  [SPEAKER_00]: Think he played an incredible game and the reason I bring him up is he's an example of a player.

  [SPEAKER_00]: You can hit on in the draft day two.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And obviously unbelievable that he was able to overcome everything he did health-wise and has early childhood and become such an unbelievable athlete.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But example of a player you can find in day two of the draft to really bolster your defensive front and the type of guy who he's not a starter for you at edge, but he plays like one.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think the Jaguar is really need to find that beyond Trayvom Walker and Josh Hines Allen.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So that's another guy maybe to keep an eye on, who knows.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And speaking of somebody who's about to be a free agent, definitely Jaguar's star line back or all pro, second team all pro line back or should have probably been first team.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Five interceptions, great run defender, great blitzer.

  [SPEAKER_00]: just had a hell of a season for the Jaguars.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He said it'd be a free agent.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He's probably, I mean, PFF projected him to get like 16 million per year.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think most projections have him higher than that.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I was more in the 18 to 20 million dollar range myself.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Just, and what I think is going to happen there.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But Devin Lloyd is set to be a free agent if the Jaguars don't resign him.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And as of now, or as of last week, before the Pro Bowl, when he talked to Kevin Patrick and NFL.com, there hadn't been any talks about a new contract, which doesn't mean there won't be one.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think history would suggest, based on where Liam Cohen and James Gladstone kind of come from with that LA Rams organization.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They probably won't be looking to spend $20 million on an off-ball linebacker.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Especially with the fact that they're already paying for a look and who is a very very good player in his own right so all that to say We've been talking about linebacker a lot on the channel throughout mock drafts a lot of folks have been mocking a linebacker to the Jaguars or potentially looking at a cheaper off-ball linebacker alternative than Devon Lloyd Somebody who I think that they really honed a

  [SPEAKER_00]: fantastic role for Devin Lillard in the defense and a lot of it was simplifying his coverage assignments, allowing him to attack down hill against the run, keeping him plain with a really good defensive line in the run game, and then also allowing him to blitz from different spots and making impact in the back field.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And so there's a prospect that we have talked about I've mocked to the Jack Wars and now Nick Bumgarner of the Athletic has also mocked him to the

  [SPEAKER_00]: And that's Jake Golday out of Cincinnati.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So we're going to talk about him today as a prospect and why I do think if the giant wars are looking to emulate a lot of what Devon Lloyd brought to them this year on the field, that Jake Golday could potentially be that guy, right?

  [SPEAKER_00]: resembles from a talent and physical profile.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Devon Lloyd, so we're going to get into that really appreciate y'all tuning in.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He's a linebacker who transferred to Cincinnati prior to the 2024 season.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He was at Central Arkansas before that.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And early on in his collegiate career at Central Arkansas, he was playing more as a end defensive end outside linebacker type player.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And basically, you know, would be looked at, like if he stated that spot as as a edge player.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He transferred to Cincinnati after playing more linebacker off ball.

  [SPEAKER_00]: in 2023, transferred over to Cincinnati, has been an off-ball linebacker for the last couple years, and had a really good first year in Cincinnati, I think he played even better, his final year at Cincinnati, and now he's projected to be potentially, maybe first round, but more than likely, probably a day two pick, and he's six foot four, 240 pounds.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He appears to have really good length, very, very explosive football player,

  [SPEAKER_00]: Again, when you look at what Devin Lloyd did best for the Jaguars, aside from turning the ball over and let's be very clear, Devin Lloyd coming out of Utah had a lot more experience in coverage, making plays in coverage than Jake Goldadus and Devin Lloyd had played some safety throughout his football career.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So he was definitely, in my opinion, more experienced and coverage.

  [SPEAKER_00]: However, he still had struggles in coverage throughout his NFL career before this year.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And I think the Jaguar simplifying things for him helped him a lot.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And knowing that they have disability from a coaching standpoint and scheme standpoint, too simplified coverage for a player like Jake Golday, who does have that run stuffing ability.

  [SPEAKER_00]: that strength, explosiveness, and the length that Devin Lloyd brought to the field, and also the ability to rush to quarterback, knowing that you have some of those similar skill sets and similar athletic and physical profile, maybe he's the type of guy that the Jaguars would like to identify and bring in.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They do have ventral Miller who was a fourth round pick.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They do have Jack Kaiser who was a fourth round pick by this organization, by this regime, by James Claude Stone and Liam Cohen and company just last year.

  [SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguar's might not feel that they need to sign Devon Lloyd or that they need to replace Devon Lloyd.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Because they also brought in a kid, Branson Collins, undrafted free agent, who I think acquitted himself very well last year.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I think they like him a lot.

  [SPEAKER_00]: There was times where I thought Jack Kaiser was out there making a play on the practice field, because you know, as the draft pedigree, the experience all that stuff, but no, it was Branson Colms.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And I think that the Jags might view their line-backer position as hey, Vintro Miller.

  [SPEAKER_00]: We know he can be a great run to Fender and he can make plays.

  [SPEAKER_00]: We have a strong belief in Jack Kaiser.

  [SPEAKER_00]: We also like Branson Colms.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And obviously, Boya Luke and is your number one guy still.

  [SPEAKER_00]: They might view this thing as, we're good.

  [SPEAKER_00]: You don't ever want to be in this mindset consistently as an organization of, you know, we're good because that's kind of where you can get yourself in trouble.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But they might say we feel confident in our linebacker position.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And if the right guy falls to a certain spot, maybe we'll do it, but we're not going to prioritize taking an off-ball linebacker with our first pick in the draft.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And I do think that Golday will be gone in all likelihood before 81, which is the Jaguar's second pick.

  [SPEAKER_00]: We also do know James Gladstone would be very willing to potentially move around the board.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He showed you that last year.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, I do think if the Jaguars are keen on replacing Devon Lloyd with a player that has a similar skill set physically and somebody who at Cincinnati did a lot of the things that the Jaguars asked Devon Lloyd to do last year and did them at a very high level, which again includes rushing the pastor from different spots, blitzing from different spots, playing extremely physical downhill against the run.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And he was effective in coverage last year.

  [SPEAKER_00]: You know, I think that, again, in a situation like he would find himself in Jacksonville, he could be even better in coverage and even more of a playmaker in coverage.

  [SPEAKER_00]: He did have three pass break ups last year.

  [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you still growing into being a coverage off ball landbacker.

  [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think he's ever gonna have like the smoothest

  [SPEAKER_00]: and most fluid hips and ability to turn and run with receivers, but I do think in a zone-based defense, he has a chance to be a decent player and coverage to definitely need some seasonings and coaching.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And again, the jacks have the ability to coach it up at the linebacker spot.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So if they're keen on replacing Devin Lloyd with a similar skill set player in my opinion, Jake Golday could be that guy.

  [SPEAKER_00]: But we just don't know how the Jaguar is really viewing this position.

  [SPEAKER_00]: And we don't even know that they're going to definitely let Devon live go.

  [SPEAKER_00]: It just seems like when you look at their cap situation, when you look at kind of precedent that the ramps have set as an organizational example, as an organization that the Jaguar is draw heavily from what they've done at linebacker.

  [SPEAKER_00]: It seems more like the Jaguar would potentially

  [SPEAKER_00]: rollin' with the guys they have or at, you know, taking Jack Kaiser for a little can ventrow Miller, Branson Colms, and maybe adding one more piece a little bit later in the draft than what you would probably have to do to land a Jake Golday, which probably would be at 56 or in a trade-down, maybe into the 60s, something like that.

  [SPEAKER_00]: So that's kind of my thoughts on Jake Golday, I do think.

  [SPEAKER_00]: There's definitely a comparable skill set with Devon Lloyd with Jake Golday.

  [SPEAKER_00]: If the Jaguars want to go that route, but it's still kind of be surprised if they spend 56 on an off-ball linebacker.
