  All right, what's up, everyone? This is the very first show of Evolution.

  My name is Brandon Fogel, and I'm so glad you dropped in today.

  It is February the 4th. It's a new chapter, a new chapter in the way that we're

  going. So today we're going to actually talk about a few different things,
• 0:16
  but putting away childish things and what does that actually mean?
• 0:20
  And now that's actually taken from the context of a book of the Bible,
• 0:24
  Corinthians by the Apostle Paul, and we're going to dive into that,
• 0:28
  what it means, but what does it mean for us in our day and age and how do we
• 0:32
  as adults kind of wrap our head around that?
• 0:34
  Are we supposed to put away things, everything that's fun and enjoyable?
• 0:38
  Can we not have fun in life? I don't think that's at all what he's talking about.
• 0:42
  But I think the Bible is timeless and it applies just as much as it did in the
• 0:47
  first century to the 21st century.
• 0:49
  So as you can see, if you know anything about me, I would seem like I'm not
• 0:54
  a person that puts away childish things.
• 0:56
  Sometimes I get on and I do gaming and I do all this type of stuff on the internet
• 1:00
  and I kind of act like a fool in some instances, but I think it's just being who you are,
• 1:08
  but also understanding that we can evolve.
• 1:13
  And I'm going to take that word in a Christian sense, evolve,
• 1:17
  evolution. That's my perspective.
• 1:19
  If we understand that everything is the Lord's, that even the concept of what
• 1:24
  some have created evolution, I'm not talking about Darwinism or anything like that.
• 1:29
  I'm talking about the true evolution of the humanity in general as going to
• 1:33
  the next level, being in Christ.
• 1:36
  In Christ, that is going to, we are going to be made new creations,
• 1:40
  and that is the true evolution, you know, as we'll find out.
• 1:46
  But just, I'm not really going to dive into many news today or much news or anything like that.
• 1:51
  I'm basically just going to, just wanted to kind of get on here and start off
• 1:55
  like just the kickoff of the launch of this new wave that my goal is to go in
• 2:01
  forward. We're going to have some fun.
• 2:03
  And I wanted to start it off with put away childish things because even though
• 2:08
  I do understand that I guess I have come to a point in my life,
• 2:12
  a crisis moment where I need to mature.
• 2:16
  I need to grow up. I need to act like a man.
• 2:20
  And this can apply to anyone. I think when, like the Apostle Paul always says,
• 2:25
  that beautiful phrase, when I was a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child.
• 2:29
  But when I became a man, I put away childish things.
• 2:33
  And I think that I think there's a lot of truth in that, a lot of truth in that.
• 2:37
  And I think it hits people differently and different moments in their life when
• 2:41
  it hits them when they need to do that.
• 2:43
  And that's not to say that we're not ever going to go back.
• 2:46
  And that's not to say that we can't have fun. And that's not to say that we
• 2:49
  can't be silly. We can't do all that kind of stuff. But,
• 2:53
  Understanding that you have actually a purpose. You have a purpose in life.
• 2:58
  You have meaning. Your life has meaning.
• 3:02
  I mean, in a real sense, you are changing the world and our human species,
• 3:09
  where we are going as a humanity. you are having an impact.
• 3:14
  Your daily interactions with other people, just the way you conduct and live
• 3:18
  your life, the way you are, if you have children, the way you're an example
• 3:22
  to them, the way that you are just an example in the setting or wherever you're at.
• 3:25
  So you have, wherever you are, you find yourself in life right now,
• 3:30
  you have purpose and meaning. You definitely have purpose and meaning.
• 3:34
  And I can't drive that home enough. And I think a lot of times we forget that.
• 3:40
  We get caught up in the hustle and bustle of just life and needing to provide,
• 3:47
  needing to make money, needing to be distracted because life is so much about being distracted.
• 3:54
  When do we ever actually have time to get anything done?
• 3:59
  Is our life progressing in the right direction because I think we are a lot
• 4:04
  of times either going in not so good of a way or we're going in a good way.
• 4:10
  And I think we falter, we go back and forth in life, but we can constantly be
• 4:16
  changing our direction and pushing forward.
• 4:20
  We're going to have a setback every now and then. That's just part of life.
• 4:23
  That's just part of what it means to be human.
• 4:27
  You hear this all the time. We're not perfect. Nobody's perfect.
• 4:31
  And I think, I think we all get that. I think we understand that.
• 4:34
  I mean, anyone in whatever worldview you have, I think you understand that you're
• 4:39
  not perfect. You're not dealing with perfect people.
• 4:42
  You, and you got to bring, you got to bring something to the table.
• 4:45
  You know, I think that's the, the part of it. Like we have different things
• 4:49
  in our hearts that we, we want to have significance. We want to have purpose. We want to have meaning.
• 4:53
  We want to know that we are contributing, contributing in some way to an overall good purpose.
• 5:00
  I think that's why so many people can get down, because they're driving their life,
• 5:07
  they're going their life one way, and then they get to the end of it,
• 5:11
  or they get to what they think would achieve and bring them the most happiness,
• 5:14
  but then it doesn't, and then they just feel defeated. They feel like, what's the point?
• 5:19
  And I think that if we continually reframe our mindset, we can have purpose
• 5:27
  and meaning. We can have joy.
• 5:29
  Because I think joy is overall a concept that,
• 5:33
  it doesn't matter your circumstances. It doesn't matter how much money you have in the bank account.
• 5:40
  It doesn't, I mean, because I mean, money's going to come and money's going
• 5:43
  to go, you know, like, but I mean, I think the, a lot of times the world just
• 5:48
  wants us to be so caught up in, we need money.
• 5:51
  Money is the end all be all. Once we have that, it's, it's, and I think it's more about the chase.
• 5:57
  I think it's more about the chase. It's always about the chase,
• 6:00
  the journey, because whatever, in any part of your life that you're in.
• 6:04
  Whether it's sports, whether it's work, whether it's going on a family vacation.
• 6:13
  You think you're going on that family vacation, you get to that spot,
• 6:16
  and it's not as great as you built it up to be as opposed to just enjoying every
• 6:22
  moment of that journey along the way.
• 6:24
  And I mean, even in sports, you're going for that Super Bowl.
• 6:28
  We are in Super Bowl week. it is a Patrick Mahomes time to shine.
• 6:33
  And I think we have no doubt that he's going to do that. But like if Patrick
• 6:38
  Mahomes built his whole life up on once he gets that Super Bowl, he's going to get it.
• 6:43
  And then he's just going to be like, OK, what next?
• 6:46
  OK, the next Super Bowl, the next Super Bowl. I mean, I remember hearing Tom
• 6:50
  Brady say, what's your like your favorite Super Bowl? He's like, oh, he's the next one.
• 6:54
  I don't know if that's the exact quote from him, but I think that was Tom Brady ish.

  So it's that super bowl is

  not going to be enough nothing's ever going to fill that void that
• 7:03
  gap like that we have in our heart and so
• 7:06
  realizing that and understanding that that just i can enjoy the journey i can
• 7:11
  enjoy the journey and have fun in the journey you know and and whatever you're
• 7:16
  doing whatever you're doing i think that that's there's real truth in that there's
• 7:20
  but then it's just the putting away the childish things,
• 7:23
  you know, I mean, and how this all goes together.
• 7:27
  And I don't want to rip a verse out of the Bible and just,
• 7:30
  throw it on the wall and say, this is what it means. I'm going to just completely
• 7:34
  remove it from all context.
• 7:36
  No, I don't think we can do that, you know, but I think there,
• 7:39
  there are different interpretations and all the time, you know,
• 7:42
  like we can take the, the Bible is living, you know,
• 7:45
  and we can take it from its context, but it does have a lot of different meanings
• 7:49
  to different people in some senses, some senses it does.
• 7:53
  And I, I be, I believe because it is living and active, you know,
• 7:57
  so we can't glean as much from it.
• 7:59
  But so, so thank you all for, for jumping in. I'm going to be doing this,

  And so I'm going to basically be doing this God willing going forward.

  This is just a taste of what we're going to have going forward,

  but I just wanted to have it short and sweet and just introduce myself.

  You are making a difference. It's just, and enjoying the journey along the way.
