- 0:28Speaker 1: The place we can afford things.
- 0:31Speaker 2: All right. It's the end of September, folks. Tomorrow's October 1st.
- 0:35Speaker 2: It's time to break out the Halloween stories.
- 0:37Speaker 1: It's full-on Halloween.
- 0:39Speaker 2: I mean, let's talk about it. Yes. You have a
- 0:40Speaker 2: Halloween story right now. And not the movie Halloween, although
- 0:43Speaker 2: I just played that theme. Let me play it again.
- 0:45Speaker 2: This is perfect. It is. What do you got, Christine?
- 0:49Speaker 1: Well, these are our favorite destinations for Halloween. All right.
- 0:53Speaker 1: So we're talking, you got to have some, you got
- 0:55Speaker 1: to put me and Chanel to go to some of
- 0:56Speaker 1: these places, okay?
- 0:57Speaker 2: You've already done one of these trips this year.
- 0:59Speaker 1: I've done a couple. I missed out on one. One
- 1:01Speaker 1: of the top places, and this was where I planned
- 1:03Speaker 1: to go in August, but we couldn't get it together, Edinburgh, Scotland.
- 1:07Speaker 2: And that's considered just creepy? Yeah.
- 1:09Speaker 1: You've got the medieval streets and old graveyards and ghost
- 1:13Speaker 1: walks and centuries of Scottish folklore. Built-in atmosphere. I so
- 1:17Speaker 1: wanted to go there. So hopefully Eric and I can
- 1:19Speaker 1: do that one day.
- 1:20Speaker 2: That takes some planning. Like you've got to plan next
- 1:22Speaker 2: year already.
- 1:23Speaker 1: We have to.
- 1:23Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 1:24Speaker 1: But we did get to one of the top places,
- 1:26Speaker 1: and it is attainable, kids. Salem, Massachusetts.
- 1:29Speaker 2: I've heard amazing things about it.
- 1:31Speaker 1: So fun.
- 1:32Speaker 2: Isn't it beautiful no matter what time of year you go?
- 1:34Speaker 2: But they really do it well for Halloween, right?
- 1:36Speaker 1: They do. It's just that they are a small town
- 1:38Speaker 1: and they get super, super crowded. So if you're going
- 1:40Speaker 1: to go, you have lots of company. Just keep it
- 1:42Speaker 1: in mind. But they know how to do Halloween. If
- 1:46Speaker 1: you're going to travel, again, Derry, North Ireland. City's massive
- 1:51Speaker 1: Halloween festival features parades, street performers, immersive events. They've got
- 1:55Speaker 1: some old traditions there. Transylvania.
- 1:58Speaker 2: Yeah. You can't go wrong with that name, can you? Yes.
- 2:01Speaker 2: That screams Halloween.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Medieval castles, Romanian folklore, Gothic mountain scenery make it the
- 2:07Speaker 1: most naturally spooky destination on the list. Yes, I'm allowed
- 2:11Speaker 1: to do the accent because my dad was from Hungary.
- 2:13Speaker 2: I was going to say, you do it so well.
- 2:15Speaker 1: I grew up listening to it.
- 2:17Speaker 2: That was really good.
- 2:18Speaker 1: And the territories have always changed, so there's a mix there.
- 2:21Speaker 1: Sometimes you'll hear Hungarian.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Have you ever been there?
- 2:22Speaker 1: No.
- 2:23Speaker 2: No.
- 2:24Speaker 1: No, we haven't been there.
- 2:25Speaker 2: You've got to put that on the list.
- 2:26Speaker 1: Okay, that's going on the list. Next to Scotland. Yes.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Sleepy Hollow, New York. Guys.
- 2:30Speaker 2: Right here, baby.
- 2:31Speaker 1: Come on. Headless Horseman. So much fun going over there.
- 2:35Speaker 1: And it is creepy. Like, when you talk creepy factor,
- 2:38Speaker 1: you can go to the graveyard of the Headless Horseman. Yeah,
- 2:42Speaker 1: it's so cool. Quebec City, Canada. They're cobblestone streets, century-old architecture,
- 2:48Speaker 1: and they do good ghost tours. Tokyo, Japan. Japan.
- 2:53Speaker 2: I had no idea. I was just there, but I mean,
- 2:55Speaker 2: I had no idea they were known for Halloween stuff.
- 2:57Speaker 1: Halloween here is more modern than traditional. Built around theme parks,
- 3:01Speaker 1: elaborate decorations, limited time attractions, and pop-up culture-driven seasonal entertainment.
- 3:05Speaker 1: So they're doing up Halloween. And finally, again, another big favorite,
- 3:10Speaker 1: New Orleans.
- 3:10Speaker 2: I was about to say, I haven't heard Florida or
- 3:12Speaker 2: New Orleans yet.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Yes. Oh, Orlando. You're right. Orlando's right on there.
- 3:16Speaker 2: Okay.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Yes.
- 3:17Speaker 2: I know Sarasota or that other old town is also good.
- 3:20Speaker 1: Oh, some of the old towns?
- 3:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:22Speaker 1: Yeah. But Orlando, because you've got Walt Disney World.
- 3:27Speaker 2: Right.
- 3:27Speaker 1: And they do a Halloween like crazy. So that's a
- 3:30Speaker 1: lot of fun.
- 3:30Speaker 2: And New Orleans.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Eric and I did New Orleans a couple of years
- 3:33Speaker 1: ago at Halloween and just loved it. It's the perfect place.
- 3:36Speaker 2: Well, it's such an old town. It is.
- 3:38Speaker 1: And they've got great ghost tours and people really go
- 3:41Speaker 1: all out and decorate.
- 3:42Speaker 2: It's great. Give us a text if you do these
- 3:45Speaker 2: road trips around here and you do the Halloween things.
- 3:49Speaker 1: 44363.
- 3:49Speaker 2: We would love to hear from you. It's Light FM
- 3:51Speaker 2: on a hump day.
