Latest / Pink Shade: Reality TV with Mary Payne / 2123 - Pop and Bravo with Kate Casey
Transcript
- 0:12Speaker 1: Hey, everybody. Welcome to Pink Shade. It is Thursday. That
- 0:15Speaker 1: means we are going to talk about pop culture and Bravo.
- 0:18Speaker 1: And I have an expert here to discuss. But first,
- 0:21Speaker 1: I need to make an announcement. You guys, if you're
- 0:23Speaker 1: on Pink Shade Prime, $ 10 and up, that's a month,
- 0:26Speaker 1: not a week or a day. It's $ 10 a month.
- 0:29Speaker 1: It's really nothing. If you're on that level on Pink
- 0:32Speaker 1: Shade Prime tonight, we will have Pink Shade Live, which
- 0:35Speaker 1: we do every Thursday night. Me, Keisha, Kimberly, we talk
- 0:39Speaker 1: about things going on in pop culture news. And a
- 0:42Speaker 1: lot of times Keisha and Kimberly will try to explain
- 0:45Speaker 1: things to me like Mama June or Thousand Pound Sisters
- 0:49Speaker 1: shows that even though I get in the gutter, I
- 0:51Speaker 1: don't go quite that low. So they try to explain
- 0:54Speaker 1: those shows to me. So that's always a good time.
- 0:56Speaker 1: Last week when we did it, excuse me, last month
- 0:59Speaker 1: when we did it, we all showed our feet to
- 1:01Speaker 1: decide if we should try to go on only feet.
- 1:03Speaker 2: Oh, dear God.
- 1:04Speaker 1: None of us have made a dollar. You guys, my
- 1:08Speaker 1: guest today is the amazing Kate Casey celebrating her 10
- 1:13Speaker 1: years in podcasting.
- 1:14Speaker 2: 10 years. Isn't that crazy? Yeah. Where's the time gone?
- 1:20Speaker 1: If you would have had a party like Heather, I
- 1:22Speaker 1: would have come.
- 1:24Speaker 3: I did think about like, maybe I should have popped
- 1:27Speaker 3: some champagne or something.
- 1:28Speaker 2: I didn't do one thing. I know.
- 1:30Speaker 1: I would have flown my ass right out there. Yeah,
- 1:32Speaker 1: sure would. There's an opportunity that I might be going
- 1:36Speaker 1: to LA in a few weeks. And the person with
- 1:39Speaker 1: this event was like, well, we don't really pay for
- 1:42Speaker 1: people to fly, blah, blah, blah. I was like, I
- 1:45Speaker 1: don't think you know me. I'm not in that stratosphere
- 1:47Speaker 1: where somebody would pay me to come. Like, I'll pay
- 1:50Speaker 1: my own expenses. I just want to come kind of
- 1:52Speaker 1: a thing. And I was like, I've flown further for less. Like,
- 1:56Speaker 1: I'll do anything. Please just put me on a list
- 1:59Speaker 1: to be invited to something. It's all I want. I
- 2:00Speaker 1: just want to be invited.
- 2:02Speaker 2: The TLC sphere?
- 2:04Speaker 1: It is not TLC, but it's in that sphere.
- 2:07Speaker 2: In that sphere, yeah.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Yeah, it's not something that you would want to go to.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Don't worry.
- 2:11Speaker 3: Well, I did go to the one years ago, the
- 2:13Speaker 3: 90 Day Fiancé, when Paul from 90 Day Fiancé was
- 2:16Speaker 3: wearing the mosquito vest. And then he told me some
- 2:18Speaker 3: crazy stuff about his marriage and And then I talked
- 2:23Speaker 3: about a little bit on my show. And then I
- 2:25Speaker 3: got a call from TLC that he had called and complained.
- 2:29Speaker 3: And that was one of several experiences in my first
- 2:32Speaker 3: couple of years where I would meet a reality star
- 2:36Speaker 3: and they would tell me things. And then I'd say, oh,
- 2:39Speaker 3: I ran into so-and-so. And then they would complain about me. Like,
- 2:42Speaker 3: do you remember Thomas Ravenel had.
- 2:44Speaker 2: A crazy girlfriend?
- 2:46Speaker 3: Yes. She.
- 2:48Speaker 3: Yeah, she called me and I had like an hour conversation.
- 2:52Speaker 3: I was giving her life advice.
- 2:53Speaker 1: I remember that.
- 2:54Speaker 2: And then the next day I recorded it.
- 2:56Speaker 3: I was like, well, I talked to Ashley. She said
- 2:58Speaker 3: that they broke up. And then Dave Quinn wrote about
- 3:01Speaker 3: it for people.
- 3:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:02Speaker 3: And then I got a call from Bravo and they said,
- 3:05Speaker 3: you know, she's complained that, you know, you told secrets.
- 3:10Speaker 3: I'm like, why are you calling a podcaster and talking
- 3:14Speaker 3: to her for an hour and telling her all this
- 3:16Speaker 3: stuff if you didn't want it to get out? So then,
- 3:19Speaker 3: as you know, I just stopped talking to reality stars
- 3:22Speaker 3: about their stuff. I'm like, there are very few that
- 3:24Speaker 3: I will ever speak to because I just, I'm like,
- 3:27Speaker 3: don't give me info that you want dropped and then
- 3:31Speaker 3: act like you didn't do it.
- 3:33Speaker 2: I don't like that.
- 3:34Speaker 1: I completely agree. And I have some TLC cast that
- 3:41Speaker 1: I am friendly with that I do text with sometimes
- 3:44Speaker 1: to try to get some scoop. But if they say,
- 3:47Speaker 1: don't say it, then I don't say it.
- 3:49Speaker 2: Well, sure.
- 3:49Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Because I'm not a monster, but if they don't.
- 3:52Speaker 3: Let me be clear that the people that I got in,
- 3:54Speaker 3: you know, phone calls about, they never said.
- 3:57Speaker 2: Don't say it. And I was like, why would you
- 4:00Speaker 2: call me?
- 4:00Speaker 3: And like, oh, she, she seems like a lady that
- 4:04Speaker 3: is like a quasi therapist.
- 4:06Speaker 2: Maybe I could talk.
- 4:07Speaker 3: And I got mad too because I'm like, that was
- 4:09Speaker 3: an hour of my time that you wasted. I could
- 4:12Speaker 3: have been with my kids or something and you monopolized
- 4:15Speaker 3: my time and then twisted it and made it seem
- 4:18Speaker 3: like I was taking advantage of you.
- 4:19Speaker 2: Like, give me a break.
- 4:21Speaker 1: Do your kids go from age 17 to six?
- 4:26Speaker 2: Eight to 17.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Eight.
- 4:28Speaker 2: So high school senior to second grade.
- 4:32Speaker 1: You and I have been friends for a long time.
- 4:33Speaker 2: I know.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Because when you had that fourth baby.
- 4:38Speaker 3: She was a year, the fourth one I had just
- 4:41Speaker 3: a year in, you know, my podcast began a year
- 4:48Speaker 3: and a day after, you know, the fourth one was born.
- 4:53Speaker 1: The podcast began a year and a day after the
- 4:55Speaker 1: fourth one was born?
- 4:56Speaker 3: Yeah. Sutton was born September of 2015. And then my
- 5:00Speaker 3: podcast launched September 18th, 2016.
- 5:06Speaker 1: I feel that's not right.
- 5:08Speaker 2: No, it is right. Obviously you would know.
- 5:11Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:12Speaker 1: But I feel like when you did the reveal for
- 5:14Speaker 1: the fifth baby.
- 5:16Speaker 3: Yes.
- 5:17Speaker 2: That was two years into my podcast.
- 5:19Speaker 4: Okay. All right.
- 5:20Speaker 2: So, okay.
- 5:20Speaker 1: That's what I'm thinking. You had the fifth baby when
- 5:23Speaker 1: you did the tennis ball and it exploded.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Yes. I started crying.
- 5:28Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:29Speaker 1: And how old was Jack at that time?
- 5:32Speaker 2: I think he was like four.
- 5:35Speaker 1: He was four when you had.
- 5:36Speaker 2: Four or five, maybe five. He was five.
- 5:39Speaker 1: Because I was telling that story to my friend that's here, Emily,
- 5:43Speaker 1: who is like my best friend from college. And we
- 5:45Speaker 1: were in a store yesterday walking around and there's so
- 5:47Speaker 1: much stuff that says like bride or Mr. And Mrs.
- 5:50Speaker 1: And we were like, God, aren't we glad we didn't
- 5:53Speaker 1: have weddings during the time of this stuff? Or she
- 5:56Speaker 1: was like even better to have kids during the time
- 5:59Speaker 1: when you have to do like a gift box to
- 6:01Speaker 1: ask somebody to be a bridesmaid. And then plan these
- 6:04Speaker 1: elaborate trips.
- 6:05Speaker 2: I'm glad I missed that window, too.
- 6:07Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:08Speaker 3: But I didn't have bridesmaids at my wedding in Hawaii.
- 6:11Speaker 3: But I had bridesmaids the first wedding, though.
- 6:15Speaker 2: Well.
- 6:15Speaker 3: And I made them wear Ann Taylor sheath dresses that
- 6:18Speaker 3: were wool and red because I wanted red bridesmaids dresses.
- 6:21Speaker 2: The wedding was in June. Dumbass I was.
- 6:25Speaker 1: I recently on this show, maybe on Prime, talked about
- 6:28Speaker 1: my disdain for red bridesmaids dresses.
- 6:31Speaker 2: Oh, you did?
- 6:32Speaker 3: Mm-hmm. Yeah.
- 6:33Speaker 2: It's a difficult color and it doesn't look great on everybody. Yeah.
- 6:37Speaker 1: It doesn't. Do you wear red regularly yourself?
- 6:40Speaker 2: I do like red.
- 6:41Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 6:42Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 6:42Speaker 1: I think it'll get on your hair color. It looks
- 6:44Speaker 1: terrible on me.
- 6:45Speaker 2: But I have a sister.
- 6:46Speaker 1: Because your hair is blonde blonde.
- 6:48Speaker 3: My sister's brunette with olive skin and brown eyes and
- 6:50Speaker 3: she always tells me like I can't wear red.
- 6:53Speaker 2: I just feel like that's not true.
- 6:56Speaker 1: I think she's being mean.
- 6:58Speaker 2: She should.
- 6:58Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 6:59Speaker 2: Well, spend some time with her and you'll see. Yeah.
- 7:04Speaker 1: But I was telling Emily about that, about the hitting
- 7:06Speaker 1: of the ball. And she goes, oh, no. The little
- 7:08Speaker 1: boy cried. How old was he?
- 7:09Speaker 2: I go, eight.
- 7:11Speaker 1: I go, I don't know how old he was. I go,
- 7:12Speaker 1: she's got five kids. It was the fifth one. I
- 7:14Speaker 1: can't keep up. I go, I do try to make
- 7:16Speaker 1: sure I know all their names, though.
- 7:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:18Speaker 3: I was shocked because I really thought I was having
- 7:20Speaker 3: a boy. And so I think I talked to him.
- 7:23Speaker 3: I was like, I think this one's a boy. And
- 7:25Speaker 3: then he was just.
- 7:25Speaker 2: Real let down. But they're buddies.
- 7:29Speaker 3: Yeah, of course.
- 7:29Speaker 2: Caroline and Jack are real tight, so it's fine.
- 7:32Speaker 1: My– My nephew is pregnant with his third, and they
- 7:38Speaker 1: have two boys. And so every kid on every side
- 7:41Speaker 1: has a boy. So they just assume it's going to
- 7:42Speaker 1: be a boy. But me and the oldest little boy,
- 7:45Speaker 1: he's five. I'm like, fist pump. It's team girl.
- 7:50Speaker 2: When are you going to find out?
- 7:52Speaker 1: When the baby comes out.
- 7:53Speaker 2: I know, but when's the baby due?
- 7:55Speaker 1: The baby is, she's having the baby October 22nd, the
- 7:58Speaker 1: day after my birthday.
- 8:00Speaker 2: Oh, well, it's going to be born on your birthday.
- 8:02Speaker 3: Sorry.
- 8:03Speaker 2: I hope so.
- 8:04Speaker 1: We've got a lot to talk about because we've got
- 8:06Speaker 1: right now three shows going on.
- 8:08Speaker 2: We've got New York.
- 8:11Speaker 1: New episode aired on Tuesday. We record this on Wednesdays.
- 8:14Speaker 1: We've got Salt Lake City. Only one episode has been
- 8:17Speaker 1: out that I've seen. I think it comes on Thursdays.
- 8:20Speaker 1: And then Ultimate Girls Trip. Ultimate Girls Trip I'm enjoying
- 8:26Speaker 1: because I find it to be light and airy and
- 8:29Speaker 1: with a sprinkle of drunk Luann. I'm enjoying it. How about,
- 8:33Speaker 1: how do you feel? I know you're not, we're not
- 8:35Speaker 1: going to talk about OC cause I'm not watching it.
- 8:37Speaker 1: Ultimate Girl Strip.
- 8:38Speaker 2: How are you feeling?
- 8:41Speaker 3: Um, I, some of the cities I'm like that these
- 8:45Speaker 3: women really need to get some attention. Like OC in Miami,
- 8:50Speaker 3: they're just going over the top.
- 8:53Speaker 2: They, I mean, the Miami women are so mad.
- 8:56Speaker 3: About not being brought back that I think they're like,
- 8:58Speaker 3: let's stick it to Bravo and just like amp it up.
- 9:01Speaker 3: But it's like not translating well because the OGs are
- 9:06Speaker 3: just like, huh, what?
- 9:07Speaker 1: They didn't need to do the beach games. They should
- 9:09Speaker 1: just go to like a Miami nightclub. That's all they
- 9:11Speaker 1: needed to do. They didn't need to do beach games.
- 9:13Speaker 3: But also like to get into these dumb fights within
- 9:17Speaker 3: their cast.
- 9:18Speaker 2: Right. It's like you're missing a beat. You know, Chris
- 9:21Speaker 2: worked on it.
- 9:23Speaker 3: He went– The first episode was in the OC, so
- 9:28Speaker 3: the girls and I went down and had lunch with them.
- 9:30Speaker 2: That's right.
- 9:31Speaker 3: We went over to the hotel, and you had to
- 9:35Speaker 3: see how much luggage and crap the crew had. It
- 9:41Speaker 3: was like two rooms filled with equipment, and then to
- 9:44Speaker 3: know that the next day they were going to pack
- 9:45Speaker 3: it all up and then go all the way to
- 9:48Speaker 3: Kyle's house.
- 9:48Speaker 2: It's kind of.
- 9:50Speaker 3: Unbelievable, this traveling circus that they were able to do.
- 9:56Speaker 3: I think that Vicky is completely a waste of money.
- 10:00Speaker 3: I recorded with Carlos and I said to him, you
- 10:06Speaker 3: are a producer. Why would you allow a woman to
- 10:11Speaker 3: participate in a show like this and work while on
- 10:15Speaker 3: the clock for another.
- 10:18Speaker 1: Because it's just her brand.
- 10:20Speaker 2: He goes, oh my God, you're right. I was like,
- 10:23Speaker 2: why would you allow that?
- 10:25Speaker 3: You're getting paid for this job.
- 10:27Speaker 2: Put your computer away. Like what?
- 10:29Speaker 1: Great point, Kate. Great point.
- 10:30Speaker 2: I'm like, that's ridiculous.
- 10:32Speaker 3: And then also, okay, on the OC, you know, Vicky's
- 10:39Speaker 3: dating some weird guy, you know, Taylor's oldest time. And
- 10:43Speaker 3: she notes that. She's got that house in Cotto. She's
- 10:49Speaker 3: got the condo in Puerto Vallarta. And then she's this
- 10:52Speaker 3: property in Palm Springs. But she said she co-owns it
- 10:57Speaker 3: with a boyfriend.
- 10:58Speaker 2: But they're not married.
- 10:59Speaker 3: Now she spends so much time telling people that she's
- 11:03Speaker 3: like the go-to.
- 11:05Speaker 2: For financial advice.
- 11:07Speaker 3: And another thing I go, would you take a financial
- 11:09Speaker 3: advice for someone who bought a property with a boyfriend
- 11:11Speaker 3: who doesn't want to give.
- 11:12Speaker 2: Her a ring?
- 11:13Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:13Speaker 1: Well, he's going to give her a ring if she's nice, Kate.
- 11:16Speaker 1: She's got to be a good girl first.
- 11:17Speaker 2: I'm like, get this woman off my TV. I can't
- 11:19Speaker 2: stand her.
- 11:20Speaker 1: I don't mind, Vicki. It's hard for me to turn
- 11:25Speaker 1: on a housewife. The only housewife I never really just immediately, well,
- 11:28Speaker 1: there's several, but that I immediately disliked was Jen Shaw
- 11:31Speaker 1: the minute she came on my screen. I didn't like her.
- 11:34Speaker 1: And then I couldn't stand it. And then when she
- 11:37Speaker 1: was on Watch What Happens Live and had like a
- 11:39Speaker 1: bullhorn and had a huge hat and they were all
- 11:41Speaker 1: on screens because it was COVID and we were like No,
- 11:44Speaker 1: you're trying way too hard. Lydia, I never liked just because.
- 11:48Speaker 2: Oh, that was a hard one. Yeah.
- 11:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:50Speaker 3: I don't like the trad wife without the banana bread
- 11:55Speaker 3: kind of persona. Like that was Lydia and Alexis Bellino
- 12:00Speaker 3: in the early days.
- 12:00Speaker 2: I couldn't take her.
- 12:01Speaker 3: I just was like, this is not a modern story
- 12:05Speaker 3: for a woman to be like, my husband's the king
- 12:08Speaker 3: and like going to the mega churches.
- 12:10Speaker 4: Oh, God.
- 12:11Speaker 3: I just, I would love to know why she hasn't
- 12:14Speaker 3: said anything like, boy, I've learned so much since that marriage.
- 12:19Speaker 2: But maybe she still feels that way.
- 12:21Speaker 1: I think, Vicki, it's just, it's so interesting to me
- 12:25Speaker 1: that just on camera, she's constantly like, Don's the one
- 12:28Speaker 1: that got away.
- 12:29Speaker 2: Don's like, drop my name. Like, keep my name on
- 12:33Speaker 2: your list. Like, just stop. Drop it.
- 12:36Speaker 1: I think that. Either you or Heather or you or
- 12:39Speaker 1: Heather were talking together or she said, one of you
- 12:41Speaker 1: said it, that Vicki would really be a different person
- 12:47Speaker 1: if Brianna and those grandkids live close by.
- 12:49Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 12:50Speaker 1: Probably. Because she would have, that would kind of give
- 12:53Speaker 1: her purpose. And this is, I'm saying this as someone
- 12:57Speaker 1: who has sisters that have grandchildren and they're close by,
- 13:01Speaker 1: most of them. And it really gives you, you really
- 13:04Speaker 1: are very busy with it. And thrilled to be involved,
- 13:06Speaker 1: you know? And so I think if Rihanna was close
- 13:09Speaker 1: by and she could see those grandkids all the time,
- 13:10Speaker 1: she probably wouldn't be so focused on my man, my man,
- 13:14Speaker 1: my man, you know?
- 13:16Speaker 2: No, I think she'd always be like that. She's just
- 13:18Speaker 2: like one of those.
- 13:19Speaker 3: Losery women who would drop her girlfriends for a guy.
- 13:23Speaker 2: I don't like people like that. I'm like, hmm.
- 13:27Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a lesson we all learned in college. Don't
- 13:30Speaker 1: ever drop your girlfriends for a guy.
- 13:32Speaker 2: Don't ever drop it. She would. She'd be like, hmm.
- 13:37Speaker 2: I don't trust people like that.
- 13:39Speaker 1: But guess what? We're talking about Vicki.
- 13:43Speaker 2: Not for very long.
- 13:46Speaker 1: Okay, y'all. What is one thing you do to feel good?
- 13:49Speaker 1: For me, even if I'm just running some errands, I
- 13:52Speaker 1: always put on mascara. It gives me confidence that I
- 13:54Speaker 1: look okay when I go out because you never know
- 13:56Speaker 1: who you might run into. I could see producer Ingrid
- 13:59Speaker 1: at the store and she'd be like, girl, what's wrong
- 14:01Speaker 1: with you? You know, and also sometimes you need a
- 14:03Speaker 1: little refresh. So you might change up your lip color
- 14:06Speaker 1: or cut your hair a little shorter. These are all
- 14:08Speaker 1: just things you can do to spark a good mood
- 14:11Speaker 1: or give yourself a little boost. A refresh can be
- 14:14Speaker 1: as simple as amplifying your look with clean beauty from
- 14:16Speaker 1: Thrive Cosmetics. Like I said, just a new lipstick can
- 14:20Speaker 1: make you feel better. And with Thrive, every product is
- 14:22Speaker 1: 100% vegan, cruelty-free, and made with clean, skin-loving ingredients that
- 14:27Speaker 1: work with your skin, not against it. And I love
- 14:31Speaker 1: that Thrive Cosmetics gives back to the community. With over
- 14:34Speaker 1: $ 150 million in product and cash donations to over 600
- 14:39Speaker 1: giving partners, your purchase directly fuels real impact and that's
- 14:43Speaker 1: beauty with purpose. So lately I'm loving Thrive's Empower Matte
- 14:47Speaker 1: Precision Lipstick Crayon. I always have it in my purse.
- 14:51Speaker 1: I've got it in my desk at work. It goes
- 14:53Speaker 1: on creamy and lightweight and that is really great for
- 14:56Speaker 1: this lady of a certain age. I also love to
- 14:59Speaker 1: tell anyone who will listen about their Liquid Lash Extensions
- 15:02Speaker 1: Tubing Mascara. I only wear that mascara. And I recently
- 15:06Speaker 1: had somebody ask me if I had lash extensions. And
- 15:09Speaker 1: I said, what? No, thank you. And I immediately told
- 15:12Speaker 1: them to get this mascara from Thrive. I mean, one
- 15:15Speaker 1: brush on and you look completely different. I just love it.
- 15:19Speaker 1: So amplify your spring look with Thrive Cosmetics. Go to thrivecosmetics.com

- 15:42Speaker 1: Thoughts on Luann just getting so shit-faced and narcissistic on.
- 15:47Speaker 2: The girls' trip.
- 15:48Speaker 1: I'm like, well, there she is.
- 15:49Speaker 3: I have a hard time with people who talk nonstop
- 15:52Speaker 3: about themselves. And I also have this pet peeve. It
- 15:56Speaker 3: actually enrages me. if someone's in the middle of a
- 15:59Speaker 3: really interesting story and they're like, because I feel like
- 16:05Speaker 3: storytelling is such an intimate thing. And when you're sharing
- 16:10Speaker 3: something and someone's listening and it's like going both ways,
- 16:14Speaker 3: it's like magic.
- 16:15Speaker 2: It's pure magic.
- 16:18Speaker 3: And so when Luann interrupted that conversation where.
- 16:21Speaker 1: Oh, Marisol was talking.
- 16:26Speaker 3: About Mama Elsa. And everyone's just like caught up in
- 16:29Speaker 3: the story. And then she like.
- 16:32Speaker 2: Interjected. I really got angry.
- 16:35Speaker 3: I got angry for Marisol. Like she just wanted that
- 16:40Speaker 3: moment to share that story. And everybody was, it was
- 16:43Speaker 3: just such a special moment. I can't stand people who
- 16:46Speaker 3: do that.
- 16:47Speaker 1: I agree. And we obviously know people like this in
- 16:51Speaker 1: our lives. Everybody does. where you're talking, talking, and just
- 16:55Speaker 1: from over here, somebody else is either having a conversation
- 16:57Speaker 1: and you're like, I'm trying to listen or I'm trying
- 17:00Speaker 1: to tell something. And you, if you don't care, get
- 17:03Speaker 1: up from the table. You're just being so rude. I
- 17:06Speaker 1: hate it.
- 17:06Speaker 2: I gotta be honest with you.
- 17:08Speaker 3: Sometimes I get mad when children come up, like my
- 17:10Speaker 3: kids know never ever, because I make such a big deal.
- 17:14Speaker 2: Like if I'm speaking to an adult, do not interrupt me.
- 17:17Speaker 2: Do not.
- 17:18Speaker 3: You wait till I'm done talking and then you can
- 17:20Speaker 3: approach me. Do not interrupt me. I could, because it's
- 17:23Speaker 3: such a pet peeve of mine, but if I'm in
- 17:25Speaker 3: the middle of something and like a story and then someone's,
- 17:29Speaker 3: you know, and not a little kid, but like, I
- 17:33Speaker 3: don't know, like a 10 year old or something is like, yeah.
- 17:35Speaker 2: Mom, blah, blah, blah. I get, which is irrational, but
- 17:39Speaker 2: in my.
- 17:40Speaker 3: Brain, I'm like, I want to murder somebody because it's
- 17:45Speaker 3: just such a, like, When both people are so invested
- 17:49Speaker 3: in a story, it's like I don't want something to
- 17:52Speaker 3: come between it.
- 17:53Speaker 1: I agree.
- 17:55Speaker 2: I agree. By the way, my husband is the worst
- 17:59Speaker 2: at that.
- 17:59Speaker 3: There was one time and if he were here, he'd
- 18:04Speaker 3: be like, you talk to everybody. I was in a
- 18:06Speaker 3: boutique and I was talking to the woman that owns
- 18:09Speaker 3: the boutique and it was like 20 minutes into our conversation.
- 18:13Speaker 3: She says, I've never told anybody this before, but my
- 18:17Speaker 3: My mom's boyfriend went to Mexico and shot my dad.
- 18:23Speaker 2: And I've kept it a secret. And she's telling me this.
- 18:27Speaker 3: And Dan keeps calling me because he's trying to find
- 18:29Speaker 3: a parking spot. And then he found a parking spot
- 18:31Speaker 3: and he wanted to know when I was going to
- 18:34Speaker 3: come out and get in the car or whatever. And
- 18:36Speaker 3: I'm not picking up. And so he's walking down the
- 18:39Speaker 3: street and he's looking in every store.
- 18:41Speaker 2: And then he sees me. He comes in and he's like, hello?
- 18:43Speaker 3: Hello?
- 18:46Speaker 2: I'm like, I can't talk to you right now. And
- 18:48Speaker 2: then we went out.
- 18:49Speaker 1: Crazy story. Was the person ever like arrested?
- 18:51Speaker 2: And he's like, why weren't you picking up? And I'm like,
- 18:53Speaker 2: do you understand this woman? Just, he goes, who, who cares?
- 18:58Speaker 3: I'm like, she was unburdened for a moment in time.
- 19:03Speaker 3: And I got that information.
- 19:05Speaker 2: Yeah. And you are worried about the parking spot. Yeah.
- 19:09Speaker 1: I mean, while we're talking, I might get six calls
- 19:12Speaker 1: from my son yesterday. Um, And I'll just ignore them. Yesterday,
- 19:17Speaker 1: he called me. Now, there is. It's a news story.
- 19:21Speaker 1: There's a big crisis happening on the Ole Miss campus
- 19:24Speaker 1: with people having laced drugs and things. It's been on
- 19:27Speaker 1: the news. And so when he called me yesterday and
- 19:30Speaker 1: I was recording, I felt the need to pick up
- 19:31Speaker 1: because I didn't know if he knew some information to
- 19:34Speaker 1: tell me or what. No, he wanted to know if
- 19:37Speaker 1: I could send him a picture of a bird. He goes,
- 19:41Speaker 1: can you send me a picture of a bird? I said,
- 19:44Speaker 1: you know, there are birds in Mississippi that you could
- 19:46Speaker 1: also take a picture of. Like, what are you talking about?
- 19:47Speaker 1: He goes, yeah, my biology professor. when we come in
- 19:50Speaker 1: next time, wants us to show him a picture of
- 19:52Speaker 1: a squirrel and a bird that we took. I said,
- 19:57Speaker 1: I'm recording.
- 19:58Speaker 2: So I don't know. What?
- 20:01Speaker 1: Later, I was like.
- 20:02Speaker 2: I don't understand.
- 20:02Speaker 1: He goes, my biology professor is weird. I said, he
- 20:04Speaker 1: probably literally wants to make sure you guys are paying attention.
- 20:08Speaker 1: yeah and put the weirdest thing out there to see
- 20:10Speaker 1: oh i love.
- 20:11Speaker 4: That yeah yeah okay i'm gonna adopt that yeah so
- 20:14Speaker 4: i need a picture of a squirrel and a bird
- 20:16Speaker 4: i said okay well there really aren't a lot of
- 20:18Speaker 4: squirrels here on baldhead island at least not by my
- 20:20Speaker 4: house yeah but i've got a bird feeder because he
- 20:23Speaker 4: knows i'm obsessed with my bird feeder because i'm a
- 20:25Speaker 4: thousand years old and he goes can you take a
- 20:27Speaker 4: picture of one of those and then i'll say i
- 20:29Speaker 4: took it at the beach i was like okay or
- 20:32Speaker 4: you could just walk outside.
- 20:33Speaker 1: And wait for a bird to land to take a
- 20:34Speaker 1: picture i mean But that is what he was interrupting
- 20:37Speaker 1: me about. Sometimes it's what's the Hulu password.
- 20:40Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. Yeah, we get that a lot.
- 20:43Speaker 3: And when they do that, then my one daughter will
- 20:45Speaker 3: send 14 question marks.
- 20:48Speaker 2: Hello? Hello? Are you not? It's like, girl, I'm busy, man.
- 20:52Speaker 1: I'm working. Yeah. Now, this is what we say in
- 20:55Speaker 1: our house. I'll say, okay, so what if the opposite
- 20:57Speaker 1: is true? So what if I text you and you
- 21:01Speaker 1: don't answer to them? Because I text them and they
- 21:04Speaker 1: don't answer. But if they text me and I don't
- 21:07Speaker 1: answer immediately with the Hulu password or whatever, it's like, hello, hello, hello, hello, hello.
- 21:11Speaker 1: I'm like, it's not the same.
- 21:16Speaker 2: Okay.
- 21:16Speaker 1: Back to our shows. How are you feeling about New York?
- 21:22Speaker 2: Okay.
- 21:23Speaker 3: I think you could have gotten rid of all the
- 21:27Speaker 3: ones that were on.
- 21:27Speaker 2: The show before. Really? All three?
- 21:30Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 21:31Speaker 2: Just start anew.
- 21:32Speaker 3: I don't know why they kept them. I think that
- 21:36Speaker 3: Haley makes no sense because we don't even know the
- 21:40Speaker 3: real name of her husband.
- 21:41Speaker 2: We're never going to see him.
- 21:44Speaker 3: She doesn't have children. We don't see her parents except
- 21:47Speaker 3: for like a Zoom call. We don't know who her
- 21:50Speaker 3: friends are. Why would they cast somebody who seems to
- 21:57Speaker 3: have not a lot of people in her life and
- 21:59Speaker 3: also the small amount of them we will never see
- 22:02Speaker 3: and never know? All that we know about her is
- 22:05Speaker 3: she gets high all the time. She doesn't have a job.
- 22:07Speaker 1: What's the connection, though, with the other girls, though? That's
- 22:09Speaker 1: my question. What's her connection with them?
- 22:11Speaker 2: It's not even explained. So why is she on the show?
- 22:14Speaker 1: Because Daisy knew Psy from before.
- 22:16Speaker 3: I mean, she knew her years ago when they both
- 22:21Speaker 3: went to scores.
- 22:22Speaker 2: Like, it's not enough.
- 22:24Speaker 1: But at least it's something. With Haley, I don't know.
- 22:28Speaker 2: Why was she cast?
- 22:31Speaker 1: She's stunt casting because of the John Gosselin thing? Because
- 22:33Speaker 1: who cares?
- 22:34Speaker 2: Who gives a shit about that?
- 22:35Speaker 1: Who cares? Right.
- 22:37Speaker 2: I don't.
- 22:38Speaker 3: The classism. I was like, oh, that's a trigger for me.
- 22:42Speaker 3: The classism, going to Daisy's apartment and like shit talking
- 22:45Speaker 3: her popcorn ceilings. I'm just like, you're an asshole. Why
- 22:48Speaker 3: would you go to someone's house and then shit? By
- 22:50Speaker 3: the way, she lives in New York City.
- 22:52Speaker 2: It's expensive.
- 22:53Speaker 3: Most people could not live in New York City. It's
- 22:55Speaker 3: super expensive.
- 22:56Speaker 1: It appears they have a two bedroom apartment, which is
- 22:59Speaker 1: like a mansion anywhere else.
- 23:00Speaker 2: And rent controlled. She's the smart one.
- 23:02Speaker 1: Rent controlled. Never fucking leave.
- 23:04Speaker 2: Never.
- 23:05Speaker 1: My friend that's here with me, two of her kids
- 23:07Speaker 1: live in New York City. And she's like, That's a
- 23:10Speaker 1: rent-controlled apartment? Oh, no. You're never going to buy it.
- 23:14Speaker 1: You just pay that rent. Because you can imagine if
- 23:17Speaker 1: it's rent-controlled, it would probably be $ 10, 000 a month, and
- 23:20Speaker 1: maybe they're paying like $ 3, 000.
- 23:22Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 23:22Speaker 1: Just something crazy. That's what rent-controlled means, guys. It is
- 23:27Speaker 1: the rent that it was when it started. They can't
- 23:28Speaker 1: ever change it. But a two-bedroom apartment in New York
- 23:31Speaker 1: City is $ 10, 000 a month. Easy. Easy.
- 23:35Speaker 3: Also, what does Jessel do for a living? And what
- 23:38Speaker 3: does the husband do? He's just like a content creator.
- 23:41Speaker 3: How do they afford that lifestyle? I just feel like
- 23:44Speaker 3: most of these housewives, they're just really skimming it.
- 23:49Speaker 2: They must be in big.
- 23:50Speaker 3: Credit card debt because the outfits and the hair and
- 23:54Speaker 3: the makeup, I'm like, this is all going.
- 23:55Speaker 2: To catch up.
- 23:57Speaker 1: So Jessel's job, remember that, okay.
- 24:02Speaker 2: She did fashion PR, but we never see her at
- 24:04Speaker 2: the job.
- 24:06Speaker 1: Fashion PR, okay.
- 24:07Speaker 3: She probably got rid of that and she's just like
- 24:09Speaker 3: doing cameos now.
- 24:11Speaker 1: Just then when I typed her name, it literally comes
- 24:14Speaker 1: up with like some sort of serum she's promoting. But
- 24:19Speaker 1: she was– remember– I don't know if it was the
- 24:21Speaker 1: first or second season with this new cast that they
- 24:24Speaker 1: were impressed because they went to a party and she
- 24:26Speaker 1: actually did have real known names in the fashion world
- 24:29Speaker 1: were there. And they were like, okay, actually maybe her
- 24:31Speaker 1: job is legit.
- 24:34Speaker 2: Is that a job or you just know somebody?
- 24:36Speaker 1: I think maybe it was a job originally.
- 24:39Speaker 2: I want to know about your life.
- 24:41Speaker 3: Who are your friends? Who are your parents? What do
- 24:44Speaker 3: you do during the day? Even on OC, all we
- 24:47Speaker 3: do is we go to Heather Dubrow's, the penthouse downstairs
- 24:52Speaker 3: they bought and they're going to renovate it. What do
- 24:55Speaker 3: you do at 11 o'clock?
- 24:57Speaker 2: Do you go on a run? Do you go to
- 24:58Speaker 2: the gym? She makes TikToks. That's what she does. If
- 25:03Speaker 2: that's your life, that's not enough for a TV show.
- 25:06Speaker 1: That TikTok that I sent to you and Heather the
- 25:08Speaker 1: other day of Gina, Emily, and Shanna Medore doing some
- 25:14Speaker 1: sort of TikTok dance was the cringiest shit I have
- 25:16Speaker 1: ever seen in my life.
- 25:18Speaker 2: Do they make a lot of money from that? I
- 25:20Speaker 2: don't know. I don't know.
- 25:23Speaker 3: I'm just saying this. The TV show can't be you
- 25:26Speaker 3: make TikToks.
- 25:27Speaker 2: What's your life? Who do you hang out with?
- 25:30Speaker 3: What's your day like? Do you get up and there's
- 25:32Speaker 3: a butler there like getting you coffee? Okay, well, who's
- 25:34Speaker 3: your butler and what's their backstory?
- 25:36Speaker 2: Do you treat them well? Like give me something.
- 25:38Speaker 3: I just think the housewives is getting so boring just
- 25:41Speaker 3: like across because it's women that they keep for way
- 25:44Speaker 3: too long and then their whole personality is that I'm
- 25:47Speaker 3: a housewife and that's not why I want to watch
- 25:50Speaker 3: a show. I want to watch a show and know okay,
- 25:53Speaker 3: this is their, her marriage. This is her family. This
- 25:56Speaker 3: is like the complicated relationship she has with her sister
- 25:59Speaker 3: and her friends. That's why she doesn't like that one
- 26:00Speaker 3: because she is like, you know, been through this life
- 26:04Speaker 3: experience and it just conflicts.
- 26:06Speaker 2: With like, give me something.
- 26:07Speaker 3: I want to see teenage and college age kids because
- 26:11Speaker 3: they're my favorite because they'll call bullshit on a mom.
- 26:14Speaker 3: Like a toddler's not going to elementary. Now middle school,
- 26:17Speaker 3: they're just in their weird thing, but like a high
- 26:19Speaker 3: school or college, like if, It's the Real Housewives of podcasting.
- 26:24Speaker 3: And people go to your house and you're like, I'm
- 26:27Speaker 3: going to make some dinner for my family. And then
- 26:30Speaker 3: John's like, Mom, please stop pretending that you cook. I'm
- 26:34Speaker 3: not saying this is your– but they'll call bullshit. You
- 26:37Speaker 3: haven't cooked forever. What are you talking about?
- 26:40Speaker 1: They're like, Mom, you only know how to cook if
- 26:42Speaker 1: it's hella fresh. And that's true.
- 26:43Speaker 3: Like Vicky's son, Michael, he was the best because he'd
- 26:46Speaker 3: be like, you're insane.
- 26:48Speaker 2: Stop. That to me is entertaining.
- 26:51Speaker 1: Yes, I agree. Yeah, if you came to my house
- 26:54Speaker 1: and I was cooking dinner, it would just be a
- 26:57Speaker 1: lot of, ew, I don't like that, or gross, can
- 27:00Speaker 1: we have ketchup, or why do we have to have
- 27:02Speaker 1: family dinner?
- 27:02Speaker 2: It's stupid.
- 27:05Speaker 1: How come dad can have his phone at the table
- 27:06Speaker 1: but we can't?
- 27:07Speaker 2: It would be a lot of that. Yeah.
- 27:09Speaker 1: Yeah, a lot of that. Well, I think New York
- 27:13Speaker 1: is good. I think the Martha Stewart of it all
- 27:15Speaker 1: is entertaining. I didn't like how they shit on her apartment.
- 27:18Speaker 1: The girl that's married to the billionaire, we saw her
- 27:20Speaker 1: this week with her husband and the chef in the kitchen.
- 27:23Speaker 1: And I loved how the chef was like, you're going
- 27:25Speaker 1: to make your own dinner.
- 27:26Speaker 2: That's what I loved.
- 27:28Speaker 1: And then he watched them make dinner.
- 27:31Speaker 3: I have a feeling that the storyline for them is
- 27:35Speaker 3: that he's cheap.
- 27:37Speaker 2: They're cheap because they show.
- 27:40Speaker 3: Them on the island and there's a clip and they're like,
- 27:44Speaker 3: this is like gross.
- 27:46Speaker 2: I think, yeah.
- 27:47Speaker 1: Can you imagine going to someone's private island and they
- 27:49Speaker 1: showed it, they.
- 27:50Speaker 2: Showed the property, but I kind of dig that. Cause I'm, yeah,
- 27:54Speaker 2: I do think that's interesting.
- 27:55Speaker 3: Like, but you know, for me, for example, I was
- 28:02Speaker 3: raised with a stepfather who was the product of like
- 28:05Speaker 3: the depression.
- 28:06Speaker 2: Right.
- 28:07Speaker 3: So he used to constantly talk to me about like,
- 28:10Speaker 3: every light has to be off. You can't like, what
- 28:12Speaker 3: a waste of money. This is like, you're going to
- 28:13Speaker 3: have the biggest electric bill or turn the water off.
- 28:16Speaker 3: So even as an older person, when my husband leaves
- 28:19Speaker 3: water on and walks out of her room brushing teeth,
- 28:22Speaker 3: I'm getting like agita. And I didn't grow up with
- 28:28Speaker 3: any money. Like if I went to the mall, I'd
- 28:30Speaker 3: be like, mom, I really love that sweater. She'd be like, well,
- 28:32Speaker 3: we don't have the money for it. I can't ever
- 28:35Speaker 3: turn that volume down.
- 28:37Speaker 2: Of course.
- 28:37Speaker 3: It will never, never, never go away. So I want
- 28:41Speaker 3: to know, is her husband like that? And maybe that's why...
- 28:45Speaker 3: he makes some of the choices he does.
- 28:48Speaker 2: She, she said last.
- 28:49Speaker 3: Night that she grew up well off because her father
- 28:52Speaker 3: was a doctor in Waco.
- 28:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 28:56Speaker 3: But maybe the husband, like, and that to me is
- 28:58Speaker 3: interesting about people, like things that happened to you as
- 29:01Speaker 3: a child, they create the foundation for your persona. And
- 29:06Speaker 3: like a lot of that doesn't ever go away. Yes.
- 29:11Speaker 1: I think you're right. I think that will be interesting.
- 29:13Speaker 1: I'm interested in them. I'm interested in her because when
- 29:17Speaker 1: we first see her, you know, she's teaching kickboxing, kickboxing classes,
- 29:20Speaker 1: or she's rented her dress or whatever. And then third
- 29:24Speaker 1: episode in, then we meet the husband, which I liked
- 29:27Speaker 1: because he is a billionaire and they do have a, and.
- 29:29Speaker 2: By the way, smart.
- 29:32Speaker 3: No, some people would go, why is a billionaire on
- 29:34Speaker 3: this television show? Because he's built rewards. They've advertised on podcasts.
- 29:42Speaker 3: I think that company is savvy. If she's like, I
- 29:45Speaker 3: want to have something for myself other than boxing classes.
- 29:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 29:50Speaker 3: He's smart to go, oh yeah, that would look good
- 29:52Speaker 3: for the company. Then they're going to see me as
- 29:54Speaker 3: the CEO and my home story. And then they're going
- 29:56Speaker 3: to feel attached to our family unit and want to like, you.
- 30:02Speaker 1: Know, assuming nothing shady is going on there, then yeah,
- 30:04Speaker 1: it'll be fine.
- 30:05Speaker 2: I know all that.
- 30:06Speaker 3: That's that, that's going to be interesting to see like what's,
- 30:09Speaker 3: what's really going on.
- 30:10Speaker 1: But now we're all saying built rewards. I mean, you know,
- 30:12Speaker 1: like last night when my friend and I were watching
- 30:14Speaker 1: it and she hasn't watched it in years. And cause
- 30:16Speaker 1: she was like, tell me about, it's interesting when you
- 30:18Speaker 1: said too, um, cause I was like, Oh, this guy
- 30:21Speaker 1: does built rewards. She was like, Oh, I've heard of that.
- 30:23Speaker 1: And so we're talking about it. So it's, it's got
- 30:25Speaker 1: the achieved effect, but the desired effect, but when Jessel
- 30:30Speaker 1: came on, she was like, okay, pause it. Now tell
- 30:32Speaker 1: me what she does. And so I go, well, she
- 30:35Speaker 1: used to be PR for fashion. I don't know if
- 30:37Speaker 1: she still does it, but, and then I told her
- 30:39Speaker 1: all about Povit. I said, he, I think was literally
- 30:42Speaker 1: like in finance. He had like a regular well-earning job
- 30:47Speaker 1: and he quit to become a food influencer. Cause he
- 30:49Speaker 1: got a little of attention on the show for using
- 30:52Speaker 1: his miles to go get a sandwich in Vietnam. Cause
- 30:55Speaker 1: he had to do a round trip to get a status.
- 30:59Speaker 1: And I said, so then it kind of became a thing,
- 31:00Speaker 1: like how stupid that was. But then he quit his
- 31:03Speaker 1: job to become a food influencer. She's like, what?
- 31:06Speaker 3: A person in the know told me that both Aaron
- 31:11Speaker 3: and Jessel's husbands were the ones that wanted their wives
- 31:14Speaker 3: on the show. Jessel never even watched the show before.
- 31:17Speaker 3: Pavit was like, you got to go. Like, I think
- 31:19Speaker 3: they may even moved to New York City so she
- 31:23Speaker 3: could be on the show. And Aaron's husband is the
- 31:25Speaker 3: attorney for for Dumois and is like in those circles.
- 31:30Speaker 3: And he was like, yeah. And he was like, you
- 31:33Speaker 3: got to get on the show. So that, so that's
- 31:35Speaker 3: why we see them a lot probably. Cause they're okay
- 31:38Speaker 3: with it because they kind of, they think it's all great.
- 31:41Speaker 1: He was miked. I watched what happens live. He was
- 31:43Speaker 1: in the audience and he was miked.
- 31:45Speaker 2: Yeah. Her husband, like they're real into it.
- 31:48Speaker 1: Her husband is the attorney for Dumois.
- 31:50Speaker 2: That's what I was told. Yeah.
- 31:53Speaker 1: That's if that's true. And we, that's what, Kate has heard,
- 31:58Speaker 1: that's probably pretty lucrative because Dumas probably gets sued a lot.
- 32:02Speaker 2: I don't know, though. I bet so.
- 32:06Speaker 3: I think she's probably figured out a way to not
- 32:10Speaker 3: get sued.
- 32:11Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't even know who Dumas is, nor do
- 32:13Speaker 1: I care. I mean, I think it came out who
- 32:17Speaker 1: Dumas was, right?
- 32:18Speaker 2: Yeah, probably. Yeah, it's hard to keep that undercover, but
- 32:22Speaker 2: people still care about gossip.
- 32:24Speaker 1: Oh, I care about gossip. Yeah, but I just don't
- 32:26Speaker 1: care about who it is.
- 32:27Speaker 2: Oh, like who the persona is. I don't know if
- 32:29Speaker 2: it's even important. Yeah.
- 32:31Speaker 1: I definitely care about gossip. Are you kidding? Okay, New
- 32:35Speaker 1: York City, Salt Lake. So Salt Lake, we started off
- 32:39Speaker 1: with what I think was an interesting way where they
- 32:43Speaker 1: did it, where they showed Mary and Cousin Jo, who
- 32:46Speaker 1: I guess is now just going to be her sidekick
- 32:47Speaker 1: since Robert, her husband, refuses to.
- 32:49Speaker 2: Be on the show.
- 32:50Speaker 3: But I think he's coming back onto the show and
- 32:52Speaker 3: that makes me worry. Yeah.
- 32:54Speaker 2: They showed a clip.
- 32:56Speaker 1: Are you sure?
- 32:58Speaker 3: Yes. They show it for this coming, this next episode.
- 33:00Speaker 3: And she's like, thank you so much. You know, I
- 33:03Speaker 3: couldn't have done this without you. You're the best partner.
- 33:05Speaker 2: I'm like, what.
- 33:08Speaker 3: Are I, you know, you and I have thought a
- 33:11Speaker 3: lot about the, their dynamic because we interviewed the, the
- 33:15Speaker 3: filmmakers for that doc.
- 33:18Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 33:20Speaker 2: I worry about the childhood that Mary had.
- 33:24Speaker 3: And this man was married to her grandmother. And then
- 33:27Speaker 3: she ends up married to him. Yeah. I mean, people
- 33:30Speaker 3: have to really like sit on that for a second.
- 33:33Speaker 3: Like she was young.
- 33:38Speaker 1: But, you know, according to the other people in the documentary,
- 33:41Speaker 1: you know, she sort of pursued him.
- 33:42Speaker 2: But that doesn't make sense.
- 33:46Speaker 3: You know, do you see how twisted that is? Like,
- 33:49Speaker 3: She pursued an older man?
- 33:51Speaker 2: No.
- 33:52Speaker 1: Her grandmother's husband.
- 33:55Speaker 2: That is so twisted.
- 33:56Speaker 1: She wanted to be head of the church.
- 33:58Speaker 3: It's not the fault of the man who's preying on
- 34:01Speaker 3: a younger girl. Right.
- 34:02Speaker 2: You know what I mean? Right, right, right.
- 34:04Speaker 1: Well, I liked the way they did it. It liked
- 34:11Speaker 1: being a relative term here because we were talking about
- 34:14Speaker 1: somebody who died. I liked the way they did it
- 34:17Speaker 1: and that it showed her hope, you know, when he
- 34:20Speaker 1: got out.
- 34:20Speaker 2: Yeah, it's heartbreaking.
- 34:22Speaker 1: That was hard. And then it was like two weeks later,
- 34:24Speaker 1: you know, he had passed, you know, in his room.
- 34:28Speaker 1: And then people were very upset that they were filming
- 34:31Speaker 1: in his room and stuff with his dog. But I
- 34:34Speaker 1: think if she's like, hey, let's go. Let me show
- 34:37Speaker 1: you what I'm doing.
- 34:38Speaker 2: Go up here.
- 34:39Speaker 1: I mean, what's the crew going to be like? No,
- 34:42Speaker 1: we don't think that's appropriate, you know?
- 34:43Speaker 3: Well, I think you have to really... respect that everybody
- 34:47Speaker 3: grieves in their own way. And there are some parents
- 34:50Speaker 3: that close the room off and they never want anybody
- 34:52Speaker 3: to ever go into it. For Mary, maybe that made
- 34:55Speaker 3: her feel close to him. And I think that the
- 34:59Speaker 3: crew members have been in our home so much in
- 35:01Speaker 3: the last couple of years. When she says, you guys
- 35:05Speaker 3: are my family now, she's really talking about the crew too.
- 35:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 35:10Speaker 1: The Bravo family. And you think, okay, you do have
- 35:12Speaker 1: a husband.
- 35:13Speaker 3: And Well, that's what I was like, Mary, what? Like,
- 35:17Speaker 3: in that clip, I'm like, where has this guy been?
- 35:19Speaker 3: It feels like you've been doing this all on your own.
- 35:22Speaker 2: Right.
- 35:23Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 35:24Speaker 2: Oh, my God.
- 35:25Speaker 1: I want to tell you something. If you ever want
- 35:26Speaker 1: to be entertained, which I know you do, our friends
- 35:31Speaker 1: Dylan and Pat, their Salt Lake City recap, Patrick Hickey
- 35:36Speaker 1: is so unhinged about Mary Cosby and how much he
- 35:40Speaker 1: hates her and how much he thinks she's a horrible person.
- 35:44Speaker 1: human and a horrible mother. And it is unhinged. I
- 35:48Speaker 1: sent him a text because I listened to the episode
- 35:50Speaker 1: and I wrote him, I go, number one, that was
- 35:52Speaker 1: cousin Joe at the beginning, not her husband. And number two,
- 35:55Speaker 1: something else. And he wrote back, MP, was I too
- 35:58Speaker 1: hard on Mary Cosby telling the truth? I go, you
- 36:00Speaker 1: already know the answer. It was terrible. It was terrible
- 36:03Speaker 1: what you said.
- 36:04Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 36:05Speaker 1: I'm always trying to promote them because I think if
- 36:06Speaker 1: people don't get, you gotta, you gotta, you gotta have
- 36:09Speaker 1: a tough skin to listen. You can't, you can't be offended.
- 36:11Speaker 3: No.
- 36:12Speaker 1: Because But holy shit, their episode.
- 36:15Speaker 4: Just go take it.
- 36:15Speaker 2: Scorch her.
- 36:18Speaker 1: Every time Dylan tries to like bring it around, Patrick, no, no, no, no, no.
- 36:22Speaker 1: Would you let a film crew? I mean, he's just,
- 36:25Speaker 1: he really hates her. Really hates her.
- 36:28Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 36:28Speaker 2: Yeah. I don't know.
- 36:30Speaker 3: But then I don't like how Angie had all the
- 36:34Speaker 3: women over and she's like sitting there like, listen, we
- 36:37Speaker 3: got to like just cut the shit and just be
- 36:39Speaker 3: of support to each other.
- 36:40Speaker 2: Like this really sucks.
- 36:42Speaker 3: And Meredith's just sitting there like smirking cause she hates Whitney.
- 36:47Speaker 3: And I was just like, this is, you're so disconnected
- 36:50Speaker 3: from reality. Like you can't just like sit in this moment.
- 36:54Speaker 3: I think I said it on threads.
- 36:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 36:57Speaker 3: Over arching feeling I have is like women, we need
- 37:01Speaker 3: other women when anything happens. We need other women. Like
- 37:06Speaker 3: your spouse can't do it all for us, you know?
- 37:10Speaker 3: You need your women friends. Always, always. Just take a beat,
- 37:14Speaker 3: sit together, and Meredith couldn't participate.
- 37:18Speaker 2: I'm like, I don't know. She needs to go.
- 37:19Speaker 1: She's sitting there like, is anybody going to comment on
- 37:22Speaker 1: my facelifts? Look how amazing I look.
- 37:24Speaker 2: But like, I hate Whitney. And I'm like, I don't
- 37:26Speaker 2: want to hear about your fight with Whitney right now.
- 37:28Speaker 1: Everybody just sit in the, you have to sometimes just
- 37:30Speaker 1: sit with people that you don't really like. It's for
- 37:33Speaker 1: a common good of another friend.
- 37:36Speaker 3: If you can't get past something, you shouldn't be on
- 37:38Speaker 3: these shows. You just can't because.
- 37:41Speaker 2: That's the whole thing.
- 37:42Speaker 1: Why is she even mad at Whitney? Oh, because Whitney
- 37:44Speaker 1: went on stage and made fun of her when she
- 37:46Speaker 1: was drunk? Yeah.
- 37:48Speaker 2: Okay. That's the name of the game.
- 37:50Speaker 1: I'm sorry.
- 37:50Speaker 2: That's what you sign up for. You got to move.
- 37:52Speaker 2: That's the name of the game. You got to move on.
- 37:53Speaker 2: You got to go, all right, well, that sucked, but
- 37:56Speaker 2: I have to work with you. Yeah.
- 37:58Speaker 1: Well, I think she's a whore, so who cares?
- 38:00Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. It's like this.
- 38:02Speaker 3: What if it's a company- And you found out like
- 38:06Speaker 3: the original CEO, like the founder of the company died
- 38:11Speaker 3: and you bring the company together to talk about it
- 38:14Speaker 3: and the memories and the mission of the company.
- 38:16Speaker 2: Right.
- 38:17Speaker 3: And the chief marketing officer is smirking at the end
- 38:20Speaker 3: of the table because they're fighting with the.
- 38:22Speaker 2: Head of sales.
- 38:24Speaker 3: And you'd be like, is this really like the.
- 38:27Speaker 2: Time to talk about your stupid shit? Yeah. That's how
- 38:31Speaker 2: I felt.
- 38:31Speaker 3: Okay. Okay.
- 38:32Speaker 1: Good analogy, KKC. This is why you're KKC. That's really good.
- 38:36Speaker 1: That's really good. And I think that it's like we've
- 38:39Speaker 1: all been in these situations in life where somebody dies.
- 38:43Speaker 1: There's some sort of drama, a tragedy with a friend
- 38:46Speaker 1: who I'll give a life example. You know, like my
- 38:49Speaker 1: husband goes to rehab. Well, all the friends have to
- 38:51Speaker 1: gather together to support me. Now, whether these two friends
- 38:54Speaker 1: over here didn't get along two weeks ago about something,
- 38:57Speaker 1: they don't care because they're all there for the common
- 38:59Speaker 1: good to support the friend that needs them. So I
- 39:03Speaker 1: agree that I, at the end of it, Whitney's like,
- 39:06Speaker 1: and we all have some healing to do from my
- 39:08Speaker 1: healing journey because I'm on another healing journey. This healing
- 39:11Speaker 1: journey is healing from drinking too much. I'm like, okay,
- 39:14Speaker 1: every season you got a healing journey.
- 39:16Speaker 2: About something else. God bless. Okay.
- 39:19Speaker 1: I want to see her date. I want to see
- 39:21Speaker 1: her date and get Justin mad. That's what I want
- 39:23Speaker 1: to say.
- 39:24Speaker 3: Yeah. Well, I think she doesn't want to get a
- 39:26Speaker 3: divorce because it would be the second divorce and she
- 39:28Speaker 3: met him like- under bad circumstances, right?
- 39:33Speaker 1: Well, not bad circumstances. They were having an affair.
- 39:37Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 39:37Speaker 3: So I think that she's probably like, oh, this is
- 39:40Speaker 3: going to look bad if I get another divorce. I
- 39:43Speaker 3: think a lot of women stay together for that kind
- 39:45Speaker 3: of stuff.
- 39:45Speaker 1: It's like Ross on Friends. He didn't want to be
- 39:47Speaker 1: divorced three times.
- 39:48Speaker 3: I think my mom stayed with my stepfather who was horrible, horrible,
- 39:53Speaker 3: much older man, horrible man, horrible to her children. I
- 39:57Speaker 3: think she was just like, this is my fourth marriage.
- 39:59Speaker 2: I got to make it work.
- 40:02Speaker 1: So y'all were heading into fall and it's time to
- 40:05Speaker 1: get rid of stuff in your closet. I call it
- 40:07Speaker 1: fall clean out. I really love it. I end up
- 40:10Speaker 1: getting rid of so much stuff that I didn't wear
- 40:12Speaker 1: all summer and also stuff that I never wore last fall.
- 40:16Speaker 1: But what I never get rid of are my quince pieces.
- 40:19Speaker 1: My quince pieces are the staples of my fall wardrobe.
- 40:22Speaker 1: The cashmere cardigans are perfect for this time of year.
- 40:25Speaker 1: You could just throw them on if it gets chilly.
- 40:27Speaker 1: I always have one nearby, white or black, of course,
- 40:31Speaker 1: because I'm basic. And I'm also obsessed with their stretch denim.
- 40:35Speaker 1: It's so great for this time of year because it's
- 40:36Speaker 1: stretchy and it's light and it doesn't feel too hot
- 40:40Speaker 1: because it's not quite winter yet. Lately, I have been
- 40:43Speaker 1: on a Quince shoe kick. I just got the cutest
- 40:46Speaker 1: boots are going to look great on my upcoming trip.
- 40:49Speaker 1: And since I'm doing so much traveling, I just added
- 40:51Speaker 1: another Quince suitcase, blue, to my collection and an Italian
- 40:55Speaker 1: leather travel bag for the plane because I need to
- 40:58Speaker 1: look chic while I'm traveling. Quince makes elevated everyday essentials
- 41:03Speaker 1: using premium materials like Mongolian cashmere, organic cotton, and washable silk.
- 41:08Speaker 1: The designs are timeless, thoughtfully crafted, and made to be
- 41:11Speaker 1: worn again and again every which is great because I'm
- 41:13Speaker 1: literally wearing all of my Quince pieces over and over.
- 41:17Speaker 1: And did you also know they have beautiful 14 karat
- 41:20Speaker 1: gold jewelry and so many amazing home items? They even
- 41:23Speaker 1: have baby stuff, y'all. Everything at Quince is priced 80
- 41:27Speaker 1: to 50% less than similar brands. They work directly with
- 41:30Speaker 1: ethical factories and cut out the middleman. So you're paying
- 41:33Speaker 1: for quality, not brand markup. Quince brings that same approach
- 41:37Speaker 1: to everything they make from hotel quality bedding and bath
- 41:40Speaker 1: to kitchen essentials and thoughtfully designed furniture. Quince makes well-designed

- 42:08Speaker 1: dot com slash pinkshade. We're dealing with that on TLC
- 42:15Speaker 1: right now. There's Patrick and Thais, and this is his
- 42:20Speaker 1: second marriage. And his brother comes on and goes, 50%
- 42:24Speaker 1: of first marriages fail, 63% of second marriages fail, 75%
- 42:29Speaker 1: of third marriages fail. Why would you ever say you
- 42:31Speaker 1: would be happy with getting married again? Like, what's wrong
- 42:34Speaker 1: with you?
- 42:34Speaker 2: Yeah, great point, great point, great point.
- 42:36Speaker 1: And he's like, I just want to be, I like
- 42:37Speaker 1: to be married. He goes, you like to be married,
- 42:40Speaker 1: but you don't, do it right. Yes.
- 42:46Speaker 3: Do we both believe that Heather's boyfriend is an opportunist
- 42:49Speaker 3: and gross?
- 42:51Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 42:52Speaker 1: I've heard a lot of people saying that on shows
- 42:55Speaker 1: and I don't know him enough yet. Just because he
- 42:59Speaker 1: went on the show and just because he went on
- 43:01Speaker 1: a red carpet doesn't mean he doesn't really like her.
- 43:03Speaker 1: I think he likes being.
- 43:07Speaker 3: I think he gives me the same Jared vibes. It's
- 43:12Speaker 3: not about the woman. It's about the opportunity to be
- 43:15Speaker 3: on TV.
- 43:17Speaker 1: People are like, I cannot believe that they didn't have
- 43:19Speaker 1: Brittany come to this conversation. I was like, they needed
- 43:22Speaker 1: it to be the core group. They didn't need Brittany.
- 43:24Speaker 2: Yeah, but Mary hates Brittany. Right.
- 43:27Speaker 1: But Mary wasn't there, you know?
- 43:29Speaker 2: Still. Yeah, no.
- 43:31Speaker 1: I mean, God bless Brittany. She's just sort of like
- 43:36Speaker 1: the punchline they have to keep around, you know, and
- 43:38Speaker 1: that's too bad.
- 43:38Speaker 2: I don't think they need to keep her around at all.
- 43:40Speaker 2: I'd get rid of her.
- 43:41Speaker 1: Well, I would too. She doesn't offer anything. I guess
- 43:44Speaker 1: it's funny because she's ridiculous. But she's another one of
- 43:47Speaker 1: those people that like has leaned into the ting, ting,
- 43:49Speaker 1: ting and has something to say, you know, leaning into
- 43:51Speaker 1: like her tagline of it all like glip.
- 43:54Speaker 3: I also think that they all hate, everybody hates everybody.
- 43:58Speaker 2: And that's a problem on this show. Hmm.
- 44:02Speaker 3: I don't think, I don't think they really have like deep,
- 44:06Speaker 3: I think they're like, prisoners, you know, like, oh, we're,
- 44:10Speaker 3: we all have this common bond that we, you know,
- 44:12Speaker 3: had this traumatic life experience being in prison together. But
- 44:16Speaker 3: after we get out of here, you're not hearing from
- 44:19Speaker 3: me again.
- 44:20Speaker 2: Yeah. Did you watch? Like in Miami, you feel that.
- 44:25Speaker 3: I feel like those women, although they can be very performative,
- 44:28Speaker 3: I do think that they care about one another.
- 44:29Speaker 2: I agree. I don't care. I don't, I don't think
- 44:32Speaker 2: that the Salt Lake people care about each other at all.
- 44:34Speaker 1: Ultimate girls trip. Are they completely skipping Dallas like it
- 44:38Speaker 1: didn't happen?
- 44:39Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 44:40Speaker 1: Like there were many seasons of that show.
- 44:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 44:44Speaker 1: I mean Miami is canceled and they had them on here,
- 44:46Speaker 1: but Dallas.
- 44:47Speaker 2: I think it's been too far off.
- 44:51Speaker 3: I think they want to like clean up the plates
- 44:53Speaker 3: and pretend like there wasn't a fight in the kitchen.
- 44:56Speaker 2: Yeah. Like it's just dead, dead in the water.
- 45:01Speaker 1: Well, that makes me sad.
- 45:02Speaker 2: Are they going to get Leigh-Anne Locken?
- 45:03Speaker 1: I mean, she's... Yeah, she's fucking nuts.
- 45:06Speaker 2: That would be great.
- 45:07Speaker 1: Or maybe she's too much of a... Maybe they're just
- 45:10Speaker 1: like the whole thing with like Vicky and Shannon fighting
- 45:13Speaker 1: at the first party. They were like, this is not
- 45:14Speaker 1: what this show is about, so you don't get to
- 45:16Speaker 1: come back. Maybe they were like, they were too afraid
- 45:18Speaker 1: Leigh-Anne Locken and, you know, that crazy redheaded girl would
- 45:22Speaker 1: try to hijack it.
- 45:23Speaker 3: Now, the ultimate girls trip when they go to Rhode Island,
- 45:25Speaker 3: or they get the Rhode Island girls that come to
- 45:28Speaker 3: the Berkshires.
- 45:30Speaker 3: That show hadn't even aired yet. So let's see how
- 45:34Speaker 3: everyone treats those women. They're probably like your pond scum.
- 45:37Speaker 3: But meanwhile, that show was a big time hit. Yeah.
- 45:41Speaker 1: Ooh, that's good.
- 45:42Speaker 2: That's good.
- 45:42Speaker 1: And that's coming up in a couple of weeks, right?
- 45:44Speaker 1: We've got to be almost done.
- 45:44Speaker 2: They're going to be like, who are you? Who are
- 45:46Speaker 2: you people? Like, what's your name? Like, you don't matter.
- 45:48Speaker 2: Do you work here? It's like, bring me a drink.
- 45:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 45:52Speaker 2: Bring me a drink.
- 45:52Speaker 3: But it's like their show is way better than a
- 45:55Speaker 3: lot of the other franchises.
- 45:56Speaker 1: Yeah, it is.
- 45:57Speaker 2: Okay.
- 45:58Speaker 1: Okay. Did you watch the first two episodes of The Traitors?
- 46:03Speaker 2: I did. Yeah. I liked it.
- 46:04Speaker 1: With the normies, I loved it.
- 46:06Speaker 2: Today on my show, I have Madeline. Okay.
- 46:09Speaker 1: Which one is she?
- 46:10Speaker 2: She was the one who got kicked off.
- 46:13Speaker 3: Christy said that she had said, I don't know.
- 46:17Speaker 2: I feel bad about kicking off Kim.
- 46:20Speaker 1: Kim.
- 46:21Speaker 2: Not Kim.
- 46:21Speaker 4: Okay.
- 46:22Speaker 3: Okay. Madeline is the girl who's the construction manager.
- 46:27Speaker 1: Oh, so pretty.
- 46:28Speaker 2: Yeah, pretty girl. She's on my show today.
- 46:31Speaker 1: Okay. I loved looking at her. And when I love
- 46:34Speaker 1: to look at somebody, I get sad when I don't.
- 46:36Speaker 2: Have them on my team. You know what she did say?
- 46:37Speaker 1: She's very interesting.
- 46:39Speaker 2: I was like, hmm. She talks about the sexism.
- 46:42Speaker 3: And I was like, hmm, you're right. By the way,
- 46:46Speaker 3: she's six feet tall. Yeah, she said, I have definitely
- 46:50Speaker 3: a commanding presence, and I've been working around dudes. And
- 46:54Speaker 3: I am very strong in my convictions, and that can.
- 46:57Speaker 2: Be a lot for people.
- 47:01Speaker 3: But she was like, why am I taking all the heat,
- 47:03Speaker 3: but Victor's scot-free?
- 47:06Speaker 1: Because he was sitting right there, too.
- 47:08Speaker 3: Oh, she said when they went around the round table,
- 47:12Speaker 3: it was like, Madeline, Madeline, Madeline.
- 47:14Speaker 2: Very few people said Victor.
- 47:16Speaker 1: But he should have said, I did not hear her
- 47:18Speaker 1: say that. I think she did not say that. He
- 47:20Speaker 1: should have been more convincing. But once he could see
- 47:23Speaker 1: the writing on the wall, everybody's just there to save themselves.
- 47:26Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 47:27Speaker 3: Oh, she also said they played it up that there
- 47:31Speaker 3: was some sort of showman. She was like, maybe I
- 47:33Speaker 3: flirted a little bit. But she said, I was actually
- 47:35Speaker 3: much closer to a bunch of other people.
- 47:37Speaker 1: But also, it's like day two.
- 47:39Speaker 3: Right.
- 47:40Speaker 1: So you're not talking to somebody on day two.
- 47:42Speaker 2: I did it.
- 47:44Speaker 3: My alliance was the people that I rode in the
- 47:46Speaker 3: car with. And I said, is that really a good idea?
- 47:50Speaker 1: But I mean, when you don't know, you literally don't
- 47:52Speaker 1: know these people. So if you, at least with you
- 47:54Speaker 1: going with the celebrities, you may not know everybody, but
- 47:56Speaker 1: you know that person was on Survivor. So you could
- 47:59Speaker 1: go with what they're, or I saw that person on Housewives.
- 48:02Speaker 1: I love that show. At least you got a sense
- 48:06Speaker 1: of somebody. It may not be all 20 people, but
- 48:08Speaker 1: you may know of two people or somebody may tell
- 48:11Speaker 1: you they were on Big Brother, da, da, da, da.
- 48:13Speaker 1: But here, it is literally just people from far and wide.
- 48:17Speaker 1: We've got a funeral director. We've got a basketball coach
- 48:19Speaker 1: that's really a lawyer. I really thought I wasn't going
- 48:24Speaker 1: to like it, and now I'm obsessed.
- 48:27Speaker 2: Oh, I actually– yeah, no, I like it.
- 48:28Speaker 3: By the way, Kim, dum-dum for coming up with the
- 48:31Speaker 3: college basketball idea.
- 48:33Speaker 2: Why did she say that? Why?
- 48:34Speaker 1: We were like, why did she say that?
- 48:36Speaker 2: Because– Excuse me.
- 48:39Speaker 1: Oh, bless you.
- 48:40Speaker 2: She thought, well, if I say I'm a lawyer– they're
- 48:43Speaker 2: going to be like, get rid of her. She's too analytical.
- 48:45Speaker 3: But then you send your basketball coach, then they're going
- 48:48Speaker 3: to go, she's going to convince everybody to follow her direction,
- 48:53Speaker 3: like get rid of this person.
- 48:54Speaker 2: So it actually did her in in the end.
- 48:57Speaker 1: I found that, so my friend Emily was watching with me.
- 49:00Speaker 1: She's never watched one episode of Traders ever. So I
- 49:03Speaker 1: was like, well, I need to watch this for my
- 49:05Speaker 1: show and I think you'll like it. I'm not going
- 49:06Speaker 1: to force her to watch Love After Lockup. I'm going
- 49:09Speaker 1: to make her watch something good. And we watched the
- 49:12Speaker 1: two episodes. She's like, oh my gosh, when does the
- 49:13Speaker 1: next one come out? She's so into it. And I
- 49:15Speaker 1: was trying to explain to her that a lot of
- 49:17Speaker 1: times it's celebrities because she does know survivor people. and
- 49:20Speaker 1: stuff and so i was like you will like that
- 49:22Speaker 1: one too but i think this is probably a good
- 49:25Speaker 1: entry because everybody's on equal field where we don't know
- 49:28Speaker 1: anybody so when we first start to watch it and
- 49:31Speaker 1: the girl underneath her chiron says lawyer and she says
- 49:33Speaker 1: i'm a basketball coach emily goes oh that's what they
- 49:36Speaker 1: do they lie i go no I have never seen
- 49:39Speaker 1: one person do that ever.
- 49:41Speaker 2: That is weird.
- 49:42Speaker 1: I go, I wonder why she did that. And I go,
- 49:44Speaker 1: maybe they got her Chiron wrong. But I can't imagine Peacock.
- 49:48Speaker 1: Like I myself was trying to figure out. I didn't
- 49:51Speaker 1: understand that at all. I can't wait to find out
- 49:56Speaker 1: for her to come and do interviews and stuff and
- 49:57Speaker 1: explain it. Maybe she'll come on your show and explain it.
- 50:00Speaker 3: She was going to come on my show and then
- 50:02Speaker 3: it didn't work out on Friday. That's okay.
- 50:05Speaker 1: What was the strategy?
- 50:07Speaker 2: That's what I need to know.
- 50:08Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 50:09Speaker 1: Well, I'm sorry about that Madeline girl because I found
- 50:12Speaker 1: her to be like supermodel gorgeous and to be a
- 50:14Speaker 1: construction manager. I was like, she's interesting.
- 50:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 50:17Speaker 3: She said she's loving being on the show and getting interviewed.
- 50:23Speaker 2: Yeah. She said it's so fun because her job is
- 50:26Speaker 2: just so different.
- 50:27Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 50:28Speaker 2: Okay, good.
- 50:29Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 50:29Speaker 2: All right.
- 50:30Speaker 1: And a story that I– I mean, a show that
- 50:33Speaker 1: I saw being advertised and then, of course, you were
- 50:35Speaker 1: talking about it, a killer story. On HBO Max.
- 50:40Speaker 3: Yes.
- 50:41Speaker 2: Okay.
- 50:41Speaker 1: Who did you interview from that?
- 50:43Speaker 2: The producer and the director. Okay.
- 50:46Speaker 1: So you didn't, I have not listened to it, but
- 50:48Speaker 1: you didn't interview Joe, the New York Times.
- 50:51Speaker 2: No, he had been out of town. So I just
- 50:53Speaker 2: got the director and the producer. Is his name Joe?
- 50:55Speaker 2: Did I get that right? Joe Sexton.
- 50:56Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah.
- 50:57Speaker 2: Okay.
- 50:57Speaker 1: First of all, so I made Emily watch that as well.
- 51:00Speaker 1: She's here. I was like, we're watching TV. Like you
- 51:02Speaker 1: have no choice.
- 51:03Speaker 2: You're with me.
- 51:04Speaker 1: So I was like, I want to watch this literally
- 51:05Speaker 1: just for fun because I think that when I, I
- 51:09Speaker 1: don't have to take notes, you know?
- 51:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 51:11Speaker 1: So she was like, oh, okay. She's like, you know,
- 51:13Speaker 1: I love Dateline.
- 51:13Speaker 2: I was like, okay, then you'll love this.
- 51:15Speaker 1: You'll love this. So this is right up Kate's.
- 51:17Speaker 2: Alley, guys, by the way.
- 51:18Speaker 1: She loves to find things for people to watch. That's
- 51:22Speaker 1: her jam. So you're like peeing your pants that I
- 51:24Speaker 1: have somebody here that doesn't watch a lot of television.
- 51:26Speaker 2: I love it. Yeah.
- 51:28Speaker 1: And so far, I'm like two out of two. I've
- 51:29Speaker 1: hit it out of the park. Three out of three
- 51:31Speaker 1: because I've made her watch some Housewives stuff. So this
- 51:34Speaker 1: killer story, it's on HBO Max. And I'd heard this
- 51:37Speaker 1: story before.
- 51:38Speaker 2: Because it was in an episode of 48 Hours.
- 51:41Speaker 1: That's where you saw it. Or I've heard it on
- 51:43Speaker 1: a podcast. Dana Chandler. Dana Chandler. I've heard that name before.
- 51:48Speaker 1: And I've seen her picture a million times. Because depending
- 51:50Speaker 1: on how they shoot it, she looks like the sweetest
- 51:53Speaker 1: little lady in the world. Or she looks like she
- 51:55Speaker 1: would fucking cut your throat.
- 51:57Speaker 2: Totally.
- 51:57Speaker 3: Yeah. Well, then somebody wrote, like a relative wrote on
- 52:03Speaker 3: my post. Oh. And she said, because I put it
- 52:07Speaker 3: in like an Instagram carousel about it, and they said
- 52:10Speaker 3: things that were not in the doc, which I was like, well,
- 52:14Speaker 3: I'd love to have known that, that Dana was so
- 52:17Speaker 3: obsessed with her ex. She would like stalk him, call him,
- 52:22Speaker 3: and try to rope in other people to like get
- 52:25Speaker 3: info on him. And something about like putting a cigarette
- 52:28Speaker 3: out on like somebody, like she was like she was unstable,
- 52:32Speaker 3: like totally obsessed. So I think maybe she like hired
- 52:35Speaker 3: someone to kill them.
- 52:37Speaker 1: Well, she was, you know, an alcoholic and got sober,
- 52:42Speaker 1: but she lost full custody of her kids and got
- 52:44Speaker 1: sober and went back to college. And so that part
- 52:46Speaker 1: of the story is very compelling to me. But then
- 52:51Speaker 1: on the second episode, when they're showing the two different
- 52:54Speaker 1: stories that she told about her alibi and they draw
- 52:58Speaker 1: it out, like the short route and then the big, route.
- 53:03Speaker 1: And it's good for people that aren't from Colorado to understand,
- 53:06Speaker 1: to show it on the screen of like, oh, okay.
- 53:08Speaker 1: So one is like a three-hour day and the other
- 53:10Speaker 1: was like a 12-hour day. So which one did she do?
- 53:14Speaker 1: So I haven't watched the third episode, obviously. It's not
- 53:16Speaker 1: out yet. It'll come out Thursday night.
- 53:19Speaker 2: So I don't know.
- 53:19Speaker 1: And because if I have heard the story, because I've
- 53:21Speaker 1: heard so many stories, I've forgotten what actually happens.
- 53:24Speaker 2: Well, that's so fun too when you forget and then
- 53:26Speaker 2: you're like, oh, okay, good.
- 53:27Speaker 1: So we have to watch it Thursday night as well.
- 53:29Speaker 1: But I What I find so interesting is the couple
- 53:32Speaker 1: that he calls pen pal and trash man.
- 53:35Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 53:35Speaker 1: The whole time, every time he goes, and then pen
- 53:37Speaker 1: pal said, dah, dah, dah, dah. And then I told
- 53:39Speaker 1: trash man, and we were just laughing so hard at
- 53:43Speaker 1: Joe Sexton, his character as a New York times, just,
- 53:47Speaker 1: and he always has the fake cigarette in his mouth.
- 53:49Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 53:50Speaker 1: And Emily goes, is that going to be explained?
- 53:52Speaker 3: I go interview because we talk about so much of
- 53:55Speaker 3: that stuff. And then we talk about the opening shot
- 53:58Speaker 3: where he's driving down, the road and the truck, I said,
- 54:01Speaker 3: you guys need an Emmy just for that shot.
- 54:03Speaker 2: And then they were telling me.
- 54:05Speaker 3: Who was responsible for it. Like it's the making of it.
- 54:08Speaker 3: I go into a.
- 54:09Speaker 2: Lot of that stuff.
- 54:10Speaker 1: Okay, good. That was maybe last week. I think your episode.
- 54:13Speaker 2: Was last week.
- 54:13Speaker 3: And then I would love for you to listen to
- 54:15Speaker 3: my last Saturday series episode. Cause I had the guy,
- 54:18Speaker 3: Michael Swerdlick, who wrote the movie can't buy me love.
- 54:21Speaker 2: Okay.
- 54:23Speaker 3: And he has all these like really fun details about
- 54:25Speaker 3: the movie.
- 54:27Speaker 1: See, that's more of your generation because you're like my
- 54:29Speaker 1: two co-hosts. You're maybe a little 10 years or so
- 54:32Speaker 1: younger than me. I was like more in college when
- 54:35Speaker 1: that movie came out.
- 54:36Speaker 2: I think.
- 54:36Speaker 1: Whereas like your generation, it was like that was like
- 54:39Speaker 1: your high school movie, you know?
- 54:41Speaker 3: I think it was younger than that, but I feel
- 54:43Speaker 3: like it is just like one of the best rom-com
- 54:48Speaker 3: movies in the history of time.
- 54:50Speaker 2: Okay.
- 54:50Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 54:50Speaker 1: I mean, listen, believe me, I know the premise of it.
- 54:52Speaker 1: I saw it when it came out, but I haven't
- 54:54Speaker 1: like seen it a hundred times. My generation watches over
- 54:57Speaker 1: and over like 16 Candles.
- 54:59Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 54:59Speaker 2: Do you remember Rico Suave?
- 55:04Speaker 1: Of course.
- 55:05Speaker 2: Okay.
- 55:05Speaker 3: So Gerardo's in that movie and Michael was telling me
- 55:08Speaker 3: about how he was cast for the show because they
- 55:10Speaker 3: needed somebody who– they wanted to get like locals.
- 55:14Speaker 2: It was filmed in Tucson.
- 55:16Speaker 3: And then a year after the movie's made, he comes
- 55:18Speaker 3: to him and he's like, I have this persona, Rico Suave.
- 55:21Speaker 3: And he comes to his house with like cardboard to
- 55:22Speaker 3: do a backspin and like play the music with the bandana.
- 55:25Speaker 3: And he was like, I want you to rep me.
- 55:27Speaker 3: And Michael was like, I don't really rep like singers.
- 55:30Speaker 3: But then he went on and it became like the
- 55:31Speaker 3: number one song in America.
- 55:33Speaker 2: Yeah. Gerardo wrote me. I'm going to interview him.
- 55:37Speaker 1: No way, Kate.
- 55:38Speaker 2: Rico Suave.
- 55:40Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 55:40Speaker 2: He's coming on my show.
- 55:42Speaker 1: Let me tell you this about Rico Suave. On TLC,
- 55:44Speaker 1: there's a couple, Ashley and Manuel, and they recently, you know,
- 55:48Speaker 1: posted they're getting divorced. So in our minds, they're like,
- 55:51Speaker 1: they're not getting divorced. They just want to go on
- 55:53Speaker 1: last resort. Um, Or happily ever after. Whenever the TLC
- 55:57Speaker 1: couples post something, we're like, oh, they're trying to get
- 55:59Speaker 1: on one of these spinoffs. That's for divorced people or whatever,
- 56:03Speaker 1: single people, whatever. Anyway, her dog's name is Rico Suave.
- 56:08Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 56:09Speaker 1: Yeah. Every time she'd be like, and I was like,
- 56:11Speaker 1: Rico Suave sleeps in the bed with us. And my
- 56:15Speaker 1: husband came from wherever, South American country, and he does
- 56:19Speaker 1: not believe the dog should be in the house. But
- 56:21Speaker 1: I said, Rico Suave is my first love. And she
- 56:23Speaker 1: constantly calls him like his full government name, Rico Suave.
- 56:26Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 56:26Speaker 1: And it's funny every time she says it because I'm like, oh,
- 56:32Speaker 1: Rico Suave. Every time she says it, it comes to
- 56:35Speaker 1: my mind. The video and the abs.
- 56:37Speaker 3: Oh, yeah. Yeah.
- 56:39Speaker 1: Cute okay is he still cute i'm sure.
- 56:41Speaker 3: Gorgeous gorgeous and has like really cute kids and they
- 56:46Speaker 3: are in on the joke and make videos about.
- 56:48Speaker 1: Him and are you gonna have him on your saturday
- 56:50Speaker 1: series yes that's great kate is that great that is
- 56:54Speaker 1: great now you guys if you don't know because you
- 56:56Speaker 1: live under a rock kate um has a podcast where
- 56:59Speaker 1: she interviews documentary filmmakers and people like um gerardo Or
- 57:03Speaker 1: people like me. I was on the Saturday series. But she,
- 57:07Speaker 1: it's whatever you see on your TV, you're like, oh
- 57:09Speaker 1: my God, this looks fascinating. Like the Nathan Fielder thing
- 57:12Speaker 1: coming up with Elizabeth Holmes.
- 57:14Speaker 4: Yes.
- 57:15Speaker 1: Kate's going to be all over that. All over it.
- 57:18Speaker 2: All over it.
- 57:19Speaker 1: So anything like that you're interested in. But Kate also
- 57:21Speaker 1: has a Substack newsletter that comes to your mailbox. She
- 57:24Speaker 1: also does a podcast about it. And it's posted on
- 57:26Speaker 1: her Instagram, What to Watch. This is the, the list,
- 57:31Speaker 1: the list.
- 57:31Speaker 3: I love.
- 57:32Speaker 1: Consult it. And not only do I consult it, but
- 57:35Speaker 1: I will then text Kate something like, my friend Emily
- 57:38Speaker 1: is here.
- 57:38Speaker 2: What should we watch?
- 57:39Speaker 1: And Kate will be like, okay, tell me what she likes.
- 57:41Speaker 2: I'm like, okay.
- 57:42Speaker 1: She likes Dateline. She likes this. And then Kate will.
- 57:46Speaker 2: Tell us what to watch.
- 57:48Speaker 1: It's a gift.
- 57:49Speaker 2: Is she leaving? When is she leaving?
- 57:51Speaker 1: So we're leaving on Friday. But Thursday night, we already
- 57:54Speaker 1: know what to watch, but we don't have anything for tonight.
- 57:56Speaker 2: What are you watching Thursday?
- 57:58Speaker 1: We're going to watch Traitors and A Killer Story.
- 58:02Speaker 2: Okay, good.
- 58:04Speaker 1: What can they watch tonight?
- 58:05Speaker 2: Oh, and then did you tell her about the Swans documentary?
- 58:09Speaker 1: I've not told her about the Swan. Chris DeRosa is
- 58:12Speaker 1: going to come on with me to talk about the Swan.
- 58:15Speaker 1: Did you watch it yet?
- 58:16Speaker 3: Yes.
- 58:16Speaker 1: On the screener?
- 58:17Speaker 2: Okay.
- 58:18Speaker 1: Did you agree with my assessment?
- 58:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 58:22Speaker 3: But here's my feeling because I interviewed the filmmaker and
- 58:25Speaker 3: then two of the women. In the end, I was like,
- 58:30Speaker 3: they went through this. shitty experience, but it's like a
- 58:33Speaker 3: love story to the women that like, they totally bonded
- 58:35Speaker 3: and they're like great buddies now.
- 58:37Speaker 1: Oh, that part of the story.
- 58:39Speaker 2: I like that.
- 58:39Speaker 1: I would like the whole thing to be about the
- 58:42Speaker 1: women that went through this experience. Um, I thought it
- 58:46Speaker 1: was interesting telling about, and I won't ruin it cause
- 58:48Speaker 1: people are going to watch it. The swan, um, the swans.
- 58:52Speaker 1: I think that the experience of literally not being able
- 58:56Speaker 1: to look in a mirror for three months.
- 58:58Speaker 2: Oh, we did talk about that.
- 58:59Speaker 1: It's really got to fuck with your brain.
- 59:01Speaker 3: Yeah, the psychological damage and then what the doctors did
- 59:05Speaker 3: to them.
- 59:06Speaker 2: Yeah, I go into the whole thing about it.
- 59:07Speaker 1: How did I forget Dr. Dubrow was on that show?
- 59:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 59:10Speaker 3: And then I ask Aaron, the director in it, why
- 59:14Speaker 3: didn't he participate? Is it true that he asked for
- 59:16Speaker 3: all this money? And she's like, it is. I go, well,
- 59:19Speaker 3: how much?
- 59:20Speaker 2: She wouldn't tell me, but she was like, it was
- 59:22Speaker 2: like an astronomical amount of money.
- 59:24Speaker 3: He must be embarrassed. He's like, I don't want to
- 59:26Speaker 3: talk about it unless you pay me.
- 59:27Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 59:28Speaker 1: So you talked to Aaron Lee Carr.
- 59:30Speaker 3: Aaron Lee Carr and Christy and Carrie.
- 59:34Speaker 1: Aaron Lee Carr, I'm so fascinated with because I loved
- 59:37Speaker 1: her dad, David Carr, The Night of the Gun. I mean,
- 59:41Speaker 1: one of the greatest books of all time. Go read
- 59:43Speaker 1: that book, guys. It's about her dad and his addiction.
- 59:46Speaker 1: And he was a huge, famous writer. And then she
- 59:49Speaker 1: sort of followed in his footsteps. She's a very well-known
- 59:51Speaker 1: documentary filmmaker.
- 59:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 59:54Speaker 1: And then when I saw she was doing it.
- 59:55Speaker 2: I was like– She told me, too.
- 59:56Speaker 3: She has a bunch of sisters and went to an
- 59:58Speaker 3: all-women's school. I was like, hey, girl.
- 1:00:00Speaker 2: I was like, we're peeps. Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: That's amazing. Yeah, that's another thing I'm going to be covering.
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: And you interviewed her and two of the cast.
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: Members, contestants. Two of the contestants.
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: Two of the swans.
- 1:00:13Speaker 2: Uh-huh. Two of the swans.
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: Two of the swans.
- 1:00:14Speaker 3: And they were so embarrassed their whole life. And I
- 1:00:17Speaker 3: do like that because of this, I was like, look
- 1:00:19Speaker 3: at you. You guys are so powerful.
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:00:23Speaker 3: Ah.
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: Kate, you're so good. So everybody make sure you're following
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: Kate and tell everybody where they can find your Substack
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: and all the things.
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:00:31Speaker 3: So you got to sign up at katecasey.substack.com and then
- 1:00:36Speaker 3: make sure that you check out, I have bonus podcasts,
- 1:00:39Speaker 3: which are great too, on Apple Podcasts and Patreon.
- 1:00:42Speaker 2: And follow me on social.
- 1:00:45Speaker 3: Media because I always put up carousels of the topics.
- 1:00:49Speaker 3: I'll do one tonight about the swans. So you would
- 1:00:52Speaker 3: know what's coming up and what you should listen to.
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: Yeah, your carousels lately have really been killing it, girl.
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: I know. It's really exciting.
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: It's really good. I tell you, being friends with Kate,
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: you guys, it's like being friends with the mayor of Podcastville.
- 1:01:07Speaker 2: That's so kind. Thank you. You're so welcome.
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: Kate and I did a limited series last year, I think.
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: Oh, we got to bring it back.
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: We got to bring it back. It was called Tell
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: Me Everything with Kate and Mary Payne.
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: We got to bring it back.
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: And we told each other stories, and they were really good,
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: and they were either personal stories or stories that we
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: hadn't heard. I am suggesting for our next round, which
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: I really want to do like December. We've got to
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: get through all these shows in November, and plus I'm
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: going to Italy, so I've got to think about it
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: after that. I wanted to tell me everything about a cult,
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: and we find a cult that the other one doesn't
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: know about, and we tell each other about the cult.
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. I think I'm going to cover one soon.
- 1:01:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: Because you probably have six in your brain.
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 1:01:49Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: Because I got a cult the other day. And even
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: if we do know about it, one of us may
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: know more and could tell the other one.
- 1:01:55Speaker 3: It's just fun to just go over what their crazy
- 1:01:58Speaker 3: mission statement is, et cetera, et cetera. Yeah.
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: I mean, you think Scientology, but take it way down
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: to a cult that only has like six followers.
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: Yeah. Love it. Love it.
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: Like Teal Swan.
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: Come on. Not to be confused with the Swans. So
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: we're going to probably bring that back, guys. But if
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: you want to hear it, it is on Case Patreon.
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: It's on my Patreon as well. So everybody, make sure
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: you're following us on social media. Kate Casey is KateCaseyCA.
- 1:02:24Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: And I am PinkShadePod. And I will see you guys.
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: If you're on PinkShadePod, I'll see you tomorrow with my
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: last resort recap. And I hope everybody listens to my
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: interview with Ross Matthews that I put out on Monday.
- 1:02:37Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: He's such a delight.
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:02:39Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: Bye, Kate.
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: Thank you.
