- Micaiah: Hello, everybody. Welcome. Captain Bourne here, host of the Fourth and One podcast. I'm beside my main man, or many towns away, but beside here virtually Robert Okan Queso. We are so glad to be back giving you the worstest podcast on the interwebs. I'm so excited to be here. It's been a few weeks. I hope everyone had a safe and happy 250th America birthday. I hope everyone still has 10 fingers, 10 toes, all eyebrows, all eyes, things that can go missing when fireworks happen to them. it's a good day. It's Friday. It is the 10th of July 2026. At the time of recording, it is 5 06 p.m. I'm in Letters, Pennsylvania. R Roberto here over here. He is in Williamstown, Pennsylvania. So, Rob, how how you doing? Roberto Con Queso: Hey, you know we are hanging in there, trying to stay cool. That is what we are trying to do. Micaiah: Yes, it is hot out there, not as hot out as it was over Fourth of July. Roberto Con Queso: yeah. That was brutal. That was bad. Micaiah: Yeah. Yeah, yeah. I I I'm just gonna kinda take that a as as the segue in and of itself. However yeah, anyone meteorologists are measuring heat wrong, it's wrong. However they're measuring heat is wrong. Roberto Con Queso: Yeah, a hundred percent. When when you walk out of your house Micaiah: Yeah, it it good. Roberto Con Queso: And you are just like legs glued together at seven in the morning because it is just ungodly humid. That like what are we doing? When they said the south was gonna rise again, I didn't know it was gonna be the temperature like their climate. I feel like we're in Georgia. Micaiah: Yeah, it it it's it's rid dude, it's so hot. And like when you walk outside, and what gets me is on the forecast, right, over 4th of July, they're like, it's gonna be 99, but real feel's 114. Well then dang it, man, it's 114 outside. Okay. It's it's not it's not ninety-nine, it's a hundred and fourteen. Just give me the real feel, right? Roberto Con Queso: Yeah. Yeah, a hundred percent. Yeah, if it really feels that way, then that's what the temperature is. Micaiah: Right. Right. And and like today, real humid in Pennsylvania, in south central Pennsylvania. Real humid today. And it might be eighty one, but it feels like it's eighty seven. Then guess what? It's eighty seven. Or it feels like Florida. Just put up feels like Florida. That's fine too. It's yeah, yeah, you are you will have swamp ass. Is that why they call it the swamp? Because when you sit there watching a football game Roberto Con Queso: Yeah. You are in the swamp. Yes. Micaiah: You get swamp ass. Roberto Con Queso: mean it's gotta be you know ha for whatever reason the summer of Pennsylvania now you feel like you have to fight off Shrek to find out where the swamp is. Micaiah: That's the only logical explanation. I was not expecting that, so I took a sip of my drink. Perfectly timed. yeah, so meteorologists, I need you to get it together. And also, I have a bone to pick also with meteorologists, and it this I'm stealing this from the internet because if I was as wrong as meteorologist meteorologists are allowed to be about weather, I would have been fired a long time. Roberto Con Queso: Perfectly timed. Micaiah: Right. Right. You would have been fired a long time ago. They're they're like they're batting not even 50%. Not even 50%. Roberto Con Queso: I guess as long as you're fifty per hey, as long as they're fifty percent right a hundred percent of the time, it works out every time. Micaiah: It works every time. It it works every time to steal the line from Anchorman and and Paul Rudd. What what a what a genius movie. Did you like Anchorman? Is that your type of movie or no? Roberto Con Queso: I like it like one time, but it's not a movie that I can watch over and over and over again. 'Cause it's to me it's funny the first time, but then every time else I'm like, okay, it's really not that funny. Micaiah: Okay. Okay. So it's like one Okay. All right. So you saw it once and that's enough. It's like Napoleon Dynamite. Yeah. Yeah. Also, Napoleon Dynamite, it was worked up to me and my one buddy. He's actually my brother in law now. as hilarious movie. You're gonna drop daddy, it's the funniest movie ever. Me and him watch it and we're like halfway through, we're like, is this supposed to like make us drop on the floor laughing? 'Cause it's not to us that funny. Roberto Con Queso: Yeah, a hundred percent. Micaiah: Until you realize that it's the vibe it's going for. And even then it's like, okay, well that's like humorous, but it's not like ha ha ha ha, you know? Yeah. Yeah, very British humor almost. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. What do you think of A Adam's this is not where I w expected this podcast to go or anyone listening to it for col college football thing is not even on the docket. What do you think of Adam Sandler movies? 'Cause I don't really know what type of movies you prefer. Roberto Con Queso: Yeah. It's a very like dry humor. Yeah. That's why no one likes them. Micaiah: I like a good comedy as long as as long as it's funny. Roberto Con Queso: I like them. Yeah, Adam Sandler movies are fine. They're great. They're 'cause they're funny enough that you can watch it multiple times and it still amuse you. And they're all memorable. Like the only thing I remember from Napoleon Dynamite is Tina eat din eat your dinner. Micaiah: Okay. Mm-hmm. Come on, Tina, you fat lord, go get your dinner. Roberto Con Queso: Yeah. Other than that, like and and vote for Pedro. But like when it comes to an Adam Sandler movie, most people can recite damn near the whole movie. You know what I mean? Micaiah: Vote for Pedro, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I I'm a big sucker like his his old stuff's good, classics. However, the two grown up movies, like, there's something about them that just tickles my funny bone every time, man. Roberto Con Queso: Well, I think it's also because we're reaching that point in our lives where you're kind of almost f like not forming a bond, but you're like, that's kind of that's kind of us. Like Yeah. You know, they do something and automatically they're hurt and it's like ye a hundred percent. You know, you look at a girl and it's creepy. Micaiah: Right, sure. You w we're getting to the age of that. Short. Short. Right. Yeah. Yeah. You just look over it immediate creep. Yeah. Yeah. You're just you're yeah. You're watching a flock of birds and a girl just walks in front of you and now all of a sudden you're in prison. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We got a great show for everyone. If if that's the start of our show, that's it. We're either gonna go uphill or downhill, depending on how you enjoyed that last impromptu Adam Sandler segment there and learning about what kind of movies we like. Roberto Con Queso: Yes. Yes. Cops are called. Hundred percent. Micaiah: So Rob, we got a lot on the dock. You can I'm gonna let you kind of pick the topic where we go next. We got a lot going on. It's a gonna be a great show. So everyone just buckle in and hang on, or it's gonna be a terrible show. And if you're here for the train wreck, that's great. Share that with your family and friends, because that's what we are as well. So where are we starting out, Rob? Roberto Con Queso: Well I'll tell you what, we'll start off first letter in the alphabet, the letter A. And what goes at A? A C C. The A C C conference this year. Micaiah: Okay. Okay. So the ACC conference I think gets picked on. I th I think as a college football fan, we both can realize that the ACC conference gets picked on for being the most less than conference between the big power four. Is that fair to say? 'Cause that's kind of what I feel. Roberto Con Queso: I I would say the big twelve. Micaiah: Okay, all right. Well, that that's a that's a fair point. Why do you think why do you think the Big Twelve over the ACC? Why don't we just start there and Roberto Con Queso: So I feel with the ACC, we kind of knew who was coming out. We knew it was either going to be like Clemson, Miami, or like there was a third dark horse. But we generally knew, okay, Georgia Tech wasn't going to be in it, Virginia wasn't going to be in it, Cal Stanford, we knew they weren't going to be in it. So it wasn't wide open. Where the Big 12, there hasn't really been a front runner, a guaranteed front runner for the past I don't know, five years, six years? So that's just been wide open. So you're kind of like are is the Big Twelve team that comes out of it good or are they just the best of the worst the worst of the best big twelve schools? Micaiah: Th there's there's been no dominant power in that conference since Oklahoma left. And Texas fans, you can get mad at me, but the last decade you were in that conference with your arch rival from Norman, they dominated you. Red River always went to Oklahoma. Not always. I'm hyperbolizing. Don't hate me in the comments or do whatever gets me views. I don't really care. But they I get that's a fair point because last year it was. Texas Tech. The year before I don't even I here to your point, I don't even remember who it kind of was before. I mean Oklahoma Arizona State, thank you. Roberto Con Queso: Arizona State. 'Cause they went to the playoffs. But still Arizona State didn't come on until Micaiah: Right. Until November. Sure. Sure. And you do have with the like go all the way back to 2021. Oklahoma State, it was Oklahoma State and Baylor. Oklahoma State's coach has since been fired, and they've won more SEC games than conference games, and they've played one SEC game in the last two years. And then Baylor, their coaches, I don't know how he hasn't been fired yet. Dave Aranda, he won the conference and it has been all mudslide downhill from then. Roberto Con Queso: Very late in the season. Yeah. Micaiah: For since then. So I will grant you to that point, maybe the Big 12 is less than. But let's look at the ACC. So I look at the ACC as less than almost because you only have the one or the two teams, right? Your conference is not as deep. Most of that is because they expanded it to be so big. They go from coast to coast now. That's cool. That's nice. However, when you have not to pick on Andrew Luck, because I really do think. Stanford's a dark horse, not for conference, but for a bowl game this year. When you have teams like Stanford and Boston College, who won like one or two games last year, and then you have Miami and Clemson, and that's pretty much it. And in or Miami, and you know that that's gonna be it for the for the foreseeable future. For me, it's just like okay, you're producing one team that's fine. At least the Big 12 in Boston. You have multiple teams that can make a run. But let's start with our favorites. Or let me say let me put it this way: Miami is the clear-cut favorite. They have Devin Mensa. They have Malachi and Tony. They put a lot of money into the offensive and defensive line development. They were in the national championship game last year. Mensa at Duke through four. A million yards and a million touchdowns. When he wasn't throwing interceptions, they won. They won the ACC because of him and kind of messed up the whole playoff system last year. But Miami, fair to say, they're the front runners this year. Yes? Okay. Roberto Con Queso: Yeah. Yeah. I would say that yeah, definitely. Micaiah: Okay. Is it fair to say if I had to have you pick the two teams in the ACC title game, one of them would be Miami. Roberto Con Queso: Yes. Micaiah: Okay, so then same with me. Then let's work on it's Miami and everybody else. I'm not saying Miami's gonna win, but let's l look at the others. SMU's got Rhett Lashley and Kevin Jennings. Now they do have to replace both coordinators, but they have won a SMU at one point last year was the most winning ACC team since they joined the ACC now three years ago. They are v they have been very they have come into the conference and been immediately productive, including an upset over Miami last year. You have teams like Clemson, Dabo Sweeney. However, at this point, are we trusting that they're a top tier program in the ACC? That's a legitimate question I would like you to answer. Roberto Con Queso: I'm gonna say no. Not at least not this year. I think they they definitely are this is gonna be that rebound year that you really hope it's not the Michigan rebound year where Michigan went eight and four. Micaiah: I'm I agree. I I can't trust Dabo Sweeney anymore, right? Like I gave him the benefit of the doubt. He went on and then he and then he went on a run to end the season. I said Clemson's back. They're they're they're back. That was two years ago. And then last season it was just brick after brick after brick. If they were playing basketball, they were shack at the free throw line, right? Just boing, boing, boing. Every single game. Thank you. And so now Your defense isn't dominant because he's at his alma manor in Oklahoma. Your offense is two up and down. You got a first time starting quarterback that started at the end of last season. I just don't trust you. I I'm sorry, until proven otherwise, I I just don't trust you anymore. Can you get the swagger back? Do I believe that Dabo swimming is a is teaching y or teaching young men how to become successful young men in the future and teaching them good morals and good values? Absolutely, I do. But that doesn't always translate to on the field football. I I think that that's fair to say. Florida State, Florida State's a hot mess until proven otherwise. When when their starting projected starting quarterback is Ashton Daniels, you got a problem. He's been around. Georgia Kett, Brent Key, they their starting quarterback, projected starting quarterback, according to Chat GPT, is the brother of Roberto Con Queso: Hundred percent. Micaiah: Fernando Mendoza, Alberto Mendoza. The heart and soul of Georgia Tech last year was Haynes King, and I don't know how he's not dead or walking around with CTE. Maybe he is both because they he was it was hey Haynes, quarterback power, buddy. Was he the toughest guy in college football last year? Roberto Con Queso: Figure it out. I would say yes. Micaiah: Louis Vill's got Miller Moss, Jeff Brock. I think that's our first starting point. Who are you looking at to maybe join Miami in that second as that second spot in the ACC title game? Roberto Con Queso: So I wanna say and to be honest, it's gonna come down to one game, but it's gonna be either SMU or Louisville. Luckily both of them play each other, so whoever wins that game generally is gonna be the one to go play Miami. I'm gonna s I'm gonna I'm gonna roll with SMU. Micaiah: Okay. Because Roberto Con Queso: Because the the defense has been getting better at SMU and if they can just get Jennings to play like he did when they played Penn State. Not when they played Penn State, but like the road to when they played Penn State yes. If if they can get him back to playing like that, they're they should be like only a one loss team. Micaiah: That that year. Right. Right. That year. Yeah. Yeah, I I don't hate that pick. That would actually be my pick as well. I'm a sucker for Consistency at quarterback and then consistency at whoever is installing the offense, and that in this case is Rhett Lashley. So you're gonna have a third year starter with Kevin Jennings and Rhett Lashley in this system. I I think it's a disappointment for the fan base. And I'm not gonna I if I were an SMU fan, I think it would be a disappointment if in November they aren't right there at the top of the ACC. Which is wild to say considering they had to pay $200 million to get into the conference. And they did it and they've been succeeding in just about running the conference. But they've almost now won where they've been, they were in the conference championship game two years ago, and last year they were at the top with an upset of Miami and all that as well. I do think a sleeper team is Louisville with Jeff Brahm and Miller Moss. Jeff Brahm knows how to coach offense. And if he does he get Miami at home this year? Do you know? Roberto Con Queso: I do not know. Micaiah: Let me let me let me look that up because he is a Killer of top five teams if he gets them at home in the month of October specifically. Maybe it was just a Purdue thing, but he he did it at Louisville. So the the big thing for Louisville is they get old miss week one in a neutral site. That's tough. Because you you win great, but hypothetical, let's just say they they have that loss there week one. You maybe get another loss in this 12 team format, but with how, again, the committee views the ACC and the Big 12, there's not much room for error. So your losses better not be terrible. They do not play Miami at all. They play, they play Ole Miss, Villanova, SMU. That's September 19th. That's exciting. And they get that at home. Wake. NC State, Florida State, Syracuse, Stanford, Georgia Tech, first week of November, UNC, Pittsburgh, and can and then Kentucky, which is in a conference game. Very doable schedule based on last year's results for most of these teams. I think Pittsburgh, they always somehow find a way. UNC. What's your opinion on UNC? Roberto Con Queso: I think they I think UNC essentially is I think they're just middle of the road. And I can't tell if it's Bill's fault or if it's just he's trying to run it like an NFL s like an NFL team, but it's like just not working because you're competing against like a hundred and some other schools instead of thirty one teams. Micaiah: Well it And not everyone's playing by the same rules. In the NFL you had to play by the same rules. In college football, that's not the case, right? We we spent most of the off season banging our heads against the wall because of that. Roberto Con Queso: Right. Micaiah: UNC's gonna come. I think that in second year coaches, I do believe in Bill. I just think they played better football down the stretch late than they did early. I think they'll be a little more together this year. They got some of the same kids in the system, I'm sure. even with the transfer portal. So the projected starting quarterback is a freshman, which worries me, but. Roberto Con Queso: Mm-hmm. Micaiah: If they walk in prepared, especially defensively, I think they're in for a they're in for a rebound. Maybe not competing, but they could trip a team like Louisville up, right? Roberto Con Queso: Yeah, absolutely. Micaiah: so you are going with we're we're both going with Miami and SMU. and then who would be your dark horse? Roberto Con Queso: S yes. My dark horse? I would have to say let's go Virginia Tech. Micaiah: I'm going to all also do a tech, but it's in Georgia. I'm gonna do Georgia Tech. I love Brent Key. I love how he coaches physicality. I honestly just want to know how much Haynes King meant to that program, and we're gonna find out. Right? We're gonna find out very early with Georgia Tech how much Haynes King meant to that program and just how much of the toughness he was. Roberto Con Queso: Yes. Micaiah: Justice Hayes, Haynes. He's now the running back, so he's the Bell Cal down there. Can he stay healthy? He was electric with Michigan and then he got injured in the Michigan State game last year, so he didn't complete his season. So will that will that come back up? Because they're gonna give him the ball a lot. Guaranteed. Guaranteed. Roberto Con Queso: Mm-hmm. Yeah. absolutely. Micaiah: Okay, so we kinda got the ACC talk out of the way. Where are we going next? Roberto Con Queso: Well, you can't really talk about the ACC and especially Miami without having to discuss any of the Heisman odds. Micaiah: So Heisman ons I think are very interesting. I don't know if you've looked at them at all. Roberto Con Queso: not really. Micaiah: Okay. Heisman odds are very interesting to me because CJ Car sits at the top. These are preseason Heisman odds. These are brought to you by FanDuel. I just typed them into Google. This is what they're giving me. Gamble responsely, one eight hundred gambling. Please like like don't bet your house and take mortgages out. I read a very disturbing story where Bryce Harper, I don't know if you saw this, Bright Har Harper recorded a video for a FanDuel VIP who lost like two million dollars. Three mortgages on his house, almost killed himself. It's a very sad story. I know. So please, like, this ain't that serious. They are out to get you, the sports books. So just keep that in mind. CJ Cars is at the top with plus 750 odds. I would assume he played well last season. I I would classify what he did for Notre Dame. Well, not great. He he's not gonna have the two backs behind him. Roberto Con Queso: Cheese. Yeah. yeah, I would say. Micaiah: The wide receiver talent, another year to develop. The defense is going to be good but with Marcus Freeman. Notre Dame has always, at least in the in the last 10 years, been more of a if I had to describe Notre Dame, not quarterback led, but kind of like they got good reliability from the offense, from from the defense, offensive line, push people around, running backs. It wasn't a quarterback Heisman race. So here are the top 10 in order: CJ Carr, Arch Manning, Darien Mensa, Trinidad Chamblish, Josh Hoover at Indiana Now Not TCU, Julian Saiyan, Dante Moore, Jeremiah Smith, and Gunnar Stockton. Only one non-QB in that list is Jeremiah Smith. And I feel like if Jeremiah Smith is having the season, then Julian Saiyan might get the non. Roberto Con Queso: Yeah. Well, 'cause we always said that the Heisman was always it's that's a it's a quarterback award. And I mean, I get it, k but in the same sense, I always felt that when the quarterback throws the ball, if they throw a five yard out and Jeremiah Smith takes it ninety five yards for a touchdown, it should not be a one hundred yard touchdown or ninety five yard touchdown. Like it like no, he didn't throw it that far. It's a five yard pass, ninety five yard run, ninety five he like Micaiah: Yep. Right. Roberto Con Queso: Jeremiah Smith doesn't get a hundred receiving yards for it, even though he ran a hundred yards, if not more. Micaiah: Yeah, he doesn't he get ninety five yards though? Roberto Con Queso: He just he just gets ninety-five. So he but he doesn't get the other five the ball was in the air. But Saiyan would get the five and then he gets everything that so Yeah, I d I also don't know how you don't if you're gonna put Mensa in, how don't you put Tony in? Micaiah: sure, okay. I see. Right. I I see what you're saying. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, that's a that's a good question. Who would you say is more valuable to their team? Roberto Con Queso: Malachi Tony. Micaiah: Malachi Tony. That in at just first thought, I would agree with you, right? Like Ohio State, I Jeremiah Smith is and I think that that that that's what I was trying to get at, and I didn't I wasn't quick enough, and so thank you for getting there. Like Ohio State is just having this revolving door of NFL wide receiver. They are the NFL wide receiver factory. They are the score forty-five points a game except in the playoffs against a good defense, right? They the the that's what they do year in and year out, and so now Roberto Con Queso: Jeremiah Smith is great, but they reload at wide receiver every year. Micaiah: It like it's fatigue. We saw Marvin Harrison do it. We saw Jackson Smith and Jigba do it. We saw Wilson. He plays for the Jets now, whatever his first name is. Garrett Wilson do it. Like it's just g receiver after receiver after receiver. And now you get to Jeremiah Smith, who, granted, appears to be an all-time talent, right? Roberto Con Queso: Garrett. Micaiah: And I'm just like, okay, that's fine. And and Ohio State fans can hate me because the block behind my my head. But like, been there, done that. Show like it's more impressive to me when you have someone like Tony come into a program who doesn't have the long history of NFL wide receivers in recent memory producing what, especially as a true freshman, what he did last year. Roberto Con Queso: Well, and I you're also I it's gonna be interesting to see how the receiving core now this year it should be fine. But the next couple years now the heart line's not there. 'Cause I mean, he was a big reason why those kids got b like better. not Jeremiah Smith Micaiah: Yeah. yeah. Yeah. Roberto Con Queso: He was just more or less NFL ready as he started. Like there was but, you know, we got you they have the other kids coming in, so it'll be interesting to see how the program evolves without Heartline. And of course people be well Heartline didn't mean anything. And it's like, that's fine. Whatever your opinion is, but kids get better when they have good coaches. Micaiah: Someone I'm excited to see on this list how their season plays out is i there's there's two people, but it's Trinidad Chambliss, because I really want to see if it was Trinidad or if it's Lane Kiffin, if it was Lane Kiffin slash Charlie Weiss. Personal experience being a fan of college football telling me is telling me it was Lane Kiff and Charlie Weiss, not the quarterback. I think he's a very good and competent quarterback. I don't think he was an all-time special talent to elevate an offense because again, I saw Jackson Dart the fatigue thing. I saw Jackson Dart do it for the previous four years before him. Right. It was expected and he just lived up to the expectation. The other guy is Josh Hoover at Indiana. Because of the same reason. Like, was Fernando was Fernando Mendoza really special, or is it just the offensive system that is really special? Roberto Con Queso: Right. Micaiah: Do you have someone on this list you are anxious to see how they perform? Roberto Con Queso: I would say probably CJ. I think it started off rough for CJ. Because Notre Dame didn't look the greatest at first. And then he kind of f fell more into place and just progressively looked better. I want to see if he can be like if he can be what everyone says Arch Manning is. But if CJ can actually be. Be that. Because good. Micaiah: Speaking of March I was just gonna say sorry, I thought you were done. speaking of March mainly, he's second on the list. Roberto Con Queso: Yeah, I if anyone has more like if anyone on that list has the most to prove, it's him. Because he cannot have the same season he had last year. Micaiah: No, he cannot. Roberto Con Queso: Like when we watched that Ohio State game, it was that that he didn't know where he was throwing the ball. Granted, Ohio State didn't look the greatest either and it was the first game of the season. However, if you're gonna get paid millions of dollars, you better play balls out every game. Micaiah: That I think that first throw where it was kind of that half roll out and it was either you throw it to the flat or you throw it, you know, you throw it to the little over route, and each either was wide open. There wasn't he made the correct read. He went with the longer one down the field and it was five yards short. And you I just remember we were sitting in the same room and you and me looked at each other and we're like, that's not what we were promised. That's not what everyone promised us. Roberto Con Queso: Yeah. Yeah. Micaiah: Darien Menta, though, I I I think out of everyone, I have the most confidence in just because how he performed last year at Duke. And now he's on a team in a national spotlight with Malachi Tony, who should be on the list but isn't. With a bet, because I think they returned their running back, did they not? Their big bruiser. What was his name? you used him in college football twenty five. Roberto Con Queso: I I did I used him in twenty five, yeah. Yeah, 'cause I hated him. Does he fun yeah, 'cause he kept fumbling. Micaiah: You You hated him? Roberto Con Queso: But I know you're talking about Fletcher. Yeah. I used to call him Fletch. And he kept fumbling for me and I was so mad. Yeah. Yeah. Micaiah: Mark Fletcher. Yes. Yeah. Well, he has since fixed that issue. at least last year he did, but he was a key cog, especially when Carson Beck would go cold for the Miami team. So if you had to pick and my I'm gonna guess someone not on this list is gonna win the Heisman, but let me just get your Heisman pick up front here, at least as of July tenth, and things can change. Who is your who is Robert's favorite for the Heisman. Roberto Con Queso: I'm gonna go with I'm gonna you know what? I'm gonna go Chambless. That's I th would say is gonna be my favorite. Micaiah: I'm going to go with Darien Mensah. I I just he threw like 40 some touchdowns last year. He he was very good for Duke, a very underrated, and I think he wins back to back ACC championships for two different teams. First person, I'm sure, in a laundry list of people to go ahead and do that coming up. All right. Bob, you got the controls. Where are we going next? Roberto Con Queso: Alright. it seems here Boomer. Boomer apparently has blue eyes. Can you tell me a little bit more about that? Micaiah: yeah. Okay, all right. So in the mascot research I did last year or last week or last podcast, whenever we did that, right? We played that fun mascot game. I I noticed that the like the ones with the animal heads, like that the people walk around in, right? The out the outfits, they had two different eye colors. Roberto Con Queso: Mm-hmm. Micaiah: And so I asked Chat GPT, I said, which one's boomer and which one's sooner? And ChatGPT came back with, and they thought I was talking about the the two live horses, and they go, they're interchangeable. Not one is designated boomer. Again, if I'm a if you're an Oklahoma fan listening to this podcast, please correct me. But this is what ChatGPT said that they don't designate which one's boomer and which one's sooner. And I asked, okay, but what about the the the costumes? is one boomer and one Sooner. And it said the blue-eyed one is Boomer and the Brown eyed one is Sooner. And I was like, well, why do they have two different eye colors? And Chat GPT was just like, well, I don't know, basically. So I just found it very interesting that how they tell them apart, the two mascots, are Boomer has blue eyes and Sooner has has brown eyes. And that just I don't know. I don't know. I like fun f fun weird facts about that. Roberto Con Queso: That's like one of the smallest details that really makes no like difference because you're not gonna like if you're not sitting within the first two rows, you're not gonna tell. Micaiah: Yeah. Yeah. You're you're not gonna know. No. And then I asked, Well, do the live mascots have two different eye colors? And they said no. So I'm like, I'm like, so the so then why did why did they make the characters have two different eye colors and Chat GPT didn't know? So again, if you're an Oklahoma fan listening to this and you know the answers to why Boomer has blue eyes and Sooner has brown eyes or whatever, let me know. But aga again, like Roberto Con Queso: Of course not. 'Cause why would they? Micaiah: I don't know why they would give one blue and one green, unless if the people follow around just like because they're together all the time need to know which one's which. I don't know. But that I that was your college football fun fact of the day? I don't know. Roberto Con Queso: Hey, you know what? We'll take it. Micaiah: Th this is what it's like to be inside Micaiah's head. This entire docket, what I have written, is just what it's like to be inside Micaiah's head on a random given Tuesday afternoon. Roberto Con Queso: Yeah. Yeah, just so everyone understands, it is not pretty. It is it is a winter storm looking for a polar bear, you're not gonna find it. Micaiah: no, no. The the I didn't even finish on on this one about soccer that I have that I'm sure we'll get to. I didn't even finish the sentence. Did you notice that? And I'm I've been sitting here, I'm just like, what did I mean by that? Lack of creativity allowed on like I have no idea. I know what I meant by this. Okay. So Robert, where are we going next? Roberto Con Queso: No, yeah, I read it. Yeah. Well, since you decided to pr since you brought it up, we might as well talk about the World Cup. Micaiah: Okay. World Cup is going on right now for those of you who live under a rock. the US men's national team is out. I think that the patriotism surrounding America's 250th birthday, at least for me, had a lot to do with the men's national team playing as well as they did. early on. They got blown out, they pulled a James Franklin. I had to explain that to some of my soccer friends why that was funny to me as a college football fan. And they also then found it funny. but I was sitting there and my soccer friends don't understand why I don't like soccer, why I like football. And so I I started thinking about it, and here's the list I came up with, and I'm going to explain it to you. So, number one, the diving. Robert, this is your pet peeve with soccer. I believe you said how quote, I love how they can act like they need a total knee replacement and fentanyl, and then they get up and score a goal two seconds later. I believe that was the summary of the text in the chat. Roberto Con Queso: Yep. Yeah, yeah, it's pretty close. Pretty close to that. Micaiah: Okay. All right. My soccer friends told me that there's a nuance to diving. Because not everything it's basically what SGA does. Not everything's a foul, but if you make it look like a foul, with how limited the scoring chances are in soccer, it enhances your ability to get a scoring chance. To which my response was then get more refs on the field. Because it can't be. someone acting, as you said, like they need a knee replacement and fentanyl drip, and then two minutes later they're up running full speed again. I do appreciate soccer with how athletic you have to be. You gotta run a lot. Roberto Con Queso: Yeah. Yeah, the athleticism for the athletes, top notch. There's a reason they are class A world athletes. There's a reason they're at the World Cup. There's a reason they represent their nation. However Micaiah: A lot. Roberto Con Queso: The the it just I don't I don't understand. I just don't understand when you bump bodies with something like we are literally gone and I understand when they talk they say about the nuance of it and all, but like you watch a football game, American football, and someone just gets absolutely decleated. That guy pops right back up. Most of the time. 75% of time. Gets back up, back in the huddle. Micaiah: Yeah. Right. Roberto Con Queso: They keep going. Guy running down the field gets his toe stepped on. Nope. He's on the ground. He's grabbing his foot, ankle, his knee. He's army crawling across the field. And they're getting ready to drive an ambulance onto the field. Meanwhile, five minutes are going by because it's just a keep clock keeps going. Wift blows his whistle, here comes the ball, he's up and running, and you're like, What? What is going on? Micaiah: Yeah. Yeah. The the how the clock works is one thing I hate about soccer. So everything down to V A R, right? Like it goes off someone's ear just ever so slightly. Someone is offside by the tip of their penis and V AR catches it, right? No goal allowed. But yet when you play for two 45 minute halves and you get to 40 and the clock counts up in soccer, why I don't know. But when you get to 45 minutes, it keeps going. And it's all just vibes at that point. And then they give you extra time because of the people ro doing barrel rolls after their foot gets stepped on, right, Rob? And then so say they give you six minutes. So at 51 minutes, Rob, if if I said, okay, fine, well, I'm gonna give you six minutes of extra time on 45 minutes, what time should the half end? Roberto Con Queso: It should end at fifty-one, cause that is six minutes. Not fifty-eight two minutes after the six minutes, cause then just like the weather, you might as well have just given them eight. Micaiah: Right. Right. Right. Right. So then they're going along and you're at fifty-one minutes. but a team is on a scoring a scoring chance, so we'll let this play out. and then a counter happens and we're running back the other way. well, we'll gotta let them play. What are we doing? Everything is so precise now with soccer, either lower V AR, which I hate V A R by the way, and soccer fans I think it it's doing too much, which hang on, just I'll get there in a second. But like Figure out the clock situation. Either make everything less precise or make the clock situation more precise. No in between. The what goes into this, the nuance of wasting time. Now, the equivalent to this is you got the ball with like four minutes left. You're just gonna run the football, get first downs, get out of there. Take a kneel down, get out of there. But the ball goes out of bounds. You're winning. It's your throw. You casually walk over there. You do a Robert walk over there. Roberto Con Queso: It is not fast. Micaiah: It is not fast. You pick up the ball, you lollygag back to the line, you throw it in. They kick it around a little bit. There's a foul. You get a free kick. You pause, you wait there, then you go get the ball. And it's like and it's like what are you you you know, they ki there's accidental contact, then you roll around on the ground for five minutes, wasting time. Roberto Con Queso: Yep. And then here comes the substitution. Micaiah: And then here comes the substitution where you take your good sweet time, and it's like Roberto Con Queso: He's gotta wait, put the board up, and then that guy takes his time running off the field, and they do a little cool high five thing, touch the top, touch the bottom, and then that guy, yeah, and then he comes running on. Yep. In the meantime, I'm just like, can we end this? It is four. Micaiah: Yeah, Everyone's thanking the fans. Ronaldo's crying through his plastic surgery. Yeah. Yes. Meanwhile, it's three-nothing, and you're just like you get six minutes of extra time that actually turns out to be twelve. Lack of creativity allowed on the entrance. Why do you gotta walk out nice? Like Roberto Con Queso: I don't know. Feel like that's gotta be a traditional thing. Kinda like like wearing white for Wimbledon. It's gotta be. Micaiah: I I I I guess, sure. It you're probably right. It's one of the oldest sports in the world, so you're probably right. It's a tradition thing. I think it would be a lot more entertaining if you let teams do f Yeah, yeah, yeah. Do football entrances. Roberto Con Queso: Let America like handle the entrances. You know fireworks, a little bit of smoke. Get a fight in a tunnel. Yeah. Micaiah: Yeah. Maybe a little bit ACDC, you know, you know, powered by Kanye electric. Roberto Con Queso: Yeah, someone coming down from the ceiling. Bruce Buffer in the middle with a microphone. Micaiah: Someone messy just being parachuted in. Yeah. and finally, what I hate, and this kind of goes for all sports, so I did kind of loop this into all sports. VAR and specifically instant replay is just doing way, way too much. You need to be under the hood maximum one minute. And if you don't know in one minute, the call on the field stands, we're moving on. And V A R, I don't need to know if someone's off sides by the tip of their penis. And I'm sorry if that's graphic to all the listeners. That's doing too much. Who cares? It's hard enough to score in soccer. We don't need to make it harder. Roberto Con Queso: Yeah, I kinda also feel like there needs to be a limit on the number of times. Kinda like what they did with baseball. You can only challenge the pitch like so many times. Micaiah: But in the that's that's the thing. The coaches aren't initiating the VAR in soccer. It's like college football. Right, yeah. Okay, I I see what you're saying. Roberto Con Queso: What that's that's how I feel it should though. Is it should be like okay and it's like, you know, if they say, Nope, it's a goal, that coach can sit there and go, you know, what do we think? Nope, let's review it. Cool. You get two of one per half. You choose. 'Cause I feel like the coaches don't really do much. And I could be way wrong. Way wrong, which I probably am. But I just feel like I just feel like the coaches are more cheerleaderish than what Micaiah: Right. Like what like what are we doing? right, sure. Roberto Con Queso: Any other sport is. Micaiah: See, I I I mean I'm right up there with you. I think them and baseball coaches, what are we doing? Like w what are baseball coaches doing? Hit the ball, throw the ball better. Roberto Con Queso: Like, are there plays? Do you have a play? Micaiah: I would assume so. Right. Right. And then the v and then the creativity that the coaches are allowed in what they wear is wild. Like Pochettino, he had a fishing shirt with only the top two ones buttoned, taking on a coat in a coach in a full suit, three piece suit and tie, vest, everything. Roberto Con Queso: Right? There has to be. I just think what they should do is it should have to be mandatory that you have to wear traditional clothing from your country. Whatever that is. Whatever it is. Micaiah: What would America be? Jean shorts and a T shirt? Roberto Con Queso: Probably or overalls, we don't know. Micaiah: Overalls. Okay, sure. Roberto Con Queso: Well, the way we could do the way we can do the US, where's the coach born? Like what what part of the US, if he's born in the US, if he's not born in the US, then wherever part he's born in. Or you take all the players in the US, put them on a map, majority either east or west. If it's east, then you're gonna look like your New York stockbroker. If you're in the west, you're gonna look a surfer. Micaiah: Okay. Yeah. Okay. Just shirtless. You get this overweight middle aged man, overweight middle aged man shirtless beer belly going on. Roberto Con Queso: Yes. W potentially with a Hawaiian shirt. Micaiah: That would be awesome. Roberto Con Queso: Cue the picture of Andy Reed. However, or if it's the middle of America, overalls. Micaiah: That would be a middle of America. You just get but no shirt on underneath. No shirt, just overalls. Yeah. Yeah. Straw piece of straw in your mouth. All right. Where are we going next? Roberto Con Queso: No. No, straight denim. Straw hat. Yep. Yep. well, let's go. today is the tenth, which means yesterday was the beginning of college football twenty seven. At least the standard people. Micaiah: Mm-hmm. Yes. The standard people. Yeah. So College Football Twenty Seven came out. For those of you familiar with this podcast, we are big college football video game players. me and Robert Simeon played the first season and now he's too busy with actually being a productive human in society. that me and Robert have kind of continued on. So I The game's great ish. The game's what the nostalgia is great from the games. Let me put it this way. Twenty sevens gameplay, we can talk about that and get into that. We won't bore people. Here's what happened. And let me give people background who don't know. So there have always been paywalls in what's called Ultimate Team, which are basically you pay to get card packs. You can get them for free if you want to grind at the game or if you want to kind of speed things up. You pay to basically get football card packs. And then the players that you draw in those pla packs get to be on your team and you can play with them. Okay. And ultimate team are team are players both past and present. that you can play with. Those that was always the deal. Dynasty and Road to Glory were always go hard, grind away. There is no way to quickly upgrade your player with payment. It was always ultimate team. This year, what happened was through all the YouTubers and creators and everyone previewing the game, they were not told about the paywalls behind Dynasty. So now you cannot. There are no sliders, and what in previous generations is they let you adjust how quickly your coach or player would upgrade based on experience points. And that is no longer the setting. Instead, they make you pay in order to do that. This has rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. Me, it sucks. It's a dick move not to announce it, but it's not surprising because Robert, I'm sure you saw this last year. A Saudi Arabia private equity firm bought EA Sports for fifty five billion dollars. Roberto Con Queso: Yep. Micaiah: And if we know anything about that section of the world, they're gonna get their value for what they purchased. Roberto Con Queso: Love that money. Micaiah: I do not think that is spewing hate. I think that is just fact. And I'm not trying to spew hate. So I'm not sure what people thought. I don't know if people realize that EA Sports was bought by this private equity firm or not last year. But if that ha like, what what did they think was gonna happen? That they weren't gonna try to microtransaction the crap out of you? Roberto Con Queso: Yeah, I part of me just wonders that I think we all thought that it would just be normal because the first two games were just normal. You know, if you played if you offline dynasty, everything was fine. No big deal, whatever. And then now it's just like it's kind of a unnecessary paywall as well, because it's just like It doesn't make sense to do it there because the only ones that will do it are the ones are your streamers. Because the right, 'cause the 'cause the average person is just gonna be like, yeah, that's fine. I mean, there's no reason to because if you need the coach to if you need a that coach to be better, like then you're probably not good at the game. Micaiah: Yeah, y the people supporting your brand, right? Right. Right. Roberto Con Queso: 'C like it at the 'cause it's up to what level if you get to level seventy five, that's when the paywall hits. Right? Micaiah: No, it so what people are finding are they can't even hit level seventy five without using the paywall. It goes from level zero to one hundred, but people what people are finding was someone did a simulation of 15 year dynasty and went fifteen and winning fifteen straight national championships, and they only their coach was only like level like fifty-five or something like that. So and the it it impacts the streamers in a big way because what the streamers will do is they will take a a a suggestion, hey, a a challenge from a a comment, hey, get your coach to level a hundred. And so what they'll do in order to create content for people, because they have to do a lot of different stuff, is they'll turn the XP up, the XP up, so that they're able to do that quicker. Carrie's cooking a pizza and it's it smells amazing. Just a side note for everybody. Roberto Con Queso: Well even if they would have if you want to add a paywall, fine. Add one, but still give people the opportunity to grind it out. Because 'cause essentially we're back to the you don't have to work hard for anything. If you just throw money at it, you'll get what you want. Cue the kids currently in college football right now. Micaiah: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Yes. Yes. Right. Right. And In in college football. So you're absolutely right. Give me the setting and the paywall. I don't care if you want to throw the paywall in there, because yes, you will get some sucker 15 year old, 13, 12, however old, to get their mom to buy them a hundred dollar pack to be able to level up their coach very quickly. That's fine. But give me the XP slider. Still, I've never used the XP slider. I play one mode, that is Dynasty. And I play an offline, I play it twice. I play an offline dynasty for myself to enjoy the game and play it on my time and create a good offensive playbook and a defensive playbook and all that. And then play an online dynasty, which I run, which you are in a bunch with nine other guys, right? And I've had very great success. And sh if any of them listen, shout out to all of them. Shout out to Riley. He likes to be the center of attention. So shout out Riley. w to that. That's all that I play. And I think a majority of people are our age, playing this game, are our age, but the difference is they have children and so they're playing one to two hours a night. And so if they want to be able to enjoy the game and level up their coaches fast, they should be able to. Now, EA Sports has come out since. I don't know if you saw this and said that they are putting XP sliders back in with their first main update. However. The fastest setting is still only like last year you could do normal, you could do D, you could do slowest, slow, default, faster, fastest last year. This year it is default, which is the slower setting last year. You could turn it up fast, which was the default from last year. And then the only you can't get fastest from last year. You can only get faster, which to me is a little cheap. Like just put the settings back to what they were. Roberto Con Queso: Right. Micaiah: It's not that hard. Roberto Con Queso: Yeah, 'cause it's it's stuff that somebody was paid to make a difference in the game. And that was their only job was to make make the game different. And that was what they chose. Micaiah: Yeah. hashtag play it, don't pay it. Okay. That is the hashtag going around right now. And I do echo that. I I don't think that we everything in the world's hard enough without people nicking it nickel and diming everyone. So enjoy the game. Roberto Con Queso: expect especially when you're already having to pay full price for a digital game. Like Micaiah: Well and and how much did like you paid a lot more than I did because you got the early access, right? So I'm I'm not gonna ask you I'm not gonna have you give me a dollar amount, but like I even I'll tell people how much I paid a hundred dollars for three days early access. Roberto Con Queso: What? Micaiah: Like for a digital game, now I now I can't even like sell it on eBay for twenty bucks in twenty years, right? Like I have no access to it. Roberto Con Queso: Yeah, yeah, it's I don't it makes no sense how but then again this is also like almost like the Bitcoin argument where it's like there's not like it's not a physical thing, it's a virtual thing, but it's still worth a tons of money. It's just it's dumb. Like just make it thirty dollars if you're gonna keep everything digital. If you wanna charge me fifty, then give me the actual disc. Show me that you're actually spending way more money than what you are making this game. Micaiah: And then you said so they released it on PC this year. And the modders on PC got a hold of it and put actual high school players in it, which if people remember, this is why it got banned from like this is why EA stopped making it because like back in fourteen and thirteen and twelve and the all those years prior is because people were modding it putting actual college football players into the game and they weren't being paid for it. Well now we're gonna run in the same thing with high school players. First of all, why do we need to do all this and put actual high school players into like why do we need all this? We don't. That's what Road to Globe mo it's so annoying. Why can't why can't people just enjoy things? Roberto Con Queso: I don't know. I just don't it's it's again The PC community just needed something to do. Micaiah: Yeah. All right. We're one down home stretch. Where are we going next? Roberto Con Queso: Yeah, yeah. So looks like on here you wanna talk about We already did that one, that one, that one, that one, that one, that one. what kind of games are you looking for this year? You know, what's what's gonna be the game that really tickles your fancy? Is there more than one? Is it just one? If it's just a national championship, all right, it's gonna be a boring year for you, dog, 'cause you gotta wait a couple of months for that. Micaiah: I gotta wait like forty some days, like past longer than that for like the end of the college football seasons, like the last week in weekend in November, and then that the national championship game doesn't happen until like sixty days later or something like that. It it's insane. I'm looking forward to a few. I'm looking forward to Texas, Ohio State, week two. Michigan, Oklahoma's also that week, and I think that's a good first test for Michigan, but we'll keep it mi we'll keep it non-Michigan. I am looking forward to Ohio State at Indiana on October seventeenth. I first of all, the Big Ten is finally playing meaningful games, not in November, so that's exciting. How Indiana beat him last year. Ryan Day still hasn't in in the last five years, hasn't won a Big Ten championship. I am looking forward to that game because I think it is. I'm looking right now. I think it's Indiana's kind of first real big game of the season. Yeah. That is Indiana's first big game of the season. That is when their season starts because then after that, they go Ohio State, Michigan, Minnesota, USC, Washington, and then they finish out with Purdue. Roberto Con Queso: Or don't. Micaiah: games not related to the Big Ten. I'm a sucker for the third Saturday in October. That is also the 17th of October. That is a huge game. I love Alabama, Tennessee, and I think Tennessee's a sleeper because everybody's counting out Tennessee this year in the FCC. No one has them. And I'm and last time this happened. They were above expectations. People are saying they're an eight win team this year. That means they're ten and two and in the playoff, ladies and gentlemen. Top Yolisby You Home to me Good old Rocky Top Woo Wha are you looking forward to any games this year? Roberto Con Queso: Home sweet home to be. Ooh. I feel like the most obvious one is the Ole Miss LSU. And Micaiah: yeah. Yeah. I I didn't pick it 'cause it was obvious, but yeah. Roberto Con Queso: Yeah, I mean the media's gonna take a hold of it, run with it, it should just be it should be a great game on paper. I'm hoping that it is just a hundred percent hate fueled. Micaiah: I I won't hold you to this pick. If you had to pick today who's gonna win that game, who's gonna win that game? Roberto Con Queso: LC. Yeah. Micaiah: Okay. I that would be my pick too. I trust Lane Kiffin way too much, which is a weird thing to say because I don't trust him at all. You're right, right? Like as a football coach, X is a N's. Lane Kiffin's gonna score 35 points a game. As a person, it's just like, no. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Roberto Con Queso: Yeah, I I Yeah, you're not wrong. As as as as a good member of society. Micaiah: Yeah, a good member of the football coaching community? No. my Roberto Con Queso: another game which I feel like everyone knows me pretty well to say obviously the Army Navy game. It's just a great game. but I'm actually excited for week the twenty ninth my was I think I believe it's week one, North Dakota State's first home game. Micaiah: Yeah. Who's a second one? Yeah, that Roberto Con Queso: Jacksonville State. Micaiah: I'm all about the bison being in the FBS. I've been calling for this for What six, seven years now? I think I've said to you, why don't they make the jump? They need to make the jump. There's nothing left for them to prove and and this is the jump. And I hope that they immediately come in and start dominating. I want them to so bad. I think that it is a pocket of America that people just don't appreciate or know much about, mostly because it's in North Dakota. But they're going to learn just how passionate. Passionate that fan base is. I w Roberto Con Queso: Especially if if they can talk like Montana, Montana State, like if they can really start getting more of these FCS schools into the FPS, I think like we're gonna end up seeing the Mountain West because that's wherever that's where they're all go. Like 'cause that's where they all are. Like Micaiah: Right, right, sure. Right. Georamically, right. Roberto Con Queso: That conference is more than likely going to represent in the post football playoff probably every year. And it's gonna make Boise State look so dumb. Micaiah: I I'm happy that the Pac twelve's back together, Pac twelve after a after dark. Well, a version of the Pac Twelve's back together. I actually I'm kind of with you. I thought that they're kind of just a newer version of Mountain West, but if you Dude, that would be so tantal. You get Montana you get the w what is that rivalry game? Call of the Wild, Montana, Montana State. Is that Call of the Wild? Roberto Con Queso: Like Battle of the Wild or like that. Something. It's a g it's a good name. Micaiah: Yeah, but it's You got guys shirtless in negative twenty degrees. It's amazing. People I don't watch a lot of FCS football because by the time they're playing meaningful games, I'm a little burnt out of watching college football. However, I do sit down and I try to watch at least one or two FCS games a year. It is electric football. Because you don't have the guys making millions of dollars on the roster. They might be making $10,000, $20,000. I really don't know how much FCS players make, but it is what we have left of the old pure form of football, which is they're not there for a long time. They're there for a good time, right? Roberto Con Queso: Yeah, your your FCS, your division two, your division three, those are the players that are there because they want to play football. You know, your FBS is ninety five percent, maybe not nine seventy five percent of the players in the FBS are paycheck. Paycheck, paycheck, paycheck, go to the NFL. The guys that aren't making the money that are there who aren't even getting scholarships, they're there because for the love of the game. That's where to take it from the SEC, it means more. That's those players' lives. Micaiah: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, maybe the FCC it the it no longer is means more in the FCC. It means more in the FCS. Okay. It means more in the Mountain West. That's the title of this podcast. It means more in the in the Mountain West. Finally, we're gonna finish up with Rob, we've been friends for five, six years now. I don't did you know that I wanted to be a sports broadcaster growing up. Roberto Con Queso: Yeah. No, no, you never told me that. Micaiah: Okay. So I want to be a sports broadcaster. I actually started right out of high school going to college for sports broadcasting. di figured it yeah or once I got into it, I was just like, this is not for me, right? For one reason or another, this this is not for me. So I became a nurse and the rest is history there. I love great commentators. There are a lot of people who can tell you what's going on in football. There or any sport really. There are not a lot of people That can give you a story of what's going on. What this brought why this brought on is I was listening to the World Cup. The number one team for the World Cup is John Strong and Stu Holden is the analyst, and they did all the USA men's games. People like Joe Davis in baseball, they tell you a story. Reese Davis does it very well, Chris Fowler does it very well, Joe Buck does it very well. there are a lot of guys in the sport that just tell you a story of the game of the team season where if they drop you in where if you come in on the middle of the season, they're gonna tell you exactly what's going on. And I I I love that. I will watch college football games based on who's calling them. Right? If there are two games I really want to watch on, but it is one broadcast team that is like, that is so good. I will watch that game over me. If it's a 1v2 and 5v10, but 5v10 has the better call. I'm probably going to pay more attention in that game because I just I love great commentators. And I know this makes me sound like a nerd and I am, but this is just I I I don't know. It's a fun fact about Captain Boring himself, but I just love great commentators. Roberto Con Queso: W well, I mean, we we said it last year. The commentator kind of makes or breaks the game and it's the most unfortunate part is the Big Ten just gets Gus Johnson. Micaiah: He used to be really good and that's kind of the sound. Roberto Con Queso: And y he was very good until like he became almost too much, like over the top and everyone was getting nicknames. You know, was it Maserati Marvin? You know, and it like he was trying too hard to be too good at his job when he just needed to be good. Micaiah: Yeah. Blake the Great. Yeah. Yeah. And he Roberto Con Queso: 'Cause we complained about that a lot last year. Micaiah: Yeah, and and and l and everything with Gus Johnson. Four yard run for a first down in the first quarter. and he's got relaxed dude. Like wait, they're still on their own thirty-five yard line, right? I mean, he I I truly believe he's the reason for Fernando Mendoza got got won the Heisman, right? 'Cause he's just like, It's the Heisman moment for Fernando Mendoza. It's like, dude, he threw off his back foot against Penn State. Roberto Con Queso: It's the first quarter. Micaiah: a a terrible Penn State team last year. yeah, so I I I agree with you. Do you have a favorite Do you have a favorite broadcast team or you're not as nerdy as I am in that aspect? Roberto Con Queso: to me it never really it never really mattered like kind of who was calling the game because a lot of times and especially when ESPN started doing it, they started doing the alternate broadcast where you couldn't hear the commentators but you'd hear everything else going around in the stadium. So like I would watch that every now and then just because it kinda was more immersive in my opinion. Micaiah: Mm-hmm. Sure, right. Right. Roberto Con Queso: But I mean I'll wa like Chris Fowler and everyone, they're they're all good. You know, if sometimes when one that I don't r necessarily like, and this could be a hot take, is Pat. Micaiah: Mak a V. Roberto Con Queso: Yeah, when Pat's doing a game. Micaiah: Yeah. You don't like you you don't like that?
