- 0:00Speaker 1: Well, there's been more backlash throughout yesterday for Ed Sheeran. Meanwhile,
- 0:04Speaker 1: we found out that there were pre-show discussions with Macklemore
- 0:08Speaker 1: about not bringing up pro-Palestinian messaging on stage, which reportedly
- 0:14Speaker 1: Macklemore agreed to, but he did it anyway. Which is
- 0:18Speaker 1: part of why Robert Kraft, I guess, felt the need
- 0:22Speaker 1: to force Macklemore off of Ed's tour.
- 0:25Speaker 2: So that's just interesting to know.
- 0:27Speaker 1: But Macklemore announced yesterday after receiving, you know, so much
- 0:30Speaker 1: support for from everywhere that he is going to donate
- 0:33Speaker 1: his entire one million in net earnings from Ed's loop tour.
- 0:38Speaker 1: to six different organizations supporting Palestinians. And he invited Robert
- 0:43Speaker 1: Kraft to match it. He said, hey, this is what
- 0:46Speaker 1: I'm doing. I dare you to match it.
- 0:48Speaker 2: And he did. And on top of that, Ed Sheeran
- 0:51Speaker 2: did as well.
- 0:52Speaker 1: Ed actually did $ 2 million on top of all of that.
- 0:55Speaker 1: So with all this bad blood going on and all
- 0:58Speaker 1: this craziness happening this week with this situation, they're at
- 1:01Speaker 1: least putting money towards the same humanitarian crisis, which at
- 1:05Speaker 1: the end of the day is pathetic.
- 1:06Speaker 2: Probably a good thing.
- 1:07Speaker 3: Yeah, that's fantastic. And Nina, it's so funny, the story
- 1:11Speaker 3: that you brought to us and to all of our
- 1:12Speaker 3: attention that we've been covering for so long, I'm going
- 1:14Speaker 3: to add to that now. And there is even more,
- 1:17Speaker 3: I don't want to say drama, but there's an extra
- 1:19Speaker 3: layer to this whole thing. Guitar Center actually came out
- 1:22Speaker 3: last month and said in a contest, hey, who wants
- 1:25Speaker 3: to open for Ed Sheeran?
- 1:27Speaker 2: Uh-oh.
- 1:27Speaker 3: Was this like foreshadowing or something?
- 1:29Speaker 2: Wait, really?
- 1:30Speaker 3: Yes. The world may never know if this was actual foreshadowing,
- 1:33Speaker 3: but I do want to let you know that I'm
- 1:35Speaker 3: going to try and get in this spot. This is awesome.
- 1:37Speaker 3: This is for all guitarists 18 years and older. And
- 1:40Speaker 3: if they want to put in a song that they
- 1:43Speaker 3: have written, you can open for Legends. It's a competition
- 1:46Speaker 3: series that Guitar Center started last month. And if you're chosen,
- 1:50Speaker 3: the winner actually gets $ 15, 000 of cash.
- 1:51Speaker 4: Whoa.
- 1:52Speaker 2: I know.
- 1:54Speaker 3: And the trip is totally paid for. And you get
- 1:56Speaker 3: to open for Ed Sheeran at his Mexico City show
- 2:00Speaker 3: on December 11th. So a free trip out of the country,
- 2:03Speaker 3: all expenses paid. $ 15, 000 cash. I am in on this.
- 2:07Speaker 3: I'm going to write the best song I've ever written,
- 2:10Speaker 3: and I'm going to be going on tour with Ed
- 2:12Speaker 3: Sheeran December 11th.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, please submit for that. That would be incredible.
- 2:17Speaker 3: This is so funny how this whole thing has happened,
- 2:19Speaker 3: because last month was way before any of this, all
- 2:22Speaker 3: this drama unleashed, and now we get a chance to
- 2:24Speaker 3: have a no-name open for Ed Sheeran?
- 2:26Speaker 2: I mean, all right, all right. And we'll be your groupies, Josh.
- 2:30Speaker 3: We've got you. Okay, sounds good. Perfect.
- 2:32Speaker 1: So, Josh, we are trying to get to know each
- 2:34Speaker 1: other a little bit more because although we've been coworkers
- 2:36Speaker 1: for several years now.
- 2:38Speaker 2: We haven't spent all that much time together.
- 2:41Speaker 3: No, I mean, we were on opposite schedules. Right. Our
- 2:43Speaker 3: entire work lives here. I was in the mornings. You
- 2:45Speaker 3: were in the drive home.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:47Speaker 3: So it's like we'd say hi and then... So, yeah,
- 2:50Speaker 3: that's about it.
- 2:51Speaker 2: Exactly. We would just kind of cross paths every once
- 2:54Speaker 2: in a while.
- 2:55Speaker 1: But I think it's interesting that you have several siblings
- 2:58Speaker 1: and you were just asking me about my siblings yesterday.
- 3:00Speaker 1: I do have two older sisters that I grew up with.
- 3:03Speaker 1: And it's funny because I have a bunch of nieces
- 3:05Speaker 1: and nephews that I'm actually closer in age with. So
- 3:08Speaker 1: they're almost like my siblings as well. But for me,
- 3:11Speaker 1: it's a little bit complicated. But for you, you have
- 3:14Speaker 1: a lot of siblings too. I was surprised to find
- 3:16Speaker 1: out how many siblings you have.
- 3:17Speaker 3: I do. And my siblings' ages span a lot, like many,
- 3:22Speaker 3: many years. I'm actually 10 years older than my youngest brother.
- 3:26Speaker 3: And he is in his final year of college. And
- 3:29Speaker 3: so for me, I'm like, dude, Senior year for you,
- 3:32Speaker 3: are you just going to go absolutely crazy? Because I
- 3:34Speaker 3: remember my time in college.
- 3:36Speaker 2: Yeah, you were a wild child. You had some fun
- 3:39Speaker 2: for sure.
- 3:40Speaker 3: No, it was a good time. What can I say?
- 3:42Speaker 3: I mean, did you not have fun in college?
- 3:43Speaker 2: I mean, I definitely did.
- 3:45Speaker 1: And most people got to get that out of their system.
- 3:48Speaker 2: So there's no.
- 3:49Speaker 3: I was going to say, back me up on this.
- 3:51Speaker 2: A little bit.
- 3:51Speaker 3: No shade. No, no, no.
- 3:52Speaker 2: It's all right.
- 3:53Speaker 3: So you and I are familiar with the term darty.
- 3:56Speaker 3: It's a day party, okay? Yeah. That's what all colleges do.
- 3:59Speaker 3: I was up at CSU. Go Rammies. We had a
- 4:02Speaker 3: lot of darties like this. However, with those darties would
- 4:06Speaker 3: usually come a lot of day.
- 4:09Speaker 2: Drinking, if you will.
- 4:09Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 4:10Speaker 2: I mean, that's what it is.
- 4:11Speaker 3: You can't drink all day if you don't start in
- 4:12Speaker 3: the morning. That's what it is.
- 4:13Speaker 2: Yeah. 8 a.m., let's go.
- 4:15Speaker 3: Well, this is very different. So I was talking to
- 4:17Speaker 3: my brother, and he's about... a month into his first
- 4:21Speaker 3: semester of senior year now. So I was talking, I
- 4:23Speaker 3: was like, hey, we would always get up there a
- 4:25Speaker 3: little early and have a couple parties and, you know,
- 4:27Speaker 3: everybody's back in town. He told me something that I
- 4:31Speaker 3: was flabbergasted. And I think that's the only word that
- 4:33Speaker 3: I can actually think of in this moment.
- 4:35Speaker 2: When the younger brother is already shocking you, what happened?
- 4:38Speaker 3: Well, they're doing these things called darties, but they're not
- 4:41Speaker 3: a normal darty. It's a wellness darty. And I am
- 4:44Speaker 3: not kidding you. This thing is filled with Like drinking
- 4:48Speaker 3: coffee or matcha. People can go on runs during these Darties.
- 4:53Speaker 3: They can exercise. They have ice.
- 4:55Speaker 2: Like yoga sessions.
- 4:57Speaker 3: Literally ice baths and yoga sessions at these Darties. Interesting.
- 5:02Speaker 3: This is not what I'm familiar with in any way.
- 5:06Speaker 3: But this is all part of a new generation where.
- 5:08Speaker 2: No, it really is.
- 5:09Speaker 3: These Gen Zers, or I guess even now Gen Alphas, are...
- 5:14Speaker 3: wanting to live life and have longevity in life, which
- 5:18Speaker 3: I guess you and I didn't experience while we were
- 5:20Speaker 3: in college. No, no.
- 5:22Speaker 1: We're like pour seven different alcohols into this bin and
- 5:25Speaker 1: call it a day.
- 5:27Speaker 3: And I can't imagine, I can't even believe we did
- 5:29Speaker 3: that where people would put their hands in I know
- 5:31Speaker 3: it's gross. Like it just it doesn't make any sense.
- 5:34Speaker 2: It is really gross. But you know what? Our immune
- 5:35Speaker 2: system is great because of it. So that's one thing.
- 5:38Speaker 3: I hope so. It's just interesting to me. These wellness darties,
- 5:42Speaker 3: there's zero alcohol involved, like there's zero booze. There's not
- 5:46Speaker 3: really any loud music anymore. If anything, they're listening to.
- 5:50Speaker 3: the calming music, maybe even some white noise, and just
- 5:54Speaker 3: hanging out and talking. Wow.
- 5:56Speaker 2: I mean, that's nice. That's very nice. It's very wholesome.
- 5:59Speaker 2: But you're right. It's completely different from when you and
- 6:02Speaker 2: I were in college.
- 6:03Speaker 3: This new movement is very different, which is fine. I mean,
- 6:06Speaker 3: these people are probably going to live to be 110,
- 6:08Speaker 3: which is awesome.
- 6:09Speaker 2: It'll be interesting to see how it all kind of
- 6:11Speaker 2: turns out. I mean, you and I will be dead, but...
- 6:13Speaker 2: And this will be interesting to see.
- 6:14Speaker 3: But we have good stories to talk about.
- 6:17Speaker 2: We have great stories, but yeah. That's what I'm saying.
- 6:19Speaker 3: You need this. I'm not saying you need to drink
- 6:21Speaker 3: a lot. Drink very responsibly and be over 21 years old.
- 6:24Speaker 2: As you should, for sure.
- 6:25Speaker 3: That being said.
- 6:26Speaker 2: Have some fun.
- 6:27Speaker 3: Have you ever had a really good college story saying,
- 6:30Speaker 3: so my friends and I went out and got matcha?
- 6:33Speaker 2: That's how it started.
- 6:34Speaker 3: No, you don't. You don't have those good parties and stories.
- 6:38Speaker 3: Come on.
- 6:39Speaker 2: I don't know. The kids are different these days.
- 6:41Speaker 1: It's like you kind of want to shake your head
- 6:43Speaker 1: a little bit, but at the same time, they're being
- 6:45Speaker 1: healthy and responsible and good.
- 6:48Speaker 2: And so it's like, fine.
- 6:49Speaker 3: No, Nina, y'all are whack. Y'all are crazy.
- 6:52Speaker 2: I don't know how to feel about it. Just do you, kids,
- 6:54Speaker 2: I guess, okay?
- 6:55Speaker 1: Three things you need to know before you go into
- 6:57Speaker 1: the office, like Arvada city leaders. They announced that they
- 7:01Speaker 1: were considering adding paid parking in Old Town Arvada to
- 7:05Speaker 1: battle spot hogs, but then all the locals heard about it,
- 7:10Speaker 1: and they responded to a city survey, and about 4,000
- 7:12Speaker 1: people said, uh-uh. Ain't no way you're doing that to
- 7:17Speaker 1: our town.
- 7:18Speaker 3: Those are the spot hogs.
- 7:19Speaker 2: Those are the ones hogging the spots.
- 7:21Speaker 3: Probably.
- 7:22Speaker 1: But after a strong pushback from businesses and residents, they
- 7:27Speaker 1: are rolling back on this paid parking proposal. A lot
- 7:31Speaker 1: of the business owners agree that paid parking is actually
- 7:34Speaker 1: going to do more harm than good, especially for their businesses.
- 7:38Speaker 1: If someone needs to just run in really quick, grab
- 7:41Speaker 1: one thing, you're not going to want to pay for parking.
- 7:43Speaker 2: And that's kind of the argument there.
- 7:45Speaker 3: I get that. They could go the Cherry Creek way
- 7:49Speaker 3: a little bit and do like, hey, 30 minutes or
- 7:50Speaker 3: less is free. Ooh. But they do know that Cherry Creek,
- 7:53Speaker 3: those people, they spend hours in the shopping mall and
- 7:56Speaker 3: things like that.
- 7:57Speaker 2: Right. Although that's a good, I don't know, I like
- 7:59Speaker 2: that idea.
- 8:00Speaker 3: Hire me for mayor. Maybe. I'm available.
- 8:02Speaker 2: Yeah, there you go.
- 8:03Speaker 1: City officials or city residents say that the city should
- 8:06Speaker 1: focus on improvements to the transit hub instead. So for now,
- 8:10Speaker 1: there will continue to be free parking in Old Town, Arvada.
- 8:14Speaker 3: Well, that's good. I think they need that still. And
- 8:16Speaker 3: I want to let you know, be very careful with
- 8:18Speaker 3: your kiddos when you're traveling during the holiday season this year.
- 8:21Speaker 3: Many of those kids are opting to bring, like, their squishies.
- 8:24Speaker 3: Do you know what I'm talking about? Like, those little dumplings,
- 8:26Speaker 3: you know? Of course.
- 8:27Speaker 2: The squishies. There's, like, butter.
- 8:29Speaker 3: Yes, yes, yes, yes.
- 8:30Speaker 2: There's the dumplings. There's all sorts of stuff.
- 8:32Speaker 3: All the rage right now. Totally all the rage. And
- 8:34Speaker 3: some of these are pretty rare. Like, I know the
- 8:36Speaker 3: dumpling craze has gotten completely out of hand if you
- 8:38Speaker 3: go to, like, five below or whatever. Yeah. You try
- 8:40Speaker 3: to find the sparkling one. My sisters have gone nuts
- 8:43Speaker 3: for it. It's... Weird thing. It's their adults, but it's fine. Anyway. Yeah.
- 8:46Speaker 3: If you want to bring those through the TSA, some
- 8:49Speaker 3: of those are too big and you cannot bring them
- 8:51Speaker 3: through the TSA. And this has led to viral videos.
- 8:54Speaker 3: I'm not trying to laugh at them. but viral videos
- 8:56Speaker 3: of kids throwing massive fits because they have to throw
- 8:59Speaker 3: those away.
- 9:00Speaker 2: Oh, so the inside, is that technically liquid?
- 9:03Speaker 3: It's a liquid, and you can't bring anything more than
- 9:05Speaker 3: eight ounces of liquid onto the plane. Now, if you
- 9:07Speaker 3: pack it in your suitcase, that might be okay, but
- 9:10Speaker 3: anything carry-on worthy, you cannot do that, and some of
- 9:13Speaker 3: these are the rare ones. Like, I know one video
- 9:15Speaker 3: went viral because it was the large butter stick squishy,
- 9:18Speaker 3: and those ones are super hard to find. Some of
- 9:20Speaker 3: these are even going, and I know this isn't, like,
- 9:22Speaker 3: super expensive, but think about what you're buying. You're buying
- 9:24Speaker 3: a rubber squishy. Some of these are going as high
- 9:26Speaker 3: as like 45 bucks on eBay and things like that.
- 9:29Speaker 3: And these videos of the children throwing absolute fits have
- 9:32Speaker 3: gone viral and it's funny. But just remember, if you
- 9:34Speaker 3: have a child that wants to have these on the
- 9:36Speaker 3: plane with them so they can play, because these are
- 9:38Speaker 3: sensory toys.
- 9:39Speaker 2: You know, they're good for that.
- 9:40Speaker 3: They're great for keeping your child busy. However, understand that
- 9:44Speaker 3: planes and airlines do have rules and you just may
- 9:47Speaker 3: not be able to bring the bigger ones on those planes.
- 9:51Speaker 3: and you don't want your kids to be throwing fits
- 9:53Speaker 3: in the TSA, because it's already stressful enough.
- 9:55Speaker 2: It is, it totally is.
- 9:56Speaker 1: So yeah, that's just a nightmare, I think, for a
- 9:58Speaker 1: lot of parents. So you've been warned.
- 10:00Speaker 3: Just think ahead.
- 10:01Speaker 2: Put it in your checked baggage.
- 10:03Speaker 1: And Trader Joe's has a new tote bag for you
- 10:06Speaker 1: to stand in line for. It was announced yesterday, this
- 10:09Speaker 1: special mini Halloween tote bag that is gonna be given out.
- 10:13Speaker 1: It's classic Halloween black, pumpkin orange, ghoulish green, and.
- 10:17Speaker 2: A pop of purple.
- 10:19Speaker 1: There's three or four different varieties of these bags, the
- 10:22Speaker 1: same colors, they just like mixed and matched the pattern.
- 10:26Speaker 1: but they're going to be available in Trader Joe's for
- 10:29Speaker 1: a limited time starting next Wednesday, September 30th. They're going
- 10:33Speaker 1: to cost $ 3, $ 2. 99, not bad, but it's hard to
- 10:37Speaker 1: get your hands on them.
- 10:37Speaker 2: People stand in.
- 10:39Speaker 1: Line hours before the stores open up to get these
- 10:42Speaker 1: because they resell them, and they've resold for hundreds of dollars.
- 10:46Speaker 3: And I don't understand this. This is kind of going
- 10:48Speaker 3: back to the Arvada spot hog thing. You're spot hogging
- 10:51Speaker 3: in line now, and I don't get it. It's a bag.
- 10:54Speaker 3: I remember... Trader Joe's does this for multiple seasons. They do, yeah.
- 10:58Speaker 3: So there was like a spring one that dropped. And
- 10:59Speaker 3: I was like, hey, maybe I'll just go in. I
- 11:00Speaker 3: was near a Trader Joe's. I wanted to grab a bag.
- 11:02Speaker 3: And he's like, I talked to a guy there. And
- 11:04Speaker 3: he's like, dude, those sold out in like 10 minutes.
- 11:05Speaker 3: And I was like, these bags sell out? This is
- 11:08Speaker 3: a thing?
- 11:09Speaker 1: They're a hot commodity. It's weird, too, because for me,
- 11:12Speaker 1: I'm like, that's such a small bag. They're tiny.
- 11:14Speaker 2: They're smaller.
- 11:15Speaker 3: They don't hold much.
- 11:16Speaker 2: They don't hold much.
- 11:17Speaker 1: But I think people want them because it's like a
- 11:20Speaker 1: quick lunch bag at work.
- 11:22Speaker 2: Or it's a good bag to use for a gift
- 11:24Speaker 2: as your friend.
- 11:25Speaker 1: Then you fill it with candles and candies and small
- 11:28Speaker 1: things like that.
- 11:29Speaker 2: And so it's a good gift bag.
- 11:30Speaker 3: Y'all want to be so trendy. And I get it.
- 11:32Speaker 3: I understand it. It's the same thing with those Starbucks
- 11:34Speaker 3: cups when they come out.
- 11:35Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:35Speaker 3: It's just.
- 11:37Speaker 1: It's the next thing that we're just all buying, unfortunately.
- 11:41Speaker 2: So your celebrity quickie. Despite kicking the.
- 11:44Speaker 1: Broncos' butts on Monday, Travis Kelsey is actually not having
- 11:48Speaker 1: a great week this week.
- 11:49Speaker 2: Good.
- 11:50Speaker 3: Sorry.
- 11:51Speaker 2: I knew you'd be happy about that.
- 11:52Speaker 3: I'm still bitter. Yeah.
- 11:53Speaker 2: He was named as a victim in a Ponzi scheme.
- 11:57Speaker 2: So there's this guy.
- 11:59Speaker 1: He has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for fraud,
- 12:02Speaker 1: taking in more than $ 35 million from investors. Travis being
- 12:08Speaker 1: one of those investors.
- 12:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:10Speaker 1: So his exact losses were not disclosed just yet. So
- 12:14Speaker 1: we don't know how much of that $ 35 million was his,
- 12:17Speaker 1: but I bet he lost a pretty penny. And not
- 12:21Speaker 1: only did that happen that he's got a deal with now,
- 12:24Speaker 1: he bought that huge mansion in Ohio, right? With Taylor Swift.
- 12:28Speaker 1: And they're having some issues with that as well. So
- 12:31Speaker 1: they want to build a eight foot tall wall. a
- 12:34Speaker 1: privacy fence, right? They're massive celebrities.
- 12:37Speaker 2: It makes sense. But the city, well, right.
- 12:41Speaker 1: The city is only allowing the type of fence that
- 12:44Speaker 1: they want to be 30 inches in height versus the
- 12:47Speaker 1: eight feet.
- 12:48Speaker 2: That they want.
- 12:49Speaker 3: That's a massive difference.
- 12:51Speaker 2: I know.
- 12:52Speaker 1: What?
- 12:52Speaker 2: They're like, nope, you get 30 inches.
- 12:54Speaker 3: What the heck?
- 12:55Speaker 1: So they spent millions of dollars on this house thinking that,
- 12:59Speaker 1: oh yeah, we can do this and that, especially to
- 13:01Speaker 1: protect our privacy. And they may not be able to
- 13:04Speaker 1: because city officials are like, nah, that's just not how
- 13:06Speaker 1: it works here.
- 13:07Speaker 3: You know what? Just because he's on the chief's good. Okay, anyway,
- 13:09Speaker 3: moving on. I'm going to bring this up because I
- 13:12Speaker 3: love it. Spider-Man Brand New Day is making history. This
- 13:15Speaker 3: is the movie that came out in July of, And
- 13:17Speaker 3: it's now the highest grossing movie domestically in the history
- 13:21Speaker 3: of movies, right? It's crazy. It surpassed Star Wars The
- 13:25Speaker 3: Force Awakens and in true Star Wars fashion. Look, I
- 13:28Speaker 3: had to throw this in there.
- 13:29Speaker 2: I love this.
- 13:29Speaker 3: In true Star Wars fashion, Lucasfilm congratulated the new winner
- 13:33Speaker 3: with impressive, most impressive, and the force is strong with you. Now,
- 13:37Speaker 3: for those Star Wars fans, if you know, you know,
- 13:40Speaker 3: that is a major Star Wars line, and I love it.
- 13:43Speaker 3: It's a quote from the movies. Spider-Man has now grossed $ 936. 8
- 13:46Speaker 3: million domestically and is the third highest grossing grossing movie
- 13:52Speaker 3: worldwide amassing $ 2. 43 billion, Nina. Wow.
- 13:56Speaker 2: Have you seen this movie? No, I haven't.
- 13:59Speaker 1: I haven't really watched any of them. I felt like, well,
- 14:02Speaker 1: the thing is there's so many of them, right? And
- 14:04Speaker 1: it starts back at even like the Avengers and stuff
- 14:07Speaker 1: like that. Yes. I am not caught up and it's
- 14:10Speaker 1: intimidating the amount of movies that I need to watch
- 14:13Speaker 1: in order to catch up.
- 14:14Speaker 3: Let me tell you. So it's funny. I actually am
- 14:16Speaker 3: not a huge... huge Avengers follower, and now I'm not
- 14:20Speaker 3: gonna say I'm not a fan, because I did what
- 14:22Speaker 3: you just said you need to do. I watched the
- 14:25Speaker 3: entire Marvel catalog without interruption, and it took forever. I
- 14:30Speaker 3: did it with my brother. It's like three weeks of movies. Oh, no, seriously.
- 14:34Speaker 3: If you watch everything, including the Disney Plus shows, it's
- 14:38Speaker 3: like 63 different movies and shows you need to watch. Oh.
- 14:42Speaker 3: And some of those shows have like seven seasons. So
- 14:44Speaker 3: it took a minute to get through it. However, I'm
- 14:47Speaker 3: really glad I did it because I was caught up
- 14:49Speaker 3: on things that I missed out on years and decades ago.
- 14:52Speaker 3: And it was really neat to see that. But this
- 14:55Speaker 3: movie specifically is awesome. I saw it twice in theaters.
- 14:58Speaker 3: I loved it so much.
- 14:59Speaker 1: So is this a movie that I can just go
- 15:00Speaker 1: watch without knowing all the other stuff?
- 15:02Speaker 3: There will be a few parts that you're a little
- 15:04Speaker 3: confused on. But it's Spider-Man. You'll be able to watch
- 15:06Speaker 3: Spider-Man and be like, dude, he shoots webs from his wrist.
- 15:09Speaker 3: It's awesome.
- 15:09Speaker 2: I've heard it's great. It's really good.
- 15:12Speaker 1: And I do want to watch it because it's getting
- 15:14Speaker 1: so much hype and it's making this much money, so
- 15:16Speaker 1: it's got to be good.
- 15:17Speaker 3: Tom Holland and Zendaya, they're great.
- 15:19Speaker 2: That's mostly why I want to watch it, but I
- 15:22Speaker 2: feel intimidated. I think you.
- 15:23Speaker 3: Could watch it and just appreciate that it's a good
- 15:25Speaker 3: movie with being confused in like two parts. Okay. It's okay.
- 15:29Speaker 3: It's okay.
- 15:29Speaker 2: Okay, good to know. Thank you.
- 15:31Speaker 1: So rapper Drake has been all wrapped up with this
- 15:34Speaker 1: goth baddie who won a dating challenge to be with
- 15:38Speaker 1: Drake in the first place, which that's kind of weird,
- 15:40Speaker 1: but do you, boo-boo.
- 15:41Speaker 2: Her name is Pinkchew, and.
- 15:44Speaker 1: She has got Drake wrapped around her black nail polish
- 15:47Speaker 1: painted finger.
- 15:48Speaker 3: Is this not a play on word of Pikachu? Pinkchew?
- 15:51Speaker 2: I think so.
- 15:51Speaker 1: I think that's exactly what it's supposed to be, yes.
- 15:54Speaker 1: But she has had Drake do all sorts of stuff.
- 15:57Speaker 1: She's had him bark like a dog on the internet.
- 16:00Speaker 1: She's had him buy her mom a house. And now
- 16:04Speaker 1: she is dressing Drake all goth in Hot Topics Best.
- 16:08Speaker 3: He just shops at Spencer's in Hot Topics now. I know.
- 16:11Speaker 2: For real. For real.
- 16:13Speaker 1: So they put out a new music video together. It
- 16:15Speaker 1: was for a music video. But he is trying on
- 16:17Speaker 1: clothes literally at a Hot Topic. a ripped up black sweater.
- 16:21Speaker 1: He's got these baggy, huge black pants on with chains
- 16:25Speaker 1: all over them. And Drake turned goth in this music video.
- 16:29Speaker 1: And then it just had a weird turn, kinda. And
- 16:31Speaker 1: then they went over to Medieval Times.
- 16:33Speaker 2: For some reason.
- 16:34Speaker 1: I don't really know, but these two are definitely having
- 16:36Speaker 1: some fun with each other. But I just think it's
- 16:38Speaker 1: weird that they met in the first place on a
- 16:40Speaker 1: dating challenge.
- 16:41Speaker 3: Wait, so does he bark in the music video, or
- 16:44Speaker 3: is he literally barking for her?
- 16:46Speaker 2: No, that was a different video. He's barking for her.
- 16:49Speaker 3: I have never, ever barked for a woman. That is.
- 16:53Speaker 2: I don't know if it's true love then, Josh.
- 16:55Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 16:56Speaker 2: I'm just saying. Josh, I heard this interesting story.
- 17:00Speaker 1: An Egyptian president who, you know, you're the highest of
- 17:04Speaker 1: the high. You have all this money. You don't got
- 17:06Speaker 1: to worry about a thing. Anything you want, you get it.
- 17:09Speaker 2: Right away.
- 17:10Speaker 1: But this Egyptian president got a gift that he could
- 17:14Speaker 1: not get over.
- 17:16Speaker 2: And I feel like you relate to this.
- 17:17Speaker 3: I relate to this on like a spiritual level, Nina.
- 17:21Speaker 3: And it was so funny. I saw this story how
- 17:22Speaker 3: it was Egyptians, Egypt's foreign minister. So their prime minister.
- 17:27Speaker 3: I don't want to butcher his name. I'm just going
- 17:28Speaker 3: to say his last name, Abdullati. I believe that's it.
- 17:31Speaker 3: He received a Lego Great Pyramid of Giza from the
- 17:36Speaker 3: Danish foreign minister, Lars. Again, I don't want to butcher
- 17:39Speaker 3: his last name. So Lars gave Abdulladi the Lego set,
- 17:43Speaker 3: which is the Great Pyramid, simply because he's from Egypt. Now,
- 17:48Speaker 3: I know that sounds so silly. You're like, these two
- 17:50Speaker 3: grown men are giving each other Lego sets.
- 17:53Speaker 2: Legos of all things.
- 17:53Speaker 3: However, if you know me at all, you know I
- 17:57Speaker 3: freaking love Legos, okay? I am a kid at heart
- 18:01Speaker 3: with adult money now, and I can buy whatever I want,
- 18:03Speaker 3: and so for me, I bought Star Wars Legos galore,
- 18:07Speaker 3: especially during COVID when I was just bored out of
- 18:09Speaker 3: my mind.
- 18:09Speaker 2: Right, it's something to do.
- 18:11Speaker 3: It's so much fun. And I will say for all
- 18:12Speaker 3: the haters out there, a lot of you people, these
- 18:14Speaker 3: Lego sets say 18 plus, okay? So ha, you can't
- 18:18Speaker 3: have them as a kid. You have to be an
- 18:19Speaker 3: adult to build them.
- 18:20Speaker 1: Yes.
- 18:21Speaker 2: I had no idea.
- 18:21Speaker 3: It just made me think, Nina, for you, what do you,
- 18:24Speaker 3: what is a silly kind of stupid gift that you
- 18:27Speaker 3: would get that would literally just make your day? And
- 18:30Speaker 3: I do want to throw this out to the text line.
- 18:31Speaker 3: Call us, text us 303-691-1649. What silly gift would you
- 18:35Speaker 3: want or have you gotten that just made your day? Okay.
- 18:39Speaker 1: This is going to be just absolutely ridiculous. And it
- 18:42Speaker 1: definitely stems from childhood. Like This is something you want,
- 18:45Speaker 1: but you never really had it.
- 18:47Speaker 2: I would love a Barbie house.
- 18:50Speaker 3: Oh, my gosh. Okay, those things were sick. I would
- 18:52Speaker 3: love one. Those things were so detailed. They had so
- 18:56Speaker 3: many different rooms you could play in. You never got one?
- 18:58Speaker 1: Well, I did back in the day, but I feel
- 19:00Speaker 1: like it was very basic, and then I never got, like,
- 19:02Speaker 1: the add-ons, you know?
- 19:04Speaker 3: Oh, okay.
- 19:05Speaker 1: And now I've seen so many, like, creative TikToks of, like,
- 19:08Speaker 1: here's how you can wallpaper your Barbie dream house and
- 19:12Speaker 1: like different things.
- 19:12Speaker 2: And like, that's the part. Like, I think I would
- 19:15Speaker 2: just hyper fixate.
- 19:16Speaker 1: On designing my ideal, perfect mansion. Like if I could
- 19:22Speaker 1: have one, but it wouldn't actually be mine. It would
- 19:23Speaker 1: just be a Barbie, Barbie dream house.
- 19:25Speaker 3: So fully adult married, grown arse Nina is going to
- 19:29Speaker 3: be sitting down in her living room, wallpapering her Barbie
- 19:32Speaker 3: Nina house. Yes. Yes.
- 19:34Speaker 2: And I have a, actually, I have a toy from
- 19:37Speaker 2: my childhood.
- 19:38Speaker 1: I was never allowed to open, and then my mom
- 19:40Speaker 1: gave it to me as an adult, and I definitely
- 19:42Speaker 1: opened it. It was a collector's edition Barbie. It was
- 19:46Speaker 1: a Selena Quintanilla Barbie doll.
- 19:49Speaker 3: You opened that? thing's probably worth like $ 10, 000 now if
- 19:52Speaker 3: it's in the box.
- 19:53Speaker 2: Not really. I looked it up online.
- 19:54Speaker 1: It was like $ 20, 000.
- 19:56Speaker 4: Oh, okay.
- 19:56Speaker 3: Well, you know, hey, 20 bucks, though. That's a free
- 19:58Speaker 3: lunch for you. I know, right, right.
- 19:59Speaker 2: But no, I totally opened it. I was like, let
- 20:01Speaker 2: me look it up first. I looked it up first,
- 20:03Speaker 2: and I was like, eh.
- 20:03Speaker 3: Okay, you're smart.
- 20:04Speaker 2: No, it's okay. I'll just keep it. But I got
- 20:06Speaker 2: to open.
- 20:06Speaker 1: It up, and I brushed her hair for the first
- 20:08Speaker 1: time ever in my life.
- 20:10Speaker 2: That's cute.
- 20:10Speaker 1: Like, I've had this Barbie since I was... probably seven.
- 20:14Speaker 2: Or eight years old.
- 20:15Speaker 3: Why did your mom kind of withhold it from you?
- 20:17Speaker 2: Because she thought it was going to be worth a
- 20:18Speaker 2: million dollars later.
- 20:19Speaker 3: So it's like the Beanie Baby thing where everybody's like,
- 20:23Speaker 3: in 2064, this Beanie Baby is going to be worth
- 20:24Speaker 3: seven grand.
- 20:25Speaker 2: One million percent.
- 20:27Speaker 3: Yes.
- 20:28Speaker 1: And she also had a Beanie Baby collection that she
- 20:30Speaker 1: pretended was mine, but I never saw them again. But yeah,
- 20:34Speaker 1: so I've opened up that Barbie and then I would
- 20:36Speaker 1: just make Selena's dream house.
- 20:38Speaker 2: Are you kidding me?
- 20:39Speaker 3: That's cute. I like that. And it's kind of the
- 20:41Speaker 3: same thing with me. Like when I was younger, I
- 20:43Speaker 3: wanted so many Lego sets and these Lego sets are
- 20:45Speaker 3: freaking expensive. There's so much money. And so my parents
- 20:49Speaker 3: were like, Hey, we got five kids to fend for.
- 20:51Speaker 3: Like you're not going to get the $ 800 millennium Falcon.
- 20:54Speaker 3: So what did I do when I got adult money?
- 20:56Speaker 3: I bought that $ 800 Millennium Falcon, Nina. You bet I
- 20:59Speaker 3: built that too.
- 20:59Speaker 2: Yes, you did.
- 21:00Speaker 1: We got a text coming in on the text line.
- 21:03Speaker 1: Alicia says that she was going to say Barbie Dreamhouse
- 21:06Speaker 1: as well or Polly Pockets.
- 21:08Speaker 2: I would settle for a Polly Pocket too.
- 21:11Speaker 3: My sister, this is the dumbest thing I'm ever going
- 21:13Speaker 3: to say on air. My sister loved Polly Pockets.
- 21:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:16Speaker 3: I would take those Polly Pockets. You know how you
- 21:17Speaker 3: can dress them in different clothes?
- 21:19Speaker 2: Yes.
- 21:20Speaker 3: And the clothes were like rubber. Yeah. Yeah. I would
- 21:24Speaker 3: chew on the clothes like they were gum. And that
- 21:27Speaker 3: plastic tasted so good.
- 21:28Speaker 2: A lot of kids did. I'm not going to lie.
- 21:31Speaker 3: I'm pretty sure I've swallowed a bunch of pair of
- 21:32Speaker 3: Polly Pocket boots.
- 21:34Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, I love it. Someone else texted in
- 21:37Speaker 1: a koosh ball. I don't know what that is, but
- 21:38Speaker 1: I would keep it at my desk at work. I
- 21:39Speaker 1: feel like it's a squishy type of thing.
- 21:42Speaker 3: Poosh ball. I know what that is. Hold on. It's the... No, no, no.
- 21:46Speaker 3: It's the ball that you can... It has like a
- 21:48Speaker 3: thousand different strings and they're rubber and you can pull them.
- 21:50Speaker 2: Oh, those are fun.
- 21:51Speaker 3: You can pull them. I probably swallowed some of that
- 21:53Speaker 3: rubber too. Yeah. This is explaining so much of my
- 21:55Speaker 3: brain right now.
- 21:56Speaker 2: It's like a fidget toy. It is, yeah.
- 21:58Speaker 1: Shani says, for me, a giraffe anything. So maybe giraffe stuffy,
- 22:02Speaker 1: something like that.
- 22:03Speaker 2: I love it. All these texts are rolling in. Tell
- 22:05Speaker 2: us what would be like.
- 22:07Speaker 1: a gift that you received that you would just go
- 22:09Speaker 1: crazy over.
- 22:10Speaker 2: Maybe it was something from your childhood.
- 22:11Speaker 3: 303-691-1649.
- 22:11Speaker 2: Text us. We would love to see. What you would
- 22:18Speaker 2: love to have.
- 22:19Speaker 3: It's time to wake up and wise up.
- 22:21Speaker 2: Am I in trouble? It's the Pop Quiz Hot Seat.
- 22:25Speaker 3: Attention, everyone. On Denver's Morning Show.
- 22:28Speaker 2: With Nina and Josh.
- 22:29Speaker 1: Jennifer and Thornton, good morning. We're playing Pop Quiz Hot Seat.
- 22:34Speaker 1: How's your day going so far?
- 22:36Speaker 3: It's going good.
- 22:37Speaker 2: Good.
- 22:38Speaker 1: The sky's all kind of like purpley right now. We
- 22:40Speaker 1: got some cloud action going on. But I think because
- 22:43Speaker 1: of a purple sky, that means good luck.
- 22:45Speaker 3: Okay, sounds good.
- 22:46Speaker 2: Okay, here's your first question.
- 22:48Speaker 1: Which American state is the largest by area?
- 22:54Speaker 3: Alaska.
- 22:55Speaker 2: Alaska, yes. Your second question.
- 22:59Speaker 1: Which technology company bought Whole Foods in 2017?
- 23:04Speaker 3: Amazon.
- 23:05Speaker 2: Amazon's correct. Your third question.
- 23:07Speaker 1: In what movie did Dolly Parton star with Julia Roberts
- 23:12Speaker 1: and Sally Field?
- 23:14Speaker 3: Steel Magnolias.
- 23:15Speaker 2: That's correct. Did you see Sally Field's speech at the
- 23:19Speaker 2: Emmys the other night?
- 23:20Speaker 3: I did. It was wonderful.
- 23:22Speaker 2: I know. So, so good.
- 23:23Speaker 1: And fourth question, which part of the human body has
- 23:28Speaker 1: the most bones in it?
- 23:31Speaker 3: The hand.
- 23:32Speaker 2: The hand is correct.
- 23:33Speaker 1: They have one more bone than the feet do.
- 23:36Speaker 2: So you got it.
- 23:37Speaker 1: Your fifth question, what is the name of the fictional
- 23:41Speaker 1: city where Batman lives? Gotham.
- 23:44Speaker 2: Yes.
- 23:45Speaker 1: Your sixth question, which river runs through the Grand Canyon?
- 23:50Speaker 1: The Colorado.
- 23:51Speaker 2: Yes. And your final.
- 23:52Speaker 1: Question, what type of animal is the Buc-ee's mascot?
- 23:57Speaker 3: A beaver.
- 23:58Speaker 4: Beaver.
- 23:59Speaker 3: Yes.
- 23:59Speaker 2: Congratulations. You won the Pop Quiz Hot Seat.
- 24:04Speaker 3: Awesome.
- 24:06Speaker 1: We're going to get you these tickets to go join
- 24:08Speaker 1: Big Rob at Anderson Farms next Saturday, September 26th for
- 24:13Speaker 1: the Mix 100 Monster Bash. And you get those VIP
- 24:15Speaker 1: tickets to Terror in the Corn.
- 24:17Speaker 4: Fascinating.
- 24:19Speaker 1: That is awesome.
- 24:20Speaker 2: It's always a fun time out there.
- 24:22Speaker 1: So bring your comfy shoes, though, because Terror in the Corn,
- 24:25Speaker 1: it's a long ways to go, but it's so much fun.
- 24:28Speaker 3: Okay, sounds fantastic.
- 24:30Speaker 2: And tell me what station is making you a winner.
- 24:32Speaker 3: Mix 100.
- 24:34Speaker 1: Three things you need to know before you go into
- 24:35Speaker 1: the office today, including if you live in Castle Rock
- 24:38Speaker 1: and your power has gone out this week, it is
- 24:40Speaker 1: because Castle Rock apparently has a squirrel problem. Both on
- 24:44Speaker 1: Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, two different squirrels caused
- 24:49Speaker 1: power outages at the same substation in Castle Rock.
- 24:53Speaker 3: Are they hiding their nuts there? What's going on?
- 24:54Speaker 2: Maybe, maybe.
- 24:56Speaker 3: I don't know. Are these squirrels still with us?
- 24:58Speaker 2: Well, we'll get to that.
- 24:59Speaker 4: So Core Electric Cooperative confirmed that it was because of
- 25:04Speaker 4: squirrels causing explosions.
- 25:06Speaker 3: Oh, they're not with us.
- 25:07Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't think that they are.
- 25:10Speaker 3: Oh, my Lord. Oh, that's kind of sad.
- 25:12Speaker 2: I know. Exactly.
- 25:13Speaker 1: And the fact that it happened two days in a row,
- 25:16Speaker 1: I'm assuming two different squirrels.
- 25:18Speaker 2: I guess that's not confirmed.
- 25:19Speaker 1: But like when they're saying the word explosion, it's like
- 25:22Speaker 1: these squirrels are probably not with us anymore.
- 25:24Speaker 3: No. Oh, you know what?
- 25:25Speaker 2: They're small creatures.
- 25:26Speaker 3: Hold on. A member of the family was just reached
- 25:28Speaker 3: out to, and they said it's been a shocking experience
- 25:30Speaker 3: for them all.
- 25:31Speaker 2: Shut up!
- 25:32Speaker 3: Oh, no!
- 25:33Speaker 2: Stop right now!
- 25:35Speaker 3: Hey, it's the quote. I'm just reading it, Nina. I'm
- 25:36Speaker 3: just reading it.
- 25:37Speaker 1: But yeah, Castle Rock, if you had some power outages,
- 25:41Speaker 1: it's literally because a couple of squirrels.
- 25:43Speaker 2: And this happened to me one time in my high school.
- 25:45Speaker 1: Middle of the day, I was in gym class, and
- 25:48Speaker 1: power went out, and it was because a squirrel caused
- 25:50Speaker 1: an explosion.
- 25:51Speaker 2: This apparently happens sometimes.
- 25:52Speaker 3: What is going on? Does the power lines taste good
- 25:55Speaker 3: or something? It might.
- 25:56Speaker 2: There's something, I think, that attracts them.
- 25:58Speaker 1: And the thing is, is Core Electric said that they've
- 26:00Speaker 1: worked with wildlife programs to try to keep critters and
- 26:04Speaker 1: birds out of their equipment.
- 26:05Speaker 3: Well, yeah, they're the ones that reach out to the
- 26:06Speaker 3: squirrel family. They're trying. They're talking with them. They are. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 26:10Speaker 2: But they've done everything that they're supposed to do. But
- 26:12Speaker 2: you know what?
- 26:13Speaker 1: Sometimes those persistent little squirrels, they're going to wiggle their
- 26:15Speaker 1: way through.
- 26:16Speaker 3: Persistent little suckers, huh? Yeah. Well, that's a bummer for
- 26:19Speaker 3: the squirrels and a hilarious story. I'm sorry for.
- 26:22Speaker 2: Laughing to the squirrel family that lost their two loved ones.
- 26:24Speaker 3: I know. Poor squirrels. Nina, I want to tell you
- 26:26Speaker 3: Capri Sun has been a favorite drink of children for
- 26:30Speaker 3: decades now. Forever. It's one of the best drinks, but
- 26:32Speaker 3: it's gone in a sip, which sucks. Capri Sun is
- 26:36Speaker 3: finally listening to what everyone has been telling them to
- 26:40Speaker 3: do essentially since the dawn of time. Make the pouches work. bigger.
- 26:44Speaker 3: I love it. And guess what? They're finally doing it.
- 26:47Speaker 3: They are now. Yes. They're now testing out a new
- 26:50Speaker 3: pouch called the big pouch aptly named, right? I mean, what? Yeah.
- 26:53Speaker 3: They really went out on a limb with that one. However,
- 26:55Speaker 3: this one is nine inches tall and six inches wide,
- 26:58Speaker 3: and it can hold 20 ounces of the drink, which
- 27:01Speaker 3: is three times the amount of the original. And I
- 27:05Speaker 3: love that. The weird thing about this is they're also refillable. Oh,
- 27:08Speaker 3: that's interesting to me. And When you do buy these,
- 27:11Speaker 3: you get a coupon for more Capri Suns with each purchase.
- 27:13Speaker 3: And these ones are only $ 6 each, okay?
- 27:15Speaker 1: Okay, so if this is refillable, I like that because,
- 27:17Speaker 1: you know, the idea of a bigger plastic pouch just
- 27:20Speaker 1: feels very wasteful to me.
- 27:21Speaker 3: Yes.
- 27:22Speaker 1: But because they are refillable, I'm assuming they want you
- 27:25Speaker 1: to refill it with more Capri Sun.
- 27:27Speaker 2: Are they starting to sell that by the jug now?
- 27:29Speaker 2: How does that work?
- 27:30Speaker 3: I don't know yet. This is all in the test
- 27:31Speaker 3: market right now. So I'm not sure. I'll reach out
- 27:33Speaker 3: to Capri Sun. You know what? We'll reach out. Please do.
- 27:36Speaker 3: I do like this idea. Like I said, I mean,
- 27:38Speaker 3: I'll even have a Capri Sun as an adult. I
- 27:39Speaker 3: love them. I think they're great. They taste really good.
- 27:42Speaker 3: But it's literally one swig and they're gone. So if
- 27:44Speaker 3: you're going to get a bigger one, I don't know.
- 27:46Speaker 3: I'm all for it. I like that. I do think
- 27:49Speaker 3: that you have to buy the Capri Suns. Yeah, I'm
- 27:53Speaker 3: reading this right now. You have to buy the Capri
- 27:54Speaker 3: Suns with the container. So the big pouch is empty.
- 28:00Speaker 3: I don't know if I like that.
- 28:01Speaker 2: And then you buy, like, a jug of Capri Sun.
- 28:03Speaker 3: Yes, that's essentially what they're trying to get you to do.
- 28:05Speaker 3: I don't know. I kind of wanted it filled to
- 28:06Speaker 3: begin with.
- 28:07Speaker 1: Well, you know, if it's refillable, you could add a
- 28:09Speaker 1: little extra something in with your Capri Sun.
- 28:11Speaker 2: I'm just saying. Make it a party.
- 28:13Speaker 3: Nina.
- 28:14Speaker 2: Anyway.
- 28:14Speaker 3: You don't think we've done that already? Come on. We've
- 28:16Speaker 3: been doing that for years, too. All right.
- 28:18Speaker 1: Okay, the third thing you need to know is the
- 28:21Speaker 1: first true snowfall has officially hit Colorado. I hate to
- 28:24Speaker 1: say it, but over in Leadville, Mount Massive... It was
- 28:28Speaker 1: covered this week, and while that seems a little crazy
- 28:32Speaker 1: down here in Denver, because yesterday was 90. I know
- 28:34Speaker 1: today it's going to be cooled down a little bit,
- 28:36Speaker 1: but yesterday was still pretty hot.
- 28:39Speaker 2: But yeah, typically the.
- 28:41Speaker 1: First snowfall in Colorado for Mount Massive and the first 14ers,
- 28:46Speaker 1: it happens late August, and now the third week of September,
- 28:49Speaker 1: it's already late.
- 28:50Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a little concerning, but it's on trend.
- 28:54Speaker 3: We've talked about how this has been like the hottest
- 28:56Speaker 3: record or hottest summer on record for Colorado. I love snow.
- 29:01Speaker 3: I don't know. I'm in the minority here. I absolutely
- 29:04Speaker 3: adore snow. I love when we get massive amounts of it.
- 29:07Speaker 3: I miss it. So this makes me very happy. You're excited.
- 29:10Speaker 2: You're ready for it.
- 29:11Speaker 3: I hate to say the cliche, but Nina, we need
- 29:13Speaker 3: the moisture. We need it.
- 29:14Speaker 2: Okay, Dad. Fine.
- 29:15Speaker 1: Paris Jackson, the daughter of Michael Jackson, is requesting that
- 29:20Speaker 1: Michael's estate pay $ 1 million.
- 29:23Speaker 2: For attorney fees, but they don't want to. This story
- 29:27Speaker 2: is really interesting.
- 29:28Speaker 1: So Michael Jackson's estate is run by one person right now.
- 29:32Speaker 2: His name is John Branca. He's an entertainment attorney.
- 29:36Speaker 1: And he tried to give himself and a couple other
- 29:39Speaker 1: lawyers on the team a $ 625, 000 bonus.
- 29:42Speaker 2: Nice guy.
- 29:43Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 29:43Speaker 1: And Paris was like, uh-uh, I don't think so. She objected,
- 29:49Speaker 1: took him to court, and she won that case. But
- 29:51Speaker 1: now she wants her legal fees for that covered with $ 1.
- 29:54Speaker 2: 16 million.
- 29:55Speaker 3: Wow.
- 29:57Speaker 1: And now the estate is arguing that no way those
- 30:00Speaker 1: fees are way too high.
- 30:01Speaker 2: We'll give you something, but not over a million dollars.
- 30:05Speaker 3: Hmm.
- 30:06Speaker 2: I know this case is so weird.
- 30:08Speaker 3: Why did John get to run the estate? First of all,
- 30:11Speaker 3: I want to know more about him. Why is he
- 30:13Speaker 3: in charge? Why did it not go to his children?
- 30:16Speaker 1: If you think about Michael Jackson's family, he probably felt
- 30:20Speaker 1: that his family wasn't capable of handling his estate in
- 30:23Speaker 1: that way.
- 30:24Speaker 3: I get that, but it's his kids. That's different than
- 30:26Speaker 3: his parents.
- 30:27Speaker 1: Well, his kids are beneficiaries of the estate. They still
- 30:30Speaker 1: do get some money from that, but they were still
- 30:33Speaker 1: very much children when he passed away, so they couldn't
- 30:36Speaker 1: handle it at that point. So it went to this guy,
- 30:39Speaker 1: this entertainment attorney, John Branca, and he's still on it
- 30:42Speaker 1: because he was there from the get. So it's just
- 30:45Speaker 1: a whole weird thing, and now that Paris... And all
- 30:48Speaker 1: of the children, the Jackson children, they are adults. You
- 30:52Speaker 1: would think that maybe it could have been handed over
- 30:54Speaker 1: to them. But that was probably not something that was
- 30:56Speaker 1: written in the original deal. And so it's nearly impossible
- 31:00Speaker 1: for them to have things switched over.
- 31:02Speaker 3: Well, and if you think about it, Michael did die
- 31:04Speaker 3: as a relatively young man. He was like 50 or 51.
- 31:06Speaker 3: So he still probably thought. He had some life to
- 31:09Speaker 3: live and go and things like that. It's a sad situation.
- 31:12Speaker 2: It really is.
- 31:13Speaker 1: But it's just weird that she had to sue his
- 31:16Speaker 1: lawyers because they wanted a pay bump. And now she's
- 31:19Speaker 1: paying for her lawyers by suing.
- 31:20Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 31:21Speaker 1: It's just a whole messed up case. So Paris Jackson
- 31:24Speaker 1: dealing with a lot over there.
- 31:25Speaker 3: Everybody's suing everybody. Well, Nina, if you ever think you're
- 31:27Speaker 3: too old to live out a childhood dream, you are wrong.
- 31:31Speaker 3: You can really do. Anything you put your mind to.
- 31:33Speaker 3: And this man, a 48-year-old man named Justin Buzzard, is
- 31:38Speaker 3: living proof of that. Buzzard, who is a pastor by day,
- 31:42Speaker 3: has just recently made his college football debut.
- 31:46Speaker 2: Okay.
- 31:47Speaker 3: What? He's with the San Jose City College Jaguars. And
- 31:50Speaker 3: it has been 30 years since Justin had last played
- 31:53Speaker 3: a snap of football because, I don't know, Injuries unfortunately
- 31:56Speaker 3: shut him down in his playing dreams, or so he thought, Nina.
- 32:00Speaker 3: Buzzard said that a viral video of a 60-year-old cancer
- 32:03Speaker 3: survivor trying to play D3 football after he went into
- 32:06Speaker 3: remission inspired him to give it another shot. He was
- 32:10Speaker 3: quoted saying, look, if you're not risking, you're rusting. First
- 32:13Speaker 3: of all, love that quote. He is now the oldest
- 32:16Speaker 3: active college football player. He's married and has three kids.
- 32:20Speaker 3: He plays defensive end for the Jaguars. And where's number 48?
- 32:24Speaker 3: Why does he wear number 48, Nina? Because he just
- 32:27Speaker 3: turned 48 this month.
- 32:29Speaker 2: Wow.
- 32:30Speaker 1: I mean, good for him. But like 48 years old
- 32:33Speaker 1: playing college football.
- 32:34Speaker 2: That's insane.
- 32:34Speaker 3: Crazy. The fact that he can even like keep up
- 32:36Speaker 3: with these other 18 to 21 year olds is wild.
- 32:39Speaker 3: But this is also for every man in the entire
- 32:42Speaker 3: world that has looked at a team and been like,
- 32:44Speaker 3: I bet I could still suit up. Or if coach
- 32:46Speaker 3: would have put me in fourth quarter, we'd have been
- 32:48Speaker 3: state champs. So good for you, Justin. Hats off to you, man.
- 32:52Speaker 3: Stay healthy. And that is a sweet dream that a
- 32:55Speaker 3: man is realizing 30 years later.
- 32:57Speaker 2: His kids are all in the stand. That's so cute.
- 32:59Speaker 3: I love it. They said his wife was in the
- 33:00Speaker 3: stand watching him play too. Like it's an adorable little story.
- 33:03Speaker 2: That's good.
- 33:04Speaker 1: An actress, Amanda Seyfried, is getting a divorce after nine
- 33:08Speaker 1: years of marriage. She and her husband, Thomas, are calling
- 33:11Speaker 1: it quits, but unlike most divorces, especially in Hollywood, this
- 33:16Speaker 1: is really, really peaceful, almost as peaceful as it gets.
- 33:19Speaker 1: They released a joint statement together about their divorce, saying that,'
- 33:23Speaker 1: We' ve been separated for a while, and it's been proven
- 33:26Speaker 1: to be the right move for us in our family unit.
- 33:29Speaker 1: We've got each other forever, and it's good.' So the
- 33:32Speaker 1: fact that they even said, like, we still got each
- 33:34Speaker 1: other forever. We're still going to be part of each
- 33:36Speaker 1: other's lives. They're just separated, not romantically together.
- 33:40Speaker 2: That's great.
- 33:40Speaker 1: I mean, they share two kids anyway. They have two
- 33:43Speaker 1: kids together. So you got a co-parent. Yeah, you are
- 33:46Speaker 1: going to be a part of each other's lives forever,
- 33:48Speaker 1: especially when kids are involved. But even separately outside of
- 33:51Speaker 1: that statement, they have both spoken very highly of each other.
- 33:55Speaker 2: And so this, I guess, is a good thing.
- 33:58Speaker 1: You don't normally look at divorce as a good thing,
- 34:00Speaker 1: but this is a good thing.
- 34:02Speaker 3: But I guess this is as mature as it gets
- 34:04Speaker 3: to when two people kind of realize, hey, we are
- 34:07Speaker 3: better off being in separate lives. We still have the children,
- 34:11Speaker 3: so we can co-parent. I mean, so many people, I
- 34:13Speaker 3: feel like, try to force a marriage to work just
- 34:16Speaker 3: because they have kids. So good on Amanda and her
- 34:19Speaker 3: husband to understand, hey, you know what? We're better separate.
- 34:21Speaker 3: We will have the kids forever, and we can co-parent.
- 34:23Speaker 3: I like it.
- 34:24Speaker 2: Yeah, a lot of people can learn from that. I
- 34:25Speaker 2: love that. Good for them.
- 34:26Speaker 1: So Josh, yesterday you were talking about reading and how
- 34:30Speaker 1: it's like six minutes a day of reading can actually
- 34:33Speaker 1: do a lot for you mentally.
- 34:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 34:35Speaker 2: And I was.
- 34:36Speaker 1: Thinking about that, and I'm like, man, I still have
- 34:38Speaker 1: my Denver Public Library card.
- 34:40Speaker 2: Good for you. I do.
- 34:42Speaker 3: I have one.
- 34:42Speaker 1: But I have not stepped into an actual library in forever.
- 34:47Speaker 2: How about you? When's the last time you were in
- 34:49Speaker 2: a library?
- 34:50Speaker 3: Oh, five years old, I believe.
- 34:52Speaker 2: Right?
- 34:53Speaker 3: No, I don't know. It's been a minute for me, too.
- 34:56Speaker 3: But I found an interesting story. Have you, first of all,
- 34:59Speaker 3: let me ask you, have you ever rented something and
- 35:02Speaker 3: forgotten to give it back? It could be a book, DVD,
- 35:04Speaker 3: I know Blockbuster was a thing way back when.
- 35:06Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure.
- 35:08Speaker 3: All of it.
- 35:08Speaker 1: I feel like I still have like a old Netflix CD,
- 35:11Speaker 1: DVD case.
- 35:12Speaker 3: See, exactly. So for me, I remember specifically, I have
- 35:16Speaker 3: a Blockbuster VHS tape of The Rookie with Dennis Quaid.
- 35:21Speaker 3: It's a baseball movie. And then when we wanted to
- 35:23Speaker 3: return it, that Blockbuster closed down. So we just kept it.
- 35:26Speaker 3: So this is like, 15 years overdue. Well, this story
- 35:30Speaker 3: coming out, a man named John Hansen has a massive
- 35:33Speaker 3: bookshelf and he has a book on there that is
- 35:36Speaker 3: held together with tape on the spine. It doesn't, you know,
- 35:40Speaker 3: stand out to anybody, right? This guy had a book
- 35:44Speaker 3: that was overdue for a Concord Public Library by 48,220 days.
- 35:53Speaker 3: Otherwise known as 132 years overdue. And he just found
- 35:59Speaker 3: this out this last week.
- 36:01Speaker 1: How?
- 36:01Speaker 3: That would amass a fine of $ 12, 055. that the library
- 36:07Speaker 3: could have charged this man because of this overdue library book.
- 36:11Speaker 3: He says he doesn't even know where he got it.
- 36:13Speaker 3: He said his father was a resident of Concord and
- 36:17Speaker 3: that he might have gotten the book literally 132 years ago. However,
- 36:21Speaker 3: when he did finally bring this book back, the library said, hey,
- 36:26Speaker 3: you know what? We're not going to charge you because A,
- 36:28Speaker 3: You're not the one who originally checked this book out,
- 36:31Speaker 3: so thank God for John, right? $ 12, 000 for an overdue book? No.
- 36:37Speaker 1: I mean, we've seen these stories before of overdue. It
- 36:40Speaker 1: was like 20 years, and then they paid.
- 36:42Speaker 2: They did.
- 36:42Speaker 1: It was essentially a donation, but paid the library like
- 36:45Speaker 1: $ 500 or something like that.
- 36:47Speaker 3: Good for them. Which is good, but- Over a century?
- 36:50Speaker 1: Yeah, that's insane. When you first said 132 years.
- 36:54Speaker 2: I was like, how old is this man? What's his secret?
- 36:56Speaker 3: What do you mean? This guy's 164. No, but the
- 36:59Speaker 3: volume itself of the book is called the Century Illustrated
- 37:03Speaker 3: Monthly Magazine. So I guess it's a magazine slash book,
- 37:06Speaker 3: but it was printed in September of 1894.
- 37:10Speaker 2: That's insane.
- 37:12Speaker 1: I don't even know how that happens. But like you said,
- 37:14Speaker 1: if his dad did it before, but it's all taped
- 37:17Speaker 1: up and stuff. At that point, why would you even
- 37:19Speaker 1: take it back to the library?
- 37:20Speaker 3: Just to say you did it. You're a good man.
- 37:23Speaker 3: That's good karma, right?
- 37:24Speaker 1: I think so. And honestly, I feel like that book,
- 37:27Speaker 1: he should Google it. I feel like it would be
- 37:28Speaker 1: worth some money. And then maybe he could sell it
- 37:31Speaker 1: and then donate that money to the library.
- 37:33Speaker 3: Okay, full circle there. I get it.
- 37:35Speaker 2: Oh, it's sweet.
- 37:36Speaker 1: Three things you need to know before you go into
- 37:38Speaker 1: the office, like the Denver Broncos teaming up with local schools.
- 37:43Speaker 1: to battle absenteeism in school.
- 37:46Speaker 2: That's a big word. I know. I was like, is
- 37:48Speaker 2: that a real word?
- 37:49Speaker 3: You need to go to school to learn that word.
- 37:50Speaker 2: I know, it is. I Googled it. That's a real word.
- 37:52Speaker 1: Okay, cool.
- 37:53Speaker 3: Cool, cool, cool.
- 37:53Speaker 2: They're trying to avoid kids being absent to class.
- 37:57Speaker 3: I love it. That's cool. That's a really cool thing.
- 37:59Speaker 1: Yeah, so they're taking from the Cleveland Browns, which found
- 38:02Speaker 1: success for a similar program over in Ohio.
- 38:06Speaker 2: And we have.
- 38:06Speaker 1: 53 schools locally across 13 districts. that have already signed
- 38:11Speaker 1: up for this program with the Denver Broncos. And when
- 38:14Speaker 1: kids reach certain attendance goals, they are rewarded with a
- 38:18Speaker 1: variety of different things like celebrations held with the Broncos cheerleaders.
- 38:23Speaker 2: Miles comes by.
- 38:27Speaker 1: They have current and former Broncos players that come into
- 38:30Speaker 1: the schools to hang out with them, talk with them,
- 38:32Speaker 1: and take pictures with them. And this has worked at
- 38:35Speaker 1: other schools in different states. So The Broncos and schools
- 38:38Speaker 1: here in Denver and in Aurora and everywhere else, they
- 38:41Speaker 1: are excited to see the results because I guess it's
- 38:44Speaker 1: kind of been a problem.
- 38:46Speaker 2: Kids just not showing up to class.
- 38:47Speaker 3: Yeah, this was something that always scared me as a kid.
- 38:49Speaker 3: I literally never ditched classes. I never didn't show up.
- 38:53Speaker 3: I was very scared. But I understand there are many
- 38:56Speaker 3: different reasons as to why people can't make it to
- 38:59Speaker 3: school or to class. And I understand it's not always
- 39:01Speaker 3: just ditching. There's several different reasons. So I get that.
- 39:03Speaker 3: This is a good thing. This is something... As long
- 39:06Speaker 3: as the kids are in school, they will keep on learning.
- 39:08Speaker 3: And that is huge, especially for the state of Colorado.
- 39:11Speaker 2: Absolutely. So I'm happy the Broncos are doing that.
- 39:13Speaker 3: Nina, I don't know what the heck is going on
- 39:15Speaker 3: in Japan or what they're putting in the water here,
- 39:18Speaker 3: but those people are doing it right. For the first
- 39:21Speaker 3: time in recorded history, they have now surpassed 100,000 centurions. Now,
- 39:28Speaker 3: what that means, they have... over 100,000 people at the
- 39:32Speaker 3: age of 100 or older in their census. That's nearly
- 39:36Speaker 3: up 8,000 from last year. And then it has continually,
- 39:40Speaker 3: continually risen over for the 56th straight year that people
- 39:46Speaker 3: are getting older and older and older there. Their average
- 39:49Speaker 3: life expectancy is now 84, while the U.S. 's is
- 39:52Speaker 3: just 79.
- 39:54Speaker 2: Wow, that is impressive.
- 39:55Speaker 3: I know, I don't love that because I want to
- 39:58Speaker 3: be into the century mark. I think that'd be so
- 40:00Speaker 3: cool to live past that, to the century mark and beyond.
- 40:04Speaker 3: This is interesting, though, because Japan is living so much
- 40:06Speaker 3: older and the aging population is kind of straining the
- 40:10Speaker 3: economy because no one's having kids there. This is an
- 40:14Speaker 3: actual thing. They need to start kind of getting freaky
- 40:17Speaker 3: again and fix this ASAP because they are going to
- 40:19Speaker 3: start outliving the babies being born. Interesting. And, you know,
- 40:23Speaker 3: Japan actually has a thing where American men... can go
- 40:26Speaker 3: to Japan and essentially get with Japanese women.
- 40:30Speaker 2: To have babies?
- 40:31Speaker 3: So that they can have babies and repopulate Japan. Like,
- 40:33Speaker 3: this is that much of a problem. They're like, come
- 40:36Speaker 3: to Japan and get us pregnant, essentially.
- 40:37Speaker 2: Wow, I did not know that.
- 40:39Speaker 3: It's a crazy thing, but it's an incentive for a
- 40:41Speaker 3: lot of people. I don't know why, but hey, you
- 40:44Speaker 3: know what? Go have kids in Japan. It's great.
- 40:46Speaker 2: Travel and go have some babies. All right. This is insane.
- 40:51Speaker 1: Paramount Studios in California, they've all of a sudden thrown
- 40:54Speaker 1: their hands up and they have threatened to move out
- 40:58Speaker 1: of Hollywood. Now, we're talking like the Paramount Studios. Yes.
- 41:02Speaker 3: Big time.
- 41:03Speaker 2: It's huge. And not only has it.
- 41:04Speaker 1: Been there historically just for a long time, it also
- 41:07Speaker 1: provides a lot of jobs in California. So- The reason
- 41:10Speaker 1: why this is kind of all being thrown out there
- 41:13Speaker 1: is Paramount has been negotiating with California officials. And they're saying,
- 41:18Speaker 1: you know what, we might just move, forget you guys,
- 41:21Speaker 1: because Paramount has pressure to merge with Warner Brothers. And California,
- 41:27Speaker 1: the state, they're like, you better do this to make
- 41:29Speaker 1: some money. Otherwise, why are we even keeping you here?
- 41:33Speaker 1: So they're kind of fighting with each other back and forth.
- 41:35Speaker 3: Dang.
- 41:36Speaker 1: And yesterday it was reported that, yeah, Paramount is leaving,
- 41:39Speaker 1: but then they kind of rolled back on that.
- 41:41Speaker 2: But supposedly we will know within the.
- 41:43Speaker 1: Next 48 hours if Paramount Studios is indeed staying in California.
- 41:48Speaker 1: And this is a huge deal because, like, this is Hollywood.
- 41:51Speaker 1: This is LA we're talking about.
- 41:53Speaker 3: Essentially every major star has done something with Paramount at
- 41:57Speaker 3: Paramount Studios. They have Studio 42. Like, this is a massive,
- 42:02Speaker 3: massive company. heart of California history, not just movie making history,
- 42:06Speaker 3: but the state itself. Yeah.
- 42:07Speaker 1: Unreal.
- 42:08Speaker 3: It is.
- 42:08Speaker 2: So I don't know. We'll see. Maybe they can move
- 42:10Speaker 2: to Colorado.
- 42:11Speaker 1: I mean, we have the Sundance Film Festival now, so
- 42:13Speaker 1: bring them on over. Josh, last week we created it
- 42:17Speaker 1: for the first time and it's back this week. It's
- 42:19Speaker 1: a weekly thing that we're trying on our website. It's
- 42:22Speaker 1: called the Den 10.
- 42:23Speaker 3: I love this. It's the 10 biggest things plus a
- 42:26Speaker 3: few that are going on this weekend in Denver. Right, Nina?
- 42:29Speaker 1: Yes, exactly. You can find it all at Mix100. com. If
- 42:33Speaker 1: you're unsure of weekend plans, you don't know what's going
- 42:36Speaker 1: on around town, don't worry.
- 42:38Speaker 2: We did the research for you. We found all the
- 42:40Speaker 2: best stuff.
- 42:41Speaker 1: And we put it together on one page so that
- 42:44Speaker 1: you can just make a fun weekend for yourself.
- 42:46Speaker 3: Well, yeah, and let's face it. I mean, I have
- 42:48Speaker 3: a girlfriend, you have a husband. Every time you're just
- 42:50Speaker 3: sitting at home, you're like, what do you want to
- 42:51Speaker 3: do this weekend? And you get the, I don't know,
- 42:53Speaker 3: what do you want to do this weekend? Exactly. That
- 42:55Speaker 3: doesn't have to exist ever again. You can literally look
- 42:58Speaker 3: at multiple really fun things, and a lot of these
- 43:02Speaker 3: are either really cheap or completely free. for you and
- 43:05Speaker 3: the fam to do over the weekend. And I, for one,
- 43:07Speaker 3: love that because I'm trying to save some money, you know?
- 43:09Speaker 2: Yes, exactly.
- 43:11Speaker 1: Like, if you live in Arvada, Park Fest is going on.
- 43:13Speaker 1: It's one of the last dates for that. It's just
- 43:16Speaker 1: live music in the park, right?
- 43:17Speaker 3: It's fantastic.
- 43:18Speaker 2: So that's a free one.
- 43:19Speaker 1: You can get all the info at Mix100. com on that.
- 43:22Speaker 1: That's happening tomorrow on Friday. What's happening Saturday? Let's pick
- 43:25Speaker 1: something from the list.
- 43:26Speaker 3: Yeah, this is awesome. I can tell you right here,
- 43:28Speaker 3: Bear Creek Tasting. If you want to go up to
- 43:30Speaker 3: the high country for a little bit, hit the mountains.
- 43:32Speaker 3: Go taste some great spirits. You got wine and whiskey
- 43:35Speaker 3: tastings there. That's happening Saturday and Sunday this weekend as well. Nice.
- 43:40Speaker 1: And again on Sunday, yoga in the park. They choose
- 43:43Speaker 1: different parks every Sunday to do some yoga. And this
- 43:46Speaker 1: weekend it's happening at Wash Park on Sunday. So you
- 43:50Speaker 1: can get all the info on these events and so
- 43:52Speaker 1: many more. There's way more than 10 on this.
- 43:54Speaker 2: So there's like 20.
- 43:55Speaker 3: We kind of outdid ourselves a little bit. I'm not
- 43:57Speaker 3: going to lie. We kind of did our homework and
- 43:58Speaker 3: went way above and beyond. So pat ourselves on the back.
- 44:01Speaker 2: We absolutely did. Yes.
- 44:02Speaker 1: Check out the Den 10. It is up right now
- 44:05Speaker 1: at mix100. com. And coming up, Josh needs to talk about
- 44:09Speaker 1: a toilet situation. I don't know about this, Josh, but
- 44:13Speaker 1: we'll see. Now, Josh, you're like, hey, we should talk
- 44:17Speaker 1: about this. It has to do with a toilet for insects.
- 44:20Speaker 1: And I'm like, First of all, what are you talking about?
- 44:23Speaker 3: I don't even know what I'm talking about half the time.
- 44:25Speaker 3: I just open my mouth and let them flow. But hey,
- 44:27Speaker 3: this is the thing. We have all read the book,
- 44:30Speaker 3: Everybody Poops, right? Everybody does, okay? And I know it's
- 44:35Speaker 3: taboo to talk about, but researchers do a lot of
- 44:38Speaker 3: research with different things in this planet, okay? Researchers have
- 44:43Speaker 3: now built a 3D printed water repellent funnel that collects
- 44:48Speaker 3: mosquito waste without harming these little insects, okay? So are
- 44:52Speaker 3: you with me?
- 44:53Speaker 1: Kind of. My brain is already like, I never even
- 44:56Speaker 1: thought about mosquito waste before.
- 44:59Speaker 3: No, you're right.
- 44:59Speaker 2: I'm sure that they do, because like you said, everybody poops,
- 45:02Speaker 2: but okay.
- 45:02Speaker 3: Look, I'm not joking. This toilet allows experts to sequence
- 45:06Speaker 3: the genetic material, allowing them to know what diseases could
- 45:10Speaker 3: be spreading from these mosquitoes. Now, this is the thing. Look,
- 45:13Speaker 3: this is not just for fun. It's an actual research experiment.
- 45:18Speaker 3: product coming underway right now. Now the 3D printed thing
- 45:21Speaker 3: collects their waste. Waste from wild mosquitoes around New Jersey
- 45:25Speaker 3: was found to contain complete West Nile virus genome along
- 45:29Speaker 3: with other rare viruses and 35 kinds of parasites. So
- 45:34Speaker 3: this is why they're doing it. You understand mosquitoes carry
- 45:37Speaker 3: a lot of diseases because they like to drink our blood.
- 45:40Speaker 2: Right, exactly.
- 45:41Speaker 3: That's exactly what they do. So it sounds strange and
- 45:43Speaker 3: I understand this like having a literal toilet being printed
- 45:47Speaker 3: for mosquitoes to do their business. Who even thinks of that?
- 45:49Speaker 2: I know.
- 45:50Speaker 3: Like truly who thinks of that? For real. But there's
- 45:52Speaker 3: always a way about this. It sounds strange, but research
- 45:55Speaker 3: believed that this toilet technique could be more efficient than
- 45:59Speaker 3: the traditional mosquito surveillance and tracking thing. How do you
- 46:02Speaker 3: track a mosquito?
- 46:03Speaker 1: I don't even know because they're so tiny. It's not
- 46:06Speaker 1: like birds where you can put a little thing on
- 46:08Speaker 1: their foot.
- 46:08Speaker 3: Yeah, you put a tag on them. No, you're not
- 46:10Speaker 3: tagging mosquitoes trying to read what they have. You can't
- 46:13Speaker 3: put them on a leash or anything, but they have
- 46:15Speaker 3: these lab testing methods that only hunt for one suspected
- 46:18Speaker 3: pathogen at the same time. This one actually hunts for multiple.
- 46:24Speaker 3: They're getting more done with each each time they use
- 46:27Speaker 3: the restroom. Let's just say that, okay? Okay. So if
- 46:29Speaker 3: you can get a thousand mosquitoes to use the restroom,
- 46:32Speaker 3: you know, a couple times a day or whatever.
- 46:34Speaker 2: In these funnels.
- 46:34Speaker 3: In this little funnel. Think of a little tiny, teeny,
- 46:37Speaker 3: tiny 3D printed toilet for them to read the newspaper
- 46:39Speaker 3: and do their business.
- 46:40Speaker 2: Right.
- 46:40Speaker 3: It's great. And look, you're probably going to be able
- 46:43Speaker 3: to save lives from this, you know, because you don't
- 46:46Speaker 3: want to get West Nile virus. You can be finding
- 46:49Speaker 3: cures for this stuff. And that's what it's for. It's
- 46:51Speaker 3: not just to watch these little guys die.
- 46:53Speaker 2: Do their thing.
- 46:54Speaker 3: Go number two. Yeah.
- 46:55Speaker 1: But mosquitoes, I mean, mosquitoes, like you said, they do
- 46:58Speaker 1: carry some pretty major, pretty bad diseases. So while this
- 47:03Speaker 1: is silly, like a 3D printed toilet for mosquitoes, question
- 47:06Speaker 1: mark what?
- 47:07Speaker 3: It sounds so dumb.
- 47:08Speaker 2: It is important. It's for important research. So you know what?
- 47:12Speaker 1: Thank you to the scientists who decided they needed to
- 47:14Speaker 1: make a mosquito toilet.
- 47:15Speaker 3: Watch them poop.
- 47:17Speaker 1: Josh, we're wrapping up the show right now. It is
- 47:19Speaker 1: time to admit our wrongs of the day. What did
- 47:22Speaker 1: you get wrong today?
- 47:23Speaker 3: You know what? I'm not only the only one that
- 47:25Speaker 3: got this wrong. The entire United States is getting this wrong. Japan,
- 47:29Speaker 3: we talked earlier, they are doing it right. They have
- 47:32Speaker 3: over 100,000 people living right now that are over 100
- 47:36Speaker 3: years old. And their median age is so much older
- 47:40Speaker 3: than the U.S.'s. I don't understand. We have got to
- 47:42Speaker 3: figure this out because I'm trying to live to be 120, okay?
- 47:44Speaker 3: I mean, I get it.
- 47:45Speaker 2: I'm trying to get there. I get it, but it's
- 47:47Speaker 2: because we love our fast food.
- 47:49Speaker 3: We love our GMOs and our alcohol. I'm like, the
- 47:53Speaker 3: Japanese are like, what are you guys doing?
- 47:55Speaker 2: Come on now. They're like, look at these amateurs over here.
- 47:58Speaker 3: We suck.
- 47:59Speaker 2: So what I got wrong is I thought I got
- 48:01Speaker 2: a really great deal.
- 48:02Speaker 1: I think I'm being brainwashed with financials and money from
- 48:05Speaker 1: the different makeup stores.
- 48:06Speaker 4: You are.
- 48:07Speaker 1: I thought I got a really good deal, seven items
- 48:09Speaker 1: from the makeup store yesterday for $ 150, but that's actually absurd.
- 48:12Speaker 3: Yeah, no, you're crazy. So that's good, and I'm glad
- 48:14Speaker 3: we learned that, because now I know not to trust you.
- 48:16Speaker 2: No, for real. We cannot normalize that. That is not okay.
- 48:20Speaker 3: Hashtag girl math.
- 48:21Speaker 2: I know, for real.
- 48:23Speaker 4: But thank you so much for joining Denver's Morning Show
- 48:26Speaker 4: with Nina and Josh.
