- 0:00Speaker 1: Man cheats with Ouija board. I'm like, maybe he was
- 0:04Speaker 1: like with a ghost at night. And that's how the
- 0:06Speaker 1: Ouija board knew. And it was telling her what was
- 0:08Speaker 1: going on.
- 0:09Speaker 2: That could be. That could be. Or if you're like me,
- 0:13Speaker 2: you're thinking sort of more of like in a literal
- 0:17Speaker 2: like American pie type of way.
- 0:21Speaker 1: Oh, like with the planchette hole. God. God.
- 0:26Speaker 2: And at that point, like, what are you really missing
- 0:29Speaker 2: out on?
- 0:30Speaker 1: You know? I'm never looking at a planchette the same.
- 0:33Speaker 1: I'm literally looking at it right now. Oh, my God. Hi, Caitlin.
- 0:40Speaker 2: Hi, Cassie.
- 0:41Speaker 1: Hi, creepy people.
- 0:43Speaker 2: Hello.
- 0:46Speaker 1: This is PNW Haunts and Homicides, where we chat about
- 0:49Speaker 1: true crime, the paranormal, and all things spooky season in
- 0:54Speaker 1: the Pacific Northwest. Or the PNW, if you're nasty.
- 0:59Speaker 2: Last week was particularly nasty.
- 1:02Speaker 1: It was so good that Taylin remembered it. I love that.
- 1:06Speaker 2: I know. She's a good egg.
- 1:08Speaker 1: I know we missed her today. Sorry, guys. She'll be back.
- 1:11Speaker 1: She will be back. She's not gone or anything.
- 1:13Speaker 2: Yeah, we're like, that was just a trial and it
- 1:16Speaker 2: didn't go well.
- 1:17Speaker 1: It didn't work out. We actually fired her. No, no, no. No,
- 1:22Speaker 1: but like us both, she needs a break too. So
- 1:24Speaker 1: that's why there's three of us.
- 1:26Speaker 2: Yeah. Honestly, it's been working out really splendidly so far
- 1:30Speaker 2: for the three of us. So hopefully you guys like it.
- 1:34Speaker 1: And if you don't, too bad.
- 1:36Speaker 2: Suck it.
- 1:37Speaker 1: And we also do tarot in our episodes. And if
- 1:41Speaker 1: you don't like that, you can also suck it.
- 1:44Speaker 2: I mean, or you can just, you know, like you
- 1:47Speaker 2: don't have to listen to that part if you don't
- 1:49Speaker 2: want to, I guess.
- 1:51Speaker 1: But you should. I mean, it's fun.
- 1:52Speaker 2: It does hurt my personal feelings, but that's cool.
- 1:56Speaker 1: I feel like we probably have said it before, but
- 1:59Speaker 1: even if you don't like the tarot or you don't
- 2:01Speaker 1: believe in it or whatever, like, yeah, listening to us
- 2:04Speaker 1: doing it, we still have we still are talking about
- 2:07Speaker 1: things that happened in the episode. And, you know, sometimes
- 2:11Speaker 1: things come up that like we. didn't add in the
- 2:14Speaker 1: notes or something that just like come up through tarot
- 2:17Speaker 1: so you get like a little extra info sometimes so
- 2:20Speaker 1: it's fun.
- 2:20Speaker 2: I know i think about that because i'm like if
- 2:22Speaker 2: there are people that are kind of religiously tuning out
- 2:26Speaker 2: like as we go into the tarot there's probably things
- 2:29Speaker 2: that i was like oh and i remembered this.
- 2:32Speaker 1: And yeah for sure now you'll never know yeah so
- 2:36Speaker 1: oh well Well, anyway, it is like full on spooky season.
- 2:42Speaker 1: This is like literally the last week of spooky season
- 2:45Speaker 1: that this comes out. Yeah. Like, where did the time go?
- 2:48Speaker 2: I don't know. And I had a really great idea
- 2:52Speaker 2: for a costume. And I have to tell you that
- 2:55Speaker 2: I spent hours trying to track down the things that
- 2:58Speaker 2: I needed, like as dupes. Because I wanted to be
- 3:03Speaker 2: the flannel and boot and negligee wearing daughter from Practical Magic.
- 3:11Speaker 2: I was like, yeah, this is everything that I am.
- 3:15Speaker 2: It's like the classy satin negligee. But she pairs it
- 3:19Speaker 2: with boots because, you know, practical footwear is important. And
- 3:23Speaker 2: then the flannel to stay warm.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean, it is called Practical Magic. So.
- 3:28Speaker 2: Right.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Right. Yeah. Yeah.
- 3:31Speaker 2: And the jewelry was on point. I was so close
- 3:34Speaker 2: to really like nailing it. But I was like, hmm.
- 3:37Speaker 1: Okay.
- 3:38Speaker 2: So by the time I source all of this, how
- 3:42Speaker 2: much will I have spent?
- 3:44Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:46Speaker 1: Dang it.
- 3:47Speaker 2: As of yet, I think our only plans may be
- 3:51Speaker 2: handing out candy to trick-or-treaters at Chris's parents' house. So
- 3:57Speaker 2: I don't... I think I can throw on any old
- 4:00Speaker 2: costume I've ever worn before and they won't know the difference.
- 4:04Speaker 1: So that is true. That is true. You don't need
- 4:06Speaker 1: a lot, but it is fun when you find something
- 4:09Speaker 1: that you're like, oh, I just really want to be that,
- 4:12Speaker 1: you know? I know.
- 4:14Speaker 2: Honestly, maybe I will just pick it back up and
- 4:17Speaker 2: do it next year.
- 4:18Speaker 1: Yeah, that's true. You know, maybe you'll like find things
- 4:23Speaker 1: cheaper throughout the year or something.
- 4:25Speaker 2: That's kind of what I'm hoping. I would love to
- 4:27Speaker 2: do that. And I think it'll still be fresh enough
- 4:30Speaker 2: that I could. But we'll see.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Yeah, we'll see what happens. I'm going to be Patrick
- 4:35Speaker 1: Starfish from SpongeBob.
- 4:38Speaker 2: Love that. I am instead going to focus all of
- 4:41Speaker 2: my remaining spooky season energy, I think, on my candle project.
- 4:48Speaker 2: Because I've got all the things I need to be
- 4:51Speaker 2: able to take all of my bits and bobs and
- 4:53Speaker 2: odds and ends of candles and bring them back to life.
- 4:58Speaker 1: I love that. That's so spooky and witchy. Yeah. Okay. So, well,
- 5:04Speaker 1: in honor of spooky season, Halloween season, I've been picking
- 5:09Speaker 1: things that are like, you know, a little demonic and
- 5:12Speaker 1: devilish that you haven't really been here for. I know.
- 5:16Speaker 2: What is going on with that?
- 5:19Speaker 1: I know. Well, I thought it was funny because I
- 5:22Speaker 1: was like trolling you in the episodes like, oh, Caitlin's
- 5:25Speaker 1: not here. She's too scared to like sit in for
- 5:28Speaker 1: these episodes meanwhile this bitch went to like one of
- 5:33Speaker 1: the most haunted places ever that's right that's right and
- 5:39Speaker 1: i brought you back uh something fun and i bought
- 5:44Speaker 1: two tarot decks since i.
- 5:46Speaker 2: Saw you last one of which i bought on the
- 5:49Speaker 2: queen mary yeah.
- 5:51Speaker 1: Isn't that the deck you used for your yeah i
- 5:54Speaker 1: don't It was last time, so. Yeah, I was really
- 5:57Speaker 1: excited to hear about that. I was like, oh my God,
- 6:00Speaker 1: I need to know what happened. I need more stories
- 6:04Speaker 1: for the Queen Mary.
- 6:05Speaker 2: I know, I know. And really only kind of the
- 6:09Speaker 2: one spooky thing happened to us, which I did sort
- 6:13Speaker 2: of like give Taylin the TLDR about, but I was like.
- 6:18Speaker 1: I can wait.
- 6:18Speaker 2: I know, we have to have Chris come on because like, Well,
- 6:23Speaker 2: everybody knows me. I'm scared of everything. And yeah, but
- 6:28Speaker 2: like his description and the fact that like he is
- 6:31Speaker 2: pretty skeptical about all of this stuff. And he made
- 6:34Speaker 2: a face like I don't have an explanation for that.
- 6:37Speaker 2: Like he was freaked out.
- 6:39Speaker 1: Oh, my God. Oh, I'm going to pee myself. I'm
- 6:42Speaker 1: so excited to hear about this. I know. Well, today
- 6:45Speaker 1: we're going to talk about something that's a very Halloween,
- 6:48Speaker 1: very on brand. We're going to talk about Ouija boards.
- 6:53Speaker 2: You're kidding me.
- 6:55Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, do you have a Ouija board story? I mean,
- 6:58Speaker 1: because I was going to ask you if you had one.
- 7:01Speaker 2: I mean, I don't because as you know, I've never
- 7:04Speaker 2: I've never played with that fuckery.
- 7:07Speaker 1: But yeah, I figured you wouldn't.
- 7:08Speaker 2: But OK, I wasn't going to do this because I
- 7:10Speaker 2: wanted you to actually see it.
- 7:12Speaker 1: But OK, hold on. What is happening?
- 7:15Speaker 2: There's more stuff that I want to get. And I'm
- 7:17Speaker 2: pretty sure they gave me a coupon code. on my
- 7:21Speaker 2: receipt at the Queen Mary, but the thing that I
- 7:24Speaker 2: brought back for you.
- 7:25Speaker 1: Is it a Ouija board?
- 7:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:29Speaker 1: Oh my God. Is it like a little keychain Ouija board?
- 7:33Speaker 2: It's a keychain Ouija board and it says the Queen
- 7:36Speaker 2: Mary on it. What? They have. It's literally like going
- 7:41Speaker 2: to a little witchy shop when you go to their
- 7:44Speaker 2: like gift shop downstairs at the end of the tour.
- 7:47Speaker 1: That is crazy. How do you know I was going
- 7:50Speaker 1: to talk about.
- 7:52Speaker 2: I mean, obviously I didn't. And we like haven't recorded
- 7:55Speaker 2: together for a while. And I mean, I had this
- 7:59Speaker 2: when we came home from our trip and you'd been
- 8:01Speaker 2: here with the dogs.
- 8:02Speaker 1: But I totally like We were so fried at that point.
- 8:07Speaker 1: I totally didn't even.
- 8:08Speaker 2: Think about it.
- 8:09Speaker 1: Yeah, no, it was.
- 8:10Speaker 2: It was like, oh, this is ungodly. We were so tired.
- 8:13Speaker 2: But anyways, so that's pretty crazy because I was like,
- 8:18Speaker 2: this is so cute. Honestly, they had actual Ouija boards too.
- 8:26Speaker 2: But I was like, I don't have room for that
- 8:28Speaker 2: in my suitcase.
- 8:29Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. But you wouldn't even use it with me.
- 8:33Speaker 2: No, I would be like, take this home, get it
- 8:35Speaker 2: out of my house right now.
- 8:36Speaker 1: Jesus Christ.
- 8:37Speaker 2: Do not take the plastic off.
- 8:39Speaker 1: Oh, my gosh. You can't take.
- 8:41Speaker 2: The shrink wrap off until you get home.
- 8:45Speaker 1: That's so funny, though. Yeah, maybe I was just channeling
- 8:48Speaker 1: like you because I picked this topic like Wednesday or Thursday. Wow.
- 8:52Speaker 2: Okay, so that was really meant to be.
- 8:56Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. So... That's so cool. Oh, my God. I
- 8:59Speaker 1: can't wait to play with it. Okay. Yeah. Okay. So
- 9:02Speaker 1: I was going to ask you if you had any
- 9:03Speaker 1: Ouija board stories and you don't because you like would never.
- 9:06Speaker 1: And I've had one that I told on the podcast.
- 9:10Speaker 1: I don't even know what episode or anything. So I'll
- 9:12Speaker 1: just kind of recap it for you.
- 9:13Speaker 2: I was going to say, I don't know if I
- 9:16Speaker 2: remember it.
- 9:16Speaker 1: Okay. I'll refresh your memory. So it was Halloween. I
- 9:20Speaker 1: think it was like 2021. We played with a Ouija board.
- 9:24Speaker 1: And like one of the people we were playing with
- 9:27Speaker 1: wasn't like didn't really believe it was kind of just
- 9:29Speaker 1: messing around. It didn't it didn't work. It didn't do anything.
- 9:32Speaker 1: So we kind of just stopped and whatever and left
- 9:35Speaker 1: it out. And then I was like getting ready for bed.
- 9:37Speaker 1: I was in bed. I had brushed my teeth. I
- 9:40Speaker 1: have my water. I had my chapstick. I had like
- 9:42Speaker 1: everything I needed. And I like was in bed going
- 9:46Speaker 1: to sleep. And all of a sudden I was like, oh,
- 9:47Speaker 1: I need to like go downstairs. And I can't remember
- 9:50Speaker 1: what I thought I needed to go downstairs for. But
- 9:52Speaker 1: I like had to go downstairs. And so I got up.
- 9:55Speaker 2: It was summoning you.
- 9:57Speaker 1: I know. So I got up, I got my robe
- 10:00Speaker 1: on and I opened the door to go in the hall.
- 10:03Speaker 1: And I was like, wait, what was I doing? Why
- 10:06Speaker 1: was I going downstairs? I have my water, I have everything.
- 10:11Speaker 1: And I could not remember the reason I needed to
- 10:15Speaker 1: go down there. So I was like, you know what?
- 10:18Speaker 1: I'm not going to go. I think I'm just going
- 10:20Speaker 1: to go back to bed. That's really weird.
- 10:22Speaker 2: Yeah, because there was no reason. I hate that. It's
- 10:26Speaker 2: my least favorite story.
- 10:28Speaker 1: And like, you know, we all do that where we
- 10:29Speaker 1: like walk into a room and you're like, oh, like,
- 10:31Speaker 1: what did I come in here for? But like, legitimately,
- 10:34Speaker 1: I knew there was something I needed. And then all
- 10:36Speaker 1: of a sudden I couldn't remember it. And that's just
- 10:40Speaker 1: in it. Yeah, there was nothing. There was nothing it
- 10:42Speaker 1: could possibly have been that I needed to go down
- 10:45Speaker 1: there for. But so then I go down there in
- 10:48Speaker 1: the morning and we have those like battery powered candles
- 10:51Speaker 1: that you like twist, you know. And so I twisted
- 10:54Speaker 1: them all off, you know, before I went to bed
- 10:56Speaker 1: and didn't see that any of them were on when
- 10:59Speaker 1: I went to bed or anything when I turned off
- 11:00Speaker 1: the lights. And I come down in the morning and
- 11:03Speaker 1: like one of them is on. And I was like, oh,
- 11:07Speaker 1: that's kind of weird. Like, I'm sure it just is,
- 11:10Speaker 1: you know, it's twisted. It could have just. Had that
- 11:14Speaker 1: spark of energy from the battery. I don't know how
- 11:16Speaker 1: that shit works, but it kept happening throughout the day
- 11:20Speaker 1: until I took all the batteries out.
- 11:22Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't like that. I don't like that at all.
- 11:25Speaker 1: Different candles, too, would light up.
- 11:28Speaker 2: No.
- 11:29Speaker 1: So that's my little only Ouija story I have, but
- 11:33Speaker 1: it's kind of fun. Oh, I do remember, too, when
- 11:38Speaker 1: I was putting it away. I put it like in
- 11:41Speaker 1: this it's like a bench seat where I kept all
- 11:44Speaker 1: my Halloween stuff. And so I put it away. And
- 11:47Speaker 1: then for some reason, I was like, oh, I need
- 11:48Speaker 1: to go look in the bench seat for something. I
- 11:50Speaker 1: don't know what I again, I'm like putting away my
- 11:53Speaker 1: Halloween stuff. Why would I need to go and like
- 11:55Speaker 1: look in there for something? And then I opened it
- 11:58Speaker 1: and I couldn't remember what it was. But like the
- 11:59Speaker 1: little planchette was glowing.
- 12:01Speaker 2: No, no. And that's that's that's when just no, no.
- 12:07Speaker 1: And it is like glow in the dark, but you
- 12:09Speaker 1: have to push it down for it to start. And
- 12:11Speaker 1: nothing was on top of it. It was just sitting
- 12:13Speaker 1: on top.
- 12:14Speaker 2: I just I don't like that.
- 12:16Speaker 1: So that's kind of weird.
- 12:17Speaker 2: But I feel like I don't I don't like that.
- 12:22Speaker 1: Nothing ever happened after that. Like nothing, nothing weird and crazy.
- 12:26Speaker 1: That's the only thing.
- 12:27Speaker 2: I mean, that you know of.
- 12:29Speaker 1: Yeah, that's true. I guess I don't live in that
- 12:31Speaker 1: house anymore. Yeah.
- 12:33Speaker 2: Thank goodness. Honestly.
- 12:35Speaker 1: My Ouija board's in storage. It's probably mad at me.
- 12:38Speaker 2: Oh, no.
- 12:38Speaker 1: I wonder how many storage units are haunted, you know?
- 12:40Speaker 1: We need a new, like, storage wars. Like, haunted storage wars.
- 12:46Speaker 2: Oh, God.
- 12:47Speaker 1: No.
- 12:49Speaker 2: I don't have it in me. It's too scary. I
- 12:57Speaker 2: don't like it.
- 12:58Speaker 1: Everyone's weird.
- 12:59Speaker 2: I don't like it at all.
- 13:00Speaker 1: Antique.
- 13:01Speaker 2: And all antiques are kind of weird.
- 13:04Speaker 1: Yes. I think. I think so, too. Pretty, but weird.
- 13:07Speaker 2: Pretty weird, I think, is operative term there.
- 13:12Speaker 1: Keep it pretty weird. All right. So do you want
- 13:17Speaker 1: a little brief history of the Ouija board?
- 13:20Speaker 2: Obviously.
- 13:22Speaker 1: Sometime between 1890 and 91, while they were trying to
- 13:26Speaker 1: get the patent for the Ouija board, It is said
- 13:29Speaker 1: that one of the investors' sister-in-law used the talking board
- 13:33Speaker 1: that they created to ask for a name, and it
- 13:37Speaker 1: spelled out Ouija. Oh. O-U-I-J-A.
- 13:42Speaker 2: Interesting.
- 13:43Speaker 1: They asked the board what it meant, and it said
- 13:45Speaker 1: it meant good luck. So that's what they named the board. Later,
- 13:49Speaker 1: the creators claimed that they came up with the name
- 13:52Speaker 1: by combining the French and German words for yes. Okay.
- 13:56Speaker 1: But I don't think that's as fun. Ja. Well, yeah. Oui.
- 14:01Speaker 2: Ja.
- 14:02Speaker 1: Okay. This brings me to the pronunciation. So there are
- 14:06Speaker 1: like two main ways people say this word, and that's
- 14:10Speaker 1: Ouija or Ouija. Ouija. And they're both in multiple sources
- 14:14Speaker 1: as being like the correct way.
- 14:16Speaker 2: The correct. Okay.
- 14:18Speaker 1: So I'm like, I guess say it however you want.
- 14:20Speaker 1: It doesn't really matter. I think I kind of go
- 14:22Speaker 1: back and forth.
- 14:24Speaker 2: Yeah, I think I do too.
- 14:26Speaker 1: But I'm like, if it's supposed to be a French
- 14:28Speaker 1: and German word, as you claim, kind of as you
- 14:30Speaker 1: were saying, wouldn't it be Ouija or Ouija? Ouija. Yeah.
- 14:35Speaker 1: The German for jaw is pronounced. Yeah. So it would
- 14:39Speaker 1: be Ouija.
- 14:41Speaker 2: Oh, I feel like.
- 14:44Speaker 1: Yeah. OK. Yeah.
- 14:46Speaker 2: Fair enough.
- 14:47Speaker 1: Well, like you're you're this is like a talking to
- 14:50Speaker 1: Spears board. Why wouldn't you want to like perpetuate this
- 14:53Speaker 1: thing that it named itself? Like, that's fucking cool. So
- 14:56Speaker 1: I don't know. Yeah.
- 14:57Speaker 2: Huh?
- 14:59Speaker 1: Yeah. So the U.S. Patent Office only approves things that
- 15:06Speaker 1: operate as advertised, if you didn't know. OK. But it
- 15:11Speaker 1: makes sense.
- 15:12Speaker 2: So, OK, I was going to say, did they just
- 15:15Speaker 2: like get an exception because of the old timiness or
- 15:19Speaker 2: are they claiming that it operates as advertised?
- 15:25Speaker 1: So the patent officer on the case, on the case,
- 15:29Speaker 1: on the case, said that if the board spelled out
- 15:32Speaker 1: his name, it would be proven to work. And that's
- 15:35Speaker 1: something he didn't tell anyone beforehand. Oh. So he was
- 15:40Speaker 1: a bit surprised and spooked when the board did, in fact,
- 15:44Speaker 1: spell out his name, gaining his approval of the patent.
- 15:48Speaker 2: Holy shit.
- 15:49Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 15:49Speaker 2: He's like, OK, I'm sold.
- 15:51Speaker 1: Right. Isn't that kind of cool? And it's like, of course,
- 15:55Speaker 1: I don't know who he was playing it with or
- 15:57Speaker 1: if he was just like doing it himself. If he
- 16:00Speaker 1: was playing with someone, obviously, like they would have known
- 16:02Speaker 1: his name, but it Like not. Right. No one knew
- 16:06Speaker 1: that he was thinking in his head, oh, it needs
- 16:08Speaker 1: to spell out my name.
- 16:10Speaker 2: Right.
- 16:10Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 16:10Speaker 2: They couldn't have known that that was going to be
- 16:13Speaker 2: his requirement. Right.
- 16:15Speaker 1: I mean. Right. I guess maybe a good guess. I
- 16:18Speaker 1: don't know.
- 16:19Speaker 2: Yeah. I guess if you if you were just going
- 16:22Speaker 2: to try to guess at like what he would want
- 16:27Speaker 2: the thing to do. Not a bad guess. Yeah.
- 16:30Speaker 1: But still, it convinced him and he approved the patent.
- 16:34Speaker 1: So what was originally meant to be a game, a
- 16:39Speaker 1: fun date night activity, eventually turned into something evil and dangerous.
- 16:45Speaker 2: I mean, yeah.
- 16:46Speaker 1: So it really was meant to be like kind of
- 16:50Speaker 1: a date thing. Like they used to sit on chairs
- 16:53Speaker 1: facing each other and with like the board on their knees.
- 16:57Speaker 1: So you would be like kind of close. You'd be
- 17:00Speaker 1: like in a dark candlelit room. You could like knock
- 17:03Speaker 1: knees with your sweetie. I don't know about all that.
- 17:08Speaker 1: It's kind of like taking your date to a scary movie,
- 17:10Speaker 1: you know, like you get scared and then you might
- 17:12Speaker 1: have a chance to like, you know, cuddle them, make
- 17:15Speaker 1: them feel better. I guess. You're like, not for me.
- 17:20Speaker 1: Maybe some girls like these weirdos like Cassie over here.
- 17:23Speaker 2: I mean, a little bit. I don't want to sound
- 17:27Speaker 2: too judgy, but yeah, a little bit.
- 17:29Speaker 1: A little bit. I thought it was super interesting, though,
- 17:32Speaker 1: that they used to like place it on their knees
- 17:34Speaker 1: because that's not a steady surface.
- 17:37Speaker 2: Right.
- 17:37Speaker 1: I feel like that would make the planchette maybe move
- 17:41Speaker 1: more than. Yeah. Maybe unintentionally, but it's not a steady surface.
- 17:47Speaker 1: And if you're like shaking or something because you're nervous,
- 17:49Speaker 1: you know. Yeah.
- 17:51Speaker 2: But like, doesn't that make it seem like. So if
- 17:54Speaker 2: it's not stable, doesn't that make it seem like. It
- 17:58Speaker 2: would be that much harder. Like it'd be that much
- 18:00Speaker 2: more obvious to like try to direct it like any
- 18:04Speaker 2: which way.
- 18:05Speaker 1: Maybe. I don't know.
- 18:06Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying?
- 18:07Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 18:08Speaker 2: Like because I feel like you would have to be
- 18:10Speaker 2: really swiping it hard one way or the other.
- 18:13Speaker 1: I don't know. I'm not sure. I think we should
- 18:16Speaker 1: try it. Well, you don't want to try it, but
- 18:18Speaker 1: someone should try it with me. Let's knock knees and...
- 18:23Speaker 1: Do Ouija board.
- 18:25Speaker 2: Like it's a game show. She's like accepting contestants.
- 18:29Speaker 1: Yes, please. But then eventually, in addition to many believing
- 18:34Speaker 1: the boards drove people insane, which we'll talk about a
- 18:37Speaker 1: little bit later. It was about the 70s when it
- 18:42Speaker 1: was in The Exorcist, the movie The Exorcist. And then
- 18:46Speaker 1: like Catholics got involved and it kind of just has
- 18:49Speaker 1: been viewed in a negative light ever since then.
- 18:52Speaker 2: Yeah, that makes sense. They've got sort of a way
- 18:54Speaker 2: of ruining things.
- 18:56Speaker 1: Yes, which makes sense why you're so against it. It's
- 18:59Speaker 1: just like in your veins, you know. In your blood.
- 19:05Speaker 2: Maybe. Maybe a little.
- 19:08Speaker 1: So we're going to talk about some haunted places that
- 19:11Speaker 1: have contacted spirits using Ouija boards.
- 19:14Speaker 2: Okay.
- 19:16Speaker 1: Plunkett Center at Southern Oregon University in Ashland. This is
- 19:20Speaker 1: a colonial revival style home, which we've heard of before.
- 19:24Speaker 2: We sure have.
- 19:26Speaker 1: It's built in 1904. In the 70s, a political science
- 19:31Speaker 1: professor spent the night inside with a campus security guard
- 19:34Speaker 1: and three students to see if they could find any ghosts.
- 19:39Speaker 1: The Ouija board spelled out that one of the students
- 19:42Speaker 1: had tried to unalive themselves. Which they had never told anyone. Oh.
- 19:50Speaker 1: so they were freaked out by that and then all
- 19:52Speaker 1: of a sudden the board shoots up about a foot
- 19:54Speaker 1: and a half and they all ran uh what yeah
- 20:00Speaker 1: so apparently the board like just jumped up in the
- 20:02Speaker 1: air i don't know and they weren't doing it on
- 20:05Speaker 1: their knees i don't think so.
- 20:07Speaker 2: Okay I was going to say, yeah, that's one of
- 20:11Speaker 2: the things that might be easier to do with it
- 20:14Speaker 2: on your knees, I guess.
- 20:15Speaker 1: But damn.
- 20:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 20:18Speaker 1: No, but I think it was on a table and
- 20:19Speaker 1: it just, yeah. So they all ran away and they're like, nope,
- 20:22Speaker 1: we don't care about. I think we found the ghost
- 20:25Speaker 1: and that's that. Bye.
- 20:28Speaker 2: I'm out.
- 20:30Speaker 1: Bye. In Battleground, Washington, at Julio's Coffee and Breakfast, The
- 20:38Speaker 1: manager sees a ghostly woman in blue. And the figure
- 20:42Speaker 1: has even been caught on their surveillance footage. I couldn't
- 20:46Speaker 1: find it, but that's like pretty crazy that you're catching
- 20:50Speaker 1: what you're seeing in real life on your cameras.
- 20:53Speaker 2: Yeah, that feels a little bit. I don't know. Maybe
- 20:57Speaker 2: they're saving that footage. They're trying to monetize it somehow.
- 21:01Speaker 2: That's why he can't find it.
- 21:02Speaker 1: Maybe. I don't know. I don't know. The previous business
- 21:07Speaker 1: was a sports bar and staff reported regular poltergeist activity there.
- 21:13Speaker 2: I mean, I think surprising no one.
- 21:17Speaker 1: The building is only 28 years old, just like Caitlin.
- 21:20Speaker 2: Yeah, of course. The.
- 21:24Speaker 1: But the property is said to have had a brothel
- 21:26Speaker 1: on it in the past.
- 21:28Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. See, that's where we part ways because I've
- 21:32Speaker 2: never had a brothel on me.
- 21:35Speaker 1: But the woman who owned it, her name was Mary.
- 21:38Speaker 1: So it's kind of close to Caitlin. What?
- 21:43Speaker 2: Like Queen Mary, I guess.
- 21:45Speaker 1: It's sort of a through line. Weird coincidence connection. Yeah.
- 21:52Speaker 1: So while paranormally investigating there, I don't know if that's
- 21:55Speaker 1: a thing, but I like how it sounds. Paranormally investigating.
- 21:59Speaker 1: I mean, it kind of sounds like you're the paranormal
- 22:01Speaker 1: thing investigating.
- 22:02Speaker 2: Yeah, it does a little bit. While conducting a paranormal investigation.
- 22:08Speaker 1: Is that? Yeah, sure. While conducting a paranormal investigation there
- 22:13Speaker 1: and using a Ouija board, they have made contact with
- 22:16Speaker 1: Mary and she told them that she wears a blue dress.
- 22:20Speaker 2: Specifically a blue dress.
- 22:22Speaker 1: Yeah, apparently. Allegedly.
- 22:24Speaker 2: Allegedly.
- 22:26Speaker 1: So that's obviously, I mean, if it's to be believed,
- 22:30Speaker 1: the Ouija board that they're seeing Mary walking around in
- 22:33Speaker 1: the blue dress. That's kind of cool.
- 22:34Speaker 2: I like it. That feels like it has a little
- 22:37Speaker 2: more oomph to it, you know?
- 22:39Speaker 1: It's like validation of the Ouija board info and also
- 22:45Speaker 1: what you're seeing, I think, too.
- 22:47Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure.
- 22:48Speaker 1: Next, we're going to the Hasida Head Lighthouse, which is
- 22:51Speaker 1: one of the most haunted places on the Oregon coast.
- 22:56Speaker 1: A group of Lane Community College students used a Ouija
- 22:59Speaker 1: board in the Keeper's house.
- 23:01Speaker 2: Oh, great idea, guys.
- 23:04Speaker 1: Yeah. They got the name Rue in connection to a
- 23:08Speaker 1: well-known entity on the property, the Gray Lady.
- 23:11Speaker 2: Interesting. The Gray Lady.
- 23:13Speaker 1: Yeah. People speculate that she was a keeper's wife who
- 23:17Speaker 1: possibly lost a child on the property. Oh, why she's
- 23:21Speaker 1: still there. Yeah. I know. It's really sad.
- 23:24Speaker 2: It's really sad.
- 23:25Speaker 1: People report seeing her or another elderly woman in the
- 23:29Speaker 1: attic window. Oh, so I don't know. They call her
- 23:33Speaker 1: the gray lady. I don't know if she's old or
- 23:35Speaker 1: she just appears like gray in color. Right. I'm not
- 23:38Speaker 1: sure if like the old woman is the same as
- 23:41Speaker 1: the gray lady i'm not i wasn't clear on that
- 23:44Speaker 1: when i was reading through.
- 23:45Speaker 2: Yeah i wonder i feel like sometimes it seems like
- 23:50Speaker 2: the representation that people see is just kind of i
- 23:54Speaker 2: don't know it's like um almost i i don't want
- 23:58Speaker 2: to say like hologram But like kind of it's like
- 24:01Speaker 2: a little bit whitewashed. It's like pale or you know
- 24:05Speaker 2: what I mean? It looks like an old timey photo.
- 24:08Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what I picture.
- 24:10Speaker 2: Stop me if I'm not making any sense.
- 24:12Speaker 1: No, that's like exactly what I picture. Like a black
- 24:17Speaker 1: and white TV.
- 24:18Speaker 2: Yes.
- 24:19Speaker 1: You know? Yeah. In the 20s, the Oregonian claimed that
- 24:24Speaker 1: the Ouija board was a home essential.
- 24:28Speaker 2: Stop it.
- 24:29Speaker 1: And you can grab your own at downtown's Meijer and
- 24:33Speaker 1: Frank for just 98 cents.
- 24:35Speaker 2: A bargain at any price. I know.
- 24:38Speaker 1: So cute. I think they meant downtown Portland when they
- 24:41Speaker 1: said that.
- 24:41Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 24:41Speaker 1: They just said downtown.
- 24:43Speaker 2: But I mean, we knew what they meant.
- 24:45Speaker 1: Several Portland locals claim to utilize Ouija board messages in
- 24:49Speaker 1: everyday life, like to predict the weather. Which one man
- 24:55Speaker 1: did successfully for years.
- 24:58Speaker 2: Or is this where you tell me that that man
- 25:02Speaker 2: was Matt Sabino?
- 25:03Speaker 1: Oh, my God. That would be so funny. Like local
- 25:09Speaker 1: weatherman uses Ouija board. Just saying.
- 25:12Speaker 2: I don't know. Like, has anyone asked?
- 25:15Speaker 1: I was just thinking, like, it's always raining. So like
- 25:18Speaker 1: the like the weather's not power to protect.
- 25:20Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, that's true.
- 25:23Speaker 1: It reminds me of like what is it like mean
- 25:25Speaker 1: girls where she can her boobs can predict the weather. Yes.
- 25:28Speaker 2: She's like, is that what it is?
- 25:31Speaker 1: Yes. Honestly, I can't remember the exact quote.
- 25:34Speaker 2: For it, but, you know, I don't either.
- 25:37Speaker 1: I feel like you have to look it up.
- 25:39Speaker 2: OK, let me see. OK, so the character is Karen
- 25:45Speaker 2: Smith of none other than the Plastics. And she's like
- 25:54Speaker 2: the dumb one of the group. So she says she
- 25:59Speaker 2: confuses ESP, extrasensory perception, with the sports network ESPN. And OK,
- 26:08Speaker 2: here's the actual quote. I will. OK, here I'll read
- 26:11Speaker 2: this because it makes the rest of the analysis actually funny.
- 26:14Speaker 1: OK.
- 26:15Speaker 2: I'm kind of psychic. I have a fifth sense. It's
- 26:19Speaker 2: like I have ESPN or something. My breasts can always
- 26:22Speaker 2: tell when it's going to rain. Well, they can tell
- 26:26Speaker 2: when it's raining. Like, yeah, no shit, Sherlock. At that point,
- 26:35Speaker 2: everybody can.
- 26:35Speaker 1: Oh, my God. Classic.
- 26:40Speaker 2: Good stuff. Really good stuff there.
- 26:43Speaker 1: Speaking of kind of silly things you might do, um,
- 26:47Speaker 1: You might catch your husband cheating with a Ouija board. What? Apparently,
- 26:52Speaker 1: a woman was using a Ouija board and it was
- 26:54Speaker 1: giving her messages that her husband was cheating on her.
- 26:57Speaker 2: Oh, well, he wasn't cheating with the Ouija board.
- 26:59Speaker 1: No, no, no.
- 27:01Speaker 2: OK.
- 27:01Speaker 1: I don't think so. I was like, maybe he was.
- 27:04Speaker 2: I was like, wow, we're starting to sound like one
- 27:06Speaker 2: of those Reddit podcasts where they make the title of
- 27:09Speaker 2: the story like something really salacious.
- 27:13Speaker 1: Man cheats with Ouija board. I'm like, maybe he was
- 27:17Speaker 1: like with a ghost at night. And that's how the
- 27:19Speaker 1: Ouija board knew. And it was telling her what was
- 27:21Speaker 1: going on.
- 27:22Speaker 2: That could be. That could be.
- 27:23Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 27:24Speaker 2: Or if you're like me, you're thinking sort of more
- 27:28Speaker 2: of like in a literal like American pie type of way.
- 27:32Speaker 1: Oh, like with the planchette hole. God. Yeah.
- 27:39Speaker 2: And at that point, like, what are you really missing
- 27:42Speaker 2: out on?
- 27:42Speaker 1: You know? I'm never looking at a planchette the same.
- 27:46Speaker 1: I'm literally looking at it right now. Oh, my God.
- 27:50Speaker 1: There's got to be one of those, like, sex stories with, like,
- 27:55Speaker 1: inanimate objects that come to life.
- 27:58Speaker 2: Okay, I'm making that a mission. We are going to
- 28:01Speaker 2: find something. There's got to be. There has to be.
- 28:07Speaker 1: There has to be. I just read one that's called Halloween.
- 28:11Speaker 1: And it was about pumpkin men. Oh. And a candy man. Oh, boy.
- 28:15Speaker 1: It's pretty fun.
- 28:18Speaker 2: That's interesting.
- 28:21Speaker 1: I know. It's a good Halloween read. Halloween. Halloween. Okay. Also,
- 28:26Speaker 1: eight divorces were filed in Multnomah County due to Ouija
- 28:31Speaker 1: board messages.
- 28:32Speaker 2: Stop it.
- 28:33Speaker 1: I don't know if it was telling people to, like,
- 28:35Speaker 1: leave their spouse or if it was, like, revealing lies
- 28:39Speaker 1: or we're cheating or something like that, but.
- 28:41Speaker 2: I have so many questions.
- 28:44Speaker 1: Me too. Many other locals were said to have gone
- 28:47Speaker 1: mad from using the Ouija board. A woman trying to
- 28:51Speaker 1: contact her missing son... Oh, God. Yeah. I know. I
- 28:56Speaker 1: know that was really sad. Yeah.
- 28:59Speaker 2: I mean, that feels very real.
- 29:01Speaker 1: I would probably try that too, you know?
- 29:04Speaker 2: You're going to try everything. If you have a missing child,
- 29:07Speaker 2: you're pretty much willing to give anything a shot.
- 29:10Speaker 1: It's sad to say too, but I'm thinking like, and
- 29:13Speaker 1: they say go mad. This is like kind of old timey.
- 29:16Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 29:17Speaker 1: Was she just like really... Depressed. Just distraught and devastated
- 29:21Speaker 1: like over losing someone and like going through grief?
- 29:26Speaker 2: No, Cassie, she's hysterical.
- 29:28Speaker 1: It's demons.
- 29:30Speaker 2: Oh, that's so heartbreaking.
- 29:32Speaker 1: Yeah. A man who used the board for business advice.
- 29:38Speaker 2: Oh, boy.
- 29:39Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 29:40Speaker 2: Don't tell me. Were his initials RR by any chance?
- 29:46Speaker 1: I don't know. No, I don't. It didn't say specifically
- 29:50Speaker 1: who it was, but he did end up kind of
- 29:53Speaker 1: going insane after trying to use the board for getting
- 29:57Speaker 1: some advice.
- 29:58Speaker 2: Well, that makes sense.
- 30:00Speaker 1: And even retired boxer Sharky Martin, who had been using
- 30:04Speaker 1: a DIY Ouija board and developed an obsession, an unhealthy
- 30:09Speaker 1: obsession with it.
- 30:11Speaker 2: Well, and listen, I don't think that the corporations that
- 30:16Speaker 2: currently produce the boards are doing anything special to like
- 30:20Speaker 2: protect us. But DIY with something like this makes me
- 30:23Speaker 2: a little nervous.
- 30:25Speaker 1: I don't know why. You could just make your own
- 30:27Speaker 1: Ouija board, like talking board. It doesn't have to be bought.
- 30:30Speaker 2: I don't really trust that. I'm not going to lie.
- 30:35Speaker 1: Well, it kind of gets worse. So he was arrested
- 30:38Speaker 1: in North Bend, Oregon. on insanity charges, which I didn't
- 30:42Speaker 1: really know was like a thing. But maybe back in
- 30:45Speaker 1: the day. I don't know. Maybe back in the day.
- 30:48Speaker 1: When was that? I don't remember a specific date on these,
- 30:52Speaker 1: but I think these were all before the 70s.
- 30:56Speaker 2: Oh, then. Yeah. I mean, they could just arrest you
- 30:58Speaker 2: for a lot of things that like probably wouldn't fly today.
- 31:03Speaker 1: Yeah. But I think he was just kind of like
- 31:05Speaker 1: acting out and acting maybe in a way that would
- 31:08Speaker 1: make them think he could like harm people or himself.
- 31:12Speaker 2: Yeah, that's why they just have, I think, probably like
- 31:17Speaker 2: slightly more PC ways of saying kind of the same
- 31:21Speaker 2: thing now, like, you know, disturbing the peace inside. Yeah, like,
- 31:25Speaker 2: you know, they're not just going to be like, The
- 31:28Speaker 2: guy went insane, so we charged him with insanity.
- 31:31Speaker 1: He's crazy.
- 31:33Speaker 2: First of all, the last person on Earth that should
- 31:36Speaker 2: be necessarily, like, making that sort of a distinction or
- 31:41Speaker 2: diagnosis is your average patrol cop. Like, I'm sorry, sir.
- 31:49Speaker 2: You might be qualified at the shooting range, but you
- 31:52Speaker 2: are not qualified for this.
- 31:53Speaker 1: Yeah. A psychiatrist declared the Ouija board, quote, nothing more
- 31:59Speaker 1: than a mental murder, which is like fucking intense, dude.
- 32:04Speaker 2: That's that feels like a lot.
- 32:09Speaker 1: But I guess if you're looking at these cases of
- 32:11Speaker 1: people apparently like going crazy from using it, maybe maybe
- 32:16Speaker 1: you would say that.
- 32:17Speaker 2: Yeah, it does start to feel like, OK, this is
- 32:20Speaker 2: kind of a dangerous contraption, but like.
- 32:23Speaker 1: Is it the board or is it the people, you know? Right.
- 32:27Speaker 2: Yes. I do think that's an important distinction. And then also, like,
- 32:31Speaker 2: maybe we don't call it like maybe maybe not murder.
- 32:35Speaker 2: Like maybe we don't murder. Like, it feels like we
- 32:39Speaker 2: kind of went zero to 60. And it just feels
- 32:43Speaker 2: like that's a little bit of a lot. Yeah, that
- 32:45Speaker 2: makes sense.
- 32:46Speaker 1: It's so dramatic.
- 32:49Speaker 2: Yeah, a little bit, a little bit.
- 32:52Speaker 1: Dr. J. Allen Gilbert of the University of Oregon Metal School.
- 32:57Speaker 1: Metal School.
- 32:58Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 32:59Speaker 1: Rock on, man. Oh, my God.
- 33:03Speaker 2: That's incredible.
- 33:05Speaker 1: Of the University of Oregon Medical School, now OHSU, said
- 33:11Speaker 1: after his research, quote, the answers you get from a
- 33:15Speaker 1: Ouija are but the embodiment of subconscious state. The Ouija
- 33:20Speaker 1: furnishes the valuable method of tapping the subconscious. Oh. I'm like, man,
- 33:26Speaker 1: these people got some fluffy language.
- 33:29Speaker 2: Yeah, that feels a little intense.
- 33:32Speaker 1: It furnishes the valuable method of tapping the subconscious.
- 33:38Speaker 2: Okay. Again, sir, I hate to sound like a broken record,
- 33:44Speaker 2: but maybe we just take it down a notch.
- 33:48Speaker 1: They gotta sound smart. They're doctors and shit. So he
- 33:51Speaker 1: basically thinks that people who can easily meditate or dissociate
- 33:55Speaker 1: can cause you to like subconsciously move the planchette to
- 33:59Speaker 1: the answer that you're asking, basically. Not that you're really
- 34:04Speaker 1: doing it on purpose, but you're just so open. You're
- 34:06Speaker 1: in like a meditative state. But I'm like, so where
- 34:11Speaker 1: are the answers coming from, though? If you're like dissociated,
- 34:15Speaker 1: you're in a meditative state. Are they actually coming from you?
- 34:18Speaker 1: Or is something in your mind like telling you the
- 34:20Speaker 1: answer and then you're moving the planchette to get the answer? Hmm.
- 34:26Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know.
- 34:28Speaker 1: I think that's kind of how it works. I don't
- 34:30Speaker 1: think something's like actually moving, physically moving your fingers or
- 34:35Speaker 1: the little planchette. I think it's like something is coming
- 34:38Speaker 1: into your brain and telling you the answer, but you
- 34:41Speaker 1: just don't know.
- 34:42Speaker 2: Interesting.
- 34:44Speaker 1: Yeah, that's how I think.
- 34:45Speaker 2: I could see that.
- 34:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 34:48Speaker 2: OK, OK, I'm coming around. I think maybe maybe a little.
- 34:52Speaker 1: It still doesn't mean it's like not something potentially evil
- 34:56Speaker 1: that could be giving you like these answers and stuff.
- 34:58Speaker 2: Right. And that's what concerns me. I feel.
- 35:01Speaker 1: Yeah, I think that is the big concern is that
- 35:04Speaker 1: like if you're opening up to the other side, there's
- 35:06Speaker 1: good and there's evil, just like there is. And on
- 35:08Speaker 1: this side.
- 35:10Speaker 2: Right. All over the place. It just be just people
- 35:13Speaker 2: be evil in, you know.
- 35:15Speaker 1: They got to stop that.
- 35:16Speaker 2: Yeah. Like if you could just.
- 35:19Speaker 1: Sounds like a lot of work.
- 35:21Speaker 2: Yeah, it does. It just feels like a lot. And
- 35:25Speaker 2: we just kind of wish you wouldn't.
- 35:27Speaker 1: You need to calm down. Being too loud.
- 35:29Speaker 2: A little bit. I was like, I know exactly where
- 35:34Speaker 2: this is going. I'm like, I'm letting you run with that.
- 35:36Speaker 1: I'm done. I'm done. I'm done. Okay, we're moving on
- 35:41Speaker 1: to El Cerrito, California. Okay. In 1920, a woman who
- 35:48Speaker 1: had lost her daughter in a hit and run had
- 35:51Speaker 1: six people with her using a Ouija board inside their
- 35:54Speaker 1: house trying to find out who had killed her daughter.
- 35:58Speaker 2: Oh, my God.
- 36:01Speaker 1: They were pulling all-nighters for weeks attempting to make contact
- 36:05Speaker 1: with the other side. Oh, God. Until finally, they feared
- 36:10Speaker 1: they had let in evil spirits instead of helpful ones.
- 36:14Speaker 2: Oh.
- 36:14Speaker 1: And then they started acting really strange and conducting rituals
- 36:18Speaker 1: to try and get rid of the evil spirits. And
- 36:21Speaker 1: they believed they were affecting their other children as well.
- 36:25Speaker 2: Well, yeah, I mean, if nothing else, they're just seeing
- 36:29Speaker 2: how deeply entrenched that their family is becoming.
- 36:35Speaker 1: Yeah, that would definitely affect you, for sure.
- 36:39Speaker 2: Oh, no.
- 36:41Speaker 1: Eventually, the police were called and they arrested the seven
- 36:44Speaker 1: seancers on charges of insanity, again. Cool. And being a
- 36:50Speaker 1: threat to themselves and others. I mean... And yeah, this
- 36:53Speaker 1: was the 20s, so... This caused the people in town
- 36:57Speaker 1: to call for a ban on Ouija boards.
- 37:00Speaker 2: Oh, my God. What is this?
- 37:02Speaker 1: Footloose? Yeah, exactly. I don't think it ever like really
- 37:06Speaker 1: went anywhere.
- 37:06Speaker 2: I think those type of things typically don't because it's
- 37:10Speaker 2: like you can only control what happens in private homes
- 37:14Speaker 2: so much. Right.
- 37:16Speaker 1: I mean. Right.
- 37:17Speaker 2: So far.
- 37:18Speaker 1: I mean, you could try to ban them in specific
- 37:20Speaker 1: places like.
- 37:22Speaker 2: Right. Right. No public gatherings.
- 37:25Speaker 1: Well, this is a public place, actually. So an unofficial
- 37:29Speaker 1: sign was posted on Fox 12's Facebook page stating that
- 37:33Speaker 1: Ouija boards are banned from Fern Hill Park. Oh, asking
- 37:38Speaker 1: what do you think the event was? So they took
- 37:41Speaker 1: a picture of this notice up at Fern Hill Park
- 37:45Speaker 1: that was saying that Ouija boards were banned. And so
- 37:48Speaker 1: they're asking people, like, why do you think this is?
- 37:50Speaker 1: Because there is no other information. Yeah.
- 37:53Speaker 2: Like, I feel like we need a little bit of explanation.
- 37:56Speaker 1: Like, I feel like what? What happened?
- 37:59Speaker 2: Like, shouldn't there be like some sort of a public forum? Like,
- 38:02Speaker 2: people should be able to comment. And like, yeah, I
- 38:05Speaker 2: don't know. That just seems weird to just unilaterally decide, like.
- 38:10Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 38:10Speaker 2: Seems sus.
- 38:11Speaker 1: And like, how are you going to enforce that, too?
- 38:13Speaker 1: I guess if you're if a park ranger or policeman
- 38:16Speaker 1: comes by, like, I don't know.
- 38:18Speaker 2: I guess anybody who's like becoming a nuisance.
- 38:22Speaker 1: Like a hall monitor. Right.
- 38:27Speaker 2: Nerds.
- 38:29Speaker 1: One commenter posted that they had overheard kids going through
- 38:33Speaker 1: demonic possession at the park, so they weren't really surprised
- 38:36Speaker 1: by the new signage.
- 38:39Speaker 2: OK, first of all, I need you to explain exactly
- 38:44Speaker 2: how it is that you know that that's what's happening.
- 38:49Speaker 1: Exactly. Like what? What were you hearing? He said he
- 38:54Speaker 1: heard them all night long. Yeah.
- 38:57Speaker 2: About that.
- 38:59Speaker 1: Were they partying? I think they were probably just partying,
- 39:02Speaker 1: you know, going crazy, doing it in the woods.
- 39:05Speaker 2: They're partying. Teenagers do. Yeah. Like it's 1999 or whatever.
- 39:10Speaker 1: Yeah. So this was posted in 2024. And I was
- 39:15Speaker 1: like kind of wondering if the sign was still there. Like,
- 39:17Speaker 1: are they still banned? Are they still having issues with
- 39:20Speaker 1: people using them in the park? I don't know.
- 39:22Speaker 2: Oh, I'm so curious.
- 39:26Speaker 1: I don't know where fernhill park is we should go
- 39:28Speaker 1: there and figure it out maybe i should look.
- 39:31Speaker 2: Yeah i was gonna say where i don't know where
- 39:33Speaker 2: that is either but surely we could find out it's
- 39:37Speaker 2: in portland yeah that just seems like in the city
- 39:41Speaker 2: of portland you really think that you can implement that
- 39:44Speaker 2: good luck.
- 39:45Speaker 1: It's not particularly like wooded either. So I'm interested where
- 39:49Speaker 1: they're doing like these Ouija board seances and what's going on.
- 39:55Speaker 1: It's just got like a little playground and some nice
- 39:57Speaker 1: grassy field area.
- 39:59Speaker 2: Very interesting.
- 40:01Speaker 1: Makes me wonder if people like had candles or something
- 40:04Speaker 1: or if there was like some sort of fire hazard or.
- 40:08Speaker 2: Oh, sure. Like something else that's like very obviously.
- 40:12Speaker 1: Dangerous, maybe. People getting rowdy.
- 40:15Speaker 2: I could see that.
- 40:16Speaker 1: I know they did ban Ouija boards at like the
- 40:20Speaker 1: Lizzie Borden house. I'm pretty sure it was.
- 40:22Speaker 2: Really?
- 40:24Speaker 1: Yeah, I've heard of like people staying there and they
- 40:28Speaker 1: like had banned Ouija boards or something like that.
- 40:32Speaker 2: People just can't handle it.
- 40:34Speaker 1: Yeah. They just keep opening more demonic things in the
- 40:38Speaker 1: house and not closing it out. I guess. Maybe. All right. Well,
- 40:45Speaker 1: do you want some more murder?
- 40:47Speaker 2: Murder.
- 40:48Speaker 1: So this gets pretty intense. Okay. In 1933 in Arizona,
- 40:54Speaker 1: Maddie Turley, a 15-year-old girl, and her mother were allegedly
- 40:58Speaker 1: doing a seance with a Ouija board. And the board
- 41:01Speaker 1: spelled out that Maddie should kill her father, Ernest. Oh, shit.
- 41:06Speaker 1: So that her mother could marry a handsome young cowboy.
- 41:10Speaker 2: I mean... Just leave him!
- 41:13Speaker 1: Marry the cowboy! Just leave him!
- 41:16Speaker 2: Maybe just go.
- 41:19Speaker 1: I don't know. It was 1933. I understand it's hard
- 41:21Speaker 1: to leave people, especially then.
- 41:23Speaker 2: I mean, yeah.
- 41:24Speaker 1: But you don't need to go killing people about it.
- 41:26Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 41:27Speaker 2: You may have kind of had to kill him to
- 41:31Speaker 2: get out. I hate to say that because I don't
- 41:35Speaker 2: want to seem like I'm like justifying it. But at
- 41:39Speaker 2: the same time, I mean, in 1933. Yeah. Yeah.
- 41:45Speaker 1: Just run away with the cowboy. I guess you probably
- 41:49Speaker 1: would want to have your daughter with you.
- 41:51Speaker 2: Right.
- 41:52Speaker 1: There's a lot that goes into that. Who knows if
- 41:55Speaker 1: the cowboy can take care of you? He's young. Right.
- 42:00Speaker 1: So Maddie claimed her mother encouraged her to do what
- 42:03Speaker 1: the board said. So she shot her father twice in
- 42:07Speaker 1: the back and he passed away about six weeks later
- 42:10Speaker 1: in the hospital. Maddie pled guilty to attempted murder and
- 42:15Speaker 1: And I was like, but wait, he died. So why
- 42:17Speaker 1: was it attempted murder? But maybe because she was pleading guilty? Yeah.
- 42:22Speaker 2: Maybe she got her plea in at the right time
- 42:24Speaker 2: so that she would get a lesser charge. I don't know.
- 42:29Speaker 1: I was kind of confused about that part. I wanted
- 42:31Speaker 1: like an opinion on that because I had no idea.
- 42:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 42:34Speaker 1: Because he definitely died.
- 42:36Speaker 2: It's possible that she negotiated for a deal so that, like,
- 42:41Speaker 2: even if he did end up dying, that, like.
- 42:44Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, maybe because it was in between the six weeks.
- 42:47Speaker 2: Like, maybe he was still alive. That's my thinking. I
- 42:51Speaker 2: don't know that that's the case, but.
- 42:54Speaker 1: Interesting. Yeah. But she was sentenced to the state school
- 42:59Speaker 1: for girls at Randolph. I assume that's like a girl's prison,
- 43:03Speaker 1: like for younger girls. I don't think it's like an
- 43:06Speaker 1: asylum or something, you know?
- 43:08Speaker 2: Yeah. I don't think it bodes well for her, I
- 43:12Speaker 2: will say. Right.
- 43:13Speaker 1: I don't think it's going to be a great experience.
- 43:16Speaker 2: No.
- 43:17Speaker 1: Her mother, Dorothea, was charged with assault with the intent
- 43:22Speaker 1: to commit murder. But she insisted that she was innocent.
- 43:26Speaker 1: And Maddie had shot Ernest because she didn't like how
- 43:29Speaker 1: strict he was.
- 43:30Speaker 2: I mean, and maybe that's fair. I don't really know.
- 43:34Speaker 1: We don't know their life, really. It's like she said
- 43:37Speaker 1: she said.
- 43:38Speaker 2: Right. Right.
- 43:40Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 43:40Speaker 2: He's kind of not here to defend himself.
- 43:43Speaker 1: And I don't even know if like he was conscious
- 43:46Speaker 1: in the hospital to even like give any testimony or
- 43:49Speaker 1: like he he might not even know why. Like, you know,
- 43:53Speaker 1: he was just shot. It's not necessarily like he would
- 43:55Speaker 1: know why his daughter did it. They already have who
- 43:57Speaker 1: did it.
- 43:58Speaker 2: Right. Right.
- 44:00Speaker 1: Based mostly on Maddie's testimony, Dorothea was convicted and sentenced
- 44:05Speaker 1: to 10 to 25 years in prison. But three years later,
- 44:08Speaker 1: the charges were dismissed. The Supreme Court of Arizona ruling
- 44:13Speaker 1: that the trial had been prejudicial when they refused to
- 44:18Speaker 1: admit evidence against Maddie's character. So basically, Maddie was the
- 44:24Speaker 1: only evidence against her mother, but they wouldn't allow evidence against, like,
- 44:29Speaker 1: her character, what she was saying.
- 44:32Speaker 2: That's something that comes up a lot in criminal cases
- 44:35Speaker 2: where they're like, this is the other potential suspect or perpetrator.
- 44:40Speaker 2: But they're like, but we can't let you... I don't know,
- 44:43Speaker 2: defame this individual in court proceedings.
- 44:47Speaker 1: But they're like defaming you. And that's the only evidence.
- 44:51Speaker 2: Right. And you're like, can we hear evidence against like
- 44:54Speaker 2: the other guy or?
- 44:56Speaker 1: Yeah. So it wasn't fair. I don't know what exactly
- 45:00Speaker 1: the evidence was, but I did find this and I
- 45:04Speaker 1: don't know if it was part of the trial or not.
- 45:07Speaker 1: But Maddie did initially tell police that she had been
- 45:10Speaker 1: trying to shoot a skunk and tripped and accidentally shot
- 45:13Speaker 1: her father.
- 45:14Speaker 2: OK, well, that that I don't I don't know how
- 45:18Speaker 2: much that helps either one of them, because. Like, first
- 45:22Speaker 2: of all, I just don't think anyone believes you about that.
- 45:27Speaker 1: I just tripped over my gun and shot my dad
- 45:30Speaker 1: twice in the back.
- 45:32Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm going to go with, I think, no.
- 45:35Speaker 1: Obviously, you could say she said this, like, alternate story.
- 45:40Speaker 1: Maybe she was trying to protect her mother at first
- 45:42Speaker 1: if her claims that Dorothea's involvement were true. Or you
- 45:47Speaker 1: could say she's just, like, a liar. Like, her story changed, so...
- 45:51Speaker 1: I don't know. It could go either way.
- 45:53Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that that seems fair. Like you could
- 45:57Speaker 2: spin that kind of two ways.
- 45:59Speaker 1: But only one of them was ultimately found guilty for
- 46:03Speaker 1: the crimes. In July 2026 in Moses Lake, Washington. Shut up.
- 46:11Speaker 2: That's where we got Charlotte.
- 46:12Speaker 1: Oh, interesting. When did you get her? Like what month?
- 46:15Speaker 1: I can't remember.
- 46:16Speaker 2: We went and picked her up at the end of February.
- 46:20Speaker 1: Oh, OK. So this is after that. So you're safe.
- 46:23Speaker 2: Yeah. OK. No, I'm just like, oh, I'm feeling very
- 46:27Speaker 2: personally connected.
- 46:29Speaker 1: So the Moses Lake Police Department posted about a woman
- 46:33Speaker 1: being caught committing a crime in kind of a spooky way. What?
- 46:39Speaker 1: So she had broken into a vehicle and stole the stereo,
- 46:43Speaker 1: some keys, some prescription medication. Oh, boy. Some other items,
- 46:48Speaker 1: including a Ouija board.
- 46:50Speaker 2: Oh, my God.
- 46:54Speaker 1: And coincidentally or not, an officer had just happened to
- 46:58Speaker 1: come across a woman who had a Ouija board in
- 47:01Speaker 1: one of her bags earlier that day. He didn't really
- 47:04Speaker 1: think anything of it other than it was kind of
- 47:07Speaker 1: weird that someone's like just carry around a Ouija board
- 47:10Speaker 1: in July.
- 47:10Speaker 2: You just travel with it or.
- 47:13Speaker 1: It's kind of weird, but whatever. Yeah. But after he
- 47:17Speaker 1: heard of the items that were stolen from the car
- 47:21Speaker 1: later that day, he was able to find her again.
- 47:24Speaker 1: And after attempting to run away, she was arrested with
- 47:29Speaker 1: the Ouija board still in her possession and all the
- 47:32Speaker 1: other shit she stole. Of course. And it was returned
- 47:35Speaker 1: to its rightful owner.
- 47:36Speaker 2: Aww. Aww.
- 47:37Speaker 1: So I don't know if the Ouija board like had
- 47:39Speaker 1: any part in that getting itself seen by a policeman
- 47:42Speaker 1: earlier that day. It's just kind of interesting.
- 47:44Speaker 2: Just saying. It doesn't seem like the type of thing
- 47:48Speaker 2: that you should steal.
- 47:49Speaker 1: Right? Yeah. Like that seems like bad luck coming your way.
- 47:53Speaker 2: Probably don't steal anything like car stereo. Super not cool.
- 47:59Speaker 2: Prescription medication.
- 48:01Speaker 1: Please don't.
- 48:02Speaker 2: Wildly not not cool.
- 48:04Speaker 1: We need that at all.
- 48:05Speaker 2: But we Ouija board.
- 48:07Speaker 1: Like nothing good could come out of that.
- 48:10Speaker 2: I just feel as though you are painting a target
- 48:12Speaker 2: on your back for karma.
- 48:14Speaker 1: Yeah. Especially if you're going to steal something that's like
- 48:17Speaker 1: kind of noticeable and then just carry it around with you.
- 48:21Speaker 2: Right. I don't think that it speaks to like a
- 48:27Speaker 2: high caliber of criminal. I hardly would say she's a professional. Yeah.
- 48:35Speaker 1: Maybe it was her first time. I don't know.
- 48:37Speaker 2: If you sell a Ouija board like full retail, like
- 48:41Speaker 2: they can't be worth more than like 30, 40 bucks,
- 48:44Speaker 2: like brand new in the box. So what are you doing?
- 48:48Speaker 1: It was like a super unique, like vintage. I don't know.
- 48:52Speaker 1: But don't do that because I feel like if maybe
- 48:54Speaker 1: if you would have kept it, she would have had
- 48:55Speaker 1: some demons coming after her or something. We don't know. Right.
- 48:59Speaker 2: That's OK. So that's That's what I'm saying is like
- 49:02Speaker 2: if you're stealing a Ouija board, like you have no
- 49:05Speaker 2: idea what kind of energy is already like all up
- 49:09Speaker 2: in there.
- 49:09Speaker 1: Yeah. And is it going to be pissed that you
- 49:11Speaker 1: like took it from its owner?
- 49:13Speaker 2: I mean, I have to imagine.
- 49:17Speaker 1: I think the Ouija board spirits got her caught. I
- 49:20Speaker 1: definitely think that's what happened. I'm going with that.
- 49:23Speaker 2: It kind of feels like it, doesn't it?
- 49:25Speaker 1: Yes. All right, I got one last kooky story for you. Okay.
- 49:31Speaker 1: In Spokane, Washington in 1982, Judy Layden claimed to be
- 49:36Speaker 1: communicating with a spirit from the Sixth Realm. Named Af.
- 49:41Speaker 1: Just A-F.
- 49:44Speaker 2: Okay. And what is the sixth realm, pray tell?
- 49:51Speaker 1: I don't know. Oh, okay.
- 49:54Speaker 2: Okay, so we're on the same page there.
- 49:56Speaker 1: I don't know. Different dimension. I don't know. I'm not
- 50:00Speaker 1: really sure, but he's from the sixth one, whichever there
- 50:04Speaker 1: was an evil realm.
- 50:05Speaker 2: If we're equally confused, that's fine. Okay.
- 50:09Speaker 1: They chatted on the Ouija board about anything from the
- 50:12Speaker 1: afterlife to the economy. Even about the fate of Hitler's
- 50:16Speaker 1: spirit in the movie E.T., which he did not give
- 50:19Speaker 1: great reviews to. Not Hitler, but Aff. Oh, OK.
- 50:23Speaker 2: Yeah. I was like, nobody really cares. Nobody cares.
- 50:27Speaker 1: Nobody cares about Hitler or E.T.
- 50:30Speaker 2: No, nobody cares what Hitler thinks of E.T.
- 50:33Speaker 1: Right, right, right. Yeah. No, we don't need your movie reviews, Hitler.
- 50:36Speaker 1: We just want to know if you're suffering in hell.
- 50:38Speaker 1: That's all. Thank you. Yeah.
- 50:40Speaker 2: And we're pretty sure you are. I feel as though
- 50:44Speaker 2: confirmed yes.
- 50:45Speaker 1: Well, Af knows.
- 50:46Speaker 2: I mean, does he?
- 50:47Speaker 1: I guess he told Judy. They talked about it. It
- 50:50Speaker 1: might be. I didn't read her books, but she does
- 50:52Speaker 1: have books. And I'll tell you about them at the
- 50:56Speaker 1: end real quick.
- 50:57Speaker 2: Okie dokie.
- 50:58Speaker 1: Af also relayed to Judy that sex was very different
- 51:02Speaker 1: in the sixth realm.
- 51:03Speaker 2: Oh.
- 51:03Speaker 1: Quote, much more fun than anything you know on Earth. Oh, OK.
- 51:08Speaker 1: And I'm like, I really hope Judy was asking about
- 51:11Speaker 1: this and he's not just like.
- 51:13Speaker 2: Right. Volunteering.
- 51:15Speaker 1: Sending unsolicited dick pics from the other side.
- 51:18Speaker 2: Maybe buzz off.
- 51:20Speaker 1: Yeah. Judy had her doubts that any of this was real.
- 51:24Speaker 1: But apparently AF reassured her that she was, quote, truly
- 51:28Speaker 1: privileged to be the messenger of these glad tidings.
- 51:32Speaker 2: Oh, OK.
- 51:33Speaker 1: Well, sure.
- 51:34Speaker 2: Why not?
- 51:34Speaker 1: So he's like, this is all real. And like, you
- 51:36Speaker 1: should just be appreciative that I'm sharing with you. Yeah,
- 51:40Speaker 1: this is totes all real, Avi. Judy self-published three books
- 51:46Speaker 1: from AFS Communications called Beyond the Veil, A Further Step
- 51:51Speaker 1: Beyond the Veil, and Another Look at Life Beyond. So
- 51:55Speaker 1: if you have questions about maybe their communications, what she asked,
- 51:59Speaker 1: what he answered, you might be able to find them
- 52:01Speaker 1: in those books.
- 52:02Speaker 2: Interessante.
- 52:05Speaker 1: I thought the sex part was just so random and
- 52:07Speaker 1: like awkward.
- 52:09Speaker 2: Yeah, it just kind of feels like a lot, if
- 52:12Speaker 2: I'm being honest.
- 52:14Speaker 1: Why are you telling me this? To, like, make me
- 52:16Speaker 1: jealous or to, like, try to get me to go
- 52:18Speaker 1: to the sixth realm? Are you enticing me? Right. What's
- 52:22Speaker 1: the goal here, Aph?
- 52:23Speaker 2: This feels like an attempted abduction. Eek!
- 52:28Speaker 1: Well, that's all my fun Ouija board stories I have
- 52:31Speaker 1: for you. I like it. Should we do some Ouija
- 52:35Speaker 1: board instead of tarot?
- 52:38Speaker 2: Well, I don't have one, but if you have one
- 52:40Speaker 2: over there, you can go ahead.
- 52:42Speaker 1: We're not together. It wouldn't work. Do you have my
- 52:50Speaker 1: cute ghost deck there?
- 52:51Speaker 2: Yeah, I do. Okay, so let me know if there's
- 52:57Speaker 2: like a spot in front of the keyboard that you
- 53:00Speaker 2: are feeling.
- 53:01Speaker 1: I don't know why I was getting like Q.
- 53:04Speaker 2: Interesting. Okay. There is one that's kind of like poking
- 53:08Speaker 2: up in.
- 53:09Speaker 1: Like that spot.
- 53:10Speaker 2: And it's weird.
- 53:11Speaker 1: Pick the polka.
- 53:12Speaker 2: It's weird because I was thinking specifically of like a
- 53:17Speaker 2: letter that was close to that, but on the keyboard,
- 53:19Speaker 2: they're not close.
- 53:21Speaker 1: Oh.
- 53:21Speaker 2: So that's interesting.
- 53:22Speaker 1: Okay. Oh, six of cups. It's got two cute coasties
- 53:27Speaker 1: on it with six cups. And a sunrise or sunset.
- 53:32Speaker 1: I can't really tell.
- 53:33Speaker 2: Our keywords are nostalgia. emotional renewal, happiness, and harmony. This
- 53:40Speaker 2: joyful card sometimes shows two children in a garden. It
- 53:44Speaker 2: represents reflecting on a time of innocence, contentment, and beauty.
- 53:49Speaker 2: When it shows up, it indicates you're revisiting pleasant memories
- 53:54Speaker 2: and good times. Knowing that you have been happy in
- 53:57Speaker 2: the past can enhance your ability to be happy in
- 54:00Speaker 2: the future and especially if you've undergone a painful experience recently.
- 54:05Speaker 1: That is interesting because I was thinking of just Ouija
- 54:09Speaker 1: boards in general. Like they started out really fun with
- 54:12Speaker 1: like two people, you know, with the Ouija board on
- 54:15Speaker 1: their left. And we've got the two ghosts like having
- 54:18Speaker 1: a good time. And then like going through this painful
- 54:22Speaker 1: part of like people going mad, apparently going mad because
- 54:26Speaker 1: of the Ouija board and like the demonic connection and
- 54:29Speaker 1: the occult and all of that. like going through those
- 54:32Speaker 1: harder times. And then now we're like, I'm trying to
- 54:35Speaker 1: say like, it's not that bad. And we should maybe
- 54:37Speaker 1: get back to like the more innocent times of the
- 54:40Speaker 1: Ouija board. Yeah.
- 54:42Speaker 2: Well, and to me, this makes me think of like,
- 54:46Speaker 2: obviously it's a sad, it's a painful time when you
- 54:50Speaker 2: lose someone.
- 54:51Speaker 1: Yeah, that's true.
- 54:53Speaker 2: But then reflecting on what the traditional use of a
- 54:56Speaker 2: Ouija board is, reflecting on those, you know, past, Happy times.
- 55:02Speaker 1: And you can possibly reconnect with someone you've lost through
- 55:06Speaker 1: the Ouija board. I'm not saying that you will for
- 55:09Speaker 1: sure or, you know. Yeah.
- 55:11Speaker 2: You could. Yeah. We can claim no warranties.
- 55:16Speaker 1: Right. And people claim that they do. Like there's a
- 55:19Speaker 1: lot of really good and positive Ouija board experiences too.
- 55:23Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure. A card of emotional renewal, perhaps after
- 55:27Speaker 2: a time of unhappiness, The Six of Cups represents a
- 55:31Speaker 2: willingness to share joy with others. You eagerly give of
- 55:36Speaker 2: yourself and receive the good things life offers. Through your actions,
- 55:41Speaker 2: you express love and caring to people you know and
- 55:44Speaker 2: to the things you value. In a reading about money,
- 55:48Speaker 2: this card suggests an upswing in your finances, perhaps after
- 55:52Speaker 2: a loss or time of limitation. It can represent a
- 55:56Speaker 2: joint venture in which you share expenses and profits with others.
- 56:00Speaker 2: Sometimes it indicates a debt repaid.
- 56:04Speaker 1: Interesting. I don't know. It just makes me think of
- 56:06Speaker 1: like things being stolen and then like given back.
- 56:10Speaker 2: Yeah, really. Okay. If the reading's about your job, the
- 56:15Speaker 2: sixth upright shows renewed enthusiasm for your work. Perhaps a
- 56:20Speaker 2: change offers you more creativity or an improved work environment.
- 56:26Speaker 2: Developing new skills can benefit you now.
- 56:28Speaker 1: Use the Ouija board for your business advice.
- 56:31Speaker 2: Just be careful. Communicating with the dead.
- 56:36Speaker 1: Careful you don't go mad.
- 56:38Speaker 2: Always got to keep an eye on that. In a
- 56:41Speaker 2: reading about love, this card shows you're overcoming problems in
- 56:45Speaker 2: a relationship and renewing positive feelings for one another. Sometimes
- 56:50Speaker 2: the Six of Cups can mean reconnecting with a past lover.
- 56:54Speaker 1: Oh, like maybe one who's literally past. The dearly departed. Yeah.
- 57:03Speaker 1: There was one part in there about like sharing and
- 57:05Speaker 1: giving of yourself to others that kind of made me
- 57:08Speaker 1: think of Ath where he's like, you know, you should
- 57:11Speaker 1: be grateful. I'm like sharing these secrets from the other
- 57:15Speaker 1: side with you.
- 57:17Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, actually?
- 57:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 57:20Speaker 2: That is funny. That is so funny.
- 57:24Speaker 1: Were there any extra zerps?
- 57:25Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know how relevant we feel like
- 57:28Speaker 2: it is, but it says symbol of a kiss. The
- 57:31Speaker 2: six of cups in the Rider-Waite-Smith deck shows a large
- 57:35Speaker 2: cup resting on a pillar decorated with an X. X
- 57:39Speaker 2: is the Norse rune for love and a symbol we
- 57:43Speaker 2: use for a kiss.
- 57:44Speaker 1: Cute. I mean, it kind of like, you know, that
- 57:47Speaker 1: date night thing. Right. I was talking about lovers. Yeah.
- 57:52Speaker 1: Connecting over the Ouija board in the dark room. Maybe
- 57:55Speaker 1: sharing a kiss.
- 57:56Speaker 2: Sharing a kiss. It's interesting, too, because in the reverse,
- 58:01Speaker 2: it says, because the Six of Cups is such a
- 58:04Speaker 2: happy card, it signifies pleasant things even when it's reversed.
- 58:10Speaker 1: That. I like when those cards it's like that one
- 58:12Speaker 1: in the sun card or like the two that are
- 58:14Speaker 1: they're really great.
- 58:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 58:15Speaker 1: So positive that they're you can't reverse them.
- 58:19Speaker 2: I am going to skip to the last sentence, though,
- 58:22Speaker 2: because I do think this could have like a tie in.
- 58:25Speaker 2: And I think the the energy of this card being
- 58:28Speaker 2: that like the upright and the reverse are just like
- 58:32Speaker 2: it's kind of I don't know. Like you said, there's
- 58:34Speaker 2: almost no reverse. It says, however, it may mean you're
- 58:39Speaker 2: stuck reminiscing about the good old days and can't seem
- 58:43Speaker 2: to find happiness in the present. Oh. So I feel
- 58:48Speaker 2: like that goes back to some of these people that
- 58:50Speaker 2: are just trying to connect.
- 58:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 58:52Speaker 2: You know.
- 58:53Speaker 1: And they just like get kind of stuck trying to
- 58:56Speaker 1: figure out like.
- 58:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 58:57Speaker 1: The woman who was trying to figure out who killed
- 58:59Speaker 1: her daughter in the hit and run.
- 59:02Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 59:02Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 59:03Speaker 2: That kind of, I feel like that's the tie-in with that.
- 59:07Speaker 1: That's so sad. Well, yeah, end us on a sad note.
- 59:10Speaker 1: note Caitlin I mean what was the other you said
- 59:15Speaker 1: there was like another letter that you were trying to
- 59:18Speaker 1: that you were drawn to what was oh.
- 59:20Speaker 2: I was thinking like the letter oh.
- 59:24Speaker 1: See I was too for some reason when I first
- 59:28Speaker 1: thought of it. I thought Q for some reason. Then
- 59:30Speaker 1: I was like, no, I should do O because Ouija.
- 59:32Speaker 1: But then I was like, no, for whatever reason, like
- 59:35Speaker 1: Q was hitting me.
- 59:37Speaker 2: Oh, I didn't even think about it. I wasn't even
- 59:39Speaker 2: thinking O for Ouija. I just was feeling drawn to that.
- 59:43Speaker 2: That's so weird.
- 59:44Speaker 1: I was definitely going back and forth between the O
- 59:46Speaker 1: and the Q. That's so funny. Wait.
- 59:49Speaker 2: No. What?
- 59:51Speaker 1: No. What? Oh, three of cups. We just got there.
- 59:55Speaker 1: You guys just got that one.
- 59:56Speaker 2: We just got this.
- 59:57Speaker 1: That's so funny. I think it's trying to tell us something.
- 1:00:00Speaker 2: I drew it in reverse, though. Oh, which is crazy. OK,
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: so keywords are celebration, fulfillment, friendship, community, happiness and fun.
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: And the reverse interpretation is when reversed, the three of
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: cups can indicate indulgence, In food or alcohol. Or Ouija boards.
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: It doesn't say alcohol. It says in food or drink. Oh, well,
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: we know what you mean. Too much partying.
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: I mean, I filled in the blanks.
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: Too much plancheting. Right?
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: Perhaps you feel weary from too much interaction with other
- 1:00:42Speaker 2: people and need some downtime. Or you've become disenchanted with
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: your friends. In some cases, it shows a longing for
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: friendship or sense of community.
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: Aww.
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: I know.
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: Is it like the ghosts on the other side who
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: are just waiting for people to pick up a Ouija
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: board so they can talk to someone?
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: I mean, I kind of think so. In a reading
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: about money, rewards from a group effort may be delayed
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: or not as great as you'd hoped. This card can
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: also warn of overextending yourself financially or counting your chickens
- 1:01:15Speaker 2: before they're hatched.
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: Hmm.
- 1:01:17Speaker 2: If the reading is about your job, the reverse three
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: suggests your success comes in small ways rather than grand ones,
- 1:01:26Speaker 2: or a victory may seem hollow. Perhaps you don't feel
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: as happy with your job or the results of a
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: project as you'd expect it to be. In a reading
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: about love, the three reverse shows you may feel left out, discouraged,
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: or lonely. Perhaps you've grown and your lovers slash loved
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: ones haven't kept up. In some cases, this card can
- 1:01:51Speaker 2: mean a primary partnership takes up all your time and
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: you don't get to see friends as much as you'd like.
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: Ooh, like if you get obsessed with talking to spirits
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: on your Ouija board.
- 1:02:02Speaker 2: I could see that. I also was kind of interpreting
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: that as perhaps, okay, so perhaps you've grown and your
- 1:02:11Speaker 2: lover slash loved ones haven't kept up In some cases,
- 1:02:16Speaker 2: it can mean, you know, the primary partnership takes up
- 1:02:18Speaker 2: all your time, blah, blah, blah. You can't see friends.
- 1:02:21Speaker 2: I was like, well, I could kind of see that
- 1:02:25Speaker 2: being a feeling like after you've like gone to the
- 1:02:29Speaker 2: other side.
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: Yeah. But I don't know. That was still kind of
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: a sad note. I know.
- 1:02:36Speaker 2: Well, hey, listen, leave it to me to make a
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: two card reading both with cups sound sad.
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: Oh, wait. So we got the six of cups first.
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: And then the three of cups.
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: F was from the sixth realm. That's right. And then
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: we got a three, which is like another, you know.
- 1:02:56Speaker 2: We literally just drew this card. So I drew it
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: in the opposite orientation. And that's just crazy to me.
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: We got like a double number and a Jesus number. Interesting. Well,
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: I like that. I think those fit great.
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: I think so, too.
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: Have a creepy ass Halloween.
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: We'll see you next Thursday.
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: Unless you do a Ouija board and you summon the
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: devil and get sucked into the board and you're gone forever.
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: Oh, my God. I was literally going to say, and
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: you get sucked into the board.
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: Yeah. Why is that like the visual? I don't know. No,
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: but really, if you do a Ouija board, be safe.
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: Look up the rules. Protect yourself.
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: Do all the things right. And good luck to you.
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: And stay the hell away from my house. Boo. I know.
- 1:03:49Speaker 2: I'm sorry. I can't afford for just letting random vibes
- 1:03:54Speaker 2: in here. You know what a sponge this place is
- 1:03:57Speaker 2: and what I am.
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: Vibe fortress.
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: I can't risk it. Girl, I need a castle and
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: a moat.
