- 0:05Speaker 1: At the Inside Scoop with that FT senior insider Ken Rosenthal,
- 0:08Speaker 1: Todd's excited for this, all right, Ken, let's do it.
- 0:10Speaker 1: Erk scoogle latest update related to the Brewers that you
- 0:13Speaker 1: just posted I found fascinating.
- 0:16Speaker 2: Right Well, obviously, the Brewers play in the smallest market
- 0:19Speaker 2: in baseball, and a lot of people, including myself, have
- 0:23Speaker 2: questioned whether they could take on Schooble's salary, which at
- 0:26Speaker 2: the deadline will be about nine point four million. That
- 0:28Speaker 2: will be what is left. And the answer I got
- 0:31Speaker 2: this morning from talking to someone who would have knowledge
- 0:34Speaker 2: of that, is yes, the salary will not be the problem.
- 0:37Speaker 2: The problem will be, of course, what the package the
- 0:40Speaker 2: Tigers would want would be. And of course the Tigers
- 0:44Speaker 2: are asking for teams number one prospects, as you might expect.
- 0:47Speaker 3: But do they.
- 0:49Speaker 2: Ultimately get that for a rental? I kind of doubt it,
- 0:52Speaker 2: So we'll see where this goes.
- 0:54Speaker 3: All right?
- 0:55Speaker 4: So are they in line if they're willing to take
- 0:58Speaker 4: the money, are they in line to beat the Dodgers?
- 1:01Speaker 4: What we're hearing is, oh, the Dodgers is going to
- 1:03Speaker 4: wait and your words were wait around the rim and
- 1:05Speaker 4: dunk on the league. They're gonna be lurking here. Do
- 1:09Speaker 4: they have what it takes to get it across? Not
- 1:11Speaker 4: if they're going to do it or not, but do
- 1:13Speaker 4: they have what it takes to push past the Dodgers.
- 1:16Speaker 2: Oh, they certainly have what it takes. From a prospect standpoint,
- 1:19Speaker 2: this is the game's number one farm system. But the
- 1:23Speaker 2: question is how willing would they be to part with
- 1:25Speaker 2: some of those prospects and with the Brewers Unlike the Dodgers,
- 1:29Speaker 2: those young players are the lifeblood of their organization. That's
- 1:32Speaker 2: why they can contend year after year. They keep spitting
- 1:35Speaker 2: these guys out bringing them to the major leagues. So
- 1:38Speaker 2: from that perspective, yes, they can certainly do it. But again,
- 1:43Speaker 2: if you're the Dodgers and you're thinking, Okay, we don't
- 1:46Speaker 2: necessarily need to do this, we don't have to do it.
- 1:50Speaker 2: But if the Brewers and the Rays and other teams
- 1:53Speaker 2: are unwilling to cough up their prospects, then the Dodgers
- 1:57Speaker 2: of course have a great system as well, nine players
- 2:01Speaker 2: in the top one hundred on MLB dot Com. They
- 2:03Speaker 2: can obviously do this. They obviously can take the money
- 2:06Speaker 2: as well. So that's the dynamic that I see here,
- 2:10Speaker 2: And I might be misreading it. It's always possible at
- 2:13Speaker 2: this time of year. But it's whether the small market teams,
- 2:16Speaker 2: the two of them, the Rays of the Brewers, or
- 2:18Speaker 2: anyone else that might be involved, would be willing to
- 2:21Speaker 2: pay the price necessary in the prospects to get schoolable.
- 2:26Speaker 2: If not, then the Dodgers swoop in. And maybe they
- 2:29Speaker 2: swoop in at it anyway, I don't really know.
- 2:32Speaker 3: I love that.
- 2:33Speaker 5: I cannot wait to see where he goes. It's gonna
- 2:35Speaker 5: change baseball as we know it for this year. Oh man,
- 2:39Speaker 5: I'm so excited because I thought they should trade him.
- 2:42Speaker 3: For sure.
- 2:43Speaker 5: I'm gonna switch gears here Cincinnati Reads. There's been some
- 2:46Speaker 5: Hunter Green talk. I've been an advocate by saying I
- 2:49Speaker 5: don't want this guy out of there. Maybe I'm a
- 2:51Speaker 5: little biased because I played with him. I love everything
- 2:54Speaker 5: about Cincinnati, Chase Burns and him should be a staple
- 2:57Speaker 5: for the next some odd years to come. What are
- 2:59Speaker 5: your thoughts about Green leaving the Cincinnati Raids and getting traded.
- 3:03Speaker 2: Well, Todd I reported yesterday that they are listening, and
- 3:06Speaker 2: actually they're getting hit on by a number of teams
- 3:10Speaker 2: interested in Hunter Green. And you can understand that he
- 3:12Speaker 2: throws a zillion miles an hour, and when right, he's
- 3:15Speaker 2: not always right physically. Of course, he is one of
- 3:18Speaker 2: the more talented pitchers in the game. I'm hearing mixed
- 3:22Speaker 2: on their willingness to actually do something here, and there
- 3:25Speaker 2: are people telling me, well, yes, if you're overwhelming them
- 3:27Speaker 2: with the right package, of course they would do it.
- 3:29Speaker 2: I'm sure that's true. And then there are people saying
- 3:31Speaker 2: he really isn't available because the price is so high.
- 3:35Speaker 2: So do I expect him to be traded? I would
- 3:38Speaker 2: say I would not say that I would expect it,
- 3:40Speaker 2: but it's possible.
- 3:42Speaker 3: All right.
- 3:43Speaker 4: Let's go to the north of the border with the
- 3:44Speaker 4: Blue Jays. Are they looking to shed payroll? Are they
- 3:47Speaker 4: looking to make a move that will bolster this team
- 3:50Speaker 4: for twenty twenty seven at this trade deadline?
- 3:54Speaker 2: Blue Jays are a very intriguing team here. They have
- 3:57Speaker 2: pieces other players or other teams want, And I'm talking
- 4:01Speaker 2: about Gossman and Varshow and George Springer and Jeff Hoffman.
- 4:06Speaker 2: They're not looking to shed payroll necessarily, but the reality
- 4:09Speaker 2: of their situation is if they trade those guys, they
- 4:13Speaker 2: will be shedding payroll. And those guys are coming off
- 4:15Speaker 2: the books at the end of the season anyway. So
- 4:18Speaker 2: the Blue Jays are one of those clubs with the
- 4:20Speaker 2: ability to yes, make sell type trades while also bringing
- 4:25Speaker 2: in other players who can help them in twenty seven
- 4:28Speaker 2: and beyond who are perhaps making some good money. So
- 4:33Speaker 2: they're a team that even this morning, I had someone
- 4:36Speaker 2: tell me if they have a good weekend against I
- 4:37Speaker 2: believe they're playing the Reds, then maybe they don't sell
- 4:40Speaker 2: us heavily. I don't know that that's true. But they're
- 4:44Speaker 2: a team to watch because with the financial flexibility, they
- 4:48Speaker 2: have the payroll flexibility, they're gonna be in position to
- 4:51Speaker 2: do really any number of things.
- 4:55Speaker 4: All right, what about the Oriels. Do they have to
- 4:57Speaker 4: get they have to win two games against the Phillies
- 4:59Speaker 4: and they're going to be buyers or are we looking
- 5:01Speaker 4: at a selling team.
- 5:03Speaker 2: I don't believe the Orioles and a number of these
- 5:06Speaker 2: other teams are even looking at it that way. Eric,
- 5:08Speaker 2: the Oriols are operating as both buyers and sellers, and
- 5:12Speaker 2: if they find deals in either direction that they like,
- 5:17Speaker 2: they're going to make those deals. Now, that is a
- 5:21Speaker 2: complicated thing to manage if you're their president. Baseball operations,
- 5:25Speaker 2: Michael oas but you can understand it in the position
- 5:29Speaker 2: that they're in, and I would expect a lot of
- 5:31Speaker 2: these contenders you're seeing in this standings right here are
- 5:35Speaker 2: in kind of the same position. I would expect. Detroit
- 5:38Speaker 2: is not purely going to sell. Yeah, they might trade school,
- 5:42Speaker 2: they might trade mines, but who's coming back and what
- 5:44Speaker 2: comes back might help them compete for this year and beyond.
- 5:50Speaker 5: Talk a little about the Dodgers here as we go
- 5:52Speaker 5: here about Otani his injury a little bit. Talk about
- 5:55Speaker 5: what you're hearing there. Is there a little bit more
- 5:59Speaker 5: to it, And is this Dodger team, considering what's going
- 6:02Speaker 5: on with Otani, are they going to be buyers or
- 6:05Speaker 5: sellers as they move forward here?
- 6:08Speaker 2: Well, the Dodgers are always going to be lurking for
- 6:11Speaker 2: the best players in the game. Andrew Friedman said that
- 6:13Speaker 2: on the record yesterday and we've seen that time and again.
- 6:17Speaker 2: They're going to be involved with Scooble and they'll be
- 6:19Speaker 2: involved with others. But at the same time, they're in
- 6:23Speaker 2: a unique spot as they were last year with their
- 6:25Speaker 2: rotation because Eric Lauer is a guy they picked them
- 6:29Speaker 2: up kind of on a waiver type deal in late May.
- 6:32Speaker 2: I believe it was. He's pitched really well for them,
- 6:35Speaker 2: and they don't necessarily need him as a starter going
- 6:37Speaker 2: forward because Blake Snell's coming back eventually. Tyler Glass now
- 6:40Speaker 2: and eventually, according to everything the Dodgers say, Shoeo Tani
- 6:44Speaker 2: will be back on the mound. So they can trade
- 6:47Speaker 2: Eric Lauer in the same way that they traded dustin
- 6:50Speaker 2: May last year, operating in that sense as a seller.
- 6:54Speaker 2: They can do the same thing with Alex Call with
- 6:56Speaker 2: Kiky Hernandez coming off the il soon, So you may
- 7:00Speaker 2: see the Dodgers make moves like that. You might see
- 7:03Speaker 2: them take their prospects. They have so many outfield prospects
- 7:06Speaker 2: and try to rebalance their group of young players by
- 7:09Speaker 2: trading some outfielders for catchers or infielders or even pitchers
- 7:13Speaker 2: young players prospects. They can do any number of things.
- 7:17Speaker 2: I know, I keep saying that, but that's the reality
- 7:20Speaker 2: of the deadline. All these teams are operating on multiple fronts.
- 7:25Speaker 4: Buying and selling is rare, but it seems like a
- 7:27Speaker 4: lot are doing it. Getting a catcher at the trade
- 7:30Speaker 4: deadline is rare, but man, so many names keep coming up.
- 7:33Speaker 4: Hunter good Man Ailie Rutschman, Tyler Stevenson, Ryan Jeffers, where's
- 7:38Speaker 4: that market across the game, and will there be multiple
- 7:42Speaker 4: big name catchers moved?
- 7:46Speaker 2: Eric, That is one of the more intriguing questions that
- 7:49Speaker 2: we're seeing here. There are a number of teams, some
- 7:53Speaker 2: big market teams, some prominent teams, the Yankees, the Red Sox,
- 7:56Speaker 2: Tampa Bay. They on need catchers. Other teams do two
- 8:00Speaker 2: and other teams look at guys like Goodman and Rushman
- 8:03Speaker 2: say well, he's a lot better than what we have.
- 8:05Speaker 2: Those guys are premium catchers. Will they get moved, That's
- 8:09Speaker 2: another question. And the price for Goodman is, as it
- 8:13Speaker 2: should be, rather high. They two are asking for team's
- 8:16Speaker 2: number one prospects and a trade for a guy who's
- 8:19Speaker 2: hit thirty plus home runs, three years of control after
- 8:22Speaker 2: this season. Of course that's what they would want. I
- 8:25Speaker 2: don't know that he gets moved. I don't know that
- 8:27Speaker 2: Rushman gets moved. He's currently on the IL. That kind
- 8:30Speaker 2: of complicates matters, Ryan Jeffers, It seems the Twins clearly
- 8:34Speaker 2: are operating as buyers. They acquired AJ Minter last night.
- 8:37Speaker 2: I don't see why they would necessarily trade Ryan Jeffers
- 8:41Speaker 2: and then Tyler Stevenson. Yes, he's a rental who will
- 8:43Speaker 2: go somewhere to some team that needs a catcher. Texas
- 8:47Speaker 2: is another one, and even the Dodgers could use a
- 8:49Speaker 2: catcher with Will Smith's uncertainty, though it seems like he
- 8:53Speaker 2: is making progress coming back from that neck injury.
- 8:57Speaker 5: New York Mets AJ Minners, Bye bye, see you later.
- 9:01Speaker 3: Just one move.
- 9:02Speaker 5: Do you think this Mets team is going to make
- 9:05Speaker 5: a plethora of moves after we just saw him leave
- 9:08Speaker 5: the Mets to go to a different organization.
- 9:11Speaker 2: Plethora is a good word, Todd. And I've set the
- 9:13Speaker 2: over under its six trades, and I may be on
- 9:16Speaker 2: the underside. The Mets are obviously operating as an active seller.
- 9:23Speaker 2: We saw the mentor trade. Freddie Peralta is supposed to
- 9:26Speaker 2: pitch tonight. He has been scratched, not because they have
- 9:29Speaker 2: a deal in place, but because they are getting significant
- 9:32Speaker 2: interest don't want to take any chances. It's the same
- 9:35Speaker 2: thing the Tigers are doing with Casey miz Now. I
- 9:38Speaker 2: can see the Mets trading Peralta as well as Clay Holmes,
- 9:42Speaker 2: who is still working his way back from his fractured fibula.
- 9:45Speaker 2: Obviously they've traded mintor Brooks Railey, another potential free agent
- 9:49Speaker 2: left handed reliever is almost certain to go. Luis Robert Jr.
- 9:54Speaker 2: Tyrone Taylor. Those are the obvious ones. Then Luke Weaver
- 9:58Speaker 2: is maybe the biggest question because Luke Weaver is a
- 10:01Speaker 2: guy with another year of control. The Mets obviously intend
- 10:04Speaker 2: to be better next year. They're going to want to
- 10:06Speaker 2: compete again, and Luke Weaver is one of the best
- 10:09Speaker 2: relievers in the game. If Mason Miller is not traded,
- 10:13Speaker 2: if Adrian Morejone is not traded by the Padres, maybe
- 10:16Speaker 2: Weaver is the best reliever available, and maybe the Mets
- 10:19Speaker 2: crush it in a trade and just do it. The
- 10:21Speaker 2: Brewers are in on Weaver, the Pirates are in on Weaver,
- 10:24Speaker 2: and I'm sure other teams are strong as well.
- 10:28Speaker 4: John Mozaylock is the interim GM for the Angels. Is
- 10:32Speaker 4: it easier for teams now to say, hey, we could
- 10:36Speaker 4: possibly get this because they're actually listening, or is John's
- 10:41Speaker 4: just you know, willing to answer the phone the next
- 10:44Speaker 4: the next positive step.
- 10:47Speaker 2: This is another mystery of the deadline. What the Angels
- 10:50Speaker 2: are going.
- 10:50Speaker 3: To do now?
- 10:51Speaker 2: We saw them make one trade the other night, Chase
- 10:53Speaker 2: still Seth and Logo Hoppy going to Texas. But the
- 10:56Speaker 2: big questions are the relievers with I'm sorry this starting
- 11:00Speaker 2: pitchers with two additional years of control. We're talking about
- 11:03Speaker 2: Jose Soriano and read Debt Meers and shortstop with an
- 11:07Speaker 2: additional three years of control. That would be Zach Neto.
- 11:11Speaker 2: Now do they ain sorry just watching my text here,
- 11:16Speaker 2: do they actually do something along those lines? I don't know.
- 11:20Speaker 2: But the Angels are a team that John Mozilla has
- 11:24Speaker 2: acknowledged need to make changes, so in that sense, while
- 11:29Speaker 2: he has also said they don't need to rebuild, if
- 11:31Speaker 2: you want to make change, you do it with some
- 11:34Speaker 2: players like these guys. I just mentioned Soriano, Debts, Neto.
- 11:38Speaker 2: Who are people that will attract good packages for your club?
- 11:44Speaker 3: Guys?
- 11:44Speaker 2: I can think one more?
- 11:46Speaker 1: Okay, well then I'm gonna take it. So Ken, we've
- 11:49Speaker 1: got John Fox on Saturday, Yankees in Cubs. So let's
- 11:53Speaker 1: finish with what to expect with those teams and what
- 11:55Speaker 1: you might be reporting about.
- 11:58Speaker 2: The Yankees are obviously looking for a bat and they
- 12:01Speaker 2: need one badly. I don't expect them to be big
- 12:04Speaker 2: in Schooble the other need that they have is bullpen
- 12:07Speaker 2: and if Mason Miller can somehow be pride loose from
- 12:10Speaker 2: San Diego, the Yankees would love to do it. I
- 12:13Speaker 2: don't know that I see it happening. The Cubs. We
- 12:16Speaker 2: just posted the story saying that they're in on Peralta.
- 12:19Speaker 2: They're in on all the starting pitchers, including Scooble for
- 12:22Speaker 2: that matter. And they've gotten by lately with the guys
- 12:25Speaker 2: that they have, and they've done well with it, but
- 12:27Speaker 2: they clearly need more pitching help, both starting in relief,
- 12:30Speaker 2: and that's where their activity is going to lie.
- 12:33Speaker 1: Okay, Ken, good stuff, Back to the phone. We'll talk
- 12:36Speaker 1: to you soon. Okay, we'll see on Fox this weekend.
- 12:39Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 12:40Speaker 1: Yeah, Ken will be on Fox and Fox one this weekend.
- 12:43Speaker 1: Start your Fox one watch three days free trial today
- 12:47Speaker 1: at foxwe dot com. If you're watching us, you already
- 12:54Speaker 1: know we're wearing mack Weldon right now as we talk
- 12:56Speaker 1: about a great brand that makes things so comfortable and
- 12:59Speaker 1: easy to where. But if you're listening to the show,
- 13:02Speaker 1: let me tell you a little bit more about mac
- 13:04Speaker 1: Weldon with my friend Eric Kratz.
- 13:06Speaker 4: Yeah, it's comfortable, it's light, it's summertime right now. For me, though,
- 13:12Speaker 4: they cater to what I need tall clothes. Normally, when
- 13:16Speaker 4: I buy tall clothes it's like something that's cumbersome and boxy.
- 13:20Speaker 4: It still fits incredibly well, super light, perfect for the summertime.
- 13:26Speaker 4: They got me all covered.
- 13:28Speaker 1: Comfortable performance material can be yours. Mack Weldon is the spot.
- 13:35Speaker 1: Don't sweat the heat this summer. Feel as effortlessly cool
- 13:38Speaker 1: as you look. With Mac Weldon, go to Mackweldon dot
- 13:40Speaker 1: com and get twenty percent off your first order of

- 13:44Speaker 1: code FOUL. That's m ackw e L d o N
- 13:47Speaker 1: dot com code.
- 13:48Speaker 3: F o U L.
- 13:52Speaker 1: All right, so let's do some trade predictions guys with
- 13:55Speaker 1: the help of Out of the Park Baseball twenty seven
- 13:59Speaker 1: based on simulations of the trade deadline, and they're looking
- 14:03Speaker 1: at how things stand at this point. So we'll show
- 14:07Speaker 1: a board of some guys on their list of very
- 14:10Speaker 1: high chance of trade. Some of the guys on this
- 14:12Speaker 1: list have an eighty two I mean not many, but
- 14:15Speaker 1: one hundred percent chance of being dealt. We're going to
- 14:19Speaker 1: do a Blue Jays focus to start here. I'm going
- 14:21Speaker 1: to rack a few Blue Jays guys in a row.
- 14:24Speaker 1: So let us begin with Shane Bieber, and I think
- 14:29Speaker 1: this is cool because teams in their top two right,
- 14:33Speaker 1: they have about a thirty seven percent chance for Cleveland.
- 14:36Speaker 1: Then the next highest percent chance they have is the Phillies. Pirates, Brewers,
- 14:40Speaker 1: White Sox, and Marlins are on this list in terms
- 14:43Speaker 1: of the simulations that they ran right. They're taking where
- 14:46Speaker 1: we're at in the standings, how teams are doing where
- 14:48Speaker 1: the rosters are at, and putting percentage chances of trade destinations. Kratz,
- 14:52Speaker 1: what do you think about that list? Shane Bieber, I mean,
- 14:55Speaker 1: the Guardians need offense more than anything, but it doesn't
- 14:59Speaker 1: mean they can't pick up a starting pitcher.
- 15:02Speaker 4: I think this is where the Phillies have to They
- 15:05Speaker 4: have to sit in this realm because unless they're willing
- 15:08Speaker 4: to somehow trade from their big league roster, I think
- 15:12Speaker 4: this is where the Phillies have to sit. I don't
- 15:15Speaker 4: think the Pirates are as good a fit. I think
- 15:17Speaker 4: if the Brewers find value in a guy that hasn't
- 15:22Speaker 4: been great and says, okay, we can we can do
- 15:25Speaker 4: this with them, I think they could emerge. But I
- 15:27Speaker 4: think they're going to essentially emerge into another Blue Jay pitcher.
- 15:31Speaker 4: So I won't say that yet, but to me, I
- 15:33Speaker 4: think Shane Bieber is a white sock. I think he's
- 15:36Speaker 4: a white sock. I think there's a much it's a
- 15:39Speaker 4: by low type of situation, and we'll see what we
- 15:43Speaker 4: can get from him. And he's got experience to kind
- 15:46Speaker 4: of speak into that young locker room.
- 15:49Speaker 1: Two start to go, he looked awesome. Then you're doing
- 15:52Speaker 1: a lot of recency bias. Last start couldn't throw strike,
- 15:55Speaker 1: but then they said he was having trouble gripping the baseball. No, okay,
- 16:02Speaker 1: I'm just saying I'm just the messenger. Let's get to
- 16:05Speaker 1: his teammate.
- 16:05Speaker 3: I don't shoot the messenger. I won't.
- 16:08Speaker 1: I'm scared to him, Kevin Gossman. So they have the
- 16:12Speaker 1: Cubs as the heavy favorite in their mind in terms
- 16:16Speaker 1: of a nice fit. Phillies are on this list again too,
- 16:19Speaker 1: White Sox, Brewers, Guardians, Twins. They have a of those
- 16:25Speaker 1: teams forty one point seven percent to Chicago, twenty seven
- 16:29Speaker 1: point three percent to Philly. This is simulations running. They're
- 16:33Speaker 1: not going off the reports over the last minute, right,
- 16:36Speaker 1: But what do you think about some of the potential
- 16:38Speaker 1: trade destinations for Kevin Gosman here Kratz.
- 16:42Speaker 4: Bruce Bruce, I said it last time. I understand the
- 16:47Speaker 4: other teams. I understand the Cubs are going to be
- 16:49Speaker 4: in there. To me, I think the Cubs need to
- 16:52Speaker 4: be a push for Scooble because I think they see
- 16:56Speaker 4: that they're going to play another another round. They see
- 17:00Speaker 4: that they're not going to catch the Brewers. And I
- 17:02Speaker 4: know before they said unless it's a buye, let's we're
- 17:05Speaker 4: getting to buy in the playoffs, we're not moving in
- 17:07Speaker 4: like to me, Gosman, Gosman plays in the realm or
- 17:12Speaker 4: Gosman's value is in the realm of the Brewers. A
- 17:16Speaker 4: guy who still is racking up strikeouts, he's gotten hurt
- 17:21Speaker 4: a little bit by you know, some things that I
- 17:25Speaker 4: think are out of his out of his normal pitching,
- 17:29Speaker 4: and I think he's going to get back to it
- 17:31Speaker 4: with the next team that he's with. And I think
- 17:33Speaker 4: the Brewers feel like that's that's the next best available
- 17:37Speaker 4: starter that's in our realm, because they probably won't make
- 17:41Speaker 4: the push for Schooble like they think they should.
- 17:46Speaker 1: Do. You think the Brewers will push for Schooble like
- 17:48Speaker 1: they should.
- 17:49Speaker 3: I think any team should push for school Ble like
- 17:51Speaker 3: they should.
- 17:52Speaker 5: If they're in it. I think the Brewers, Cubs, Yankees,
- 17:58Speaker 5: I mean, Dodgers. There's tons of teams that can easily
- 18:01Speaker 5: push to get him. It's the right package that they need,
- 18:04Speaker 5: and I honestly I'm ecstatic that, yeah, more than none,
- 18:09Speaker 5: that he's going to get traded because I want him
- 18:11Speaker 5: to go to a team and see if he could
- 18:13Speaker 5: push that team over the brink. I'm hoping it's not
- 18:16Speaker 5: the Dodgers, so we can have more excitement going on
- 18:18Speaker 5: here and some more competition. But you never ever know
- 18:22Speaker 5: what's going to happen. But yes, I'm excited to see
- 18:25Speaker 5: where school is going to go.
- 18:27Speaker 1: Let's do one more with Toronto Dalton var Show. I
- 18:33Speaker 1: know it hasn't been as strong of his season offensively.
- 18:36Speaker 1: Last year he was among the best in at bat
- 18:39Speaker 1: per home run ratio. He was seventy something games because
- 18:42Speaker 1: he was hurt after year, and he hit I think
- 18:45Speaker 1: twenty something homers. I mean he was powerful when he
- 18:48Speaker 1: was playing this year, not as much there, but he's
- 18:51Speaker 1: an elite outfielder and he can get hot. So possible
- 18:55Speaker 1: trade destinations on the list here where the Rangers the
- 18:58Speaker 1: Phillies are basically on every list of these days, the Rays,
- 19:01Speaker 1: the Guardians, and the Astros.
- 19:04Speaker 2: What are you thinking?
- 19:06Speaker 3: You think about the Tampa Bay Rays.
- 19:08Speaker 5: They'll always get pictures that are okay and then they
- 19:10Speaker 5: turn them as superstars. I feel like he can be
- 19:12Speaker 5: a beautiful fit for the Tampa Bay Rays.
- 19:14Speaker 3: Man.
- 19:14Speaker 5: He seems like one of those players that can fit
- 19:18Speaker 5: into the mold of the Rays easy as possible. I
- 19:22Speaker 5: would love to see him go there. This race team
- 19:24Speaker 5: is really good, and I really think that he would
- 19:27Speaker 5: fit into that organization really well. Stop looking at me, Krat.
- 19:35Speaker 4: He's going to the Astros. Look at the Astros production
- 19:40Speaker 4: and say, are they willing to give up on the
- 19:45Speaker 4: defense that they're getting. It's one of the best. I
- 19:47Speaker 4: think it's one of the best defensive outfields in the game.
- 19:50Speaker 4: And they're gonna be like, Okay, we know we're gonna
- 19:53Speaker 4: stay in this lane. I think we're gonna stay there,
- 19:56Speaker 4: and I think we're going to I think they're gonna
- 19:59Speaker 4: have a lot of conversation about Gosman and Bieber, the
- 20:01Speaker 4: Astros themselves, and then it will end up landing on
- 20:04Speaker 4: Dalton Bar Show.
- 20:08Speaker 3: Not bad I don't mind that.
- 20:12Speaker 1: Let's get to a reliever, Luke Weaver. Possible trade destinations
- 20:18Speaker 1: on this list they put the percentage chance for this
- 20:23Speaker 1: is funny to me. The Yankees high up raised Phillies,
- 20:27Speaker 1: Astros and Red Sox.
- 20:28Speaker 3: Wouldn't that be something, huh?
- 20:30Speaker 1: Bring them back and forth in New York.
- 20:33Speaker 3: He wouldn't have to move, Nope, wouldn't have to move.
- 20:36Speaker 3: Another race fit.
- 20:38Speaker 1: I actually think it's a really good race fit. You
- 20:41Speaker 1: know why. So Luke Weaver can go multiple innings like
- 20:46Speaker 1: he can eat innings in the bullpen for you at
- 20:49Speaker 1: in a high leverage scenario, really good bounce back eye.
- 20:51Speaker 1: Right next day you see him pitch as well. Like
- 20:54Speaker 1: It's it's tougher to find that these days. And for
- 20:57Speaker 1: Tampa Bay. The concern that I think things a little
- 21:00Speaker 1: bit underrated with this team right now is the rotation.
- 21:03Speaker 1: Shane McClanahan left the game what yesterday. I think he's
- 21:06Speaker 1: okay with the back and he's dealt with a lot
- 21:08Speaker 1: the last couple of years. Du Rasmusen has head an
- 21:12Speaker 1: injury checkered past. Nick Martinez is kind of more of
- 21:16Speaker 1: the rock in the rotation. Even Griffin Jacks Krats is great,
- 21:19Speaker 1: but he's a converted reliever. A lot of the guys
- 21:22Speaker 1: I'm listing right now might need to ease their way
- 21:26Speaker 1: into October and not get the heavy workload down the
- 21:29Speaker 1: stretch so that they're at their prime come playoff season.
- 21:33Speaker 1: Get some veterans in your bullpen to help for a
- 21:36Speaker 1: race team that certainly knows how to rely on their
- 21:38Speaker 1: bullpen a little bit more down the stretch if need be,
- 21:40Speaker 1: so that their starters are firing from all cylinders.
- 21:44Speaker 4: So you're saying you think Luke Weaver to.
- 21:49Speaker 1: The Rays, I'm saying, if I'm Tampa Bay, I need
- 21:54Speaker 1: to get some veteran arms, bullpen and starting rotation. I
- 21:57Speaker 1: know that they're going to try and pick up a bat,
- 21:59Speaker 1: but I just think it's a team that is going
- 22:01Speaker 1: to look to pick up some innings more so than
- 22:04Speaker 1: they're being pegged right now. Right What's you know how
- 22:07Speaker 1: we label every team right guardians need outfield that the
- 22:11Speaker 1: Phillies in and outfield bat, right handed hitter, Red Sox
- 22:14Speaker 1: now again looking for a right handed infielder for me
- 22:17Speaker 1: with the rais what would be the first thing you say, like, hey,
- 22:19Speaker 1: it's top heavy, there's there's Yandi, and there's Ronda, and
- 22:22Speaker 1: there's Junior. Like, we need to give those guys a
- 22:26Speaker 1: little bit of help in the second half of the lineup.
- 22:27Speaker 3: There.
- 22:28Speaker 1: For me, I'm like, wait, hold up, I just need
- 22:30Speaker 1: to make sure that this rotation is going to be
- 22:33Speaker 1: in the right place for October. We're going to supplement
- 22:35Speaker 1: it with rotation help and with veteran relievers.
- 22:39Speaker 3: No, I don't.
- 22:41Speaker 4: I don't agree with the weaver for one reason, he's
- 22:45Speaker 4: got eleven million dollars left on his contract next year,
- 22:49Speaker 4: eleven million. More like they didn't bring back Pete Fairbanks,
- 22:53Speaker 4: and I think his number was eleven million. I think
- 22:58Speaker 4: there is a world where I think, yes, they do
- 23:01Speaker 4: want some innings. I think they find those innings in
- 23:06Speaker 4: different guys that they're going to say, you know what,
- 23:09Speaker 4: We'll bring in a starter who can throw four for us,
- 23:12Speaker 4: who can throw five for us, possibly in the regular season.
- 23:16Speaker 4: To me, their biggest their biggest thing is probably five
- 23:20Speaker 4: through nine in the batting order. Where are they going
- 23:24Speaker 4: to get any kind of production? And I don't know
- 23:28Speaker 4: what that looks like. I do love what Todd said
- 23:31Speaker 4: about Dalton varshow he's been in the division. You know
- 23:34Speaker 4: he can get those. He can be that stick. He
- 23:37Speaker 4: doesn't necessarily need to be the leadoff guy, but he
- 23:40Speaker 4: runs the base as well, which is something that the
- 23:42Speaker 4: team likes. I just don't see that eleven minute if
- 23:45Speaker 4: this was Luke Weavers last year of his contract, one
- 23:47Speaker 4: hundred percent yes, But again, the Rays get rid of
- 23:51Speaker 4: dudes like this, so I don't see him taking on
- 23:53Speaker 4: eleven million for next year.
- 23:56Speaker 1: That's fair on the money side. Let's keep moving. This
- 23:59Speaker 1: is a crap's special right here. We picked this one
- 24:01Speaker 1: out on purpose. This is, in my mind, someone who
- 24:04Speaker 1: is not necessarily going to get moved. It's a team
- 24:07Speaker 1: that is among the most bubblicious right now, the Baltimore Orioles,
- 24:12Speaker 1: because there's part of them that's like, hey, this really
- 24:15Speaker 1: hasn't worked out the way we want it to, but
- 24:17Speaker 1: there's front office heat and there's a chance they.
- 24:20Speaker 3: Go on a little bit run.
- 24:20Speaker 1: They've definitely played better in the last month or so
- 24:23Speaker 1: than they did at the start of the season. You
- 24:26Speaker 1: know who I'm talking about, Kratz. He was on the
- 24:28Speaker 1: high percentage chance to get traded list here from Out
- 24:31Speaker 1: of the Park twenty twenty seven. Taylor Ward.
- 24:36Speaker 4: I mean I think this is a slam dunk. There's
- 24:38Speaker 4: a slam dunk. I don't think Taylor Ward runs the
- 24:40Speaker 4: bases very well. I don't think he plays defense very well.
- 24:42Speaker 4: But I think he has twenty homers for the last
- 24:46Speaker 4: two months of the season. I think he goes to.
- 24:50Speaker 4: I think he goes to. He's just for whatever reason,
- 24:54Speaker 4: because I don't think Anaheim is the easiest place to
- 24:56Speaker 4: hit dingers out of, unless you're a righty that goes
- 24:59Speaker 4: apo shorter, lower fence they have there. But he had
- 25:03Speaker 4: thirty nine pumps last year. I see this as slam dunk.
- 25:07Speaker 4: If you're talking about my one five star trade five
- 25:11Speaker 4: star lock, we're going Philadelphia Phillies. I just think that
- 25:15Speaker 4: right handed bat I think will enable them to say, okay,
- 25:21Speaker 4: we have Derek Hill still. You know, we could get
- 25:25Speaker 4: seven innings of offense out of Taylor Ward and Derek
- 25:28Speaker 4: Hill can come in and play defense, Brandon marsh can
- 25:31Speaker 4: slide around. He's struggling right now, he needs to pick
- 25:35Speaker 4: it up. But I think this is the Phillies move,
- 25:37Speaker 4: and I think in citizens Bank not being the major
- 25:41Speaker 4: piece of that that lineup, I think he pops a
- 25:44Speaker 4: few dingers a little bit better bat, a little bit
- 25:47Speaker 4: better zone discipline this year, and the Phillies need any
- 25:51Speaker 4: kind of zone discipline that they can find.
- 25:55Speaker 1: Do you like Cleveland on that list. I'm gonna play
- 25:57Speaker 1: the money game with me, like they won't pay for it.
- 26:00Speaker 5: I do.
- 26:00Speaker 3: No, No, I do like that.
- 26:04Speaker 4: I think place. I really do, because I think they're
- 26:06Speaker 4: they're able to deploy it out because athleticism is there
- 26:10Speaker 4: for for Cleveland.
- 26:12Speaker 5: Yeah, and they need a right handed bat too, and
- 26:14Speaker 5: that would move Kwan into center field, and he'd played
- 26:17Speaker 5: left field.
- 26:19Speaker 4: In my opinion, it's a big tough left field in Cleveland.
- 26:23Speaker 4: That's my issue. They love the athleticism, whether whether they
- 26:27Speaker 4: try to be athletic or the fact that they don't
- 26:29Speaker 4: pay enables their team to be continually athletic. I just
- 26:35Speaker 4: think there is I think I think that would be
- 26:39Speaker 4: their fear in that case, Like he's not like they're
- 26:42Speaker 4: not picking up Edwin and Carnassion from the right side,
- 26:45Speaker 4: you know, and say, ah, damn the the athleticism, We're
- 26:49Speaker 4: just going we're just going straight to the power. I
- 26:53Speaker 4: don't think he has that. I think it's possible, but
- 26:56Speaker 4: I don't know that that's that would be my only
- 26:59Speaker 4: fear that of the Guardians saying that we're not going
- 27:02Speaker 4: to pick them up.
- 27:03Speaker 1: Yeah, that looks like a good fit. I mean the
- 27:06Speaker 1: lineup is switch hitters and lefties for the most part.
- 27:10Speaker 1: With their a lineup, go get yourself a little righty
- 27:14Speaker 1: pop like this that everyone's looking for. Ramirez recently, back
- 27:18Speaker 1: on holl Martinez said a really good year for them
- 27:20Speaker 1: until he went down. He just got back. I think
- 27:24Speaker 1: this would help. I'd like to see Cleveland get one
- 27:27Speaker 1: bat there. But I'm with you, Krats. I mean, Philly's
- 27:29Speaker 1: definitely going to do something. This definitely screams Philly power.
- 27:34Speaker 1: All right, fun game. Thanks Out of the Park Baseball
- 27:37Speaker 1: for helping us out with some trade predictions. And they
- 27:40Speaker 1: did it based on a thousand simulations. It's awesome. I've
- 27:43Speaker 1: been playing it for a long time now, over decades.
- 27:47Speaker 1: Scanned the QR code on the screen to get OTP
- 27:49Speaker 1: twenty seven building customize your very own perfect team. Open
- 27:52Speaker 1: packs collect baseball cards from the biggest legends, play against
- 27:55Speaker 1: managers from all over the world. When it was COVID
- 27:58Speaker 1: and then shutdown season all that some coaching staff's playing
- 28:01Speaker 1: out of the Stay hot, Stay fresh. It's true, let's
- 28:16Speaker 1: slap last few minutes for trade deadline thoughts until we
- 28:20Speaker 1: appear on Monday and potentially over the weekend.
- 28:22Speaker 3: If that's what that's what I was gonna ask.
- 28:24Speaker 1: Yeah, we're gonna we might pop we might pop up.
- 28:27Speaker 1: Can you know Trek School is gonna get traded at
- 28:29Speaker 1: midnight on Saturday or Sunday, so we might appear.
- 28:33Speaker 5: No, So for me, like I was gonna ask him
- 28:36Speaker 5: along the Angels line, what'd you want? I did hear
- 28:39Speaker 5: some rumblings about Trout. I wanted to.
- 28:41Speaker 1: Ask, No, I don't think I think that's the line
- 28:44Speaker 1: for them. I mean, you'd love to see it, but
- 28:46Speaker 1: I don't. I don't think so Okay, No, I think.
- 28:50Speaker 5: If it happens, you guys are gonna say, wow, Todd,
- 28:52Speaker 5: you know your stuff.
- 28:53Speaker 1: Well, you know the man personally.
- 28:56Speaker 5: And I'm not saying I haven't talked to him in months.
- 28:58Speaker 5: I'm hearing some rumblings about where something might go. So
- 29:03Speaker 5: really I'm hoping it might happen.
- 29:06Speaker 4: Yo, Todd, Yo, what's Trout gonna do?
- 29:08Speaker 3: Yo?
- 29:08Speaker 4: Is he coming back to the East Coast? And I'd
- 29:10Speaker 4: love to see it? Watching Mike, it's too late.
- 29:15Speaker 5: And listen I could be way off. I could be
- 29:17Speaker 5: way off, but I would love to see him traded,
- 29:20Speaker 5: is what I'm saying.
- 29:21Speaker 1: One day he might be, but I don't think it's yet.
- 29:24Speaker 1: That's my thought process here.
- 29:26Speaker 3: This game's been crazy, so we'll see it.
- 29:28Speaker 1: Has and this trade deadline season will be crazy. And
- 29:32Speaker 1: when we talk about hey, buyers or sellers or both,
- 29:36Speaker 1: I think that terminology is going to apply even to
- 29:38Speaker 1: the big teams here, right, Like can again reiterated how
- 29:42Speaker 1: a team like the Dodgers have Eric Lower and there
- 29:45Speaker 1: was a couple people in the chat that were like,
- 29:46Speaker 1: the Dodgers should keep Eric Lower. I'm like, yeah, ideally,
- 29:50Speaker 1: but sure if so many starters and eventually he might
- 29:53Speaker 1: get bumped out of that role. It's great to have
- 29:56Speaker 1: the depth, but then I guess you have to put
- 29:58Speaker 1: him in the bullpen. And even the bullpen gets pretty
- 30:00Speaker 1: crowded there for La Crafts. So when you look at
- 30:03Speaker 1: a team like that, you still want them to acquire prospss.
- 30:06Speaker 1: Guess what they've done really well? You know, remember how
- 30:08Speaker 1: we did this for a long time with the Raids,
- 30:10Speaker 1: Like if the Raids call about a trade, hang up.
- 30:13Speaker 1: The Dodgers have been swiping prospects in trades. It's actually
- 30:17Speaker 1: a very underrated thing over the past I don't know,
- 30:19Speaker 1: five to seven years.
- 30:20Speaker 3: You don't hear about it though, because of what they've
- 30:22Speaker 3: been getting.
- 30:23Speaker 1: But they've gotten a lot in trades from other teams
- 30:26Speaker 1: where you're like, wait, what, how did they the Dodgers
- 30:29Speaker 1: are buying. No, they also sell pieces and they still
- 30:31Speaker 1: pick up.
- 30:32Speaker 3: Some shit.
- 30:34Speaker 4: And they want and I think they'll be more advantageous
- 30:36Speaker 4: at this trade deadline in that realm because of the
- 30:40Speaker 4: whole Anthony Bonda, Like they basically just had to give
- 30:45Speaker 4: him away because they ran out of spots for him
- 30:48Speaker 4: come the end of spring training this year.
- 30:50Speaker 3: Like they liked him.
- 30:52Speaker 4: They I talked to somebody with the Dodgers and they
- 30:54Speaker 4: were like, we don't want to get rid of them,
- 30:55Speaker 4: but they had they only have forty spots, and so
- 30:59Speaker 4: I think I would be surprised if they don't make
- 31:03Speaker 4: some roster move shifts saw that stuff and not add
- 31:07Speaker 4: this massive, massive piece.
- 31:10Speaker 1: I've got one more trivia question I want to finish
- 31:13Speaker 1: the show with. I was just looking around at teams
- 31:17Speaker 1: and who could be traded and all of that, right,
- 31:19Speaker 1: So I'm gonna focus on a specific statistic, but it's
- 31:22Speaker 1: a very well known stat slugging percentage. Do you guys
- 31:26Speaker 1: want to take any kind of guess on what the
- 31:29Speaker 1: top five looks like right now in the sport for
- 31:32Speaker 1: slugging percentage?
- 31:34Speaker 4: You're not out.
- 31:36Speaker 1: He is number one by far at six point forty
- 31:40Speaker 1: forver Twover's not in there.
- 31:43Speaker 3: A guy that pregnant.
- 31:44Speaker 2: He is in there, bed.
- 31:46Speaker 1: Under Goodman seventh. Ben Rice is two. Okay, now I'm
- 31:50Speaker 1: gonna stop you guys for a second because you did
- 31:51Speaker 1: what I needed you to do. Three four and five
- 31:54Speaker 1: all play for the same team, and some of them
- 31:58Speaker 1: have popped up in trade rumors. Three four and five
- 32:02Speaker 1: all with the same team in slugging percentage, orioles, tell
- 32:09Speaker 1: me if you want it, tell me if you want it,
- 32:14Speaker 1: I so on it.
- 32:17Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean we'll run at top.
- 32:19Speaker 1: Exactly to Washington Nationals.
- 32:22Speaker 3: Oh wow.
- 32:24Speaker 1: James Woods five C. J Abrams is four third in
- 32:28Speaker 1: baseball right now in slugging percentage. He was a single
- 32:31Speaker 1: shy of the cycle last night. Luis has a five
- 32:36Speaker 1: to sixty six slugging clip and could be dealt over
- 32:40Speaker 1: the next few days.
- 32:40Speaker 3: Wow. Interesting, good for him.
- 32:42Speaker 1: He has founded five sixty six three quarters of the
- 32:47Speaker 1: way through the season almost That's awesome. Yeah, that was
- 32:51Speaker 1: the one where I knew it was he was moving Krats,
- 32:54Speaker 1: But damn he's moving and that's a guy where I
- 32:58Speaker 1: mean Kratz. If Thents and Phillies did make a deal,
- 33:02Speaker 1: Louis Garcia could play first. Bryce Harper brought his outfield
- 33:05Speaker 1: glove the other day, head over to the outfit. Do
- 33:08Speaker 1: you want that, righty?
- 33:09Speaker 3: Pop?
- 33:10Speaker 1: I mean, there's a lot of teams that would love
- 33:11Speaker 1: them some Louis Garcia right now, and they would they
- 33:13Speaker 1: would do things that they got to do to put
- 33:16Speaker 1: him over at first.
- 33:17Speaker 4: He bets left he bets left handed, but I mean
- 33:21Speaker 4: that would be that would be a standard, That will
- 33:23Speaker 4: be a standard. Phillies pick up another dude that has
- 33:25Speaker 4: zero on base percentage, but hey, you know what pop is?
- 33:29Speaker 5: Pop?
- 33:30Speaker 4: I mean, this dude has Mega Chase zero walk. It
- 33:35Speaker 4: is impressive, but he's.
- 33:37Speaker 1: Killing Yeah, lefty Pop, my bad? But do you do
- 33:41Speaker 1: you buy into someone like that continuing that with another
- 33:43Speaker 1: team if he gets dealt?
- 33:46Speaker 4: Yes, why not?
- 33:47Speaker 3: Why not?
- 33:47Speaker 4: I mean that's why the Mets, that's why the Red
- 33:50Speaker 4: Sox overpaid for Curtis Mead Like they're buying what is
- 33:55Speaker 4: happening in the hitting department in Washington, and Washington needs
- 33:58Speaker 4: to sell from that plethora.
- 34:02Speaker 1: While Kratz is doing cratz hats. With our final thirty seconds,
- 34:05Speaker 1: here a reminder to everyone. We're on all day long
- 34:08Speaker 1: on Monday, starting at one o'clock Eastern through the end
- 34:10Speaker 1: of the trade deadline, and we could pop up this
- 34:12Speaker 1: weekend if something big happens. Why the padres.
- 34:16Speaker 4: Because I think they're gonna do something. Everyone's like, everybody,
- 34:19Speaker 4: look at Mason Miller over here. I think they're gonna
- 34:22Speaker 4: do something because they realize the last two years their
