Transcript
- 0:02Welcome to Bible Chat, where we have devotional conversations
- 0:06rooted in Scripture and relevant for today, December 26th.
- 0:11Courage in the chaos Have you ever looked around at the world
- 0:14and felt your stomach drop? Like everything is loud,
- 0:17unstable, and unpredictable. The headlines, the arguments,
- 0:21the fear, the what if thoughts that hit you late at night.
- 0:24Jesus doesn't pretend chaos isn't real.
- 0:27In Mark chapter 13, he talks about intense moments ahead,
- 0:30including this warning. But when you see the abomination
- 0:33of desolation standing where he ought not to be, then let those
- 0:37who are in Judaea flee to the mountains.
- 0:39That's not meant to make you panic.
- 0:41It's meant to show you that Jesus sees what's coming and He
- 0:44wants his people awake, prepared, and steady.
- 0:47And Daniel Chapter 7 pulls back the curtain even more.
- 0:50It shows God on the throne, the Ancient of Days.
- 0:53And then it says, behold, with the clouds of heaven there came
- 0:57one like a Son of man, and to him was given dominion and glory
- 1:00and a Kingdom. Jesus called himself the Son of
- 1:03Man on purpose. Daniel's vision tells you who's
- 1:06really in charge when everything feels out of control.
- 1:09Kingdoms rise and fall, trends come and go, fear spreads fast.
- 1:14But Jesus receives dominion. Jesus receives glory.
- 1:17Jesus receives a Kingdom that does not end.
- 1:20Then Proverbs chapter 30 gives you an image of courage.
- 1:23You can almost see three things are stately in their tread.
- 1:26The lion, which is mightiest among beasts and does not turn
- 1:29back before any. That's the posture God wants to
- 1:32shape in you. Not reckless, not arrogant, but
- 1:35steady and unafraid. Courage isn't pretending.
- 1:38Nothing is scary. Courage is knowing who is king
- 1:41when things are scary. So what do you do when the world
- 1:44feels chaotic? You set your eyes on the throne.
- 1:47You anchor your heart in the truth that Jesus isn't
- 1:49surprised. Jesus isn't stressed and Jesus
- 1:52isn't losing. He prepares us so we won't
- 1:55crumble. He warns us so we won't drift.
- 1:58He leads us so we can help others find hope when they're
- 2:00overwhelmed. Let's pray, Heavenly Father,
- 2:03when the world feels chaotic and my mind feels overwhelmed,
- 2:07remind me that you are on the throne.
- 2:09Thank you that Jesus, the Son of Man, has dominion and a Kingdom
- 2:12that will never end. Give me courage like the lion,
- 2:15steady, focused and unafraid, because you are with me.
- 2:19Help me stay alert, faithful and full of hope and use my life to
- 2:23point others to your truth in Jesus name, Amen.

- 3:33Now I invite you to spend time with God in today's three-year
- 3:36Bible reading plan. Proverbs 3029 to 31 World
- 3:42English Bible There are three things which are stately in
- 3:45their March 4 which are stately in going.
- 3:47The lion, which is mightiest among animals and doesn't turn
- 3:51away for any, the greyhound, the male goat, and the king against
- 3:54whom there is no rising up. Daniel 79 to 14 world English
- 3:59Bible I watched until Thrones were placed and one who was
- 4:03ancient of days sat. His clothing was white as snow,
- 4:06and the hair of his head like pure wool.
- 4:08His throne was fiery flames and its wheels burning fire.
- 4:12A fiery stream issued and came out from before him.
- 4:15Thousands of thousands ministered to him. 10,000 *
- 4:1910,000 stood before him. The judgement was set.
- 4:22The books were opened. I watched at that time because
- 4:25of the voice of the arrogant words which the horn spoke.
- 4:28I watched even until the animal was slain and its body
- 4:31destroyed, and it was given to be burned with fire.
- 4:35As for the rest of the animals, their dominion was taken away,
- 4:38yet their lives were prolonged for a season and a time.
- 4:41I saw in the night visions, and behold, there came with the
- 4:45clouds of the Sky One like a son of man, and he came even to the
- 4:48ancient of Days, and they brought him near before him.
- 4:51Dominion was given him, and glory, and a Kingdom that all
- 4:55the peoples, nations, and languages should serve him.
- 4:58His dominion is an everlasting dominion which will not pass
- 5:02away, and His Kingdom one that will not be destroyed.
- 5:05Daniel 924 to 27 World English Bible 70 weeks are decreed on
- 5:10your people and on your holy city, to finish disobedience, to
- 5:14make an end of sins, to make reconciliation for iniquity, to
- 5:18bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision
- 5:21and prophecy, and to anoint the Most Holy.
- 5:24Know therefore, and discern that from the going out of the
- 5:26commandment to restore and build Jerusalem to the Anointed One.
- 5:30The Prince will be 7 weeks and 62 weeks.
- 5:33It will be built again with street and Moat even in troubled
- 5:36times. After the 62 weeks the Anointed
- 5:39One will be cut off and will have nothing.
- 5:42The people of the Prince who come will destroy the city and
- 5:45the sanctuary. It's end will be with a flood
- 5:48and war will be even to the end. Desolations are determined.
- 5:52He will make a firm covenant with many for one week.
- 5:55In the middle of the week he will cause the sacrifice and the
- 5:57offering to cease. On the wing of abominations will
- 6:00come one who makes desolate, and even to the decreed full end
- 6:04wrath will be poured out on the desolate Mark. 13 World English
- 6:08Bible As he went out of the temple, one of his disciples
- 6:11said to him, Teacher, see what kind of stones and what kind of
- 6:14buildings? Jesus said to him, Do you see
- 6:17these great buildings? There will not be left here 1
- 6:20stone on another which will not be thrown down.
- 6:23As he sat on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter,
- 6:26James, John and Andrew asked him privately, Tell us, when will
- 6:30these things be? What is the sign that these
- 6:33things are all about to be fulfilled?
- 6:35Jesus answering began to tell them, Be careful that no one
- 6:38leads you astray, for many will come in my name saying I am He
- 6:42and will lead many astray. When you hear of wars and rumors
- 6:46of wars, don't be troubled, for those must happen.
- 6:49But the end is not yet, for nation will rise against nation
- 6:52and Kingdom against Kingdom. There will be earthquakes in
- 6:55various places. There will be famines and
- 6:58troubles. These things are the beginning
- 7:00of birth pains, but watch yourselves, for they will
- 7:03deliver you up to councils. You will be beaten in
- 7:06synagogues, you will stand before rulers and kings for my
- 7:09sake, for a testimony to them. The good news must first be
- 7:13preached to all the nations when they lead you away and deliver
- 7:16you up. Don't be anxious beforehand or
- 7:18premeditate what you will say, but say whatever will be given
- 7:22you in that hour, for it is not you who speak, but the Holy
- 7:25Spirit. Brother will deliver up Brother
- 7:27to death, and the Father his child.
- 7:30Children will rise up against parents and cause them to be put
- 7:33to death. You will be hated by all men for
- 7:35my name's sake, but he who endures to the end will be
- 7:38saved. But when you see the abomination
- 7:41of desolation spoken of by Daniel the prophet standing
- 7:44where it ought not, let the reader understand.
- 7:47Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, and let
- 7:51him who is on the housetop not go down nor enter in to take
- 7:54anything out of his house. Let him who is in the field not
- 7:57return back to take his cloak. But woe to those who are with
- 8:01child, and to those who nurse babies in those days.
- 8:04Pray that your flight won't be in the winter, for in those days
- 8:07there will be oppression such as there has not been the like from
- 8:10the beginning of the creation which God created until now, and
- 8:14never will be. Unless the Lord had shortened
- 8:16the days, no flesh would have been saved but for the sake of
- 8:20the chosen ones whom He picked out.
- 8:21He shortened the days. Then if anyone tells you, look
- 8:24here is the Christ, or look there, don't believe it, For
- 8:28false Christs and false prophets will arise, and will show signs
- 8:31and wonders that they may lead astray, if possible, even the
- 8:34chosen ones. But you watch, behold, I have
- 8:38told you all things beforehand. But in those days after that
- 8:41oppression, the sun will be darkened, the moon will not give
- 8:45its light, the stars will be falling from the sky, and the
- 8:48powers that are in the heavens will be shaken.
- 8:51Then they will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great
- 8:54power and glory. Then he will send out his angels
- 8:57and will gather together his chosen ones from the four winds,
- 9:00from the ends of the earth to the ends of the sky.
- 9:03Now from the fig tree learn this parable.
- 9:05When the branch has now become tender and produces its leaves,
- 9:09you know that the summer is near.
- 9:11Even so, you also, when you see these things coming to pass,
- 9:14know that it is near at the doors.
- 9:16Most certainly, I say to you, this generation will not pass
- 9:20away until all these things happen.
- 9:22Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.
- 9:26But if that day or that hour, no one knows, not even the angels
- 9:29in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.
- 9:32Watch, keep alert and pray, for you don't know when the time is.
- 9:36It is like a man traveling to another country, having left his
- 9:40house and given authority to his servants and to each one his
- 9:43work, and also commanded the doorkeeper to keep watch.
- 9:46Watch, therefore, for you don't know when the Lord of the house
- 9:49is coming, whether at evening or at midnight or when the rooster
- 9:52crows, or in the morning, lest coming suddenly he might find
- 9:56you sleeping. What I tell you, I tell all.
- 9:59Watch. Thanks for joining us on Bible
