- 0:01John 10 Let us pray. Our Father, who is in heaven,
- 0:12holy is your name, your Kingdom come, your will be done on earth
- 0:23just as it is in heaven. Give us this day Our Daily
- 0:29Bread. Forgive us for our sins.
- 0:35Help us to forgive those who sin against us.
- 0:41Lead us not into temptation. Deliver us from the evil one,
- 0:49for yours is the Kingdom, the power, and the glory forever.
- 0:59God, we are here today to honor you and to bless you God, and to
- 1:05walk in steadfast obedience to the truth that you have revealed
- 1:11to us. God, we are thankful for the
- 1:14words that we hold in our hands that are alive and active and
- 1:18that are reading us and discerning us.
- 1:21And God, I pray that we will hide them in our hearts.
- 1:25Lord, we desire not to sin against you.
- 1:28Father, we desire to be obedient children.
- 1:33God, we desire to be the sheep that hear your voice.
- 1:38God, we desire a touch from you. We desire to be made whole and
- 1:43to be healed. God of all of our infirmities
- 1:46and our sin sickness. God, we desire for you to purify
- 1:51us and purge out all the dross and all the impurities.
- 1:55God, we desire to be made more like you.
- 1:59Lord, we desire to be holy because you are holy.
- 2:02God help us to be your hands and feet.
- 2:06Help us, God, to have the mind of Christ, help us.
- 2:10God to love you even more. Father, we desire to fall even
- 2:15more madly in love with you. God help us to return back to
- 2:20our first love. Help us not to be distracted by
- 2:24this world and by all of the lights and all of the flash and
- 2:29all of the distractions. Lord that are coming our way.
- 2:34Lord, I pray that we will not be LED off.
- 2:38Lord, like a moth to the flame. Lord, I pray that we'll burn
- 2:42bright for you. God, I pray that you'll fill our
- 2:47lamps. Lord, I pray that we can be
- 2:50salt. Lord, for this wicked and dark
- 2:54and perverse generation. God, I pray that we will cleanse
- 2:57the wounds, Father, and that we will purify all of the things
- 3:04that are not clean. Father, give us a clean heart
- 3:10today. God, I pray that we'll season
- 3:13this world with the savour of the Savior.
- 3:18God, I pray that as we move and have our being in you, God, I
- 3:23pray that it touches many lives. I pray that many people come
- 3:27into the fold. God, I pray that they'll hear
- 3:30your voice while they still have time, God, and they won't wait.
- 3:35And Lord, they will not wait till the end.
- 3:38And God enter in as if they escaped out of a fire.
- 3:41God, I pray that they'll put their faith in you today.
- 3:44God, I pray that they'll be sanctified and consecrated
- 3:48today, God. For today is the day of
- 3:51salvation. And so God, we offer that to all
- 3:55that we meet along the way. God, knowing that you worthy of
- 4:00our praise, You're worthy of our adoration, You're worthy of all
- 4:04of our attention. God, and we just desire you and
- 4:08you alone. Father, we press towards you and
- 4:11you alone. Father, we just want to see your
- 4:13eyes like fire and hair like wool.
- 4:16We want to hear your voice, the sound of the many waters.
- 4:19God, we want to see the train of your robe and filling the
- 4:23temple. God, we want to see the rainbow
- 4:26in the sea of glass mingle with fire.
- 4:28God, we desire to be taken up, to be caught up into the throne
- 4:33room. God, we just want to see you,
- 4:36Father, and lay at your feet. Lord, and cast our crowns among
- 4:39your feet. God, we desire nothing more than
- 4:42your presence. Lord Jesus, we only want you and
- 4:47you alone. Jesus, let us touch the hem of
- 4:51your garment today. God, let us lay our head on your
- 4:55chest today. We just want you, Jesus, and we
- 4:58want the whole world to know you, to know you in the way that
- 5:03you can be known. Father, we just want to lock
- 5:07eyes with you. We want to put our hand to the
- 5:09plow. We want to be found doing the
- 5:11things that you would have us to do with this little short
- 5:14lifetime that you've given us. God, I pray that we can be found
- 5:19faithful ministers of the gospel.
- 5:22God, I pray that we can be found doing the things that you would
- 5:26want done for this day and for such a time as this.
- 5:30God, you are our everything. You are our first thought.
- 5:35You are the last thought. You are the Alpha and the Omega.
- 5:39You're the beginning and the end.
- 5:41God of our entire lives. You're the breath and our lungs.
- 5:44You're the heartbeat in our chest.
- 5:46You are our minds. Lord, you give us the mind of
- 5:50Christ. God, you are the reasoning that
- 5:53we have. You are all of our being.
- 5:56And so God, we yield to you. Lord, we open up ourselves
- 6:02completely to you, God, and we trust all of your ways are good,
- 6:09even when we don't understand them.
- 6:10Father, we trust that you're leading us home.
- 6:14We trust that even in the things that we are uncomfortable with,
- 6:18God, you are refining us. So God, we thank you for the
- 6:23sacrifice of Christ. We thank you.
- 6:27We know that He's going to tread the wine press, God, and we just
- 6:31want to be there with him, Father, and we just want to see
- 6:35you and all of your glory. Yes, God, show us your glory.
- 6:39God, come and get your glory. God, it's you and it's you alone
- 6:43that we are here for. And so teach us your eternal
- 6:47ways, your eternal thoughts, your eternal paths.
- 6:50God, teach us through the Scripture.
- 6:52Thank you for the inspired, infallible, and arrant
- 6:56Scripture. God.
- 6:57Thank you for Genesis to Revelation.
- 6:59God, I thank you for the completed work, Father, the
- 7:03authority over the land, the authority over all generations
- 7:07and all people groups and all tongues and all nations.
- 7:11God, this is the authority. And I thank you, God, that we
- 7:14can hold it in our hands and we can have it.
- 7:16And when it is precious to us, God.
- 7:19And so, Lord, we just want you. And it's in Jesus Christ, holy
- 7:24and precious name that I pray, Amen.
- 7:28Let's start in verse one. Truly, truly, I say unto you, he
- 7:38that enters not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbs up
- 7:44some other way. The same is a thief and a
- 7:50robber. So here we can see the correct
- 7:54way to enter into ministry. We can see that it is not a
- 7:58plaque on the wall. We can see that it is not a
- 8:01degree. We can see that we cannot
- 8:04manufacture this calling. The Spirit of God calls out to
- 8:10us. God is beckoning us into the
- 8:14fold, but we must respond. We cannot blasphemy the Spirit
- 8:18when it is calling out to us. Friends, we must enter in the
- 8:24straight and the narrow way. We cannot hop over the fence.
- 8:30We must enter in through Jesus Christ.
- 8:34And then it is the sacrifice in the blood of Jesus Christ that
- 8:39atones for all of our sins. So we can stand in the presence
- 8:43of God Almighty. And it is only by that blood
- 8:47that we can enter in, friends. And if we try to enter in
- 8:52through all of our works and through all of our behavior,
- 8:56we've missed the mark. Verse 2 But he that enters in by
- 9:02the door is the shepherd of the sheep.
- 9:07So here we can see that Jesus Christ is the Good Shepherd.
- 9:12We can see here that we are His flock, we are in His fold and
- 9:19He's telling us and He's making it plain to all of the religious
- 9:23leaders and all the Jews who are listening to him give this
- 9:28message. And perhaps this message came
- 9:31right after the healing of the man that was born blind.
- 9:36We can see here that he is wanting to show them that they
- 9:43are airing grievously by not entering in through him, but
- 9:48trying to get there by all of their religion and politics and
- 9:53trying to get there by the law and trying to get there by
- 9:57having all of the Pentateuch and traditions and having all of
- 10:03their man made ideas. And he's showing them that
- 10:07unless they come to him honestly, unless they come to
- 10:11him and fall on that stone and be broken to pieces, they cannot
- 10:18enter in. And if they are left in that
- 10:21state, then that stone will fall on them and pulverize them.
- 10:26Verse 3. To him the Porter opens, and the
- 10:31sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name, and
- 10:36leads them out. So here we can see that in this
- 10:41time he as he was talking to all of the Jews of the land at this
- 10:47time, they would have understood this parable.
- 10:51They would have understood this saying of his that whenever the
- 10:58sheep were put up in a town, they were put together in a pen
- 11:04and the shepherd would come to the keeper of the door and he
- 11:08would gain access into that pen and he would call out and his
- 11:14sheep knew his distinctive call and they would come running
- 11:19towards him. And the other sheep that did not
- 11:22know it would stand back and would not come.
- 11:26So here Jesus is referencing to all of them that would have been
- 11:30very familiar with this practice.
- 11:33But for you and for I, the application is we can know when
- 11:38when a counterfeit comes across. We can know when it's not the
- 11:43voice of God by studying and listening and being in tune with
- 11:48God's voice. And His voice is all over every
- 11:52single one of these pages, from Genesis to Revelation.
- 11:56It's one voice, friends, and it's calling out to you, and
- 12:00it's calling out to me. And the voice is of Christ, and
- 12:04it is on every page and every syllable, friends, every comma
- 12:09and every period, friends. It's Christ and Christ
- 12:12crucified. And so we must hear this voice
- 12:15and know this voice and understand this voice, so that
- 12:20when a counterfeit does come across, not if, but when a
- 12:25counterfeit comes across, the spirit of Antichrist, whenever
- 12:29it calls out to us, we are not duped.
- 12:32We are not LED astray. We can know that we are obeying
- 12:37that voice, that still small voice.
- 12:40And sometimes it is counter to our own understanding.
- 12:43But that is OK because the way of God in the way of Jesus
- 12:48Christ is perfect and good and it's whole and it's trustworthy
- 12:53and it's true and no matter if it makes you uncomfortable, we
- 12:57must obey those things. But far be it from us to listen
- 13:02to the spirit of Antichrist that tells us to fall into comfort,
- 13:06to fall into self-reliance, to fall into money and the spirit
- 13:13of mammon, to fall into all of our prejudiceness and all of the
- 13:18things that plague us. Fall into deception.
- 13:22These are the lies and the trickery of the enemy.
- 13:24And we must be on guard and safeguard ourselves by listening
- 13:29and being in tune with the voice of God on every single one of
- 13:33these pages. Friends, we must get in this
- 13:35good book. Study it.
- 13:37This is the lifeline, friends. He's given us his spoken word.
- 13:41He's given us the the complete authority, but we must get in
- 13:44it. And the Word became flesh.
- 13:46We must get in it, friends, and learn it for ourselves and know
- 13:50it for ourselves, own it for ourselves and live it out.
- 13:53Friends. It's not enough just to hear it,
- 13:56but we must obey, friends, and we must have faith and increase
- 14:00the faith. As the storms of life wage and
- 14:03rage all around us, friends, we must obey it.
- 14:07We must increase our faith and let the faith that we have
- 14:12become practical in action. Friends.
- 14:15And what does that look like? Taking care of widows and
- 14:18orphans in their time of distress.
- 14:20What does it look like to seek justice and to love mercy and to
- 14:24walk humbly? What does that look like,
- 14:26friends? It looks like us being able to
- 14:33safeguard ourselves from sexual immorality.
- 14:37This is the will of God for us, friends, is to not fall into all
- 14:42the traps and all the deception of the enemy.
- 14:46And it will come and it is relentless, but we must resist
- 14:50the enemy and he will flee from us.
- 14:52Friends, soak that shield of faith in the water, the living
- 14:58water, and as it is heavy, lift it up over your head.
- 15:01Lift it up over your your thoughts and your mind, and
- 15:04watch how it extinguishes the fiery darts of the enemy.
- 15:11For and when he puts forth his own sheep, he goes before them,
- 15:16and the sheep follow him, for they know His voice.
- 15:19Do you know his voice, friends? It is congruent.
- 15:23It is the same from Genesis to Revelation.
- 15:27And if you want to know the unrevealed will of God, you must
- 15:30obey the revealed will of God. God, do you know his voice
- 15:34today? It's on every page 5.
- 15:40And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him,
- 15:45for they know not the voice of the strangers.
- 15:48These are the ones who try to start all of these cults.
- 15:52These are the ones who try to masquerade themselves as angels
- 15:57of light. These are the ones who try to
- 16:00dupe the masses with prosperity gospel.
- 16:03These are the ones who try to twist the scriptures for their
- 16:08own benefit and we must be safeguarded against those.
- 16:13We need the pure word friends. We need the true religion
- 16:18friends, We need God Almighty. We need a relationship with God
- 16:22Almighty through His Son Jesus Christ.
- 16:25We need to be in dwelled with the Holy Spirit and have
- 16:28discernment friends. 6 This parable spoke Jesus unto them,
- 16:35but they did not understand what things they were which he spoke
- 16:40unto them. So here it was a paradox.
- 16:43In here Jesus knows that as he speaks to them, he doesn't just
- 16:49tell them outright. He speaks to them in a parable
- 16:53so that it will be revealed to those who honestly approach him
- 16:58and they will go in as he cast alongside of them.
- 17:02But for those who remain at the door, those who do not choose to
- 17:07enter into this parable, they will be left outside friends,
- 17:12and the door will be shut and they will bang on it and say,
- 17:15let us in. But he will say, The door is
- 17:17shut now, and then you will go into eternal separation from
- 17:23Him. The weeping and gnashing of
- 17:25teeth, Friends. Seven Then said Jesus unto them
- 17:33again, Truly, truly, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.
- 17:42So here this time these shepherds would lay across the
- 17:47entrance into the fold, and the sheep could not come over him
- 17:53without Him knowing it. The wolves could not come in
- 17:57without Him knowing it. He's telling you, Here's another
- 18:00one of His great I am claims to his messianic title to his
- 18:06deity. Friends, He's showing the Jews
- 18:09here, He is the great I am, and we know that the Trinity is 3
- 18:18separate persons operating in one office, God the Father, God
- 18:24the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
- 18:27Friends 8 All that ever came before me are thieves and
- 18:40robbers. But the sheep did not hear them.
- 18:44So he's talking about the false prophets.
- 18:47He's talking about all of the wicked religious leaders who
- 18:55tried to lead the people astray and to get them to believe that
- 19:00it was all about money, it was all about power, it was all
- 19:03about greed, that it was all about position.
- 19:08And Jesus is saying that even though they looked the part,
- 19:12they were not of me because they were thieves and they used
- 19:18deception and they were robbers. They were brutal in their force.
- 19:24And how many times have we seen that played out?
- 19:28But I would have you to know that that that has nothing to do
- 19:31with God. God is loving and God is good
- 19:34and God is pure and God is wholesome.
- 19:37And God doesn't see people as a means to an end.
- 19:41God sees them as eternal beings who are going to spend eternity
- 19:47somewhere. And there are only two choices.
- 19:49And we must get it right while there is still breath in our
- 19:53lungs. Friends. 9 I am the door by me.
- 20:05If any man enters in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and
- 20:11out, and find pasture. So here he makes another.
- 20:16I am proclamation unto the Jews, and unto all the religious
- 20:21people, and. These are bold claims that he is
- 20:27God Incarnate and he's showing them that he is the door.
- 20:33He's showing them that he is the one that they must enter in, and
- 20:43if they will enter in through him, then they can go in and out
- 20:49and they will find pasture. And it shows us that we have
- 20:52free will, and it shows us that we are empowered by him.
- 20:56And it shows us that we can have our being in Him, and that we
- 21:01can be settled in Him, and that we have the ability, friends, to
- 21:07minister unto those. He's showing us that this
- 21:11pasture, we will never be hungry.
- 21:15He's showing us that when we are with Him, there's freedom,
- 21:18friends, there's freedom where the Spirit of God is.
- 21:26He's showing us how we must be saved.
- 21:28It is by entering in to a relationship with God Almighty
- 21:35through His Son Jesus Christ through the spilled blood on
- 21:39Calvary 10. The thief comes not but for to
- 21:46steal and to kill and to destroy.
- 21:54I am come that they might have life and they might have it more
- 21:58abundantly. So here in verse 10, friends, we
- 22:02know this verse well that the enemy, the devil, Satan, his
- 22:09only tactic is to steal, kill and destroy.
- 22:13He's been doing it since the Garden of Eden.
- 22:17And if it's not broke, then don't fix it.
- 22:20And it works, friends. He promises us such luxury.
- 22:26He promises us such prosperity. He promises us that we will have
- 22:34all the glory without the suffering in Jesus Christ's way
- 22:39is that if we will choose to lay down our lives for our brothers
- 22:44on this side, that we will inherit eternal life.
- 22:48And that we will experience all of the glory that He has and
- 22:55that we can have the abundant life now.
- 22:58That we cannot be tricked and duped by the enemy.
- 23:02His way only leads to death. There is no deliverance on any
- 23:10of the promises. He He is only a counterfeit.
- 23:15That is the reason that he is the Antichrist.
- 23:18He desires to be worshipped like Christ, but he cannot deliver on
- 23:23any of the promises that Jesus Christ promises us.
- 23:27We must get attached and yoked to Jesus.
- 23:30We cannot get duped by all of the promise of prosperity, all
- 23:35the promise of glory without suffering.
- 23:38We cannot get duped by the promise that we can have all the
- 23:44things that we could ever want here, and if we'll just bow down
- 23:48to Satan, then all the kingdoms of the world will be ours.
- 23:51He cannot deliver on these false promises.
- 23:55These are lies. He is the father of lies and He
- 23:59will lie to you over and over and over and over and over again
- 24:04until you latch on to 1 lie and then He puts the ring in your
- 24:07nose and He leads you off into bondage, which leads to your
- 24:12demise and to your your death friends.
- 24:15And in the beginning it sure looked pretty.
- 24:18It sure looked good. It sure looked promising.
- 24:21But in the end, it bites like a Viper.
- 24:24It is death, friends, and we cannot be duped by Him.
- 24:33Jesus invites us into the abundant life, friends, and the
- 24:37abundant life is being filled with the Spirit and having
- 24:41discernment and knowing what to do and when to do it and how to
- 24:45do it. Knowing that when you get to the
- 24:47fork in the road that He is going to lead you on the right
- 24:50path. Knowing that whenever you have
- 24:53to make a hard decision, He's going to be there with you to
- 24:56help you make that decision. Knowing that if you wake up and
- 25:00acknowledge Him, He's going to direct your steps.
- 25:02Knowing that He's leading you home and that you're going from
- 25:06glory to glory. Knowing that any suffering that
- 25:09you have to go through in this life is nothing in comparison to
- 25:13what He has in store for you in the life to come.
- 25:16Knowing that this abundant life can be started now, but we will
- 25:21have it in its entirety in eternity.
- 25:24Friends 11 I am the Good Shepherd.
- 25:29The Good Shepherd gives his life for the sheep.
- 25:32So we can see here another I am statement that he is claiming to
- 25:38be God. He's saying I am the Good
- 25:42Shepherd. And he asked the rich young
- 25:44ruler, why do you call me good? There is none good but God.
- 25:48And so we know that he is God and that he is showing them and
- 25:53he's showing us that he lays down his life and no one took it
- 25:57from him that he laid it down for us, and that there is no
- 26:04greater love than that. And the resurrection power, when
- 26:08he took it back up, is available to you and available to me, the
- 26:12same power that raised Jesus Christ from the dead.
- 26:15And we're going to see that as he continues on. 12 But he that
- 26:19is a hireling, and not the shepherd who's owned the sheep,
- 26:24are not sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees, and
- 26:29the wolf catches them and scatters the sheep.
- 26:33So we can see here that these dumb blind shepherds, these dumb
- 26:41dogs who do not know how to bark, they allow the wolf into
- 26:46the pen. They go running as soon as they
- 26:49see opposition. And they were only there for
- 26:52their own selfish gain. They'd cared nothing for the
- 26:57sheep. And we can see here that Jesus
- 26:59Christ modeled for us what it looks like to lay down our lives
- 27:03for the sheep and to protect them and to care for them. 13
- 27:11The hireling flees because he is a hireling and cares not for the
- 27:16sheep. 14 I am the Good Shepherd, and I know my sheep
- 27:22and am known of mine. So the sheep know him.
- 27:26Do you know his voice? Can you discern his voice?
- 27:29Do you know whenever there's a counterfeit, Satan always leaves
- 27:34the calling card? He will tell the truth wrapped
- 27:41up in a lie. He will tell a lie wrapped up in
- 27:44the truth He gives us, just like He did with Eve.
- 27:49He gives us what we think of as truth, but in that there will be
- 27:55a lie sprinkled in. That should raise the alarm.
- 28:01It should have us to see it and to not just Passover it.
- 28:07Satan cannot deliver on the promises that he tries to give
- 28:15us. And if we are in tune with God,
- 28:18we'll hear Jesus's voice and He will call us out of that lie.
- 28:24He'll call us out of that sin. And we do not have to stay
- 28:29stuck, Friends. We can get unstuck by listening
- 28:33for the Shepherd's voice, and He will lead you into paths of
- 28:38righteousness. 15 As the Father knows me, Even so I know the
- 28:45Father, and I lay down my sheep, my life for the sheep.
- 28:49So here he's telling us that he's going to the cross and he's
- 28:54going to give his life as a ransom for many, and that he's
- 28:59going to take it back up again. 16 And other sheep I have which
- 29:07are not of this fold, them also I must bring, and they shall
- 29:13hear my voice, and there shall be one fold and 1 shepherd.
- 29:19So we can see here that he's talking about the Gentiles, he's
- 29:24talking to the Jews, and he's saying that he has Gentiles in
- 29:28the world that he's going to call.
- 29:30And there is one shepherd and there is one fold.
- 29:38So you can see here that we are intermingled and we all listen
- 29:44to the Good Shepherd, and the Jews and the Gentiles together
- 29:50will inherit eternal life if they will believe and enter in
- 29:55through the door, through the Good Shepherd, through Jesus
- 30:00Christ. He is the only way to the
- 30:05Father. 17 Therefore does my Father love me because I lay
- 30:12down my life, that I might take it again.
- 30:15Resurrection power on full display, friends. 18 No man
- 30:20takes it from me, but I lay it down of myself.
- 30:23I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again.
- 30:28This commandment have I received of my Father.
- 30:32So we know that Elijah and Moses came and spoke with Jesus on the
- 30:37Mount of Transfiguration, and they were explaining to him all
- 30:41the things that would happen in here.
- 30:44We could see that Jesus has received a commandment from the
- 30:48Father, that he has the ability to lay it down and to take it up
- 30:53again. 19 There was a division, therefore again among the Jews
- 30:57for these sayings. That's what Jesus does.
- 31:00He draws the line in the sand. And you must choose this day.
- 31:07You must choose. But As for me, in my house we
- 31:11will serve the Lord. Choose you whom you will serve
- 31:16this day. But As for me, in my house we
- 31:20will serve the Lord. I pray that you can say that
- 31:23there's such a division, a line in the sands.
- 31:26You're either for him or you're against him.
- 31:30There is no neutrality with Jesus Christ. 20 And many of
- 31:36them said He has a devil, he is mad, why do we hear him?
- 31:4221 Others said these are not the words of him that has a devil.
- 31:46Can the devil open the eyes of the blind?
- 31:48So here you can see that half were divided and that some of
- 31:54them tried to relegate all of his authority to some kind of
- 31:59demonic authority. And the other ones who would
- 32:03come to him honestly and openly, then they could see that the
- 32:08devil has no power to do the things that Jesus Christ did.
- 32:11Everything that Jesus Christ touched turned to life, friends
- 32:15and life abundantly. And we must see that Jesus is
- 32:20good, and that He has all power, and that there is life that
- 32:27springs from Him. Even in the destructive miracles
- 32:31of the fig tree, whenever He said that it would be barren, He
- 32:36was showing us that we must have life and that he desires life,
- 32:43and it is only life when you come to Him. 22 And it was at
- 32:51Jerusalem, the feast of the dedication, and it was winter.
- 32:55So here we know that during the 400 years of silence between the
- 33:02Old Testament and the New Testament, we know that there
- 33:05was a lot going on there. We know that Antiochus Epiphanes
- 33:10came in and there was a foreshadowing of what is to come
- 33:16in the tribulation. And there was so much
- 33:19destruction and there were thousands and thousands of Jews
- 33:24that were destroyed and sold into slavery.
- 33:27And there were laws that were enacted against all of the
- 33:30Jewish customs. And there was pig's blood that
- 33:33was being spilled out on the holy altar.
- 33:36And there was the gold being stripped out of the temple.
- 33:40And there was so much of the foreshadowing of the
- 33:47abominations of desolations and the desecration of the temple.
- 33:54And you can see here that this is what is referenced in this
- 33:57feast of the dedication. And we know that for Hanukkah.
- 34:01And we know that during that time, if you go back and read
- 34:05the history, not inspired, but the history of the Jews, you can
- 34:11see that there was enough oil for one day and it burned for
- 34:168:00. And you can see here that it's
- 34:18all referenced in this, this one little passage that Jesus is
- 34:22about to speak on. And we know that it was winter,
- 34:26or as some would say, it was stormy.
- 34:29Let's see what has to happen here. 23 And Jesus walked in the
- 34:33temple in Solomon's porch. So we see Jesus.
- 34:39He is walking along the porch. We know that this is during the
- 34:45festival of dedication. 24 Then came the Jews round and about
- 34:51him, and said unto him, How long do you make us to doubt?
- 34:57So Jesus has already made it as plain as possible, and here
- 35:01they're encircling him. Here they're trying to trap him.
- 35:05Here they want him to make it plain, and that wasn't so that
- 35:10they would believe on him. They were trying to trap him
- 35:13here. And he knows all of their
- 35:15motives and tactics. Let's see what he has to say
- 35:18about it. If you be the Christ, tell us
- 35:24plainly. 25 Jesus answered them. I told you, and you believe not
- 35:30the works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness
- 35:33of me. 26 But you believed not, because you are not of my sheep,
- 35:40as I said unto you. 27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them,
- 35:45and they follow me. 28 And I give unto them eternal life,
- 35:51that, and they shall never perish, neither shall any man
- 35:57pluck them out of my hand. So here you can see that if we
- 36:02will abide in Christ, and we will get grafted in as wild
- 36:07branches, grafted into the natural, and if we will stay
- 36:11there, we will have our eternal life.
- 36:15Friends, it is by getting connected to the vine, it is by
- 36:20producing fruit that it proves our inheritance, it proves that
- 36:27we are with Him. And it is a natural overflow,
- 36:31the abundance that comes from the life that is connected to
- 36:37Him, abiding in Him, we know that that is proof that we
- 36:42belong to Him and we will have eternal life.
- 36:46And you cannot hide the light, you cannot.
- 36:51It will shine bright. And the fruit shows that we
- 36:55belong to him, and we don't have to work towards producing that
- 36:59fruit. It is so natural. 29 My father,
- 37:03which gave them me, is greater than all.
- 37:06And no man is able to pluck them out of my father's hand.
- 37:10How many times he backs it up, He shows us that Satan cannot
- 37:16pluck us out of God's hand. If we will abide with him, if we
- 37:21will stay with him, it will go well with us.
- 37:24Friends, we can know that we know that we know that we know
- 37:29that we're going to bust heaven wide open.
- 37:32We can know that we have our assurance of salvation.
- 37:37We do not have to doubt it, friends, We don't have to have a
- 37:41hope. So maybe so kind of faith, we
- 37:44can have a know so kind of faith and it is proven by the fruit
- 37:51that we bear, and it will naturally occur as we stay
- 37:56connected to the vine. 30I and my father are one God the Father
- 38:03and God the Son and God the Holy Ghost, three persons in one. 31
- 38:11Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.
- 38:15We can see multiple times how many times they were wanting to
- 38:20stone him, but it was not yet his time.
- 38:23He was on a divine timeline, and we know that he was operating in
- 38:29the will of the Father, and there he was, bulletproof,
- 38:34untouchable, until it was time for him to give up the ghost,
- 38:43and no one took it from him. 32 Jesus answered them.
- 38:49Many good works have I showed you from my Father.
- 38:52For which of those works do you stone me?
- 38:5633 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone
- 39:01you not, but for blasphemy, and because that you being a man
- 39:07makes yourself God. Wow, we can see that Jesus is
- 39:18God, came down wrapped in flesh, lived a perfect sinless life,
- 39:26showed everyone the way to the Father and how they must come to
- 39:34God through Jesus Christ, through the sacrifice of his
- 39:38blood on the cross, being indwelled with the Holy Spirit.
- 39:44And here these Jews and these Pharisees and these religious
- 39:49leaders, they refused to come to Him honestly.
- 39:54They refused to come to Him in the right posture, and they
- 40:00thought that He was blaspheming God, but He proved to them that
- 40:06He was their Messiah, but they did not want to see it.
- 40:10They did not want to come to him and be truthful in their
- 40:15approach. 34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your
- 40:23law? I said, You are gods?
- 40:2835 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and
- 40:34the Scripture cannot be broken. 36 Say you of him whom the
- 40:41Father has sanctified and sent into the world, you blasphemy,
- 40:47because I said I am the Son of God.
- 40:51So Jesus makes it plain. Jesus cannot make it any more
- 40:56clear that He is the only begotten Son, that whosoever
- 41:03will believe in him shall not perish, but have eternal life,
- 41:08and they refuse to believe it. Here Jesus is referencing
- 41:12Psalms, the book of Psalms, where God calls the righteous
- 41:18judges to be lowercase G gods, and he's saying that all
- 41:23scripture cannot be broken. It's an error and it's
- 41:26infallible. What is written remains, and
- 41:30here Jesus is showing them their hypocrisy.
- 41:35And if they would just concede on the point that the Scriptures
- 41:42are true and that the Scriptures are trustworthy, then there is
- 41:49no plausible, plausible way that they can try to connect this
- 41:54blaspheming charge to Jesus Christ by saying that He is the
- 41:59Son of God. And they erred and they fell
- 42:05away because of their blindness, and they had seared their
- 42:10conscience, and they would not come to Him as the only way.
- 42:17And it is their disobedience that led to our salvation.
- 42:25And it is a divine mystery that once you and I are coming into
- 42:29the fold, the jealousy of the Jews will cause them to come to
- 42:34the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior.
- 42:37What an amazing mystery that God had orchestrated since the
- 42:45beginning of time. 37 If I do not, the works of my Father
- 42:53don't believe me. 38 But if I do, though you believe me, not
- 43:00believe the works that you may know and believe that the Father
- 43:05is in me and I in him. So you can see here that they
- 43:11have this communion that the Father and the Son, if you go
- 43:15back to Genesis and look, there is a passage that says let us
- 43:22make them in our own image. And this is God the Father and
- 43:28God the Son communing and speaking about the creation of
- 43:34mankind. And you can see the Trinity at
- 43:38play throughout all of Scripture.
- 43:41It is congruent and it all fits together perfectly, and we can
- 43:46see it that Jesus and God are one, but they are separate
- 43:52persons. 39 Therefore they sought again to take him, but he
- 44:00escaped out of their hand. They couldn't touch him, 40 and
- 44:05went away again beyond Jordan, into the place where John at
- 44:10first baptized, and there he abode.
- 44:14So he got out of the jurisdiction of Pilot, in the
- 44:18jurisdiction of the Sanhedrin, and he went in to Harrods
- 44:24jurisdiction to get ready for the final battle, the Battle of
- 44:32Calvary. Whenever he would sweat like
- 44:35drops of blood and he would ask the Father if there was any
- 44:40other way to take this cup of wrath, of indignation, of all
- 44:44the sins of the world that was going to be poured out on him.
- 44:48He went to prepare for that, friends, and we know that Jesus
- 44:54often went to desolate places, and we know that he was going to
- 44:59commune with the Father and to receive the filling.
- 45:03And we would do well to do the same, friends, to get away from
- 45:07the hustle and the bustle and the rat race of life, and turn
- 45:11off all the noise and sit in God's presence, and take every
- 45:16thought captive and make them obedient unto Christ.
- 45:20As you sit in the silence, do not let your mind run.
- 45:24Do not let your mind just go wherever it wants to go.
- 45:28Take all of those thoughts captive and make them obedient
- 45:32unto Christ, and replace all the lies with truth.
- 45:38That is the way that we conquer all of our emotions.
- 45:43That is the way that we ascend the hill with clean hands,
- 45:49friends, with a pure heart. Friends.
- 45:55We can not bow down to idols, we cannot swear by a false God, but
- 46:02we enter into his presence, friends, that way. 41 And many
- 46:14resorted unto him and said, John did no miracle, but all things
- 46:19that John spoke of this man were true. 42 And many believed on
- 46:25him there. So we can see that the religious
- 46:33leaders refused to believe on him.
- 46:35And he goes over to the Jordan, he goes out of the area of
- 46:41Jerusalem, and he goes to where John the Baptist had his
- 46:45ministry and where all the people were coming to be
- 46:48baptized. And it says that many believed
- 46:51on Jesus. And we see that John decreased
- 46:56as Jesus increased. And that was the way of the
- 47:02Father. And we know it is still the same
- 47:05today. We must decrease and let Jesus
- 47:08increase over our lives and speak a better word over all of
- 47:13the lies of the enemy. We must be on guard.
- 47:17I hope you've been blessed by this amazing chapter here in
- 47:21God's Word. We get so much theology from
- 47:25this one chapter about what we believe and how to operate in
- 47:30this life. We get so much.
- 47:34It's so rich. It's a deep, deep well, and we
- 47:36must unearth all the gems and jewels.
- 47:40I'm praying for you and I love you.
- 47:49So does God. Stay prayed up today and tell
- 47:58somebody your salvation story as you go out.
- 48:02Tell them what the Lord has done for you.
- 48:05Bring that back on your mind and it'll edify you to hear yourself
- 48:10speak that. See you back here tomorrow.
- 48:15God bless you.
