- 0:47Thank you. Now here are the hosts of the
- 0:50United We Scan podcast. Hey, welcome back everybody.
- 0:54We're doing a bonus episode, so it's Sunday, but we're here
- 0:59tonight because they have informed us that we have reached
- 1:03a tentative agreement and we are going to go over the highlights
- 1:06that were posted. I will forewarn you that it
- 1:11might get a little heated at times, but I am the voice of
- 1:15reason. So we are here tonight to meet
- 1:18James and Bill. James is on the road coming back
- 1:22from Montana. So we're going to get this
- 1:25started right away and I'm just going to read it and then we'll
- 1:29discuss the sections as we come about it.
- 1:32So NRLCA reaches tentative agreement with USPS for
- 1:36three-year contract The National Rule Letter Carriers Association
- 1:41and the United States Postal Service have negotiated A
- 1:43tentative agreement to cover the three-year period from May 21st,
- 1:472024 to May 20th, 2027. This tentative agreement must be
- 1:53ratified by a majority of the voting membership of the NRLCA
- 1:57to become effective. The highlights of the tentative
- 2:00agreement are outlined below. A more detailed explanation of
- 2:04the changes will be presented in a special Tentative Agreement
- 2:08edition of the National Roll Letter Carrier Magazine and via
- 2:12ratification meetings to be held in every State in accordance
- 2:16with Article 11, Section 1 of the Constitution of the National
- 2:20Roll Letter Carriers Association.
- 2:23The required ratification meetings will be held throughout
- 2:26the months of May and June 2025 in conjunction with State
- 2:30conventions. When possible.
- 2:32The time and place of each meeting will be published on the
- 2:35NRLCA website as soon as possible.
- 2:39The NRLCA National Board unanimously believes the
- 2:42tentative agreement is fair and reasonable and is in the best
- 2:46interest of the 131,000 hard working Rd. letter carriers
- 2:50across the country. The tentative agreement provides
- 2:53for substantial gains in wages and benefits for awful
- 2:56classifications of rural carrier.
- 2:59Again guys, this is just a tentative agreement.
- 3:02We still need to get that hard copy print of the TA that will
- 3:07have more explanations and information other than just
- 3:11these highlights as well as ratification.
- 3:14Those you can at least. Monitor there.
- 3:17Yes, Sir, you. Use the word there.
- 3:19I'm not sure is correct. You said substantial.
- 3:23I was reading it. It was not my word.
- 3:25It was what? I I but I I I didn't hear
- 3:28substantial what? Gains in wages and benefits.
- 3:32Oh, OK. All right, Yeah.
- 3:36OK, OK. Sorry.
- 3:39So before everybody's like no, no, no, no, no.
- 3:43Honestly, when the hard copy comes in the mail, do not throw
- 3:47it away. Sit down and go over it.
- 3:50If you can go to a ratification meeting, please do because
- 3:54that's where you can ask questions.
- 3:57So with that said we are going to go down and the bullet
- 4:02pointed highlights and discuss each one.
- 4:05Tentative agreement 2024 to 2027.
- 4:09First one Article 38 three-year contract expires May 20th 2027.
- 4:15Pretty self all right. Article 9.1 Point A General wage
- 4:21increase 1.3% for November 2024. Retroactively applied 1.4%
- 4:29November 2025 and 1.5% of 2026. Example based on a 40 hour route
- 4:38at step 7 of Table one. Effective November 16th, 2024,
- 4:43general wage increase of 917 annually.
- 4:46Effective November 15th, 2025 general wage increase of 988
- 4:52annual. Effective November 14th, 2026,
- 4:56general wage increase of 1058 annually.
- 5:00These amounts will vary depending on the table step and
- 5:05the evaluated hours of the particular carrier and route.
- 5:08All right, guys, go ahead. Give your opinions on that one.
- 5:121.31.41.5 You are talking the exact same stuff that the city
- 5:19carriers got. We just follow the city carriers
- 5:22in the contract negotiation and that's what they were waiting on
- 5:27to give us the same increases that the city carriers got.
- 5:30I didn't realize we were city carriers.
- 5:32We knew we weren't going to get more my I, I knew it was going
- 5:36to follow similar, if not exactly the same as what the
- 5:40city had got. Am I surprised?
- 5:44No. Am I disappointed?
- 5:45Of course. Bill, Any thoughts on it?
- 5:49No, no, no. I I'm.
- 5:51I'm not surprised. I, I just, I, I'm just amazed at
- 5:57how gutless our president is that releases after the
- 6:01completion of the Western States Conference and the fact that,
- 6:04you know, he did not have wherewithal to stand up in front
- 6:08of a crowd of his, his contingent, his followers.
- 6:12Western states, the ones who need to work the MO use because
- 6:17they can't afford to live in the Western states without the
- 6:19overtime. But he couldn't do that in front
- 6:22of 80. Some people that you know,
- 6:25attended the western states in Billings, Mt and and then take
- 6:29the heat. This is this is how gutless this
- 6:32man is. And for him to say that these
- 6:35are substantial increases is just a slap in everybody's face.
- 6:42And if your table one OK, the 1.3 might not look so bad if
- 6:46you're a table 21.3 doesn't do diddle.
- 6:50And I'm just so disappointed for entire craft.
- 6:52But we knew this was coming. We warned everybody we'd get the
- 6:56same thing as the city carriers we have, you know, in the
- 6:59instance of the NLAC and the NRLCA, we have two gutless
- 7:04leaders. And if this doesn't get
- 7:06everybody off the fence about changing the leadership in the
- 7:09National Roll Letter Carriers Association, I don't know what
- 7:13will. Because this is the most
- 7:15cowardice act I've ever seen. Somebody dropping this news on a
- 7:20Friday before a holiday weekend. Easter is a holiday for some and
- 7:25right after a Western States Conference.
- 7:28Gutless. That's all I can say.
- 7:29He's gutless. And I'm ashamed of every one of
- 7:32you that voted for him last year because you got exactly what you
- 7:37deserve. Except for the retirees, because
- 7:39this won't faze them at all. I'm done.
- 7:41It's almost like Renfro. It's almost like Renfro when he
- 7:44said it was going to be a historic contract, you know,
- 7:48substantial raises. You know, using cost of living
- 7:52adjustments as a base for what your raises are is robbing Peter
- 7:58to pay Paul. You know it.
- 7:59It's basically just saying, well, your normal general wages
- 8:04don't mean anything. You need the cost of living to
- 8:06get you where you need to be. The cost of living was designed
- 8:10to help us stay above the cost of living, not get us close to
- 8:17what cost of living is after the fact.
- 8:20And we're sitting here and 1.31.41.5 with diet cola for
- 8:28Table 2 is not going to help anybody.
- 8:32You know, you're talking about I'm going to be paying the same
- 8:35amount for milk and groceries and and other expenses that I
- 8:40have that every other carrier is going to do.
- 8:43But because I'm on Table 2, I get less of a cost of living
- 8:46adjustment. So that means I make even less
- 8:48money. So the divide between Table one
- 8:52and Table 2 gets larger and larger and larger.
- 8:58We're doing the same job, James. We're doing this kind of work.
- 9:02Can I read the next one since that's about the cola before we
- 9:06start going off on the cola getting?
- 9:10Ahead of myself there. OK, And I'm the one drinking
- 9:13Crown right now, so all right. The next one is article Article
- 9:199.1 Point E Cost of living adjustment retain same formula
- 9:26and frequency. July 2024 retroactive.
- 9:31January 2025 retroactive. July 2025 retroactive if
- 9:38necessary. January 26th.
- 9:42July 26th. January 27.
- 9:45No, they did not rebase. The July 2024 cola will be paid
- 9:49retroactively. This cola will be approximately
- 9:53978 annually for table one. In step 15 of Table 2, the mount
- 10:00will be applied proportionally to steps one through 14 in Table
- 10:042. The January 25 COLA will be paid
- 10:08retroactively. The COLA will be approximately
- 10:12416 annually. For Table one, step 15 of Table
- 10:172, the amount will be applied proportionally to steps one
- 10:21through 14 and Table 2. The July 25 COLA will be paid
- 10:26retroactively. As of April 1st, 2025, this COLA
- 10:31stands at $312.00 annually. This number may fluctuate up or
- 10:37down depending on the CPI movement before January 31st,
- 10:422025. With the November 24 general
- 10:47wage increase, the July 24 and January 25 Colas, and the July
- 10:5425 COLA so far, regular carriers in PTFS will receive an initial
- 11:00salary increase of approximately 3.7% based on the timing of the
- 11:06signing of this national agreement.
- 11:08OK, now you can go off on the diet cola.
- 11:10Well, I already went off on it a little bit, but you're, you're,
- 11:14you said that 3.9% is for the top step, correct 3.9.
- 11:20Percent it it says regular rural carriers and PTFS will re salary
- 11:25increase of approximately 3.7%. It doesn't say table one or
- 11:31Table 2. It just says regular rural
- 11:34carriers and PTFS. Well, we're. 3.7 isn't that so?
- 11:401% plus the 1.3 and 1.4% right? Pretty much.
- 11:45If I'm not mistaken, yeah. And the inflation went up 20%
- 11:51and we only gained 4% with the last contract on the current
- 11:54inflation. Yeah.
- 11:55And then you give diet cola on top of that.
- 11:58I mean, please put the numbers in there for the people at on
- 12:01Table 2, Step 1. So we know that we're only
- 12:04getting $500.00 of an increase annually.
- 12:08That's the way you need to do it.
- 12:09You need to put the highest number and the lowest number so
- 12:12the craft knows exactly how much the lower tables, the lower
- 12:17steps on Table 2 are getting screwed.
- 12:20That's what you need to do. You need to show us exactly how
- 12:22much each the top step and the lowest step and the ones in
- 12:25between configure they're somewhere in between those two
- 12:27numbers. But instead you only give the
- 12:30top step. So it looks really good.
- 12:32They'll go, go for it. Well, I I see where somebody
- 12:35says. Does anybody know a retired
- 12:37Table 2 step 15 carrier? And it's like, we'll hold it.
- 12:42That was, it started in 2012. So they've got 12 1/2 maybe
- 12:46years in and they wouldn't qualify for retirement anyway,
- 12:52let alone at the paid pay rates that they incurred over those 13
- 12:58years. So, you know, guess what, you're
- 13:00screwed anyway. OK.
- 13:01I mean, why isn't everybody getting the same freaking cola,
- 13:07the same percentage across? I mean, how how hard is it to
- 13:10figure that one out? OK, yeah, like, like you said,
- 13:14James, it is diet cola because of the fact that you're like,
- 13:18like Renfro, OK, you're highlighting, you know, specific
- 13:21areas so that you don't look what they're doing with their
- 13:24left hand. Oh, in the right hand, we have
- 13:27this cola. It looks so good.
- 13:29It looks so delicious. Yes.
- 13:31Divided over 26 pay periods and everything else, and it's not
- 13:34going to amount to Jack shit. The problem of this situation is
- 13:38that most people are not that involved to the point where they
- 13:43understand that Renfro turned around and Hook took his
- 13:46contract, growing in his colas and everything and made it look
- 13:51like an 18% pay increase. Problem was the monies they were
- 13:57getting as back pay was included in that percentage.
- 14:01So therefore, those one time payments that they were getting
- 14:05were not actually increases in their base pay rate.
- 14:10They were retroactive pay increases.
- 14:13A1 time deal, go out and have a good time on that and you know,
- 14:17go out and buy a Harley or something and then three months
- 14:20down the line, say hold it, I got 18%.
- 14:24Where's the rest of my paycheck to pay for my new motorcycle?
- 14:26Well, that's because you weren't paying attention.
- 14:29This is the sleight of hand stuff that these people pull.
- 14:33And I swear to God they have the same same playbook as the NLAC
- 14:38and Renfro because it looks exactly the same.
- 14:43It really does. And and God, I can't wait till I
- 14:45can't wait till August. I really can't.
- 14:48You know, Orlando is going to get lit up.
- 14:51Mid states. Oh my God.
- 14:53Oh, he's I might, I might have to come out for mid states just
- 14:57to see games because I'm going to put a dog collar on him.
- 15:00Jesus, God, he's going to be rabid.
- 15:04Ruby and I and Little Man will be there.
- 15:06It's atrocious. OK.
- 15:09So can we move on to the next one?
- 15:11Yes, please go on to the RCA part.
- 15:13Article 9.1 Point H, RCA and ARC Compensation All Rcas receive 1%
- 15:22increase in each year in lieu of a cost of living adjustment
- 15:27effective with general wage increases above retroactive.
- 15:32Table 4. Rcas received salary increase of
- 15:35$0.55 per hour effective no later than the first full pay
- 15:40period 180 days after contract ratification.
- 15:45Table 4. Rcas received salary increase of
- 15:49$1.00 per hour upon completion of three years of service,
- 15:55effective no later than the first full pay period 180 days
- 16:00after contract ratification. These adjustments reflect wage
- 16:04increases of 7.1 to 14.8%, depending on classification over
- 16:11the life of the national agreement.
- 16:12So the projected pay increases for the life of 20242027
- 16:17National Agreement hourly rate of pay.
- 16:20Table 3. Schedule One.
- 16:22This is RCA's hired between August 25th, 1991 and August
- 16:2710th of 2012. You're currently at 2562.
- 16:32You'll go to 2620 effective 11/17/24.
- 16:37Eleven 1525 would be 2681 and 1114 of 26 would be 2745.
- 16:46Table 3. Schedule 2 RC as on the rolls
- 16:50prior to August 24th, 1990. One 2995 is current will go to
- 16:583135 and 32 O 7 and then 3282. Wait, we'd like to make that as
- 17:05all right. Table 4, Table 4.
- 17:09RCAS and Arcs hired on or after August 11th, 2012.
- 17:15Current is 2038 an hour, it'll go to 2139.
- 17:19Effective of 111624111525 will be 2188 and on 11/14 of 26 would
- 17:29be 2239. Now Table 4.
- 17:32Rcas with three years of service or more are currently at 2038.
- 17:38You'll go to 22392288 and 2339. Increase reflects general wage
- 17:47increase applicable to all. An additional 1% increases for
- 17:51Rcas and ART. I'm not against it.
- 17:55It could have been more yes, as we'll all agree on that for the
- 17:59RC, as I do, however, like the fact after three years of
- 18:05service, they do get a bump in pay.
- 18:08As an, you know, as someone who was in RCA for nearly nine
- 18:11years, yeah, it hurt to be making the same amount as the
- 18:14new guy walking in the door that day.
- 18:17So I, I is it perfect? No.
- 18:22Is it a step in the right direction?
- 18:24Yes. No, no go.
- 18:29You were bugging out, James. No, it.
- 18:30Go ahead, though. I think we lost James for a
- 18:32moment. OK, well, no, it's not a step in
- 18:36the right direction, you know, it might be like a stumble.
- 18:41Not a step though. This is the problem.
- 18:45Even when you pay people a good living wage, if they work in a
- 18:49toxic atmosphere they'll walk away.
- 18:52Trust me, I've done it. Back in the 80s, I, I, I was
- 18:56offered $65,000 a year to stay at my position and I wouldn't
- 19:02why? Well, you know, I didn't think
- 19:03it was right that the vice president of the company was
- 19:06sending cocaine down in the payroll packet with, in FedEx to
- 19:09the plant manager. It just rubbed me the wrong way.
- 19:11Call, call me holier than now, but you know, that was my
- 19:15reason. I don't want to work for a
- 19:16company like that. But the fact of the matter is
- 19:18that, you know, even if you think that this is a, a good
- 19:21step in the direction, it's not a living wage.
- 19:26And if you're out in the Midwest where you have to main APOV and
- 19:30we've got, you know, incentives for the, the POV's and all now
- 19:34you're still not making a living wage.
- 19:37What he said something about, oh, you know, a bill, you know,
- 19:40you got to go back and say, you know, it's, you know, if you
- 19:44went back to 2012 when Table 2 started, well in 2012 when it
- 19:48started, it means you have 13 years in towards retirement.
- 19:52And if you're of not of retirement age, of qualifying
- 19:56age and you still have to keep going.
- 19:58So you know, no, this is not address the situation whatsoever
- 20:04because Table 2 so far behind Table 1 and now you know, you've
- 20:09got the Rcas and the RXC. I'm not too concerned about the
- 20:14arts as their part time. You know, people for Sundays and
- 20:17holidays supposedly, but the Rcas themselves, which are the
- 20:21backbone of the rural carriers because they give us breaks off
- 20:26of our routes, they're still suffering.
- 20:28I mean, you know, how many places can you go?
- 20:31You go look up right now, go on your phone and look up local
- 20:33jobs near me and you'll find jobs right off the bat that
- 20:37don't require you to use your vehicle and are paying over
- 20:40$22.00 an hour and some with benefits that you're not getting
- 20:46as an RCA. Oh, you know, they give you, you
- 20:49know, an allowance towards your medical.
- 20:52Oh boy, isn't that nice. Mommy and daddy are giving me an
- 20:55allowance of my piss poor pay, thank you very much.
- 20:59You're so generous. You're so kind and under
- 21:01understanding. Since you haven't carried the
- 21:03route since 2008, you really can empathize with what the craft is
- 21:08going. I'm Madson and whoever's
- 21:10listening for him. Kiss my ass, James.
- 21:13You got me still. Yep, we got Chanel.
- 21:15Yep, got me here. Yep.
- 21:17OK, sorry, go going through the hills here in Nebraska.
- 21:20So but for me it's it's a it's a good push towards something that
- 21:27could be beneficial to RCA. But like Bill said, it's not
- 21:31enough. The RCA that we have today are
- 21:35dealing with a lot more. The part time job is not the
- 21:39lucrative position people want anymore because they need
- 21:43stability, they need money, they need hours.
- 21:48And even with these increases, you're still screwing over some
- 21:52RCA's. And the RCA's you're screwing
- 21:55over are the ones that have more than six years as an RCA because
- 22:00after the first three years, there's nothing left for them to
- 22:03gain other than the standard increases.
- 22:06Now, if it was a dollar raise every three years, I could see a
- 22:10little bit more benefit out of it.
- 22:12But because it's only one raise after three years, which for a
- 22:17lot of Rcas would be beneficial, I do know of an RCA that will
- 22:23end up leaving the Postal Service to retire as an RCA
- 22:29because their route that they're on is an aux route.
- 22:32It's the only one in an office, and they will retire as an RCA
- 22:35because there's no room for growth in their area.
- 22:38They're not getting any benefit out of it.
- 22:39We need to do better for this craft with our Rcas for pay and
- 22:44for our regular carriers. But our Rcas are the backbone
- 22:48that allow regular carriers to have their K routes and have
- 22:53their K days or their J days, allow them to take annual leave,
- 22:58allow them to be sick and use their sick leave.
- 23:01The benefits we get with our national agreement with no RC as
- 23:04we can't use our leave and we'll get into leave a little bit
- 23:08later on this as well. But you're still hurting the
- 23:13craft because people are not going to want to hire in at
- 23:16$22.00 an hour. You have to provide a ten
- 23:20$15,000 vehicle plus parts, maintenance and all that stuff.
- 23:25And you could say, Oh yeah, EMA covers that.
- 23:28Well, I'm sorry, EMA covers a bit, but there's a lot it cannot
- 23:34cover, especially if you blow an engine or you break your your
- 23:38transmission or your axle falls off.
- 23:42Especially on some of these really rural routes that I've
- 23:44seen out here in Nebraska, the roads I've been down, dirt roads
- 23:48that I've been down, our RC as are vital to the rural craft and
- 23:54we need to treat them like they are that vital part of our
- 23:57craft. OK, off my soapbox, next part.
- 24:01All right. Next Article 9.1 Point D
- 24:05granting step increases, the step progression for career
- 24:10rural carriers on Table 2 is reduced from 52 weeks to 50
- 24:16weeks for each step. OK.
- 24:19So you take half a month off? So instead of waiting until
- 24:24November 18th, I'll get it November 4th, all right?
- 24:29Yeah. You know, I, you know, I, I
- 24:32can't, I, I don't have a positive or negative towards
- 24:35this. I, I OK, so two weeks less for
- 24:38the next step increase, OK. How many steps are there 1515?
- 24:4415. OK, so you didn't reduce the
- 24:47number of steps, just the number of you get to your next step?
- 24:50Yes. Yep, which is a which is a total
- 24:53of 30 week, correct? Yes.
- 24:56Yep. OK, which is less?
- 24:58Than half a year. Yep.
- 25:00Well, just over half. A year. 26, Yeah, yeah.
- 25:04So you're saving, you know, a little more than half a year out
- 25:07of year 15 steps. How many on Table 1?
- 25:1012 1/2 I think. 1/12/12 So that's still a difference of
- 25:14what, 3 to 2 1/2 years? 333 years.
- 25:18Probably 2 1/2. Years.
- 25:19Yep. There's still, you know, you're
- 25:21still 2 1/2 years behind. Yeah, OK.
- 25:23All right, here's you guys. Ready for the next one.
- 25:28You got anything to say about that one, James?
- 25:31No, I, I mean, there's not really much to say about it.
- 25:33No there, there really isn't the next one I've already seen lots
- 25:38of questions on raised eyebrows. Article 9.2 Point C .10 Service
- 25:48changes New language eliminates the 60 minute threshold for
- 25:53route adjustments on routes with growth or reduction in boxes
- 25:58delivered in other route elements.
- 26:01That 60 minute threshold was the bank time we had in the past.
- 26:04Changes in evaluation will occur as boxes are added or subtracted
- 26:08from the route, and any salary increases or decreases will be
- 26:13processed immediately. New boxes will be added as they
- 26:16begin delivery. Boxes shall be removed only
- 26:19after 90 days vacancy. The formula uses the volume
- 26:23factor for the route box, service times, drive times, and
- 26:28specific allowances for collection boxes, unit time,
- 26:32dismounts, etcetera to calculate the increase or decrease in
- 26:37evaluation. This earned term adjustment is
- 26:41temporary until the next periodic RX evaluation.
- 26:45It's not going to change weekly people.
- 26:47This would be with edit book submissions.
- 26:50If you got enough make a change in either direction, it's going
- 26:55to, it's going to whether that change is going to affect your
- 26:58standard hours, whether or not you lose enough to go down or
- 27:04you're gaining enough to go up to the next one.
- 27:08You'll get that when that happens, when you submit your
- 27:12edit book on a monthly thing once that's processed.
- 27:15So if you have one of those routes that's up and down, up
- 27:18and down, up and down all the time because you got people in
- 27:20and out or whatever, that may be an issue.
- 27:24But basically it's eliminating what used to be the old bank.
- 27:28So if you have a route that has growth, so, you know, mini mail
- 27:32survey, you come back at a 42 Ki don't even have the standard
- 27:37hours in front of me. But let's say you're just a few
- 27:40minutes away from going to a 43 and you activate enough boxes it
- 27:46it'll bump you up after you after that month that you do
- 27:50your edit book submission and your mapping and whatnot.
- 27:53The same as if you have a bunch of people that vacate or you
- 27:57lose boxes and you're close enough to lose down to that next
- 28:00standard hour. Then that's what's going to
- 28:03happen after obviously edit book changes, mapping, whatever.
- 28:08It's not going to be something that's going to affect you
- 28:11paycheck to paycheck. It's if it's enough of the
- 28:13information to change if it changes your standard hours up
- 28:17to and it's only temporary until the next mini mail survey time
- 28:21when we get those evaluations that I think this is one of
- 28:24them. I definitely want to read the
- 28:27hard copy when that comes out with a little bit more
- 28:29information as well as information at a ratification
- 28:33meeting, guys. Yeah, I was, I was looking at
- 28:35this. I was looking at this and I
- 28:37definitely, definitely need the language on that because it's
- 28:40one of those that it's very close on a lot of things.
- 28:44And the question you have to ask yourself is, is this basing it
- 28:49on our dispute times too? Like if we dispute something and
- 28:52get that change in our base evaluation, when they go and do
- 28:58these interim adjustments, does it go on that the original mini
- 29:02meal survey amount or does it go on the dispute amount that we
- 29:04got awarded? Does it does it translate into
- 29:07that? And also you're talking like on
- 29:09mine, because I've seen it with the mapping, with the LTM.
- 29:13When I do my mapping, when I add or remove a box, I get 3 minutes
- 29:17one way or the other. So if I lose 3 minutes and it
- 29:22takes me down to the next hour, you know, I'm working for free
- 29:2530 minutes by the basis of the standard hours.
- 29:29But you know, so I really want to see the language on this, but
- 29:33I think it's actually a good thing because the bank time,
- 29:37holding that time, stuff like that, we're literally seeing the
- 29:41time every month when we do the mapping.
- 29:44So if we should be paid the time that we see on the mapping, not
- 29:47waiting on bank and. Like, you know, several people
- 29:50posted in the comments was, you know, how's this affect the the
- 29:53routes that are supposedly frozen for a year because, you
- 29:57know, like you said, you need more, you need more information
- 30:00to see how that pertains to those instances or the people
- 30:04frozen for over a year. And from my understanding in
- 30:08that MOU that the interim adjustments would still be
- 30:14probable for them or happen if, if needed.
- 30:19So again, the clarification with that and with the MOU on those
- 30:23routes that are frozen. So are we ready for the next
- 30:27one? This is a brand new one.
- 30:28Go for it. Article 10.2 Point This is new
- 30:35annual leave exchange options. Career employees will be allowed
- 30:39to sell back a maximum of 40 hours of annual leave prior to
- 30:46the beginning of the leave year, provided the following two
- 30:50criteria are met. One, the employee is at the
- 30:54maximum leave carryover ceiling at the start of the leave year,
- 30:59and two, the employee must have used fewer than 72 sick leave
- 31:05hours in the leave year immediately preceding the year
- 31:10for which the leave is being exchanged.
- 31:13So basically if you're one of those that has you don't use any
- 31:17sick leave and you can't get to use any of your annual leave and
- 31:22you have the maximum leave carryover at the start of the
- 31:26leave year already banked, you can cash out 40 hours.
- 31:29So you cash out one week of leave.
- 31:32I can see management using this to abuse.
- 31:36I can see management turning around and saying, oh, I can't
- 31:39approve your leave, just buy back that last week.
- 31:41I don't know about you guys, but anything that opens up for abuse
- 31:45by management like this right here where they could actually
- 31:50cause you to have a week of leave left, I'll just buy it
- 31:53back. You can have the cash.
- 31:55But you it it, you can't do that if you have a week, if you have
- 31:5840 hours left, you have to meet the two criteria.
- 32:01In order to do that, you have to have the maximum leave carryover
- 32:06ceiling at the start of the leave year, and you must have
- 32:11used fewer than 72 sick leave hours in the leave year in
- 32:15which. Again, what about if they're at
- 32:19the maximum carryover the year prior?
- 32:22Management doesn't give them any leave.
- 32:24You know, yes, you can grieve that and so on and so forth, but
- 32:27they're saying 40 hours is the most they'll pay out in the
- 32:30contract on this. I need to see the language on
- 32:33this a little bit better and the new the tentative agreement.
- 32:36Personally I just I don't like it.
- 32:38It gives me the heebie jeebies on on what management could do
- 32:41with that. Exactly.
- 32:42Yeah. And and if you know, here's the
- 32:44problem to me is that OK, this this is an incentive for, you
- 32:49know, carriers, not the the lose leave at the end of the year.
- 32:52OK, but it's only 5 days. I mean, you're allowed up to 55
- 32:58days currently, right? Unless they bump it up to the 65
- 33:01like they have. So you're only taking five days
- 33:05off. But if you use three days, 72
- 33:09hours of sick leave in the prior year, well, I'm sorry, what
- 33:14does, what does that have to do with my damn annual leave and
- 33:18being, you know, in an office without enough Subs, without
- 33:21enough, you know, coverage so I can take my duly earned time
- 33:25off. You know, I took 3-3 days off
- 33:28because I had to go to the, you know, doctors or I had to take a
- 33:31child to the doctors or, or a parent even to the doctors in
- 33:35the prior year. Come on, you know, you turned
- 33:39around and and you, you put a carrot out there for us.
- 33:42OK, That's what it is. It's a carrot.
- 33:45And, and I'm not saying it's, you know, not a worthwhile
- 33:47carrot, but you put a carrot out there and then you put
- 33:51conditions on it. Well, what the hell for?
- 33:53Aren't we working enough already that you just can't let us cash
- 33:56that out if we want? All right, you ready for the
- 34:00next one? Sure.
- 34:01Article 12.2 Point A .2 Seniority lists new language
- 34:08clarifies that seniority lists and any updates must be provided
- 34:13to the NRLCA district representative for the office.
- 34:17So management has to submit the seniority lists and any time it
- 34:21updates to the Dr. OK, it just clarifies that they have to do
- 34:25that so I'm going to move on. Article 12.3 Rural Carrier
- 34:30Posting Paragraph B changed to reflect 7 calendar days for a
- 34:38local posting instead of the current 10 calendar days.
- 34:42Paragraph D changed to reflect 10 calendar days for a district
- 34:47posting instead of the current 15 calendar days.
- 34:51It's just speeds up the process. Yeah, that's all it does.
- 34:55I'm not. This doesn't bother me one bit,
- 34:57whether it was 7 days or 10 days.
- 35:00So Yep, all right, Article 24.2 leave for union conventions add
- 35:09specific language to include area conferences for approval of
- 35:13leave. My assumption on this is
- 35:17carriers were getting fight back from management to say that area
- 35:22it wasn't area conferences aren't conventions.
- 35:25So. So we're just clarifying that
- 35:27language, No big deal. Oh, my God, that, that.
- 35:32Thank you, Thank you. Don't talk.
- 35:34That. That was a huge win.
- 35:37Yes, that was a huge win. My God.
- 35:40Ready, James? Yep, go ahead.
- 35:43All right, Article 30.2 point 8.3 changed to reflect 7
- 35:49calendar days for a local posting of a new part time
- 35:52flexible position instead of the current 10 calendar days.
- 35:56Paragraph E changed to reflect 10 calendar days for a district
- 36:00posting of a new PTF position instead of the current 15
- 36:05calendar days. OK, self-explanatory.
- 36:08And the purpose of that, the purpose of that.
- 36:10Speed up the process. Of the other ones.
- 36:13Yeah. All right.
- 36:15You, you, you, you say speed up, I hear whittle down.
- 36:19That too. OK.
- 36:22All right. Article 30.2 Point B
- 36:26Probationary period The probationary period for rule
- 36:30carry associate shall be 90 days actually worked or 180 calendar
- 36:38days, whichever comes first. The probationary period for an
- 36:42assistant rule carrier shall be 90 days actually worked or one
- 36:47calendar year, whichever comes first.
- 36:49So for Rcas, your probationary period, if you don't meet the 90
- 36:54days actually worked, will then be shortened to six months
- 36:57instead of one year. Arcs are going to do 1.
- 37:02I think that's a good one because that feeds right into
- 37:06the next one. You guys ready?
- 37:07Do you have anything about a probationary period?
- 37:10OK, I'm good. I don't think that's a bad one.
- 37:12Article 30.2 point 8.3 language change to reflect that non
- 37:20probationary Rcas as redefined and 30.2 point B shall be
- 37:29considered for office or district postings of PTF
- 37:34position. I like it but I want more
- 37:36clarification on it. What was that, James?
- 37:45You're robotting. So I am going to go to Bill,
- 37:47Real Bill. Well, I think that it's a good
- 37:55that if it's what we think it is, which is allowing
- 37:58probationaries or just off probationary.
- 38:04Like I said, this is one that I would more and have some clerk
- 38:07say yeah, you'll be able to bid on APTF once you're out of
- 38:10probation. I can't say that limited again,
- 38:13this is just a highlight. You have anything to add Bill?
- 38:16OK. MOMOU 3 bereavement leave
- 38:21language revised to include grandchild in the deaf.
- 38:25It's said that we have to OK and the last one MOU 8 right hand
- 38:32Dr. Incentives for utilizing a right hand drive vehicle on an
- 38:37EMA route are increased as follows.
- 38:41Incentive for purchase of new right hand drive vehicle
- 38:44increased from 1500 to $3000. Incentive for converting a
- 38:49vehicle to right hand Dr. increased from 500 to 1500
- 38:54dollars. An incentive to purchase of used
- 38:58right hand drive increase from 500 to 5th.
- 39:01Incentives represent a 100% increase for new right hand
- 39:05drive vehicles and a 200% increase for conversions and
- 39:09used right hand drive vehicle. Again, you still have to follow
- 39:13the provisions under yeah uses meaningless 3 or that is the
- 39:17highlight. What was that?
- 39:19I think we lost and I can't hear Bill.
- 39:20I can see you talking, but I can.
- 39:23He's not muted, It's an. No, I'm not muted.
- 39:26There he is. There we go.
- 39:28So yeah, these are just highlights of the tentative
- 39:31agreement. Like I said, when the hard copy
- 39:33comes out and you get it in your mailbox, please read it.
- 39:38If you can attend a ratification meeting because you have
- 39:42questions, please try to attend. No, I, I don't want to just stay
- 39:46on your back and tell you it's raining outside, Kristen.
- 39:49But when you attend those meetings, you can vent, You can,
- 39:53you can disagree, you can argue, you can get into a fist fight.
- 39:57It doesn't change the outcome of the tentative agreement that has
- 40:02to be voted on. No it doesn't.
- 40:04Change, but it at least it doesn't questions.
- 40:07Well, yeah, to. Help you decide.
- 40:09I I think that like you said on several of these that we need to
- 40:13see the complete language on there and not just the
- 40:16highlights. I agree.
- 40:19I'll, I'll still go back to my original summation that, you
- 40:23know, Don is a weasel and a spineless piece of shit doing
- 40:27this on the way out of Western states.
- 40:30And the fact that, you know, this is a mirror image of the
- 40:34the contract with the NLAC. The difference is that actually
- 40:39their new hires got a better step up than ours in regards to
- 40:45jumping over the AA and the A&B steps in their program.
- 40:50So, you know, they, they jumped up basically three steps out of
- 40:53their table. And we're, we're not doing that
- 40:57at all. And it's just, it's a, it's a
- 41:00crying shame. Just I Oh yeah.
- 41:04He said it was coming out, about to come out basically at Western
- 41:07States. Yeah, as soon as he got out of
- 41:09the damn conference, as soon as he got on the airplane, he
- 41:14called Alexandria and says, OK, put it up on the website now
- 41:18safe. But we still have mid stage.
- 41:20Oh God, I will be lively. I it'll be interesting to see
- 41:26how it goes. That's all I got to say and I
- 41:29will be there. I don't do part time flexible
- 41:31position instead of the current 10 calendar days.
- 41:35Paragraph E changed to reflect 10 calendar days for a district
- 41:39posting of a new PTF position instead of the current 15
- 41:43calendar days. OK, self-explanatory.
- 41:46And the purpose of that, the purpose of that.
- 41:49Speed up the process. Of the other ones.
- 41:52Yeah. All right.
- 41:53You, you, you, you say speed up, I hear whittle down.
- 41:58That too. OK.
- 42:01Alright, Article 30.2 Point B Probationary period The
- 42:07probationary period for rule carry associate shall be 90 days
- 42:12actually worked or 180 calendar days, whichever comes first.
- 42:19The probationary period for an assistant rule carrier shall be
- 42:2390 days actually worked or one calendar year, whichever comes
- 42:27first. So for Rcas, your probationary
- 42:30period, if you don't meet the 90 days actually worked, will then
- 42:34be shortened to six months instead of one year.
- 42:39Arcs are going to do 1. I think that's a good one 'cause
- 42:42that feeds right into the next one.
- 42:45You guys ready? Do you have anything about a
- 42:47probationary period? OK, I'm good.
- 42:49I don't think that's a bad one. Article 30.2 point 8.3 language
- 42:56change to reflect that non probationary Rcas as redefined
- 43:03and 30.2 point B shall be considered for office or
- 43:09district postings of PTF position.
- 43:13I like it, but I want more clarification.
- 43:16On it. What was that, James?
- 43:23You're robotting, so I'm going to go to Bill Real.
- 43:28Quick, Bill, Well, I think that it's a good that if it's what we
- 43:35think it is, which is allowing probationaries or just off
- 43:39probationary. Like I said this is one that I
- 43:44would more and have some Clair say yeah you'll be able to bid
- 43:47on APTF once you're out of probation.
- 43:50I can't say that limited again, this is just a highlight.
- 43:53You have anything to add Bill? OK MOMOU 3 bereavement leave
- 44:00language revised to include grandchild in the It's said that
- 44:04we have to OK and the last one MOU 8 right hand Dr. Incentives
- 44:12for utilizing a right hand drive vehicle on an EMA route are
- 44:17increased as follows. Incentive for purchase of new
- 44:21right hand drive vehicle increased from 1500 to $3000.
- 44:27Incentive for converting a vehicle to right hand Dr.
- 44:30increased from 500 to 1500 dollars.
- 44:34An incentive to purchase of used right hand drive increase from
- 44:38500 to 5th. Incentives represent a 100%
- 44:42increase for new right hand drive vehicles and a 200%
- 44:46increase for conversions and used right hand drive vehicle.
- 44:49Again, you still have to follow the provisions under yeah uses
- 44:53meaningless 3 or that is the highlight.
- 44:56What was that? I think we lost and I can't hear
- 44:59Bill. I can see you talking, but I
- 45:01can. He's not muted, It's an.
- 45:04No, I'm not muted. There he is.
- 45:06There we go. So yeah, these are just
- 45:08highlights of the tentative agreement.
- 45:10Like I said, when the hard copy comes out and you get it in your
- 45:13mailbox, please read it. If you can attend a ratification
- 45:18meeting because you have questions, please try to attend.
- 45:23No, I, I don't want to just stay on your back and tell you it's
- 45:26raining outside, Kristen. But when you attend those
- 45:30meetings, you can vent, You can, you can disagree, you can argue,
- 45:34you can get into a fist fight. It doesn't change the outcome of
- 45:39the tentative agreement that has to be voted on.
- 45:41No it doesn't. Change, but it at least it
- 45:44doesn't questions. Well, yeah.
- 45:47To help you decide. I I think that like you said on
- 45:50several of these that we need to see the complete language on
- 45:53there and not just the highlights.
- 45:55I agree. I'll I'll still go back to my
- 45:59original summation that, you know, Don is a weasel and a
- 46:03spineless piece of shit doing this on the way out of western
- 46:08states. And the fact that, you know,
- 46:10this is a mirror image of the the contract with the NLAC.
- 46:15Difference is that actually their new hires got a better
- 46:20step up than ours in regards to jumping over the AA and the A&B
- 46:27steps in their program. So, you know, they, they jumped
- 46:30up basically three steps out of their table.
- 46:34And we're, we're not doing that at all.
- 46:36And it's just, it's a, it's a crying shame.
- 46:39Just I. Oh yeah.
- 46:43He said it was coming out, about to come out basically at Western
- 46:46States. Yeah, as soon as he got out of
- 46:47the damn conference, as soon as he got on the airplane, he
- 46:52called Alexandria and says, OK, put it up on the website now
- 46:56safe. But we still have mid state.
- 46:59Oh God, I will be lively. I it'll be interesting to see
- 47:05how it goes. That's all I got to say.
- 47:07I will be there. I know.
- 47:08I'm just surprised like, like, like James said was, you know,
- 47:12there was only about 80 participants at, at the Western
- 47:15states. I'm baffled by that.
- 47:19I mean, you, you've got close to, you know what, 22,000
- 47:22carriers out there from Western states at least and 80 people
- 47:27showed up And how many, how many of them were NSS or state
- 47:33officers? Yeah, the mid state crowd, we'll
- 47:36see how that goes. So I'm sorry about cutting out.
- 47:40I mean, I lost signal for there for a minute.
- 47:42Yeah, I know. You hear me now?
- 47:43Yep, we wrapped it up. So I mean, if you got anything
- 47:48else to add on those last couple things, which was bereavement in
- 47:53the right hand drive vehicle. I, I, you know, like I said,
- 47:56it's kind of sad that you actually have to add the
- 47:58language in of a grandchild. Yeah, yeah, I, I think that like
- 48:02you said on several of these that we need to see the complete
- 48:05language on there and not just the highlights.
- 48:08I agree. I'll, I'll still go back to my
- 48:12original summation that, you know, Ron is a weasel and a
- 48:16spineless piece of shit doing this on the way out of Western
- 48:21states. And the fact that, you know,
- 48:23this is a mirror image of the contract with the NLAC.
- 48:28The difference is that actually their new hires got a better
- 48:33step up than ours in regards to jumping over the AA and the A&B
- 48:40steps in their program. So yeah, they, they jumped up
- 48:43basically three steps out of their table.
- 48:47And we're, we're not doing that at all.
- 48:49And it's just, it's a, it's a crying shame.
- 48:52Just I. Oh yeah.
- 48:55He said it was coming out, about to come out basically at Western
- 48:58States. Yeah, as soon as he got out of
- 49:00the damn conference, as soon as he got on the airplane, he
- 49:05called Alexandria and says, OK, put it up on the website now
- 49:09safe. But we still have mid state.
- 49:11Oh God, I will be lively. I it'll be interesting to see
- 49:17how it goes. That's all I got to say.
- 49:20I will be there. I know.
- 49:21I'm just surprised like, like James said was, you know, there
- 49:24was only about 80 participants at, at the Western states.
- 49:30I'm baffled by that. I mean, you, you've got close
- 49:33to, you know what, 22,000 carriers out there from Western
- 49:37states at least and 80 people showed up and how many, how many
- 49:43of them were NSS or state officers?
- 49:47Yeah, the mid state crowd, we'll see how that goes.
- 49:52So I'm sorry about cutting out. I mean, I lost signal for there
- 49:54for a minute. Yeah, I know.
- 49:55You hear me now? Yep, we wrapped it up.
- 49:57So I mean, if you got anything else to add on those last couple
- 50:02things, which was bereavement in the right hand drive vehicle.
- 50:07I, I, you know, like I said, it's kind of sad that you have
- 50:10to add the language in of a grandchild.
- 50:12Yeah, yeah. Yep, and I think the one the one
- 50:16thing that irritates me the most if.
- 50:18That happened to my grandchild. I wouldn't be there anyway
- 50:20because I'd be in jail for manslaughter somewhere along the
- 50:23line. Not that I believe in violence.
- 50:285550. Yeah, sing that.
- 50:33I think you're going to change the most barfest.
- 50:35No, you got me. We lost James for good.
- 50:38Do you have me? No, we've got James back.
- 50:41Bill. Bill.
- 50:41Is he in? Yeah, he's in.
- 50:43I can hear him. I can hear Bill.
- 50:45He can hear you. That sounds.
- 50:48Selective hearing, huh? I think that I I think the thing
- 50:54that irritates you the most about this is he he, Yeah.
- 50:57Bill ain't going to hear me talking.
- 50:58So. Same way I drifted off of there
- 51:00and nothing changed. So that's.
- 51:03Yeah, Bill can't hear James talk, so I think we should
- 51:06probably wrap it up. What do you say guys?
- 51:08Wrap it up. Go.
- 51:10Ahead. All right.
- 51:11So again, I am letting you guys know this is a tentative
- 51:16agreement. There is still the hard copy to
- 51:19come out. Please read that there's still
- 51:22going to be ratification meetings.
- 51:24If you can attend, please do. This is where you're going to
- 51:29get a little bit more information than just the
- 51:33highlighted points that was put out today.
- 51:36This is just the starting point of changes getting the tentative
- 51:40agreement in the mail. Do not throw it away.
- 51:42Read it through, you know I'm not going to make a decision on
- 51:47which way I'm going to vote until after ratification meeting
- 51:51and I have a hard copy in my hand so you know I.
- 51:56I can tell you. Go ahead, Bill.
- 51:58I can tell you I'm not. I'm not voting for it.
- 52:00Well, no, you won't even get a ballot for it.
- 52:02Shut up. OK, That's beside the.
- 52:04Point and for those that do not know, retirees do not vote on
- 52:09contracts on tentative agreement.
- 52:12So on that note, James, you got anything to add or are you good
- 52:16for this evening? Well, I think the biggest thing
- 52:18that we have to look at on this is what is it benefiting the
- 52:22craft It's. Jarv, that is true.
- 52:25L James is talking. OK, I'll be the middle woman
- 52:30here. You know, we were, we were
- 52:35promised multiple things throughout this contract
- 52:38negotiation and the biggest thing that gets me the most is
- 52:411. He told us we were this close to
- 52:44a contract ratification and it'd be within a few days, not just
- 52:4924 hours after he says that. I mean, granted, that's within a
- 52:53few days, but he also promised that RCA should get more than
- 52:5950% that the CCA's got when the city arbitration got through or
- 53:04the negotiations got through in arbitration, but we get $0.05
- 53:09more. I guess that's what he thinks
- 53:11RCA's are worth is $0.05 more on on the initial drop.
- 53:16Well, we'll see how it turns out because I want to read the whole
- 53:20thing. I want to go through and see if
- 53:21there is anything that's not in the highlights that's been
- 53:24changed as well. So go ahead, Matt.
- 53:27You know it's up to us as carriers to step up and make the
- 53:31choice that best benefits the craft in the whole long run.
- 53:35You got to think past this contract, what's the next one
- 53:38going to look like? Because we're coming up on that
- 53:40one fast. So you don't just think about
- 53:43now think about our future, because at the end of the day,
- 53:48we're all in this together. Bill.
- 53:51Final comment. Well, this TA is basically along
- 53:54the lines that we expected it to for the raises where there are
- 53:59some minute gains and and I do use that frivolously in regards
- 54:05to the pay and the probationary period, the right hand drive
- 54:11vehicle incentive it there's not enough there to be encouraging.
- 54:18You know, like you said, the retirees can't vote on the
- 54:20contract, but yet retirees go to the National Convention, they
- 54:25vote for somebody who's going to sit there and say, oh, you know,
- 54:28make sure you get the Colas and this and that.
- 54:30You know, that's the only thing that can can possibly affect
- 54:33them. But you know that that's the
- 54:36only thing. I I mean, what's the point of
- 54:39having retirees there that have been, you know, hey, in in my,
- 54:44my state alone, I've, I've got four or five of them.
- 54:47I've been delivered routes in almost 15 years.
- 54:51We just had a secretary, treasurer retire, hadn't
- 54:54delivered his route in in almost 20 years.
- 54:56So you know what, what do we need you there for?
- 55:00OK. And you know a lot of people,
- 55:02you know, like Joey Johnson, I'm on the fence with him in regards
- 55:06to a lot of things. Yes, he has the wealth of
- 55:08knowledge and everything. But if you're going to sit there
- 55:11and say I'd give up my nomination, you know, my by seat
- 55:15on the National Convention to somebody who else wanted to go,
- 55:18well, you know, we had 30 plus people behind them that would
- 55:22have went. And you know, you're you're
- 55:25taking a voice away from an active carrier who has, you
- 55:29know, some part of this fight for their their better interest.
- 55:35You know, to to him it there is no fight.
- 55:38He doesn't have a dog in this fight.
- 55:40So you know, as as as a recent retiree, am I going to be here
- 55:461010 years from now going to the national conventions?
- 55:49Hell no. In five years, hell no.
- 55:52You know, it's going to be on you people that to step forward
- 55:56and step out. Like I, I sent out a local
- 55:59meeting notice for our chapter. There are two other chapters
- 56:03looking to join us because they can't get enough people to
- 56:08attend 4 local meetings a year. And and that's just disgraceful.
- 56:13It really is. And then the people sit there
- 56:15and say, well, they don't do anything for us.
- 56:18Nobody's going to do anything for you until you do something
- 56:20for yourself and step up, you know, step up, speak out, become
- 56:24a leader. Just don't be a sheep all your
- 56:26life. You know, all bills being mean
- 56:29now, you know the language I put in my letter about, you know,
- 56:33the craft being disillusioned. The state secretary says, well,
- 56:37you can't put that in there Bill, because you'll offend some
- 56:39people. I intend to offend people
- 56:42because maybe then you'll get angry enough to get up off your
- 56:46asses and participate in your career and not leave it in the
- 56:51hands of a bunch of professional politicians who don't want to
- 56:55carry their routes. Any.
- 56:56So if you don't step up, if you don't speak up, then in the
- 56:59words of mortal Bill may shut the hell up.
- 57:02Everybody you know, you got tomorrow to work.
- 57:04I hope everybody's going to have a a happy Easter.
- 57:07Enjoy it with your families safe tomorrow, be courteous, be
- 57:11professional, make sure yourself get yourself home because you
- 57:14are the most important delivery of the day.
- 57:15All right. Thank you guys.
- 57:17And I'm going to touch out of what?
- 57:18Bill was saying about, you know, with his locals.
- 57:21My annual meeting was Wednesday. Our our constitution says we
- 57:26have to have 5 for a quorum. We were minutes away from losing
- 57:32our local unit and being dissolved.
- 57:34It was myself, the two other board members and Ruby, four.
- 57:39That is not a quorum by our by our local council.
- 57:42Us three board members were on the phones trying to get whoever
- 57:47one more person. Luckily, one person that was
- 57:51local to our we were holding our meeting had just finished what
- 57:55they were doing and came in. They literally saved our local,
- 58:02our local unit, just that one person for our annual meeting.
- 58:07Our state says we have to have a minimum of one meeting a year.
- 58:11That's our annual meeting. Our last meeting we had was our
- 58:14annual meeting last year. This is why it's important to go
- 58:20because if my local would have been dissolved, I don't know
- 58:23which one we would have gone to. But that means my local meetings
- 58:26would then, instead of being an hour away where they've been
- 58:29currently would have been two hours, give or take, wherever we
- 58:32would have gone at. You know, the IT, it was
- 58:34heartbreaking. It was, it was stressful, But
- 58:38thankfully that one person showed up to save our local.
- 58:43And and you know, that's the important things of, you know,
- 58:46being active. I understand that sometimes it's
- 58:50hard, especially after you work. I've already, we already decided
- 58:54our next meeting was going to be an informal meeting.
- 58:58It was going to be on a Sunday, early afternoon family friendly
- 59:02BBQ cookout trying to pull people in.
- 59:05You know, I want, I'm still only the vice president, which is
- 59:09fine, but I'm still tossing the ideas out to my other two board
- 59:14members to try and get people to come to be active.
- 59:18I mean, there's, you know, I understand if you can't go to
- 59:21some of the other meetings or the state stuff.
- 59:23And I understand how hard it can be to go to a local regional
- 59:27district meeting. However, county, however, your,
- 59:32your state doesn't because of the distance.
- 59:34Like I said, it's an hour drive for me where we've been having
- 59:37them. I want to rotate locations like
- 59:39I did in my previous. SO that's what I'm working on to
- 59:42try and get people that way. If we rotate those locations
- 59:46each time, you know, bringing a guest speaker in, you know,
- 59:50trying to do what we can to save our local unit, you know, you
- 59:53find information out, you meet your other carriers from the
- 59:56other offices when you go to your local meetings.
- 1:00:00That's how you network with people just to say, oh, hey, I,
- 1:00:04you know, you get that delegate ballot for national and you
- 1:00:07recognize the name on there because you just met him at a
- 1:00:10local meeting or something. Or maybe you remember.
- 1:00:13Oh yeah, so and so at the local meeting was talking about this
- 1:00:15person. That's how you start to
- 1:00:17recognize who you want to vote for, for national delegate, you
- 1:00:22know, and I'm not going to say, you know, OK, the highlights
- 1:00:25were out there. I've seen already so much on
- 1:00:27social media today going I'm voting no, I'm voting no.
- 1:00:31And I've seen polls up and you guys, this is just a highlight.
- 1:00:35This is a small glimpse before anybody makes a final decision,
- 1:00:41you know, do the homework before you, you know, you could you
- 1:00:45submit that ballot once they come out to whether or not the
- 1:00:49you want to ratify or not ratify them.
- 1:00:53I'm not going to tell anybody how to vote.
- 1:00:55I, you know, if I personally right now don't know what I'm
- 1:00:57going to vote yet because I'm going to wait.
- 1:00:59So, you know, don't take things hastily.
- 1:01:02But at the same time, I mean, I get it upset, you know, yeah, I
- 1:01:06wish general wage increases were a little bit more.
- 1:01:08But you know, that's where the true divide amongst the craft
- 1:01:12is. I mean, I see it so much.
- 1:01:14We got blamed for dividing the craft at National a several
- 1:01:19time. And everybody knows my goal was
- 1:01:21to try and bring people in to be active.
- 1:01:23You know, even if it's just voting on a ratification, voting
- 1:01:27for a delegate, you know, that's the smallest things you can do,
- 1:01:33be active if you are unable to go to anything else.
- 1:01:37I want to bring people together. The divide amongst the craft
- 1:01:41needs to stop the divide. We need to quit attacking each
- 1:01:45other. You know, if somebody has a
- 1:01:47legitimate, you know, a question that is legitimate to them but
- 1:01:51redundant or stupid, there is no reason to go off and belittle
- 1:01:55them about it. You know, the same thing with
- 1:01:57somebody says yes, this, you know, this tentative agreement
- 1:02:00looks good. I'm going to vote yes.
- 1:02:02Even if you don't agree with them, there's no reason to be
- 1:02:05harsh and belittle them. You know, just move on.
- 1:02:10Scroll past. It's ridiculous guys, I think.
- 1:02:14Or attack them. You.
- 1:02:16Know the attacking needs to. Stop.
- 1:02:18We are not. I posted that up on Facebook.
- 1:02:22Kristen, excuse me, I posted on Facebook, somebody asked a
- 1:02:24question like you said it, it may be pertinent to them.
- 1:02:27And I said stop belittling each other.
- 1:02:30You know, if you, if this person doesn't know the question, it's
- 1:02:35it's you know for us to answer. If you don't have something nice
- 1:02:39to say, OK or direction to point them in, then shut the hell up.
- 1:02:44Don't be on for social media just to get your top contributor
- 1:02:49points up. If you don't want to help, then
- 1:02:51don't say anything. I mean, Jesus Christ, we have
- 1:02:54enough division in, in our own offices in regards to people who
- 1:02:58cheat work off the clock and everything else.
- 1:03:01But the fact of the matter is that, you know, you are not
- 1:03:04going to get ahead by fighting each other.
- 1:03:08The fight is with management. The fight is with the national
- 1:03:11board getting proper representation.
- 1:03:14I mean, you're, you're, you're struggling to get people to come
- 1:03:16to your meetings. We're, we're, our next meeting
- 1:03:19is May 1st. And you know what, you know, we
- 1:03:20provide for Olive Garden. We're going to have lasagna,
- 1:03:23we're going to have Alfredo. We're going to have the chicken
- 1:03:26gnocchi soup and salad and breadsticks and all that.
- 1:03:29And and even then it's hard to get more than 12 to 15 people
- 1:03:34there, and that's out of almost 200 for our local chapter.
- 1:03:37This is the second time I have been to a meeting.
- 1:03:40Where it was a three board, two other and at that time I was one
- 1:03:43of those other people 'cause I when the other one was a
- 1:03:44retiree. And we're actually surprised
- 1:03:46that we did not see him at this one 'cause he's always there,
- 1:03:50which is great, you know. But it the sheer fact that we
- 1:03:53spent 45 minutes texting and calling other carriers within
- 1:03:59our local to say, Hey, can you get here?
- 1:04:01Hey, can you come? Hey, hey, hey.
- 1:04:04I had one that said I would have loved to been there, but they
- 1:04:07had had oral surgery that day. So obviously that I'm not going
- 1:04:11to, you know, I thought I had my RCA's outside of Ruby lined up
- 1:04:16to go and one was but then had an incident with their kid at
- 1:04:20school. So they had to take care of that
- 1:04:22issue. The other two forgot about it
- 1:04:25and made other you know, I and nobody else in my office has
- 1:04:29ever gone to a carrier wise that's still there.
- 1:04:33It is, it really is. And I mean, I get it like, you
- 1:04:37know, talking to a fellow carrier today who, you know,
- 1:04:40initially wanted to go, but you got to realize when it's on a
- 1:04:43Wednesday evening and it's an hour away after you run the
- 1:04:47route. I mean, I got home at 10:00 and
- 1:04:49you know, they would have had another half hour drive beyond
- 1:04:52and then have to get up and run the Roth the next day.
- 1:04:55I get it, it's hard. That's why I proposed our next
- 1:04:59meeting be on a Sunday early afternoon.
- 1:05:02So people after people get out of church and you know, bring
- 1:05:05the family, we'll do a cookout. I'm going to check and see if
- 1:05:09our at our local beach park here has how much it is to rent A to
- 1:05:13book a pavilion and, you know, try and do that it.
- 1:05:17I don't know what else we can do guys, but I, I'm just going to
- 1:05:21say stop attacking each other, you know, because you know,
- 1:05:25maybe you've got great management or you got horrible
- 1:05:28management as we all do a different degrees of one
- 1:05:30another. But if you know, you have newer
- 1:05:33carriers, whether it's a newer RCA or newer regular, maybe even
- 1:05:36somebody that's been around for a while and now has an issue
- 1:05:39they've never dealt with before and it may be something you've
- 1:05:42been dealing with with years. That's no freaking reason to
- 1:05:45attack them like they're stupid. That's where you want to mentor
- 1:05:50them and coach them and guide them through how to deal with
- 1:05:53that issue, not turn around and attack them and belittle them.
- 1:05:56It's getting old folks. That is the true divide within
- 1:06:00our craft. And on that note, I'm going to
- 1:06:04get off my soapbox now because I do have to edit this and I on a
- 1:06:08rant. I.
- 1:06:10It's. It's hard to leave that all in
- 1:06:12there I am. Leave that in there.
- 1:06:15I. I am.
- 1:06:16I you. Know guys it it's if it's any
- 1:06:19time it's now is the time to not divide but to come.
- 1:06:23Hey, Kristen. Yes.
- 1:06:25Chris. Chris.
- 1:06:26You know. We, we're our May 1st meeting is
- 1:06:30the last one before our state convention, OK.
- 1:06:33And I'm secretary Treasurer, we're flush with cash.
- 1:06:37So over the past four or five years, we have barely had three
- 1:06:42out of the possible 20 delegates go to the state convention that
- 1:06:48we're allowed OK, that we're allocated this year we're I'm,
- 1:06:51I'm, I'm offering the locals going to pick up your hotel bill
- 1:06:56plus a $250 convention per diem because we, we need you to get
- 1:07:02involved. I you know.
- 1:07:06I would love to be. I wish we did.
- 1:07:08We unfortunately don't have the funds for that.
- 1:07:10We have a cap and you know it. The attendees split, but that's
- 1:07:15my thing is for the last several years that I've been in this
- 1:07:19local, we've had two delegates, myself and one of the other
- 1:07:22board members. This year is going to be the
- 1:07:25first time we have three. We almost had four, but the 4th
- 1:07:28one had a drop out due to personal reasons.
- 1:07:31But we'll have three this year, myself, my other board member
- 1:07:35and three out of a possible 12. Last year we had one.
- 1:07:40Out of a possible 20 What was that James?
- 1:07:44I was going to say your passion for the craft.
- 1:07:46Is showing. Hey it does sometimes.
- 1:07:48Maybe I need? It too a little bit.
- 1:07:49All right, I am wrapping this up now.
- 1:07:51Officially. This is the midweek bonus.
- 1:07:55Well, it's the end of the week bonus.
- 1:07:57It's just a bonus episode due to the tentative agreement coming
- 1:08:00out today. Again, tentative agreement just
- 1:08:04highlights. Wait until you get your hard
- 1:08:07copy in the mail. Try to attend a ratification
- 1:08:11meeting if you can, then make your decision on how you're
- 1:08:15going to vote. And please vote.
- 1:08:19I'm not going to tell you how to vote.
- 1:08:20That's your own personal decision on one you want to vote
- 1:08:23yay or nay? I'm just going to ask you to
- 1:08:27vote. 131,000 people. Can we get better than an 18%
- 1:08:35vote turn out? Let just vote people.
