- 0:00Speaker 1: Who let keV show special guests in here the conglomerate
- 0:04Speaker 1: known as Jason Lee. You know, it's so funny. When
- 0:06Speaker 1: I first moved to LA and I was a consultant,
- 0:08Speaker 1: I was consulting people on ship. My company was called
- 0:11Speaker 1: the Conglomerate Group. Well and check you out, man, you're
- 0:14Speaker 1: building yourself a media empire. Congratulations on the new show.
- 0:19Speaker 1: I think it's dope too, because I saw like kind
- 0:22Speaker 1: of like the Well. First of all, I always preferred
- 0:26Speaker 1: Hollywood Unlocked over Shade Room and Baller Alert because I
- 0:29Speaker 1: always thought, you guys when we would do sh'll just
- 0:33Speaker 1: be controversial out there. Gate No, no no, no, I'm being honest,
- 0:36Speaker 1: damn if I what's up? No, no, no, They're great.
- 0:39Speaker 1: I'm letting you know. If I if you were to
- 0:40Speaker 1: go to my saved posts over the last like six years,
- 0:45Speaker 1: ninety percent of all of my news is Hollywood Unlocked. Bro,
- 0:50Speaker 1: Why why Hollywood on lot? I just feel like you
- 0:52Speaker 1: guys were like like, I feel like you guys are
- 0:55Speaker 1: more like active I guess if that makes sense. I
- 1:00Speaker 1: feel like Baller Alert sometimes, like I might get like
- 1:02Speaker 1: five or six posts a day. Some days we're like
- 1:04Speaker 1: if I'm like really trying to see what the fuck's
- 1:06Speaker 1: like going on, like in real time, like I'll go
- 1:08Speaker 1: to you or you know, even like my mixtapes like
- 1:13Speaker 1: post shit, like I like, but I'm pretty active, they're
- 1:15Speaker 1: like super active. But I do feel like, you know,
- 1:17Speaker 1: you've kind of all for me, been like a great
- 1:20Speaker 1: source of like doing show prep, you know, just as
- 1:22Speaker 1: a radio personality, and now you're fucking killing it. I've
- 1:26Speaker 1: you know, I loved what you were doing with Damage
- 1:29Speaker 1: during the pandemic and to see you kind of turn
- 1:33Speaker 1: into Jason Lee being kind of like as big or
- 1:37Speaker 1: bigger than your company and the Jason Lee show Man.
- 1:40Speaker 1: Just congrats, thank you, thank you. Yeah. I first wanted
- 1:43Speaker 1: to shout out Robin and Angie, two amazing women who
- 1:46Speaker 1: you know, inspire me in different ways. Angie at the
- 1:48Speaker 1: Shave Room was somebody who was Shade Rooms like the
- 1:51Speaker 1: like the the Michael Jordan of this right there. Well,
- 1:54Speaker 1: we're all different, you know, That's the thing. You know,
- 1:56Speaker 1: when I first came in the game, everybody was saying, oh,
- 1:58Speaker 1: don't do Hollywood a lot because the Shade Room and
- 2:00Speaker 1: Baller Alert's been here before. Everybody in Shade Room has
- 2:03Speaker 1: as many followers and there's no room in the space.
- 2:05Speaker 1: And I always believed in myself. I was like, fuck
- 2:07Speaker 1: what y'all talking about. I'm gonna do whatever I want
- 2:09Speaker 1: to do. I mean, I'm a person who survived the hood.
- 2:11Speaker 1: I came out of nothing that I've fucking been shot.
- 2:13Speaker 1: I've seen all types of shit happen, Like, there's no
- 2:15Speaker 1: way you survive all that and think that you can't
- 2:17Speaker 1: be anything you want to be. ANGI if the Shade
- 2:19Speaker 1: Room was the first to really like guide me on
- 2:22Speaker 1: how to build She's super cool too, She's a sweetheart. Yeah,
- 2:24Speaker 1: how to build audience, how to really connect with them,
- 2:27Speaker 1: and how to focus on your content. And then Robin,
- 2:29Speaker 1: when I lost my Instagram, was the person who guided
- 2:32Speaker 1: me through the lawsuit and checked on me every day
- 2:34Speaker 1: and even still today with the new show, text on
- 2:36Speaker 1: me and we have a great relations And they have
- 2:38Speaker 1: a dope ball baller alert Radio is dope. You're both
- 2:41Speaker 1: dope ball alerts in the films. We're all just very different.
- 2:43Speaker 1: I think the one thing that makes us unique where
- 2:45Speaker 1: I think you see me more is Jason Lee is
- 2:47Speaker 1: also a brand in the face of Hollywood, So you
- 2:50Speaker 1: see me a lot more you hear my shows and
- 2:51Speaker 1: my interviews, and so you see me more. I don't
- 2:54Speaker 1: know that's what whoever's posting for y'all is just on
- 2:56Speaker 1: top of it. Brouh, They're on it. They killing it.
- 2:59Speaker 1: Like I'm like, it's crazy because like it used to
- 3:01Speaker 1: be like let me check TMZ or so I'm like, no,
- 3:03Speaker 1: let me see this. Hollywood A lot posted yo. I
- 3:06Speaker 1: know when you posted that the Queen died. Me and
- 3:09Speaker 1: my co host James Jefferson, we were like praying. We
- 3:13Speaker 1: were like, and this is like a bad thing. Okay,
- 3:16Speaker 1: we weren't. We weren't praying that she now y'all want
- 3:18Speaker 1: her to be dead. No, we didn't want her to
- 3:19Speaker 1: be dead. You wanted the story. But I was like
- 3:22Speaker 1: very like, I was like, oh, this is huge, bossile,
- 3:25Speaker 1: this would be huge if Jason Nails's how like when
- 3:28Speaker 1: something like that happens. Obviously didn't end up. She ended
- 3:31Speaker 1: up passing away after but allegedly listen social media, you
- 3:36Speaker 1: know they killed me. Oh I was wrong, and then
- 3:37Speaker 1: you know, you didn't really see her, and then they
- 3:39Speaker 1: came back and said, oh, Jason was right the whole time.
- 3:42Speaker 1: You know, you know, I have to say in the
- 3:44Speaker 1: business that I'm in, you have to trust your sources.
- 3:47Speaker 1: I've learned a lot since that experience, though, Like I
- 3:50Speaker 1: still trust the source because the source. If I ever
- 3:52Speaker 1: said the source, which I won't, I mean, it's somebody
- 3:54Speaker 1: that all of us would just gag if you just
- 3:56Speaker 1: heard the person who told me. But then try to printerry.
- 3:59Speaker 1: I'm kidding, I wish but no, I mean, like, but
- 4:02Speaker 1: then at this on the other hand, it was a
- 4:04Speaker 1: huge gamble, and you know, we rolled the dice and
- 4:06Speaker 1: you know, sometimes you hid and sometimes you don't. And
- 4:09Speaker 1: it was just one of those things where I loved
- 4:10Speaker 1: that I went through that because it just showed everybody
- 4:12Speaker 1: that I was human. We made a mistake, you know,
- 4:15Speaker 1: we came back and owned it and we corrected and
- 4:17Speaker 1: we kept it pushing and we were still getting deals.
- 4:20Speaker 1: We're still growing, you know. So for people who don't know,
- 4:23Speaker 1: are you from Stockton? Stockton? Yea, So the two O
- 4:25Speaker 1: nine is a very serious place. People don't understand it.
- 4:29Speaker 1: Like that's why they were talking about how ruthless the
- 4:32Speaker 1: industry is. No go to stock Dockton's crazy. It's a lot.
- 4:35Speaker 1: My manager, Brian Samson is from Stockton, I mean, unfortunately
- 4:40Speaker 1: for both of us. And one day he convinced me
- 4:44Speaker 1: to not take us a flight home from San Francisco
- 4:46Speaker 1: because I was gonna fly from San Francisco back to
- 4:47Speaker 1: Burbank and he was driving, and he was like, bro,
- 4:50Speaker 1: I don't want to drive alone. Just just drive with me.
- 4:52Speaker 1: You know you'll get You'll get there in the morning.
- 4:54Speaker 1: So I'm like, fine, I'll go with you to Stockton. No, no, no,
- 4:57Speaker 1: we're supposed to drive from the Bay back to La Okay.
- 5:00Speaker 1: So I passed out in the front seat and I
- 5:02Speaker 1: wake up in the middle of the fucking the trenches
- 5:05Speaker 1: of Stockton while he's giving me an unvolunteered like hood
- 5:08Speaker 1: vlog tour at like one in the morning, and it yeah,
- 5:13Speaker 1: it's a rough place, man, Stockton's serious. Tell me a
- 5:15Speaker 1: little bit about just like a childhood growing up man. Yeah,
- 5:17Speaker 1: Brian's a hometown hero too, because even earlier in my
- 5:20Speaker 1: you know, when I was before the industry, I always
- 5:22Speaker 1: heard of he would always he did great making in
- 5:24Speaker 1: La working in the music business, and then he would
- 5:26Speaker 1: always go home and DJ fly and he would give
- 5:28Speaker 1: people hope that they could make it in the business.
- 5:30Speaker 1: But and I don't have a relationship with him. I
- 5:32Speaker 1: just know of them. Of course. Lucky for you. By
- 5:34Speaker 1: the way, Stockton is great. I mean, you know, even
- 5:37Speaker 1: though it's a difficult city, I really feel like it
- 5:40Speaker 1: has its challenges, like most inner city communities around the world,
- 5:43Speaker 1: around the country. I grew up with a white mom
- 5:46Speaker 1: and a black father who was always married to his wife.
- 5:49Speaker 1: She just passed away a couple of weeks ago, And
- 5:52Speaker 1: you know, I didn't have a relationship with him the
- 5:53Speaker 1: way that I have my mom. But you know, I
- 5:57Speaker 1: was a produe to my community. I tried to sell
- 5:59Speaker 1: drugs and good at that got shot, watch my brother
- 6:02Speaker 1: get murdered, had lots of friends that I was talking
- 6:03Speaker 1: to my friend the other day that when I think
- 6:05Speaker 1: about how many people died in the year of just
- 6:07Speaker 1: nineteen ninety seven alone, my brother, tons of friends. I
- 6:10Speaker 1: was almost at a funeral every other week for like
- 6:12Speaker 1: three or four months. And I really look at Stockton
- 6:17Speaker 1: as the place where I first got my interest in
- 6:22Speaker 1: the business. I met Queen Latifa. That light, that idea
- 6:25Speaker 1: that I could be more than my community was there.
- 6:28Speaker 1: But now I'm back building my foundation and working with
- 6:30Speaker 1: my mayor and my city Council to launch an initiative
- 6:32Speaker 1: called the Iron Ready Initiative, where we're going to target
- 6:34Speaker 1: black and brown kids to bring in all the people
- 6:36Speaker 1: I built a relationship with to create programming and you know,
- 6:39Speaker 1: zoom meetings and stuff with these kids to give them hope.
- 6:42Speaker 1: But then embedded in that as a lot of behavioral
- 6:44Speaker 1: change and program and systemic changes that they have to
- 6:47Speaker 1: make in order to be eligible. So I'm excited. I
- 6:49Speaker 1: don't see. I know the narrative about Stockton, and it's true,
- 6:52Speaker 1: it is dangerous, but there's also so much hope there.
- 6:56Speaker 1: And I always look at an opportunity where Okay, yeah
- 6:59Speaker 1: it may be fucked up, but if the right people
- 7:01Speaker 1: care enough, then they'll do what it takes to make
- 7:03Speaker 1: it better. Yeah, it seems like a lot of the
- 7:05Speaker 1: up and coming artists like have died recently. It's rough man,
- 7:08Speaker 1: there's like super dope, thriving hip hops. To me, Stockton
- 7:12Speaker 1: is like the most exciting scene in hip hop in
- 7:15Speaker 1: like in California. It's bubbling. I'm not as tapped in
- 7:18Speaker 1: on the music. It's lit. Yeah, shout out to everybody
- 7:21Speaker 1: doing their thing out there. We had the Haiti Baby,
- 7:24Speaker 1: do you know of course, of course that freestyle on
- 7:26Speaker 1: our show that we no no because of you. I
- 7:28Speaker 1: saw him and then he came on my show, and
- 7:31Speaker 1: I think he came on my show at a time
- 7:33Speaker 1: where he wasn't really ready to be media because he
- 7:34Speaker 1: was just new. But he's super talented. And now that
- 7:38Speaker 1: I've seen him grow and come to LA and I've
- 7:40Speaker 1: I've had lunch with him and met him again. Very articulate,
- 7:44Speaker 1: super solid dude man, very good person. And here's these
- 7:46Speaker 1: very talented and I know a lot of people who
- 7:48Speaker 1: met are watching him. Yeah geez, just he's just signed
- 7:50Speaker 1: a CTE with Cheezy Nice, So congrats to him. So
- 7:53Speaker 1: how do you get from being a kid from Stockton
- 7:55Speaker 1: who's been through so much shit to La. Well, I
- 8:00Speaker 1: had a job, I mean, before entertainment, I worked for
- 8:03Speaker 1: a labor union called SCIU. I was the staff director
- 8:06Speaker 1: for Kaiser Permanente so Kaiser Hospitals all throughout California. I
- 8:09Speaker 1: was one of the three directors who led a team
- 8:13Speaker 1: of organizers who organized all the hospitals and clinics. So
- 8:16Speaker 1: that came by way of me losing my job, but
- 8:19Speaker 1: being very vocal with the city about what I felt
- 8:22Speaker 1: was right or wrong about the firing. They saw me
- 8:24Speaker 1: advocating for myself, they offered me a job. I was
- 8:27Speaker 1: a Kaiser patient at the time. I felt like, Yo,
- 8:29Speaker 1: now I'm going to be a Kaiser patient with the
- 8:32Speaker 1: privilege of advocating for other patients at the level of
- 8:35Speaker 1: organizing the leader. So I did that work for eleven
- 8:37Speaker 1: years and when we merged with at the time it
- 8:40Speaker 1: was Local two fifty, merged with Local three ninety nine,
- 8:42Speaker 1: became SCIUHW. I was the first staff to come down
- 8:46Speaker 1: and help lead the statewide program to really move people
- 8:50Speaker 1: into what the union was going to be about. And
- 8:52Speaker 1: when I got here, I had established so many relationships
- 8:55Speaker 1: from visiting over the years, having met Queen and Tea
- 8:58Speaker 1: for thirty years ago, and just over the years many people.
- 9:00Speaker 1: When I got here and I started going to supper club,
- 9:02Speaker 1: I started going to Le Doux, I started going to Guardnaviden,
- 9:04Speaker 1: and then I started popping up a Jamie Fox. I
- 9:06Speaker 1: just fell in love with the industry again from an
- 9:08Speaker 1: idea that I could abandon my job to follow my dreams,
- 9:11Speaker 1: and overtime it happened, and naturally when it was time,
- 9:14Speaker 1: I just went Hollywood on line full time. When did
- 9:18Speaker 1: you like make the decision to quit the job. Was
- 9:20Speaker 1: it like because you made a certain amount of money?
- 9:22Speaker 1: How they fired me? Oh? They fired you, So you
- 9:24Speaker 1: had really kind of like no choice. They didn't fire
- 9:25Speaker 1: me because I did anything wrong. When we merged with
- 9:28Speaker 1: the unions, there became a lot of inner union fighting
- 9:31Speaker 1: that I was just was beyond my pay grade. So
- 9:34Speaker 1: when they removed our president, I was very loyal to
- 9:37Speaker 1: the leadership, and I'm a loyal person, like when I
- 9:39Speaker 1: ride for you or write with you, I'm ten toes down. Period.
- 9:42Speaker 1: I don't care what nobody says unless you do some
- 9:44Speaker 1: real crazy shit, right. So they removed the president and
- 9:47Speaker 1: they took all the staff. There was probably three hundred
- 9:49Speaker 1: some staff. They took us all into different hotels around
- 9:51Speaker 1: the state, and we were faced with a decision. You
- 9:54Speaker 1: either sign a letter and say that to all the
- 9:59Speaker 1: members you for all these years, that you were lying
- 10:01Speaker 1: to them all the time, or you just quit. So
- 10:04Speaker 1: we were faced with a decision of lying to the
- 10:06Speaker 1: people or quitting, and I just decided to quit, and
- 10:08Speaker 1: I just quit. So from there it was like I'm
- 10:10Speaker 1: all in now and there's no choice. There's no choice.
- 10:12Speaker 1: That's when I saw a conglomerate group and I started putting,
- 10:15Speaker 1: Oh you want Chris Brown, Oh you want this person? Okay,
- 10:17Speaker 1: I started ten percenting my way into survival mode, middleman
- 10:20Speaker 1: and a lot of deals. Absolutely, I still do. It's
- 10:22Speaker 1: a great hustle. I still do it to this day. Yeah.
- 10:25Speaker 1: That's dope. Yeah, I mean that's good to know. So
- 10:27Speaker 1: for you, like when did you do you remember like
- 10:31Speaker 1: a month or like a point in time where you
- 10:34Speaker 1: really realized like there was really like some tread hitting
- 10:37Speaker 1: the ground with Hollywood unlocked, like you could you could
- 10:39Speaker 1: turn this into something that was like I mean, I
- 10:43Speaker 1: can't remember the moment where I go, this is actually
- 10:45Speaker 1: doing something Like I remember when we first started. We
- 10:47Speaker 1: started with one hundred dollars. What year was this, twenty
- 10:50Speaker 1: fifteen October one hundred dollars and Instagram website. And then
- 10:54Speaker 1: while I was building it, I called Mona to get
- 10:56Speaker 1: on love and hip hop. But while I was doing it,
- 10:59Speaker 1: we were so headed down in the work that we
- 11:03Speaker 1: weren't paying attention to the girls. We just we weren't
- 11:05Speaker 1: counting numbers, counting followers, counting comments. We were just so
- 11:08Speaker 1: into the work and perfecting the storytelling and what was
- 11:10Speaker 1: going to differentiate us from our competitors, and how were
- 11:13Speaker 1: we working with those competitors be collaborators, and we just
- 11:15Speaker 1: head down and then I remember we went for like
- 11:17Speaker 1: zero followers to like I remember, I remember the day
- 11:20Speaker 1: we went to we had sixty thousand, because that was
- 11:22Speaker 1: the day where we were all like, Dad, we got
- 11:23Speaker 1: sixty thousand followers, it's a lot. That's a lot. And
- 11:26Speaker 1: then and then I remember one day in one hundred
- 11:28Speaker 1: and it was three hundred, and it was five hundred,
- 11:30Speaker 1: and it was a million. And so I remember all
- 11:32Speaker 1: those moments of where we were hitting those milestones, and
- 11:34Speaker 1: we just kept trying to perfect the consumer experience because
- 11:38Speaker 1: ultimately we at first were just a place where were
- 11:41Speaker 1: talking about what was what was going on. But then
- 11:43Speaker 1: people started picking us up and we were going all
- 11:46Speaker 1: across the world in different news trades, and then we
- 11:48Speaker 1: started seeing politicians reach out, so we're like, oh damn.
- 11:51Speaker 1: Then I remember an article came out that we swayed
- 11:53Speaker 1: an election, So I'm like, okay, we have real influence.
- 11:55Speaker 1: Which election was it? This was back home in Stockton.
- 11:58Speaker 1: I literally just said my opinion on something, and then
- 12:00Speaker 1: it got picked up by LA Times and then different
- 12:02Speaker 1: people ran in and then the vote literally it swayed,
- 12:05Speaker 1: and the person came out and said that it disgruntled work,
- 12:08Speaker 1: a disgruntled former resident. You use his platform for him
- 12:12Speaker 1: to lose, And it wasn't true. It was just that
- 12:14Speaker 1: you weren't a good mayor and you need to go.
- 12:17Speaker 1: So once it started seeing our influence, then I was like, yeah,
- 12:20Speaker 1: we were really honing in on making sure that we
- 12:22Speaker 1: were hitting all demographics, so pop culture, all things culture, politics.
- 12:28Speaker 1: How do we hit all these three things from a
- 12:31Speaker 1: world perspective, like what do people want to hear that
- 12:33Speaker 1: the whole world can talk about? What can they talk
- 12:35Speaker 1: about in Nigeria that they'll talk about in London, that
- 12:37Speaker 1: they'll talk about in la that they're going to talk
- 12:39Speaker 1: about in Arkansas. How do we create that content? And
- 12:42Speaker 1: then it became a very strategic thing where then we
- 12:44Speaker 1: started looking at the needle like okay, this got twelve
- 12:47Speaker 1: million views of this got okay, now this show got
- 12:49Speaker 1: x amount of That's how we really looked at the
- 12:51Speaker 1: growth and now we're just growing. Yeah, you're also like
- 12:56Speaker 1: what I appreciate about you is that you're very like
- 13:00Speaker 1: you'll hop on the feed of the and like, hey,
- 13:04Speaker 1: if you're serious about your business, period, hit us up.
- 13:07Speaker 1: Because so many people think that success comes by luck. Yeah,
- 13:12Speaker 1: maybe if you hit the winning ticket in the lottery. Right.
- 13:14Speaker 1: This shit is a fucking grind. And I tell everybody
- 13:16Speaker 1: online that keeps posting these fucking tiktoks and he's boring
- 13:19Speaker 1: ass pieces of content. You're lazy and nobody likes lazy content.
- 13:23Speaker 1: Everybody can tell what's lazy. Some people may get that quick,
- 13:26Speaker 1: you know, overnight success, the boom gangs, the one hit
- 13:28Speaker 1: Wonders or whatever. And that's fine if that's what you want,
- 13:30Speaker 1: But if you want sustainable success, you have to invest
- 13:33Speaker 1: in your brand. I paid for advertising. I advertise Hollywood Aloe,
- 13:37Speaker 1: and I marketed the fuck out of my shit. Can
- 13:39Speaker 1: if you have an up becoming business or like a product,
- 13:42Speaker 1: why wouldn't you advertise your shit, especially on a platform
- 13:46Speaker 1: that creates small business programs for people who are new.
- 13:49Speaker 1: You know, we have the fashion novas of the world
- 13:51Speaker 1: or the McDonald's and Pepsis, but then there's you know,
- 13:53Speaker 1: somebody may start a haircare company or a t shirt
- 13:55Speaker 1: line or something. You know, we make sure we carve
- 13:57Speaker 1: out space for those people to be able to, you know,
- 13:59Speaker 1: advertise a brand that's dope man for you, When did
- 14:02Speaker 1: you kind of like want to expand because you know,
- 14:06Speaker 1: Instagram's one business model. Being a blog is a business model,
- 14:11Speaker 1: but you've kind of expanded the brand into so many
- 14:13Speaker 1: different like branches of like, uh, just expanding the portfolio.
- 14:19Speaker 1: You know. Obviously now we have the Jason Lee Show,
- 14:20Speaker 1: which which congrats on the first episode with Cardi B.
- 14:24Speaker 1: But when did you kind of realize, like, yo, there's
- 14:26Speaker 1: just way there's just so much more here than just
- 14:30Speaker 1: being a blog or being the gossip site. When my
- 14:33Speaker 1: Instagram went down, because that was like where most of
- 14:35Speaker 1: our revenue was coming from. And when that shit was
- 14:37Speaker 1: that twenty nineteen it was twenty shit, I don't even know,
- 14:41Speaker 1: it was probably twenty seventeen, twenty eight. It maybe maybe
- 14:43Speaker 1: been twenty It's a blur now it's been. It was
- 14:45Speaker 1: too it was I remember when that happened because I
- 14:46Speaker 1: and then I would try to there was like a
- 14:48Speaker 1: different page you guys had right there. We had we
- 14:50Speaker 1: had a fucking what do you call those? A backup page? Yeah,
- 14:53Speaker 1: the backup page going Yeah, and then that became complicated
- 14:56Speaker 1: because then Instagram was like, if you lost Hollywood Unlock,
- 14:58Speaker 1: you can't have a backup to that because you lost it,
- 15:00Speaker 1: because you lost it for a reason, company violid, you
- 15:02Speaker 1: know whatever. It was crazy. I think once I lost that,
- 15:06Speaker 1: it scared me because I think the thing that for
- 15:08Speaker 1: me that I never followed my dreams early on was
- 15:11Speaker 1: the fear of not being able to pay my bills.
- 15:13Speaker 1: That's everybody's dream, that's that's everybody's fear, which is why
- 15:16Speaker 1: a lot of people are afraid to start their own
- 15:18Speaker 1: brands and they're afraid to quit their full time job.
- 15:20Speaker 1: The union was paying me five thousand every week, every
- 15:23Speaker 1: other week, So every other week I was I was
- 15:25Speaker 1: hood rich on Thursday. On Friday, I was hood rich.
- 15:28Speaker 1: On Thursday, I was broke. But every other Friday I
- 15:31Speaker 1: was I have money. So to leave that, I was
- 15:34Speaker 1: forced to leave it, but then hustling to then leave
- 15:36Speaker 1: all that, to really focus everything into put all my
- 15:38Speaker 1: eggs in one basket was scary. And so when I
- 15:40Speaker 1: lost the Instagram, my whole focus was, Okay, fuck that.
- 15:45Speaker 1: When I come back, we're going to diversify this brand.
- 15:47Speaker 1: We're going to have at least ten to fifteen streams
- 15:49Speaker 1: of revenue, and if ten to fifteen streams of revenue
- 15:52Speaker 1: are bringing in five thousand needs, you can kind of
- 15:54Speaker 1: do the math. If we do that on a monthly basis. Now,
- 15:56Speaker 1: of course we're you know, making close to seven fifth
- 16:00Speaker 1: yours every month. But so now it's a more sustainable
- 16:03Speaker 1: model because now that the brand has become validated and
- 16:06Speaker 1: it has created its own lane, now it's just about
- 16:08Speaker 1: how to we plug and play into other areas. Yeah. Yeah,
- 16:10Speaker 1: I think like the one thing that most people you
- 16:16Speaker 1: were saying earlier, the fear of paying your bills. It's
- 16:19Speaker 1: like it kind of like paralyzes people's progress. Like so
- 16:24Speaker 1: many people I know, like in my personal life, have
- 16:26Speaker 1: so much potential, and I always am like, like, yo,
- 16:28Speaker 1: you should do this. Like I got a homie he
- 16:30Speaker 1: was like in the best shape every works out every day,
- 16:32Speaker 1: and I've been trying to convince him to be like
- 16:34Speaker 1: a personal trainer and start a gym for like it
- 16:35Speaker 1: feels like my entire adulthood. And now he just has
- 16:38Speaker 1: a normal job and he's miserable, and I'm like, dude,
- 16:41Speaker 1: you got to roll the dice. Sometimes you have to
- 16:44Speaker 1: feel like your dreams are worth fighting through the fear.
- 16:48Speaker 1: You know, my whole model. When I wrote my book,
- 16:49Speaker 1: God must have forgotten about me. I wrote about fear
- 16:52Speaker 1: over faith, a faith over fear. You know, when I
- 16:54Speaker 1: used to get on a plane early on, I'd be like,
- 16:56Speaker 1: oh my God, this plan is going to crash, this
- 16:57Speaker 1: plan is going to be all the turbulent is We're
- 16:59Speaker 1: gonna die. But then on one hand, I'm over here
- 17:01Speaker 1: listening to gospel music telling people that you have to
- 17:03Speaker 1: have faith in God, you have to have faith in this.
- 17:04Speaker 1: So I had to really go back into what I believe.
- 17:06Speaker 1: What is my faith? What is the foundation of the
- 17:08Speaker 1: Jason Lee person, and what is the what is the
- 17:12Speaker 1: foundational belief that the Jason Lee experiencedick Zoot faith over fear.
- 17:15Speaker 1: So my faith is I had to find the faith
- 17:18Speaker 1: that I believed in myself enough to get through the
- 17:20Speaker 1: fear and most people. When I talked to him, like
- 17:22Speaker 1: I was talking about therapists today in therapy, I was
- 17:25Speaker 1: saying to him I'm going to do I said, I'm
- 17:27Speaker 1: gonna do this new show that I'm selling to this network,
- 17:30Speaker 1: and I want to bring you in to do this therapeuticccession.
- 17:34Speaker 1: But I was telling my creative idea for it, And
- 17:35Speaker 1: I said, well, why don't you do a show where
- 17:37Speaker 1: you sit down and work with people who've been canceled
- 17:40Speaker 1: and work through why they've been canceled in a way
- 17:42Speaker 1: that makes them, you know, uncancellable. That sounds like a
- 17:45Speaker 1: million dollar idea. We're talking about it. He was like, yeah,
- 17:47Speaker 1: I would do that because he works with other celebrity
- 17:50Speaker 1: and public figures. And I'm like, yo, I started telling
- 17:51Speaker 1: my ideas and he was like, yo, you're You're just
- 17:54Speaker 1: You're able to come up with ideas that is unlike
- 17:56Speaker 1: anybody else. I said, that's not true. I'm able to
- 17:59Speaker 1: focus because that is something that I believe in, and
- 18:02Speaker 1: anybody that believes in something, they can just push past
- 18:04Speaker 1: the fear, Like I feel like anything responsible. Yeah. I
- 18:06Speaker 1: saw you do like a breakdown of like all the
- 18:09Speaker 1: new shit that's rolling out. And it's not just the
- 18:11Speaker 1: Jason Lee Show. No, it's like you're doing a live
- 18:14Speaker 1: streams Jason Lee experience. You're doing like Monday through Friday.
- 18:19Speaker 1: There's like gonna be something, right. So there's the Jason
- 18:22Speaker 1: Lee Show on Revolt and you're the first person on
- 18:26Speaker 1: this whole run for people to ask me this question
- 18:28Speaker 1: because I think people are and I love that people
- 18:30Speaker 1: are focused on the show, but what people were when
- 18:32Speaker 1: you made that announcement, I was like, oh shit, yeah,
- 18:35Speaker 1: that's that's a lot. So the Jason Lee Show on
- 18:38Speaker 1: Revolt we filmed. We filmed five episodes last last week
- 18:42Speaker 1: before I went on the Press Store. But that's gonna
- 18:44Speaker 1: air once a week on Revolt ten pm Eastern on
- 18:47Speaker 1: Revolt TV Cable. Then the audio for that rolls out
- 18:50Speaker 1: the day before, and so what was holding up the
- 18:53Speaker 1: deal was trying to figure out where's this audio going
- 18:54Speaker 1: to live because I was also in the negotiations for
- 18:56Speaker 1: a podcast deal. So the audio now rolled out on
- 19:00Speaker 1: the Jason Lee Podcast on Mondays. It airzon Revolt Cable
- 19:04Speaker 1: on Tuesdays and then Revote YouTube on Wednesdays. And the
- 19:06Speaker 1: experience is different because you get a forty four minute
- 19:09Speaker 1: cut down on Revolt, but then you get like CARDIV.
- 19:11Speaker 1: We gave a forty four minute cut down on Revolt TV,
- 19:14Speaker 1: but then we did an hour and twenty seven minutes
- 19:16Speaker 1: on Revote YouTube. So it's all the stuff that you
- 19:18Speaker 1: don't see on the TV show you see on the YouTube.
- 19:21Speaker 1: And then I felt like Okay, what is it that
- 19:24Speaker 1: I don't want to be the talk show host, so
- 19:26Speaker 1: the host that just talks to the audience, I want
- 19:28Speaker 1: to hear from them what the fuck they think about
- 19:30Speaker 1: what we're talking about. So we created Jason Lee after Dark,
- 19:33Speaker 1: where that Wednesday, when the YouTube hits and everybody's heard
- 19:37Speaker 1: it on audio, watched on cable, watch it on YouTube.
- 19:39Speaker 1: They can then come into a live experience like a
- 19:41Speaker 1: watch what Happens lifestyle environment at night and we can
- 19:44Speaker 1: be drinking and talking and fans can come in and
- 19:46Speaker 1: ask questions, video or call in talk their shit. And
- 19:50Speaker 1: then the Jason Lee podcast will air on Fridays then
- 19:53Speaker 1: and so the Jason Lee after Dark will be on
- 19:56Speaker 1: Hollywood onlock dot com. We have a paid a membership
- 20:01Speaker 1: places there. Right. Hey, we got to stop the interview
- 20:03Speaker 1: to tell you about our folks at my bookie. That's right, baby,
- 20:06Speaker 1: super Bowl's coming. Well, you know in a month or so,
- 20:09Speaker 1: we got the playoffs. Right now, you could get those
- 20:12Speaker 1: future bets in on who you think out of this
- 20:15Speaker 1: barrage of teams that made it to the playoffs is
- 20:17Speaker 1: gonna win the super Bowl? You could bet player props.
- 20:20Speaker 1: We can go NBA action on them. So much ways
- 20:22Speaker 1: to make money with all the sports going on, and
- 20:24Speaker 1: you could do it all at my Bookie. Right now.
- 20:26Speaker 1: If you go to my Bookie and you sign up
- 20:28Speaker 1: for a new account, used the promo code boot leg,
- 20:31Speaker 1: and they will match your first deposit up to one
- 20:33Speaker 1: thousand dollars. You know what's dope about my Bookie. Not
- 20:36Speaker 1: only can you bet on your favorite sports, what's your good?
- 20:39Speaker 1: Also good little blackjack going, little slot machines and that
- 20:42Speaker 1: dang me email roulette. Yeah me, so much ways to
- 20:46Speaker 1: get paid on my Bookie. The most important thing is, though,
- 20:49Speaker 1: if you sign up and you use the promo code
- 20:51Speaker 1: boot leg at my Bookie. Go to my Bookie, my Bookie,
- 20:54Speaker 1: my Bookie, my Bookie, use the promo code boot leg,
- 20:56Speaker 1: and they're gonna match your first deposit up to one
- 20:59Speaker 1: thousand dollar right fucking now. Listen, I'm a degenerate, but
- 21:05Speaker 1: I'm pretty good at this. I've been using my Bookie
- 21:08Speaker 1: for like ten years. All right, very trusted. They're the best.
- 21:13Speaker 1: Trust me, they are the fucking best. Wherever you're at
- 21:15Speaker 1: you're watching this, you can sign up from my Bookie
- 21:17Speaker 1: account one more time. That's my book You used a
- 21:18Speaker 1: promo code Bootleg and they will double your first deposit
- 21:21Speaker 1: up two thousand dollars, free fucking money. Let's get to
- 21:24Speaker 1: it all right, boys, back to the interview. Help me
- 21:26Speaker 1: understand because I see a lot of big podcasts are
- 21:29Speaker 1: going the direction of doing deals with Revolt and having
- 21:32Speaker 1: their content live on revolts YouTube channel. I'm sure that
- 21:36Speaker 1: the monetary compensation is the main motivation for that. For you, though,
- 21:44Speaker 1: you feel like a really strategic guy, why not have
- 21:49Speaker 1: the Jason Lee Show live on your own channel that
- 21:51Speaker 1: you own and you control. I mean, I know it's money,
- 21:55Speaker 1: but just from like a person on this side of
- 21:57Speaker 1: the camera, like, I'm just curious, you know, because I
- 21:58Speaker 1: see a lot of people. Yeah, okay, that's a great question.
- 22:02Speaker 1: One shout out to Datavio. Samuel's the CEO of Revolt. Brilliant,
- 22:07Speaker 1: brilliant black man who believes in culture, who believes in
- 22:10Speaker 1: black creators, who believes in creators a culture period. And
- 22:13Speaker 1: I've been really big on ownership of your content, being
- 22:17Speaker 1: able to create strategic partnerships to elevate your brand, finding
- 22:21Speaker 1: people who believe in you as much as you believe
- 22:22Speaker 1: in yourself. And to Tavio, did that. You know, I
- 22:25Speaker 1: talked about faith over fear and being able to have
- 22:29Speaker 1: like you know, there was a fear to like run
- 22:31Speaker 1: up on Ditty for a deal or to hit Diddy
- 22:33Speaker 1: for a deal, and then I've got over that and
- 22:36Speaker 1: I got his number and I called him directly, and
- 22:37Speaker 1: he put me with Datavio and Dion at this honesty,
- 22:39Speaker 1: and we've been able to really craft a relationship with
- 22:41Speaker 1: Dion on the Dailyon's side and with them on a Revolt.
- 22:45Speaker 1: What I love about them and why I chose them
- 22:48Speaker 1: over all the other networks we're talking about is because
- 22:49Speaker 1: when we got into the weeds of the deal, ownership
- 22:52Speaker 1: was important to me. So I I share the ownership
- 22:56Speaker 1: of the content I created with them, but I owned
- 22:57Speaker 1: the show name and I own a share in the
- 23:00Speaker 1: profit of the show equally, so we're partners. I don't
- 23:04Speaker 1: work for them, they don't work for me. But our
- 23:06Speaker 1: teams have integrated and aligned in a way where I
- 23:08Speaker 1: went with a five person publicist team and there's six
- 23:12Speaker 1: publicists team and now there's eleven publicists working on the show.
- 23:15Speaker 1: That only amplifies adjacent Lee brand, that only amplifies the isabelity,
- 23:19Speaker 1: and I love the fact that they pay. They also
- 23:22Speaker 1: do paid media as much as we do earn media.
- 23:24Speaker 1: So the way we just work this whole rollout with CARTI,
- 23:27Speaker 1: over four billion media impressions, over seven million social media
- 23:32Speaker 1: impressions trended number two on I saw you posts like
- 23:36Speaker 1: the email screenshot of like the stats. It was crazy
- 23:39Speaker 1: And that's the first episode we plan to keep going.
- 23:41Speaker 1: So yeah, I think the fact that they believe in
- 23:43Speaker 1: the ownership and the content was great. I don't know
- 23:46Speaker 1: why everybody else did. The money is good. I won't
- 23:49Speaker 1: say it's not, but you know what, I've been offered
- 23:51Speaker 1: deals where people come to me and said, what if
- 23:53Speaker 1: we offer you fifteen million dollars to come over here,
- 23:55Speaker 1: but we own all your content outright? You own? Are
- 23:58Speaker 1: you fucking done? Fuck that? Nah, because I can get
- 24:01Speaker 1: because because you're obviously financially well off compared to like
- 24:04Speaker 1: a lot of people, like I'm not in your business,
- 24:06Speaker 1: but you're not doing too bad. But you could easily
- 24:11Speaker 1: I mean you did it with Hollywood the Hollywood Unlock Show, right,
- 24:14Speaker 1: but you could easily have pulled off this entire thing
- 24:17Speaker 1: without revolts help I could have but for you. But
- 24:20Speaker 1: I do think that This is also a lesson that
- 24:22Speaker 1: like some people get so hung up and being like, nah,
- 24:25Speaker 1: I got this, I'm over here on my own. That it's,
- 24:27Speaker 1: like you said, strategic partnerships that can benefit what you're doing.
- 24:32Speaker 1: I think some people, especially in like hip hop culture,
- 24:35Speaker 1: are so like hung up on being independent now and
- 24:37Speaker 1: not necessarily like sometimes it's very beneficial to partner because
- 24:42Speaker 1: the bag is bigger in the long run. Yeah, but
- 24:44Speaker 1: you got to pay attention, like pay attention to all
- 24:46Speaker 1: the grades that out there, because I'm paying attention. Right.
- 24:49Speaker 1: We just got our evaluation, fifty million dollars valuation. Congratulations,
- 24:52Speaker 1: that's all you guys just lock down some funding for
- 24:53Speaker 1: like one point eight million dollars. Well it's a little
- 24:55Speaker 1: bit more than one point seven, but because of the
- 24:57Speaker 1: way it's structured, we can only announce to one point
- 24:59Speaker 1: seven now. But there's more to come. But you know,
- 25:01Speaker 1: we have some really good strategic partners. A lot of
- 25:03Speaker 1: people offer me money, oh this and that, whatever. I
- 25:06Speaker 1: still own ninety percent of the company. I still have
- 25:08Speaker 1: control of the company, and I still I make the
- 25:10Speaker 1: ten percent investors. Correct, there's a group of people that
- 25:13Speaker 1: are strategics. So you know, again these are people who
- 25:17Speaker 1: you know have access to billions of dollars, have access
- 25:19Speaker 1: to huge infrastructure. I just met with somebody yesterday who
- 25:22Speaker 1: was like, don't close that round until I can get
- 25:23Speaker 1: in there. And this person, I mean, you're going to
- 25:25Speaker 1: open the whole world up in terms of brands. So
- 25:28Speaker 1: when I look at how I built it, you know,
- 25:30Speaker 1: jay Z said, you know somebody who you know? People
- 25:33Speaker 1: are afraid to sell equity in their business. I mean,
- 25:36Speaker 1: if do you want to get to that billion dollar status,
- 25:38Speaker 1: it's not about what you give away, It's about how
- 25:40Speaker 1: you how you sell it off or how do you
- 25:42Speaker 1: allow people to get in strategically. So, if I have
- 25:45Speaker 1: fifty percent of a company that's worth a billion dollars,
- 25:48Speaker 1: I walk away five hundred million, or would you rather
- 25:50Speaker 1: have one hundred percent of the company is worth a
- 25:51Speaker 1: million dollars? Right right? So that really you just have
- 25:53Speaker 1: to decide what you want to do. And that for
- 25:55Speaker 1: me was always like I look at the jay Z's
- 25:57Speaker 1: I look at like the puff It is the best
- 26:00Speaker 1: marketer in the business if you followed his career from
- 26:02Speaker 1: uptown and I followed it. And so to be able
- 26:04Speaker 1: to be on a network that's black owned that he's
- 26:06Speaker 1: actually greenlit and that Datavio is leading. I mean also
- 26:10Speaker 1: even like even did he look to him like did
- 26:13Speaker 1: he bad Boy had partners in the you know whoever,
- 26:16Speaker 1: they're major distributory. I mean, it's so rack there's a
- 26:19Speaker 1: liquor partner there. Did he's the face of it, but
- 26:21Speaker 1: it's like he's an extremely smart man. I'd be very
- 26:24Speaker 1: clear everybody's I don't have a relationship with him like that.
- 26:26Speaker 1: I mean, I got his number, he's on text, but
- 26:29Speaker 1: we're not on the phone every day like I am
- 26:30Speaker 1: with other people. I don't have that relationship with him,
- 26:33Speaker 1: and I don't know where the relationship will go, and
- 26:35Speaker 1: I don't know what the future holds. But for right now,
- 26:37Speaker 1: I really just really love what we're doing over there,
- 26:39Speaker 1: and you know, we have we have ideas for where
- 26:42Speaker 1: we want to take the show. Of course, this is
- 26:44Speaker 1: like we're dating now. We're trying to see episode one
- 26:48Speaker 1: is a success. That's for sure. Episode one was colossal,
- 26:51Speaker 1: but you know that comes with a lot of pressure.
- 26:52Speaker 1: What this episode two going to do it? You know,
- 26:53Speaker 1: or episode three? But I don't have any I'm not
- 26:56Speaker 1: worried about it because I know that I'm more locked
- 26:58Speaker 1: into this and I've been in anything done for you.
- 27:01Speaker 1: You have some strong alliances with artists that you are,
- 27:05Speaker 1: your actual friends, Cardi being one of them. Obviously, there's
- 27:08Speaker 1: probably not anybody else who could get the interview that
- 27:10Speaker 1: you just got. How careful are you about covering people
- 27:15Speaker 1: who are your friends. I'm not careful. I will say
- 27:18Speaker 1: that my team is I have to shout out the
- 27:20Speaker 1: Hollywood on long team, especially the social people, and they're
- 27:22Speaker 1: gonna love that you highlight them because nobody ever gives
- 27:24Speaker 1: them credit. They are when shit goes down, and if say,
- 27:29Speaker 1: if it's involving somebody they know I'm close with, they'll say,
- 27:31Speaker 1: heads up, this is out. We're gonna run it. Here's
- 27:34Speaker 1: our idea. They'll tell me it because like here's the
- 27:36Speaker 1: angle we're gonna run it. Yeah, they're gonna run what
- 27:38Speaker 1: it is, but they'll tell us like, this is what
- 27:40Speaker 1: we're gonna say, this is what we're gonna do. They
- 27:42Speaker 1: give me an opportunity to call the person say, hey,
- 27:44Speaker 1: this is about to run. Do you want to tell
- 27:46Speaker 1: me what's what's going on? Give me some input some
- 27:48Speaker 1: most people will give it to me, others will not.
- 27:50Speaker 1: And then we'll run it. But if I hear from
- 27:52Speaker 1: them something that makes me go, we ain't running that,
- 27:55Speaker 1: you know, like this this is bullshit. And I've done
- 27:56Speaker 1: that many times. Why I've killed stuff that my team
- 27:58Speaker 1: wants to run because based on all the information I have,
- 28:01Speaker 1: it doesn't make sense. Uh. But yeah, I mean, I
- 28:04Speaker 1: don't you know. I was telling that Cardi said on
- 28:07Speaker 1: the show. How I told her I didn't like hot shit.
- 28:09Speaker 1: You know, we were in a heated argument about something
- 28:13Speaker 1: completely unrelated because we don't really talk about music or
- 28:17Speaker 1: the news. We just talked about live shit like that's
- 28:19Speaker 1: I fucking love this girl, right, So we're talking, but
- 28:21Speaker 1: we're in a heated argument. She's cussing me out, I'm
- 28:24Speaker 1: cussing her out, and uh, I said, oh, and I
- 28:28Speaker 1: think hot shit is whack, you know. And she was
- 28:30Speaker 1: quiet and I really felt like I heard her feelings.
- 28:33Speaker 1: But she's a thug, so she you know, she came
- 28:35Speaker 1: back at me whatever, But she appreciates me enough to
- 28:38Speaker 1: give me the space to be honest with her and
- 28:39Speaker 1: I to her and she criticizes me, So I don't know.
- 28:42Speaker 1: I don't have that relationship with everybody though, but one
- 28:44Speaker 1: person I will say that most people don't know I
- 28:47Speaker 1: know or have access to that I don't. I won't.
- 28:49Speaker 1: I won't lie and say that we're friends. But we
- 28:50Speaker 1: are very friendly on text and on the phone. We
- 28:53Speaker 1: need to be is the weekend, and he always comes
- 28:58Speaker 1: at the He only reaches out when he's giving me
- 29:00Speaker 1: my flowers, which is which is weird because we write
- 29:03Speaker 1: about when his voice fell out at the show and
- 29:05Speaker 1: he just walked off, or when this or that or
- 29:08Speaker 1: the good things, you know, when he's become hits all
- 29:10Speaker 1: these different goals whatever. But we're not like super chatty
- 29:12Speaker 1: on the phone. But it's something weird about this guy
- 29:14Speaker 1: where he always tunes in to give me my flowers
- 29:17Speaker 1: when I'm making moves, And you know, it's people like
- 29:20Speaker 1: that that like, sometimes I just don't call because I
- 29:22Speaker 1: feel like they're they're going to feel some type way
- 29:24Speaker 1: about me or the work that I do, so I'm like,
- 29:25Speaker 1: I just kind of stay away. But to the people
- 29:28Speaker 1: that I do have real personal, deep relationships with, I'm
- 29:31Speaker 1: never going to compromise what I do. And those people
- 29:34Speaker 1: that are my friends know what I do and they
- 29:35Speaker 1: appreciate what I do, so they can at least understand
- 29:38Speaker 1: like you have a job to do. They'll call me
- 29:40Speaker 1: and be like, that was fucked up. I'm like, okay, well,
- 29:42Speaker 1: what you want to give me the you know which
- 29:44Speaker 1: you want to give me, Like, what are we doing?
- 29:45Speaker 1: You know? How many have you? Like, has there been
- 29:48Speaker 1: a certain amount of times you've taken stuff down because
- 29:50Speaker 1: someone asked you, like, hey, look, if only I can
- 29:54Speaker 1: only say that I took the one thing that comes
- 29:57Speaker 1: to mind and I and I won't say it because
- 30:00Speaker 1: it was a very very tricky, tricky thing. I did
- 30:03Speaker 1: take one thing down once that I knew. I put
- 30:07Speaker 1: it up on purpose to get the attention, and once
- 30:10Speaker 1: the attention was got, I was able to say, okay,
- 30:14Speaker 1: I'll take that down. But I only did that one time.
- 30:16Speaker 1: And I'm growing learning how to not use the platform
- 30:21Speaker 1: like that to intentionally get people's attention, because for a while,
- 30:24Speaker 1: when the doors went open for me, I was like,
- 30:26Speaker 1: you have to shake the cage a little. I have
- 30:28Speaker 1: a relationship with every artist in the world. Every artist
- 30:30Speaker 1: in the world I do through Hollywood on lock. Some
- 30:32Speaker 1: just don't participate. If you participate, there's one experience. If
- 30:36Speaker 1: you don't, then you leave us to assume or gather
- 30:39Speaker 1: the facts that we get and then once it hits
- 30:40Speaker 1: the internet, it is what it is. Yea. So people
- 30:43Speaker 1: are learning like I'm not really trying to be the
- 30:45Speaker 1: bad guy, but make no mistake about it. I don't
- 30:48Speaker 1: give a fuck. And I'm from Stockton, California, where I'm
- 30:51Speaker 1: where I was born and raised. You know what's gonna happen.
- 30:54Speaker 1: Y'all gonna kill me because I said some Okay, well,
- 30:56Speaker 1: if that's the way I'm going out, I'll be legendary.
- 30:59Speaker 1: I'm not worried about I was gonna say, like, I
- 31:01Speaker 1: feel like you made a transition. Everybody has growth, but
- 31:06Speaker 1: from being like the Jason Lee who wasn't as big
- 31:10Speaker 1: as Hollywood and locked and now your brand is kind
- 31:13Speaker 1: of parallel to your company. Do you feel like there
- 31:18Speaker 1: was like because you've had some public spats with artists,
- 31:20Speaker 1: like you said early on you would shake the k
- 31:23Speaker 1: jump I mean the nikky thing alone is, you know,
- 31:26Speaker 1: But do you feel like there was like an incident
- 31:29Speaker 1: or a moment in which you kind of decided to
- 31:32Speaker 1: move a little differently in terms of like stirring up
- 31:35Speaker 1: unnecessary shit. See the thing, I really don't feel like
- 31:40Speaker 1: I ever started unnecessary shit I feel like everything I've
- 31:44Speaker 1: started or started up was necessary. I'm not gonna let
- 31:47Speaker 1: you bully me. I don't care who you are. And
- 31:49Speaker 1: I've had moments with everybody. I mean with everybody you
- 31:52Speaker 1: can think of. I mean I've had moments with people
- 31:54Speaker 1: that people haven't even seen. I don't think I've ever
- 31:58Speaker 1: done anything unnecessarily have I just now choose more strategically
- 32:04Speaker 1: how I respond. You know, sometimes I'll deal stuff with
- 32:08Speaker 1: behind the scenes or whatever. I'm trying to really live
- 32:12Speaker 1: in my purpose. Now. I'm forty five years old. I'm
- 32:16Speaker 1: still very hungry, but I'm also very blessed and have
- 32:19Speaker 1: a lot of opportunities in front of me. And so
- 32:21Speaker 1: I think back about a conversation Queen Lyativa when I
- 32:23Speaker 1: had where she said, really focus on building your audience
- 32:29Speaker 1: and then take them on a journey with you, but
- 32:30Speaker 1: don't never abandon them. So the people who love the tea,
- 32:33Speaker 1: That's what the Jason Lee podcast is gonna be about.
- 32:35Speaker 1: Big opinions, very unapologetic. Every Friday. You're gonna kind of
- 32:39Speaker 1: like wrap up the week. Oh my god, very unfiltered. Yes,
- 32:42Speaker 1: but you know, let's the whole dick plussy fuck this
- 32:44Speaker 1: that I mean just you know, but very very blunted,
- 32:49Speaker 1: and then very unapologetic. And then I think the Jason
- 32:52Speaker 1: Lee Show. I want to interview Michelle Obama. I want
- 32:54Speaker 1: to talk to Barack Obama. These are people that are
- 32:56Speaker 1: important to me. I don't want to scare people to
- 32:58Speaker 1: the extent that they don't want to talk to me.
- 33:00Speaker 1: But I also want to be able to keep it
- 33:01Speaker 1: real and ask the questions if people want to know,
- 33:03Speaker 1: Like I have to ask Carti about the song that
- 33:04Speaker 1: Quevo did that involved Sleety, I have to ask her
- 33:08Speaker 1: about the lawsuit with Tasha k or nobody else can
- 33:10Speaker 1: ask these questions. By the way, well they can't. They
- 33:12Speaker 1: can get the interview. I don't know. I don't know, no, no, no, listen,
- 33:16Speaker 1: what's gonna happen. Carti's gonna go to whatever she does
- 33:19Speaker 1: her run. There's gonna be a long list from Dwight
- 33:21Speaker 1: from Atlantic, and it's gonna be like, you can't talk
- 33:23Speaker 1: about this. She can't talk about this, she can't talk
- 33:24Speaker 1: about you're not getting that list. I got the list.
- 33:27Speaker 1: She throw it away, she threw it away. Wow, I
- 33:30Speaker 1: got the list, long fucking list. It's a lot. Carti said, nah,
- 33:36Speaker 1: we're doing it anything. I mean, you're you're good, You're good,
- 33:41Speaker 1: You're good. Let me say this, people don't understand the
- 33:45Speaker 1: fucking hard shit that people that do this go through.
- 33:48Speaker 1: What I've said at Hollywood unlock. I'm not letting the
- 33:51Speaker 1: publicist tell me what I can and can't ask. I'm
- 33:53Speaker 1: not laying to manager. If you want my audience, if
- 33:55Speaker 1: you want my consumer base, if you want to talk
- 33:58Speaker 1: to me, if you want me to make your shit
- 34:00Speaker 1: look good for my world, you can say you don't
- 34:02Speaker 1: need it. You're not going to tell me because they
- 34:04Speaker 1: would never do it to Oprah. Never. You would never
- 34:07Speaker 1: tell Oprah you can't talk about this. Oprah gonna sit
- 34:09Speaker 1: down and say, Meghan and Ellen or any of these
- 34:12Speaker 1: fucking Meghan, how you thought your black ass was gonna
- 34:14Speaker 1: go over there with the white folks in London put
- 34:16Speaker 1: a crown on, and they weren't gonna look at you
- 34:18Speaker 1: as a black girl. A girl. Bye. You're never gonna
- 34:21Speaker 1: be able to tell Opra what you can and can't ask.
- 34:23Speaker 1: And so when I look at the culture now and
- 34:26Speaker 1: how how talk is just very much like let's talk
- 34:28Speaker 1: about your album. I don't want to just talk about
- 34:30Speaker 1: your fucking album. I want to talk CARTI wasn't on
- 34:33Speaker 1: a radio run. CARTI didn't have anything to promote, right,
- 34:35Speaker 1: She just pulled up and when this list came, I'm
- 34:40Speaker 1: not gonna say what I said, but I didn't. CARTI
- 34:43Speaker 1: called me as soon as I got the list because
- 34:45Speaker 1: I was in a chat because she knew what I
- 34:47Speaker 1: was going to say, and she just it was funny.
- 34:49Speaker 1: We had a moment. But then she pulled up and
- 34:51Speaker 1: she said, ask whatever you want, because she knew that
- 34:53Speaker 1: she could trust I was going to be. You're not
- 34:55Speaker 1: gonna try to set her up with some gotcha shit.
- 34:56Speaker 1: I don't do that, and the great platforms don't do that. Yeah, yeah,
- 35:01Speaker 1: I don't do that. But I do feel like a
- 35:02Speaker 1: lot of the platforms that do do it is because
- 35:04Speaker 1: they got to get something, because you ain't. You fucking
- 35:06Speaker 1: tell them. They can't talk about Jesus, they can't talk
- 35:08Speaker 1: about oxygen, they can't talk about water, they can't talk
- 35:11Speaker 1: about this table, they can't even talk how about how
- 35:14Speaker 1: about you just don't ask me any questions. So you
- 35:15Speaker 1: just want me to talk about your album. That's it.
- 35:17Speaker 1: I'm never that person, and I hate radio runs when
- 35:20Speaker 1: publicists will say, and this is just for example, because
- 35:23Speaker 1: I love this person. Gucci man has an album. Okay,
- 35:27Speaker 1: look if I'm number five on that, I ain't gonna
- 35:29Speaker 1: what the fuck to ask him because I'm not. You know,
- 35:31Speaker 1: that's where you're gonna. That's where you know he's gonna
- 35:33Speaker 1: walk into an interview and I'm playing GEEZI yeah, to
- 35:37Speaker 1: create a conversation or move. But I don't want that
- 35:39Speaker 1: no more. I want to be able to authentically interview
- 35:41Speaker 1: a Gucci and Akisha and be like, Yo, you guys
- 35:44Speaker 1: are the epitome of black love and hip hop. Where
- 35:45Speaker 1: we watch you guy? She's told me a story about
- 35:48Speaker 1: how was that interview coming soon? I hope? So, Gucci,
- 35:52Speaker 1: I want you and Keisha loves me and I love her.
- 35:53Speaker 1: But you know her story of how she like held
- 35:55Speaker 1: him down while he was in prison and started his
- 35:57Speaker 1: fitness thing with him and how they got fit together.
- 35:58Speaker 1: Great yeah yeah uh for you like that list though,
- 36:02Speaker 1: see y'all don't know yeah yeah. Those of you watching
- 36:05Speaker 1: who want to get in this world, just know, grind
- 36:07Speaker 1: your fucking ass off and be unapologetic, because that was
- 36:09Speaker 1: the one thing that really pushed me to not give
- 36:12Speaker 1: a fuck because I would call different people that I
- 36:15Speaker 1: knew I helped out when I was the plug, Like
- 36:17Speaker 1: I knew you when you couldn't get in the club.
- 36:19Speaker 1: I knew you when you wanted to go over there
- 36:20Speaker 1: and fuck on old boy, and I put you with him.
- 36:22Speaker 1: And now all of a sudden, you're this and that,
- 36:23Speaker 1: So now I don't get no love. That's when I
- 36:25Speaker 1: started saying, like, I see the games y'all gonna play,
- 36:26Speaker 1: But how about this? How about I just because I'm
- 36:29Speaker 1: too in the business to know what's going on to
- 36:32Speaker 1: just sit silent and be a co conspirate in your bullshit.
- 36:35Speaker 1: So why do I just put it out there and
- 36:36Speaker 1: force you? Because if I say something and Vanity Fair
- 36:42Speaker 1: picks it up, you may not like Urban press or
- 36:45Speaker 1: black media and shit on us and think we're not important.
- 36:47Speaker 1: But now you got to answer the Vanity Fair Vanyfair
- 36:49Speaker 1: is going to ask you the question based on what
- 36:52Speaker 1: I said, and they're going to cite me anyway. So
- 36:53Speaker 1: I still got the credit. So I figured out the
- 36:55Speaker 1: way of like, really, mind fucking the business, where like
- 36:57Speaker 1: you don't have to participate in the relationship, I can
- 37:00Speaker 1: still get your attention. Yeah, I think that one of
- 37:03Speaker 1: the like when I when I first watched that Kanye
- 37:05Speaker 1: interview did it was almost two years ago now maybe
- 37:07Speaker 1: a year and a half a year. That was like
- 37:09Speaker 1: where I was like, Oh, this guy's this guy's got
- 37:11Speaker 1: it like this this because you got a great Ya
- 37:13Speaker 1: interview with Luck and shout out to what Whack helped
- 37:17Speaker 1: make that back one. That's Whack one hundred. He's the
- 37:20Speaker 1: secret sauce behind that relationship. Yeah, I love Whack's a
- 37:22Speaker 1: great guy man. He doesn't get the credit he deserved.
- 37:24Speaker 1: I always I've been friends with Whack for over ten years,
- 37:28Speaker 1: and I always say he's one of the smartest dudes
- 37:30Speaker 1: in the game. I know sometimes Whack It's on Clubhouse
- 37:34Speaker 1: and Whack is going to whack. Whack is very He's brilliant. Ye,
- 37:37Speaker 1: he's brilliant. Yeah, people don't give him the credit. And
- 37:40Speaker 1: then the other thing I love and he told this
- 37:41Speaker 1: story recently that and I want to say that, like
- 37:44Speaker 1: when when I opened my studio, Hollywood Blocked Studios, the
- 37:46Speaker 1: idea first was very focused on a space for creators
- 37:49Speaker 1: to create peer space type situation. Yeah like that, and
- 37:52Speaker 1: then uh, the day at open I was sitting in
- 37:55Speaker 1: my kitchen with Blue, who was my former co host
- 37:58Speaker 1: on the podcast. I was like in Damage, like, how
- 38:00Speaker 1: are we gonna I think Damage? I know Blues there
- 38:02Speaker 1: because I was like, how are we going to market?
- 38:03Speaker 1: How am I going to market it? I don't know
- 38:05Speaker 1: how to really do it, Like I don't have never
- 38:07Speaker 1: built the space, now how do we market it? Phone
- 38:09Speaker 1: rings is whack? Literally, yo, yo yo, nephew, is yo
- 38:13Speaker 1: your studio open? I'm like yeah. He's like, yeah, I
- 38:16Speaker 1: got somebody that want to rent it. It's okay, put it.
- 38:18Speaker 1: Let me talk to him. So he puts Kanye on
- 38:20Speaker 1: the phone. Wow. Hello, He's like, Yo, this is yay.
- 38:23Speaker 1: You know, nice to meet you. You You know, I got
- 38:25Speaker 1: and I'm like sitting there. Put them on speakerphone and
- 38:26Speaker 1: we're like gagging, like what the fuck you know? And
- 38:28Speaker 1: he's like, I want to use my cousin pocket. When
- 38:31Speaker 1: can you come to dinner? Where can you pull up
- 38:32Speaker 1: on someone? You want me an hour? I said, okay,
- 38:34Speaker 1: I went to Craigs whack. This is the thing that,
- 38:37Speaker 1: again doesn't really happen because people who plug people in
- 38:39Speaker 1: want to be the gatekeeper of that relationship and eat
- 38:42Speaker 1: off of that too. Forever Whack came in. He sat
- 38:46Speaker 1: me down next to Kanye and he sat all the
- 38:48Speaker 1: way across the room completely, let me and Yay sit
- 38:51Speaker 1: there and buy for about four hours and really talk
- 38:53Speaker 1: and listen to music, and he let me hear all
- 38:55Speaker 1: the you know, different stuff he had coming out for
- 38:56Speaker 1: down to two and then we started vibing and I
- 38:58Speaker 1: started just telling him who I was. When I was
- 38:59Speaker 1: about out, we clicked. And then the next day he
- 39:04Speaker 1: called and said, what you doing now? So I got
- 39:05Speaker 1: Floyd Maywell and Evan Ross at my studio were chilling
- 39:07Speaker 1: and look at the space. He was like, you want
- 39:10Speaker 1: to have a dinner tonight. I got Madonna, asked Floyd
- 39:12Speaker 1: if he wanted to come, and then we had this
- 39:13Speaker 1: epic ass dinner and then he got in a fight
- 39:15Speaker 1: with the I think I saw the pictures from that night.
- 39:18Speaker 1: It was like you and Madonna was there, was Antonio
- 39:21Speaker 1: Brown there there? Yeah? Yeah, And then he got in
- 39:25Speaker 1: a fight with the paparazzi that night. Called me the
- 39:27Speaker 1: next day and said, well, Wax said, like, you know
- 39:29Speaker 1: you can help me with this, that you have a
- 39:31Speaker 1: platform that I apologize. I wasn't aware. Yeah, talking about
- 39:33Speaker 1: Hollywood and like he said, okay, let me know if
- 39:35Speaker 1: I can come by. I said, okay, who'll come by?
- 39:37Speaker 1: You know, we'll talk about it whenever. So I sent
- 39:38Speaker 1: her the address and I went into a meeting. And
- 39:40Speaker 1: I'm in a meeting with this woman and our artist
- 39:42Speaker 1: and we're sitting there chilling, and then the ding dong
- 39:44Speaker 1: at the door. Hell, Johnny, my video director went open
- 39:47Speaker 1: the door and was Kanye. It was crazy. He was like,
- 39:50Speaker 1: let's do it now the interview now, well prep no, yeah,
- 39:53Speaker 1: we did it. Hey, what up's bout? Leg cav here
- 39:56Speaker 1: to stop the interview and tell you about bluech you, yes,
- 40:00Speaker 1: do you have a dick? Does your husband have a dick? Maybe?
- 40:03Speaker 1: Does your boyfriend got a dick? Does your wife have
- 40:05Speaker 1: a dick? Who knows? It could be harder. I'll tell
- 40:09Speaker 1: you that. Yeah. Blue Choo will get your dick real
- 40:12Speaker 1: hard to kick off that new year. You know what
- 40:14Speaker 1: I'm saying. If you want your dick harder than advanced
- 40:18Speaker 1: trigonometry senior year high school, then go to blue choo
- 40:22Speaker 1: dot com right now, use the promo code Bootleg and
- 40:26Speaker 1: get one month's supply for free. That's right free. All
- 40:31Speaker 1: you got to do is pay five dollars in shipping.
- 40:34Speaker 1: They're going to deliver the Blue Choe right to your
- 40:37Speaker 1: fucking door in discrete packaging, all right, same active ingredient
- 40:41Speaker 1: as viagrancialis in a chewable form, very discrete packaging mail
- 40:47Speaker 1: to your house. You don't have to go to a
- 40:49Speaker 1: doctor's appointment in person with anybody. You don't have to
- 40:52Speaker 1: worry about embarrassing conversations with strangers about your fucking dick. Bro,
- 40:58Speaker 1: nobody wants to talk about their dick with a stranger.
- 41:01Speaker 1: I take that back. I take that back. Lots of
- 41:05Speaker 1: people like to talk about their dicks with strangers. If
- 41:09Speaker 1: you're not that kind of guy or girl or them,
- 41:13Speaker 1: all you gotta do is go to Blue Cheo right
- 41:16Speaker 1: now and use the promo code Bootleg, and you're gonna
- 41:20Speaker 1: get it sent straight to your door. That's right. They
- 41:22Speaker 1: also got the new mint chewable that's the same active
- 41:25Speaker 1: ingredients as Levitra. So there's a lot of options to
- 41:29Speaker 1: get your dick right in the new year. It's twenty
- 41:30Speaker 1: twenty three. Yeah, your dick shouldn't be flaccid after a nice, long,
- 41:36Speaker 1: stressful night. No, your dick should be ready. You don't
- 41:39Speaker 1: want to be a you know, a victim of too
- 41:41Speaker 1: much stress, too much anxiety, and then you look down
- 41:45Speaker 1: and you can't stay hard. You imagine how fucking embarrassing
- 41:48Speaker 1: that is. You get yourself a nice, lovely, fucking young lady,
- 41:51Speaker 1: you bring it to the place you're nervous, she's a
- 41:53Speaker 1: little maybe she's a little out of your fucking league,
- 41:56Speaker 1: and you start thinking too much and that dick's not
- 41:59Speaker 1: gonna perform. It's not it's not gonna perform how you'd
- 42:02Speaker 1: like it to. But you know how it will perform.
- 42:05Speaker 1: If you're on that fucking blue choo, you're gonna put
- 42:08Speaker 1: in a fucking luka donkic sixty one point fucking performance
- 42:12Speaker 1: on that pussy. All right, So go to blue choo
- 42:14Speaker 1: dot com right now, use that promo code Bootleg. Let's
- 42:17Speaker 1: get back to the interview. It's crazy too because like then,
- 42:20Speaker 1: obviously you're kind of put in charge of his what
- 42:22Speaker 1: what was your title? I was head of media right
- 42:26Speaker 1: for a very short stint seven months. Great, I left
- 42:30Speaker 1: amazing thing to throw on the resume. Uh yeah, I
- 42:34Speaker 1: didn't think it would be a I mean I want
- 42:36Speaker 1: to kind of cause you're you could probably be like
- 42:39Speaker 1: the best PR guy in the game. If you wanted
- 42:41Speaker 1: to be a situation like yay, if you're his PR person,
- 42:46Speaker 1: how do you do how do you bring him back?
- 42:49Speaker 1: How do you uncancel the situation? Let's say he's level headed,
- 42:53Speaker 1: he got through whatever, this weird like Hitler White Lives
- 42:56Speaker 1: Matter shit was going like, what do you what's the
- 42:58Speaker 1: advice you give if he calls you to more? Since I, well,
- 43:01Speaker 1: I called him to give him the advice. I'm gonna
- 43:03Speaker 1: tell you what I was gonna give him right now.
- 43:04Speaker 1: And I haven't told nobody this and I didn't give
- 43:06Speaker 1: it to him because of his response to me what
- 43:08Speaker 1: I call it. I'm a very genuine, authentic person. I
- 43:12Speaker 1: don't play games. I'm not gonna like sell nobody on nothing.
- 43:15Speaker 1: Even if he wasn't in his right mind, if he
- 43:16Speaker 1: at least wanted to stop the bleeding to be able
- 43:19Speaker 1: to focus on finding his right mind to then get
- 43:21Speaker 1: back to the center, what I would have done. And
- 43:25Speaker 1: let's be clear that interview I did with him actually
- 43:28Speaker 1: brought him closer back to the center because the culture
- 43:30Speaker 1: forgave him. We followed up with a media brunch with
- 43:32Speaker 1: all the top black storytellers, all Walks of media. I
- 43:36Speaker 1: mean we did to do Facebook. I mean we did.
- 43:38Speaker 1: I mean he was centered. He chose to be uncentered. Again,
- 43:41Speaker 1: what I called him to tell him that, I didn't
- 43:43Speaker 1: get to tell him directly because he wanted me to
- 43:45Speaker 1: put it in a text. I don't text, because he
- 43:47Speaker 1: would have plbay screenshoted it and then posted it and
- 43:49Speaker 1: been like which is why I chose not to text
- 43:52Speaker 1: what he could have done. Because let's be very clear
- 43:54Speaker 1: what Yay was saying. The topic that he was talking
- 43:57Speaker 1: about was a real topic. The power construct of the industry,
- 44:01Speaker 1: the power, the lack of resources, the manipulation. There's a
- 44:06Speaker 1: lot of gems in that Drink Champs interview that get
- 44:08Speaker 1: overlooked because of the other shitt he said. The delivery
- 44:11Speaker 1: was just completely fucking wrong for sure. You know, Jewish
- 44:13Speaker 1: people and black people, Mexicans, all different groups have had
- 44:19Speaker 1: very challenging experiences in their communities, the Holocaust, slavery. Why
- 44:24Speaker 1: do we need a politic pain, Like everybody's been through
- 44:26Speaker 1: their shit, right and I've been have relationships with Jewish
- 44:29Speaker 1: people who've brought me in and I felt a sense
- 44:31Speaker 1: of community where they were all equally interested in my
- 44:34Speaker 1: success and pulling together resources, unlike how sometimes my community does.
- 44:38Speaker 1: So what he was saying in terms of you know,
- 44:41Speaker 1: different power constructs and you know opportunities and who owns
- 44:45Speaker 1: what is true how they did that, I would say,
- 44:48Speaker 1: we have as a Black community, have to own some
- 44:50Speaker 1: of that because we choose to politic positions. Or I'm
- 44:55Speaker 1: over here running this so I'm not gonna let these
- 44:57Speaker 1: niggas in. I'm gonna let these niggas in, or I'm
- 44:59Speaker 1: gonna grandfather homies in, but not put this nigga on.
- 45:01Speaker 1: Who's on? Like, there's so many people who could have
- 45:03Speaker 1: done more for me when they saw me coming because
- 45:05Speaker 1: they saw the potential, but they didn't fuck with Maybe
- 45:08Speaker 1: I'm gay, I'm this, I'm loud and whatever. Funck them on.
- 45:10Speaker 1: Now I got more money than them. So when I
- 45:12Speaker 1: look at with Yay, I said what he was doing.
- 45:16Speaker 1: I agreed with the topic that he was addressing, but
- 45:19Speaker 1: I didn't agree with the delivery. What I told him,
- 45:21Speaker 1: what I would have told him FM Dubike could have
- 45:23Speaker 1: did was during the time when he was burning out
- 45:25Speaker 1: with All Lives Matter, Candae Sowans all that and doing
- 45:28Speaker 1: every random fucking interview. First thing, I would have said,
- 45:32Speaker 1: is you need to move very strategic. I would have
- 45:36Speaker 1: backed up from it all. I would have hired a
- 45:38Speaker 1: production company. I would have turned this whole experience into
- 45:41Speaker 1: a documentary. I would have pulled in Kyrie Irving. I
- 45:43Speaker 1: would have examined America and race relations in the world
- 45:48Speaker 1: based on his activity. I would have made it look
- 45:51Speaker 1: like I did it on purpose. On purpose, I would
- 45:56Speaker 1: have here's this piece of art. I would have flipped
- 45:58Speaker 1: it all up very artistically on its head. I would
- 46:01Speaker 1: have interviewed people from the Jewish corper I would have
- 46:02Speaker 1: pulled everybody in. Candice Owens, the founder of Black Lives Matter.
- 46:06Speaker 1: I would have put everybody into this very inclusive work
- 46:11Speaker 1: of art. Who could have made us all take a
- 46:12Speaker 1: step back to examine how he was destroyed when he
- 46:16Speaker 1: said what he said. When we have people who are
- 46:19Speaker 1: white climbing up the Capitol trying to kill the vice
- 46:21Speaker 1: president and overturn an election, who are still not in prison,
- 46:25Speaker 1: you know, there's a real conversation to be had, and
- 46:28Speaker 1: they still have their bank accounts, And they still have
- 46:30Speaker 1: their bank accounts. You know, since when does a bank say,
- 46:33Speaker 1: come get your money out because the news is saying it. Well,
- 46:36Speaker 1: Wells Fargo probably told them that because they stole Wendy
- 46:39Speaker 1: Williams money. I don't know if it's Wells Fargo Chase,
- 46:41Speaker 1: but they I think it was Chase. They've all done
- 46:43Speaker 1: funck shit. You know, Wells Fargo taking all of Wendy
- 46:45Speaker 1: Williams money because they thought she was incompetent. There was
- 46:48Speaker 1: no court document or nothing that said that. You know,
- 46:51Speaker 1: when do you say pull out all of your money.
- 46:55Speaker 1: You do that because you want to be in the news,
- 46:56Speaker 1: because you want people to go and look at your
- 46:58Speaker 1: products and services. They used him, and he allowed himself
- 47:00Speaker 1: to be used. What I'm really big on is controlling
- 47:03Speaker 1: your narrative. How do you create a conversation that may
- 47:08Speaker 1: make the whole world blow up, but when you shake
- 47:10Speaker 1: it out, it shapes into this work of art that
- 47:14Speaker 1: actually makes people go back and start having critical thinking.
- 47:17Speaker 1: He wasn't able to really do that because I think
- 47:19Speaker 1: he was too emotionally involved in it, you know, and
- 47:22Speaker 1: he had some really good people around him that could
- 47:24Speaker 1: have helped him. And then unfortunately he wanted me to
- 47:26Speaker 1: text him that, but I said, I'm not going to
- 47:29Speaker 1: text you, no problem, because I told him I said,
- 47:32Speaker 1: I don't want you to pay me for this idea.
- 47:34Speaker 1: I don't want to be involved with this idea. I
- 47:36Speaker 1: don't want any credit for this idea. I don't want
- 47:38Speaker 1: any public association with this idea. That's what I was
- 47:40Speaker 1: going to tell him. I just want you to be
- 47:43Speaker 1: able to stop the noise of what you've created now
- 47:46Speaker 1: with this whole conversation around a topic that is a
- 47:49Speaker 1: real topic we could have elevated through our relationship, but
- 47:52Speaker 1: that you chose to go nuclear on because you had
- 47:54Speaker 1: a point to prove. And now you're being sued by everybody,
- 47:57Speaker 1: and you're going to lose everything, and you're going to
- 47:59Speaker 1: feel like you or right because ultimately, if he runs
- 48:02Speaker 1: for president now and Trump runs for president and he loses,
- 48:05Speaker 1: he can say the only reason Trump won is because
- 48:08Speaker 1: white lives matter. He can say that. But by this point,
- 48:10Speaker 1: you've turned the whole world off from listening to that. Yeah,
- 48:14Speaker 1: I feel like he kind of like he kind of
- 48:17Speaker 1: like unintentionally wore himself out to the alt right content
- 48:22Speaker 1: space to where like and I don't think it was
- 48:25Speaker 1: his intent, you know what I mean? But I think
- 48:27Speaker 1: that like when you go on like certain podcasts and
- 48:28Speaker 1: you talk to certain people, it's like you're kind of
- 48:32Speaker 1: just like giving them all the ammunition that they need
- 48:35Speaker 1: to kind of continue to push hate on their side
- 48:38Speaker 1: while you're kind of oblivious to that because you think
- 48:41Speaker 1: that you're like, it's just very he's my favorite artist ever.
- 48:43Speaker 1: So it's like I said, he's he definitely is gaslighting
- 48:48Speaker 1: the culture and he's serving up white supremacy, you know,
- 48:52Speaker 1: And it's unfortunate because I will say this, as much
- 48:55Speaker 1: as I've been critical, I'm also very much a fan.
- 48:57Speaker 1: I think he's one of the most brilliant artists in
- 48:58Speaker 1: the world. He's definitely a culture disrupt their culture shift,
- 49:01Speaker 1: their culture leader, icon all that. He's all of that,
- 49:04Speaker 1: but all of that, you can still be flawed. I
- 49:06Speaker 1: think the one flaw that Yay has, and I say
- 49:08Speaker 1: this with love, is that he just he the Putin
- 49:14Speaker 1: and the Hitler references is more about kind of being
- 49:18Speaker 1: that uncheckable dictator that controls the world as he wants
- 49:23Speaker 1: to see it and not be questioned. But that's just
- 49:26Speaker 1: not the reality where we live in, you know. I
- 49:28Speaker 1: think you got to like read the room, and I
- 49:30Speaker 1: think the Hitler shit that he was saying was like
- 49:32Speaker 1: coming from a place of like, Jesus loves everybody. Jesus
- 49:36Speaker 1: forgives everybody. I love Hitler, I love Jews, but I
- 49:39Speaker 1: just felt like, yeah, sometimes you got to read the room. Man.
- 49:42Speaker 1: You know, Jesus may forgive everybody, but that I mean
- 49:45Speaker 1: you ain't going to and I mean you ain't going
- 49:46Speaker 1: to go to hell and burn to death. You know
- 49:48Speaker 1: what I'm saying. Yeah, it was just unfortunate to see.
- 49:50Speaker 1: Like you said, it's like we've never seen. This is
- 49:53Speaker 1: a one of one situation. Probably the most culturally important
- 49:56Speaker 1: person that hip hop has probably ever had. He's moved
- 50:00Speaker 1: fashion musically, he's that guy, and it just kind of
- 50:03Speaker 1: like four months and it's just evaporated. It's kind of crazy.
- 50:07Speaker 1: Crazy thing is I think he could come back. I
- 50:09Speaker 1: think he could too, you know, I think he can
- 50:10Speaker 1: come back, but like he has. You know, I will
- 50:14Speaker 1: say it was an honor to be able to be there.
- 50:16Speaker 1: My whole goal was not to be like known for
- 50:20Speaker 1: being his head to meet and all that. That's great
- 50:21Speaker 1: that people know that he put me in a room
- 50:23Speaker 1: with the president of Gap, with the presidents of Adidas,
- 50:27Speaker 1: with the leaders of these organizations who at the time
- 50:31Speaker 1: were spending no money in marketing, no money in our
- 50:33Speaker 1: communities to seed programs, And so as head of media,
- 50:38Speaker 1: I found my way into conversations with people to say,
- 50:41Speaker 1: if he makes you three billion dollars, can you not
- 50:44Speaker 1: put five percent towards programs in our community? And they
- 50:46Speaker 1: were on board with this. They were like they were
- 50:49Speaker 1: hungry for ideas. He just needed a green light. He
- 50:51Speaker 1: never did. So the frustrating part was the idea of
- 50:54Speaker 1: what we wanted to do was we had a billion
- 50:56Speaker 1: dollar commitment outside of the US to raise to get
- 51:00Speaker 1: this money to buy all these media conglomerates, to be
- 51:03Speaker 1: able to put them under one house that I would
- 51:05Speaker 1: sit on and help to really shape narrative for the culture,
- 51:09Speaker 1: and on top of that, be able to get these
- 51:11Speaker 1: fortune five hundred brands to be able to spend hundreds
- 51:14Speaker 1: of millions of dollars pouring back into our community. That's
- 51:16Speaker 1: the privilege that I thought I had there, And then
- 51:18Speaker 1: it became a circus. And when I realized, like I'm
- 51:21Speaker 1: a very strategic person. Once I saw like this is
- 51:23Speaker 1: not what it is. I don't want to spend the
- 51:26Speaker 1: time I have on earth like playing around, like I
- 51:28Speaker 1: want to leave an imprinted legacy. Do you think he
- 51:30Speaker 1: had a lot of yes people around him? And you're
- 51:32Speaker 1: obviously not a yes man, so like being in that
- 51:34Speaker 1: short amount of time, would you say that his inner
- 51:36Speaker 1: circle was pretty just kind of like, No, I won't
- 51:39Speaker 1: say that. I'll say that he had a lot of
- 51:40Speaker 1: really good people who did the work that needed to
- 51:45Speaker 1: be done, and when it was time to say no,
- 51:48Speaker 1: would say no, but it was typically through me, which
- 51:51Speaker 1: made me the bad guy, right And when they said no,
- 51:55Speaker 1: they said it in ways that would get him to
- 51:58Speaker 1: understand there's a need to pause, and then I would
- 52:00Speaker 1: come in with the no why. And I think strategically
- 52:03Speaker 1: we all worked well together, like everybody had their lane.
- 52:05Speaker 1: I wasn't management, I was, you know, but I became
- 52:08Speaker 1: a how do we put out this fire? What's your
- 52:10Speaker 1: advice on how we do this? And he never wanted
- 52:12Speaker 1: to do it, so, you know, it wasn't that I
- 52:15Speaker 1: didn't have all the answers or that he didn't need
- 52:17Speaker 1: all the answers. I just think that he wanted to
- 52:19Speaker 1: do things his way and now he can look at
- 52:22Speaker 1: his world and see that that probably didn't work out
- 52:25Speaker 1: in his favor. But I won't say it's because everybody
- 52:28Speaker 1: around him was bad. He had really good people. I mean,
- 52:31Speaker 1: he had the best divorce attorney, the only one I
- 52:36Speaker 1: think they could have beat Kim Kardasher at least leveled
- 52:38Speaker 1: it out for him. He had the best other attorneys,
- 52:41Speaker 1: the gap person. I mean, everybody around him was They
- 52:44Speaker 1: were good people. But you know, he chose what he chose,
- 52:47Speaker 1: and here we are. Yeah, you executive produced the show.
- 52:53Speaker 1: Is it Bobby Light? Is that the name? Bobby? I
- 52:55Speaker 1: love you Perry. Yeah, it's crazy because now like I
- 52:59Speaker 1: feel like on off, I go to like a Hollywood
- 53:01Speaker 1: and lock. You guys post a lot of clips from uh,
- 53:04Speaker 1: they buy a lot of advertising. What's the name of
- 53:06Speaker 1: the network networks? Oh my god, Zeus Network is lit.
- 53:09Speaker 1: They're killing it, Jesus killing it. They lemeo shot to Limeo.
- 53:12Speaker 1: They buy advertising, they do great and they pay on time.
- 53:15Speaker 1: So that's so let me ask you that. Because you
- 53:17Speaker 1: guys will post like every show that they have, there's
- 53:20Speaker 1: like a clip that goes on holiday pay for it.
- 53:22Speaker 1: So that is paid advertising. Yeah, we're paid media. We're
- 53:25Speaker 1: not earned media. Well that's dople because I want people
- 53:27Speaker 1: to realize, like Zeus Network is killing it, and they're
- 53:29Speaker 1: they're paying for Adverati, they're investing in their brand. Lemeo
- 53:32Speaker 1: does a great he has agreed. He does a great
- 53:34Speaker 1: job of cultivating relationship. He nurtures the relationship with his talent.
- 53:37Speaker 1: He makes them feel valuable. He gives the back end
- 53:39Speaker 1: on top of what he pays, so like he paid
- 53:41Speaker 1: me to executive produce it. He paid me, so there's
- 53:44Speaker 1: front end pay, there's back in pay. He paid me
- 53:46Speaker 1: the host, he pays for advertising. I mean, he really
- 53:48Speaker 1: invest in his brand, and I'm sure he's reading the
- 53:50Speaker 1: benefits confis I imagine two million, one million, two million,
- 53:53Speaker 1: you know, subscribers at five ninety nine, they're killing them.
- 53:56Speaker 1: It's crazy when you see something like a Blue Face
- 53:59Speaker 1: and Krishan Rock situation that like obviously is very probably
- 54:04Speaker 1: good for numbers for Hollywood unlocks because every other day
- 54:06Speaker 1: there's some going up, but it's obviously very toxic, a
- 54:09Speaker 1: toxic and it could end up being a tragic situation.
- 54:12Speaker 1: I just feel like it's like spiraling into a place
- 54:15Speaker 1: that like, like I saw the No Jumper thing that
- 54:17Speaker 1: happened yesterday and I was just like fuck man, Like
- 54:20Speaker 1: it's there's been domestic violence. There's been a lot of
- 54:23Speaker 1: wild shit. Do you ever feel like we contribute to that? Yeah,
- 54:29Speaker 1: I know where you're going with that. Let me say
- 54:31Speaker 1: that they are my next guests on my show Okay,
- 54:34Speaker 1: Episode two, Episode two, very different but very similar, but
- 54:38Speaker 1: also very different. They didn't kick shit, break shit, and
- 54:40Speaker 1: it was none of that because when I went into
- 54:43Speaker 1: that interview, I wanted to try to humanize the madness
- 54:46Speaker 1: because I see what we post and there are times
- 54:48Speaker 1: where I will call leme and say, Okay, I think
- 54:50Speaker 1: it's going a little too far, like I'm not doing
- 54:52Speaker 1: this ad or we do this because but at the
- 54:55Speaker 1: same time, there's also a part of the culture that
- 54:58Speaker 1: wants that, Like there is an a that follows us
- 55:01Speaker 1: that likes that, and that kind of shit has been
- 55:02Speaker 1: missing from the entertainment space for a while. Well. Love
- 55:05Speaker 1: and hip hop had to soften itself up once the
- 55:07Speaker 1: George Floyd ss have happened because Black Lives Matter was
- 55:09Speaker 1: and also like Jerry Springer's gone. So I feel like
- 55:12Speaker 1: that's kind of like low key like and here's my excuse,
- 55:15Speaker 1: and this is what I and people are gonna say.
- 55:16Speaker 1: That's no excuse. It is an excuse. This is a
- 55:20Speaker 1: black owned network. And if we're going to profit off
- 55:22Speaker 1: our pain or profit off our struggle or our community issues,
- 55:26Speaker 1: I'm more comfortable doing it with people than Viacom. Than
- 55:29Speaker 1: Viacom because b ET is owned by a white woman
- 55:32Speaker 1: Jewish women, and people don't know that. And I'm not
- 55:35Speaker 1: gonna politic my answers around that, but I just feel
- 55:37Speaker 1: like it's different. Like Lemeo took this talent Bobby Joslyn
- 55:43Speaker 1: Nale none who are on mainstream networks, who were not
- 55:46Speaker 1: getting paid what they were doing, who are not getting,
- 55:48Speaker 1: you know, the money that they should have gotten on
- 55:50Speaker 1: the back end. Joslyn helped build Love and hip Hop,
- 55:53Speaker 1: I mean Love and hip Hop. Well when they got
- 55:56Speaker 1: Atlanta's when it really blew out. Oh for sure, No, no, no, no,
- 55:59Speaker 1: no for sure, right for sure. And I know and
- 56:01Speaker 1: it's no Shade de Moona who gave us all an opportunity,
- 56:04Speaker 1: but like Viacom, did not pay us what we were
- 56:07Speaker 1: When I did Love in Hip Hop season one, I
- 56:08Speaker 1: got a thousand per episode, Wow, the thousand perposes. So
- 56:13Speaker 1: the episode I threw a drink on hanzel Y, I
- 56:15Speaker 1: got paid a thousand dollars for that. Killed me in
- 56:18Speaker 1: many ways because it forced me into a space that
- 56:21Speaker 1: I did something I regretted and I could not fix
- 56:24Speaker 1: it because they weren't even willing to help me fix it.
- 56:26Speaker 1: There's a publicist over there. I think her name is.
- 56:28Speaker 1: I think it's Shelly. I can't think. I can't think
- 56:30Speaker 1: her name, but Kelly. Her name is Kelly. This woman
- 56:35Speaker 1: who didn't look like me did nothing to help me
- 56:38Speaker 1: fix your image or my image or no personal She
- 56:41Speaker 1: did nothing to help and then tried to. She tried
- 56:45Speaker 1: to black bombing from going to the VMA, She tried
- 56:48Speaker 1: to all types of shit because she wanted to flex
- 56:50Speaker 1: her power, when really this was a show where a
- 56:52Speaker 1: bunch of black people were coming treated like bottom feeders
- 56:56Speaker 1: and given scraps to go and beat each other up
- 56:59Speaker 1: for the for the fame. I never wanted love and
- 57:02Speaker 1: hip hop for that. I use it as a marketing tool,
- 57:04Speaker 1: like this is a stepping stone to get in front
- 57:06Speaker 1: the world, launch my brand, Like I don't know what
- 57:07Speaker 1: the fuck these niggas doing. I don't care about knowing
- 57:09Speaker 1: these people like that. I don't want to be mixy anyway. Literally,
- 57:11Speaker 1: if you saw me on set, it was how much
- 57:13Speaker 1: more time Okay, we filming a five four to three
- 57:14Speaker 1: to do my thing, and I was out. I never
- 57:17Speaker 1: politics with them, I never hung out. I never wanted
- 57:19Speaker 1: to be friends with these people because it was never
- 57:20Speaker 1: about that for me. And when I look at Zeus,
- 57:23Speaker 1: he's taking jos on them. These people are making more
- 57:25Speaker 1: money than they probably have ever made in television, and
- 57:27Speaker 1: he's given them ownership over the show's EP credits. So
- 57:30Speaker 1: I give him his props for that, But I do
- 57:33Speaker 1: sometimes look at the content go this doesn't necessarily align
- 57:37Speaker 1: with what Jason Lee is about, but it is in
- 57:39Speaker 1: the ecosystem of what Hollywood Unlocked is and that's where
- 57:42Speaker 1: when you talk about it, and I appreciate you saying that,
- 57:44Speaker 1: where the Jason Lee brand and the Hollywood Unlocked brand
- 57:47Speaker 1: are two separate brands. Although I own Hollywood a lot,
- 57:49Speaker 1: I'm putting me out more so you see that my
- 57:52Speaker 1: core brand is focused on empowerment, entertainment, and in the education.
- 57:58Speaker 1: So through empowerment through my foundation, entertainment through my platform
- 58:01Speaker 1: and shows, and education through my courses. Hey, we got
- 58:04Speaker 1: to stop the interview real quick to tell you about
- 58:06Speaker 1: our family at Hard Dean. That's right, Hard Dean Las Vegas,

- 58:26Speaker 1: I sent you. They got the craziest selection of premium
- 58:29Speaker 1: cannabis I've ever seen in my fucking life. The pre rolls,
- 58:33Speaker 1: the cartridges, the edibles, the flower all top notch, all
- 58:38Speaker 1: the best. The bud tenders are so friendly. It smells great.
- 58:42Speaker 1: It smells so good inside of hard Dean that they
- 58:46Speaker 1: have their own Harden's signature scent candle. See I sniffed that,
- 58:52Speaker 1: and I just think of Las Vegas and picking up
- 58:54Speaker 1: some amazing weed. All right, So go follow them right now,

- 59:02Speaker 1: the details you need. You can get you some of

- 59:07Speaker 1: out to our family in Vegas. I'm excited too, because
- 59:10Speaker 1: coming up we're gonna be doing our very first podcast
- 59:13Speaker 1: from Hardeen in Vegas with Young Gravy. Oh yeah, it's
- 59:18Speaker 1: going down, all right, let's get back to the interview.
- 59:20Speaker 1: I'm always curious man being gay in the hip hop industry. Yeah,
- 59:25Speaker 1: it's obviously a very homophobic genre of music historically. Yeah,
- 59:31Speaker 1: because the rappers sucking dick ain't gonna tell you. They're
- 59:34Speaker 1: not gonna tell you. These niggas out here sucking dick,
- 59:36Speaker 1: fucking trans they're not gonna tell you. These motherfuckers out
- 59:38Speaker 1: here fucking and you know what, they never really fuck
- 59:41Speaker 1: with me because one I think, I mean, of course
- 59:43Speaker 1: I'm cute, I'm well dressed, I'm rich. And by the way,
- 59:45Speaker 1: you're forty five and you're yeah, forty five. Black don't crack,
- 59:48Speaker 1: God bless you. Does crack when you're broke? Okay, black
- 59:50Speaker 1: don't crack when you got a good dermatagic. Well you
- 59:52Speaker 1: look great, thank you. But the thing about it is,
- 59:54Speaker 1: I mean, my career is fucked off. My dating opportunity
- 59:57Speaker 1: in the hip hop here because these niggas ain't gonna
- 59:58Speaker 1: slide on my dms because they like or they don't know,
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: they assume that I'm gonna put them on blast, which
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: if they follow me. I don't out people. I don't
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: attack children, and you know, there's one more thing I
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: can't think of. But you know, there's just some certain
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: things that I don't do. But I know that a
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: lot of reasons why some of these hip hop artists
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: don't call my show is they have skeletons and they
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: think that if they sit in that chair, I'm gonna
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: throw them out. I would never out them, you know.
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: But I also feel like they've never outright disrespected me
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: for being gay, because you know, you throw some shit
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: at me. I'm with no pun intendent I'm gonna through
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: some shit at you. But I don't really feel like
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: I don't get disrespected. But I do feel like there's
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: a sense of some artist's sense of fear to, you know,
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: come and sit and talk with me because of what
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: they think I may say. I was gonna say. Do
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: you feel like that the like, like it feels like
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: the homophobia is kind of chilling out a bit when
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: you got a guy like Lil nas X, who's obviously
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: a fucking pop star, but you know, guys like yourself,
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: do you feel like the level of that shit as
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: a least kind of like started to kind of. I
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: will say that I think that mainstream still uses artists
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: like Little Nasax or Saucy Santana to break the barrier
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: by showing a image of what being black and gay
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: looks like. That's not always what it looks like. I'm
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: proud of Saucy Santana in his hustle because I've seen
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: him behind the scenes. I went to the rehearsal with
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: him and Madonna Madonna and by this super nice guy,
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: super but super professional, He's on his shit, like he
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: really is excited. I had like one of my funniest
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: interviews with him ever, Like he was great, He's great,
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: and Little Nasacs for him to be able to continue
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: to live in his truth and do what he's doing,
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: I mean, I'm fans of both, but I also believe
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: that like the industry for years has made the black male,
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: the black gay male experience on TV and in mainstream
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: being accessory to a reality star, housewife or fucking wearing
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: heels and makeup, and that's not all of us. Like
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: some of us are just real niggas who grew up
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: in the hood and who happened to be gay. But
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: like who I'm fucking and who's in my bed should
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: have no Martin, It should have no influence over our
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: relationship because I'm not trying to fuck half the people
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: that think I'm trying to fuck them, right, But I
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: will say that I do think it's getting easier now
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: for people to see us because the representation is there.
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: But what really makes it easier is when you see
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: a Jack Harlowe perform with the Lilina X, not when
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: you see Ilona's X perform at the BT Awards in
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: front of the people and then they pan to the
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: hip hop artists and ever acting uncomfortable when half of
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: your fucking trends and behind your baby mama's back. So
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: that kind of shit makes me uncomfortable because I'm like,
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: don't fucking play around. Don't fucking play around, because what
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: you don't want is you don't want me to stop
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: wanting to protect your secrets. When I could really level
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: the playing field and say, Okay, so and so you
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: and my homeboys such and such and then boom, now
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: they're on my show. I would never do that, But
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: I'm just saying, like I do get frustrated sometimes when
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: I see certain artists seemingly uncomfortable when you know, we know,
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: if we pull the curtain back, there's a skirt under there, right, Yeah.
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: I think that. Like there's a few instances over the
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: last couple of years where I was just like, like
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: me and Boozy talked like he was on my show
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: and I was trying to explain to him why he's
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: pretty homophobic, and he just was not agreeing with me
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: the whole time. I want him on my show. That'd
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: be great. We're talking if you if you that listen,
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: I'd pay I'd pay good money to watch you. And
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: I'm working on it. That would be great working because
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: I think I think he you know, people meet me
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: and they have a different experience and it allows them
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: to be open minded. I don't know, he has put
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: he's been ten tones down for what he believes in,
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: and I'm ten toes down for what I believe in.
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: But I'm able to have a conversation where I can
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: help a person see. Like, you know, if you think
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: about it, if you are a woman and you're homophobic,
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: then you're you're you don't believe in feminist rights of
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: women having equal paid them in you don't believe in
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: being able to have the right to vote. You don't
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: believe in any you know, you don't believe in having
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: control over your bodies. If you believe in all those things,
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: then how could you not believe another community have the
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: same belief that they should have those rights too, Because
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: it's not going to take away from what you got me.
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: Fucking some dude ain't gonna make it. It doesn't mean
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: I want to fuck your kid, doesn't mean I want
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: to fuck your husband. We're not pedophiles, but we're just
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: in our community. So what is it that that makes
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: you uncomfortable about what we're doing when it has no
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: effect on what you're doing. Now If you say, oh, well,
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: my kids have to see it your kids. You also
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: paid for your kid to get head from a woman
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: who gave you head. So who could say that they
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: would pay to get their dick suck and then let
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: that same mouth go suck the dick of their underage child.
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: You can call that what you want, little strange, little strange.
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: Every community has this shit, But you can't say that's
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: a little strange. But then look at our community and
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: say that's fucking weird. It's all weird. If weird is weird,
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: it's all weird or it's just your preference in ours.
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: We prefer to do shit that you don't do. You
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: prefer to do shit that we don't do. But we
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: have to get to a place where like gay niggas
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: ain't going nowhere, and these these these these hood nigga
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: who grew up with whatever they grew up with, they're
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: not going to where. So how do we co exist
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: in the world where we're not judging each other and
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: attacking each other, but you're just co existing. Yeah, I think, uh,
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: I think we're getting we'll probably be to a place
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: in like twenty or thirty years where like just like
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: everyone's fucking everybody, it'll be there. When Me and Boozy
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: had to interview, me and boy, me and Boosy is
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: on my short list. I respect him enough to have
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: the diet. Oh he's a legend. Yeah, and he's uncancellable.
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: He's like one of the few guys who could just
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: do anything. And it's like he's he's fucking boozy, Like,
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: what do you want from him? My cousin loves Boosy.
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: Boozy's going Boozy Boosy. My cousin Anthony from Stockton, he said, bro,
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: you gotta get This is like when I wasn't really
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: on Boozy because at first it was a lot to digest. Well, listen,
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: being from the West Coast, I also I knew about Boozy.
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: I knew some of his ship. But then I moved
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: to Florida and I really saw, like, oh, he's there
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: Tupac for real. Really Like I moved to Tampa, Florida
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: when he got out of jail. I was living there. Yeah,
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: you'd have thought, like the good Loves Jesus got resurrected
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: out of the fucking Clearwater Beach oce, like they love
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: they love me. My cousin's he's the barometer of the
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: Boozy and the NBA Young Boys and all that world.
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: He's like, yo, you gotta get Boozy. So I'm working
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: on it. Okay, before you go, I want to play
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: the uncanceled game with you one time. Okay, Okay, You're
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: put in charge of Tory Lanez and his pr two scenarios. What.
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: Tory is a good friend of mine, So I like Tori.
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: I know he's a good guy. I mean, listen, he
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: fucked up obviously, so he's been a good guy to me.
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: Let's just say that. But let's say the day after
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: all this happens, he's in jail. You're a pr guy.
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: How do you handle this? What do you tell him
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: to do? Stay off the phone? But I'm saying like, okay,
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: when you realize all this is going to come out,
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: it's getting ugly, do you tell me just come out
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: and admit it? No? I mean I think you know,
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: whatever a person goes through legally is there privately is
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: their business. But I feel like once you get on there,
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: once you make a song and then you write horse
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: or something referencing horse. When you know, Meghan the Stallion,
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: you put out the album today that the what was
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: the verdict of the of the young lady who got
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: killed by the cops? Uh? Browna Taylor, Branda Taylor, Yeah,
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: the same. Yeah, it was okay when you pop out,
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: when you have debate, when you have uh, when you
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: pull up on the baby sat right after Megan got
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: off stage of Rolling Loud, when you yeah, when you
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: do all of that, I mean like you're not I'll quit,
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: you know, I quit, Like you can't really, But when
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: you politic the media to try to create a narrative
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: that you're innocent, when you know that the trial's coming,
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: and at some point the stakes are so high. Your
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: freedom in this country is at steak, your career is
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: at steak. Women, your audience with women are sick, like
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: you're going at some point. You're making all these decisions
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: because people believe the court of public opinion is more
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: important than anything. So you're trying to gaslight people. But
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: what he failed to realize is that ultimately, women who've
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: been victimi by men for years are going to switch
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: whenever the conversation changes and the conversation change, And so yeah,
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: I would have just advised him to stay focused on
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: his music, stay focused on rehabilitating that relationship, stay focused
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: on all things positive. You can change the narrative positive content.
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: But he wanted to be the bad boy of R
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: and BN or whatever. He doesn't right where he is.
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: Any advice you would give for up and coming content
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: creators go to my go to. This is a plug
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: mediamionnaires dot com. Literally right now. Our courses have been
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: We sold some courses during Black Friday and then we
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: shut it down to really focus on the community that
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: we're building. Media Manaire University wanting to do bi weekly
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: coaching sessions and all this stuff that we're building to
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: give these people access to people who are creating change
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: in the game. I would say, you have to find
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: a way to invest in yourself and get educated. If
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: it's not my course, go to college and take the
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: courses that are important to you, or you know, go
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: watch all a bunch of podcasts. But you have to
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: be educated on what you want to do and be
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: very strategic, know what your exit strategy is, or else
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: should be working ten years at something that has no end.
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: I have an end in ten years. I have a
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: plan to be fully gone if I want to be
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: or politics, you know, I would say that the only
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: reason I would say no to politics is because I've
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: done so much fuck shit that by ten years from
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: now they're gonna be like that nigga never But then
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: Donald Trump again Trump, this guy, this guy Trump was,
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: he was mister fuck fuck Boyard. I will say, you know,
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: I do. If I wasn't doing what I'm doing now,
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: i'd be doing politics, or I'd be working in the Union.
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: But I have ambitions to be an investor. I want
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: to invest and help build companies and partner and seed
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: in companies. So yeah, I don't know if politics, But
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: I won't lie. My foundation is very much organized, built
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: on an organizing model where we do want to have
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: influence in local and national politics. Hey, we got to
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: stop the interview to tell you about our family at
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: odd socks. That's right, the most comfortable socks in the

- 1:11:12Speaker 1: get to put the coke hat on. This hat doesn't
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: work for me, does It doesn't work for me? Anyway?
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: You could get you this hat though, Hey, Cyrus, take
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: a coke hat. There you go, go to odd socksofficial
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: dot com. Use the promo code bootleg right now, save
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: twenty percent off, and go purge their website for Black Friday.
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: Get gifts for your family. Your fucking family will love
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: you if you buy them the most comfortable socks in
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: the world. It's that simple. Or you could buy them
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: some fucking bullshit socks. You could go buy them some
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: garbage ass fucking Ethhica or some bullshit ass fucking Nike socks.
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: Fuck them, get odd socks. Let's get back to the
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: interview for you like being close with like the democratic
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: side of of the political spectrum. The last four years
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: is been like very well, last six years has been
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: just I feel like we're like still like in a
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: south Park episode kind of it's it's kind of fucking crazy,
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: but like the like the left has kind of rebounded
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: a bit, and now there's all these Joe Biden documents
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: that are popping up in fucking a million different places.
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: I feel like Donald Trump radicalized like an entire part
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: of the country that was just a sleep and while
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: doing that also radicalized everybody who's on the extreme far left.
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: How the fuck do we like move together as a nation,
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: in your opinion and try to kind of like because
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: I feel like just the divisiveness of the country, I
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: thought that like Biden getting elected might help it, but
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: it doesn't feel like it's you know, listen, he's kind
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: of just a zombie up there, just you know, trying
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: to get through his fucking term. I'll say, Joe Biden
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: is he's doing a lot for the black community that
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: has overlooked because all the other stuff, and kind of
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: so is he because you've heard, because I've heard I've
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: heard I've heard people be a little like like I've
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: heard Charlamagne say that he had made some promises that
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: he did not follow up. I mean the George for
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: Pol actor me and like me and Charlomagne made agree
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: to disagree with. Charlemagne's far more intelligent than I am
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: in politics, so I kind of just let him do
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: whatever and whatever. But I mean, like they did develop
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: We talked about this on Breakfast Club the other day,
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: Like they did establish the anti lynchion Bill, which is
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: the first time in history, which should have been done
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: a long time ago, but he did that. You know,
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: the person running the defense right now as a black man.
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: The person managing the national budget is a black woman.
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: When you look at you know, the press secretary for
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: the president and the vice president, they're both black women.
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: One's a black queer woman. So he has done a
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: lot in the terms of putting us in positions to
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: be able to like see visibility and see us there.
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: But then also like him exonerating all the people who've
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: been arrested for federal marijuana charges. I mean, you know,
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: the student loans. I mean, he's done a lot, and
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: a lot's always never enough. But I'm not going to
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: say it's perfect, because you know that would be a lot.
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: But you know what's the alternative Trump? Oh no, no no, no, listen.
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: I voted for Joe Biden if he's if it's Joe
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: Biden's corpse or Donald Trump in twenty twenty whatever the
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: fuck twenty twenty fours, I'm right, give me the skeleton.
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: But I will say, if I had to give advice
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: to people, man, fuck all that national shit. That's something
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: of Pittons do a local politics. We just got Karen
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: Bass elected here in La. Karen Bass is somebody who
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: helped me get somebody out of prison. I interviewed her
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: on my show. I felt she was the real deal.
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: I work with politicians for years at the Union. I
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: called her on this side and say, hey, I've been
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: trying to get a friend of mine out who's twenty
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: four years old. He's locked up in a prison recently
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: in Kansas a couple of years ago. He was twenty
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: four at the time from my hometown. Was somebody that
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: we all knew and first time offender, got arrested for
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: a pound in marijuana and he got eight years, and
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: I just felt like that was so I called everybody
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: from Kim Kardashian to Van Jones to this group, to
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: this group, and I was feeling helpless. But then I
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: started feeling like, again with anything I do in my career,
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: if I feel like I wanted bad enough, I'm not
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: going to fucking play. And he would call me every
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: other day, still being very positive, but you know, it
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: felt like what happened was wrong and wanted me to
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: help them. So I called Karen on the side, say hey,
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: I really feel passionate about this, and she started talking
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: about challenges with prison reform and that this was a
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: real thing and blah blah blah. And then COVID happened.
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: So I was calling the governor in that state. Governor
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: wouldn't return my calls. Karen got her attorney as the congresswoman. Wow,
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: on the phone with the governor and her attorney and
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: negotiated his release and fully exonerated him and now he
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: just got his license. Wow. So like she's the real deal.
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: So when she said she was running from mayor, I
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: was like, no fucking way, I'm not helping her. And
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: then to see Kim Kardashian snooping. Different people come out
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: and support for the other guy, the other guy who
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: had just become a former Republican who just became a
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: Democrat because he's running in LA Yeah, exactly. But people
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: don't pay enough attention to the local politics where that's
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: what affects your shit, that's what affects what's at home.
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: So yeah, that national shit is important. The local shit
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: is the most important, though, it's the most important to
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: get involved. And once you get involved with local politics,
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: you start to understand like how to be involved local, statewide, nationally,
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: like how you understand climate change. You know, conversations happening
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: in Paris for the whole world affect us. And when
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: we when our president says we don't believe in that
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: ship pulls out and then you start seeing, you know,
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: you go to New York and there's no fucking snow
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: on the ground, Like, yo, it's warm, it's beautiful in
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: New York. Now, motherfucker, this is this is not good
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: because there's not snow on the ground. It's not snowing
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: in New York in the winter. That means that climate
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: control is out of control. And what is this going
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: to look like for your kids and your kids kids?
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: And I don't think people are connected enough because they're
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: too busy fucking tiktoking and wearing the right photo on
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: Instagram that they're disconnected from the fact that the world's
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: faun apartment. It's kind of by design too, of course.
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: Look at TikTok like China TikTok Teddy Bears. Yeah, in China,
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: the TikTok experience for kids is way different. Yeah. Out
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: here they're like, yeah, well, how did you see them?
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: All the bullshit? Yeah? Keep them distracted, it's crazy. Well listen, man,
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: you got a lot going on. Ones episode two come
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: out with krashaan Rock and Bluff Free Tuesday night, ten
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: pm Eastern on Revolt, And then the YouTube is winnesdayday. Yep,
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: Monday is the audio. Monday is the audio. You can
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: download the Jason Lee Potts. Thursday is after dark Wednesday.
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: Wednesday night after Friday is the Jason Lee podcast. Thursdays,
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: we're giving them a break. Thursday, nothing going on. I
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: mean you can really you could take a break. You
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: can take a break. Yeah, Hollywood unlocked. Anything else you
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: want to plug your You obviously got your charity. No,
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: just you know, I'm just living life. I appreciate you know,
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: people like you doing your homework and being a good
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: interview fan. Man, I think you're dope, and like I
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: you know, you got into it with a friend of mine. Uh,
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: Peter Rosenberg's my boy, you know, But I forget I no, no, no.
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: But it's funny because when you got into it with him,
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: I had your side, did you really? Yeah? Because I
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: did you talk to them about it? No? But I
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: i'd like DM them about or something. I just I
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: thought that, like I actually forgot what actually the argument
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: was about. But I think in terms you were kind
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: of speaking from somebody who's like an owner who owns
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: your ship. Well, and I appreciate it. Here I'll say this, Okay, Peter,
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: if you're watching, I love Pete man. That's I never
- 1:18:01Speaker 1: wanted to hate on Peter. And he's a good he's
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: a great guy. He probably is like here's my deal,
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: don't fucking start ship with me, Like I literally be
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: minding my business unless it's my business to mind the
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: business that we're speaking, right, And I never hated on him.
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: I never you know, he's whatever. He's Peter Rosberg. He's
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: built his name and I'm building mine. But I do
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: take it personal when people personally when they personalize and
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: attack me and think that I'm not going to tack back.
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: So I did say to Noriega, Yo, I'm coming on
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: drink Chand's bro. I'm gonna fucking come on there and
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: just talk my shit. But I didn't even tell Peter Rosberg,
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: and I wasn't even focused on Peter. But once he
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: asked about about Peter on the show, I made it
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: by him. But I did see recently like he kind
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: of I think he emailed me or DM me or something.
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: I think he tried to connect with me and we
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: haven't connected. He's a nice guy, but I did say,
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: fuck Hot ninety seven as a company, fuck that whole brand.
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: Fuck everybody over there is up. We don't support them.
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: They recently try to interview me to them and fuck
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: them no, and you know what, until they make good
- 1:18:59Speaker 1: and make even I'm not sucking nobody's dick, No pun
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: intend it for a fucking look, because I have the look,
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: I have the platform or radio. I'm not gonna do that.
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: I don't need to go do a fucking radio run
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: with you know, these fucking losers. Hebro from from Sacramento
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: Hero Before he was he was from Sack. But I
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: knew hero before. But you know he has selective memory.
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: I don't know if it's agent or Whatay he just
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: forgot me, doesn't remember well whatever. But I had a
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: lot of respect for Hebro is like, lookal Molly mal
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: from Stockton. Absolutely, I grew up with Molly and my
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: brother are best friends. Yeah, but you know, I don't
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: hate Ebro either. I'm just not. I don't. I don't.
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: You know, I'm not none of these I'm not subservient
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: to none of these guys. Hebro still comments on Hollywood
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: and we haven't blocked them, you know we haven't. I
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: don't blocked a lot of people. Huh. What's the block
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: list over there with more than a thousand? Nah? Nah,
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: we really don't block people, like because what about you me?
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: Oh my ship? Yeah, my ship? Yeah yeah, probably I
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: got at least I got at least two thousand people blocked.
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: I don't have that many or the early love and
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: hip hop days. Yeah, like when people like leave some
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: like when I would like say some political ship and
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: some maga motherfucker be in my comments of block. But
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: you can filter your comment now and you can restrict
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: people so they don't know you blocked him. I restrict people.
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: I don't block them. When you retrict them, they can't
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: leave comments somewhere. Yeah. But I will say Floyd told
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: me a long time ago, why would you give somebody
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: the privilege of knowing they got your attention, because because
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: if you block them, they're like, oh they I got
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: to him, right, He's like, he was like, I don't.
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: He was like, I don't. I don't even you know.
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: But of course he's a billionaire. So if you and
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: Floyd are close, you have a money team. Bracelet Now,
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: I know plenty of strippers walking around Los Angeles right
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: now that have Rolexes. Per the money team. I mean,
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: I have Rolexes. I have rolex I have a Hublow.
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: But he that's his token of appreciation to his team
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: in general, the man and the women. The women get
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: us a certain type of watch, and the men get
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: a certain type of watch. And for a long time
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: I wouldn't accept any gifts from him because I really
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: wanted him to know the relationship was genuine. It was
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: really I was just I was really inspired to see
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: somebody come from a Stockton Grand Rapids and fucking hustle
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: become a billionaire off of this talent, right, and I
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: wanted to and I had a front row seat to
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: learn from this guy. I talked to him today, matter
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: of fact, on the way over here. Yeah, talk to him, so,
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, I mean he's been a great support.
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: So once I on one of my birthdays several years ago,
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: he gave me the Hu blow when he was fighting.
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: I don't know if it was Packyar or whoever he
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: was fighting, gave me a blow. He gave us all
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: of us in the room and Hu blow. And then
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: when I got my flash podcast deal with Fox Soul,
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: he gave me a Rolex. But now I bought my
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: own watches. You know, I bout my own jewelry. Hey,
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: you're rich rich man. I'm not rich rich, but I'm
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: fifty million dollar evaluation rich Hollywood unlocked. Congratulations on that,
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: and thank you for coming man. That's a hard work
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: and dedication. Hard work and dedication. There it is. Hey,
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: Jason Lee, my guy, thanks for the time. Yes, sir,
