys that he mentioned that I can say, well, maybe
- 1:39:29Speaker 7: he's the starter next to Spolene, but he's been hurt
- 1:39:32Speaker 7: and we've seen Christian Ellis.
- 1:39:33Speaker 9: I was going to say, I don't think.
- 1:39:35Speaker 7: Yeah, I don't know.
- 1:39:35Speaker 9: Heap is a little bit of a question mark for me,
- 1:39:38Speaker 9: and it could go either way.
- 1:39:39Speaker 6: It could be he doesn't fit or he's actually a
- 1:39:41Speaker 6: great versatile, big bodied option to put next to Splene.
- 1:39:45Speaker 6: You know, we can still use ls a little bit,
- 1:39:47Speaker 6: but that's one thing I would still hold out for.
- 1:39:49Speaker 6: But you know, just real quick looking at the roster,
- 1:39:51Speaker 6: you know, next year, and I mean this is all
- 1:39:53Speaker 6: why are we doing it?
- 1:39:53Speaker 9: Because we're getting ready for a season.
- 1:39:55Speaker 6: But I mean there's not a lot of like glaring
- 1:39:57Speaker 6: holes right now of like well they're going to mean
- 1:39:59Speaker 6: they probably gonna have have to figure out Christian Gonzalez
- 1:40:01Speaker 6: at some point. I mean, that would be a nice
- 1:40:02Speaker 6: big piece that they could take care of, But I mean,
- 1:40:05Speaker 6: for the most part what we've seen from the starters
- 1:40:08Speaker 6: out there this year, all these guys are kind of
- 1:40:10Speaker 6: back next year.
- 1:40:11Speaker 7: So you know, it's not like you're right about Gonzales
- 1:40:13Speaker 7: and what just happened with Stingley and Sauce, Like those
- 1:40:17Speaker 7: are the guys that came up signed big money deals
- 1:40:20Speaker 7: after the third year, right in Sauce's case, So you're
- 1:40:24Speaker 7: going to be after year three for Gonzales, my guess
- 1:40:27Speaker 7: would be that him and his representatives are going to
- 1:40:29Speaker 7: be looking to do the same thing. Now it's going
- 1:40:31Speaker 7: to cost you a lot of money.
- 1:40:32Speaker 5: Well yes and no, because it will be an extension
- 1:40:35Speaker 5: on his rookie contract. So if you sign him next offseason,
- 1:40:40Speaker 5: after his third season in the league, when he's eligible,
- 1:40:42Speaker 5: he's still going to be playing in twenty six on
- 1:40:44Speaker 5: the fourth year of his rookie contract.
- 1:40:45Speaker 7: Which is why I don't worry about the cat.
- 1:40:47Speaker 5: And then you get extension eligible after that.
- 1:40:49Speaker 7: Yep.
- 1:40:49Speaker 5: But good to that point, Like what the Cowboys are
- 1:40:54Speaker 5: having right now with Micah Parsons is because.
- 1:40:56Speaker 7: They've waited because they don't do it the right way.
- 1:40:58Speaker 5: So if you're the Patriot, the Micah Parsons thing is like, hey,
- 1:41:03Speaker 5: what's the word like cautioned into the wind, thank you,
- 1:41:07Speaker 5: cautionary tale of like, don't do that right with Christian
- 1:41:12Speaker 5: Gonzalez when he's contract eligible, extension eligible next offseason, lock
- 1:41:18Speaker 5: him in immediately and don't get into this whole dance
- 1:41:21Speaker 5: of you know, end of the year of his rookie
- 1:41:24Speaker 5: contract like the Cowboys have with Parsons, because like I
- 1:41:28Speaker 5: think the tough talk part for teams and like owners
- 1:41:31Speaker 5: like Jerry Jones is like, you have the fifth year
- 1:41:33Speaker 5: option on a first round pick and then you have
- 1:41:35Speaker 5: the franchise tag in your back pocket too. So like
- 1:41:39Speaker 5: really for a team like Dallas, they're looking at it
- 1:41:42Speaker 5: and saying, well, we have two year more years of
- 1:41:44Speaker 5: team control on Michael Parsons, So like, why are we
- 1:41:46Speaker 5: baking the bank, breaking the bank right now to extend MICHAEH.
- 1:41:50Speaker 5: Parsons when we have the leverage like he's under contract,
- 1:41:53Speaker 5: we have the fifth year option, and we have the
- 1:41:55Speaker 5: franchise tag. So this is a three years from now.
- 1:41:58Speaker 5: Problem with Michael Parsons was.
- 1:42:00Speaker 4: You know, wait three years and it's it's gonna cost more,
- 1:42:04Speaker 4: That's what I'm saying.
- 1:42:05Speaker 5: But I can understand.
- 1:42:08Speaker 7: You know, they did the same thing last year and
- 1:42:09Speaker 7: then they finally gave him the contract. But they that's
- 1:42:12Speaker 7: the way Dallas has been doing it. They dragged their feet,
- 1:42:14Speaker 7: and I think it costs some money in the long run.
- 1:42:16Speaker 6: Quick, I mean, just a quick look at the free
- 1:42:18Speaker 6: agents next year. Do Austin Hooper, you know, t E
- 1:42:21Speaker 6: two probably a position of long term need. Chase On's
- 1:42:23Speaker 6: had a good camp, he's been hurt. Marcus Jones really
- 1:42:26Speaker 6: the only starter I would say of the free agents
- 1:42:30Speaker 6: next year. I mean, Alex Austin's a restrictive free agent,
- 1:42:32Speaker 6: but you know, Cold Strange, Tonga, Epps, Hawkins, Gibbons, Low.
- 1:42:38Speaker 9: It's a lot of depth pieces.
- 1:42:40Speaker 7: So like we talked about Low, by the way, that
- 1:42:43Speaker 7: was one of his four. Those four, Yeah, I think
- 1:42:46Speaker 7: they might be something. Some of these things, like he said,
- 1:42:48Speaker 7: like I don't I don't feel great about the backup tackle, right.
- 1:42:50Speaker 6: You don't need to really plan it out. I mean,
- 1:42:52Speaker 6: I think a lot of these things will take care
- 1:42:53Speaker 6: of itself at cutdown day. And it's not about well,
- 1:42:55Speaker 6: let's just cut them for money. I mean a lot
- 1:42:57Speaker 6: of these guys are are on the bubble anyway.
- 1:42:59Speaker 7: As it is, We'll just say, and I am starting
- 1:43:01Speaker 7: to get a little intrigued by Marcus Bryant and I
- 1:43:03Speaker 7: was colon in those things, So maybe maybe he would
- 1:43:08Speaker 7: make a guy like low expendable.
- 1:43:09Speaker 9: It seems like more guys. I don't know how to
- 1:43:12Speaker 9: say this.
- 1:43:12Speaker 6: I just like seeing guys improve, and I think he's
- 1:43:15Speaker 6: a great example of somebody who you see get more
- 1:43:17Speaker 6: reps and you start to clock a little bit more.
- 1:43:19Speaker 6: We talk about it all the time, and it's at
- 1:43:21Speaker 6: a position need now, is it because he's playing great
- 1:43:24Speaker 6: or because they're like, it's because it's.
- 1:43:27Speaker 8: Not that, you know? Is it?
- 1:43:29Speaker 6: Is it about We're an import in a storm right now.
- 1:43:32Speaker 6: We're trying to figure out, you know, if we get
- 1:43:34Speaker 6: this guy possibly ready to play.
- 1:43:35Speaker 5: It the only a salary cap related thing that's like
- 1:43:39Speaker 5: somewhat on my mind because I'm a nerd and think
- 1:43:41Speaker 5: about these things. At some point, we're going to have
- 1:43:45Speaker 5: to talk seriously about a Drake May extension. And when
- 1:43:49Speaker 5: that happens, he's going to be a sixty million dollars
- 1:43:52Speaker 5: a year quarterback.
- 1:43:53Speaker 7: But that's two years.
- 1:43:55Speaker 5: It's two years.
- 1:43:55Speaker 9: But it's just like Gonzo next year.
- 1:43:57Speaker 5: When it comes to we all know, money in and
- 1:44:01Speaker 5: money out. We're having that conversation like sooner than you
- 1:44:05Speaker 5: think end of next season, yeah right.
- 1:44:08Speaker 7: And when that next season, yeah right, when his extension
- 1:44:11Speaker 7: three years in.
- 1:44:13Speaker 5: Yeah, when his extension kicks in and he's now a
- 1:44:16Speaker 5: sixty million dollars a year quarterback, then some of this
- 1:44:19Speaker 5: stuff does start to matter, like how you spend around
- 1:44:22Speaker 5: that quarterback contract. Now you have the quarterback, so that's
- 1:44:26Speaker 5: obviously a huge bonus. But even like Kansas City has
- 1:44:31Speaker 5: made moves like trading Tyreek Hill too because they're cheap, possibly,
- 1:44:37Speaker 5: but we know that that's that's how the world works,
- 1:44:40Speaker 5: so like when we get into that territory, that's a difference.
- 1:44:44Speaker 8: By the way.
- 1:44:44Speaker 4: Congratulations Roman Anthony, I love it for a long time. Yep.
- 1:44:53Speaker 4: Red Sox building for the future.
- 1:44:55Speaker 7: You congratulate John Henry. It's a tremendous contract for the
- 1:44:58Speaker 7: Red Sox. That's tremendous for both to get that guy
- 1:45:01Speaker 7: for one hundred and thirty million. Were you surprised he
- 1:45:03Speaker 7: was willing to pay, especially when in spring training he
- 1:45:07Speaker 7: was not willing to play ball. And the only thing
- 1:45:10Speaker 7: that has changed since spring training is he's proven to
- 1:45:12Speaker 7: be legit.
- 1:45:13Speaker 9: Right, right, more money.
- 1:45:15Speaker 7: I was completely stunned that he took that deal. Good,
- 1:45:18Speaker 7: good for him, great for the Reds.
- 1:45:20Speaker 9: At some point, it feels just sounds like so money
- 1:45:22Speaker 9: and much money. You're like, well, you should really be
- 1:45:24Speaker 9: hold well, I.
- 1:45:24Speaker 7: Think that's played a year of the year. He would
- 1:45:27Speaker 7: have gotten a lot more than that.
- 1:45:28Speaker 5: Right, This is a twenty two to twenty three year
- 1:45:30Speaker 5: old kid that just got handed a check for one
- 1:45:32Speaker 5: hundred million dollars. Right, it's pretty hard to say.
- 1:45:35Speaker 4: I'm gonna hold out for ye like one hundred million
- 1:45:39Speaker 4: dollars priority A right for him? Good kid, good kid,
- 1:45:42Speaker 4: quick rights in could tomorrow also be a wide receiver
- 1:45:48Speaker 4: showcase if the Patriots show a lot of born Pope,
- 1:45:51Speaker 4: Baker or Booty to give Washington some looks of possible
- 1:45:54Speaker 4: trade candidates.
- 1:45:57Speaker 6: I mean, I mean I would protect Tiggs. I think
- 1:46:02Speaker 6: he saw enough of him yesterday. I probably protect Pop too.
- 1:46:04Speaker 6: I've seen enough of him. I don't really think, but
- 1:46:06Speaker 6: I think as far as Polk and Baker and Chisholm go.
- 1:46:10Speaker 7: I can see those guys guys plenty.
- 1:46:12Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:46:12Speaker 7: Oh yeah, I think you'll see a lot of those guys. Yeah.
- 1:46:14Speaker 5: I worry about from the other direction, of like if
- 1:46:18Speaker 5: Afton Chisholm has one of those precs like in Austin,
- 1:46:20Speaker 5: get squad now cool.
- 1:46:22Speaker 13: Great.
- 1:46:22Speaker 5: I think that some of that's overrated. I know that's
- 1:46:24Speaker 5: what Paul's about to.
- 1:46:25Speaker 7: Say, but no, I'm not. I was actually gonna button
- 1:46:28Speaker 7: hook you. Let me, let me throw this one at you.
- 1:46:30Speaker 7: You know me, I'm always thinking about stupid stuff that
- 1:46:32Speaker 7: really doesn't matter at all, Like made his extension three
- 1:46:35Speaker 7: years or they just brought back an old friend Jamichael
- 1:46:42Speaker 7: Hasty Michael right, So he's kind of, you know, the
- 1:46:46Speaker 7: smaller pass catching kind of back. There's a couple of
- 1:46:50Speaker 7: ways to look at this, like do they just want
- 1:46:52Speaker 7: Hasty to go out there? He's not really part of
- 1:46:54Speaker 7: the plan. I would thank you sign a guy halfway
- 1:46:56Speaker 7: through training camp in preseason handle, give him, give him
- 1:46:59Speaker 7: they maybe that you do not want give him the touches.
- 1:47:03Speaker 7: Maybe you do not want land Larison to get language.
- 1:47:08Speaker 7: That's just something I was thinking about when I was today,
- 1:47:10Speaker 7: Like that's that's a bill would do that, right. So
- 1:47:13Speaker 7: we know we kind of like this guy. We don't
- 1:47:16Speaker 7: have a spot for him on the roster. We're gonna
- 1:47:17Speaker 7: put him on the practice squad. So we don't want
- 1:47:19Speaker 7: him to go out there and put up ninety yards
- 1:47:21Speaker 7: of total offense and some meaningless preseason game and get
- 1:47:24Speaker 7: on the radar from everybody. Yeah. Yeah, so let's bring
- 1:47:27Speaker 7: in Jamichael Hasty to get all those yards.
- 1:47:30Speaker 9: Welcome back, here's eighty carres three weeks and you'll be.
- 1:47:33Speaker 4: Back not checking that.
- 1:47:34Speaker 7: That would be one of those that's stupid.
- 1:47:36Speaker 5: No, that would be one of those like three D
- 1:47:38Speaker 5: Chess things back in the Dynasty where we would be like,
- 1:47:41Speaker 5: Bill's just so much smarter than everybody else, you know,
- 1:47:43Speaker 5: look at what he's doing, and then like it would
- 1:47:46Speaker 5: be like Taylor, I'm.
- 1:47:48Speaker 7: Gonna fully go to the other side because I want
- 1:47:51Speaker 7: to acknowledge there's another side of the possibilities and that
- 1:47:56Speaker 7: they haven't been overly impressed with land Larison and they're
- 1:47:59Speaker 7: looking for some ad depth at one of these little scatbacks,
- 1:48:01Speaker 7: and they know Hasty is an NFL player. Ish, Yeah,
- 1:48:06Speaker 7: maybe they bring him in and see if they can
- 1:48:08Speaker 7: get him up to speed. And he feels like this
- 1:48:11Speaker 7: secondary role as like a backup pass catcher.
- 1:48:14Speaker 9: What about Terrel Jennings earl guy from US Shames, I.
- 1:48:17Speaker 5: Feel like I think he's still in the mix. I
- 1:48:19Speaker 5: feel like feeding Terrell Jennings the rock in the preseason.
- 1:48:21Speaker 5: This definitely happened. That's a second half of the Preseasonterrell Jennings.
- 1:48:25Speaker 7: I'll be saying, yeah, believe me, I'll be saying that
- 1:48:28Speaker 7: Mike do So, Paul Perillo or fan favorites of Cearrel
- 1:48:31Speaker 7: Jennings at some.
- 1:48:31Speaker 5: Point among property on Terrell Jennings.
- 1:48:34Speaker 7: Island correct, Curtis and Lewis your little phrases though.
- 1:48:40Speaker 4: Curtis and Saint Louis. There's been a lot of talk
- 1:48:42Speaker 4: recently about how the Patriots should be on the phones
- 1:48:45Speaker 4: trying to trade for Michael Parsons. Nick Cattle's says it's
- 1:48:49Speaker 4: a no brainer, Chris can't have ESPN says they should
- 1:48:52Speaker 4: be the front runners in the pursuit, and many others
- 1:48:54Speaker 4: preaching this move would make them play of contenders. I
- 1:48:57Speaker 4: personally disagree. One, I do not believe he's going anywhere.
- 1:49:01Speaker 4: Although I can't stand Jerry Jones, He's not a dummy. Dude,
- 1:49:04Speaker 4: knows what he's doing. Prs PR.
- 1:49:06Speaker 7: Secondly, so you don't disagree, you don't think he's going
- 1:49:09Speaker 7: to get traded. That's what he said, Yeah, right, doesn't
- 1:49:11Speaker 7: disagree with first thing, that the Patriots should be interested
- 1:49:14Speaker 7: in MIKEAEH. Parsons. Secondly, my first reason is he's not
- 1:49:16Speaker 7: going to get traded.
- 1:49:17Speaker 4: Secondly, what would it take in a trade to acquire him?
- 1:49:20Speaker 4: I feel it would be way too rich for this
- 1:49:22Speaker 4: current Patriots team. I look at the Khalil Matc trade
- 1:49:25Speaker 4: to Chicago as reference. I wanted to know where you
- 1:49:28Speaker 4: guys stand on Parsons.
- 1:49:30Speaker 5: Yeah, I think it'd take two first round packs.
- 1:49:31Speaker 7: I need to know what the compensation is, but.
- 1:49:34Speaker 5: I think it would take two first round picks.
- 1:49:35Speaker 7: I don't know why you wouldn't be interested in that.
- 1:49:38Speaker 4: Would you give up to my first round?
- 1:49:41Speaker 7: Probably really for a defensive stud in his prime. Talk
- 1:49:46Speaker 7: about Mike's side of the ball getting to the point
- 1:49:50Speaker 7: where they're just about dominant.
- 1:49:51Speaker 9: Well, you know it's hard.
- 1:49:53Speaker 6: I like, I love that player, and he would change
- 1:49:55Speaker 6: the whole dynamic of everything. You know, But there's also
- 1:49:58Speaker 6: just this weird part of me that likes, you know,
- 1:50:01Speaker 6: doing it the old fashioned way and building break.
- 1:50:03Speaker 4: One of the reasons why you keep that first round
- 1:50:05Speaker 4: pick is that reason? Stud? Yeah, okay, so spend the
- 1:50:09Speaker 4: first round pick on a stud?
- 1:50:10Speaker 11: Got it?
- 1:50:11Speaker 6: This is the book that's using the first round pick
- 1:50:13Speaker 6: on so does But then does that mean Christian zaliz
- 1:50:16Speaker 6: walks next to the season Why?
- 1:50:17Speaker 7: Why does it mean that?
- 1:50:18Speaker 9: Because you live in a place where just you got
- 1:50:20Speaker 9: the money, just spend it. Spend it, spend it, spend it,
- 1:50:21Speaker 9: spend it.
- 1:50:22Speaker 6: Like you know, you think there's a certain point where
- 1:50:23Speaker 6: they're like Parsons, do they though?
- 1:50:26Speaker 7: I mean like they do the actual just one good
- 1:50:30Speaker 7: player on a high, Like they're like Jamar Chase and
- 1:50:32Speaker 7: Joe Burrow make a lot of money.
- 1:50:34Speaker 5: It's possible, you know that, Like like T Higgins, like
- 1:50:37Speaker 5: he's not going to be in Cincinnati for the life
- 1:50:39Speaker 5: of that entire contract.
- 1:50:40Speaker 7: No, but I'm just saying, you can do it as
- 1:50:42Speaker 7: long as you want to. Sure, but like if you
- 1:50:44Speaker 7: don't want it, you don't want to. Mike might be right,
- 1:50:46Speaker 7: they might not want.
- 1:50:47Speaker 5: This guy is a good example because like they just
- 1:50:49Speaker 5: gave T Higgins that extension. I don't believe that he's
- 1:50:53Speaker 5: going to finish that extension.
- 1:50:54Speaker 7: But do you believe that Chase and Joe Burrow? Sure,
- 1:50:56Speaker 7: but well that's all we're talking about is two. We
- 1:50:58Speaker 7: don't need three.
- 1:51:00Speaker 5: But then T Higgins, we'll see what happens during his extension.
- 1:51:03Speaker 5: Trey Hendrickson's is still holding out again.
- 1:51:07Speaker 7: But we're not talking about multiple, which is talking about
- 1:51:09Speaker 7: just two more than one, is I guess multiple, but
- 1:51:12Speaker 7: not several, just two Micah Parsons and Christian Gonzales and May.
- 1:51:19Speaker 5: Christian Years and Christian Barmore and Milton Williams.
- 1:51:23Speaker 7: That's not that kind of money.
- 1:51:24Speaker 5: It's not not any money.
- 1:51:27Speaker 7: This is I think Mike's point is you're gonna have
- 1:51:30Speaker 7: to make Micah Parsons the highest paid defensive player in
- 1:51:32Speaker 7: football forty million right year. Yeah, that to me is
- 1:51:35Speaker 7: different than yeah, you know, twenty six million guaranteed. Yeah, yeah, no,
- 1:51:39Speaker 7: you're right, you know, like that's a different animal.
- 1:51:42Speaker 6: He can't argue with talent. I mean, that's ultimately what
- 1:51:44Speaker 6: just appeals to you. You want to watch those guys,
- 1:51:46Speaker 6: those I mean, Michael Parsons is just I mean I
- 1:51:48Speaker 6: remember like the early mock drafts who were all like, yeah,
- 1:51:50Speaker 6: Michael Parsons at fourteenth the Patriots, I remember doing that
- 1:51:54Speaker 6: almost cut there, you know, I know it's taken him
- 1:51:56Speaker 6: in a blank.
- 1:51:57Speaker 5: I think they would have I think they would have
- 1:51:59Speaker 5: run the car up there, like that's what all the
- 1:52:01Speaker 5: reporting has been since that draft is that if Michah
- 1:52:04Speaker 5: Parsons is on the board, Bill is taking Michaeh Parsons
- 1:52:06Speaker 5: and not mac gill, it would have been Micah Parsons
- 1:52:09Speaker 5: and Davis Mills like that. That would have been Now.
- 1:52:11Speaker 7: I agree, he's probably not going to get traded, you know,
- 1:52:13Speaker 7: but it's funny. It's fun to just sort of throw
- 1:52:16Speaker 7: it off, and.
- 1:52:17Speaker 10: It's not like it's arbitrary, like it would fulfill a
- 1:52:19Speaker 10: need in the coming years. We've said how many times
- 1:52:21Speaker 10: on this show that linebacker is sneaky a thing we
- 1:52:24Speaker 10: need to look at next season and if not free agency.
- 1:52:29Speaker 7: He's just a really good player. He can make a
- 1:52:31Speaker 7: case he's the best defensive player in football. That's what
- 1:52:33Speaker 7: he's going to make that case. Yeah, he's gonna he's
- 1:52:37Speaker 7: going to exceed those contracts, right, I would think so.
- 1:52:40Speaker 7: And he's in his prime. It's not like like the
- 1:52:43Speaker 7: Terry McLaurin stuff that we've been talking about forever.
- 1:52:45Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:52:46Speaker 7: I can understand some people being reticent because he's thirty
- 1:52:49Speaker 7: and you know, you want to give him big money
- 1:52:51Speaker 7: at thirty. He's going to have to come down from
- 1:52:53Speaker 7: that number.
- 1:52:54Speaker 5: Yeah, I think the coolest thing about Michael Parsons to
- 1:52:57Speaker 5: me is how versatile he is, like Miles Garrett. Awesome,
- 1:53:00Speaker 5: don't get me wrong, But when as over the left
- 1:53:05Speaker 5: tackle and rushes to quarterback, which there's nothing wrong with.
- 1:53:07Speaker 7: When he was on the trade block there for for
- 1:53:09Speaker 7: a minute, you know, I was in on that.
- 1:53:11Speaker 5: Yeah, he's an absolute alien. But like Michael Parsons is
- 1:53:15Speaker 5: outside pass rush, you can find him up over the
- 1:53:17Speaker 5: center where he just demolishes centers. He can play him
- 1:53:20Speaker 5: off the ball like he's just gone. He's a he's
- 1:53:24Speaker 5: a great player.
- 1:53:25Speaker 7: Crystables. Okay, micah uh, let's go to California.
- 1:53:30Speaker 4: Jeff's on the phone, Hey Jeff, you guys journey.
- 1:53:35Speaker 8: Yes, okay, I got a few things here.
- 1:53:39Speaker 20: First of all, my one concern is that at my means,
- 1:53:43Speaker 20: do you think there's a chance they can pick somebody
- 1:53:46Speaker 20: else when I start that's what happened to him?
- 1:53:52Speaker 8: Did you hurt?
- 1:53:53Speaker 20: No?
- 1:53:54Speaker 7: No, No, he's out there. He's been out there every day.
- 1:54:00Speaker 20: You can get him to the practice pot.
- 1:54:01Speaker 2: I don't think you can getisis what do you think?
- 1:54:05Speaker 7: Think you have any problem with either one? I think
- 1:54:08Speaker 7: unless like something happens in the preseason and all of
- 1:54:11Speaker 7: a sudden, yet like twelve catches.
- 1:54:14Speaker 5: Yeah, chism is uh, chism looks great like in one
- 1:54:18Speaker 5: on ones and seven on seven and route on it
- 1:54:21Speaker 5: on air and they get into the eleven on elevens
- 1:54:23Speaker 5: and I don't feel like I write his name down tone.
- 1:54:26Speaker 9: Yeah, So like.
- 1:54:28Speaker 7: That hasn't gotten many opportunities with the front line guys.
- 1:54:31Speaker 9: Oh no, no, no, say it was point two with
- 1:54:34Speaker 9: heat saying tackles about hitting them up. I mean they
- 1:54:36Speaker 9: did last year. I mean that's what But that's what
- 1:54:38Speaker 9: you're gonna get.
- 1:54:39Speaker 7: Like, so I'm not going to tell you you can't
- 1:54:40Speaker 7: pick up linemen that are going to become available, but
- 1:54:42Speaker 7: that's the caliber of lineman that's going to become available.
- 1:54:45Speaker 7: Everybody needs lineman.
- 1:54:46Speaker 5: I think Williams, your tackles are better now than the
- 1:54:51Speaker 5: guys that you could pick up on the waiver wire.
- 1:54:53Speaker 7: Right, But you know my point, like you, you more
- 1:54:55Speaker 7: than anybody, hammer home the fact that everybody is looking
- 1:54:58Speaker 7: for linemen. Yeah, so when they're releasing their alignment, they're
- 1:55:02Speaker 7: not going to be upgrades for you.
- 1:55:05Speaker 5: Could there be a center if you have two starting
- 1:55:08Speaker 5: caliber tackles that you feel really good about you're already
- 1:55:11Speaker 5: ahead of like half the league.
- 1:55:14Speaker 7: But do you think there's going to be a center
- 1:55:16Speaker 7: better than Jared Wilson.
- 1:55:18Speaker 9: Well, I don't know. I mean, I mean, just maybe
- 1:55:20Speaker 9: better than Garret Bradberry.
- 1:55:21Speaker 7: Maybe Ben. Oh, no way you're gonna get it. You're
- 1:55:24Speaker 7: not gonna get a starting caliber player.
- 1:55:27Speaker 9: Ben Brown was the I'm just balling here exactly.
- 1:55:31Speaker 4: Pascal has a would you rather? He said, would you
- 1:55:34Speaker 4: rather Draco undefeated or however close to undefeated is necessary
- 1:55:38Speaker 4: for this exercise, and win the Super Bowl this year,
- 1:55:41Speaker 4: then flame out and never make the playoffs again, or
- 1:55:46Speaker 4: make the playoffs every year for the next fifteen years,
- 1:55:48Speaker 4: but never better than the three seed, and win the
- 1:55:51Speaker 4: Super Bowl the year he retires.
- 1:55:53Speaker 7: The second one, the second one a decade, so he
- 1:55:58Speaker 7: has a great fifteen year career and has on average
- 1:56:01Speaker 7: the third seed in the AFC. And I was about
- 1:56:04Speaker 7: to say, they tap it off by winning, Yeah, as
- 1:56:07Speaker 7: opposed to one great year.
- 1:56:08Speaker 4: Right, and then flam out and never make a playoffs.
- 1:56:11Speaker 7: Yeah, I'll take b I'll take that.
- 1:56:15Speaker 4: I like it.
- 1:56:16Speaker 7: Yeah, another good one. Emails have been strong today, strong
- 1:56:18Speaker 7: to quite.
- 1:56:18Speaker 4: Stright, but it wasn't great because obvious well.
- 1:56:22Speaker 7: That's for us, maybe not for him. Why do people
- 1:56:25Speaker 7: have to think like you, Fred, because.
- 1:56:26Speaker 8: We know the facts.
- 1:56:28Speaker 7: That's a good point.
- 1:56:29Speaker 4: We know the facts.
- 1:56:30Speaker 7: It's a good point.
- 1:56:31Speaker 4: And you know we were the originators of the great debate.
- 1:56:34Speaker 7: That is true.
- 1:56:35Speaker 4: Also, Yeah, Santo was worried about injuries, and the old
- 1:56:41Speaker 4: days risk was less because next man up mentality worked
- 1:56:44Speaker 4: because there were few drop offs and talent. Patriots do
- 1:56:47Speaker 4: not have that backup talent. So if there are a
- 1:56:50Speaker 4: few injuries this year, I could see ten wins. If
- 1:56:53Speaker 4: the injuries are numerous, I could not see them winning
- 1:56:56Speaker 4: more than six games.
- 1:56:59Speaker 7: Great unknown the injuries obviously hurt. I do have more
- 1:57:04Speaker 7: faith in Vrabel and his staff to overcome. Yeah, the
- 1:57:08Speaker 7: way that Bill did, I don't think. I think there
- 1:57:10Speaker 7: was a big gap a lot of times between the
- 1:57:13Speaker 7: guys that got hurt and the guys that Bill plugged in.
- 1:57:15Speaker 7: But they were able to sort of scheme around it
- 1:57:17Speaker 7: a little bit.
- 1:57:18Speaker 5: I remember, and it might have been seventeen the Mexico
- 1:57:22Speaker 5: City game against the Raiders and they had to play
- 1:57:26Speaker 5: a backup tackle and it's escaping me. If it was
- 1:57:29Speaker 5: like well the Ladrian Wattle or like Cam Fleming. It
- 1:57:35Speaker 5: was like one of those guys and they were facing
- 1:57:37Speaker 5: Khalil Mack with the Raiders, and Kalil Mack like you
- 1:57:41Speaker 5: didn't even hear it, get his name called.
- 1:57:42Speaker 18: The entire game, and it was like they just decide,
- 1:57:45Speaker 18: you know, that was Bill Brady. Black guy's not going
- 1:57:48Speaker 18: to ruin the game, right, Four guys out on round,
- 1:57:52Speaker 18: and I have faith that this coaching staff can do
- 1:57:54Speaker 18: similar stuff. I'm not saying they were as good as
- 1:57:56Speaker 18: Bill in his prime before that guy that yelled at
- 1:57:58Speaker 18: me for suggesting that Bill wasn't that good couple of
- 1:58:00Speaker 18: weeks ago. I'm not suggesting these guys will do it
- 1:58:03Speaker 18: better than Bill, but I think there's more of that
- 1:58:05Speaker 18: kind of a mentality that you know, Josh McDaniels isn't
- 1:58:08Speaker 18: gonna watch Will Campbell give up two sacks in the
- 1:58:11Speaker 18: first quarter and just say, well, we're block him better. No,
- 1:58:16Speaker 18: he's gonna start putting the tight ends over there, he's
- 1:58:18Speaker 18: gonna chip, he's gonna do different things.
- 1:58:20Speaker 5: An of times that I heard last year, I'm putting
- 1:58:22Speaker 5: the jive guys into the pattern, like only have works
- 1:58:25Speaker 5: if you put five guys in the pattern, if you
- 1:58:27Speaker 5: can throw the ball and the quarterback's.
- 1:58:29Speaker 7: Not on his butt after two and a half, Josh
- 1:58:31Speaker 7: won't bang his head into a wall and just allow
- 1:58:33Speaker 7: his quarterback to get killed.
- 1:58:36Speaker 4: All right, killed, that's gonna be it.
- 1:58:39Speaker 7: Change.

- 1:59:19Speaker 9: Yeah okay, So how about if.
- 1:59:22Speaker 3: They can about the show?
- 1:59:24Speaker 7: How about if they send in a question that I
- 1:59:27Speaker 7: don't get the answer to the like we have to
- 1:59:33Speaker 7: have some parameters there, like I don't need like how
- 1:59:35Speaker 7: many receiving yards in his career did Troy Brown have?
- 1:59:39Speaker 16: Like?
- 1:59:39Speaker 7: And I would have to come up with the exact hotal,
- 1:59:41Speaker 7: like something that's reasonable that a reasonable person could maybe
- 1:59:44Speaker 7: get a reasonable trivia question, something on the Patriots. All right,
- 1:59:48Speaker 7: Fred didn't like that. I thought you'd like that.
- 1:59:50Speaker 4: That's okay, Stump, Paul.
- 1:59:52Speaker 7: Stump, the moron.
