- 0:00Speaker 1: But Jesse and us have I got Ben?
- 0:03Speaker 2: Sorry, Ben, Ben, Sorry, I've just actually closed my windows
- 0:08Speaker 2: because it's a bit noisy on my street today. So yeah,
- 0:11Speaker 2: Jesse and Ben from Stellar Circus Welcome. What's been happening
- 0:17Speaker 2: for you guys?
- 0:19Speaker 3: Just working on music? We're going on getting this new
- 0:21Speaker 3: stuff out.
- 0:22Speaker 1: Yeah, the new album that's just oh sorry nor it
- 0:24Speaker 1: comes out. Is it the.
- 0:25Speaker 2: Fourteenth of November, but it's due out yep? Yeah yeah,
- 0:29Speaker 2: And is that what album number is that for you guys?
- 0:33Speaker 3: You'll be all right third night?
- 0:36Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, that's pretty exciting. And was there? Do you
- 0:39Speaker 1: spend a long time in the studio working on that one?
- 0:43Speaker 3: About the same as we've spent for most of the others.
- 0:45Speaker 3: It's we take about a month to track it. We
- 0:49Speaker 3: call everything out pretty extensively before we go track it.
- 0:52Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, the skeleton so to speak to them, go
- 0:56Speaker 2: and fill in.
- 0:59Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean we when we demo stuff, we pretty
- 1:01Speaker 3: much to a t kind of recorded the way that
- 1:06Speaker 3: we want and then just go to another studio and
- 1:08Speaker 3: just kind of recreate everything with better equipment.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Refine, chewing and polished yep. Yeah. Nice.
- 1:15Speaker 2: And when you guys are in studio, do you do
- 1:17Speaker 2: you track it like and one hit like is a
- 1:20Speaker 2: band or you do separate and then do layers.
- 1:22Speaker 1: How how do you approach for that?
- 1:25Speaker 3: Pretty much how any other band's going to do it nowadays?
- 1:27Speaker 3: Is everything separate? You know, except for you know, a
- 1:30Speaker 3: certain type of vibe.
- 1:32Speaker 4: You know, We've we talked about like maybe doing the
- 1:34Speaker 4: rhythm section like together on this last time. It just
- 1:37Speaker 4: always it always complicates things a little bit. So it's
- 1:42Speaker 4: just nice to do the drum. We usually just do
- 1:44Speaker 4: the drums first and then the bass of the guitar
- 1:48Speaker 4: and then the vocals.
- 1:50Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, nice, nice.
- 1:52Speaker 2: I guess it just it depends on your approach and
- 1:56Speaker 2: your kind of music as well.
- 1:57Speaker 1: I guess to get that really.
- 1:58Speaker 2: Fine sharing do you want on them do that separately
- 2:01Speaker 2: and strip it right apart and make sure it comes
- 2:04Speaker 2: to get abolished.
- 2:05Speaker 3: Yeah, for anything that has really a modern sound, you're
- 2:08Speaker 3: really going to want to do isolation.
- 2:10Speaker 2: Yeah, you guys have got a pretty heavy sound, that's
- 2:13Speaker 2: for sure. I gave the new track a listen and
- 2:17Speaker 2: I liked it. You've also got a little bit of
- 2:18Speaker 2: the sneaky melodica in there as well, which is a nice,
- 2:22Speaker 2: nice mixture. So it is that in line with your
- 2:25Speaker 2: previous stuff that you've done before, or is that something
- 2:27Speaker 2: new that you've branched out into.
- 2:29Speaker 3: It's about how we've always done stuff. We like to balance,
- 2:32Speaker 3: like heavier and lighter stuff and just kind of find
- 2:34Speaker 3: our way in the middle.
- 2:36Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, no, it's nice. It's it's a good mix.
- 2:38Speaker 1: It's certainly gives it that hybrid feel.
- 2:41Speaker 2: So yeah, yeah, and so with tours and live gigs,
- 2:45Speaker 2: how are you going for that?
- 2:46Speaker 1: What's the plan? You've got some stuff coming up next
- 2:49Speaker 1: early next year? I think, is that right?
- 2:51Speaker 3: Yeah, we're working on setting everything up for next year.
- 2:54Speaker 3: It's a dovetail off this release and hit the ground.
- 2:57Speaker 1: Running for sure.
- 2:59Speaker 3: I don't remember, like there was something with Soul Fly,
- 3:04Speaker 3: but not us.
- 3:05Speaker 4: Not US, I mean there there's they're signed to Nuclear
- 3:07Speaker 4: Blasts as well, that's what it is. Yeah, yeah, that
- 3:11Speaker 4: would be cool. We would love this.
- 3:14Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, they I think they just come down. I
- 3:18Speaker 2: don't know, not that long, but we don't remember. It's
- 3:21Speaker 2: doing something about them. So so yeah, So what do
- 3:24Speaker 2: you have any like stuff playing for the new year
- 3:26Speaker 2: for tours in live shows or is that in the
- 3:29Speaker 2: in the process, not in.
- 3:31Speaker 4: The books, but we're we're definitely playing on it early
- 3:34Speaker 4: next year.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Yeah. Nice.
- 3:35Speaker 2: Nice, And how do you guys go find playing BLAG audience?
- 3:38Speaker 2: Is it different to getting it out in the studio?
- 3:43Speaker 1: Yeah, it's definitely different.
- 3:44Speaker 3: It's yeah, it's it's it's different than playing in the studio,
- 3:49Speaker 3: that's for sure.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Definitely. Is it like no, have you been come over you.
- 3:53Speaker 2: Or just it's just the whole experience altogether.
- 3:57Speaker 3: I think the whole experience, But everybody's different. I've definitely
- 4:01Speaker 3: always struggled with just like social anxiety and nervousness and
- 4:06Speaker 3: stage fright type of thing, but it's it's it's worthwhile
- 4:10Speaker 3: to push through.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:12Speaker 2: Yeah, No, it's definitely a thing, especially when you're looking
- 4:14Speaker 2: out to thousands of faces down there expecting something from you,
- 4:18Speaker 2: and it gets a bit daunting and overwhelming. But actually say,
- 4:21Speaker 2: at the same time, it can be fast experience. Ever,
- 4:23Speaker 2: it's exhilarating. So yeah, so just to your base, Yeah,
- 4:27Speaker 2: and Ben, what is it that you play?
- 4:29Speaker 1: Sorry, I'm the vocalist vocals, that's right, Sorry, so yeah,
- 4:33Speaker 1: that would be yeah, it's you're the front man for Frontal.
- 4:37Speaker 2: It's it's yeah, it's a good position to have but yeah,
- 4:41Speaker 2: let you say, you can get a bit nerve wracking
- 4:43Speaker 2: from time to time, but I'm sure you guys wouldn't
- 4:46Speaker 2: be wanting to do anything else.
- 4:49Speaker 3: No, I mean, it's even even with the struggles that
- 4:52Speaker 3: come with it, it's still everything that we want to do.
- 4:55Speaker 2: Yeah, it's pretty cool job. So how long have stell
- 4:58Speaker 2: a Circus been together?
- 5:00Speaker 1: A groupful? How mean he is now be a little off?
- 5:04Speaker 4: About ten ten years?
- 5:07Speaker 2: A lot of yeah, and so in that time, is
- 5:10Speaker 2: there been much change or tell me a little about
- 5:12Speaker 2: a little bit where you've come from until now you're here.
- 5:16Speaker 1: What's some any highlights low lights?
- 5:20Speaker 3: There's been a few changes over the years. When we started,
- 5:23Speaker 3: it took a little while to get the right pieces
- 5:25Speaker 3: in place, and we wrote this record with our guitar
- 5:31Speaker 3: player who joined us on our last album years ago,
- 5:36Speaker 3: but since he's become the primary guitarist of our band.
- 5:39Speaker 3: So okay for the part though, everything's been pretty pretty
- 5:43Speaker 3: similar throughout.
- 5:44Speaker 1: Yeah. Nice, nice. And so you guys are based in
- 5:46Speaker 1: the States whereabouts on the east or west coast on
- 5:49Speaker 1: the east coast, East coast. Nice? Nice. So you're.
- 5:54Speaker 2: Let me guess you'll Thursday evening? Is that correct where
- 5:57Speaker 2: you are right now? Yeah, yeah, nice Friday after coming
- 6:01Speaker 2: into our early afternoon for us.
- 6:02Speaker 1: Over here, no doubt. Oh yeah, it's.
- 6:05Speaker 2: Always fun knowing that what the time time zones are
- 6:07Speaker 2: and the difference. So yeah, so many clients to come
- 6:10Speaker 2: come down under it all for you guys.
- 6:13Speaker 3: We hope. So it's nothing that we've been able to
- 6:15Speaker 3: do yet, but it's always been at the top of
- 6:16Speaker 3: our list for.
- 6:18Speaker 1: Sure, for sure.
- 6:18Speaker 2: And so what would you come out of like see
- 6:21Speaker 2: yourself doing like maybe part of a festival or a
- 6:23Speaker 2: headliner or.
- 6:24Speaker 1: What's see how the hopes for yourselves to I mean.
- 6:27Speaker 3: Whatever would make sense, you know, depending on the opportunity,
- 6:30Speaker 3: we'd probably be down for whatever.
- 6:32Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, for sure, excellent. And so how many tracks
- 6:35Speaker 2: are on this latest album? It's quit Fantsom Phoenix is
- 6:38Speaker 2: that's the name?
- 6:39Speaker 1: Is that correct? There's ten songs?
- 6:42Speaker 2: Ten songs, yeah, And so with the name of that
- 6:44Speaker 2: fandom Phoenix, what's what was the inspiration for that? It's
- 6:47Speaker 2: kind of a bit of a it's yeah contrast, which
- 6:52Speaker 2: is interesting.
- 6:54Speaker 3: Yeah, it's really it just starts phonetically. I think I
- 6:58Speaker 3: like to collect titles and words and stuff, and that
- 7:00Speaker 3: was one that just stuck and wouldn't go away and
- 7:04Speaker 3: just kind of rose to the top as being like
- 7:06Speaker 3: the title.
- 7:07Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, nice, nice, And so from all those tracks,
- 7:10Speaker 2: did you have like it? You didn't, guy who didn't
- 7:12Speaker 2: release a single from that? You just released the album?
- 7:14Speaker 3: Is that right? From this latest one?
- 7:17Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 7:18Speaker 3: Well the album comes out on the fourteenth. Yeah, up
- 7:22Speaker 3: next month. But we've released three singles so far.
- 7:24Speaker 2: Oh okay, yes, yep, yeah, and so have they tracked
- 7:27Speaker 2: fees so far? They they've been good with the fans.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Fan base has got it right into it all. Yeah, yeah, nice,
- 7:35Speaker 2: nice and so.
- 7:35Speaker 1: Back got videos as well.
- 7:36Speaker 2: Do you guys involved in that process or is that
- 7:39Speaker 2: he handed over to someone else to do that side. Yeah.
- 7:44Speaker 4: We we have a guy eras Beta that we've worked
- 7:46Speaker 4: with for since our first record, and we just kind
- 7:51Speaker 4: of bounce ideas off of him and he has his
- 7:54Speaker 4: own creative input and we h yeah, we just create
- 7:57Speaker 4: the videos together.
- 7:58Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:58Speaker 2: Nice and as fun kind of gets a bit weird sometimes,
- 8:02Speaker 2: I think, but it can also be a lot of fun.
- 8:05Speaker 1: Yeah, it's always a good time.
- 8:06Speaker 4: Yeah, this is friends.
- 8:09Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 8:10Speaker 2: Yeah, you get to take the edge off and relax
- 8:12Speaker 2: a little bit, not so serious and to notice the
- 8:16Speaker 2: grind so to speak. Yeah, awesome. Well, thank you for
- 8:20Speaker 2: coming and having a chat with Happy and we look
- 8:22Speaker 2: forward to Foot eight when it comes out, and hopefully
- 8:26Speaker 2: we'll see you guys down under the next year, well
- 8:28Speaker 2: sometimes soon anyway.
- 8:29Speaker 1: It'll be nice.
- 8:31Speaker 2: We'll look forward to awesome all right, guys, we'll take
- 8:34Speaker 2: care and enjoy and we'll be in touch later.
- 8:38Speaker 1: Thanks.
