Transcript
- 0:13SPEAKER_00: Welcome into the replay room.
- 0:16SPEAKER_00: My name is Sean Boyle, and joining me today, two very special guests.
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: You've heard from one of these voices before, but we have a debutante, a newbie to the show.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: It is Mr.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: and Mrs.
- 0:27SPEAKER_00: Michael and Annie Collins.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: Welcome, Collins family.
- 0:31SPEAKER_00: I'm glad to have you both.
- 0:32SPEAKER_02: Sean, thanks for having us.
- 0:34SPEAKER_02: It's it's a special night here in the Collins household.
- 0:36SPEAKER_02: It's it's not always that I'm able to hop on the ones and twos with my beloved here.
- 0:42SPEAKER_02: So looking forward to it.
- 0:44SPEAKER_02: And uh, of course, talking incredible album with you here.
- 0:48SPEAKER_02: So let my wife take it away.
- 0:50SPEAKER_04: Yeah, thanks for having me, Sean.
- 0:52SPEAKER_04: What an honor to be here and to talk about an album that I love very much.
- 0:56SPEAKER_04: And with an album that we've talked between the three of us plenty about.
- 1:00SPEAKER_04: So I'm excited to chat more about it.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: Yeah, Annie, we're glad to have you.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: Finally get the better half in the mix.
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: That's it's good.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: The listeners are growing, growing a bit tired of Michael's going ons.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: But we have talked about this album a ton offline.
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: We're taking that conversation online today.
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: We're gonna do similar to our normal album breakdowns, but we're throwing in a twist.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: So we'll give you a little bit of background on the album.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: Instead of going through a song-by-song breakdown through this slog of 30 songs, we are going to do a song draft, which we'll get into the specifics of as we get to that portion.
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: Then we'll give our final thoughts on the album, and then of course we will leave you with a score from zero to 100.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: I assume those are all going to be pretty high.
- 1:43SPEAKER_00: Let's start with some background on red by Taylor Swift.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: If you couldn't tell from the episode title, I'm gonna throw it to you, Annie.
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: Why did we choose this album to talk about for your debut on the podcast?
- 1:54SPEAKER_04: Well, an easy answer is that it is my favorite album.
- 1:58SPEAKER_04: It's always a difficult answer when asked what is your favorite Taylor Swift album, because they truly are all great.
- 2:06SPEAKER_04: But Red is my favorite, and I've said that on the record before.
- 2:10SPEAKER_04: It was the first Taylor Swift concert that I actually attended.
- 2:15SPEAKER_04: It holds a special place in my heart from that perspective.
- 2:18SPEAKER_04: And yeah, it's 2012 is when it came out, so it's very uh formative years.
- 2:23SPEAKER_04: Formative year, yeah.
- 2:25SPEAKER_04: And and yeah, it's uh it's my favorite, really.
- 2:28SPEAKER_04: So that's why I'm excited to chat about it.
- 2:31SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I had texted both of you asking what Taylor Swift albums do you want to do because you guys have first preference, you guys have rule of the roost when it comes to Taylor Swift.
- 2:39SPEAKER_00: I threw the question out there.
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: Annie said red, and I said, Well, we gotta do it in the fall.
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: We're not gonna do a red album breakdown in March or April.
- 2:46SPEAKER_00: We gotta get to it.
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: So we're getting it to you in November.
- 2:49SPEAKER_00: I think it's an apt time of year for this to come out.
- 2:51SPEAKER_00: As Annie mentioned, the original album was Taylor's fourth studio album.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: It came out in October of 2012.
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: Then we got Taylor's version in November of 2021.
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: Collins, why don't you tell me who worked on these masterpieces?
- 3:06SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so so writing-wise, as usual, primarily Taylor by herself.
- 3:11SPEAKER_02: There's some some guest help here and there, of course.
- 3:14SPEAKER_02: I think uh Liz Rose was a co-writer on All Too Well.
- 3:19SPEAKER_02: She she helped a lot with Taylor's earlier stuff.
- 3:22SPEAKER_02: There are a couple features, Ed Sheeran and Gary Lightbody from Chasing Cars.
- 3:27SPEAKER_02: So they're co-writers on theirs.
- 3:29SPEAKER_02: Um, and then also I what I didn't realize, uh Dan Wilson from Semisonic, he is noted as a co-writer on Treacherous, uh, which you you might be hearing more about later on.
- 3:41SPEAKER_02: And so that that was an interesting there.
- 3:43SPEAKER_02: So she's really kind of mixing it up with all the big pop names.
- 3:47SPEAKER_02: This was we we've neglected to mention as of yet, but this was sort of a big transition album for Taylor from uh country into pop.
- 3:58SPEAKER_02: Uh, she's still kind of in the in the original album that was released in 2012, she still kind of hangs on to a lot of the country sound as much as she can, but she's got the the pop hits, and really that kind of leads me right into her work with producers Max Martin and Shellback.
- 4:16SPEAKER_02: Uh Max Martin at the time, back in the in the uh early 2010s, was he just he chewed up and shit out pop hits like it was his job, and that's exactly what he did here.
- 4:30SPEAKER_02: She she worked with Max Martin and Shell Beck on sort of the three big radio songs that were on this album.
- 4:37SPEAKER_02: And so this was the first time that the the trio worked together, and it it kicked off a uh an incredibly successful relationship of uh the three of them creating Pop Hits, and most recently was the the uh Life of the Showgirl album, which just came out, I think this time last year.
- 4:57SPEAKER_02: So they've had you know a long going on 15 years now that they've worked together.
- 5:02SPEAKER_02: And another producer who was on a couple of different songs on here, only only a few, but a guy by the name of Jeff Basker, who I uh heard Taylor reference him in an interview, and she noted that she was interested in working with him because of what he had accomplished with the Fun album.
- 5:23SPEAKER_02: Fun being the the former band with Nate Nate Roos, and uh also Jack Antinoff was in the band Fun.
- 5:31SPEAKER_02: So I thought that was kind of interesting that she's already making that sort of connection with the Jack Antinoff sound, and then obviously we know that the type of work that those two are going to be doing together uh in the years to come.
- 5:44SPEAKER_02: So neat little connection there with Jeff Jeff Basker entering the picture with a couple of songs on red as well.
- 5:51SPEAKER_00: I appreciate you taking me through that because to be honest with you, I did not know the Jeff Basker piece to this puzzle.
- 5:56SPEAKER_00: I was familiar with the others, but that is that is new news to me to quote a different podcast.
- 6:02SPEAKER_00: Collins, I have a couple things I want to unpack with you here.
- 6:05SPEAKER_00: I I I think you said Gary Lightbody of Chasing Cars as the band's name.
- 6:09SPEAKER_00: And let me tell you this, it took me a good minute.
- 6:12SPEAKER_00: I was like, is it the band's cars the band's name?
- 6:15SPEAKER_00: Cars is the song title.
- 6:16SPEAKER_03: Yeah, Snow Patrol, excuse me.
- 6:19SPEAKER_00: That's their one song, and I and it also reminded me.
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: Did they open a concert that we went to together?
- 6:25SPEAKER_03: Was that who Andy was dying to get us in the stadium to see?
- 6:29SPEAKER_03: Very much so.
- 6:30SPEAKER_03: They opened for Ed Sheeran.
- 6:31SPEAKER_04: Yep, it was the Ed Sheeran concert, and we might have heard Chasing Cars as we were walking into the stadium, and I was like, guys, what called the band Chasing Cars.
- 6:43SPEAKER_02: That's so funny.
- 6:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah, Snow Patrol, excuse me.
- 6:46SPEAKER_02: I apologize.
- 6:47SPEAKER_02: My apologies for the light bodic family.
- 6:49SPEAKER_00: Another thing, also, you mentioned Max Martin and Shellback and how Taylor worked with them on the life of a showgirl in 2025.
- 6:57SPEAKER_00: You also mentioned Max Martin's just pop prowess during this time.
- 7:01SPEAKER_00: To name a few songs that he worked on himself.
- 7:04SPEAKER_00: He was back in the day, he was working on Oops with Britney Spears, Hit Me Baby One More Time, Backstreet Boys, I Want It That Way.
- 7:11SPEAKER_00: Is that song any good?
- 7:12SPEAKER_00: He also did Since You've Been Gone by Kelly Clarkson, and then him and Shellback together, they did Pink, Raise Your Glass, and So What?
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: That comes to mind as Pop Hits in the late 2000s.
- 7:23SPEAKER_00: Katie Perry, I kissed a girl, hot and cold, California Girls.
- 7:28SPEAKER_00: So really, really did make their way around the pop scene.
- 7:30SPEAKER_01: Jeez.
- 7:31SPEAKER_00: Yeah, if you've heard of any of those.
- 7:34SPEAKER_00: And also fun.
- 7:35SPEAKER_00: What a what a good throwback to Fun.
- 7:37SPEAKER_00: They had some bangers too.
- 7:38SPEAKER_00: Some nights.
- 7:39SPEAKER_00: Some nights.
- 7:40SPEAKER_00: We are young.
- 7:40SPEAKER_02: We are young.
- 7:41SPEAKER_02: Yeah, absolutely.
- 7:43SPEAKER_02: So yeah, and and that was the Jack Antinoff special.
- 7:47SPEAKER_02: So you could see you could see her already sort of getting into the sound that fun was going for, starting to work with the producer, and then it all roads lead to Antinoff.
- 7:57SPEAKER_02: That's true.
- 7:57SPEAKER_02: That's true for everybody now.
- 7:58SPEAKER_00: It's a rite of passage to do an album with Jack Antinoff.
- 8:02SPEAKER_00: Let's talk about how the album performed commercially.
- 8:05SPEAKER_00: It obviously was super successful.
- 8:06SPEAKER_00: We had a bunch of singles go to number one.
- 8:08SPEAKER_00: The album went to number one immediately.
- 8:10SPEAKER_00: I believe it broke the record for fastest to one and a quarter million copies sold.
- 8:15SPEAKER_00: It did that within its first week.
- 8:17SPEAKER_00: That was all amazing, but there was a bit of a snub around this album at the 2014 Grammys.
- 8:23SPEAKER_00: Do you care to tell me a little bit more about that?
- 8:25SPEAKER_02: Yeah, first, I mean, we we mentioned it was released in 2012, so for some reason it it waited to be nominated for a Grammy up until 2014.
- 8:34SPEAKER_02: Not sure how that works.
- 8:35SPEAKER_02: But the the winner of the album of the year that year was Random Access Memories by Def Punk, which was a surprise to many, myself included.
- 8:47SPEAKER_02: Um, I believe that the the Grammy, the Academy, whatever the Academy is considered for the grant the the committee, the uh college football playoff committee, whoever it might be that decides on the Grammy, their reasoning was, I believe this is a direct quote, that it was not sonically cohesive.
- 9:06SPEAKER_02: So we can we could possibly get into that when we talk about the songs themselves.
- 9:11SPEAKER_02: The the sonic incohesion, to me, one of the main reasons that I love it so much.
- 9:18SPEAKER_02: There's you know, and Taylor herself had said that it's supposed to represent that time period in her life.
- 9:25SPEAKER_02: Like you're kind of all over the place, you're happy, you're sad, you're crazy, you're you know, what have you.
- 9:33SPEAKER_04: But uh happy, free, confused, and lonely in the best way.
- 9:36SPEAKER_02: So I say all at the same time.
- 9:39SPEAKER_02: So yeah, the the uh lack of sonic cohesion was a a Grammy drawback to them, uh, which I think is a feature, not a bug.
- 9:47SPEAKER_02: But yeah, that's the snub.
- 9:49SPEAKER_02: Who could forget the random access memories, though?
- 9:51SPEAKER_02: An album like that must must have stood the test of time.
- 9:55SPEAKER_00: I can't believe it lost to a hard drive.
- 9:57SPEAKER_00: That's all that is.
- 9:58SPEAKER_00: It was beeps and boops and sounds.
- 10:00SPEAKER_00: It was we lost to R2 D2.
- 10:02SPEAKER_00: I I don't get it.
- 10:03SPEAKER_00: I I never will understand it.
- 10:05SPEAKER_00: I I can't name one other song off that random access memories album other than Up All Night to Get Lucky.
- 10:10SPEAKER_00: And I think those are the only words that are said in the song.
- 10:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 10:13SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I think you're right.
- 10:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so maybe I I'm confused on what Sonic cohesion means.
- 10:19SPEAKER_00: But if I were to sum up Taylor's album and I was a smart person, those might be two words I use.
- 10:24SPEAKER_00: If I were to sum up the hard drive album, it might be beeps and boops.
- 10:28SPEAKER_00: But we're not here to we're not here to argue over spilt milk.
- 10:32SPEAKER_00: That happened 12 years ago.
- 10:34SPEAKER_00: We have to talk about the main portion of the program here, and that is the song draft.
- 10:38SPEAKER_00: So a little bit of context to what we're doing.
- 10:40SPEAKER_00: It's gonna be a snake draft, of course, and out of the goodness of my heart, I've given the Collins family picks one and two.
- 10:47SPEAKER_00: It's the little things, you know, it's almost a giving time of year.
- 10:50SPEAKER_00: Each of us will pick eight songs off of the 30-track Taylor's version record that includes all of the vault songs and the different variations of the song.
- 10:59SPEAKER_00: So as they appear on Spotify, Apple Music, of those 30, all those songs are draft eligible.
- 11:05SPEAKER_00: The remaining six songs, we will discuss whether we would keep them from the record or cut them and just kind of call them the leftovers and go into them in a little bit of detail.
- 11:13SPEAKER_00: But I want us to spend time after we make our picks talking about why we appreciate the songs.
- 11:18SPEAKER_00: So instead of doing the track by track, this is the way we're going to talk about the music today.
- 11:21SPEAKER_00: Is there anything else before we start this draft?
- 11:24SPEAKER_02: Nah, just the just in the fact that, yeah, so of course we're as you mentioned, the 30 songs that are all included on the Taylor's version uh of this album that was released in 2021.
- 11:36SPEAKER_02: However, you get the original version as well if there's uh any type of difference.
- 11:42SPEAKER_02: Some some of them have completely different production.
- 11:45SPEAKER_02: So uh it's the the song recording as as uh an entity that you're uh drafting here.
- 11:53SPEAKER_00: That's a good clarification.
- 11:54SPEAKER_00: I appreciate that because I didn't mention that, and there is definitely a difference in some of the original versions and the Taylor's versions.
- 12:00SPEAKER_00: So you get both when selecting a specific song.
- 12:04SPEAKER_00: It's it's time.
- 12:06SPEAKER_00: This is a highly anticipated moment in the podcast.
- 12:09SPEAKER_00: Taylor Swift drafts have been talked about for a while.
- 12:11SPEAKER_00: We're finally launching one.
- 12:13SPEAKER_00: Mr.
- 12:14SPEAKER_00: Michael Collins, please lead us off.
- 12:16SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 12:16SPEAKER_02: I'm very excited to kick off this draft.
- 12:19SPEAKER_02: This has been something that that we've been waiting for for a very long time here.
- 12:23SPEAKER_02: So, no better way to start our draft off than the song that starts our album off, and that is State of Grace.
- 12:32SPEAKER_02: I prefer the original version released in in 2012.
- 12:36SPEAKER_02: Taylor's version is just as good, though, to me.
- 12:39SPEAKER_02: Just an incredible, incredible way to kick off the album.
- 12:43SPEAKER_02: You start with the with the guitar riff in the beginning, just l leading up with the drums coming in right behind it, just gets you going.
- 12:52SPEAKER_02: It's an absolute tone setter for uh the album as a whole.
- 12:55SPEAKER_02: If if you've heard me on a couple of other episodes here, you know I'm big into first songs on on albums and and how we can uh set the tone, like I said.
- 13:05SPEAKER_02: So this this one knocks it out of the park, does an absolutely perfect job.
- 13:10SPEAKER_02: It's probably my favorite Taylor Swift song, all-encompassing as a as a whole.
- 13:16SPEAKER_02: So for me, graciously granted the number one overall pick by our host Sean Boyle, it was a no-brainer for me.
- 13:23SPEAKER_02: I had to go get my guy.
- 13:24SPEAKER_04: This song is, I feel like I have a lot of emotional ties to this song because this is the song that she kicked off her red tour with.
- 13:32SPEAKER_04: And it was like I said previously, my first time seeing her in costume concert.
- 13:39SPEAKER_04: It's a very overwhelming problem.
- 13:43SPEAKER_04: It was a very overwhelming and exciting and like lead up to the the entire concert.
- 13:49SPEAKER_04: Um, I think I cried, like, because I've never cried a girl at a concert before, but it was just like so overwhelming.
- 13:57SPEAKER_04: And I was like, oh my gosh, there she is, I'm seeing her.
- 14:00SPEAKER_04: And uh like what a song to kick off her tour with.
- 14:03SPEAKER_04: So um big fan.
- 14:04SPEAKER_02: And what a song to kick off our draft with.
- 14:07SPEAKER_04: Absolutely.
- 14:07SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I like the pick.
- 14:08SPEAKER_04: It's just the kickoff song.
- 14:09SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's the it's the start things up song, and it's not just that, it's a great pick.
- 14:14SPEAKER_00: It's in that tier one for me of songs on this album.
- 14:16SPEAKER_00: I think there's a clear drop-off after a certain number.
- 14:19SPEAKER_00: This one is certainly in that mix.
- 14:21SPEAKER_00: It's such a good build-up in the song, too.
- 14:24SPEAKER_00: And then the vocal, she just lets it fly.
- 14:26SPEAKER_00: And you want to talk about sonically soaring through a vocal.
- 14:29SPEAKER_00: I mean, geez, I'd love to see the computer boys try to do something like that.
- 14:34SPEAKER_00: But it's it's an incredible song.
- 14:36SPEAKER_00: It's a worthy first overall pick.
- 14:38SPEAKER_00: It's really down to preference in these first two rounds.
- 14:40SPEAKER_00: I think the picks are gonna kind of pick themselves in rounds one or two.
- 14:43SPEAKER_00: It's down to what you like the most, and I have no qualms with State of Grace for sure.
- 14:47SPEAKER_02: Yeah, an amazing bridge as well, like you mentioned, so sonically soaring, as you put it.
- 14:52SPEAKER_02: The the bridges on this album, in particular, are going to be a recurring theme.
- 14:56SPEAKER_02: So we'll we'll get to that when we get to it.
- 14:59SPEAKER_02: That's a good point.
- 15:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah, she loves a bridge, she loves a bridge, especially at this era, if you will.
- 15:06SPEAKER_00: That's right.
- 15:07SPEAKER_00: That's a good point.
- 15:08SPEAKER_00: Annie, I also appreciated that you mentioned the concert experience because I like when the first song on an album also opens a concert.
- 15:15SPEAKER_00: I saw Olivia Dean recently in her Art of Loving.
- 15:17SPEAKER_00: She did the intro and then the first song like they were on the album.
- 15:20SPEAKER_00: So I appreciate that.
- 15:21SPEAKER_00: I think it sets a good tone for a concert.
- 15:23SPEAKER_00: You know what you're gonna get.
- 15:24SPEAKER_04: Yeah, absolutely.
- 15:25SPEAKER_04: And I feel like since then, and now I I can't speak to the 1989 tour, I wasn't there, but I feel like it's kind of a toss-up otherwise for her concerts and other artists' concerts, to be honest.
- 15:37SPEAKER_04: Like, you don't really know.
- 15:38SPEAKER_04: Sometimes you don't even know ahead of time if they mix it up every show.
- 15:43SPEAKER_04: So I agree.
- 15:43SPEAKER_04: I like the predictability.
- 15:45SPEAKER_04: Uh, it's it's very comfortable.
- 15:46SPEAKER_04: So good choice by her.
- 15:48SPEAKER_04: And good choice by you.
- 15:49SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
- 15:50SPEAKER_00: There you go.
- 15:51SPEAKER_00: Look at that.
- 15:51SPEAKER_00: Now, Annie, it is up to you.
- 15:53SPEAKER_00: Your first pick in a draft on the podcast.
- 15:56SPEAKER_00: I there's palpable anticipation, although I know where you're going, but the listeners don't.
- 16:01SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 16:02SPEAKER_04: So, my probably my favorite song of all time for Taylor Swift is Treacherous.
- 16:09SPEAKER_04: So that is my choice for my draft pick.
- 16:12SPEAKER_04: It is number three on the track list.
- 16:16SPEAKER_04: This song is I love the message behind it, but I more so love the the sound of it.
- 16:23SPEAKER_04: The the the song as a whole, it like gives me butterflies.
- 16:27SPEAKER_04: When I first listened to it, I like had that feeling, and it's just a great song.
- 16:31SPEAKER_04: Another mention of the tour, and then that's kind of it because I don't know that I have a tie to any of these other songs as far as the tour is concerned.
- 16:38SPEAKER_04: But the she was doing the surprise song type of thing during that tour as well, similar to what we've seen on the that was reputation.
- 16:47SPEAKER_04: Oh, thank you.
- 16:48SPEAKER_04: Good memory.
- 16:48SPEAKER_04: Okay, so this is not about the red tour, this is about reputation.
- 16:51SPEAKER_04: When we saw her, Michael and I saw her in 2018.
- 16:55SPEAKER_04: This was probably the best concert I've ever been to.
- 16:58SPEAKER_04: Um she did yeah, so she was doing the surprise song session like she did in the Ares tour.
- 17:05SPEAKER_04: And so, yeah, this was reputation.
- 17:07SPEAKER_04: So, really, like we could have gotten anything.
- 17:10SPEAKER_04: And she starts the the little pitch off at the beginning before she starts playing by saying, you know, like, I I wasn't sure what song I was gonna play tonight, but I had a meet and greet with fans before the concert, and one of the fans was really excited to show me his tattoo that said, Nothing safe is worth the drive.
- 17:31SPEAKER_04: And at that point, I almost vomited because that was my favorite song, and she kicked it off.
- 17:39SPEAKER_04: And that's obviously a line from the song, and yeah, she played it acoustically as a surprise song for our reputation tour, which was so exciting.
- 17:48SPEAKER_04: So, yeah, favorite song, number one pity.
- 17:51SPEAKER_02: It was amazing.
- 17:51SPEAKER_02: I think.
- 17:52SPEAKER_02: Did she not also say that that guy proposed then proposed to his girlfriend at the meet and greet?
- 17:57SPEAKER_04: Ooh, I don't know that for sure.
- 17:59SPEAKER_04: I don't remember.
- 18:00SPEAKER_02: I thought that was the case.
- 18:01SPEAKER_02: Maybe I made it up in my head.
- 18:02SPEAKER_02: I'm hopeless romantic.
- 18:04SPEAKER_02: Come on, but incredible song.
- 18:07SPEAKER_02: That performance of it was amazing in Philadelphia at the Reputation Tour.
- 18:11SPEAKER_02: No notes from me.
- 18:12SPEAKER_02: Like awesome.
- 18:14SPEAKER_02: Another great bridge.
- 18:15SPEAKER_00: Come on.
- 18:16SPEAKER_00: Another fantastic song.
- 18:17SPEAKER_00: And this actually would have been my first pick as well.
- 18:20SPEAKER_00: So, Annie, because you picked second and I'm third, you did get this one ahead of me.
- 18:24SPEAKER_00: But you deserve it.
- 18:25SPEAKER_00: You're a true treacherous fan all the way through.
- 18:27SPEAKER_00: So I do tip my cap.
- 18:29SPEAKER_00: It's a great pick.
- 18:30SPEAKER_00: It's such a good song.
- 18:31SPEAKER_00: It's another one, it's similar to State of Grace in a lot of ways, where you get that build-up in the song, and then the vocals really come through in a way that it kind of just feels like it's her drums, a little guitar, and it's just pure raw perfection in this song.
- 18:44SPEAKER_00: I absolutely love Treacherous.
- 18:48SPEAKER_00: So good.
- 18:48SPEAKER_00: And the way this draft is shaping up, Annie, already, I feel like you're gonna be off to a really strong one to start.
- 18:54SPEAKER_00: I I don't think I can go any other direction here with the third overall pick.
- 19:00SPEAKER_00: I might be a bit controversial, but I think I have my guy MC in my corner on this one.
- 19:05SPEAKER_00: If I know him, I know he's a fan of the original, and I'm going to take all too well the fifth track on this record, not the 10-minute version.
- 19:15SPEAKER_00: I think I think when push comes to shove, I just slightly prefer this one.
- 19:20SPEAKER_00: And listen, they're both spectacular, but this song walked so that one can run.
- 19:25SPEAKER_00: I think this song, I when I first heard it, it's one of those you're like, oh god, I didn't know I could vividly picture and feel like I'm in the situation she was in.
- 19:34SPEAKER_00: And you just are blown away by the lyrics, you're blown away by the sound, the bridge, every part of it is just a masterclass in songwriting, and it's aged so well, it's become one of her most famous songs.
- 19:46SPEAKER_00: She knows that too, she leans into that, but it's for good reason.
- 19:49SPEAKER_00: I think it's because it's maybe the best song she's ever written, just from a lyrical standpoint.
- 19:54SPEAKER_04: It's it's such a classic track five, and I feel like this was probably one of the first songs that really solidified like her her definition of a track five on her albums, or at least uh the first one that she like publicly was sharing, like the relevance of a track five.
- 20:12SPEAKER_04: I I feel like it's one that means a lot to her, but she doesn't necessarily know that the fans might resonate with it.
- 20:19SPEAKER_04: And I I feel as though this is one that she has like been public about saying that she didn't really she was surprised by the fans' attachment to this song, and and so I think that makes it even more special that she knows how important it is to the fans.
- 20:37SPEAKER_02: I think that's a good idea.
- 20:38SPEAKER_02: Yeah, Sean, Sean, I totally agree with you on the version of All Too Well that was released in 2012 is by far my favorite version of the song.
- 20:53SPEAKER_02: The 10 minute, you know, there's there's five extra minutes in there.
- 20:57SPEAKER_02: So you get there's the it's it's pretty pretty powerful version itself as well.
- 21:02SPEAKER_02: But that just that that the song off of the OG album with the the raw emotion, as I think you mentioned, and just the the gut wrenching, you can hear it in her voice, the ever everything that she had gone through when writing that song.
- 21:19SPEAKER_02: So yeah, no, I I love that uh that you that you didn't shy away from that version and and pander with the 10 minutes.
- 21:27SPEAKER_02: So hats off to you, sir.
- 21:29SPEAKER_03: Now having said that, you could go ahead and take the 10 minute right here also.
- 21:36SPEAKER_00: I don't want back to back all too well my first two picks.
- 21:39SPEAKER_00: I I am torn though between two songs, and both of which I love, and they're both in that upper tier for me in this album, that top tier that I referred to earlier.
- 21:49SPEAKER_00: But I'm gonna go, I'm gonna go with one from the vault.
- 21:53SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna go from the vault early.
- 21:55SPEAKER_00: And I'm taking a song she had gifted away that she should never have.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: Gifted away.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 22:01SPEAKER_00: I'm taking Better Man.
- 22:04SPEAKER_00: I think the melody of this song could potentially be the best melody in music.
- 22:08SPEAKER_00: It's an impossible melody not to sing along to.
- 22:11SPEAKER_00: It's so good.
- 22:13SPEAKER_00: I love every part of the song.
- 22:14SPEAKER_00: She goes back to those country roots a little bit too, but not too much.
- 22:18SPEAKER_00: It's it's just perfect.
- 22:19SPEAKER_00: The balance is perfect.
- 22:21SPEAKER_00: Better Man, I think people are well aware of how good this song is, but I do feel like it gets lost in the sauce a little bit.
- 22:27SPEAKER_00: And I know it's not lost in the Collins household.
- 22:30SPEAKER_00: So I feel like I'm in safe hands and appreciating this.
- 22:32SPEAKER_04: Yes, this is a safe place for Better Man lovers.
- 22:36SPEAKER_04: I I will say personally, I didn't care for this song at all from what Little Big Town, right?
- 22:43SPEAKER_04: I know you feel differently about that.
- 22:45SPEAKER_04: When when it was Little Big Town, I was just kind of like, but her releasing it as a vault track and singing it herself on red Taylor's version, that would have been my second pick, Sean.
- 22:56SPEAKER_04: So so far we are having the same dreams.
- 22:59SPEAKER_01: Let's go.
- 23:00SPEAKER_01: Let's go.
- 23:01SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, which is not what I was expecting from this.
- 23:03SPEAKER_04: I thought me and Sean were gonna kind of be on opposite ends of the red spectrum, but so far we're we're pretty aligned.
- 23:09SPEAKER_02: I'm really surprised to hear from from the two of you.
- 23:11SPEAKER_02: I I was thinking I might be able to get that like a little bit later on.
- 23:16SPEAKER_02: So I love I love to hear the the appreciation from you guys.
- 23:20SPEAKER_02: That's incredible.
- 23:21SPEAKER_02: Opposite of Annie, when I heard Better Man from Little Big Town, I was a huge fan.
- 23:27SPEAKER_02: I was I was hooked right away.
- 23:30SPEAKER_02: Didn't even know at the time that uh it was a Swift original.
- 23:34SPEAKER_02: I learned that maybe a couple years after I had already been obsessed with the Little Big Town version.
- 23:39SPEAKER_02: So when I heard that uh it was gonna be a vault track on Red Taylor's version, I was ecstatic and boy did it live up to the hype.
- 23:47SPEAKER_02: So great pick by you, Sean.
- 23:49SPEAKER_02: I'm surprised.
- 23:50SPEAKER_02: I am I'm happy for you.
- 23:52SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
- 23:53SPEAKER_00: And I knew I knew I could tell you guys, I go out on a limb a little bit because I if I was doing this with any Tom Dick or Harry, I I don't know that they're being like, they're like, oh, you're taking a Vault song second second round.
- 24:04SPEAKER_00: I think this one definitely deserves it.
- 24:07SPEAKER_00: It is such a fascinating case study, too, and how she didn't put this song out herself originally.
- 24:11SPEAKER_00: Like, how many songs go on to be this good that aren't like something you write and then put out yourself?
- 24:16SPEAKER_00: It's so weird.
- 24:17SPEAKER_00: And you know what?
- 24:18SPEAKER_02: I feel like there might have been some external pressure.
- 24:21SPEAKER_02: I mentioned the transition from country to pop, and she still hangs on to a little bit of a pop country song on the original album.
- 24:31SPEAKER_02: This to me is a country song, Better Man is, and I I worry that in 2012 there was there were some voices in her ear telling her that it's a little bit too country to release as part of this album, but uh I digress on on that front.
- 24:48SPEAKER_00: I'm just happy that we got what we got.
- 24:50SPEAKER_00: I think that's actually a good line of thinking.
- 24:52SPEAKER_00: I hadn't thought that far into it, but that makes a ton of sense.
- 24:55SPEAKER_00: Annie, I would love to hear your second round pick.
- 24:58SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 25:00SPEAKER_04: See, I'm gonna take I'm between two just because we're leaving uh we're leaving one out there, but I think I'm gonna stick with my what I've aligned to ahead of time, and that would be Holy Ground.
- 25:13SPEAKER_04: This is I feel like an underrated song, personally.
- 25:17SPEAKER_04: It's one that I've always really enjoyed.
- 25:20SPEAKER_04: I think it's really a fun upbeat, exciting.
- 25:22SPEAKER_04: I actually wanted to do this song as like our walkout song for our wedding.
- 25:27SPEAKER_04: I thought it would have been really fun to do.
- 25:29SPEAKER_04: And also, like again, it's it's underrated.
- 25:32SPEAKER_04: I feel like only true Taylor Swift fans really appreciate this song.
- 25:36SPEAKER_04: And yeah, it's just it's it's an exciting one about her looking back fondly on a relationship as opposed to some of her other songs, which are a little bit more doom and gloom about the relationship.
- 25:47SPEAKER_04: So yeah, uh that's that's my pick, and that's why.
- 25:50SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I mean, it's it's a song that makes you want to get up and dance.
- 25:54SPEAKER_02: It's it's literally in the lyrics.
- 25:56SPEAKER_02: It just makes you want to dance.
- 25:58SPEAKER_02: It it's like in the original album thinking, it's a nice uh upbeat change of pace in that back half of the album.
- 26:06SPEAKER_02: That is that is there's a couple songs nearby that are sort of downers.
- 26:11SPEAKER_02: So so yeah, no, I had a first round grade on on Holy Ground.
- 26:15SPEAKER_02: It was actually number two on my board.
- 26:18SPEAKER_02: I was really hoping that it would get back to me uh here, but with with this brain drafted next to me, there was no way.
- 26:26SPEAKER_00: Annie, we talked pre-show about how we might have different boards for red.
- 26:29SPEAKER_00: We might have like just based on conversations in the past, we thought we might appreciate different songs.
- 26:34SPEAKER_00: I had this song as the one I was deciding between with with with my last pick.
- 26:40SPEAKER_00: So I I completely agree on the dancing part.
- 26:43SPEAKER_00: It's impossible to hear this song and not at least tap your toes and bop around your seat a little bit.
- 26:48SPEAKER_00: It's such a good one.
- 26:49SPEAKER_00: If you want to just full-fledged dance, stop what you're doing and dance, go right ahead too.
- 26:53SPEAKER_00: I believe, though, it's worth pointing out, you guys are the only wedding I've been to, potentially the best wedding I've ever been to, by the way.
- 27:00SPEAKER_00: In large part, we had a 30-minute Taylor Swift rock block where we just got Taylor after Taylor, and the DJ did such a good job in cutting the songs up in a way.
- 27:09SPEAKER_00: But I believe Holy Ground was part of it, and I think I danced my ass off.
- 27:12SPEAKER_00: I think that's safe to say.
- 27:13SPEAKER_00: It was certainly part of it.
- 27:14SPEAKER_04: It was, I record, yeah.
- 27:16SPEAKER_04: So that was when, again, I think it was a decision between like, do we walk out to this song or is it part of the mix?
- 27:22SPEAKER_04: And the it obviously landed in the mix, um, but I I did not want it to get left off the list at all.
- 27:28SPEAKER_04: Like, I was like, this one has to be somewhere in the party, and so I was happy that it made it into the the mix.
- 27:34SPEAKER_00: And as was I, as was I.
- 27:36SPEAKER_00: Yes, as just a beer-drinking guest, yes.
- 27:41SPEAKER_03: MC, it's over to you for two.
- 27:43SPEAKER_02: All right, well, like I said, I was really hoping for holy ground there.
- 27:48SPEAKER_02: Um so I am for my first pick, the the uh final pick of the second round.
- 27:56SPEAKER_02: I am going to take Begin Again.
- 27:59SPEAKER_02: That is the is it the final song on the no, it's not.
- 28:03SPEAKER_04: Well, there's deluxe track.
- 28:05SPEAKER_02: So it's a final song song, uh, final song on the OG OG album.
- 28:11SPEAKER_02: Great, great song to take it home.
- 28:13SPEAKER_02: I actually didn't realize it was the last one there.
- 28:15SPEAKER_02: It's the second uh single that came out from Red, which was a little bit surprising to me looking back at it.
- 28:21SPEAKER_02: I don't remember that at all.
- 28:23SPEAKER_02: Me neither, but I do remember this song being being popular at the time.
- 28:28SPEAKER_02: It's a beautiful, beautiful ballad, uh, gives a uh a slightly happier vibe with still low-key sound, a little bit of an acoustic sound there.
- 28:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah, like Annie mentioned, Holy Ground, you know, is a way of her looking at a relationship positively.
- 28:44SPEAKER_02: This is sort of in in the same vein, having a really positive encounter or date or meetup after having been scorned from uh from a previous lover of sorts.
- 28:54SPEAKER_02: So begin again is one that when when the album first came out, I was listening to constantly, and uh I love this song.
- 29:01SPEAKER_02: I still do listen to it constantly.
- 29:03SPEAKER_04: I think that's a great pick.
- 29:04SPEAKER_04: I also love this song.
- 29:05SPEAKER_04: I think I forgot how much I love this song because it's like not even on my list, but I like am kind of upset about it.
- 29:11SPEAKER_04: But it's gone now, so it's alright.
- 29:14SPEAKER_04: This is a this is a great song.
- 29:15SPEAKER_04: It's another one that like kind of just like makes you feel good as you're listening to it.
- 29:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I actually had this one circled for my next when it came back to me.
- 29:23SPEAKER_00: MC, I thought this one would sneak back, and you of course, or you're too sharp for that trick.
- 29:29SPEAKER_00: I love this one.
- 29:30SPEAKER_00: It's got this subtle little mandolin and banjo that keeps some of those country roots alive going throughout, too.
- 29:36SPEAKER_00: But it's it's a mature perspective for Taylor to take in the songwriting too.
- 29:40SPEAKER_00: And on a Wednesday in a cafe, I mean yeah, yeah, it's just great, it's great.
- 29:45SPEAKER_00: And I will say one minor problem with the song.
- 29:48SPEAKER_00: I don't know if it was it the music video, but the cafe that is referenced in this song, I do believe it turns out to be a bit of a stinker, no, in Paris.
- 29:56SPEAKER_00: That's right.
- 29:57SPEAKER_02: I forgot about that.
- 29:58SPEAKER_02: And we it was a blind spot for us.
- 29:59SPEAKER_02: We didn't, did you go?
- 30:01SPEAKER_02: I did, I did go.
- 30:02SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 30:04SPEAKER_04: You talked about it.
- 30:04SPEAKER_04: I remember now that we're now that we're bringing it up, I remember in Paris you mentioning it and just being like, Oh my gosh, I'm a bad fan.
- 30:13SPEAKER_04: I didn't even know that that's it.
- 30:15SPEAKER_00: No, yeah, well, it turns out you dodged a bullet.
- 30:17SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it was not anything worth saying.
- 30:20SPEAKER_00: So that that's the only that's the only gripe I have with this pick, and it's not anything to do with the pick itself.
- 30:25SPEAKER_04: So perfect.
- 30:26SPEAKER_00: Well, it looked the part anyway.
- 30:28SPEAKER_02: It looks like a good cafe.
- 30:29SPEAKER_02: Looks great.
- 30:30SPEAKER_02: Looks great.
- 30:31SPEAKER_02: And great and good so good solid music video.
- 30:34SPEAKER_02: Uh music videos are are you know all the rage at this point.
- 30:39SPEAKER_02: I forgot how many of these songs have uh video associated with it.
- 30:44SPEAKER_00: It's basically a movie, it's a film based on how many videos are in this album.
- 30:48SPEAKER_02: And I think I think that's gonna lead me in into my next one.
- 30:53SPEAKER_02: I was between a couple, neither of which I think are getting back to me, but I think I I have to go with everything has changed with the uh that's not what you thought I was gonna do.
- 31:02SPEAKER_01: That's not what I thought you were gonna do.
- 31:04SPEAKER_02: Um you thought I was gonna do the other one that I was deciding between.
- 31:07SPEAKER_02: Everything has changed with uh featuring Ed Sheeran, another one off of the uh original album.
- 31:13SPEAKER_02: A great feature uh by Ed here.
- 31:16SPEAKER_02: He was he was an up-and-comer at the time, I think just coming off of his uh uh what's the orange album?
- 31:23SPEAKER_02: Is that is that audition plus or whatever?
- 31:26SPEAKER_02: Yeah, adds.
- 31:28SPEAKER_02: So yeah, no, uh a great song.
- 31:30SPEAKER_02: The these two are incredible together.
- 31:33SPEAKER_02: And uh just listening to it back this week, the one thing I I really liked and and kind of picked out.
- 31:40SPEAKER_02: A lot of times, Taylor, when she has a feature or has a song with with other people, she's she's feeding, she's she's dishing the rock often.
- 31:50SPEAKER_02: Not this time.
- 31:51SPEAKER_02: She she sings 90% of this with Ed either in the background, he might have two, three lines of his own, but this is her song, and it's it's a true feature.
- 32:02SPEAKER_02: So she's she's not sharing, she's getting her Thanksgiving plate, and and there's no sides for Ed Sheeran.
- 32:09SPEAKER_02: But he and the what little he takes a bite of, he he truly delivers on this.
- 32:15SPEAKER_02: So this was one I I was thinking might not get back to me, so um had to scoop it up here.
- 32:21SPEAKER_04: I have to disagree with some of the takes on that.
- 32:24SPEAKER_04: I agree that it's an incredible song, but like the are you getting this confused with his his part in run?
- 32:32SPEAKER_04: Because he does he has a whole verse in this song.
- 32:35SPEAKER_02: No, sounds like somebody who hasn't listened to it in a little bit.
- 32:38SPEAKER_00: Okay, let me say I I I don't want to come in between the couple here.
- 32:43SPEAKER_00: I would have sworn that Ed Shearan has a verse in this song.
- 32:46SPEAKER_00: I believe the second verse is his.
- 32:48SPEAKER_00: I think he does.
- 32:50SPEAKER_00: I thought it was him taking the ball for just a bit, and then he does.
- 32:53SPEAKER_00: I thought Collins was right in the latter parts of the song.
- 32:55SPEAKER_00: It's really just Ed playing back up.
- 32:57SPEAKER_02: I think he has about two lines in that second verse.
- 33:00SPEAKER_02: I I could be wrong, but I listened to it today.
- 33:03SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 33:03SPEAKER_04: I won't I won't speak on it any further or try to sing it to remember, but um Yeah, we can't get taken down for any copyrights with that voice, Annie.
- 33:11SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 33:12SPEAKER_04: Oh wow, thank you.
- 33:13SPEAKER_02: Um there's only two lines right here, and all my walls still tall, painted blue, but I'll take them down, things down and open up the door for you.
- 33:20SPEAKER_02: And that's all he's saying.
- 33:21SPEAKER_00: That's all he says by himself.
- 33:24SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 33:24SPEAKER_00: Hey, listen, when I'm wrong, I t I toss a hand up immediately, and I would like to do that.
- 33:28SPEAKER_04: You know what?
- 33:29SPEAKER_00: Hand up.
- 33:30SPEAKER_00: We're hand up folks.
- 33:32SPEAKER_00: I I let me tell you this though.
- 33:34SPEAKER_00: A powerful fucking two lines.
- 33:36SPEAKER_00: A powerful two lines.
- 33:37SPEAKER_00: Oh, very much so.
- 33:38SPEAKER_02: I that's what I said.
- 33:39SPEAKER_02: You did say that.
- 33:40SPEAKER_02: The the when he shows up, he shows up.
- 33:43SPEAKER_03: Nail on the head is what you did.
- 33:44SPEAKER_03: You hit the nail on the head at the same time.
- 33:46SPEAKER_04: And listen, let's not take sounds like we didn't listen to the song today.
- 33:50SPEAKER_04: Okay, fine.
- 33:51SPEAKER_03: I think we just moved remember, yeah.
- 33:52SPEAKER_03: No, we didn't do our draft day research, which hey, listen, he's a fierce competitor.
- 33:57SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I do think though, those lines they carry a lot of weight because he I would have thought it was pretty equal in a group project between those two, just looking back on it.
- 34:06SPEAKER_00: Haven't heard it in a while.
- 34:07SPEAKER_00: You touched on the music video, outstanding, adorable music video, fantastic.
- 34:12SPEAKER_02: I I forgot to mention actually, I touched on it before I made the pick, but yeah, the the the little red-headed kid, yeah, that uh incredible music video.
- 34:21SPEAKER_00: Little red-headed kid is absolutely priceless.
- 34:24SPEAKER_00: Uh what's he up to?
- 34:27SPEAKER_01: Where's he though?
- 34:28SPEAKER_00: No, it's a great pick.
- 34:29SPEAKER_00: I love this song.
- 34:30SPEAKER_00: I thought I was gonna be another one here, Collins.
- 34:31SPEAKER_00: I thought I was gonna be higher on than the consensus, but turns out you're right there with me.
- 34:36SPEAKER_02: So, okay, so where were you gonna take it then?
- 34:38SPEAKER_00: Uh when I I was in a group right now deciding between the two you just picked and two others.
- 34:43SPEAKER_02: So there's four songs I'm kind of navigating, and those were two of them.
- 34:46SPEAKER_02: Okay, well, good.
- 34:47SPEAKER_02: That makes me happy that it it probably wasn't coming back.
- 34:50SPEAKER_04: I have a med bad too.
- 34:52SPEAKER_02: You know I'm that guy.
- 34:53SPEAKER_02: Of course, of course.
- 34:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 34:55SPEAKER_04: Um, I have a process question.
- 34:57SPEAKER_04: So it'll be you next, right?
- 34:59SPEAKER_00: It's you next.
- 35:00SPEAKER_04: Oh no, it's me.
- 35:01SPEAKER_04: Oh, that's right.
- 35:02SPEAKER_04: Me next, and then you get two.
- 35:05SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 35:05SPEAKER_04: And then it's back to me.
- 35:07SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 35:08SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 35:09SPEAKER_00: So you're always gonna be in the middle of two for Michael, two for me.
- 35:13SPEAKER_04: Okay, perfect.
- 35:14SPEAKER_04: Okay, good to know.
- 35:16SPEAKER_00: Which when we put it that way, it seems like you're getting shafted picks, but I promise the math does work out.
- 35:20SPEAKER_04: No, no, no.
- 35:22SPEAKER_04: I'm trying to strategize a little bit here, so that's that is helpful information.
- 35:26SPEAKER_00: It's smart to play a little defense.
- 35:28SPEAKER_04: That's right.
- 35:28SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 35:29SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna take the the title track here and go with red.
- 35:35SPEAKER_04: Obviously, this is the name of the game here.
- 35:39SPEAKER_04: When she describes the album as a whole, she says obviously, a lot of the feelings that she was she was working through while she was writing this album came up as red, whether it was anger, happy, red was the primary color.
- 35:55SPEAKER_04: So gotta love it.
- 35:57SPEAKER_04: I I do also just think that this is an excellent song.
- 36:01SPEAKER_04: It's another good bop.
- 36:03SPEAKER_04: It's a non-skip for me when I listen to the album.
- 36:07SPEAKER_00: I 100% agree, Annie.
- 36:09SPEAKER_00: This was my next pick after you guys just completely wiped me out.
- 36:13SPEAKER_00: I love red, and she loves.
- 36:16SPEAKER_00: I really going back and listening to this one, preparing.
- 36:19SPEAKER_00: I did do a little preparation, Collins.
- 36:20SPEAKER_00: I got this one in.
- 36:22SPEAKER_00: I will say, knowing now some of the songs she's put out in recent years, boy, does our girl love a color analogy.
- 36:29SPEAKER_00: She loves mentioning colors a ton of times in a ton of different colors.
- 36:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 36:33SPEAKER_02: Sean, that's what I was gonna say.
- 36:35SPEAKER_02: This this song and this album was sort of the genesis of exactly that her associating feelings with colors.
- 36:44SPEAKER_02: Like she's she did it a lot in midnights.
- 36:48SPEAKER_02: She did it a lot in Lover.
- 36:49SPEAKER_04: Daylight.
- 36:50SPEAKER_02: Yeah, lover.
- 36:51SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
- 36:52SPEAKER_02: So and then Blue was pretty recent song, Pink Clouding, or whatever it is.
- 36:57SPEAKER_02: Yep, exactly.
- 36:58SPEAKER_02: Blue was a pretty consistent theme in Midnight.
- 37:01SPEAKER_02: So, like, this was like I said, the first time that that she had really dove into that.
- 37:07SPEAKER_02: I totally agree with this pick.
- 37:09SPEAKER_02: I love it.
- 37:10SPEAKER_02: Love this song.
- 37:11SPEAKER_02: Great title track, among her best title tracks throughout her uh discography, and and it was a uh tier two choice for me, certainly.
- 37:21SPEAKER_00: Yep, I was you guys really wiped me out.
- 37:24SPEAKER_00: I'm left with just a few.
- 37:26SPEAKER_00: And there's one I really don't want to make the pick of because I have its counterpart already.
- 37:31SPEAKER_00: I don't know that I want to.
- 37:33SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's sort of a that's sort of a trump card that the two of us have in our back pocket to kind of I know.
- 37:39SPEAKER_03: Well, one of you two have her.
- 37:40SPEAKER_03: You're not a team.
- 37:42SPEAKER_03: I guess you're right.
- 37:44SPEAKER_00: That would not be a fair fight.
- 37:45SPEAKER_00: All right, I'm up and I think I'm going back to the vault, folks.
- 37:49SPEAKER_00: I'm I'm a robber.
- 37:50SPEAKER_00: I'm going back to the vault, and I'm taking two of my girls with this one.
- 37:55SPEAKER_00: Nothing new, featuring Phoebe Bridgers.
- 37:58SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 37:58SPEAKER_00: I love this song.
- 38:00SPEAKER_00: I love this song.
- 38:02SPEAKER_04: That's where I feel like our our tastes start to differ.
- 38:06SPEAKER_04: I don't I I don't dislike this song by any means, but I just know how big of a Phoebe fan you are, and I just don't tend to share that same um passion for her.
- 38:14SPEAKER_04: Again, not to say I dislike by any means, but just not as big of a fan as our as our gracious host.
- 38:21SPEAKER_00: Well, that that's completely fine.
- 38:22SPEAKER_00: What I like about this song though, I also will say I don't know when she wrote it.
- 38:26SPEAKER_00: There's some conspiracies out there about the vault tracks being written, not maybe at the time she said they were written.
- 38:31SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 38:31SPEAKER_00: If she wrote this one back in 2012, boy, is she a smart cookie?
- 38:36SPEAKER_00: And I know I know she is, but boy, she's she's really gifted if she wrote this one.
- 38:41SPEAKER_00: Then the perspective in this song, I love the line: how could a person know everything at 18 and nothing at 22?
- 38:46SPEAKER_00: If you've ever been to college, that rings completely true.
- 38:49SPEAKER_00: You go into college, you think you know it all, you're having the time of your life, and then bam, you're tossed back out in the real world and you don't have a Scooby-doo what's going on.
- 38:57SPEAKER_00: I love this song for a lot of reasons.
- 38:59SPEAKER_00: Also, a full Phoebe verse.
- 39:00SPEAKER_00: We can agree on that.
- 39:01SPEAKER_00: Phoebe gets to run football a little bit in this.
- 39:04SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah.
- 39:05SPEAKER_02: No, yeah, I I agree with my wife here.
- 39:07SPEAKER_02: I I'm a I'm slightly lower on this one.
- 39:10SPEAKER_02: I I think you probably could have gotten it much later, but if you that if that's the that's your pick, you gotta go and get it.
- 39:17SPEAKER_02: I do love Phoebe and I think she sounds amazing in this.
- 39:21SPEAKER_02: Uh, it's just there's so many heavy hitters that I I likely would have gone a different direction here.
- 39:27SPEAKER_02: But again, if that's if that's your guy, that's your guy.
- 39:31SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it is my guy, and I'm happy.
- 39:32SPEAKER_00: I don't care about the I I knew I could have waited a little bit longer, but I didn't want there to be a scenario where this one wasn't on my team.
- 39:39SPEAKER_00: So yeah, I needed it.
- 39:41SPEAKER_00: That's totally fine.
- 39:42SPEAKER_00: I I am gonna take another one.
- 39:44SPEAKER_00: I don't know what you guys think about this song at all, but I love this song, and it was it reminded me when I was listening back to this album recently just how much I love it.
- 39:53SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna take the seventh track, I almost do.
- 39:56SPEAKER_00: Yeah, nice.
- 39:58SPEAKER_00: I almost do.
- 39:59SPEAKER_00: A really pretty guitar in this song, and then when she comes back in for that final, and I almost do, you could just feel the yearning in it.
- 40:06SPEAKER_00: I love this song.
- 40:08SPEAKER_02: Absolutely.
- 40:09SPEAKER_02: And Sean, what what you said about you kind of forget about this one, and then you you listen to the to the album again, and you're like, oh my god, that's why that's why it's my favorite album, and probably the person sitting to my left as well.
- 40:24SPEAKER_02: Uh it's there's just so many here that are just beautiful songs and so well written and and just sound amazing.
- 40:32SPEAKER_02: And this this is one of them.
- 40:33SPEAKER_02: I I love this song too.
- 40:35SPEAKER_04: Some some people close to me in my in my Taylor Swift circle argue that this is their all too well.
- 40:42SPEAKER_04: They actually like prefer this one to to all too well, and they hold them, you know, up on the same pedestal.
- 40:49SPEAKER_00: Um well, Annie, just to interrupt quickly.
- 40:51SPEAKER_00: We're gonna need voter turnout from those folks.
- 40:54SPEAKER_00: Just so make sure they turn out to the polls.
- 40:58SPEAKER_04: That's right.
- 40:58SPEAKER_04: That's right.
- 40:59SPEAKER_04: We need to do some advertising here.
- 41:03SPEAKER_04: Yeah, great song.
- 41:04SPEAKER_04: Great song.
- 41:04SPEAKER_04: I love it.
- 41:05SPEAKER_04: I I agree with all of uh the comments made already.
- 41:09SPEAKER_04: No new comments from me.
- 41:10SPEAKER_00: So, Annie, you could kick us off with your fourth pick.
- 41:13SPEAKER_00: That was my fourth round pick.
- 41:15SPEAKER_00: This is yours.
- 41:16SPEAKER_04: Okay, fantastic.
- 41:17SPEAKER_04: This song has been out there far too long, but I put a little strategy behind my choice because I thought Sean would not pick it.
- 41:25SPEAKER_04: And I'm going to go all too well 10-minute version.
- 41:29SPEAKER_04: I don't know that I'm gonna say a ton different from what we have already said about all too well, other than the fact that, you know, this is what she claims to be the OG version of this song.
- 41:42SPEAKER_04: She just kind of was in a riff session where it it she just went on for the 10 minutes or or so.
- 41:49SPEAKER_04: I personally will hold the unpopular opinion that I don't think that the original version was 10 minutes, and I think she like maybe said it in an interview, like, oh, that yeah, there's a 10-minute version of this song that you know I I had to cut back.
- 42:05SPEAKER_04: And I think then she kind of caught herself a little bit.
- 42:11SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 42:12SPEAKER_02: The last minute's fluff.
- 42:14SPEAKER_02: And I love the fluff.
- 42:15SPEAKER_02: I think it's really good fluff, but even the a 10-minute version sounds a lot better than an eight and a half minute version.
- 42:20SPEAKER_02: So I don't blame her for that.
- 42:22SPEAKER_04: Exactly, exactly.
- 42:23SPEAKER_04: So uh a great song.
- 42:25SPEAKER_04: I love the um the prominence it's made in her live performances.
- 42:31SPEAKER_04: I I love that it was a staple part of the Ares tour and um and it it's a great one.
- 42:37SPEAKER_04: I actually, unlike you two, I I do prefer this one.
- 42:41SPEAKER_04: Um, this is my favorite version of All Too Well, and when I listen, uh to be fair, I haven't listened to the original, original All Too Well in a long time, but but I I do like this one now.
- 42:51SPEAKER_04: I'm used to the change up in this one, so when I listen to the old version, I'm like waiting for the the differences.
- 42:57SPEAKER_02: Wait, waiting for the toss in the car keys.
- 43:00SPEAKER_04: Yes, exactly.
- 43:01SPEAKER_02: Yeah, no, this I mean the the song, especially the 10-minute version, has taken on like a life of its own.
- 43:08SPEAKER_02: It's a it's a cultural phenomenon of sorts.
- 43:11SPEAKER_02: Uh you didn't even mention the short film, which is amazing.
- 43:16SPEAKER_02: So you kind of have that as it by proxy as well.
- 43:20SPEAKER_02: So uh yeah, you know, it's there's not much that needs to be said.
- 43:25SPEAKER_02: It's uh it's iconic.
- 43:26SPEAKER_00: I yeah, I won't share any additional notes because I don't have anything smart to add.
- 43:31SPEAKER_00: I will say Annie's list is pretty scary when you go treacherous, holy ground, red, and all too well 10.
- 43:39SPEAKER_00: We might need to start one of those political ad campaigns.
- 43:43SPEAKER_00: Smear.
- 43:44SPEAKER_00: Yeah, where yeah, smear campaign.
- 43:46SPEAKER_00: Where was Annie on this date?
- 43:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah, these sort of things.
- 43:49SPEAKER_00: We might need to get one of those up and running.
- 43:51SPEAKER_00: Hopefully, she doesn't land on the plane, but she's off to a good start.
- 43:53SPEAKER_00: She's driving the price of the eggs up, yeah, and things yeah.
- 43:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 43:57SPEAKER_00: Um inflation was here when Annie took over.
- 44:02SPEAKER_04: That's you know what?
- 44:04SPEAKER_04: It's only fair.
- 44:05SPEAKER_04: It's my favorite album.
- 44:06SPEAKER_04: I mean, come on.
- 44:07SPEAKER_03: That's true.
- 44:08SPEAKER_02: MC for two.
- 44:10SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 44:11SPEAKER_04: Where's he gonna get?
- 44:12SPEAKER_02: I didn't get this far in my mocks.
- 44:14SPEAKER_04: Who didn't do their homework?
- 44:16SPEAKER_03: He didn't get to the halfway through this mock.
- 44:19SPEAKER_02: There's a uh there's there's one out there that I that I had a tier two grade on still, so I'm gonna go ahead and go in that direction.
- 44:26SPEAKER_02: It's a vault song.
- 44:28SPEAKER_02: You want to talk about music videos?
- 44:30SPEAKER_02: How's this one for you?
- 44:31SPEAKER_02: I bet you think about me, Taylor's version, featuring Chris Stapleton.
- 44:36SPEAKER_02: Great, great song.
- 44:37SPEAKER_02: Chris Stapleton is tremendous in it.
- 44:40SPEAKER_02: Also, another one that Taylor takes all the shine on and and doesn't let him steal the show.
- 44:45SPEAKER_02: Sort of a gut wrencher.
- 44:47SPEAKER_02: There's some incredible, incredible diss lines here directed toward one could presume Jake Jillen Hall.
- 44:54SPEAKER_02: Things things like The Million Dollar Couch and what have you.
- 44:57SPEAKER_02: So uh yeah, this was a great one.
- 44:59SPEAKER_02: When it came out in 21, it was huge, it was everywhere.
- 45:02SPEAKER_02: The the video's incredible.
- 45:04SPEAKER_02: So, like I said, I had it, I had it in my second tier, so I had to just just go ahead and scoop that up while I was still there.
- 45:10SPEAKER_04: I don't think we've we've mentioned the name Jake Gyllenhaal once on this podcast.
- 45:16SPEAKER_02: I guess we were kind of staying away from speculation and and whatnot, but there's not much speculation as far as all too well and I bet you think about me.
- 45:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 45:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we're also we're we're down for some gossip on the channel.
- 45:31SPEAKER_00: We're not opposed to it.
- 45:32SPEAKER_00: So stir it up if you want to.
- 45:34SPEAKER_00: I'm also not a Jake Jillenhall acting guy because of this beef with Taylor Swift.
- 45:38SPEAKER_00: I went in with a negative mindset, and I have to say, damn it, he's good.
- 45:42SPEAKER_00: He's a good actor.
- 45:43SPEAKER_00: And it pisses me off because I I almost try not to see things he's in, but he he's damn good at his job.
- 45:49SPEAKER_00: I the only gripe I have with this song, I love this song, but my god, could we get a more Chris version?
- 45:54SPEAKER_00: Like we got the more Juana Del Rey version of Snow on the Beach.
- 45:58SPEAKER_00: This guy, he is a voice of a generation from a male perspective, and he's singing Back Up Harmony.
- 46:03SPEAKER_00: I mean, hey, Taylor, I I know it's your show, and listen, we're here to see it, but I I don't think a verse would have killed them.
- 46:10SPEAKER_02: True.
- 46:11SPEAKER_02: Couple lines like she threw to Ed on the OG.
- 46:14SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I I agree that that wouldn't hurt, but I'm I'm appreciative of the stapleton that we do get rather than wishing for more.
- 46:21SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 46:22SPEAKER_02: It's fair.
- 46:22SPEAKER_02: It's a great song.
- 46:24SPEAKER_04: Also worth noting that, and again, another name that I don't know if we're saying anymore, but Blake Lively directed this music video.
- 46:32SPEAKER_04: So kind of a tough one if they're not friends anymore.
- 46:34SPEAKER_04: But but great music video.
- 46:36SPEAKER_04: I mean, again, another one who is possibly a crazy person, but is really good at her job.
- 46:41SPEAKER_00: So yeah, yeah.
- 46:42SPEAKER_00: It's it's like when I turn on my favorite movie of all time, Goodwill Hunting, and it's the opening credits say a Weinstein production.
- 46:48SPEAKER_00: It's like, oh God, Lord.
- 46:51SPEAKER_00: We don't like that.
- 46:53SPEAKER_03: But it's a damn good movie.
- 46:55SPEAKER_04: Yeah, tough one.
- 46:57SPEAKER_03: Do the 10-second skip on that part.
- 47:00SPEAKER_03: Can't be Harvey, can't it?
- 47:01SPEAKER_03: No, no, it's his brother.
- 47:04SPEAKER_00: It's good, John.
- 47:05SPEAKER_01: Oh my goodness.
- 47:06SPEAKER_00: All right, Colin.
- 47:07SPEAKER_00: Start us off around five.
- 47:08SPEAKER_02: Okay, round five.
- 47:10SPEAKER_02: Let's see.
- 47:12SPEAKER_02: Uh, it could go a few different directions here.
- 47:15SPEAKER_02: Um, I you know what?
- 47:18SPEAKER_02: I'll protect myself against a uh a potential run-on pop bops, and I'm gonna just go ahead and get my favorite of the ones, um, and that is 22.
- 47:28SPEAKER_02: Uh, too, so just this just pop ops.
- 47:32SPEAKER_02: Just a an all-time fun song.
- 47:36SPEAKER_02: This song's a blast.
- 47:37SPEAKER_02: Uh, you know, a a girl gang bop.
- 47:40SPEAKER_02: This was once upon a time my go-to karaoke song.
- 47:44SPEAKER_02: Shout out to Pub Webb at on Cecil B.
- 47:47SPEAKER_02: Moore Avenue up in North Broad, or North Philly, I should say.
- 47:51SPEAKER_02: But yeah, the a great karaoke song if you can if you can manage it like I can.
- 47:56SPEAKER_02: But um 22.
- 47:58SPEAKER_02: My favorite of the three uh Max Martin Shellback songs, as mentioned.
- 48:04SPEAKER_02: And uh, like I said, I was maybe a little bit worried that they might start flying off.
- 48:08SPEAKER_02: So I gotta go get my 22.
- 48:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah, game strategy-wise, I think that's pretty smart because at a certain point they were gonna go.
- 48:15SPEAKER_00: I didn't want to be the one to start that run, but uh, you have to tip your cap to 22.
- 48:21SPEAKER_00: It's one of those songs when it comes out, you're all in for bopping around to it and stuff.
- 48:25SPEAKER_00: But now it's tough to go back and listen to it in the same spirit that we once did, but it doesn't take away from its greatness.
- 48:31SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but if it comes on at the bar or at a wedding or or something like that, you're you're you're tapping your fingers, of course.
- 48:38SPEAKER_03: Yeah, or tapping your two feet, I should say.
- 48:40SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 48:41SPEAKER_04: I think I'm going uh I could probably let this one sit for a little while, but I don't want to.
- 48:48SPEAKER_04: Um, I'm gonna pick Run.
- 48:50SPEAKER_04: This is another featuring Ed.
- 48:52SPEAKER_04: It is from the vault, of course.
- 48:55SPEAKER_04: And I think there is I don't know if this is publicly said or if it's speculation, but I think Ed and Taylor wrote a lot of songs during that time.
- 49:04SPEAKER_04: And I thought I saw somewhere that Ed actually referred to this one, but Taylor went the way that she did with everything has changed.
- 49:11SPEAKER_04: So yeah, I I really enjoyed this one when it came out on The Vault.
- 49:16SPEAKER_04: No real edition here.
- 49:17SPEAKER_04: Uh this is one though, I guess that I think Ed is kind of shorted a little bit more on what all he's got to share with the song, but maybe that's kind of why I thought you were I thought you were referencing run earlier.
- 49:32SPEAKER_04: But yeah, love it.
- 49:34SPEAKER_00: So Annie gets red and run.
- 49:36SPEAKER_00: She's she's all over the three-letter R words.
- 49:38SPEAKER_00: But this one, I I love this one.
- 49:40SPEAKER_00: I really do like run.
- 49:41SPEAKER_00: I of course I'm I like I said I'm an ed guy, so anytime we get Ed Sharon on the song, I'm gonna enjoy it.
- 49:46SPEAKER_00: And I think it's just a nice song.
- 49:47SPEAKER_00: It doesn't necessarily have the highest of highs or lowest of lows, but it's just a nice, pleasant song to have on.
- 49:52SPEAKER_02: Definitely.
- 49:53SPEAKER_02: Yeah, a great tune.
- 49:55SPEAKER_02: It was right right there with these pop bops for me, as well as considering that.
- 50:00SPEAKER_00: So yeah, love this song.
- 50:01SPEAKER_00: I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place here.
- 50:03SPEAKER_00: I'm really fighting the urge for the pop bops, so I'm gonna I'm gonna avoid it.
- 50:07SPEAKER_00: But I'm gonna go with Mr.
- 50:10SPEAKER_00: Chasing Cars, Mr.
- 50:12SPEAKER_00: Lightbody.
- 50:13SPEAKER_00: Nice, give me the last time.
- 50:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I I love Taylor with a deep male vocal accompanying her.
- 50:20SPEAKER_00: Sure.
- 50:21SPEAKER_00: And this one really stands out.
- 50:23SPEAKER_00: This is another one when you go back to it, you're like, damn, this is another good one.
- 50:25SPEAKER_00: It's one of those on red that kind of gets lost in the sauce of 30 songs.
- 50:29SPEAKER_00: But I really like the last time.
- 50:31SPEAKER_04: This is an excellent song.
- 50:32SPEAKER_04: I agree that this one gets lost, but when it when it appears and it pops up on on your Spotify, it's like shoot, this is a this is a great song.
- 50:43SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, those two sound incredible together.
- 50:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah, she's meant to sing with uh a deep male vocal.
- 50:48SPEAKER_00: It sometimes it feels like because I love all the bona ver Justin Vernon stuff as well, international.
- 50:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so glad to have the last time.
- 50:56SPEAKER_00: And then to start us off in the sixth round, I'm gonna go back to the vault and I'm gonna take Comeback Be Here.
- 51:04SPEAKER_00: I really love the melody of this song.
- 51:07SPEAKER_00: I I just think there's something about I guess you're in New York today, or I guess you're in London today when she sings that part.
- 51:15SPEAKER_00: I'm absolutely smitten.
- 51:18SPEAKER_00: This is this is when the feeling sinks in.
- 51:21SPEAKER_00: I don't want to oh, just it's it's so good.
- 51:23SPEAKER_00: I really think she crushed the vault on this record.
- 51:25SPEAKER_02: And a lot of my not a vault song, by the way.
- 51:28SPEAKER_00: Oh, is it a deluxe?
- 51:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's that's okay.
- 51:31SPEAKER_00: It wasn't on the original track listing.
- 51:33SPEAKER_02: So yeah, they did come out in 2012, and it wasn't for 2012.
- 51:37SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 51:38SPEAKER_02: But but your point stands it great song.
- 51:40SPEAKER_02: And I I mean that the if you're sensing a theme, I like this the 2012 version the best of this one as well.
- 51:49SPEAKER_02: But yeah, no, it's this that's a good pick for sure.
- 51:53SPEAKER_02: I love that.
- 51:54SPEAKER_02: Thank you.
- 51:55SPEAKER_04: Nothing to add, but that's a great song.
- 51:57SPEAKER_04: I think I'm gonna take now.
- 51:59SPEAKER_04: I don't know if this is a popular choice by any means, but I'm gonna go with a deluxe track, track 17, The Moment I Knew.
- 52:10SPEAKER_04: This song, I don't know what I was going through at the time, but I feel like I always put this song on as like sad girl song.
- 52:19SPEAKER_04: If I was feeling in my bag, if you will, I would put this one on.
- 52:24SPEAKER_04: I think it kind of holds it.
- 52:25SPEAKER_04: Obviously, it is telling a very specific story about Jake Jill and all, allegedly.
- 52:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah, allegedly, allegedly.
- 52:35SPEAKER_04: Her 21st birthday, which is then depicted very beautifully in the all-too well 10-minute version video.
- 52:42SPEAKER_04: So again, I don't know what I was going through, but you know, I I really resonated with the song at the time.
- 52:48SPEAKER_00: Michael not showing up for birthdays, tough to see.
- 52:50SPEAKER_04: Well, I did 2012.
- 52:52SPEAKER_04: We weren't, didn't even know.
- 52:53SPEAKER_02: But I did actually we could cut this from the podcast potentially if we want to.
- 52:58SPEAKER_02: I did actually pull this exact move on your 21st birthday.
- 53:03SPEAKER_02: Do you remember?
- 53:04SPEAKER_02: We uh but I I wound up I wound up surprising you and coming back.
- 53:08SPEAKER_02: Boyle, I was with I was with you.
- 53:10SPEAKER_02: We were in Atlantic City, and I wound up leaving like early that afternoon to get back to go celebrate your 21st with you.
- 53:20SPEAKER_03: But it wasn't it was like up until then, it was a true moment I knew situation.
- 53:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah, like I'm gonna cut this up just to make you sound like a prick.
- 53:30SPEAKER_00: I'm not gonna include any context.
- 53:32SPEAKER_00: I'm just gonna say I skipped your 20.
- 53:33SPEAKER_00: I put on the record, you said I pulled the moment I knew.
- 53:37SPEAKER_04: I pulled that your 21st birthday.
- 53:39SPEAKER_03: I did that exactly.
- 53:40SPEAKER_04: Wow, and we're married, so it works.
- 53:43SPEAKER_03: Hey, look, listen, if you guys are in the market, that's what you gotta do.
- 53:46SPEAKER_03: Just completely blow off a birthday, marriage.
- 53:48SPEAKER_02: Didn't work for Taylor, but no, I I do I do love this song, I think it's a great pick.
- 53:54SPEAKER_02: The soft and slow verse, and then it just drops into it.
- 53:58SPEAKER_02: It was like slow motion, you know.
- 54:01SPEAKER_03: Whoa!
- 54:05SPEAKER_04: He's pulling out the carrying all the pod.
- 54:08SPEAKER_03: That was that was decent.
- 54:09SPEAKER_03: He was in the right key.
- 54:10SPEAKER_03: It was all right, MC.
- 54:12SPEAKER_03: Over to you for two.
- 54:13SPEAKER_03: You have three picks left.
- 54:14SPEAKER_03: These are two of them.
- 54:15SPEAKER_02: Three picks left, and we're getting down to the nitty-gritty here.
- 54:22SPEAKER_02: Yes, we are.
- 54:23SPEAKER_02: Go ahead and sell out.
- 54:24SPEAKER_02: Why don't you take another pop pop?
- 54:26SPEAKER_02: I think I've reached my quota, at least, and maybe it maybe Mr.
- 54:29SPEAKER_02: Irrelevant potentially.
- 54:30SPEAKER_02: I have to stay, I have to stay true to myself here, and and this is this is one of my favorite songs to listen to on the album.
- 54:39SPEAKER_02: I'm uh I'm a sad song enthusiast, and it's right there in the title.
- 54:44SPEAKER_02: Sad, beautiful, tragic.
- 54:45SPEAKER_02: It's it's a bit of a hot take.
- 54:47SPEAKER_02: I know it's not everybody's cup of tea.
- 54:50SPEAKER_02: I love it.
- 54:51SPEAKER_02: I eat it up.
- 54:52SPEAKER_02: I I intentionally put it on the in the car often.
- 54:56SPEAKER_02: I I love this song.
- 54:58SPEAKER_02: I think the lyrics are incredible.
- 54:59SPEAKER_02: I think the story is great, and you want to talk about a gut-wrenching bridge.
- 55:05SPEAKER_02: This has got everything you need, all wrapped up in one.
- 55:08SPEAKER_04: This is when I get yelled at for skipping.
- 55:10SPEAKER_00: I'm also a skip, but I can appreciate the the artistry in the song.
- 55:15SPEAKER_00: It is, I would say how I would frame it would be it's a draft-worthy song.
- 55:18SPEAKER_00: It shouldn't be in the list of six that are cut.
- 55:20SPEAKER_00: It's just not one I wanted on my team.
- 55:22SPEAKER_00: I think you're just gonna have a locker room concern.
- 55:24SPEAKER_00: He's really just down in the gumps the whole time of the song.
- 55:26SPEAKER_00: And he's just walking around poking all the other guys, telling him what's going on wrong with his day.
- 55:31SPEAKER_00: And there's a little bit of that going on that you're gonna have to deal with, but in terms of deserving to be drafted, it definitely does.
- 55:36SPEAKER_02: But but Sean, you know me.
- 55:38SPEAKER_02: I'm always after the highest highs and the lowest lows.
- 55:41SPEAKER_02: I got the I got 22 to take us all the way up through the ceiling, through the attic, and then we get down down into the depths of the basement, the dungeon, the doldrums with uh Sad Beautiful Tragic.
- 55:52SPEAKER_02: So that's exactly where I want to be.
- 55:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah, the good thing with this hole is I've been here before.
- 55:59SPEAKER_00: And you know the way out.
- 56:00SPEAKER_00: All right, that's it does deserve to be drafted.
- 56:02SPEAKER_00: And at this point, we're just trying to fill the fill the rosters out.
- 56:05SPEAKER_00: We didn't want to cut half the record, so I don't think there's a ton of great, consensusly great songs left.
- 56:12SPEAKER_00: So MC, what's your seventh round pick?
- 56:15SPEAKER_02: I think so.
- 56:16SPEAKER_02: Now I'm between two.
- 56:18SPEAKER_02: Both both ROGs here.
- 56:22SPEAKER_02: Um, and I think I'm going to go with the lucky one.
- 56:26SPEAKER_02: It's the the track 13, um which you know is is her number.
- 56:31SPEAKER_02: So the 13th track always has a little bit of a little bit of pull as far as her mind goes.
- 56:38SPEAKER_02: But this is just a nice upbeat tune.
- 56:41SPEAKER_02: I forget, uh now this is this is bad podcasting.
- 56:44SPEAKER_02: I forget what they say that it's about.
- 56:46SPEAKER_00: Is it I luckily, MC, you've got a host here that loves this song.
- 56:50SPEAKER_00: And this song is about Joni Mitchell, is what people do.
- 56:54SPEAKER_00: That's right.
- 56:54SPEAKER_02: That's right.
- 56:55SPEAKER_02: I knew it was like a there was a star of some sort going to it.
- 56:57SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 56:58SPEAKER_00: So Joni famously became really famous as one of the best singer-songwriters in the world, and then just completely left celebrity life.
- 57:04SPEAKER_00: She shut down, she went private, and really started to just cherish the moments of people around her.
- 57:10SPEAKER_00: And the album itself, Joni's most popular album is Blue with just a self-portrait of her on it.
- 57:15SPEAKER_00: This album is red from Taylor with obviously a self-portrait of Taylor.
- 57:18SPEAKER_00: There's some similarities there.
- 57:19SPEAKER_00: Taylor talks about her appreciation for Joni a lot, and I think this song, most people assume it's about that, about her because the of the lyrics she chose the Rose Garden over Madison Square.
- 57:30SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 57:30SPEAKER_00: And that's that's sort of the oh, what this song's about.
- 57:33SPEAKER_00: And I think it's such a beautiful, cute little song.
- 57:35SPEAKER_00: And I got it as my surprise song in Dallas.
- 57:38SPEAKER_00: So I was uh I was really hoping to get this one.
- 57:40SPEAKER_02: I thought you, I thought you did have this one.
- 57:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 57:43SPEAKER_02: So good homework by you.
- 57:44SPEAKER_02: I appreciate you uh back backing up my my pick there.
- 57:48SPEAKER_02: I should have had that ready to go here because I knew of the possibility that I would wind up taking it, but I do love it.
- 57:54SPEAKER_02: It's on the that that back half of the original album, the original 16 track album, and right comes right on the heels of Sad Beautiful Tragic, which I just took as well.
- 58:05SPEAKER_02: So I get that that one-two punch in there, it kind of a gut wrencher into an uplifting, nice storytelling vibe of lucky one.
- 58:14SPEAKER_02: So I'm happy with those two picks.
- 58:17SPEAKER_00: Job well done, I would say, especially at this portion of the draft.
- 58:21SPEAKER_04: And yeah, uh for I just want to say to close that one out.
- 58:24SPEAKER_04: I love the homework on that one, Sean.
- 58:26SPEAKER_04: So excellent job.
- 58:28SPEAKER_04: I learned so much just then.
- 58:30SPEAKER_04: Okay, for my pick.
- 58:31SPEAKER_04: I'm gonna do Starlight.
- 58:35SPEAKER_04: This one is similar vibes to me as like a holy ground in that when it comes on, I feel like it's you know, an upbeat, like exciting, um, you want to dance to it type of song.
- 58:52SPEAKER_04: I don't know much about the background of the song, to be honest.
- 58:55SPEAKER_04: But I I think it's fun.
- 58:57SPEAKER_04: I I think it's uh it's a nice spot.
- 59:00SPEAKER_02: No, I agree that it it's fun.
- 59:02SPEAKER_02: Uh it's a it's a nice tune.
- 59:04SPEAKER_02: I also don't know much about the background of the story.
- 59:08SPEAKER_02: Where it loses me a little bit is uh towards the end, it with when you get the hoo-hoo-hoo, it's almost like a little bowling for soup action there.
- 59:17SPEAKER_02: And uh that I don't think fits really with the sound that she's been rocking with here, but the the song as a whole I like that particular part took it off of my draft board.
- 59:28SPEAKER_04: I don't know that this is one that I'm gonna like pull a lot of votes as a result of, but that's we're at that part of the draft though, Annie.
- 59:35SPEAKER_00: I had this one as actually the last song I would draft still.
- 59:38SPEAKER_00: I didn't have it in the cuts.
- 59:39SPEAKER_00: So I think I think this definitely should have been drafted.
- 59:43SPEAKER_00: I do think it's better than the ones we're gonna talk about that we're gonna get rid of.
- 59:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 59:46SPEAKER_00: I do agree with MC that bowling for soup is a great reference.
- 59:50SPEAKER_00: It's a lot of shades, bowling for soup, and I don't like that part of the song.
- 59:54SPEAKER_00: It also feels like a song.
- 59:55SPEAKER_00: It's not, I don't think you're alone in not knowing what it's about.
- 59:58SPEAKER_00: I don't think even Taylor might may have known what this one was about.
- 1:00:00SPEAKER_00: It's ever most complex work.
- 1:00:01SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 1:00:02SPEAKER_00: We're not we're not recreating all too well with this, right?
- 1:00:05SPEAKER_00: But it's it's draftworthy for sure.
- 1:00:07SPEAKER_00: Okay, I've got my final two picks here, and I have to take one of the pop songs.
- 1:00:12SPEAKER_00: I just have to do it to try to boost my board, and also there was a time in my life where I did love this song.
- 1:00:18SPEAKER_00: So I don't know that time's certainly not now, tell you that, for free.
- 1:00:22SPEAKER_00: And it's an instant skip when it comes on now.
- 1:00:25SPEAKER_00: But I'm gonna go with I knew you were trouble.
- 1:00:29SPEAKER_01: Gotta take it.
- 1:00:30SPEAKER_03: It's a good song, you know what I mean?
- 1:00:32SPEAKER_03: You don't you you never listen to it these days?
- 1:00:35SPEAKER_03: I haven't heard it since it came out.
- 1:00:37SPEAKER_04: Oh god.
- 1:00:39SPEAKER_03: No, I haven't heard it.
- 1:00:40SPEAKER_03: I like this song.
- 1:00:40SPEAKER_00: This is the one.
- 1:00:41SPEAKER_00: Sorry, you got I was just gonna say it it is that clear intention of we want to make a pop hit.
- 1:00:47SPEAKER_00: And you have the boy, the pop boys at the time, those the Swedes come in and you say, Hey, give me a pop hit.
- 1:00:53SPEAKER_00: This was it, and it it played its role, it did its job.
- 1:00:56SPEAKER_00: I appreciate it.
- 1:00:57SPEAKER_00: I listen, I've popped my head to it a thousand times, and when it comes on, I'll do the same.
- 1:01:03SPEAKER_00: It's just not a song I'm seeking out actively ever in my life as a 31-year-old male.
- 1:01:08SPEAKER_02: Yeah, sure.
- 1:01:10SPEAKER_02: That's fair.
- 1:01:12SPEAKER_02: I'm still on the the front end of 30, so maybe that's where I lose it.
- 1:01:17SPEAKER_02: Uh we're thinking about age.
- 1:01:18SPEAKER_02: Those fucking fucking year and a half.
- 1:01:20unknown: Ages.
- 1:01:21SPEAKER_02: Uh no, this is the one I definitely would have chosen this over your other pop-pop option.
- 1:01:27SPEAKER_02: There's no doubt uh in my mind, however, that one should be drafted also.
- 1:01:32SPEAKER_02: Um, no, this the the song's about Harry Styles, and she puts out absolute bangers about Harry Styles.
- 1:01:40SPEAKER_02: This is just what she does, and it's great.
- 1:01:43SPEAKER_02: The hook where you kind of get the uh if you remember the old meme with the screaming goat, where you kind of get that.
- 1:01:50SPEAKER_02: I was gonna bring it up.
- 1:01:51SPEAKER_02: I thought that was very funny.
- 1:01:52SPEAKER_02: She wasn't a huge fan of that, if I remember correctly.
- 1:01:55SPEAKER_02: She she didn't like that joke.
- 1:01:57SPEAKER_02: I thought that was really funny, but that that part of the song could be better where the you know, where the screaming goat comes in.
- 1:02:05SPEAKER_02: That's that's why I took 22 over it.
- 1:02:08SPEAKER_02: But besides that, I really like uh I knew you're in trouble.
- 1:02:10SPEAKER_00: I would have taken 22 over it too.
- 1:02:12SPEAKER_00: I think I said that when you took it.
- 1:02:13SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I that was my favorite of the pop bops.
- 1:02:16SPEAKER_00: The the screaming goat is interesting because I think she definitely hated it like a lot when it happened, and I think she kind of was told to steer into the skid a little bit.
- 1:02:25SPEAKER_00: And there's a couple clips of her, I think it was maybe on Fallon where she's like, Oh, look, they put it up to a screaming goat, and it like the other fancy funny.
- 1:02:33SPEAKER_00: But it's also like you could tell, like she wasn't like cracking up.
- 1:02:36SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 1:02:36SPEAKER_00: All right, my last pick, and I'm going to end my draft the way Michael Collins started his, just in a worse way.
- 1:02:44SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna take the acoustic version of State of Grace.
- 1:02:47SPEAKER_00: Nice, nowhere near the song.
- 1:02:49SPEAKER_00: The drums and state of grace really make it what it is, and also the vocals don't soar quite as high, but I still prefer this song to anything else that's remaining on my board.
- 1:03:00SPEAKER_00: So I I'm glad to have just a little bit of State of Grace shine, even if it's not this the sunshine that Michael Collins has.
- 1:03:07SPEAKER_00: I'm glad to have just a little drip-down effect effect here.
- 1:03:10SPEAKER_02: Love it.
- 1:03:11SPEAKER_02: Some sometimes, depending on the mood I'm in, I I even prefer this version of it.
- 1:03:16SPEAKER_02: Thank you.
- 1:03:16SPEAKER_02: But that's very, very seldom.
- 1:03:18SPEAKER_02: But no, I love I I love this song.
- 1:03:22SPEAKER_02: You know, she could sing this song backwards, and I'd love it.
- 1:03:24SPEAKER_02: So I'm I'm all in on State of Grace, all things.
- 1:03:28SPEAKER_04: I've got no builds.
- 1:03:29SPEAKER_04: I'm sorry.
- 1:03:30SPEAKER_04: I was really trying to think about my next book.
- 1:03:32SPEAKER_02: All good.
- 1:03:33SPEAKER_02: That's fine.
- 1:03:36SPEAKER_00: And is it my I mean I feel like we can't we can't not take that's how I'm fine if she doesn't because she has a popular board already, I think.
- 1:03:46SPEAKER_00: Like her her songs are gonna play well.
- 1:03:48SPEAKER_00: I'd probably have to do it if she doesn't.
- 1:03:50SPEAKER_02: I don't really want to.
- 1:03:51SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I just can't get over the the phone call.
- 1:03:55SPEAKER_00: So yeah, no, yeah, but the quote the quote like ever part of the song really loses.
- 1:04:02SPEAKER_04: I can't.
- 1:04:03SPEAKER_04: Um I think I'm gonna like I don't know.
- 1:04:07SPEAKER_04: See, uh my my lead up was gonna be I'm gonna try to pull votes with the people, but I don't know that my choice will do that any more than the other option.
- 1:04:16SPEAKER_04: And the reason I'm gonna go with it was because it was a single.
- 1:04:19SPEAKER_04: I heard it a lot on the radio.
- 1:04:21SPEAKER_04: From the vault, number 25, message in a bottle.
- 1:04:26SPEAKER_04: I do like this song actually.
- 1:04:28SPEAKER_04: I I I think it kind of falls in line with my other songs in that like it's a bop.
- 1:04:33SPEAKER_04: You can dance to it.
- 1:04:35SPEAKER_04: I don't love this pick, but I'm just trying to get by with this last one.
- 1:04:42SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 1:04:42SPEAKER_04: I feel okay.
- 1:04:43SPEAKER_04: I I feel yeah, I I don't have any qualms with leaving We Are Never Getting Back Together up on the board.
- 1:04:50SPEAKER_04: I'm okay with that.
- 1:04:52SPEAKER_00: I I'm with you on that front too.
- 1:04:53SPEAKER_00: I had I had message in a bottle as a draft pick, so I I'm with you.
- 1:04:57SPEAKER_00: I it wasn't I wasn't gonna leave it out.
- 1:04:59SPEAKER_00: It was gonna be drafted if I got to that point on my list.
- 1:05:01SPEAKER_00: I prefer it just like kind of like you said, just to the what's remaining.
- 1:05:04SPEAKER_00: I do prefer this one to those.
- 1:05:06SPEAKER_02: So yeah, yeah, it there's a lot of filler in the vault tracks on this.
- 1:05:13SPEAKER_02: We'll get into that when when we kind of go through the ones that get left out, but this was definitely the best of the songs that we had not heard yet from the vault.
- 1:05:24SPEAKER_02: So so yeah, that kind of just leaves me with Mr.
- 1:05:29SPEAKER_02: Irrelevant and I'm and I'm sort of in Ronin.
- 1:05:34SPEAKER_02: Tough good song, you know, not it's not for me.
- 1:05:39SPEAKER_03: Handle that grenade.
- 1:05:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:05:42SPEAKER_02: Well, I'm I'm between the two that are remaining on the the original album, and I think I would just I think I would just feel wrong leaving We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together off of this draft of the red album.
- 1:05:58SPEAKER_02: I mean, it was like the maybe the biggest song off of the album at at the time of release.
- 1:06:04SPEAKER_02: So in in good conscience, I couldn't possibly sit here with the the final pick of this draft and and not scoop it up off the board.
- 1:06:14SPEAKER_02: Is it my favorite of hers?
- 1:06:17SPEAKER_02: No, of course not absolutely not.
- 1:06:18SPEAKER_02: Is it my favorite of her radio hits?
- 1:06:21SPEAKER_02: No, not even close.
- 1:06:23SPEAKER_02: Uh it's on here somehow.
- 1:06:26SPEAKER_02: But is it was it an 100% cultural phenomenon back in the early to mid 2010s?
- 1:06:34SPEAKER_02: Yes, indeed, it absolutely was.
- 1:06:37SPEAKER_02: It was in movies such as uh Pitch Perfect, I think maybe maybe the second one actually Pitch Perfect 2 it might have been in during a riff off.
- 1:06:46SPEAKER_02: And yeah, it was just it this song was everywhere.
- 1:06:50SPEAKER_02: The the middle direct middle portion of the song where she talks about the phone call that she got from uh Jake Jillenhall that part is not awesome.
- 1:07:03SPEAKER_02: Um yeah but just shitting on this song.
- 1:07:08SPEAKER_02: But just a catchy tune and it belong if you're drafting songs off red it it belongs to it deserves to be a pick.
- 1:07:18SPEAKER_02: I don't know I'm just going on and on at this point.
- 1:07:20SPEAKER_02: Somebody else say something please you need to come up for air for fuck's sake.
- 1:07:25SPEAKER_04: I I I fear she loves this song um and I don't know I don't know what what the deal is with it because like someone has to like the song or she wouldn't be playing it every time she like plays anything pertaining to Red.
- 1:07:41SPEAKER_04: It's it it was on the set list for the Air's tour for Red I I mean it was a radio hit like you said.
- 1:07:48SPEAKER_02: It was a bathroom break during yeah it was a massive radio hit.
- 1:07:53SPEAKER_02: Not only was it a radio hit it was everywhere.
- 1:07:56SPEAKER_04: It was everywhere.
- 1:07:57SPEAKER_00: The music video sometimes when it gets of course how could it not overexposure never yeah yeah but it was a scheduled bathroom break for me during the the Aerostore and that's fair.
- 1:08:09SPEAKER_04: That's right.
- 1:08:09SPEAKER_00: But it is a good concert song too at the same time.
- 1:08:12SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:08:12SPEAKER_00: And also MC it does deserve to be drafted I think I think you made the right choice in picking this one over the other one that's from the original left out here.
- 1:08:20SPEAKER_00: It's a better song I think than that one for me.
- 1:08:22SPEAKER_02: So yeah I mean I couldn't I could if I'm writing these down I just can't put stay stay stay in and not we're never ever getting back together.
- 1:08:32SPEAKER_02: I can't put Forever Winter down and not we're never ever getting back together.
- 1:08:36SPEAKER_00: I just can't do it.
- 1:08:37SPEAKER_00: So let's dive into the leftovers I'll read through them quickly we have Forever Winter the Very First Night Ronin Babe Girl at home and stay stay stay that was the order I had them ranked stay stay stay was the worst one for me.
- 1:08:52SPEAKER_02: I can't stand this stay stay staying on that funny I like really wow yeah I'm not a stay stay stay guy one it's corny but it's fun or you could even say it's so fun.
- 1:09:06SPEAKER_02: Yeah shades of me shades of me or not that bad but yeah um does anybody want to go to bat for any of those I just read off that weren't drafted so I I have something to say about girl at home girl at home was a nice song it was on the deluxe track in uh the original release in 2012 it was a nice good enough song when she uh released Taylor's version she got crazy with girl at home and absolutely botched it she made it she she it might have been a a little hat tip to Daft Punk and their the snubbing that went on because she computerized it uh made it sound like R2 D2 to your point earlier and the Taylor's version of Girl at Home absolutely torpedoed the the song as a whole but when going back and listening to the to the full version that came out in 2012 if you listen start to finish uh it's uh it's a nice song it fits in well with that original album I think this one is theorized to be a little Zach Efron Vanessa Hudgens I think you're right thing I think she had a she had a run-in with Zach Efron Troy Bolton do you guys have anything else on these six songs that were not drafted?
- 1:10:30SPEAKER_04: I'll chime in about the very first night that one actually both the very first night and forever winter did make an alternate list for my draft um they weren't in my top eight but they were potential alternates for me.
- 1:10:45SPEAKER_04: I just I think I really just liked this vault from her for red and if I'm not mistaken we got fearless Taylor's version first.
- 1:10:55SPEAKER_04: So this was our second experience with a vault and I just really enjoyed this vault list from her from the Red Taylor's version.
- 1:11:05SPEAKER_02: I like those those two songs I don't love them but yeah I I agree with you in a sense that the the vault as a whole is is strong and these were two nice songs that were supposedly written at the time that we didn't get to hear until uh the re-release so they weren't on my board but I appreciate them for what they are.
- 1:11:27SPEAKER_00: I think I've made this joke offline and I'm gonna make it again here so I'm shameless in that regard.
- 1:11:33SPEAKER_00: But the vault in general it claims to be songs written at the time of the original album and it is supposedly work that was left on the cutting room floor and is now being brought back I feel like this vault was too good and it reminds me of the scene in Elf where he stays up all night and decorates gimbals and then the manager comes in and he goes the corporate must have been here it's it's a little too good.
- 1:11:57SPEAKER_00: It's a little too good the decorate that's what it seems like that happened with the vault.
- 1:12:02SPEAKER_00: But it's it's a great vault nonetheless one of the better ones we've gotten I think the only thing we have left to do now is give our final thoughts on the record and then give it a score from zero to one hundred so I'm going to toss it to Mr Michael Collins first and then Annie you can go after him.
- 1:12:19SPEAKER_02: Oh my goodness score from zero to a hundred uh this is my favorite Taylor Swift album that changes from time to time uh depending on how I feel but this is most consistently the one that I would I would put it number one I I think it's I think she she knocked this one out of the park especially if you're talking just the the original what album whether it's the 16 or the 21 if you want to include the deluxe plus bonus track.
- 1:12:49SPEAKER_02: I I'm I'm gonna go with a with with a a 96 out of a hundred on this with the with the four deductive points coming from strictly just the screaming goat meme and the uh the supposed phone call from Jake Jill and all that's those that makes up four four points worth of deduction 96 out of 100 I think that's a fair that's a fair rating.
- 1:13:18SPEAKER_04: And I'm gonna follow a similar suit in that I because it's my favorite album and like no other work from Taylor Swift could get any higher for me than this album I fear I have to go with 100.
- 1:13:36SPEAKER_04: Well well I'm just thinking from the perspective of like what else I mean I guess I'm not leaving any room for anything future to be a hundred I don't know I agree there are some things about this album like the goat and the we are never getting back together girl at home even really I don't I'm not like thrilled with so I don't know I guess the way that I'm talking it through is like you're coming off the hundred yeah it does sound like I'm coming off the hundred so okay maybe let me backtrack let me let me give it a a 98 I guess for those reasons like it's not it's not like every song on this album I am obsessed with but majority of them I am so much so that it is my favorite album of all time.
- 1:14:22SPEAKER_04: It it houses my favorite song of all time with treacherous.
- 1:14:28SPEAKER_04: So it has to be a high rating for me.
- 1:14:30SPEAKER_04: It's just I guess it's like leaving room for future work of hers to be more perfect than this.
- 1:14:37SPEAKER_00: First podcast appearance and she comes on drops a bomb perfect score right in our face yeah listen I don't hate it one bit Annie if it's your favorite you shout it from the rooftops.
- 1:14:50SPEAKER_00: Now I will say Michael made a good point if if anything comes out that's better in the future you might have put yourself in a little bit of a box.
- 1:14:58SPEAKER_00: So I do like that you went down to a 98 just to save room just in case you never know you never know.
- 1:15:03SPEAKER_00: Room for always I mean hey if it's your favorite album of all time if if it's your favorite album of all time it better be damn close to 100.
- 1:15:09SPEAKER_00: So a great score by both of you I'm not too far off.
- 1:15:14SPEAKER_00: It is not my favorite Taylor Swift album but it's close it's in it's in my top four I would say maybe top three I'm a big folklore evermore guy personally but red is right up there.
- 1:15:25SPEAKER_00: I think what the best quality of Red is also kind of acts as a detriment in some ways.
- 1:15:30SPEAKER_00: And this might sound stupid but there's so many songs on it that we get so many great songs.
- 1:15:36SPEAKER_00: And we just drafted 24 songs that I will gladly listen to for the rest of my life the issue is there's some on this that it feels like a bit of a chore to get through if you just want to say hey I want to listen to Red today like I wanted to to prepare for this podcast you need to carve out some serious time.
- 1:15:53SPEAKER_00: It's not the most digestible thing.
- 1:15:55SPEAKER_00: So and that's because of all the add-ons and the extracurriculars and the vaults and the digital and the all these different versions and that sort of thing but that's what takes it down a couple points for me.
- 1:16:06SPEAKER_00: I'm pretty similar to you guys it's a standout A in the class it's a 94 out of 100 for me.
- 1:16:12SPEAKER_02: That's coming from a teacher 94 96 98 pretty solid yeah and I think that I I mean I agree with you if you're if you're talking the the full 30 tracks that we were drafting off the list of that first 16 though that is is kind of the the meat and potatoes of of what we're looking for and we have it on vinyl it gets a a decent amount of play at our house and you can't beat that first 16 in my opinion.
- 1:16:45SPEAKER_00: That's a that's a very fair point.
- 1:16:47SPEAKER_00: I had a great time diving into this record with you guys.
- 1:16:50SPEAKER_00: I'll of course welcome you back for any other additional Taylor Swift records in the future do you guys have any final parting thoughts?
- 1:16:57SPEAKER_02: Thanks for having us this was a blast I was happy to bring Annie on next to me maybe some more in the future we'll see.
- 1:17:05SPEAKER_00: Only if we're talking Taylor Swift that's that's all I can talk about actually I know I have you penciled in for some green day too down the road oh we're talking green day?
- 1:17:15SPEAKER_04: Alright well that broadens our horizons that broadens our horizons quite a bit no thank you so much Sean for having us on and for thinking of us as you were diving into Taylor Swift with these album reviews it was an honor to be uh asked to speak on this truly well it's an open invitation for the Collins family always thank you for joining me listeners thank you very much for tuning in I greatly appreciate it if you can like and subscribe on your way out that would be also appreciated.
