Transcript
- 0:12Speaker 1: Hey, everybody. Welcome to Pink Shade. It's Thursday.
- 0:14Speaker 2: Thursday is the day we talk about pop culture and
- 0:17Speaker 2: Bravo mostly. Today I have my friend. It is Aliza Rosen.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Aliza is a podcast producer. Her latest podcast she's producing
- 0:27Speaker 2: is called The Gilded Very, very interesting. And we're going
- 0:31Speaker 2: to talk about that. And we're going to talk about Bravo.
- 0:33Speaker 1: Hey, girl.
- 0:34Speaker 3: Hey, girl. How are you?
- 0:35Speaker 4: It's been a minute.
- 0:36Speaker 1: I know. Now, listen. I saw you last June.
- 0:41Speaker 3: Really? Yes.
- 0:43Speaker 1: Because I was in town for Heather's 10th anniversary of
- 0:46Speaker 1: Juicy Scoop.
- 0:48Speaker 3: I feel like that was a year ago last June.
- 0:50Speaker 4: Was it really just this past June?
- 0:51Speaker 1: Yeah, last June. Not this June. Last June.
- 0:56Speaker 4: Like June of 2026?
- 0:57Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 0:58Speaker 1: June of 2025.
- 0:59Speaker 4: Yeah, that makes more sense. Okay.
- 1:01Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:02Speaker 1: And you told.
- 1:04Speaker 2: Me at that dinner, at lunch, about two podcasts you
- 1:08Speaker 2: were working on. And the first thing you said to
- 1:11Speaker 2: me was, what do you think when I say the
- 1:13Speaker 2: word gerbil? And I was like, Richard Gere had one
- 1:17Speaker 2: up his butt?
- 1:18Speaker 1: And you did an.
- 1:19Speaker 2: Entire podcast about that rumor and that myth and how
- 1:23Speaker 2: it got started and And then you also told me
- 1:26Speaker 2: this story and you were like, and then, and then,
- 1:29Speaker 2: but get this, she's on trial for murder, but get this.
- 1:32Speaker 1: I was like, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
- 1:34Speaker 4: Back up.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Back up. I'm confused.
- 1:36Speaker 2: Are we doing three podcasts here or just one? But
- 1:39Speaker 2: you told me a story that was so long and
- 1:41Speaker 2: winding and it was the, this, the Gilded Rage, the
- 1:45Speaker 2: one that you're working on now, the one that just
- 1:47Speaker 2: came out.
- 1:48Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:49Speaker 4: Oh my gosh.
- 1:49Speaker 3: I can't believe that we talked about all that. See,
- 1:52Speaker 3: I have no memory, but I love that you remember.
- 1:54Speaker 4: So gerbil, it's funny.
- 1:56Speaker 1: I was fascinated. You know how much I love podcasts.
- 1:58Speaker 4: I was fascinated.
- 1:58Speaker 3: I know. These were both like up your alley in
- 2:01Speaker 3: different ways. So start with gerbil. It's funny because both
- 2:03Speaker 3: of them have been labors of love going on three
- 2:06Speaker 3: years now. For Alan Salkin, the host of Gerbil and
- 2:09Speaker 3: the journalist, it's been six years. So this is a crazy,
- 2:14Speaker 3: it depends on sort of like how old you are,
- 2:16Speaker 3: but the truth is that kind of it's gone over
- 2:19Speaker 3: the decades. And that's what's so interesting about the rumors
- 2:21Speaker 3: that it has sustained for so long. And there's this
- 2:25Speaker 3: rumor when we were growing up about Richard Gere allegedly
- 2:29Speaker 3: ending up at Cedars-Sinai emergency room with.
- 2:32Speaker 4: A gerbil up his butt.
- 2:33Speaker 3: And it's like, what? Is that even a thing? And
- 2:35Speaker 3: Richard Gere, you know, this pretty woman, A-list actor. So
- 2:39Speaker 3: it had always sort of nagged at Allen, who's a
- 2:41Speaker 3: very esteemed journalist. He always says he does high and
- 2:44Speaker 3: low very well because he wrote for the New York
- 2:45Speaker 3: Times and the New York Post, et cetera, et cetera.
- 2:48Speaker 4: And he treated it like a true crime investigation.
- 2:52Speaker 3: And it is you know, it's really, we always say
- 2:55Speaker 3: the podcast is a love letter to journalism because he
- 2:58Speaker 3: really does an incredible detailed journalistic investigation. But, you know,
- 3:02Speaker 3: I think what we try to establish right off the
- 3:04Speaker 3: bat in episode one is that this is not silly.
- 3:06Speaker 3: This is really not about a gerbil. It's about the truth.
- 3:12Speaker 3: It's about why truth matters. It's about journalism. Like I said,
- 3:15Speaker 3: it's about how things went viral before there was ever
- 3:18Speaker 3: an internet.
- 3:19Speaker 2: That's what people don't understand of this generation. It wasn't
- 3:22Speaker 2: like you could Google it or anything. It was literally
- 3:26Speaker 2: like somebody physically told me this.
- 3:30Speaker 4: Yes.
- 3:30Speaker 2: That they had heard it and they knew a person
- 3:33Speaker 2: that worked in the ER, you know, and how, you
- 3:38Speaker 2: know what I mean? How does it go viral when
- 3:40Speaker 2: it's literally, you have to get out ye olde newspaper
- 3:43Speaker 2: and Or like People Magazine, you know?
- 3:45Speaker 3: Remember back in the day, there was that commercial with
- 3:47Speaker 3: Heather Locklear for Fabergé Organics and they told two friends
- 3:50Speaker 3: and they told two friends and so on and so on.
- 3:52Speaker 4: And the screen starts multiplying.
- 3:54Speaker 1: Yes.
- 3:54Speaker 3: That's literally what this rumor was. And it went coast
- 3:58Speaker 3: to coast. I grew up in New York. I was
- 4:00Speaker 3: positive that it was a New York emergency room. And
- 4:02Speaker 3: I knew, of course, the daughter or the son of
- 4:04Speaker 3: the doctor who did it. You know, we all thought
- 4:06Speaker 3: we were connected one or two degrees away, a separation
- 4:10Speaker 3: from this rumor.
- 4:11Speaker 4: And it's really... one of the best things I've ever.
- 4:15Speaker 3: Worked on because I feel like we tell not just
- 4:18Speaker 3: a really entertaining, compelling story. And if you love Hollywood,
- 4:21Speaker 3: we talk about the intersection of Hollywood and these rumors
- 4:25Speaker 3: and how sort of the Hollywood machine back in the day,
- 4:28Speaker 3: even like in the Rock Hudson era would cover up,
- 4:30Speaker 3: you know, homosexuality and how this rumor took root at
- 4:33Speaker 3: the beginning of the AIDS scandal when Rock Hudson died.
- 4:36Speaker 3: And really how the culture enabled it in different ways
- 4:41Speaker 3: over the years and how one little rumor that seems
- 4:45Speaker 3: innocuous or stupid or silly can ruin someone's life potentially.
- 4:49Speaker 4: And that's not just Richard Gere.
- 4:51Speaker 3: We cover several people who have had a horrible rumor
- 4:54Speaker 3: attached to them as well. And some are so silly,
- 4:57Speaker 3: you don't even talk. I mean, you think this one
- 4:59Speaker 3: would be so silly, you don't take it seriously. But
- 5:02Speaker 3: there are people that think this really happened. And the podcast,
- 5:05Speaker 3: of course, we end up finding out, did it really happen?
- 5:07Speaker 3: But I think we're trying to you know, we're trying
- 5:10Speaker 3: to do a lot more than that. Yeah.
- 5:12Speaker 2: Because you told a story about a whole, um, a
- 5:15Speaker 2: whole other person I'd never heard of that was like
- 5:17Speaker 2: a newscaster in Philly.
- 5:18Speaker 3: That's episode two.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:23Speaker 3: It was like, if you are from the Philly area, like,
- 5:25Speaker 3: of course, Kate Casey knew right away, anyone growing up
- 5:28Speaker 3: in the eighties in the Philly or the Philly area
- 5:31Speaker 3: knows the name, you know, when they, when you say gerbil,
- 5:33Speaker 3: they say Jerry Panicoli. And we call it the Great
- 5:37Speaker 3: Philadelphia Gerbil Panic of 1985. So it's so interesting that
- 5:41Speaker 3: we say it somehow jumped from Jerry to Richard Gere, right?
- 5:47Speaker 3: So it's just very Gere or Richard Gere, Jerry, like gerbil.
- 5:52Speaker 4: It's just weird.
- 5:53Speaker 3: Like there's all these And then of course, Richard Gere,
- 5:56Speaker 3: there's a rumor that Sly Stallone started the rumor. And
- 5:59Speaker 3: of course, Sly Stallone is Rocky from Philly. So it's like,
- 6:02Speaker 3: is that somehow connected that it went from Philly to
- 6:04Speaker 3: New York to LA? So it's very interesting, especially if
- 6:08Speaker 3: you love Hollywood. It is brought to you by The
- 6:10Speaker 3: Hollywood Reporter. We partnered with them. We really wanted to
- 6:13Speaker 3: make this like a legitimate, this is not just some
- 6:15Speaker 3: guy in his basement doing a weirdo podcast. This is
- 6:17Speaker 3: a real, real story. And we've been getting, it's doing
- 6:20Speaker 3: really well. We've been getting incredible feedback. Like all the
- 6:23Speaker 3: reviews have been incredible. So it's very validating really for
- 6:27Speaker 3: Alan more than anybody because, you know, the journalist's life
- 6:30Speaker 3: is a hard life and you don't always get the
- 6:32Speaker 3: accolades and you do a lot of stuff that people
- 6:34Speaker 3: never read or listen to or watch. So I think
- 6:37Speaker 3: that this has been an amazing moment and we're excited
- 6:39Speaker 3: to see kind of like where it goes from here
- 6:41Speaker 3: because there's some exciting things in the mix for the
- 6:43Speaker 3: future with it.
- 6:45Speaker 1: You're so busy.
- 6:47Speaker 4: I'm so busy.
- 6:48Speaker 1: So busy.
- 6:49Speaker 2: Let's talk, let's dive into our Bravo ladies really quick.
- 6:54Speaker 2: And then we will talk about your other show that
- 6:56Speaker 2: I'm halfway through. Okay.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Potomac.
- 7:01Speaker 2: So I just caught up on Potomac and I really
- 7:04Speaker 2: dropped off of Potomac last year. I just got so like,
- 7:06Speaker 2: I don't know some of these people and.
- 7:07Speaker 3: I don't care.
- 7:08Speaker 2: And I jumped back in for the reunion. And, and
- 7:14Speaker 2: so then I was like, okay, I'm going to do
- 7:15Speaker 2: it this year. I'm not going to, I'm not going to,
- 7:17Speaker 2: I'm just going to stick with it. I'm not going
- 7:19Speaker 2: to be a loser and jump off because I know
- 7:21Speaker 2: I missed something. So we've got Stacey and Timo.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Timo.
- 7:27Speaker 3: Timo.
- 7:28Speaker 1: I don't know. Getting back together.
- 7:29Speaker 2: Timo.
- 7:30Speaker 1: Getting reengaged.
- 7:32Speaker 4: I can't. First of all, I just want to say
- 7:34Speaker 4: one thing about last season.
- 7:36Speaker 3: Last season, the last few episodes with the trip, with
- 7:39Speaker 3: Angel's trip, is some of the best television ever ever.
- 7:43Speaker 3: I mean, honestly, it's worth going back. It's that good.
- 7:46Speaker 3: It is the funniest. Angel, I wish she had come back.
- 7:50Speaker 3: She was such a hot weirdo mess. I loved her.
- 7:53Speaker 1: It seemed like she was lying all the time about
- 7:55Speaker 1: where she was.
- 7:56Speaker 3: Yeah, I was like, what? We never really knew. But
- 7:58Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 7:58Speaker 4: There's something about her that just was so interesting.
- 8:01Speaker 3: I mean, speaking of lying. So yes, Stacey and Temu
- 8:04Speaker 3: or Temu or Thimo or Thimo. They're crazy. I love it.
- 8:08Speaker 4: I feel like I'm watching.
- 8:09Speaker 3: A really weird soap opera that they're like running lines for,
- 8:12Speaker 3: you know?
- 8:13Speaker 1: Yes, that's exactly it. How did you.
- 8:17Speaker 3: Get the dog here, Timo? That is so odd. Yes,
- 8:22Speaker 3: it is.
- 8:23Speaker 1: It is so weird.
- 8:27Speaker 2: And when they look at each other's eyes, it's like
- 8:30Speaker 2: they had just met.
- 8:31Speaker 4: They're just meeting for the first time.
- 8:33Speaker 3: It reminds me of Erica and Tom Girardi, but in
- 8:36Speaker 3: a more fun way. Remember every time they talked, it
- 8:38Speaker 3: was like, hello, nice to meet you, Mr. Girardi.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Would you like some coffee in your cup, Mr. Girardi?
- 8:44Speaker 1: I'll be in the parlor.
- 8:48Speaker 2: I assume they did get divorced and are getting remarried
- 8:52Speaker 2: because that's easy to look up in the court system.
- 8:54Speaker 1: But like, Why did they get divorced?
- 8:58Speaker 2: And then what happened to make them decide it was
- 9:00Speaker 2: a mistake and get back together? We don't know that.
- 9:03Speaker 2: We don't know why they got divorced other than he
- 9:05Speaker 2: said she's fiscally irresponsible.
- 9:07Speaker 4: It must have been something bad.
- 9:09Speaker 3: But by the way, the best thing that Karen Huger
- 9:12Speaker 3: ever said, and there's been a lot of best things,
- 9:13Speaker 3: is that Stacey's AI.
- 9:15Speaker 4: Because she really is. She's really AI.
- 9:18Speaker 1: She's the weirdest person.
- 9:20Speaker 3: Most compelling.
- 9:21Speaker 4: And she's also like stunningly gorgeous, which.
- 9:24Speaker 1: Just adds to the weirdness, right? Not a flaw.
- 9:26Speaker 4: That's why it is like a robot from head to toe.
- 9:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:31Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 9:33Speaker 1: I'll tell you at BravoCon at Amy Phillips' show, Deanna....
- 9:40Speaker 2: And Emily, Amy's other co-host, got up and did like
- 9:44Speaker 2: a whole parody on Stacey because they were like doing
- 9:48Speaker 2: a giveaway of something that Amy got for the show
- 9:51Speaker 2: to do like a raffle.
- 9:53Speaker 1: And it was some, you know, bath products.
- 9:55Speaker 2: But they stood up there and we're doing it as Stacy.
- 9:59Speaker 2: And they had like pinned Christmas trees to their shirts
- 10:01Speaker 2: and stuff.
- 10:02Speaker 1: It was so fucking funny. They were like, they were just,
- 10:08Speaker 1: they were just improvving it. They had decided to do
- 10:10Speaker 1: it that day. Cause it had kind of gone viral
- 10:12Speaker 1: that day about her old reels from QVC, you know,
- 10:16Speaker 1: you won't believe it, you know? Um, so she's perfect
- 10:20Speaker 1: for QVC actually.
- 10:21Speaker 3: Perfect. I mean, she really is. And just like, then
- 10:25Speaker 3: when they talk about Arabella, I get like a jump scare.
- 10:27Speaker 3: I'm like, Oh my God, these two procreated, like they are,
- 10:30Speaker 3: have an actual daughter. I think, I mean, if she's
- 10:33Speaker 3: not AI too.
- 10:34Speaker 2: There's a character in a book that I read and
- 10:36Speaker 2: it's the same woman, Gillian Flynn that wrote Gone Girl.
- 10:40Speaker 2: And I can't remember what book it was. It was
- 10:42Speaker 2: like dark things or something.
- 10:44Speaker 3: Sharp objects.
- 10:45Speaker 2: Maybe sharp objects, but the, the, There's a girl in
- 10:47Speaker 2: the book called Arabella and it's dark.
- 10:51Speaker 3: It's all dark.
- 10:52Speaker 1: And when I hear her say Arabella, I think about
- 10:55Speaker 1: the girl in that book.
- 10:56Speaker 3: It's like Carrie.
- 10:57Speaker 1: Yes, it's like Carrie. God bless. I'm sure Arabella is sweet.
- 11:02Speaker 1: I'm sure she's thrilled. She's thrilled her parents are back together. Yeah.
- 11:06Speaker 3: If they were ever apart, we'll never know.
- 11:07Speaker 1: We'll never know. But Timo, he's family like created Audi.
- 11:14Speaker 1: Did they?
- 11:14Speaker 3: Or does he just work there as a salesman?
- 11:17Speaker 1: No, no, no. His actual family of origin. Yes. Really?
- 11:22Speaker 3: Yes.
- 11:23Speaker 4: I literally thought he was just a salesperson.
- 11:27Speaker 1: No, no, no, no, no. His family of origin, his
- 11:29Speaker 1: parents or grandparents.
- 11:31Speaker 3: Timo Aldi? No.
- 11:33Speaker 2: Aldi means something else. So I love Stacey and I
- 11:37Speaker 2: love that the Grand Dame is back and being snarky.
- 11:40Speaker 3: By the way, her latest confessional look in that black,
- 11:43Speaker 3: she's never looked better.
- 11:44Speaker 1: Is this with the one with the short hair or
- 11:46Speaker 1: the long?
- 11:47Speaker 3: No, they're both great. The one with the short hair,
- 11:48Speaker 3: they're all great. The one with the hood or whatever. Yes.
- 11:51Speaker 3: That's amazing.
- 11:52Speaker 4: She's never looked better. I mean, I guess it's sobriety
- 11:54Speaker 4: looks good on her and whatever work she had done.
- 11:56Speaker 2: I think it's, she had the work done like the
- 11:58Speaker 2: week before she went to prison and she gave it
- 12:01Speaker 2: one year to settle.
- 12:02Speaker 4: Oh, possible.
- 12:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 12:04Speaker 1: No, no, not possible. I'm telling you what happened.
- 12:06Speaker 3: Happened.
- 12:07Speaker 4: You heard it through the DC Grapevine, did you?
- 12:09Speaker 1: I did not. I studied the tapes like I do.
- 12:13Speaker 2: When she went in, she had the nose that points down.
- 12:17Speaker 2: And when she came out and she was in the
- 12:19Speaker 2: car waving to the people, the nose was completely different.
- 12:23Speaker 3: Right.
- 12:23Speaker 4: And she's not getting work done in prison as far
- 12:24Speaker 4: as we know.
- 12:25Speaker 1: Not a lot. I mean, that would be.
- 12:27Speaker 3: You'd have to be really well-connected.
- 12:29Speaker 1: Yeah, you'd have to really know yourself.
- 12:31Speaker 3: Okay, go Karen.
- 12:31Speaker 4: Listen, she was my favorite before all this happened.
- 12:35Speaker 3: Then I really turned on her because when I heard
- 12:37Speaker 3: four times, I thought, girl, I'm sorry, you're not going
- 12:40Speaker 3: to get forgiveness from me.
- 12:41Speaker 4: But she did her time. She's back.
- 12:44Speaker 3: It feels like she's doing the work, not totally admitting
- 12:47Speaker 3: that she's doing the work. She's got a long way
- 12:49Speaker 3: to go, but it does appear she's sober. It does
- 12:53Speaker 3: appear that she's, I like that she hasn't lost her edge. And,
- 12:57Speaker 3: you know, I'm here for it. What can I say?
- 12:59Speaker 2: Yeah, I think I don't like some of the language
- 13:02Speaker 2: she uses around sobriety, like where she's just like, drinking
- 13:05Speaker 2: was never my problem. I was like, lady, you had
- 13:07Speaker 2: five DUIs.
- 13:08Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 13:08Speaker 1: Drinking was the problem.
- 13:10Speaker 3: Well, and remember that we saw that crazy scene, I
- 13:12Speaker 3: can't remember what season, but where they were doing shots
- 13:15Speaker 3: and she was acting like a different person. And we
- 13:17Speaker 3: were like, oh my God, we've never seen her like
- 13:19Speaker 3: this before.
- 13:19Speaker 1: They were in somebody's basement bar. Yes, exactly.
- 13:22Speaker 4: Monique was there. And it was like, oh. And they
- 13:25Speaker 4: all didn't seem phased by it.
- 13:27Speaker 3: So it was like, oh, this is, Karen's actually behaving
- 13:29Speaker 3: for the cameras, but this is what she's doing behind
- 13:31Speaker 3: the scenes.
- 13:31Speaker 4: It was kind of that vibe.
- 13:33Speaker 1: They were all like, she calls us in the middle
- 13:34Speaker 1: of the night. Yeah.
- 13:35Speaker 3: And she's at the bar, fish house or whatever. What's
- 13:38Speaker 3: that famous fish restaurant that she's at every day? The
- 13:42Speaker 3: bartender says she's at the counter drinking.
- 13:44Speaker 1: I can't remember what it was.
- 13:45Speaker 3: Oh my God.
- 13:46Speaker 1: I know what you're talking about.
- 13:47Speaker 3: Kind of drive me nuts.
- 13:48Speaker 4: It's like in the airports.
- 13:49Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 13:50Speaker 1: Boneyard.
- 13:51Speaker 4: Boneyard? No, not Boneyard.
- 13:52Speaker 3: Bonefish?
- 13:53Speaker 1: Bonefish girl?
- 13:54Speaker 4: Something like that.
- 13:56Speaker 2: So, yeah, I don't like how she's like drinking. And
- 13:59Speaker 2: it's fine if she felt like her problem was more
- 14:01Speaker 2: pill related. But don't just on camera say drinking was
- 14:04Speaker 2: never my problem when you went to jail literally for DUI.
- 14:07Speaker 1: You know?
- 14:08Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 14:08Speaker 4: And you can't drink.
- 14:09Speaker 3: It's not like you can reintroduce drinking back into your life,
- 14:12Speaker 3: but not your medication.
- 14:13Speaker 4: Like this is a problem.
- 14:14Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 14:15Speaker 1: I don't.
- 14:16Speaker 2: So I'm, I'm, you know, TBD on Karen. I think
- 14:20Speaker 2: I'm very glad Robin is back.
- 14:22Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 14:23Speaker 1: I love Robin. Robert.
- 14:25Speaker 2: I don't understand that, but she's just doing it to
- 14:29Speaker 2: be mean, I guess, but I love Robin. We haven't
- 14:31Speaker 2: had a hide or hair or mention of Juan yet.
- 14:35Speaker 3: Juan Dixon would be so mad to hear that. I cannot.
- 14:38Speaker 4: Where is hashtag?
- 14:39Speaker 3: Where's Juan?
- 14:40Speaker 1: Where's Juan? Just, just mention him. Like he's at home
- 14:43Speaker 1: with the kids. He's a basketball practice.
- 14:45Speaker 3: We know where Juan is.
- 14:46Speaker 1: I don't. He's in somebody else's bed, but, but good
- 14:50Speaker 1: for Robin. I'm glad she got her job back.
- 14:52Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 14:53Speaker 4: And you, the money she needed it.
- 14:57Speaker 2: Y'all I've been traveling like crazy lately. So I have
- 15:00Speaker 2: to be really judicious with what is in my bag.
- 15:03Speaker 2: I don't have all the space in the world and
- 15:05Speaker 2: I got to keep it lean and mean. So here's
- 15:07Speaker 2: what I have in my purse. Of course, I've got
- 15:09Speaker 2: my readers and my wallet and my.
- 15:11Speaker 1: Keys, duh.

- 15:15Speaker 2: because I can touch up my eyes easily and it
- 15:17Speaker 2: has a mirror which comes in super handy all day long.

- 15:46Speaker 2: your lips instead of drying them out, which is key
- 15:48Speaker 2: for us ladies of a certain age. I can't ever
- 15:51Speaker 2: talk about Thrive without talking about their award-winning tubing liquid
- 15:55Speaker 2: lash extensions mascara. It has over 40,000 five-star reviews. I
- 16:00Speaker 2: am one of them. It is the only mascara I wear, period.
- 16:03Speaker 2: It's fantastic. When I was getting my makeup done for
- 16:06Speaker 2: our event in New York, I insisted to the makeup
- 16:09Speaker 2: lady that I use my own Thrive mascara because I
- 16:12Speaker 2: can be totally sure it's going to look perfect every time.
- 16:16Speaker 2: And did you know for that every product purchased, Thrive

- 16:58Speaker 1: let's talk about being in the mood.
- 17:01Speaker 2: I mean, it's pretty hard to feel frisky when your
- 17:03Speaker 2: brain has 40 tabs open and four email boxes that
- 17:06Speaker 2: you're checking.
- 17:07Speaker 1: Am I right?
- 17:08Speaker 2: Well, luckily for us, Dame made something exactly for that.
- 17:11Speaker 2: You know, low desire isn't usually a you problem. It's
- 17:14Speaker 2: usually a stress problem. And that is the idea behind
- 17:18Speaker 2: Dame's desire gummies. The whole routine with the gummies is this.
- 17:22Speaker 2: You take three strawberry mango gummies a day. And of
- 17:25Speaker 2: all the things we do for ourselves, this is the
- 17:28Speaker 2: easiest self-care habit you can pick up. And here's the
- 17:31Speaker 2: science-y part, okay? Dame didn't just cite ingredient research. They
- 17:35Speaker 2: studied the actual gummy on real women, and 85% reported
- 17:40Speaker 2: increased desire.
- 17:42Speaker 1: In four weeks.
- 17:43Speaker 2: Dame did a four-week observational study run by a third-party
- 17:46Speaker 2: lab with 53 women aged 24 to 52 who reported
- 17:50Speaker 2: the low desire and stressful lifestyles. Now, the study participants
- 17:54Speaker 2: that reported improvement said they had increased sexual desire by 85%,
- 17:58Speaker 2: reduced stress and anxiety by 87%, and improved mood by 93%.
- 18:04Speaker 2: My gosh, y'all, if I could improve my mood by 93%,
- 18:08Speaker 2: you know, everybody in this house wins. And because it's
- 18:11Speaker 2: a daily ritual, Dame makes it easy. You just subscribe
- 18:15Speaker 2: and you'll save 15% on every order. It's delivered every
- 18:19Speaker 2: 20 days and my code stacks on top of that code.
- 18:22Speaker 2: So you really do need to subscribe because it's a
- 18:24Speaker 2: daily supplement and you definitely don't want to run out.
- 18:27Speaker 2: So if you want to see for yourself and get
- 18:29Speaker 2: 15% off these gummies, go to dame.com and use code pinkshade. Remember,
- 18:35Speaker 2: you can subscribe with the code pinkshade and the discounts
- 18:38Speaker 2: will stack. 15% off the code plus 15% off every
- 18:43Speaker 2: subscription order. That's dame.com. Use code pink shade for 15%
- 18:48Speaker 2: off the desire gummies. I like the new girl, the
- 18:53Speaker 2: little shorty basketball, basketball wife.
- 18:56Speaker 1: Yeah. I enjoy her.
- 18:57Speaker 3: That husband is so tall.
- 19:00Speaker 1: So tall. Did she say six, seven or seven feet?
- 19:04Speaker 4: No, I think seven one or something. She's like five one.
- 19:07Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, I like– Two feet taller.
- 19:10Speaker 2: I think they have legitimate careers and legitimate wealth.
- 19:14Speaker 3: Yes.
- 19:15Speaker 2: It seems she's a legitimate wedding planner and he is
- 19:18Speaker 2: a legitimate basketball coach.
- 19:20Speaker 4: And perhaps going to be a legitimate preacher soon, I guess.
- 19:24Speaker 2: Yeah, I didn't get it, but that's neither here nor there.
- 19:27Speaker 2: But we go every year to a Wizards game, at
- 19:30Speaker 2: least one. My husband goes to several, but I'll be looking.
- 19:35Speaker 3: All eyes on them.
- 19:37Speaker 1: I'll be looking. I'll be looking.
- 19:39Speaker 2: Just like I'm always doing when I'm in the airport
- 19:41Speaker 2: and stuff. I'm always just looking around.
- 19:43Speaker 1: Scanning.
- 19:44Speaker 2: You're just scanning to see who's about. Who else on Potomac?
- 19:48Speaker 2: Ashley hasn't had much going on. I'm very surprised she's
- 19:51Speaker 2: still with that guy.
- 19:53Speaker 4: It's stupid. But here's the thing about Ashley.
- 19:55Speaker 3: She drives me insane because she's so always producing the mess.
- 20:03Speaker 3: She's just like, well, I felt like I had to
- 20:05Speaker 3: say something like, Ashley, stop.
- 20:07Speaker 4: We know what you're doing.
- 20:08Speaker 3: Knock it off. There's something about her that just irks
- 20:11Speaker 3: the hell out of me from day one. Like, I'm
- 20:13Speaker 3: not mad she's on the show, but she just always
- 20:15Speaker 3: drives me nuts.
- 20:17Speaker 4: And I love Giselle.
- 20:18Speaker 3: Like, I love Giselle because Giselle is, like, slightly sociopathic. Yeah.
- 20:22Speaker 3: She's steady.
- 20:23Speaker 1: She's a steady person.
- 20:24Speaker 3: Yeah, like, nothing's going to faze Giselle. You can't hurt
- 20:26Speaker 3: her feelings. No, no.
- 20:28Speaker 4: That's where she ever has ever had actual feelings.
- 20:30Speaker 1: Mm-hmm.
- 20:31Speaker 3: You know, I know she loves her daughters, but other
- 20:33Speaker 3: than that, I just think it's like, oh, Robin's turning
- 20:36Speaker 3: on me?
- 20:36Speaker 1: Okay.
- 20:37Speaker 3: Like, she's just.
- 20:38Speaker 4: She's just going with it.
- 20:40Speaker 1: Yes, I completely agree with that.
- 20:42Speaker 2: I have a good friend who plays golf with Michael
- 20:45Speaker 2: Darby regularly.
- 20:47Speaker 3: Oh, I'm so sorry. Condolences.
- 20:49Speaker 1: And, you know, we say to this guy, like, you understand,
- 20:53Speaker 1: he's a horrible, misogynistic, you know, grabby pig.
- 20:58Speaker 4: One of the worst. I mean, he's in the top
- 21:00Speaker 4: three of worst guys ever on Bravo, right?
- 21:02Speaker 1: Yeah. And my friend's like, I'm literally trying to just
- 21:05Speaker 1: sell him insurance.
- 21:06Speaker 3: Okay.
- 21:07Speaker 1: Give me a fucking break. I got to play golf
- 21:09Speaker 1: with the guy, you know?
- 21:09Speaker 3: I had to listen to that disgusting man.
- 21:12Speaker 4: You know, he's just mansplaining everything.
- 21:16Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 21:16Speaker 1: Well, maybe not to other men. Maybe he doesn't do that.
- 21:19Speaker 4: No, he's just grabbing their asses.
- 21:20Speaker 1: He's just like, oh, lean over and get your ball.
- 21:23Speaker 4: I mean.
- 21:26Speaker 1: Okay. So Real Housewives of.
- 21:27Speaker 2: New York, the new iteration, iteration number three.
- 21:31Speaker 1: I think it works. I'm for it.
- 21:33Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 21:33Speaker 4: Me too. I think they finally found it. Um, I it's,
- 21:38Speaker 4: it's weird.
- 21:38Speaker 3: Like it's, it's definitely like, I feel like I'm on
- 21:41Speaker 3: drugs when I'm watching it a little bit.
- 21:43Speaker 4: Do you know what I mean?
- 21:43Speaker 3: It feels like I'm still getting my sea legs on
- 21:47Speaker 3: because I like, I know I w I watched the
- 21:49Speaker 3: reboot number two. So it's like, I know that I
- 21:52Speaker 3: know Jessel, Aaron and size, they're familiar.
- 21:55Speaker 4: And then I'm getting used to these new girls. And
- 21:56Speaker 4: then it's Carol who's like 3.0.
- 21:58Speaker 3: And So it's a little disorienting, but they're putting it
- 22:03Speaker 3: all out.
- 22:04Speaker 4: Like they're getting to Salt Lake level of like, let's
- 22:07Speaker 4: just do it.
- 22:07Speaker 3: Let's just do this.
- 22:09Speaker 2: I thought it was so funny. So you guys, we
- 22:11Speaker 2: are recording this on Tuesday. So if Salt Lake has
- 22:14Speaker 2: come out, New York has come out, and we didn't
- 22:16Speaker 2: get to see it, this is just what we're recording
- 22:19Speaker 2: on Tuesday for Thursday. But I will say the last
- 22:21Speaker 2: episode when Carol starts to tell the story about the
- 22:24Speaker 2: cursed Cartier watch– I was so in.
- 22:28Speaker 4: You're like, I need a podcast.
- 22:30Speaker 1: I need a podcast about this watch. I need to
- 22:32Speaker 1: know everything. But the way that they're like, land the plane.
- 22:34Speaker 1: Land the plane. That was hilarious.
- 22:36Speaker 3: God, her story is awful. But by the way, I
- 22:39Speaker 3: feel like she was trying to pitch her next book
- 22:41Speaker 3: or something. She's like, I might as well do it
- 22:42Speaker 3: on camera. That's what I feel like with Carol, that
- 22:45Speaker 3: she came on this show to try to exonerate herself.
- 22:48Speaker 3: about the Epstein files and I feel like it backfired.
- 22:51Speaker 3: That's just my opinion.
- 22:53Speaker 1: Oh, you do?
- 22:53Speaker 3: I do. Why?
- 22:54Speaker 1: Because you think people have more questions?
- 22:55Speaker 3: Have you seen the threads? Are you on threads?
- 22:58Speaker 1: I am. Okay. I'm just not on it on it,
- 23:00Speaker 1: but I'm on it.
- 23:01Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. I'm on it on it because I'm not
- 23:02Speaker 3: on Twitter. I'm not on Facebook. So I'm just really
- 23:05Speaker 3: threads is where the action is for me. Well, I'm
- 23:08Speaker 3: on Instagram, obviously. But anyway, people are not happy with Carol.
- 23:11Speaker 3: I mean, I feel like she couldn't have given a
- 23:15Speaker 3: worse explanation. She seemed so nervous and she seemed like
- 23:19Speaker 3: she was lying. I'm not saying that Carol was involved
- 23:21Speaker 3: in fucking Jeffrey Epstein's property. Of course not.
- 23:24Speaker 1: Of course not.
- 23:24Speaker 3: Not at all. But I think she was way better
- 23:26Speaker 3: friends with Ghislaine or whatever the hell her name is
- 23:29Speaker 3: than she's admitting. Her stories are not adding up in
- 23:32Speaker 3: terms of what she said on the show and what
- 23:33Speaker 3: she said on her sub stack.
- 23:35Speaker 4: And I just don't, I just get a creepy feeling
- 23:39Speaker 4: from her.
- 23:39Speaker 3: And it's, again, I'm not saying she's involved in any
- 23:42Speaker 3: pedophile rings or anything horrible like that. I'm just saying
- 23:45Speaker 3: that I think Carol liked to be close to power
- 23:49Speaker 3: and money. I don't know if she still does. Maybe
- 23:51Speaker 3: she regrets that now. And I think that she was
- 23:54Speaker 3: in those circles. And I know she met Jeffrey Epstein.
- 23:56Speaker 4: I'm sorry.
- 23:57Speaker 3: Come on.
- 23:57Speaker 4: Of course she met him. Now, was she friends with him?
- 24:01Speaker 4: Probably not. But you know what I'm saying.
- 24:03Speaker 2: I think if she said she never met him, then
- 24:05Speaker 2: she never met him. Because I think she knows it's
- 24:07Speaker 2: provable that somebody could come up with it and say, yeah,
- 24:12Speaker 2: you did. And here's here's him at a party, here's
- 24:14Speaker 2: you at a party.
- 24:14Speaker 3: Well, there is. There's that picture, but that's also, you
- 24:17Speaker 3: can't prove it from a picture because they're not arm
- 24:20Speaker 3: and arm. They're like two people apart. So how many
- 24:22Speaker 3: parties have you been to with someone that you've never met?
- 24:24Speaker 3: That's totally plausible. I just don't, I don't know. I don't,
- 24:28Speaker 3: I've always, okay. This is a deep cut, but when she,
- 24:33Speaker 3: remember Ghostwriter Girl? Yeah.
- 24:35Speaker 1: Okay.
- 24:36Speaker 3: I knew from an extremely reliable source that she had
- 24:39Speaker 3: a ghostwriter for that book.
- 24:41Speaker 1: Is Brian Moylan your source?
- 24:43Speaker 4: No, no, but I know he said it also.
- 24:46Speaker 3: No, this was someone like literally back when that, when
- 24:49Speaker 3: it was airing, that was like, I know for, I
- 24:52Speaker 3: can't get into it. Anyway, so I've always known that
- 24:55Speaker 3: Carol was loose with Lucy Goosey with the truth since
- 24:58Speaker 3: she was on originally. And I, you know, and then like,
- 25:03Speaker 3: I just, thought it was really weird the way she
- 25:06Speaker 3: was like bullying Jules about the eating disorder when I
- 25:08Speaker 3: think Carol has exhibited some eating disorder type behavior. Like
- 25:12Speaker 3: there's just something to me that she tries to play
- 25:15Speaker 3: Miss Cool Girl, laid back, everything's fine.
- 25:17Speaker 4: And I just not buying what she's selling.
- 25:19Speaker 3: It doesn't mean I don't think she's good for the show,
- 25:21Speaker 3: but I just, I'm not all in on Carol. I
- 25:23Speaker 3: used to be like before Ghostwriter Girl, I found out
- 25:27Speaker 3: the truth and then I've never looked at her the
- 25:28Speaker 3: same sense. So, but listen, like when it came to Bethany,
- 25:31Speaker 3: obviously we're all like, oh, Bethany's awful.
- 25:34Speaker 1: Right.
- 25:34Speaker 2: Well, you know, I still find Bethany endlessly entertaining. Now,
- 25:40Speaker 2: whether it's for the good or the bad or like
- 25:42Speaker 2: I'm laughing at her or with her, I still am like.
- 25:44Speaker 1: Okay, I'll watch it.
- 25:45Speaker 3: It's one of those people, of course.
- 25:46Speaker 1: It's the Bethany show. I'll watch it.
- 25:49Speaker 2: Well, I really loved the bitchiness about this island sucks
- 25:54Speaker 2: and seven people own it.
- 25:56Speaker 1: Like, gross.
- 25:57Speaker 3: Gross.
- 25:58Speaker 1: What a loser. What a loser. Seven people own this island?
- 26:03Speaker 3: Ew.
- 26:03Speaker 2: I normally go to islands where only one person owns it.
- 26:06Speaker 2: Get the fuck out of here. And Daisy being like,
- 26:09Speaker 2: Martha would think this was a dump. I really want
- 26:12Speaker 2: Martha to come out and be like, I'd like to
- 26:14Speaker 2: be invited and I could judge for myself. I'm sure
- 26:16Speaker 2: Martha Stewart would not think it's a dump.
- 26:18Speaker 3: Well, remember she FaceTimed her last week or the week
- 26:21Speaker 3: before and she's like, check it out.
- 26:22Speaker 4: She's like, oh, it looks beautiful. So yeah, even Martha
- 26:25Speaker 4: was like, wow, it looks really nice.
- 26:27Speaker 3: I think she did say like, why wasn't I invited? Now,
- 26:30Speaker 3: Daisy is, I think she's coming in too hot, but
- 26:33Speaker 3: I'm not mad at it because I think she's good
- 26:35Speaker 3: for the show.
- 26:36Speaker 1: You're right. She's coming in too hot. That's what it is.
- 26:39Speaker 2: And on Watch What Happens Live, Andy's like, say five
- 26:42Speaker 2: nice things about Mosquito Island. And she was like, I
- 26:45Speaker 2: lost weight while I was there because the food was
- 26:47Speaker 2: from Costco.
- 26:48Speaker 1: I was like, Oh my God.
- 26:51Speaker 3: The food did look bad. I'm not going to lie.
- 26:54Speaker 1: It didn't look great.
- 26:55Speaker 3: It did look like it was supermarket food. And listen,
- 26:58Speaker 3: the food on a trip is the most important thing
- 27:00Speaker 3: to me. So I'll give her some grace there. But yeah,
- 27:03Speaker 3: it's super rude. And it's just a bad look with
- 27:05Speaker 3: your popcorn ceilings in your tiny little apartment, sweetie.
- 27:08Speaker 4: I don't care how cheap it is.
- 27:09Speaker 3: You have... you know, you're close to money and power,
- 27:14Speaker 3: but you are not rich and powerful.
- 27:17Speaker 4: So take it easy. Come down a notch. The woman's
- 27:19Speaker 4: married to a billionaire, like step back.
- 27:22Speaker 1: I mean, that girl's living, that girl's living the life.
- 27:25Speaker 4: With that body.
- 27:27Speaker 1: With that body. And then she's just like, yeah, I
- 27:29Speaker 1: do run the runway. Who gives a fuck?
- 27:31Speaker 3: You know, I really like, totally.
- 27:34Speaker 4: I really like her.
- 27:35Speaker 3: I hope that she doesn't disappoint us because I'm totally
- 27:38Speaker 3: into her.
- 27:38Speaker 2: Yeah, I like how she got drunk at her own
- 27:40Speaker 2: wedding at the Egyptian pyramids and asked for Taco Bell.
- 27:43Speaker 1: I was like, that's relatable.
- 27:44Speaker 3: No, totally.
- 27:45Speaker 4: And she doesn't seem like she's saying it as like
- 27:47Speaker 4: a shtick.
- 27:48Speaker 3: You know what I mean? Like, try to be relatable
- 27:50Speaker 3: like Lisa Barlow. Right, right, right. Get it twisted.
- 27:53Speaker 1: Better go to Wendy's.
- 27:57Speaker 2: Okay, so who else can we talk about on that show? Psy,
- 28:00Speaker 2: I'm not interested in her divorce yet. I am interested
- 28:02Speaker 2: that Jenna Lyons made a cameo via the telephone game.
- 28:06Speaker 1: I enjoyed that.
- 28:08Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 28:08Speaker 4: She's still in the mix.
- 28:10Speaker 1: I just like looking at Erin. I like to look
- 28:12Speaker 1: at her. I like to look at her outfits.
- 28:14Speaker 3: That skin.
- 28:16Speaker 4: How does she have four kids and looks like that?
- 28:19Speaker 3: She's stunning. Her outfits are amazing. Her skin is incredible.
- 28:23Speaker 3: Her spray tan is too dark. Okay.
- 28:25Speaker 1: She reminds me of.
- 28:33Speaker 4: Like the queen bee in high school.
- 28:34Speaker 3: Oh yeah.
- 28:35Speaker 4: Just a total gossip bitch.
- 28:37Speaker 3: Yep.
- 28:38Speaker 1: But would not have liked me whatsoever.
- 28:40Speaker 3: Right.
- 28:40Speaker 1: Like she would have been second tier for sure.
- 28:42Speaker 3: She was just like, she's totally just literally her life.
- 28:47Speaker 4: Someone said it. I think Cy, like her life is
- 28:49Speaker 4: just gossiping. And like, okay.
- 28:51Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 28:52Speaker 4: That's why she's on housewives.
- 28:53Speaker 3: That's why she's on housewives.
- 28:55Speaker 1: She's got four kids. I don't think her life is
- 28:57Speaker 1: just gossiping.
- 28:57Speaker 3: She is.
- 28:58Speaker 1: It is.
- 28:59Speaker 4: It is. It is.
- 29:00Speaker 3: I guarantee she's on that phone all day gossiping. But
- 29:02Speaker 3: the thing is, is that what's so funny about her,
- 29:04Speaker 3: she'd be like, I have never, ever said anything like that.
- 29:09Speaker 4: And then you go to her confessional. She's like, yeah,
- 29:11Speaker 4: we all talk shit.
- 29:12Speaker 1: So what we do.
- 29:13Speaker 3: Okay. Like exactly.
- 29:15Speaker 4: Just admit it, honey.
- 29:17Speaker 2: Um, Jessel, I think they're trying to take her down
- 29:21Speaker 2: a peg. I don't like that they're trying to do
- 29:23Speaker 2: it through Povit.
- 29:25Speaker 1: You know what I think is so interesting about Jessel
- 29:27Speaker 1: and her outfits and her posh accent and this and
- 29:30Speaker 1: that and the other has this huge tattoo across the
- 29:33Speaker 1: top of her back.
- 29:34Speaker 4: I didn't see. I didn't notice that.
- 29:36Speaker 2: Now, I have– listen, I've got tattoos. I'm a tattooed
- 29:39Speaker 2: girl myself. But I think when you're so hoity-toity about
- 29:44Speaker 2: my outfit is ball man and da-da-da-da. And how dare you?
- 29:47Speaker 2: It's head to toe Laurent. And then you've got a
- 29:50Speaker 2: giant tattoo, like shoulder blade to shoulder blade across your back.
- 29:54Speaker 2: And it's like, it looks like Arabic writing.
- 29:57Speaker 1: Perhaps.
- 29:58Speaker 3: Oh yeah.
- 29:59Speaker 1: But it's definitely something she did when she was 20.
- 30:01Speaker 1: I was going to.
- 30:02Speaker 3: Say, I feel like we've heard about her like wild
- 30:04Speaker 3: child past.
- 30:05Speaker 4: But maybe I'm making that up.
- 30:07Speaker 3: Uh, she's also stunning and she is often has good style,
- 30:11Speaker 3: but often too much. I don't, I'm not a designer.
- 30:15Speaker 3: I'm not a designer girl. Like I don't care how
- 30:17Speaker 3: much money you have. I think it's so cheesy, but, um,
- 30:20Speaker 3: But she's great for the show too. Listen, I think
- 30:22Speaker 3: they've got a cast. Haley is bizarro.
- 30:24Speaker 1: Bizarro. You're growing on me. Growing on me.
- 30:27Speaker 4: I mean, I wouldn't even say, growing on something.
- 30:32Speaker 3: Like algae.
- 30:33Speaker 1: I don't even know.
- 30:34Speaker 3: But like, yeah, great for the show. She's like, we
- 30:36Speaker 3: need bizarro people. And yeah, I'm into it. I think
- 30:41Speaker 3: it's great. And they're all trying to make a great show.
- 30:42Speaker 3: And I always appreciate that effort.
- 30:44Speaker 1: They're like, this is our last chance.
- 30:45Speaker 4: Yeah, like this is it. Balls to the walls, girl.
- 30:47Speaker 4: Let's ruin all our friendships.
- 30:49Speaker 1: Yeah. Who gives a fuck?
- 30:52Speaker 2: Now, Salt Lake, you know, it's kind of the same old,
- 30:56Speaker 2: same old. You don't know who's fighting and you can't
- 30:58Speaker 2: remember why.
- 30:59Speaker 1: And don't care.
- 31:00Speaker 4: Don't need to know.
- 31:00Speaker 1: It all works.
- 31:02Speaker 4: I just sit there like, okay.
- 31:03Speaker 1: Me too.
- 31:04Speaker 2: When I tell you, with Lisa Barlow, with the lips,
- 31:08Speaker 2: when that was happening, the lining of.
- 31:12Speaker 1: The lips with the pencil.
- 31:14Speaker 3: I wish I had the pencil.
- 31:15Speaker 1: Over and over and over.
- 31:17Speaker 3: It's more like this. It's my literal fence.
- 31:23Speaker 4: She doesn't come out with a lip liner tomorrow.
- 31:25Speaker 3: I'll be so disappointed.
- 31:26Speaker 1: The whole, the whole entire thing. I was like, okay.
- 31:29Speaker 2: When she was doing it. And finally when Heather's like,
- 31:31Speaker 2: what the fuck are you doing?
- 31:33Speaker 4: But you know what?
- 31:34Speaker 3: Do you agree with me? I don't think that it
- 31:36Speaker 3: was stick. Like, I think she's just like doing it. Like,
- 31:40Speaker 3: I don't think she's doing it as like a wink, wink.
- 31:43Speaker 3: Like I'm going to have my thing. I think she's
- 31:45Speaker 3: just like doing it because she's Lisa Barlow.
- 31:48Speaker 2: I think she was doing it to make sure the
- 31:50Speaker 2: camera caught it. So that's why she did it for
- 31:51Speaker 2: so long. I think she's like, this scene is going
- 31:54Speaker 2: to be on the show because they're fighting.
- 31:57Speaker 3: We need continuity through the fight.
- 31:58Speaker 4: So I just keep doing it.
- 32:00Speaker 2: No, I think she's like, I'm going to do it
- 32:01Speaker 2: the whole time in case parts of it get cut out.
- 32:04Speaker 1: For sure they.
- 32:04Speaker 2: Can't cut out the lip lining because I'm coming out
- 32:07Speaker 2: with a lip liner.
- 32:08Speaker 3: I love it.
- 32:09Speaker 4: I can't wait to see what happens.
- 32:11Speaker 3: You guys, what happened?
- 32:14Speaker 1: She's just going to come out with a lip liner.
- 32:16Speaker 4: I love her. She and Meredith can do nowhere along.
- 32:19Speaker 3: Okay.
- 32:19Speaker 1: Meredith drives me fucking crazy. I'm sorry.
- 32:22Speaker 4: Excuse me. Excuse me. What are you saying, Mary Pang?
- 32:25Speaker 2: I'm saying that Meredith drives me insane.
- 32:29Speaker 1: I can do without her.
- 32:30Speaker 4: That's a new problem.
- 32:32Speaker 1: I can do without her.
- 32:33Speaker 3: No. How dare you?
- 32:35Speaker 4: I love the Marks family, the family opposers.
- 32:38Speaker 3: I love them.
- 32:39Speaker 1: It is a family of opposers. It totally is.
- 32:41Speaker 3: I'm obsessed. I'm obsessed. If Meredith, I love that they
- 32:44Speaker 3: keep trying to push her out. She's like, I'm here
- 32:46Speaker 3: to stay.
- 32:47Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 32:48Speaker 3: That was a little more Erica Jane. But she's the best.
- 32:51Speaker 3: Lisa Barlow is the best. They, to me, I just,
- 32:54Speaker 3: they should do, remember the Simple Life show that Sonia
- 32:58Speaker 3: Rita and Luann did? Crappy Life.
- 33:00Speaker 1: Yeah, Crappy Life.
- 33:01Speaker 3: We watched every episode.
- 33:02Speaker 4: It was so funny.
- 33:03Speaker 3: Yeah. That with Lisa and Meredith would be so funny.
- 33:08Speaker 1: That's a good idea that you should pitch.
- 33:10Speaker 3: Free idea.
- 33:11Speaker 4: Free idea for Jeff Jenkins.
- 33:13Speaker 2: Um, that's a really good, that's a really good idea.
- 33:16Speaker 2: I had a really good idea the other day for, um,
- 33:20Speaker 2: my friend, Matt Sharp, who, well, he's still, uh, he
- 33:27Speaker 2: will not. Give me an interview even though I've asked
- 33:29Speaker 2: him face-to-face and mentioned your name.
- 33:31Speaker 1: It's insane. And you've emailed on my behalf. He still
- 33:33Speaker 1: won't do it.
- 33:34Speaker 3: And he said yes.
- 33:35Speaker 1: Oh, and he said yes. He said yes to my face.
- 33:37Speaker 3: Absolutely.
- 33:38Speaker 1: Three times to my face. Three times.
- 33:40Speaker 4: Maybe he's scared of your journalistic skills.
- 33:42Speaker 1: No, he's not.
- 33:42Speaker 2: I'm so softball with the TLC people because I love
- 33:45Speaker 2: TLC and I got to like stay in.
- 33:47Speaker 3: Their good graces.
- 33:47Speaker 4: But you're like the biggest fan.
- 33:49Speaker 3: I don't get it.
- 33:49Speaker 4: It makes no sense.
- 33:50Speaker 1: Well, I don't– anyway.
- 33:52Speaker 2: I had a great idea for a Matt Sharp show
- 33:55Speaker 2: and I'm just like, you're welcome, Matt Sharp.
- 33:57Speaker 1: And it is to do, instead of the great British bake-off,
- 34:01Speaker 1: to do the great prison bake-off. And it's all these
- 34:04Speaker 1: people that come out of Love After Lockup that have
- 34:07Speaker 1: all these amazing recipes that they learned from just what
- 34:09Speaker 1: they have in prison. That is a great idea.
- 34:12Speaker 2: And just to give them what they got in prison,
- 34:15Speaker 2: like here's your ramen, here's your Jolly Ranchers, here's your
- 34:17Speaker 2: Here's your honey buns. Here's your summer sausage. We hear,
- 34:20Speaker 2: and they give them literally like the top of a
- 34:24Speaker 2: bunk with the paint scraped off, rolls of toilet paper
- 34:27Speaker 2: to light it. They have to cook it like they
- 34:29Speaker 2: did in prison.
- 34:30Speaker 3: Wait, I am cracking up because the last like formal
- 34:33Speaker 3: job that I had in an office, I worked with
- 34:35Speaker 3: someone in development who pitched me a show, a cooking
- 34:38Speaker 3: show in prison. And I remember being like, why the
- 34:42Speaker 3: hell does anyone want to watch a pitching show in prison?
- 34:45Speaker 3: But You are saying take your prison skills and bring
- 34:48Speaker 3: it on the outside. Yeah.
- 34:50Speaker 2: So it's set up like the Great British Bake Off,
- 34:52Speaker 2: but instead of like those gorgeous, colorful tables and everything
- 34:58Speaker 2: looks so beautiful, it's all gray.
- 35:00Speaker 1: Right.
- 35:01Speaker 3: People want to watch food shows for unappealing gray prison backgrounds.
- 35:07Speaker 1: But you don't even understand the things that these people
- 35:09Speaker 1: can make with what they're given.
- 35:10Speaker 3: Right.
- 35:12Speaker 2: You don't even understand. Like they'll talk about it. You're like, damn,
- 35:15Speaker 2: that sounds good.
- 35:15Speaker 3: I feel like the first, like the quick fire needs
- 35:19Speaker 3: to be them doing it in that environment.
- 35:20Speaker 4: And then they have to bring it to the beautiful environment,
- 35:22Speaker 4: see if it will translate.
- 35:24Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 35:24Speaker 2: I mean, they can have the beautiful environment and they
- 35:26Speaker 2: can have cute clothes and everything, but they're only going
- 35:28Speaker 2: to be given what they got in prison.
- 35:29Speaker 3: And they still have to use a toilet paper roll.
- 35:32Speaker 1: That's how, that's their fire.
- 35:33Speaker 2: And that they're also allowed to trade.
- 35:38Speaker 3: Right. Well, obviously, bartering is a huge part of it.
- 35:40Speaker 1: Bartering is a huge part of it.
- 35:42Speaker 3: Oh, my God. This is amazing.
- 35:43Speaker 2: If you've got like 20 summer sausages and somebody needs three,
- 35:47Speaker 2: they can take two packs of your Jolly Ranchers.
- 35:49Speaker 1: I mean, it's a great idea. Matt Sharp, call me.
- 35:53Speaker 1: Call me. I'll be the judge. I'll be the taster.
- 35:56Speaker 1: I'll be the host. Keisha and I are like, we're
- 35:59Speaker 1: pitching this show. We're pitching it.
- 36:01Speaker 3: We're dying. This is so funny.
- 36:02Speaker 4: Hilarious.
- 36:03Speaker 1: Somebody pitched you that show and you said no, and
- 36:06Speaker 1: you don't even know. You've missed out.
- 36:07Speaker 3: Listen, I've passed on a lot of shows that have
- 36:09Speaker 3: become successful, so I'm not the arbiter of taste on everything.
- 36:13Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean, you're anti-Carol, so I mean.
- 36:17Speaker 4: Establish that.
- 36:18Speaker 3: What do I know? What do I know?
- 36:21Speaker 2: Y'all, let's talk about perimenopause, okay? I can remember exactly
- 36:26Speaker 2: when I realized I was entering perimenopause. I looked at
- 36:29Speaker 2: another mom at my son's back to school night and goes, whoo,
- 36:31Speaker 2: it's hot in here, right? And she just said, no,
- 36:34Speaker 2: it's 40 degrees outside. But after that, I just started
- 36:37Speaker 2: noticing more and more symptoms. For me, not only was
- 36:40Speaker 2: I just hot all the time for no reason, but
- 36:44Speaker 2: I did not feel like myself. I was so exhausted
- 36:46Speaker 2: all the time. I was not sleeping well. And let's
- 36:49Speaker 2: don't even talk about the mood, okay? My husband called me.
- 36:52Speaker 1: Bad mood Betty. That is a true story.
- 36:54Speaker 2: But luckily for you perimenopausal ladies, Ritual's Perimenopause Health is
- 36:59Speaker 2: here to help you feel more like yourself again. Perimenopause

- 37:21Speaker 2: is a short version of a very long sciencey word,
- 37:23Speaker 2: high-potency shatavara extract, evening primrose oil, and vitamin B6 for
- 37:30Speaker 2: perimenopause support. These ingredients have been clinically studied and support mood,

- 38:18Speaker 2: This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or
- 38:21Speaker 2: prevent any disease. Y'all, why does buying glasses always feel
- 38:27Speaker 2: so complicated and overpriced? I'm just trying to buy some glasses,
- 38:31Speaker 2: not feel like I need to break out one of
- 38:32Speaker 2: my spreadsheets to understand what's going on. Don't get me
- 38:36Speaker 2: started on how hard it is to find something you
- 38:38Speaker 2: actually like and fits your face and you feel confident,
- 38:42Speaker 2: you know, when you leave your house. Like, how can
- 38:44Speaker 2: you tell if they're going to look good on you
- 38:45Speaker 2: from just a tiny, tiny picture? This is why I'm
- 38:48Speaker 2: obsessed with Warby Parker. Seriously, nothing comes close on quality, price, selection,
- 38:55Speaker 2: and they have amazing customer service. Once you buy from
- 38:58Speaker 2: Warby Parker, you realize how much easier they've made the
- 39:01Speaker 2: entire process.
- 39:02Speaker 1: Okay.
- 39:03Speaker 2: They have a virtual try on. It is a total
- 39:05Speaker 2: game changer. You can literally try on glasses from your
- 39:08Speaker 2: phone before you buy. The glasses that I wear every
- 39:11Speaker 2: single day are from Warby Parker and I bought them
- 39:13Speaker 2: 100% online.
- 39:15Speaker 1: It's so easy.
- 39:16Speaker 2: You just point your camera and boom, you can see
- 39:18Speaker 2: a lot of different frames on your face in real time.
- 39:20Speaker 2: I mean, so many times I think this will look
- 39:23Speaker 2: so good on me, but then the virtual try on
- 39:25Speaker 2: will knock me down a peg and make me realize
- 39:27Speaker 2: right away, okay, that does not look good on you,
- 39:29Speaker 2: but this one does. And that, you know, prescription frames,
- 39:33Speaker 2: they start at $ 95. So it's a win-win. So my
- 39:36Speaker 2: latest classes that I got from Warby Parker are progressives,
- 39:39Speaker 2: which is a new thing for me. I didn't even
- 39:41Speaker 2: realize how much I would love it. They are the
- 39:44Speaker 2: Hughes style in the marzipan tortoise color. They make me
- 39:48Speaker 2: feel cute on the days where I just don't want
- 39:50Speaker 2: to wear my contacts. But speaking of contact lenses, Warby
- 39:53Speaker 2: Parker also has contact lenses, online eye exams, and sunglasses.
- 39:57Speaker 2: It's all in one place, which makes everything so easy.
- 40:00Speaker 2: They also have 300 retail stores across the U.S. Mine
- 40:05Speaker 2: is local to me, and I love going in there.
- 40:07Speaker 1: It's so cute.
- 40:08Speaker 2: It's nice knowing you have that in-person option if you
- 40:11Speaker 2: ever want it. Right now, you can buy one pair
- 40:14Speaker 2: of glasses and get 20% off any additional pairs at warbyparker.com
- 40:19Speaker 2: slash pinkshade. That's 20% off any additional pairs when you
- 40:24Speaker 2: purchase one pair at warbyparker.com slash pinkshade. That's warbyparker.com slash pinkshade.
- 40:34Speaker 2: And show me your new glasses after you get them. Okay,
- 40:38Speaker 2: so you didn't watch The Golden Life.
- 40:41Speaker 3: I'm going to.
- 40:42Speaker 1: It's this afternoon. It's a must-see watching.
- 40:45Speaker 4: How can I watch it, though, on Hulu?
- 40:47Speaker 1: I think Hulu.
- 40:48Speaker 2: Now, everybody– this was like a big thing because, like,
- 40:50Speaker 2: a lot of people don't have cable anymore.
- 40:51Speaker 4: I do have cable, actually.
- 40:53Speaker 1: Okay. So I literally watched it on E.
- 40:57Speaker 3: Okay.
- 40:57Speaker 4: I watched it on E.
- 40:58Speaker 2: And recorded it. And then I set my DVR because,
- 41:01Speaker 2: I mean, you and I are the same age.
- 41:02Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 41:03Speaker 1: And set the DVR.
- 41:04Speaker 3: Everything's recorded.
- 41:05Speaker 2: Everything's recorded. But you can also watch it on Hulu
- 41:08Speaker 2: is my understanding. It is so good, Aliza.
- 41:11Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 41:12Speaker 1: I'm so excited. This is, this is what we've been
- 41:16Speaker 1: waiting for.
- 41:16Speaker 4: Why didn't Ryan Bailey like it? I usually agree with him.
- 41:20Speaker 1: I didn't hear Ryan say he didn't like it. I
- 41:22Speaker 1: would fight.
- 41:23Speaker 3: I was like an unpopular opinion because he knows that
- 41:25Speaker 3: everyone's in the Bravo universe is loving it. So I'll
- 41:28Speaker 3: take the Bravo universe on this one because I'm sure like, again,
- 41:31Speaker 3: I watched all the crappy Lake and loved it. So
- 41:33Speaker 3: me too. I'm the, I'm the audience.
- 41:36Speaker 2: When I tell you, Sonia is still so delusional and
- 41:38Speaker 2: they're calling, they're calling her out on it.
- 41:41Speaker 1: Like, yeah, Why do you just lie? Like you literally,
- 41:44Speaker 1: you're just, you're just lying, you know?
- 41:46Speaker 2: And then also Ramona is so hateful to anybody she
- 41:50Speaker 2: deems beneath her, which is everyone.
- 41:52Speaker 4: I love Ramona.
- 41:54Speaker 1: She's so awful, Aliza. That's why I love her. Over
- 41:58Speaker 1: and over and over. She's like, no, you can't bring them.
- 42:01Speaker 1: They're staff. They're staff.
- 42:02Speaker 4: No offense.
- 42:03Speaker 3: They're staff.
- 42:03Speaker 4: She's literally a horrible person.
- 42:05Speaker 1: And she's so awful. Looking directly at somebody's face goes,
- 42:08Speaker 1: you can't sit here. You're staff.
- 42:10Speaker 4: Can you imagine, like, she exists in this world?
- 42:13Speaker 1: Luanne's like, these are my friends. She's like, oh, what
- 42:16Speaker 1: about your friends? They're your staff. I mean, I invited you,
- 42:20Speaker 1: not your staff. I mean, she's so awful. She's so awful.
- 42:24Speaker 2: And Sonya's delusional and claiming she's sober. And she might
- 42:27Speaker 2: be sober from drinking.
- 42:31Speaker 1: She might be. But she's not sober.
- 42:33Speaker 3: That's the big might. She's not sober from everything.
- 42:36Speaker 4: What about Dorinda? There's no way she's sober.
- 42:38Speaker 1: She was sober on episode one.
- 42:41Speaker 4: How boring.
- 42:42Speaker 3: No, I'm just kidding.
- 42:43Speaker 2: Sober on episode one. And it's like, I don't know.
- 42:46Speaker 2: She's like, Sonia is still trying to fight with me
- 42:49Speaker 2: about something that happened 10 years ago when I didn't
- 42:52Speaker 2: invite her to Bluestone Manor. And she was so she
- 42:55Speaker 2: was not featured in like two or three episodes.
- 42:58Speaker 1: Because she was at Bluestone Manor. Right. And what?
- 43:01Speaker 4: The Morgan Letters one or different?
- 43:03Speaker 1: It was must have been after. Okay.
- 43:04Speaker 3: Okay. And.
- 43:06Speaker 2: She wasn't invited to Blue Stone Manor because of her
- 43:09Speaker 2: drunken behavior, and they were afraid of what she would do.
- 43:13Speaker 2: But somebody pointed out to me, Jason Zephyr, I had
- 43:16Speaker 2: him on, and he pointed out that Sonya was actually
- 43:20Speaker 2: featured in a couple of those episodes because she was
- 43:22Speaker 2: going to get her vagina lasered or something. And they
- 43:25Speaker 2: FaceTimed her so that she was featured.
- 43:28Speaker 3: Yeah, I vaguely remember. I do vaguely remember that, which
- 43:30Speaker 3: is crazy. I don't remember what I ate for breakfast,
- 43:32Speaker 3: but I remember that.
- 43:33Speaker 1: Hundreds of thousands of dollars. She took it out of
- 43:36Speaker 1: my daughter's mouth.
- 43:38Speaker 3: Oh.
- 43:39Speaker 1: Your daughter is actually a Morgan.
- 43:41Speaker 3: Yes.
- 43:42Speaker 1: So no money has been taken out of her mouth. Wow.
- 43:45Speaker 3: Yes. Oh, my gosh.
- 43:46Speaker 4: She is so delusional.
- 43:48Speaker 2: She's just making stuff up. She says, I don't drink anymore.
- 43:51Speaker 2: I never see Harry Dubin. He's like, I literally see
- 43:53Speaker 2: her four times a week at this certain barstool like
- 43:57Speaker 2: Harry Dugan.
- 43:58Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 43:58Speaker 1: It's wild.
- 43:59Speaker 3: You know what's crazy though? Do you remember when she
- 44:01Speaker 3: first came on Housewives, she was kind of normal?
- 44:04Speaker 1: No, I don't remember that.
- 44:05Speaker 3: Go back. Like her first season, she was like, I
- 44:08Speaker 3: think she started as a friend and she was like
- 44:12Speaker 3: kind of normal, even on Scary Island.
- 44:14Speaker 1: Scary Island, she was like trying to take up for Kelly.
- 44:17Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 44:18Speaker 4: She was like, hey everyone, like something's wrong.
- 44:19Speaker 3: Like Sonia surpassed that Jelly Bean's Al Sharpton ramp by
- 44:25Speaker 3: like 10,000 rants. Like she is on another level of crazy.
- 44:30Speaker 3: And I feel like it's mental illness or drugs or
- 44:34Speaker 3: both or fame.
- 44:35Speaker 4: I don't know. It's something happened.
- 44:37Speaker 2: It's interesting because Ramona's like, I never see her. We
- 44:40Speaker 2: live three blocks away from each other. And then Sonya's like,
- 44:43Speaker 2: I'm her recluse.
- 44:44Speaker 1: I'm her recluse.
- 44:44Speaker 2: And then Harry's like, no, she's at this bar. I
- 44:47Speaker 2: see her all the time. And yeah, once you get
- 44:51Speaker 2: eyes on it, get back to me and let me
- 44:52Speaker 2: know what you thought about Harry Dubin seemed to be
- 44:54Speaker 2: doing a little bit of a dementia shuffle.
- 44:57Speaker 1: I don't know what was happening.
- 44:58Speaker 3: The fact that Harry Dubin's on it is hilarious. Like
- 45:01Speaker 3: he will never go away like a cockroach.
- 45:04Speaker 1: Yeah, he's not my age. He's 61.
- 45:06Speaker 4: Oh, my God.
- 45:07Speaker 3: I thought he was like 84.
- 45:08Speaker 1: No, he's 61. He looks 84.
- 45:10Speaker 4: He looked 84 like 15 years ago.
- 45:12Speaker 2: He looks 84, and he's shuffling around and flirting with Sonya.
- 45:18Speaker 1: He's like, stop it. Stop it, Harry.
- 45:19Speaker 3: Yeah. I can't.
- 45:21Speaker 2: And you're like, he's fucked, Luann and Sonya. And we
- 45:25Speaker 2: know he made out with Ramona. Remember those pictures came out?
- 45:27Speaker 1: Yes.
- 45:29Speaker 3: Oh, God, Harry. And was married to Aviva. Yeah.
- 45:34Speaker 2: And told Ingrid and I when we met him that
- 45:36Speaker 2: he also used to date Kelly Kalor and Midsommar.
- 45:38Speaker 3: I mean.
- 45:40Speaker 1: I forgot about the married to Aviva part. I want to.
- 45:42Speaker 3: Remind non-New Yorkers that there's 10 million people in New
- 45:45Speaker 3: York City. But on this show, there's only one man.
- 45:49Speaker 1: And not even like a good looking one.
- 45:53Speaker 4: Not even a good, not even a catch.
- 45:55Speaker 1: Not even a catch. Not even a catch.
- 45:58Speaker 2: Okay, so we did it all. We did Potomac, Salt Lake, Roney,
- 46:04Speaker 2: and The Golden Life. Please, when you watch it, send
- 46:07Speaker 2: me a text and just tell me.
- 46:08Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm literally going to watch it today after the
- 46:10Speaker 4: Matthew Perry documentary.
- 46:12Speaker 1: Did you see, you can see everything yet?
- 46:15Speaker 4: Hello, obviously.
- 46:17Speaker 1: Okay, we'll text about that later. We can't go into it.
- 46:19Speaker 3: I can't wait to hear your thoughts. I actually did
- 46:21Speaker 3: an episode on Kate Casey's podcast.
- 46:24Speaker 4: Before about it.
- 46:24Speaker 3: Okay, good.
- 46:25Speaker 1: I'm going to go listen.
- 46:26Speaker 3: Yeah, listen.
- 46:26Speaker 4: We were on the same page, I think.
- 46:28Speaker 3: Okay. Yeah.
- 46:30Speaker 1: I mean, there's really only one answer here. Yeah.
- 46:33Speaker 3: No, it was just, I mean, there's just so much,
- 46:35Speaker 3: there's just so much, you know, an incredible work of art.
- 46:38Speaker 1: I want to see it again.
- 46:39Speaker 2: Same.
- 46:40Speaker 1: And come back from a different lens. Yeah.
- 46:43Speaker 3: Well, now that we know what, you know what I mean?
- 46:45Speaker 3: Now we can like look for all the things. Now
- 46:47Speaker 3: we can really see everything.
- 46:50Speaker 1: The, the key word of the title is you can
- 46:54Speaker 1: see everything.
- 46:55Speaker 3: You can.
- 46:56Speaker 4: Could you?
- 46:56Speaker 3: Yeah. Well, you can.
- 46:58Speaker 1: But you can. Yeah. You guys, it's just amazing.
- 47:01Speaker 3: If you know, you know.
- 47:03Speaker 1: Okay. Let's wrap it up by discussing your new podcast,
- 47:07Speaker 1: The Guilty Rage. Okay. Now, here's how I'm viewing this, right? Okay.
- 47:11Speaker 2: We're going into this trying to solve an unsolved rape
- 47:17Speaker 2: of a woman in Colorado. And the woman that she
- 47:23Speaker 2: moves back to her hometown in Rhode Island?
- 47:25Speaker 3: Yes.
- 47:26Speaker 4: Okay.
- 47:27Speaker 3: Let me, can I stop? Just because I don't want
- 47:30Speaker 3: to get the, I don't want, I need to get
- 47:31Speaker 3: the facts right.
- 47:32Speaker 1: You get the facts right.
- 47:33Speaker 2: Because it's so like, it starts off as one thing
- 47:36Speaker 2: and turns into another thing and then goes back to
- 47:38Speaker 2: the first thing.
- 47:38Speaker 1: It's crazy, guys. It's so good.
- 47:40Speaker 3: It's really crazy. So basically, but there's something that links everything.
- 47:45Speaker 3: So basically- The podcast starts with a woman named Penny
- 47:48Speaker 3: McGee who reaches out to my co-producer and the host,
- 47:51Speaker 3: Lauren Malloy, who was investigating, still is, the murder of
- 47:55Speaker 3: her own mother. And we did a podcast for Audible
- 47:58Speaker 3: called My Mom's Murder. So Lauren lives in Rhode Island.
- 48:00Speaker 3: Penny lives in Rhode Island. So she reaches out to
- 48:02Speaker 3: Lauren because Lauren sort of had success reopening her mother's
- 48:05Speaker 3: case and saying, hey, you don't know me, but when
- 48:08Speaker 3: I was 15 years old, and at this point she's
- 48:11Speaker 3: 57 when she reaches out to Lauren, she says, you
- 48:13Speaker 3: don't know me.
- 48:14Speaker 4: When I was 15 years old, a.
- 48:16Speaker 3: Man named Bleep Bleep sexually assaulted me outside an exclusive
- 48:21Speaker 3: club in Rhode Island called the Dunes Club. And I
- 48:24Speaker 3: have a reason to believe he's a serial predator and
- 48:26Speaker 3: potentially involved with the death of a college girl at
- 48:29Speaker 3: University of Colorado Boulder in 1985, four years after she
- 48:32Speaker 3: says she was raped. So Lauren's like, huh.
- 48:36Speaker 4: This is interesting. Like what is all this about?
- 48:38Speaker 1: So Penny was attacked by this man, like in high school.
- 48:40Speaker 3: Four years before Sherry Clark, the girl under the bridge
- 48:43Speaker 3: in Boulder died.
- 48:44Speaker 1: Okay. All right.
- 48:44Speaker 3: Right.
- 48:45Speaker 4: So, you know, she's like.
- 48:47Speaker 3: I, you know, look into this kind of thing and,
- 48:49Speaker 3: and I'm not getting anywhere with Narragansett police. So basically
- 48:53Speaker 3: Penny had never reported her alleged rape to authorities, but
- 48:57Speaker 3: she realized once he moved a mile away in Newport,
- 49:01Speaker 3: Rhode Island, it's, and that's why the gilded rage, because
- 49:04Speaker 3: if you ever watched the gilded age, it's all of
- 49:06Speaker 3: the rich people from the early 20th century in New York.
- 49:10Speaker 3: They all used to like the Rockefellers and the Vanderbilts.
- 49:13Speaker 3: They all used to have homes in Newport, Rhode Island,
- 49:15Speaker 3: which is the mansion walk. So we actually did our
- 49:17Speaker 3: first interview with Penny in Edith Wharton's old mansion on
- 49:20Speaker 3: the cliff walk because she was working for the guy
- 49:22Speaker 3: that owned it.
- 49:24Speaker 1: The mansions in Newport, by the way, just sidebar.
- 49:26Speaker 4: Unbelievable.
- 49:27Speaker 1: They're summer homes. Yeah, the summer homes.
- 49:30Speaker 3: It's crazy. I mean, literally right on the water. So
- 49:33Speaker 3: we sort of dive in, not really understanding the full story,
- 49:37Speaker 3: but knowing there's something here. And, um, at the end
- 49:41Speaker 3: of the first episode, I want to ruin the cliffhanger,
- 49:42Speaker 3: but you find out, you know, they always say there's
- 49:45Speaker 3: no perfect victims and Penny's got all of these sort
- 49:47Speaker 3: of checkered things from her past. But what we haven't
- 49:49Speaker 3: told you yet is that Penny has got her own
- 49:53Speaker 3: issues that she's facing as we meet her. So that's
- 49:56Speaker 3: a whole other twist.
- 49:57Speaker 1: That- And how quickly did you guys- We knew.
- 50:00Speaker 4: Lauren Googled her right away when she got the email.
- 50:03Speaker 3: So we knew right away, which is honestly why I
- 50:05Speaker 3: was like, what is this story? Yes, I'm in.
- 50:09Speaker 4: And I don't even really understand Sherry Clark's story yet.
- 50:12Speaker 4: I didn't know.
- 50:12Speaker 3: I thought Penny's story would become, and these other women
- 50:16Speaker 3: finding other victims, et cetera, because she had already kind
- 50:19Speaker 3: of made some inroads on that. I thought that would
- 50:21Speaker 3: be our investigation and like Penny's life. And she was
- 50:24Speaker 3: going to be the core of the whole series. What
- 50:27Speaker 3: I didn't know is that it became really Sherry Clark,
- 50:29Speaker 3: the girl who died under the bridge and seeing how
- 50:32Speaker 3: that case was swept under the rug so quickly with
- 50:37Speaker 3: no answers and not just a Boston investigation, but a
- 50:40Speaker 3: potential coverup that let a potential serial predator get away.
- 50:45Speaker 2: And the way that the people that knew him back
- 50:48Speaker 2: then talk about this guy, like he's just a ladies man.
- 50:51Speaker 3: Sure.
- 50:51Speaker 1: He was probably banging three girls tonight, whatever. I mean,
- 50:53Speaker 1: that's cool. That's cool. He was cool. He was so cool.
- 50:56Speaker 3: Yeah. So once we dug in, this became my life
- 51:02Speaker 3: basically almost three years ago.
- 51:04Speaker 4: And I was not a detective when I started. I
- 51:06Speaker 4: think I am one now.
- 51:08Speaker 3: But I just knew even from reading, we had so
- 51:11Speaker 3: much information. We had police reports. We had depositions and
- 51:15Speaker 3: interrogatories and memorandums because the family ended up suing him
- 51:18Speaker 3: for wrongful death because he was never, even though he
- 51:20Speaker 3: was arrested on first degree homicide, after being the last
- 51:24Speaker 3: person that ever saw her after he had what he
- 51:26Speaker 3: calls consensual sex with her five minutes after meeting her,
- 51:30Speaker 3: ends up dead under a bridge face down when her
- 51:34Speaker 3: lethal blow was to the back of her head, somehow
- 51:37Speaker 3: he was arrested but never charged.
- 51:40Speaker 4: So he was sued.
- 51:42Speaker 3: And so we have this plethora of information that we
- 51:48Speaker 3: had to draw on. And we have memos between the
- 51:51Speaker 3: sheriff's department and his lawyers and all these things that
- 51:54Speaker 3: I was like, this is something happened here that does
- 51:57Speaker 3: not make sense. We have all the news articles from
- 51:59Speaker 3: the time too. So it became this jigsaw puzzle of
- 52:02Speaker 3: really just trying to piece together what happened. We hired
- 52:04Speaker 3: our own independent pathologist. We hired a law enforcement, uh,
- 52:08Speaker 3: detect the former detective that I had worked with on
- 52:10Speaker 3: the John Bonnet case.
- 52:11Speaker 4: And he was a Boulder local.
- 52:13Speaker 3: So he was incredibly helpful in opening doors to talk
- 52:16Speaker 3: to people who had worked the case at the time
- 52:18Speaker 3: and who basically looked at it now and were like, wow,
- 52:20Speaker 3: we really screwed this up.
- 52:21Speaker 4: I'm like, yeah, you did.
- 52:23Speaker 3: Why am I doing the police work that you should
- 52:25Speaker 3: have done 40 years ago? I'm not using technology. I'm
- 52:29Speaker 3: just writing things down and connecting dots from testimony that
- 52:33Speaker 3: changed 13 different times over the course of 12 hours.
- 52:35Speaker 1: It's not like you're looking at DNA evidence. Yeah, nothing sophisticated.
- 52:39Speaker 3: All I did was put it in an Excel spreadsheet,
- 52:41Speaker 3: but you could have written it down. It was nothing fancy.
- 52:45Speaker 3: It was just connecting dots and they just didn't do
- 52:47Speaker 3: the work. And then- You know, and we don't know why.
- 52:50Speaker 4: So that's part of what becomes of all this.
- 52:52Speaker 3: And the exciting part is that because of our work
- 52:56Speaker 3: and the work of Sherry's brother, Jason and Penny, Boulder
- 53:00Speaker 3: law enforcement, the coroner's office, the DA, they're all looking
- 53:03Speaker 3: at this again and deciding, should we change the cause
- 53:06Speaker 3: of death from accident to either undetermined or homicide?
- 53:08Speaker 4: And should we be looking at this as a homicide again?
- 53:11Speaker 3: You know, which is what they were originally treating it
- 53:14Speaker 3: as that night.
- 53:14Speaker 4: They told the press, we are calling this a homicide.
- 53:18Speaker 1: But this guy, he comes from a really rich family?
- 53:20Speaker 4: Mm-hmm.
- 53:22Speaker 1: Okay. White guy, comes from a rich family. Yeah.
- 53:26Speaker 3: He has the best, he hires the best lawyer, best
- 53:28Speaker 3: defense lawyer in Boulder who used to, or Denver, used
- 53:31Speaker 3: to be the DA in Boulder. So he knows everybody
- 53:35Speaker 3: and they all respect the guy. And it was a
- 53:38Speaker 3: lot of good old boy network, you know, like, yeah.
- 53:41Speaker 2: It's interesting that it kind of starts off with like
- 53:43Speaker 2: Penny realizing like, oh my God, this guy that, you know,
- 53:47Speaker 2: assaulted me, And it raped me in high school now
- 53:51Speaker 2: lives a mile away from me. Like, whoa, let's, you know,
- 53:54Speaker 2: I don't know. The whole thing, Aliza is it's, it's
- 53:57Speaker 2: so many twists and turns guys. Like I said, you
- 53:59Speaker 2: send it to me. And I've been listening and I'm
- 54:01Speaker 2: halfway through because there are many episodes where I was like,
- 54:04Speaker 2: hold on. Because I walked around the house and I'm like, wait,
- 54:07Speaker 2: I missed something. And I'll come back because I.
- 54:08Speaker 4: You really have to pay attention. You have to pay attention. Yeah.
- 54:11Speaker 3: If you miss one thing because, and we do circle
- 54:14Speaker 3: back to things, but what happens is by episode four,
- 54:16Speaker 3: it basically becomes a real-time investigation for me and Lauren.
- 54:19Speaker 3: So I had no intention of being on the mic.
- 54:22Speaker 3: I'm usually just behind the scenes, but- I just became
- 54:26Speaker 3: so involved at tracking people down and talking to people
- 54:29Speaker 3: and connecting dots and interviewing people. So, and then Lauren
- 54:33Speaker 3: and I debriefing on stuff because also we would divide
- 54:35Speaker 3: and conquer and we start testing things and we, you know,
- 54:37Speaker 3: like all of a sudden it's like, and we're getting
- 54:39Speaker 3: evidence that we never knew existed in real time. So
- 54:42Speaker 3: crazy things. And literally to the point where we haven't
- 54:44Speaker 3: even cut episode 10 yet, the last episode, because we're
- 54:48Speaker 3: still waiting to decide if law enforcement is going to
- 54:50Speaker 3: do anything, which is kind of crazy. And, Um, just
- 54:55Speaker 3: to let people know, um, the, the third episode dropped yesterday, Monday,
- 55:00Speaker 3: so it drops every Monday. So it's, it's going to
- 55:02Speaker 3: be 10 episodes, maybe more, but for now, 10 episodes total,
- 55:05Speaker 3: and it drops weekly anywhere you get your podcast. But
- 55:08Speaker 3: if you can't wait, you can subscribe to our Patreon, uh,
- 55:11Speaker 3: the Gilded Ridge podcast, and you.
- 55:13Speaker 4: Can listen to all nine today.
- 55:16Speaker 3: And a lot of people have joined because I think like,
- 55:18Speaker 3: you know, it's an addictive story. And luckily I gave
- 55:20Speaker 3: you a free peek, but.
- 55:22Speaker 1: But you know what?
- 55:23Speaker 2: The way you sent it to me, I can't save
- 55:25Speaker 2: it because you sent me the raw. So I'm going
- 55:27Speaker 2: to go and join the Patreon because I'm getting on
- 55:29Speaker 2: a plane later today.
- 55:30Speaker 1: And I want to listen. I was in my mind.
- 55:32Speaker 1: I'm like, I'm going to listen to all of it.
- 55:34Speaker 3: I would say join the Patreon for this reason. We
- 55:36Speaker 3: are giving so much extra content. So every time we
- 55:39Speaker 3: drop an episode, we're doing a bonus episode. So like
- 55:42Speaker 3: our first episode is 50 minutes long. our bonus episode
- 55:45Speaker 3: is 58 minutes long. Like there's so much extra information
- 55:49Speaker 3: and behind. So there's the behind the scenes of the investigation,
- 55:52Speaker 3: which is like how we found this person, what we
- 55:54Speaker 3: talked about, you know, things that you can't find out
- 55:56Speaker 3: in the podcast that you'll find out on the Patreon.
- 55:58Speaker 3: So you'll get bonus episodes, but you also get case files.
- 56:00Speaker 3: Like we've got police reports, you know, trial footage, like
- 56:04Speaker 3: things that we're saving just for Patreon members. So I
- 56:10Speaker 3: have to say, I think you're getting a lot of
- 56:11Speaker 3: bang for your buck on the Patreon beyond just the
- 56:13Speaker 3: free episodes.
- 56:14Speaker 2: Yeah, and you guys, if you're listening on the free feed,
- 56:18Speaker 2: like she said, it's every Monday they're dropping the episodes.
- 56:21Speaker 2: And I think that what you're underplaying here, the people really,
- 56:25Speaker 2: for my listeners that I know are really into, you
- 56:27Speaker 2: guys will not believe Penny's.
- 56:29Speaker 1: Story of what... Aliza just said it the right way.
- 56:33Speaker 1: There are no perfect victims. She's not a perfect person.
- 56:37Speaker 1: She has had her struggles.
- 56:38Speaker 2: And her through line of what she's going through is... Also,
- 56:43Speaker 2: a completely other show, practically.
- 56:46Speaker 4: And we thought it was the show. We really did.
- 56:49Speaker 4: We thought it was the show. And that's how crazy
- 56:51Speaker 4: this story is, that.
- 56:52Speaker 3: It becomes— we don't go back to Penny's story after episode
- 56:55Speaker 3: two until episode nine.
- 56:57Speaker 1: Like, that's how much— I'm dying to know what happens there, so.
- 57:00Speaker 4: Yeah, and I love that you haven't Googled.
- 57:02Speaker 3: You know, there's the— No, no, no. We are the
- 57:04Speaker 3: type that don't Google. And then like my husband Googles immediately.
- 57:07Speaker 1: I'm like, what's the point?
- 57:08Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 57:09Speaker 1: That's why with you can see everything. I was like,
- 57:11Speaker 1: don't anybody.
- 57:12Speaker 3: Same. That's why I had to see it.
- 57:13Speaker 4: Like the day it came out.
- 57:14Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 57:14Speaker 4: I was like, if I see a spoiler, I'll be
- 57:16Speaker 4: so pissed.
- 57:16Speaker 1: So mad.
- 57:17Speaker 3: Yeah. So, so I really have to say like, it's,
- 57:20Speaker 3: it's from a, you know, I've worked on a lot
- 57:23Speaker 3: of true crime.
- 57:23Speaker 4: I worked on the job. You know, this is to
- 57:26Speaker 4: me the most.
- 57:29Speaker 3: First of all, the story I felt most passionate about
- 57:32Speaker 3: over the course of my career.
- 57:32Speaker 1: Yeah, you told me a year and a half ago
- 57:34Speaker 1: about it.
- 57:34Speaker 4: Yeah, like I just feel like.
- 57:37Speaker 3: And I will just say this, that because of the
- 57:40Speaker 3: way it has gone around wildfire with CU Boulder women,
- 57:43Speaker 3: that we have a whole community of women that are
- 57:46Speaker 3: now talking to us about what happened to them. So
- 57:49Speaker 3: this is what we hoped for because we knew there
- 57:51Speaker 3: were going to be more victims. And that's exactly what's happened.
- 57:55Speaker 3: So this story is not over by any stretch.
- 57:57Speaker 4: And it's certainly.
- 57:58Speaker 3: with like the wolves of real estate, which you should
- 58:00Speaker 3: watch on Peacock about the Alexander brothers and obviously just,
- 58:04Speaker 3: you know, everything going on in the culture with sexual
- 58:06Speaker 3: assaults on college campuses, it couldn't be more timely. And, um,
- 58:10Speaker 3: I think, you know, this is just a specific story
- 58:13Speaker 3: that's just never gotten any attention until we shined a
- 58:16Speaker 3: light on it. And again, we're trying just like gerbil
- 58:19Speaker 3: in a way we're trying to tell a bigger story here.
- 58:21Speaker 3: but also trying to get justice for not just Sherry,
- 58:24Speaker 3: but these other women that just, you know, have had
- 58:26Speaker 3: to live with this for decades and decades.
- 58:29Speaker 1: Elisa Rosen, gosh, she's very, very legit. Very legit.
- 58:33Speaker 4: Too legit to quit.
- 58:35Speaker 1: She's a legit journalist, podcast producer. I can't talk. Podcast producer.
- 58:41Speaker 1: And I'm so proud of you. You're just killing it.
- 58:44Speaker 3: I'm always proud of you because you work. You are
- 58:47Speaker 3: the hardest working woman in show business. That's for sure.
- 58:49Speaker 2: You know what I mean? I'm doing two shows today
- 58:51Speaker 2: and then I'm headed to Italy this afternoon.
- 58:53Speaker 3: I'm so jealous. I was supposed to be in Italy
- 58:55Speaker 3: this month, but I'm getting my knee replaced instead. Oh.
- 58:58Speaker 4: Living the glam life.
- 58:59Speaker 1: It's fun to be our age.
- 59:02Speaker 3: I want to say, sorry, that we also have an
- 59:05Speaker 3: Instagram account, the Gilded Rage Podcast, and we're putting a
- 59:07Speaker 3: lot of content on there too.
- 59:09Speaker 4: Lauren just did an amazing video.
- 59:11Speaker 3: You'll have to check it out. Yesterday, she's asking a
- 59:14Speaker 3: very important question of our man, Jay.
- 59:17Speaker 4: And it's getting a lot of attention.
- 59:19Speaker 1: And we don't ever know his name. Well- Maybe we do. Okay. Gilded,
- 59:24Speaker 1: not Gilded Age.
- 59:25Speaker 3: There's a Daily Mail article about it. I saw people
- 59:27Speaker 3: posting his name. I think it's, we are never saying
- 59:30Speaker 3: his name. Okay. We are not identifying him, but we
- 59:33Speaker 3: can't control what other people do. Okay.
- 59:35Speaker 1: All right. Well, again, I haven't Googled it, so he's
- 59:37Speaker 1: just J to me.
- 59:38Speaker 4: He's just J to us.
- 59:41Speaker 1: You guys, make sure you're following Aliza.
- 59:43Speaker 2: It's A-Y-R Media, but also, like she said, they have
- 59:46Speaker 2: the Gilded Rage podcast also.
- 59:49Speaker 1: On Instagram and And go and listen to it.
- 59:52Speaker 4: And make sure you do Rage, not Age. It's not
- 59:54Speaker 4: an HBO recap show.
- 59:55Speaker 1: And they haven't come after you to be like, hey.
- 1:00:00Speaker 3: No.
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: The Gilded Age is a phrase. It's a phrase. I
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: love that show, by the way.
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: Everybody, make sure you're following me at PinkShadePod. And keep
- 1:00:12Speaker 2: up with what Elise is doing. She's out here just
- 1:00:15Speaker 2: killing the game, as Kate Casey would say. And when
- 1:00:18Speaker 2: you watch The Golden Life, do text me.
- 1:00:21Speaker 3: Immediately, obviously. Okay.
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: Bye, Aliza. Thanks.
- 1:00:24Speaker 3: Bye.
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: Thank you.
