- 0:52It's lunchtime.
- 0:54What's going on, everybody?
- 0:56It's a party Friday with the Glintons,
- 0:58and they're still dancing.
- 1:00At least some of them.
- 1:01It's a vibe.
- 1:02Oh, my God.
- 1:03That is the jam.
- 1:04That's a vibe.
- 1:07It's so awesome.
- 1:08Every day.
- 1:08So it's so good to see today.
- 1:10This is what happens every time we go.
- 1:13Scott plays a song, and half the time,
- 1:16both of us are just watching each other
- 1:17just kind of bop back and forth because
- 1:19it's a jam.
- 1:20What are you going to do?
- 1:21It is catchy.
- 1:23We actually had people comment the other
- 1:25day that they don't leave our show until
- 1:27the outro is done.
- 1:29And it's a different version with the same
- 1:31lyrics.
- 1:32But they hang on until it totally goes
- 1:34away.
- 1:37I found this cool tool and I've made
- 1:39theme songs for all the shows.
- 1:42And I don't know how I lived without
- 1:43it.
- 1:45no you can't you can't have a show
- 1:47now without it that's amazing no it's
- 1:50fantastic well you guys have a cool open
- 1:54like whose decision was it to go with
- 1:57a theme song in an open
- 1:59No,
- 1:59it was we talked to Pedro and Pedro
- 2:02did it for us.
- 2:03And it was really cool.
- 2:04And he was just like, hey,
- 2:06do you have an idea?
- 2:06Do you have it?
- 2:07And I was like, nope.
- 2:09All you, buddy.
- 2:10What do you what you got?
- 2:11Like, I'm not.
- 2:12I got nothing for you.
- 2:16Thanks, Pedro.
- 2:17I think he just went through some of
- 2:18our shows and pulled some clips from some
- 2:20of our shows.
- 2:20And he did.
- 2:21That was all Pedro.
- 2:22Thank you, Pedro.
- 2:24You're amazing.
- 2:25Yeah.
- 2:26Do you know that Pedro and I started
- 2:27our podcast like two weeks apart,
- 2:29three weeks apart,
- 2:30something like that back in two thousand
- 2:32nineteen?
- 2:33You first and then him or him?
- 2:35Yeah, it was I was first.
- 2:37He was second.
- 2:38But we didn't know each other at that
- 2:40moment.
- 2:42But we became friends like shortly after
- 2:44because we were.
- 2:46We were one of the very few that
- 2:48had something outside of CrossFit that was
- 2:51our own podcast.
- 2:53So we would talk all the time.
- 2:55probably three or four times a week back
- 2:58then.
- 2:58Wow.
- 2:59Did not know that.
- 3:00Yeah.
- 3:00I definitely found yours first.
- 3:02I found Clydesdale first.
- 3:04I think it was, uh,
- 3:06was it you Armin, uh,
- 3:11Craig Ritchie.
- 3:12There's a couple,
- 3:12there's like four or five that I,
- 3:14that I knew of back then that that's
- 3:16all I watched.
- 3:17And then a bodybuilder dude that would
- 3:18always do the Arnold classic or something
- 3:21like that.
- 3:21And you'd watch that.
- 3:22And that was fun.
- 3:23But other than that,
- 3:24that's what I had through.
- 3:27yeah like my inspiration was armin and
- 3:29savann and savann had retired like he left
- 3:32crossfit he was no longer doing the
- 3:33crossfit podcast and he was gone from the
- 3:37scene it wasn't until like a year later
- 3:40that he brought his back yeah josh matt
- 3:42and savann yeah yeah so
- 3:46So it was wild.
- 3:47It was a wild time.
- 3:47And Pedro wasn't Pedro back then.
- 3:50Like he was just Peter.
- 3:51He was actually just Peter at that point,
- 3:53coffee pods and wads.
- 3:54And he actually had a couple of episodes,
- 3:55if I remember right,
- 3:55where they actually talked about coffee.
- 3:57They did.
- 3:59They used to talk about coffee.
- 4:01Wasn't it Savon that gave him Pedro,
- 4:04the nickname?
- 4:04Yep.
- 4:05Yeah.
- 4:06I feel like once you get a nickname
- 4:07like that, you just,
- 4:09it just sticks with you.
- 4:10You know what I mean?
- 4:11So when people say Peter, I'm like,
- 4:12who are they talking about?
- 4:13Oh, Pedro.
- 4:14They're talking about Pedro.
- 4:16The cowboy came from Siobhan as well.
- 4:20That's why Corey is the cowboy.
- 4:22Wait, you have to tell me that story.
- 4:24I've never heard that story.
- 4:25Barbell Shrugged too.
- 4:26You're right.
- 4:27Papa Frank.
- 4:28Barbell Shrugged was in there too
- 4:29somewhere.
- 4:30Yep.
- 4:32Because he was talking about listening to
- 4:35Scott's show and for whatever reason
- 4:40associated me with riding a fucking horse.
- 4:45Which I have ridden a horse before,
- 4:46but not religiously.
- 4:48I definitely don't own one.
- 4:49I ain't got to ride a horse money
- 4:51by any stretch of the imagination.
- 4:53So he started calling me the cowboy.
- 4:55And that was before he realized that it
- 4:57was me from the chat.
- 5:00completely.
- 5:01And then like,
- 5:01once he put those two things together,
- 5:04knowing that I was from Louisiana and
- 5:05whatnot, like he just,
- 5:06and he just leaned into it ever since.
- 5:08Yeah.
- 5:09Basically what Birch said,
- 5:10he thinks everybody in the South is a
- 5:11cowboy.
- 5:13And I've always been the Clydesdale.
- 5:15So it went, cowboy went with Clydesdale.
- 5:19So it just made sense once it stuck.
- 5:22That doesn't, yeah.
- 5:23Clydesdale and the cowboy facts.
- 5:26Yeah.
- 5:26How did you come up with the name?
- 5:28Yeah.
- 5:29Clydesdale.
- 5:30Yeah.
- 5:32So back when I was a kid,
- 5:33I was very athletic.
- 5:35I did a lot of things and they
- 5:36used to have races like five Ks,
- 5:39things like that,
- 5:39where they had a Clydesdale division and
- 5:43it was anybody over two hundred pounds was
- 5:45a Clydesdale.
- 5:46Mm hmm.
- 5:47And so when I first got into CrossFit,
- 5:51I weighed over five hundred pounds.
- 5:52And I was like,
- 5:53and then as I lost weight,
- 5:55I still was big.
- 5:56And I was like,
- 5:57wouldn't it be nice if local comps had
- 5:58a Clydesdale division?
- 6:00Because our pull ups are way harder than
- 6:02the little guy's pull ups.
- 6:05And so that's where it derived from.
- 6:07And then I'm a less believer in having
- 6:12a Clydesdale division,
- 6:13but it just stuck after that.
- 6:16Also known as rig shakers.
- 6:18Yes.
- 6:20That's under two hundred pounds, too.
- 6:22That's not one eighty five.
- 6:23You see all those boys that like one.
- 6:25I weigh one eighty five.
- 6:26I do not shake the rig.
- 6:27You do.
- 6:27You know a lot.
- 6:29We watched you.
- 6:30We saw you.
- 6:30Corey, you only weigh one eighty five.
- 6:34One eighty five.
- 6:35One eighty eight.
- 6:35Depending on the day.
- 6:36Yeah.
- 6:37Have you ever met him in person?
- 6:39No, I have not.
- 6:41I sent him a picture of me standing
- 6:42next to Will.
- 6:44Which is so funny.
- 6:46I was like,
- 6:46Will is exactly this much taller than me.
- 6:49And Corey looks like he's a carnival
- 6:51prize.
- 6:52I look like someone,
- 6:53like he won me at a,
- 6:54like the carnival,
- 6:56knocked some bottles down.
- 6:58They were like, here you go.
- 7:01And then it got weird.
- 7:04Yeah, it got weird.
- 7:05It got pretty weird after that.
- 7:07My dream is to see Joseph and Corey
- 7:09in a slam dunk contest.
- 7:12So fun fact.
- 7:15In high school,
- 7:16I could jump pretty damn high,
- 7:18and we were practicing half-court stuff
- 7:19one day.
- 7:21And the ball – and Garrett,
- 7:23she played ball.
- 7:23Like,
- 7:24you know how sometimes the ball hit the
- 7:25back of the rim and just go flying
- 7:27like across the gym?
- 7:28Yeah.
- 7:28Somebody took a shot.
- 7:29That happened.
- 7:30I was standing close to half-court,
- 7:32and it took one of those bounces where
- 7:34I looked up and I was like, ooh.
- 7:36You know how people throw it up,
- 7:37let it bounce, and then dunk, right?
- 7:40So I follow it up.
- 7:41It takes that perfect bounce,
- 7:43and I jump –
- 7:44and i pinned it on the bottom of
- 7:45the rim and landed flat on my ass
- 7:49the rim stuffed you yeah a hundred percent
- 7:51a hundred percent and i'm laid out like
- 7:53this coach green walks up to me and
- 7:56looks down and goes you all right said
- 8:01yeah i think so he said don't ever
- 8:03do that again said yes sir
- 8:06We'd have to make the room like eight
- 8:08feet for you guys.
- 8:08Isn't there a child tight?
- 8:10Eight and a half.
- 8:10Oh, okay.
- 8:14Eight feet.
- 8:14Yeah.
- 8:15I thought we just use that Fisher price
- 8:16plastic one that you can get down with
- 8:18that as well.
- 8:19Yes, absolutely.
- 8:21Down, down with that as well.
- 8:22You gotta be careful with that one though,
- 8:23because Ramirez's beard might get stuck in
- 8:25that and then he'll just be attached to
- 8:27it for the rest of the day.
- 8:31His head's like this dangling.
- 8:33Yeah.
- 8:34Like help me please.
- 8:36So speaking, speaking of this, like,
- 8:39is he your Caleb?
- 8:41He is.
- 8:42Like full time Caleb?
- 8:43Yes.
- 8:44He's our backdoor guy.
- 8:44Yeah.
- 8:45We love him.
- 8:47I have wanted a Caleb for the entire
- 8:51time I've done this podcast.
- 8:53So he actually approached us.
- 8:55You know,
- 8:55he was a very big personality in our
- 8:58chat.
- 9:00And then we became friends, obviously,
- 9:01like as we all start.
- 9:03Right.
- 9:03We're in DMs.
- 9:04We're sending reels.
- 9:04We're laughing about stuff.
- 9:05We're bitching about CrossFit.
- 9:06We're loving CrossFit, whatever.
- 9:08And then he reached out to Garrett and
- 9:12was like, well,
- 9:13we met them at the games and then
- 9:14we saw them again at H.E.R.D.
- 9:15And, you know,
- 9:16we were becoming friends with him and Meg.
- 9:17And then he just reached out to her
- 9:19and was like, if I can help, like,
- 9:21I really want to help.
- 9:23And he has taken that position and he
- 9:26has he is the sole reason why we
- 9:29have had some of the awesome guests that
- 9:31we have had.
- 9:32He has just reached out to everybody,
- 9:33which has been very helpful because it's
- 9:35such a busy season for Garrett and I
- 9:37both with our jobs and then obviously with
- 9:39our son.
- 9:41Yeah.
- 9:41So he's really just stepped up and and
- 9:44and helped us.
- 9:45And so it's really,
- 9:46really cool that we have, you know,
- 9:49that he wanted to do that for us.
- 9:51Does he secure all the guests or do
- 9:53you do some of that yourself?
- 9:55I used to do it all.
- 9:59Even though my wife has gotten some of
- 10:00the,
- 10:01like when she got Kristen Pancheck to come
- 10:03on the show,
- 10:04I almost died and fell out.
- 10:05I got two.
- 10:06I was the one that got Bill Grundler.
- 10:08Y'all were fangirling so hard when Kristen
- 10:11got on and it was awesome to watch.
- 10:12Oh my gosh.
- 10:14Oh, my God.
- 10:15I was a little speechless on that.
- 10:16And I haven't been since, you know,
- 10:19we had Bill on and he pretty much
- 10:20was like,
- 10:20you can't act like fans like you guys
- 10:23are professionals now.
- 10:24And it was very helpful for me because
- 10:25when we started all of this, it's like,
- 10:26oh, my God,
- 10:27we're talking to people that we have
- 10:29watched on screen.
- 10:30Right.
- 10:30And you do get that sense of like
- 10:32they're above you, you know,
- 10:34and you idolize them and stuff.
- 10:35And so Bill really helped me be like.
- 10:37We're just people.
- 10:39And so that's been very helpful for me.
- 10:40But when Kristen Panchak came on the
- 10:42screen, I was like, okay,
- 10:43I need a minute.
- 10:43Like I just, one of those,
- 10:45I need a minute, you know?
- 10:48It's funny that Bill said that because I
- 10:50think the charm of what you guys bring
- 10:52to the space is the fangirl part of
- 10:55it.
- 10:56I can't not.
- 10:58Like, as much as he said it,
- 10:59maybe Colleen took it to, I can't.
- 11:03Every time, like,
- 11:04even Tyler or Ty Jenkins last night when
- 11:07he came on the show, like, he, like,
- 11:09smiled or whipped his hair or something,
- 11:11and I almost choked on a FitAid,
- 11:12and I had to, like,
- 11:13get up and run out of there.
- 11:14You ran away for a couple minutes.
- 11:15I had to, like, I was like, ugh.
- 11:17Let me go clear my throat.
- 11:20To be fair, his hair is next level.
- 11:24It is world class.
- 11:27Him and Tudor are fighting for the best
- 11:29hair in the biz.
- 11:30So...
- 11:32yeah and dave castro come on let's yes
- 11:35dave's flow is is mariah is awesome right
- 11:38now except right now lets it go that
- 11:40wasn't that one interview like he like it
- 11:43was and it just stuck straight it was
- 11:45humid it was like cory's hair yeah there's
- 11:47something about mary it was just up
- 11:49straight up if we're talking fangirl
- 11:52moment though your interview with lucy
- 11:54campbell
- 11:56Garrett, you were like,
- 11:57you had lost it completely.
- 11:59I didn't know what even to say.
- 12:01I didn't know where we were in the
- 12:02interview.
- 12:03I didn't know what question anybody was
- 12:05on.
- 12:06It didn't help that she just showed up.
- 12:09Yeah.
- 12:10We really thought we were going to have
- 12:12to wait another two hours.
- 12:13We thought time zone was wrong.
- 12:15And that she was going to come on
- 12:16at eight thirty instead of five thirty.
- 12:18So I was like, OK,
- 12:18we're just going to screw around on this
- 12:21forty five minute podcast and then we'll
- 12:23come back.
- 12:24Nope.
- 12:25She popped on and I was just like,
- 12:27I can't breathe.
- 12:28Like, it's Lucy Campbell.
- 12:30And then she said she recognized us.
- 12:32I was like, okay, well, I'm done.
- 12:35That's it.
- 12:36Lucy goes, yeah,
- 12:37I saw y'all walking across the street.
- 12:39I waved.
- 12:40Both of y'all were like, we did what?
- 12:42You recognize us?
- 12:44You know what we look like?
- 12:46Before we met you here?
- 12:47Like, you know who we are?
- 12:48Yeah.
- 12:50But I think what I mean by what
- 12:51Bill said,
- 12:52it didn't it didn't take the fangirl out
- 12:55of me like I'm such still a huge
- 12:57fan of these people.
- 12:58But it took the anxiety, I think,
- 13:00away from me where it was like, oh,
- 13:02my God, I'm so anxious.
- 13:03I'm talking to these people.
- 13:04It's like I can be a fan without
- 13:06feeling like that.
- 13:08I'm so full of anxiety or there's so
- 13:10much pressure that it has to look a
- 13:11certain way.
- 13:12And I think the fun thing for Garrett
- 13:13and I is we've found our lane.
- 13:15We've created our lane as to.
- 13:17what really works for us.
- 13:18And Ty said this to us last night
- 13:20or whatever after the show, you know,
- 13:22we were saying thank you.
- 13:23And he said the dynamic between her and
- 13:25I of having double hosts is different.
- 13:28Usually if it's like an interview,
- 13:30like if they're on set, it's one person.
- 13:31Caleb might be there,
- 13:32but it's Seb's interview.
- 13:34You know what I mean?
- 13:35And so we've established that back and
- 13:38forth chemistry to be able to have these
- 13:40type of conversations, which has been,
- 13:41I think,
- 13:42very fun for us to develop that.
- 13:45He goes,
- 13:46you guys have really good chemistry
- 13:47together.
- 13:48I was like, I hope so.
- 13:49We've been married for fourteen years with
- 13:50a nine year old.
- 13:51I hope we do.
- 13:53If not, we're in trouble.
- 13:56I have a question about that, too,
- 13:58because
- 14:00When I started my show,
- 14:01I had two co-hosts.
- 14:03And it was really difficult.
- 14:05We were stepping on each other's toes.
- 14:07One thing I found, like,
- 14:09when you're trying to interview someone,
- 14:12the way you ask questions,
- 14:13you're setting them up for maybe a future
- 14:15question to get them to feel comfortable.
- 14:18And inevitably, the other person would,
- 14:21like,
- 14:21jump in with a question completely off
- 14:23topic.
- 14:24And now you've lost the train of thought.
- 14:27So...
- 14:30How do you guys get through that?
- 14:34Or are you aware because you're in the
- 14:36same room of when the person wants to
- 14:39take them down the path?
- 14:41No,
- 14:41I think it's just one of us has
- 14:44the energy to start with and then they'll
- 14:47get tired or they'll start to teeter out
- 14:50so the other one will
- 14:53pick it up from where like Colleen left
- 14:55off and I give her mind a break.
- 14:57So I'll talk with the person for a
- 14:59little bit, but no,
- 15:00we stepped on each other,
- 15:01each other's toes a lot in the beginning.
- 15:03It was, I,
- 15:04we would look at each other afterwards and
- 15:06you didn't let me finish a question.
- 15:07You didn't let me do this.
- 15:08You didn't let me do that.
- 15:09It was like, Oh my goodness.
- 15:11It was, it was,
- 15:13we figured it out now, I guess.
- 15:14It's just kind of a little,
- 15:17we don't really go in with a plan
- 15:19either.
- 15:19So yeah.
- 15:20Well, when we first started,
- 15:22G very much had an idea or a
- 15:26plan of exactly how she wanted to have
- 15:28the shows go.
- 15:30And I'm very much a person that I
- 15:31thrive the most when I just jump into
- 15:33the conversation and I allow the questions
- 15:36to come up as the conversation is going.
- 15:38So I didn't do too much like extra
- 15:39research, I guess you could say,
- 15:41because I didn't want to have a
- 15:42conversation that somebody else had.
- 15:44So if, like,
- 15:45you and Corey are on a show, right,
- 15:47and you guys are having a conversation,
- 15:48I don't want to have the same conversation
- 15:50that you two had.
- 15:51I want to have a conversation with Scott,
- 15:53and then whatever that conversation turns
- 15:55into, that's what we talk about.
- 15:57It can be the same topic,
- 15:58you know what I mean?
- 15:59But the conversation itself.
- 16:01And so I think what we've...
- 16:03And what we really leaned into is that
- 16:06these are our conversations.
- 16:08And I've even said to Lucy the other
- 16:09day, I was like,
- 16:10I know you've told your story a hundred
- 16:11times,
- 16:11but can you tell it again to us
- 16:13this time so that we can have those
- 16:15questions, you know?
- 16:16And so I just think sometimes we still
- 16:18do that where it's like,
- 16:19I really want to ask this question because
- 16:21of what this person said.
- 16:24And Garrett's like,
- 16:24you need to give me a minute.
- 16:25I want to ask this.
- 16:26And then if we get back to that
- 16:28question, it's okay.
- 16:29If we don't,
- 16:29we follow suit of where the conversation
- 16:31goes.
- 16:32But that's a lot of practice that we've
- 16:33had.
- 16:34And like she said in the beginning,
- 16:37we stepped on each other's toes so badly
- 16:40in so many conversations that we talked
- 16:44about afterwards.
- 16:47You both come at it from different
- 16:48perspectives too.
- 16:50I think I like that too because...
- 16:53You know,
- 16:54Garrett has the history of everything and
- 16:56have either heard or seen.
- 16:59And Colleen, you come at it with like,
- 17:01almost like a therapist.
- 17:02Does that, have you heard that before?
- 17:05I've been told that, yes.
- 17:09Do you have a background there or are
- 17:12you just like me who've been through
- 17:13therapy?
- 17:13Yes.
- 17:15Yes.
- 17:16So I, it wasn't a therapist.
- 17:19She called,
- 17:20she considers herself a life coach and I,
- 17:22and I worked with life coaches for
- 17:24probably the three years, babe,
- 17:26two and a half, three years or whatever.
- 17:28And I really grew a lot.
- 17:30I really grew up a lot.
- 17:31And so I'm more curious in that context,
- 17:36style of questioning and that curiosity
- 17:38about a person of like, you do this.
- 17:41Why do you do that?
- 17:42Why do you think this way?
- 17:44Why is it important for it to be
- 17:45this particular way?
- 17:46You know?
- 17:47And I,
- 17:47and I just give credit to the growth
- 17:49that I've had because I'm a very different
- 17:51person than when we won first got
- 17:54together.
- 17:54And two,
- 17:55when we first started this podcast,
- 17:56because you have to remember this podcast
- 17:58was her idea.
- 17:59And I was very, very, very against it.
- 18:02And I didn't want anything to do with
- 18:04it.
- 18:04But she's my wife.
- 18:05I support her.
- 18:05And we figured out our way.
- 18:07And now I love it.
- 18:09I think it's so fun.
- 18:10We've met so many cool people within this
- 18:12podcast that we never would have met
- 18:14without it.
- 18:15So it's just my own.
- 18:16Now you're doing your own show.
- 18:19I do my own shows now.
- 18:20By yourself.
- 18:22So yeah.
- 18:23I can't do that.
- 18:25I mean, you did with Sam,
- 18:26but that was because I had a family
- 18:28emergency that I had to leave for.
- 18:31And I wasn't able to be here for
- 18:34her.
- 18:34So that was her very first solo show.
- 18:38And only with Sam Briggs.
- 18:43you want to see me die you did
- 18:45watch that one i died during that
- 18:49interview that was the most i was think
- 18:51i was sweating the chair was like wet
- 18:54i was like i just i was a
- 18:56hot mess i couldn't think of any and
- 18:58yes you can laugh at my chair was
- 19:00wet but it was it was she was
- 19:06the lesbian gotta go change my shirt
- 19:09dude i it was i had like a
- 19:10puddle in my sports bra it was oh
- 19:13god that was a day you survived i
- 19:14did i made it have you ever heard
- 19:16my sandberg story no no dude this is
- 19:20great so so i used to go to
- 19:22crossfit polaris which was owned by
- 19:24christy um o'connell um aramo o'connell
- 19:30and whenever like the arnold would go on
- 19:33here which is a big fitness festival um
- 19:36a ton of crossfitters would come in all
- 19:38the rogue athletes and they would come
- 19:40work out with christy um in the afternoon
- 19:44and i would go to the noon class
- 19:46so i was doing the open one year
- 19:47and it was the deadlift burpee workout uh
- 19:50one to ten back down the torturous one
- 19:54yes and so i'd finished my burpees and
- 19:56i'm and i'm up
- 19:58hands on knees.
- 19:59I'm not picking up the barbell.
- 20:01I'm just staring at it.
- 20:03And all of a sudden I have Sam
- 20:04Briggs in my ear going,
- 20:05pick up the damn barbell.
- 20:07It's not going to move itself.
- 20:11I was like, wait, what?
- 20:16I leaned down and picked up the barbell
- 20:18and started moving.
- 20:19Well, when she tells you to move,
- 20:21you better move.
- 20:22I didn't want Sam to yell at me
- 20:23again.
- 20:24Angry British firefighter right here up in
- 20:27your ear.
- 20:27No, thanks.
- 20:28I'm good.
- 20:28I'm going to pick you up.
- 20:30Stop yelling at me.
- 20:31And so after the workout,
- 20:32she came over and she goes,
- 20:33I'm really sorry for yelling at you,
- 20:35but I just knew you had it in
- 20:36you to pick up that barbell.
- 20:37And I was like, okay, I did.
- 20:40You're like, sure, that's fine.
- 20:43I'm really sorry for yelling at you.
- 20:44Are you?
- 20:45No, not at all.
- 20:47Not at all.
- 20:48That's so cool.
- 20:49But I guess when Sam Briggs believes in
- 20:50you, you have to, you can't not,
- 20:53you got to do it.
- 20:54And the truth was I deadlifting that
- 20:57weight was not that heavy.
- 20:58Like I could have done it.
- 21:00I was just being a wuss in the
- 21:02moment and telling myself I was too tired.
- 21:05Burpees suck, man.
- 21:08They just,
- 21:09she would have told me to get down
- 21:10and do a burpee.
- 21:11I may have not have done what she,
- 21:15but I can pick up the barbell.
- 21:16Yes.
- 21:18So how did you two guys fall in
- 21:19love?
- 21:22We met at a holiday Inn in Fort
- 21:24Wayne, Indiana.
- 21:25That's actually accurate.
- 21:30It's actually accurate.
- 21:35I've been in the chat since they started
- 21:36going live.
- 21:38More or less.
- 21:40Yeah,
- 21:40and he used to talk smack to my
- 21:41old co-host, Charlie.
- 21:44Charlie started talking shit to me well
- 21:46before I ever responded.
- 21:49We both know Sweet Charlie.
- 21:51I would wipe the floor with Sweet Charlie.
- 21:54Love that dude.
- 21:55Anyway.
- 21:57And then, yeah.
- 21:58Corey was jealous.
- 22:00Corey was totally jealous.
- 22:01He was like,
- 22:01I would look better sitting next to Scott
- 22:03than Sweet Charlie would look better.
- 22:05Not at all.
- 22:06Not at all.
- 22:06It's actually a slow burn how we got
- 22:08to, like, the show.
- 22:10yeah hundred percent i've just been
- 22:12hanging around um he wore scott down
- 22:16jeremy jeremy was supposed to compete with
- 22:19him at masters fitness collective jeremy
- 22:22got hurt couldn't go i was going up
- 22:26last minute i didn't have any
- 22:28accommodations of course like listen i got
- 22:30an extra room that jeremy can't come you
- 22:33can come hang out so i did we
- 22:37so our first the first time we ever
- 22:38met we roomed together
- 22:40Oh, that's very, that's been a holiday.
- 22:44Yeah.
- 22:44Literally had to holiday in Fort Wayne,
- 22:45Indiana.
- 22:46Holiday makes it even more.
- 22:50Yeah.
- 22:51As Kenneth said,
- 22:52I used to always say that Corey and
- 22:53I met when we slept together.
- 22:54A hundred percent.
- 22:55That's hilarious.
- 22:58And so we hung out that weekend.
- 23:00I actually did a profile on him,
- 23:02a little mini documentary,
- 23:04like a ten minute documentary.
- 23:06Watched him win his first ever event at
- 23:07a big competition.
- 23:08Yeah.
- 23:09uh filmed some of that and then we
- 23:12just started chatting more like out away
- 23:15from the show and then i'm like hey
- 23:17why don't you come on the show once
- 23:18a week and so we had cajun wednesdays
- 23:21he would come on every wednesday and and
- 23:24it just has leaked slowly over time into
- 23:27like now he has his name on the
- 23:29show and you can't that's adorable i love
- 23:33it that's great
- 23:38Jeremy had no intention of setting us up,
- 23:41Jodi.
- 23:41No.
- 23:42No, he did not.
- 23:44How did you like going from the chat
- 23:46to being on screen and having a
- 23:48microphone?
- 23:49I don't know if y'all have figured this
- 23:51out yet or not, but...
- 23:53my wife will tell you right now that
- 23:55i would talk to that wall right there
- 23:57if i thought it would talk to me
- 23:58back so um i spend most of my
- 24:01day talking to people as a insurance
- 24:05person salesman service all that good so
- 24:08like this is extremely natural for me just
- 24:11to be able to own here and god
- 24:13as y'all as anybody will tell you is
- 24:15incredibly easy to talk to
- 24:17get along with, all that stuff,
- 24:19even whenever we do have our separate hot
- 24:21takes that we're fighting about.
- 24:27It's funny to watch because we're not
- 24:28actually fighting.
- 24:29It's mostly just me going, all right,
- 24:30Scott, whatever.
- 24:32We're just kind of moving on from there.
- 24:36uh yeah no i enjoy the shit out
- 24:39of it um i really really do i
- 24:41look forward to my to my hour a
- 24:42day or so you know depending on what
- 24:44we got going on um it keeps me
- 24:48paying attention to actually what's going
- 24:49on in the space and in whatever else
- 24:52we're going we're talking about and plus
- 24:54scott and i have um very eclectic music
- 24:57tastes that kind of align a whole lot
- 24:59and movies and stuff like that so like
- 25:01everything that
- 25:02um you know the obscure movie references
- 25:05that i get scott also ends up getting
- 25:08the obscure music references that i get
- 25:11scott also ends up getting so like a
- 25:13lot of times we'll be laughing just he
- 25:14and i and nobody everybody else is sitting
- 25:16there going the are they laughing at
- 25:18because it's something that we know and
- 25:22they don't necessarily so it's pretty fun
- 25:25And this leads to something I wanted to
- 25:26ask Garrett specifically because she
- 25:30evokes so much emotion in me when I'm
- 25:33going through Instagram and she posts
- 25:35different stories.
- 25:38And it started with, who was better,
- 25:40Stone Cold or The Rock?
- 25:42And then it went into some nineties music
- 25:44reference.
- 25:45And then it went into like the Danny
- 25:49DeVito,
- 25:50Penguin Batman was the greatest one of all
- 25:52time.
- 25:53Oh, you were mad at me.
- 25:54You're so mad at me.
- 25:55And so I just like start typing like...
- 25:57Really hard.
- 26:00Yeah.
- 26:02But, but what I want to,
- 26:03the question I kind of had for you
- 26:05is my favorite shows now with Corey or
- 26:07when CrossFit doesn't even come up.
- 26:10Yeah.
- 26:10I feel like glued to CrossFit all the
- 26:12time because of this show.
- 26:15But when we get into pop culture,
- 26:17like I, it is my favorite day.
- 26:19It's like, I got a mental break.
- 26:21I got a reset.
- 26:24if you guys couldn't do a CrossFit show,
- 26:27what would you want the topic to be?
- 26:30Ooh, that's fun.
- 26:33I can do,
- 26:37I could go into anything pop culture.
- 26:39I like all that.
- 26:39I like, uh,
- 26:40crime documentaries and old school, uh,
- 26:45whatchamacallit,
- 26:45like serial killers and who, like,
- 26:47we can rank them.
- 26:49Like, you know what I mean?
- 26:51Yeah, man.
- 26:53Seriously.
- 26:54Next week on The Glintons,
- 26:55we rank serial killers at the same time.
- 27:00Hey, dude.
- 27:02Most women love the documentaries on
- 27:04Netflix and whatever.
- 27:05Ask Meg.
- 27:05Meg will tell you.
- 27:06We've ranked them before.
- 27:07Does it even count?
- 27:09You know what I mean?
- 27:09It was fun.
- 27:10But I could do music.
- 27:11I can't believe you have not watched Game
- 27:13of Thrones.
- 27:15That was killing me.
- 27:18I'd love to get into that with you.
- 27:20It still blows my mind, dude.
- 27:22Like him not watching Game of Thrones is
- 27:23on the same level as my wife,
- 27:25who is two.
- 27:26So she's yeah,
- 27:27she's two years younger than me and has
- 27:29still never seen the Goonies.
- 27:30Like those two things go together in my
- 27:32head.
- 27:34So why I've not watched Game of Thrones.
- 27:37one like i have this i have weird
- 27:39like rules for myself like he doesn't read
- 27:42books yeah what's funny is someone of my
- 27:47one of my friends is writing a book
- 27:48and they asked me to read it and
- 27:50now like i'm stuck but like i i'm
- 27:56not a big fan of period pieces like
- 28:00i don't like watching movies or tv shows
- 28:02that happen in another time i don't know
- 28:04why
- 28:05That's all I do.
- 28:06She loves them.
- 28:08All I do.
- 28:09But I tried to watch Game of Thrones.
- 28:12And at the time it started,
- 28:14I had like a ten-year-old daughter.
- 28:19And the first couple episodes, I was like,
- 28:21I don't know if I can have this
- 28:23content on in my house with a ten-year-old
- 28:25girl.
- 28:25Not while she's awake.
- 28:27Nope.
- 28:28Yeah.
- 28:29And when you have a ten-year-old daughter,
- 28:31you don't stay up.
- 28:32As soon as you get a chance to
- 28:34go to sleep, you're going to sleep too.
- 28:38And so I tried it two different times.
- 28:41Both times I felt like I cannot do
- 28:45this with a kid in the house.
- 28:46And then I just never went back to
- 28:48it.
- 28:50All of those are so weird, though.
- 28:51Game of Thrones is weird.
- 28:52Outlander is weird.
- 28:55Vikings.
- 28:55They're all weird.
- 28:56That time period is just a weird time
- 28:58period with weird things happening.
- 29:00But I like period pieces, if you will.
- 29:05It's fun.
- 29:07I say it's funny it's funny talking about
- 29:09Game of Thrones I finally got Jennifer to
- 29:12agree to watch it we started off and
- 29:14like she was abhorrent by the second
- 29:16episode she's like they just killed off
- 29:18the main character and I'm like he's not
- 29:19necessarily the main character but I
- 29:21understand where you're coming from we got
- 29:23to the red wedding yep and as it's
- 29:26happening I can see sitting up
- 29:30And I can see the cloud coming over
- 29:32her face.
- 29:34And by the end of the episode,
- 29:36she said, what?
- 29:41What just happened?
- 29:42and i was like that just happened because
- 29:45i had already seen it right so i
- 29:46knew i knew what was coming and uh
- 29:49she refused to watch it for another eight
- 29:52months before she was calm enough to be
- 29:54able to accept the fact that nobody was
- 29:55safe like anybody could die at any given
- 29:58time for no good reason or necessarily
- 30:01whatever we we got up to the red
- 30:04wedding and then i said i didn't get
- 30:06to watch another episode with her anyway
- 30:09for about six to eight months
- 30:11That's how long it was before she
- 30:12recovered.
- 30:15Oh, Coach T. Yeah,
- 30:16the Red Wedding pissed me off too.
- 30:18I was so mad at that.
- 30:19But then I had to watch the next
- 30:21episode when it came out just to see
- 30:22if they could get me back.
- 30:25Yeah.
- 30:25I was okay with it because I'd read
- 30:27enough stuff before I ever started
- 30:29watching it.
- 30:31And people were telling me, hey, man,
- 30:32look, don't get attached to any character.
- 30:35Don't get attached to any character.
- 30:39Joey says,
- 30:39Red Wedding and Battle of the Bastards
- 30:41episodes goaded.
- 30:45Facts.
- 30:45Red Wedding was my last episode for a
- 30:46couple years that I finally finished.
- 30:49Yeah, there you go.
- 30:49It pissed a lot of people off, dude.
- 30:53Did I see the Red Wedding?
- 30:55When she watches shows like this,
- 30:57I kind of will sit down and watch
- 30:59like an episode here or there with her,
- 31:00but I don't sit and watch all of
- 31:02it.
- 31:03So I was wondering if I had seen
- 31:04the Red Wedding.
- 31:04I don't think I know.
- 31:05You haven't seen any of the Game of
- 31:07Thrones.
- 31:07You've now watched House of the Dragon
- 31:09with me, though.
- 31:09You've seen the new one.
- 31:11I don't even know if I actually was
- 31:13watching it with you.
- 31:13I think I was sitting in the same
- 31:14room with you,
- 31:15but it was on while we were there.
- 31:21Because my thing is with some of those
- 31:22shows,
- 31:23it's like they jump around so much that
- 31:25it's like, wait, we just were here.
- 31:27But now we're like twenty steps over here
- 31:29and then we're going to flip it all
- 31:30the way this way.
- 31:31And I'm like,
- 31:32I that's not what I want to watch
- 31:33on TV today.
- 31:34I want something that I can just.
- 31:35Gee, we are married to the same person.
- 31:37You hear me?
- 31:37Because my wife,
- 31:39we've been watching something and like,
- 31:40God forbid,
- 31:41there's flashbacks and shit like that.
- 31:42And yeah, he gets it.
- 31:44It just fucks her all up.
- 31:46Where are we now?
- 31:47Who did this?
- 31:48What just happened?
- 31:49What just happened?
- 31:50I'm over it.
- 31:50No,
- 31:51she makes me watch Love on the Spectrum
- 31:54and all the chef shows.
- 31:56Master Chef, Gordon Ramsay,
- 31:58Everything Chef.
- 32:00Like all that.
- 32:01Do you act like I make you?
- 32:02You don't.
- 32:03You don't.
- 32:03You walk through the living room or the
- 32:05bedroom while I'm watching and then you go
- 32:08promptly do something else with our kid or
- 32:10you go.
- 32:13You take our kid outside.
- 32:14You go do some more work,
- 32:15whatever it is.
- 32:16You're like,
- 32:16I'm just going to go do something else.
- 32:17She'll be like, look,
- 32:18Jesse and Adam just fought for fifteen
- 32:20minutes about a cracker.
- 32:21And I'm like,
- 32:22I don't know what that is.
- 32:26It's so into the chef shows.
- 32:28Can you cook?
- 32:30Yes.
- 32:31See, I like can't really cook.
- 32:35So I consider myself a professional couch
- 32:38chef.
- 32:39So I'll watch all the shows and I'm
- 32:41like, why didn't you add acid?
- 32:43Or this is too sour or whatever.
- 32:45But to ask me to make it like
- 32:47I joke.
- 32:47So we went and saw Megan and Joseph,
- 32:49right?
- 32:49We went to go down to D.C.
- 32:50and and Joseph can cook.
- 32:52And so he made us food the entire
- 32:54time that we were there.
- 32:55And as I was when we were driving
- 32:56home, I was like,
- 32:57my poor wife has to go back to
- 32:59my cooking night.
- 33:03Colleen is living vicariously through
- 33:05every chef show that she's seen.
- 33:09But then you get the vocabulary, right?
- 33:11So my wife's cooking and I'm like,
- 33:13why would you add that?
- 33:14That's not even the same flavor profile.
- 33:17Oh, yeah.
- 33:18Or sous vide, right?
- 33:19The layers of flavor.
- 33:21Yes.
- 33:22Yes.
- 33:22I've been saying that.
- 33:23I use that,
- 33:24and my wife rolls her eyes so hard.
- 33:26The fact that she hasn't pulled one yet
- 33:28is amazing, but I'd be like,
- 33:29she'd be watching me do something.
- 33:31And he's like, why?
- 33:32What are you?
- 33:34I said, I'm layering the flavors in.
- 33:36Corey, you can cook too?
- 33:37Oh, yeah.
- 33:39He brags about it.
- 33:40I've not seen evidence.
- 33:42Okay.
- 33:42So we need evidence.
- 33:43You live in Columbus, Ohio.
- 33:49Come within an hour and a half of
- 33:51here and I will drive to wherever you
- 33:53are.
- 33:54Believe me.
- 33:54I expected in Fort Wayne when I roomed
- 33:57with you.
- 33:58There's a whole lot of cooking going on
- 34:00at the Holiday Inn.
- 34:03I'll warm something up for you on the
- 34:04coffee pot hot plate.
- 34:07He was going to MacGyver layers of flavor
- 34:09with his like one spoon and a straw.
- 34:12I'm convinced when Joseph and Megan come
- 34:15to visit that Joseph's going to bring his
- 34:17own cooking shit.
- 34:18He's not going to trust that I'm going
- 34:20to have anything in the kitchen.
- 34:22And you shouldn't.
- 34:23You shouldn't, Joseph.
- 34:23Don't.
- 34:25So look, you're laughing,
- 34:27but every time I get in an Airbnb
- 34:29to go stay somewhere,
- 34:30to go compete or whatnot,
- 34:32before I go to the grocery store,
- 34:33I go to the Airbnb and see what
- 34:35I might need.
- 34:36Because I'm not making no bullshit food.
- 34:40If I got to eat for a couple
- 34:41of days,
- 34:41we're going to make something just like if
- 34:42I was cooking at the house.
- 34:43So we go to Airbnb first and see,
- 34:45okay,
- 34:45did anybody leave any kind of spices,
- 34:47salt, pepper?
- 34:48Because I've been in some...
- 34:50where I went and picked up just food,
- 34:53got back over there, loaded stuff up,
- 34:55opened cabinets, and there was nothing.
- 34:57Nothing.
- 34:57I'm like, this is some bullshit.
- 35:01I may not be a chef,
- 35:02but I stayed.
- 35:03I cooked at a Holiday Inn Express last
- 35:05night.
- 35:07Cooked what?
- 35:09With what?
- 35:11I'm just kidding.
- 35:11I was like,
- 35:13right now I got to know.
- 35:14Did he have a hot plate?
- 35:16Was there?
- 35:17ACR said,
- 35:18see you cooking at the Holiday Inn.
- 35:19See you cooking at the Holiday Inn.
- 35:21That's what she's talking about.
- 35:22Yeah.
- 35:23That's a good song.
- 35:27Scott, you're in Cleveland.
- 35:28Where's LeBron going?
- 35:31Well, I'm actually a Sixers fan.
- 35:33So I'm hoping he goes to Philadelphia.
- 35:36I'm born and raised Pennsylvania.
- 35:39Where Pennsylvania?
- 35:41Uh, Western side.
- 35:42So in between Pittsburgh and Erie.
- 35:46Um, and I'm actually,
- 35:48my wife and I are looking at retiring
- 35:50back there.
- 35:51Ooh.
- 35:52I'm going to come back over to the
- 35:53East coast.
- 35:54Get those blizzards.
- 35:55What are you doing?
- 35:57Well, I missed the mountains.
- 36:00Um, and I'm,
- 36:03Yeah,
- 36:04the house we're looking at would be in
- 36:05the woods and like a nice place just
- 36:07to kind of get away from it all.
- 36:09And my property taxes here are enormous.
- 36:13Oh, I'm sure.
- 36:14Us too.
- 36:16Yep.
- 36:16Us too.
- 36:17Good old New York.
- 36:18It's insane.
- 36:19It's gotten so bad.
- 36:22So,
- 36:23but where I am close to are the
- 36:25panchecks.
- 36:27Oh, that's cool.
- 36:28I really wanted to go up and interview
- 36:30all four of them live, like...
- 36:33in person.
- 36:34And I may still try to do that
- 36:36after the games.
- 36:37Like after they finish their run and just
- 36:41kind of debrief with them.
- 36:42That would be cool.
- 36:44They're all going, aren't they?
- 36:46Yeah, four.
- 36:47Yeah, four of them.
- 36:49Spencer, Sax.
- 36:51Yeah,
- 36:51Saxon and Spencer used to come to my
- 36:52old gym here all the time because they
- 36:55were good friends with one of the people
- 36:57that, one of the members.
- 36:59And I got to know Sax really well
- 37:01back in the day.
- 37:04Who's going from your team?
- 37:06Is anybody from Clydesdale going to the
- 37:09games?
- 37:10Me.
- 37:11Oh, you are.
- 37:12Me and my photographer, Ishmael.
- 37:15Oh, cool.
- 37:18Technically,
- 37:19Jamie and Carolyn are as well.
- 37:21Jamie and Carolyn are going not through
- 37:24the media realm, but to the Masters games.
- 37:29Well, did you hear on,
- 37:31was it Rich's podcast?
- 37:32Scott was talking about like the media
- 37:35difficulties or whatever.
- 37:36Are you going just to cover the games
- 37:38or are you looking to go to like
- 37:41the adaptives a little bit, the masters?
- 37:44Have you looked into that?
- 37:46So I reached out to CrossFit and asked
- 37:48if my past covered all of that.
- 37:52And they said, no,
- 37:53you have to reach out to each individual
- 37:55entity.
- 37:56And if you watch the show at all,
- 37:58my relationship with Legends has not been
- 38:01the greatest over time.
- 38:04But I did reach out to them and
- 38:05they did grant me a media credential for
- 38:08the Masters Games.
- 38:10I have not done... For now.
- 38:12I've not done Teens or Adaptive.
- 38:17But I may.
- 38:17I don't know.
- 38:21I haven't decided whether I'm going to try
- 38:23to cover that or not.
- 38:24That's a lot of stuff in the same
- 38:26weekend.
- 38:28Especially with twenty events plus team at
- 38:31the arena.
- 38:31That's crazy.
- 38:33Yeah,
- 38:34that we're making Megan Joseph do it.
- 38:35They're the Joseph almost made masters and
- 38:39Megan does CrossFit.
- 38:40So they got enough.
- 38:42They're young still.
- 38:42They can go run around for twenty events.
- 38:44And well,
- 38:45I discovered we may be flying into San
- 38:47Francisco at the exact same time.
- 38:49Oh, that's cool.
- 38:52So I'm trying to catch a lift in
- 38:54their rental car to San Jose.
- 38:57I'm sure they will.
- 38:58Yeah, I'm absolutely sure that they will.
- 39:00we've actually exchanged phone numbers,
- 39:03um, so that we can kind of coordinate.
- 39:05Oh, you're in trouble now.
- 39:06Good luck.
- 39:07You've changed phone numbers.
- 39:08You are in so much trouble now.
- 39:10And I'm trying to get in on some
- 39:13free homemade tacos.
- 39:14There you go.
- 39:15That you want to experience for sure.
- 39:20Yeah.
- 39:22Yeah.
- 39:22Meg's like we big time now.
- 39:27Yeah.
- 39:27I'm excited that they're gonna,
- 39:28they're gonna go and, uh,
- 39:31hopefully interview some athletes and get
- 39:34some behind the scenes stuff and whatever.
- 39:35It's a, it'll be really cool.
- 39:37You guys had such a wild experience at
- 39:39last year's games.
- 39:40Like so cool.
- 39:43Like Gary,
- 39:43you got to do a podcast on the
- 39:45floor.
- 39:46It's so cool.
- 39:46Like I've never had that opportunity.
- 39:50How hard is it for you to miss
- 39:52it this year?
- 39:54Oh, it.
- 39:55Yeah, it's I have a lot of FOMO.
- 39:58I want to go so bad.
- 39:59It's the twentieth games.
- 40:00There's twenty events.
- 40:03Yeah, I would love to go.
- 40:04It just that it's earlier this year.
- 40:08It's just I it's just too busy with
- 40:10the deli.
- 40:11I just can't get away.
- 40:12But yeah,
- 40:13I'm going to live vicariously through Meg
- 40:17and Joseph and just make them go live
- 40:20on their phone so I can just watch
- 40:21it while I'm at work and whatnot.
- 40:25Last year was such an incredible
- 40:27experience and the opportunities that...
- 40:30that seven gave us to be able to,
- 40:32to meet people and talk to people and
- 40:35do the podcast.
- 40:36And yeah, it was, it was crazy fun.
- 40:39Like that's an experience I'll never
- 40:40forget.
- 40:41I'm very grateful for that.
- 40:42That was awesome.
- 40:43That's like a, well, for most of us,
- 40:45that's like a once in a lifetime.
- 40:47Yeah.
- 40:48Yeah.
- 40:49That's why it's facts.
- 40:50I looked at my uncle and I was
- 40:51like, I have to go.
- 40:52I'm sorry.
- 40:52Like I can't,
- 40:53it's a drive away from us.
- 40:54Like we couldn't miss it.
- 40:56You know,
- 40:56we had been talking about possibly trying
- 40:58to go to the games for many years
- 41:00when we drank the Kool-Aid and fell in
- 41:02love with the sport of CrossFit,
- 41:04but taking a big,
- 41:06you know, vacation,
- 41:07I guess you could say during this time
- 41:08is just impossible for her.
- 41:11So when it came up that I was
- 41:13going to be in New York and I
- 41:13was going to be in Albany last year,
- 41:15we were like,
- 41:16we have to make this work.
- 41:17And so I moved all of my work.
- 41:20She told her uncle and like,
- 41:21we're going to be gone for a couple
- 41:22of days and we'll come back.
- 41:24Because the rumors at the time were like
- 41:25the games was going overseas and going to
- 41:28all these where they wanted to take the
- 41:30games.
- 41:30And I was just like,
- 41:31we're never going to get a shot at
- 41:32this again.
- 41:34Overseas to Albany, New York.
- 41:35Yeah, right?
- 41:36I mean, basically, yeah.
- 41:38Same, same.
- 41:40Exactly the same thing.
- 41:42No big deal.
- 41:43So I've told you guys this story.
- 41:44Like,
- 41:44you got me home from Albany that night
- 41:47because you guys were doing, like,
- 41:48a recap of everything you went through
- 41:50that weekend.
- 41:52And I was so exhausted.
- 41:54But you guys made me so excited about
- 41:56everything you had just experienced that
- 41:59it got me home and not falling asleep
- 42:02at the wheel.
- 42:03So...
- 42:05What were,
- 42:05what was your favorite moment from last
- 42:07year's games?
- 42:08Or is it even possible to like pull
- 42:15that out?
- 42:17I think my favorite part of the games
- 42:19was Garrett's reaction when she met Dave.
- 42:23I just think overall,
- 42:24like that was just just as her wife,
- 42:26like knowing how awesome that moment was
- 42:28for her.
- 42:29And the fact that it was on screen
- 42:31and everybody got to see it and you
- 42:33could just see meeting Megan and Joseph.
- 42:37Um, but that was really cool too.
- 42:39I think there's so many moments that I
- 42:40could like take from,
- 42:42you know what I mean?
- 42:42Like, yes,
- 42:43meeting Megan and Joseph was super cool.
- 42:45Meeting all of the people that we have
- 42:48had the chance to talk to, um,
- 42:50meeting Chase, um,
- 42:53Man, it was like rapid fire.
- 42:55It was like Dave, then Boz, then Katie.
- 42:59Katie shook my hand.
- 43:00I don't even know what I said.
- 43:01I think I said I played basketball in
- 43:03college too.
- 43:04I don't even know what I said.
- 43:05I'm pretty sure that's what I said.
- 43:08No idea.
- 43:10You may have played basketball in college.
- 43:12Katie is a legend in Columbus.
- 43:15Her name is in the rafters.
- 43:17I know, I know.
- 43:18With a retired jersey.
- 43:19It is.
- 43:19Yeah,
- 43:19but that's all G could think of was
- 43:21like, I also played basketball in college.
- 43:23I was like, I did.
- 43:24You look like Ricky Bobby trying to give
- 43:26an interview.
- 43:28Hands just kept coming up.
- 43:30I played, I played,
- 43:31I played basketball in college.
- 43:34That's pretty much what it felt like.
- 43:36It was, I was so starstruck.
- 43:38It was crazy.
- 43:39It was, yeah, the whole thing,
- 43:41like watching Tia Toomey do the handstand
- 43:44walk workout.
- 43:44I happened to be on the floor for
- 43:46that.
- 43:46That was the, that was insane.
- 43:49It was just, it was just,
- 43:51if you can go to the games,
- 43:52go to the games.
- 43:53Like it's incredible.
- 43:54Yeah.
- 43:55uh katie l says hey g and this
- 43:57is in the south hampton hall of fame
- 43:59okay scott so i i didn't know that's
- 44:03nothing like what katie is katie is like
- 44:06in a whole state i'm definitely not that
- 44:09But the best experience for my kid was
- 44:13randomly finding my way into the meet and
- 44:16greet line for Rich Froning.
- 44:17And I didn't realize that I was in
- 44:19the line.
- 44:19So as you guys remember,
- 44:21the vendor village,
- 44:22there was a small vendor village right
- 44:24outside of the arena.
- 44:25And then the big one was like a
- 44:27building or so away.
- 44:28So we had gone outside.
- 44:30Garrett had to go back to the podcast
- 44:31and it was just the baby and I.
- 44:33So we went outside to get some air,
- 44:34get away from everybody.
- 44:36And I just...
- 44:37went out and I took the left and
- 44:38kind of walked around.
- 44:40And then as I was walking to take
- 44:41the rest of the circle, I'm like,
- 44:43why are people not moving?
- 44:45And then I look up and I'm like,
- 44:46oh, they're waiting for Mayhem.
- 44:48And I then I kind of saw out
- 44:50of the corner.
- 44:50I was like, oh, my God,
- 44:52Rich Froning is right there.
- 44:53I was like, well, now I'm in line.
- 44:55I have to stay in line.
- 44:56I can't get out of this line.
- 44:58So we go up there and
- 45:01Rich, you know,
- 45:01I've told this story before.
- 45:02Rich just makes you feel like you're the
- 45:04most important person in those two
- 45:06minutes, if that, that he meets you.
- 45:08And the fact that he reached down and
- 45:10shook my kid's hand and made it a
- 45:12point to make him feel important for that
- 45:15moment or whatever.
- 45:17You know, we take a picture.
- 45:18The woman behind me was very nice.
- 45:19I was just going to snap a quick
- 45:20picture with him and little G and get
- 45:22moving.
- 45:22And she was like, no, no, no, no,
- 45:23no.
- 45:23I'll take one.
- 45:24So we took the picture.
- 45:26And then I took about five steps away
- 45:28from him and my knees buckled.
- 45:29And I was like, oh, okay,
- 45:30I'm nervous now.
- 45:31Hold on, let me just look inside.
- 45:34So that was probably like one of those
- 45:37highlight moments for me at the games of
- 45:39meeting Rich Froning and my kid being able
- 45:41to meet Rich.
- 45:44I got to meet Rich in a weird
- 45:45way.
- 45:46I used to do Advocare back in the
- 45:48day and they asked me to speak in
- 45:49an event and Rich happened to be speaking
- 45:52at the same event.
- 45:53And I was like, oh, cool.
- 45:54Maybe I'll finally get to meet Rich
- 45:55Froning.
- 45:56And so I speak.
- 45:58He comes on later and speaks.
- 46:00And then we went back to grab lunch
- 46:03and my wife and I are getting a
- 46:04plate.
- 46:04We come into the eating area and it's
- 46:08packed.
- 46:09And we're walking around looking and Rich
- 46:11goes, hey,
- 46:12there's a couple of seats over here.
- 46:14I thought I was going to drop my
- 46:15plate.
- 46:17You got to sit and have a meal
- 46:18with Rich Froning?
- 46:20We actually got to sit and have lunch
- 46:21with Rich Froning and Hillary.
- 46:23Yeah,
- 46:23that's when you look around and you go,
- 46:26who's he talking to?
- 46:27Is he talking to us?
- 46:29She is one woman that I would love
- 46:32to have the opportunity to talk to.
- 46:34I think the fact that she shared her
- 46:36story, I mean,
- 46:37I know that she's not as public now.
- 46:38She's very much into the private life of
- 46:40her kids and everything like that, but...
- 46:44I remember her in the froning docu movie.
- 46:47You know what I mean?
- 46:48And I just loved hearing her story and
- 46:50how she,
- 46:52they wanted to be parents and her
- 46:56fertility journey and all of that type of
- 46:57stuff, whatever.
- 46:58She's, she's like a lifetime.
- 47:01I would love to have the opportunity to
- 47:03talk to her.
- 47:04That would be really cool.
- 47:06Who do your knees buckle for, Corey?
- 47:09Who do my knees buckle for?
- 47:11I had a very similar experience.
- 47:13When you met me at the Holiday Inn.
- 47:16I had a very similar experience when I
- 47:19met Rich,
- 47:20when he came speak at a church that
- 47:22we were going to at a time.
- 47:23I thought Corey was going to say Will.
- 47:25I was like, Will makes you buckle knees?
- 47:26That's the secret.
- 47:27Not quite.
- 47:32It's the exact same experience that
- 47:34Colleen had.
- 47:34Like,
- 47:35he introduces himself.
- 47:37He shakes your hand.
- 47:38He looks at you like, and that's just,
- 47:42that is very,
- 47:43very telling of how he was brought up
- 47:46and, and whatnot.
- 47:46Cause that's, you know, when you,
- 47:49as a man,
- 47:50when you introduce yourself to someone,
- 47:51you shake their hand, you talk to them,
- 47:53you introduce yourself.
- 47:54If you get their name,
- 47:54you say it back to them, um, uh,
- 47:57type stuff.
- 47:58Um,
- 47:59it was it was surreal it was absolutely
- 48:02it felt surreal i still had the picture
- 48:04of it so it was a men's night
- 48:06and uh got to take a picture with
- 48:09him and whatnot and so uh the church
- 48:13has it's a big metal building so like
- 48:15there's not a whole lot of cell phone
- 48:16service so by the time i got outside
- 48:17the picture i had sent to my wife
- 48:19finally sent and
- 48:22I sent a picture to her of me
- 48:24and Rich and she texted back almost
- 48:26immediately,
- 48:27you can see his abs through his shirt.
- 48:28And I was like, yeah, yeah, you can.
- 48:32Spoken like a true wife.
- 48:34You absolutely can see his abs through his
- 48:36shirt.
- 48:36So that has been a running joke at
- 48:38my house since then.
- 48:39And that was in like.
- 48:41Twenty nineteen or so,
- 48:44something like that,
- 48:44and that's been a running joke pretty much
- 48:46since then is that I'll put on like
- 48:49I get a new shirt or something like
- 48:50that.
- 48:50I was like,
- 48:50you see my abs through my shirt.
- 48:52Is that like a thing?
- 48:53Well,
- 48:53that's what I told Colleen after she told
- 48:55me that story about Rich because I wasn't
- 48:57there for it.
- 48:58And I was like, okay,
- 48:59that's the only man that your knees are
- 49:01allowed to buckle for.
- 49:02Like, I'm okay with it being Rich Bowling.
- 49:05That's fine.
- 49:06After that, no.
- 49:07Sorry.
- 49:09I...
- 49:10i got the chance to meet boz in
- 49:12birmingham that was pretty cool um he is
- 49:15as laid back as he seems it's wild
- 49:18like he's so chill when we got to
- 49:20talk to him on the show he is
- 49:22so cool it is yo he had his
- 49:24gloves on with the cut fingers off yeah
- 49:26so like and he just looked like a
- 49:28mountain man like that had just built a
- 49:31cabin it was insane it was so funny
- 49:33it was so awesome
