Ep. 4097 Who BLOCKED Trump’s SAVE America Act? · Turley Talks

• 0:00
[SPEAKER_00]: The liberal globalist order is on its brink and awakening a new conservative age.
• 0:06
[SPEAKER_00]: Dr. Steve Turley, join me every day as we discover answers to today's toughest challenges and explore the re-bondalization of conservative civilization.
• 0:18
  [SPEAKER_00]: This is Turley Talks.
• 0:21
[SPEAKER_00]: Hey gang, it's me, Dr. Steve, your back porch professor.
• 0:24
[SPEAKER_00]: I hope you're all enjoying a wonderful week and despite the fact that we've all been betrayed with the Save Act.
• 0:31
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure many of you heard by now that last night early in the wee hours, the Senate voted on Senator John Houston's version of the Save Act, which was a voter.
• 0:42
[SPEAKER_00]: ID only version as a stand alone.
• 0:45
[SPEAKER_00]: Not as part of a reconciliation bill, most particularly the budget resolution bill that the Senate was supposed to vote on.
• 0:53
[SPEAKER_00]: It's so ridiculous because we were building so much momentum all throughout the week, even Mike Lee for the first time was very optimistic that last night we were going to get this pass as part of a budget
• 1:09
[SPEAKER_00]: past the midterms and it was crucial for the say back because it attaches the say back to a reconciliation process by passing the filibuster the 60 votes needed to beat the phantom filibuster as I like to call it.
• 1:24
[SPEAKER_00]: While as it turns out John Thune, yep, Senator so-called majority leader John Thune decided to table the budget resolution until September
• 1:39
[SPEAKER_00]: This is Thunes job, this is what drives me crazy, as Senate leader he's supposed to get the votes, regardless, so they voted on the voter ID provision of the save act as a stand alone.
• 1:52
[SPEAKER_00]: And the momentum that was building up all throughout the week with JD Vance, visiting Capitol Hill with the 20 GOP Senators refusing to go on recess until the save act,
• 2:06
[SPEAKER_00]: that seemed to do something because that standalone voter ID got 52 votes.
• 2:12
[SPEAKER_00]: Every single GOP senator, every single one voted for voter ID last night.
• 2:16
  [SPEAKER_00]: It was Mitch McConnell.
• 2:18
[SPEAKER_00]: I think he was the only one not there for obvious reasons.
• 2:20
[SPEAKER_00]: Moved to be a match.
• 2:22
[SPEAKER_00]: But for the very first time ever, every single Republican senator voted for at least this one, this very important provision in the
• 2:35
  [SPEAKER_00]: wrong.
• 2:35
  [SPEAKER_00]: It failed.
• 2:37
[SPEAKER_00]: And it failed because Thun failed to attach it to reconciliation bill.
• 2:41
[SPEAKER_00]: So it's voted on us to as a stand alone.
• 2:43
[SPEAKER_00]: And it died because any and all bills that are not reconciliation bills require 60 votes to overcome the phantom filibuster, right?
• 2:51
[SPEAKER_00]: I call it phantom because no one is actually filibustering.
• 2:55
[SPEAKER_00]: No one's actually up on the Senate floor.
• 2:57
[SPEAKER_00]: talking for hours and hours and hours straight.
• 2:59
[SPEAKER_00]: Those were the good old days when Jimmy Stewart is Mr. Smith going to Washington, collapse in the Senate floor because he talked nonstop for like 20 days straight.
• 3:09
[SPEAKER_00]: The Senate back in the 1970s instituted a rule that killed off the need for actual talking filibuster.
• 3:16
[SPEAKER_00]: which is basically shut the Senate down.
• 3:19
[SPEAKER_00]: The Senate has not passed a major non-reconciliation bill since 2012 since Obamacare, when the Democrats had a 60-seat majority.
• 3:27
[SPEAKER_00]: There has not been a single major non-reconciliation bill passed in 14 years in the Senate.
• 3:34
  [SPEAKER_00]: It's a very definition of a paralyzed institution.
• 3:38
  [SPEAKER_00]: And then
• 3:39
[SPEAKER_00]: To add insult to injury as if that wasn't maddening enough, the Senate did have the votes to approve a motion to adjourn the spite of jackions from Sarah Mikeley and other conservative holdouts pushing the stay in session.
• 3:53
[SPEAKER_00]: But they formally passed the motion sending the chamber into recess until 3 p.m. on Monday, September 14th.
• 4:02
[SPEAKER_00]: There's your senators showing, once again, they have only your best interest in mine, haha.
• 4:07
[SPEAKER_00]: So who actually killed Voter ID last night?
• 4:12
[SPEAKER_00]: Let's put the blame exactly where it belongs.
• 4:14
[SPEAKER_00]: First and foremost, obviously, it was a Democrat.
• 4:18
[SPEAKER_00]: Every single one, including Federman, voted against Voter ID.
• 4:22
[SPEAKER_00]: No one crossed over to get America closer to 60.
• 4:26
[SPEAKER_00]: So that's the largest, most unifying block against this bill, and it's worth remembering in November.
• 4:32
[SPEAKER_00]: We also should signal out the Senate parliamentarian, Elizabeth McDonald.
• 4:36
  [SPEAKER_00]: She's a freaking Obama appointee leftover.
• 4:41
[SPEAKER_00]: She's an unelected, unaccountable bureaucrat who is consistently repeatedly ruled that no portion of the save act is allowed in a budget reconciliation package.
• 4:51
[SPEAKER_00]: That's why President Trump has been publicly calling on Thune to fire her, which he has the power to do, but he refuses to do it.
• 5:01
[SPEAKER_00]: Now, for his part, Thune did vote yes on voter ID, but given that he refused to attach it to a reconciliation bill, given that even refused to put a reconciliation bill on the Senate floor, the vote was purely performative.
• 5:15
[SPEAKER_00]: He knew it would die in the shadow of the Democrat filibuster.
• 5:20
[SPEAKER_00]: And then, he allowed the Senate to vote to adjourn until September.
• 5:26
[SPEAKER_00]: So what does this mean?
• 5:28
  [SPEAKER_00]: Several things.
• 5:30
[SPEAKER_00]: realistically ganged bottom line to say that cannot pass and be implemented at time for the November midterms.
• 5:37
[SPEAKER_00]: There's no center-micly has acknowledged the bill needed to pass by this week to have any shot at implementation in Thunboched it.
• 5:48
[SPEAKER_00]: And I believe he intentionally botched it.
• 5:50
[SPEAKER_00]: He along with these factless Rhino Republicans simply don't want to give Trump another political
• 5:59
[SPEAKER_00]: They don't want any new laws to get in the way their own re-election schemes that often involve their own version of election fraud like Lisa McCouske, who just blatantly cheats with rank choice voting to manufacture a non-existent majority.
• 6:14
[SPEAKER_00]: Second, we have to be more determined than ever to clean house.
• 6:18
[SPEAKER_00]: And that means voting is many of these rhinos come out as possible.
• 6:22
[SPEAKER_00]: So, and that's during the primary.
• 6:24
[SPEAKER_00]: So, we need to list Cheney them.
• 6:26
[SPEAKER_00]: And that's going to start with none other than John Thune.
• 6:29
  [SPEAKER_00]: He's done.
• 6:30
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't see any possible ways to win reelection in 2028.
• 6:34
[SPEAKER_00]: I think he just signed his own political death warrant to be honest with you.
• 6:38
[SPEAKER_00]: Again, the good news here is that we're about to get three new mega senators from Texas Louisiana, Ohio and in November.
• 6:45
[SPEAKER_00]: We're getting rid of the establishment one election at time, but of course this is going to take time given the structure of the Senate.
• 6:54
[SPEAKER_00]: And finally, this now comes back to President Trump's court.
• 6:58
[SPEAKER_00]: Trump has already issued two executive orders directing.
• 7:01
  [SPEAKER_00]: Citizenship, verification lists, U.S.
• 7:04
[SPEAKER_00]: Postal Service, mail ballot tracking, stricter absentee ballot rules.
• 7:09
[SPEAKER_00]: He's prioritized DOJ prosecution of election violations.
• 7:13
[SPEAKER_00]: And he's also pushed states to hand over voter roles in his suit of Moverett, dismantled parts of the election assistance commission.
• 7:21
[SPEAKER_00]: And he's appealed to the Supreme Court after lower courts blocks some key provisions.
• 7:27
[SPEAKER_00]: He can put the final nail on the coffin and all of this by simply declaring a national emergency and automatically federalize these elections, which would in turn bypass both the courts and Congress.
• 7:39
[SPEAKER_00]: Now he's done this before, in his first administration, let's see if he'll declare a national emergency again.
• 7:46
  [SPEAKER_00]: Either way,
• 7:48
[SPEAKER_00]: This was, indeed, it was a huge disappointment.
• 7:50
[SPEAKER_00]: It was a betrayal in the end, John Thun did not come through.
• 7:53
[SPEAKER_00]: And I frankly don't think he ever intended to.
• 7:56
[SPEAKER_00]: Now it's our job to lobby President Trump to take matters fully into his own hands for November.
• 8:02
[SPEAKER_00]: And count the days when we could give food and plenty of other rhinos, the Liz Cheney Treatment in 2028.
• 8:08
[SPEAKER_00]: So what do you guys think?
• 8:10
[SPEAKER_00]: I know you must be very upset.
• 8:12
  [SPEAKER_00]: You should be.
• 8:12
  [SPEAKER_00]: We all should be.
• 8:13
[SPEAKER_00]: Let me know in the comments section below, but let's always remember we're going to be constructive.
• 8:18
[SPEAKER_00]: we are going to do what we need to do in the primaries to get rid of the rhinos we need to get rid of and we're just going to keep marching forward.
• 8:27
[SPEAKER_00]: But let me know what you think in the comments section below.
• 8:30
[SPEAKER_00]: Enjoy the rest of your week and I love you guys.
• 8:32
