- 0:00It is Christmas time. Some of us are going to have houseguests for Christmas.
- 0:05I am assuming that we will clean up more than usual, bring out the best decor,
- 0:11and furnish up the house as if that is the way we normally live.
- 0:15We want our guests to be comfortable and welcome.
- 0:18Many sermons educate us on how Jesus wants to come into our hearts if we let him in.
- 0:25We are taught about how He will sanctify us and prepare us for our eternal life in heaven.
- 0:31Do you wonder what He will find when you let Him in?
- 0:35Every morning, in my prayer time with our good Lord, I conclude our Lord's prayer
- 0:40by asking Him to come into my heart and hang out with me all day long. Then I get nervous.
- 0:47What if my heart is an uncomfortable place for Him to stay?
- 0:52My guess is that I am not that far off in my assessment of how uncomfortable
- 0:57it might be for Him to live in my heart.
- 1:01We as Christians think that we have minor issues, but if our yardstick is Jesus
- 1:07Christ, there is no way that our hearts are inhabitable.
- 1:11Our life is a daily, hourly battle against sin.
- 1:16Though we have won through Jesus, we do have to go through the motions of making
- 1:21smart choices and protecting our heart.
- 1:25Quote, Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.
- 1:33End quote. Proverbs chapter 4, verse 23. You're welcoming Jesus.
- 1:41You want him to take permanent residence in your heart. does your heart look
- 1:46like a swanky mansion or a run-down cottage?
- 1:52Imagine yourself as a living house. God comes in to rebuild the house.
- 1:58At first, perhaps, you can understand what he is doing.
- 2:02He is getting the drains right and stopping the leaks on the roof and so on.
- 2:07You knew that these jobs needed doing and so you are not surprised.
- 2:12But presently, he starts knocking the house about in a way that hurts abominably
- 2:17and does not seem to make any sense.
- 2:21What on earth is he up to? The explanation is that he is building quite a different
- 2:27house from the one you thought of, throwing out a new wing here,
- 2:32putting on an extra floor there,
- 2:34running up towers, making courtyards.
- 2:37You thought you were being made into a decent little cottage,
- 2:41but he is building a palace.
- 2:44He intends to come and live in it himself." C.S.
- 2:50Lewis from Mere Christianity I think what C.S.
- 2:55Lewis is so articulately expressing here is that I do not need to worry about
- 3:00cleaning my house before letting Jesus in.
- 3:03I must let him in and grant him complete lordship to my heart.
- 3:09He becomes the owner of my little heart. He knows what is right for me,
- 3:14so he will fix it up into whatever it needs to be. What am I doing then?
- 3:20I am aligning my will and keeping in mind that He will be uncomfortable if I
- 3:26continue with my sinful behavior.
- 3:28Most importantly, be of good courage in tough situations because He is going to fix it all.
- 3:35Quote, Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous.
- 3:40Do not be afraid. Do not be discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. End quote.
- 3:48Joshua chapter 1 verse 9. There is great hope for us.
- 3:53Let him in and watch your life transform into something unimaginably beautiful.
- 4:00It may seem slow and hard, but close your eyes and rejoice in the knowledge
- 4:05that he is in your heart forever.
- 4:09What a beautiful love story. and you are the protagonist. God bless you.
- 4:15Dear God, come into my heart and take ownership.
- 4:19Be the Lord of my heart. Fix what needs fixed and throw out what needs thrown out.
- 4:25Rebuild, renew, and make it a slice of heaven so that no evil can take residence
- 4:30in my heart and goodness will always prevail. Amen.
