Latest / Podcast - Big 98.7 / Things You Should Lie About During Job Interviews
Transcript
- 0:01If you got job that you really really want, is it okay to lie
- 0:04during the job interview? You're a lied. I mean, there are ways
- 0:07to phrase certain things that you know, maybe while not completely honest. You
- 0:13gotta do what's best for you. Yeah, But I just don't think in
- 0:16that situation I would feel comfortable doing that. Okay. I'm not saying go
- 0:20into a job interview and be like, you know, I've worked as a
- 0:24mechanical engineer for ten years. To hire me when you've been in a radio
- 0:28DJ the whole time? Gotcha? Not quite like that. But for example,
- 0:31though, you know, when they ask you why you left your last
- 0:35job, you can fib a little because it doesn't matter. It's not this
- 0:38job. So if you left because you hated your boss, say well you
- 0:42of course not. You don't want to go into an interview with like a
- 0:45negative connotation or to bash anybody, because for me, if I was the
- 0:49person interviewing, my first thing would be like, okay, red flag alert,
- 0:52you're just a toxic person. Absolutely, yep. What even if it's
- 0:55one hundred percent true, if you had the worst boss in the world,
- 0:57right, don't say it. Instead? This expert Now this is from a
- 1:00hiring expert, so they know they say, Instead, say something along the
- 1:04lines of things were going great, but I wanted to just take on some
- 1:07bigger challenges. Really was it was too It was almost you know, it
- 1:12was too easy. I was not being challenged bigger challenges. I like that.
- 1:17Okay, Now when they ask you about why you want this job,
- 1:21another reason to lie, because obviously you want the job because of the money
- 1:25and benefits, right typically that's typically I mean, yeah, you might like
- 1:29the idea of the job too, but at the end of the day,
- 1:32you're not taking it if it doesn't have that. I want to know how
- 1:34much bacon I'm bringing it exactly, So obviously don't say that how much baking
- 1:40you're giving me box? So why do you want this job? Well,
- 1:42it's because of the money. Yeah. No, Instead they want you to
- 1:46say something like, you know, for example, tell them why you're passionate
- 1:49about the company's mission, why the job is your life's work. Then also
- 1:53just throw in there's something about you feel like you're a good fit for the
- 1:57culture of the company. I like that. And then the big one when
- 2:00they ask you about kind of where you see yourself in five years don't say
- 2:06at a different company, well say things like you see yourself growing with this
- 2:10company. Well, yeah, these are no brainers, no brainers. Why
- 2:15would I talk about this if they were no planner? I just but I
- 2:16also don't feel like these are lies, because that's ultimately what you're gonna want
- 2:21to do, and usually you end up loving where you're going. You know
- 2:23what I mean to you? Okay, it says the girl that's worked at
- 2:27the same place for how many years? One hundred? Yeah, I always
- 2:29loved where I've worked. I've only had like three jobs though. Yeah,
- 2:32what was your favorite beer card girl? I mean, you know I love
- 2:36this job, I really do. But yes, being the beer cart girl
- 2:38at a country club. If they right opportunity to arise is I know Rose
- 2:42Creek could use a way, could use the help of the summer always said,
- 2:46I'm like, if something were to happen here, I would go back
- 2:47and be a beer cart girl the rest of my life. Like in a
- 2:51minute in the morning, big ninety eight point seven, a biboty Bopright,
- 2:59So in a while, if you're having a hard time getting a call back
- 3:01from a guy, there could be some reasons, okay, and This is
- 3:05not me. This is not me saying don't do this or do it.
- 3:07But it's a professional thing. These are the things. If you're doing them,
- 3:10you're probably not gonna get a call back. For example, Amanda falling
- 3:13in love too fast. I mean that's just like an automatic one, right.
- 3:15I know it worked for you. Yeah, I guess on where you're
- 3:19at in life. Well, you and Nick you fell in love on the
- 3:21first night, right, Yeah, I mean I wouldn't say we fell in
- 3:23love. We just had a mad attraction. No. I remember you then
- 3:25very next day coming into work saying, you, guys, I'm in love.
- 3:29I remember going I'm marrying this guy right away. Category okay, I
- 3:38got a clingy, insecure behavior also might not get you a call back.
- 3:43You see it happen where two people are both clinging and both looking to fall
- 3:46in love immediately, and then and then it happens like that boom. You
- 3:50know what I mean. Yeah, I'm saying that was you. No,
- 3:52but I know what you are, you know what I mean? Right,
- 3:53Yes, But if you get one person who's just looking to sort of date
- 3:57and be casual, you just kind of have to read the room. Doesn't
- 4:00really make sense. With the text messages. But hey, if they're not
- 4:03responding to you, or if they're only texting you after say, ten pm,
- 4:09you gotta start listen figuring it out. He's just busy, he just
- 4:14has a lot of work. He just can't get to me and tell you
- 4:15know, two four am. Yeah exactly, and he needs a ride.
- 4:20It's so weird, yeah, exactly, honest behavior from this guy. Also,
- 4:25if you're talking about money, that might not get you a callback from
- 4:28a guy the first date. If you're asking them what what do you do?
- 4:30How much does that bring in annually? Just that question in general of
- 4:34how much that brings in or how much do you make? Is so tacky,
- 4:39so tacky to me. You can ask what you're doing for a living
- 4:43and then put together exactly. I have a little bit of common sense in
- 4:47that regard how much money does a tax advisor make? Yeah, you can
- 4:50also scare a guy off if you're talking about the men in your past.
- 4:56I feel like this goes for guys and girls. This isn't just a crazy
- 4:59girl situation. No, of course not. But this is what the list
- 5:01is amandas Okay, so that's all I can speak to. But no,
- 5:03if you're a guy too. Talking about the women in your past also a
- 5:06big red flag unless I ask you because I'd like to know a little knowledge
- 5:10about it. It's a little red flag too. I mean, don't you
- 5:13feel like that's a second date where you can ask about Oh yeah, sorry,
- 5:15I forgot. We're on a first date. That's a first date.
- 5:16Yeah, you know, if you want to ask about their dating past or
- 5:19whatever to a point, you know, don't be like straight up first date,
- 5:23Hey, what's your number? Right? The only thing that I would
- 5:26again, if it's later in life, if somebody was married before and that
- 5:30gets brought up, I don't think that's weird on a first date, like
- 5:31yeah I was married or this is where I'm met in life. That doesn't
- 5:34feel itchy to me. But it has to have an open conversation about it,
- 5:39not just like somebody ragging on their X. Well totally yeah, and
- 5:42also drinking too much. That's going to be something. If you do it
- 5:45on the first date, you might not get a callback for a second date.
- 5:47But then again, like we talked about earlier, it just depends on
- 5:49who we're talking about. If we get two people that are matched perfectly,
- 5:53that are both looking to get hammered on the first date. Well then hey,
- 5:55match made in Heaven. Yeah, but you do have to you have
- 5:58to kind of keep your guard up because you don't want to, especially if
- 6:00you really like the person and you ruin it, because it's very rare you
- 6:03get a second chance if you blew it. No, exactly in that situation.
- 6:06Literally, if you're going to drink too much, then everything I had
- 6:09mentioned previously, you're probably going to start talking about all that stuff, in
- 6:13which case you're not going to get a second date. So that's true.
- 6:15Gosh, knowledge dropper today. Yeah, probably one of the smartest guys you
- 6:18know. And she's said, who is the guy we put this list together?
- 6:23Taking Amna in the morning? Dig ninety seven Big ninety two point seven
- 6:28is today's variety, Amanda. You know that song Rocking Around the Christmas Tree
- 6:31from Branda Lee. Yeah, a huge fan. You know, it's made
- 6:33history as of today, really yeah, it is now the number one song
- 6:38on the Billboard Hot one hundred. Shocking, right, the oldest person who
- 6:42ever have a number one hit in the world, Branda Lee, who is
- 6:45seventy eight years old. That shocks me, amazing, Yeah, I mean
- 6:48right, this time of year, the Billboard Hot one hundred generally kind of
- 6:51overfilled with Christmas music, like no, but yeah, Number two is Mariah
- 6:56Carey. Where's the Kelsey Brothers. They've got to be up there with their
- 6:59Philadelphi Christmas. I thought that was number one? No, am I crazy?
- 7:02I'm looking. I don't see it. I got are they lying?
- 7:05I got Bobby Helms, you know the classic jingle bell rock. He got
- 7:09wham with last Christmas, Burro Lives even making an appearance. I mean,
- 7:14my goodness, No, I don't see the Kelsey Brothers. So you know,
- 7:15of course, it is the holiday season, holiday season, and after
- 7:19by the way, our holiday season, that jam right there has got to
- 7:24be up there. That's gonna be number one, and Smmy Williams. It's
- 7:27the holiday season. No, he's got the other is the most wonderful time
- 7:29of the year, though, So you can't be out there twice, got
- 7:31it. But a lot of people are foregoing giving gifts this year, they
- 7:35say thirty three percent, about a third of Americans gonna not do gifts this
- 7:39year simply because of inflation, the cost of everything just going way up.
- 7:44They're just like, we can't do it. We can't afford it. It's
- 7:46just sad. That is really sad. Sad we got to that point.
- 7:48But there's so many other options, right, you don't need it. I
- 7:51hate I don't care if it's inflated or not. I hate the idea of
- 7:56just having to give each other gifts just because to give out of this right
- 8:00out of just like obligation, Like you know, thank god somebody invented secret
- 8:05Sannah, because like, for example, my wife has five siblings, and
- 8:09it's like, do we give a gift for everybody? And no, do
- 8:11they draw names? Yeah, we draw names secret Sanna. Uh, it's
- 8:16super much easier. But then it's like I got my own family, yeah,
- 8:20which I gotta throw kids and nephews in there. How do you do,
- 8:22Amanda? How do you do? How do you do it? No?
- 8:24It's uh, it does get a little crazy. So I am very
- 8:28lucky that all of my parents they don't care. It's not like you have
- 8:31to give them a Christmas gift. They are so on board with it's not
- 8:35about us, it's for the kids. And even then we're not a toys
- 8:39family. People always laugh the like do you not have toys in your house?
- 8:43Like we have a few, like in their bedrooms and stuff, but
- 8:46ultimately and they still function, the kids, they still function. I know
- 8:50it because it's shocking, you know, because they don't know. That's what
- 8:52I always wonder because you see some households and do what you want. If
- 8:54you like toys, great, but the ones that are just there's an entire
- 8:58room dedicated to toy, you know what I mean. It's like and they
- 9:01just keep comment and comming, go ahead, what do you do? It's
- 9:03it's crazy. That's not my jam. I'm not against it. You do
- 9:07you you parent how you want to. I truly, and it's not just
- 9:11because of Instagram and all the things like experiences, but I love doing experiences
- 9:16with our kids like that. To me, I will spend the money on
- 9:18versus another thing, I mean another thing. Yeah, Now, do you
- 9:24have any experiences in mind for this holiday? Yeah? So I'm really excited.
- 9:28So Briggs has never done Monster Jam. So we were kind of talking
- 9:30about that yesterday Nick and I. But Disney on our kids seats still just
- 9:35five bucks. I don't know, you know, for you, I mean
- 9:37that was the whole commercial. Oh it don't got to be right, I
- 9:39don't know. I don't remember we're the ones on the radio. We should
- 9:43probably know. No, we're giving them away though, we have a ton
- 9:45to give away for Monster Jam. But Disney on Ice is coming. Oh,
- 9:48we so excited for that. So just being able to have that,
- 9:52or we'll tell our kids, especially January February when there's not a lot going
- 9:58on, it's like, hey, we'll go swimming at a a hotel or
- 10:01do something along those lines. Sure, well that's fine. I mean what
- 10:03about you and Nick though, because coppas like Lauren and I I don't think
- 10:07we've gotten each other gift for years, like for anything, for birthday,
- 10:11anniversary, look, Christmas, when we need something, we just we buy
- 10:15it. We don't buy each other gifts either. Do you give each other
- 10:18experiences? It's an experience living with me every day? By Amanda in the
- 10:24morning on Big I know Amanda stills, let's see let's see rat to buy
- 10:31batteries. Plus, Well, how about this a jam? I know they're
- 10:37back together, but I was surprised to see it. Nellie and Ashanti they
- 10:41are having their first baby together. Oh that's awesome. That's great for nostalgia.
- 10:46Sic. Now what are the ages of a Nelly and a Shanty.
- 10:48Yeah, she is forty three and he is forty nine, but he already
- 10:54has a couple of kids, so this will be her first. He has
- 10:58two kids, though, and they're little bit older, twenty nine and twenty
- 11:01four. That was after we got done watching Britney Spears on TRL, of
- 11:07course, and I'm really excited about Britney Spears and her mom. They finally
- 11:11reunited. So I guess a couple of weeks ago they got together. This
- 11:15is after the shade was being I mean a doll controversion, all of it.
- 11:20Yes, remember when her mom was like, hey, britt here's all
- 11:22your belongings. I hate that I have to do this on here, but
- 11:26the fact that you're not responding to me, and she just posted all these
- 11:28pictures over these really creepy dolls. Yeah, Brittany accused her of throwing them
- 11:33away. Yeah in her book. Really it was really silly. Well over
- 11:35the weekend, it wasn't just a Lynn, it was also her brother Brian.
- 11:39They were Brian. Yes, they all together, And I guess her
- 11:43mom is really making an effort to be a part of Britney's life. The
- 11:46pictures, did you see them? So Brian Spears had posted a picture and
- 11:50they are like cuddled on the couch like you would envision and want every mom
- 11:56and daughter to be like at that age. She is is then carrying her
- 12:01at one point just like having a good old time, like they were just
- 12:03like best friends and buddies. I know, we're no weird. I know,
- 12:07pretending she's four again, Come here for it. Let's start over,
- 12:11well, pretend to birth you, and then we'll go from there. She
- 12:15is very apologetic. She understands that she is to blame. Brittany is still
- 12:20a little hesitant, as I'm sure she probably has her guard up with everybody
- 12:22I can only imagine, but this feels like this is the direction we need
- 12:28to be going after everything, you know, cause Brittany has kind of made
- 12:30it out like, hey, bygones, be bygones, don't be mad at
- 12:33Justin, don't be mad at anybody other than her sister and her dad.
- 12:37Let's just all try to move forward. Well, I just hope they can
- 12:41get over the doll situation. I think it's I wonder if that's how it
- 12:43started. She just like brought over the dolls here. I'm waiting for her
- 12:48to start dancing with the dolls or over the weekend. She also Pike,
- 12:52I know you had a show and you were pretty busy. She was rolling
- 12:54around in bed just like kind of naked, doing her thing, and one
- 13:00of those dolls maybe could pop up in the background. I don't know,
- 13:03you can roll around with the bell some I'm still a little weird about all
- 13:09of it. Well, that's not that's not gonna change. And Gary,
- 13:15he gets called out by Katie Kirk. I love the fact that he sat
- 13:18down for this interview. I also had no idea Katie Kirk was still sitting
- 13:20down for such hard hitting interviews. And okay, I didn't know what she's
- 13:24been up to. But Gary the old Golden Bachelor, right, Yes,
- 13:28So there was all the controversy. Like two days before he picked Teresa,
- 13:31Remember this, we were talking about the Carolyn, the said girl who's like,
- 13:35Hey, you've been telling the whole world you've never been in a relationship
- 13:39and hadn't kissed anybody since your wife. I was in a relationship with you
- 13:43for two years, right, So Katie Kirk asked him about it. I
- 13:46guess, like any guy, I had a number of dates and it was
- 13:50one or two but what about this long term relationship that you know lasted you
- 13:56know, a couple of years. Well, it really didn't, but you
- 14:03know, I can. I want to focus on what's going on now.
- 14:07The important thing for me right now is where I'm at today, and looking
- 14:11back on those things to me is no benefit. Talking about my past that
- 14:13I lied about really doesn't benefit me. So yeah, why would I talk
- 14:18about that? Yeah? I know he was shaking like he was, so
- 14:20he did not expect that question. He was not ready to lie even more
- 14:26when he answered it, And then she like came back at him like,
- 14:28you didn't answer that question, I'm going to ask you again, And the
- 14:31look on his face it's like, oh boy, oh boy, what am
- 14:35I going to do? But then, Teresa, how do you think she
- 14:37feels about it? No? Actually I didn't feel that way. We've had
- 14:39discussions and he has discussed his past with me. I completely trust Gary,
- 14:46and we really know each other. You've known each other for five minutes.
- 14:50I mean, could he really be with Gary the way he talks? Like,
- 14:52wouldn't that get old after about four minutes? Oh? No, I
- 14:56love Gary? His voice out, Yeah, he's hard of hearing. So
- 15:00did you see that everybody was trying to make fun of because it looked like
- 15:03he was reading her lips and saying what she was saying, and people like,
- 15:05is he forcing her to like speak and use like those And he's like
- 15:11no, like he's he is hearing and that's why he talks. I'm pretty
- 15:18sure that's okay. Well, then I can't say anything and I take it
- 15:22back. That's on me. That one's on me, guys. That's all
- 15:26right. In a minute in the morning, on Big Nuddy point. You
- 15:33know what fexting is? Fexting You never heard of that, Frank fexting is
- 15:37like fighting over text, okay, And they say, you know, it's
- 15:41a horrible thing to do. We've all been sucked into these long fexting arguments,
- 15:46you know, where there's just paragraph after paragraph. Oh my god.
- 15:50Honestly, I don't think I've ever been in a big one like that where
- 15:52it's just paragraphs. Really if anything minor cold like okay, like you just
- 15:56know minor just you know, I'm upset, but I'm just like I'm more
- 16:00short about it, which means that I'm annoyed. Okay, come on,
- 16:03you've never been you never opened your phone up to see like multiple tech or
- 16:07remember back in the day when you know, like pre iPhone, where it
- 16:11would send them in like multiple techs, so you get a text that's like
- 16:12one of six oh god, oh god, back in the BlackBerry days when
- 16:18you could really go to town in angry type with both fingies. Well,
- 16:22they say that, you know, you really shouldn't be fighting over text.
- 16:25You know. For one, you just can't tell people's or emotions. Some
- 16:30people just aren't good at handling that and it just really gets out of hand.
- 16:33Like for example, my band Amanda the band I play him. Oh
- 16:36no, there's not trouble in paradise. Of course, we avoid it because
- 16:40we avoid any sort of fexting or messaging in this case. You know,
- 16:42like for example, like if we discuss a song, if we're going to
- 16:45add a song to the set list, which is a big decision. You're
- 16:49not even being serious right now. I'm being dead serious. It's a big,
- 16:52big decisions. So we've had discussions and it will get out of hand
- 16:56where feelings get hurt and people are just like what or not we're going to
- 17:00play breakfast at Tiffany's at Dempsey's. You would never you never know how much
- 17:04goes into that and it's a passion you guys have. We basically said we
- 17:08no longer will discuss this over to any sort of tools like six way call.
- 17:11Yeah. Absolutely, Yeah, we have to schedule a set, We
- 17:15have to set up a time to all be on a video call, otherwise
- 17:18we can't discuss it. I feel like that rule can go over to relationships
- 17:21as well well. And don't you agree with messages too. Then you can
- 17:25screenshot them and you have them, or you can go back and look,
- 17:29and that for me, that's the worst, Like if you can go back
- 17:30and you're like, you know, you said this and this hurt my feelings
- 17:33or remember when you did this? When it's just there and it doesn't go
- 17:37away because I'm not a delet of text messages, right, and it's like
- 17:41oh, and you read it over and over again, or then you ask
- 17:44your friend or something I've had that my friend will be like, how do
- 17:47you read this or how do you take this? Yeah? Yes, if
- 17:49you're let's say you're in a drunken fight with somebody and you're sending these long
- 17:52text it's like that's pretty incriminating because let's be honest, if you're fighting,
- 17:56like verbally, you're not gonna remember most of what was said. You can
- 18:00remind you might the next day you might go, god, I remember you
- 18:03said something that really really upset me and it really hurt, but I just
- 18:07can't remember it. Or just in general, if you look back at your
- 18:10text and you're like, oh, oh boy, okay that was being said,
- 18:15then you feel icky. Well you atproof, you know, they say
- 18:18the practical tips to avoiding these sort of fexting arguments. Try the type and
- 18:22delete method. You ever do that all the time. Just type out a
- 18:26long angry message and then just kind of let it sit, uh huh,
- 18:29dave it as a draft, just delete it because half of that is the
- 18:33things you want to say, And usually it's just you feeling like you need
- 18:36to get it out there. Read it and you're like, no, it's
- 18:38not it's not worth it. And I think the older you get, don't
- 18:41you agree. None of it's work. I don't care. And some people
- 18:45just like wait for you, like you feel like they poked you and they're
- 18:48waiting for you to respond a certain way and you're like, not not going
- 18:49to do it, like a Facebook poke. Oh my god, been a
- 18:53Whiles's about a good Yeah, is that not why you were framing Facebook?
- 18:56Poke? And no, you ever keep a journal that sounds like something you
- 19:00mightn't to be describing it? It should though, you know I would keep
- 19:03a journal, but there's just no way to know that nobody's not going to
- 19:06read it, you know what I mean? Isn't that the point? I
- 19:07wouldn't that be cool if you? If I were to pass and you're like,
- 19:11here's her journal? You think your journal worth? You think like my
- 19:15kids? Not for you're gonna get published, not like Okay. Now here's
- 19:23what you need to know. Today is a day to get out and vote.
- 19:27Voters are headed to the polls for a special election today in Fargo to
- 19:30decide whether to increase sales and lodging taxes to fund the Fargodome remodel. Of
- 19:34course that would not only just be the Fargo Doome, but that would be
- 19:37adding a convention center. If you have not seen the renderings for this,
- 19:41it is incredible. And there's only three places to go today, So the
- 19:45polls are going to be open until seven o'clock to night at the Fargodome,
- 19:48the Fargo Civic Center, and also the Ramata on Thirteenth Avenue. You don't
- 19:52get out and make your voice heard. Whichever way you feel about it.
- 19:56You know, I think it'd be great. I think it'd be very exciting.
- 19:57Great for the community obviously, the economy and what have you. But
- 20:02you know, just get on vote. They had me at girls' bathrooms,
- 20:04adding more of those. Your wife and I we went to the bathroom at
- 20:08the Shania Twing concert, like in the entry way. They were like getting
- 20:12people to go with them. It's crazy. I feel so bad for you
- 20:15guys though, No, really, I really do. You know, as
- 20:18we guys can just go in like a you know, just throw a trough
- 20:22up line. One hundred dudes up, get it done, get out.
- 20:26Yeah, And that very sad news. Morehead Police Department has announced that one
- 20:30of its dogs died unexpectedly. A canine and Zeke had an acute medical emergency.
- 20:33Well at home. Over the weekend, he was deployed over one hundred
- 20:37and fifty times for services in the city. He actually just received last August
- 20:41a prestigious Case of the Year national award and uh that was because of his
- 20:45work on a Fargo drug investigation. Wow, what a dog, What a
- 20:49great dog. Thank you Zeke for your service. So sad and you have
- 20:53to wonder, you know, with this like mysterious dog illness going around globally.
- 20:57Yeah, I don't know if that has something. I don't know how
- 21:00old the Zekesterra was. But so sad. And that's a wrap for Governor
- 21:07Burgham. He announced yesterday he would suspend his campaign for the presidential nomination after
- 21:11he failed to qualify well for the last I guess debate. I haven't seen
- 21:15him in a debate in a while. No, there's another one coming up,
- 21:18and now we're down to four plus Donald Trump. So they're still still
- 21:22going to narrow it down that Republican party. Well, we don't vote until
- 21:26what next November? Yes, literally eleven months from now, I know.
- 21:30Jeez. Could they make it longer the process, that'd be awesome, I
- 21:34do. I'm like the weirdo who loves watching these debates. It's just so
- 21:38intriguing to me. Hey, listen, just a political wouldn't even our political
- 21:45advisor on the show? Yeah, take it a mina in the morning,
- 21:51seven amzing. Well, nevertheless, despite these warm temperatures, we are what
- 21:55day the fifth, twenty days away from Christmas, day, so you can
- 21:59imagine the just frenzy. The North Pole is in Santa Claus, all the
- 22:03elves, Missus Claus making the cookies is too, and the whole thing getting
- 22:07ready for the big day. So with that said, Amanda, they're busy.
- 22:10They can't be answering phone calls from us. So we have the Santa
- 22:12Claus hotline set up, which is a direct line to Santa Claus. If
- 22:17you want your kids to call to let Santa know what they would like for

- 23:49He's gonna do this. That's a common misconception. It's that's kind of like
- 23:53old Santa down the chimney. I mean, that's just like the tail,
- 23:56you know. But he'll walk in your front door, no problem, you
- 23:59know what I mean. Now he'll find out he can just walk right in.
- 24:02Well, he knows where you're sleeping, he knows when you're awake,
- 24:03and he'll find you wherever. Like, there's a lot of the you know
