- 0:00Speaker 1: Wow. Donald, Wow. That's all I say is wow. And
- 0:04Speaker 1: on a day when we have Neil Flynn on, like,
- 0:06Speaker 1: I'm all excited. I've been pounding energy drinks and here
- 0:11Speaker 1: I am. I'm ready to go. And know, Donald Fazon,
- 0:14Speaker 1: do you want to tell everyone why you're so late?
- 0:16Speaker 2: I made a mistake and tried to download the new
- 0:21Speaker 2: Apple whatever it is. Yeah, the software two hours before.
- 0:29Speaker 2: This computer it's pretty old. It's a MacBook Pro. But
- 0:33Speaker 2: it's an old computer. You know, it's an older model
- 0:35Speaker 2: of the MacBook Pro. Right now, So I am now
- 0:38Speaker 2: twenty minutes later.
- 0:39Speaker 1: Yeah, Mary, lay, we got Neil Flynn. He's like sitting
- 0:42Speaker 1: in a holding room.
- 0:43Speaker 2: Yeah. We put him in the holding We put him
- 0:45Speaker 2: all in the holding cell.
- 0:46Speaker 1: Yeah. They put Neil in a holding cell and he's
- 0:48Speaker 1: just sitting there. He's probably gonna keep, probably gonna walk
- 0:50Speaker 1: out soon.
- 0:51Speaker 2: I hope Neil doesn't walk out. First of all, how's
- 0:54Speaker 2: everybody doing?
- 0:55Speaker 1: We were just chatting. We had a great chat waiting
- 0:58Speaker 1: for you.
- 0:58Speaker 2: What were you chatting about?
- 1:00Speaker 1: We were talking about just our lives and what's happening,
- 1:05Speaker 1: and how Joelle has a huge Twitter following I didn't
- 1:07Speaker 1: know about.
- 1:09Speaker 2: Yeah, did this just happened because of the podcast or.
- 1:11Speaker 1: No, that is Joelle Jowell. What's your handle? We should
- 1:14Speaker 1: we should blow it up even more.
- 1:15Speaker 3: Uh yeah, my handle is at joel Monique on the
- 1:18Speaker 3: twitters and the Instagrams. I was a writer before I
- 1:21Speaker 3: came to you guys, and I would do a lot
- 1:23Speaker 3: of critiquing of like television shows and movies. I think
- 1:28Speaker 3: my Watchmen interviews are probably one I'm most famous for.
- 1:31Speaker 3: Toronto International Film Festival just retweeted those yesterday. But yeah,
- 1:34Speaker 3: come talk to me about nerdy and political things. It's
- 1:37Speaker 3: good times.
- 1:38Speaker 2: Well you're you're you're a Watchmen fan?
- 1:41Speaker 3: Oh fuck it? From the graphic novel era, the ad show
- 1:44Speaker 3: really killed it?
- 1:45Speaker 2: Did you not like the movie?
- 1:47Speaker 3: The movie was my introduction, and I find that it
- 1:49Speaker 3: has some things that are very intriguing and interesting about it,
- 1:52Speaker 3: But overall, I don't think it holds up to like
- 1:55Speaker 3: the quality that is the original graphic novel.
- 1:57Speaker 2: Right, the graphic novel has more.
- 1:59Speaker 1: And I love the TV show Man. I thought that
- 2:01Speaker 1: was incredible and it's brilliant.
- 2:03Speaker 3: They want a Peabody this morning and.
- 2:05Speaker 1: So relevant to today when you see these, when you
- 2:08Speaker 1: see what's a What's happening in the news, and also
- 2:11Speaker 1: like cops with their face masks on. I can't help
- 2:15Speaker 1: but think of the Watchman. I was like, wow, yeah,
- 2:19Speaker 1: And I saw someone with an article that was like
- 2:21Speaker 1: Watchman was just a few months too early or something
- 2:24Speaker 1: like that. Someone.
- 2:24Speaker 2: Yeah, they got it right, they got it right, they
- 2:26Speaker 2: predicted it.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Listen, I would love to banter with you and tell
- 2:30Speaker 1: you how much I smell because I forgot to put
- 2:32Speaker 1: on deodorant and uh and I'm I'm glad that we're
- 2:34Speaker 1: on a zoom call, so you guys aren't offended, but
- 2:36Speaker 1: we got Neil Flynt sitting on the.
- 2:38Speaker 2: Other all right, Well, then hold on one second.
- 2:40Speaker 4: I bought this six eight stories about show. We made
- 2:46Speaker 4: about a bunch of.
- 2:51Speaker 5: The stories.
- 3:05Speaker 1: You know, I don't think that you deserve to five
- 3:08Speaker 1: six seven eight when you're this late.
- 3:10Speaker 2: I did it already, so I know.
- 3:12Speaker 1: But I just want to submit to the to the
- 3:14Speaker 1: to the to the to the Scrubs podcast rule book
- 3:18Speaker 1: that you are when you're this late. You don't get
- 3:19Speaker 1: to five six seven eight, you're punished.
- 3:21Speaker 2: When when did we get a rule book?
- 3:23Speaker 1: You know, when I was a kid going to camp,
- 3:27Speaker 1: I was so nerdy and this was back in a
- 3:29Speaker 1: day when they would let you do this. But on
- 3:31Speaker 1: the on the school bus to camp, I would sit
- 3:33Speaker 1: in the front seat and as the bus. As the
- 3:37Speaker 1: bus pulled in for each stop, the bus driver would
- 3:40Speaker 1: allow me to operate the mechanism that opened up the
- 3:43Speaker 1: school bus door. And I thought I was the coolest
- 3:48Speaker 1: mofo in the world as the door operator. Now wait,
- 3:51Speaker 1: this is my point. Was that I got in trouble
- 3:54Speaker 1: one day at camp and the counselors told the bus
- 3:57Speaker 1: driver that I had been bad and I was not
- 3:59Speaker 1: allowed to operate rate the door that day, and I
- 4:01Speaker 1: was crushed. I was I sat and pouted, and I
- 4:06Speaker 1: just feel that should be something like your punishment. You
- 4:08Speaker 1: don't get to five six seven eight when you've been naughty.
- 4:11Speaker 2: But I already five six seven I know.
- 4:13Speaker 1: Well, I'm just trying to lay down the rules. Maybe
- 4:15Speaker 1: Joel can can start to make like a bible of
- 4:18Speaker 1: sorts of the rules of the show.
- 4:20Speaker 2: Okay, how old were you when all of this happened?
- 4:22Speaker 1: This was last year, and no I don't know daycamp.
- 4:28Speaker 1: How old you at day camp? Seven eight?
- 4:31Speaker 2: Ship? Well, then yes, I can understand.
- 4:33Speaker 1: I was five six seven eight. No, I'm just kidding.
- 4:35Speaker 1: All right, Let's bring in Neil Flynn, Dan. Push the button.
- 4:38Speaker 2: Ladies and gentlemen give it up.
- 4:40Speaker 5: Four.
- 4:41Speaker 1: Yeah, Hi Neil Flynn, a you fellas.
- 4:48Speaker 2: How's it going.
- 4:52Speaker 5: Going? Well?
- 4:54Speaker 2: Excellent?
- 4:54Speaker 1: There he is? There is Hi Neil. This is a
- 4:57Speaker 1: Joel and and I think you met Dan briefly.
- 5:00Speaker 5: Yes. I was teaching him about computers and things like that.
- 5:07Speaker 1: It's so good to see you, man.
- 5:08Speaker 2: It is good to see you.
- 5:10Speaker 5: You too. Donald's literally in the closet, good minute.
- 5:12Speaker 2: I am literally in the closet.
- 5:14Speaker 1: It started. It started Neil because it was it was
- 5:17Speaker 1: the best place for sound, because it had all his
- 5:19Speaker 1: clothes as a sound dampening thing. And then he realized
- 5:21Speaker 1: that he could hide from his family in there. So
- 5:24Speaker 1: he goes there sometimes even when we're not recording the podcast,
- 5:26Speaker 1: to escape his his children.
- 5:28Speaker 2: This is the this is the safest place in my house.
- 5:31Speaker 2: My kids don't find my clothes amusing or interesting enough
- 5:36Speaker 2: to want to hang out in the closet, so.
- 5:38Speaker 5: I can't say I ever found my father's clothes amusing. Uh,
- 5:44Speaker 5: we are any are any of your kids big enough
- 5:45Speaker 5: to wear your clothes? Now?
- 5:47Speaker 2: No? I no, thank good. Well, yeah, well, yeah, I
- 5:50Speaker 2: have an eighteen year old with us, but uh, he
- 5:53Speaker 2: doesn't necessarily like the clothes I wear. He's more into
- 5:58Speaker 2: that supreme style and stuff like that. Me personally, I
- 6:03Speaker 2: you know, I've dumbed down my gear a little bit
- 6:06Speaker 2: and now I'm a golf shirt and shorts kind of guy.
- 6:09Speaker 2: And so what you see behind me is a bunch
- 6:12Speaker 2: of golf shirts and then my shorts are over there.
- 6:16Speaker 1: That Neil, that was your probably first and last tour
- 6:18Speaker 1: ever of Donald's clothes.
- 6:20Speaker 2: Yeah, well, you know you asked, but I do. I
- 6:27Speaker 2: do remember. I do remember when my father's clothes became
- 6:29Speaker 2: interesting to me and I wanted to wear all of
- 6:31Speaker 2: his gear. And I would go into my dad's closet
- 6:35Speaker 2: and take his shirts which were oversized for me, which
- 6:38Speaker 2: at the time was really cool. And he had like
- 6:41Speaker 2: a bunch of designer things that I didn't you know,
- 6:44Speaker 2: he had like back in the day when jabbou was
- 6:47Speaker 2: really popular, or you know, shirts like that, And I
- 6:50Speaker 2: remember going.
- 6:50Speaker 1: In his closet, Tini, do you remember those?
- 6:53Speaker 2: No? I remember, No, I don't.
- 6:54Speaker 1: I was like the sweatsuit of sweatsuit, okay, but.
- 6:57Speaker 2: I remember going in his closet and taking a really
- 6:59Speaker 2: expense shirt and wearing it outside and ripping it and
- 7:04Speaker 2: being like, oh shit, my dad's gonna kill me. My
- 7:06Speaker 2: dad's gonna kill me, and having to tell him. And
- 7:09Speaker 2: my dad didn't come home all the time, right, So
- 7:12Speaker 2: my dad would leave in the morning and then come
- 7:14Speaker 2: back maybe you know, three four days later. You know,
- 7:18Speaker 2: that's just how my dad rolls. And and I remember
- 7:26Speaker 2: having to wait for him to come home to tell
- 7:29Speaker 2: him that I ripped one of his really expensive shirts.
- 7:32Speaker 2: And he wasn't too beat up about it, but I
- 7:34Speaker 2: remember the fear for three days I had to wait,
- 7:37Speaker 2: and you know, my mom being like, he's gonna kick
- 7:39Speaker 2: your ass and me being like god, and.
- 7:43Speaker 5: Then find ripped the shirt.
- 7:44Speaker 2: Like playing playing something stupid, like we were playing in
- 7:48Speaker 2: on a jungle gym and we would play tag where
- 7:50Speaker 2: you couldn't touch the ground sure, and the jungle gym
- 7:53Speaker 2: was huge, was big enough for you to jump from
- 7:56Speaker 2: you know, the slide to you know, uh, one of
- 8:01Speaker 2: the houses or wooden houses or some.
- 8:03Speaker 5: Shit, yeah, or plant you were a kid.
- 8:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I was a kid wearing my dad's oversized, expensive shirt.
- 8:09Speaker 1: And what made you think, like, you know what I'm
- 8:11Speaker 1: gonna rock to the jungle gym today. Is Dad's expensive shirt?
- 8:14Speaker 2: I just, you know, because everybody was wearing jabot, you
- 8:17Speaker 2: know what I mean. And I thought, well, if he
- 8:19Speaker 2: has a shirt, I can go outside and I'll have
- 8:22Speaker 2: this really crisp and it was like and it was
- 8:24Speaker 2: fucked up to the fuck up thing was it was
- 8:26Speaker 2: like in plastic and had just come from the cleaners
- 8:28Speaker 2: and stuff. So I kind of knew. I kind of knew,
- 8:31Speaker 2: like dude took the plastic off.
- 8:34Speaker 5: I told.
- 8:37Speaker 2: And I made a mistake. It's one of those things
- 8:39Speaker 2: like I watched my kids now do to ship where
- 8:41Speaker 2: it's like, what were you thinking, why would why would
- 8:44Speaker 2: you even do something like that? And their answer is,
- 8:48Speaker 2: I don't know. And that was my answer to I
- 8:50Speaker 2: don't know, ye just impulsive, impulsive.
- 8:55Speaker 1: My sister when I went close shopping, I remember I
- 8:58Speaker 1: was in like fourth grade and it was the height
- 9:00Speaker 1: of I don't know if you remember guest jeans. It
- 9:03Speaker 1: was like the height of guest jeans and for mostly
- 9:06Speaker 1: for women. I think at the time, I'm guessing because
- 9:09Speaker 1: my sister convinced me and my mom that I should
- 9:12Speaker 1: wear guest jeans as well. In fourth grade, and they
- 9:15Speaker 1: were very uh you could always tell they were guest
- 9:17Speaker 1: jeans because they had a triangle on the on the back,
- 9:19Speaker 1: on the back, jean pocket. So I thought, Okay, you know,
- 9:22Speaker 1: I'm not much of a style guy. I'm more of
- 9:24Speaker 1: a sweatpants T shirt kid, but you know, okay, I'll
- 9:27Speaker 1: try this out for a full day. I was bullied
- 9:31Speaker 1: by essentially the entire school. Children of all ages and
- 9:37Speaker 1: grades came by to point and laugh at me and
- 9:41Speaker 1: my guest jeans.
- 9:42Speaker 5: Because they were considered like girl jeans or.
- 9:45Speaker 1: A girl a girl and expensive I think they were.
- 9:48Speaker 1: They were like I remember them being like fifty bucks
- 9:50Speaker 1: or maybe one hundred bucks whatever whatever they I mean,
- 9:52Speaker 1: it was like too expensive for a kid to have anyway,
- 9:56Speaker 1: but I think probably fourth grader. I don't know, I
- 9:59Speaker 1: don't know. I regret it to this day. I when
- 10:01Speaker 1: Donald start talking about his story, I felt the pain
- 10:05Speaker 1: in my heart from literally the It's like it's like
- 10:07Speaker 1: it's like what's his name on on the on the
- 10:10Speaker 1: Simpsons going. It was literally that for a full day
- 10:13Speaker 1: of school. So then I go home, I go home
- 10:16Speaker 1: in tears and I tell my mom, like I hate
- 10:19Speaker 1: these jeans. I'm so everyone made funny me all day long.
- 10:22Speaker 1: I fucking hate these jeans. And she was like, well,
- 10:25Speaker 1: you know we're gonna do Zach, those dream jeans are
- 10:27Speaker 1: perfectly fine. We're gonna take my little stitch cutter and
- 10:30Speaker 1: we're gonna cut the triangle off off the pocket. Well
- 10:34Speaker 1: she did that, and they still had the marking of
- 10:37Speaker 1: where the triangle was.
- 10:41Speaker 5: Yeah, now you have some sort of knockoff guess jeans.
- 10:45Speaker 1: Yeah exactly, but it's worse, exactly, Neil. Now I'm wearing
- 10:51Speaker 1: black market guess Jeane. Well, Neil, thank you for coming on.
- 10:56Speaker 1: We Donald and I started started doing this silly little thing,
- 10:59Speaker 1: and both of us when we post about it on
- 11:03Speaker 1: Instagram and Twitter, I would say that like sixty percent
- 11:06Speaker 1: of the comments people are right, right, are when are
- 11:08Speaker 1: you having Neil Flynn on? So you are very beloved
- 11:11Speaker 1: by beloved or beloved by either one by the people
- 11:15Speaker 1: either one.
- 11:16Speaker 5: It's like divisive and divisive all of a sudden, divisive
- 11:19Speaker 5: became divisive because that's how Barack Obama pronounced it. Really, yeah,
- 11:26Speaker 5: people say divisive. I had never heard it pronounced that
- 11:28Speaker 5: way before Obama said, Well, you.
- 11:30Speaker 2: Know, if Obama said it Yeah, now I'm switching.
- 11:33Speaker 1: Now, I'm switching out.
- 11:34Speaker 2: I'm switching It's a few years late, but I'm changing,
- 11:37Speaker 2: switching it up, switching it up.
- 11:40Speaker 5: If he starts wearing JBO shirts, That's what I'm gonna
- 11:42Speaker 5: do too.
- 11:43Speaker 1: He probably does wear guest jeans, though he's a stylish guy.
- 11:46Speaker 1: I don't know if they're still in style anymore.
- 11:47Speaker 2: I don't know if. Yeah, I'm not sure how big
- 11:49Speaker 2: Guess is. I don't think I know somewhere somebody the
- 11:52Speaker 2: CEO of guesses like, we're still ahead, We're still ahead.
- 11:56Speaker 1: Yeah, we're going to get Donald know how we're gonna
- 11:59Speaker 1: get send guest Gene in the mail, because sometimes when
- 12:01Speaker 1: we mention things on here, we get sent in the mail.
- 12:03Speaker 1: I got a care package from Omission. I have to
- 12:06Speaker 1: tell him, is Neil. It's really lame in Hollywood to say,
- 12:08Speaker 1: but I don't eat gluten. But I love beer, and
- 12:12Speaker 1: so there's a really good pale ale called Omission, which
- 12:15Speaker 1: I mentioned because we were all talking about beer. They
- 12:17Speaker 1: sent me not only a beautiful care package of Omission beer,
- 12:20Speaker 1: but an Omission backpack.
- 12:22Speaker 2: I've yet to receive any of this.
- 12:23Speaker 5: When you come to school in the backpack. I'm going
- 12:26Speaker 5: to make fun of you. You got a mission bagpack.
- 12:34Speaker 1: You're gonna be like, Zach, Please tell me you're not
- 12:36Speaker 1: wearing a gluten free beer backpack.
- 12:40Speaker 5: I don't really even know what that is. Gluten, but
- 12:43Speaker 5: I think you can get away with not etene gluten
- 12:45Speaker 5: in Hollywood.
- 12:46Speaker 1: Yeah, you can. It's just when I you know, this
- 12:48Speaker 1: podcast has listened all over the world, and whenever I
- 12:50Speaker 1: mentioned it, I cringe because I know people are like, oh,
- 12:53Speaker 1: what a Hollywood tool.
- 12:54Speaker 2: Not even you know, I thought that sparkling water was universal.
- 12:59Speaker 2: You go in like Texas and you'll be like, can
- 13:03Speaker 2: I get some sparkling water? And they'll be like, we
- 13:06Speaker 2: don't have that, say club soda. Maybe I went to
- 13:11Speaker 2: someplace and they were like, we do have club soda.
- 13:12Speaker 1: Yes, what's the clubference between club soda and sparkling water?
- 13:15Speaker 1: Does anybody know.
- 13:16Speaker 2: Club soda is carbon and sparkling water is sodium? If
- 13:21Speaker 2: I no.
- 13:22Speaker 1: No, Neil knows.
- 13:23Speaker 5: No, You're right. I have a cat. Okay, And of
- 13:27Speaker 5: course they listen when you're saying no, yeah, but he's
- 13:30Speaker 5: in my.
- 13:31Speaker 1: Oh you were saying no to the cat. I thought
- 13:33Speaker 1: you were. I thought you were heavily. I thought you
- 13:36Speaker 1: were very clearly opining on.
- 13:38Speaker 2: Donald's no no, no no.
- 13:41Speaker 1: And then I was waiting for you to go into
- 13:43Speaker 1: your explanation, but you never did.
- 13:49Speaker 5: Don't try to give me that club soda story.
- 13:51Speaker 1: All right, Wait, Joelle is letting us know. Club soda
- 13:54Speaker 1: is artificially infused with carbon and mineral salts. Similarly, seltzer
- 14:00Speaker 1: is artificially carbonated but generally does not contain any added minerals.
- 14:04Speaker 1: Sparkling mineral water, on the other hand, is naturally carbonated
- 14:08Speaker 1: from a spring or well, how is something naturally carbonated?
- 14:12Speaker 2: I don't know, dude, carbon get into it.
- 14:15Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 14:15Speaker 2: I guess.
- 14:16Speaker 1: Well, that was a very thorough explanation, but I still
- 14:18Speaker 1: didn't understand it.
- 14:20Speaker 2: I feel like you cussed and cut and pasted that
- 14:22Speaker 2: though from from.
- 14:23Speaker 1: She didn't just freehand type that. She just got it
- 14:25Speaker 1: off the web.
- 14:27Speaker 5: You know, speaking of places that don't have things. We're
- 14:31Speaker 5: in some backwoods plays touring with a show and stopped
- 14:36Speaker 5: a kind of a dairy queen type of thing, but
- 14:38Speaker 5: sort of in love a forest for some reason, and
- 14:42Speaker 5: one of the girls with us, she's going to get
- 14:43Speaker 5: a cheeseburger. She says, what kind of cheese do you have?
- 14:47Speaker 5: I think this is somewhere in Michigan, and the person
- 14:49Speaker 5: literally goes, cheese. It's square, it's orange, and it's flat.
- 15:01Speaker 5: That person went home and told her family, you wouldn't
- 15:04Speaker 5: believe what this girl asked me to do.
- 15:08Speaker 1: Kind of cheese, it's it's cheese.
- 15:16Speaker 2: So all right, Neil, I was gonna do it. You
- 15:19Speaker 2: got to.
- 15:21Speaker 1: Do you do it, You do it?
- 15:22Speaker 2: No, no, no, go ahead. I was just gonna be.
- 15:24Speaker 2: I was just gonna be, like, I was just gonna
- 15:25Speaker 2: say this, Neil, You're one of the few people in
- 15:29Speaker 2: the history of television, there's like a handful of people
- 15:32Speaker 2: that went from a show that ran for eight years
- 15:36Speaker 2: to a show that ran for eleven year. What did
- 15:39Speaker 2: the middle eleven nine to a nine year?
- 15:43Speaker 1: Seventeen years?
- 15:44Speaker 2: Seventeen years straight on television?
- 15:46Speaker 5: Man, I know?
- 15:47Speaker 1: And that actually and then actually knew you went onto
- 15:49Speaker 1: another show right away, right, So you did eight and
- 15:51Speaker 1: then that one didn't last, right, But you did eighteen
- 15:53Speaker 1: years in a row on TV? Yeah, yes, that might
- 15:56Speaker 1: be a record that You've got to be on a
- 15:57Speaker 1: very short list.
- 15:59Speaker 2: It has to be so.
- 16:00Speaker 5: But if there is whatever the list is, however long
- 16:04Speaker 5: it is, I am the least famous person on it.
- 16:09Speaker 1: That's not true.
- 16:10Speaker 2: I agree, I disagree.
- 16:13Speaker 5: No, that's true, But it's just you know, I was
- 16:15Speaker 5: trying for a long time before Scrubs came along, and
- 16:18Speaker 5: then I finally the door opened, you know, and I
- 16:21Speaker 5: got let into the party, and luckily enough I just stayed.
- 16:26Speaker 1: Now tell us Neil, that's a good segue into because
- 16:29Speaker 1: whenever we have the cast members on, we try and
- 16:31Speaker 1: we've all sort of told our stories of of how
- 16:34Speaker 1: he got on the show. And Bill sold a really
- 16:36Speaker 1: funny story about you and which I'll let you tell
- 16:39Speaker 1: or your version of it, because he was talking about
- 16:41Speaker 1: how you initially read for Cox and and then when
- 16:44Speaker 1: he said you wanted to be the janitor, you said
- 16:45Speaker 1: something like, but I'll still have a stethoscope, right, or.
- 16:48Speaker 5: Something that, yeah, well build things do embellish his story?
- 16:55Speaker 1: Oh really? Yeah, over time, I know if you were
- 16:59Speaker 1: if if you've heard a Bill story like at the beginning,
- 17:02Speaker 1: and then what it's like in two years. It's like
- 17:04Speaker 1: the ultimate game of telephone. It's become something exaggerated.
- 17:07Speaker 5: But yes, and I thought before what kind of person
- 17:09Speaker 5: just takes a story and changes, it improves it. Possibly
- 17:15Speaker 5: a comedy writer. It kind of makes sense.
- 17:19Speaker 1: But Neil, what was going on for you before? Like
- 17:21Speaker 1: what were you up to before Scrubs? And then how
- 17:23Speaker 1: did you come to be on Scrubs?
- 17:25Speaker 2: Well, I can I just say you had done a
- 17:27Speaker 2: bunch of movies though in Chicago and stuff like that.
- 17:29Speaker 5: Like small parts, small nothing of any significance.
- 17:32Speaker 2: But the baseball movie that you did. You were one
- 17:35Speaker 2: of the key players in that movie, Rookie of the Year.
- 17:39Speaker 5: It is correct, right right, And yeah, the out part
- 17:43Speaker 5: in Major League as well. I was doing baseball movies
- 17:46Speaker 5: only you know, I went into not even read but
- 17:52Speaker 5: years ago whenever they would have made eight men out.
- 17:54Speaker 5: I somehow got a chance to be one of the
- 17:57Speaker 5: baseball players. And I went in and she says, so
- 17:59Speaker 5: do you baseball? I said yeah, She said do you really?
- 18:03Speaker 5: You know, like she pushed me. I said, well, it's
- 18:06Speaker 5: not like I could have been a pro, you know,
- 18:07Speaker 5: And I saw her face fall. She lost interest in me.
- 18:11Speaker 5: I'm twenty five years old. If I could have been
- 18:13Speaker 5: a pro, i'd be a pro. And then I see
- 18:16Speaker 5: the movie and there's the baseball players they're playing catch.
- 18:20Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 18:20Speaker 5: It sounds like doing the movie throwing the ball back
- 18:23Speaker 5: and forth. We only got pros for this, you know. Anyway,
- 18:29Speaker 5: So I wasn't in that baseball movie, but I was
- 18:31Speaker 5: just doing little parts of We're Getting Get I was
- 18:34Speaker 5: starting to get guest star on things a little bit,
- 18:36Speaker 5: and and then this came up. I actually, I feel
- 18:41Speaker 5: like I've told this story before. It Is it okay
- 18:43Speaker 5: to repeat yourself?
- 18:43Speaker 1: Yes? Yeah, man, Our fans might not know it, and
- 18:47Speaker 1: I'm sure they'll love the story.
- 18:49Speaker 5: Okay. I was doing guest stars on things, and whereas
- 18:53Speaker 5: the first half of my career i'd been kind of
- 18:54Speaker 5: a straight actor, kind of a drama leaning, drifted over
- 19:00Speaker 5: into the comedy side, and thank goodness I did, because
- 19:02Speaker 5: that's where things opened up. I had done an episode
- 19:04Speaker 5: of Drew Carrey and Christa Miller was on that show,
- 19:10Speaker 5: and shortly afterwards friends of mine said that they're going
- 19:12Speaker 5: out to dinner with Chris Miller and her new husband,
- 19:16Speaker 5: who turns out was Bill Lawrence. And I said, years ago,
- 19:19Speaker 5: I met a Bill Lawrence. We played on the same
- 19:22Speaker 5: basketball team out here right before I left and went
- 19:24Speaker 5: back to Chicago, and it was the same guy. And
- 19:29Speaker 5: so we you know, I went to their house for
- 19:33Speaker 5: drinks or whatever, and then within a month or two
- 19:36Speaker 5: he had this show that he had created, and so
- 19:38Speaker 5: I got called in and I said, thanks for calling
- 19:41Speaker 5: me in. He said, I didn't. I didn't give him
- 19:44Speaker 5: your name. They because the same people that directed to
- 19:46Speaker 5: Drew Carrey. I think cash scrubs.
- 19:49Speaker 1: Okay.
- 19:50Speaker 5: Anyways, so then I read the Doctor Cox and he
- 19:53Speaker 5: said that was good. You're not going to get this part.
- 19:55Speaker 5: I already know who I'm going to give it to.
- 19:57Speaker 5: I said, oh, well, that's you know, fair enough, and
- 20:00Speaker 5: he says, but you want to read this. He hands
- 20:01Speaker 5: me two pages and it's the scene with the janitor
- 20:04Speaker 5: and JD at the door, and he goes, good, you
- 20:07Speaker 5: want to do that? He said, sure, you know, it's
- 20:10Speaker 5: a job. As a job, that's all I've been doing.
- 20:12Speaker 5: It's five hundred bucks or whatever it is for the
- 20:14Speaker 5: end of the day. And then I think what was
- 20:19Speaker 5: significant is between doing the pilot and that's all I
- 20:22Speaker 5: was promised the janitor wasn't going to do anything else.
- 20:27Speaker 5: Bill came to and saw an imp prov show that
- 20:31Speaker 5: I did, and he enjoyed it and learned. I don't know,
- 20:37Speaker 5: but I could think on my feet or whatever. And
- 20:40Speaker 5: I think this made all the difference. That probably the
- 20:43Speaker 5: first scene of the next episode when the show got
- 20:46Speaker 5: picked up, we rehearsed it. He goes, yeah, good, and
- 20:49Speaker 5: then if you think of something else, just throw it
- 20:51Speaker 5: in do a take that or we would goo for
- 20:54Speaker 5: around and rehearsal. You would say good, keep that remember.
- 20:58Speaker 5: And so that for me, considering it was a pretty
- 21:01Speaker 5: small part that wash that made all the difference that
- 21:05Speaker 5: I got to have such latitude.
- 21:07Speaker 1: What was amazing for for me watching you was Bill's
- 21:11Speaker 1: respect for how understandably for how funny you were, because
- 21:18Speaker 1: you know, with everyone else he would, you know, the
- 21:20Speaker 1: rule on Scrubs was kind of like, okay, you know,
- 21:23Speaker 1: make sure you get it as written and then if
- 21:25Speaker 1: you guys have time, you can you can mess around
- 21:27Speaker 1: a little bit, and and and and you know, and
- 21:29Speaker 1: and and and we all did that. We all would
- 21:31Speaker 1: would come up with stuff. But with Neil, Bill would
- 21:33Speaker 1: just be like, all right, Neil, you can make something
- 21:35Speaker 1: funnier than this, So what do you what do you
- 21:36Speaker 1: want to say? And invariably Neil would just come out
- 21:40Speaker 1: and sometimes they were long and like and and Bill
- 21:43Speaker 1: would put them in, but they were. I mean, Neil,
- 21:45Speaker 1: I you know, all my stuff was with you the
- 21:47Speaker 1: first season, and I just I don't.
- 21:49Speaker 5: Think I ever left with you.
- 21:51Speaker 1: Sorry, that's what I meant to say. I was just
- 21:53Speaker 1: I'd never really worked with anyone like that. I never
- 21:55Speaker 1: worked I mean, I was so blown away by you
- 21:57Speaker 1: because I had never I mean it was my first
- 21:58Speaker 1: big job, obviously, but even in my other stuff I
- 22:00Speaker 1: had done, I had never worked with someone who could
- 22:03Speaker 1: think so quickly on their feet and would just be
- 22:04Speaker 1: adding stuff that was, with all due respect to Bill,
- 22:07Speaker 1: even finnier than what was written on the page.
- 22:10Speaker 5: And Bill said, if it's funnier than what I wrote,
- 22:13Speaker 5: that's fine. People will think I wrote it. Yeah, So
- 22:17Speaker 5: he was fine with that. Ye. Well, I appreciate that compliment.
- 22:20Speaker 5: And it was a I think, very rare situation at
- 22:26Speaker 5: that unfolded the way it did. And when when that
- 22:30Speaker 5: show ended and I went on to the middle, I said, well,
- 22:33Speaker 5: this is great. The only the only bad part will
- 22:36Speaker 5: be if they're sticklers about the script, because I'm not
- 22:38Speaker 5: used to that, and they were, and I had a
- 22:43Speaker 5: lot more to say.
- 22:45Speaker 1: That must have been so frustrating for you, because I mean,
- 22:47Speaker 1: I just can't one thing about Bill. We always joke
- 22:49Speaker 1: about his ego and how competitive he is, but he
- 22:52Speaker 1: really always he was very open to people contributing. That's
- 22:55Speaker 1: not to say, you know, he was the editor ultimately,
- 22:57Speaker 1: and he would decide what was in and what wasn't
- 22:59Speaker 1: and and sometimes we thought stuff was hilarious that he
- 23:02Speaker 1: wouldn't use it. But he was very open to everybody collaborating.
- 23:06Speaker 1: And then it's like Neil said, he goes on to
- 23:07Speaker 1: another show and they're like, great, we just want you
- 23:10Speaker 1: to say exactly what's written, and you can't. You know,
- 23:13Speaker 1: if I hear that story and I go, what were
- 23:15Speaker 1: you thinking? I mean, you you contributed so much to
- 23:20Speaker 1: the humor of Scrubs. I just can't believe. It's like
- 23:22Speaker 1: not letting a racehorse run.
- 23:25Speaker 5: Well, you know, the difference if it's a racehorses running
- 23:28Speaker 5: around and someone says, okay, I can see that you're
- 23:32Speaker 5: very fast. This is a farm, we need you to
- 23:36Speaker 5: pull that plot running gets it. The difference is the
- 23:41Speaker 5: tone of the show Scrubs, even though it had it's nice, uh,
- 23:46Speaker 5: you know, it could turn on a dime and be
- 23:48Speaker 5: heartfelt and sincere in that other than that, and much
- 23:51Speaker 5: of it it wasn't very grounded. It was well all
- 23:53Speaker 5: the fantas season. I mean it was very and the
- 23:57Speaker 5: janitor could have turned out to be a Martian. Okay, sure,
- 24:01Speaker 5: I guess sure. I was playing a family man in Indiana.
- 24:06Speaker 5: You can't just say crazy things.
- 24:09Speaker 1: Right right right where in One of your specialties was
- 24:13Speaker 1: just I remember that Bill told the story about you
- 24:16Speaker 1: getting the one thing you improve that he kept all
- 24:18Speaker 1: in about getting into a fight with a with a chicken.
- 24:22Speaker 5: Do you remember that, Yeah, it was a duck. I
- 24:24Speaker 5: think a duck. I think I feel like that was
- 24:27Speaker 5: written or partly written or mostly written, and I might
- 24:30Speaker 5: have gone off a little bit, but I think.
- 24:31Speaker 1: I think the start of it may have been. But
- 24:33Speaker 1: as I recall you, as you did so many times hilariously,
- 24:36Speaker 1: would just go off with it, and so, you know
- 24:38Speaker 1: a lot of times we'd be like, this is hilarious.
- 24:40Speaker 1: I don't know if Bill's gonna put this in the
- 24:41Speaker 1: show or not, but on set we're all fucking cracking up.
- 24:44Speaker 1: And then and then it almost invariably you'd see the
- 24:46Speaker 1: episode cutting together and it would be in there. I
- 24:48Speaker 1: remember one of my favorite I mean, you and I
- 24:50Speaker 1: had some I mean I'm not just saying this because
- 24:52Speaker 1: you're here, man, I I genuinely think, and no offense, Donald,
- 24:55Speaker 1: I love you to death, but I thought, I genuinely
- 24:57Speaker 1: think you've probably made me laugh harder than anyone else
- 25:00Speaker 1: on earth.
- 25:01Speaker 2: Well wow, okay, then I remember I remember an episode
- 25:07Speaker 2: and they wound up changing the episode. But the storyline
- 25:10Speaker 2: between the two of you was about a piece of
- 25:13Speaker 2: fruit and that you had never tried before, that that
- 25:17Speaker 2: the janitor had never tried before. And the whole storyline
- 25:23Speaker 2: was you finally getting this fruit at the end of
- 25:27Speaker 2: the show and tasting the fruit, and and I don't
- 25:31Speaker 2: remember where it went after that, but I just remember
- 25:33Speaker 2: you doing a bunch of really funny things about fruit,
- 25:38Speaker 2: and then they changed it to like a scooter or
- 25:40Speaker 2: some shit like that. I don't know what it was.
- 25:42Speaker 5: Oh, you remember this reminds me yesterday because Zach sent
- 25:46Speaker 5: me an episode of this thing to Live Listen with
- 25:50Speaker 5: John McGinley. Yeah, and it came up, what episode wasn't
- 25:55Speaker 5: the Janitor in? Yes?
- 25:56Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 25:57Speaker 2: Was that the episode that is it cups?
- 26:01Speaker 5: Yes, I think I because there was an outtake of
- 26:03Speaker 5: me wiping out on a scooter coming in the front door.
- 26:07Speaker 5: Of the hospital, but that had never aired because I
- 26:10Speaker 5: was That was the first season and I was edited
- 26:12Speaker 5: out of it, and that's the only time that happened.
- 26:15Speaker 2: I knew it. I knew, I knew it.
- 26:17Speaker 1: I knew I knew as the worst memory in the world.
- 26:19Speaker 1: Remembered something because I thought, I thought the story was
- 26:22Speaker 1: so funny.
- 26:22Speaker 2: The fruit story was so funny, and it was like
- 26:25Speaker 2: a peach or a plump, and you kept improvising different
- 26:28Speaker 2: fruits when.
- 26:29Speaker 5: You were telling that story. I have and I still
- 26:31Speaker 5: have no memory whatsoever of a fruit and a plot
- 26:35Speaker 5: line about fruit because I wasn't in it, so I
- 26:40Speaker 5: blocked it out of my.
- 26:43Speaker 1: SPIKEE Neil one of my favorite I have two favorite
- 26:47Speaker 1: moments that always come into mind when I think of
- 26:49Speaker 1: laughing with you. The first is in the Wizard of
- 26:53Speaker 1: Oz episode when you and I did this whole long
- 26:56Speaker 1: riff about about seeing a manatee under the hospital, and
- 27:03Speaker 1: then you said, I said, is there some sort of
- 27:06Speaker 1: underground canal system or something? I think I I think
- 27:09Speaker 1: I saw a manatee And you said, was his name Julian?
- 27:14Speaker 1: And then I said, I don't know. We we didn't
- 27:17Speaker 1: exchange pleasantries, and you go, that's Julian.
- 27:23Speaker 5: That was good. The writers though, I don't know, no.
- 27:27Speaker 1: No, that was all me and you just being silly again.
- 27:30Speaker 1: It was one of those things where we were like,
- 27:32Speaker 1: I don't think this is ever going to be in
- 27:33Speaker 1: the show, but we were just cracking each other up
- 27:35Speaker 1: about there's a manatee under the hospital and has a name,
- 27:38Speaker 1: and you you're familiar with his social behavior.
- 27:42Speaker 5: This is what I'm talking about, being able to wing it. Yeah,
- 27:46Speaker 5: I couldn't have thrown that in in the middle. I
- 27:48Speaker 5: was working on Corey Mike. It was good. There's a
- 27:51Speaker 5: man he lives underground one that yeah, you do, go ahead,
- 28:01Speaker 5: it's uh, it's it's this.
- 28:03Speaker 6: It's finger thumb finger.
- 28:08Speaker 1: If you guys want to watch on the on the
- 28:10Speaker 1: scrubs gag reel blipper reel that you can find on YouTube.
- 28:13Speaker 1: I forgot what season it is. But Neil, the janitor
- 28:16Speaker 1: as wife had made me scrubs short shorts and and
- 28:20Speaker 1: he's like, look, I really want you to wear these
- 28:22Speaker 1: two work, and I'm like, I'm like, I'm I'm a
- 28:25Speaker 1: I'm a doctor. I can't wear short shorts to work.
- 28:30Speaker 5: A pair of scrubs cut off really high.
- 28:32Speaker 1: Yeah, it was so high like my balls would have
- 28:34Speaker 1: hung out of them. And then Neil goes, the good
- 28:38Speaker 1: Lord didn't bless my wife with all ten fingers. She
- 28:41Speaker 1: only has pointer on one hand and thumb pinky on
- 28:44Speaker 1: the other, meaning that that it had been really hard
- 28:49Speaker 1: for her to make these short shorts, and I was
- 28:51Speaker 1: disrespecting her. I didn't wear them, and I just couldn't
- 28:54Speaker 1: make it through. I could not make it through with
- 28:56Speaker 1: with Neil going pointer and thumbinky.
- 28:59Speaker 5: That's, by the way I life. That probably doesn't exist.
- 29:03Speaker 2: No, yeah, she didn't. She didn't exist because you get
- 29:05Speaker 2: married at the end of the at.
- 29:07Speaker 1: The end of this true, that's true. And Neil, you know, Neil,
- 29:11Speaker 1: we've been joking this first season. It's down like, you know,
- 29:13Speaker 1: we haven't seen these in twenty years, and as I'm
- 29:16Speaker 1: sure you haven't. And you know Bill, you know one
- 29:19Speaker 1: of the Bill isms that he always says is, you know,
- 29:21Speaker 1: I was debating season one if the Janitor was just
- 29:23Speaker 1: gonna be a figment of JD's imagination. Well, every episode
- 29:26Speaker 1: we go through, for the most part, we see little
- 29:29Speaker 1: moments where the Janitor does interact with other people, and
- 29:32Speaker 1: every time we bring it up to Bill, We're like, so, yeah,
- 29:35Speaker 1: you're holding onto that, but you know, you know, in
- 29:37Speaker 1: this episode, the janitor, you know, for example, in this one,
- 29:40Speaker 1: he offers two baseball tickets. Sorry, Franklin god Better, who
- 29:45Speaker 1: who is one of our assistant directors, is playing the
- 29:49Speaker 1: the the actor who sees Neil with the two tickets
- 29:52Speaker 1: and says I'll go, and Neil's like, not you. And
- 29:55Speaker 1: it's like another example of like, okay, well then other
- 29:58Speaker 1: people will see the janitor.
- 29:59Speaker 5: Bill, I watched that yesterday, that that was a moment
- 30:04Speaker 5: that was added to the script that wasn't in there. Yeah,
- 30:09Speaker 5: and that you part for Franklin.
- 30:11Speaker 1: I think that might be the one of the only
- 30:13Speaker 1: times I mean you might.
- 30:14Speaker 2: Now he dressed up like the bunny. Remember Franklin dressed
- 30:16Speaker 2: up like a bunny.
- 30:17Speaker 1: No, I'm not I'm not saying that Franklin wasn't in
- 30:19Speaker 1: the show more. I'm saying where it's a really funny
- 30:22Speaker 1: moment where Neil goes, uh, what do you want to
- 30:26Speaker 1: what do you want to go to a baseball game
- 30:28Speaker 1: and have popcorn? And then Gg walks away like stop
- 30:32Speaker 1: messing with me, and then he pulls the two tickets
- 30:34Speaker 1: out of his shirt. He's like the last time I
- 30:36Speaker 1: reached out and I was laughing out loud, going, do
- 30:39Speaker 1: you think that's the only time in Scrubs history that
- 30:42Speaker 1: the janitor ever like made a genuine appeal to JD?
- 30:46Speaker 1: Very hot?
- 30:47Speaker 5: You know what if watching that, I thought, I don't
- 30:50Speaker 5: think I played that right because I said it very sarcastically.
- 30:54Speaker 5: So of course you walked away. You know, we want
- 30:57Speaker 5: to do go to a baseball game and we get up,
- 30:58Speaker 5: But I probably should have said, well, would you like
- 31:02Speaker 5: to go to a baseball game with me and we
- 31:04Speaker 5: can share popcorn? I mean, it's something that sounds a
- 31:07Speaker 5: little bit more sincere.
- 31:09Speaker 1: Right, But JD had to you know, it had to
- 31:11Speaker 1: be on the line because JD had to be like,
- 31:13Speaker 1: stop fucking with me, roll his eyes and walk away.
- 31:15Speaker 5: Right, Or maybe the janitor just has no skill at
- 31:19Speaker 5: offering an invitation. They all come out very sarcasting, right,
- 31:24Speaker 5: would you like to come to a party with me?
- 31:28Speaker 5: I guess would you marry me? Please?
- 31:33Speaker 1: So what was the troop that you were doing improv
- 31:36Speaker 1: with Neil that Bill saw you early in the early days.
- 31:41Speaker 5: We were called beer shark Mice and it was at
- 31:45Speaker 5: the Io West, which no longer exists a theater, but
- 31:48Speaker 5: we must have done it for as it turns out,
- 31:51Speaker 5: fifteen eighteen years something like that. It was crazy.
- 31:55Speaker 1: Wow.
- 31:55Speaker 5: We throw out the names real quick. Pete Honey, Dave Keckner,
- 31:59Speaker 5: Pat Finn, Mike Coleman, Paul Valancourt. I hope I didn't
- 32:03Speaker 5: forget anybody when I first moved out here, removed out
- 32:08Speaker 5: here after five years in Chicago. We had been doing
- 32:12Speaker 5: it out of theater in Chicago. Not the same group,
- 32:14Speaker 5: but all those individuals with different and he'd only put
- 32:20Speaker 5: just put a group together out here when they aw
- 32:22Speaker 5: Sharon who owns it, opened up a branch out here,
- 32:27Speaker 5: and we all had a virtually nothing to do. Nobody's
- 32:28Speaker 5: career was rolling, and so that's what that's what we
- 32:31Speaker 5: did all the time. That was maybe in.
- 32:35Speaker 1: And what was that? Was there a specific game or
- 32:37Speaker 1: that you guys would play or structure of your.
- 32:39Speaker 5: Improv Uh no, not really, but we didn't do games.
- 32:46Speaker 5: That's a different approach. It was there's something called a
- 32:52Speaker 5: herald that is a long form. We would get out there,
- 32:56Speaker 5: takes yestion and go for half hour. Yeah, and we
- 33:00Speaker 5: didn't do that, but it was along those lines, just
- 33:02Speaker 5: take a suggestion and then the audience has done particularly,
- 33:05Speaker 5: that's amazing. You just rolled for half far. It was
- 33:09Speaker 5: a good group, and it was it's not necessarily dead now,
- 33:12Speaker 5: but it was great fun and a great thing to do,
- 33:16Speaker 5: and I enjoyed doing it. And then after a while
- 33:20Speaker 5: sometimes they still want to do a show, and I say,
- 33:23Speaker 5: you know, I'm closing in on sixty years old. I
- 33:25Speaker 5: don't think I was twenty five. I wasn't interested in
- 33:28Speaker 5: saying sixty year olds entertainment in any way.
- 33:32Speaker 1: Oh, I have no doubt that you would sell out.
- 33:35Speaker 5: Man.
- 33:36Speaker 1: People love seeing you, and you were so good at it.
- 33:39Speaker 1: I mean I remember thinking that when we're doing Scrubs,
- 33:41Speaker 1: that that just cracking up with the stuff you would
- 33:44Speaker 1: come up with and going out. I would love to
- 33:45Speaker 1: go see one of your improv shows. We may have
- 33:48Speaker 1: gone on when we weren't involved. There no, just maybe
- 33:52Speaker 1: he came with when.
- 33:52Speaker 2: We were doing when we were doing scrubs. Were you
- 33:55Speaker 2: doing this show too? Were you doing the improv show?
- 33:59Speaker 5: Want?
- 34:00Speaker 1: I feel like I must have come once.
- 34:01Speaker 5: I don't think you did, because I didn't, you know,
- 34:05Speaker 5: feel strongly about this. But people had heard that this
- 34:09Speaker 5: was going on and it went on for all the
- 34:11Speaker 5: years of the Scrubs, and so people would often I
- 34:15Speaker 5: don't know if they're just striking up a conversation or
- 34:17Speaker 5: being you know, they really meant it when you do
- 34:21Speaker 5: that show years? What time it like for the literally
- 34:25Speaker 5: like for the fiftieth time, I'm saying to somebody, Saturday night,
- 34:28Speaker 5: eight o'clock, I owe theater, and as far as I recall,
- 34:33Speaker 5: no one ever came. So I got tired of being asked.
- 34:35Speaker 5: You know what I mean, I didn't end. I don't
- 34:37Speaker 5: need anybody to come, but the house's full.
- 34:40Speaker 1: Yeah, I saw a video or something I saw.
- 34:41Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what we did. We saw a video. Bill
- 34:43Speaker 2: showed us a video.
- 34:43Speaker 1: Maybe that's what it was. Bill was sort of was
- 34:46Speaker 1: showing us a video of you. And because I feel
- 34:49Speaker 1: like I have a somewhere in my brain memory.
- 34:52Speaker 2: Yea, and there was you and somebody on stage and
- 34:54Speaker 2: it was like, uh, where you were a drill not
- 34:59Speaker 2: a drill sergeant, but something like that, where you were
- 35:01Speaker 2: an army and I just remember it a long time.
- 35:05Speaker 1: It was you remember that improv from twenty years ago?
- 35:08Speaker 5: Right? Yeah, that's uh, no one ever. Maybe it's possible,
- 35:14Speaker 5: but pretty much you never remember seeing someone will say,
- 35:17Speaker 5: I shay you guys, don'verybody once you were firement and
- 35:21Speaker 5: I don't I remember that?
- 35:24Speaker 1: Shall we get into the show, So, Neil, what we
- 35:26Speaker 1: do is we just kind of talked through the episode
- 35:29Speaker 1: and point out things that made us laugh or or
- 35:32Speaker 1: or or just any thoughts we have. But we should
- 35:34Speaker 1: probably take a break, right, Joelle, I got a break, Neil.
- 35:38Speaker 1: This is a real show. We have commercials and.
- 35:40Speaker 5: Shit, I know I heard. I'm very impressed.
- 35:42Speaker 1: Yes, no joking around when it comes to being real, right, Donald,
- 35:47Speaker 1: I mean, now this is the real deal. This is
- 35:50Speaker 1: like a real radio show.
- 35:51Speaker 2: Well, I mean a real podcast, a real podcast. Yeah, yeah,
- 35:54Speaker 2: that's how you want to.
- 35:55Speaker 1: All right, tell the people we'll be right back.
- 35:56Speaker 2: Donald, you already did.
- 35:58Speaker 1: Okay, we'll be right back. Alrighty, we're back. We're with
- 36:10Speaker 1: Neil Flynn. Everybody the people spoke, they said Neil Flynn,
- 36:14Speaker 1: bring on Neil Flynn, and we got him.
- 36:16Speaker 5: Has everybody else been here? Uh? You are? No.
- 36:19Speaker 1: Ken has not been on the Jenkins, But we've had
- 36:22Speaker 1: the other lead cast members.
- 36:24Speaker 2: Yeah, we had Judy on, We've had Johnny on, We've
- 36:27Speaker 2: had Sarah on. We now have you on?
- 36:29Speaker 5: We had Bill on Christa, you know, speaking of Ken Jenkins.
- 36:35Speaker 5: I am just but you know when we started the show,
- 36:38Speaker 5: he was the old guy. Yeah without you, no offense,
- 36:41Speaker 5: but clearly yeah, that's how we thought of him. And
- 36:45Speaker 5: you even more than I because you're younger than I am.
- 36:48Speaker 5: I'm almost that age.
- 36:51Speaker 2: You're almost the age.
- 36:54Speaker 5: Yes, I'm months away. And I think Johnny ce' is
- 36:56Speaker 5: a little older than me, so I think he probably
- 36:58Speaker 5: is that age. Yeah.
- 37:01Speaker 1: Wow, I haven't since I haven't seen well.
- 37:03Speaker 2: The last time I saw him was when we did
- 37:05Speaker 2: the uh the reunion thing. He looked great, and he
- 37:08Speaker 2: looked amazing. Yeah, I want.
- 37:10Speaker 1: To get him to come on this. When we did
- 37:11Speaker 1: some we had some sort of group email about hey,
- 37:13Speaker 1: do you guys want to do X, Y or Z
- 37:15Speaker 1: and and everyone was like sure, sure, sure, you know
- 37:17Speaker 1: we we almost all always say yes because it means
- 37:20Speaker 1: we get to all get together and have a drink
- 37:22Speaker 1: and make each other laugh. And and Ken was like
- 37:24Speaker 1: I'm moving. I I've got a lot going on. And
- 37:27Speaker 1: I was like my feelings were I mean, I know
- 37:30Speaker 1: it wasn't personal, but I was old like, Ken, you
- 37:32Speaker 1: know you can you can take a couple of hours
- 37:34Speaker 1: off from moving and comes oude to us. But nah,
- 37:36Speaker 1: I got a lot going on.
- 37:37Speaker 2: I got ship to do. It sounds it sounds like work.
- 37:41Speaker 2: I got shipped to do.
- 37:42Speaker 1: And then and it was kind of a Kurt goodbye.
- 37:44Speaker 1: It was like it was like very Kelso was liked,
- 37:46Speaker 1: but good to hear from you all.
- 37:49Speaker 5: I remember that. But I find it interesting that it
- 37:51Speaker 5: was an email and you've put a voice to it
- 37:54Speaker 5: of a grouchy old man.
- 38:01Speaker 1: The funny thing is about like people always ask you, like,
- 38:03Speaker 1: what what people cast members are like? And I said
- 38:06Speaker 1: the most different from his character was Ken Jenkins, because
- 38:08Speaker 1: he was the sweetest man you ever met in your
- 38:10Speaker 1: whole life, and he was playing this you know, tough jerk.
- 38:14Speaker 5: Yes, And I noticed that on the episode that it
- 38:17Speaker 5: was early on obviously the first season, and everyone was
- 38:20Speaker 5: still a little bit one dimensional. I don't want to
- 38:24Speaker 5: say that's not exactly true, but Ken was. I'm like,
- 38:27Speaker 5: look how mean Ken is being? Like in the pilot
- 38:30Speaker 5: when he turned into a demon for a minute, he
- 38:33Speaker 5: was still in that mode of well, guess what sport?
- 38:36Speaker 5: Nobody cares that sort of thing. By the end, he
- 38:41Speaker 5: was like this kindly old doddering man's having a nice uff.
- 38:47Speaker 1: Yeah, and also at the bar and the Bahamas, like
- 38:49Speaker 1: you know, he began I think Bill finally, like evell
- 38:53Speaker 1: one episode. Early on here in season one, we showed
- 38:56Speaker 1: that back he back in the day, used to write
- 38:59Speaker 1: love songs on the guitar to his wife. I think
- 39:01Speaker 1: Bill was beginning to plant seeds of him having a
- 39:04Speaker 1: softer side. But you're right, by the end of the season.
- 39:07Speaker 1: By the end of the show, he was a sweetheart.
- 39:09Speaker 5: Or more of a seat and uh like Ted was
- 39:13Speaker 5: sort of his best friend, wasn't he.
- 39:15Speaker 2: They were like at the end of the show. Yeah,
- 39:17Speaker 2: in this one he calls him Ned.
- 39:22Speaker 1: He's still all these years that we assume that that
- 39:25Speaker 1: Ted has been working for him, he still doesn't know
- 39:28Speaker 1: his name. He calls him Ned.
- 39:29Speaker 5: Yeah, but that went away. I mean, yeah, they became
- 39:33Speaker 5: kind of buddies.
- 39:34Speaker 2: I found it very crazy. I thought it was crazy
- 39:37Speaker 2: that Ted has been plotting against Kelso.
- 39:40Speaker 1: Yeah, so long he's hired hit man.
- 39:42Speaker 2: He's right, He's like, I know a hit man. You
- 39:45Speaker 2: and I we can do it.
- 39:46Speaker 1: That was a really funny part of this episode where
- 39:48Speaker 1: we have that long, uncomfortable laugh because he mentions that
- 39:51Speaker 1: he knows a guy who can end it all, and
- 39:54Speaker 1: then we have that long, uncomfortable laugh and then he's like, no, seriously,
- 39:57Speaker 1: just one phone call. So that means that Sammy has
- 40:01Speaker 1: sam Ted has found a He's got a hit man
- 40:04Speaker 1: ready to go whenever the time is right.
- 40:07Speaker 2: He just needs somebody to He needs somebody to be like, no,
- 40:09Speaker 2: you're right, we should kill this fucker.
- 40:11Speaker 5: He just needs it. Yeah, someone's second. The emotion it was,
- 40:15Speaker 5: I hadn't seen Sam's face since he passed away, and
- 40:18Speaker 5: it was nice, but you know, strange, see Sam.
- 40:26Speaker 1: Yeah, man, we've been we've been talking about that on
- 40:27Speaker 1: the podcast and and how obviously it's caused me to
- 40:31Speaker 1: look even closer at his work on the show and
- 40:34Speaker 1: just how incredibly funny he was. We recently just watched
- 40:37Speaker 1: an episode where he and Judy. I don't know if
- 40:39Speaker 1: you remember this one, Neil or he and Judy serenade
- 40:42Speaker 1: a patient and sing this beautiful harmony together and it
- 40:45Speaker 1: was so moving. I mean, obviously because he passed away,
- 40:50Speaker 1: but it just it just really it just really just
- 40:52Speaker 1: drove it home how how incredibly talented a guy he was.
- 40:56Speaker 5: Yeah, that was his character added a nice came in handy.
- 41:02Speaker 5: You know, the so many shows that succeed, I think
- 41:06Speaker 5: build a world of supporting characters and that you can
- 41:11Speaker 5: go to or just like probably number one would be
- 41:13Speaker 5: The Simpsons. They have like a poster and there's two
- 41:15Speaker 5: hundred recognizable characters in that. Yeah. Of course, give me
- 41:19Speaker 5: thirty years and maybe I could do that too with
- 41:21Speaker 5: a TV show. They've had a lot of time to
- 41:24Speaker 5: add characters. But but Scribbers did a good job of that.
- 41:28Speaker 1: Yeah, and you know Bill, Bill always called him his assassins,
- 41:31Speaker 1: those people like you know Bob Condenen or Matt Winston,
- 41:35Speaker 1: or or Phil Lewis who played Hooge, Rob Mashio who
- 41:42Speaker 1: be Kate. Well Rob had a bigger part than those guys.
- 41:43Speaker 1: But I mean just mean, like you know, think about
- 41:46Speaker 1: Phil Lewis who came on and would do I don't
- 41:49Speaker 1: know how many episodes he did total, but.
- 41:50Speaker 5: He's directing now.
- 41:51Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, he's yeah, he's doing very well as a Yeah.
- 41:54Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know if if this happens to you, Donald,
- 41:57Speaker 1: but I'll be walking down the street and people say, hey,
- 41:59Speaker 1: love on the Showhoch is crazy, and it's it's like
- 42:02Speaker 1: a little slogan about Phil Lewis's character, and he must
- 42:05Speaker 1: have done like a handful. I mean that's the amount
- 42:07Speaker 1: of influence. Sorry, that's the amount of impact he had
- 42:10Speaker 1: on fans because they were just like they loved him
- 42:12Speaker 1: so much.
- 42:12Speaker 2: Well, remember it started off as Turner and Hooch, where
- 42:15Speaker 2: Tom Hanks's brother came on as Turner and Phil Lewis
- 42:19Speaker 2: played Hooch and they had this whole little adventure that
- 42:21Speaker 2: they went on together as Turner and Hooch in the
- 42:24Speaker 2: hospital they got Yeah, they somehow got paired together. One
- 42:27Speaker 2: of them was a medical doc and one of them
- 42:29Speaker 2: was a surgeon, and they would tag team a bunch
- 42:31Speaker 2: of patients.
- 42:32Speaker 1: Right, and if it was a play elaborate way for
- 42:35Speaker 1: the writers to get a Turner and Hoo's show it.
- 42:37Speaker 2: Right, but they got Tom Hanks's brother to play the
- 42:41Speaker 2: Turner character just like in the movie. Right, And then
- 42:45Speaker 2: somehow it turned into this whole story with Phil coming
- 42:50Speaker 2: back as this crazy ass doctor. But when it originally happens,
- 42:54Speaker 2: the two of them are you know, he's not crazy
- 42:56Speaker 2: or anything like that. Then it turned into it turned
- 42:59Speaker 2: into us joking around like, oh who just crazy? Who
- 43:02Speaker 2: just so crazy? And then by the end of it
- 43:05Speaker 2: is not that.
- 43:09Speaker 1: Genuinely crazy people people love that, but no, no, no,
- 43:13Speaker 1: not joking.
- 43:13Speaker 5: Who is fucking dangerous? Yeah?
- 43:17Speaker 1: Like and then and then there was an episode where
- 43:19Speaker 1: you put like someone was it me? Or you put
- 43:21Speaker 1: bullyon cubes in the shower head.
- 43:23Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, which funny y'all put in the shower
- 43:27Speaker 2: and we're sitting there trying.
- 43:28Speaker 1: Like he's like I want.
- 43:32Speaker 2: Him with him with the crack lighter that goes like
- 43:35Speaker 2: you know six.
- 43:36Speaker 1: That's a very popular gift. I always use hooch with
- 43:39Speaker 1: like a six inch lighter flame.
- 43:42Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 43:42Speaker 1: By the way, you remember a funny thing about Tom
- 43:45Speaker 1: Hanks's brother who was on the show. He did the
- 43:48Speaker 1: voice for one of the toy story things, not not
- 43:51Speaker 1: the not the movies, but like I don't know if
- 43:53Speaker 1: it was like a book or or something. Yeah, something
- 43:57Speaker 1: that Tom Hanks couldn't be bothered to do, and he
- 43:59Speaker 1: he had a similar voice, so so he would just
- 44:02Speaker 1: throw him you know, I guess being generous to his brother,
- 44:05Speaker 1: like here, you do some of this stuff, and uh
- 44:07Speaker 1: And I just remember learning for the first time that
- 44:09Speaker 1: then you know that he that he did some of
- 44:12Speaker 1: the non movie stuff that's amazing. A little trivia for
- 44:15Speaker 1: you out.
- 44:15Speaker 2: There, Just a little trivia.
- 44:17Speaker 1: Elliott is into some kinky stuff, right, I mean, I
- 44:19Speaker 1: just realized that this is a runner through the series.
- 44:22Speaker 1: This episode opens up with her talking to Scott Foley
- 44:24Speaker 1: about being wanting to be called a bad girl, and
- 44:28Speaker 1: they're gonna go shopping or stop by her house for
- 44:30Speaker 1: a schoolgirl outfit. And then I just started thinking about
- 44:33Speaker 1: all these times in the in the series where Elliott's
- 44:35Speaker 1: got some some some some kink. She likes to role play.
- 44:38Speaker 2: Yeah, she likes it, the dirty stuff. She like it,
- 44:41Speaker 2: the dirty talk. I think that's even one of my
- 44:44Speaker 2: lines in the show. Oh she likeed the dirty talk
- 44:47Speaker 2: really this episode. No, not in this episode, but like
- 44:51Speaker 2: later on in the series, I know, I say something, and.
- 44:54Speaker 1: Then later on when she and Folly are making out,
- 44:56Speaker 1: she's like say intercourse, like she's got these weird kings.
- 45:01Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, that's that's that's I I yeah,
- 45:07Speaker 2: I remember.
- 45:08Speaker 1: There was one where I was like an apple thief.
- 45:10Speaker 1: I had to be. I was a part of one
- 45:11Speaker 1: of their I don't know if that was a fantasy
- 45:13Speaker 1: or if it was real, but there was.
- 45:15Speaker 2: One where she climbed up on top of me on
- 45:17Speaker 2: on one of the on a surgical table.
- 45:19Speaker 5: Yeah, that was a fantasy though, That was a fantasy.
- 45:21Speaker 2: Oh yeah, of course.
- 45:23Speaker 6: Do you remember she had a nurse thing on a
- 45:28Speaker 6: cross things and they had to post they had to
- 45:31Speaker 6: change it to green because no, you don't use the
- 45:34Speaker 6: Red crosses.
- 45:35Speaker 1: Oh that's funny.
- 45:38Speaker 2: That's a little bit of trivia.
- 45:39Speaker 1: You can't have sex on a surgical table with the
- 45:42Speaker 1: red cross up. We're not going to approve that.
- 45:45Speaker 2: But if you got the green one, which is the
- 45:48Speaker 2: medical marijuana one, it's all good. It's all good.
- 45:51Speaker 1: Now, it's funny. The Green Cross in the UK just
- 45:56Speaker 1: means pharmacy or normal pharmacy. And now you live in
- 46:00Speaker 1: we live in California. For those of you who don't
- 46:02Speaker 1: have dispensaries, wherever you are, everywhere there's a medical dispensary,
- 46:06Speaker 1: recreational or or or medical. It's the Green Cross. So
- 46:10Speaker 1: it's funny. When I first moved and spent some time
- 46:12Speaker 1: in London, I was like, wow, they have a lot
- 46:14Speaker 1: of dispensary on every corner.
- 46:18Speaker 2: I laughed out loud at Alma, right, bring hey, I hope,
- 46:21Speaker 2: let's make this quick. I got tickets to bring in
- 46:23Speaker 2: a noise bringing the funk, and I don't want to
- 46:25Speaker 2: miss the noise.
- 46:32Speaker 1: Loma.
- 46:33Speaker 5: She had a couple of good lines in that episode.
- 46:35Speaker 2: Yeah, she really, she really does nail it every time. Now,
- 46:39Speaker 2: like you, you're absolutely right about the cast of characters
- 46:45Speaker 2: that came after the Core seven, you know what I mean.
- 46:48Speaker 2: It's like everyone always seemed to nail their jokes, you
- 46:52Speaker 2: know what I mean. And and and it's it's a
- 46:55Speaker 2: I don't know if Bill had a thing where it's like,
- 46:56Speaker 2: if you didn't nail the jokes, she didn't come back.
- 46:58Speaker 2: But that is kind of the thing.
- 47:01Speaker 1: If you're not funny, you're not coming back.
- 47:03Speaker 2: I would love to know the people that he had.
- 47:05Speaker 1: We don't want to We don't want him out of.
- 47:07Speaker 2: Oh I'm not gonna put on this is conversation to
- 47:09Speaker 2: have with him one at another time. But I would know.
- 47:14Speaker 1: But I mean, you can know in your head there
- 47:16Speaker 1: were there were people that that could have easily what
- 47:19Speaker 1: happened with Neil is is the ultimate example.
- 47:21Speaker 2: Neil.
- 47:21Speaker 1: Neil was in the pilot and Bill was like, I'm
- 47:23Speaker 1: making this guy series regular. Whereas whereas there's people who
- 47:27Speaker 1: did one or two and he's like, all right, well
- 47:29Speaker 1: it was nice meeting you. Yeah, what about you skipped
- 47:33Speaker 1: something and I wanted to talk to you about it.
- 47:35Speaker 1: When when Judy touches your belly and goes bink and
- 47:38Speaker 1: who's she goes, who's your new friend?
- 47:40Speaker 2: I didn't. I didn't. I didn't want to that.
- 47:43Speaker 1: Oh you wanted to skip that?
- 47:44Speaker 2: I didn't want to skip it. But you know, I
- 47:46Speaker 2: when I when I was watching the show, I was like,
- 47:48Speaker 2: and this is where my eating habits changed, you know
- 47:51Speaker 2: what I mean?
- 47:51Speaker 1: Like, but but I have a question because I think
- 47:54Speaker 1: it's just a story point. Because when they cut to
- 47:56Speaker 1: you later running with Johnny C and you're in the gym,
- 47:58Speaker 1: you look fit as hell. So this didn't come out
- 48:01Speaker 1: of the writers being like, oh, Donald's gained a few
- 48:03Speaker 1: did it?
- 48:03Speaker 2: Listen? Didn't look like you had listen back then. I
- 48:08Speaker 2: was one hundred and seventy five pounds when we started
- 48:11Speaker 2: the show, right, I got up to one hundred and
- 48:15Speaker 2: ninety pounds, and everybody I could feel the you know
- 48:19Speaker 2: where my clothes didn't fit the same and.
- 48:22Speaker 1: Everything like that season Why does this happen?
- 48:25Speaker 2: Yeah? Around season one, you know, you get comfortable when
- 48:28Speaker 2: you're working and stuff like that, and I remember thinking,
- 48:30Speaker 2: you know, wow, I guess I look big on camera now.
- 48:35Speaker 2: And you know, I remember dieting and doing all of
- 48:38Speaker 2: these things right, and at one point, I, you know,
- 48:40Speaker 2: I guess I gained some weight. But this was this
- 48:46Speaker 2: became an issue for me as time went on where
- 48:49Speaker 2: I didn't think about weight up until scrubgs like, I
- 48:51Speaker 2: didn't give a shit about how I looked or how
- 48:54Speaker 2: I was perceived. I didn't, you know, I just I
- 48:56Speaker 2: ate what I wanted to and you know, I worked
- 48:59Speaker 2: out a shit ton. But then all of a sudden
- 49:01Speaker 2: it became okay, no, you have to work to maintain
- 49:04Speaker 2: this weight for the show or it's gonna be in
- 49:07Speaker 2: the script.
- 49:08Speaker 1: And people, wait, so so did anyone ever say anything
- 49:12Speaker 1: to you like you need to lose weight?
- 49:14Speaker 2: No? But I once heard and I'm gonna call Sarah
- 49:16Speaker 2: out on this, but I once heard Sarah. You know,
- 49:19Speaker 2: while we were filming talking to a bunch of people
- 49:21Speaker 2: like yo, somebody hit me up on a chat line
- 49:24Speaker 2: and was like, yo, is Donald Faison on a Krispy
- 49:27Speaker 2: Kreme diet? And I was like yo, And I remember
- 49:32Speaker 2: being like, yeah, I am on a Krispy Kreme diet,
- 49:34Speaker 2: but it gives a shit, dude.
- 49:35Speaker 1: It's funny because the story of Turk in the show
- 49:39Speaker 1: is that doctors get so busy they don't have time
- 49:41Speaker 1: to exercise. They're stress eating, and it's kind of what
- 49:46Speaker 1: happened to you as an actor on the show. We
- 49:47Speaker 1: had crazy hours. There's a giant craft service table with donuts,
- 49:51Speaker 1: and you know.
- 49:53Speaker 2: And I love first of all, I love donuts. Let's
- 49:55Speaker 2: let's keep it one hundred, like, is that your favorite thing?
- 49:57Speaker 2: For my birthday, my wife bought me a donut machine.
- 50:00Speaker 5: Dude.
- 50:00Speaker 2: You think I'm fucking bullshitting. She went on Amazon and
- 50:03Speaker 2: got me a commercial grade donut making machine, dude.
- 50:07Speaker 1: And I found they go down like the little just.
- 50:10Speaker 2: Like at Krispy Kreme. And I was like, you got
- 50:13Speaker 2: that shit and she was like yeah. I was like,
- 50:14Speaker 2: we got to look at the dimensions on how big
- 50:16Speaker 2: this thing is. This shit's like fifty six inches, like
- 50:19Speaker 2: it's like a six foot whatever six feet is. It's
- 50:22Speaker 2: like a six foot long track and it makes donut.
- 50:26Speaker 2: It doesn't make like one donut at a time, it
- 50:28Speaker 2: makes like seven, It makes a dozen donuts at a
- 50:31Speaker 2: fucking time. Dude, and I'm like, holy shit. I even
- 50:34Speaker 2: sent her. I was like, Babe, is there a way
- 50:36Speaker 2: that we can return this? And she was like yeah,
- 50:38Speaker 2: but it has to get here first. Now I know me.
- 50:41Speaker 2: Once it gets here, I'm gonna make donuts on thathing.
- 50:45Speaker 1: It hasn't come yet.
- 50:46Speaker 2: It hasn't come yet.
- 50:47Speaker 1: Oh my god.
- 50:48Speaker 2: The way it happened was because I'm going through Amazon.
- 50:51Speaker 2: And you know how once you once you buy something
- 50:53Speaker 2: on Amazon, it hits you with if you like this,
- 50:57Speaker 2: if you since you bought this, you know you might
- 51:00Speaker 2: like this. And I was like, hold up, why are
- 51:02Speaker 2: all these donut machines showing up?
- 51:07Speaker 1: Well, that's not gonna help you, diet, bro, if you
- 51:08Speaker 1: have a donut machine in your house.
- 51:10Speaker 2: I've come up with a I come up with an
- 51:12Speaker 2: idea on what I want to do with this with
- 51:14Speaker 2: said donut machine, what I am going to make Donnie's donuts, Okay,
- 51:19Speaker 2: and I'm gonna sell donuts to the masses. I'm gonna
- 51:23Speaker 2: I'll sell about you know, it makes like a dozen
- 51:26Speaker 2: donuts at a time. I'll sell I don't know, maybe
- 51:31Speaker 2: five dozen donuts a day.
- 51:33Speaker 1: Okay, out the out of your front door.
- 51:35Speaker 2: Not out of the front door. I'll do it on
- 51:37Speaker 2: sets or something like that where i'll you know where
- 51:39Speaker 2: I'll you know, if you have a and you're.
- 51:41Speaker 1: Not gonna have the charity, you're just gonna pocket that money, right,
- 51:44Speaker 1: this is your side.
- 51:45Speaker 2: Yeah, man, I gotta pay for that donut machine. That
- 51:47Speaker 2: shit costs a lot of money. I know my wife
- 51:50Speaker 2: bought it for me, but you know it comes out
- 51:51Speaker 2: of my motherfucking pocket.
- 51:53Speaker 1: Now, don't funny. I never realized until now. Is like
- 51:55Speaker 1: when you have a joint bank account with your wife
- 51:57Speaker 1: and or your partner whatever, and they give you like
- 52:00Speaker 1: a really expensive present, is part of you like, uh yeah,
- 52:05Speaker 1: but what the fuck? Yeah?
- 52:09Speaker 2: I'm sure my wife thinks that way too, Like how
- 52:11Speaker 2: much the first thing she says every time I buy something?
- 52:14Speaker 2: How much did it costs? Don't worry about it? Don't
- 52:15Speaker 2: worry about you know, don't you worry about it. I've looked,
- 52:19Speaker 2: I got I had the opportunity to see how much
- 52:21Speaker 2: the donut machine costs.
- 52:22Speaker 1: Because I can't wait to see the commercial doughnut machine
- 52:26Speaker 1: in your house.
- 52:27Speaker 2: When this is all said and done, I invite you
- 52:28Speaker 2: all over, come over, I'll make donuts for you.
- 52:30Speaker 1: All right, Well, I didn't realize it was a sore
- 52:32Speaker 1: spot for you and uh so, But anyway, it was
- 52:36Speaker 1: written in the script that Turk has gained some pounds.
- 52:39Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 52:39Speaker 2: Well it turns out that Turk gets diabetes too because
- 52:42Speaker 2: of his eating habits, and you know me like yeah,
- 52:47Speaker 2: like uh yeah. Later on Turk gets diabetes. Literally my diabetes,
- 52:53Speaker 2: my diabetes. But I remember thinking, you know, your real
- 52:58Speaker 2: life would somehow wind it like I don't have diabetes,
- 53:00Speaker 2: but your real life would somehow wind its way up
- 53:02Speaker 2: into the script, you know what I mean. And I
- 53:05Speaker 2: remember I started I was losing my hair at a
- 53:07Speaker 2: very young age. And Bill wrote into the script the
- 53:10Speaker 2: reason why Turk doesn't grow his hair out is because
- 53:13Speaker 2: it's patchy. And I remember being like, oh, hold on,
- 53:20Speaker 2: I just your head, not so much in the front,
- 53:25Speaker 2: not so much on the front, but like on the sides.
- 53:27Speaker 1: He just has a big, big, receding hairline. But it
- 53:30Speaker 1: looks good anyway. I like the way it looks. He
- 53:33Speaker 1: just made me think you could do a mohawk, which
- 53:35Speaker 1: would be cool.
- 53:36Speaker 2: It would be like really thin in the front and
- 53:38Speaker 2: then it would get really thick in the back though,
- 53:40Speaker 2: which was not really the dopest mohawk on the planet.
- 53:43Speaker 2: But anyway, I remember being I remember him doing that
- 53:46Speaker 2: and being like, wait, hold on a second, Bill thinks
- 53:48Speaker 2: I can't grow hair, and I not legitim. So there's
- 53:52Speaker 2: like a there's like six episodes where Turk has a
- 53:55Speaker 2: full head of hair just because I was like, there's
- 53:57Speaker 2: no way I'm gonna let anybody think that I can't
- 54:00Speaker 2: grow noith Like it became personal at some points, and
- 54:02Speaker 2: this was one of those moments with the donut where
- 54:04Speaker 2: it was like, when I was watching, I was like
- 54:06Speaker 2: in this that I think this is where it all
- 54:09Speaker 2: went down where I started to realize, Oh, I have
- 54:12Speaker 2: to be in a certain shape for things. I have
- 54:14Speaker 2: to look a certain way because before that I didn't
- 54:17Speaker 2: care about it and I was still working right.
- 54:19Speaker 1: Well, don't you feel that way now?
- 54:20Speaker 5: Though?
- 54:20Speaker 1: Still when you when you get jobs that like when
- 54:23Speaker 1: you did when you run Immergions for a year, did
- 54:24Speaker 1: you feel like that you wanted to be in good
- 54:27Speaker 1: shape for the camera?
- 54:29Speaker 2: No, I just wanted to look fresh in the face
- 54:31Speaker 2: for camera. Like these are things that I've like, I've
- 54:34Speaker 2: learned that my drinking habits and my marijuana habits have
- 54:37Speaker 2: made it so that, you know, if I don't take
- 54:41Speaker 2: time off from it, you can see it in my face,
- 54:43Speaker 2: you know what I mean. I look at pictures at
- 54:45Speaker 2: us when we were kids and and when we would
- 54:47Speaker 2: go to the parties and everything like that, and we'd
- 54:49Speaker 2: drink at the parties, and you could literally see in
- 54:51Speaker 2: our faces and pictures. Yeah, those guys are fucking wasted.
- 54:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 54:55Speaker 2: And as I've gotten older, that's lasted much longer than it.
- 55:01Speaker 2: You know what I mean. If I drink on Tuesday,
- 55:04Speaker 2: you know, I gotta wait until like Friday, until it's
- 55:08Speaker 2: all gone out of my out of my face, so
- 55:10Speaker 2: I have, you know, real big bags under my eyes.
- 55:12Speaker 2: And same thing with smoking. So when I went and
- 55:14Speaker 2: did emergence, I cut out all booze and alcohol for
- 55:18Speaker 2: for for a long period of time. I mean boos
- 55:21Speaker 2: in marijuana for a long period of time.
- 55:24Speaker 5: And I don't know what one did.
- 55:27Speaker 2: No one didn't no, no, no one watched it.
- 55:30Speaker 5: It didn't emerge, it did.
- 55:32Speaker 2: It didn't emerge the way the way I wanted to.
- 55:34Speaker 1: You know, Neil, both Donald and I, as you know,
- 55:37Speaker 1: because you helped me with some press, which I really appreciate.
- 55:40Speaker 1: As you know, Donald and I both had ABC shows
- 55:43Speaker 1: and unlike the Middle, they both completely bombed.
- 55:46Speaker 2: Yeah, they didn't make it? Was it the Medal? Was
- 55:49Speaker 2: the ABC show?
- 55:50Speaker 5: Right? Yeah?
- 55:51Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 55:51Speaker 5: Yeah? Was it?
- 55:52Speaker 2: ABC Studios? Also Born and Brothers Warner Brothers, Warner Brothers
- 55:56Speaker 2: for ABC.
- 55:56Speaker 5: Wow.
- 55:57Speaker 2: Yeah. We were ABC for NBC or originally and NBC
- 56:00Speaker 2: was like, no, we're going to pass on it, and
- 56:02Speaker 2: ABC was like, oh, well we'll pick it up. And
- 56:05Speaker 2: we went a full season.
- 56:07Speaker 1: And are you still sad about it? How are you
- 56:11Speaker 1: feeling about it?
- 56:12Speaker 2: I'm fine? You know, I how long?
- 56:14Speaker 1: How long? Like how long do you pout about something
- 56:16Speaker 1: like that? Well, like I have bad news, I think
- 56:18Speaker 1: I pout for like a few days and I'm like,
- 56:20Speaker 1: all right, fuge it.
- 56:21Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 56:22Speaker 2: I didn't pout that long about this one. I loved
- 56:24Speaker 2: the show, and I loved the cast members, and I
- 56:26Speaker 2: loved working with everyone. But it was in Jersey and
- 56:31Speaker 2: not that I have something not that I have something
- 56:32Speaker 2: wrong with Jersey, but coming out of a pandemic and
- 56:36Speaker 2: going back to work in New Jersey and leaving.
- 56:39Speaker 1: On behalf of the Garden State. I think the point
- 56:41Speaker 1: is that you didn't want to be separated from your family.
- 56:43Speaker 2: Wasn't that like let me if you, if you let
- 56:46Speaker 2: me finish coming out of a pandemic and going back
- 56:49Speaker 2: to Jersey, which I had a great time in Jersey
- 56:52Speaker 2: and I love Jersey and leaving my kids back in
- 56:57Speaker 2: Los Angeles again, it would fuck them up, you know
- 56:59Speaker 2: what I mean.
- 57:00Speaker 5: I understand that I wouldn't. I wouldn't want to uh
- 57:08Speaker 5: do a show in another state. Maybe the time will come,
- 57:12Speaker 5: but I think I don't know.
- 57:14Speaker 1: I agree Neil, I I wouldn't. I would do a
- 57:18Speaker 1: film obviously anywhere, but I wouldn't sign on. I don't think,
- 57:22Speaker 1: and I mean I'll mark mark my words. I'm sure
- 57:25Speaker 1: there'll be an occasion where I might change my mind,
- 57:26Speaker 1: but right now I think to commit long term to something,
- 57:30Speaker 1: it would be New York or LA where where I'm
- 57:33Speaker 1: based and I have you know, and I'm I'm like Donald,
- 57:36Speaker 1: I don't have kids yet, but I'm still in a
- 57:39Speaker 1: place where I don't. I don't want to go move
- 57:41Speaker 1: to to Stad where I always choose DoD as my
- 57:48Speaker 1: random city. It's it's a I believe it's a ski
- 57:50Speaker 1: town in Switzerland.
- 57:52Speaker 2: It's straight out of coming, a trading place places where
- 57:56Speaker 2: dan Ackroyd's at the pawn shop trying to sell the watch,
- 58:00Speaker 2: and the dude's like fifty bucks. He's like fifty bucks. No,
- 58:02Speaker 2: this is at such and such. It tells time in
- 58:05Speaker 2: New York, London, La and stud.
- 58:09Speaker 1: I think it's like the Aspen of the Alps. It's
- 58:11Speaker 1: like a fancy ski town, which, by by the way,
- 58:13Speaker 1: it was a horrible example for my story because I
- 58:16Speaker 1: should have picked a place no one wants to live.
- 58:18Speaker 1: Maybe I would like to live in the Aspen of
- 58:19Speaker 1: the Alps. Are going to take a quick break and
- 58:21Speaker 1: then Neil, we take a guest with the show. Who's
- 58:23Speaker 1: gonna have an awesome question for one of us?
- 58:25Speaker 2: I'll bet we watch how with that?
- 58:29Speaker 5: And I like that theme. By the way, it's very churchy.
- 58:40Speaker 2: Yeah, yes, yes, we speaking of churchy. Dude. Do you
- 58:45Speaker 2: remember the church episode where we did it in the
- 58:47Speaker 2: hospital cafeteria and you had the freaking uh straw hat?
- 58:51Speaker 5: What was it?
- 58:52Speaker 2: What kind of hat is that where it's like a
- 58:53Speaker 2: straw hat? Really go with it?
- 58:59Speaker 1: Yeah, I think you had, Neil. I think you had
- 59:01Speaker 1: a tambourine.
- 59:02Speaker 2: As I recall that could be golly, Samuel Centers in
- 59:07Speaker 2: the house.
- 59:09Speaker 1: That's Samuel Center Joelle, do you have any special introduction
- 59:12Speaker 1: you want to make up Samuel Center? Or should we
- 59:13Speaker 1: just start talking to Samuel Center?
- 59:15Speaker 3: Just get right on into it.
- 59:17Speaker 2: Hi, Hello, Samuel Wall.
- 59:19Speaker 7: Beautiful people, this is crazy.
- 59:22Speaker 5: It is crazy.
- 59:23Speaker 2: You are a professional dude. You came with the mic
- 59:25Speaker 2: popping thing.
- 59:26Speaker 1: Donald needs one of those because he spits everywhere.
- 59:28Speaker 2: So I have a spit problem.
- 59:30Speaker 1: Yeah, Dan, can you get Samuel has for those of
- 59:32Speaker 1: you listening, has one of those very fancy circle things
- 59:35Speaker 1: you put in front of a mic, and and Donald
- 59:37Speaker 1: needs one of those dances.
- 59:38Speaker 2: I have one. I have one.
- 59:39Speaker 1: No, well, we need it. We need it now.
- 59:42Speaker 5: It's probably called a spit guard or a yes shield.
- 59:45Speaker 5: You know.
- 59:45Speaker 1: When I first saw the spit guard was in the
- 59:47Speaker 1: We Are the World music video, and that's where I
- 59:51Speaker 1: also sold that you were supposed to hold your headphones
- 59:53Speaker 1: like this over one ear so you can hear ye,
- 59:56Speaker 1: hear the harmonies.
- 59:57Speaker 6: When you're down and out, if you care, If you
- 1:00:03Speaker 6: think you look better without headphones on your head, I
- 1:00:05Speaker 6: think that's how you hold the.
- 1:00:06Speaker 2: Headphones, right, Yeah, Mike, Mike didn't want to mess up.
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: The freaking right, Neil, All the people that knew they
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: were shooting a video, were like, you know what, the
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: home Man. But if you just believe we should do
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: a Donald, we should do an episode of this where
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: we recreate the video and we each take turns playing
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: different characters in the song.
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: Yeah, sure, man, I fucking did that as a kid.
- 1:00:33Speaker 2: I used to do that as a kid. I could
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: do it as an adults.
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: I used to love that. I would watch that over
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: and over and over again. Anyway, Sorry, Samuel, where are
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: you calling?
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: Samuel Center?
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: Okay, it's Oprah. Where are you calling from, Samuel?
- 1:00:44Speaker 7: I'm calling from a small town called Cloak in Minnesota.
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: Cloque, Minnesota. We got it the far North.
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: Welcome. You have Neil Flynn with us today, and that's
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: Donald doing his best Oprah. And and do you have
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: a question for us anything? Ask us anything?
- 1:01:01Speaker 7: Ask you anything? What happens when we die?
- 1:01:05Speaker 5: Oh?
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: Wow, No, I'm just kidding.
- 1:01:07Speaker 7: I'm just kidding, don't you.
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: Thanks for coming on, everybody. Can you play the music
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: that drives it off?
- 1:01:17Speaker 5: No?
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: Go ahead, sam You've got a real question.
- 1:01:19Speaker 7: Go ahead, I do I have a real question for you.
- 1:01:21Speaker 7: First of all, thank you for all of the years
- 1:01:23Speaker 7: of entertainment. This is such a thrill to meet you guys. No,
- 1:01:27Speaker 7: it's incredible, thank you. So in terms of entertainment, you
- 1:01:31Speaker 7: guys have been there for You've been in the business
- 1:01:33Speaker 7: for so long and just seeing how things change, and
- 1:01:36Speaker 7: it feels like people's attention spans are getting shorter and shorter.
- 1:01:39Speaker 7: And mister Flynn, uh, such an improv comedy genius. And
- 1:01:44Speaker 7: Zach you're a writer, and mister Faison, you just kind
- 1:01:48Speaker 7: of embody what cool is to me. And you've been
- 1:01:49Speaker 7: doing I mean since Clueless.
- 1:01:51Speaker 5: Man.
- 1:01:51Speaker 7: My sister was big into Clueless, and I can't tell
- 1:01:54Speaker 7: you how much I look up to you and have
- 1:01:55Speaker 7: tried to emulate some of the style that you.
- 1:01:57Speaker 2: Have accepted and received except.
- 1:02:01Speaker 7: But as days have changed in people's attention spans have
- 1:02:04Speaker 7: gotten shorter. How do you feel yourselves adapting as entertainers,
- 1:02:06Speaker 7: writers and improv comedy people. Do you feel like you've
- 1:02:09Speaker 7: had to shift the way you approach things or do
- 1:02:11Speaker 7: you feel like you've kept it the same to just
- 1:02:13Speaker 7: stay true to your art or how does that feel
- 1:02:16Speaker 7: on your end?
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: That's a good question. Know, they just came out with
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: this service. As I understand, it isn't doing as well
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: as anyone hoped called Quibi, which is basically like ten
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: minute episodes you can watch on your phone, which I
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: would have thought would do well because people are commuting
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: and they're sitting in a doctor's office, and for all
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: I know it will do well one day, but that
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: I was thinking of of that service when you said that.
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: The biggest thing I noticed is that whenever I do anything,
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: if it's a TV show, if it's a film, if
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: it's a music video, if it's a documentary, everyone writes
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: me on Instagram when second be on Netflix. It's as
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: though it's like the only thing most people watch anymore.
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: So that's always on my mind. When I'm going out
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: and I'm pitching a new idea, I'm always kind of like, well,
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: I I you know, Netflix has so much content, but
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: in my mind, I'm thinking, like, I kind of want
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: this to be on Netflix because that's what everybody seems
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: to watch these days. Whenever you know, I'll I like you.
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: When we were talking briefly about the ABC show I
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: did alex Inca. It didn't didn't last or work that well,
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: but I remember when I was promoting it, I was
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: just doing anything I could to promote it. Anything, anything, anything,
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: and then everyone was like, sounds great, Zach, when's it
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: on Netflix? And I'm like, well, it's not. It's it's
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: on ABC. It's it's not it's not gonna be on Netflix.
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: But I don't know. That's what I just got thinking
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: about that. What about you guys.
- 1:03:36Speaker 5: I feel like it's, well, you know, while we're in
- 1:03:39Speaker 5: this downtime, I'm trying to you know, I got a
- 1:03:42Speaker 5: couple of other voices, trying to develop something, you know,
- 1:03:46Speaker 5: to do when when we can start to work again. Yeah,
- 1:03:49Speaker 5: And it's really I've never done that before. I've never
- 1:03:53Speaker 5: helped create a show, but I feel like to start
- 1:03:57Speaker 5: a new show now, I don't think attention spans are
- 1:03:59Speaker 5: any order. Necessarily, people are watching stuff, it's just not
- 1:04:03Speaker 5: the same stuff they used to watch. And there's more
- 1:04:05Speaker 5: TV than there ever was, And I feel like, if
- 1:04:08Speaker 5: you're going to start something from the ground up, you
- 1:04:11Speaker 5: can't just do family living room multi cam, you know,
- 1:04:19Speaker 5: it feels like that's gone. There has to be something
- 1:04:23Speaker 5: a hook to the show. Yeah, and whether it's you know,
- 1:04:27Speaker 5: I don't know what really shows they're doing with a
- 1:04:29Speaker 5: period piece or you know, real people like I don't
- 1:04:33Speaker 5: know the Kennedy's or something, or the Queens and Kings
- 1:04:36Speaker 5: or something fantastical or outer space, or it just feels
- 1:04:40Speaker 5: like you can't do that. The time has passed through
- 1:04:43Speaker 5: the Johnson family.
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: Although although, Neil, you just gave me a genius idea
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: to do a traditional like living room sitcom, but it's
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: Kings and Queen's in a castle.
- 1:04:53Speaker 5: I would do it, except they live on like the
- 1:04:56Speaker 5: set of the Cosby show, the Kings and Queen, but
- 1:05:00Speaker 5: they just have a television.
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: But they're they're royals, and they've transported from a from
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: another era, but and they don't really know why they're there.
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: But they live in this this you know, suburban house.
- 1:05:15Speaker 5: That could work, or I could have worked in nineteen
- 1:05:18Speaker 5: eighty six.
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: You know, come on, man, if ALF could.
- 1:05:21Speaker 5: Work, I was just gonna say ELF. Yeah.
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: We talked about ALF extensively in one of these episodes,
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: because I remember as a kid, a child, seeing a
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: commercial for ALF and being like, that's so stupid. No
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: one's gonna watch that, And then cut to me like
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: riveted every week like watching ALF.
- 1:05:43Speaker 5: You call that being kind of funny. I think it
- 1:05:45Speaker 5: was a kind of a funny show.
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: No, it was genius and Max Wright, who is hilarious, Yeah,
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: played the father.
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: What are you doing? Alf?
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: And he notoriously hated being on a puppet show. He
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: hated every second of it. Oh w he hated the puppet.
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: Fuck that puppet.
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: I would have woke off this set. Fuck you, out
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: going trailer, Alf, Fuck you.
- 1:06:10Speaker 2: This is a true story.
- 1:06:11Speaker 7: Alf the puppet was actually my sleep paralysis demon from
- 1:06:14Speaker 7: like age three to ten.
- 1:06:16Speaker 5: Well, I didn't see sleep paralysis demon. What's it about?
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: I have all their music? What is what is a
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: sleep paralysis demon? For those of us who don't know?
- 1:06:31Speaker 7: All right, So, sleep paralysis is like this condition where
- 1:06:33Speaker 7: you're you know, dead asleep and you and if I'm
- 1:06:36Speaker 7: sure you know, if you don't know, there's chemicals in
- 1:06:38Speaker 7: your body that released to paralyze you while you're sleeping
- 1:06:40Speaker 7: so that you don't get up and run while you're dreaming. Right,
- 1:06:43Speaker 7: there's things there's a phenomenon that can happen where you
- 1:06:46Speaker 7: achieve consciousness, but you're still paralyzed by those things that
- 1:06:49Speaker 7: are keeping you sleeping. And I happen to get that
- 1:06:53Speaker 7: and have since I was a really little kid. And
- 1:06:55Speaker 7: typically for whatever reason, whatever you want to say, about
- 1:06:57Speaker 7: the human condition or whatever. When people are stuck at us,
- 1:07:01Speaker 7: they go to a very dark space and usually they
- 1:07:02Speaker 7: see something really ugly or terrifying. And this, I mean
- 1:07:07Speaker 7: it could be anything, It can be a literal. So
- 1:07:09Speaker 7: so people call them their sleep paralysis demons. And Alf
- 1:07:12Speaker 7: was literally mine. There was a commercial on TV where
- 1:07:16Speaker 7: Alf pressed his face against the glass. Is probably from
- 1:07:18Speaker 7: like the premiere episode.
- 1:07:20Speaker 2: And when I was.
- 1:07:21Speaker 7: Eight years old, I think specifically, anytime I would get
- 1:07:24Speaker 7: in the sleep paralysis state, there would be Alf at
- 1:07:27Speaker 7: the edge of my I be.
- 1:07:32Speaker 5: Oh, yeah, yeah, it's a frightening thing.
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: And was Al saying anything to you? Or was he
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: was just he was just him up against the glass
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: at the foot of your bed.
- 1:07:38Speaker 2: Yeah, it was just him against the glass. I don't know, man,
- 1:07:42Speaker 2: Do you still have a sleep paralysis a sleep paralysis demon?
- 1:07:46Speaker 5: Now?
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: Yeah? And is it still Alf?
- 1:07:48Speaker 2: Is it still Alf? No?
- 1:07:50Speaker 7: Now, it's just uh Now, it's just I was gonna
- 1:07:54Speaker 7: say something, but I won't.
- 1:07:56Speaker 5: No.
- 1:07:56Speaker 2: Now it's it's actually a guy in a suit.
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: Okay, Wow, Wow.
- 1:08:02Speaker 2: That's scary.
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: Well that's very scary. I I that's traumatic. You know, Alf.
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: I didn't have that much problems with Alf. We brought
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: it up. We brought it up on the show before.
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: I didn't know. I don't know if this was in
- 1:08:15Speaker 1: your sleep paralysis nightmare. But Alf has a tail. We learned,
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: uh Neil because I had the stuffed animal for Alf
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: and I was a child, and what I would do
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: is I would take the alf tail and I would
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: tuck it through its legs and close his legs to
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: give him a giant erect alf penis.
- 1:08:33Speaker 7: Mister Braf, You've changed my life in many ways, and
- 1:08:35Speaker 7: now I want to thank you because now my sleep
- 1:08:37Speaker 7: proalysis Alf is going to have a big old tail penis.
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: Thank you for that. Now, Sam, I'm gonna feel so
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: bad if it goes back from man and suit to
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: Alf with an alpha erection. I apologize, but maybe you'll
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: be able to laugh and just point and laugh at him.
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: Maybe he'll dissipate.
- 1:08:56Speaker 2: I'm not sure I understood the question. I thought you
- 1:08:58Speaker 2: were asking, like how to how.
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: He was saying now that in his opinion and an
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: opinion of others, things are getting shorter and shorter for
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: short attention spans. Do you think there's any way that
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: you have adapted the way you perform or evolved things
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: that you're doing for a shorter attention span, whether it's
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: anything you do, maybe in your animated videos. You know,
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: I noticed something I'm gonna I'm gonna answer for Donald
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: and Donald you pipe in. You used to post some
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: of your stop motion animation longer clips. Now you're posting
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: very short clips. Do you think that's the human attention span?
- 1:09:31Speaker 2: Absolutely, because at one point I realized that, thank you
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: very much, Zach. At one point I realized people were
- 1:09:37Speaker 2: not paying attention past a minute, you know what I mean?
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: Fuck that, not paying attention past thirty seconds. And so
- 1:09:44Speaker 2: now when I do when I post animation clips, they're
- 1:09:47Speaker 2: like four seconds or five seconds, because you know, if anything,
- 1:09:52Speaker 2: they'll watch it a couple of times, three or four
- 1:09:54Speaker 2: times before they move on to the next thing, to
- 1:09:56Speaker 2: make sure they're just to pick up visually what it
- 1:10:02Speaker 2: was that they saw, you know what I mean. So
- 1:10:04Speaker 2: like with animation, if it doesn't look right, people don't
- 1:10:09Speaker 2: necessarily pay attention to it.
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: And also I have a side question. If you're doing animation,
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: is it better for you to focus on a short
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: do a short little segment really really really well, rather
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: than do work on a full minute that has mistakes
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: in it.
- 1:10:24Speaker 2: Yeah, it's better to do it. In my opinion, if
- 1:10:27Speaker 2: you can do a full minute of perfect animation, you're great.
- 1:10:30Speaker 2: But no movie is like that either though, you know
- 1:10:32Speaker 2: what I mean. There are very few movies that have
- 1:10:34Speaker 2: scenes that are a wonder for one minute, you know
- 1:10:38Speaker 2: what I mean. And if they do do that, it's
- 1:10:40Speaker 2: a special shot. And so with animation you try to
- 1:10:43Speaker 2: shoot it just like you would shoot any other project
- 1:10:46Speaker 2: that you put on film, whether it be movie or television.
- 1:10:49Speaker 2: You want to make it quick and keep the cuts
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: coming so that everybody. The faster the pace, the better
- 1:10:54Speaker 2: it is with animation. The slower the slower the pace
- 1:10:57Speaker 2: of the story, the easy it is for people to
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: tune out.
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: Sometimes I send you clips of animation that I think
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: is cool and you don't even reply, and it hurts
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: my feelings.
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: I'm sorry because I've seen them already, I know.
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: But you could say yes, I've seen this.
- 1:11:11Speaker 2: I could say yes, I've seen this, thank you.
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: It's like when my mom sends me my mom send
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: me a picture of like a bird, and you know, okay,
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: but I can I still take the time to be
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: like pretty bird, mom. You know, you could you might
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: you know, I might say, hey, exact cool animation, saw
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: this one.
- 1:11:29Speaker 2: You know what, from here on out, because I now
- 1:11:31Speaker 2: know that you're very sensitive when.
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: It comes to I am sensitive.
- 1:11:35Speaker 2: I will from here on out, I will respond with
- 1:11:38Speaker 2: oh man, I've seen that already. But thank you.
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: All right, Samuel, give another question.
- 1:11:43Speaker 7: I got all kinds of questions, but we'll keep it.
- 1:11:45Speaker 7: We'll keep it like uh, just knowing that mister Flynn
- 1:11:48Speaker 7: is there, which is so cool. I just have to say,
- 1:11:50Speaker 7: I seriously think you one of the funniest people that
- 1:11:52Speaker 7: has ever existed. Especially I told him that too. I say,
- 1:11:56Speaker 7: I agree, It's just totally true. I'm just you know,
- 1:11:59Speaker 7: just freeballing here. Let's just say that, yeah, freeballing always always.
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: You don't have to tell us what you're under our situation,
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: sam I said the wrong word under. You know, this
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: is why alphon't leave the foot of your bed.
- 1:12:15Speaker 2: He wants to see those balls, Oh, Samuel.
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: All right, Samuel, go ahead, free ball away.
- 1:12:25Speaker 7: Janitor spinoff of Scrubs. Let's just say that they brought
- 1:12:28Speaker 7: it back. Let's just say they got mister Braff and
- 1:12:30Speaker 7: mister Faison uh signed on his co stars and at
- 1:12:34Speaker 7: least the pilot episode. Where would you want to explore
- 1:12:37Speaker 7: the janitor's character now, and what would you want the
- 1:12:39Speaker 7: episode around? What kind of stuff would you like to
- 1:12:41Speaker 7: be in it outer space?
- 1:12:45Speaker 5: That's where it's sat. When we're marooned in outer space.
- 1:12:51Speaker 2: So it's sort of like a Gilligan's Island type island
- 1:12:55Speaker 2: on the planet or ship?
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: Are you on a ship kneel or or on a planet?
- 1:12:59Speaker 5: Uh a ship? And then then like toward the end
- 1:13:02Speaker 5: of the first season, it lands.
- 1:13:05Speaker 2: Sort of like sort of like Josie and the pussy Cats,
- 1:13:09Speaker 2: the janitor and the and the doctors.
- 1:13:13Speaker 5: Yes, it's very much like Josie and the pussy Cats.
- 1:13:15Speaker 5: And yeah, I was hoping you wouldn't notice that I
- 1:13:18Speaker 5: stole up.
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: So the janitors also in a band.
- 1:13:22Speaker 5: Yeah, we're all musicians.
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: Yeah, Neil, you joke, But I would watch this show.
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: I mean, nern't necessarily steal the character from Scrubs, but
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: you could be. Your character is a janitor on a
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: on a spaceship, which is a character you never see
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: who's cleaning Who's cleaning these spaceships?
- 1:13:41Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, that's funny.
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: They watched so much sci fi. Have you ever seen
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: anyone cleaning up inside any of those ships.
- 1:13:48Speaker 2: No, never, not even the Millennium Falcon, which is the
- 1:13:51Speaker 2: dirtiest spaceship in the galaxy.
- 1:13:53Speaker 5: No one does any maintenance.
- 1:13:57Speaker 2: Never ever.
- 1:13:59Speaker 5: Maybe Jordie did a little maintenance.
- 1:14:02Speaker 2: Well, but Jordy was like he was an engineer though. Man,
- 1:14:05Speaker 2: he was like, oh, that's.
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: Right, working like just like like your character would often be,
- 1:14:10Speaker 1: you be doing something. We joke about, Neil that we
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: sometimes we're like, you know what, the janitor was actually
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: a good janitor.
- 1:14:15Speaker 5: For all he was.
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: He really worked a lot. He was always doing ship
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: and uh and you always always were actually working.
- 1:14:23Speaker 5: I would have said the opposite. There was oftentimes I
- 1:14:25Speaker 5: would say, should I be doing something? I'm constantly just
- 1:14:29Speaker 5: walking around the corner with nothing in my hands. You know,
- 1:14:32Speaker 5: what are you doing?
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: Wasn't there a time when when when someone a director
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: said to mop in the admissions and you're like, there's
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: a carpet.
- 1:14:45Speaker 5: I don't remember that.
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: Anyway, I'm very interested, Neil in developing this. You're a
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: chanitor on a spaceship series.
- 1:14:52Speaker 5: Okay, yeah, because if it's it's about three guys that
- 1:14:56Speaker 5: they're marooned out in space. Okay, Well, what did they
- 1:14:59Speaker 5: do beforehand? Were they scientists or.
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: They were on a mission?
- 1:15:03Speaker 2: Donald and I were were the well two guys were
- 1:15:05Speaker 2: on a mission and one guy was cleaning the ship
- 1:15:07Speaker 2: for them.
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: No, no, no, no, Donald, Donald, that's what it was. Yes, Donald
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: and I are on a mission, and part of this mission.
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: Because there's been a lot of complaints about cleanliness and spaceships,
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: they sent along a member of the janitorial stuff to
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: keep the ship clean while they're on their mission.
- 1:15:22Speaker 5: And then once it, once it crashes or whatever, the
- 1:15:25Speaker 5: status you know, the totem pole is scrambled. Yes, right, yeah,
- 1:15:32Speaker 5: Now the scientists, you know.
- 1:15:35Speaker 2: Scared shitless, and the janitor is like, I can handle
- 1:15:37Speaker 2: this because follow my lead.
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: Yeah, the janitor.
- 1:15:40Speaker 2: Janitor becomes the captain.
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: Yes, and maybe maybe Donald and I are injured, so
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: we can't really do much, but the janitor takes over.
- 1:15:48Speaker 2: Well, we don't have to be injured. We just have
- 1:15:50Speaker 2: to be like kind of like not really good with
- 1:15:55Speaker 2: other things other than piloting in science.
- 1:15:57Speaker 5: No survival skills whatsoever, whatsoever.
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: That's good Neil. So Neil's character is like not only
- 1:16:03Speaker 1: was he working for a custodial staff, but he was
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: an amazing survivalist, and Donald and I don't know anything
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: about how to survival on this random planet.
- 1:16:13Speaker 2: Our journey could have been just we were supposed to
- 1:16:15Speaker 2: go to the International Space Station, right, and that's it.
- 1:16:18Speaker 2: And somehow we got knocked off course by some crazy
- 1:16:21Speaker 2: ass gamma wave or some type of microwave or something
- 1:16:25Speaker 2: like that, and it sends us into a wormhole and
- 1:16:28Speaker 2: we wind up in this fucking galaxy where we don't
- 1:16:30Speaker 2: know shit about anything, right, but and don't know how
- 1:16:34Speaker 2: to survive other than if we were to be, you know,
- 1:16:36Speaker 2: on an International space station. And Neil Flynn Janitor.
- 1:16:43Speaker 5: Hey, you know what I just thought of something We
- 1:16:46Speaker 5: didn't star Trek. They went to different planets and stuff, right, Yes,
- 1:16:52Speaker 5: they never wore helmets, pursuits.
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: Those ever, they had oxygen and those all those planets
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: had oxygen.
- 1:16:59Speaker 2: They were all supporting planets, right.
- 1:17:01Speaker 5: Apparently they made that decision early on.
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: Well, I imagine, like you said, with the headphones not
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: looking good, I'm sure that what's his name, Captain Kirk
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: was like, you're not putting the helen on this.
- 1:17:14Speaker 2: Yeah, it was like no way to this Shattner.
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: Yeah, So that's the idea Joel, will you produce? Joel
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: will produce.
- 1:17:29Speaker 5: Thank you.
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: We're off to the races, Samuel, thank you for calling in,
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: my friend.
- 1:17:33Speaker 7: Oh it's such a pleasure to meet everybody.
- 1:17:35Speaker 5: Thank you very much.
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: Thank you awesome and good luck and listen, don't let
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: those monsters keep you in bed. Be safe.
- 1:17:42Speaker 7: Now. I'm going to show my balls and laugh at him.
- 1:17:44Speaker 2: That's all.
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: And that's a lesson for everybody out there. If you're
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: ever afraid, show them your balls and just laugh at them.
- 1:17:53Speaker 2: Well, I'll see you in jail.
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: Maybe not. Donald's like, well, never mind, by.
- 1:18:01Speaker 2: Take care.
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: Oh my god, I have so many questions.
- 1:18:05Speaker 5: Back to space Janitor.
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: I love that Neil's like furiously taking notes about that.
- 1:18:13Speaker 5: Yes I am. I wonder if part of it should
- 1:18:15Speaker 5: be a game show, or maybe the whole thing a
- 1:18:17Speaker 5: game show. Just for some reason, we're sticking with this,
- 1:18:21Speaker 5: these these elements that are a Janitor lost in space. Okay,
- 1:18:24Speaker 5: Carter family, What is the capital of shod.
- 1:18:31Speaker 2: For the stop.
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: And believe it or not, Neil starts with a G.
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: There's a silent G. Yeah, jeelity check is G s
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: T A a D? If I'm not mistaken?
- 1:18:47Speaker 5: God, that reminds me of DJIBOUTI. I think it's pronounced
- 1:18:50Speaker 5: this episodes with an N.
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: I think starts.
- 1:18:54Speaker 5: You're right, you're right, yeah, yeah.
- 1:18:57Speaker 2: But I remember when we used to do the show.
- 1:18:59Speaker 5: You used to do crossword puzzles, did I yeah, I'm
- 1:19:03Speaker 5: going through phases.
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: Yes, the New York Times probably.
- 1:19:05Speaker 2: Yeah, and you would do I remember I never I
- 1:19:10Speaker 2: suck at spelling, and I also suck at crossword puzzles.
- 1:19:14Speaker 2: But would you ever get to would you ever get
- 1:19:17Speaker 2: to the Sunday one? Have you ever? You know what
- 1:19:20Speaker 2: I mean? Like I hear the Sunday ones are the
- 1:19:22Speaker 2: real hard ones. Monday it gets easy and then yeah
- 1:19:25Speaker 2: that goes it gets more difficult.
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: And as you could finish a Sunday is what you're asking.
- 1:19:30Speaker 2: I'm asking. I'm asking how deep into the week would
- 1:19:33Speaker 2: you get? Because I know there were times where you
- 1:19:34Speaker 2: would you know, I remember asking you one. You'd be like,
- 1:19:37Speaker 2: oh this is from like a couple of weeks ago.
- 1:19:40Speaker 5: Hmm, oh really, well that's you know, it depends on
- 1:19:44Speaker 5: how yeah hard your work. Sometimes you just pick it
- 1:19:48Speaker 5: up for ten minutes and go on about your day.
- 1:19:51Speaker 5: But I haven't done one in a long time. But yes.
- 1:19:54Speaker 5: I used to completely most of the time the same day,
- 1:19:57Speaker 5: within an hour or two.
- 1:19:58Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: I was always jealous of people that could.
- 1:20:02Speaker 5: I was. I think, at least what I know to
- 1:20:04Speaker 5: be true, is it actually Saturday is the hardest day.
- 1:20:07Speaker 5: Sunday's a big puzzle. Sunday's like the super sized puzzle,
- 1:20:11Speaker 5: not necessarily harder.
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: So it builds the Saturday, and then Sunday's a bigger one,
- 1:20:15Speaker 1: and Monday's the easiest. I feel like I have maybe
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: done a Monday.
- 1:20:19Speaker 2: I've never I remember somebody saying that to me and
- 1:20:21Speaker 2: being like, oh, okay, let me get the one on Monday.
- 1:20:22Speaker 2: I just don't know, And I realized you had to.
- 1:20:24Speaker 2: You had well, you had to read the paper too.
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: That was the as I didn't know a lot of trivia.
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: I mean, I could do it if it was like,
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: you know, no letters, three letters, star of a sitcom
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: alien puppet.
- 1:20:39Speaker 5: This is a nice, nice callback.
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: Thank you, Thank you. It means a lot to me.
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: We barely talked about the episode, but we should talk
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: about the Saint Elsewhere cast that was visiting in this.
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: Did you guys, either one of you watch Saint Elsewhere
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: back in the day.
- 1:20:50Speaker 2: I did so Denzel, Yeah else was it Denzil's first role.
- 1:20:56Speaker 2: I don't know if it was his first role, but
- 1:20:58Speaker 2: I know he was on sayt Elsewhere, him and Howie Mandel.
- 1:21:01Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, that's right.
- 1:21:04Speaker 2: Wasn't the theme song like that and that that something
- 1:21:21Speaker 2: like that?
- 1:21:22Speaker 5: Yeah, that sounds very familiar.
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: I visited the set once my parents watched it. I
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: believe it was Bruce Paltrow, Gwyneth Paltrow's father, who was
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: a very big showrunner then, who produced it with others.
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: And my dad knew someone. We were visiting La and
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: my dad knew someone. We got onto the set. It
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: was like the first, like real big TV set. Interestingly,
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: I'm thinking about this out loud. The first real set
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: I ever visited was was a hospital set which was
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: sant Elsewhere, and I think it was beyond my It
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: was too old for me as a child, but I
- 1:21:53Speaker 1: remember my parents really loving it. Juelle just told me
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: that Denzel made his feature film debut in the comedy
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: A carbon Copy, and and then he was That was
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: eighty one, and then he was cast in the So
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: it's the second part probably, and he's on He was
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: on Saying else Where eighty two to eighty eight. That'd
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: be cool to We'll go back and watch a young
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: Denzel on that show.
- 1:22:15Speaker 2: Well he's been. The crazy thing is he's barely on
- 1:22:17Speaker 2: the show, like he was one of the Yeah, you know,
- 1:22:19Speaker 2: they didn't use him a lot on the show, and
- 1:22:23Speaker 2: which was which turned out to be great for him
- 1:22:26Speaker 2: because he would be able to go and do movies
- 1:22:30Speaker 2: instead of you know what I mean, they were like, well,
- 1:22:32Speaker 2: you're not on the show this week, and he'd be like, oh, okay,
- 1:22:34Speaker 2: well there's this dude doing this project. I you know,
- 1:22:38Speaker 2: I'm going to sign on and do it.
- 1:22:39Speaker 5: Then.
- 1:22:39Speaker 2: So, like I remember Cry Freedom coming out. Oh I
- 1:22:42Speaker 2: remember that movie, you know what I mean? Him, and that's.
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: An amazing movie. If you haven't seen it, Cry Freedom.
- 1:22:47Speaker 2: Cry Freedom. Him and Fish called Wander No it was
- 1:22:52Speaker 2: Kevin Klein. Yeah, and so I remember they did. I
- 1:22:56Speaker 2: remember that came out and I remember being like, holy cow,
- 1:22:59Speaker 2: the dude from And this is when my parents were
- 1:23:01Speaker 2: like informing me, no, this guy is an amazing actor.
- 1:23:05Speaker 2: He's done he did theater in New York, you know
- 1:23:07Speaker 2: what I mean, He's now blowing up as an actor.
- 1:23:09Speaker 2: You should really check out if you because you know,
- 1:23:12Speaker 2: I wanted to be an actor at an early age.
- 1:23:14Speaker 2: They were like Denzel Washington and they showed me Cry
- 1:23:17Speaker 2: Freedom and I remember being like, oh my god, this
- 1:23:19Speaker 2: is the most amazing movie ever.
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: Yeah, that was incredible.
- 1:23:22Speaker 2: And uh and I was very young when I came out.
- 1:23:25Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 1:23:26Speaker 2: And then you know, from that Mississippi Massala and you know,
- 1:23:29Speaker 2: The Mighty Quinn and a bunch of other movies.
- 1:23:32Speaker 5: But yeah, then Glory eventually of course Glory.
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: Yeah, Glen Glory was one of the first times as
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: a child that I that I knew who he was.
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: And I've just never seen a performance better than that
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: performance in Glory.
- 1:23:46Speaker 2: By the time Glory came out, I was well versed
- 1:23:48Speaker 2: in Denzel Washington. William go ahead, I was just.
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: Gonna say that for me. William Daniels is the voice
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: of Kit.
- 1:23:56Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: Right, And when when William Daniels started speaking in this episode,
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: I had forgotten. I went, oh my god, it's kid. Yeah,
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: well he was the voice of wat. Oh.
- 1:24:10Speaker 2: Yeah, you never watched night Rider.
- 1:24:12Speaker 1: He's a little bit older than us. So Donald and
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: I were right in the pocket for a team and
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: night Rider And did.
- 1:24:18Speaker 2: You ever watch a Team?
- 1:24:20Speaker 5: No? Oh, or never.
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: Well, you know, I went to Universal Studios and I
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: was a kid. We went to Universal Studios the tour
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: and they had a night Rider car and you could
- 1:24:32Speaker 1: get in it and the car would talk to you,
- 1:24:36Speaker 1: and it was amazing. In hindsight as an adult they
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: obviously had a hidden camera and a guy, but as
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: a child that was like, holy shit, it's Kit And
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: I just remember thinking he was the coolest. And he would,
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: you know, he would say things to try and show
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: off that he could see you. It'd be like I
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: like you, I like your blue shirt, and and I'd
- 1:24:55Speaker 1: be like, oh my god, cat. But they didn't have it.
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: Wasn't it wasn't to William Daniels sitting in some room somewhere.
- 1:25:02Speaker 1: Probably No, I don't think they paid his rate.
- 1:25:05Speaker 2: Did he go on to do Boy Meets World after
- 1:25:08Speaker 2: all of that, after Night Rider and everything? Wasn't he
- 1:25:10Speaker 2: like the next door neighbor William Daniels?
- 1:25:13Speaker 5: Yeah, yes, But I don't know about Boy Meets World,
- 1:25:16Speaker 5: but certainly it would have been after sane elsewhere. Wasn't
- 1:25:20Speaker 5: he I think I'm mixing him up with somebody else.
- 1:25:23Speaker 5: But wasn't he in the graduate? Oh?
- 1:25:26Speaker 2: I don't know, I don't know. That's a good question.
- 1:25:30Speaker 5: He might have been Dustin Hoffman's dad, the one.
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: Who says plastics. Is he the one who says plastics?
- 1:25:38Speaker 5: No, but that's in their yard.
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: That's right. That's a neighbor, right, or a friend.
- 1:25:43Speaker 5: Yeah, I can picture him saying Benjamin, Benjamin. And if
- 1:25:46Speaker 5: it's not him, it's an actor.
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: That Joel's checking reminds me of each other. And then
- 1:25:52Speaker 1: at at Begley h And also Stephen First, who was
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: famously an Animal House. Yeah, have you seen Animal House?
- 1:26:00Speaker 5: Donald?
- 1:26:01Speaker 2: I have seen that. Yes, I have seen animal I.
- 1:26:03Speaker 5: Saw Animal House the night before I left for college.
- 1:26:09Speaker 2: College was college like animal.
- 1:26:12Speaker 5: Not well, you know, it wasn't quite the same. But
- 1:26:16Speaker 5: I did join a fraternity, probably influenced by that somewhat.
- 1:26:20Speaker 5: It seemed like they were having fun.
- 1:26:21Speaker 2: Yeah, did you toga?
- 1:26:24Speaker 5: I don't think we ever did a toga thing. That
- 1:26:26Speaker 5: would be a little too on the notes.
- 1:26:28Speaker 2: Dude, what's up with the zombie movie? All of a sudden,
- 1:26:31Speaker 2: in the middle of this episode, out of nowhere, it
- 1:26:33Speaker 2: turned into a zombie movie.
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: I know it was Mark Buckland directing. I remember, and
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: I remember it was kind of like a wide angle
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: lens and trying to do all sort of a zombie film.
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: I thought that was weird too. Did you notice it? Sorry,
- 1:26:46Speaker 1: I'm going I'm jumping around, but it's seven oh three.
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: I don't know if you noticed this, but the score
- 1:26:50Speaker 1: all of a sudden has like record DJ scratching in it.
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: Did you notice that?
- 1:26:54Speaker 2: I didn't notice.
- 1:26:55Speaker 1: There's like a score queue like all of a sudden,
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: It's like.
- 1:26:58Speaker 2: No fun, Prince of bel Air.
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: Oh wait, so so Joelle is saying that Joel, are
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: you saying that he was in the graduate then he was? Indeed?
- 1:27:07Speaker 3: Sorry, yes, he was in the graduate Neil.
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: You're right, okay, all right, there you go.
- 1:27:13Speaker 2: So in this episode, you know, JD's all word that
- 1:27:15Speaker 2: he UH has gotten sick from UH. And I remember
- 1:27:21Speaker 2: when I was a kid, I just felt invincible, you
- 1:27:23Speaker 2: know what I mean? And you know, even with even
- 1:27:28Speaker 2: with things that I shouldn't have been even with things
- 1:27:30Speaker 2: that I shouldn't have been doing where I should have
- 1:27:32Speaker 2: been using protection, I felt like invincible, like you know,
- 1:27:36Speaker 2: motorcycles whatever whatever it was, where I should have, you know,
- 1:27:40Speaker 2: wore a helmet. I didn't, you know what I mean?
- 1:27:43Speaker 2: And because of that, I got a lot of kids.
- 1:27:45Speaker 2: But the thing is, are you see that way?
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: Are using a cryptic analogy because your daughter is on
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: your lap? Yes, I see, I followed it.
- 1:27:54Speaker 2: Now, yeah you didn't.
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: You didn't wear a helmet when you were on your motorcycle.
- 1:27:59Speaker 2: Absolutely right. But the fear of disease or hurting myself
- 1:28:06Speaker 2: in any way never came across my mind. You didn't
- 1:28:09Speaker 2: think about things like that. Now I have nothing but
- 1:28:14Speaker 2: fear when it comes to that stuff, you know what
- 1:28:16Speaker 2: I mean. And it's it's it's I I noticed that
- 1:28:21Speaker 2: I've because of the situation that we're in, and you know,
- 1:28:25Speaker 2: because of isolation and quarantine and everything like that. I
- 1:28:31Speaker 2: treat people a lot differently because of that. And Ted
- 1:28:35Speaker 2: the lawyer does that to j D at one point
- 1:28:37Speaker 2: where he's like he's trying to play it off where
- 1:28:40Speaker 2: he is, you know, things will be fine, and then
- 1:28:45Speaker 2: he's like, hey, don't you want your pin back? JD's like,
- 1:28:47Speaker 2: don't you want your pin back? And the look and
- 1:28:49Speaker 2: Ted's like, you know, keep it yeah, And that's kind
- 1:28:52Speaker 2: of how I am now, you know what I mean?
- 1:28:54Speaker 2: Like when when the we get groceries delivered, now they
- 1:28:59Speaker 2: knock on the door or I'll wait a minute before
- 1:29:01Speaker 2: I go to the door, just to make sure that
- 1:29:04Speaker 2: the air around the door isn't. You know, Like if
- 1:29:08Speaker 2: we were in a room right now and Neil you
- 1:29:10Speaker 2: would have coughed like that, I'd been like you, okay, man.
- 1:29:14Speaker 1: I know I was coughing last night and I was like,
- 1:29:16Speaker 1: oh my god, my girlfriend must totally think I'm sick.
- 1:29:19Speaker 1: I don't know if you guys are conscious of that.
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: You're like, now you cough in public and you're like, no.
- 1:29:23Speaker 2: No, I'm fine, No, no, no, no, I'm fine. I'm fine.
- 1:29:27Speaker 2: And and that's you know, this episode. You know, everybody
- 1:29:32Speaker 2: needs first of all, everybody needs to first of all
- 1:29:34Speaker 2: chill out, you know what I mean. I know that
- 1:29:36Speaker 2: this is a very dangerous and scary time for us
- 1:29:39Speaker 2: and everything like that, but you're you're always jumping to
- 1:29:43Speaker 2: the worst case scenario, you know what I mean. You
- 1:29:45Speaker 2: you have a you have a you know, a feeling
- 1:29:47Speaker 2: in your foot. You jump online and the next thing
- 1:29:50Speaker 2: you know, You've got gird. You know, you're telling everybody
- 1:29:52Speaker 2: I've got I've got a gout.
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: You know what I mean? Your digestify on your toes.
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: You're fucked.
- 1:29:59Speaker 2: Yeah, you're fucked right, But you know what I mean, It's.
- 1:30:01Speaker 1: Like, I don't know if everyone's like that. Don you
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: and I might be a neurotic and looking everything up
- 1:30:07Speaker 1: and thinking we've got something bad, whereas other people might
- 1:30:09Speaker 1: be like, you know, I'm fine.
- 1:30:11Speaker 2: I don't know that many people that are that think
- 1:30:13Speaker 2: that way, you know what I mean. I think there's
- 1:30:15Speaker 2: a fear. We talked about this earlier. There's a fear
- 1:30:18Speaker 2: of going to the hospital and finding out that something's wrong.
- 1:30:21Speaker 2: So I think a lot of people when something does
- 1:30:23Speaker 2: come up, they're like, ah, you know what, I'm not
- 1:30:25Speaker 2: going to find out about it. If it's really bad,
- 1:30:27Speaker 2: it'll kick my ass later on and then I'll have
- 1:30:29Speaker 2: to go to the hospital and they'll fix it then.
- 1:30:31Speaker 2: But you know, for Jay, for me personally nowadays, with
- 1:30:36Speaker 2: this episode did for me when watching it was like
- 1:30:40Speaker 2: it made me realize I have a real phobia when
- 1:30:42Speaker 2: it comes to germs now, and I have a real
- 1:30:45Speaker 2: phobia when it comes to other people's germs now, and
- 1:30:49Speaker 2: it has a lot to do with what we're going through.
- 1:30:51Speaker 2: But I didn't have that shit when I was a kid.
- 1:30:53Speaker 2: I wasn't afraid of things like this, you know what,
- 1:30:55Speaker 2: I mean, there were people that got stuck with me
- 1:30:58Speaker 2: when we were doing the show. There a couple of
- 1:31:00Speaker 2: people that accidentally got stuck with needles fucking around with
- 1:31:03Speaker 2: the props, you know what I mean, thinking oh this
- 1:31:05Speaker 2: is fake.
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: That would have freaked me out.
- 1:31:06Speaker 2: Either I would have lost my ship. Nowadays, I'd be like,
- 1:31:09Speaker 2: I'm dying. I know I'm dead. Sarah was the only
- 1:31:11Speaker 2: person that I knew. Sarah Schalk was the only person
- 1:31:13Speaker 2: that I knew that was like that was like if
- 1:31:16Speaker 2: if she had if she had the chills, it was
- 1:31:20Speaker 2: it was life for death. I'm dying. I know I'm dying,
- 1:31:23Speaker 2: you know what I mean.
- 1:31:24Speaker 1: It must be a real thing. I mean, while terrifying
- 1:31:27Speaker 1: for for real medical personnel, who who get stuck, I'm
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: sure on occasion if the person had something serious, how
- 1:31:34Speaker 1: scary that would be.
- 1:31:36Speaker 2: We're walking around the house. Don't get sick, and don't
- 1:31:38Speaker 2: break your leg, don't get hurt, you know what I mean.
- 1:31:40Speaker 2: The kids are playing around like, well, everybody, calm down.
- 1:31:44Speaker 2: We don't want to go to the hospital right now.
- 1:31:46Speaker 2: Now's not the time to go to the hospital.
- 1:31:48Speaker 5: Well, really, there's you know, it's never a good time
- 1:31:51Speaker 5: to go to the hospital. But uh yeah, I thought
- 1:31:54Speaker 5: about that, like if you had a appendix.
- 1:31:57Speaker 1: Right, was exact ass cheek.
- 1:32:00Speaker 5: Yeah, I can have my eye shake removed, but it
- 1:32:04Speaker 5: was an elective surgery. Turns out side they couldn't have that.
- 1:32:09Speaker 5: But yeah, you don't want anything to go wrong. You're well,
- 1:32:14Speaker 5: we'll see, you know, in the next week or so
- 1:32:16Speaker 5: if any of this people crowding around each other, uh something.
- 1:32:21Speaker 1: Well, I actually have said I not to be Debbie
- 1:32:24Speaker 1: Downer towards the end of the episode, but that the
- 1:32:27Speaker 1: things are spiking back up in LA and uhh, and
- 1:32:30Speaker 1: no one's talking about it because there's plenty else going
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: on in the news, as we all know. But I
- 1:32:35Speaker 1: read I read some articles like why is no one
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: talking about the new COVID spike in Los Angeles?
- 1:32:41Speaker 5: I think there's spikes in a lot of places, but
- 1:32:44Speaker 5: New York is going down so much that it looks
- 1:32:47Speaker 5: like a flat line.
- 1:32:49Speaker 1: For the country, you mean, like the national line. Yeah, yes, yes,
- 1:32:54Speaker 1: well yeah, I fear I fear that that everyone's kind
- 1:32:57Speaker 1: of over it. You know, people are like, all right,
- 1:32:59Speaker 1: we did fuck it. We got to get out of
- 1:33:01Speaker 1: the house now. And and that might be fine if
- 1:33:04Speaker 1: you live in a place where this isn't as prevalent,
- 1:33:07Speaker 1: but in la it does appear to be climbing back up.
- 1:33:10Speaker 2: And the only reason why we're talking about this right now,
- 1:33:12Speaker 2: we know we try to get you away from as listeners,
- 1:33:15Speaker 2: and we try to keep this as a distraction, a
- 1:33:20Speaker 2: distracted as much as a distraction as possible. But this
- 1:33:23Speaker 2: is in the story. Yes, you know what I mean,
- 1:33:25Speaker 2: And so that's why we.
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: That's why, guys, it's it's in the episode. And so
- 1:33:29Speaker 1: you know about Scott Foley being left I mean, listen
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: and Jowell please weigh in as the only female on
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: the panel, but Scott fully Scott Foley being left alone
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: by Sarah standing there with his roses, it just felt
- 1:33:44Speaker 1: a little like just so mean. I mean, with Elliott,
- 1:33:47Speaker 1: she found love and or not love necessarily, but she
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: really liked this guy. He's as bad as charming as
- 1:33:54Speaker 1: a human being could be. He looks like Scott Foley,
- 1:33:57Speaker 1: She's like, she leaves him, she leaves him at dark.
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: It looks exactly like Scott Volly, she leaves him at
- 1:34:03Speaker 1: the door. I mean, I don't know what are your
- 1:34:04Speaker 1: thoughts on that?
- 1:34:05Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 1:34:05Speaker 3: I think okay, So I didn't get into movies from
- 1:34:07Speaker 3: the seventies until like I was in college. This is
- 1:34:10Speaker 3: sort of my first experience watching a woman be like, listen,
- 1:34:13Speaker 3: I like you, but this career I've invested in is
- 1:34:16Speaker 3: everything to me that we have to pause because it
- 1:34:19Speaker 3: wasn't even like a solid breakup. She's like, right now,
- 1:34:21Speaker 3: I can't make this work. And it like as a
- 1:34:23Speaker 3: you know. Once, I'm like twelve, and I was like,
- 1:34:26Speaker 3: you could just leave a dude for work.
- 1:34:28Speaker 4: It's brilliant started.
- 1:34:31Speaker 3: A white boys at that age. And I was like, oh,
- 1:34:33Speaker 3: so tedious. And so for her to just be like,
- 1:34:35Speaker 3: I'm gonna work on my stuff, I was like, this
- 1:34:36Speaker 3: is brilliant. Oh my god, I really like to see.
- 1:34:40Speaker 1: Oh I okay, there you go. There's the answer. I
- 1:34:43Speaker 1: was like, I mean, I was impressed by the character
- 1:34:45Speaker 1: making that choice because the writers really went out of
- 1:34:48Speaker 1: their way to make sure there was absolutely nothing wrong
- 1:34:51Speaker 1: with this guy. I mean, he was as dreamy as
- 1:34:53Speaker 1: it could be. But she was getting distracted from her
- 1:34:56Speaker 1: work and and she was like, look, I really am
- 1:34:59Speaker 1: excited about but this is what I've worked my whole
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: life for. So I gotta I gotta push you away.
- 1:35:05Speaker 5: Which he's not gone though, is he.
- 1:35:07Speaker 1: No, he does come back.
- 1:35:09Speaker 2: But I don't know that she was distracted. I think
- 1:35:12Speaker 2: it was how the hospital reacted to her and the
- 1:35:15Speaker 2: Walk of Shame in the beginning of the episode. I
- 1:35:18Speaker 2: think that was more of a reason for her to
- 1:35:20Speaker 2: break up with. You know, Elliott is very worried about
- 1:35:23Speaker 2: what everyone thinks about her. That's what the character, That's
- 1:35:25Speaker 2: how the character is, you know. You know, she even
- 1:35:28Speaker 2: says it in the beginning, and ninety nine percent of my
- 1:35:30Speaker 2: life is me trying to impress my dad, you know
- 1:35:33Speaker 2: what I mean. And so I think when the Walk
- 1:35:37Speaker 2: of Shame thing happened and everyone made fun of her,
- 1:35:40Speaker 2: I think that's that's you know, it sent her down
- 1:35:42Speaker 2: the rabbit hole and she spiraled, and that's why.
- 1:35:46Speaker 1: But he was also it wasn't just that Donald she
- 1:35:48Speaker 1: you know, Kelso's like grilling her and she doesn't know
- 1:35:50Speaker 1: the answers to questions. It rounds where she always does,
- 1:35:54Speaker 1: and then she starts getting in her head. At one
- 1:35:55Speaker 1: point she's like, uh, she can't think of something, and
- 1:35:58Speaker 1: I like, I turned around, I'm like, come on, you
- 1:35:59Speaker 1: know that she's tired, maybe because she was up all
- 1:36:02Speaker 1: night playing schoolgirl right.
- 1:36:04Speaker 2: But I think that stems from once again, you know,
- 1:36:07Speaker 2: Kelso seeing her at the at the scrubs machine and
- 1:36:11Speaker 2: giving her ship for not having her scrubs her scrubs.
- 1:36:16Speaker 5: That day, you know what I mean.
- 1:36:17Speaker 2: I think, I don't know, I could be I don't know.
- 1:36:20Speaker 1: It's probably it's probably both a combination of both. But anyway,
- 1:36:22Speaker 1: we all know, we all know the spoiler alert that
- 1:36:24Speaker 1: Scott Foley comes back. He ends up being an animal.
- 1:36:29Speaker 1: Is he a marine biologist or an animal trainer at
- 1:36:31Speaker 1: SeaWorld something like that.
- 1:36:34Speaker 2: But what a great scene that was though, too man
- 1:36:36Speaker 2: where they break up because it looks like it's going
- 1:36:38Speaker 2: one way, you know, and the miss there's a great misdirection, right,
- 1:36:44Speaker 2: you know, she breaks she kind of you see her
- 1:36:47Speaker 2: breaking up with him earlier in the script where he
- 1:36:51Speaker 2: comes to visit her and she's like, and he's doing
- 1:36:56Speaker 2: all the right things, and she's getting pissed off that
- 1:36:58Speaker 2: he's doing all the right things. And then she comes
- 1:37:00Speaker 2: out at the end and it seems like she's gotten
- 1:37:03Speaker 2: over all of the all of the bs that she
- 1:37:05Speaker 2: was holding on to because of her Walk of shame situation,
- 1:37:09Speaker 2: and then in the middle of it, she discovers. Wait
- 1:37:11Speaker 2: a second, it's not just that I am distracted because
- 1:37:14Speaker 2: of how perfect you are. And now's not the time
- 1:37:17Speaker 2: for me to be distracted. Now's the time for me
- 1:37:19Speaker 2: to be the best I possibly can be, so that
- 1:37:23Speaker 2: in a couple of years, in a few years, I
- 1:37:25Speaker 2: can find another I can find a guy just like
- 1:37:28Speaker 2: you and do it all over again. And this time
- 1:37:31Speaker 2: for Keeps and I feel and the way they both
- 1:37:35Speaker 2: play the scene is perfect because it really does feel
- 1:37:39Speaker 2: like Sean is hit by a mac truck because he
- 1:37:43Speaker 2: doesn't see it coming, you know what I mean. He
- 1:37:45Speaker 2: sees it as Okay, she had a bad day. I'm
- 1:37:47Speaker 2: gonna bring her flowers and cheer her up. Yeah, And
- 1:37:50Speaker 2: now she's walking back into the hospital and I'm standing
- 1:37:53Speaker 2: here with a dozen roses.
- 1:37:54Speaker 1: I felt bad for him. I'm such a sucker for
- 1:37:57Speaker 1: the writers. Really how to get me with you know,
- 1:38:00Speaker 1: love that cannot be. I'm like, oh, this poor guy,
- 1:38:02Speaker 1: he's like crazy about this girl. He's standing here with
- 1:38:05Speaker 1: roses and he's like, she's goes, he goes. I'm gonna
- 1:38:07Speaker 1: be I'm gonna wait here because I know you're gonna
- 1:38:09Speaker 1: change your mind in two minutes and She's like, I
- 1:38:11Speaker 1: hope so, and then she doesn't he.
- 1:38:13Speaker 2: Just and then he trashes the roses.
- 1:38:15Speaker 1: Well do you think he trashes the rose that or
- 1:38:16Speaker 1: he leaves them and people just walk all over him.
- 1:38:18Speaker 1: I couldn't just figure that out.
- 1:38:19Speaker 5: Yeah, I just thought of that when I first saw
- 1:38:21Speaker 5: the roses. I thought, yeah, come on, that's a little
- 1:38:23Speaker 5: bit of a hissy fit.
- 1:38:28Speaker 1: Like he was jumping up and down on it.
- 1:38:30Speaker 5: Yes, yes, but the only reason I know that he
- 1:38:35Speaker 5: doesn't disappear well it, come to think of it. Oh, no,
- 1:38:38Speaker 5: the last episode I guess of season one is somebody's wedding.
- 1:38:42Speaker 5: Is it Turk and Carla?
- 1:38:45Speaker 2: No, we don't get married until season three, I think.
- 1:38:47Speaker 5: Well, then.
- 1:38:49Speaker 2: At the end of season two.
- 1:38:50Speaker 5: When we were shooting that episode.
- 1:38:53Speaker 2: He was there in the last episode of the scene
- 1:38:56Speaker 2: your wedding.
- 1:38:57Speaker 5: Yes, that is he So many fays, you.
- 1:39:02Speaker 1: Know, there's so many fans right now that know the
- 1:39:04Speaker 1: show better than us. They're like, you idiots, he's an
- 1:39:06Speaker 1: episode and this one and this one of this one,
- 1:39:09Speaker 1: but we don't know.
- 1:39:11Speaker 2: Oh yeah, let's ask. Let's let a wiki guy, all right.
- 1:39:14Speaker 1: So, Neil, we have this guy. His name is Trevor
- 1:39:17Speaker 1: Trevor Wiki, we have a question. How many more episodes
- 1:39:22Speaker 1: is Scott folly in? And was he? Did he attend
- 1:39:25Speaker 1: Donald and Carla's wedding? Hey, guys, Scott fully appears in
- 1:39:29Speaker 1: twelve episodes over seasons one, three, and eight, including Turk
- 1:39:33Speaker 1: and Carla's wedding reception in the season three finale. All right,
- 1:39:37Speaker 1: we got to wrap this up. Guys. We've been neil.
- 1:39:38Speaker 1: I'm sorry to keep you so long. We've been going
- 1:39:40Speaker 1: an hour and forty five six minutes.
- 1:39:43Speaker 5: It's okay.
- 1:39:44Speaker 1: I hope you had a good time just shooting the
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: ship with us. We miss you.
- 1:39:47Speaker 2: We miss you big time. We'd love to have you
- 1:39:49Speaker 2: back too, if you ever want to come back and
- 1:39:51Speaker 2: hang out with us. Yes, me more than yeah, I
- 1:39:52Speaker 2: will because this was fun.
- 1:39:54Speaker 5: But I thought we would talk about me more. That
- 1:39:59Speaker 5: kind of bored.
- 1:40:00Speaker 1: Oh, he checked out until we started talking about the
- 1:40:03Speaker 1: night terrors. Guy Alf at the foot of his bed
- 1:40:08Speaker 1: against the glass. By the way, Donald, remember we were
- 1:40:11Speaker 1: speaking about that rap song up, sir, mix a lot.
- 1:40:13Speaker 1: Put him on the glass, put him on the baby. Yeah,
- 1:40:15Speaker 1: his nightmare is Alf putting him on the glass.
- 1:40:18Speaker 2: Yeah, that would do it for me too.
- 1:40:20Speaker 1: For now, I have the visual of Alf putting his
- 1:40:23Speaker 1: breasts on on on glass.
- 1:40:25Speaker 2: Or his tail penis or his tail penis.
- 1:40:27Speaker 1: On that note. Thank you everybody for listening. We really

- 1:40:41Speaker 2: it on the podcast. It hasn't moved. It hasn't moved.

- 1:40:46Speaker 1: end the podcast.

- 1:41:34Speaker 1: I wanted to say it, let's save it. Maybe he
- 1:41:36Speaker 1: has a one story about Harrison Ford being difficult to
- 1:41:38Speaker 1: save it? All right, thanks for listening.
- 1:41:43Speaker 2: Just work twice with Harrison Ford, though he's worked twice
- 1:41:45Speaker 2: with Harrison Ford The Crystal Skull and and and The Fugitive.
- 1:41:52Speaker 5: Yeah, for one day each time?
- 1:41:55Speaker 2: Right, Well, once sing you had way more lines than
- 1:41:57Speaker 2: just kimbole.
- 1:42:00Speaker 1: Is that all it was, Kimball?
- 1:42:01Speaker 5: Yeah, it was more in the script, not not much more,
- 1:42:03Speaker 5: but it was. I was wondering which take they would
- 1:42:05Speaker 5: use when I saw the film. We wonder when I'm saying,
- 1:42:09Speaker 5: now back up, come toward me, let me see your hands,
- 1:42:12Speaker 5: you know all that stuff, And I see the movie
- 1:42:15Speaker 5: and it's Kimball Bank straight to me.

- 1:42:24Speaker 1: So that's just cool to me.
