- 2:21Speaker 4: How are you this evening? Good deal? A good deal?
- 2:31Speaker 5: Well?
- 2:31Speaker 3: I am excited about this show. This is a show
- 2:34Speaker 3: that we've kind of put off for a little bit.
- 2:38Speaker 3: We've had some scheduling issues. This is our entrepreneurship show.
- 2:43Speaker 3: As you would guess, a lot of entrepreneurs have a
- 2:45Speaker 3: lot of busy schedules doing different things. So I am
- 2:49Speaker 3: glad to have all the guests tonight, So thank you
- 2:52Speaker 3: for joining us again. This episode about these entrepreneurs is
- 2:56Speaker 3: not only to recognize and commemorate those who shows the
- 3:00Speaker 3: roads less paved, but to also seek some wise counsel
- 3:04Speaker 3: on how to pay the roads of entrepreneurship that lead
- 3:08Speaker 3: to success. So I'm excited about this show to see
- 3:11Speaker 3: what we can see what these entrepreneurship bring to the table.
- 3:15Speaker 4: How about you, Jess? You excited to have this show finally?
- 3:19Speaker 6: Oh?
- 3:19Speaker 7: Yeah, I'm definitely excited. It's one of those episodes we've
- 3:22Speaker 7: been working on for quite a while. Being an entrepreneur myself,
- 3:26Speaker 7: I'm interested to see what they got for us and
- 3:29Speaker 7: how I can learn from it and maybe get that
- 3:32Speaker 7: get everything back on track and start going again.
- 3:36Speaker 3: And that's what we're hoping to do, try to ignite
- 3:38Speaker 3: some fires and some people, keep some people motivated. So
- 3:42Speaker 3: without further ado, because we don't have a lot of time,
- 3:45Speaker 3: and we want to give these entrepreneurs a lot of
- 3:47Speaker 3: time to or enough time to go ahead and do
- 3:49Speaker 3: what they do. So thank you to all the entrepreneurs
- 3:53Speaker 3: that have shown up. Let me go ahead and introduce them.
- 3:56Speaker 3: First off, let me introduced by the way, Can you
- 4:00Speaker 3: hear me?
- 4:02Speaker 6: Yeah? I can hear you?
- 4:03Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 4:03Speaker 6: Did you'll hear me?
- 4:06Speaker 2: Good?
- 4:06Speaker 6: How y'all doing all right, cool, cool, good, doing good.
- 4:09Speaker 3: I want to give you just a moment to go
- 4:11Speaker 3: ahead and introduce yourself and give a brief description of
- 4:14Speaker 3: what you do and what you bring to the business table.
- 4:16Speaker 6: All right, Well, my name is Cali. Uh.
- 4:19Speaker 8: What I do is my entrepreneur some my own clothes,
- 4:22Speaker 8: my own clothing brand, So do stuff like that, man.
- 4:25Speaker 8: So that's like my main thing. I also do with
- 4:27Speaker 8: the Frenchies too, Frenchy dogs. But my main thing is clothing.
- 4:33Speaker 8: I got my own clothing line. It's called Block of
- 4:35Speaker 8: It's called Block Offornia. And right now I just dropped
- 4:38Speaker 8: the new brand called Blo Colorado because I'm out here
- 4:40Speaker 8: in Colorado right now, so it just represents represents the
- 4:44Speaker 8: Block the mountains in Colorado.
- 4:46Speaker 6: So yeah, awesome.
- 4:48Speaker 8: So and uh yeah, just doing that right now. That's
- 4:52Speaker 8: like my main project that I'm working on right there.
- 4:55Speaker 4: Okay.
- 4:56Speaker 3: And the little side Hustle is doing French. She's like here,
- 4:58Speaker 3: that's a good side Hustle.
- 4:59Speaker 6: I hear it used to be. It used to be.
- 5:03Speaker 8: Now, just I guess it's just overflooded. Everybody's overbreeding right now.
- 5:07Speaker 8: So I kind of didn't want to do that no
- 5:09Speaker 8: more so, and then you kind of get flat, You
- 5:12Speaker 8: kind of get kind of get a flat for it now.
- 5:14Speaker 6: People like, oh you bring dogs, Like hey, yeah, so.
- 5:17Speaker 8: I kind of stopped doing that, just focused more on
- 5:19Speaker 8: my clothing. But my clothes being it's been amazing, man,
- 5:22Speaker 8: been going.
- 5:22Speaker 2: Good for me so.
- 5:25Speaker 4: Well.
- 5:26Speaker 3: There are there is a big difference between the clothing
- 5:28Speaker 3: line and having a friendshire around the house. So we'll
- 5:33Speaker 3: get more into the details of your business though. Thank
- 5:35Speaker 3: you for joining us. We'll go ahead and bring up
- 5:38Speaker 3: miss Melissa, how are you doing this evening?
- 5:41Speaker 9: I am amazing. Thank you so much for having me.
- 5:44Speaker 9: I'm really excited for the conversation.
- 5:48Speaker 4: That's awesome. Thank you so much for joining us.
- 5:50Speaker 3: Why don't you give us a brief description of what
- 5:52Speaker 3: you do before we get into these questions.
- 5:54Speaker 9: Yeah, so, as you can see by my name there,
- 5:57Speaker 9: I'm a personal brand and messaging strategy. So basically I
- 6:01Speaker 9: help my clients with coming up with their clear messaging
- 6:06Speaker 9: how they're going to position themselves online so that they
- 6:09Speaker 9: can get to their next level of business. And yeah,
- 6:14Speaker 9: it's just it's been great. It's great helping women entrepreneurs
- 6:18Speaker 9: just really know that it's about who they are and
- 6:21Speaker 9: not only just what they do.
- 6:24Speaker 3: Awesome, Okay, we definitely have some questions about that. Ye
- 6:29Speaker 3: see what we can dive into about that. We also
- 6:32Speaker 3: had a special guest, miss Queen Angela, was going to
- 6:35Speaker 3: join us and tell us a little bit about what
- 6:37Speaker 3: she does. Miss Queen, are you going to join us
- 6:38Speaker 3: this evening? I think I see that she did tap in.
- 6:41Speaker 3: I don't know if she's going to be able to
- 6:43Speaker 3: answer some questions for us, Queen, are you there.
- 6:50Speaker 5: All right?
- 6:50Speaker 3: Well, if she's able to tap in, we'll get her
- 6:52Speaker 3: questions and ask her some things too clean you there, okay,
- 7:00Speaker 3: So again we'll get to her. But so we want
- 7:02Speaker 3: to go ahead and move on, like I said, and
- 7:05Speaker 3: give you got.
- 7:05Speaker 4: A chance to answer some of these questions.
- 7:07Speaker 3: We're hoping that you are people to, like we said,
- 7:09Speaker 3: ignite some fires and some people. And I know, entrepreneurship
- 7:12Speaker 3: get hard, especially in changing in this changing world, changing
- 7:18Speaker 3: and challenging. So, like Jaz said, like herself, trying to
- 7:24Speaker 3: get back on something, sometimes it's hard to just get
- 7:26Speaker 3: back on that horse falling off or after you just decided,
- 7:29Speaker 3: you know, maybe horse racking wasn't for you, giving up
- 7:32Speaker 3: a little bit, so I hope that you guys didn't
- 7:34Speaker 3: help us do that. So without further ado, I'm going
- 7:38Speaker 3: to get on to the first question. The first question
- 7:40Speaker 3: I have CALLI.
- 7:43Speaker 6: Yes, Kelly, thank you.
- 7:45Speaker 3: So what inspired you to start your business and how
- 7:49Speaker 3: did you identify it was a good time to do
- 7:52Speaker 3: so in the market?
- 7:53Speaker 4: Status?
- 7:56Speaker 6: Oh so made me start my business?
- 7:58Speaker 8: Actually just made a shirt one day for my basketball team,
- 8:03Speaker 8: and then everybody just liked it. I was probably like
- 8:06Speaker 8: I don't I say, like thirteen, fourteen years old, and
- 8:10Speaker 8: it just took off after that. I just start just
- 8:12Speaker 8: having these ideas, like I would see shirts, you know
- 8:14Speaker 8: what I mean, people wearing them, and then I'd be like,
- 8:16Speaker 8: you know what, I could do that, and I just
- 8:18Speaker 8: start trying to make my little version of it. And
- 8:21Speaker 8: then when I when I got in my twenties, I
- 8:24Speaker 8: kind of start taking it serious. That's when I came
- 8:26Speaker 8: up on my logo. I came up with my own
- 8:28Speaker 8: name like this, that Blackifornia name, and I just been
- 8:32Speaker 8: running and I just been running with it ever since,
- 8:35Speaker 8: like just going ahead, and I think already.
- 8:38Speaker 4: In Colorado when you came up.
- 8:40Speaker 6: With that to kind of now I've been doing this.
- 8:43Speaker 8: I was in California, like when I, like I said,
- 8:45Speaker 8: when I was a teenager. I've been doing this since
- 8:47Speaker 8: I was a teenager. So as soon as I got
- 8:50Speaker 8: probably like seventeen, that's when I took it like like serious,
- 8:54Speaker 8: start making it for people, like in my neighborhood.
- 8:57Speaker 6: Or it sounds crazy, but I used to be like
- 9:00Speaker 6: in trap houses.
- 9:00Speaker 8: And I would have my clothes just hung up, and
- 9:03Speaker 8: then people would come in and I was like, you know, take.
- 9:05Speaker 3: This out like barbershops, barbershops.
- 9:10Speaker 8: You know, yeah, I would just I was just trying
- 9:18Speaker 8: to get barbershops. So I was just trying to get
- 9:20Speaker 8: it in where I fit in, you know, I mean,
- 9:21Speaker 8: just trying to get that word out there. Because I
- 9:24Speaker 8: knew the name. I knew the name of I knew
- 9:25Speaker 8: the name was catching. I just had to market it
- 9:27Speaker 8: the right way. I just knew my idea was good.
- 9:29Speaker 8: I just had to market it the right way.
- 9:32Speaker 4: And when did you find the right time to market? What?
- 9:37Speaker 3: What was the status? And I know you said you
- 9:39Speaker 3: just kind of went with an idea. Was it just
- 9:41Speaker 3: that you just, hey, I'm just gonna try something, or
- 9:44Speaker 3: did you kind of see that it was a good
- 9:45Speaker 3: time to you know, kind of French out there.
- 9:49Speaker 6: It was good in California.
- 9:51Speaker 8: Like I said, I was doing out there, and then
- 9:52Speaker 8: as soon as I moved to Miami, like I was,
- 9:55Speaker 8: kind I was doing music at the same time, so
- 9:57Speaker 8: I kind of started branding my music with the clothes.
- 10:00Speaker 6: But Miami at that time was just like the hot spot.
- 10:03Speaker 8: Everybody wanted to come to Miami, So I just knew
- 10:06Speaker 8: that was the time to do it because it was
- 10:08Speaker 8: people from Canada, people from Cali, New York, Jamaica, everybody
- 10:12Speaker 8: was coming to Miami at the time when I was
- 10:14Speaker 8: out there, So I just knew, all right, I could
- 10:17Speaker 8: just hit this market right here on South Beach and
- 10:20Speaker 8: they would just spread.
- 10:21Speaker 6: And that's exactly what happened.
- 10:22Speaker 8: I was giving my shirts to homeless people, I was
- 10:24Speaker 8: giving to everybody, and everybody was just wearing every every
- 10:28Speaker 8: artist that came out there, every singer came out there,
- 10:30Speaker 8: I was just giving them shirts and they was just
- 10:33Speaker 8: wearing them. So that kind of it kind of just
- 10:35Speaker 8: took off for me after that.
- 10:37Speaker 3: So the right market for you was basically just finding
- 10:40Speaker 3: out where the crowd was at the time. Well, what
- 10:43Speaker 3: was the getting on the scene. Yeah, all right, I
- 10:46Speaker 3: think I seen as Angela. Queen Angela tap in. Are
- 10:49Speaker 3: you there in Queen, I can't hear you now?
- 10:54Speaker 4: Yes?
- 10:54Speaker 3: Perfect, awesome, great to have you on. Well, miss Queen,
- 10:58Speaker 3: we missed your introduction. Do you mind just telling us
- 11:01Speaker 3: your name in a brief description before we get into
- 11:03Speaker 3: your questions?
- 11:27Speaker 10: Okay, okay, okay.
- 11:46Speaker 3: So we got Queen Angela in there, and she wears
- 11:48Speaker 3: many hats, and I know from personal experience too, that
- 11:53Speaker 3: that is why you're called Queen Angela aka also known
- 11:57Speaker 3: as Queen a collaboration. She rubs many so she has
- 12:02Speaker 3: earned every gym in her crown. Okay, So if you needed,
- 12:05Speaker 3: she know how to get it if she don't already
- 12:07Speaker 3: have it. Okay, So thank you for joining us this evening.
- 12:11Speaker 4: We'll move on.
- 12:12Speaker 3: I guess we'll move on to to Queen's question. So
- 12:15Speaker 3: that's awesome. I'm glad she's joining us. Do as you
- 12:18Speaker 3: want to go on with Mss Queen.
- 12:19Speaker 7: Yeah, I'm glad that she was able to tappen because
- 12:22Speaker 7: with her description, that actually brings me to one of
- 12:25Speaker 7: the questions that I had for her, which is, how
- 12:27Speaker 7: do you stay innovative while trying to adapt to changing
- 12:30Speaker 7: trends and customer needs with what you do.
- 12:42Speaker 11: M ah hah hah yeah, h mm hm m hm
- 14:12Speaker 11: h m hm.
- 14:23Speaker 4: Definitely definitely uh huh mm hmm.
- 14:41Speaker 5: Mum hum.
- 14:42Speaker 12: Definitely that it.
- 14:46Speaker 7: Sure it does. Definitely did.
- 14:51Speaker 3: Being adaptive was number one, uh, the key thing in COVID,
- 14:56Speaker 3: So being adaptive in all those situations, you know, congratulations
- 15:02Speaker 3: to those who did still thrive. All right, miss Melissa,
- 15:05Speaker 3: I've got one for you. What leadership qualities do you
- 15:10Speaker 3: feel are important to possess while building a business or brand?
- 15:14Speaker 3: Which I feel like you know, that's a good question
- 15:16Speaker 3: for you since you work with different clients.
- 15:19Speaker 9: Yeah, definitely. One of the best and the major leadership
- 15:26Speaker 9: qualities that entrepreneurs should have is definitely being a decision
- 15:31Speaker 9: maker and an action taker. So a lot of people
- 15:35Speaker 9: get stuck in that hamster wheel of overthinking and they're like,
- 15:39Speaker 9: should I do this? Should I do that? I can
- 15:41Speaker 9: do this because, like the Queen was saying, we have
- 15:46Speaker 9: so many skills, we have so many talents, we have
- 15:48Speaker 9: so many things that we can do, and sometimes it's
- 15:52Speaker 9: just about saying, you know what, instead of me trying
- 15:54Speaker 9: to do all the things, what is that one thing
- 15:57Speaker 9: that I can just put my focus on right now,
- 16:00Speaker 9: make a decision and then take those steps forward, because
- 16:04Speaker 9: clarity comes from taking action. You don't know if you're
- 16:07Speaker 9: good at something. You don't know if you know something's
- 16:10Speaker 9: gonna work unless you make a decision and then you
- 16:13Speaker 9: go for it. So definitely, being a decision maker an
- 16:17Speaker 9: action taker is definitely something. You have to have a
- 16:22Speaker 9: leadership quality. And you know, I see myself more when
- 16:26Speaker 9: I'm with my clients is I'm like a wolf pack leader.
- 16:30Speaker 9: And so a wolf pack leader actually leads at the back.
- 16:33Speaker 9: They're not at the front of the pack. They're the
- 16:35Speaker 9: last person in the back because not only can they
- 16:38Speaker 9: see what's happening in the back, they can see what's
- 16:41Speaker 9: happening on the sides what's happening in front. And being
- 16:44Speaker 9: a leader doesn't mean you know all the like all
- 16:48Speaker 9: the eyes have to be on you. You have to
- 16:50Speaker 9: be able to see things from different angles, like I said,
- 16:53Speaker 9: to make the best decision for your business, for your brand,
- 16:57Speaker 9: so that you can move forward and build the momentum
- 17:00Speaker 9: and multiply like like you want to.
- 17:05Speaker 4: That's good. That's good. I like the wolf That's something that.
- 17:11Speaker 7: Yeah, well, well I was just gonna say since we
- 17:21Speaker 7: were talking about the wolf Cape, the wolf Pack and
- 17:24Speaker 7: you know, everything like that, and having to have those
- 17:28Speaker 7: different eyes if you will, on everything. That actually leads
- 17:31Speaker 7: me into the question that I got for Cali, like
- 17:34Speaker 7: what strategy is when you would move out to Miami
- 17:37Speaker 7: and you know, every after everything you had done, what
- 17:39Speaker 7: strategies did you find work best to help you grow
- 17:43Speaker 7: your business?
- 17:44Speaker 8: So even back then before the Internet, and even now,
- 17:49Speaker 8: I think it's coming back just showing your face more
- 17:53Speaker 8: out out in the public because everybody could be in
- 17:56Speaker 8: the Internet and everybody could judge you off that. But
- 17:58Speaker 8: sometimes when you meet people face the face, you shake
- 18:00Speaker 8: their hands, how they say, kissing, taking hands and kissing babies,
- 18:04Speaker 8: presidential stuff.
- 18:05Speaker 6: Just doing stuff like that because I'm good at that.
- 18:08Speaker 6: I'm good at talking to people.
- 18:09Speaker 8: Networking, so I guess like hitting little network parties and
- 18:13Speaker 8: stuff like that. Still getting your face out there, just
- 18:15Speaker 8: like it's just like if it was campaigning for like
- 18:17Speaker 8: the state mayor or something like that. You know, I
- 18:20Speaker 8: just want to get your face out there because sometimes
- 18:22Speaker 8: people by the face and by the attitude more than
- 18:25Speaker 8: the brand. And then sometimes it's vice versa. I don't
- 18:27Speaker 8: like you, but they like the brand, So I think
- 18:30Speaker 8: I sell more like doing that just networking with people.
- 18:34Speaker 3: Yeah, personality definitely sells. I know they say other things sell,
- 18:42Speaker 3: you know, but personality definitely sells. I know Jesse and
- 18:46Speaker 3: I have talked about even in the workplace, how I
- 18:48Speaker 3: don't you know even in emails. Emails can get a
- 18:52Speaker 3: little heated. I do about two emails if we go
- 18:54Speaker 3: back and forth, I'm picking up the phone.
- 18:57Speaker 4: Well.
- 18:57Speaker 3: Another reason for that, though, is because because as my customer,
- 19:01Speaker 3: you can't hear how urgent I am working for you,
- 19:05Speaker 3: how hard I'm working for you. When I say, oh
- 19:07Speaker 3: I'm pissed off to or yes I do understand, you
- 19:11Speaker 3: can't really understand that through text message. That's why they
- 19:13Speaker 3: call me the emoji queen. I use a lot of
- 19:15Speaker 3: emotions to feel what I'm saying. But it is something
- 19:19Speaker 3: about being more personable to somebody and they can feel
- 19:22Speaker 3: what you're doing versus that you're just trying to sell
- 19:25Speaker 3: them something. So say personable is very serious. So that's
- 19:28Speaker 3: that's that's awesome.
- 19:31Speaker 5: And yes, m m hm mm hmm.
- 20:00Speaker 12: Hmm, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 20:18Speaker 2: Mm hmm, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 20:32Speaker 8: And I think that's a lot. Like I said, it's
- 20:34Speaker 8: a lost I think it's a lost art now. Like
- 20:36Speaker 8: you said, everybody got so comfortable with the Internet, they
- 20:38Speaker 8: forgot about going outside because of COVID and everything.
- 20:41Speaker 5: Like how you they don't want to interact with right now.
- 20:45Speaker 2: Doing that right now?
- 20:46Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, with.
- 20:48Speaker 3: Everything, you got to take the good with the bad.
- 20:50Speaker 3: COVID showed us the good with the bad.
- 20:51Speaker 4: Now.
- 20:52Speaker 3: I will say this, even to you both that said,
- 20:55Speaker 3: you know, even being personable and how just being you know,
- 20:59Speaker 3: the person can say ill, there are some instances where
- 21:03Speaker 3: that's a gift and a curse because we all know
- 21:05Speaker 3: of some artists that are just a household name, and
- 21:09Speaker 3: like she just said, they can sell something that don't
- 21:11Speaker 3: say nothing just because it's their name.
- 21:15Speaker 4: You're gonna buy it. That's not always the best thing.
- 21:17Speaker 3: So but but on the flip side, I can say
- 21:20Speaker 3: it's because of the impression that they've left on people
- 21:24Speaker 3: from whatever they've put out before, or whatever they shook
- 21:28Speaker 3: hand and kissed some babies, you know, whatever they've done before.
- 21:32Speaker 3: And we as we all know first impressions or lasting impressions.
- 21:35Speaker 3: So from whatever they've done before, I'm just saying, just
- 21:37Speaker 3: make sure that whatever name you leave in left a
- 21:40Speaker 3: good impression already.
- 21:42Speaker 4: Okay, And even with that being said.
- 21:45Speaker 9: That's building a person. Well, I was just gonna say,
- 21:48Speaker 9: that's a personal brand right there. It's it's your reputation.
- 21:51Speaker 9: It's like what people think and feel about you, and
- 21:54Speaker 9: so like it makes sense that you know, whatever you do,
- 21:57Speaker 9: if someone's got a connection with you, someone loves your mission,
- 22:01Speaker 9: your vision, they see where you're going, they like your personality. Yeah,
- 22:06Speaker 9: they'll support you, they get behind you. So yeah, it's
- 22:08Speaker 9: really important nowadays to like know and be conscious of
- 22:12Speaker 9: that because we were shut down and locked in for
- 22:15Speaker 9: so long. People do want to get out and meet
- 22:18Speaker 9: poor people and build more communities and build bigger communities
- 22:21Speaker 9: and make movements and yeah, and it's really important to
- 22:24Speaker 9: do that.
- 22:26Speaker 3: They want to see real people doing real things. AI
- 22:29Speaker 3: is doing a lot so to see real people And
- 22:35Speaker 3: that's a whole other show.
- 22:37Speaker 13: We'll really everybody on the panel.
- 22:40Speaker 3: But and that's some good advice that everybody is given
- 22:43Speaker 3: being personable and stuff. And one of the other key
- 22:46Speaker 3: points is people don't really remember what you do, but
- 22:49Speaker 3: how you made them feel. So they'll probably follow you
- 22:51Speaker 3: to do anything because they know what type of person
- 22:53Speaker 3: you are. So those are some good key advices advice
- 22:56Speaker 3: to give to some people. And while we're talking about advice,
- 22:59Speaker 3: Ms Queen, let me.
- 22:59Speaker 4: Ask you this question.
- 23:02Speaker 3: What is the best advice or just just some really
- 23:05Speaker 3: good advice that you could give anyone starting their first
- 23:09Speaker 3: business or their brand. We've heard some good points, but
- 23:13Speaker 3: what is like some of the best advice you could
- 23:15Speaker 3: give them to to get started.
- 23:26Speaker 5: H mm hmm.
- 23:43Speaker 4: That's good. A lot of people are a little afraid
- 23:45Speaker 4: to do that, you know that.
- 23:48Speaker 3: I think one of the conversations Queen and I have
- 23:50Speaker 3: had before and we were talking about success, and she
- 23:54Speaker 3: said one thing that and it's something that I'll keep
- 23:56Speaker 3: forever even if you don't know, If you don't know that,
- 23:59Speaker 3: I took that away in my spirit. But she said
- 24:01Speaker 3: to me, a lot of people know what it feels
- 24:04Speaker 3: like to fail, so you know that they're okay with
- 24:07Speaker 3: that a little bit. But a lot of people are
- 24:09Speaker 3: afraid of success because they don't know how that feels.
- 24:12Speaker 3: So don't be agreed to succeed just because you don't
- 24:15Speaker 3: know how that feels. I mean, and I feel like
- 24:17Speaker 3: this even when she said that, I mean, it had
- 24:19Speaker 3: to you know, marinate in my spirit like neck bone
- 24:21Speaker 3: juice for a little bit. But even after that, it
- 24:24Speaker 3: was kind of like, if you already know what fail
- 24:28Speaker 3: your feels like, why not go for success? I mean that,
- 24:31Speaker 3: you know, if you already know what fail your feels like,
- 24:35Speaker 3: you know, so don't be afraid to go for that.
- 24:37Speaker 4: So that's some really good advice. Jazz, you got a
- 24:39Speaker 4: question for somebody?
- 24:41Speaker 9: Oh yeah, I got Sorry, no, God, can I can
- 24:45Speaker 9: I just add to that because it's and I just
- 24:48Speaker 9: came across this recently where somebody was hesitant to start
- 24:51Speaker 9: their business and people will like kind of say, oh,
- 24:56Speaker 9: because they've never got to success because they never had
- 25:00Speaker 9: that desire in that heart to try something. You're also
- 25:04Speaker 9: dealing with the negativity of other people who haven't been there,
- 25:08Speaker 9: who haven't been willing to take the risk, and you're
- 25:11Speaker 9: looking at them saying should I do this, and not
- 25:13Speaker 9: their vision. They don't see where you're going, they don't
- 25:16Speaker 9: have the heart for what you have, and they're like, oh,
- 25:19Speaker 9: I don't know if you should do that. The market
- 25:21Speaker 9: saturated and this and that. It's like it's on your heart,
- 25:25Speaker 9: you get exactly, and it's like if you have something
- 25:28Speaker 9: on your heart to do. It's there for a reason
- 25:31Speaker 9: and you should go for it.
- 25:33Speaker 8: And I think it's the number one thing too, like that,
- 25:35Speaker 8: the passion for doing it too. It If you're doing
- 25:37Speaker 8: it just for money, you're gonna fail, you know what
- 25:39Speaker 8: I mean. You got to have a passion in what
- 25:41Speaker 8: you're doing. Yes, are you not just going to follow
- 25:44Speaker 8: through your dream or it's just going to feel like
- 25:46Speaker 8: a job.
- 25:46Speaker 6: It's going to feel like a tedious thing, you know,
- 25:48Speaker 6: like you got to love what you do. So it's
- 25:50Speaker 6: do what you're saying.
- 26:01Speaker 14: Y hmm ye, look at.
- 26:47Speaker 5: H m hm.
- 27:04Speaker 4: No never never.
- 27:09Speaker 14: Yeah, yeah, by violent purple and violent.
- 27:15Speaker 4: Purple and violate is closed. It's close, but it ain't the.
- 27:18Speaker 12: Same thing, right, keep it.
- 27:34Speaker 4: Yeah, and what they see.
- 27:37Speaker 8: Yeah, And sometimes it's sometimes it's a time. Sometimes it's
- 27:42Speaker 8: a timing thing. Like you said, it may not be
- 27:45Speaker 8: your time. It's God wouldn't went on your time, you
- 27:47Speaker 8: know what I mean, Just like my clothes. I've been
- 27:49Speaker 8: doing this for so long. It's just I have waves.
- 27:52Speaker 8: Sometime I'm hit and it sometimes it's nothing. But right now,
- 27:55Speaker 8: God's just letting me hit. I'm on all cylinders.
- 27:59Speaker 6: It's a time sometime, you know, I mean, we've talked.
- 28:02Speaker 3: About that being being anointed but not yet appointed. So
- 28:06Speaker 3: you're still there.
- 28:09Speaker 6: They just they't called your number of yet. You in
- 28:12Speaker 6: the lobby, the lobby, you in the right place. It's
- 28:14Speaker 6: just not your time yet, all right.
- 28:25Speaker 15: Yeah, yeah, that comes back to that.
- 28:37Speaker 7: Will Well, Oh I sure do. I was gonna ask
- 28:43Speaker 7: Melissa because that kind of brings us into what we
- 28:47Speaker 7: were just talking about with just taking that like with
- 28:50Speaker 7: Queen Angelis at taking that risk, taking that leap of
- 28:53Speaker 7: faith in some things. Have you seen, Melissa, any common
- 28:58Speaker 7: mistakes that nor is me with the progress and the process.
- 29:06Speaker 9: When they're first starting, like when they're first starting.
- 29:09Speaker 7: Yeah, like whatever, Yeah, any common mistakes were first trying
- 29:12Speaker 7: to get started.
- 29:14Speaker 9: Yeah. One thing that I see a lot of people
- 29:17Speaker 9: do is kind of in line with what we're saying
- 29:19Speaker 9: now is they're trying to do everything because they think
- 29:24Speaker 9: they need to do everything. And sometimes it's like they're
- 29:29Speaker 9: doing things because like oh I should be doing this,
- 29:33Speaker 9: I should be doing that, I have this skill, I
- 29:36Speaker 9: have that skill. But it's because you have the skill
- 29:39Speaker 9: or you have the the know how how to do something,
- 29:41Speaker 9: does it mean that you were called to do maybe
- 29:44Speaker 9: something to do that maybe something in that skill will
- 29:48Speaker 9: help you. But it's about knowing what am I here
- 29:52Speaker 9: to do? What is my purpose? My calling? Like what
- 29:56Speaker 9: is it that I have on my heart to do?
- 29:57Speaker 9: Because like we're saying, you look around and you're seeing
- 30:01Speaker 9: this person doing this, you might get influenced that you
- 30:04Speaker 9: need to do it too, but you really have to
- 30:06Speaker 9: say true to what it is that you're here to do.
- 30:09Speaker 9: And something that I say is be a voice and
- 30:12Speaker 9: not an echo. You know, like you have a voice,
- 30:15Speaker 9: you have a message, you have a mission, you have
- 30:17Speaker 9: a vision. Don't like be looking and seeing what other
- 30:20Speaker 9: people are doing, because you're just going to be. You know,
- 30:23Speaker 9: like a copy is never as good as the original.
- 30:26Speaker 9: So be the original that you were created to be.
- 30:30Speaker 9: And so so yeah, don't try to be everything, don't
- 30:34Speaker 9: try to do everything. And set boundaries. That's another thing,
- 30:39Speaker 9: like you don't have to be a doormat and you know,
- 30:44Speaker 9: like fall over at everyone's feet. Set your boundaries even
- 30:48Speaker 9: with yourself. Set your boundaries whether it's like time or
- 30:53Speaker 9: energy or projects. Like just be focused, be fully focused.
- 30:59Speaker 3: Sure, definitely, Like Queen was just saying, you gotta find
- 31:03Speaker 3: your niche and keep it there staying your lane. I
- 31:06Speaker 3: had one of my old bosses tell me because I
- 31:09Speaker 3: used to run around trying to start everything and probably
- 31:12Speaker 3: finish nothing. But one of the things that he taught me,
- 31:15Speaker 3: he said, you know, shining, you got to slow down,
- 31:17Speaker 3: he said, because if you're everywhere, you're nowhere. And I
- 31:21Speaker 3: mean when he said it, I didn't catch it because
- 31:22Speaker 3: I was probably zooming in and out of the office
- 31:24Speaker 3: when he said it. But you know, as it later
- 31:27Speaker 3: caught up with me in life and again, just like
- 31:29Speaker 3: Queen's talking to me after it marinated, I kind of
- 31:33Speaker 3: understood that if you're everywhere, you're nowhere, what are you
- 31:35Speaker 3: focused on so that you can complete it and be
- 31:37Speaker 3: successful in that Because if you're everywhere, you're not solidly anywhere,
- 31:42Speaker 3: You're not focused on anything.
- 31:44Speaker 4: If you're everywhere.
- 31:45Speaker 3: Yes, So that was good, awesome, Thank you for that. Well,
- 31:51Speaker 3: Jazz and I have gotten a lot of information from
- 31:54Speaker 3: you all, but there is one question we've been holding off.
- 31:58Speaker 4: We've saved the best for last drum roll and all that.
- 32:03Speaker 3: We wanted to know from all of you, and we'll
- 32:06Speaker 3: go from Cali to Queen to Melissa. What are your
- 32:10Speaker 3: biggest fails or setbacks? During your process, and what did
- 32:15Speaker 3: you learn from them?
- 32:19Speaker 5: What has been?
- 32:20Speaker 4: What has been if they're still going on?
- 32:23Speaker 3: I mean, I know we got to keep learning, but
- 32:25Speaker 3: what has been or what are your biggest fails?
- 32:28Speaker 8: I guess during COVID because I couldn't order no clothes
- 32:31Speaker 8: because I was ordered closed from overseas, So I kind
- 32:35Speaker 8: of learned a lesson from that.
- 32:38Speaker 6: But even if I would have ordered.
- 32:39Speaker 8: I guess in town still during COVID, stuff is still
- 32:42Speaker 8: kind of messed up. So like that, I don't know
- 32:46Speaker 8: that that kind of hurt me, like big time. So
- 32:50Speaker 8: I didn't know what to do during COVID for a
- 32:52Speaker 8: whole year. So like that was like my biggest fail
- 32:55Speaker 8: during COVID. But I hate using COVID as an excuse,
- 32:59Speaker 8: like because of COVID?
- 33:01Speaker 3: Can I call that? Can I call that procrastinature? A
- 33:04Speaker 3: little bit like do you see if you would have
- 33:06Speaker 3: pre order because you saw a good thing happening for.
- 33:09Speaker 4: You, you didn't jump.
- 33:10Speaker 6: I just didn't know.
- 33:10Speaker 4: And then when it was out of time, it was
- 33:13Speaker 4: just what I was.
- 33:15Speaker 6: I was moving a lot at that time. Well I was.
- 33:19Speaker 8: Moving a lot at that time, so and then I
- 33:22Speaker 8: didn't have my store, so I was going from DC
- 33:25Speaker 8: to Colorado. I was coming back and forth, and I
- 33:29Speaker 8: didn't know what I really wanted to do at that time.
- 33:32Speaker 8: Like I know, I was wanted to do clothes, but
- 33:35Speaker 8: I was just stuck. I was just stuck. So I just, yeah,
- 33:39Speaker 8: I was just procrastinating. I was everywhere but nowhere exactly.
- 33:44Speaker 8: So that's my biggest fail. I just I guess I
- 33:47Speaker 8: just gave up. I guess, man because of COVID, But
- 33:50Speaker 8: I hate saying that because of COVID.
- 33:52Speaker 6: Because of COVID, but but I gave it.
- 33:55Speaker 4: You need something to blame. That's everybody, everybody.
- 34:00Speaker 7: It doesn't happen to be during that time.
- 34:03Speaker 6: I guess.
- 34:04Speaker 13: I mean, well, let's.
- 34:05Speaker 3: Let's let's try to flip that a little bit. If
- 34:07Speaker 3: COVID hadn't happened, what what would you see in your
- 34:10Speaker 3: processes of being an entrepreneur would be one of the
- 34:13Speaker 3: biggest fails that you saw that you you even set
- 34:16Speaker 3: yourself up, like you know, they say, don't set yourself
- 34:18Speaker 3: up for failure, But what did you see that you
- 34:20Speaker 3: maybe could have prevented something like that?
- 34:22Speaker 8: So I so that was my biggest feel. But then
- 34:24Speaker 8: I've had fails like right, before that or right right
- 34:28Speaker 8: after that. So like i'd buy like the like A close,
- 34:31Speaker 8: I think that's nice. I think that's cool, and then
- 34:34Speaker 8: I buy it and it just sits there just you
- 34:36Speaker 8: know what I mean.
- 34:36Speaker 6: On the rack, nobody buys it. Nobody assisted.
- 34:40Speaker 8: So I didn't have ideas that failed before, you know
- 34:43Speaker 8: what I mean. But then that's where you gotta come.
- 34:45Speaker 8: You got to keep coming, stay consistent, stay consistent.
- 34:49Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what that's.
- 34:50Speaker 8: When those become promos and freebie shirts, the ones that
- 34:53Speaker 8: don't sell, give them out for free, give give them
- 34:56Speaker 8: out to homeless people, give up to rappers, give back
- 34:59Speaker 8: to influencers.
- 35:00Speaker 6: Just give them out.
- 35:01Speaker 2: Man.
- 35:01Speaker 8: Hopefully the next idea hit and they'd be like, oh
- 35:04Speaker 8: I remember that name that Oh you had a different
- 35:06Speaker 8: logo this time.
- 35:08Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 35:09Speaker 6: So I kind of take my fails as as less.
- 35:12Speaker 8: I just take my fails as less as I like
- 35:14Speaker 8: failing sometimes because I'd be Okay, I'll come back from that,
- 35:17Speaker 8: because I love.
- 35:18Speaker 6: Proving people wrong. I love doing that.
- 35:20Speaker 8: That's like my goal to Like if it failed and
- 35:23Speaker 8: people were like I told you it's gonna fail, like all.
- 35:26Speaker 6: Right, cool, that wouldn't fail.
- 35:27Speaker 8: But I got more back here hold on, buddy, let
- 35:30Speaker 8: me bring this one to fouth.
- 35:31Speaker 6: So so I love that.
- 35:34Speaker 8: Yeah, I'm a grind, I'm a hustler, so I mean
- 35:36Speaker 8: I've been at the bottom. So anyway, I can't go
- 35:38Speaker 8: nowhere else but up.
- 35:41Speaker 4: Just to follow up with that, in touch on that
- 35:43Speaker 4: before we move on.
- 35:44Speaker 3: I know, I just wanted to commend you, Cally, because
- 35:48Speaker 3: I know recently you had your account hacked and.
- 35:50Speaker 4: Somebody tried to do something.
- 35:51Speaker 3: And I'm telling somebody I saluted you because you were like,
- 35:55Speaker 3: you know what, you can keep those followers and those likes,
- 35:57Speaker 3: I'll rebuild them.
- 35:58Speaker 4: And I was telling her, I said, you know that.
- 36:01Speaker 3: I mean, it's not about those followers and stuff like that,
- 36:04Speaker 3: but I know that it took you time to brand yourself,
- 36:06Speaker 3: get out there, reach certain people, and do certain things
- 36:09Speaker 3: like that, and to just give it all up and say,
- 36:11Speaker 3: not only can you keep them, but I'll double that
- 36:13Speaker 3: by next week or you know, and have that confidence in.
- 36:15Speaker 8: Yourself because I mean, I get to meet new people,
- 36:17Speaker 8: like y'all, build a new fan base.
- 36:19Speaker 6: Meeting new people.
- 36:20Speaker 8: Now I gotta go out shake hands and kissed babies again,
- 36:23Speaker 8: you know what I.
- 36:23Speaker 6: Mean, just just new people. This time, just newer people. So,
- 36:29Speaker 6: like I said, I love the grind.
- 36:30Speaker 2: I like that, bro.
- 36:31Speaker 8: It just made me grind harder, made me still my
- 36:34Speaker 8: grind man. So when that happened, actually, like I said,
- 36:37Speaker 8: it just made it just motivated me, like, man, watch this,
- 36:39Speaker 8: I'm approving, like, oh you did that, watch this. I'm
- 36:42Speaker 8: gonna do it again. I'm gonna double up on it
- 36:44Speaker 8: and I'm gonna pass you.
- 36:45Speaker 5: So did it.
- 36:46Speaker 4: Before I can do it again?
- 36:48Speaker 3: Yeah, act, well, I'm glad those people followed you back
- 36:51Speaker 3: and again it goes back to not not just what
- 36:53Speaker 3: you do, but it's how you made them feel, how
- 36:54Speaker 3: you were out there personable, being diplomatic and giving some
- 36:57Speaker 3: stuff away. So facts we appreciate y'all hearing the streets queen,
- 37:01Speaker 3: I'll ask you the same question. What was what has
- 37:05Speaker 3: been one of your biggest feels or setbacks during your process?
- 37:08Speaker 4: And then how did you learn from that?
- 37:12Speaker 5: Yeah? Yeah, yeahm.
- 37:43Speaker 16: Mm hmm, yeah, h.
- 38:16Speaker 8: Mm hmm mm hmm, yep, yep, yep. It's more organic
- 38:37Speaker 8: to you now, huh. It's it feels more organic to
- 38:39Speaker 8: you now. Yeah.
- 38:41Speaker 4: M hm.
- 38:44Speaker 16: H m hmmm mm hm h m hmmm.
- 39:02Speaker 5: Ah oh four ye uh huh.
- 40:06Speaker 16: H mm hmm.
- 40:12Speaker 1: Well, h.
- 40:15Speaker 3: Definitely those are definitely stepping stones. That was a that
- 40:19Speaker 3: was a good you stepped back a little bit, but
- 40:22Speaker 3: you you did some good step forward, So that's awesome.
- 40:24Speaker 13: Who you kept it going?
- 40:26Speaker 4: How about you, Melissa?
- 40:29Speaker 9: So it's God is again. It's funny how my step
- 40:35Speaker 9: back is similar to Kelly and to Queen as well. Well,
- 40:45Speaker 9: it's like I hacked. I essentially hacked myself in some ways,
- 40:50Speaker 9: and so I I kind of got to a point
- 40:54Speaker 9: where I just like really became strong in my faith
- 40:59Speaker 9: and I didn't think I would actually do my business anymore.
- 41:01Speaker 9: So I actually shut everything down. I closed everything, and
- 41:04Speaker 9: I stopped doing my business for a whole year because
- 41:07Speaker 9: I thought, you know, I was going to do something else.
- 41:10Speaker 9: And then I just really felt strongly like, no, there's
- 41:13Speaker 9: people out there that you need to help. There's people
- 41:16Speaker 9: out there who just need to know that they their
- 41:21Speaker 9: message matters, you know, like they have something to say
- 41:24Speaker 9: and they should be heard. There's people out there waiting
- 41:28Speaker 9: to hear them. And so yeah, so essentially the same
- 41:33Speaker 9: thing too, I had like a bigger account. I shut
- 41:35Speaker 9: it down. But what happened was my business became an idol,
- 41:41Speaker 9: and I forgot who I was, And so it took
- 41:45Speaker 9: taking that step back and seeing like, is this really
- 41:49Speaker 9: what I'm called to do? Is this really what I
- 41:51Speaker 9: have in my heart to do? Is this what God's
- 41:54Speaker 9: been telling me? Is this what God's showing me? And
- 41:57Speaker 9: just being led back to Yeah, but this time it's
- 42:01Speaker 9: with him first of all. This time, I know who
- 42:04Speaker 9: I am, and I know that who I am is
- 42:07Speaker 9: more important than what I do, because like we said before,
- 42:10Speaker 9: there's so many people who are like strategists and coaches
- 42:13Speaker 9: and have all kinds of things, but nobody has our story,
- 42:17Speaker 9: nobody has our message, nobody has our experience, and our
- 42:21Speaker 9: life is a lesson for us, but it could be
- 42:24Speaker 9: life to somebody else. You know, our story, what the
- 42:27Speaker 9: things that we go through, the trials, the ups and downs.
- 42:30Speaker 9: It's like we're here to help each other. We're here.
- 42:35Speaker 9: We were created for community. We were created to help
- 42:39Speaker 9: each other, support each other. And the way that we
- 42:42Speaker 9: love each other is with our businesses and bringing people
- 42:45Speaker 9: up and making people you know, feel good or whatever
- 42:49Speaker 9: it is, whatever it is that we're called to do.
- 42:51Speaker 9: And so so now coming back it's like coming back
- 42:56Speaker 9: with a fresh perspective, coming back with love in my heart,
- 43:00Speaker 9: coming back with a desire really to help people, Like
- 43:04Speaker 9: my focus is not what can I get, but what
- 43:06Speaker 9: can I give? And and so that's that's like a
- 43:11Speaker 9: big that was like a big key for me. It
- 43:13Speaker 9: took a step back, but with God, you know, you
- 43:16Speaker 9: take one step, he takes two.
- 43:18Speaker 4: So yeah, well that's awesome.
- 43:25Speaker 3: And like I said, a lot of the setbacks were
- 43:27Speaker 3: actually set ups, it sounds like for all of you.
- 43:30Speaker 3: And that's that's usually the floor plan to those who persist,
- 43:36Speaker 3: those who actually step out on the dance floor. So
- 43:40Speaker 3: I really hope that helps some people who needed that motivation,
- 43:44Speaker 3: that extra push to kind of keep going. We did
- 43:47Speaker 3: learn with all of you that although weapons may form,
- 43:51Speaker 3: they did not prosper. So but you're here to tell
- 43:54Speaker 3: that story because you kept going, yep. And I think
- 43:58Speaker 3: that that's something that we did gain from all of
- 44:00Speaker 3: you in this conversation is that you did have some
- 44:03Speaker 3: things that kind of pushed you back, but you kept
- 44:06Speaker 3: going and that's why you are here today to tell
- 44:09Speaker 3: this story. So we appreciate all of you and what
- 44:11Speaker 3: you have brought to the business table. And one thing
- 44:15Speaker 3: that I did like go ahead.
- 44:17Speaker 9: I'm sorry, Oh sorry, I was just gonna say a
- 44:19Speaker 9: setback is just a setup for a comeback.
- 44:22Speaker 8: So.
- 44:23Speaker 4: I like that.
- 44:25Speaker 3: Yeah, and you got to be willing and have that
- 44:28Speaker 3: passion to come back so that he can work with that. So,
- 44:32Speaker 3: like I said, I want to thank all of you
- 44:34Speaker 3: because I think one of the things that entrepreneurs need
- 44:37Speaker 3: to hear as far as how to be successful is
- 44:41Speaker 3: keep going, find your niche be unique.
- 44:44Speaker 4: Do you there are?
- 44:46Speaker 3: And like Queen pointed out, there are different there are
- 44:50Speaker 3: same occupations but different people doing it.
- 44:52Speaker 4: So it's always gonna.
- 44:53Speaker 3: Be something different brought to the table about it if
- 44:56Speaker 3: you think about it, And that's what we're trying to do,
- 44:58Speaker 3: and that's what bad to Business is about.
- 45:00Speaker 4: Out.
- 45:00Speaker 3: We've all come to the business table with different perspectives,
- 45:03Speaker 3: but we all managed to find the same common ground.
- 45:06Speaker 3: So if you think about a company, everybody's different and
- 45:08Speaker 3: they work for the same company and they all have
- 45:10Speaker 3: different perspectives. So just because you work for the same
- 45:14Speaker 3: company do the same thing. You all work in accounting,
- 45:16Speaker 3: but you all have a different way of doing something
- 45:19Speaker 3: and making that business thrive. So again, we just want
- 45:22Speaker 3: to thank you guys for coming on the show. I
- 45:24Speaker 3: see we've gone a little bit over time, but it
- 45:25Speaker 3: was well worth it. Well yes, I said, waiting took
- 45:30Speaker 3: this show. We've had some entrepreneurs that didn't get to join.
- 45:33Speaker 3: But this is just volume one. We will follow up
- 45:36Speaker 3: with that and we'd love to do a follow up
- 45:38Speaker 3: show with.
- 45:39Speaker 13: You all in the future.
- 45:41Speaker 3: See how your business is doing, and see how things
- 45:44Speaker 3: are going, see if we can ask some more questions,
- 45:46Speaker 3: maybe some follow up questions, and see how things have
- 45:48Speaker 3: changed in the market or with your business, or if
- 45:50Speaker 3: there's any way that you can reach out and help somebody,
- 45:52Speaker 3: that'd be great. What I love about you all, you entrepreneurs,
- 45:55Speaker 3: is that you have found a way or at somehow,
- 45:58Speaker 3: some way before you became successful, or even in your success,
- 46:01Speaker 3: have found a way to reach back and bring some
- 46:04Speaker 3: people back with you, like Melissa and I was talking about,
- 46:08Speaker 3: and I'll tell anybody listening, we're trying to reverse that
- 46:10Speaker 3: crab mentality. Instead of you know, bringing people down, we
- 46:13Speaker 3: want to bring them up, you know, so reach one,
- 46:16Speaker 3: teach many.
- 46:17Speaker 4: So again, thank you all for tuning in. I am
- 46:20Speaker 4: your host, Shining Saffron.
- 46:21Speaker 3: We will be following up with follow information so you
- 46:24Speaker 3: can follow, Uh Cali, you want to go ahead and
- 46:26Speaker 3: give your follow information.

- 46:52Speaker 8: And I just want to say, uh, speaking of giving back,
- 46:56Speaker 8: like with your product, I got this project I just
- 46:58Speaker 8: did call Blocorado while worked with all the top artists
- 47:01Speaker 8: out here and I put a mixtape the other for them,
- 47:03Speaker 8: like I sponsored them with all my clothes and everything.
- 47:06Speaker 8: So just like you said, just bringing people together and
- 47:09Speaker 8: nobody's never done that in the whole state of Colorado before.
- 47:12Speaker 8: So kind of make history with my brand being an
- 47:15Speaker 8: entrepreneur when I close the brand bringing something together like this,
- 47:19Speaker 8: So stay.
- 47:20Speaker 2: Tuned for that.
- 47:21Speaker 6: If you hear black Parade, that came from me, all right,
- 47:25Speaker 6: and we're gonna.

- 47:50Speaker 4: the replays that we have to right, we all heard.
- 47:52Speaker 13: You though, man, yes she is, yes, yes, thank you, thanks.

- 50:09Speaker 4: You reached back and got some other people.
- 50:11Speaker 3: And that's what seems to be a root of your success,
