- 0:23later than five point thirty because normally we start recording
- 0:27the show at six and the place gets pretty loaded up.
- 0:30It's a wonderful location there at twenty two twenty two
- 0:34reoh Grand the West Campus location, but it's not the
- 0:37largest location of Pluckers, so it fills up. Students get
- 0:41over there and there's a lot they're really excited. Let
- 0:43me also say this, there's a lot of students coming
- 0:45over there who are not about to let a radio
- 0:47show get in the way of having a good time. Nope,
- 0:49they're going over there because they're going over there now too.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:54Speaker 1: Yes, Wednesday night's Trivia and I now here's something else.
- 0:58Texas Fight rallies tonight, So it could be a lot
- 1:01of students headed over to the Tower for the Texas
- 1:06Fight Rally. Our special guest tonight is Jamal Charles.
- 1:10Speaker 2: Nice long, we'ren't a whole of honor.
- 1:14Speaker 1: Honoree and a guy who had not only an outstanding
- 1:18career in Texas but also in the NFL as well.
- 1:22So Jamal Charles will join us during the program tonight
- 1:24as well. So we'll get to that Major League Baseball
- 1:27updating the Division Series action for you right now. The
- 1:30one game that's going on, there's another game getting ready
- 1:32to start. But the game that's going on right now
- 1:36is in the bottom of the six inning in Detroit,
- 1:38where the Tigers lead the Cleveland Guardians three nothing. If
- 1:43the Tigers win that game, they go up two games
- 1:45to one. Yankees and Royals will start a couple hours
- 1:49from now in Kansas City with that series tied at
- 1:51a game apiece. The National League Division Series have already
- 1:55have three games in the belt and in these best
- 1:58of five series, the Mets and Andres have the chance
- 2:01to lock it up tonight and advance to the National
- 2:05League Championship Series. The Mets lead the Phillies two games
- 2:08to one game four this evening and in fact this
- 2:13afternoon It's just now about to get underway in Queens
- 2:17at City Field with the Mets leading two games to one,
- 2:20and then tonight in San Diego. Like the Mets, the
- 2:23Padres have a chance to close it out on their
- 2:25own home field. San Diego beat the Dodgers last night
- 2:28six to five. They scored six runs in the second
- 2:31inning off Walker Bueller and made it stand up and
- 2:33they won held off for a six to five lead
- 2:36despite a grand slam home run from tay Oscar Hernandez.
- 2:39But they're one game away from wrapping that up, and
- 2:42that's at eight o'clock tonight out in San Diego. So
- 2:46that's where your Major League Baseball playoffs stand at the moment.
- 2:53NFL action will resume tomorrow night with the Thursday night game.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Have any interest in forty nine or Seahawks? I think so.
- 3:02Speaker 3: It's a big game for San Francisco, Craig. You had
- 3:05that blown loss against Arizona. Still can't believe they did
- 3:08not score a single point in that game, two and three,
- 3:12and could you imagine San Francisco being two and four
- 3:15after the first six weeks of the season and with
- 3:19this loss, Craig, I mean, you're looking at an NFC
- 3:22West team that will be looking up at the Seattle Seahawks.
- 3:25So it's not like a loser leaves town type of game.
- 3:28But as we get deeper and deeper into the season,
- 3:31you're starting to get more worried about the San Francisco
- 3:33team and this Kyle Shanahan offense that still is without
- 3:38Christian McCaffrey for who knows how long. At this point,
- 3:41Deebo Samuel was pretty ineffective. Now, Brandon, now you got
- 3:44his best game of the season, but Seattle could be
- 3:46four and two, Craig going into next week in the
- 3:49top the NFC West by two games.
- 3:52Speaker 1: Yeah, let me get your thoughts if you have interest
- 3:56in some of these other NFL games. First of all,
- 4:00Sunday morning, the London game Bears Jaguars. Of course, the
- 4:04jag second home is London. As we know, they played
- 4:07more games in London than any NFL team. Jags are
- 4:10one and four, coming off their first win being the Colts.
- 4:13Bears are three and two. They won three straight home games.
- 4:16They've not been a road team and now they really
- 4:19go on the road across Water. There is that old
- 4:21Any interest for you, Jaguars Bears?
- 4:23Speaker 3: Yeah, the Jaguars lose this game, Craig, Doug Peterson may
- 4:27end up being the next coach fire because they they're
- 4:29able to win last week and the snap their losing
- 4:33streak zero to four, finally getting their first one. I
- 4:36think Lawrence had lost what eight nine straight teams in
- 4:38the row, and they beat a Colts team with, you know,
- 4:40without Anthony Richardson. But this is the game, Craig, where
- 4:44if they lose this, Peterson may be out. But for
- 4:47the Bears, I think we're starting to see kill Williams now.
- 4:49The wheels are in motion after a tough couple games,
- 4:52which shouldn't be any surprise for a rookie with really
- 4:55limited preseason action, and I was getting his footing. He
- 4:58did play Carolina, but it was that's his best game
- 5:00he's played so far as an NFL quarterback. So in
- 5:03the Jaguars defense, by the way, one of the worst
- 5:05passing defenses in the league.
- 5:08Speaker 2: So London's always weird.
- 5:10Speaker 3: Who knows how that game will be played out, different turf,
- 5:12all that stuff, But this could be a game where
- 5:15kill Williams continues to get better and better and Jacksonville's
- 5:19coming back looking for a new head coach.
- 5:21Speaker 1: Texan's got the huge win at home last week over
- 5:24Buffalo on the walk off field goal by Kyamie fairbearn
- 5:28they play in Foxborough against the Patriots, trap game.
- 5:32Speaker 3: Could be now Drake May making his first NFL start,
- 5:35and then for the Patriots, you have or for the text,
- 5:38excuse me. Nico Collins on the IR who was maybe
- 5:41the league's best receiver, number two behind Justin Jefferson. Now
- 5:45he's out for at least four weeks. So Wills Diggs
- 5:48and Tank Dell they step up. And how about Exavier Hutchinson,
- 5:50the Iowa State receiver. He's gonna be picked up in
- 5:53some fantasy leagues. But always a trap game. But I
- 5:56think this Patriots team, we'll see how they look with
- 6:00Drake May remains to be seen, but.
- 6:02Speaker 2: I think Texans should be okay. I mean, it's coming
- 6:05off a couple of big wins the last couple of weeks.
- 6:06Speaker 1: To me, to me, one of the more intriguing matchups
- 6:11in the noon window, the early window Washington Baltimore Commanders
- 6:15at Ravens at M and T.
- 6:16Speaker 2: Banks Stadium.
- 6:17Speaker 3: I believe it's called this is a game where I
- 6:19don't understand why it's being played at It's played at noon, right, yeah,
- 6:23one to clock eastern. Uh huh, this game should be
- 6:26the night game. Instead we have Bengals Giants. Kid, they
- 6:30couldn't early, they couldn't flex this early, or even the
- 6:34three o'clock games. I mean, who wants to watch Falcons
- 6:37Panthers at three twenty five? But this is, I think, Craig,
- 6:40the game of the day, game of the day. You
- 6:42have Washington, who their offense looks incredible. Jaydon Daniels is
- 6:46so much fun to watch. In Baltimore who I don't.
- 6:49Speaker 2: Know, Craig.
- 6:49Speaker 3: The deeper I get into the season, the more I'm
- 6:51starting to believe that Baltimore may be the best team
- 6:55in the AFC. Now. I know they lost to Kansas
- 6:57City in Week one. That was Week one. I think
- 6:59Baltimore the best team right now in football.
- 7:02Speaker 1: I guess maybe it has to do with balance of
- 7:04games between Fox and CBS, because that Falcons Panthers game
- 7:09is a Fox telecast. The Ravens and Commanders or CBS.
- 7:14You know, there's just.
- 7:15Speaker 2: A game, screams Chris Myers, going.
- 7:19Speaker 1: Yeah that you know, and I don't know about you.
- 7:24This started happening. I think two years ago, maybe three,
- 7:29forever and ever and ever and ever and ever in
- 7:31the modern age, since the merger, let's put it that way,
- 7:34since the merger, even really going back to the NFL
- 7:36and AFL, CBS had all the NFL games, or after
- 7:40the merger of NFC, NBC had all of the AFC games,
- 7:48and that's how it was, and East was we East,
- 7:50and West was West, and never the Twain did meet
- 7:53that Monday Night Football and then Thursday. I guess it's
- 7:56because of the proliferation of the streaming games and ESPN
- 8:02and Sunday Night Football that they can't keep it to
- 8:05its true form. Last week, last week he had you
- 8:08had two games, one that you swear would be uh
- 8:13a CBS game and it was on Fox. I think,
- 8:17uh wasn't that? The No, wasn't the Falcons what I mean, Yeah,
- 8:21I think it might have been a fact.
- 8:22Speaker 2: It wasn't. It wasn't the Texans game. Put it that way,
- 8:25and you had that.
- 8:26Speaker 1: And then you had the Rams and the Packers who
- 8:28were on CBS, and so I've given up trying to
- 8:32keep out. I think they're just trying to balance total
- 8:34number of appearances on each network that that sort of thing.
- 8:39So maybe that's the reasoning here. I don't know Brown's
- 8:43Eagles in the early window.
- 8:46Speaker 3: Is it time that it's past time? But well, the
- 8:48Browns finally bench Deshaun Watson. Can we finally get Genis
- 8:52Winston at quarterback?
- 8:54Speaker 1: This?
- 8:54Speaker 3: This could be a disgusting game because the Eagles are
- 8:56not fun to watch.
- 8:57Speaker 2: The Browns are not fun to watch. This will get
- 8:59zero attention.
- 9:00Speaker 1: Maybe the most other than other than Washington and Baltimore,
- 9:05the most to me intriguing game in the early window
- 9:09is Cardinals Packers in Green Bay. Here's the Cardinals of
- 9:12two and three coming off the comfort behind win over
- 9:16San Francisco. The Packers survived a game against the Rams
- 9:21where they quite easily could have lost, but the Rams
- 9:23just couldn't get out of their own way. So you
- 9:26got a three and two Packers and a two and
- 9:27three Cardinals on that. Bucks and Saints two teams smarting.
- 9:32The Saints had started two and oh. Last time they
- 9:34won was when they drubbed the Cowboys. Now they dropped
- 9:37three in a row, and the Bucks are three and
- 9:39two coming off the loss last week. So we got
- 9:43three and two and a two and three there and
- 9:45Baker got he got banged up. Now you know, say
- 9:48what you want about Baker Mayfield. He is a pretty
- 9:49tough kid.
- 9:50Speaker 3: I hope try and find a way to play this game,
- 9:52but his health will be interesting to watch. And for
- 9:56New Orleans, is it going to be Spencer Rattler because
- 9:59he did not come men for Derek Carr? It was
- 10:03I think it's Travis Hayner. I don't even his first name,
- 10:05but he also played at President State where coincidentally that's
- 10:08where Derek Carr played. But when they don't have Taysom Hill,
- 10:11no Taysom Hill, and possibly will it be Rattler?
- 10:14Speaker 2: Will it be Hayner? Who knows?
- 10:16Speaker 3: But New Orleans who after they scored nine thousand points
- 10:20against Dallas, has lost with three straight games in a
- 10:23row and are staring at two or four straight in
- 10:25the face.
- 10:27Speaker 1: Okay, and then the one other game in the early
- 10:31window Colts Titans. Yeah, that kind of has some smell
- 10:36to it. Who's who's the quarterback for the Titans?
- 10:38Speaker 2: Now? I couldn't even tell you because they benched Will
- 10:41Levis correct, they did, but then I thought they went.
- 10:44Speaker 3: Back to Yeah, okay, uh, it was Mason Rudolph who
- 10:50came in. Maybe it is Will Levis, Okay, Will loves
- 10:53first Joe Flakil.
- 10:54Speaker 1: That's a quarterback matchup for you. Okay, in the late window.
- 10:59Like you said, Falcons Falcons Panthers holds no water for
- 11:03you there.
- 11:04Speaker 2: Steelers Raiders.
- 11:06Speaker 1: Raiders are two and three, they're at home against Pittsburgh.
- 11:10That's in the Chargers Broncos. Now that holds some interest.
- 11:13I think Chargers two and two Broncos. The surprise of
- 11:16the AFC at three and two, that's in the later window.
- 11:21And then unless we forget Lions Cowboys easily the most
- 11:27attractive of the three twenty five games.
- 11:29Speaker 2: It's three o'clock game. That's the three twenty five PM game.
- 11:32That's a great time to take a nap.
- 11:33Speaker 1: Then see now, Cam, here's how you do. You stay
- 11:37over Saturday night after the game after Texas OU and
- 11:42then you just shuttle it over them.
- 11:43Speaker 2: We're coming back Saturday. Yeah? Are you coming back after
- 11:47the game Saturday night? Yeah, we're coming back Saturday.
- 11:50Speaker 1: Oh.
- 11:51Speaker 2: That's slave driver Terry Fowx. He's just he's just loading
- 11:54you up, making you roll it on back.
- 11:56Speaker 3: I would love to spend the night at the Cotton
- 11:58Bowl but we'll be coming back Saturday, so Sunday will
- 12:01be a.
- 12:01Speaker 2: Very It will be a rest day for me. Okay,
- 12:03load of management. Yeah, there you go.
- 12:06Speaker 1: All right, So there's a look around the National Football
- 12:09League coming up next. We'll hear more from Longhorn's head coach,
- 12:11Steve Sarkesian when we continue here on Sports Radio AM
- 12:14thirteen under the zone of the iHeartRadio app.
