Transcript
- 0:09Speaker 1: Hello, everyone. Welcome to the Inside the Birds pregame show.
- 0:12Speaker 1: I'm Jeff Mosher with Adam Kaplan, and of course, we
- 0:15Speaker 1: have Greg Cosell here to help us preview this riveting
- 0:19Speaker 1: Sunday night game between the Philadelphia Eagles, who have two wins,
- 0:23Speaker 1: and the Washington Commanders, who have one win. However, it
- 0:27Speaker 1: did come against the defending Super Bowl champs, so we
- 0:29Speaker 1: give the Commanders their credit there. They're playing Sunday night
- 0:32Speaker 1: in Landover at Northwest Stadium, and we are here to
- 0:35Speaker 1: preview this game, break it down, because folks... The Eagles
- 0:38Speaker 1: are on a five game losing streak, and if they're
- 0:39Speaker 1: going to snap out of it, you would think this
- 0:42Speaker 1: might be the week that they could do it. Commanders
- 0:45Speaker 1: are vulnerable and we'll talk about it. Let's get to
- 0:47Speaker 1: the injuries first. Adam, great news for the Eagles, right?
- 0:50Speaker 1: Saquon Barkley, he's got no injury designation. He's good to go,
- 0:55Speaker 1: even though he's in the locker room telling reporters, I'm
- 0:58Speaker 1: kind of like, you know, working through some things and
- 1:01Speaker 1: I hope to go. Crazy, right?
- 1:03Speaker 2: Yeah, he actually has no game status designation, but he
- 1:06Speaker 2: does have an injury diagnosis.
- 1:07Speaker 1: Correct.
- 1:07Speaker 2: In fact, he has two. The hamstring in the back.
- 1:10Speaker 2: The back was aggravated because of the hamstring injury. So
- 1:14Speaker 2: what I don't understand is, like, you just said it. Like,
- 1:16Speaker 2: he's in the locker room talking about how he's, you know,
- 1:18Speaker 2: he's still working through things. Why not make him questionable?
- 1:22Speaker 2: Because here's the problem, folks. The Eagles are going to
- 1:25Speaker 2: add Elijah Mitchell to the roster. Okay, that's happening. So
- 1:29Speaker 2: they have three running backs. But if something happens, If
- 1:31Speaker 2: he gets tight in pregame or after their walkthrough, you
- 1:34Speaker 2: only have two running backs. It's too late to add
- 1:36Speaker 2: another running back. You can't go into a game with
- 1:38Speaker 2: two running backs. Jeff and I, just so people know,
- 1:42Speaker 2: we've been talking about this with our Andrew DiCecco through
- 1:45Speaker 2: text all week. So what are they going to do
- 1:48Speaker 2: if something bad happened? Because Mitchell's got a big injury history.
- 1:51Speaker 2: What are they going to do? Call Peyton a running back?
- 1:53Speaker 2: Put him in Wildcat?
- 1:54Speaker 1: What are they going to do?
- 1:55Speaker 2: Hey, man.
- 1:56Speaker 1: That's what it would have to come down to if
- 1:58Speaker 1: they really– If they're, if they have, because this is dangerous,
- 2:01Speaker 1: you're right. I mean, it's very rare. Team's going to
- 2:03Speaker 1: go in with just three running backs and one of
- 2:05Speaker 1: them already being banged up. And just so I can,
- 2:09Speaker 1: I'm just going to give everybody the quotes from right
- 2:11Speaker 1: from Saquon Barkley's mouth in the locker room. It was
- 2:15Speaker 1: Friday after practice, there were a bunch of reporters around
- 2:18Speaker 1: him and he was asked if he was going to play.
- 2:20Speaker 1: And he said, I would hope so. And then he didn't,
- 2:23Speaker 1: he was kind of asked what's bothering him. And he's
- 2:25Speaker 1: all he said was quote, definitely dealing with some stuff.
- 2:29Speaker 1: but working through it. So what you have is a
- 2:31Speaker 1: guy who is admitting what we already know is that
- 2:34Speaker 1: he's banged up. And I thought it was crazy, Craig.
- 2:37Speaker 1: I don't know if you heard this or if we
- 2:39Speaker 1: talked about it on Inside the Tape earlier this week. But,
- 2:41Speaker 1: you know, he had that really nice carry on his
- 2:44Speaker 1: first carry on Monday night, 29 yards.
- 2:47Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:47Speaker 1: He got dinged up a little bit. He actually told
- 2:49Speaker 1: us after the game, the reporters, I was there, that
- 2:53Speaker 1: he was actually hoping not to do that because he
- 2:55Speaker 1: was so worried about his hamstring and concerned that, that
- 2:58Speaker 1: he was sort of hoping to just be a kind
- 3:00Speaker 1: of a grinder and sustainer. And what happened was he
- 3:03Speaker 1: wound up, you know, locking up his back on that run.
- 3:05Speaker 1: And he said probably because he was favoring the leg.
- 3:08Speaker 1: So we have no idea what we're going to get
- 3:10Speaker 1: out of Saquon Barkley on Sunday night.
- 3:12Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 3:14Speaker 1: Very interesting stuff there. And like Adam said, Eli Mitchell
- 3:18Speaker 1: will get elevated from the practice squad. They already signed
- 3:21Speaker 1: Jaden Blue, who has also not had a carry ever
- 3:24Speaker 1: since he's been with the Eagles. And Mitchell has his
- 3:26Speaker 1: own injury history. So it's very surprising to us that
- 3:29Speaker 1: the Eagles did not add another running back for the game.
- 3:32Speaker 1: But the good news is Saquon's going to give it
- 3:35Speaker 1: a go from an injury standpoint. Now, the other good news,
- 3:38Speaker 1: we're going to go through guys who are playing in
- 3:40Speaker 1: good news first. Nolan Smith, back from the concussion, was
- 3:43Speaker 1: a full practice. No game designation. Tyler Steen, no game designation.
- 3:49Speaker 1: Drew Kendall, no game designation. These guys are all Full practice,
- 3:53Speaker 1: Dallas Goddard, full practice, no designation. So from an offensive standpoint,
- 3:57Speaker 1: looking pretty good there. And then also for your edge rush, Adam, right?
- 4:01Speaker 1: Nolan Smith being back. Jonathan Grenard, full practice, no designation.
- 4:06Speaker 1: Arnold Ebikiti, same thing, Katie. Full practice, no designation. So
- 4:10Speaker 1: it looks like the Eagles will be fairly much healthier
- 4:13Speaker 1: at edge. We'll say that. Now, again, maybe these guys
- 4:16Speaker 1: are still dealing with stuff, but that means they won't
- 4:19Speaker 1: have to elevate Keyshawn James Newby, because they may need
- 4:23Speaker 1: to elevate another off-ball linebacker with Jihad Campbell being out.
- 4:29Speaker 2: Yeah, Campbell's got another new injury, so he's out. Trotter
- 4:32Speaker 2: will start for him. And also, don't forget, they only
- 4:34Speaker 2: have four healthy receivers. Who's going to return punts? Probably
- 4:38Speaker 2: Makai Lemon. That would make the most sense. And let's
- 4:41Speaker 2: not underestimate how good Britton Covey's been as a punt returner.
- 4:44Speaker 2: And don't forget, he's been mostly their kickoff returner.
- 4:47Speaker 1: Yeah, he's been good. He has been good. And he's
- 4:49Speaker 1: out as well with the knee. Jonathan Jones out, so
- 4:52Speaker 1: they are thin at corner. You've got to hope that
- 4:54Speaker 1: they don't have more injuries there. And as you mentioned,
- 4:56Speaker 1: Devontae Smith and Tay Wicks both going to be out.
- 5:00Speaker 1: So once again, the Eagles will be down to, as
- 5:04Speaker 1: wide receivers, Darius Cooper, Makai Lemon, Hollywood Brown. And we'll
- 5:09Speaker 1: see if Elijah Mitchell even touches the field. So that
- 5:12Speaker 1: is the main situation. Did I miss any other Eagles?
- 5:15Speaker 1: I think we're pretty good there, right? Jalex Hunt was limited.
- 5:18Speaker 1: That's the interesting one. Jalex Hunt and Moro Ajomo were
- 5:21Speaker 1: both limited on Friday. So we have to keep our
- 5:25Speaker 1: eyes out for those guys because, as we often say,
- 5:28Speaker 1: if you're limited on Friday, they're either trying to ease
- 5:30Speaker 1: up on you because you're dealing with something or you
- 5:32Speaker 1: may not play.
- 5:34Speaker 3: I know. So if... So, Bond and Trotter will go. So,
- 5:39Speaker 3: if one of them were to get hurt and miss
- 5:41Speaker 3: plays or, you know, get hurt and be out, is
- 5:43Speaker 3: it Smile Mondin who's then next? It is.
- 5:45Speaker 1: It would have to be.
- 5:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:47Speaker 1: That's why I think you're– I guess the only practice
- 5:49Speaker 1: squad off-ball linebacker they have is Anfernee– give me the
- 5:53Speaker 1: last name.
- 5:54Speaker 3: Origi?
- 5:54Speaker 2: Origi? Yeah, who's a journeyman special teamer.
- 5:57Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
- 5:58Speaker 1: But he might get elevated for special teams because they
- 6:01Speaker 1: may be concerned about, well, Trotter's going to play a
- 6:03Speaker 1: lot of– Trotter's going to start.
- 6:05Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 6:06Speaker 2: Oh, and by the way, Monin's been clear, but he
- 6:08Speaker 2: was added this week with a knee issue. So that's that. Yeah.
- 6:12Speaker 2: But one thing before we move on to get started here,
- 6:15Speaker 2: just understand something. You were talking about it, that some
- 6:18Speaker 2: of these guys were limited. I know Greg has told
- 6:20Speaker 2: us he can't always tell if a guy's dealing with
- 6:22Speaker 2: an injury or not, but Hunt's got two injuries, right?
- 6:25Speaker 2: Grenard has never been healthy since the trade.
- 6:27Speaker 1: Correct.
- 6:28Speaker 2: We saw... limited action for him before he hurt his ankle.
- 6:32Speaker 2: He looked damn good. People don't like, he looked good.
- 6:34Speaker 2: Then he got hurt again. So people are like, Oh
- 6:36Speaker 2: my God, this guy, this guy's always heard. He can't play. No,
- 6:38Speaker 2: he's been hurt.
- 6:39Speaker 3: Right.
- 6:40Speaker 2: I can play if he looks right. We just don't
- 6:42Speaker 2: know how they're going to look because Hunt's got these
- 6:45Speaker 2: two injuries. I give a guy credit for, for not
- 6:47Speaker 2: missing much time, but Grenard is not, he looked, he
- 6:50Speaker 2: looked hot. He's looked hobbled. So who the heck knows
- 6:52Speaker 2: what we're going to get?
- 6:53Speaker 1: That is true. And you know, I always get concerned
- 6:55Speaker 1: when I see a guy having a neck, that's something
- 6:57Speaker 1: that more with Jomo has been dealing with. He's been
- 6:59Speaker 1: able to, play through it, but you never know if
- 7:01Speaker 1: like it's, it's, it can be inhibiting, especially if you've
- 7:04Speaker 1: got like a nerve issue or if it's a small,
- 7:06Speaker 1: slight stinger. Um, but he did speak in the locker
- 7:09Speaker 1: room too. I saw that. I believe he's expecting to
- 7:11Speaker 1: play and, and be good to go. So better health
- 7:14Speaker 1: news for sure. I mean, not great at wide receiver.
- 7:17Speaker 1: We already knew that going into this show. Uh, and
- 7:19Speaker 1: we'll just see how they do going forward. Let's talk
- 7:22Speaker 1: about Washington's injuries. Uh, their biggest injuries are guys who
- 7:26Speaker 1: are really not on the 53 because of injuries. There
- 7:28Speaker 1: are on IR and that's Terry McLaurin. It's, uh, they're
- 7:32Speaker 1: running back explosive. They're only explosive running back to Corey
- 7:36Speaker 1: Kroski merit. And Adam, who else is not going to go?
- 7:39Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:40Speaker 2: Uh, on D Larry Tunsil, of course, the left tackle. Sure. Uh,
- 7:44Speaker 2: this one's big Leo Chanel, a big free agent signing.
- 7:47Speaker 2: He's out for the season. He had neck surgery.
- 7:49Speaker 1: That was rough.
- 7:50Speaker 2: Yeah. Johnny Newton might be available. They might activate. In fact,
- 7:53Speaker 2: they probably will. Cause this just happened. Duran Payne was
- 7:57Speaker 2: added to the injury report after Friday's practice with a
- 7:59Speaker 2: foot issue. He's questionable. And then also Javon Kinlaw is out.
- 8:05Speaker 2: We should mention that. He's one of the starting D-tackles.
- 8:07Speaker 2: So they're a little bit banged up at D-tackle. Good
- 8:10Speaker 2: news for the Eagles running game.
- 8:11Speaker 3: All right.
- 8:12Speaker 1: Well, I mean, we hope, right?
- 8:14Speaker 2: It could be. Absolutely. It looked good, by the way.
- 8:16Speaker 2: The running game actually looked all right.
- 8:17Speaker 3: Yeah, for sure. Shockingly.
- 8:20Speaker 1: So why don't we start off this? Because let's start
- 8:22Speaker 1: off with the Eagles offense versus the Commander's defense, because
- 8:24Speaker 1: there are some things that I think can be a
- 8:27Speaker 1: real positive for the Eagles in this game, especially if
- 8:29Speaker 1: Barkley can play and be effective. But there are also
- 8:32Speaker 1: some things that I have concerns about, Greg. Obviously, if
- 8:37Speaker 1: the Eagles can run the ball and have some explosion,
- 8:40Speaker 1: it actually might open up their pass game a little bit.
- 8:43Speaker 1: And you would think that the Eagles would continue to
- 8:46Speaker 1: live in 11 personnel the way they have, even with
- 8:48Speaker 1: their their receivers being banged up?
- 8:53Speaker 4: Uh, you know, it's almost hard to know exactly, you know,
- 8:57Speaker 4: what the Eagles offense is right now, as far as
- 8:59Speaker 4: the past game.
- 9:00Speaker 3: Um, you know, I think, I think they're going to
- 9:03Speaker 3: try to run the ball. I think they have to
- 9:05Speaker 3: try to run the ball.
- 9:06Speaker 4: You know, they've played out of 11 personnel guys, as
- 9:08Speaker 4: you know, that they're one of the highest percentage, 11
- 9:11Speaker 4: personnel offenses in the league.
- 9:13Speaker 3: Um, you know, are they going to just dress for
- 9:15Speaker 3: wide receivers, Adam?
- 9:17Speaker 2: Well, Do you remember Eric Azucama? Did you do his
- 9:20Speaker 2: tape in college? Texas Tech, I think.
- 9:23Speaker 4: Remember him?
- 9:24Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:24Speaker 3: Yeah. I do remember him. Yeah.
- 9:26Speaker 2: Eagles brought him to the practice squad. He was in there,
- 9:28Speaker 2: you know, in the preseason. It probably would be him
- 9:33Speaker 2: to be the fifth receiver. That's the way I look.
- 9:35Speaker 2: They have Xavier Gibson. Now, Jeff, he can't, the only
- 9:38Speaker 2: thing Xavier Gibson could do is return. So he, he
- 9:40Speaker 2: would make sense.
- 9:41Speaker 1: He'd probably be the one that got elevated over. Yeah.
- 9:44Speaker 2: Yeah. But, but, Ezra Kama's got good size. Greg, do
- 9:48Speaker 2: you remember?
- 9:50Speaker 3: What year did he come out? Because I did him.
- 9:51Speaker 2: 22, I think. I'll double check. I think it was 22.
- 9:54Speaker 2: Let me see.
- 9:54Speaker 1: While you check on that.
- 9:55Speaker 2: 22.
- 9:56Speaker 1: Yeah, fourth rounder in 22. But while you check on that, Greg,
- 10:01Speaker 1: I will say, if they did want to elevate, we
- 10:05Speaker 1: know they have to elevate Eli Mitchell. That's not a question.
- 10:07Speaker 1: So they only have one more. So if they elevate
- 10:09Speaker 1: another offensive player, like a wide receiver or a punt returner,
- 10:13Speaker 1: then they're leaving themselves thin at linebacker with Campbell out.
- 10:17Speaker 1: and Mondin has never really played very much. So that's
- 10:21Speaker 1: going to be a decision they're going to have to weigh.
- 10:22Speaker 1: Would they rather have the extra linebacker for special teams
- 10:25Speaker 1: because you're losing Trotter to special teams most likely, or
- 10:28Speaker 1: would you just bring up the punt returner slash receiver?
- 10:33Speaker 2: Well, right now it's going to be Vaughn, Trotter, Mondin.
- 10:38Speaker 2: So you have three, right?
- 10:39Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 10:40Speaker 2: You need to have one sub. But I like your point, Jeff,
- 10:43Speaker 2: on Gibson over as a comma because Gibson could do both.
- 10:47Speaker 3: Yep.
- 10:47Speaker 2: He had a fumbling problem with the Jets. That's why
- 10:49Speaker 2: they cut him.
- 10:50Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 10:50Speaker 2: But you made the best point of all. You only
- 10:52Speaker 2: have two elevations.
- 10:54Speaker 1: Right.
- 10:55Speaker 2: And remember, unfortunately, Lane Johnson's kind of against the roster
- 10:58Speaker 2: because of the cap. They're not going to put him
- 10:59Speaker 2: on reserve retired.
- 11:00Speaker 4: Right.
- 11:01Speaker 2: So you can't use that to sign someone off the
- 11:02Speaker 2: practice squad.
- 11:03Speaker 1: So this hit me when I was doing work around
- 11:05Speaker 1: the house the other day and trying to open up
- 11:07Speaker 1: some boxes and cut some things that I can never
- 11:10Speaker 1: find the scissors or knives in my house. And how
- 11:13Speaker 1: great would it be if I just had my own
- 11:15Speaker 1: personal pocket knife that I had on me all the time.
- 11:19Speaker 1: And that's why I can't wait to get my Benchmade knives.
- 11:23Speaker 1: They've got this legendary bug out knife. It's designed specifically
- 11:26Speaker 1: as an everyday carry knife. It's incredibly lightweight, but it

- 12:35Speaker 1: know Inside the Bird sent you. Everything in life comes
- 12:37Speaker 1: down to choice, doesn't it? Whether it's choosing the team
- 12:40Speaker 1: you root for, who you listen to, or how you
- 12:43Speaker 1: power your home, you deserve the freedom to choose your
- 12:46Speaker 1: own adventure. And that goes for your power bill too.
- 12:49Speaker 1: Right now across the U.S., Americans have the potential to
- 12:51Speaker 1: harness limitless, clean, affordable energy. We could be powering our hospitals,
- 12:56Speaker 1: our schools, our farms, and so much more. In some places,
- 13:00Speaker 1: this abundant local power is already helping lower utility bills
- 13:04Speaker 1: and creating jobs. But depending on where you live, you
- 13:07Speaker 1: may not have the option to choose Limitless Energy for
- 13:10Speaker 1: your household. That has to change. We should all get
- 13:13Speaker 1: to choose the energy we pay for. Cheaper, cleaner, Limitless
- 13:18Speaker 1: Energy is out there. Let's find more ways to use it.
- 13:21Speaker 1: Head over to EnergyLimitless.com to learn more about your energy options.
- 13:26Speaker 2: For sure.
- 13:27Speaker 3: So.
- 13:28Speaker 1: It'll be interesting to see what they do there. Gibson,
- 13:31Speaker 1: by the way, has more NFL experience, if I'm not mistaken. Also,
- 13:34Speaker 1: didn't he have the big punt return for the Jets
- 13:37Speaker 1: the night Aaron Rodgers tore his Achilles?
- 13:39Speaker 3: He did when they beat the Bills.
- 13:40Speaker 1: And they won that game, right? They beat the Bills.
- 13:42Speaker 1: I remember that.
- 13:43Speaker 4: So anyway, I liked Zucconimo coming out of Texas Tech.
- 13:47Speaker 4: You know, I mean, he's a certain kind of player, obviously,
- 13:50Speaker 4: but I liked him. I mean, he was really good
- 13:54Speaker 4: at run after catch. He looked like a running back.
- 13:56Speaker 4: He was competitive.
- 13:57Speaker 3: He was elusive.
- 13:58Speaker 4: He had really good contact balance. He gained tough yards
- 14:01Speaker 4: after initial contact. You know, he's not a vertical dimension
- 14:04Speaker 4: by any means. But, you know, he's one of those
- 14:07Speaker 4: short to intermediate guys. I thought that he could fit
- 14:10Speaker 4: in the league, that that would be his role. And
- 14:13Speaker 4: I thought he'd find a place in the league. Now,
- 14:15Speaker 4: I know he's been around the league and hasn't been
- 14:16Speaker 4: able to really make it anywhere. And again, there's always
- 14:20Speaker 4: reasons for that. But, you know, I didn't think he
- 14:23Speaker 4: was a bad prospect coming out of Texas Tech.
- 14:26Speaker 1: All right, well, we'll see if he gets the call up.
- 14:29Speaker 1: All right, so some interesting things, Greg and Adam, why
- 14:32Speaker 1: I think 11 personnel will again be the Eagles' choice,
- 14:35Speaker 1: even though they're thin at receiver and they have more
- 14:37Speaker 1: tight ends, is.
- 14:38Speaker 3: It will be.
- 14:39Speaker 1: Yeah, and here's some data that's really interesting from our
- 14:42Speaker 1: friends at True Media, okay? The commander's rushing defense against
- 14:46Speaker 1: 11 personnel, they allow 5.7 yards per rush. That is
- 14:50Speaker 1: way higher than the league average of 4.7. They have
- 14:53Speaker 1: a negative, a bad EPA... 0.30 against rushing out of
- 14:59Speaker 1: 11 personnel. And that is, you know, if you look
- 15:02Speaker 1: at what, how teams have attacked them, teams have also
- 15:04Speaker 1: ran about just as many plays in 12 personnel against
- 15:07Speaker 1: them where they average 3.7 yards per rush. So clearly
- 15:11Speaker 1: when they are in nickel, I assume they respond to
- 15:14Speaker 1: their 11 personnel and nickel, like most teams, they have
- 15:17Speaker 1: been vulnerable and run defense. So Greg, I look at
- 15:20Speaker 1: Barkley can play.
- 15:21Speaker 4: You know, that makes sense to some degree, but, Because,
- 15:24Speaker 4: you know, in their nickel, they move Robertson into the slot.
- 15:27Speaker 3: And he's a good player, but he's small. Because, you know,
- 15:30Speaker 3: Amos is back now.
- 15:31Speaker 4: So, you know, he played 36 snaps in his first
- 15:34Speaker 4: game against the Niners two weeks ago. Now I'm sure,
- 15:37Speaker 4: you know, with time gone by in a bye week,
- 15:40Speaker 4: I'm sure he'll play pretty much all the snaps. He
- 15:42Speaker 4: predominantly plays boundary corner. You know, and Robertson plays outside
- 15:48Speaker 4: when they're in their base.
- 15:49Speaker 3: And then when they're in their.
- 15:50Speaker 4: Nickel, they move Robertson inside and they play our good
- 15:53Speaker 4: buddy Rasul Douglas on the outside opposite Amos.
- 15:57Speaker 1: So here's an opportunity then to go into your 11,
- 16:01Speaker 1: try to get the commanders in nickel. And then for
- 16:04Speaker 1: as long as Saquon Barkley can gut it out and
- 16:06Speaker 1: be healthy, that's what you want. You want to get
- 16:08Speaker 1: yourself in manageable down and distances with the run game.
- 16:10Speaker 1: And Adam, I think this is finally an opportunity for
- 16:12Speaker 1: the Eagles to be able to do it.
- 16:15Speaker 2: Yeah, you hope so. I mean, to build off last week,
- 16:17Speaker 2: here's the thing. This is the second straight week with
- 16:19Speaker 2: this offensive line that they're all there. That's important.
- 16:23Speaker 4: Well, the other thing, too, I'd say is, you know,
- 16:26Speaker 4: they like to play Nick Cross, who's a good player. He's,
- 16:29Speaker 4: I don't want to say solely a box player, but
- 16:33Speaker 4: he's very good close to the line of scrimmage. That's
- 16:36Speaker 4: his game more so than playing on the back end,
- 16:38Speaker 4: even though they do play him on the back end.
- 16:42Speaker 3: So you're going to probably get One-on-ones on the outside.
- 16:46Speaker 4: Now, none of us are going to sit here and say, man,
- 16:48Speaker 4: do they have big time receivers and they're just.
- 16:50Speaker 3: Going to kill you on the outside. But you know what?
- 16:52Speaker 3: It's the NFL. If you get one-on-ones at some point,
- 16:55Speaker 3: you have to try to take advantage of that. You know,
- 16:57Speaker 3: you can't play the game as if you're not going
- 16:59Speaker 3: to attack one-on-ones if they're available.
- 17:02Speaker 2: Hmm.
- 17:03Speaker 1: By the way, I should point out the commanders have
- 17:05Speaker 1: actually played base defense on 48% of their snaps. It's
- 17:08Speaker 1: the fourth highest in the NFL.
- 17:09Speaker 3: Yeah, well, it depends on who they play.
- 17:10Speaker 4: Like, for instance, they just played the Niners, and the
- 17:12Speaker 4: Niners are a high percentage 21 personnel offense. So they played,
- 17:17Speaker 4: I think, 43 snaps of base defense against the Niners. So,
- 17:21Speaker 4: you know, it's who they've played. If the Eagles go
- 17:25Speaker 4: heavy 11 personnel, they'll be a nickel.
- 17:28Speaker 2: And by the way, that's part of why– they do
- 17:30Speaker 2: a lot of 11 that to accommodate Makai lemon, you
- 17:33Speaker 2: got it. You're going to have, he's, he's going to
- 17:34Speaker 2: play inside. Like that's, that's he's, he's plenty ton of snaps. Yup.
- 17:38Speaker 2: Guy's the first round pick. He's got to play to
- 17:39Speaker 2: account for him. He's got to play.
- 17:41Speaker 3: Right.
- 17:42Speaker 2: And that's why they're going to play a lot of 11. And,
- 17:44Speaker 2: but the other thing is Johnny month is just not
- 17:46Speaker 2: kind of worked out like they had hoped. And they don't,
- 17:48Speaker 2: it's not like they have anybody else. Very thin at
- 17:51Speaker 2: tight end to begin with.
- 17:52Speaker 3: I wonder where they see Eli Stowers at this point.
- 17:54Speaker 4: I mean, he obviously played his first game last time,
- 17:57Speaker 4: you know, uh, you'd assume he'd continue to get better.
- 18:00Speaker 4: You know, obviously he was hurt, but he's an interesting
- 18:03Speaker 4: player because, you know, obviously I'm not going to sit
- 18:06Speaker 4: here and say he's a Brock Bowers, but he's ultimately
- 18:08Speaker 4: going to be deployed like that. You know, he's not
- 18:11Speaker 4: a true attached tight end, you know, so it'll be
- 18:14Speaker 4: interesting to see as he continues to develop.
- 18:16Speaker 3: If he does, you know, we're not there every day.
- 18:18Speaker 3: I don't know the answer to.
- 18:19Speaker 4: That, but if he can develop, there's a certain kind
- 18:22Speaker 4: of role for him, even as a young player, because
- 18:25Speaker 4: you wouldn't be asking him to play 40 snaps.
- 18:27Speaker 2: You know, Jeff, on what Greg just said, because Wicks
- 18:31Speaker 2: is not here, there's your ex-receiver for a little bit.
- 18:35Speaker 2: Why can't you put him on the outside if you
- 18:37Speaker 2: think he's ready for it?
- 18:38Speaker 3: Right.
- 18:39Speaker 2: Honestly, Wicks is a run-after-the-catch guy. Devontae's explosive. And Hollywood Brown,
- 18:45Speaker 2: we're still trying to figure out whether the guy could
- 18:47Speaker 2: run as well as he used to. Stowers is young
- 18:49Speaker 2: and he can run. Why not try it?
- 18:51Speaker 1: Well, I would throw it to Greg because he played, what,
- 18:53Speaker 1: 20 snaps, I think, last week on Monday night against.
- 18:57Speaker 3: I thought it was less than that.
- 18:58Speaker 1: Was it less? I thought it was a little bit
- 19:00Speaker 1: more because of the fourth quarter. I thought he got
- 19:02Speaker 1: in there, but we can check that. But the point
- 19:04Speaker 1: is when you watched it and saw him, he did
- 19:05Speaker 1: line up, I believe outside a few times, but I
- 19:08Speaker 1: got the feeling he was being a clear out decoy guy.
- 19:10Speaker 1: Did you, did you get any sense there?
- 19:12Speaker 4: I mean, obviously it wasn't being, uh, you know, they
- 19:14Speaker 4: weren't focused on him in the past game, but you know, well, okay.
- 19:17Speaker 3: Thanks. Yeah. I thought he played 12 snaps. That's what
- 19:20Speaker 3: I thought. Yeah.
- 19:21Speaker 4: Um, the, the thing is, is, um, you know, if
- 19:23Speaker 4: they're only dressing forward receivers, okay, let's say that's what
- 19:26Speaker 4: they do dress. And, you know, Stowers theoretically can play
- 19:31Speaker 4: like that. You know, it's, he's not going to be
- 19:33Speaker 4: your boundary X on every snap, obviously, but, you know,
- 19:36Speaker 4: he's a motion guy. He's a guy that you can,
- 19:39Speaker 4: you know, get free access into routes too. He's got
- 19:41Speaker 4: some speed to him.
- 19:42Speaker 3: He's got length, you know, he's a receiver.
- 19:45Speaker 4: So, you know, you have to figure that, you know,
- 19:48Speaker 4: that he's gotten more work and, and, we'll see where
- 19:50Speaker 4: it stands. You know, that's one of the things I'm
- 19:52Speaker 4: anxious to see in this game, you know, where he stands,
- 19:55Speaker 4: whether he plays 12 snaps again or 30 snaps this week.
- 19:58Speaker 1: How about usage of wide receivers? Let's just like for
- 20:02Speaker 1: the sake of a good show and an argument, say
- 20:04Speaker 1: the Eagles have an honest running game, certainly more than
- 20:06Speaker 1: they've had And they have some better second and third downs.
- 20:10Speaker 1: Would you like to see a little bit more? You
- 20:12Speaker 1: mentioned that you felt like on Monday night, it was
- 20:16Speaker 1: a very, very short. And it was. The tape and
- 20:18Speaker 1: the data all shows it was short pass.
- 20:20Speaker 3: Right, right, right.
- 20:20Speaker 1: Short pass. Would Washington, the way they played, how often
- 20:25Speaker 1: they played. There's going to be opportunities, you would think,
- 20:27Speaker 1: this time to hit some deeper.
- 20:28Speaker 4: Well, I would answer that this way. There's always opportunities
- 20:32Speaker 4: if you design them. I mean, that's the bottom line.
- 20:35Speaker 4: you know, being able to run an intermediate pass game with, with,
- 20:40Speaker 4: you know, route design and route concepts is not.
- 20:43Speaker 3: A function of the defense. It's a function of your
- 20:45Speaker 3: route design.
- 20:46Speaker 4: I mean, the guys who are really good at it,
- 20:49Speaker 4: never thinking to, you know, Ben Johnson and believe me,
- 20:52Speaker 4: I'm not comparing Sean Mannion to Ben Johnson. I'm just
- 20:54Speaker 4: trying to make a point about pass game. Ben Johnson's
- 20:57Speaker 4: not going into a game saying, gee, the defense, you know,
- 21:00Speaker 4: I don't know if we can do that or, you know, he, he,
- 21:03Speaker 4: The good ones, they design their pass game.
- 21:07Speaker 3: Is there a tweak here and there based on an opponent?
- 21:09Speaker 4: Yeah, but they don't change philosophically how they're going about
- 21:12Speaker 4: their pass game. The Detroit Lions are going to run
- 21:15Speaker 4: deep in breakers against everybody. It doesn't matter what the
- 21:18Speaker 4: defense is.
- 21:20Speaker 1: I would piggyback off that and, Adam, get your insight
- 21:25Speaker 1: in that. I think it's time, again, we're going to
- 21:28Speaker 1: make the argument that they have a respectable run game.
- 21:30Speaker 1: I think it might be time to open it up
- 21:32Speaker 1: a little bit here. You got to turn it.
- 21:34Speaker 3: Loose somewhere along the line. You have to play that.
- 21:36Speaker 1: You got to have some deep overs. You got to have,
- 21:38Speaker 1: you know, you got.
- 21:39Speaker 3: To turn it loose. You know what I mean?
- 21:40Speaker 4: You can't, you can't live on five yard passes and
- 21:44Speaker 4: you just can't. I mean, it's one thing to start
- 21:46Speaker 4: a game that way to get a quarterback comfortable. So
- 21:48Speaker 4: you complete some balls and you get him into the
- 21:50Speaker 4: flow of the game.
- 21:51Speaker 3: A lot of teams do that.
- 21:53Speaker 4: So the quarterback can complete balls and feel okay. I'm
- 21:55Speaker 4: into the flow, but at some point, you know, you've
- 21:58Speaker 4: got to make some throws. Or you have to ask
- 22:01Speaker 4: him to make some throws.
- 22:02Speaker 1: You've got to be a quarterback. We say that a lot.
- 22:03Speaker 1: You've got to play the game. You've got to be
- 22:05Speaker 1: aggressive and pick your spots, Adam, right?
- 22:07Speaker 2: Yeah, and Greg talked about the lack of intermediate passing game,
- 22:12Speaker 2: and that's where Stowers comes in, okay? You've got to start, like,
- 22:16Speaker 2: you've got to try to get these guys, you've just
- 22:18Speaker 2: got to scheme these guys open. You know, I know
- 22:20Speaker 2: Elijah Moore's not done anything for a long time, but
- 22:23Speaker 2: that was his deal with the Jets when he got
- 22:24Speaker 2: off to a great start as a rookie. A lot
- 22:26Speaker 2: of short run after the catch stuff.
- 22:28Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 22:29Speaker 2: Look, I don't know if a guy could even play anymore.
- 22:31Speaker 2: I mean, he's still on the football team, but he's
- 22:32Speaker 2: going to be one of the four. Right. Okay? And
- 22:36Speaker 2: then Hollywood Brown, you just talked about it, taking shots.
- 22:40Speaker 3: We don't know what he is at this point in
- 22:42Speaker 3: his career.
- 22:42Speaker 1: I was just going to say, Greg, I defer to you.
- 22:44Speaker 2: You've got to find out because they need someone vertically.
- 22:46Speaker 2: And I don't really know.
- 22:48Speaker 3: He hasn't played a lot recently. I don't really know.
- 22:51Speaker 4: Everybody just assumes he's a vertical dimension because that's what
- 22:53Speaker 4: he was.
- 22:55Speaker 3: Quite a while in his career.
- 22:56Speaker 2: They tried and he was covered last week, if you saw.
- 22:58Speaker 3: Yeah, but I mean, he hasn't really played a lot recently,
- 23:02Speaker 3: so you don't really know. I mean, you know.
- 23:04Speaker 1: Well, here's the facts. We'll take this for what it is, Greg.
- 23:08Speaker 1: Adam and I were at enough training camp practices to
- 23:10Speaker 1: be able to say, Elijah Mitchell had a better training
- 23:13Speaker 1: camp than Hollywood Brown. There was a time where– yeah,
- 23:16Speaker 1: I'm sorry. Elijah Moore had– we'll get to the Elijah
- 23:18Speaker 1: Mitchell in a little bit. Elijah Moore had a– there
- 23:22Speaker 1: was a time where he had to run with the
- 23:23Speaker 1: first team because there was no Devontae Smith. Somebody else
- 23:26Speaker 1: got hurt. And I get it. It's just training camp.
- 23:28Speaker 1: But he then– all of a sudden the season started
- 23:31Speaker 1: and he was like low on the totem pole. I
- 23:34Speaker 1: wouldn't mind, like Adam is saying, if you're going to
- 23:36Speaker 1: give Hollywood Brown a chance to prove what he's got
- 23:38Speaker 1: and he's not, why not stick Elijah out there and
- 23:41Speaker 1: see if he can't do it as well?
- 23:43Speaker 4: Well, at some point, look, they've been throwing the ball
- 23:45Speaker 4: a lot, probably a little more than they'd ideally want to. But,
- 23:50Speaker 4: you know, if you're throwing the ball, you've got to
- 23:52Speaker 4: throw it to someone. So the receivers are going to
- 23:54Speaker 4: be out there and we'll see how it shakes down.
- 23:58Speaker 4: But at some point, you've got to design your pass
- 24:00Speaker 4: game so that you're attacking at the intermediate areas of
- 24:03Speaker 4: the field. You can't live on five yard throws.
- 24:06Speaker 2: For sure.
- 24:07Speaker 1: All right, let me transition real quick here to something
- 24:09Speaker 1: that concerns me. I have the optimism about what maybe
- 24:12Speaker 1: they might be able to do in a running game
- 24:14Speaker 1: out of 11 personnel. Here's what concerns me. People always
- 24:17Speaker 1: remember what happened last, right? The Cowboys played it much
- 24:21Speaker 1: more conservatively on defense than other teams have played against
- 24:25Speaker 1: the Eagles in terms of blitzing, mugging up the gaps,
- 24:28Speaker 1: showing one thing, dropping into another. But this is the
- 24:31Speaker 1: wheelhouse for Durante Jones and what the commanders do. I mean,
- 24:35Speaker 1: they play, I think, the fourth highest rate of zero defensively.
- 24:38Speaker 1: Cover zero, they like to put different guys in the
- 24:40Speaker 1: line of scrimmage. We saw that in week one. And
- 24:42Speaker 1: this offensive line, I still wonder about the communication element,
- 24:46Speaker 1: the passing off of stunts, and if there's a lot
- 24:49Speaker 1: of guys at the line, the correct protection scheme, and
- 24:53Speaker 1: just the ability to communicate. Greg, would you agree that
- 24:57Speaker 1: that's something that is– bothered this team in the past
- 25:00Speaker 1: and we have to look at in this game?
- 25:01Speaker 3: Yeah, and I think that's the cohesion element.
- 25:03Speaker 4: And keep in mind, and we spoke about this even
- 25:06Speaker 4: before the season when we did previews of teams and
- 25:09Speaker 4: we spoke about the NFC East, they have the second
- 25:12Speaker 4: highest split percentage in the league because Durante Jones came
- 25:15Speaker 4: from Minnesota and Brian Flores. Now he's well behind Brian Flores.
- 25:18Speaker 4: They blitz about 70% of the time. But he's 44%
- 25:21Speaker 4: of the time. Do they rush five or more? So,
- 25:25Speaker 4: you know, they're going to pressure. And they're certainly going
- 25:29Speaker 4: to pressure Tanner McKee because he's a, for the most part,
- 25:33Speaker 4: a statuesque quarterback.
- 25:35Speaker 3: He's not going to beat you with his legs.
- 25:37Speaker 4: They're not going to worry about him, you know, beating
- 25:39Speaker 4: you with his legs, you know, getting out of the
- 25:41Speaker 4: pocket and making playmaking dimension kinds of plays. So you're
- 25:44Speaker 4: going to see pressure. Now, again, when you see pressure,
- 25:49Speaker 4: there's multiple things to do behind it. Brian Flores plays
- 25:52Speaker 4: a lot of zone behind it. So does Durante Jones.
- 25:55Speaker 4: So again, There are voids. If the ball can get
- 25:58Speaker 4: out and you can block it up enough, there are voids.
- 26:04Speaker 4: So that's going to be an interesting part of this game, Jeff.
- 26:09Speaker 2: We've mentioned on Greg's point about voids that he's a
- 26:12Speaker 2: seam runner. That's where he should get the football. That's
- 26:16Speaker 2: the intermediate game that's been missing, which we saw earlier
- 26:19Speaker 2: this season. We just haven't seen it lately.
- 26:21Speaker 1: Yeah, and I think we can agree Monday night, even
- 26:23Speaker 1: in a loss, Goddard and both Makai Lemon were able
- 26:26Speaker 1: to win some one-on-ones in their smaller, more condensed routes,
- 26:30Speaker 1: but they were able to get the ball and catch
- 26:32Speaker 1: the ball.
- 26:33Speaker 2: By the way, Goddard got them twice in week one.
- 26:35Speaker 2: He had a great game, four for 77 and two touchdowns.
- 26:37Speaker 2: He did.
- 26:37Speaker 3: So there you go.
- 26:38Speaker 1: So they've seen this.
- 26:39Speaker 4: Yeah, they don't play a ton of cover one. They
- 26:42Speaker 4: will play two-man. but they don't play a ton of
- 26:45Speaker 4: cover one. And by the way, that's very much like
- 26:48Speaker 4: the Vikings who don't play much cover one, but they
- 26:50Speaker 4: will play two man.
- 26:51Speaker 3: But for the most part, they're a zone based defense.
- 26:55Speaker 3: They play more two high than single high.
- 26:58Speaker 1: Who's the straw in this defense? You know, like I'm
- 27:01Speaker 1: trying to say like the catalyst. I mean, Sonny Styles,
- 27:03Speaker 1: a rookie. Has he been kind of the guy.
- 27:05Speaker 2: That he's been solid?
- 27:07Speaker 3: He's been a good player. Yeah. Yeah.
- 27:08Speaker 4: I mean, I don't know if I put him at
- 27:10Speaker 4: the level where he's the guy, but he's been a
- 27:12Speaker 4: good player.
- 27:13Speaker 1: Right. And how's Lou Vu been playing? Wasn't he hurt
- 27:15Speaker 1: earlier in the year?
- 27:16Speaker 3: He was hurt. He was hurt. Yeah. He's a good player.
- 27:19Speaker 4: You know, they don't have, I think Nick Cross is a,
- 27:22Speaker 4: is a very good player, but they don't really on
- 27:25Speaker 4: the D line right now. You don't feel like they're,
- 27:29Speaker 4: they have guys that you go, Ooh, you know, that's
- 27:32Speaker 4: my opinion anyway. I mean, you know, obviously chase on he's,
- 27:36Speaker 4: he's solid. You know, they have Owe who can, you know,
- 27:39Speaker 4: at any time he can make one of those plays
- 27:41Speaker 4: cause he's such a good athlete. But I wouldn't call
- 27:44Speaker 4: him one of the, you know, the more consistent edge
- 27:46Speaker 4: rushers in the game.
- 27:47Speaker 3: But he is very athletic.
- 27:49Speaker 2: So my understanding, Jeff, is that had Chanel not gotten hurt,
- 27:52Speaker 2: they were going to move Luvo a little bit as
- 27:55Speaker 2: an edge rusher.
- 27:56Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah.
- 27:57Speaker 2: Nickel situations. But, you know, he lost for the season
- 28:00Speaker 2: due to a neck injury.
- 28:02Speaker 4: Well, it's funny because under the previous staff, defensive coaching staff,
- 28:06Speaker 4: Luvo in their dime packages the last two years was
- 28:09Speaker 4: an edge rusher.
- 28:10Speaker 2: There you go.
- 28:11Speaker 3: Right. Right.
- 28:12Speaker 1: Well, this is going to be a big game for
- 28:13Speaker 1: both Sean Mannion and Tanner McKee to try to figure
- 28:16Speaker 1: out how to beat pressure, how to beat the Blitz.
- 28:18Speaker 1: The Eagles have allowed a 58% pressure rate against the
- 28:22Speaker 1: Blitz this year. That is the highest in the NFL.
- 28:25Speaker 1: So when you talk about matchups, right, and what a
- 28:28Speaker 1: team does well versus what a team doesn't do well,
- 28:31Speaker 1: you got to... I sat there and told you I
- 28:33Speaker 1: like the Eagles' ability to run out of 11 against
- 28:36Speaker 1: this commander's, but I am fearful of this team's ability
- 28:39Speaker 1: to block up the commander's blitz.
- 28:43Speaker 2: But again, I was very encouraged with the protection that
- 28:45Speaker 2: they gave to McKee. It's actually really good.
- 28:48Speaker 1: Yeah, but the Cowboys didn't do anything.
- 28:50Speaker 2: I hear you, but they won their matchups without pressure.
- 28:54Speaker 2: I understand that, but they won their matchups. And Greg
- 28:57Speaker 2: just outlined their front. It's not great. It's okay. There's
- 29:00Speaker 2: some talent on their front. If Kinlaw's out, we'll see
- 29:02Speaker 2: about Payne if he's able to play because this is
- 29:04Speaker 2: a new injury that just happened. So I'm a little
- 29:08Speaker 2: bit more encouraged. Now, we should mention Steve Wilks has
- 29:12Speaker 2: added to their defensive staff to help Geronci Jones out.
- 29:17Speaker 2: Adam Peters. And Peters had something to do, I'm sure,
- 29:19Speaker 2: because Peters was with Wilks in San Francisco, the Niners.
- 29:22Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 29:23Speaker 2: So they know each other. So let's just see what
- 29:26Speaker 2: happens here. But I am encouraged about their pass protection.
- 29:30Speaker 2: But you're right. The way you beat the Eagles this
- 29:32Speaker 2: season is you bring the heat because they didn't. And
- 29:36Speaker 2: in fact, remember the Jacksonville game, we couldn't believe that
- 29:39Speaker 2: their D-corner didn't bring the heat. the heat the first half.
- 29:40Speaker 2: Then they did, and you saw what happened.
- 29:42Speaker 1: Yeah, it became a big mess.
- 29:43Speaker 2: Yep, yep.
- 29:44Speaker 1: All right, let's move over. Let's talk about this Eagles
- 29:47Speaker 1: defense now against the Commanders offense. And I think everybody
- 29:50Speaker 1: right now, their big thing under the microscope is, will
- 29:54Speaker 1: the Eagles be able to rebound from horrific run defense
- 29:59Speaker 1: against the Cowboys? And on the peripheral, it looks like,
- 30:03Speaker 1: or if you like zoom out, they're going up against
- 30:05Speaker 1: another pretty good running team because the commanders are actually
- 30:08Speaker 1: a top 10 rushing team. They're in ninth with 125
- 30:11Speaker 1: rushing yards per game. However, this is the oddest thing
- 30:15Speaker 1: I've ever seen. They don't have a single running back
- 30:17Speaker 1: who's averaging more than four yards per carry. Their running
- 30:20Speaker 1: game is Jerry Daniels.
- 30:22Speaker 3: It's a very deceptive stat.
- 30:24Speaker 1: Right.
- 30:25Speaker 2: Right.
- 30:25Speaker 1: And by the way, their running game is Jayden Daniels
- 30:28Speaker 1: scrambles because they don't even run a whole lot of
- 30:31Speaker 1: design runs anymore compared to last year and the year
- 30:33Speaker 1: before for Jayden Daniels. So it's, listen, he's explosive, Greg.
- 30:37Speaker 1: I mean, he, I know he had two long runs
- 30:39Speaker 1: against the Giants and that really kept them in the game.
- 30:42Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 30:42Speaker 4: Well, they don't really have a back that can give
- 30:45Speaker 4: you any of that. I mean, they've got Rashad White,
- 30:47Speaker 4: they've got Austin Eckler, they brought back. I mean, they're,
- 30:50Speaker 4: you know, these guys don't really have any juice at all.
- 30:52Speaker 4: I mean, White's a good football player, but he's not
- 30:54Speaker 4: that guy. So, and obviously they must not thought much
- 30:59Speaker 4: of Katron Allen because they got rid of him. So,
- 31:02Speaker 4: and he's not obviously a burner anyway. So they don't
- 31:04Speaker 4: really have any juice in the backfield at all.
- 31:07Speaker 3: Right.
- 31:08Speaker 2: Greg, question off that. Have teams spied Daniels this season
- 31:12Speaker 2: that you've noticed?
- 31:15Speaker 3: Trying to think, because obviously he missed some time.
- 31:18Speaker 1: The habit hasn't worked.
- 31:20Speaker 3: Yeah. Let me just check.
- 31:24Speaker 4: I'm trying to remember if, uh, if the 49ers did,
- 31:26Speaker 4: you know, in the last game, um, because he hasn't
- 31:29Speaker 4: played a lot this year, obviously.
- 31:30Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 31:31Speaker 2: I'm just wondering, cause in week one, um, he, he
- 31:36Speaker 2: five for 31 on the ground, 6.2 yards are carried.
- 31:38Speaker 2: The big one was the 14 yarder. Prosky Merritt, who's
- 31:40Speaker 2: the juice guys out. He's on injury reserve. So, um, Jeff,
- 31:45Speaker 2: I was surprised. I think Katron Allen is back on
- 31:47Speaker 2: the practice squad, but man, to cut a draft pick
- 31:50Speaker 2: this early.
- 31:50Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 31:51Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 31:51Speaker 1: That was very surprising to Adam. I can answer your
- 31:54Speaker 1: question this way. If teams have spied Jaden Daniels, they've
- 31:57Speaker 1: done a poor job of it because he already has
- 32:00Speaker 1: 212 yards out of scrambles this year. That's the second
- 32:02Speaker 1: most in the NFL, but he's missed, he's missed games.
- 32:05Speaker 1: So his per game average is way higher and he's
- 32:08Speaker 1: got you know, a plus 86 on rushing yards over expectation.
- 32:12Speaker 3: I don't believe they did, by the way, looking at
- 32:14Speaker 3: my notes.
- 32:15Speaker 2: Didn't spy. Okay.
- 32:17Speaker 3: Okay.
- 32:17Speaker 1: 11.2 yards per carry on scramble.
- 32:20Speaker 3: All right.
- 32:20Speaker 1: So that means every time that Jayden Daniels takes off
- 32:23Speaker 1: with the ball under pressure, he gets a first down
- 32:25Speaker 1: for the commanders. That's their offense for the rushing offense.
- 32:28Speaker 2: Well, here's the thing. If you go back to the
- 32:30Speaker 2: Eagle Super Bowl year and Daniel's first year when he
- 32:32Speaker 2: was electric, that game when Hertz got hurt in the
- 32:36Speaker 2: first quarter, that was the one where Daniels had five touchdowns.
- 32:39Speaker 2: And he also burned them on the ground nine for 81.
- 32:41Speaker 3: Yeah, I remember that game.
- 32:43Speaker 2: This guy, when he's healthy, he's electric. He's got a
- 32:45Speaker 2: great arm. He's so smart. He's taken super well to
- 32:49Speaker 2: this West Coast offense that David Blau's running. It's just
- 32:52Speaker 2: that you've got an aging Stefan Diggs. You just don't
- 32:57Speaker 2: know what he has left. Williams they love, but he's
- 33:00Speaker 2: going to play inside. And Traylon Burks will start on
- 33:03Speaker 2: the outside, but he's an inconsistent guy who can run
- 33:05Speaker 2: for a size. Jeff, you've got to like this matchup
- 33:08Speaker 2: for the Eagles in terms of you're not worried about
- 33:10Speaker 2: anyone without McLaurin.
- 33:13Speaker 1: I know people are down on Jihad Campbell, but I
- 33:16Speaker 1: do think when you're dealing with a quarterback like Daniels
- 33:18Speaker 1: who can run and maneuver, I would rather have the
- 33:21Speaker 1: better athlete at the middle level of the field in
- 33:23Speaker 1: Campbell than Trotter. If you said they were playing a
- 33:27Speaker 1: team that has a really good running back and running game,
- 33:31Speaker 1: downhill running game, I want Trotter. But if I've got
- 33:34Speaker 1: to deal with a quarterback who's going to move around.
- 33:36Speaker 3: A little bit.
- 33:37Speaker 1: And to be honest with you, it doesn't matter how
- 33:39Speaker 1: good you are because Daniels is just really, really good
- 33:42Speaker 1: at running. But I'd still rather have a better athlete.
- 33:45Speaker 4: He threw the ball pretty well in the last game.
- 33:47Speaker 4: I mean, he missed a few that he has to make. But,
- 33:49Speaker 4: you know, a lot of quarterbacks do. And, you know,
- 33:51Speaker 4: that's the way the league is.
- 33:52Speaker 3: But he, for the most part, he made some big
- 33:55Speaker 3: time throws, especially in the second half against the Niners.
- 33:58Speaker 1: Greg, I also noticed they seem to be leaning into
- 34:00Speaker 1: the 13 personnel trend. They don't play it like nearly
- 34:03Speaker 1: as much as the Rams or Bears, but they're at
- 34:04Speaker 1: about 12% or 13%, which I believe is top 10
- 34:08Speaker 1: in the NFL.
- 34:09Speaker 3: Well, they played more snaps of 13 personnel versus the
- 34:12Speaker 3: Niners than 12 personnel. Wow. So only by one, but still,
- 34:17Speaker 3: they played nine snaps of 13 personnel.
- 34:19Speaker 2: And let's not forget about, well, not that he's going
- 34:22Speaker 2: to do anything. He's been a major disappointment to the
- 34:24Speaker 2: second rounder. Ben Sinnott's on the roster. He plays, you know,
- 34:27Speaker 2: he's part of that. Yeah, Colton Yankoff is also another
- 34:30Speaker 2: guy who they've kind of found.
- 34:31Speaker 1: Hey, watch your mouth.
- 34:32Speaker 2: Yeah, I know. That's his name.
- 34:33Speaker 3: I know.
- 34:33Speaker 2: I know. Yankov.
- 34:34Speaker 1: Yes, exactly.
- 34:37Speaker 2: Wow, I didn't know that they played that much 13. Wow,
- 34:39Speaker 2: that's interesting.
- 34:40Speaker 1: Well, you got to think. I mean, this might be,
- 34:42Speaker 1: and Greg could probably answer it, obviously without McLaurin. And
- 34:44Speaker 1: then they had some injuries earlier, too. They probably used,
- 34:47Speaker 1: I would think, Chig Okonkwo, the tight end, as a
- 34:50Speaker 1: flexed out.
- 34:51Speaker 3: Well, that's what he is.
- 34:54Speaker 2: Yeah, he missed time early season with a hamstring. Apparently,
- 34:56Speaker 2: he's looked phenomenal lately. Yeah.
- 34:59Speaker 3: He can run. He can run.
- 35:00Speaker 2: He's a small, like I was at their camp when
- 35:03Speaker 2: the Dolphins were in for a joint practice. He is
- 35:06Speaker 2: not a big, like he is a small frame guy,
- 35:08Speaker 2: but he could, Greg talked about it. He's a scene buster.
- 35:11Speaker 2: Like that's a guy, if you want to talk about
- 35:14Speaker 2: explosive playmaker, that's a guy that goes have to, he's
- 35:16Speaker 2: looked really good the last two games. Like he's a
- 35:18Speaker 2: guy I'd be concerned about. Yeah.
- 35:21Speaker 1: How about in the passing game, Greg? I mean, obviously
- 35:23Speaker 1: Cooper DeGene has struggled from the slot. You've got to
- 35:25Speaker 1: think the Eagles will be– it'll be interesting. So do
- 35:29Speaker 1: you think– I mean, we generally see Vic Fangio go
- 35:32Speaker 1: nickel even against 12 personnel. He's not afraid to do that.
- 35:35Speaker 1: 13 personnel, he'll go base. It'll be very interesting to
- 35:38Speaker 1: see just based on, A, what Washington does formationally, and, B,
- 35:44Speaker 1: how Vic feels about Cooper DeGene's coverage right now if
- 35:47Speaker 1: he's playing more base or nickel, wouldn't you think?
- 35:50Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 35:51Speaker 4: I mean, you know, it's so funny when I watch
- 35:53Speaker 4: the Eagles and I, I do this with all teams,
- 35:55Speaker 4: but it's hard because the things that you don't know
- 35:58Speaker 4: and that are very hard to know is how things
- 36:01Speaker 4: are coached within the context of the overall defense.
- 36:04Speaker 3: Like obviously if you're playing outside, you.
- 36:06Speaker 4: Know, when it's one-on-one you're, you're one-on-one, but a lot
- 36:08Speaker 4: of times inside, even if it looks like one-on-one, sometimes
- 36:12Speaker 4: there's help, you know, and, and, and there should be
- 36:15Speaker 4: help and there's not. And sometimes you don't know that,
- 36:18Speaker 4: you know, now it's, Do I think Dijon is a
- 36:20Speaker 4: great man-to-man defender?
- 36:22Speaker 3: I do not. But, you know, sometimes when I've watched
- 36:24Speaker 3: the tape, I think, you know, should there have been
- 36:26Speaker 3: help somewhere along the line? And it's tough to know
- 36:29Speaker 3: that because, you know, look, I think one of the
- 36:32Speaker 3: things about someone like Woolen is I think Woolen is
- 36:36Speaker 3: not great when it comes to playing the overall disciplines
- 36:40Speaker 3: of a defense. You know what I'm saying? I'm not
- 36:42Speaker 3: just talking about matching up one-on-one to a player.
- 36:45Speaker 4: I'm talking about playing the overall disciplines of a defensive call.
- 36:49Speaker 3: You know, I don't think that's his forte.
- 36:51Speaker 4: And I think that could be one reason why when
- 36:54Speaker 4: someone like Mike McDonald came to Seattle because he plays
- 36:57Speaker 4: a ton of zone and a ton of zone match
- 37:00Speaker 4: that requires a lot of understanding of routes and working
- 37:04Speaker 4: with your teammates. I think, you know, Wolin doesn't fit that.
- 37:07Speaker 4: And Vic is very much like that in their zone
- 37:10Speaker 4: coverage concepts. So, again, I'm not knocking Wolin because, you know,
- 37:13Speaker 4: like I said, it's hard to know that kind of
- 37:16Speaker 4: stuff for sure. But, you know, sometimes I wonder when
- 37:20Speaker 4: it looks like pure man, is it not pure man?
- 37:23Speaker 3: And it's hard to know the answer to that.
- 37:25Speaker 2: Fair.
- 37:26Speaker 1: I think whether it's man or zone, Cooper comes under
- 37:29Speaker 1: the microscope because Jaden Daniels targets slot receivers on 35%
- 37:35Speaker 1: of his passes.
- 37:36Speaker 4: Antonio Williams is a good player who's going to be
- 37:40Speaker 4: a very good player. I mean, look, I don't, I don't,
- 37:44Speaker 4: Both guys are rookies, so I have no idea how
- 37:46Speaker 4: their careers are going to work out. And careers are
- 37:49Speaker 4: very often based on a lot of things, as you know.
- 37:52Speaker 4: I personally, just coming out of college, I liked Antonio
- 37:55Speaker 4: Williams more than Mekhi Lemon.
- 37:57Speaker 3: But that's the way I tell it.
- 37:59Speaker 2: You're not the only one. There were a bunch of
- 38:01Speaker 2: receivers coaches I talked to. One guy said he gave
- 38:04Speaker 2: him a second-round grade and Williams went in third because
- 38:05Speaker 2: he's not a burner.
- 38:06Speaker 3: Right.
- 38:07Speaker 2: But I feel like.
- 38:09Speaker 3: He really understood how to run routes. For sure.
- 38:13Speaker 1: All right, so obviously Williams can play this slot, but
- 38:16Speaker 1: so does Steph Diggs, so Cooper DeGene is going to
- 38:19Speaker 1: have his work cut out for him, given that the
- 38:20Speaker 1: Eagles will most likely be in nickel quite a bit.
- 38:23Speaker 1: And then the other guy that we have to talk
- 38:25Speaker 1: about is Jalen Carter, who I don't know what's going
- 38:28Speaker 1: through his head. He said some really funny things in
- 38:30Speaker 1: the locker room this week about it doesn't really matter
- 38:32Speaker 1: what the fans want or I can't play that way
- 38:35Speaker 1: like I did. What was the big game?
- 38:36Speaker 2: Jacksonville.
- 38:37Speaker 1: He said something to the effect of I can't play
- 38:39Speaker 1: like that all the time because teams scheme me differently. Okay, maybe,
- 38:42Speaker 1: but you don't want to be I know you don't
- 38:44Speaker 1: want to be saying that.
- 38:45Speaker 3: I mean, clearly the D line of which he is,
- 38:48Speaker 3: is the one that comes the most under the microscope
- 38:51Speaker 3: because number one, you know, he can be a great
- 38:53Speaker 3: player and he's getting paid a lot of money. So
- 38:56Speaker 3: he's the one who comes under the microscope.
- 38:58Speaker 1: Right.
- 38:58Speaker 4: You know, that whole D line, including him, look, he
- 39:01Speaker 4: got handled in this game. I mean, there's no way
- 39:03Speaker 4: around it. You watch the tape and both guards Booker
- 39:06Speaker 4: at right guard and Tyler Smith at left guard, they
- 39:10Speaker 4: handled them. And it was, and it was not really
- 39:12Speaker 4: a struggle. I mean, there were one-on-one snaps in pass
- 39:15Speaker 4: pro where he got easily handled.
- 39:17Speaker 1: Yep.
- 39:18Speaker 3: And look, the bottom line is they're paying Davis and
- 39:21Speaker 3: Carter a lot of money and they're expecting them. You know,
- 39:24Speaker 3: no players dominant every snap. That's not my point.
- 39:26Speaker 4: I hope people understand that, but you know, there was
- 39:30Speaker 4: no impact by the D line and the interior D
- 39:33Speaker 4: line in the game.
- 39:34Speaker 3: They made no impact.
- 39:36Speaker 1: For sure. And by the way, it was week one
- 39:39Speaker 1: where Sam Cosme, I believe on inside the tape showed
- 39:42Speaker 1: many examples of Sam Cosme, the right guard for the commanders.
- 39:46Speaker 1: Who's like the last guy standing on their old line.
- 39:48Speaker 1: who was able to pretty much stone Jalen Carter for
- 39:51Speaker 1: quite a bit in that second half.
- 39:54Speaker 4: So, I mean, that D line, that has to become
- 39:58Speaker 4: a big factor in this game. Now, granted, we know
- 39:59Speaker 4: that the commanders don't have, you know, an elite run
- 40:02Speaker 4: game of any kind.
- 40:03Speaker 3: And even if the D line was not playing great,
- 40:06Speaker 3: it's not likely that the commander's backs, I'm not talking
- 40:08Speaker 3: about Daniels.
- 40:09Speaker 4: I'm talking about the commander's backs would rush for 140 yards,
- 40:12Speaker 4: but still they have to play better.
- 40:14Speaker 2: Now you should know he, that Carter got hurt in
- 40:17Speaker 2: week one against Washington. True. With a wrist. It's a fracture.
- 40:21Speaker 2: It's a hairline fracture, but it's a fracture. We should
- 40:23Speaker 2: also mention that Tony Williams did burn them in week one,
- 40:26Speaker 2: if you remember. He had a big 33-yard play. He scored. Yeah.
- 40:29Speaker 2: I think he beat– Greg might remember. Did he beat Dajin?
- 40:34Speaker 3: I think he did, yes.
- 40:35Speaker 1: It was Dajin. So did Diggs. Diggs had a touchdown
- 40:39Speaker 1: in that game. He helped him tie it, but then
- 40:41Speaker 1: he had a bad penalty.
- 40:43Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 40:43Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah.
- 40:45Speaker 4: Antonio Williams is a good player.
- 40:47Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
- 40:48Speaker 1: No, I mean, he was, he's got, he's going to
- 40:51Speaker 1: have to pick up the part of their passing offense
- 40:53Speaker 1: with McLaurin out and we'll see if he can continue.
- 40:56Speaker 1: He had that first touchdown against the Eagles in week one.
- 40:59Speaker 1: All right. So that's a look at what the commanders
- 41:02Speaker 1: will do on defense and what the Eagles will do
- 41:04Speaker 1: on offense and vice versa. We've gone through the matchup.
- 41:08Speaker 4: I just looked at my notes real quick. He did
- 41:09Speaker 4: not beat the gene. We don't want to leave that.
- 41:11Speaker 4: I just pulled up my notes. His 33 yards on
- 41:15Speaker 4: third and 14 early in the fourth corner came on
- 41:17Speaker 4: a flood concept versus Eagles cover three. Long developing route
- 41:21Speaker 4: concept with Williams working from the slot to the field
- 41:24Speaker 4: as the intermediate receiver into the boundary. It ended up
- 41:28Speaker 4: being a high low on boundary flat defender bond. Well-designed
- 41:32Speaker 4: concept that demanded strong pass protection. They slid to Ojomo
- 41:36Speaker 4: leaving right guard Cosme 101 with Carter and he stoned him.
- 41:41Speaker 2: On the 33 yarder.
- 41:42Speaker 3: That's the play. Yep.
- 41:43Speaker 2: Okay. And do we know who Diggs beat?
- 41:46Speaker 4: Diggs beat Dejean to the inside with outstanding short area
- 41:49Speaker 4: quickness on the 10-yard touchdown.
- 41:51Speaker 2: There you go.
- 41:52Speaker 1: All right, Carter and Cooper, definitely under the microscope for
- 41:56Speaker 1: this Sunday night showdown. All right, let's do what we
- 41:58Speaker 1: do best. We're going to predict this game. Adam, I
- 42:00Speaker 1: start with you. Who's going to win, and who's going
- 42:02Speaker 1: to be the player of the game?
- 42:03Speaker 3: Oh, boy.
- 42:04Speaker 2: I've got it. Eagles 23, Commandos 20. I don't feel
- 42:09Speaker 2: great about it. I'm feeling that. Now, again, this is– see,
- 42:14Speaker 2: we don't know yet. This may be– because of what
- 42:17Speaker 2: Saquon said after Friday's practice, this could be a game-time decision.
- 42:21Speaker 2: Or they may actually downgrade him. They might actually move
- 42:24Speaker 2: him from no-game status designation to questionable or doubtful. Who
- 42:27Speaker 2: the hell knows? But I'll put it this way. If
- 42:30Speaker 2: Saquon's playing, I'm going to pick them to win 23-20.
- 42:33Speaker 2: If he's not playing, they're going to lose. But one
- 42:37Speaker 2: thing that we didn't really talk much about, Greg, as
- 42:39Speaker 2: we turn it over to you, Elijah Mitchell as a
- 42:44Speaker 2: back for the system. Do you like him in the system?
- 42:46Speaker 3: Love him. He went to Louisiana. He was his own runner.
- 42:49Speaker 3: The Niners drafted him because of that. He had great
- 42:51Speaker 3: success with the Niners for a couple of years. He
- 42:54Speaker 3: ran the same system in college as the Niners, which
- 42:57Speaker 3: is theoretically the same system that the Eagles run to
- 43:00Speaker 3: a large extent. So he absolutely fits, you know, this style,
- 43:06Speaker 3: this system. So I've always liked Elijah Mitchell. He's not
- 43:10Speaker 3: a juicy guy, but he's a hard, You know, the
- 43:12Speaker 3: problem with him is he's not big, but he runs big.
- 43:15Speaker 3: So he gets hurt a lot, but he's, but he's
- 43:17Speaker 3: a very tough competitive physical runner.
- 43:20Speaker 2: Is that Louisiana tech?
- 43:22Speaker 3: It might just be straight Louisiana.
- 43:24Speaker 1: I think it used to be Louisiana. And then they
- 43:26Speaker 1: just chopped it off.
- 43:27Speaker 3: Right.
- 43:27Speaker 1: It became Louisiana.
- 43:29Speaker 3: Williams. It might be. Yeah.
- 43:31Speaker 2: Yeah. I thought it might be.
- 43:33Speaker 3: Yeah. I like Elijah Mitchell.
- 43:35Speaker 4: I mean, I always liked him just the way he runs,
- 43:36Speaker 4: but he's, You know, he's one of those guys that's
- 43:38Speaker 4: not big enough to run the.
- 43:39Speaker 3: Way he runs, but that's the way he runs.
- 43:41Speaker 2: Jeff, remember how good he was in, was it 21
- 43:43Speaker 2: or 20? He was a rookie in 21. I know
- 43:45Speaker 2: he had one really nice season, but then after that,
- 43:47Speaker 2: it was just injury, injury, injury, injury.
- 43:48Speaker 3: Yeah, he got hurt all the time.
- 43:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 43:50Speaker 3: Right.
- 43:51Speaker 1: I'm trying to think. Maybe I'm thinking of you, Louisiana Lafayette.
- 43:55Speaker 1: Louisiana Tech is not the same as University of Louisiana.
- 43:57Speaker 2: No, no, Louisiana Tech has worked for a long time.
- 43:59Speaker 3: I thought it was.
- 43:59Speaker 1: Okay.
- 44:00Speaker 2: Weren't the Raging Cajuns Louisiana Lafayette?
- 44:02Speaker 1: Yeah, I think it used to be called University of
- 44:04Speaker 1: Louisiana Lafayette, but now they just call it.
- 44:06Speaker 3: The Raging Cajuns. Oh, okay. That's it.
- 44:09Speaker 4: Dwight Bo Lamar. You guys remember Dwight Bo Lamar? He
- 44:12Speaker 4: was a basketball player.
- 44:13Speaker 2: I know the name, but I don't remember who he played. Oh,
- 44:16Speaker 2: is that who he played for? Wow.
- 44:17Speaker 1: I thought the Raging Cajuns were Southwest Louisiana State.
- 44:21Speaker 2: Yes.
- 44:21Speaker 1: I don't know why I know that.
- 44:26Speaker 2: That basketball player, was he in the 1920s? Who was
- 44:30Speaker 2: this guy?
- 44:30Speaker 3: He was in the 1970s, believe it or not.
- 44:33Speaker 1: How did his all 10 look?
- 44:35Speaker 4: He might have led the country in scoring, believe it
- 44:38Speaker 4: or not.
- 44:39Speaker 2: Oh, God. That sounds like a guy who was on NBC,
- 44:41Speaker 2: like Jim Simpson calling the game or something.
- 44:43Speaker 3: White Bolimar.
- 44:45Speaker 1: Pete Maravich was a Louisiana guy, right? Did he go
- 44:47Speaker 1: to LSU?
- 44:47Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 44:48Speaker 3: Yeah. I saw Pete Maravich play live. Did you really?
- 44:52Speaker 1: In New York?
- 44:53Speaker 3: In Madison Square Garden, yeah. Wow.
- 44:54Speaker 1: That must have been amazing.
- 44:55Speaker 2: I saw Pete.
- 44:56Speaker 3: Wow. Unbelievable.
- 44:57Speaker 1: I'm going to tell my grandparents.
- 44:58Speaker 3: I saw a lot of guys play live who were
- 45:00Speaker 3: big-time players back in the day. Yes, you did. I
- 45:02Speaker 3: saw Calvin Murphy play live. I saw a ton of
- 45:04Speaker 3: guys play live.
- 45:06Speaker 1: Calvin Murphy, the Rockets point guard?
- 45:08Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, he went to Niagara.
- 45:10Speaker 4: Yeah. And you know who was the head coach at
- 45:11Speaker 4: Niagara at the time? Who ended up becoming an assistant
- 45:14Speaker 4: in Philadelphia, a very well-known assistant.
- 45:16Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 45:17Speaker 1: Uh, is it's not Jay, right? Not Jay, right?
- 45:19Speaker 3: Jimmy Maloney.
- 45:20Speaker 1: Jimmy Maloney.
- 45:21Speaker 2: Wow.
- 45:22Speaker 1: There you go. By the way, Calvin Murphy is from Norwalk, Connecticut.
- 45:25Speaker 1: And if anybody cares, like move on, but anyway, enough
- 45:28Speaker 1: of the useless knowledge, Greg, you pick this game.
- 45:31Speaker 3: I think I got Eagles 45 commanders. Nothing.
- 45:35Speaker 1: Hey, listen, I can, um, this.
- 45:39Speaker 3: Is a hard one. I'm with Adam. This is a
- 45:40Speaker 3: really hard one.
- 45:41Speaker 1: I mean, you know, um, Hey, Philly fans, game day
- 45:45Speaker 1: is stressful enough. Parking, traffic, long lines, we've all been there.
- 45:50Speaker 1: But when it comes to your cannabis... Camden Apothecary makes
- 45:54Speaker 1: it easy. This is the dispensary for sports fans. Just
- 45:58Speaker 1: minutes outside of Philly with plenty of free parking. You'll
- 46:01Speaker 1: be in and out fast. No hassle. No waiting. And
- 46:04Speaker 1: they don't just care about convenience. Camden Apothecary is all
- 46:08Speaker 1: about the guest experience. Their staff makes sure you feel
- 46:12Speaker 1: taken care of every time you walk in. Plus, they
- 46:15Speaker 1: carry only the best quality cannabis at the fairest price.
- 46:20Speaker 1: So whether you're stocking up for the tailgate, the watch party,
- 46:23Speaker 1: or celebrating a big win, you know you're getting the
- 46:26Speaker 1: good stuff without overpaying. They even show love to the
- 46:30Speaker 1: community with specials for fans, students, service members, and healthcare pros.
- 46:36Speaker 1: Camden Apothecary, top quality cannabis, great prices, and an experience
- 46:40Speaker 1: made for Philly fans 21 and up.
- 46:44Speaker 4: The Barkley thing is so hard because if he was healthy,
- 46:47Speaker 4: I think they could run the ball really well. And, and,
- 46:50Speaker 4: and I think I would pick Barkley, but I just
- 46:52Speaker 4: don't know. I, you know, you, you, you know, he could,
- 46:54Speaker 4: he could start and get hurt on the first carry.
- 46:56Speaker 3: I mean, you don't know.
- 46:57Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 46:59Speaker 2: Which you saw.
- 47:01Speaker 3: I kind of feel like, because I, I, I know
- 47:06Speaker 3: that the Eagles defense was not good last week and
- 47:09Speaker 3: you know, that big fan Joe and that staff, you know, is,
- 47:14Speaker 3: they're not going to take kindly to that. Not that
- 47:16Speaker 3: other staffs would, but I mean, you know, I'm going
- 47:19Speaker 3: to pick the Eagles.
- 47:20Speaker 4: And it's a tough call. I'm almost uncertain as to
- 47:24Speaker 4: who to pick as player of the game. I guess
- 47:25Speaker 4: I have to pick somebody. But I'm going to pick
- 47:27Speaker 4: the Eagles to win 20-13.
- 47:31Speaker 3: And I don't know.
- 47:36Speaker 1: Don't be afraid to pick a defensive guy. I always
- 47:39Speaker 1: pick defensive guys. You guys don't do that. Adam occasionally does.
- 47:43Speaker 1: It's okay. A 20-13 means they play a good game.
- 47:46Speaker 3: I'm going to pick Zach Bond.
- 47:48Speaker 1: Oh, I like it. He was actually their best player
- 47:50Speaker 1: in week one.
- 47:50Speaker 3: I remember that.
- 47:51Speaker 1: It was unbelievable.
- 47:52Speaker 2: Yeah. You know what I'm going to do? I'm going
- 47:54Speaker 2: to pick Dallas Goddard.
- 47:56Speaker 1: Wait a minute. You already picked. Didn't you pick already?
- 47:58Speaker 3: No, no.
- 47:58Speaker 2: I didn't pick him. I didn't pick a player. I
- 47:59Speaker 2: just picked the game.
- 48:00Speaker 1: Oh, I thought you did. I thought you picked Saquon.
- 48:01Speaker 3: My fault.
- 48:02Speaker 2: No, because I don't know if he's playing or not.
- 48:04Speaker 3: Okay.
- 48:04Speaker 2: All right.
- 48:05Speaker 1: Well, you stole mine.
- 48:06Speaker 3: I was going to pick.
- 48:06Speaker 1: No, I'm just kidding.
- 48:07Speaker 3: Go ahead.
- 48:08Speaker 2: All right. No, no, no, no.
- 48:09Speaker 1: In fact, so here I'll set it up this way. Um,
- 48:13Speaker 1: doing this show has tilted me more in favor of
- 48:16Speaker 1: the Eagles than the commanders, because I'm now of the
- 48:20Speaker 1: belief that maybe Barkley will be, you guys are right.
- 48:22Speaker 1: It's all about Saquon Barkley. If he plays, I feel
- 48:24Speaker 1: so much more confident in them. Uh, but for most
- 48:27Speaker 1: of the week, I didn't think he was going to
- 48:28Speaker 1: be that impactful, even if he did play. So I'm
- 48:31Speaker 1: going to stick with my original pick, even though I've
- 48:34Speaker 1: starting to go the other way, I'm going with the
- 48:37Speaker 1: commanders 26 to to 20 and they're, I'm going to
- 48:41Speaker 1: pick Antonio Williams as the player of the game for
- 48:44Speaker 1: the commanders.
- 48:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 48:46Speaker 4: I just, I could be totally out of my mind,
- 48:47Speaker 4: but I just think the Eagles defense with, you know,
- 48:50Speaker 4: with a veteran coach like Vic who, you know, and, and,
- 48:53Speaker 4: and I think a pretty good staff on that side overall,
- 48:57Speaker 4: I just think they're going to have a really good game.
- 48:59Speaker 3: Maybe I'll be dead.
- 49:00Speaker 2: Think about it guys. This is the worst game since
- 49:03Speaker 2: Andrew has been here last week. I mean, they didn't
- 49:05Speaker 2: do anything. Well, like the game against the bears last year, Katie,
- 49:07Speaker 2: they got ran on like crazy. But this was an
- 49:10Speaker 2: embarrassment last week. So I'm with Greg. They should come
- 49:13Speaker 2: out fired up. That's part of it. Tanner McKee, I'm
- 49:18Speaker 2: just so mixed on. I don't know what to expect
- 49:19Speaker 2: from him.
- 49:20Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 49:21Speaker 2: But with Stowers back, he can run. With Goddard, how
- 49:27Speaker 2: healthy he is is a question. They're capable of doing better. And,
- 49:30Speaker 2: you know, the one thing before we get out of here,
- 49:32Speaker 2: I did like that he checked the ball down. Elijah
- 49:34Speaker 2: Mitchell had three catches.
- 49:35Speaker 3: He did. On the backfield.
- 49:36Speaker 1: Like, that was surprising. I mean, that was really late
- 49:38Speaker 1: in the game when the Cowboys were just basically saying,
- 49:40Speaker 1: take what you want. That's a good point.
- 49:43Speaker 2: That's a good point.
- 49:44Speaker 1: All right. That's it. We've broken down the game from
- 49:47Speaker 1: A to Z. Now it's left for the Eagles and
- 49:49Speaker 1: Cowboys to get it on on Sunday night football.
- 49:52Speaker 3: Commanders, yes.
- 49:53Speaker 1: I'm sorry. Commanders, right. On Sunday night football. For Greg
- 49:56Speaker 1: Cosell and Adam Kaplan, I'm Jeff Mosher.
- 49:58Speaker 2: Thanks.
- 49:59Speaker 1: You have been watching the Inside the Birds pregame show.
- 50:01Speaker 1: Catch you on the next one.
