Latest / Kenny Wallace Media / "Pitbull" Talks Daytona 500!
Transcript
- 0:00Well, first of all, we can start out by saying it's good to be
- 0:03here and even if it's raining, don't matter.
- 0:05We're going to bring the right the light, the light regardless.
- 0:08So thank you for having me. I appreciate it.
- 0:10It's always an honor and a blessing to be out here and I'm
- 0:12always excited to be a part of the NASCAR and track house
- 0:15family. So one way or another, we're
- 0:16going to make the best of it. No problems, just solutions.
- 0:19That's it. You want to talk a little bit
- 0:21about your new music? New music?
- 0:22That's right. You did tell me about that.
- 0:24I forgot. My bad as far as that.
- 0:27With with the the new album, that's AP actually it's only 7
- 0:31records. It's called a track house, track
- 0:33house Daytona 500. What I'm looking to do every
- 0:35year is put out track house albums with NASCAR, whether it
- 0:38be around the Homestead race, this one, be in Daytona 500,
- 0:42maybe Talladega next year, things of that nature just be
- 0:44putting them out. And the reason that I really
- 0:46wanted to get this one out is because a dear friend of mine
- 0:49who's giving me amazing advice, a mentor to me and someone that
- 0:53had a lot of fun with was Jimmy Buffett and he rest in paradise.
- 0:57And we have a song on there called Thank God and Jimmy
- 1:00Buffett. So I'll tell you all that story
- 1:02another day. But either or I wanted to get it
- 1:05out and and celebrate him, his life and everything that he
- 1:08meant to the world and especially to me.
- 1:11Someone that again, just gave me great, great advice and and
- 1:15lived. He lived life.
- 1:17Life didn't live him, you know. And I admire that about him.
- 1:20And I also got a record with Dolly Parton on there, which is
- 1:23an honor. And when I got on the phone with
- 1:26with Dolly Parton it was funny because she said it's is this is
- 1:30this my future boyfriend that stood me up on my first phone
- 1:32call. I said this the kind of woman I
- 1:35want to make a record with definitely.
- 1:36So that's a blessing. I got a record with there with
- 1:40Tim McGraw as well. That's an honor.
- 1:43So and now Rogers with good times.
- 1:46So it's something fun for the fans, something fun for the
- 1:50sport, and more than anything, something fun for the world and
- 1:53a way to bring them in to the sport as well.
- 1:55So one time for NASCAR, one time for track house, and feels good
- 2:00to be in Daytona 500. I'm going to tell you why,
- 2:02because we were in Kansas City last night.
- 2:03God bless Kansas City, but it was cold in the mother you
- 2:08already know. All right, we're going to open
- 2:12it up to questions for Pitbull. We will start right over here on
- 2:16the far right with Cedric. I'm going to get microphone up
- 2:19to. You say it is you.
- 2:21Right. Behind you.
- 2:23Oh, in my back. Yeah.
- 2:24Cedric Hollywood, representing Old School One O 1, formerly 99
- 2:28jams. And yeah, we got history.
- 2:31So a lot of history. But I want to ask you a really
- 2:33important question. Stephanie stole my Thunder
- 2:35because I want to talk about your music.
- 2:38So let me see if I can find a question that's relevant to what
- 2:42I wanted to say. You got it.
- 2:43How? Did How?
- 2:44Did you get Tim McGraw to agree to be on this EP?
- 2:50That's a good question. Tim is somebody that I admire
- 2:53for many, many years and not only obviously has amazing
- 2:56music, but for him as a person. And and obviously you've seen
- 3:01the transformation of Tim McGraw within the last decade, I would
- 3:04say. And I was there to watch it when
- 3:06it first started and we had that conversation and I thought that
- 3:09there was amazing when when someone immersed themselves on
- 3:11what their new journey is going to be now as he transformed as a
- 3:16human being, literally. And we had a conversation about
- 3:18the Bahamas and they had an island down in the Bahamas.
- 3:21And one of the Bahamian folks told me, yeah, you know, he used
- 3:23to party back their mind in the in a tent.
- 3:27So when I ran into him, I say, hey man, congratulations on the
- 3:31House on the island. I heard you.
- 3:32I had a lot of fun on the tent. He said, man, if I knew that
- 3:35house was going to cost me, I won't even say the number.
- 3:38When it was cost me, man, I would have stayed partying in
- 3:41that tent. So that's how we really like,
- 3:44broke the ice together, had a lot of because we love the
- 3:46Bahamas. And then from there, I ran him
- 3:49at a concert and I said, man, it'd be an honor to be able to
- 3:51remake this record. I said knock yourself out.
- 3:53Matter of fact, you want to jump on stage right now and do it.
- 3:56So he pulled my card. I ain't jump on stage.
- 3:58I wasn't ready for that opportunity.
- 4:00But making records with people that you really create a bond
- 4:03with and like, you know, we used to say in Miami, you know, real,
- 4:07recognize real. And when people work that hard
- 4:10to get to that level, y'all admire each other's struggle,
- 4:14hustle, sacrifice and grind. And that is why it's an honor to
- 4:18dual record with Tim McGraw and and how we got there in the 1st
- 4:22place. Yes Sir, I like it.
- 4:24I love it. Going to go up here in the front
- 4:27to Bruce. Three years ago you were a team
- 4:31here that wasn't, you know, didn't have a charter, didn't
- 4:34have any guarantees that you were going to even be in the
- 4:36races. Now you're like one of the mega
- 4:38teams of the series, and also this year you're taking on Moto
- 4:42GP. So when you think of how far
- 4:45track house has come in those three years, how do you describe
- 4:48that? No, I just said it, You know,
- 4:53Real. Recognize Real when we got with
- 4:54the team, with Todd, Justin, Daniel.
- 4:57Now you know, you have Ross, you have Zane, you have the
- 4:59motorsport at this point, underdogs.
- 5:05One thing we love is a challenge.
- 5:07We love when people tell us no, don't, won't, never will happen.
- 5:12Crazy, stupid, impossible. Those are words that fuel us.
- 5:16And when you take those words and you flip them, let's say
- 5:18can't and the word can't, just can and the word don't, just do
- 5:20and the word won't, just one. And the word impossible is
- 5:23possible. And if you really put it
- 5:25together and just put a little apostrophe between I am
- 5:27impossible is I'm possible, right.
- 5:31So when you bring that mentality to a whole sport who is hungry
- 5:35to feed the world and teach different communities, different
- 5:38cultures, that hey, there's opportunities here, then you're
- 5:42in the ultimate world of do good and be well.
- 5:45So for track house, to be underdogs, that was a beautiful
- 5:49thing in the beginning. But we'll forever be underdogs
- 5:52and that's why we'll fight the way that we fight and we'll
- 5:54continue to build the way that we build and continue to inspire
- 5:58and motivate others out there. Because coming from, you know my
- 6:01community, our culture and most of the world, to be honest with
- 6:04you, if there's one thing the world loves is underdogs and
- 6:07it's it's a blessing to be where we're at.
- 6:09But it's just the beginning. So thank you track house for the
- 6:12opportunity and it and for me, it's an honor to be able to
- 6:15represent track house, the organization and all of NASCAR
- 6:18around the world the way that we do.
- 6:21My pleasure. We're.
- 6:22Going to go to Kenneth and then we're going to wrap up with
- 6:24Justin before we have a special presentation.
- 6:28Ken, one of capital news at FIU Pitbull, Of course I I asked
- 6:32this to over here. Thank you.
- 6:33Man, there you. Go as this to to DJ Khaled and
- 6:37as the Miami native of course you you three, I mean you DJ
- 6:40Khaled and Dwayne, the Rock Johnson all sort of had that
- 6:43connection to South Florida right now.
- 6:44I remember you and Cedric talking at Homestead last year,
- 6:47that connection and and just talk about being back at in your
- 6:49home state in your home city and home racetrack in a way.
- 6:53What's that like to bring that Miami representation, bring that
- 6:56flair, bring that that vibrant Ness of Miami to a track like
- 7:01Daytona, to a race like the 500? Look, let me tell you, to be a
- 7:04Miami boy is is to be an underdog.
- 7:07Like I said before, you always got a chip on your shoulder.
- 7:09Because no matter how hard you put in that work, no matter what
- 7:12level you get to, they always want how somehow, some way
- 7:16discard all of that and then try to knock it down.
- 7:21So if you look at The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, look what he's
- 7:25done with his career. Obviously he was over at the U&M
- 7:27and then if you see his journey on what it was to be go go from
- 7:31a football player to transform to a wrestler.
- 7:32Wrestler transformed to an actor and now becoming an owner and
- 7:37whether it be his tequila, whether it be in in football at
- 7:41this point as well, that's that underdog mentality.
- 7:44Khaled, he was a DJ, underground DJ and that's how we all grew
- 7:50up. So when even when you look at
- 7:51Uncle Luke, Luther Cameron from 2 Live Crew, he was an
- 7:53underground DJ. That's why me and said have so
- 7:55much history because it's it's underdogs helping underdogs
- 8:00always. And when when nobody believed in
- 8:02us, it's only certain people that go watch out for that one.
- 8:05I'm trying to tell you it's like betting on the long run and
- 8:08therefore it's we have a saying in Spanish, which is, I got to
- 8:12say in Spanish in order to get it in English.
- 8:13Hold on, Paso coto E Talarga, short steps, long vision.
- 8:17That's what that's what the Rock is about.
- 8:19That's what DJ Khaled is about. That's what I'm about.
- 8:22That's what track house about and at this point that's what
- 8:24NASCAR is about and the reason that and kind of jumping train
- 8:28tracks at this point. But with NASCAR, one of the main
- 8:31reasons that I got involved because for me it's one of the
- 8:33ultimate American stories of a negative to a positive.
- 8:37I'm a negative to a positive. You know rock is a negative to a
- 8:40positive. Cat is a negative to a positive
- 8:42and for us to be able to be here and and it could be rained out,
- 8:47but we still going to make history.
- 8:49We still one way or another going to get the word out and
- 8:51create awareness for Daytona 500.
- 8:53Whether the race happens today or tomorrow, it's history in the
- 8:56making. Look at that.
- 8:57Who would have ever thought the rock?
- 8:58Khaled and Pitt at Daytona 500. Yeah, if you think it's a game,
- 9:04play with it. You wrap up with Justin.
- 9:09Justin Schuler kicking the tires Bruce kind of asked this
- 9:11question, but also kind of differently.
- 9:13What have you learned over the last three years working with
- 9:15Track House? And for the next three years,
- 9:17what would be your goals as a team owner to see Ross and and
- 9:20Daniel achieve? Look, obviously there's there's
- 9:23so many goals to be able to achieve, but I feel like we've
- 9:25already achieved and made history to this point, right?
- 9:29But it's just the beginning, always.
- 9:30That's the that's the mentality you, you continue to fight as
- 9:33that underdog. Like I said before, what have I
- 9:35learned from Track House? Track House is one of the most
- 9:37phenomenal organization. I don't say this to blow smoke
- 9:39up anybody's ass. This is the truth.
- 9:42Track House is one of the most phenomenal organizations that
- 9:45I've been involved with. Partners, solid, punctual,
- 9:48accountable, reliable, everything that you look for in
- 9:51a team. And that's why I feel that we
- 9:52are where we're at. What what I've learned from them
- 9:57is to be able to apply how I watch, how they move, how they,
- 10:01how they I study, analyze how they deal with each other, and
- 10:06then I apply it to our team as well.
- 10:08And what we got going on and that to me is what a partnership
- 10:12is all about is how do we make each other better?
- 10:14How do we learn from each other. I don't ever want to be in a
- 10:17room with a bunch of know. It alls in no way, shape or
- 10:19form. I want to be in mind you, like
- 10:20they say, if you're the smartest one in the room, you're in the
- 10:23wrong room. And the biggest room in the
- 10:27world, by the way, is room for improvement.
- 10:30So when you see a team that's constantly just trying to
- 10:32improve, trying to challenge themselves, trying to take it to
- 10:36the next level, that's what it's all about.
- 10:38And that to me it's it's an honor to be around.
- 10:41It's an honor to be a part of it, but as a fan first, I'm a
- 10:44fan first of anything that I do. When it comes to music, I'm a
- 10:46fan first. When I'm when it comes to NASCAR
- 10:50track house, I'm a fan first. I love to learn and that to me
- 10:53is what makes it exciting all the time, just being around it.
- 10:59Awesome. Well, thank you Pitbull, We're
- 11:01going to. Bring up pleasure.
- 11:02Thank you. We're.
- 11:02Going to bring up our track President Frank Kelleher for a
- 11:04special presentation for you. Pitbull, Frank.
- 11:06Let's. Do.
- 11:07It I'm going to speak for everyone here, How about you
- 11:09all? But some pretty motivational and
- 11:12powerful words. I think everyone in this room
- 11:15can feel your energy and for sure feel your passion, and we

- 11:22family and the entire staff of Daytona National Speedway, we

- 11:33So this is a one of one custom built leather jacket for you
- 11:38with Daytona 500 logo on it and I want to, I want to show you
- 11:42something I think is the best part of it.
- 11:46Get a peek on the inside here. Dolly.
- 11:54That's right. Let's go.
- 11:55So that's. Right Pitbull.
- 11:57Put this on. This is for you.

- 13:02team on the track tomorrow and thank you again for all.
- 13:06Your every year I have a a goal that I put out there for
- 13:09everybody. So 2024 is 2020 flow, all right?
- 13:12That's what 2024 is, right. All right, cool, we got that
- 13:152025, since we're talking about it just came to my mind. 2025 is
