- 0:00it's laced up let's go it's time for banter with
- 0:04the boys yo yo welcome back to banter with the
- 0:17boys fast apps that was so ugly dude you should
- 0:23have seen it in person it was even worse mike's
- 0:25back this week For the hungry recap and some
- 0:29summer break action. Hello, I'm here. Hungry.
- 0:32Feeling more aerodynamic. Yeah, okay. Yeah. Yeah.
- 0:35You're back from perishing last week because
- 0:37Joe said you perished. I did. Which is ridiculous.
- 0:41What? I liked your comment, by the way, about
- 0:44I was doing my best Carlos Sainz impression.
- 0:47That actively made me laugh out loud. Yes. Was
- 0:49it a painful laugh? No. Oh, good. That's good.
- 0:53We're glad that laughing doesn't hurt you, only
- 0:55sneezing. I was telling my mom, too, when we
- 0:57were sitting in the emergency room, I was like,
- 0:59am I going to make it to F1 tonight? She's like,
- 1:01is that really your concern right now? Of course
- 1:04it's the number one concern. Unbelievable. Wearing
- 1:08the Nasson hat, no less. They had a great weekend.
- 1:10They did. We're going to talk about it. Yeah,
- 1:12I mean, just because you said emergency room,
- 1:15you had your appendix removed. Congratulations.
- 1:17Thank you. Hence, I'm more aerodynamic. Carlos,
- 1:19I'm suppression. Oh, no. do we congratulate on
- 1:24i am i mean congrats that it went well yeah yeah
- 1:28yeah all right hey you're here now right yeah
- 1:30Thank you. Joe's here. He has an appendix. I
- 1:34still have my appendix. Kev, what's up? No, I'm
- 1:36just kidding. That was crazy. Everybody just
- 1:39thinks I hate Joe, and that's just not true.
- 1:42Well, I think we're going to really up the stakes
- 1:44next year and just like, you just don't even
- 1:47introduce me anymore. You just start talking
- 1:49about practice or whatever. New hat for you.
- 1:54New hat. Yeah, I was at the... I was at Road
- 1:57America for the IMSA sports car weekend. How
- 2:00was that? It was fun. Worth the road trip out
- 2:03there? We stay from Thursday to Sunday, and by
- 2:07Saturday, I'm raced out, and I'm ready to go
- 2:10home. But Sunday was actually fun because it
- 2:12was just pure racing. There was no practice.
- 2:14There was no shenanigans. That was nice. We had
- 2:17four races to watch, so that was kind of cool.
- 2:19Now, you guys said you rent a golf cart, right?
- 2:21We do. And that makes a huge difference. Oh,
- 2:24my God. Our first year, we walked, and that was
- 2:26a nightmare. And then the second year, it was
- 2:29just me and my buddy. It was just two of us.
- 2:30We rented the golf cart, and it was a game changer.
- 2:34everything yeah that's awesome okay yeah no we
- 2:36were like oh like i mean we hit every single
- 2:38spot like around the track because it was you
- 2:40know minutes away yeah yeah it's accessible now
- 2:43yeah yeah so it was a good time rather than exactly
- 2:4530 minutes exactly it was a good time i did i
- 2:48did have a lot of racing because i still tried
- 2:50to watch quali and then the race it's a lot of
- 2:52racing yeah i watched i watched the f1 race in
- 2:55between The second to last race of the day on
- 3:00Sunday and the main race, the sports car race.
- 3:03I don't think you missed too much, but every
- 3:05time I say that, we somehow nitpick all these
- 3:08little things and we make it a thing. I watched
- 3:10it all. I just don't have crazy notes, so I might
- 3:12be leaning on you two a little bit more. I'm
- 3:14going to probably go off on McLaren, but you
- 3:18guys have to cover everything else. That's fine.
- 3:19Go off on McLaren. Whatever. Anyway, again, Kev's
- 3:23here. He gets two shout -outs. Kev still has
- 3:28his appendix. Smelty also has his appendix. This
- 3:32is the reason why I'm the fastest here at this
- 3:34table. Yes. Expect him to now be flying. I'm
- 3:37already flying. All right. Wait, you got something
- 3:40else? No. Oh, you look like you're about to say
- 3:42something about appendixes. I was going to say
- 3:44he's flying. Got it. Kev, let's head into our
- 3:48not Belgian recap. I didn't change it. The Hungaroring
- 3:51recap. While we were gone, Mike, you had something
- 4:08to say about Joseph? No. I don't think I want
- 4:11to say it anymore. No, we were in the intermission.
- 4:14I was just saying I didn't get a chance to say
- 4:15it, but I liked his hat, too. It's a good hat.
- 4:17I like that hat. He thought about it, though.
- 4:19He wasn't going to say it on air. I don't feel
- 4:22comfortable saying this. I don't like being nice
- 4:24to him. I don't feel comfortable saying this.
- 4:26Can we cut that out in post? That's so funny.
- 4:28Okay, mark it. Yeah, we'll cut it out. Don't
- 4:30worry. yeah no uh so quality practice yada yada
- 4:38uh i mean for me i'm sorry go for it no no please
- 4:43please please alpine sucks that's it alpine is
- 4:46not doing very well right now unfortunately we'll
- 4:49get into them don't worry about it rubbish i
- 4:51had a i had an i realized something earlier um
- 4:54alpine is the only team this year in the bottom
- 4:57five teams who hasn't touched sixth place Like
- 5:01above? Like six or above? No, like finish six.
- 5:05This season. They haven't been in six plays at
- 5:07all this season. No, no, no. As a constructor.
- 5:10Oh. In a Grand Prix, they haven't finished 6th
- 5:15or better as a constructor. So far, every other
- 5:17team has at some point been in 6th for the constructors.
- 5:21This season. This season. Alpine has just been
- 5:27pulling up the rear. They're doing a really stand
- 5:31-up job at Caboose right now. It's looking pretty
- 5:35good. That's rough. They still have points on
- 5:39the board. They just need a good race and they're
- 5:40ahead of... possible it's crazy that they are
- 5:43in last but still have 20 points yep i think
- 5:47that's that like 20 points would have put them
- 5:48in like eighth last year right i can't at this
- 5:53point in the season i can't remember i know you're
- 5:56right i think you're right i think i'm gonna
- 5:57i'm gonna double check right now i'm gonna go
- 5:59to 2024 i have constructors pulled up um it would
- 6:03have put them in ninth Yes. It would have put
- 6:07them in ninth because Mercedes or Williams had
- 6:0917 points last season. So it would have put them
- 6:12in ninth. Still, either way, not competing with
- 6:15the rest of the field. But crazy. But crazy nonetheless.
- 6:20Crazier. That's all I really had for practice
- 6:22anyway. Leclerc getting pole. Was that something
- 6:27we had on our bingo cards? No, not at all. It
- 6:29was like just like a crazy, really good lap out
- 6:32of nowhere. Maybe you guys didn't. this doesn't
- 6:38age well considering that he didn't finish on
- 6:40the podium i knew he was gonna have a good weekend
- 6:44and i was really glad at first when i heard that
- 6:46you guys didn't put him on your podium so i was
- 6:47like yes and then it didn't matter thinking that
- 6:50he was slick i thought i was but after pole i
- 6:53bet yeah it looked pretty good it looked pretty
- 6:55good and the start wasn't horrible but it quickly
- 6:58got out of hand for him for the player it was
- 7:00such a bummer um So, yeah, that's just not without
- 7:04further ado. Let's just dive into it here. Should
- 7:09we start? Yeah, we're going to start from last
- 7:11to first. Haas? Alpine. Gasly finished. Oh, yeah,
- 7:20you're right. It is Haas, technically. Biermann
- 7:22retiring and Ocon finishing P16. Yeah. What do
- 7:27you got on Haas? Rough weekend. Rough weekend.
- 7:30It happens. Actually, Ocon had some pace for
- 7:33a while and then just kind of fell back. I think
- 7:35he lost out in strategy. It is what it is. Not
- 7:41their best track. They came into this track knowing
- 7:43that they weren't going to do super well. With
- 7:46how competitive all the bottom teams are, you're
- 7:49going to have good weekends. You're going to
- 7:50have bad ones. I've got a question for you. I
- 7:52have an answer for you. You're typically the
- 7:53guy that brings news on if teams are done upgrading
- 7:58or if they have future upgrades. Do you know
- 8:00where Haas is at with that? I've heard no news.
- 8:02I tend to not hear anything about Haas because
- 8:04people don't talk about them. Fair enough. It's
- 8:06really hard for me to find news on Haas. They
- 8:08just don't get a lot of news time. I think they're
- 8:11actively still upgrading, last I heard. I think
- 8:14they've still got some more small teams. upgrades
- 8:15coming i kind of hope they stop and just focus
- 8:18on next year but um c 'est la vie c 'est la vie
- 8:23they may need the money they may not have a choice
- 8:26but to keep upgrading i think at toyota uh obviously
- 8:30beerman retiring uh said came out some i didn't
- 8:33find exactly what it was but it came out of some
- 8:35quote mechanical problem yep he came out and
- 8:38said i was just surviving And then I put something
- 8:42stupid in here that says, but was he even driving
- 8:45to surviving, though? That's dumb. That's so
- 8:47dumb. He had rear floor damage. Rear floor damage.
- 8:51Okay. How did you? What did you? I literally
- 8:53just typed, why did Bearman retire in Hungary?
- 8:56I swear that's what I did. Why is my AI not as
- 8:58smart as your AI? It's definitely not the same
- 9:00one. That's for sure. The VF25 sustained rear
- 9:02floor damage. Impossible. I feel like if I remember
- 9:04correctly, too, at the start, he was actually
- 9:06like. He was going really fast, too, wasn't he?
- 9:09I thought he started pretty decent. Oh, Ollie?
- 9:11Yeah, I thought he had a decent start to the
- 9:13race. I don't remember offhand. And then he started
- 9:17falling back because he was having problems with
- 9:19his floor, and then they decided to retire him.
- 9:24Don't know. Doesn't matter. He DNF'd. Ha sucks.
- 9:27He had a good opportunity because he was in 10th
- 9:31when he pit. and he was on fresher tires than
- 9:34everyone else. He ended up back in 17th after
- 9:36his pit. He had the tires to get ahead. Granted,
- 9:40Verstappen had really bad trouble with traffic.
- 9:43He might have also had bad trouble with traffic,
- 9:45but we just wouldn't know because of the floor
- 9:48damage. Yeah, that's rough. Yeah, it is what
- 9:51it is. Alpine. Gasly. I'm sorry. Colpinto first,
- 9:57P18, Gasly P19. I looked up the pronunciation
- 10:01of this in French before the show, and I'm going
- 10:05to butcher it. It's like, It means, what, trash,
- 10:10rubbish. So I figured that it was worth it for
- 10:13me to look that up. That's why I'm not wearing
- 10:15my Alpine hat today. I believe in French we call
- 10:17that performance merde. Awesome. All I said here
- 10:22is, oh, Franco got into Q2. Whatever. I mean,
- 10:26that's pretty much, if there's any shining light,
- 10:28I don't even consider that a shining light. Hence
- 10:31why I'm wearing a NASCAR hat today. rather than
- 10:34an Alpine hat. We need to get you a better hat,
- 10:36buddy. I need to just order my Mercedes hat.
- 10:38Anyway, let's see here. Hmm. Who was in P17?
- 10:46Oh, wow. We're talking about Red Bull. The Max
- 10:48Bulls. The Max Bulls. Max Verstappen, P9, Yuki,
- 10:51P17. Is this you, Joe, that wrote? the king is
- 10:56dead long live the king yeah it's such a bad
- 11:01go of it i mean he got it's not even his fault
- 11:04either talk about him soon but he got no we can
- 11:06talk about him now we got overtaken by lawson
- 11:08i mean at some point i think it was all during
- 11:10the pit stop strategy but he just had he just
- 11:12couldn't get through the traffic when he pit
- 11:14and he complained about it and that was like
- 11:16all i heard from him the entire race and he just
- 11:18stayed back did not get a lot of screen time
- 11:20No, he really didn't. Other than some of his
- 11:22very aggressive passes, one of which was on Hamilton,
- 11:25which was pretty gnarly. Again, you've got to
- 11:27have big clunas for the pass he was trying to
- 11:30do. He was passing, you know? I'm 50 -50 on the
- 11:33Hamilton one, though. What do you think about
- 11:36that? Because it seemed like he pushed Hamilton
- 11:37real wide and pushed him straight off the track.
- 11:40It was really hard to see. It was really hard
- 11:43to catch if it was anything at all. The angle
- 11:46they kept showing, I could not tell if any contact
- 11:49was made. It doesn't look like it. Hamilton didn't
- 11:53really say anything about it. Hamilton didn't
- 11:55really say anything. The stewards decided to
- 11:58not do anything about it. In post -race interviews,
- 12:00they asked Max about it. Max basically said...
- 12:04I didn't think there was anything wrong with
- 12:05it. I mean, yeah, I kind of dived it, but, you
- 12:08know, that's just racing. He went for it, and
- 12:09it held on. Nothing came of it. He ran off the
- 12:12road, but that's just racing. That's how it goes
- 12:15sometimes. And then... They asked Lewis Hamilton
- 12:19about it, too, and Lewis goes, oh, I'm going
- 12:20to be real. I totally forgot that happened. But
- 12:23he had a rough day. Clearly, the drivers were
- 12:26completely non -miffed about it. Max didn't care.
- 12:29Max was like, that's just racing, and Lewis didn't
- 12:31care because Lewis was like, hey, I was more
- 12:34focused on everything else that was happening.
- 12:35That was just one of many things. It could have
- 12:37very easily just been Max, just rather Lewis
- 12:39just being like, my race is not with him. I'm
- 12:42just going to go wide so I don't end both of
- 12:44our races. Which could be, and maybe it just
- 12:45looked more. More dramatic than it was, but there's
- 12:48another pass. I thought it was another Ferrari,
- 12:52but I can't remember who else it was on, but
- 12:54Max was just sending it. I mean, just aggressive
- 12:57drive, trying to do what he can, still somehow
- 12:59fighting to stay in the points. I mean, when's
- 13:02the last time we've seen him end further back
- 13:05than he started? Oh, this is weird. P9 is really
- 13:07weird to see the king. I think they said this
- 13:10is his worst finish since... I believe it. I
- 13:13don't care when. Was it 2017? Wow, that would
- 13:17actually be a really long time. His worst finish?
- 13:19His worst finish. Outside of not finishing. Outside
- 13:22of not finishing, right, because that's not a
- 13:24finish. That's not a finish, right. That's crazy.
- 13:27Actually, no, that's a lie. He finished outside
- 13:29of the points in an earlier race this season,
- 13:31didn't he? He DNF'd in Austria. Right? No, this
- 13:40is 2020. Yeah, 2025, he DNF'd in Austria. I'm
- 13:42not even trying to remember right now. He got
- 13:4310th in Spain. Yeah, he got 10th in Spain, so
- 13:47he didn't do well in Spain or Austria. Yeah,
- 13:50so either way, bad finish. Feels bad. Feels bad.
- 13:54Feels bad. Well, he's got stuff to look forward
- 13:57to coming out of summer. Just the first track,
- 13:59I guess. But anyway, Williams signs finishing
- 14:03P14, Albon, Albin. We had a debate about that
- 14:07real quick. It lasted about 10 seconds last week.
- 14:09Is it Albon or Albin? It's Albon. Albon. Okay.
- 14:14Williams, not in points. Didn't look awesome.
- 14:18Yeah, Albon started eighth, but just could not.
- 14:22Oh, wait, no. Did he start eighth? I don't think
- 14:24so. I'm looking at the wrong thing. I have so
- 14:25many tabs open. I apologize. No, it's okay. It's
- 14:28good for your RAM. I mean, I have a lot of it,
- 14:31so it doesn't matter. Okay. Make sure to download
- 14:33one. You don't even know. Qualifying, both of
- 14:38them. Signs in 13th. and albon in 20th so yeah
- 14:46but neither of them i mean they made albon gain
- 14:50positions right signs didn't um signs is still
- 14:53kind of struggling in the williams unfortunately
- 14:55but albon has shown promise he just needs to
- 14:58he was i mean he was i mean there must have been
- 15:01an issue in his qualifying lap he was a tenth
- 15:04and a half off the pace of hulkenberg and in
- 15:07qualifying so you know there was something going
- 15:09on there Just a bad weekend for him. I think
- 15:12he's consistently getting pretty into Q2, Q3,
- 15:16and then getting low points most of the races.
- 15:19I would agree. I'm chalking it to a bad weekend
- 15:21for Albon, and then Sainz is just kind of stuck.
- 15:24What is going on with Sainz? I think it's the
- 15:27same thing that's going on with Lewis. It's just
- 15:30growing pain. Really, really, really bad growing
- 15:33pain. And I think, I hope they both get better
- 15:36with new regs. I think Lewis might get worse,
- 15:41unfortunately. Really? Just a gut feeling? He
- 15:44did really badly with these ones. I don't have
- 15:47any good proof to say he'll do really good with
- 15:49the new ones. Crazy talk. Does he consider retirement
- 15:53at the end of this season? I bet he's considering
- 15:56it right now. Just the mindset that he was in
- 16:01at the end of the race. It was rough. Let me
- 16:03rephrase. I don't think he's seriously considering
- 16:06retirement right now. I'm sure it was just like,
- 16:09I might as well retire. We're seeing the decline.
- 16:11Yeah, maybe a little bit. More than maybe just
- 16:13the car. Let's hope we're wrong. I think we see
- 16:15him finish out next season, for sure. Oh, yeah.
- 16:17Like, no doubt, because he's planning. He wants
- 16:21Ferrari to focus on next season. He wants them
- 16:24to just forego this season and focus on next
- 16:26season so that they can have a championship -winning
- 16:28car next season. And then... If next season doesn't
- 16:32turn out very good, then I think we see him drive
- 16:35one more season. And if that season also is a
- 16:37struggle, then that will be the season. Then
- 16:39he drives one more season. No. I think 2027 is
- 16:42potentially his last season. Okay. Fair enough.
- 16:47And if he does win championship next season,
- 16:50I think he pulls a Sebastian Vettel and just
- 16:54goes, thanks, guys. I'm out. I'll take my number
- 16:56eight and leave. Maybe, yeah. That's his last
- 17:00goal, right? He just wants to get that one more.
- 17:02Yeah. I think it's good that he's realizing that
- 17:06it's not the car, it's him, because, I mean,
- 17:08he was right. Leclerc was fighting for the win
- 17:12during some of that race, and Hamilton was nowhere
- 17:15near so dominant. Let's talk about Ferrari real
- 17:17quick, since we're already on him. Yeah, I mean,
- 17:19we've already touched on Hamilton a little bit.
- 17:21Just some quotes of his, feels useless and glad
- 17:23it's over, shows that he's just really struggling
- 17:26in the Ferrari car at the moment. But, yeah,
- 17:29I mean, LeClaire coming out with that pull. Again,
- 17:32I thought, if I remember correctly, he thought
- 17:33he had a decent start, but it just quickly got
- 17:37away from him. And, unfortunately, when, I don't
- 17:40remember if it was, I think it was Oscar. Or,
- 17:44no, it was George. I mean, the late battle between
- 17:47George and Charles was actually kind of fun to
- 17:49watch. And Charles was fighting for his life.
- 17:52Literally fighting for his life. He couldn't
- 17:54do anything more. And that's the sad part, and
- 17:57that's where we kind of seen him have his Not
- 17:59a meltdown, right, but a little bit of a good
- 18:02calm segment, you know, just kind of freaking
- 18:05out a little bit, telling him to trust him more
- 18:07and all this and that. But, you know, at the
- 18:09end of the day, I think today actually I saw
- 18:11that he kind of took out. He tried to take all
- 18:14that back. He was like, I was just frustrated
- 18:15type of deal and didn't really want to say all
- 18:17that. But obviously we've seen with many drivers
- 18:20when you're in the heat of the moment, things
- 18:22will come out. Well, on top of it, too, he was
- 18:24under the impression that. uh a setup option
- 18:27wasn't they didn't listen to him in a setup option
- 18:29and that's why he was so heated when in reality
- 18:32there was something wrong with the car and so
- 18:34that's why his performance fell off super hard
- 18:36after that first pit and so because of that uh
- 18:40he was misinterpreting what was wrong with the
- 18:43car and he came out even directly after the race
- 18:46and post race interviews and was like yep I was
- 18:48wrong. He did say that post -race. I didn't even
- 18:51see that. He was basically like, I was wrong.
- 18:54I thought that they didn't listen to me in the
- 18:56change that I wanted. Come to find out there
- 18:58was just something fundamentally wrong with the
- 19:00car today. Not even for the whole day. Just after
- 19:04lap 40. I didn't look up anything. I just read
- 19:08up. Apparently, they're guessing chassis issues.
- 19:12There hasn't been anything concrete yet. So that
- 19:18was it. And he pretty much came out right afterwards
- 19:20like, yep, that's on me. So it's a bummer. It
- 19:25was a really good showing from him, though. Charles
- 19:27is so good. He had a good weekend for the most
- 19:29part. Let's see here. Who we got? Who we got?
- 19:34Who we got? Kick Sauber. We do. Kick fan. We
- 19:38do. Nico Hulkenberg and Gabriel Bortoletto. Nico
- 19:41in 13th and Gabby in 6th. It's crazy. Bortoletto
- 19:48in sixth was not on my bingo card. He qualified
- 19:51seventh, didn't he? I think that's right. I think
- 19:56he qualified seventh and went up to sixth. Overtaking
- 19:59Max. Getting ahead of Max. Well, actually, he
- 20:03was ahead of Max to begin with. Yeah, so Nico
- 20:08Halkenberg, bad drive. It happens. Rough track.
- 20:12He just didn't perform. It is what it is. He'll
- 20:15move past it. I mean, he started 19th. I mean,
- 20:18true. Yeah, he did make a lot of positions. Nico's
- 20:20still showing. And a track that clearly was not
- 20:22super easy to overtake on. So, like, Nico's still
- 20:25showing that his race craft is much better than
- 20:27his qualifying pace. Bortoletto had a really
- 20:29good weekend, too. He had really good free practices,
- 20:32too. I mean, he was top ten the whole—all three,
- 20:34I think. All weekend, yeah. I'm pretty sure.
- 20:35He was dominant all weekend. He was right next
- 20:38to Alonzo all freaking weekend, actually, pretty
- 20:40much, which is funny. Yeah, it was super, super
- 20:44crazy good weekend. And now a lot of people are
- 20:45coming out and starting to notice Bortoletto
- 20:48and are talking about him, which is really exciting
- 20:50for me because he was a rookie that I was really
- 20:53looking forward to. He was probably my most anticipated
- 20:56rookie. for performance and whatnot. He's not
- 21:01my favorite rookie of the year right now, but...
- 21:04He's at least starting to put that idea in your
- 21:07brain, though, the way he's driving as of late.
- 21:09He's starting to show that that faith I put in
- 21:13him at the beginning of the season was not unfounded.
- 21:15I was expecting these kind of performances when
- 21:17they moved to Audi. I was expecting to see him
- 21:20maybe get a sixth here or there once they moved
- 21:22to Audi, but him doing it in the kicks over is
- 21:25crazy. I can't wait to see that first Audi livery.
- 21:28I'm so excited. You have no clue how excited
- 21:30I am. What do you want it to look like? Silver
- 21:33and red. Silver and red. Nice. That is very Audi
- 21:36coding. Yeah, I think it's going to be red. It's
- 21:41got to have red. It's got to have red, which
- 21:43sucks because that means that we're going to
- 21:45have three red cars on the grid again. I was
- 21:47talking about it this weekend with some friends.
- 21:49I mean, Audi has a lot of really good colors,
- 21:52but their mock -up when they entered, it was
- 21:55like a red car, I think. Red and silver, like
- 21:57you said. So I'm guessing it's probably going
- 21:59to be reddish of some sort. I'm assuming so as
- 22:02well. They have a really good yellow, though.
- 22:03They have a really good green. Yeah, they have
- 22:05a good blue. It'd be cool if they kept the green.
- 22:07I'd be happy with that. That would be cool. Keep
- 22:09the light kick green. It'd be probably a little
- 22:12darker, probably closer to Aston. I'm cool with
- 22:15that. I like green. I prefer green to red. Next.
- 22:20uh racing bulls i suppose because we talked about
- 22:22ferrari so uh joe you want to talk about liam
- 22:25i don't know there's much to talk about i think
- 22:27he just like his strategy was just better i mean
- 22:29he's his buddy uh i mean i'm sorry yeah lawson
- 22:35i mean yeah he just he didn't he didn't do anything
- 22:36wrong and so he got a good place right i think
- 22:39that's it second race in a row he got p8 Yeah,
- 22:42I think so. I think so. For all the hate he's
- 22:46gotten on Banter with the boys, he must be an
- 22:48avid listener. So it's just like turning it around,
- 22:51shoving it back in our face. Yeah, I guess so.
- 22:53Hadjar, you know, quality in the top 10, couldn't
- 22:56quite keep it in points, though. And he had a
- 22:59really bad race last weekend. Hopefully you can
- 23:02kind of get that back together because, you know,
- 23:04his name could be in the ring for quote unquote
- 23:06rookie of the year with guys like Antonelli,
- 23:09Bierman, you know, all of them. Who knows? But
- 23:11at this point, who knows? There's nine more,
- 23:1310 more races left. Excuse me. Realistically,
- 23:15this is what we should be seeing from racing
- 23:18bulls. They're like, no, for sure. Like, you
- 23:21know, not quite, not quite rookie, but like half
- 23:25rookie driver getting very low points and their
- 23:27rookie driver getting close. Like, yeah, that's
- 23:29great. That's, that's, that's what that. It's
- 23:31what your standard should be. Yeah, 100%. 100%.
- 23:35Yeah, I would say Lawson's, he's finally making
- 23:38up for some lost points. Some lost times, yeah.
- 23:41I will give... lawson the only flower that apparently
- 23:45um a petal of a flower a petal of a flower that
- 23:48when he came into the v -carb it all happened
- 23:50really fast right they did it like overnight
- 23:53just yuki and liam swap seats right and so because
- 23:56that that meant that neither driver was able
- 23:58to really do much adjusting their cars into getting
- 24:02a car into a comfortable place for them and now
- 24:04v -carb has had some time to change their cars
- 24:07and apparently um A couple races ago, they found
- 24:11a really good suspension setup for Liam that
- 24:14had him very comfortable in the car. So they
- 24:16put that new suspension in this car. And ever
- 24:19since they put that in, he's been driving well.
- 24:22Okay. That's interesting. That's good. So it
- 24:24could have literally or literally have just been
- 24:27the fact his poor performances could have been
- 24:29just. The car wasn't made for him, and now they're
- 24:32making it for him. So we might see some more
- 24:34performances like this. Man, it's crazy what
- 24:36keeping a driver in a seat long enough can do.
- 24:40Yeah, wild. I think we should swap out Liam Lawson
- 24:44for Arvid Lindblad. Yeah, I think we should probably
- 24:51swap out Gasly for Duane. Just put him in. Give
- 24:56him a shot. Might as well. Yeah, you're just,
- 25:00like, benching Gasly for the rest of the season
- 25:02type of deal. You don't want him to get injured.
- 25:04You're saving him for next season. Yeah, you're
- 25:06saving him for next season. We're conserving
- 25:08him to make sure he doesn't get hurt. It's so
- 25:09funny. Let's see. Yeah, Mercedes, okay. Decent
- 25:15weekend recovery I put here for Antonelli after
- 25:18kind of a disappointing quali, but him and George
- 25:20had pretty good practices all weekend, so that
- 25:24quali is just disappointing, and then Antonelli
- 25:26trying to fight to get in the points. It's just...
- 25:28I don't know. But I guess it's okay, you know,
- 25:31for him, considering last weekend was bad, really
- 25:34bad. So good little bounce back for him and George.
- 25:39George grabbing another podium and able to pass
- 25:43Charles. I mean, the second time didn't look
- 25:46very difficult. Yeah, Charles gave it to him
- 25:48a little bit. Actually, Charles gave it to him
- 25:50pretty good. A lot of it. Maybe a little too
- 25:53much. Yeah, that's right. He kind of. Tapped
- 25:55him a little bit. I don't know. A little Robbins
- 25:57racing action. Good thing I wore my NASCAR hat.
- 26:01George Russell. I mean, I can't be mad about
- 26:06that for Mercedes, I think. After last weekend.
- 26:08It's better than last weekend. That's all you
- 26:10can do. You're heading into summer now. Regroup.
- 26:13What are we looking at, constructors? You don't
- 26:15happen to have that. I do. Thank God, both of
- 26:18you. Mercedes is in third with 236 points. Ferrari,
- 26:2224 points behind Ferrari. Correct. I mean, that's
- 26:29attainable with a floundering Lewis right now.
- 26:32I want to point out, too, I felt really good
- 26:35about this. I went and checked what I recommended
- 26:38for my F1 standings. Oh, my God. Yeah. And my
- 26:42prediction was McLaren to Ferrari to Mercedes
- 26:45to Red Bull. And wouldn't you guess how it is
- 26:47set up right now? Which is crazy. Your prediction
- 26:50was McLaren to Ferrari to Mercedes to Red Bull?
- 26:52Yeah. So I'm going to go ahead and just, you
- 26:54know, really quick. You just said something about
- 26:58Mercedes catching up to Ferrari. Yeah, 24 .2.
- 27:01And then you just said that the current position
- 27:04is what you would. thought it would be. Mercedes
- 27:06is consistently doing okay. I mean, Russell's
- 27:10consistently up there. Antonelli is here or there.
- 27:12Fighting for points. And then Ferrari is, like,
- 27:15very all over the place, especially with Lewis.
- 27:18Charles is... more consistent lately like we
- 27:22i think we've seen some recently we've seen some
- 27:24worse showings i think a little bit maybe um
- 27:27i mean yeah does mercedes catch up to ferrari
- 27:29it might even out it might be a race for second
- 27:32yeah i mean after this weekend i'm kind of convinced
- 27:34that ferrari's found like a good setting and
- 27:36then lewis just needs to catch up and then they'll
- 27:38be set, and they'll probably keep their position.
- 27:41But Mercedes could also kind of have a breakthrough
- 27:43at any point. So my only dispute— There's one
- 27:47team getting in the way that we haven't talked
- 27:48about yet. My only dispute to all of that is
- 27:51I think right now there's a lot of hindsight
- 27:52bias with how good Mercedes did this last weekend.
- 27:55And I think the only reason Mercedes did this
- 27:58last weekend, or the only reason they did as
- 28:00good as they did this last weekend, was because
- 28:02of weather. Like, we were expecting this weekend
- 28:05to be hot. And some rain came in the night before
- 28:08the race, cooled down the track a lot, and it
- 28:10was cool track temperatures, which is where the
- 28:14Mercedes thrives. And I think that that happenstance
- 28:19happened to allow George Russell and the rest
- 28:22of the Mercedes to thrive. Sorry, Joe's messing
- 28:27with stuff. During Mike's take. Unbelievable.
- 28:30That's interesting. Call your mom. We have a
- 28:32lot of cold races coming up. Do we? We also have
- 28:35a lot of hot races coming up. That's true. We
- 28:36are going back to the Middle East. We are, but
- 28:39then we're coming back. We're also going to Mexico
- 28:41and Cota, which are both incredibly hot tracks.
- 28:43I don't know if they're incredibly hot. They're
- 28:45also later in the year. Texas in July? Texas
- 28:48in August? It's not going to be August either.
- 28:51okay september is still texas it's fair that's
- 28:54fair it's gonna be like yeah it's right okay
- 28:56it's gonna be like 80 to 90 celsius okay i mean
- 28:58okay but like qatar at night kota at night those
- 29:03are gonna be cooler still really hot do you not
- 29:05remember they're not gonna be really hot do you
- 29:07not remember Oscar Piastri last year at Qatar,
- 29:12literally him laying down on the floor to cool
- 29:15down. You're 100 % correct. It's very, very humid
- 29:19there. Incredibly humid, incredibly hot. No,
- 29:22you're right. You're right. But out of summer,
- 29:23they could flip the script. Maybe it'll be a
- 29:25hot running car. That'd be crazy. Yeah, I think
- 29:28you're right. The cool does definitely help them
- 29:30a lot, but they have a whole kind of... He's
- 29:33down playing George Skill. Yeah, I don't know.
- 29:35I also do that. I'm here for the mix -up. I'd
- 29:38like to see them fighting. And not just because
- 29:39you have them up there. I just want to see more
- 29:41fighting between them. Honestly, as much as I
- 29:43want my predictions to be right, I like Mercedes
- 29:45more than I do Ferrari. So if Mercedes gets ahead,
- 29:47I'm happy. Sounds good. Aston. Aston, I wore
- 29:53my hat. Yeah, crazy. I forgot they existed. I
- 29:56thought we already covered them. Aston Martin
- 29:58jumps to sixth in Constructors. And this is exactly
- 30:01what we all expected to see out of him. Finishes
- 30:04like this from the start of the season, honestly.
- 30:07I didn't. Well, we know. But like mid... Oh,
- 30:12Joe's taking out the OG paper here. Let's see.
- 30:14Who did we have as fifth? Aston Martin. That's
- 30:18crazy. Granted, there's six right now, but only
- 30:2118 points away. Only 18 points away. Yeah, you're
- 30:24right. How much have they gotten in the last
- 30:26four races, though? It's all right here. Hey,
- 30:29I mean, listen, a short burst is still worth
- 30:33it. We saw Alpine do it last year. What I'm saying
- 30:35is when they went into this season, they were
- 30:38talking about how this season wasn't going to
- 30:40be their focus. They were more focused on 2026,
- 30:43right? They said Newey wasn't even going to look
- 30:45at this car. And then they were ninth in constructors
- 30:49and they were panicking and they were like, OK,
- 30:52you know what, Adrian, take a look at this car
- 30:54over lunch. Right. Adrian took a couple looks
- 30:56at the car, gave them some ideas. They brought
- 30:58some upgrades. Things got better. And now they're
- 31:00actually starting to perform. And where they
- 31:03weren't going to really work on this car at all,
- 31:05they've started working on this car and it's
- 31:07starting to show. So, I mean, I feel like my
- 31:11prediction wasn't too crazy. I wasn't expecting
- 31:13them to actually work on their car. Fair enough.
- 31:17But anyways, enough trying to defend my honor.
- 31:20No, no. Great GP. I think my favorite news article
- 31:24from Aston's great showing is that they need
- 31:27to understand why it was such a good showing.
- 31:29They're like, not 100 % sure where this came
- 31:32from. Because I don't think they had any huge
- 31:34upgrades or anything. I mean, Alpine had more
- 31:38of an upgrade for 100 than Aston Martin did.
- 31:40Yeah, right. That's crazy, right? That's crazy,
- 31:42right? Isn't that crazy? Anyway, I mean, yeah,
- 31:49it's insane. I'm just wondering if a ton of points
- 31:52right away. I'm just wondering if the Aston is
- 31:54like super high downforce or something like that
- 31:56and just really good in low speed corners. And
- 31:59this track being mostly low speed corners just
- 32:01meant that they were able to extract more performance
- 32:03out of this track because they did terribly at
- 32:06Spa. Yeah, they did do terrible. And that's that's
- 32:11like no doubt. So I made the point about the
- 32:15Alpine short burst of like points. If that's
- 32:18Aston's strategy, they did it way too early.
- 32:21I'm getting the playback of Fast and Furious
- 32:25too soon. Yeah, nice. Good call. That's funny.
- 32:37Last but not least. Last but probably least.
- 32:41Joe is stretching, getting worked out. I need
- 32:45to lean back for the blowback. Take it away,
- 32:48Joe, to talk about mimicry. Let me paint you
- 32:51a picture really quick. Okay, Bob Ross. Joe,
- 32:56you're bleeding. Look how excited he is. He's
- 32:58bleeding on his arm. Oh, my gosh. That's crazy.
- 33:01Don't put it on there. Don't, don't. Hold, please.
- 33:07Why are you bleeding? What the heck? Sorry, we
- 33:09don't need that paper. I've been very fidgety
- 33:12today, and so I might have just scratched myself.
- 33:15He's just so excited. Do we have a nurse on standby
- 33:19for our shows? It's okay. I'm not bleeding that
- 33:21badly. I'm not bleeding that badly. Kevin, I'm
- 33:22going to get you a nurse cap. We're going to
- 33:24get demonetized. It's fine. I would like you
- 33:26to imagine this. Please. All right. Start of
- 33:30the race. Wait, do we have to close our eyes
- 33:32too? No. This is mostly for me. You can if you
- 33:34want to. So let me try to imagine with my eyes
- 33:36open. LeClaire is in first. He gets a really
- 33:38good run. Oscar gets a really good run behind
- 33:41him. And Lando Norris falls two places behind.
- 33:44P5. Three places behind? Yeah, he went to P5.
- 33:48Okay, three places behind. Within the next 40
- 33:52or so laps, I'll say 30 laps, he's able to make
- 33:56a couple positions up, and he decides to go for
- 33:59a different strategy than the other top runners.
- 34:02He's going to go for a one -stop. He makes the
- 34:05one -stop work. He gets to first. Everyone tries
- 34:07to catch up. Again, Leclerc in first for the
- 34:11first half of the race. I think he's going to
- 34:14win. He has good pace. Oscar cannot catch him.
- 34:17We get to 40 and beyond. Lando keeping first.
- 34:22Oscar behind, getting closer and closer. By the
- 34:26last 10 laps, like 15 seconds ahead of third.
- 34:31After not being in first, they made that gap
- 34:35half race distance, right? crazy effort now other
- 34:41competitors aside let's go ahead and talk about
- 34:43mclaren just in general or not mclaren in general
- 34:46just mclaren specifically We saw more fighting
- 34:50between Norris and Piastri. We knew it was going
- 34:52to happen. Norris, I did not think Norris was
- 34:54going to keep it. I thought Piastri was going
- 34:56to get him. We got to lap 67 or something like
- 35:01that. We got a huge lockup from Piastri. Almost
- 35:04went straight into Lando. A repeat and reverse
- 35:07order of Canada. Horror movie for me. Horror
- 35:11movie for me. He ends up keeping it. We hear
- 35:16him. kind of you know just his whole strategy
- 35:20both of their strategies are talking about each
- 35:22other they're focused on each other the focus
- 35:24on the championship oh yeah they just have monster
- 35:27pace currently finishing the race 25 seconds
- 35:31away from third it's just a good day to be mclaren
- 35:35i'm sure it's not a good day to be oscar i'm
- 35:37sure he's gonna think about you know a lot of
- 35:39things um he might have been a strategy thing
- 35:42you know he just wasn't the right strategy to
- 35:44go with um but It was a great showing again.
- 35:49I'm happy to be wearing a new McLaren hat. I'm
- 35:52happy that I bought this hat this weekend. Just
- 35:54giving them money for unbelievable. He's literally
- 35:57buying their new parts. Yeah, pretty much. I'm
- 36:01buying the upgrades. I'm actually funding whoever
- 36:03the reseller is. I don't know. But I mean, just
- 36:07I mean, another one to McLaren's 200th win. You
- 36:11are correct. I believe it was the 200th win.
- 36:13Correct. Just, again, another master class. No
- 36:18real big issues except for Piastri's lockup.
- 36:20Otherwise, very solid race from both of the drivers.
- 36:24I'm looking forward. And Lando keeps catching
- 36:26them. Like, Lando's getting closer and closer.
- 36:28It's right there. That's part of our summer break
- 36:30preview. He's right there. He's right there.
- 36:33We'll definitely get into that. Nine points away.
- 36:35I had two thoughts. Yeah. Is it negative? No,
- 36:38no, no. Both great. So, two thoughts. One, like,
- 36:42first off, Oscar. in post -race interview even
- 36:45commented saying like he wasn't upset with the
- 36:47result he said lato drove excellently i felt
- 36:50like i drove great just strategies were different
- 36:53and he goes it just didn't work out it happens
- 36:56you know like if there were one or two more laps
- 36:59oscar would have had him for sure so like it
- 37:02is what it is honestly i don't think oscar is
- 37:05upset about that i don't think he has any reason
- 37:06to be upset about that uh my other thing is that
- 37:10a driver of the day went to gabriel bordoletto
- 37:12who i think is that's awesome i love to see him
- 37:15getting driver of the day i like to see different
- 37:17drivers winning it but if i'm being real he didn't
- 37:20deserve it he drove really really good but i
- 37:23do think lando had the best drive of the day
- 37:25i do think that resoundingly like he was one
- 37:29of only a few drivers who made a one -stop work
- 37:31he took a like he made up four positions back
- 37:36up to first and then held that position and was
- 37:41able to fight off a charging oscar a charging
- 37:43oscar on on a huge tire delta and like yeah just
- 37:50and still like you said finish like what like
- 37:5220 seconds ahead of third like yep something
- 37:56like that it was 20 i have it right here it's
- 37:5821 .9 seconds yeah so yeah so like absolutely
- 38:02that was also fast this weekend yes absolutely
- 38:06monster drive i think lando was the best driver
- 38:09on the day i'm not going to complain about gabriel
- 38:12getting driver of the day but i feel like give
- 38:14the boys roses you know okay fair enough yeah
- 38:1920 21 22 seconds away from third and then russell
- 38:23in third 21 seconds away from leclerc crazy yeah
- 38:27it's just that yeah it's Just a great weekend
- 38:31for McLaren. Just a great season for McLaren.
- 38:34Am I right? No, for sure. I have to soak this
- 38:37all up. I got to roll around in it because I
- 38:39just don't know what's going to happen next.
- 38:39Before they take their tragic fall. Because you
- 38:41don't know what's about to happen coming out
- 38:42of summer break. When Aston Martin shows up and
- 38:44wins Constructors next year. I feel like we have
- 38:46Constructors locked up this year. Sure. 100%.
- 38:49I think one of them has Drivers locked up, too.
- 38:52Who's in third? It's Max in third still, right?
- 38:56Yes. It's Max in third, but he is... He is almost
- 39:00100 points away from Norris at this point. That's
- 39:03crazy to think about. He's just about 90, 80,
- 39:0786, 88, if you're being specific. Damn. Wicked.
- 39:11George is only 15 points behind him. That's wild.
- 39:16Is that crazy? That's wild. That's wild. Yikes.
- 39:20Joe, do you have any calm call -outs? Man. Just
- 39:23the one that you put down. So I'll let you cover
- 39:25it. The Piastri one? Yeah. Okay. Oh, and the
- 39:27Leclerc one. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So the Piastri
- 39:30one, he pretty much, you know, engineer came
- 39:33on, whatever, talking about how far he is or
- 39:37ahead of the Ferrari. And he really didn't, he
- 39:40pretty much said he doesn't care. He was really
- 39:43only worried about Lando, and it just solidifies
- 39:46how bad these drivers want this WDC at this point.
- 39:49Again, leading into our summer break preview,
- 39:52we can definitely touch on it one more time before
- 39:54we close out. And then the only other one I had
- 39:57was I just put LeClaire meltdown for a minute.
- 39:59I mean, he had a solid like 15 seconds where
- 40:02he just let it all out. The whole message with
- 40:04the starting with this is so frustrating. So
- 40:07incredibly frustrating. The commentator was like,
- 40:10we're running out of screen. Yeah, exactly. I
- 40:12know you've seen this, but on TikTok, people
- 40:14are editing, editing that message and doing the
- 40:17Star Wars intro and just kind of like setting
- 40:20it up. It's so funny. It's so funny. I've not
- 40:23seen that. That's hilarious. It's so good. My
- 40:26algorithm's off. I need to see more of that.
- 40:27Yeah, yeah, yeah. What the heck? Mine, too. He
- 40:29sends me all of my Formula One TikToks. I'm like,
- 40:32TikTok, figure it out. I want to see this stuff,
- 40:34too. Right. You guys are liking them, man. I
- 40:36do. All right, all right, all right. Quick thoughts.
- 40:38You got any quick thoughts? Quick thoughts? Your
- 40:41face is a quick thought. No, Joe, that's my note.
- 40:43Nice. You stole it. Nice. Quick thoughts. I just
- 40:46kind of wanted to, we have, well, we're at 40.
- 40:49We're good. Woo! I don't know if we're going
- 40:54to touch on this in summer preview, but I'm curious.
- 40:56Favorite moment from first half of the year?
- 40:58Nah. Yeah, we could talk about that real quick.
- 41:02It doesn't have to be anything huge. Just call
- 41:04one moment out. Come on. It's easy. I bought
- 41:08a hat. It's Nico. It's Nico on the podium. That
- 41:12was the most exciting racing moment I think I've
- 41:15ever had. Not even close. It is a hard one to
- 41:19top. That's a hard one to top. Did Kimi get a
- 41:26podium? He did. I think that's what it is for
- 41:29me. Just rookie getting on podium was pretty
- 41:32wild. Yeah. I'm pretty sure he did. Kimi was
- 41:33on the podium with George. They double podiumed.
- 41:35I'm pretty sure. Yeah. What race was that? Great
- 41:37question. Wait, Kimi got a podium? You'd think
- 41:39I would know. Yeah, Kimi's been on the podium.
- 41:41I'm almost positive, dude. Not here. Not Belgium.
- 41:43Hold on. Yeah, we're double checking. Oh, he
- 41:47did. He got a podium in Canada. He was third.
- 41:49Yeah. Yeah. wow i think that's what it is for
- 41:52me obviously such a huge moment that i remembered
- 41:54what race it was but you know i mean yeah no
- 41:57but that was awesome yeah and it was it was a
- 41:59good it was a great drive out of him too sure
- 42:00for sure joe what's your you what's your what's
- 42:04yours um you know man's asked a question doesn't
- 42:10even have his own answer i don't i was thinking
- 42:12about this early today and i was like i was like
- 42:13thinking about it and i was like i just i don't
- 42:15know if i have like i so much so much crazy good
- 42:18things have happened nico's a really hard one
- 42:21to beat for sure it's really hard it's really
- 42:23really hard to beat that one um i mean i this
- 42:28is not a single moment but like just the the
- 42:32The dominance we've been seeing from some of
- 42:34the McLaren drivers and some of the fights we've
- 42:36seen between them were great as well. But I think
- 42:40if I had to pick one, it's probably Nico. That
- 42:42was such a special moment. It was really, really
- 42:44cool seeing the team so excited and them partying.
- 42:48I love seeing that stuff. Yeah, for sure. That
- 42:50was really nice. Oh, I'll also say this. This
- 42:53last weekend on the podium, Lando took the trophies,
- 42:57put them to the side so they didn't break, and
- 42:59then he started celebrating. That was also a
- 43:00pretty good fun moment, too. I was like, I saw
- 43:02him like take the trophies and move them off
- 43:04to the side. I was like, ah, he's learning. And
- 43:06then he shook and I was, and he went, and I was
- 43:08like, he did the thing. Oh my gosh. Um, let's
- 43:14see. Do we even have, do you guys have any news?
- 43:17Cause I mean, I know usually we do a transition,
- 43:19but there's no news right now on here. So I might
- 43:22as well just cover it. Cause I don't think there's
- 43:23any news. I didn't have anything. I haven't,
- 43:26I looked, I haven't even looked at the thing.
- 43:28Are we going to talk about, uh, ideas predictions
- 43:30for summer break yeah yeah for sure moves and
- 43:33things like that i assumed as much into that
- 43:35yeah shizzle good should we just get into that
- 43:37well no i know let's just do our own yeah i mean
- 43:41that's what i mean we got no news so yeah we
- 43:42probably just get into summer break preview In
- 43:45a minute here. What do you got there, Kev? What
- 43:46do we got? Don't break the trophy. Oh, yeah,
- 43:48that's my favorite. Oh, that's awesome. No, that's
- 43:52the champagne bottle. He signed the champagne,
- 43:55and he wrote himself a note saying don't break
- 43:57the trophy, which is the funniest moment. Everybody
- 44:00always needs gentle reminders from themselves.
- 44:02Yeah. With that, Kev, when you're ready, let's
- 44:07go right into summer break preview. And now I...
- 44:23I'm here to bring you up to speed for this summer
- 44:26break. We don't have a race to cover this week.
- 44:29We will cover that in three weeks, but we have
- 44:33three weeks, but we have summer break, you know,
- 44:36we're going to just kind of talk really quick
- 44:39about what we think might be coming for summer
- 44:41break. What we're most, maybe most looking forward
- 44:43to after summer break, maybe, maybe just sort
- 44:46of like a race that we're really looking forward
- 44:48to or something. I'm going to kind of kick it
- 44:50to you. Cause you have a couple of notes here
- 44:51that you, you may want to do. Yeah, the second
- 44:54one is wildness before we get into predictions.
- 44:56But the first one is, oh, fellas, fellas, fellas,
- 45:00fellas. We are staring right at an epic Lando
- 45:07versus Oscar 10 -round heavyweight title match
- 45:11with only nine points separating the pair of
- 45:13papayas. Sunday, Sunday. Sunday, Sunday, Sunday.
- 45:16Can't see shit. It's five. Take about 10 % off
- 45:21there, Super Chief. Yeah, back in 1999 they were.
- 45:25Anyway, I think I spit on my screen. You almost
- 45:28broke your chair while you were at it, too. That
- 45:29was crazy. Yeah, anyway, real quick, had to get
- 45:31all that energy out. Oh, man. We are about to
- 45:35have a crazy 10 races. I mean, if those last
- 45:39few laps showed us anything, they both want it
- 45:42bad. Oh, I mean, yeah. Bad, bad, bad, bad. Absolutely.
- 45:45It'd be each of their first one, so I don't know.
- 45:49I think we're going to see some garbage. Thoughts?
- 45:51Thoughts? Who do we have? Who's going to do it?
- 45:52Who do we have? Starting with the McLaren boy.
- 45:56This is your team. My season prediction is Lando,
- 46:00but man, Oscar's been showing up. Oscar's been
- 46:03showing up, but Lando has been having a comeback.
- 46:06That's what makes me so excited post -summer
- 46:09break. We're going to see a lot of really good
- 46:11fights, I'm hoping, from both of them. I'm hoping
- 46:14we don't just see one of them fall off and the
- 46:15other one just kind of... If they do, it's going
- 46:18to be Lando, I think. Why? I just think Oscar's
- 46:21more consistent than him. And then I think Lando
- 46:24has some really good, really, really good races.
- 46:26I think Lando gets in his head more than Oscar
- 46:29does. Definitely. That'd be the only down. To
- 46:32answer your question, I think it's probably going
- 46:34to be Oscar. Ooh. Okay. And he is the current
- 46:36leader, right? He is. By nine points? Yeah. You
- 46:39want me to go? Yeah, you're good. Lando Norris.
- 46:42I love that. You think Lando's going to take
- 46:43it? I'm really happy someone said Lando. This
- 46:45guy can't think that. I'm really happy someone
- 46:48said Lando. I'm with you. I think it's going
- 46:50to be Oscar. I love Lando. I like Oscar more.
- 46:52I think either one of them could take it, honestly.
- 46:55Preface, I'm predicting it to be Oscar, but if
- 46:57Lando gets it, I'm going to be like, yeah, okay,
- 46:59sure. Oh, yeah. I'm going to be so happy. I'm
- 47:02going to be probably more happy if Lando gets
- 47:04it, but I think realistically Oscar probably
- 47:06will. gremlin inside of me really doesn't want
- 47:11lando to get Why? Do you not like Lando? No,
- 47:16I do. It's such a meme that Lando's been working
- 47:21so hard to get this title. Lando spent so much
- 47:25time building this team up only for some random
- 47:27schmuck to come in here. Australia? Some random
- 47:31schmuck from Australia to show up, take his position,
- 47:34and win Constructors. You're a bad person. You're
- 47:37a bad person. Like I said, the gremlin inside
- 47:40of me. You can't even say Lando deserves it.
- 47:43it more because Oscar also deserves it. He's
- 47:45had a great drive all season. Just because Lando's
- 47:47been with McLaren for longer and has been fighting
- 47:50it for longer and he had a really good last season,
- 47:53it's just Oscar showing up. Full stop. Honestly,
- 47:57I'm kind of in a position where I was like...
- 48:01lando you kind of had your shot last year and
- 48:03you bottled it no no i super disagree with that
- 48:07i don't think he had i don't think he ever had
- 48:09a shot yesterday i'm saying this with hindsight
- 48:11obviously but uh last year sorry yesterday i
- 48:15don't think he ever had a shot last year and
- 48:17i'm saying that with hindsight obviously but
- 48:19like yeah i don't know i feel like he had a shot
- 48:22i think he definitely has a better shot this
- 48:24year for full stop yeah obviously we see that
- 48:27with the points but like yeah i don't know i'm
- 48:30like I'm not like he had a shot last year, and
- 48:33then he bottled it, and now he's got another
- 48:35competitor. Are you okay? Yeah, I'm good. Now
- 48:38he's got another competitor, and this other competitor
- 48:41is showing up. It's Oscar's third year, and I
- 48:43would love to see somebody win a WDC in their
- 48:46third year. That would be crazy. That would be
- 48:49crazy. That's some Lewis Hamilton, you know.
- 48:53Is that some Lewis Hamilton style? Does Lewis
- 48:54win his third year? Yeah, I think so. That's
- 48:56crazy. Lewis Hamilton. WDC titles. That sounds
- 49:00correct. Actually, I could be very wrong. Yeah,
- 49:04I don't know when he... His first one was in
- 49:072008 with McLaren. I think that's four years
- 49:10because I think he started in 2004. Okay. That
- 49:12does sound right. I could be wrong. That does
- 49:14sound right. So maybe four years is too close.
- 49:16We have the power of Google. 2007. Is when he
- 49:19started? Yeah. Dang! Why did I think 2004? Wait,
- 49:24no. That doesn't make... Wait. That means it
- 49:26was the second year. Did he win WDC his second
- 49:30year? Oh, God. We're going down the rabbit trail.
- 49:33Are we not? Look, we should know this. Yeah,
- 49:35we should know this. We're losing all credibility.
- 49:39Okay, so I was just curious to see who was the
- 49:44earliest driver to win WDC. in their careers
- 49:50like whether it was second year third year whatever
- 49:53and giuseppe nino farina is the earliest rookie
- 49:57to win the formula one world drivers championship
- 50:00achieving the feat in the inaugural 1950 season
- 50:04which was also his first year in the sport oh
- 50:07okay the inaugural season yeah first year in
- 50:10the sport because it's the inaugural season so
- 50:12that's uh that's a little yes hamilton was runner
- 50:15up in his first season And he won his second
- 50:18season. That's wild. That is pretty wild. That's
- 50:21wild. Okay. Piastri's still very close, you know.
- 50:25Yeah, yeah, yeah. And, hey, hear this. It's also
- 50:28in a McLaren. Kind of crazy, right? I mean, I
- 50:32bet you'd like to think that. Six years ago,
- 50:34yeah. Okay. Anyway. All right, I got a couple
- 50:38crazy things to throw at you. Yeah, please do.
- 50:40So did you guys hear that Ollie Bierman is to
- 50:42replace Lewis at Ferrari this summer? Next season,
- 50:45Sebastian Vettel to come back and replace Yuki
- 50:48Tsunoda for a Constructor title with Max in 2026.
- 50:54Gasly also to retire as Alpine has sucked up
- 50:59all of his joy he gets from racing. There's a
- 51:03lot of things I just threw at you. Did you just
- 51:06try and clickbait me? Yeah, for sure. No, I'm
- 51:11just curious if you have any other outlandish
- 51:13things you have thought about that you don't
- 51:16want to share with anybody. That would be a good
- 51:17thing to share. Just throw it out there. Max
- 51:19to Mercedes. No, that's over. That's not going
- 51:22to happen. No, it's never going to be over. We're
- 51:24going to keep hearing about it. That's also not
- 51:25outlandish. It'll come back. Don't worry. Fair
- 51:27enough. Any outlandish stuff? I mean, nothing
- 51:31crazy. I'm really... I don't have anything as
- 51:33crazy as any of the nonsense you just spilled
- 51:36out. I really had to think about some of those.
- 51:37Any of that nonsense that you just spilled out.
- 51:39I'm really looking forward to seeing what they
- 51:41do at Alpine, honestly. That's, like, my biggest
- 51:43watch at the moment is just seeing them figure
- 51:46out what they're going to do. Yeah, because we
- 51:48got driver. We kind of have, like, driver decisions
- 51:50and team principal decisions. So, like, very
- 51:53looking. Like, weirdly, last team on the constructors.
- 51:57kind of just watching them. That's my big watch
- 52:00team at the moment over summer break. And then.
- 52:03I don't think George has signed with Mercedes
- 52:04yet. He has not, and neither Antonelli also does
- 52:07not have a contract for 26. I thought I saw a
- 52:09headline saying that George won't, or a headline
- 52:13said that George won't sign over the summer break
- 52:15either. Maybe they said, maybe it was clickbait,
- 52:19and it was like, yeah, because he's going to
- 52:20sign after the summer break, like right after,
- 52:22like when Toto usually does it. Stupid. I don't
- 52:25know. Stupid. I don't know. Is it true that,
- 52:27sorry, you said Toto and it triggered something.
- 52:29Is it true that Toto went to talk to Lewis after
- 52:32this race? Did he? I don't know. What's his name?
- 52:35Vassar or whatever brought Toto in and be like,
- 52:37dude, can you just talk to this guy real quick?
- 52:39I'm sure he did. The two of them are still really
- 52:40good friends. That's what I mean. I thought I
- 52:42saw some thing. Toto has said before that the
- 52:44two of them regularly text each other. Oh, I'm
- 52:47sure. They keep in contact. They chat with each
- 52:49other. You won world championships together.
- 52:50You're going to still talk to each other. You
- 52:51spent years with each other. There's probably
- 52:54some stuff you can't say. Of course. But you
- 52:57can be friends. Yeah, absolutely. No, no, no.
- 53:03I don't think you're wrong. I think they did
- 53:06have maybe a little bit of a chat or something.
- 53:08It would make sense. It would make sense, yeah.
- 53:12Anyway, all right. Summer predictions. What do
- 53:14we got? I mean, whatever. Cadillac will probably
- 53:17announce at least one driver. Oh, I hope so.
- 53:19Oh, that's another big watch. I really, really
- 53:21want to see Cadillac announce. Just announce
- 53:23somebody, man. I don't care who it is at this
- 53:25point. Just let's announce a driver. At least
- 53:27we don't. It seems really late considering 26
- 53:30is coming up. There was somebody from the wing
- 53:32of Cadillac, somebody who works for Cadillac,
- 53:34who stated that Cadillac will be announcing their
- 53:37first driver in their lineup this summer break.
- 53:40Is the easy one just Botas? And then the second
- 53:43driver is the hard one. I definitely think that's
- 53:44the easiest one. I mean, I feel like they're
- 53:46probably going to announce them at the same...
- 53:48I really hope that they announce that they're
- 53:50picking up Botas and that Botas doesn't go to
- 53:53freaking Alpine. He deserves better, okay? I
- 53:58don't see Alpine. I don't see him sticking at
- 54:00Alpine unless he starts getting them points and
- 54:02then they're like... You want a seat? Is Botox
- 54:05number one? Does Alpine outperform Cadillac when
- 54:09they first join in? I sure hope they do. That's
- 54:11a question right now. They should be. I sure
- 54:14hope they do. They should be. No, yeah, that's
- 54:17another really great point. Yeah, so I'm looking
- 54:19forward to seeing what Alpine does, and I'm really
- 54:22looking forward to seeing eventually what Cadillac
- 54:24brings, too. I could see Alpine doing nothing.
- 54:26Predictions for Cadillac, it's Botas, and it's
- 54:28probably going to be Checo. I don't want it to
- 54:33be Checo. I like it to be a rookie, but it'll
- 54:35probably be Checo. I think my dream pairing for
- 54:39Cadillac right now is Valtteri and Felipe Drogovic.
- 54:44Drogovic? Drogovic. Is he an F2 driver? He's
- 54:47a reserve driver for Aston Martin. Reserve driver,
- 54:48okay. Yep. I'd like to see this one happen. Has
- 54:51his name been circulated with Cadillac at all?
- 54:54Yes, it has. There's been a lot of talk. There's
- 54:55also talk about Mick Schumacher. There has been
- 54:58talk about Mick Schumacher. Colton Hurta. Although
- 55:02Colton Hurta has fallen off pretty hard. Indy
- 55:05car driver, right? Yep, Indy car driver, correct.
- 55:07He has fallen off the radar pretty hard, though.
- 55:09I don't think they're going to go Indy. Yeah,
- 55:11probably not. I don't think. For one of their
- 55:14first drivers. They probably won't. I think someday
- 55:17we'll see an Indy driver come back into F1, but
- 55:21I don't think it'll be this time around. Nope.
- 55:23Unfortunately. Yeah, so nonetheless. I wonder
- 55:27how real a Mick Schumacher situation would be.
- 55:31He's not racing in F1 anymore. He's doing other
- 55:35things. Sports car? I think he's doing sports
- 55:38car. I know he was doing, he's probably doing
- 55:40WEC. Yeah. I thought last I heard he was doing
- 55:44sports car with Alpine. I think you're right.
- 55:46Yeah. Yeah, that's what he mentioned last week
- 55:49for sure. I did mention that. He was definitely
- 55:50doing that during Le Mans. I don't know if he's
- 55:52doing that full year. I thought he had a contract
- 55:56with Alpine to drive a sports car with him. He
- 55:58is testing with Alpine and is being considered
- 56:01by General. Okay, so every single AI overview
- 56:05is saying he's being considered for Cadillac.
- 56:07Of course. He is in WEC currently, which is Le
- 56:11Mans. uh sports car i don't think he i don't
- 56:15know if he's racing full -time though like he
- 56:17did lamar because i needed a lot of drivers for
- 56:19it he might be doing just more testing and stuff
- 56:21like that i'm not sure he is 26 years old i mean
- 56:24his cadillac literally mick schumacher's last
- 56:26opportunity to maybe get another f1 seat yeah
- 56:30like literally lap final final like this could
- 56:33be his last chance you don't think i think that
- 56:36there's A distance? Alpine? Yes. No, yes. I think
- 56:41there's a distant world that Alpine's like. Alpine's
- 56:43like, okay. Alpine looks at their little Rolodex
- 56:46and like, all right, who else do we got here?
- 56:48Mick? Okay. God. Just chew him up and spit him
- 56:53out for the second time in Formula One. You're
- 56:55right. Alpine endurance team. Yeah. Anyway. So
- 56:59those are my predictions. That's who I want.
- 57:03I hope. I do hope it's Felipe and Valtteri. That
- 57:06would be a fun team -up. I would prefer seeing
- 57:09Botas and Mick, but I super doubt Mick's coming
- 57:12back. I don't think Mick's coming back. I think
- 57:15if they got Mick, I'd be happy. I'd be happy
- 57:18to see him back. I would hope nothing for him
- 57:21to succeed. I genuinely feel so bad for the guy
- 57:30that he's got the Schumacher name. That would
- 57:35be tough. You see it all the time with pro athletes.
- 57:38Their sons or whatever or the juniors and stuff
- 57:41don't pan out sometimes. Did you know that Senna
- 57:45had a cousin and he raced in F1? Yeah, I do.
- 57:48I don't remember what his name was. I've heard
- 57:52some little things. I'm not going to say I know
- 57:53everything about him. I think I was looking at
- 57:55a replay of a race that happened in the 2010s
- 57:59and there was a Senna racing and I was like,
- 58:02What? Yeah. That's crazy. He's like, wait, no,
- 58:06he's no longer around. What are we doing? Yeah,
- 58:08no, man. Exactly. That's what I said. I was like,
- 58:12this is a glitch. Who was it that Charles Leclerc
- 58:15is related to? He's related to a relatively big
- 58:19former driver, not Villeneuve. Who the heck?
- 58:24Oh, not cousin, nephew. Sorry. I apologize. He
- 58:26raised 2010 to 2012. My bad. Nephew. Okay. That
- 58:31makes a little more sense. Yeah, for sure. For
- 58:33sure. Hey, at least he got a shot. Two years?
- 58:36Yeah. I mean, he raced for HRT, Renault, and
- 58:39Williams. Okay. And apparently he's also known
- 58:43for racing series like GT and Formula E. Okay.
- 58:47Okay. Does he still currently race Formula E?
- 58:52Let's find out. Bruno Senna. And then we'll wrap
- 58:55this thing up. He's a former race car driver,
- 58:57so I don't think so. He's 41 years old right
- 59:00now. Yeah, no, I don't think he's done anything.
- 59:03Fair enough. Oh. Oh! that's kind of cool he won
- 59:08he won 2017 he won the fia wec championship in
- 59:13lmp2 that's pretty cool in lmp2 yeah so that's
- 59:16like the yeah like there's like the big like
- 59:19the big classes the gtps right the lmp2s are
- 59:22like the one right like one right below yeah
- 59:24that's who it was i was trying to remember trying
- 59:27to remember who it was that charles eclair was
- 59:29related to and he was related to uh eclair to
- 59:32no uh jules bianchi He was related to him? Yes.
- 59:38Yes, he was related to Jules Bianchi. It was
- 59:42a godfather? Godfather. Jules Bianchi was his
- 59:46godfather. That's what it was. Bianchi's a great
- 59:49bicycle. Jules Bianchi was the guy who died in
- 59:53an accident crashing into the recovery vehicle.
- 59:58Oh, that was him. Yes. Why? Who did I think that
- 1:00:01was? Okay. Interesting. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:00:03God, that was sad. Yeah. Um, yeah. Okay. Back
- 1:00:08in 2015. Wow. That was a lot more recent than
- 1:00:11I thought. Um, yeah. So that's, this is my, this
- 1:00:16is my stuff. This is all I have. I'm locking
- 1:00:17my phone. Right. Right. Well, thanks for being
- 1:00:21back, Mike. Thanks. Yeah. Thanks for being back.
- 1:00:23I'm glad I could be here. Unperished. Unperished.
- 1:00:26I've been necromanced back to the living. That's
- 1:00:31good. Joel. This is so cringe. so impossibly
