- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Cantonese with Fexingo. I'm Lucas, and as always, I'm here with my favourite beach buddy, Luna. Luna: And I'm Luna. We've been having so much fun at the beach lately, from collecting shells to building sandcastles and even swimming in the waves. Lucas: Yeah, and today we're going to talk about something perfect for a sunny day like this — sunbathing. Luna: Ooh, I love a good sunbathing session. But I always forget the right words in Cantonese. What's the word for sunbathing, Lucas? Lucas: The word for sunbathing is 日光浴. Let's say it together: 日光浴. Luna: 日光浴. That's fun to say. 日光浴. Lucas: Exactly. Now, if you want to say 'I want to sunbathe', you say 我想日光浴. 我 means I, 想 means want, and 日光浴 is sunbathing. So 我想日光浴. Luna: 我想日光浴. I want to sunbathe. That's going to be useful on my next beach day. Lucas: For sure. And before you sunbathe, you need to protect your eyes, right? The word for sunglasses is 太陽眼鏡. Repeat after me: 太陽眼鏡. Luna: 太陽眼鏡. Sounds fancy. I need my 太陽眼鏡. Lucas: Exactly. So if you want to say 'I need sunglasses', it's 我需要太陽眼鏡. 我 is I, 需要 means need, and 太陽眼鏡 is sunglasses. So 我需要太陽眼鏡. Luna: 我需要太陽眼鏡. I need sunglasses. Okay, I'm going to say that to myself before I leave the house. Lucas: Good idea. And one more important thing — sunscreen. Do you know how to say sunscreen in Cantonese? Luna: I have no idea. Is it something like 防曬? Lucas: You're close. Sunscreen is 防曬. And to ask 'Do you have sunscreen?', you say 你有冇防曬. 你 is you, 有冇 means do you have, and 防曬 is sunscreen. So 你有冇防曬. Luna: 你有冇防曬. That's a handy question. I always forget to bring my own. Lucas: Right. Let's put all these together in a little scene. Imagine we're on the beach, and I say to you, '我想日光浴'. Luna: And I reply, '我需要太陽眼鏡'. Lucas: Then I ask, '你有冇防曬?' Luna: And I say, '我有防曬' — wait, is that right? I have sunscreen. Lucas: Exactly. 我有防曬. You're a natural. Luna: This is so much fun. I feel like I'm actually preparing for a real beach trip. Lucas: And that's the goal. These phrases will help you enjoy a sunny day without getting burned — or lost for words. Luna: Absolutely. And if today was useful to you, you know what keeps us going? Listener support. It's what keeps this show ad-free. You can help us by buying us a coffee at buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. Lucas: Yeah, that genuinely means the world to us. Even one coffee helps us keep making these little lessons. Luna: So next time you're at the beach, don't forget your 太陽眼鏡 and your 防曬, and try using 我想日光浴. I know I will. Lucas: And if you need them, you can say 我需要太陽眼鏡 or ask 你有冇防曬. Practice these until we meet again. See you next time. Luna: Bye for now, and happy sunbathing.
