Transcript
- 0:02Speaker 1: This is the Team Up Play Show.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Podcast previously in the City of Bones.
- 0:29Speaker 1: The screen comes to life. Jamiir, you see your grandma.
- 0:33Speaker 1: I tried for a very long time to gain some
- 0:36Speaker 1: insight into magic. I studied, I studied, but I couldn't
- 0:41Speaker 1: do it, no matter how many spells I memorized or
- 0:44Speaker 1: rituals I practiced. Jamir, you wake in a stark white room.
- 0:50Speaker 1: The severe woman from the Mayor's office enters. She slaps
- 0:55Speaker 1: Taylor on the face to get him to wake. His
- 0:58Speaker 1: eyes open. Confus used, Jamir, it's okay, Bunny, it's okay.
- 1:03Speaker 1: We're gonna be okay. At that, three gunshots into Taylor's chest.
- 1:08Speaker 1: There are stands right next to the shoot and within
- 1:12Speaker 1: the chute that are set up to give out piles
- 1:15Speaker 1: of seemingly never ending fresh fruits and vegetables. I have
- 1:20Speaker 1: some good news. I was able to call a bit
- 1:23Speaker 1: of an emergency meeting for the church council. Sitting around
- 1:27Speaker 1: the table are four men. There is a sharply dressed
- 1:31Speaker 1: man with Asian features. There is a gray haired man
- 1:35Speaker 1: wearing the simple coat and collar of a Catholic clergyman.
- 1:40Speaker 1: Then there is a man who's a little flamboyantly dressed.
- 1:43Speaker 1: And then the last man is enormous. Out of those
- 1:48Speaker 1: sleeves burst these enormous forearms that have elaborate tattoos of
- 1:53Speaker 1: coin and money. I think you start to track camps activity.
- 1:58Speaker 1: I think you gather he is the there's a like
- 2:02Speaker 1: a food bank. They tell us, come there for a
- 2:05Speaker 1: night's sleep, come there for a warm meal, and then
- 2:08Speaker 1: they choose certain of us to bring here or other
- 2:11Speaker 1: places in the city. Tell me everything there is to
- 2:14Speaker 1: know about this gang you're in. Who's left? And then
- 2:18Speaker 1: my boss, he gestures to the pile of viscera. That's
- 2:22Speaker 1: the guy like that. There's nobody else that's him. It
- 2:26Speaker 1: was him. Page told me that the thing that saved
- 2:30Speaker 1: her that night killed a guy. You don't know what's
- 2:33Speaker 1: in you? Oh, and you do, Yes, Maybe you tell
- 2:36Speaker 1: me what's really going on. I'm not ready. I'm not
- 2:39Speaker 1: ready to have that conversation yet. I'm trying. I'm trying.
- 2:42Speaker 1: It's not easy for me. There's a lot I haven't
- 2:45Speaker 1: told you about my family. We can use magic, Jason.
- 3:09Speaker 1: The sun is beginning to turn golden in its descent,
- 3:15Speaker 1: and the three of you float over the city below you.
- 3:18Speaker 1: It hums with life. This is the first time you've
- 3:22Speaker 1: flown openly in the daytime. You hover out of the
- 3:27Speaker 1: mercantile streets of Southern Ask. You pass over the electric
- 3:32Speaker 1: rail and into Sass. You are far enough east that
- 3:35Speaker 1: the residential high rises are getting shorter, and you fly
- 3:39Speaker 1: over rooftop gatherings. People gawk and stare, point and laugh,
- 3:46Speaker 1: looking down at their drinks and smokes, thinking they haven't
- 3:51Speaker 1: had enough to be seeing what they're seeing. Eventually you
- 3:56Speaker 1: get to an alley, an alley you've used before for
- 4:01Speaker 1: to sneak into the tunnel system and into Jamir's house
- 4:04Speaker 1: without being seen. I've named the finally named the neighborhood
- 4:11Speaker 1: that your house is in, Jamir. It's Lowtown, Low Town.
- 4:15Speaker 1: It's in southern Sass, pretty far south. Over the next week,
- 4:20Speaker 1: the city is a buzz with whispers of the new heroes.
- 4:25Speaker 1: The Tower puts a picture of you guys on the
- 4:28Speaker 1: front page, and even New Babel News does a piece
- 4:32Speaker 1: on you during prime time with some grainy footage. The
- 4:36Speaker 1: Tower prints the names that were overheard during the fight
- 4:40Speaker 1: with the masterpiece Quanta Rigel and the phantom. New Babel
- 4:44Speaker 1: News begins to spread names like Starboy, paper Clad Lad
- 4:48Speaker 1: and Electra Girl.
- 4:51Speaker 3: I also want there to be like a ragmag that's
- 4:54Speaker 3: called the Babbler.
- 4:56Speaker 1: That's really yes, the top eligible single heroes.
- 5:04Speaker 4: Two men who fought so strongly and Girl.
- 5:09Speaker 5: Girl also see possibly aliens and Girl Girl. What do
- 5:17Speaker 5: our heroes get up to this week? So we're gonna
- 5:19Speaker 5: go into some downtime. Fuck yeah, So if you want
- 5:24Speaker 5: to put in the numbers right now, I have some
- 5:29Speaker 5: stuff to say about this.
- 5:32Speaker 4: Oh God, sit down.
- 5:33Speaker 1: Say it. I'll stand up and sit down. You don't
- 5:37Speaker 1: have to. But rest, training, unmasked life and thread chasing
- 5:42Speaker 1: is all kind of normal like it was last time. Patrol, though,
- 5:45Speaker 1: I think I want to add to that kind of
- 5:48Speaker 1: your understanding of the state of the city, So not
- 5:52Speaker 1: just kind of getting out there and making somewhat of
- 5:55Speaker 1: a name for yourself, but also what is going on
- 5:58Speaker 1: in the city. And I think that there are certain
- 6:00Speaker 1: things that could turn into scenes based on patrol. Okay,
- 6:06Speaker 1: based on what you want to patrol. In the numbers
- 6:08Speaker 1: you give it to patrol, I think they're and then
- 6:11Speaker 1: like normal with patrol, there are things that you will
- 6:13Speaker 1: miss if the number is not high enough.
- 6:16Speaker 4: So like we won't unlock that cut.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Scene potentially or something will happen without.
- 6:21Speaker 3: Knowing percent heart is like, oh no, I got to
- 6:25Speaker 3: put it all in.
- 6:25Speaker 4: Patrol can find all the secrets.
- 6:27Speaker 1: So zero zero through four, yeah, yes, zero through four?
- 6:32Speaker 4: What are what are they?
- 6:33Speaker 1: Likes Ress training, Patrol, Unmasked life and thread chasing you.
- 6:44Speaker 1: What do you want to do? What do you want
- 6:46Speaker 1: to do?
- 6:47Speaker 3: Is there any is there any room where like I
- 6:51Speaker 3: could have two like three ones rather than a zero
- 6:55Speaker 3: one two?
- 6:56Speaker 1: No, don't that's right? You want to do that's for
- 7:02Speaker 1: Team up advance. You want to change the game, Team
- 7:06Speaker 1: up addition to addition, I can't wait for Team up
- 7:09Speaker 1: three point five three point five E And what was
- 7:14Speaker 1: a super cunchy one for for E?
- 7:17Speaker 2: For?
- 7:18Speaker 1: Yeah, that's team up for E where you can split
- 7:21Speaker 1: up your numbers when we lose our way, well we've
- 7:27Speaker 1: lost the plot.
- 7:28Speaker 6: Yeah, that's when you can start start buying gems and
- 7:33Speaker 6: doing micro transactions ham clash hands.
- 7:38Speaker 1: I think that's a bit from the chat cave listeners.
- 7:40Speaker 1: And I'm so sorry.
- 7:41Speaker 6: You don't apologize, all right, I'm all set on downtime
- 7:44Speaker 6: and you guys get.
- 7:47Speaker 3: I feel one thing I want to give something to everything,
- 7:53Speaker 3: and I'm really struggling with what to give zero.
- 7:56Speaker 1: Dude. That was my struggle too, honestly. Yeah, but that's zero.
- 8:01Speaker 3: I would really love some energy points back. Yeah, so
- 8:05Speaker 3: at least one to rest would be great, but then
- 8:08Speaker 3: at least after that, I I just I really can't
- 8:12Speaker 3: decide what to give zero to because I would love.
- 8:15Speaker 4: To do all of it.
- 8:18Speaker 1: Zero to zero.
- 8:20Speaker 4: Okay, Okay, okay, okay.
- 8:22Speaker 1: Can you get more points if you give Johnny real money?
- 8:25Speaker 4: Can I vend mo you twenty dollars?
- 8:27Speaker 1: Our money is the same. It doesn't matter.
- 8:31Speaker 3: I'll ethan twenty dollars, and then even will vendo you
- 8:34Speaker 3: twenty dollars.
- 8:35Speaker 1: I will still know that it's our money. Johnny only
- 8:39Speaker 1: deals with macro trans. I only deal in ham the
- 8:44Speaker 1: only deals it.
- 8:45Speaker 7: You better give this a motherfucker hams.
- 8:50Speaker 4: Okay, I'll get a ham right now.
- 8:52Speaker 1: I love.
- 8:54Speaker 4: I'll go get you some hamm right now. If you
- 8:57Speaker 4: love one one rather than zero.
- 9:00Speaker 7: Beef is expensive. Twenty twenty six hams in ham is
- 9:04Speaker 7: the new year. It's the year of ham.
- 9:07Speaker 6: This might be getting away from playing the game, But
- 9:10Speaker 6: what I'll say about ham is I think the floor
- 9:13Speaker 6: and ceiling for HAM is the same. There's the best
- 9:16Speaker 6: HAM I've ever had, and the worst HAM I've ever
- 9:17Speaker 6: had is the same HAM.
- 9:19Speaker 4: Guys, that's consistency.
- 9:22Speaker 7: The people want consistency in these trying time That's why
- 9:27Speaker 7: that's why we've turned the HAM.
- 9:30Speaker 1: Alrighty, I'm ready, Let's do rest first. This represents kind
- 9:36Speaker 1: of the rest you're getting the whole period of downtime.
- 9:40Speaker 1: Uh So, if you get into fights and stuff, you
- 9:42Speaker 1: will still be taking damage and losing energy, but the
- 9:47Speaker 1: rest of your activities won't will not cost that stuff
- 9:51Speaker 1: because you're resting here. So what did we give to rest?
- 9:56Speaker 1: Jamiir one? Okay, so you get to roll your both
- 10:00Speaker 1: your er excuse me, your your strength die and your
- 10:05Speaker 1: resilience die. Resilience will give you back HP. Strength will
- 10:09Speaker 1: give you back EPs. Yes five? Oh sorry, go ahead?
- 10:14Speaker 1: Oh should I tell it?
- 10:14Speaker 6: So?
- 10:15Speaker 1: Yeah? The people want to know. Sure. So I got
- 10:17Speaker 1: two on my strength die. So I get back two
- 10:21Speaker 1: EPs and my magic blasts. I was down at three
- 10:24Speaker 1: out of five, so I'm going back up to five
- 10:26Speaker 1: out of five for that. Oh shit, I only have
- 10:28Speaker 1: two aps for strength.
- 10:29Speaker 7: Oh well, and then my HP I got a one,
- 10:35Speaker 7: but I was at twenty five out of twenty eight,
- 10:36Speaker 7: so I'm at twenty six out of twenty eight bad roles.
- 10:40Speaker 1: Yeah, paper Phantom Jason given a three to rest this time.
- 10:46Speaker 6: I need I need the energy. I'm good on health.
- 10:50Speaker 6: But man, and I down to I think one ep. Wow,
- 10:55Speaker 6: I love to see it. That's total of five EPs back, bummer, Ronnie.
- 11:03Speaker 3: I gave two to rest because I'm down nine EP
- 11:06Speaker 3: so I'm rolling two D four so I have the
- 11:09Speaker 3: potential to get eight out of those nine back.
- 11:12Speaker 4: But let's see. Let's see high.
- 11:17Speaker 1: Okay, Hey, quit on resting. Nah, just get a mega nap.
- 11:23Speaker 1: It's called cresting. Oh, I'm crested tonight. Got a big
- 11:29Speaker 1: old crest all right, All right, let's jump into training. Jamiir,
- 11:34Speaker 1: what did you put for training? I put a big
- 11:37Speaker 1: old three in training. Three numbers that number? God damn it?
- 11:48Speaker 1: What do you What are you doing to train? Jamir?
- 11:50Speaker 1: What are you working on? Wow? Okay?
- 11:52Speaker 7: Jamiir first would be spending some time, probably in some
- 11:56Speaker 7: abandoned warehouse, definitely outside of the shoot, working primarily on
- 12:04Speaker 7: flight star tricks. He wants to get good at tricking
- 12:09Speaker 7: with the flight stars, doing some cool, cool nonsense a mctwist. Yeah,
- 12:15Speaker 7: and also again like that, maybe create a second flight
- 12:20Speaker 7: star so I can like hop from one to another
- 12:22Speaker 7: at the very least, like dismiss the one I first
- 12:26Speaker 7: have up and then like catch myself with the second
- 12:29Speaker 7: one a little lower or a little to the right.
- 12:31Speaker 1: I'm trying, Tommy, two flight stars. I'm making up new
- 12:35Speaker 1: craziness with the flight stars. This is my dream. Awesome, Yeah,
- 12:39Speaker 1: with the three. You're definitely able to to do that
- 12:43Speaker 1: to get creative with the flight stars.
- 12:46Speaker 7: If I have the time, I'd also love to work
- 12:49Speaker 7: on my magic blasts. This might be more like meditate
- 12:53Speaker 7: vibese right, which I imagine I go back to I
- 12:58Speaker 7: go back to my grandma's study. I take the blue
- 13:01Speaker 7: pot from whence the Ghin who I met came. And
- 13:05Speaker 7: I'm kind of floating on a flight star a couple
- 13:09Speaker 7: of feet off the ground, legs cross beneath me, trying
- 13:13Speaker 7: to regulate my breathing, feeling the coolness of the jar
- 13:18Speaker 7: in my hand.
- 13:19Speaker 6: As you're meditating, Jason will just be imagine that your
- 13:22Speaker 6: grandma's couches are covered in that plastic that grandma couches
- 13:26Speaker 6: are covered in, and Jason is just on a couch
- 13:28Speaker 6: eating popcorn behind you, just squeaking in the plastic. You're
- 13:33Speaker 6: meditating right now, Jason, please leave? Are you doing a
- 13:35Speaker 6: good job meditating anymore?
- 13:37Speaker 1: Please leave? What are you meditating?
- 13:39Speaker 3: An?
- 13:39Speaker 1: Are you still meditating? Okay? All right, jamiir in your
- 13:44Speaker 1: grandma's study. You haven't revisited this room for a while,
- 13:47Speaker 1: at least in game while you're here off screen, I'm
- 13:52Speaker 1: just hanging out there all the time. Yeah, totally, when
- 13:54Speaker 1: I'm role playing by myself during the times we're not recorded. Yeah,
- 13:59Speaker 1: go ahead, roll an investigation check as you come in here,
- 14:03Speaker 1: as you're kind of peeking around, like my mighty D six?
- 14:07Speaker 1: Is it the ready? That's a six? Numbers go that high?
- 14:13Speaker 4: Oh, a magic number? It's divisible by three.
- 14:18Speaker 1: This is a challenging check. So I wrote a D
- 14:20Speaker 1: ten and I wrote a four. Ooh, we's I Willie's
- 14:26Speaker 1: Jamyor you look around and you find a notebook that
- 14:31Speaker 1: Jason has looked through, but you haven't. A notebook in
- 14:35Speaker 1: one of the drawers that you hadn't seen before. It's
- 14:39Speaker 1: your grandma's journey. As you start flipping through it, and
- 14:43Speaker 1: it does it describes her journey in seeking magic, and
- 14:48Speaker 1: you heard her talk about this in the video that
- 14:52Speaker 1: she left for you. But here you just find kind
- 14:56Speaker 1: of the the path that she took and scribbles here
- 15:03Speaker 1: failures there are just trying to find a way that
- 15:07Speaker 1: she could use the magic of her ancestors Jimir. The
- 15:11Speaker 1: first thing you find in the early pages of this
- 15:15Speaker 1: notebook are are drawing sketches of people with enormous wings
- 15:22Speaker 1: sprouting out of their back, and scribbled there is the
- 15:26Speaker 1: word impundulu, which are flying spirits from African lore. And
- 15:35Speaker 1: it seems as though this is the thing that your
- 15:37Speaker 1: grandma was chasing. After this, this is where it started.
- 15:47Speaker 7: Yeah, I'm paging through this thing furiously, still sitting on
- 15:53Speaker 7: my humming, rotating star beneath me. I'm drinking in the
- 15:57Speaker 7: history that inspired her, fascinated as a see the technological
- 16:03Speaker 7: journey she eventually went on. And I'm paging. I'm first
- 16:08Speaker 7: just kind of flipping through quickly, like looking at how
- 16:10Speaker 7: the pictures change, seeing like the magic quest and then
- 16:14Speaker 7: the technological Quest. Yes, and I'm yeah, I take a
- 16:20Speaker 7: minute and just breathe and just hold this journal close.
- 16:26Speaker 7: Knowing that my grandma wrote in this same book for
- 16:32Speaker 7: years One other thing you notice is.
- 16:37Speaker 1: She gets to a point where she feels like she
- 16:39Speaker 1: understands the categories of magic. And I think we have
- 16:45Speaker 1: these already because Jason sneaked this. But I don't know
- 16:48Speaker 1: if you saw it, Chamir, but I would, Yeah, I did.
- 16:52Speaker 1: You find kind of a big It feels like a
- 16:56Speaker 1: exciting moment in her journal where she's come to this
- 16:59Speaker 1: revelation that there's spirit magic and the Umpun Dulo are
- 17:04Speaker 1: named there, there's balance magic, and the name Piper is
- 17:10Speaker 1: written there, Discord magic and the Tokoloshi are listed there,
- 17:17Speaker 1: another spirit demon from African lore. And then you come
- 17:22Speaker 1: across the word annihilation, the phrase annihilation magic, and listed
- 17:28Speaker 1: under that is spellbook with a question mark whoa, and
- 17:32Speaker 1: then Star Magic with a ton of question marks around it.
- 17:35Speaker 1: You don't really know. It seems as though she didn't
- 17:38Speaker 1: really have any idea of Star magic. Whoa.
- 17:42Speaker 7: Yeah, I'm looking at this and I just everything in
- 17:45Speaker 7: me wants to show Jackie, Oh, this is so big.
- 17:51Speaker 1: So through this meditation with your grandma, you with your
- 17:55Speaker 1: grandma's things and your pot here in this room, I
- 17:59Speaker 1: think you do you get not more control over your magic,
- 18:03Speaker 1: but but you start to think about these categories and
- 18:06Speaker 1: where your magic might be coming from. Obviously, the star
- 18:10Speaker 1: magic stands out as like the guy said he was starfolk.
- 18:13Speaker 1: That makes sense, but seems like she doesn't really know
- 18:16Speaker 1: what that means. You're starting to put a few pieces together. Yeah, Ronnie,
- 18:21Speaker 1: training for you one. And what would you like to
- 18:24Speaker 1: do with your one training?
- 18:25Speaker 3: I would love to be so lucky as to have
- 18:28Speaker 3: a thunderstorm come over New Babble.
- 18:32Speaker 1: Oh yeah, sure this week there is a storm through
- 18:36Speaker 1: the city.
- 18:37Speaker 4: I think. Ronnie goes to the top of the Station's
- 18:40Speaker 4: the tallest.
- 18:41Speaker 1: The space barge is higher.
- 18:44Speaker 4: Oh, the station is.
- 18:45Speaker 1: Separate than the space barg yes, oh okay, yeah, the
- 18:48Speaker 1: space barge is the actual spaceship. Yes, that would have
- 18:51Speaker 1: been shot up into space and stations like next to it.
- 18:54Speaker 1: Then the station is kind of a it's a blanket
- 18:59Speaker 1: word for kind of the campus surrounding the.
- 19:01Speaker 3: Space Okay, so just that area great, Okay. So I
- 19:05Speaker 3: go to the top the space barge. Awesome, And as
- 19:09Speaker 3: I sense the lightning coming, I remember my day vision
- 19:14Speaker 3: of when I did become lightning, not just travel upon it,
- 19:19Speaker 3: And I would love to reach out as a strike
- 19:23Speaker 3: is coming to become lightning when I travel.
- 19:27Speaker 1: Oh cool and branch again. Okay, very cool. Jason's just
- 19:34Speaker 1: behind you.
- 19:34Speaker 8: You become enlightening up there, yes, Jason, uh, it down,
- 19:42Speaker 8: You're gonna die in the storm.
- 19:45Speaker 1: You focus a little bit differently, kind of your own
- 19:49Speaker 1: meditative moment as the rain strikes you.
- 19:52Speaker 4: Thank God, Jason's not here.
- 19:54Speaker 1: I'm always hearing your heart.
- 19:56Speaker 4: No, no, I'm hearing him in my head.
- 20:00Speaker 1: Jason out of your head, and you get in touch
- 20:05Speaker 1: with your day self kind of in a way you
- 20:09Speaker 1: haven't before. You focus, and as all the rain is
- 20:14Speaker 1: hitting you and igniting those lightning patterns in your body,
- 20:18Speaker 1: you're able to separate your powers. The power's part of
- 20:24Speaker 1: you and the day part of you. There is something
- 20:30Speaker 1: you notice within the metal that makes you up that
- 20:36Speaker 1: is pulsing. It's not part of your powers. It's small,
- 20:42Speaker 1: but you can track it because of your powers. And
- 20:48Speaker 1: then it strikes you there's a there's an energy absorption
- 20:55Speaker 1: element to your makeup. You can feel it. You realize
- 21:01Speaker 1: in this moment, this is why you can channel such
- 21:04Speaker 1: strong bursts of lightning without being hurt. You realize that
- 21:10Speaker 1: the storage capability of your frame and skin is the
- 21:14Speaker 1: reason why you have access to so much electricity. Every
- 21:19Speaker 1: feeling you've ever felt, every touch, every thought is stored
- 21:23Speaker 1: in you. As lightning, well as a bolt of lightning
- 21:27Speaker 1: strikes right by your face, you don't flinch. Instead, you
- 21:32Speaker 1: reach out your hand. If the absorption within you could
- 21:38Speaker 1: absorb enough, could it change you? And as you reach
- 21:43Speaker 1: out your body instead of breaking to the lightning's rage
- 21:54Speaker 1: ascends and you become plasma.
- 22:00Speaker 4: I hop around? Can I control it?
- 22:03Speaker 3: I control where the lightning's going and strike from lightning
- 22:07Speaker 3: rod to lightning rod, and I want to like travel
- 22:10Speaker 3: like the whole circumference of the city that way.
- 22:42Speaker 6: Jason training, what's the biggest number you can think of, Johnny?
- 22:46Speaker 1: From bazilion? Subtract a bazilion from that, and what do
- 22:51Speaker 1: you get?
- 22:51Speaker 3: Zero?
- 22:54Speaker 1: Training for the phantom.
- 22:56Speaker 6: I recently became paper and I'm confident I'll do it
- 22:59Speaker 6: again at some point.
- 23:00Speaker 1: Solid logic. Awesome. Let's move to patrol Jason. Excuse me, Jimiir,
- 23:06Speaker 1: We'll start with you. What do you give to patrol?
- 23:09Speaker 1: Jamir gave a four to patrol? Whoa What are you
- 23:13Speaker 1: hoping to do with your four to patrol? Jason or Jamir?
- 23:16Speaker 1: God damn it.
- 23:18Speaker 4: Should I change my name to Jeronica?
- 23:22Speaker 1: Please don't.
- 23:26Speaker 4: It's yeah, you tell me Johnny.
- 23:29Speaker 7: My father's Jamir's father's name is Jason. That's all another thing.
- 23:33Speaker 7: Oh yeah, But anyway, Jamir as Rigel is going to
- 23:38Speaker 7: focus his patrolling in two areas, but I do want
- 23:42Speaker 7: to kind of be seen everywhere now that we're kind
- 23:44Speaker 7: of in the paper. I want to I want people
- 23:47Speaker 7: to see heroes, to know that they're in good hands,
- 23:51Speaker 7: that they have protectors. But I'll definitely be focusing in
- 23:55Speaker 7: the shoot as last time when the heroes were around,
- 23:59Speaker 7: the Shoe had varying reactions to superheroes, So I want
- 24:03Speaker 7: people to see Rightel doing good and even like dumb
- 24:06Speaker 7: small stuff like if I see someone's vehicle broken down,
- 24:09Speaker 7: I'll lend a hand if I if I see if
- 24:13Speaker 7: I see kids looking for a lost cat or something,
- 24:15Speaker 7: I'll help out. I'm definitely trying to be friendly while
- 24:20Speaker 7: also not giving away who I am. And I'm also
- 24:24Speaker 7: wanting I'm wanting to patrol around the heart of darkness
- 24:30Speaker 7: in Jamier's mind, the center of the city in Kono
- 24:35Speaker 7: and the mayoral building, city Hall. I want to be
- 24:40Speaker 7: seen around there while I'm kind of softer in the shoot.
- 24:44Speaker 7: I kind of want to be taking a little harder vibe,
- 24:46Speaker 7: and I kind of do want to monitor to some
- 24:49Speaker 7: extent people's comings and goings in between stopping crime in
- 24:53Speaker 7: that area, especially looking for the mayor, the veiled city council,
- 25:00Speaker 7: and the mayor's assistant.
- 25:03Speaker 1: Who killed Taylors. Jamir will do kind of a scene
- 25:08Speaker 1: from both places. Here, you fly up and down the chute,
- 25:12Speaker 1: you gather a level of comfortability and familiarity with it
- 25:17Speaker 1: that you haven't had before. You know, on above it
- 25:20Speaker 1: in the sky, you see the movements that the core
- 25:24Speaker 1: gang is making. They're spreading out. You start to see
- 25:28Speaker 1: fruit piling up so high in different areas in the
- 25:32Speaker 1: station that there's no way that the shoot people can
- 25:36Speaker 1: eat all of it before it goes bad. There's that
- 25:40Speaker 1: much outpouring from the biodome in the space barge. And
- 25:44Speaker 1: so hey, give me, give me one of those oranges.
- 25:47Speaker 1: Bro a guy, Hey throws you an orange. Hell yeah,
- 25:53Speaker 1: he's gonna push a thumb in and just squeeze the orange.
- 25:58Speaker 1: The choice it They have a good one.
- 26:02Speaker 7: Boys do a little flip on his do a little
- 26:06Speaker 7: like loopy. I'll do a little loop de loop on
- 26:08Speaker 7: my flight star and then I'll zoom off.
- 26:11Speaker 1: They cheer at you excitedly as you fly around as name.
- 26:17Speaker 1: The name Rigel is spreading through the city a little bit.
- 26:20Speaker 1: One day, as you're flying close to the station, there
- 26:24Speaker 1: is an enormous pile of apples, jimir red shining in
- 26:31Speaker 1: the sun. Standing around it, there are members of the
- 26:35Speaker 1: core Gang. You assume, the Apple core Gang.
- 26:40Speaker 6: Well, sorry, Step should say that joke, because that feels
- 26:43Speaker 6: like a step joke.
- 26:44Speaker 1: The Apple cork.
- 26:46Speaker 3: Yeah, just just edit, just edit out Ethan, because I'm
- 26:49Speaker 3: going to take credit for this.
- 26:51Speaker 4: Oh the Apple core Gang.
- 26:53Speaker 1: Oh genius, nice, real smart. There's members of the core
- 26:57Speaker 1: Gang patrolling this area, and all of you, you and
- 27:01Speaker 1: the members of the gang see kind of at the
- 27:04Speaker 1: same time, a tumble of apples down this mountain and
- 27:07Speaker 1: then following it to its source, a child scrambling up
- 27:12Speaker 1: the mountain, apple in mouth, apple in each hand, just
- 27:17Speaker 1: kind of smashing their way up this mountain. Before you
- 27:22Speaker 1: or the men can do anything. You see the shift
- 27:26Speaker 1: and wait in the apples, and they start to cascade,
- 27:30Speaker 1: They start to avalanche. One of the Core Gang members
- 27:34Speaker 1: who's the closest starts to work his own way up,
- 27:37Speaker 1: wading through this pile of apples just flooding over him.
- 27:42Speaker 1: An apple, an apple lanch. Very good, that's a stuff joke.
- 27:48Speaker 1: That's a stuff joke. The one for step zero for
- 27:57Speaker 1: the rest of us.
- 27:59Speaker 9: Uh.
- 27:59Speaker 1: The one guy, one of the core gang members, does
- 28:02Speaker 1: start wading up through the apple lanch and does get
- 28:07Speaker 1: around this kid, but then the mass of apples is
- 28:10Speaker 1: too much and they're both drowned in these apples in between,
- 28:15Speaker 1: stuck in between the wall of a nearby building and
- 28:19Speaker 1: just a mountain of apples.
- 28:21Speaker 7: Yeah right, I'm assuming Rachel was watching this from a
- 28:24Speaker 7: flight star. Yes, yeah, I'm just gonna full tilt, lean down,
- 28:29Speaker 7: and just zoom as fast as I can.
- 28:32Speaker 1: Toward them to.
- 28:34Speaker 7: Burrow in, grab a hold and yoke these guys out.
- 28:38Speaker 1: Yeah. Roll the strength strength plus your might, Jamir, or
- 28:42Speaker 1: might plus your strength, dude, might plus that's the sixteen.
- 28:47Speaker 1: This is an average check because apple isn't that hard
- 28:50Speaker 1: for you. Now, I rolled I rolled three, so you
- 28:54Speaker 1: beat me by more than ten.
- 28:55Speaker 7: Jamir has one hand gripping the front my flight star
- 29:01Speaker 7: crouched down one hand behind him dramatically with my cape
- 29:07Speaker 7: billowing as I speed down a streak of light behind
- 29:11Speaker 7: my flight stars.
- 29:12Speaker 1: It speeds up.
- 29:14Speaker 7: I burrow into the apples at an angle slightly below
- 29:18Speaker 7: where they went in, so that I can swoop up,
- 29:22Speaker 7: holding the man in my arms, kind of fireman carry
- 29:26Speaker 7: style with the child in his arms.
- 29:29Speaker 1: Do you burst out of this mountain of apples holding
- 29:33Speaker 1: these two? The man breathes, Oh, thank you? What what
- 29:47Speaker 1: do they say? Your name was? You can call me
- 29:51Speaker 1: rage Rai, Jel, thank you. You look at the little kid,
- 30:07Speaker 1: and you see your brother Jace with an apple in
- 30:11Speaker 1: his mouth, a big smile on his face.
- 30:13Speaker 7: About one at a time. Next time? All right, young man, Okay,
- 30:19Speaker 7: we're flying. This is crazy, Yeah it is. I set
- 30:25Speaker 7: them down carefully, give a salute. I don't want to
- 30:27Speaker 7: say too much more in front of my little brother,
- 30:30Speaker 7: and I'll do one of the one of the tricks
- 30:33Speaker 7: I've been planning. I run at the wall, I kick
- 30:39Speaker 7: off wall, jump off as hard as I can, and
- 30:42Speaker 7: then create a flight star and fly back in the
- 30:45Speaker 7: opposite direction.
- 30:46Speaker 1: I was running.
- 30:47Speaker 7: Fuck yeah, totally pointless, but crazy fun.
- 30:53Speaker 1: The guy you saved, as well as the rest of
- 30:57Speaker 1: the core gang members here cheer for you as you
- 31:01Speaker 1: zip off another day. So you also want to patrol
- 31:17Speaker 1: the Kno area where the mayor's office is, which is
- 31:20Speaker 1: it's in the north west most section of the city.
- 31:26Speaker 1: It is as far away from the people as it
- 31:29Speaker 1: can be. It used to be downtown, but the mayor
- 31:31Speaker 1: had it moved when took office, so it's way way
- 31:36Speaker 1: up northwest. And here's what you gain from your four
- 31:40Speaker 1: in patrol. You never see the mayor go in and
- 31:42Speaker 1: out of that place. You do see the city council
- 31:46Speaker 1: shuffle in and out sometimes, but not too often in
- 31:50Speaker 1: a week, probably once all around the same time for
- 31:53Speaker 1: like a meeting. However, the mayor's assistant goes in and
- 31:56Speaker 1: out often. You do follow her patterns a little bit.
- 32:01Speaker 1: She goes to meet with a few people. I don't
- 32:04Speaker 1: know anybody you know necessarily, but she meets with people
- 32:08Speaker 1: here or there throughout the city. She never collects anything,
- 32:12Speaker 1: she never gives anything. It's always word of mouth. It's dusk.
- 32:17Speaker 1: You're following her at a distance, and she's headed towards
- 32:20Speaker 1: what you assume and have gathered as likely her home.
- 32:24Speaker 1: And right before she comes to her intersections, she splits
- 32:27Speaker 1: down a back alleyway am I following on foot or
- 32:30Speaker 1: from rooftops or from flight How do you want to
- 32:33Speaker 1: be following? I think i'd want distance. I think i'd
- 32:37Speaker 1: want to like have binoculars from a flight star high
- 32:42Speaker 1: enough up that hopefully she I don't know, doesn't know
- 32:45Speaker 1: what this, doesn't notice this drone like thing, this human
- 32:49Speaker 1: size drone right above her, and I'm kind of like
- 32:52Speaker 1: tracking her through my binoculars. Well, I'm kind of leading
- 32:55Speaker 1: over the edge of my flight star, following her from
- 32:58Speaker 1: directly above. You know one thing, it's that bad guys
- 33:02Speaker 1: never look up. They never look up, true, jamiir You
- 33:05Speaker 1: follow her way above her in this alley way. She
- 33:09Speaker 1: takes a left in the alley, and you see that
- 33:12Speaker 1: the alley ends there. She then ducks behind a dumpster
- 33:20Speaker 1: there and looks towards the entryway of the alley, waiting
- 33:25Speaker 1: for something. What are you up to, little miss? You're
- 33:29Speaker 1: doing anything else or leaving it there? Do I see
- 33:32Speaker 1: her kind of disappear? She is trying to so, I think,
- 33:35Speaker 1: because you're so high above you still see her behind
- 33:39Speaker 1: the dumpster. But she's trying to hide as though someone
- 33:42Speaker 1: We're gonna walk the way the same enter the alley
- 33:44Speaker 1: the same way she did.
- 33:47Speaker 7: Jamir is going to quietly descend, and I'm going to
- 33:51Speaker 7: get on top of one of the buildings that she's
- 33:55Speaker 7: next to, the one of the two buildings that kind
- 33:58Speaker 7: of form the alley, so I can hear and kind
- 34:00Speaker 7: of look down, and I'm ready to pounce.
- 34:02Speaker 1: In make a sneak check Jamir. Oh no, that's a
- 34:07Speaker 1: three magic number. She rolled a six. Damn you see
- 34:19Speaker 1: your stand Look up in your direction. It's a tall building.
- 34:23Speaker 1: It's getting dark. She says, why are you following me?
- 34:30Speaker 7: At this Rigel is going to sideways flip twist off
- 34:38Speaker 7: the top of the building, land in front of her
- 34:42Speaker 7: with a ground pound, punching in the alley and breaking
- 34:46Speaker 7: the concrete a few feet in front of her.
- 34:50Speaker 1: She steps back, as you do, so I saw you
- 34:53Speaker 1: in the papers, questions the same why are you following me?
- 34:58Speaker 1: Be careful, boy, I'm clever. I've heard a lot of people,
- 35:02Speaker 1: and I remember everyone and why I can put pieces together.
- 35:08Speaker 1: Give me enough time, or have the balls to kill me.
- 35:17Speaker 7: Jamir begins to summon his cackling magical energy in the
- 35:23Speaker 7: fingers of his right hand, feeling the power dance between
- 35:28Speaker 7: the digits and I slowly harden my hand into a
- 35:33Speaker 7: glowing fist. I'm the kind of person that will be
- 35:39Speaker 7: watching people like you until this city is fixed.
- 35:46Speaker 1: The two of you stand there in the alleyway until
- 35:50Speaker 1: she says, you know, let me go home. Then I
- 35:54Speaker 1: look over my shoulder. Day didn't show up. Mm hmmm,
- 36:01Speaker 1: actually you did.
- 36:04Speaker 7: There's easier ways to find me, and Jamiir is going
- 36:09Speaker 7: to still looking at her, step back, and there's gonna
- 36:13Speaker 7: be a flight star where I step. So I'm kind
- 36:16Speaker 7: of like ascending as I step back, and I float
- 36:20Speaker 7: up and away from her backwards, still not breaking eye contact.
- 36:27Speaker 1: Eventually, as you float out of sight, she heads home. Yeah,
- 36:32Speaker 1: Jamiir's hard as pounding after that freaking out, I will
- 36:38Speaker 1: definitely land breathe heavy earlier, I'm definitely I definitely smell
- 36:47Speaker 1: of apple, that apple smell. And the first thing Jamiir
- 36:56Speaker 1: is going to think is I need a better com Quanta.
- 37:03Speaker 1: What do you give to patrol? Three number? Nice lot
- 37:08Speaker 1: of patrol? Yes, where are you patrolling? Quanta?
- 37:11Speaker 3: So I chose three places the soup kitchen that we
- 37:16Speaker 3: learned about in the first fight where they're nabbing people.
- 37:21Speaker 3: I want to see what's happening there and hopefully stop
- 37:25Speaker 3: some nabbing. The other is the neighborhood where I saw
- 37:29Speaker 3: camp demanding payment from that one place. And then the
- 37:33Speaker 3: other is just like around the church of the New
- 37:35Speaker 3: Babbel day. Got it, just kind of seeing what's going
- 37:39Speaker 3: on over there.
- 37:40Speaker 1: Got it?
- 37:41Speaker 4: If like my old.
- 37:42Speaker 3: Clients are still coming and going, if yeah, other yeah,
- 37:47Speaker 3: and then just any crime along the way, trying to
- 37:50Speaker 3: help out.
- 37:51Speaker 1: Cool, I will. So what we'll do is I'll give
- 37:53Speaker 1: you information from all of them with the three okay,
- 37:57Speaker 1: and then we'll do a scene of one of them.
- 37:59Speaker 1: Okay kitchen. So the soup kitchen is. Let me get
- 38:03Speaker 1: my map. The Catholic Church mostly operates in two districts
- 38:08Speaker 1: in the city, Upper West and Upper East, split up
- 38:12Speaker 1: in between Nebraska and Colorado north. Up there, which is
- 38:17Speaker 1: not too too far away from Galileo's Grave where you've been,
- 38:19Speaker 1: but it's more suburban up there, and the church has
- 38:24Speaker 1: made their steak there, or did back in the day.
- 38:27Speaker 1: You do find a number of soup kitchens, a number
- 38:32Speaker 1: of hostels and places for people to stay that need it.
- 38:35Speaker 1: Let's do an investigation check to see if you kind
- 38:38Speaker 1: of find the one that is nasty.
- 38:40Speaker 3: I would love to add synaptic scant to that. Oh sure,
- 38:44Speaker 3: six six this magic number average check. I rolled a four.
- 38:50Speaker 1: You fly over all these trying to find as many
- 38:52Speaker 1: of them as you can, and you do come to
- 38:55Speaker 1: one that's very near the main Catholic church. There's a
- 38:58Speaker 1: lot of churches here. There's yes here. Here's what you
- 39:02Speaker 1: might know about the Catholic Church here because you grew
- 39:05Speaker 1: up religious, not Christian religious.
- 39:07Speaker 4: But I'm God religious, yes.
- 39:09Speaker 1: That kind of religious, one of those God religions, one
- 39:13Speaker 1: of those one of those God religions about God. There
- 39:19Speaker 1: is an enormous cathedral and it splits the line between
- 39:24Speaker 1: Ask and Kono. It is on the line rather okay,
- 39:27Speaker 1: And there was a bishop here, but when New Babbel
- 39:31Speaker 1: was separated from the rest of the world fully they
- 39:35Speaker 1: started calling him the silent Pope. This you know, there
- 39:39Speaker 1: is a building connected to the cathedral where people are
- 39:43Speaker 1: going in for rest and for food. And you start
- 39:50Speaker 1: to sense that the hearts of the helpers do not
- 39:53Speaker 1: have good intentions.
- 39:55Speaker 3: Can I sense like when they're planning it's kidnap people,
- 40:01Speaker 3: So I could know like when an operation would be
- 40:04Speaker 3: happening I.
- 40:05Speaker 1: Think on your success for your scan. You scan the
- 40:09Speaker 1: building and there you do find kind of a creepy
- 40:13Speaker 1: underground croft that might hold people, but it is empty.
- 40:18Speaker 1: There's no one down there.
- 40:19Speaker 3: Hey, well, I think this is the place, so better
- 40:22Speaker 3: come back with help.
- 40:23Speaker 1: I think. So you find that you also wanted to patrol?
- 40:27Speaker 3: Where else the neighborhood where I saw camp and then
- 40:30Speaker 3: around the main CNBD AH camps CMDB you see him
- 40:36Speaker 3: the CBD.
- 40:37Speaker 1: What are you hoping to glean from the Church of
- 40:39Speaker 1: the New Babbel day?
- 40:40Speaker 3: I think if I think Ronnie would be honest with
- 40:43Speaker 3: herself that to see if her old clients are still
- 40:48Speaker 3: coming and going.
- 40:49Speaker 1: So outright, just with the score you gave to patrol,
- 40:52Speaker 1: you do not see your old clients, Okay, no one's
- 40:55Speaker 1: going in or out in that respect. You do see you,
- 41:01Speaker 1: you touch him with a touch base with Gabe. I
- 41:03Speaker 1: assume he meets you like on a neighboring rooftop.
- 41:08Speaker 4: Ronnie, Sorry, I'm quanta, quanta, sorry, thank you.
- 41:13Speaker 1: I'm sorry.
- 41:13Speaker 4: It's fine.
- 41:14Speaker 3: How's it going, you know, just trying to make this
- 41:20Speaker 3: city a better place?
- 41:22Speaker 1: Okay, Hey, I'm how long do I have to keep
- 41:26Speaker 1: staying here?
- 41:27Speaker 3: Oh, oh, you can leave whenever you want. Really, I'm
- 41:31Speaker 3: sorry if I did you feel like you had to
- 41:33Speaker 3: be there.
- 41:34Speaker 1: No, No, I thought we had like a mission. But
- 41:37Speaker 1: none of those meetings don't happen anymore.
- 41:40Speaker 4: Yeah, I noticed, and.
- 41:43Speaker 1: They they don't come to vote on Dirk or anything anymore.
- 41:46Speaker 1: Church council doesn't meet.
- 41:48Speaker 4: They don't come anymore.
- 41:49Speaker 1: No, that doesn't mean they won't, but I just it's hot.
- 41:53Speaker 1: There's a new there's a new high bridge.
- 41:56Speaker 4: Who is it?
- 41:57Speaker 1: His name is Lucas.
- 42:00Speaker 4: Lucas.
- 42:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I think you would you you would know Lucas
- 42:03Speaker 1: As wasn't a part of the church counsel or any
- 42:06Speaker 1: of the creepy stuff that you knew of he was
- 42:10Speaker 1: would have been like an elder at the church or
- 42:12Speaker 1: one of the lower bridges.
- 42:15Speaker 4: Okay, well, yeah, let let's get you out of there.
- 42:17Speaker 1: Okay, do you.
- 42:19Speaker 4: I should talk to Jillian first, But do you have
- 42:21Speaker 4: anywhere to stay?
- 42:23Speaker 1: I don't, that's the thing. And I don't have a job.
- 42:26Speaker 1: I'm sorry, I'll find a job me.
- 42:30Speaker 2: Neither.
- 42:30Speaker 4: And I'm you know, I'm already kind of free loading
- 42:32Speaker 4: off Jillian. So I would feel bad if it was
- 42:34Speaker 4: both of us.
- 42:36Speaker 1: We could open up your old business. I don't think so.
- 42:40Speaker 1: Oh okay, they just an.
- 42:42Speaker 4: Idea and I'm wanted for murder.
- 42:45Speaker 1: Well yeah, but not Quanta Ronnie.
- 42:49Speaker 3: That's true, just a thought. Yeah, I'm gonna think about that.
- 42:55Speaker 1: Okay.
- 42:55Speaker 4: Can I zipya anywhere?
- 42:58Speaker 1: Or uh no? I mean I got to sleep here.
- 43:00Speaker 1: I'll wait till I find a job and then i'll leave.
- 43:03Speaker 3: Okay, Okay, we'll keep me posted, all right, I can
- 43:06Speaker 3: write your reference.
- 43:08Speaker 1: Okay, thanks, that was a joke. Oh yeah, you shouldn't
- 43:12Speaker 1: because you're dear wanted, wanted for murder. Yeah but Quantico
- 43:16Speaker 1: because everybody you were in the news now.
- 43:19Speaker 3: Yeah, but maybe best if people don't know still all
- 43:22Speaker 3: the same that you're connected to me.
- 43:24Speaker 1: Yeah that's true.
- 43:25Speaker 4: I don't one another incident like before.
- 43:28Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, of course, you know.
- 43:31Speaker 4: I just yeah, you've heard so much for me, and
- 43:33Speaker 4: I couldn't. I couldn't.
- 43:36Speaker 9: I don't, I you know, I don't. I don't want
- 43:38Speaker 9: you to get hurt, right, Yeah, I need to get
- 43:41Speaker 9: out of here. Okay, I'll keep in touch.
- 43:43Speaker 4: Okay, Bye Bye.
- 43:50Speaker 1: Sap of Camp. You track down his whole deal. He
- 43:57Speaker 1: has kind of a group of people that ride or
- 44:00Speaker 1: around the city. You start to follow his route and
- 44:04Speaker 1: you realize that he doesn't go back to the same
- 44:06Speaker 1: place he did before that you found him before. You
- 44:11Speaker 1: puzzle on that for a second, and then you follow
- 44:15Speaker 1: him to the commercial area in Ask, mostly shops, mom
- 44:22Speaker 1: and pop shops. There is a financial district and Ask
- 44:26Speaker 1: as well, but outside of that there are more local
- 44:30Speaker 1: businesses that are in operation, and he does a full
- 44:34Speaker 1: route around there, just going into people's businesses and collecting.
- 44:40Speaker 1: You get close enough to one of them. There's a
- 44:45Speaker 1: little mom and pop shop called Carrie's Candles, and you
- 44:49Speaker 1: get close you start to hear their voices through the
- 44:53Speaker 1: electrical waves. I don't see why I should pay you
- 44:57Speaker 1: this month? And was there pay you for protection? Right? Well?
- 45:02Speaker 1: Gang members from Kono shot at my store, destroyed all
- 45:06Speaker 1: my windows and display glasses, busted a bunch of candles.
- 45:10Speaker 1: Are you gonna fit the bill for that? Or do
- 45:12Speaker 1: I have to keep paying you for protections that never come? Huh?
- 45:16Speaker 1: Carrie carry You've always been easy to work with. Don't
- 45:21Speaker 1: make this hard now, Huh? Well, I should just pay
- 45:24Speaker 1: you for something I'm not getting. I think you misunderstand
- 45:28Speaker 1: a little bit the unspoken rules of this arrangement. We
- 45:33Speaker 1: say protection when we first come by, but if you're
- 45:37Speaker 1: doing business in the city, we get our cut. That's
- 45:41Speaker 1: how it is. I don't make the rules, and I
- 45:44Speaker 1: don't want this to get any uglier, So don't make me.
- 45:48Speaker 1: You start to hear Camp move, and you start to
- 45:51Speaker 1: hear Carrie scream. I enter.
- 45:54Speaker 3: How you said that the windows flip twist on pop
- 46:00Speaker 3: out of a giant apple cake. You said that the
- 46:04Speaker 3: windows got like shot up.
- 46:05Speaker 1: Yes, they're boarded up. Yeah with them plywood.
- 46:09Speaker 4: I think I'm just gonna slide down to the street level.
- 46:12Speaker 4: Just try to walk in through the front door.
- 46:15Speaker 1: Yeah, you do the dooring. Camp has his hands around
- 46:20Speaker 1: Carrie's neck. They both look at you. He drops his hands.
- 46:26Speaker 1: She looks over at you. Hello, we're closed.
- 46:31Speaker 3: Actually, Oh, I just you know it's I have my
- 46:34Speaker 3: baltaklava fully on.
- 46:36Speaker 4: I just I really need a candle. It's an anniversary.
- 46:39Speaker 1: Ah wait, are you here to rob me?
- 46:44Speaker 4: No? No, I'll pay.
- 46:46Speaker 1: Oh okay, what kind of candle are you looking for?
- 46:51Speaker 4: Oh? What says like, Oh, we've been together for seven months?
- 46:56Speaker 1: Ah, let me see. She goes over behind the car
- 47:00Speaker 1: to the candles that aren't bullet shot up.
- 47:03Speaker 4: I make eye contact with Camp While she's doing that.
- 47:06Speaker 1: He's like standing there with his hands still kind of
- 47:09Speaker 1: coming to his sides. He's like does a very fake,
- 47:14Speaker 1: shallow smile and nods at you evening hike.
- 47:19Speaker 4: Hell, you are hurting this woman.
- 47:23Speaker 1: No, I mean we have an arrangement, and you best
- 47:27Speaker 1: get your candle and get out of here before this
- 47:29Speaker 1: has to get ugly.
- 47:30Speaker 3: Okay, Oh, I'm going to get my candle, but I
- 47:32Speaker 3: think you should get out of here too.
- 47:34Speaker 1: I can't get out of here. See if I get
- 47:37Speaker 1: out of here without what I came for, I'll get
- 47:41Speaker 1: in trouble, just like you with your candle. You need
- 47:43Speaker 1: your candle. I need what I came in here for.
- 47:47Speaker 4: I can't let you hurt her.
- 47:49Speaker 3: It's it's it's the lightning whip starts extending from my
- 47:55Speaker 3: hand to the floor.
- 47:56Speaker 1: Okay, easy, now he's what are you doing? How are
- 48:01Speaker 1: you doing that? Oh?
- 48:02Speaker 4: I'm just, you know, just letting you know that. You know,
- 48:05Speaker 4: maybe you should leave before I hurt you.
- 48:08Speaker 1: The old lady comes back from the back. What about
- 48:12Speaker 1: ginger snap? I know it's kind of a holiday thing,
- 48:15Speaker 1: but what is that?
- 48:18Speaker 4: Let me smell it?
- 48:19Speaker 1: No, what is that? What is that lightning?
- 48:22Speaker 4: Oh, that's it's just me. It's just the thing that
- 48:25Speaker 4: I do.
- 48:26Speaker 3: Okay, I look at her, look from her to camp,
- 48:29Speaker 3: from her to camp.
- 48:30Speaker 4: Are you gonna leave? Sir?
- 48:32Speaker 3: Make a cox check ooh man, I add my lightning
- 48:36Speaker 3: with Yeah.
- 48:38Speaker 1: It's like a intimidation intimidation tactic. Sure, thank you. This
- 48:43Speaker 1: is challenging. So I'm only a deep ten.
- 48:45Speaker 4: I gotta roll these two because they're from a matching set. Oh,
- 48:49Speaker 4: I rolled in nineteen twenties. That's twenty one.
- 48:52Speaker 1: Damn, I rolled an eight. Camp puts his hands up.
- 48:57Speaker 4: Fun, I'll go I'm watching you.
- 48:59Speaker 1: I'm leaving. He starts walking out the back door from
- 49:02Speaker 1: whence he came in. She looks at you. He's just
- 49:06Speaker 1: gonna come back.
- 49:07Speaker 3: I know, but I heard you scream and the whip disappears.
- 49:14Speaker 1: Well, thank you for tonight.
- 49:16Speaker 4: Is there anywhere else you can go?
- 49:18Speaker 8: Now?
- 49:18Speaker 1: This is all I have. They make us pay them
- 49:22Speaker 1: for protections. Yeah, but then they don't protect and also,
- 49:28Speaker 1: this is the first time anything's happened to my store.
- 49:31Speaker 1: That's as though we need the protection. He says that
- 49:36Speaker 1: the gangs in the city are dangerous and looking to expand.
- 49:39Speaker 1: But we haven't really seen that eye. It's hard to
- 49:42Speaker 1: know what to believe when they're threatening us.
- 49:47Speaker 4: Well, I'm here now and I'm trying to make him
- 49:50Speaker 4: go away.
- 49:51Speaker 1: Okay, Well could you do it before his next route
- 49:55Speaker 1: next week?
- 49:56Speaker 4: Maybe? How much for the candle?
- 49:58Speaker 1: Oh honey, just take it?
- 50:00Speaker 4: Thanks?
- 50:01Speaker 9: You sure you don't want to go somewhere else, sir?
- 50:04Speaker 9: I have nowhere to go, right this is my home.
- 50:07Speaker 9: I live upstairs.
- 50:08Speaker 3: I'm we're we're gonna make We're gonna make this city better,
- 50:12Speaker 3: I promise.
- 50:13Speaker 1: Okay, I'll look out for it.
- 50:17Speaker 4: The smell's really good.
- 50:19Speaker 1: Okay, bye, goodbye, and you head out a Jason patrol?
- 50:28Speaker 1: What's the highest number you can think of, Jenny? For
- 50:32Speaker 1: that's it? I'd give it afore nice. What are you
- 50:47Speaker 1: doing us?
- 50:47Speaker 6: Last time I went on a little baby patrol, I
- 50:50Speaker 6: saw the Yakuza heading off somewhere and a bunch of bikes.
- 50:54Speaker 6: I left the little paper talisman with them. I kind
- 50:56Speaker 6: of want to follow up on what the gang activity is.
- 51:00Speaker 6: I would sort of assume that they you know, what
- 51:07Speaker 6: the Yakuza is doing, but also the Irish mop to
- 51:10Speaker 6: just making sure that they're kind of gone but because
- 51:12Speaker 6: we've seen a little bit of their activity, we surface
- 51:16Speaker 6: and anyone I rough up to, I just want to.
- 51:18Speaker 6: I just want to beat up a bunch of people
- 51:19Speaker 6: along the way, you know, any any little petty crimes.
- 51:23Speaker 6: Beat them up, tell them the paper phantoms out there,
- 51:28Speaker 6: and then, you know, give them a little paper cut
- 51:30Speaker 6: under their fingernail or something. Yeah.
- 51:33Speaker 1: Hell yeah, he whoa you spread your name, do a
- 51:36Speaker 1: little light torture.
- 51:38Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean any newspapers that come across. I just
- 51:41Speaker 6: changed the word. I add the word paper.
- 51:44Speaker 1: This paper talisman though. For four I'm gonna give you
- 51:47Speaker 1: like a big scene, like a big reveal.
- 51:49Speaker 3: Here.
- 51:50Speaker 1: You track down this little paper talisman as you are
- 51:54Speaker 1: flying over the city, all the city, wanting everyone to
- 51:56Speaker 1: know the fear of the paper phantom. You attached a
- 52:05Speaker 1: little like origami piece.
- 52:07Speaker 6: Yeah, just like a little strip with a specific like
- 52:12Speaker 6: symbol that I drew so I can always find it again.
- 52:15Speaker 6: Uh yeah, I just attached it to the back of
- 52:17Speaker 6: one of their motorcycles as they were they seemed to
- 52:19Speaker 6: be heading somewhere last week.
- 52:22Speaker 1: Yes, it leads you surprisingly to you to a warehouse
- 52:29Speaker 1: in ask close to the dry docks. Even though the
- 52:37Speaker 1: hover bike had been ridden in from Kono. You saw
- 52:41Speaker 1: the bike sits with a bunch of other bikes stacked
- 52:45Speaker 1: outside of this warehouse. I'm glad it's not alone. I
- 52:48Speaker 1: don't want the bikes to be lonely. It's not the
- 52:51Speaker 1: same warehouse where you killed Seamus, but it's close. As
- 52:55Speaker 1: you think of leaving, you hear some loud shouting inside
- 52:59Speaker 1: of this wars. A large crowd yells excitedly. Yeah, I'll glide,
- 53:09Speaker 1: I'll glide on over. Is there a kind of like
- 53:12Speaker 1: the other warehouse? Is there an access point on the
- 53:15Speaker 1: roof or high windows I can try and try and
- 53:17Speaker 1: get into. Absolutely yeah, clan cling to the shadows and
- 53:21Speaker 1: get up in the get up, get up all a windows, rafters,
- 53:25Speaker 1: well a sneak check, easy for babies. This will be
- 53:32Speaker 1: on power with my eye cloak. I don't know as
- 53:34Speaker 1: good as I could have done, but ten, okay, I
- 53:36Speaker 1: rolled five. No one sees you as you slip in
- 53:39Speaker 1: through one of the high windows. Here's what you see.
- 53:45Speaker 1: There's a young man dressed in a high end dark
- 53:50Speaker 1: green suit and tie, much like seamuses, and he sits
- 53:57Speaker 1: on something that's like a It's on a platform. It's
- 54:02Speaker 1: a large, high back, plush chair, red with brass buttons. Dang,
- 54:08Speaker 1: that's a nice chair. Could read so many good books
- 54:11Speaker 1: in that chair. He looks over a large group of men,
- 54:15Speaker 1: hundreds who were talking anxiously, and then he speaks softly,
- 54:25Speaker 1: but it reverberates over the crowd. Quiet now report. Then
- 54:33Speaker 1: he looks at the man standing on the platform with him. Yeah, yeah,
- 54:40Speaker 1: so I finally found out what's going on. Our man,
- 54:44Speaker 1: Andrew God, rest his soul. Like half of the men
- 54:47Speaker 1: cross their chests. Our man, Andrew God, rest his soul.
- 54:52Speaker 1: He took the head of the son of the oil
- 54:55Speaker 1: bon for show and tell. And then after your paw
- 54:59Speaker 1: was killed, the old man's daughter then brought her bikers
- 55:04Speaker 1: in here and took the heads of all of our captains.
- 55:09Speaker 1: And we found them all except for her. Couldn't find her.
- 55:13Speaker 1: But we'll find her eventually, and then we'll we'll have justice.
- 55:19Speaker 1: The young man stands from his throne, reaches into his jacket,
- 55:27Speaker 1: pulls out a gun, and shoots the announcer in the head. Justice.
- 55:36Speaker 1: Since when is justice enough for the flog? Revenge? Is
- 55:41Speaker 1: that all I'm owed? Is that all your owed? This said?
- 55:49Speaker 1: He used to be ours we should be kings. Is
- 55:53Speaker 1: there a green blood in here who doesn't want what's
- 55:56Speaker 1: owed him, what was taken from him? The crowd murmurs, First,
- 56:07Speaker 1: we're going to burn that library down, find Flay and
- 56:15Speaker 1: kill this paper ghost. He dozen quotes, who took my
- 56:21Speaker 1: paw shamous from us? Then we'll take the SETTI not
- 56:28Speaker 1: just revenge, not justice, domination. Find your guns, kiss your
- 56:37Speaker 1: way ones, and your wives. We're going to warm it.
- 56:41Speaker 1: Lots the people freak out. Whoa yeah, start to cheer.
- 56:50Speaker 1: O man, Okay, so that was my question. Yeah.
- 56:53Speaker 6: Do I get the sense that these guys are all
- 56:57Speaker 6: like into it as well?
- 56:59Speaker 1: Yeah, they seem pretty pumped. He looks over then off
- 57:06Speaker 1: the stage just a man changed to the wall, and
- 57:11Speaker 1: you see a very disheveled and unkempt gabrielle venashor ho ho,
- 57:20Speaker 1: and he says, you make suits for my men. If
- 57:24Speaker 1: we're going to take this city, we're going to look
- 57:26Speaker 1: good doing it.
- 57:28Speaker 4: I mean he gets it.
- 57:29Speaker 1: Yeah, we respect and that's your patrol. Yeah, Jason.
- 57:41Speaker 6: Jason grips like a railing uptop as the phantom like
- 57:46Speaker 6: lurches forward, wanting to just attack all hundred of these
- 57:50Speaker 6: guys and cut them to shreds. But Jason is clinging
- 57:53Speaker 6: to a steel pipe. No no, no, no, no no, no, no,
- 57:55Speaker 6: no no no. We can get help, we can get
- 57:58Speaker 6: back up, we can we can kill them. We can
- 58:01Speaker 6: kill them. I want to cut them to bases. They
- 58:04Speaker 6: threatened our home.
- 58:05Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I got it. I got it.
- 58:08Speaker 1: Just just chill, just chill, chill. I know, back off
- 58:14Speaker 1: sounds good. Let's jump into unmasked life. Whoa Jamiir would
- 58:22Speaker 1: you give to unmasked life? I did too, got it?
- 58:26Speaker 1: Got it?
- 58:26Speaker 7: So I would try to pick up at least a
- 58:29Speaker 7: couple shifts of delivery of deliveries. I'm still just trying to,
- 58:33Speaker 7: like again, have the semblance of like I have no
- 58:37Speaker 7: work to make money, like I'm still a double guy.
- 58:41Speaker 7: But would try to spend at least two nights out
- 58:44Speaker 7: of seven sleeping over at my parents' house. And I
- 58:50Speaker 7: also would m there's a lot I want to do.
- 58:55Speaker 7: I don't know if I can fit tell you. I
- 58:56Speaker 7: know I can't get scenes of all these but things
- 59:00Speaker 7: that Jimmyer would want to do in a week, Spend
- 59:03Speaker 7: some time with the family, work a little. I really
- 59:06Speaker 7: want to drop off a note to Jackie, But I
- 59:10Speaker 7: don't know if I have time for that. That's maybe
- 59:12Speaker 7: my lowest priority. Maybe I'm just thinking about that more.
- 59:16Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 59:17Speaker 7: Yeah, Like like he's the Jamir in the back of
- 59:19Speaker 7: his mind is I'm doing my deliveries, I'm flying around
- 59:21Speaker 7: the city. I'm thinking, like, how could I anonymously tip
- 59:25Speaker 7: Jackie off to some of the stuff I'm learning, So
- 59:30Speaker 7: that that that's.
- 59:31Speaker 1: In Jamier's mind.
- 59:32Speaker 7: But the other thing I would want to do is
- 59:35Speaker 7: meet up with I mean probably not. I would definitely
- 59:39Speaker 7: mention it to Jason, but I doubt it would be
- 59:41Speaker 7: more relevant to him. But I would talk to Quanta
- 59:45Speaker 7: about how I think it's time we upgraded our outfits.
- 59:50Speaker 1: Yes, is that part of your thread chasing? Oh yeah, okay,
- 59:53Speaker 1: so we can save that for thread chasing.
- 59:55Speaker 4: To me, we're chasing those threads.
- 59:57Speaker 1: Litter so hungry. So I think we'll do family hangout
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: and you keep up with your work a little bit.
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: I think if you, I think I think your job
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: is the kind of job that if you don't show up,
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: they just give your route to someone else.
- 1:00:17Speaker 7: Yeah, so more work, more and more money for the
- 1:00:20Speaker 7: other delivery boys.
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: Right, So I think that you you do at least
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: show up to work a few days and get a
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: few routes in on A two and then yeah you
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: have uh you spend time with your family. I want
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: to uh hone in and get a little specific on
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: one of your family outings. I also want to explain
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: the shoot a little bit, because I know we have
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: done so in Your Origin. But just in case for
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: people that haven't listen to that, did you go back
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: and listen to the Origins? Everyone? They're on our Patreon.
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: There's a few references to them, even in this episode,
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: with Quanta's vision and the shoot and even the killing
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: of Seamus that the paper Phantom did.
- 1:01:03Speaker 3: To go back and listen to spoilers for the past.
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: The backstory we they I already said it anyway, Sorry everyone,
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: big spoilers for the Origins. Decades ago, when the massive
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: space barges were being launched into space, the Shoote protected
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: the people of the city from the fiery exhaust necessary
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: to propel these behemoth passenger carriers out of the atmosphere.
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: When the space barge program was defunded and buried, all
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: of the displaced workers moved into the Hute. This included
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: some very brilliant engineers. One thing they did with their
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: time and resources was create shoot Ball.
- 1:02:05Speaker 4: I'm ready for this.
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: A strip of the Shute Jamir that is close to
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: the station was converted to what's known as the Ring.
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: The northern half of the ring is the original shoot concrete,
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: and the southern half had to be built into a
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: symmetrical curve that met the shoot ceiling and floor. The
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: shoot is a quarter mile wide, so it's enormous, so
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: they couldn't play the game that far, so they had
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: to build kind of a secondary loop in there. The
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: concrete was ground down, sanded, and polished to be smooth
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: enough for inline and four wheel roller skates. But the
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: amazing thing about shoot ball is halfway up the rounded
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: shoot wall on both sides, old gravitational tech from the
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: space era was installed by the displaced and disgruntled in engineers.
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: So if you skate fast enough up the wall from
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: the ground level, the gravity switches and you begin to
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: fall upwards. If you take enough care, you can use
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: that as momentum to start skating quickly on the ceiling
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: of the shoot. The goals are on the curved corners
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: where the wall becomes the ceiling, so players have to
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: utilize that gravitational switch. The ball was designed specially to
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: float in between both gravitational polls. Left alone, it drifts
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: towards the middle. But as you can imagine, there's all
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: kind of shenanigans with gravity and throwing the ball one way,
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: trying to curve it around people to get into the
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: goal using the gravitational pull. The other rule is that
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: the ball cannot be handled. It must be struck with
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: an object of your choosing. List of approved objects has
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: gotten smaller and smaller over the years. Most people use
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: either a long or short poll, depending on their position.
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: I say all this to say that you are at
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: a match with your older sister Leah, to watch your
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: younger sister Lilah play shoot ball. Your sister Lilah is
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: on the shoot serpents and they are playing the Coso Condors. Yeah,
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: go Coso. There is a large group of people sitting
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: around in the bleachers here that do rise up kind
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: of like an arena on either side of this ring.
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: And your sister a Liah is here with you. All right,
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: all right, here we go shooters. The strugle we're made
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: of and I love coming to these. Leah says, oh yeah,
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: oh yeah, good, good, clean fun. As long as I'm
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: definitely like watching the Coasto players. I'm a big home
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: omer and Jamiir definitely believes that other teams play dirtier
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: than our team. Yeah, Leah says yeah, And then, honestly,
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: I'm not as worried about the COSO as I am
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: about that ref. I know that that ref that ref
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: lives in SaaS, and I don't trust his ass.
- 1:05:18Speaker 7: No, no, oh no, I think most of the refs
- 1:05:20Speaker 7: are shit. But hopefully our domination will overpower the ref
- 1:05:24Speaker 7: ball they're gonna.
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: Throw at us. That's all we can hope. Right, Always is,
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: always is Golina. You guys are cheering. Come on, Lila,
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: come on, speed girl. Over the course of the evening,
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: the matches take about an hour and a half or so.
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: These these shoot Serpents, let's roll for it. Let's just
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: roll D twenty highest wins, very simple mechanics only.
- 1:05:53Speaker 4: I'll use my least, my least trustworthy die Ben.
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: You should roll for the shoots. I'm rolling eight eleven.
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: It's a close game, but the shoot Serpents on an
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: ending goal from your sister Lilah, take the win.
- 1:06:14Speaker 3: The COSO condors have like logos on their sleeves that
- 1:06:19Speaker 3: are like supported by clank industries and just like a
- 1:06:22Speaker 3: big hot dog.
- 1:06:25Speaker 4: And they're all like kicking the floor.
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: Throw their hot dogs on the ground like cooso.
- 1:06:35Speaker 7: Yeah, it's a long walk home, piece of trash.
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: They're backing up. Shoot ball can only be played in
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: the shoot and so but I think generally it's it's
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: a happy meeting other except for when Kno comes. Then
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: it gets the most chippy. You and your sister Leah
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: take Lila to a bar close by afterward for drinks
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: to celebrate. What's the drinking age in New Bamble Slash
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: the shoot? It is twenty one, But in the shoot
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: there are no police, and so there are shoot bars
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: where your sister can certainly drink. Your younger sister.
- 1:07:23Speaker 7: She's like, she's like, what seventeen eighteen seventeen? All right,
- 1:07:28Speaker 7: now you can't tell dad about this, but you can
- 1:07:30Speaker 7: have one drink.
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: Okay, okay, thanks, thanks, Yeah, appreciate it.
- 1:07:36Speaker 7: Yeah, mob would probably not really care, but definitely don't
- 1:07:39Speaker 7: tell Dad.
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: Yeah I wouldn't. I don't even tell them. I play
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: for the serpents.
- 1:07:45Speaker 7: They would forgell no, No, that's wise, But I mean,
- 1:07:53Speaker 7: what's your plan when they find out? I mean, you're
- 1:07:56Speaker 7: pretty good. I'm not gonna lie word heard my get back.
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean it's not like it could. It's not
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: like I'm gonna go more pro. This is the only
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: I mean, I guess you're right. Maybe I should start
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: wearing a pseudonym. Huh. I mean the cool nickname is
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: always fun anyway. But yeah, man, I wish, I wish
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: this could be like an international sport.
- 1:08:23Speaker 7: It really does capture the spirit of athletics in a
- 1:08:26Speaker 7: unique way.
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: Hmmm, that's an interesting touch to.
- 1:08:30Speaker 7: Meir's like wistful, like kind of ignoing his sisters for
- 1:08:36Speaker 7: a little bit, just thinking about, like what would like
- 1:08:38Speaker 7: an international system look like regulatory bore for you need
- 1:08:43Speaker 7: to get different shoots.
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: Of Jamir's mind. It's stupider than I thought. Leah looks
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: up and the TV's on and it's showing news footage
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: of Cordula Soma making her herself taking a truck of
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: fruit and veggies into the city and giving it to
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: the needy, and Leah looks up at it and is
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: a little bit you can tell she's kind of a
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: little exasperated and rolls her eyes a little bit. Hill,
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: what was that? What was that? Oh, Jamiir's just it's
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: a stunt. You know, it's all stunt for political gain,
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: Like what does she want? What does she want to do? No, no, no,
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: She's giving away food for free to people who need
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: the vitamin C and the yummy, yummy fruit tose that
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: those fruits hold.
- 1:09:36Speaker 7: Okay, so I want to hear it. The Core gang.
- 1:09:40Speaker 7: They're not perfect, but lately they've been killing it.
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, I know, Jamiir, They've made a ton of
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: promises to us. First though, you know, like, sure, they're
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: providing food, but what if they started selling that food
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: in the city instead of giving it away and increasing
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: our quality of life in the shoot or destroying the
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: shoot altogether, break down the walls. No to be part
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: of the city. No no, no, no, no, no no. I
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: look around a picture. No one's listening. No, no one's listening. Leah,
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: Could you dude know where the fuck we are right now? Yeah?
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: I know where we are. I live, I grew up. Okay,
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: No one's tear it down the shoot. Okay. It's a thought,
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: it's an idea that could happen.
- 1:10:26Speaker 7: It's a bad idea. Where do you getting this? We
- 1:10:30Speaker 7: can't tear this thing down. We would we'd be absorbed
- 1:10:34Speaker 7: by fucking Colorado South, or by ask or I don't know.
- 1:10:39Speaker 7: They would have just let this neighborhood continue if the
- 1:10:43Speaker 7: if the walls weren't torn down.
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: Lila chimes in, would you too? Stop? This is we're
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: celebrating me tonight. Okay, I got a good goal. You
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: two are always at each other's throats. She takes that
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: middle child angle really hard. Right now. It's just like,
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: could you guys please, It's just like, let's enjoy this shot.
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: I don't do this much because I can't in the city.
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: I love it, nor should you. This is literal poison.
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: It's bad for a growing brain, but in small doses
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: it's fun. Okay, Okay, Jimmy, I know, and I trust you.
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: I'm not going crazy. You brought me here. I'm just
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: saying the two.
- 1:11:20Speaker 7: Of you, I know, but I still need to lecture
- 1:11:23Speaker 7: you while I'm breaking our beard's ruled.
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: Okay, Okay, I understand. I love you guys, and thank
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: you for coming to my game. It means a lot.
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: I receive your love. You and your siblings have a
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: nice night out. Yeah we do. Uh, Bronnie unmasked life
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: for you.
- 1:11:41Speaker 3: I gave zero, but I would love if you would
- 1:11:53Speaker 3: allow maybe that same name that I'm zipping through became
- 1:11:58Speaker 3: became lightning in the storm. I think where I end
- 1:12:01Speaker 3: is like close to my mom's neighborhood. So the lightning
- 1:12:05Speaker 3: and the thunder are still crashing and rumbling, and I
- 1:12:12Speaker 3: stop striking through the city and just kind of like
- 1:12:16Speaker 3: slink closer to my mom's house and just try to
- 1:12:20Speaker 3: like look in a window as the rain falls on me.
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: Yeah, you peak, damn you peek in the window through
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: the rain.
- 1:12:29Speaker 4: Brush my hand against nothing, and they.
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: Pull the blinds down because he got a zero.
- 1:12:40Speaker 4: All the pictures of me are gone.
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: Littering your mama. She is has a glass of white
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: wine in one hand.
- 1:12:52Speaker 4: Oh classic moms.
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: She and with her other hand she is massaging Sandy's
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: shoulder and then witches to her other shoulder as Sandy
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: just kind of has yeah. She she is pinching the
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: bridge of her nose. Classic and looking down. There's a
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: cube nearby and a glass of brandy nearby. They do
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: seem stressed, and then they roll the blinds down because
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: you add zero.
- 1:13:22Speaker 3: Jason, just some classic superhero self torture.
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: Yeah, I love it. I hate it. I love it.
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: I love it, but we need it. In Unmasked, I
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: put the most hot dog like number one. Uh huh,
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: what are you hoping to do?
- 1:13:40Speaker 2: Uh?
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: I think I'm gonna.
- 1:13:41Speaker 6: Phone in my job real hard. I think I just
- 1:13:45Speaker 6: want to like use my paper powers to just like
- 1:13:48Speaker 6: sort books and whatever.
- 1:13:50Speaker 2: Like.
- 1:13:50Speaker 6: You know, I don't be able to catch me, but
- 1:13:52Speaker 6: I also don't I'm I'm fucking it up probably, But
- 1:13:55Speaker 6: mainly I want to want to check back in with Arthur.
- 1:13:59Speaker 6: I gave him that book, and so I just want
- 1:14:03Speaker 6: to make sure he's he's chill, and also potentially relay
- 1:14:06Speaker 6: some of the info that I have about potential threats
- 1:14:09Speaker 6: to the library and see what he's doing.
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: You go up to Arthur Jason either, I'm ready ready
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: to talk.
- 1:14:19Speaker 6: Oh for real, I thought for sure you'd be dead.
- 1:14:23Speaker 6: What I just I don't know.
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: I'm eighty six years young. I'm doing great.
- 1:14:28Speaker 6: Yeah, you drink a lot of booze, and drink a
- 1:14:31Speaker 6: little booze. I don't drink it up like twice this month.
- 1:14:35Speaker 6: Yeah that was a long time ago. I'm doing better. Okay,
- 1:14:37Speaker 6: I'm ready to talk. He slaps down.
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: He slaps down a newspaper in front of your face,
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: where there's a picture of all three of you fighting
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: the Masterpiece. What does this beautiful snapshot look like? Y'all?
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: The Masterpiece has a giant alligator mouth and tentaclely arms.
- 1:14:57Speaker 3: What are you guys doing? I think I've got the
- 1:14:59Speaker 3: laving whip around its snout. I'm pulling back on it.
- 1:15:04Speaker 3: And I feel like, because because it's a newspaper picture,
- 1:15:08Speaker 3: that that like light of the rope is like the.
- 1:15:13Speaker 4: The lightning on the rope if it's black and white.
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like.
- 1:15:16Speaker 3: Just like casting like a bright light and then like
- 1:15:20Speaker 3: stark shadows of all of us and the Masterpiece around us.
- 1:15:27Speaker 6: I would assume Jason is like awkwardly just standing arms
- 1:15:33Speaker 6: now it doesn't know what to do with his arms,
- 1:15:36Speaker 6: like just at his sides, almost like like thumbs up.
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: Let's say he's doing thumbs up at the camera. Wow,
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: you guys are fighting the master Oh this is during
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: the fight.
- 1:15:46Speaker 6: This like we got to pose with it like a fish. No, no, okay,
- 1:15:53Speaker 6: yeah yeah, then in that case, i'll, yeah, I'll have
- 1:15:55Speaker 6: have a paper swords like slashing slashing into him.
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: Awesome.
- 1:16:01Speaker 7: Yeah, Jamie will have his fist cocked back, teeth clenched,
- 1:16:06Speaker 7: a little maybe a little bit of magical glow around
- 1:16:09Speaker 7: one of his fists.
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: A reporter from the Tower got this amazing shot of
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: the three of you fighting the masterpiece. Arthur slams it
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: down on the table in front of you. Jason says,
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: bring your friends. They need to hear.
- 1:16:23Speaker 6: Oh, okay, sure, let me just turn the lights on
- 1:16:28Speaker 6: and off sequentially, give me a second.
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: Does that work? I don't know, Maybe it doesn't have
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: to be the same night. You can whatever you want
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: to do, all right, Well, but you're gonna die immediately
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: the brink of death. We'll put you guys together back
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: at the at the library. Tell you to what how
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: do how do Ronnie and Jamier show up to this?
- 1:16:55Speaker 7: I would ask Jason, how much have you already told
- 1:16:59Speaker 7: this guy about us?
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: Like, like, does he know who we are? Be honest
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: with me please?
- 1:17:05Speaker 9: Uh?
- 1:17:05Speaker 6: I mean I think he's a general sense, but he
- 1:17:08Speaker 6: also I think he has he knows more than he's
- 1:17:11Speaker 6: letting on me. And like, I don't know if you're
- 1:17:12Speaker 6: gonna be able to trick this guy, Like I would
- 1:17:15Speaker 6: just I've never really been able to hide anything from him,
- 1:17:19Speaker 6: So I mean, do you do whatever you feel safe doing.
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: All right, let's have this meeting late.
- 1:17:24Speaker 3: I'm out of patrol around the church and I just
- 1:17:27Speaker 3: feel like this, like annoying, like on off on off,
- 1:17:30Speaker 3: on off on off, coming from the library, and I'm like, ah,
- 1:17:36Speaker 3: and head to the library. And as I get closer,
- 1:17:39Speaker 3: I start uh, skating on electrical wires rather than than
- 1:17:45Speaker 3: lightning to be a little bit quieter to get to
- 1:17:48Speaker 3: the roof. And then since I've been to Jason's room,
- 1:17:51Speaker 3: like just kind of sneak my way in through the
- 1:17:52Speaker 3: roof and end up in Jason's room.
- 1:17:54Speaker 6: Where I'm just pulling a light switch stop in here. Yeah,
- 1:17:58Speaker 6: but now I've gotten into a rhythm, you know, click, Yeah, I.
- 1:18:03Speaker 7: Think Jamir, which when he shows up, he's wearing black sweats,
- 1:18:08Speaker 7: nondescript sneakers, black hoodie tightened up very tightly so that
- 1:18:17Speaker 7: you can barely see the hint of some sort of
- 1:18:22Speaker 7: mask of some kind covering his face.
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: And I'm wearing gloves too. Okay, you are hiding your
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: fingered gloves to hide my fingy prints. I'm trying to Yeah,
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: I'm trying to come in sneakyeky. Are you hiding your visage? Yes, okay, yeah,
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: got it. Arthur invites the three of you to a
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: table on the second floor of the library where the
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: books start down. On the first floor, it's just tables
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: and cubbies and places to read and you know, cases
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: for older books. But on the second floor you start
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: to get those aisles and aisles of tomes. Arthur looks
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: at all three of you. Hello, my name's Arthur, Arthur Wright.
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: You do not have to tell me your name. Do
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: not have to show me your face. I get it,
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: it's fine.
- 1:19:18Speaker 4: Just kind of make eye contact with Jason and jamr Wow, he's.
- 1:19:21Speaker 6: Got a library card, I pointed to Jim heir, I have,
- 1:19:23Speaker 6: we've got his info.
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: Hush, do you have.
- 1:19:26Speaker 4: A library card, Rennie?
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: Yeah, Jason, Jason, I don't need to know. I don't
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: need to know. He looks at the two of you seriously.
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: Thank you for taking care of Jason. He handles himself
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: pretty well, I know, but there will be times when
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: he needs you. Well we've needed him, that's true. Shut up, Arthur.
- 1:19:53Speaker 4: We also have to clean up in the kitchen after him.
- 1:19:55Speaker 4: A lot so if you could.
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: Oh, do I know it? Okay, do I know it?
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: There's eyes start welling a little bit with tears as
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: he talks to you. He blinks away the water and says, okay,
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: let's do it. Everything that I'm about to tell you
- 1:20:15Speaker 1: is subject to falsehood and query. Magic is not a history.
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: It is not even a myth. It is a system
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: of power. And the system is taught in story. But
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: that says nothing of the historical accuracy of the tale.
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: And one last thing. You may have questions about the
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: hero Spellbook. Jamir sits up a little. I will say
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: a fact or two about Spellbook, and then we'll not
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: speak of him any further. There is old magic and
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: there is new magic, and we'll end our episode right there.
- 1:21:38Speaker 6: Well, oh my god, Arthur fucked Spellbook. What are we
- 1:21:43Speaker 6: gonna learn next time? Probably exactly.
- 1:21:47Speaker 4: I think he nailed it.
- 1:21:48Speaker 3: The two things, the two things he tells us about
- 1:21:51Speaker 3: the able book are we fucked in the library, and
- 1:21:55Speaker 3: then we fucked in the library again.
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: I fucked Spellbook twice. That's too bad, says, This is
