- 0:00Speaker 1: Actual News Radio 570 WDKVN, welcome, welcome, welcome. 4.06 on
- 0:04Speaker 1: a Monday afternoon, May 18th already. We're at 90 degrees
- 0:07Speaker 1: here in Tiffany Boulevard. Ian Boardman, Ron Ferb, News Radio
- 0:11Speaker 1: 570 WDKVN, welcome. You're on the air. Hello there.
- 0:15Speaker 2: Okay, Ron, I'm going to ask you a question, and
- 0:17Speaker 2: I just want you to give me a dollar amount.
- 0:19Speaker 2: At what price per gallon of gas would it have
- 0:22Speaker 2: to be for you to vote for Sherrod Brown?
- 0:28Speaker 1: There isn't a price. There is absolutely. I can answer
- 0:33Speaker 1: that question. There isn't a price that I could ever
- 0:36Speaker 1: vote for. Sherrod Brown backed everything Joe Biden stood for.
- 0:41Speaker 1: He is a far left liberal wacko. I could never
- 0:44Speaker 1: vote for Sherrod Brown. And frankly, I couldn't vote for
- 0:48Speaker 1: a Democrat running for president or any of that. I
- 0:53Speaker 1: just could not. Not one bit.
- 0:56Speaker 2: And if you ask the same question to J.J. or Emanuel,
- 1:00Speaker 2: at what price of gas would... How low would it
- 1:02Speaker 2: have to go where you'd say, yep, I'm going to
- 1:04Speaker 2: vote for Vivek Ramaswamy, I'm going to vote for Donald Trump, whoever.
- 1:09Speaker 2: They would tell you... The same thing, if you got
- 1:11Speaker 2: paid to take the gas, they wouldn't vote for the guy.
- 1:13Speaker 1: Yeah, but that's different, because if you're saying, well, how
- 1:18Speaker 1: low would it have to be for you to realize
- 1:21Speaker 1: that this person has got the right energy policy? For example,
- 1:25Speaker 1: if you would ask the question to me... If a
- 1:28Speaker 1: Democrat administration was running the show and we had low
- 1:33Speaker 1: energy costs because they had a good energy policy or
- 1:37Speaker 1: we had a booming economy because of a good economic policy,
- 1:41Speaker 1: could I vote for the Democrats? The answer to that
- 1:44Speaker 1: would be yes. But the scenario I gave you is
- 1:47Speaker 1: impossible based on their outlook.
- 1:51Speaker 2: What I'm trying to paint the picture, does the price
- 1:54Speaker 2: of gas, really matter to the administration, the CIA, the military, anybody.
- 2:01Speaker 2: Because you just made my point. You're never going to
- 2:03Speaker 2: vote for somebody based on the price of gas, even
- 2:06Speaker 2: if it gets so high and it hurts so much.
- 2:10Speaker 2: And I think that they understand that as well. The
- 2:12Speaker 2: more that this goes on, the more I'm beginning to
- 2:16Speaker 2: feel as though this was never about the nuclear weapons,
- 2:20Speaker 2: anything like that. Because again, I've never to this point understood,
- 2:24Speaker 2: and I've never talked to a nuclear physicist, but how
- 2:26Speaker 2: you make a bomb out of nuclear dust that's apparently
- 2:30Speaker 2: at the bottom of a mountain right now. I don't
- 2:33Speaker 2: understand that. I don't understand why ships can't go through.
- 2:36Speaker 2: It's not because, you know, anybody's really afraid of what's
- 2:39Speaker 2: going on. It's because there's no insurance that you can't
- 2:42Speaker 2: go through. Of course, we have a blockade. The more
- 2:44Speaker 2: this goes on, I just think this is finally... It's almost...
- 2:47Speaker 2: I'm almost happy about it from a sense that maybe
- 2:49Speaker 2: our country actually has a long-term plan involved and we're
- 2:53Speaker 2: not making military decisions just based on a mid-term cycle
- 2:57Speaker 2: or if the price of gas is $ 4. 89 a gallon.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Maybe this is just a long game with China to show, hey,
- 3:03Speaker 2: we control the choke points around the world. We control
- 3:07Speaker 2: the Panama Canal. We've got the Strait of Hormuz, the
- 3:10Speaker 2: Strait of Malacca, the ring around China. I don't know
- 3:14Speaker 2: what the end game is for it, but I don't
- 3:16Speaker 2: know if that's the plan. Is it to destroy the
- 3:19Speaker 2: economy of everywhere around the world, just like the economies
- 3:22Speaker 2: were destroyed after World War II, so we can actually
- 3:25Speaker 2: reinvigorate our industrial base because we have none? I have
- 3:29Speaker 2: no idea. But at the end of the day, if
- 3:32Speaker 2: this keeps going the way it is, And even if
- 3:35Speaker 2: we bomb them, if the straits closed, we're pumping out oil.
- 3:38Speaker 2: And I understand it doesn't help the other guy who's
- 3:41Speaker 2: calling in paying $ 4. 89 a gallon who's got to drive
- 3:43Speaker 2: his diesel truck or the delivery. I get that. But
- 3:47Speaker 2: if you're the administration, if you realize now with congressional
- 3:52Speaker 2: districts being redrawn, if you're not too worried about the midterms,
- 3:56Speaker 2: do you have to do anything right now?
- 4:00Speaker 1: If you're the administration and you're not worried about the midterms,
- 4:04Speaker 1: was your question, do you have to do anything right now?
- 4:07Speaker 2: Yes.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Yes, you do. Because there's independent voters that they often
- 4:12Speaker 1: say determine the outcome of an election. And though you
- 4:16Speaker 1: asked me those questions and I answered from my perspective,
- 4:19Speaker 1: I think there are people that would answer from a
- 4:22Speaker 1: much different perspective. I think that there are those people,
- 4:25Speaker 1: as Carville said with Clinton, it is the economy. And
- 4:28Speaker 1: in general, I think you had many Democrats and independents
- 4:33Speaker 1: that did vote for Trump in the last election because
- 4:35Speaker 1: of the economy and the high prices and affordability. And
- 4:39Speaker 1: do I think that those people could change their votes
- 4:44Speaker 1: as a vote against the current administration for not voting?
- 4:47Speaker 1: fixing the problem or making the problem worse yeah i
- 4:50Speaker 1: do think that there's a percentage of people that can
- 4:52Speaker 1: do that and that can affect the outcome of the
- 4:55Speaker 1: midterms or an election how's that for an answer yeah.
- 5:00Speaker 2: What do you mean i'll take it i guess now
- 5:02Speaker 2: here's the other thing i'm worried about now too.
- 5:04Speaker 1: What yeah you hear that folks you know like he
- 5:07Speaker 1: just blew it off but you know.
- 5:08Speaker 2: That's true speech that was my that was my opinion
- 5:11Speaker 2: on it i don't i mean that.
- 5:12Speaker 1: But you know it's true instead.
- 5:15Speaker 2: Of yeah It's, you know, yeah, sure. But, like, you
- 5:18Speaker 2: just made my point when I called. Again, when you
- 5:21Speaker 2: take a massive group of people, yeah, I'm sure that
- 5:24Speaker 2: would be, you know, their answer. But if you talk
- 5:26Speaker 2: to an individual person, it varies. Now, what I'm worried
- 5:29Speaker 2: about now is, remember when we were paying the, what
- 5:33Speaker 2: is it, the... retirement accounts of Ukrainians, their pensions, all that.
- 5:39Speaker 1: Well, I'm starting to get a little worried.
- 5:42Speaker 2: You know, there's other countries around there. You know, we
- 5:44Speaker 2: don't hear too much about the Middle East around, you know,
- 5:47Speaker 2: the Strait of Hormuz there. Kuwait hasn't pumped out any
- 5:50Speaker 2: oil since before April. Their economy is like 98% oil.
- 5:55Speaker 2: And they apparently hold a lot of treasuries, a lot
- 5:58Speaker 2: of our debt, and they have no money. So they
- 6:01Speaker 2: start selling off all their treasuries. What's that going to
- 6:04Speaker 2: do to rates? That's going to move them up. So
- 6:07Speaker 2: there's a discussion out there if we should extend currency
- 6:11Speaker 2: swaps to these other countries, like the UAE and Kuwait.
- 6:15Speaker 2: And guess what's going to happen if we send them currency? Well,
- 6:18Speaker 2: are they going to pay it back? Because we have
- 6:20Speaker 2: a history at the Fed of other countries doing currency swaps,
- 6:24Speaker 2: and we do just like Joe Biden did with the
- 6:28Speaker 2: non-forgivable loans. I don't know how you have a loan
- 6:30Speaker 2: if you never have to pay it back. That's not
- 6:32Speaker 2: a loan anymore. But that's what we do with other countries.
- 6:34Speaker 2: We give them currencies to prop up their treasuries so
- 6:37Speaker 2: they don't sell them on the open market and send
- 6:40Speaker 2: our interest rates through the roof. So we're going to
- 6:42Speaker 2: be probably sending money to Kuwait, the UAE, all these places,
- 6:47Speaker 2: just so they don't sell off all their treasuries and
- 6:50Speaker 2: then cause a panic and shoot up interest rates even higher.
- 6:53Speaker 2: Because the last few days, those have gone through the roof.
- 6:57Speaker 2: It's not even just our country. Japan's are going through
- 6:59Speaker 2: the roof. That's not a good thing. And could you
- 7:03Speaker 2: imagine if one year we actually had a down year
- 7:05Speaker 2: in the stock market and the Treasury didn't take in
- 7:08Speaker 2: tons of tax revenue from everybody paying the taxes on
- 7:12Speaker 2: all their gains from the stock market? Like 10% of
- 7:15Speaker 2: the revenue is from taxable gains on your investments. There's
- 7:21Speaker 2: so many fragile things out there right now that just
- 7:24Speaker 2: one of these things goes wrong. I don't know where
- 7:26Speaker 2: it's going to go, and it could be a real
- 7:28Speaker 2: slippery slope. And I think I know who would be
- 7:30Speaker 2: the best person to talk about that. Did you hear
- 7:32Speaker 2: back from Dane Davis?
- 7:34Speaker 1: Yes, I did. And, boy, you're on your game anymore.
- 7:40Speaker 1: You are really keeping me on the edge of my seat.
- 7:43Speaker 2: Well, I've got to keep you in the know.
- 7:45Speaker 1: You've got to keep me focused. Let me see. Did
- 7:48Speaker 1: I hear back? Yeah, let's see. Can you come on
- 7:52Speaker 1: a show next week? I text him. He says, let
- 7:56Speaker 1: me check. I should be open Friday.
- 8:00Speaker 3: Okay.
- 8:01Speaker 1: Is what he said. The key word should be open.
- 8:04Speaker 1: So he's busy. So hopefully I will. So he's planning
- 8:08Speaker 1: shooting for Friday. But Dane Davis, those of you haven't
- 8:12Speaker 1: heard him. is probably one of the, I think, just brilliant.
- 8:16Speaker 1: He explains the economy. He's been right. Every time I've
- 8:20Speaker 1: had him on, always talking about the economy, he's got 100%
- 8:24Speaker 1: accuracy rate with me on everything.
- 8:28Speaker 4: 100%.
- 8:28Speaker 1: Imagine that. When they would be saying it's transitory, and
- 8:31Speaker 1: he said, no, it's not. Or when they'd be talking
- 8:33Speaker 1: about tariffs, and he said, no, that's not going to happen.
- 8:36Speaker 1: He's been right on everything. So I'll be curious his
- 8:39Speaker 1: take on what's going on.
- 8:41Speaker 2: I can tell just from that response that the economy
- 8:44Speaker 2: is not doing well. Because if everything were fine, he
- 8:46Speaker 2: would have got right back to you and said, yeah,
- 8:48Speaker 2: I'm available at any time. But he must be busy
- 8:50Speaker 2: because he's trying to figure out what's going on.
- 8:54Speaker 1: Well, you brought up a bunch of points. And I'm
- 8:57Speaker 1: not Dane Davis, but I would say to you, am
- 9:00Speaker 1: I supposed to ignore the trillions of dollars in debt
- 9:03Speaker 1: that we are now and how fast the debt is growing?
- 9:06Speaker 1: as though that isn't something to be concerned about. For example,
- 9:11Speaker 1: that debt, how fast it's growing, and how much of
- 9:14Speaker 1: our yearly income from taxes goes to simply pay the
- 9:17Speaker 1: interest on that. Should I be ignoring that as though
- 9:20Speaker 1: that's not a factor? Should I say at some point
- 9:24Speaker 1: the crap isn't going to hit the fan? It's our
- 9:26Speaker 1: second biggest expense is just paying the interest on our
- 9:29Speaker 1: debt and the deficit as it continues to grow. Our
- 9:32Speaker 1: second biggest expense.
- 9:34Speaker 2: We're going to hit $ 40 trillion. probably by the end
- 9:37Speaker 2: of the year. And that's an inconceivable number to most people.
- 9:41Speaker 2: And that's the thing. Does it even mean anything anymore?
- 9:44Speaker 2: What's the difference realistically if you're $ 30 trillion, $ 40 trillion,
- 9:47Speaker 2: $ 50 trillion? That's like drowning under three miles of water,
- 9:50Speaker 2: two miles of water, one mile of water. It's still
- 9:53Speaker 2: just as bad any way you get it. We can't
- 9:55Speaker 2: pay it off. The only thing we could do is
- 9:57Speaker 2: hopefully kick the can further and further down the road.
- 10:01Speaker 1: Yeah, but at what point does the crap hit the wall?
- 10:05Speaker 1: I mean, you keep kicking it further down the road,
- 10:09Speaker 1: but it keeps growing at a number that's larger than
- 10:12Speaker 1: numbers have been in the past. It's growing.
- 10:15Speaker 3: Go ahead.
- 10:17Speaker 2: You would have a problem if your debt kept growing
- 10:21Speaker 2: and growing. We don't have a problem from our Federal
- 10:24Speaker 2: Reserve and our country because when we have more debt,
- 10:26Speaker 2: we just print more money. So it's not going to
- 10:28Speaker 2: matter to the country as a whole. What it's going
- 10:30Speaker 2: to do is completely bifurcate and continue to divide our
- 10:33Speaker 2: population with the haves and the have-nots. Just like I said,
- 10:37Speaker 2: the inflation is going to go through the roof and
- 10:39Speaker 2: it's going to continuously get worse and worse. So you're
- 10:41Speaker 2: going to have a lot of people that are going
- 10:42Speaker 2: to get very wealthy from inflation who own assets. And
- 10:45Speaker 2: you're going to see a lot of people who are
- 10:47Speaker 2: going to do even worse because they are getting drowned
- 10:50Speaker 2: by the inflation because they live paycheck to paycheck and
- 10:53Speaker 2: they don't have assets. So the middle class is going
- 10:55Speaker 2: to get completely wiped out.
- 10:57Speaker 1: But as I've said a million times, as I would
- 10:59Speaker 1: say to all of you again, revolutions are fought on
- 11:02Speaker 1: hungry bellies. And the last thing you need.
- 11:04Speaker 2: We won't have hungry bellies because we can print money
- 11:08Speaker 2: to subsidize all this. Look what's going on Medicaid in Ohio.
- 11:11Speaker 2: Do you think they're talking about 500,000 people might be
- 11:14Speaker 2: cut from Medicaid in Ohio over the next 10 years?
- 11:16Speaker 2: There's probably just like Dave Thomas said, there's probably 500,000
- 11:20Speaker 2: people that have no business being on it. So how
- 11:22Speaker 2: do you fight a revolution on hungry bellies if nobody
- 11:25Speaker 2: actually gets a hungry belly because we keep sending paychecks
- 11:28Speaker 2: to them? It's those people that are supposed to be
- 11:31Speaker 2: the ones fighting it, but we're never going to have that.
- 11:33Speaker 2: There's a good YouTube video on right now. It's the
- 11:36Speaker 2: history of Youngstown. And it just goes back through how
- 11:39Speaker 2: we developed steel, iron, everything, and how we became an
- 11:43Speaker 2: unbelievable city in the 20s and 30s. Just phenomenal. It
- 11:47Speaker 2: was because people came here from all over the world
- 11:49Speaker 2: and all over the country, and they were sweating all day,
- 11:53Speaker 2: all night, all shifts, because they worked. They were pouring steel.
- 11:57Speaker 2: It was a horrible place. It was a horrible job.
- 11:59Speaker 2: It But what other choice did you have? You either
- 12:02Speaker 2: went to work and made money or you were hungry.
- 12:04Speaker 2: There weren't all these social welfare systems where you could
- 12:07Speaker 2: just sit on your arses, you say, and collect it.
- 12:10Speaker 2: So what happened? Well, they went to work because there
- 12:13Speaker 2: was no other option. We don't have that anymore. We
- 12:15Speaker 2: have no austerity. No politician is going to come out
- 12:18Speaker 2: and say, I'm going to cut all this aid. I'm
- 12:21Speaker 2: going to cut all the welfare system. I'm going to
- 12:22Speaker 2: cut all the Medicaid. Go find a job or go hungry.
- 12:26Speaker 1: Well, guess what?
- 12:26Speaker 2: That would make January 6th probably look like a tea party.
- 12:31Speaker 1: Yeah, but when you take a look at it, look
- 12:33Speaker 1: at the bellyaching that took place when they just didn't
- 12:36Speaker 1: want to continue the Obama extensions that were put in
- 12:42Speaker 1: during COVID. Take a look at the bellyache and it
- 12:45Speaker 1: took place from the Democrats who put those extensions in
- 12:49Speaker 1: or aid in, if you will, during COVID and the
- 12:52Speaker 1: timeframe that it was not to be permanent, but temporary,
- 12:55Speaker 1: and end in five years. So then when they were sunsetting,
- 12:59Speaker 1: and COVID's a thing of the past, what did the
- 13:01Speaker 1: Democrats say? You can't let that end. People are going
- 13:04Speaker 1: to take a substantial increase in their premiums for the
- 13:07Speaker 1: Affordable Care Act. Well, so?
- 13:10Speaker 2: There's nothing more permanent than a temporary government system. So
- 13:14Speaker 2: whenever anything's temporary, it's going to last forever. Because once
- 13:18Speaker 2: you give somebody something, it becomes expected after that.
- 13:21Speaker 1: Yeah, but here's the problem with it.
- 13:22Speaker 2: You lose the vote.
- 13:23Speaker 1: When they make it temporary and they make it five
- 13:26Speaker 1: years because they figure, okay, it won't affect the current administration,
- 13:30Speaker 1: it'll be the next guy's problem. I mean, there's a
- 13:33Speaker 1: shining example of where people are. What do you mean
- 13:35Speaker 1: you're going to? These are all temporary. They were there
- 13:38Speaker 1: to assist people during COVID. All of a sudden, the
- 13:40Speaker 1: Democrats thought they should be permanent and they were constantly
- 13:43Speaker 1: running on. Oh, look at the Republicans want to cut
- 13:45Speaker 1: people's health care. No, they wanted to cut the subsidies
- 13:48Speaker 1: when you said they were temporary in the beginning. Now
- 13:51Speaker 1: you're arguing that they should be permanent. It was never
- 13:54Speaker 1: intended to be that way. And never did I hear
- 13:57Speaker 1: any of them say, what about the increased cost in
- 13:59Speaker 1: health care that individuals are paying or companies are paying?
- 14:02Speaker 1: They weren't even remotely concerned about that.
- 14:05Speaker 2: We all have the shortest attention spans, and they're getting
- 14:09Speaker 2: worse and worse. Look, Trump and the whole administration goes
- 14:11Speaker 2: over to China. Did you hear anything about, hey, by
- 14:13Speaker 2: the way, what.
- 14:14Speaker 1: Happened with COVID?
- 14:15Speaker 2: Remember when you stopped letting flights go in your country?
- 14:18Speaker 2: Remember when you sent the virus over to us? Remember
- 14:20Speaker 2: when Trump called it the China virus?
- 14:22Speaker 4: Yes.
- 14:22Speaker 3: Nothing now.
- 14:23Speaker 2: It's all under the rug. I mean, Trump got shot
- 14:26Speaker 2: in the ear, in the head. Do you hear anything?
- 14:27Speaker 4: Nope.
- 14:28Speaker 2: All under the rug. Listen to this. Whatever happened to
- 14:31Speaker 2: Iran running out.
- 14:32Speaker 5: Of oil storage?
- 14:33Speaker 2: Because about 12 days ago, I thought it was supposed
- 14:36Speaker 2: to be about now. And I haven't heard anything about that.
- 14:38Speaker 2: Where's their oil storage where they're going to have to
- 14:40Speaker 2: stop pumping their oil and they're going to completely crater
- 14:43Speaker 2: their economy? I haven't heard a thing about it.
- 14:46Speaker 1: Well, I heard where they got some of these old
- 14:48Speaker 1: ships back out, and so we're filling them with oil.
- 14:52Speaker 1: And then there was an oil slick they were saying
- 14:54Speaker 1: in the ocean the other day. Did they release some
- 14:56Speaker 1: oil to try to make more room or something along
- 15:00Speaker 1: those lines? I mean, it appears to me that there's
- 15:04Speaker 1: a problem in where they need to store it. If
- 15:07Speaker 1: you can't sell it, it's hard to shut it off, basically.
- 15:10Speaker 1: If you shut it off, I don't understand it. They
- 15:12Speaker 1: say it compromises a well and brings water into it.
- 15:16Speaker 1: So you've got to keep it running. Once it's started,
- 15:18Speaker 1: you can't stop it.
- 15:20Speaker 2: I think there was a chance that the whole military
- 15:23Speaker 2: excursion on the very first day was too successful. We
- 15:25Speaker 2: don't even know who's in charge.
- 15:27Speaker 1: There he is. People know him. They love him. They
- 15:29Speaker 1: think he's got great insight. Alec, thank you. We'll be
- 15:32Speaker 1: right back. Youngstown's News, Weather, and Talk Station, 570 WKBN.
- 15:40Speaker 1: And Ron Ferb, News Radio 570 WKBN. You're on the air.
- 15:44Speaker 4: Yes, how are you doing, Ron?
- 15:45Speaker 1: I'm well.
- 15:46Speaker 4: I enjoyed the last couple of callers. I heard a
- 15:49Speaker 4: caller a couple back that mentioned AI. And I think
- 15:54Speaker 4: that's our biggest threat to this country is not Iran
- 15:58Speaker 4: and the war. It's AI. But if you have serious money,
- 16:04Speaker 4: it's your friend. You're going to make a lot of money. AI,
- 16:09Speaker 4: there's no way you're going to stop it. So... starting
- 16:13Speaker 4: with your county commissioners all the way up to the president.
- 16:16Speaker 4: It's a done deal. AI is going to go wherever
- 16:20Speaker 4: they want to go. And, for example, take a look
- 16:23Speaker 4: at Utah. They're proposing a 40,000-acre data center in Utah,
- 16:30Speaker 4: which would consume, listen to this, 9 gigawatts of power.
- 16:34Speaker 4: You know what that is? That's more than twice Utah
- 16:38Speaker 4: State's current output.
- 16:40Speaker 1: Where are you supposed to come up with that amount
- 16:42Speaker 1: of power?
- 16:43Speaker 4: Well, here's the thing. If you watch, you know who
- 16:47Speaker 4: Kevin O'Leary is?
- 16:48Speaker 1: Yes.
- 16:49Speaker 4: One of the billionaires on Shark Tank. He was interviewed
- 16:52Speaker 4: by Tucker on AI last week. And he was saying,
- 16:58Speaker 4: there's no way we're going to stop it. Granted, we
- 17:03Speaker 4: have to come up with the power in the water,
- 17:05Speaker 4: but our technology is getting a lot better with turbines. Basically,
- 17:10Speaker 4: what you need, you need energy to create power. steam
- 17:13Speaker 4: to turn the turbines to produce the electricity. And he
- 17:17Speaker 4: said there's new technology out that the data centers are
- 17:20Speaker 4: going to use to help produce their own power and
- 17:25Speaker 4: then sell back or give back some of the power
- 17:28Speaker 4: to the surrounding communities. There's no way you think you
- 17:32Speaker 4: can stop AI by going to a county commissioner meeting.
- 17:37Speaker 4: He said it's not going to happen because AI, it's
- 17:41Speaker 4: a sealed deal. Either we get it or the Chinese
- 17:44Speaker 4: get it first. And that's why it's our biggest national
- 17:49Speaker 4: security threat, not Iran.
- 17:53Speaker 1: How are you supposed to cover the electric demand right now?
- 17:58Speaker 1: I mean, when you're talking about AI in these data centers,
- 18:01Speaker 1: we're not talking about years from now. We're talking about
- 18:04Speaker 1: the present. Where was I reading where they were saying
- 18:08Speaker 1: that What community were they saying in a year and
- 18:12Speaker 1: a half, we're not going to have any power for you?
- 18:18Speaker 4: They're going to have power for you. It's going to
- 18:21Speaker 4: be very expensive. So to all the listeners out there
- 18:24Speaker 4: who are not on an aggregate with their communities, and
- 18:28Speaker 4: I happen to be in one that doesn't have an aggregate,
- 18:31Speaker 4: what you want to do now is lock into a,
- 18:34Speaker 4: not a one-year contract, but a two-, three-year contract for
- 18:38Speaker 4: your electricity system. Even though it seems high, in a
- 18:42Speaker 4: year or two it's going to be very cheap. So
- 18:45Speaker 4: that's what people should be doing right now if their
- 18:47Speaker 4: contracts are coming up. Do not go short-term, six months,
- 18:52Speaker 4: one year. You want to go out further. And then
- 18:55Speaker 4: the other thing is, you can make a lot of
- 18:59Speaker 4: money with this AI trade. Just go with the AI
- 19:03Speaker 4: stocks and... follow what your congressmen, senators, and President Trump
- 19:09Speaker 4: are doing. If you just follow the stocks they're buying,
- 19:12Speaker 4: they're buying AI stocks. And I noticed the Trump family trust,
- 19:18Speaker 4: they just released his May purchases, and he is big
- 19:23Speaker 4: into crypto. He bought a lot of Coinbase Global and MicroStrategy,
- 19:29Speaker 4: which invest in Bitcoin. So the Trump family is in
- 19:32Speaker 4: AI stocks, Not only AI, but they're also into crypto.
- 19:38Speaker 4: And that's what you could look at. And then I
- 19:42Speaker 4: did a listening to, who was the last.
- 19:44Speaker 1: Caller, Alex? Yeah, before I get to that, but what
- 19:47Speaker 1: AI stocks do you happen like?
- 19:51Speaker 4: I'll tell you. Google, Microsoft. I love Microsoft. I've been
- 19:56Speaker 4: adding to Microsoft, and I've been selling a lot of
- 19:59Speaker 4: cash-secured puts to add more if the price should drop down.
- 20:04Speaker 1: How much is Microsoft to share?
- 20:06Speaker 4: Microsoft is around... Oh, what is it now? Three, hold
- 20:11Speaker 4: on a minute, I'll tell you. $ 300?
- 20:12Speaker 1: It's over $ 300.
- 20:15Speaker 5: I share.
- 20:16Speaker 4: Let's see. It is $ 423.
- 20:21Speaker 1: I share.
- 20:22Speaker 4: That's a good price. Anything below, you could sell a
- 20:26Speaker 4: cash-secured put. I've been doing it at like $ 390. 385-370.
- 20:32Speaker 1: Stand by. Just stand by for a second. Hang on.
- 20:34Speaker 1: I'll get back to him in a minute. Ron Furb,
- 20:36Speaker 1: NewsRadio 570, Dodie Cooley, an intelligent caller. I'll pick up
- 20:39Speaker 1: my conversation with him and more right after this. The Sky.
- 20:44Speaker 1: NewsRadio 570, WKVN. WKVN. Heidi Ho, boys and girls, 435
- 20:50Speaker 1: on a Monday afternoon, May 18th. We're at 89 degrees,
- 20:54Speaker 1: and it's not raining today. The sun is shining. It's
- 20:56Speaker 1: not raining. Things are starting to dry out, and we
- 20:59Speaker 1: couldn't be happier about that. All right, I want to
- 21:01Speaker 1: go back to Intelligent Caller. Basically, I agree with you
- 21:05Speaker 1: if you're saying all these people are trying to fight AI.
- 21:08Speaker 1: You can't fight technology. It's coming whether you like it
- 21:11Speaker 1: or not. And I also say to all those people
- 21:13Speaker 1: in these local communities, you're going to use it too.
- 21:18Speaker 1: You're almost like a hypocrite. You're going to use it,
- 21:21Speaker 1: but you don't want a data center in your community
- 21:25Speaker 1: And I go back to say this. This doesn't make
- 21:27Speaker 1: any sense to me, and perhaps you could elaborate on
- 21:30Speaker 1: it if you agree or not. If you put a
- 21:32Speaker 1: data center here, I would prefer it in this area because–
- 21:38Speaker 1: It can lower your property taxes. If you put that
- 21:41Speaker 1: data center, let's say, in Lordstown and North Jackson, part
- 21:44Speaker 1: of it was going to be in Lordstown, part of
- 21:46Speaker 1: it was going to be in North Jackson. Then the
- 21:48Speaker 1: property taxes for everybody in those two communities would be
- 21:52Speaker 1: lowered because a lot of the fixed levy cost would
- 21:55Speaker 1: be shifted to that huge building. And their property taxes,
- 22:00Speaker 1: as long as you make sure there are zero tax
- 22:04Speaker 1: abatements given by anybody, the state or local community, there
- 22:07Speaker 1: can be zero tax abatements. That would be the requirements.
- 22:11Speaker 1: So if that's the case, your local property taxes could
- 22:15Speaker 1: come down because a lot of that burden being shifted
- 22:18Speaker 1: to that facility. And if you build that facility anywhere
- 22:22Speaker 1: within the grid, which is substantial, it's state's, well, your
- 22:27Speaker 1: electric costs could go up without getting any of those
- 22:30Speaker 1: benefits anyway. Do you agree with that?
- 22:34Speaker 4: Part of it. I agree with part of it. You're
- 22:36Speaker 4: going to have deals made with the politicians. There's no
- 22:40Speaker 4: way around that. Politicians will be politicians.
- 22:43Speaker 1: But why screw the person? When you say deals are made,
- 22:48Speaker 1: why should a data center get any tax abatement at all?
- 22:51Speaker 1: Because I say it again, they need this location because
- 22:56Speaker 1: we have the infrastructure as far as the transmission lines,
- 22:59Speaker 1: and we have the perfect weather for data centers. It's
- 23:03Speaker 1: not like Florida where it's really hot. It's basically you
- 23:07Speaker 1: got a lot of cool weather, cloudy skies. And remember,
- 23:12Speaker 1: data centers generate a lot of heat, takes a lot
- 23:15Speaker 1: of cooling. This is an ideal location for data centers
- 23:18Speaker 1: weather-wise and transmission line-wise. I mean, so why should we
- 23:23Speaker 1: kowtow to them? And I know what you're saying. Politicians
- 23:26Speaker 1: are idiots and would do it anyway, or the state
- 23:29Speaker 1: would do it. I wouldn't give them a damn thing.
- 23:32Speaker 1: I think they want to be here.
- 23:34Speaker 4: Yeah, Kevin O'Leary basically said that the politicians, it's already
- 23:38Speaker 4: a done deal, all the deals have been made, and
- 23:41Speaker 4: there's a lot of nondisclosure agreements in a lot of
- 23:46Speaker 4: counties that are stopping the people from seeing what's actually
- 23:50Speaker 4: going on. But he did argue that he said when
- 23:53Speaker 4: these are up and running, he said they're going to
- 23:56Speaker 4: generate a grid benefiting electricity. And it's going to actually help...
- 24:03Speaker 4: If they have natural gas, it's going to be useful.
- 24:05Speaker 1: You're saying if they have their own energy plants, the
- 24:08Speaker 1: data center, right?
- 24:09Speaker 4: Yes.
- 24:10Speaker 1: Yeah, but I'm going to ask you a question as
- 24:12Speaker 1: an investor and a smart one that you are. I'll
- 24:15Speaker 1: say it again. Once again, if we keep shifting natural
- 24:18Speaker 1: gas to all of these electric producing facilities, you don't
- 24:22Speaker 1: think your natural gas usage is going to spike and
- 24:25Speaker 1: you're going to be paying more to heat your house
- 24:26Speaker 1: in the winter around here? If you don't have diversity...
- 24:30Speaker 1: that is out there to create electricity, hydro, nuclear, all
- 24:35Speaker 1: this diversity, and you put all your eggs in one basket,
- 24:38Speaker 1: as it seems we're doing with natural gas, then the
- 24:41Speaker 1: demand for natural gas goes up, and in turn, your
- 24:44Speaker 1: price will go up.
- 24:46Speaker 4: We're number one in natural gas in the world.
- 24:49Speaker 1: It doesn't matter. We've got all this oil, and you're
- 24:51Speaker 1: still paying $ 4. 50. They're going to give you the same argument. Well,
- 24:55Speaker 1: it's the global markets, and there's huge demand and all
- 24:58Speaker 1: of this stuff. It's not going to matter that it's
- 25:00Speaker 1: right under my feet. They're going to say, well, that
- 25:02Speaker 1: doesn't do you any good. It's the global markets. We
- 25:05Speaker 1: liquefy it. We sell it to all these other countries.
- 25:08Speaker 1: You're going to have to get with the picture and
- 25:10Speaker 1: pay more.
- 25:11Speaker 4: Well, we also have coal. We have a lot of
- 25:14Speaker 4: clean coal, and I don't know how fast we can
- 25:18Speaker 4: get these plants up and running to supply the electricity,
- 25:21Speaker 4: but I think it's pretty well thought out. The AI
- 25:27Speaker 4: blueprint is a done deal, like I said. That's why
- 25:30Speaker 4: you see the AI stocks performing so well. I mean,
- 25:36Speaker 4: look at the NVIDIA market. Morgan Stan just came out
- 25:40Speaker 4: today with an overweight on NVIDIA, and they upped their
- 25:43Speaker 4: price target to $ 2. 85 from $ 2. 60 based on just the
- 25:48Speaker 4: AI thesis and the AI coming online. So, you know, Walt,
- 25:54Speaker 4: even Trump, Trump and all the politicians are in it.
- 25:58Speaker 4: And I found it really interesting on Trump's latest purchases
- 26:03Speaker 4: in crypto. I know his sons were heavy into crypto,
- 26:06Speaker 4: but the family trusts, put some serious money into two stocks,
- 26:13Speaker 4: which the average guy shouldn't touch, and they're very risky,
- 26:17Speaker 4: Coinbase and MicroStrategy. But you can make a lot of money.
- 26:24Speaker 4: If you have serious money, you're going to make a
- 26:27Speaker 4: lot of money. And getting back, I think that Alex
- 26:30Speaker 4: was talking about the history of Youngstown.
- 26:32Speaker 1: Yes.
- 26:33Speaker 4: I remember back in the mid-50s when I was a
- 26:36Speaker 4: kid walking to school, we had at the Youngstown Air Base,
- 26:41Speaker 4: our congressman at that time was Mike Kerwin. He was
- 26:43Speaker 4: the Speaker of the House. We had a fighter squadron
- 26:48Speaker 4: out at the air base defending Youngstown, Ohio. That's how
- 26:52Speaker 4: strategic we were in the mid-50s with our steel production.
- 26:57Speaker 4: And you would always see these... I think they were
- 27:00Speaker 4: Delta Daggers, the F-102s flying overhead. We got the biggest
- 27:03Speaker 4: kick out of it in formation. They would fly over
- 27:06Speaker 4: downtown Youngstown, the north side, all over the area here
- 27:11Speaker 4: on maneuvers.
- 27:13Speaker 1: Back in the day. I want to ask you this
- 27:16Speaker 1: question because you're a smart guy. How do you assess
- 27:18Speaker 1: the economy right now?
- 27:21Speaker 4: The economy? If you're a little guy, it's terrible. I
- 27:25Speaker 4: feel bad for all the little people. If you have money...
- 27:28Speaker 4: This is the best time to be alive. I'm telling you,
- 27:30Speaker 4: you can make money hand over fist, and your financial
- 27:35Speaker 4: guys will tell you that. But if you're the little
- 27:38Speaker 4: guy just scraping along paycheck to paycheck, the economy is
- 27:42Speaker 4: not good. And what surprised me when Trump came out
- 27:46Speaker 4: over the weekend, they asked him on Air Force One,
- 27:50Speaker 4: don't you care about the economy? And he told the reporter,
- 27:53Speaker 4: I don't care about anything except that Iran's not going
- 27:56Speaker 4: to have the bomb. And I said, he's just spitting
- 28:00Speaker 4: on the little average, you know, worker in this country.
- 28:04Speaker 4: I mean, the guy, I stopped following Trump. I just
- 28:07Speaker 4: follow my stocks now in business. And, you know, the
- 28:11Speaker 4: guy has gone back on every promise he made. And
- 28:14Speaker 4: I just, no wonder his popularity is down to what?
- 28:18Speaker 4: He's 70% of the country is against him. And that's bad, but.
- 28:23Speaker 4: You know, because you definitely don't want the Democrats running
- 28:27Speaker 4: the country. But it seems the Republicans can't get out
- 28:31Speaker 4: of their own way. I mean, they're just terrible.
- 28:35Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. And so there's more, as you say, the
- 28:39Speaker 1: little guy. There's more little guys than there are the
- 28:41Speaker 1: big guys when it comes to the economy.
- 28:43Speaker 4: Definitely. And you were talking about the... senate race in
- 28:47Speaker 4: ohio if you would vote for brown or houston i
- 28:50Speaker 4: mean i'm seriously considering not voting for either one of
- 28:54Speaker 4: them i mean houston was the attorney general he let
- 28:58Speaker 4: fraud go on in this state for the last how
- 29:01Speaker 4: many years was it going on that the attorney general
- 29:05Speaker 4: the wine they all turned up blind eye to what
- 29:08Speaker 4: was going on in springfield what was going on in
- 29:11Speaker 4: columbus all of the fraud everywhere And now he wants
- 29:16Speaker 4: to be our senator. And I just, you know, I
- 29:20Speaker 4: can't vote for either one of those.
- 29:22Speaker 1: Yeah, but by not, sometimes you have to hold your
- 29:25Speaker 1: nose and vote because you know the worst of the
- 29:29Speaker 1: two is Sherrod Brown. I mean, you know that you
- 29:33Speaker 1: have to go with, you have to vote. You know what?
- 29:38Speaker 4: Sherrod Brown wasn't on the Epstein list. I mean, that's
- 29:41Speaker 4: one thing you could say about Sherrod Brown. He has
- 29:44Speaker 4: no Wexler-Epstein money. I don't think he had any AIPAC money.
- 29:49Speaker 4: That's one thing that's a plus in his column. And...
- 29:54Speaker 4: in our new attorney general that the line appointed is
- 29:58Speaker 4: just a yes man that he's not going to go
- 30:00Speaker 4: after fraud so it's going to be business as usual
- 30:03Speaker 4: in the state and a funny note i got a
- 30:06Speaker 4: letter from the uh... iraq on my blacks last tax
- 30:11Speaker 4: return uh... they wanted more documentation on my investments in
- 30:16Speaker 4: supporting data and you know i i i put in
- 30:20Speaker 4: everything i needed to put in but i'm looking at
- 30:23Speaker 4: look at these people They're coming after me, an honest citizen.
- 30:26Speaker 4: You know what I paid in tax last year? It
- 30:29Speaker 4: would knock you over if you knew. But I'm paying.
- 30:33Speaker 4: I'm filling out all the paperwork, doing it correctly, and
- 30:37Speaker 4: they're still hounding me. These bloodsuckers are still coming after me.
- 30:41Speaker 4: Yet all of the people in this state, all of
- 30:44Speaker 4: the fraud, it's just going on. It's a joke. It's
- 30:49Speaker 4: a joke.
- 30:49Speaker 1: Yeah, so you're sitting there saying, The Somalians are getting
- 30:53Speaker 1: away with stealing millions and billions of dollars, and they're
- 30:56Speaker 1: going over your tax return with a fine-tooth comb. And
- 30:58Speaker 1: you paid a bundle in.
- 31:00Speaker 4: Yeah, and I think the next letter I get, I'll say,
- 31:03Speaker 4: schedule an appointment and set me up for an audit.
- 31:06Speaker 4: I want to talk to a person, and we'll do it,
- 31:09Speaker 4: you know, over a desk. And take your time out
- 31:14Speaker 4: for the nickel and dime that they're going to get
- 31:16Speaker 4: out of me. But that's the... I can see on
- 31:21Speaker 4: Trump on his lawsuit that was a good thing that
- 31:23Speaker 4: he did when they weaponized the IRS.
- 31:27Speaker 1: But it sounds to me that I find your comments
- 31:35Speaker 1: interesting in the sense of it sounds to me like
- 31:40Speaker 1: what you've had enough of Trump. Is that fair to say?
- 31:44Speaker 4: Basically, I've stopped following Trump. I mean, he's almost a
- 31:48Speaker 4: joke now. And what I do watch, I watch Saturday
- 31:51Speaker 4: Night Live to see their comedy skits on Trump. And
- 31:55Speaker 4: actually now, I used to really get mad when I
- 31:58Speaker 4: see them. Now I said, well, they're starting to make
- 32:00Speaker 4: a little bit of sense and they're funny.
- 32:02Speaker 1: Why the... I don't want to say the turn on Trump.
- 32:07Speaker 1: Why the difference... uh... why the difference perspective on trump now.
- 32:13Speaker 4: Well that's the two biggest things the epstein files when
- 32:18Speaker 4: when he keeps coming out in pressuring congressman like you
- 32:22Speaker 4: know bobert and now matthew that you know just shut
- 32:26Speaker 4: up be quiet and we don't want to hurt my
- 32:29Speaker 4: friends who happened to by the way be pedophiles but
- 32:32Speaker 4: we're going to let that slide and uh... that really
- 32:36Speaker 4: bothers me you know He said he was going to
- 32:39Speaker 4: release it, and he didn't release it. And the other
- 32:44Speaker 4: thing was the drill, baby, drill. We're going to bring
- 32:48Speaker 4: your energy costs down. Like I mentioned earlier, sign up
- 32:52Speaker 4: for a two-year electric program because your energy costs aren't
- 32:56Speaker 4: going down. Gas or electricity, they're going to be going up.
- 33:00Speaker 4: So he reneged on that promise. That was his big one.
- 33:04Speaker 4: In all the campaigns... It was drill, baby, drill. Your
- 33:08Speaker 4: bills are going to be so much lower, you'll be
- 33:11Speaker 4: sick of winning. And, you know, I bought into that
- 33:13Speaker 4: the first couple of times, and then that bothered me.
- 33:18Speaker 4: The other thing was getting into the war with Iran
- 33:21Speaker 4: when we didn't have to, and especially right before the
- 33:26Speaker 4: midterm elections, what I could never understand, and letting the
- 33:30Speaker 4: Israelis control so much of our decision-making. That really bothered me. Well,
- 33:35Speaker 4: his daughter is converted. She's Jewish. His son-in-law is Jewish.
- 33:40Speaker 4: He's got connections. And then all of his key aides
- 33:45Speaker 4: are Jewish.
- 33:48Speaker 1: Yeah, but when you take a look, who was the
- 33:50Speaker 1: guy that he endorsed a candidate against and he lost
- 33:55Speaker 1: just this past weekend where it was, what, a two-term?
- 34:02Speaker 4: Cassidy lost. That was the senator from Louisiana.
- 34:06Speaker 1: Yeah, voted against Trump, and Trump had it out for him,
- 34:11Speaker 1: and he ended up losing. Now, tomorrow's going to be
- 34:13Speaker 1: interesting to see what happens with Massey, who he is
- 34:18Speaker 1: really Trump. He being Trump really, really just seems like
- 34:23Speaker 1: he has a hatred of Massey. Why does he hate
- 34:25Speaker 1: Massey so much?
- 34:26Speaker 4: Because Massey is the only member of Congress that doesn't
- 34:31Speaker 4: take AIPAC money. And if you look at your, whenever
- 34:34Speaker 4: you hold your phone, your iPhone, and you swipe it
- 34:38Speaker 4: with your finger, think of Massey. You know, he's one
- 34:41Speaker 4: of the guys, he was an MIT engineer. He was
- 34:44Speaker 4: one of the guys that came up with a patent
- 34:46Speaker 4: for the touchscreens on all the smart devices. I mean,
- 34:51Speaker 4: Massey's a very smart guy, and he's got a lot
- 34:54Speaker 4: of money. He can't be bought. And, you know, I
- 34:57Speaker 4: did think Trump couldn't be bought at one time, being
- 35:00Speaker 4: the billionaire that he is. But I think Trump's being
- 35:05Speaker 4: influenced a lot by his donors.
- 35:11Speaker 1: So, I mean, he just, I mean, his attack on what, Bobart,
- 35:16Speaker 1: and I saw that the other day, and Massey. I mean,
- 35:20Speaker 1: he's really, really... going after Massey hard. Huge money coming
- 35:25Speaker 1: in from APAC and that kind of stuff into that
- 35:28Speaker 1: congressional race. I mean, it's a ridiculous amount of money,
- 35:33Speaker 1: outside monies, going in there to try to defeat Massey.
- 35:36Speaker 4: Yeah, I really, really don't care about that race anymore.
- 35:38Speaker 4: I did at one time, I wanted Massey to win,
- 35:41Speaker 4: but the guy that's up against him, who's being backed
- 35:44Speaker 4: by the APAC money, is a Navy SEAL, and he's
- 35:48Speaker 4: got pretty good credentials, so it It doesn't really matter,
- 35:52Speaker 4: you know, who wins that race. There's still going to
- 35:54Speaker 4: be an R. But if it's Massey, he's going to
- 35:59Speaker 4: be a thorn in Trump's side for the next two years.
- 36:04Speaker 1: Well, I mean, it's almost like he's turning on his
- 36:07Speaker 1: own people.
- 36:08Speaker 4: Yeah, and that's the other, there you had, you hit
- 36:11Speaker 4: the nail on the head. He's turning on the MAGA people.
- 36:14Speaker 4: He doesn't care about us. The people that supported him
- 36:17Speaker 4: went to all his rallies. talk people into voting for him.
- 36:21Speaker 4: He's like, we don't matter anymore. He said the price
- 36:25Speaker 4: we're paying, he said on Air Force One, he said
- 36:28Speaker 4: it's going to be worth it to keep Iran from getting...
- 36:31Speaker 4: And if I hear that one more time, I'm going
- 36:34Speaker 4: to explode. And the same thing, if I hear one
- 36:37Speaker 4: more time, we're going to turn you into dust and
- 36:40Speaker 4: you're going to see a big red ball over Iran
- 36:43Speaker 4: in the coming days if you don't... I mean, he
- 36:44Speaker 4: keeps bringing up all these crazy... scenarios, what he's going
- 36:50Speaker 4: to do when he never does it.
- 36:52Speaker 1: Why do you think Iran hasn't given in yet?
- 36:56Speaker 4: Oh, they don't have to. They're holding a lot of cards.
- 37:00Speaker 4: They can keep that straight closed until Election Day, and
- 37:05Speaker 4: they know it. And they also have a lot of
- 37:08Speaker 4: munitions and missiles that they could, if we attack them again,
- 37:12Speaker 4: they could retaliate against all of the Gulf states. against
- 37:17Speaker 4: their refineries and all of their desalination plants that can
- 37:21Speaker 4: really cause havoc in the Middle East. So Iran, despite
- 37:26Speaker 4: Trump saying the war was over on day two, the
- 37:30Speaker 4: war is not over.
- 37:31Speaker 1: I always appreciate your call and your insight. I know
- 37:33Speaker 1: you're a very smart man and a very wise investor.
- 37:36Speaker 1: Thank you for your time. I appreciate it.
- 37:38Speaker 4: Right. See you, Ron.
- 37:38Speaker 2: NewsRadio 570 WKBN.
- 37:43Speaker 1: NewsRadio 570. It's a hot one out there. 4.55 in
- 37:47Speaker 1: the afternoon on a Monday. And Ron Ferb with you
- 37:49Speaker 1: until 6. Guardians pregame tonight at 6 o'clock. First pitch
- 37:53Speaker 1: a little after 6.30 on NewsRadio 570. Cavs play on Tuesday.
- 37:58Speaker 1: So things are looking good for the Cavaliers, obviously, on
- 38:02Speaker 1: to the next level there. Basketball playoffs go on forever.
- 38:05Speaker 1: Guardians tonight, and we have a day without rain and
- 38:09Speaker 1: warm weather. What's not to love, huh? 456, 90 degrees,
- 38:13Speaker 1: always glad you tuned in. Ron Furb from the Kingdom
- 38:14Speaker 1: of Mahoney, and you're on the air.
- 38:16Speaker 5: Ron?
- 38:18Speaker 1: Yes, it is the boss lady. Well, I wondered, I
- 38:22Speaker 1: thought you were either in jail or the hospital.
- 38:25Speaker 5: Oh, no, no, not in jail.
- 38:28Speaker 1: I haven't heard from you for a while. I've been
- 38:31Speaker 1: so busy. The election's over. There's nothing to make you busy. Work.
- 38:37Speaker 5: My job job.
- 38:38Speaker 1: Oh, that. Okay. Oh, making a living. I forgot.
- 38:42Speaker 4: Yes.
- 38:42Speaker 5: Paying these bills.
- 38:44Speaker 4: Yes.
- 38:45Speaker 1: You know? Absolutely.
- 38:47Speaker 5: Well, my concern, I'm going to tell you, I disagree
- 38:51Speaker 5: with you on the data centers. And you know who
- 38:53Speaker 5: else disagrees with you? And someone you very much admire.
- 38:58Speaker 5: Take a wild guess. You love them.
- 39:02Speaker 1: Somebody else I very much admire, and I love them.
- 39:06Speaker 4: You do. You love them.
- 39:09Speaker 1: You think Dave Thomas disagrees with me?
- 39:12Speaker 5: Nope. I know you are obsessed with Dave Thomas, not him.
- 39:15Speaker 1: Yeah, because when I talked to him, he agreed with me.
- 39:18Speaker 5: Well, come on. He agrees with you.
- 39:20Speaker 1: Yes. He agrees with you. He agrees with me that
- 39:21Speaker 1: it shares the thing. Okay, who that I love disagrees
- 39:25Speaker 1: with me? Well, explain that to me.
- 39:29Speaker 5: And I'm going to tell you from my perspective. You
- 39:33Speaker 5: keep saying... And you're going to use them. I'm not
- 39:36Speaker 5: going to use a data center. I'm a third party.
- 39:39Speaker 5: I'm not a first-person user of a data center in
- 39:42Speaker 5: any way.
- 39:42Speaker 1: You will over time. Come on. You know as well
- 39:45Speaker 1: as I do.
- 39:46Speaker 5: I am not a first-person. Microsoft, Google, they're going to
- 39:50Speaker 5: use them. These tax abatements, you're acting like we're going
- 39:53Speaker 5: to get this big payback or it's going to help us.
- 39:59Speaker 5: It ain't going to help us. How is it going
- 40:01Speaker 5: to help us? They give all these agreements.
- 40:05Speaker 4: They're all hush-hush. They're all hush-hush.
- 40:08Speaker 5: The people have to sign these contracts that don't allow
- 40:15Speaker 5: anybody to know what was even discussed in them. And
- 40:18Speaker 5: they are not benefiting the taxpayer. It's going to cause
- 40:21Speaker 5: our bills to go up. And many people are saying
- 40:25Speaker 5: that it will impact water. Now, I know it uses
- 40:28Speaker 5: a hell of a lot of water, but if it leaches,
- 40:30Speaker 5: and I don't know about that, but there's a lot
- 40:32Speaker 5: of concern about it. I don't care where they put
- 40:35Speaker 5: the data centers, but those data centers are only going
- 40:37Speaker 5: to provide about 15, 20 jobs. Why are we bending
- 40:41Speaker 5: over backwards for 15 to 20 jobs? I don't care
- 40:43Speaker 5: about 15 to 20 jobs.
- 40:44Speaker 1: Okay, stand by. Settle down, Beavis. Hang in there for
- 40:48Speaker 1: a minute, okay?
- 40:54Speaker 6: From ABC News, I'm Lindsay Davis, anchor of Prime Streaming
- 40:59Speaker 6: Weeknights on ABC News Live. Two suspects in a shooting
- 41:02Speaker 6: at an Islamic center in San Diego this afternoon have
- 41:05Speaker 6: now been killed and all the children are safe. ABC's
- 41:08Speaker 6: Alex Stone has been speaking with law enforcement sources.
- 41:10Speaker 7: My question was, are there victims? And it was yes,
- 41:13Speaker 7: and in the plural, and it was yes. But we
- 41:16Speaker 7: don't know any more than that as they are actively
- 41:19Speaker 7: working it right now. But everything is now going to
- 41:21Speaker 7: begin slowing down because a threat is no longer there.
- 41:26Speaker 7: As they have cleared the building, they think this is
- 41:28Speaker 7: over and done.
- 41:29Speaker 6: The Trump administration is opening up a more than $ 1. 7
- 41:32Speaker 6: billion fund to pay claims for alleged victims of government weaponization.
- 41:36Speaker 6: It's part of a settlement between President Trump and the
- 41:38Speaker 6: administration of Iran following the leak of his tax returns
- 41:41Speaker 6: by an IRS contractor. ABC News national correspondent Stephen Portnoy
- 41:45Speaker 6: has more from Washington.
- 41:46Speaker 3: The Justice Department says its new anti-weaponization fund will be
- 41:50Speaker 3: controlled by a five-member board appointed by the Attorney General.
- 41:53Speaker 3: It's expected to pay out claims to those who experienced
- 41:56Speaker 3: what officials call weaponization and lawfare. Democrats say they fear
- 42:00Speaker 3: rioters who ransacked the Capitol could now receive taxpayer money.
- 42:04Speaker 3: Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer calls it depraved.
- 42:07Speaker 2: Even in the worst and most corrupt administrations we've had,
- 42:10Speaker 2: we've never seen anything like this.
- 42:12Speaker 3: Stephen Portnoy, ABC News, Washington.
- 42:15Speaker 6: An American is now tested positive for Ebola after working
- 42:18Speaker 6: in the Democratic Republic of Congo. That person has now
- 42:21Speaker 6: been transferred to a military base in Germany. ABC News
- 42:24Speaker 6: medical correspondent Dr. Darian Sutton has more on how Ebola spreads.
- 42:27Speaker 7: With Ebola infections, they most often spread when someone is symptomatic,
- 42:31Speaker 7: meaning that they have active symptoms, and it often spreads
- 42:34Speaker 7: through direct contact with bodily fluids from the infected person.
- 42:37Speaker 6: The CDC stresses the risk to the American public remains low,
- 42:41Speaker 6: and in Oakland, California, a jury has tossed out Elon
- 42:43Speaker 6: Musk's lawsuit against OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, finding the lawsuit
- 42:47Speaker 6: was not filed in time.
- 42:49Speaker 1: You're listening to ABC News.
