- 0:00Speaker 1: The Hodaki Big Show. Thanks to Craveworthy Street Food. Freshly
- 0:05Speaker 1: made with Reburger. Welcome to the Hodaki Big.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Show with Jason Hoyt, Mike.
- 0:14Speaker 1: Minogue and Keezy.
- 0:17Speaker 2: Oh, g'day, you mad bastards. Great to have your company
- 0:21Speaker 2: this Monday afternoon. It is the, ah, what is the
- 0:24Speaker 2: date here? Ah, the 28th of September, 2026. And you,
- 0:29Speaker 2: my friends, as always, listening to The Big Show, brought
- 0:32Speaker 2: to you by Reburger.
- 0:34Speaker 3: Crave-worthy street food freshly made with Reburger. Ah, that's really
- 0:39Speaker 3: quite yummy.
- 0:40Speaker 2: Yeah, great stuff. God, you're looking good at the moment, Moge.
- 0:43Speaker 2: Have you been working out?
- 0:45Speaker 4: Do you know a funny story there, Jizz? Or should
- 0:48Speaker 4: I call you the birthday boy, but we'll get to that.
- 0:51Speaker 4: I went to the gym today and I forgot to
- 0:55Speaker 4: take any of my gym clothes.
- 0:57Speaker 2: Okay.
- 0:58Speaker 3: So that was cool. Yeah, that's great stuff. So have
- 1:01Speaker 3: I been to the gym? Yes, I have. Have I
- 1:02Speaker 3: done any exercise? No, I have not. It was one
- 1:04Speaker 3: of the more brief trips to the gym I've been to.
- 1:07Speaker 2: Just to sort of wander around.
- 1:09Speaker 3: Just wander around.
- 1:09Speaker 4: God, there's some naked men in there, Keezy. If you
- 1:11Speaker 4: get the chance, brother. I know you don't like exercising
- 1:13Speaker 4: or belonging to gyms. But, man, you're missing out.
- 1:17Speaker 3: Well, if I could skip all that stuff and just
- 1:18Speaker 3: get straight to the naked dude. Exactly.
- 1:20Speaker 2: Yeah, well, that's right. That's right.
- 1:21Speaker 3: Keen.
- 1:22Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, very keen.
- 1:22Speaker 3: I don't know if you asked me.
- 1:24Speaker 2: How I am.
- 1:24Speaker 3: I'm going good, fellas.
- 1:25Speaker 2: Yeah, good. Wow.
- 1:26Speaker 3: You're looking good. Thank you.
- 1:27Speaker 2: You had your baby shower.
- 1:28Speaker 3: On Friday.
- 1:30Speaker 2: Slash golf day on Friday.
- 1:32Speaker 3: Yeah, it's amazing.
- 1:32Speaker 2: And a big weekend, you said.
- 1:33Speaker 3: The way they combined the two was really amazing. But
- 1:36Speaker 3: family first, guys. I've always said that. So apologies for
- 1:38Speaker 3: not being here Friday. Did you get a few beers
- 1:40Speaker 3: on you, man? Oh, yeah.
- 1:42Speaker 2: One or two.
- 1:43Speaker 3: Nerve settlers for the father. I was just there to help.
- 1:45Speaker 2: The father-in-law, you mean?
- 1:47Speaker 3: The father-in-law. You know, there are various fathers. Yes, yes.
- 1:50Speaker 3: But hey, Jase.
- 1:51Speaker 2: Yeah, man. Hey. Hey.
- 1:53Speaker 3: How are you?
- 1:54Speaker 2: Yeah, good, thanks, man. Can't complain. Just, you know, another
- 1:57Speaker 2: day at the office, isn't it? Doing a great radio
- 2:01Speaker 2: show for all the listeners out there. I'm fired up.
- 2:05Speaker 3: Of course, Mogi had sold Jase's birthday, man. Yeah, I know.
- 2:09Speaker 4: I didn't know. But, Jase, I've never seen you so happy, man.
- 2:12Speaker 4: You're cock-a-hoop. Nobody loves a birthday more than a hoity-jizz,
- 2:16Speaker 4: and no one loves a birthday more than a hoity-jizz
- 2:18Speaker 4: when it's his own birthday.
- 2:19Speaker 3: That's the best birthday of all the birthdays. And since
- 2:22Speaker 3: we've come in here, he has been loving it. Yep,
- 2:25Speaker 3: strutting around. And it's great to see, man. It's great
- 2:27Speaker 3: to see, because you're getting on.
- 2:28Speaker 2: Yeah, look, I'm not getting any younger, that's for sure.
- 2:38Speaker 4: Unbelievable amount of stuff that we've got to talk about today.
- 2:41Speaker 4: I've got a bone to pick. There could be some
- 2:43Speaker 4: tomato chat, all sorts of different things. But really, Jase,
- 2:47Speaker 4: you've insisted that we concentrate at the top of the show.
- 2:50Speaker 4: I mean, Keezy and I sort of thought, you know,
- 2:52Speaker 4: here and now is probably enough. But you're insisting that
- 2:56Speaker 4: we do a couple of breaks on your birthday.
- 2:57Speaker 2: No, no, no.
- 2:59Speaker 3: Come on, fellas. Because you've written it here in the planner.
- 3:02Speaker 2: Fellas, fellas, fellas. Well, look, we'll get it over and
- 3:07Speaker 2: done with in the very first break, all right? How's
- 3:10Speaker 2: that sound? Because I'll be honest with you, I don't
- 3:12Speaker 2: want to fuss. I don't want any fuss. It's just
- 3:16Speaker 2: another day at the office, all right?
- 3:18Speaker 3: To me it is, 100%. Oh, look, but....
- 3:20Speaker 2: I mean, things like this. This is special. Starting my
- 3:24Speaker 2: birthday show off with a bit of Green Day.
- 3:26Speaker 3: How good.
- 3:27Speaker 1: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 3:31Speaker 2: Liam Gallagher there on the Hauraki Big Show this Monday afternoon.
- 3:35Speaker 2: The time is 12 minutes past 4. And as we
- 3:37Speaker 2: mentioned at the top of the show, fellas, yes, it
- 3:39Speaker 2: is my birthday. But if it's okay with you guys,
- 3:42Speaker 2: I don't want to make a big fuss about it.
- 3:45Speaker 2: For me, it's just another day, and it's just shell
- 3:48Speaker 2: as usual as far as I'm concerned. I know in
- 3:50Speaker 2: the past, like when it's your guy's birthday, you like
- 3:54Speaker 2: to get people to text in on 3483 with birthday
- 3:58Speaker 2: wishes and stuff, and, you know, oh, you could win
- 4:00Speaker 2: yourself a $ 50 Reburg gear voucher or whatever. Let's not
- 4:04Speaker 2: worry about that today. As I say, I don't want
- 4:07Speaker 2: to make a big deal of it. Let's just keep
- 4:09Speaker 2: moving on and doing the show and doing quality radio.
- 4:12Speaker 3: Of course, but so you're saying you don't want people
- 4:14Speaker 3: to text you on 3483, say happy birthday, and then
- 4:17Speaker 3: get a Reburger voucher.
- 4:17Speaker 2: Look, I appreciate the fact that people are really busy
- 4:20Speaker 2: at the moment. They've got a lot going on.
- 4:21Speaker 3: They do.
- 4:22Speaker 2: So you know what I mean? I mean, they can
- 4:23Speaker 2: text about anything they want. And if by chance they do, well,
- 4:27Speaker 2: that's all G. That's fine. And they could win a
- 4:29Speaker 2: $ 50 Reburger voucher. But I'm just saying don't go out
- 4:33Speaker 2: of your way to do that because there's a lot
- 4:35Speaker 2: going on. It's Monday. People are a bit frazzled.
- 4:39Speaker 4: Yeah, I'd agree with that, man. You know, this being
- 4:41Speaker 4: sort of a case in point, you know, you don't
- 4:43Speaker 4: want to bang on about it.
- 4:44Speaker 2: Totally, man.
- 4:45Speaker 3: People sort of sitting in their cars or they're at work,
- 4:47Speaker 3: for example, and sort of listening to someone bang on
- 4:49Speaker 3: about it, either being their birthday and make a big
- 4:52Speaker 3: deal or don't make a big deal. It doesn't make
- 4:55Speaker 3: for great listening, does it?
- 4:56Speaker 2: Totally.
- 4:56Speaker 3: I think you just acknowledge it. Yes. You leave it
- 4:58Speaker 3: at that.
- 4:58Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 4:59Speaker 3: And we can just move on.
- 5:00Speaker 2: Thank you, yeah.
- 5:01Speaker 3: Sorry, Jase. People are also starting to text in already
- 5:05Speaker 3: on 3483, getting themselves in the draw for Reburger.
- 5:07Speaker 2: Look, as I say, as I say, if that's... Well,
- 5:10Speaker 2: you know, like this one... If people are going to
- 5:11Speaker 2: do that, then that's fine.
- 5:13Speaker 3: Well, maybe I'll just read out a couple and that'll
- 5:14Speaker 3: sort of nip it in the bud.
- 5:15Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, good.
- 5:16Speaker 3: So... So this one here from Bruce. Happy birthday, Jase.
- 5:27Speaker 2: Thanks, Bruce.
- 5:29Speaker 3: That took a bit of thought, that one. Yeah, it's nice. Heartfelt. G'day, guys.
- 5:35Speaker 3: Cheers for sharing my birthday, Adrian. So it's his birthday
- 5:39Speaker 3: as well. Oh, you've only got half a birthday then. Really,
- 5:42Speaker 3: haven't you?
- 5:43Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 5:43Speaker 3: Hey, happy birthday, Adrian.
- 5:45Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, man. Whatever.
- 5:49Speaker 3: Happy birthday, Jase. Also, guess what? It's Monday... It's from Ben.
- 5:55Speaker 3: That's good stuff. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm glad that you
- 5:57Speaker 3: decided not to have these because they are kind of punishing.
- 5:59Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what I mean. That's what I mean.
- 6:01Speaker 4: What about this one here? Not a big deal, but
- 6:03Speaker 4: a happy birthday.
- 6:04Speaker 2: Yeah, totally. Yeah, look, as I say, if people are
- 6:07Speaker 2: going to do it, then that's fine. I'm just saying
- 6:09Speaker 2: don't go out of your way to do it and
- 6:11Speaker 2: win yourself a $ 50 Reburger voucher is all I'm saying.
- 6:13Speaker 3: Well, look, this one here is clearly taking the piss
- 6:15Speaker 3: as well. Happy birthday to New Zealand's number one top
- 6:17Speaker 3: radio DJ.
- 6:18Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:19Speaker 3: You know, that's just someone taking the piss.
- 6:21Speaker 2: That's just good humour, isn't it?
- 6:24Speaker 3: But good call. They are pouring in now.
- 6:27Speaker 2: Hey, but listen, fellas, come on, please. As I say,
- 6:30Speaker 2: I don't want to focus on that.
- 6:32Speaker 3: No.
- 6:33Speaker 2: Let's get back to the business at hand.
- 6:35Speaker 3: Okay, so just quickly, speaking of birthday business, how old
- 6:38Speaker 3: are you?
- 6:42Speaker 2: This is what I mean. We get bogged down in
- 6:44Speaker 2: all the details and the numbers. It's just another day, Kizzy.
- 6:47Speaker 2: It doesn't matter how old. And that's actually very rude
- 6:50Speaker 2: to ask.
- 6:51Speaker 3: All right, cool. We're going to go to a song,
- 6:52Speaker 3: but when we come back, I need to clarify because
- 6:55Speaker 3: a lot of people ask me that question, Jase.
- 6:57Speaker 2: How old you are.
- 6:58Speaker 3: How old is he, really?
- 7:00Speaker 2: You're about 34 or 35, aren't you, Kizzy? No, no, no, you.
- 7:03Speaker 3: Oh, right.
- 7:06Speaker 1: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 7:10Speaker 1: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 7:12Speaker 2: Kings of Leon there on the Hauraki Big Show this
- 7:15Speaker 2: Monday afternoon. The time, 24 minutes past 4 o'clock.
- 7:18Speaker 3: And keep those happy birthday Jase texts coming in on 3483.
- 7:22Speaker 2: As I say, don't go out of your way. Just
- 7:24Speaker 2: get on with it.
- 7:25Speaker 3: But you keep them coming in. We might read more
- 7:26Speaker 3: of those later and we're going to dish out some
- 7:27Speaker 3: Reburger vouchers. This is the big question, though. Jase, how
- 7:31Speaker 3: old are you turning, man? Because for some reason, details
- 7:34Speaker 3: are pretty dicey around your birthday.
- 7:36Speaker 2: I don't know why.
- 7:37Speaker 3: Yeah, like, Mogi, I know you are 49. Yeah, that's right.
- 7:40Speaker 4: You're turning 50 this year. I'm turning 50 this year.
- 7:42Speaker 4: I thought it was pretty clear what Jase was. We've
- 7:44Speaker 4: been talking about that for years.
- 7:45Speaker 3: Thank you, Mogi.
- 7:45Speaker 2: Yeah, totally, totally.
- 7:47Speaker 3: I'm 35.
- 7:47Speaker 2: You don't look any more than 43, by the way, Mogi.
- 7:50Speaker 3: Oh, thanks, mate.
- 7:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:51Speaker 3: I'm 35. Pugs is 30. You know, so I know
- 7:54Speaker 3: exactly where everyone stands.
- 7:56Speaker 2: We're all like– it's kind of like– 5, 10, 15. Yeah,
- 7:59Speaker 2: it's all sort of evenly spaced out.
- 8:00Speaker 3: I'm sort of bugging it up. Totally.
- 8:02Speaker 2: Yeah, you're a little bit outside the kind of range,
- 8:05Speaker 2: but still, you know, within range.
- 8:06Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:07Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying?
- 8:08Speaker 5: Sure, sure.
- 8:08Speaker 3: And I think that's really why.
- 8:10Speaker 2: The– sorry, Keezy. I think that's why– The show works
- 8:15Speaker 2: so well. Oh, yeah, yeah. You know what I mean?
- 8:17Speaker 3: All sorts of points of view.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Yeah, different sort of, not generations even, just sort of
- 8:23Speaker 2: five-year blocks. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You're a bunch of fellas.
- 8:26Speaker 3: How old are you, man?
- 8:27Speaker 2: Because.
- 8:28Speaker 3: I think if we just know once and for all
- 8:30Speaker 3: how old you are, I think that would just, a
- 8:31Speaker 3: lot of people would shut up and stop wondering.
- 8:33Speaker 2: Yeah, well, no, that's fair enough, Keith. And as Mogi said,
- 8:36Speaker 2: it's been very clear from the outset. I'm sort of baffled,
- 8:39Speaker 2: to be honest, as to why there is any kind
- 8:44Speaker 2: of confusion about it. It's been pretty out there for
- 8:48Speaker 2: a long time.
- 8:48Speaker 3: Okay, so 2022, this is what you said. You're sort
- 8:51Speaker 3: of in that age as well, Jase, because you're 40, right?
- 8:53Speaker 2: Well, 41, mate. What?
- 8:54Speaker 3: When did that happen? 41, mate.
- 8:57Speaker 2: Are you 41?
- 8:58Speaker 3: When was your birthday?
- 8:59Speaker 2: Seriously, I can hardly believe it.
- 9:01Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 9:01Speaker 2: I can hardly believe it.
- 9:02Speaker 3: 41? Yeah. Are you kidding me? I'm finding that hard
- 9:06Speaker 3: to believe as well.
- 9:06Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. Jeez. I mean, seriously, time just flies past,
- 9:13Speaker 2: doesn't it?
- 9:13Speaker 3: Oh, it does. It does. That's true.
- 9:15Speaker 2: Because what are you, Kesey?
- 9:16Speaker 3: 31. Oh, right.
- 9:17Speaker 2: See, bugger all between us.
- 9:19Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 9:20Speaker 2: Bugger all between us.
- 9:21Speaker 3: When did you turn 41? Pardon? That was in 2022.
- 9:23Speaker 3: That was in 2022. You know what I mean? So
- 9:26Speaker 3: you can see why I'm confused.
- 9:28Speaker 2: One of the prevailing things that our society is. having
- 9:34Speaker 2: to grapple with at the moment. And we've talked about
- 9:36Speaker 2: it a little bit on the show, AI. And it's
- 9:40Speaker 2: amazing what people can create. You know what I mean?
- 9:44Speaker 3: So you're suggesting that this was also created, this was
- 9:47Speaker 3: ripped from our very podcast, 2023. Today is officially Hoity
- 9:49Speaker 3: J's birthday, 43 years of age. So a round of applause.
- 9:51Speaker 3: 43 there.
- 9:51Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:59Speaker 3: You know, I thought you were 39 a minute ago,
- 10:02Speaker 3: and now you're 43, and then there's this from a
- 10:05Speaker 3: couple of years ago. It was Hoity J's birthday on Saturday,
- 10:07Speaker 3: he turned 40. It was already marginal enough for me
- 10:10Speaker 3: to go and get durries and stick them in it, Jase,
- 10:12Speaker 3: so you can take them unlit in the studio.
- 10:14Speaker 5: But three for three after 40, brother.
- 10:16Speaker 3: Happy birthday. Get on your legs. 43?
- 10:20Speaker 2: Yeah, thanks, fellas. I really appreciate it.
- 10:22Speaker 3: 43 there.
- 10:23Speaker 2: You know, one of the things that I've always been
- 10:25Speaker 2: taught in life is you've got to have mystery. You know,
- 10:29Speaker 2: you've got to have stuff going. And I like to
- 10:33Speaker 2: keep people slightly wrong-footed all the time. Because, Keezy, I
- 10:36Speaker 2: don't know if you've ever noticed this, Mogi.
- 10:38Speaker 3: Turn this on to me.
- 10:39Speaker 2: Answer the question. There's always been fascinated by my age.
- 10:43Speaker 3: Yes.
- 10:44Speaker 2: Age is just a number. Have you ever heard that phrase, Keezy?
- 10:47Speaker 3: I'm fascinated because Wikipedia says one thing and then it's
- 10:50Speaker 3: different and then I ask you and then you're this
- 10:51Speaker 3: age and then you go backwards and forwards and then
- 10:53Speaker 3: I just don't know what to believe. I guess the
- 10:54Speaker 3: only thing that matters really is how old do you feel, Jase?
- 10:57Speaker 2: Oh, look, if I'm being honest with you, I feel
- 10:59Speaker 2: in my 20s.
- 11:01Speaker 1: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 11:05Speaker 2: Soundgarden there on the Hauraki Big Show this Monday afternoon.
- 11:08Speaker 2: The time is 4.37.
- 11:15Speaker 3: It's Hoity J's birthday. Woo! How old are you, Jase? Regardless,
- 11:24Speaker 3: it's a tradition on the show to have a gift
- 11:26Speaker 3: brought in midway through the show.
- 11:28Speaker 2: I thought we were doing some excellent.
- 11:31Speaker 3: Nah, we'll do that later, man. There's always time for
- 11:33Speaker 3: excellent content later on the show. So we've organised for
- 11:37Speaker 3: you to combine two of your great lugs.
- 11:39Speaker 2: Oh, look at that.
- 11:40Speaker 3: It is a hot pot.
- 11:42Speaker 2: And radio.
- 11:43Speaker 3: And radio all at once.
- 11:46Speaker 2: I'm stoked.
- 11:47Speaker 3: Now, Pugs did choose the ingredients in the hot pot.
- 11:49Speaker 3: What did you go for, Pugs?
- 11:51Speaker 5: Jase, look, I don't know your favorite hot pot. So
- 11:54Speaker 5: I just kind of went for what I thought you
- 11:55Speaker 5: would like the most.
- 11:56Speaker 4: Yes.
- 11:57Speaker 2: Do I see some tofu in there, Pugs?
- 12:01Speaker 5: There's heaps of tofu in the hot pot.
- 12:02Speaker 3: Isn't it just tofu? It's only tofu.
- 12:08Speaker 2: Oh, thanks, fellas. I greatly appreciate that. And I'll enjoy
- 12:11Speaker 2: that probably for tonight's meal, actually.
- 12:13Speaker 3: Why don't we just share it? It seems like we
- 12:16Speaker 3: should just share. Look, it's pretty big. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 12:20Speaker 2: I mean, I don't want to.
- 12:21Speaker 3: I don't need any. I don't need any. Mogi, obviously,
- 12:24Speaker 3: is pretty damn good.
- 12:25Speaker 5: And you hate tofu, James. So I can just have that.
- 12:27Speaker 3: I've never tried that before.
- 12:29Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean. Look, I'll share it, I suppose.
- 12:32Speaker 3: Well, it won't take much to go get some bowls
- 12:33Speaker 3: out of the kitchen.
- 12:34Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 12:35Speaker 3: Go get some bowls.
- 12:35Speaker 2: Yeah, but we don't want to make a hoover of
- 12:37Speaker 2: a mess out there.
- 12:38Speaker 3: No, it's okay. It normally doesn't bother you, man.
- 12:39Speaker 2: You know, this is the thing.
- 12:41Speaker 3: You normally love making a mess. You do it every day, man.
- 12:42Speaker 2: People come in and have to clean up all that shit.
- 12:45Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying?
- 12:46Speaker 3: You clean up after yourself.
- 12:47Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, look at this. What are these?
- 12:48Speaker 2: I've never seen these sachets before.
- 12:50Speaker 5: That's tofu sachets.
- 12:51Speaker 2: But glad to see that you've got the chilli and
- 12:53Speaker 2: the coriander.
- 12:54Speaker 3: You're welcome.
- 12:55Speaker 2: That's great stuff, Pug.
- 12:56Speaker 3: Yeah, so happy birthday, man. Yeah, I'm looking forward to that.
- 12:58Speaker 3: So if you just get a few bowls for you,
- 13:00Speaker 3: Mogi and Pug-san, you can tuck into some hot pot tofu.
- 13:03Speaker 2: Hang on. Is this my prison or?
- 13:06Speaker 3: Well, I don't know. I mean, I'm not hungry. Yeah, thanks, man.
- 13:12Speaker 2: Oh, okay.
- 13:14Speaker 3: Happy birthday, mate.
- 13:15Speaker 2: Yeah, thanks, fellas. That's great. I love it. Very good.
- 13:18Speaker 3: Yeah, a little hot pot there. What a treat.
- 13:20Speaker 2: Do you want some, Mogi?
- 13:22Speaker 3: No.
- 13:22Speaker 2: Really?
- 13:23Speaker 3: Really? Okay, then you do it.
- 13:26Speaker 2: Okay.
- 13:27Speaker 3: Okay, I'm going to put on some music and then
- 13:28Speaker 3: we'll talk TV.
- 13:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:30Speaker 3: Well, I was going to say eat hot pot.
- 13:32Speaker 2: Oh, well, I'll do that in the brain. I don't
- 13:33Speaker 2: want to do it while we're, you know.
- 13:34Speaker 3: No, no, we'll do it now. We'll do it now.
- 13:35Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 13:37Speaker 1: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 13:41Speaker 2: Nirvana there on the Hauraki Big Show this Monday afternoon. Fellas,
- 13:47Speaker 2: let's talk TV. What's on the telly with Mike Minogue.
- 13:56Speaker 3: Yeah!
- 13:57Speaker 2: That's right. Howoo!
- 13:59Speaker 3: You alright? Just excited because it's your birthday, Jake.
- 14:03Speaker 2: Oh, right, yeah.
- 14:05Speaker 4: Look, I did watch some TV, but I'd like to
- 14:06Speaker 4: talk about a gig that I went to on Friday night,
- 14:08Speaker 4: if that's okay. Technically not television.
- 14:10Speaker 2: Sure, man.
- 14:11Speaker 3: That's all G. I went to the Classic. I saw
- 14:13Speaker 3: your mate there, old Scotty. Old Scotty, yes. He's the
- 14:16Speaker 3: guy that runs it, eh? That's right.
- 14:18Speaker 2: Good man. For about 50 years.
- 14:19Speaker 4: Jeez, that's a long time. Paul Douglas is a comedian.
- 14:24Speaker 4: He opened for Wilson Dixon.
- 14:26Speaker 3: Yes.
- 14:27Speaker 4: Paul Douglas, he was working a bit of stuff out,
- 14:30Speaker 4: a bit of new stuff. Some of it worked and
- 14:32Speaker 4: some of it didn't, but the stuff that worked was
- 14:34Speaker 4: absolutely gold.
- 14:36Speaker 3: He is one of my favourite New Zealand comedians. He's very,
- 14:38Speaker 3: very funny. He's the man, too.
- 14:40Speaker 4: He was doing some stuff that was very cinematic, actually.
- 14:44Speaker 4: Real loser stuff, you know what I mean? So right
- 14:46Speaker 4: up my alley. You can really connect with it.
- 14:50Speaker 3: Yes. Very, very good.
- 14:51Speaker 4: And a real, can I say, a real wide-ranging group
- 14:56Speaker 4: of individuals in the crowd. There's, you know, some people there.
- 14:58Speaker 3: Having a chat.
- 14:59Speaker 2: As always, yeah. Having a chat with.
- 15:01Speaker 3: The comedian there, like they're all part of the show.
- 15:03Speaker 3: But when I tell you, like, a really wide, wide range.
- 15:07Speaker 4: And then Wilson Dixon came on. You know, I think
- 15:11Speaker 4: we can say he's played by Jesse Griffin.
- 15:13Speaker 3: That's a character.
- 15:14Speaker 5: What?
- 15:16Speaker 3: And I've never seen the whole show before, and he
- 15:19Speaker 3: is absolutely brilliant. Yes. Absolutely brilliant. Hilarious.
- 15:23Speaker 4: Everyone's dying laughing. I give that five buzzies. Jesse and, well, Wilson, Dixon,
- 15:29Speaker 4: and Paul will be there again at the end of October.
- 15:32Speaker 4: Tickets are on sale now.
- 15:33Speaker 3: Get in there. Get your tickets. Just unbelievably funny stuff.
- 15:37Speaker 2: Yeah, great stuff, man. Yeah, Wilson Dixon, one of my
- 15:40Speaker 2: favorite characters.
- 15:41Speaker 3: 100%. He's brilliant.
- 15:42Speaker 2: Very, very good. Now, fellas, last night my wife and
- 15:46Speaker 2: I started watching the fourth Monster series on Netflix.
- 15:49Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 15:51Speaker 2: Now, the Monster series, what was the name of the guy?
- 15:54Speaker 3: Ian Dixon.
- 15:56Speaker 2: Brennan is the director. They tend... Their stories are basically
- 16:00Speaker 2: your serial killers. Yeah. Or your mass murderers.
- 16:03Speaker 4: Yes.
- 16:03Speaker 2: Dramatised. And they're characterised by a quirkiness and pretty intense violence. Now,
- 16:15Speaker 2: we started last night watching the Lizzie Borden story, which
- 16:20Speaker 2: is the fourth in the series. True story about a
- 16:24Speaker 2: young lady... who basically had horrendous parents who just were
- 16:29Speaker 2: terrible to her. I won't go into the details of
- 16:31Speaker 2: what happens, but what I will say, the first three
- 16:34Speaker 2: or four minutes of the opening, you know, of this
- 16:37Speaker 2: particular programme, horrendously violent. And my wife and I were like,
- 16:44Speaker 2: you know what? No, I don't think so.
- 16:47Speaker 3: So you didn't watch it?
- 16:49Speaker 2: No, we just sort of sat there. And it progressed along,
- 16:53Speaker 2: and then they get this new maid into their service
- 16:56Speaker 2: who's a really cool character. And actually, we ended up,
- 17:00Speaker 2: we watched two episodes, I think it was. It's actually
- 17:03Speaker 2: very good. Right. It's very good. After you get over
- 17:06Speaker 2: the initial shock of that first three minutes, which is
- 17:08Speaker 2: just horrific, the actual story and the acting is very,
- 17:14Speaker 2: very good. We actually really enjoyed it.
- 17:16Speaker 3: Monster series on Netflix. And is that two? There's only
- 17:20Speaker 3: two episodes?
- 17:20Speaker 2: No, there's more. Oh, yes.
- 17:21Speaker 3: There's more to come.
- 17:23Speaker 2: But yes, the woman that plays the mother, I can't
- 17:27Speaker 2: remember her name, and the father. The father is played
- 17:30Speaker 2: by the guy that was in Gangs. Oh, I can't
- 17:33Speaker 2: even remember.
- 17:34Speaker 3: Hey, with the show, that's useful. There you go.
- 17:38Speaker 2: Very good. Very good.
- 17:39Speaker 3: How many buzzies?
- 17:40Speaker 2: I'd give it 3.9 buzzies.
- 17:41Speaker 3: Out of five.
- 17:42Speaker 2: Wow.
- 17:43Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
- 17:44Speaker 3: Hey, so Friday night, I was hanging with the in-laws
- 17:47Speaker 3: at their place. Yes.
- 17:49Speaker 2: That's right. You were dreading that, weren't you?
- 17:51Speaker 3: So I had a crash course in what the people
- 17:54Speaker 3: in their 60s do on a Friday night at home.
- 17:57Speaker 2: Yes.
- 17:57Speaker 3: I watched the news in its entirety. Wow. I then
- 18:01Speaker 3: watched Seven Sharp in its entirety. Wow. I then watched
- 18:04Speaker 3: The Repair Shop. Oh, yeah, I know that one. Which
- 18:08Speaker 3: was my favourite of the three. No offence to Seven Shark. God,
- 18:11Speaker 3: that's a tedious programme. But the repair shop, I watched
- 18:14Speaker 3: a guy fixing a book for an hour.
- 18:16Speaker 2: Wow.
- 18:17Speaker 3: And by the end of it, the lady was really
- 18:18Speaker 3: pleased with her new book. Four buzzies out of five.
- 18:21Speaker 3: Highly recommend it. Can't wait until I'm in my 60s.
- 18:24Speaker 3: Was there sort of a few minutes of violence right
- 18:26Speaker 3: at the start?
- 18:27Speaker 2: Nah.
- 18:27Speaker 3: Nah. Nah, nah, it wasn't actually.
- 18:29Speaker 2: I think I'll bother then, to be honest.
- 18:32Speaker 3: The book was good because it was pretty broken... Like,
- 18:35Speaker 3: the pages were all, like, tatty, stuck together and stuff. Wow, yeah, yeah.
- 18:40Speaker 3: And the cover was pretty, like, perished.
- 18:42Speaker 2: It was like your grandma's cookbook, you know?
- 18:48Speaker 1: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 18:51Speaker 1: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 18:53Speaker 2: Welcome back, you massive backbones. Hope you're surviving your Monday afternoon.
- 18:57Speaker 2: You are listening to The Big Show brought to you
- 18:59Speaker 2: by Rebirth Gear.
- 19:00Speaker 3: Handcrafted burgers, loaded fries and gourmet eats that will change
- 19:04Speaker 3: the game. Scrumptious. Certainly is, fellas. If you've just joined us,
- 19:10Speaker 3: Horty J's birthday, but he doesn't want to make a
- 19:12Speaker 3: big deal out of it. Yep.
- 19:13Speaker 2: Yeah, let's move on from that.
- 19:14Speaker 3: You sure? Because there's heaps of texts on 3483.
- 19:15Speaker 2: Well, you know, as I say, people do it. They
- 19:18Speaker 2: do it. I can't control that.
- 19:20Speaker 4: We were going to all chip in and get you
- 19:22Speaker 4: some Botox. Is that something you'd be interested in?
- 19:25Speaker 2: What areas are you thinking specifically, Mogi?
- 19:29Speaker 4: Well, traditionally, you'd be guided by the woman or man
- 19:35Speaker 4: who delivers the injections.
- 19:37Speaker 3: Okay, yeah. But generally, it's in the face and the testicles.
- 19:42Speaker 2: I'll be honest with you because I am getting to
- 19:44Speaker 2: that age where, you know. And what age is that?
- 19:50Speaker 2: do start to look at improvements.
- 19:52Speaker 3: Yeah, a bit of renovations around the head.
- 19:55Speaker 2: One of the things that's really upset me about the
- 19:58Speaker 2: ageing process is the sunken nature of my arse.
- 20:01Speaker 3: Oh, yeah. Because you used to have a fat old bunda.
- 20:05Speaker 2: I had such a cute butt.
- 20:07Speaker 3: Yeah, right.
- 20:08Speaker 2: It's getting absorbed by my body.
- 20:10Speaker 3: It's like that coastal erosion stuff. It's just eroding away.
- 20:13Speaker 3: It is.
- 20:13Speaker 2: It's just sort of slipping down the landscape of my
- 20:17Speaker 2: little skinny legs.
- 20:18Speaker 3: It's the sheer drops.
- 20:20Speaker 2: A sheer drop, yes, if you will.
- 20:22Speaker 3: It is quite a funny analogy, the whole, like, you know,
- 20:24Speaker 3: because if you had bought a house that was however
- 20:28Speaker 3: many years old you are, it would certainly need a
- 20:30Speaker 3: renovation now, you know? It would need a coat of paint,
- 20:32Speaker 3: a bit of a face.
- 20:33Speaker 2: Yeah, a bit of a doer. Yeah. Actually, because, you know,
- 20:36Speaker 2: just on the ass front, because you've got a... You've
- 20:40Speaker 2: got some junk in the trunk, as they say there, Keezy.
- 20:43Speaker 3: I've got a peach. What about it?
- 20:45Speaker 2: We could slice a couple of centimetres off you and
- 20:48Speaker 2: transplant it onto old Horty J's arse.
- 20:50Speaker 3: You want my arse on your arse? You want Keezy's arse.
- 20:54Speaker 2: Well, I just meant.
- 20:55Speaker 3: So just go for it. You want a bit of
- 20:56Speaker 3: my arse.
- 20:57Speaker 2: Is that what you're... I'm just saying that, you know,
- 20:59Speaker 2: you've got a bit of, you know, to spare, a
- 21:02Speaker 2: bit of spare tyre action going on.
- 21:04Speaker 3: Yeah, 100%, man.
- 21:04Speaker 2: So maybe that could work.
- 21:05Speaker 3: That's a good idea. So we're going to walk into
- 21:08Speaker 3: a plastic surgeon's office and say, can you put some
- 21:10Speaker 3: of my ass on Jase? It must happen all the.
- 21:16Speaker 1: Time. I can't imagine so.
- 21:22Speaker 2: Live there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Monday afternoon.
- 21:27Speaker 2: The time is 5.12.
- 21:29Speaker 3: Fellas, I've got a boner pick.
- 21:32Speaker 2: You've got a bone to pick?
- 21:37Speaker 3: As well. As well, Keezy. Right.
- 21:40Speaker 4: Now, you'll remember a couple of months ago, fellas, we
- 21:42Speaker 4: did Come Dine with the Fellas with Old Mogey.
- 21:44Speaker 3: Yes.
- 21:45Speaker 4: Went around to Old Mogey's house over there in there.
- 21:48Speaker 4: Had a lovely time. There was a bit of an
- 21:51Speaker 4: incident fairly close to when people first arrived.
- 21:55Speaker 3: Very early doors.
- 21:56Speaker 4: Everybody turned up. Absolutely going off out in the lounge there.
- 22:00Speaker 4: People were sitting around. There was some sick tunes playing out.
- 22:04Speaker 4: Inglebert was playing on the old stereo there. I was
- 22:06Speaker 4: very considerate. Keezy loves a bit of Inglebert. The next
- 22:10Speaker 4: thing you know, I hear sort of cries of shock
- 22:14Speaker 4: and horror coming from the lounge. I was busy out
- 22:17Speaker 4: in the kitchen, so I went running out into the lounge.
- 22:20Speaker 3: You had your apron on. With my apron on, yeah,
- 22:23Speaker 3: nothing else.
- 22:24Speaker 2: Yeah, it was hot.
- 22:26Speaker 4: Just in time to catch your wife, Jase, tipping a
- 22:30Speaker 4: glass of what looked like red wine all over my couch. Now,
- 22:34Speaker 4: at the time, I was thinking to myself, she's making
- 22:37Speaker 4: herself at home. But, you know, because it was a competition,
- 22:41Speaker 4: I wanted to win, so I acted like it was
- 22:42Speaker 4: no biggie. Anyway, she grabbed a tea towel. Sorry, a
- 22:47Speaker 4: tea towel. A bath towel, a white bath towel, and
- 22:50Speaker 4: just sat on that and sort of thought, I guess,
- 22:54Speaker 4: figured that would be the.
- 22:55Speaker 3: End of it. Just soak it all up. That's right. Anyway,
- 22:57Speaker 3: I was having a good look at it over the weekend.
- 22:59Speaker 4: It turns out it's still massively stained. I've sent you
- 23:03Speaker 4: a photo, Jase, of it, and it's up on the
- 23:07Speaker 4: Hauraki Big Show Instagram on the stories there. Have a look, people,
- 23:10Speaker 4: and see what you think.
- 23:12Speaker 3: But it's a hurr.
- 23:13Speaker 2: Oh, wow.
- 23:13Speaker 3: It's a hurr of a stain. It's not insignificant.
- 23:18Speaker 4: Anyway, I've had somebody come in and do a quote
- 23:22Speaker 4: to get it cleaned.
- 23:24Speaker 3: Three grand.
- 23:25Speaker 2: Wow.
- 23:26Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah. Three grand.
- 23:27Speaker 4: So is that something? Now, I don't know what to
- 23:30Speaker 4: do here. Because is that, do I give you the bill? Or,
- 23:34Speaker 4: because this was, you know, this was done with NZ,
- 23:36Speaker 4: but do I send it to Bogsy? You know, the
- 23:39Speaker 4: chairman of NZ Me? Or do I give it to Toddy,
- 23:41Speaker 4: our boss? Or what's the story there? I know that
- 23:44Speaker 4: Pugzone's got the credit card for the big show.
- 23:46Speaker 2: Yes, he does.
- 23:46Speaker 3: He does. I can relate too, remember, because I got
- 23:49Speaker 3: that parking ticket. That's right. At Jase's Come Dine with Me.
- 23:51Speaker 4: That's right.
- 23:52Speaker 3: Because if you're going to send that, then I might
- 23:53Speaker 3: send that as well.
- 23:54Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 23:55Speaker 2: If I might, you know, because I agree with you, Mogi.
- 24:00Speaker 2: It's a hell of a dilemma.
- 24:00Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 24:02Speaker 2: I just want to deal with a few historical inaccuracies
- 24:05Speaker 2: in the portrayal of what happened here, in particular that
- 24:10Speaker 2: my wife was pouring red wine over your couch. Now,
- 24:16Speaker 2: I'm not entirely sure that that's an accurate portrayal of
- 24:20Speaker 2: the situation as it occurred. No, you're right.
- 24:21Speaker 3: It was a rosé. Yeah, it wasn't fully red.
- 24:25Speaker 2: It was a sparkling water. and she spilt it mostly
- 24:30Speaker 2: on her lap. I'm not disputing for a moment that
- 24:37Speaker 2: there's obviously– I mean, the stain seems to me to be–
- 24:44Speaker 2: I don't know if it's the same couch.
- 24:46Speaker 3: You're saying more recent?
- 24:48Speaker 2: Well, it just seems to me to be much more
- 24:54Speaker 2: prolific than a spillage of a little bit of sparkling water.
- 24:59Speaker 3: I see. To be fair, Jase, you were sitting in
- 25:01Speaker 3: the seat and you had the sun in your eyes, remember? Oh,
- 25:03Speaker 3: that's true. That's right. And you marked them down for that.
- 25:06Speaker 3: So you didn't see it. It went everywhere.
- 25:08Speaker 4: And you couldn't, yeah, so you were staring into the
- 25:11Speaker 4: sun at that stage, so you're probably the worst witness
- 25:13Speaker 4: that I could call.
- 25:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 25:14Speaker 3: Keezy, what did you see that fateful day? What I
- 25:17Speaker 3: saw was Jase's wife opening a bottle of red, sniffing it,
- 25:22Speaker 3: and then saying, ah, I don't like the smell of this,
- 25:24Speaker 3: and tipping it onto Mogi's couch. Thank you.
- 25:27Speaker 2: Is that what you saw, is it, Keezy? Because I'm
- 25:31Speaker 2: going to tell my wife that's what you said.
- 25:33Speaker 3: Go running to your wife as per. Run off to Mrs.
- 25:37Speaker 3: Oidy J. It's no biggie, Jase. Just pay the fine.
- 25:42Speaker 3: It's all G.
- 25:44Speaker 2: How much is it?
- 25:45Speaker 3: Three grand. Yeah, the couch cost me a thousand.
- 25:49Speaker 1: The Hodaki Big Show, weekdays from 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 25:53Speaker 2: Cool jam there on the Radio Hodaki Big Show this
- 25:57Speaker 2: Monday afternoon. The time is 5.23 and you were talking
- 25:59Speaker 2: just there, Mogi, about your come dine with me situation
- 26:05Speaker 2: and my wife... apparently opening a bottle of red wine
- 26:08Speaker 2: and pouring it all over your couch. Well, according to
- 26:11Speaker 2: Keezy anyway.
- 26:11Speaker 3: Well, no, according to Keezy and Mogi.
- 26:13Speaker 2: And leaving a massive stain all over the couch there.
- 26:16Speaker 3: But look, Jason, I don't want that to get toxic
- 26:18Speaker 3: and ruin the big show.
- 26:19Speaker 2: Yeah, totally, totally, Jason. We'll sort that. We'll sort that.
- 26:23Speaker 2: But can we have a bit of a come dine
- 26:26Speaker 2: with the fellas chat, please?
- 26:29Speaker 5: Come dine with the fellas chat.
- 26:34Speaker 3: Before we get started, I think it's best to clarify
- 26:36Speaker 3: for people that aren't aware, we are each, every month
- 26:38Speaker 3: that goes by, we're each taking turns to host everyone
- 26:40Speaker 3: and their partners. Come dine with me, you then rate
- 26:42Speaker 3: each other.
- 26:43Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:43Speaker 3: We've done three of them, Mogi, Jase, me, Pugs, you're
- 26:46Speaker 3: the last one left. G'day, Pugs.
- 26:47Speaker 2: Hi, how are you?
- 26:48Speaker 3: Yeah, good, thanks.
- 26:49Speaker 2: Pugs, yourself?
- 26:50Speaker 5: Yeah, good, burping up a bit of hot pot.
- 26:52Speaker 1: Yeah. Yum.
- 26:53Speaker 2: Good stuff, man. Now, so far, three magnificent meals.
- 26:58Speaker 3: Yes.
- 26:58Speaker 2: Three magnificent afternoons.
- 27:00Speaker 3: Yes.
- 27:01Speaker 2: Thoroughly enjoyed by all. But it occurred to me that
- 27:05Speaker 2: whilst this has all been going on and the people
- 27:07Speaker 2: have been loving it, you know, the come down with
- 27:10Speaker 2: the fellas experience, we've never at any point discussed what
- 27:14Speaker 2: the winner receives for this monumental, occasion and competition. And
- 27:22Speaker 2: it seems to me that, you know, it's required so
- 27:25Speaker 2: much effort from all of us, it should be a
- 27:28Speaker 2: substantial award.
- 27:30Speaker 3: Because you're winning at the moment, eh?
- 27:33Speaker 2: Genuinely, I don't know who's winning. Oh, don't you? I
- 27:35Speaker 2: know who's not.
- 27:37Speaker 3: Who's not?
- 27:40Speaker 2: That's all I know at the moment. But, I mean,
- 27:43Speaker 2: what are your guys' thoughts on that? I thought I'd
- 27:46Speaker 2: chuck it onto the table, the dining table, as it were,
- 27:49Speaker 2: and get your views.
- 27:51Speaker 4: Well, certainly from my point of view, knowing that I'm
- 27:53Speaker 4: not winning and I'd have no chance at taking home
- 27:55Speaker 4: the prize, I'm not keen.
- 27:58Speaker 3: But who knows?
- 28:00Speaker 4: There might be something that we could find in the
- 28:02Speaker 4: prize cupboard or, you know, there could be any number
- 28:04Speaker 4: of things in there.
- 28:05Speaker 2: But I.
- 28:06Speaker 3: Yeah, for that reason, I'm out. Yeah, I'm also, as
- 28:10Speaker 3: someone who I think has a decent chance of winning, but...
- 28:14Speaker 3: I'd rather things were fair. Yeah, yeah. I'm not interested either.
- 28:17Speaker 3: Pugs is the only one left to go.
- 28:18Speaker 2: Well, this is the thing. I mean, it's still very
- 28:21Speaker 2: much up in the air as to who's going to
- 28:23Speaker 2: win and not win, and that's by the by.
- 28:26Speaker 3: Right.
- 28:26Speaker 2: And I'm thinking because it's been such a– I mean, Mogi,
- 28:29Speaker 2: your day was magnificent. Keezy, you had a magnificent day.
- 28:33Speaker 2: I had a magnificent day. And I'm sure Pugs is
- 28:35Speaker 2: going to have a magnificent day.
- 28:36Speaker 3: Well, we don't know.
- 28:37Speaker 2: Well, we don't know. I mean, the odds are that–
- 28:39Speaker 2: It could be an absolute disaster. Even though I've always
- 28:43Speaker 2: said that old Pugsan, he's the secret weapon, I reckon,
- 28:47Speaker 2: because he's a hell of a chef, apparently.
- 28:49Speaker 3: Yeah. What do you think, Pugs?
- 28:51Speaker 5: You're hyping me up. Yeah, man, I'm keen for a prize.
- 28:53Speaker 3: Okay, great.
- 28:54Speaker 5: Yeah, I'd love to introduce one.
- 28:55Speaker 2: Because I'm thinking, well, we've all had such good fun
- 28:58Speaker 2: that the three losers shout, the winner and the partner
- 29:09Speaker 2: of the winner to an extravagant, extravagant meal of some description.
- 29:15Speaker 2: And if that's pugs, so be it.
- 29:21Speaker 3: Do we have to go? That would be my question.
- 29:25Speaker 3: So let's say, for example, Jase.
- 29:27Speaker 2: That pugs won it.
- 29:28Speaker 4: That you want it. Say I want it. Okay, say
- 29:30Speaker 4: you want it. Do we have to go with you
- 29:32Speaker 4: to this dinner or can we just send you, get
- 29:34Speaker 4: you a voucher and just be done with it?
- 29:36Speaker 2: Yeah, I think, you know, like a cash voucher would
- 29:39Speaker 2: be fine. Yeah. so cash.
- 29:40Speaker 5: A cash voucher.
- 29:43Speaker 2: It could just be, you know, the couple going out,
- 29:45Speaker 2: you know, make a big day of it, big night
- 29:47Speaker 2: of it.
- 29:47Speaker 3: A day of it? Are we sending you away to
- 29:50Speaker 3: like a retreat or something? So you're keen, Pugs? You're
- 29:54Speaker 3: confident you back yourself? What do you mean?
- 29:56Speaker 5: No, I'm just saying I think it would be a
- 29:58Speaker 5: great idea to introduce a prize.
- 29:59Speaker 2: Sounds lovely.
- 30:00Speaker 5: I'm not backing myself for anything here.
- 30:03Speaker 2: Well, you should. You should, baby.
- 30:05Speaker 5: Jase, you love to set me up with very... very
- 30:09Speaker 5: high expectations so you can.
- 30:11Speaker 2: Watch me I am excited I merely have high expectations
- 30:14Speaker 2: I had really low expectations but Jase has really talked
- 30:17Speaker 2: me around on this I've got really high expectations for.
- 30:20Speaker 3: You all I'll say is make sure you nail the
- 30:23Speaker 3: dessert there in the starter.
- 30:24Speaker 2: Oh yeah can I just say and the main oh
- 30:27Speaker 2: what about the entertainment oh look you're not going to
- 30:30Speaker 2: go great there but listen so we all put in
- 30:34Speaker 2: like one fitty.
- 30:35Speaker 3: Each no one fitty each four fifties Which hot pot
- 30:40Speaker 3: restaurant are you going to, man? This is ridiculous.
- 30:43Speaker 2: So that's a yes. Good stuff. That's still a no
- 30:46Speaker 2: from me.
- 30:47Speaker 3: Oh, well, if Mogi's out, I was in. But if
- 30:50Speaker 3: Mogi's out, I'll have to be out as well, man. Yeah.
- 30:51Speaker 2: Okay, a hundred each.
- 30:53Speaker 5: Why are you looking at me as you say that?
- 30:55Speaker 4: I tell you what, if you win, whoever wins gets
- 30:59Speaker 4: the opportunity to make everyone a dinner again.
- 31:02Speaker 3: Bingo. Lock it in, fellas.
- 31:04Speaker 1: The Hodaki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 31:08Speaker 2: The offspring there on the Hodaki Big Show this Monday afternoon.
- 31:12Speaker 2: The time is 5.36. Now, we've teamed up with our
- 31:15Speaker 2: mates at Trade Tested again. Had another prize to give
- 31:19Speaker 2: away on the Friday. $ 2, 500 worth of stuff. We're heading
- 31:24Speaker 2: into spring. We're in spring, heading into summer. If you've
- 31:27Speaker 2: got a little backyard or a little deck area that
- 31:29Speaker 2: you want to just totally plush out, you should get involved, man.
- 31:33Speaker 3: Plush it out. So easy to do. You can plush
- 31:36Speaker 3: that thing right out. All you have to do is
- 31:40Speaker 3: just plush it.
- 31:41Speaker 2: Plush it, man.
- 31:42Speaker 3: You know when you see something, God, that could do
- 31:44Speaker 3: with a jolly good plushing. Good plushing. Yeah. Yes. The
- 31:47Speaker 3: other day I was with my mate and he was like, oh,
- 31:49Speaker 3: you could kit that out. And I was like, kit
- 31:50Speaker 3: it out? Don't you mean plush it out? Yeah, you
- 31:52Speaker 3: could renovate that. What?
- 31:54Speaker 2: What?
- 31:54Speaker 3: Plush it. Plushivate.
- 31:56Speaker 2: Hey.
- 31:57Speaker 3: Come on, fellas. We're doing big dick energy. The way
- 31:59Speaker 3: it works is you head to tradetester.co.nz, put together a
- 32:03Speaker 3: shopping list worth up to $ 2, 500 on the dot, right?
- 32:07Speaker 3: So anywhere up to that point, if you put in
- 32:09Speaker 3: more than that, like someone has done here, you're instantly
- 32:12Speaker 3: out of the draw.
- 32:13Speaker 2: Yeah, no siree, Bob.
- 32:14Speaker 3: No siree, Bob. So what you want to do is
- 32:18Speaker 3: go tradetester.co.nz, put together a shopping list up to two
- 32:21Speaker 3: and a half grand, screenshot it. and then upload it
- 32:24Speaker 3: at hoducky.co.nz.
- 32:26Speaker 2: I remember the Backbone on Friday. He had a stand-up paddleboard.
- 32:29Speaker 2: Was that one of the– it was pretty random.
- 32:31Speaker 3: A stand-up paddleboard. It's amazing what they've got there, Keezy. What,
- 32:34Speaker 3: a trade-tested? A trade-tested. I mean, they've got some plush.
- 32:37Speaker 2: Brand-new five-burner Barbie from Recollection.
- 32:40Speaker 3: Totally.
- 32:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 32:42Speaker 3: So this one person here– I'm just pulling up random
- 32:44Speaker 3: entries now. So this person has asked for a Savannah
- 32:47Speaker 3: modular outdoor corner suite. Now, that's $ 13.
- 32:49Speaker 2: 99.
- 32:49Speaker 3: That's all they've asked for.
- 32:52Speaker 2: Okay.
- 32:53Speaker 3: You're not making the most of it, man. No, you're not.
- 32:55Speaker 3: Can I just put it to you this way? Just
- 32:56Speaker 3: wake up. Do you think that's plushing it out, man?
- 32:59Speaker 2: No, it's not. I don't think so.
- 33:01Speaker 3: You've left $ 1, 100 on the table.
- 33:03Speaker 2: Thank you. You're going to have a stand-up paddleboard in
- 33:05Speaker 2: the corner of that.
- 33:06Speaker 3: 100%. Another person here has done the same thing. Outdoor
- 33:11Speaker 3: corner suite, bigger version, this time $ 2, 899. Well, that's not
- 33:16Speaker 3: going to work at all. That's too plush.
- 33:18Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly.
- 33:19Speaker 3: Jeez. Somewhere in between would be great. How about, I
- 33:22Speaker 3: don't know, $ 2, 500? Why do you think it's not getting through, Keezy?
- 33:25Speaker 3: I don't know. Because you're the one that does the admin. Yeah, well,
- 33:28Speaker 3: because that would... I mean, it would suggest that I'm
- 33:30Speaker 3: not explaining it right, but I think I'm doing a
- 33:32Speaker 3: pretty plush job. This person here... This is what I like, right?
- 33:39Speaker 3: So a retractable hose reel.
- 33:41Speaker 2: Oh, yes.
- 33:42Speaker 3: I like those.
- 33:42Speaker 2: Well, that's not going to cost you two and a
- 33:44Speaker 2: half Ks. Wait, man.
- 33:46Speaker 3: God. Bike ceiling hoists so they could store their bicycle
- 33:50Speaker 3: up on the roof.
- 33:51Speaker 2: What?
- 33:52Speaker 3: A professional Wi-Fi color weather center so they can monitor
- 33:57Speaker 3: the weather. A Savannah Modular Outdoor Corner Suite. Oh, we
- 34:00Speaker 3: heard about one of those before, $ 1, 399. That's right. And
- 34:04Speaker 3: an infrared instant heater, 2,000 watt, plus a bonus storage box,
- 34:10Speaker 3: 270 litres. That all adds up to $ 2, 285.
- 34:12Speaker 2: Yeah, that's better.
- 34:14Speaker 3: You've still got $ 200 to spare, though.
- 34:15Speaker 2: I don't know what any of those things are, but
- 34:17Speaker 2: it sounds bloody good.
- 34:18Speaker 3: It's bloody good, Jay. So I suggest getting involved. Go
- 34:21Speaker 3: to tradetester.co.nz. Put together a shopping list with $ 2, 500. Then
- 34:25Speaker 3: go to hodaki.co.nz and upload your screenshot. There we are
- 34:28Speaker 3: calling the final winner this Friday. Here's the thing, fellas,
- 34:31Speaker 3: and a lot of people out there don't understand this.
- 34:34Speaker 3: You've got to be in to win. You do. You've
- 34:35Speaker 3: got to be in to win, Keezy. Write that down, man.
- 34:37Speaker 2: Yeah, could you write that down, please, Keezy?
- 34:39Speaker 3: Sorry, how do you spell plush first? I'm just writing
- 34:41Speaker 3: that down. P-L-U. Hang on, slow down.
- 34:47Speaker 1: The Hodaki Big Show, weekdays from 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 34:51Speaker 2: Audio Slave there on the Hodaki Big Show this Monday evening. Now, fellas,
- 34:56Speaker 2: there was some superb sporting action over the weekend. Let's
- 34:59Speaker 2: have some sports chat.
- 35:06Speaker 5: Yeah!
- 35:08Speaker 4: Yeah!
- 35:10Speaker 2: Ooh! Sport! Mogi has been waxing lyrical about the extraordinary
- 35:17Speaker 2: Mugma League match last night. Mogi, I didn't see it.
- 35:20Speaker 2: I've seen a few highlight packages. Your thoughts? Apparently it
- 35:23Speaker 2: was an absolute doozy.
- 35:26Speaker 4: Well, the two prelim finals, which are weird talk for
- 35:29Speaker 4: semifinals in the NRL, happened over the weekend. The Roosters
- 35:32Speaker 4: flogged the Dolphins on Friday night. And then last night,
- 35:36Speaker 4: the Panthers v.
- 35:37Speaker 3: The Knights....
- 35:39Speaker 4: Of course, the Knights qualified seventh and the Panthers qualified first.
- 35:44Speaker 4: The Knights haven't won a premiership. I don't think they've
- 35:47Speaker 4: made a grand final for 25 years, something like that.
- 35:49Speaker 4: So the odds are against them.
- 35:50Speaker 3: Yes. Now, this is a team that obviously beat us
- 35:52Speaker 3: last week. They look pretty good doing it. They've got
- 35:55Speaker 3: Calum Ponga at fullback. Nathan Crosswell, is it? Phoenix Crossland.
- 36:01Speaker 4: Phoenix Crossland, sorry. who's their hooker, that'd be right. So
- 36:06Speaker 4: a couple of Kiwis in there, which was bloody good.
- 36:08Speaker 4: I wasn't sure who I was going for, because I
- 36:09Speaker 4: really love the Clearies, and I really like Penrith. I
- 36:12Speaker 4: think they're a bunch of good people, and they're never
- 36:14Speaker 4: in the headlines for the wrong reasons. With about four
- 36:17Speaker 4: minutes to go in the first half, Nathan Cleary had
- 36:21Speaker 4: his ankle broken and it was a compound fracture. So
- 36:24Speaker 4: it was called a hip drop tackle where the person
- 36:27Speaker 4: slides down the back. It's a really weird one. If
- 36:30Speaker 4: you've seen it, you know what I'm talking about. But
- 36:32Speaker 4: it was absolutely heinous. The whole stadium stops. Nobody's happy
- 36:37Speaker 4: in that situation. It was absolutely, because of course you
- 36:40Speaker 4: saw him, it was grim. Apparently it's a double compound.
- 36:43Speaker 3: Yeah, oh right. I don't know how horrendous. It was heinous.
- 36:48Speaker 4: Now, the best player in the game is gone, and
- 36:52Speaker 4: the player that did it was Phoenix Crossland, and he
- 36:55Speaker 4: got sent from the field immediately for the duration of
- 36:58Speaker 4: the game. So there you are with the Newcastle Knights
- 37:00Speaker 4: having to play 44 minutes with 12 men. So an
- 37:06Speaker 4: almost impossible task when you're playing against the best side
- 37:09Speaker 4: that the competition's ever seen, I would likely say.
- 37:12Speaker 3: So there you go.
- 37:14Speaker 4: And then they somehow managed to hold the Panthers scoreless
- 37:17Speaker 4: in the second half, scored a couple of tries of
- 37:19Speaker 4: their own, and it was just a game that was
- 37:21Speaker 4: full of twists and turns, incredible defence, errors. I've never
- 37:26Speaker 4: heard a crowd so loud. It was, I think, probably
- 37:30Speaker 4: the most amazing game of rugby league I've ever seen.
- 37:33Speaker 2: That's extraordinary.
- 37:34Speaker 3: Di Henwood had a good point in our group chat.
- 37:36Speaker 3: He said the Knights are what I was expecting the
- 37:39Speaker 3: Warriors to be. I completely agree. And what I love
- 37:42Speaker 3: about them is it's just grassroots, going hard for each other. Yeah.
- 37:46Speaker 4: But they've got a little bit more X factor. They've
- 37:49Speaker 4: had the same sort of troubles with injuries as well.
- 37:51Speaker 4: They're far from being at full strength.
- 37:53Speaker 3: Like our forward pack is way better than theirs, but
- 37:55Speaker 3: their back line is way better than ours. Yeah, 100%.
- 37:59Speaker 2: Wow.
- 37:59Speaker 4: And then after that, and I was talking to you
- 38:01Speaker 4: guys about it before, but you crossed to Matty Johns,
- 38:02Speaker 4: who used to play for Newcastle, the brother of Andrew Johns,
- 38:05Speaker 4: a TV personality. He was playing for the side when
- 38:09Speaker 4: they won their last grand final and it cut to
- 38:11Speaker 4: him in the studio because he does the post-match stuff
- 38:13Speaker 4: and he's in tears, unable to talk. And it was
- 38:17Speaker 4: absolutely magnificent because you see how much sport means to
- 38:22Speaker 4: people and especially in those little cities, like Newcastle is
- 38:24Speaker 4: a steel city. They go down in the mines, they
- 38:28Speaker 4: go down in the pits, they go kilometres underground, they
- 38:32Speaker 4: work bloody hard, rugby league, in the vein sort of stuff,
- 38:35Speaker 4: it's all they've got. And they've had a shithouse time
- 38:38Speaker 4: with a terrible team. And now they've, last year this
- 38:40Speaker 4: team came last.
- 38:42Speaker 3: Yes. They got the wooden spoon. And this year they're
- 38:45Speaker 3: in the grand final.
- 38:45Speaker 2: How good.
- 38:46Speaker 4: Fairytale stuff. Absolutely brilliant game. And yeah, I can't wait
- 38:50Speaker 4: for next week.
- 38:50Speaker 2: So Knights v Roosters final?
- 38:53Speaker 3: Knights v Roosters.
- 38:54Speaker 2: Which is fun.
- 38:54Speaker 3: I'm going for the Knights. But I literally, if you'd
- 38:56Speaker 3: asked me at the beginning of the season to rank
- 38:58Speaker 3: the likelihood of teams to be in the grand final.
- 39:00Speaker 3: The Knights would have been like 13th or something.
- 39:03Speaker 4: Going into the finals, I think they were into the finals.
- 39:06Speaker 4: When they're already in there, the likelihood of them getting
- 39:08Speaker 4: to the grand final, I think.
- 39:10Speaker 2: Was $ 65. Unbelievable. Hey, and just very quickly, fellas, on
- 39:14Speaker 2: the rugby union, I got up this morning and I
- 39:16Speaker 2: was watching some highlights of Australia v South Africa, which
- 39:20Speaker 2: initially I thought, to be honest with you, was some
- 39:23Speaker 2: sort of historical match. Like a replay.
- 39:25Speaker 3: Yeah, like a replay thing.
- 39:27Speaker 2: But it wasn't a replay. I didn't even know they
- 39:28Speaker 2: were playing the spring ball.
- 39:29Speaker 3: No idea.
- 39:30Speaker 2: The most extraordinary match again with the Wallabies coming out
- 39:34Speaker 2: on top. And again, I didn't know until you told me, Mogi,
- 39:39Speaker 2: at one point the Australians were playing with 11 players.
- 39:42Speaker 4: They finished the game out with 11 players on the field.
- 39:46Speaker 4: I don't think I've ever heard of a team being
- 39:48Speaker 4: down to 11.
- 39:48Speaker 1: No.
- 39:49Speaker 3: I don't know how you lose, but I think the
- 39:51Speaker 3: Wallabies had a pretty hearty lead.
- 39:53Speaker 2: Yeah, it was 40-odd to 17 at one point. Yeah,
- 39:56Speaker 2: that sounds right.
- 39:57Speaker 5: So, yeah.
- 39:57Speaker 4: Unbelievable.
- 39:58Speaker 3: Bloody good stuff, eh, fellas? Exciting. Oh, God. How good.
- 40:05Speaker 1: The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 40:08Speaker 1: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 40:11Speaker 2: Welcome back, you massive backbones. Hope you survived your Monday.
- 40:13Speaker 2: You are in fact listening to The Big Show brought
- 40:16Speaker 2: to you by Reburger.
- 40:17Speaker 3: Serving good times and good food. Dine in or take
- 40:20Speaker 3: away Reburger today.
- 40:21Speaker 2: Reburger.
- 40:24Speaker 3: Is that good? Don't just go silent. I can't just
- 40:31Speaker 3: play it and then you go silent because.
- 40:33Speaker 2: That's... Yeah, it was okay, man. It was good. Hey, listen. God,
- 40:37Speaker 2: I'm feeling a bit crazy today. A bit spontaneous. What
- 40:40Speaker 2: are you guys' plans tonight?
- 40:42Speaker 3: Good question, man.
- 40:43Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 40:44Speaker 3: That's a good question from you. Probably go home, go
- 40:47Speaker 3: to bed.
- 40:47Speaker 2: You don't want to do that, Mogi. It's a beautiful
- 40:50Speaker 2: night out there. What about you, Keezy?
- 40:52Speaker 3: Well, I've just texted my wife and said, hey, do
- 40:53Speaker 3: you want to go for a walk later? Oh, you
- 40:55Speaker 3: still got it. Boring.
- 40:58Speaker 2: Well, I'm just thinking, you know, life is short.
- 41:01Speaker 3: What do you want to do? Do you want to
- 41:02Speaker 3: do something special for your birthday?
- 41:03Speaker 2: Yeah, maybe. You know, the fellas, we just all put
- 41:05Speaker 2: our jackets on and just hit the CBD.
- 41:08Speaker 3: Sure, like go to a bar? Put our jackets on.
- 41:10Speaker 3: I mean, I've already got my jacket on.
- 41:12Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, that's true. Not that one.
- 41:14Speaker 3: Yeah. Do you want me to change jackets?
- 41:15Speaker 2: Yeah, have you got another one you could put on?
- 41:17Speaker 3: Put my prison jacket on.
- 41:18Speaker 2: Yeah, that'd be good. You know, and just take life
- 41:21Speaker 2: by the horns.
- 41:22Speaker 3: What does that mean?
- 41:23Speaker 2: Well, just, you know, go to have a few quiets.
- 41:26Speaker 2: Just for the fellas.
- 41:28Speaker 3: Yum, Keith.
- 41:29Speaker 2: Some wedges.
- 41:31Speaker 3: So that's grabbing life by the balls, is putting on
- 41:33Speaker 3: a jacket and eating some wedges. And a few beers.
- 41:36Speaker 2: Well, they can be loaded wedges, fellas. A few jalapenos.
- 41:41Speaker 2: Maybe we could go to a re-beer gear.
- 41:42Speaker 3: That sounds great, man. I don't think they do that.
- 41:44Speaker 2: Actually, oh, no, sorry, my wife just texted.
- 41:47Speaker 3: Has she?
- 41:48Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
- 41:48Speaker 3: What did she say?
- 41:49Speaker 2: She said, I've made macaroni cheese. Oh, happy birthday.
- 41:52Speaker 3: Mac and cheese.
- 41:53Speaker 2: Mac and cheese there.
- 41:54Speaker 3: We'll have to flag it. Sorry, fellas. By the way,
- 41:56Speaker 3: it is Horty J's birthday, and people are texting in
- 41:58Speaker 3: on 3483, happy birthday messages. We're going to read a
- 42:01Speaker 3: whole lot of them next, even though, Jase, you don't
- 42:03Speaker 3: want to.
- 42:03Speaker 2: Yeah, we don't need to do that, man.
- 42:05Speaker 3: Nah, well, let's do it, man. I mean, you've written
- 42:06Speaker 3: it in the show planner, so we may as well.
- 42:08Speaker 2: Here's Radiohead.
- 42:10Speaker 1: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 42:14Speaker 2: Red hot chili peppers here on the Hauraki Big Show.
- 42:19Speaker 2: The time, the day is Monday.
- 42:23Speaker 3: Good stuff, Jase. The reason Monday is important is because
- 42:28Speaker 3: it's Hoity J's birthday. Yeah, man. He's turning.
- 42:34Speaker 2: Into an awesome human being. Nice, man.
- 42:38Speaker 3: And a whole lot of people have been wanting to
- 42:39Speaker 3: wish you well, Jase. There's lots of texts on 3483.
- 42:41Speaker 3: There's also a call here. G'day, Josh. How you going?
- 42:46Speaker 2: Yeah, pretty dang good. Good on you, mate.
- 42:48Speaker 3: What can we do for you, man? Well, I heard
- 42:51Speaker 3: that you fellas are talking about it being someone's birthday.
- 42:54Speaker 2: Oh, yes.
- 42:55Speaker 1: As a fellow 340s.
- 42:57Speaker 3: Gentleman, like Mr. Hoity J, I just wanted to say
- 43:04Speaker 3: happy birthday to your mother, Dave, and that I too
- 43:07Speaker 3: share the September 28th as a birthday. Oh, yeah. Happy birthday, Josh.
- 43:12Speaker 2: Good on you, Josh, you massive bag man. Appreciate that, mate.
- 43:16Speaker 3: Pugs will flick you a re-burger voucher for your birthday, mate,
- 43:18Speaker 3: all right? Oh, legend.
- 43:21Speaker 2: Good on you, mate. You enjoy that, wasn't it? It's nice.
- 43:24Speaker 3: It was nice, Jase, but I wouldn't mind just concentrating
- 43:26Speaker 3: on you, man.
- 43:27Speaker 2: Sure, sure.
- 43:28Speaker 3: Because you're the birthday boy. Who's the birthday boy?
- 43:31Speaker 2: Oh, I guess it's me.
- 43:32Speaker 3: Correct. A lot of texts, 3483. Happy birthday, Hoity J.
- 43:35Speaker 3: Hope that gold card fits in your wallet. True, actually. Yeah, yeah. Oh, no,
- 43:40Speaker 3: that doesn't make sense because don't you get a gold
- 43:41Speaker 3: card when you're 65?
- 43:42Speaker 2: Yeah, well, it's just a bit of fun, Keezy.
- 43:45Speaker 3: Is that what you call gentle ribbing?
- 43:47Speaker 2: Yes.
- 43:48Speaker 3: Ah. G'day, guys. Horty J has been remarkably restrained about
- 43:52Speaker 3: his birthday. Over at The Hits, Matty McLean has been
- 43:55Speaker 3: banging on about his birthday for the last year, and
- 43:57Speaker 3: I don't even think he's had it yet. No, it's true.
- 43:59Speaker 3: It's true. So you're so subtle, Jase.
- 44:01Speaker 2: Yeah, I know. Well, as I say, fellas, it's about
- 44:03Speaker 2: the show. It's not about me.
- 44:05Speaker 3: Happy 60th birthday, Jase. It's from Heidi.
- 44:08Speaker 2: I know, a bit of humour there. Good humour.
- 44:10Speaker 3: Very common through line here.
- 44:12Speaker 2: It really is.
- 44:13Speaker 3: Hoity J is ageless. Even if he was 100, his
- 44:16Speaker 3: accomplishments would have been remarkable. That's true.
- 44:18Speaker 2: Yeah, true.
- 44:19Speaker 3: That is true.
- 44:20Speaker 2: Oh, that's lovely.
- 44:21Speaker 3: Happy birthday, Parker. And that's from Jeff, Virgil, Scott, Alan, John, Gordon, Brains,
- 44:27Speaker 3: and Lady Penelope.
- 44:30Speaker 2: Very good.
- 44:31Speaker 3: Happy birthday, big nose.
- 44:33Speaker 2: Yeah, nice.
- 44:35Speaker 3: Must be something about this date. It's my birthday too,
- 44:37Speaker 3: and I've got a massive schlong. Yeah.
- 44:40Speaker 2: Well, funnily enough, I too have a mate that's got
- 44:43Speaker 2: the same birthday.
- 44:43Speaker 4: What?
- 44:44Speaker 1: Yes.
- 44:44Speaker 3: What's his name? What are the chances of that happening?
- 44:47Speaker 3: Him having a mate, pretty slim.
- 44:48Speaker 2: His name is Evan. Evan.
- 44:51Speaker 3: Evan Flo.
- 44:52Speaker 2: No, just Evan. Evan. Well, he's got a surname, and
- 44:54Speaker 2: I won't say it over the air.
- 44:56Speaker 3: Okay.
- 44:56Speaker 2: Johnson. No.
- 44:57Speaker 3: Peters. No.
- 44:58Speaker 2: Evan, Evan, Evan.
- 45:00Speaker 3: Essence. Evanescence. Far out, really. G'day, Jase. Happy birthday. You
- 45:08Speaker 3: only turned 42 once, so have a good one. That's
- 45:10Speaker 3: not true.
- 45:11Speaker 2: Yeah, well, come on, man.
- 45:12Speaker 3: He's turned 42 about four times.
- 45:15Speaker 2: Happy birthday, Jase, you old shagger. Yeah, thanks, mate.
- 45:18Speaker 3: How about this one from Rod? Happy birthday, numbnuts.
- 45:23Speaker 2: Yeah, good stuff. Thanks, everybody.
- 45:25Speaker 1: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 45:29Speaker 1: in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
- 45:31Speaker 2: Hold there on the Hauraki Big Show this Monday evening. Now,
- 45:35Speaker 2: listen up. We've teamed up with our mates at Emerson's
- 45:38Speaker 2: Brewery and they've created a whole new beer and they
- 45:41Speaker 2: want us to name it. It's a hazy pale ale,
- 45:44Speaker 2: isn't it, fellas?
- 45:44Speaker 3: It certainly is, Jase. It's tropical as well, whatever that means.
- 45:47Speaker 3: And it's to celebrate the 2026 Dunedin Craft Beer and
- 45:50Speaker 3: Food Festival. Cheers. Cheers. I think I'll have myself a beer.
- 45:58Speaker 1: The Radio Hauraki Big Show. Name our beer.
- 46:02Speaker 3: It's exciting stuff, fellas, naming a beer.
- 46:04Speaker 1: It is.
- 46:04Speaker 3: It's a tricky, tricky thing to do. It's not as
- 46:08Speaker 3: easy as it sounds. Yeah.
- 46:11Speaker 2: You've got to walk a tightrope of appropriateness.
- 46:13Speaker 3: That's right. And then there's the length. It's got to
- 46:16Speaker 3: be short. It's got to be sharp. It's got to
- 46:17Speaker 3: be memorable. It's got to be on brand. There's been
- 46:21Speaker 3: some shockers come through.
- 46:23Speaker 2: Yeah, there has.
- 46:23Speaker 3: You can count on probably one hand. The good ones. Yes.
- 46:27Speaker 2: I'd agree with that.
- 46:28Speaker 3: Why are you just pulling the fingers at me, man? Oh,
- 46:30Speaker 3: because there's only been one good one. So far, the
- 46:33Speaker 3: top one is Hazy Bastard. Hazy Bastard. It's out in front.
- 46:36Speaker 3: We've had some other ones, though. Had some good ones,
- 46:38Speaker 3: but that one there, it's been given a bit of
- 46:40Speaker 3: the odd nod.
- 46:40Speaker 2: As I say, I like the catchiness of Three Honkers Hazy.
- 46:45Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a good one as well. We've got someone
- 46:46Speaker 3: on the line, actually.
- 46:48Speaker 2: G'day, Kane.
- 46:48Speaker 3: How you going, man? Canis. Yeah, I'm going good.
- 46:51Speaker 2: Yourself, fellas? Yeah, can't complain, Cain. Tell me, Cain, what
- 46:56Speaker 2: do you do for a crust?
- 46:58Speaker 3: Oh, I want to start off by wishing you a
- 47:00Speaker 3: happy birthday, Mr.
- 47:01Speaker 2: Jizzball.
- 47:02Speaker 3: Oh, thanks. Happy birthday. Are you going to sing him
- 47:04Speaker 3: a song there, Canis?
- 47:06Speaker 5: Why not?
- 47:06Speaker 2: No. No, mate, you don't need to do that. No,
- 47:08Speaker 2: she's all good, mate.
- 47:10Speaker 3: Good on you. Hey, Cain, what do you do for
- 47:11Speaker 3: a crust, brother?
- 47:13Speaker 2: I do acrylic bathroom repairs, fellas.
- 47:17Speaker 3: Sounds like you're in a bathroom.
- 47:18Speaker 2: Backbone. What an absolute backbone. Have you got a name
- 47:22Speaker 2: for us, Kane, most importantly? I do, boys. It's the
- 47:27Speaker 2: Frothy Frobber.
- 47:29Speaker 3: Froppy Frobber.
- 47:30Speaker 2: Frobber with an F-R.
- 47:32Speaker 3: Okay, Frothy Frobber. I don't mind that. Yeah, you like that.
- 47:35Speaker 2: Frothy Frobber.
- 47:35Speaker 3: It's fun to say. That's a good name there, Kane.
- 47:39Speaker 3: Tell you what, man. You've got yourself an Emerson's hoodie.
- 47:41Speaker 3: That's right. Oh, wicked fellas. Thank you. Get on here, mate.
- 47:46Speaker 2: No worries.
- 47:46Speaker 3: You hold the line there and old Pugs will get
- 47:48Speaker 3: your sizing and he'll make it to spec. Froffy Frobber.
- 47:52Speaker 2: Quite hard to say in a weird way. Froffy Throbber.
- 47:55Speaker 3: No, it's Frothy Frobber. Froffy Frobber.
- 47:58Speaker 2: Froffy Frobber.
- 48:00Speaker 3: Frothy... Hey, Dunedin, beerfest.co.nz, if you'd like tickets, we're going
- 48:05Speaker 3: to be down there.
- 48:06Speaker 2: Are we?
- 48:07Speaker 3: Shapeshift, Troy Kingey, Red Fountain, Park Road are going to
- 48:10Speaker 3: be down there as well. Huge event later in November,
- 48:12Speaker 3: Friday and Saturday, the 27th and 28th.
- 48:15Speaker 2: I tell you what, that is a hell of a
- 48:16Speaker 2: musical line-up. Seriously, I'm looking forward to that. It's going
- 48:20Speaker 2: to go off down in Dunedin.
- 48:22Speaker 3: Take your dancing shoes, Jizz.
- 48:23Speaker 2: Yeah, will do, man.
- 48:24Speaker 3: Hey, speaking of music and dancing and that, Arctic Monkeys.
- 48:28Speaker 1: The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 48:32Speaker 1: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 48:41Speaker 2: Well, there you go, you mad bastards. That's the big
- 48:44Speaker 2: show done and dusted for you Monday. It's been a
- 48:47Speaker 2: pleasure having your company in the podcast outro now known
- 48:51Speaker 2: as the Disclaimer Podcast. What clip have you got for
- 48:55Speaker 2: us today, Keezy?
- 48:56Speaker 3: Today's clip, Jez, is about you and your auctioning adventures.
- 49:02Speaker 2: Oh, yes.
- 49:02Speaker 3: Because Jase is addicted to an auction website. Yeah, that's right.
- 49:04Speaker 3: He's got another addiction. Yeah, yeah. Just get back on
- 49:07Speaker 3: the darts for God's sake.
- 49:07Speaker 2: Yeah, I reckon, eh?
- 49:09Speaker 3: Comes out at 7.30 tonight. Here you go.
- 49:10Speaker 2: Hello. You know what I found out today?
- 49:13Speaker 1: What?
- 49:14Speaker 2: My wife was bidding against me. She was trying to
- 49:18Speaker 2: win it.
- 49:19Speaker 3: For you?
- 49:20Speaker 2: For my birthday. Oh, my God.
- 49:23Speaker 3: So you were driving each other's bids. Wait, so did
- 49:25Speaker 3: she overtake your bid? Was she the one that took it?
- 49:27Speaker 2: Well, none of us won it because it got ridiculously,
- 49:30Speaker 2: it was ridiculously expensive. But I was like, what? And
- 49:36Speaker 2: she said, well, I know that you loved it. So
- 49:39Speaker 2: I was just like.
- 49:40Speaker 3: Winning against each other. Good stuff. That is good stuff. Wacky. Wacky,
- 49:46Speaker 3: all right.
- 49:46Speaker 2: It's crazy stuff. You wouldn't read about it. Mogi, your
- 49:50Speaker 2: plans for the night, please.
- 49:51Speaker 4: Well, look, I don't know if you guys know this,
- 49:53Speaker 4: but it seems to be getting a little bit lighter
- 49:54Speaker 4: in the evening.
- 49:55Speaker 2: Isn't it great?
- 49:56Speaker 3: It's just getting lighter and lighter and lighter. I can't
- 49:58Speaker 3: believe it.
- 50:00Speaker 4: So I will beat the feet home this evening and
- 50:04Speaker 4: have a little bit of a meal.
- 50:05Speaker 3: I don't know what's waiting for me, Jase. I couldn't
- 50:06Speaker 3: tell you. Yes. But I think I'm going to be
- 50:08Speaker 3: bed pretty early because I'm absolutely boogered. Yeah. I'm boogered, Jase.
- 50:14Speaker 2: Boogered?
- 50:15Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm boogered, man. Yeah. What are you up to, Keezy,
- 50:17Speaker 3: you mad dog? Hello. Something absolutely sick, I'd imagine. Yeah, boy,
- 50:21Speaker 3: you get it. What are you up to?
- 50:22Speaker 2: Come on.
- 50:23Speaker 3: So I'm going to go home. My wife and I
- 50:24Speaker 3: are going to go for a wee walk just because
- 50:27Speaker 3: it's Daylight Savings.
- 50:28Speaker 2: All right.
- 50:30Speaker 3: And have dinner. I'm making teriyaki chicken. Teriyaki chicken there
- 50:34Speaker 3: because we're going to Japan, so I thought I'd get
- 50:36Speaker 3: us some. You're going to have some rice as well? Yeah,
- 50:41Speaker 3: thinking about it. Good stuff. Thinking about baby steps. Just
- 50:44Speaker 3: getting ready for the sort of food over there. And
- 50:46Speaker 3: then she'll go to bed early, and then I'm going
- 50:48Speaker 3: to play PlayStation.
- 50:49Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 50:51Speaker 3: Jase, what are you doing, man? Birthday boy. Oh, yes.
- 50:53Speaker 2: No, look, fellas, just a quiet night at the Hootie
- 50:56Speaker 2: J household, just chilling out.
- 50:57Speaker 3: The jizz palace.
- 50:58Speaker 2: Yeah, the jizz palace. And, yeah, quiet one with my
- 51:02Speaker 2: wife and my daughter and, you know, just taking it easy,
- 51:05Speaker 2: which I like.
- 51:06Speaker 3: What did your daughter get you, by the way?
- 51:08Speaker 2: You know what she got me? She told me, Dad,
- 51:13Speaker 2: I'm doing a course next year and I've signed up
- 51:16Speaker 2: for it. And I went. Great.
- 51:18Speaker 1: Yeah, man.
- 51:19Speaker 3: Well, that's great. Great.
- 51:20Speaker 2: Yeah, so I was very excited about that. They also
- 51:22Speaker 2: got me golf lessons. Oh, wow.
- 51:25Speaker 3: How did they?
- 51:26Speaker 2: Yes.
- 51:26Speaker 3: That's great. God, I didn't know you needed golf lessons.
- 51:31Speaker 2: So I can sort out my swing, Moogie.
- 51:33Speaker 3: Nice, man.
- 51:34Speaker 2: Because it's terrible.
- 51:35Speaker 3: It's your short game, though. That's the problem.
- 51:37Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what I mean. My short game, my putting.
- 51:39Speaker 2: Hopefully we'll get them ironed out. And get back on
- 51:41Speaker 2: the course and give it a dedeshing. Hey, but it's
- 51:45Speaker 2: been a pleasure having you, company. You take care out there.
- 51:48Speaker 2: Until tomorrow, goodbye.
