  SPEAKER_00: Let me ask you one question The North Florida sport Florida sport North Florida North Florida sporting networks The North Florida sporting networks everyone that I work what football That's right just another football Monday back again Whee Oh man first of many this football season oh how's it feel we gotta win it feels like a loss even though you won you know one of those kind of games but I would have preferred it not be televised what what are your takeaways initially first thing these guys mine's was the lines of scrimmage on both sides I didn't I didn't see enough pressure on the defensive line and I didn't see enough just I didn't see them push or push them around until late in the game and they they didn't oh man that's not what you want to see because they're gonna face a lot better teams yeah sure and yeah I went from seven and five to three and nine if you get if you if you get an upset I don't know how they're gonna win an ACC game I don't either I mean I didn't I you know they managed to win one in 24 well let's there are there were some bright spots singleton looked good I mean Chroma had some good plays there the problem was you didn't see what the blocking that you thought you would get against this team you thought okay this is where you can at least get some points dominate yeah but there's not gonna be much domination going on no there's not both the lines of scrimmage look very very not great secondary didn't look that great secondary looks awful third down defense was pretty much wide open everything that's just hey just go run over the middle of the field to the to the third to the first down marker because they'll play off you because Tony White that's just what he does there's not a lot I do like the running backs but right but that and I like I like some I did like some of the plays to Danzi in the beginning that once that one throw sure but as far as the quarterback no I I'm not sold on him he's he's a little bit hesitant as I would say he doesn't make the decision he needs to be more more aggressive when he when he runs and he needs to and he's obviously late with his decision making in the passing game hence the interception and hence a major a lot of the throws that were not on time there were and then I saw a few guys wide open that he didn't even he forced the ball to deuce a few times yeah it was bad man there there were very very few positive instances I mean you know yeah singleton he looked I mean he looked good cool he's not gonna be able to win you games on his own look good sure if you can't block him screen him right and uh this is this is something that I think that they're going to have to mix up and move the pocket uh continue to pound the rock and try to control the control the ball and keep that defense off the field yeah that's what I mean the one thing I would say is you need to develop some a chance just hold on to the ball this is what this team needs to do you don't see and then hopefully break uh you get some big plays yeah um I don't know the the big yeah the biggest standout the thing that stood out the most to me is where the bulk of your money was invested on the roster none of it looked like it's money well spent the De Cedar twins did nothing Jabril Rawls was actually picked on you know Quindarius Jones and Nehemiah Chandler looked better you know Kevin Wynne still a non factor croma looked okay I mean you know he he runs hard he runs tough he had the big run on the on the yeah um you know Deuce I mean he he's easily neutralized if your quarterback's not gonna spread the ball around yeah I thought you weren't able to get the ball to other receivers he didn't he just stared down Deuce a few times team reminds me a lot of the 2024 team after DJ got hurt yikes yeah no that no no that it that there's a lot of that if from this game well then you gotta I honestly you're on watch now Daniels I need to see something and if he if it's in yeah I if he doesn't win this game why I mean I know you paid him yeah you paid him but why why why keep it going I mean there's a reason why he's here is he's not good third team right I that's that and it's why Malachi Marshall came from a JUCO one that at least one something yeah you know there's something that hasn't been seen yet there it's not that he's better maybe but it's just we haven't seen it so right I mean if he's got a little bit more of a live arm than the other two guys then why not there wasn't nothing to get ex I mean this is you were thinking his size would help but he's a little hesitant running he's a little hesitant throwing yeah he needs to have a big upgrade in the next I mean honestly man the the with the disappointment that was the offensive line performance like it doesn't really matter.

  SPEAKER_00: That's what you saw in 24 like well you have to go to a you have to change the play calls and maybe change the guy then if you need a guy that can elude I don't know that they have a guy that can elude that it's gonna be another another long season really bad interception I did not like that one yeah you gotta just throw that one away um I mean that you know good God man so there's nothing that you liked no very little you know I like that singleton looks quick and you know I I mean he looks like he's gonna be able to to help you in three different areas um I Roma had 115 yards yeah and he again averaged eight over eight yards of carry right and that's being able to keep him fresh that is you're gonna gonna be your strength big part of that is him you know his size and his physicality but like you said when you get up against other defenses it's not gonna you know we'll see though you have breakaway speed though singleton and chroma showed it that might be your best bet is just pound the rock and just keep those guys fresh and maybe break one right and try to have to do a lot better run blocking well nobody's gonna everyone's gonna bring it up to the line and and stuff out the run he's gotta make some throws down the field on time yeah that's you got to give him time you gotta give him time but then you gotta move the pocket it just looked bad man everything about it um the to have one guy on New Mexico State's defensive line that was just repeatedly abusing the O-line like that's man that's a bad sign he might be a good football player but come on it's one guy and it's New Mexico State so anyway I think I might about their New Mexico State their quarterback 26 of 42 right I mean 372 yards a lot of a lot of over the a lot of small intermediate passes yeah did have two touchdowns had a bad interception should have should have could have very easily had two interceptions and one touchdown yeah he had threw one right to the defensive lineman they got to catch that right but but my whole thing man like even if that happens and the the score is 41 to 10 instead of 34 to 17 like nothing changes.

  SPEAKER_00: No well in that same regard is maybe you can get some sort of plays and play better and there's a lot of pressure maybe in the first game and a lot of improvement in the second game and maybe there's a little bit of I don't know yeah I mean what you hope is that the offensive line is is more about just getting used to playing with each other and maybe cleaning some things up.

  SPEAKER_00: Right and they're playing 10 yards off the line of scrimmage they have to be at minimum some like the the safety like what and then the one time you play man your your uh your high priced corner CB1 just gets absolutely cooked in man coverage for the touchdown and like that that again you know if you're gonna pay kids pay kids that like actually want to go out there and prove something it can't be a coincidence that all the guys that that held out or tried to go test the the transfer market and managed to find their way back here all played like shit well that's just one game that's what I'm afraid of yeah we got 11 more of these damn things to go one game it is a win and you know you could have done worse you could have lost yeah you could have lost you could have lost which would have been worse because you know what I he's not going anywhere that's what I mean there was a game that 2024 loses probably yeah they they gotta look at it you just gotta fight man and and this isn't a good team because they have to earn it and I picked seven I picked an optimist it's six and a half you pick five and seven I pick seven and five both those look very dude I'd unlikely right I I I don't think I would pick five and seven if we did it again right now.

  SPEAKER_00: No I'd I'd hammer three and nine just because two and ten brings back too many points you're about to find out it is about to be known and it'll be a joke a running joke if he's not after this stretch if we don't do something if the Nobles don't win at least one you can see the the AD get asked to move on you got nine days before the next game this is going to be SMU's first game so you're hoping that that defense can somehow stop him.

  SPEAKER_00: I mean then nobody it wasn't it wasn't just the offensive line nobody was blocking anybody yeah there wasn't really good blocking now there was there wasn't really any many many plays Mike Norvell back at the play as the play caller you could kinda there's nothing special I mean I've you figured it would be vanilla because it's game one against New Mexico State you know but again you'd think that they would have better passing well I hoped you have I mean that's one thing I thought but there's not a game changer here on this on on this team.

  SPEAKER_00: These are things that a guy like Lopez we don't know and that's part of the reason I think you combination of the O-line and then the quarterback not trusting it yeah maybe that's it but maybe sometimes you just gotta still look and but am I am I crazy here that the best defensive player on the field in that game was number eight for New Mexico State their defensive lineman.

  SPEAKER_01: Well you had Gus Yeah and a quarterback that had played in his system before yeah that was what that had you that got you that that one game that's it and a better roster let's be honest you had one defensive lineman that could take up three blocks you don't have that this year all right yeah it's gonna be a long year real long year but it's only two and a half hoops is right around the corner the spread dude it jump on that early pound it risk your entire fortune we need the money buy him out because that's the only way you're gonna get the money betting against Florida State.
