- 0:11Speaker 2: was before we even got to Christmas.
- 0:12Speaker 3: Can you come down and just give me one of
- 0:14Speaker 3: those tarts that I brought him to share?
- 0:16Speaker 2: But you just have to be eating a lot. I
- 0:19Speaker 2: don't even know how old these are.
- 0:21Speaker 3: They're good enough to eat, that's all I'm saying. I'll
- 0:24Speaker 3: have the chocolate, the chocolate looking one.
- 0:26Speaker 2: Where's this from? Ferguson player? So if it makes you
- 0:29Speaker 2: feel any better, the owner of this will found or
- 0:32Speaker 2: whatever drives rolls. Royce Phantom really so by you stuffing
- 0:35Speaker 2: your face with those sweet treats helping fund his extravagant lifestyle.
- 0:40Speaker 2: Ferg I love how you're eating it with the fucking
- 0:43Speaker 2: the rapper still on it. That's disgusting. It's like an
- 0:46Speaker 2: aluminum foil wrapper. It's good disgust.
- 0:51Speaker 1: There go, Lack your buduciary, bro, you're having the rolls rise.
- 0:56Speaker 2: Good now you're right now right Christopher's case, Jesus, all right,
- 1:02Speaker 2: here we go. No, no, no, that was that's part
- 1:04Speaker 2: of it. You're on.
- 1:04Speaker 3: Hey, listen, we have a tradition every year around this
- 1:09Speaker 3: time around Christmas time where I buy We have this
- 1:14Speaker 3: tradition every year where I buy you something and.
- 1:16Speaker 1: You get me fuck all. So I thought I would
- 1:19Speaker 1: carry that on.
- 1:20Speaker 2: Go on, where's my present?
- 1:23Speaker 1: I've got you a real present. There's a big thing.
- 1:25Speaker 2: Really.
- 1:25Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I'm actually genuinely excited for this.
- 1:27Speaker 2: There's another lawsuit?
- 1:28Speaker 1: No no, no, hang.
- 1:29Speaker 2: On, stay there, stay there. Unfortunately he's rifling through his
- 1:34Speaker 2: bag at the moment, but not his middle finger. Yeah,
- 1:39Speaker 2: not looking a big deal, not looking.
- 1:47Speaker 1: Don't you love it? It's a B y D.
- 1:50Speaker 2: I wonder where this is made?
- 1:51Speaker 1: Sri Lanka.
- 1:53Speaker 2: It was made in Sri Lanka and not China. But
- 1:55Speaker 2: it's made one size fits most. What if you have
- 1:58Speaker 2: an enormous brain, Well you.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Have a big head, and that's about it.
- 2:02Speaker 2: Put it on, Put it on, put it on? No, no, no,
- 2:05Speaker 2: take your headphones off, no no, put it on. It
- 2:07Speaker 2: is it's on.
- 2:09Speaker 1: No no, no, generally because it's a dad heart. There
- 2:13Speaker 1: we go, look at it.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Hang on, I'll get the driver's show in the background. Beautiful.
- 2:20Speaker 1: Am I to send that to my good friends at
- 2:21Speaker 1: B y D?
- 2:23Speaker 2: Yeah? Anyway, Merry Christmas is a good friend slash sponsors.
- 2:26Speaker 3: Then they're really don't. I wish they were anyway. Yeah,
- 2:31Speaker 3: Merry Christmas.
- 2:32Speaker 2: Yeah, likewise, Mary xmis do you celebrate Christmas?
- 2:36Speaker 3: Everyone else is doing like a family sort of situation.
- 2:38Speaker 3: Paul's family just goes to the casino.
- 2:41Speaker 1: It's the only place that's open.
- 2:42Speaker 2: The kids in the car and let's go.
- 2:45Speaker 1: Yeah, let's go have a seafood feast.
- 2:47Speaker 2: Well, welcome to the Driver's Show, formerly known as Another Show,
- 2:51Speaker 2: Another show, but that's cool following legal action. Okay, yeah,
- 2:55Speaker 2: we're going a big show today. We're going to talk
- 2:57Speaker 2: about some Japanese car stuff. We're going to talk about
- 3:00Speaker 2: some big old trucks and an even bigger truck that
- 3:04Speaker 2: is electric. So I'm really looking forward to that. And
- 3:07Speaker 2: thank you also for your emails. It was it was
- 3:10Speaker 2: very encouraging to see so much support for us over
- 3:13Speaker 2: the break and following the news of everything, news of things,
- 3:17Speaker 2: everything that's happened. So yes, thank you for that.
- 3:20Speaker 3: It was a very professional intro by you, Paul. Yeah, god,
- 3:24Speaker 3: we were in danger of sounding a bit too professional.
- 3:26Speaker 2: You're in danger of losing your job. I could probably
- 3:29Speaker 2: do daytime radio.
- 3:30Speaker 1: Look, I love it.
- 3:30Speaker 3: Oh my god, I would love to hear pretty straightforward.
- 3:33Speaker 3: Let's let's hear you do. I think you've done Smooth
- 3:35Speaker 3: FM before. Let's hear you do Top forty Radio.
- 3:39Speaker 2: All right, it's one twenty pm, folks, and it's time
- 3:44Speaker 2: to play.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Some Taylor Swift with It's a song. It's a song called.
- 3:51Speaker 2: What's a Dance with It? Or whatever? It's called doing dance?
- 3:56Speaker 3: What is it that shake it off?
- 3:59Speaker 1: I don't know so many that one on what radio?
- 4:03Speaker 1: You did?
- 4:03Speaker 2: Do? The call sign on The Driver's Show with Him,
- 4:06Speaker 2: formerly known as.
- 4:12Speaker 1: Everything's Normal in your World? What have you have you
- 4:16Speaker 1: been driving? Anything exciting?
- 4:19Speaker 2: Anything?
- 4:19Speaker 3: You kind of go, wow, that was surprising. Can I
- 4:23Speaker 3: tell you one thing that was surprising for me? I
- 4:24Speaker 3: know it's been out for a while, but the facelifted palisade.
- 4:29Speaker 2: It's actually like, it does look nice now. It looks
- 4:32Speaker 2: so much better, especially with the black package. Yeah you know, yeah,
- 4:36Speaker 2: I think that looks good.
- 4:37Speaker 3: The top speck on that is like a weird kind
- 4:40Speaker 3: of chroamy pewtery color.
- 4:43Speaker 1: I'm like, well, you guys should not have done that.
- 4:44Speaker 3: You should have just blacked it out because the black
- 4:46Speaker 3: looks so much better. And I guarantee now people ordering
- 4:50Speaker 3: Topspec are just going to take that to a just
- 4:53Speaker 3: dip it or whatever and get that fixed up deleted.
- 4:57Speaker 1: But it's like, that's that. That was a car that
- 5:00Speaker 1: has surprised me.
- 5:01Speaker 2: I was like, ah, well, actually that is surprising, but
- 5:04Speaker 2: also the newness and pathfinder is surprising. I just drive
- 5:06Speaker 2: that recently, and that thing is really good. So you
- 5:09Speaker 2: can get it in seven or eight seats, and in
- 5:11Speaker 2: the seven seat version as captain's chairs in the second row,
- 5:14Speaker 2: and you can remove the second row sort of storage
- 5:17Speaker 2: thing to create a walk through for the kids so
- 5:21Speaker 2: they can walk through to the third row.
- 5:22Speaker 1: Oh you mean like the what is effectively the boot.
- 5:25Speaker 2: No, but they've got if you come into the car
- 5:28Speaker 2: through the second row, they've got like a sliding storage
- 5:32Speaker 2: box with cup holders. You can take that out entirely
- 5:35Speaker 2: and then use that as access for the kids. And
- 5:39Speaker 2: the doors open almost ninety degrees so you can actually
- 5:41Speaker 2: get baby seats and stuff. And it's a really clever car.
- 5:44Speaker 2: So yeah, that was quite surprising.
- 5:46Speaker 3: It just doesn't like to me, I was expecting more
- 5:49Speaker 3: with the looks of it.
- 5:50Speaker 1: It just doesn't look face enough.
- 5:52Speaker 3: Yeah, it looks okay, it looks fine, but I'm like,
- 5:55Speaker 3: bring something like striking to the party.
- 5:58Speaker 2: It might be hard to please you know.
- 5:59Speaker 1: Who, please me, Donna.
- 6:03Speaker 3: Daniel gives it a fair old as well, start even
- 6:06Speaker 3: getting started. Daniel is probably the one that started that,
- 6:09Speaker 3: the reason why we had to take a bit of
- 6:12Speaker 3: a break. Thanks Daniel, Daniel, Thanks Daniel. He's like, no worries,
- 6:18Speaker 3: mister Gordy's Hey, I've noticed there's a nice.
- 6:22Speaker 1: Little Scottish car out there. They've built a brick.
- 6:27Speaker 2: They've built a brick, an electric brick.
- 6:29Speaker 3: It looks like the cross between Elon's cyber truck and
- 6:35Speaker 3: something I made in grade six.
- 6:37Speaker 1: It just looks like a school project.
- 6:40Speaker 3: It's a it's out of Monroe, that's the company, and
- 6:43Speaker 3: it's a four x four and it's I'm sort of
- 6:46Speaker 3: in two minds because it's sort of kind of cool,
- 6:50Speaker 3: and then you look at it from all sorts of
- 6:52Speaker 3: angles and you're.
- 6:53Speaker 1: Just like, Jesus, what is going on?
- 6:57Speaker 3: It honestly looks like it looks like the project someone
- 7:01Speaker 3: did it like sheet metal tape.
- 7:03Speaker 2: Yeah, it kind of does look like that. And I
- 7:05Speaker 2: love their sketch. It's literally two bricks on top of
- 7:08Speaker 2: each other.
- 7:09Speaker 3: This sketch is literally like something someone would have drawn
- 7:12Speaker 3: in primary school.
- 7:13Speaker 2: It's so interesting. So it's a really just fascinating vehicle
- 7:19Speaker 2: because they're saying it's the world's most capable off road
- 7:23Speaker 2: all electric four by four and some of the specs
- 7:27Speaker 2: of fascinating. So they're saying, enters production in twenty twenty three,
- 7:31Speaker 2: we'll see about that one thousand kilos payload, thirty five
- 7:34Speaker 2: hundred kilogram towing capacity, and a sixteen hour off road
- 7:38Speaker 2: duty cycle on a single battery charge, which is interesting.
- 7:43Speaker 2: So they're saying that it uses electric motors that aren't
- 7:48Speaker 2: quite like electric motors in other evs, So between five
- 7:51Speaker 2: thousand and eight thousand rpm. Sometimes electric motors can spin
- 7:55Speaker 2: up to twenty thousand rpm. So that means that those
- 7:58Speaker 2: RPMs allow it to effectively have a low range transfer
- 8:02Speaker 2: case without having a low range transfer case. It's actually
- 8:07Speaker 2: hold on it says this negoates the need for a
- 8:08Speaker 2: reduction drive, enabling drive to be taken directly to the
- 8:11Speaker 2: transmission transfer case from the motor. Interesting, so by combining
- 8:15Speaker 2: a two speed transmission, the motor can work at low
- 8:17Speaker 2: speeds with greater efficiency. Yeah. Wow, two hundred and twenty
- 8:21Speaker 2: kilowats or two hundred and eighty kilowatts and two battery
- 8:24Speaker 2: pack sizes as well.
- 8:26Speaker 1: This is what I love. Zero or one hundred and
- 8:27Speaker 1: nine to five seconds really.
- 8:29Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know that i'd want to be doing
- 8:31Speaker 2: one hundred in that thing.
- 8:33Speaker 3: I mean they've got a good testing ground Scotland is
- 8:35Speaker 3: if you're going to test a four by four, yeah,
- 8:37Speaker 3: that's that's where you want to go.
- 8:39Speaker 2: Yeah, twenty two kilowatts three phase A C charging, which
- 8:42Speaker 2: is pretty good. So look, the specks actually look pretty decent.
- 8:45Speaker 2: So yeah, and it's very basic inside. It doesn't.
- 8:48Speaker 3: Sort of a fairly new company. Monroe too. Twenty nineteen.
- 8:52Speaker 3: I think they started, and I think it was started
- 8:55Speaker 3: from privately funded investors, like a it's a real startup.
- 9:00Speaker 2: I'm having Look here it says here Monroe claims it
- 9:02Speaker 2: will be the first automotive manufacturer to build cars at
- 9:04Speaker 2: scale in Scotland since Pergio Talbot closed It's Lindwood plant
- 9:08Speaker 2: nineteen eighty one. So there you go. They're bringing Scotland
- 9:12Speaker 2: back on the map of manufacturing.
- 9:14Speaker 1: Fun were they ever on the map?
- 9:16Speaker 2: Well in nineteen eighty one. Yeah, So I think it's cool.
- 9:21Speaker 2: I'll be keen to see what this is like, and
- 9:22Speaker 2: I hope it eventually comes to Australia. I don't.
- 9:26Speaker 3: I will sit on that and just kind of put
- 9:29Speaker 3: my foot down and go. I could not give a
- 9:31Speaker 3: shit if this car comes to Australia. I'd prefer the
- 9:34Speaker 3: Bronco to come to Australia, and that probably won't be happening. No,
- 9:37Speaker 3: what about the one fifty that is coming. That is coming,
- 9:40Speaker 3: isn't it. They're doing right.
- 9:41Speaker 2: Hand drive conversions for that in Australia as well, so
- 9:44Speaker 2: they have prototypes ready and everything is sort of coming
- 9:46Speaker 2: along nicely. So that will go on sales. Right hand
- 9:48Speaker 2: drive vehicle, that's what you should get.
- 9:50Speaker 1: You should get that.
- 9:51Speaker 2: Yeah, but it's only just the normal one. They're not
- 9:53Speaker 2: bringing the Raptor or anything like that just yet.
- 9:55Speaker 1: There is a there is an F one fifty Raptor though, right.
- 9:57Speaker 2: No, yeah, but just not for right hand drive just yet.
- 10:00Speaker 2: And they've just done a Raptor R, which is a
- 10:01Speaker 2: supercharge V. To answer the baha, yeah, to answer the
- 10:06Speaker 2: t rex. Oh okay, yeah.
- 10:07Speaker 3: You know what I've seen on the road a lot rams,
- 10:10Speaker 3: I've seen a lot. I'm talking about the car I've
- 10:12Speaker 3: seen a lot.
- 10:13Speaker 1: I was driving out.
- 10:14Speaker 3: Territory and Jesus keep away from his bloody sheep.
- 10:19Speaker 1: All right, Yeah, no, I've seen a lot of Rams
- 10:22Speaker 1: on the road.
- 10:22Speaker 3: It's so funny because there's a lot of body kits
- 10:25Speaker 3: on them and I can't tell if they're factory like
- 10:27Speaker 3: genuine or not. They really just go all out with
- 10:31Speaker 3: the weirdest shit. Some of it looks amazing, some of
- 10:34Speaker 3: it not so much. But there is a lot more
- 10:36Speaker 3: here in Australia now right, and the sales are killing.
- 10:39Speaker 2: Yeah. I love this because Walkinshaw who is basically doing
- 10:44Speaker 2: all the conversion of the Ram trucks and also the
- 10:46Speaker 2: Silverados as well. These guys basically worked on HSV's back
- 10:51Speaker 2: in the days hot up commodorees and that was.
- 10:54Speaker 1: That's a family company that still gets going too, so
- 10:56Speaker 1: it was.
- 10:56Speaker 2: A lucrative business. But no one ever thought that, you like,
- 11:00Speaker 2: when these first started coming out as right hand drive,
- 11:02Speaker 2: I was like, oh, I didn't know that there's really
- 11:04Speaker 2: a long term business case on this. They have just
- 11:07Speaker 2: constantly broken records. They're on track to sell almost ten
- 11:11Speaker 2: thousand rams this year. Last month they delivered seven hundred
- 11:18Speaker 2: and ten rams, which is ridiculous. They manufactured nine hundred
- 11:24Speaker 2: of them out of their remanufacturing facility. And the other
- 11:27Speaker 2: cool thing as well is they outsold last month the
- 11:32Speaker 2: Nissa Nevara. So more people are paying over well in
- 11:36Speaker 2: excess of one hundred thousand dollars for a Ram than
- 11:38Speaker 2: they are well under one hundred thousand dollars for in
- 11:40Speaker 2: this and Navara, which I find absolutely staggering. And we
- 11:44Speaker 2: recently did a big yut comparison that'll be coming out
- 11:47Speaker 2: soon where we tested the Ram TIERX. That thing is
- 11:50Speaker 2: an absolute beast. That is well north to two hundred
- 11:52Speaker 2: grand worth of worth of car, and you see a
- 11:54Speaker 2: few of those on the road now as well.
- 11:56Speaker 3: So here's my thing. Though Australian roads are different from
- 12:00Speaker 3: Oaken roads. They're a lot narrower, they aren't really built
- 12:05Speaker 3: for speed in a lot of ways.
- 12:09Speaker 2: Well you say that, but I didn't have any issues
- 12:12Speaker 2: driving TRX around. Our roads are no sort of smaller
- 12:18Speaker 2: than American rale, I don't think so. I've driven plenty
- 12:22Speaker 2: of these pickup trucks locally and they don't feel any
- 12:25Speaker 2: worse on Australian roads.
- 12:27Speaker 1: I don't think they feel worse.
- 12:29Speaker 3: I just think it's probably a little bit tougher to
- 12:33Speaker 3: kind of get along in a lot of ways.
- 12:34Speaker 2: Well, it is if you go into a shopping center
- 12:36Speaker 2: or something like that, but.
- 12:37Speaker 3: Which you don't do you just had the maid to
- 12:40Speaker 3: do that. Yeah, it's half of a reason why you
- 12:41Speaker 3: got married.
- 12:42Speaker 2: Even parking a dual cab ued at a shopping center,
- 12:44Speaker 2: it's a normal sized one, is hard work. So this
- 12:46Speaker 2: is always going to be tricky. But yeah, to me,
- 12:49Speaker 2: I think that I think that we're going to see
- 12:51Speaker 2: more and more of these on the road, and the
- 12:53Speaker 2: appetite for them is growing. Eventually, we will get to
- 12:56Speaker 2: the stage where the sales of these are so high
- 12:59Speaker 2: that they actually start manufacturing them out of the States
- 13:02Speaker 2: in right hand drive, and that's when I think we
- 13:04Speaker 2: will see just a huge over run of these because
- 13:07Speaker 2: they will be priced competitively with standard sort of duel cabute.
- 13:10Speaker 2: So yeah, it is. It is fascinating times. And I
- 13:14Speaker 2: can see you.
- 13:14Speaker 1: In one of these, actually absolutely, I can see you
- 13:17Speaker 1: in there.
- 13:17Speaker 3: Bloody kicking back American style, eating a bloody hot dog
- 13:20Speaker 3: with Trevor, Like I can see it happening, just listening
- 13:24Speaker 3: to some Kenny Rodgers or something.
- 13:27Speaker 2: You and Trevor.
- 13:28Speaker 3: You guys would be sharing like the same foot Long,
- 13:31Speaker 3: it'd be like lady in the trap, just like sucking
- 13:34Speaker 3: down a bit of spaghetti. But it just seems like
- 13:36Speaker 3: your wildest dream here at the moment, getting closer and
- 13:38Speaker 3: closer as you double.
- 13:41Speaker 2: Dog that double dog a little bit of double dogging.
- 13:47Speaker 2: But yeah, so it's really cool. So they Ram Trucks
- 13:50Speaker 2: Australia employed six hundred and forty one Australians, so, which
- 13:54Speaker 2: is pretty cool. So it is a big industry at
- 13:56Speaker 2: the moment and supporting locals as well, which I love
- 13:59Speaker 2: to see too.
- 14:00Speaker 3: So you know who I haven't heard from him in
- 14:02Speaker 3: a while is Trevor Long, who you two would have
- 14:06Speaker 3: some sort of hot dog rendezvous in one of these cars.
- 14:10Speaker 3: And I saw him on Twitter the other day. I'm like,
- 14:12Speaker 3: oh fuck, jeez, I'd love to piss you off again.
- 14:19Speaker 1: We should get him on at some point, what do
- 14:21Speaker 1: you reckon?
- 14:23Speaker 2: I know we were like, we're not disgrace yourself.
- 14:25Speaker 1: I know we're already like that.
- 14:27Speaker 3: The last sort of legal issues have just settled down
- 14:30Speaker 3: and we could potentially start some new ones.
- 14:33Speaker 1: We should do a check in. Should I call him up?
- 14:36Speaker 2: I've got his number, you don't I don't think he'll
- 14:38Speaker 2: answer you don't reckon, No, I wouldn't.
- 14:42Speaker 3: I'm gonna try it. Oh, this would be amazing if
- 14:45Speaker 3: he answers. I'm gonna make sure it's on a private number, though.
- 14:48Speaker 1: Should I talk? Should you talk?
- 14:52Speaker 4: Ring?
- 14:52Speaker 1: Ring?
- 14:53Speaker 2: Ring? I'll talk with you.
- 14:56Speaker 1: Hello, God, even the way he answers the phones annoying.
- 15:01Speaker 3: Hello, is that Trevor long Steak. It's Gordy and Paul
- 15:06Speaker 3: here from the Driver's Show podcast.
- 15:07Speaker 1: How are you?
- 15:08Speaker 4: Who else would be calling me on this day?
- 15:10Speaker 2: Well?
- 15:11Speaker 1: Who else would be calling you in general?
- 15:14Speaker 2: I mean, well, I've.
- 15:15Speaker 4: Got a long list of quaints to Sinka rama.
- 15:18Speaker 1: Yeah, sure, so, welcome to the show.
- 15:21Speaker 4: By the way, it's great to be here, isnt Trevor?
- 15:26Speaker 4: About fifteen exactly?
- 15:28Speaker 2: I'll make it known to you that Gordy has just
- 15:31Speaker 2: gifted me a BYD hat and I'm convinced that he's
- 15:34Speaker 2: on the take with BYD.
- 15:36Speaker 1: I'm really not well.
- 15:38Speaker 4: Else would what else would he be so angry about
- 15:40Speaker 4: me just getting the driver's vehicle? I mean, it's just
- 15:44Speaker 4: remarkable how up tidy is about the whole thing. He
- 15:47Speaker 4: shall be the reason they put the price up by
- 15:49Speaker 4: three grand?
- 15:50Speaker 3: All right, all right, Trevor, coming down with your little
- 15:53Speaker 3: flex of knowledge there, Hang on, we should do a
- 15:57Speaker 3: bit of backstorry for those who don't know. Basically, a
- 15:59Speaker 3: long time ago, I was given the Australian first. I
- 16:01Speaker 3: was given the Australian.
- 16:03Speaker 1: Exclusive to drive the by d at oh three.
- 16:07Speaker 2: Now how it went?
- 16:08Speaker 3: Was our good compadre Trevor Long. He was showing it
- 16:12Speaker 3: off on his little program on.
- 16:17Speaker 1: The what is it called the Today Show or something?
- 16:19Speaker 2: The Today Show with Today? Yeah?
- 16:22Speaker 3: Right, they don't even have a blood do they even
- 16:24Speaker 3: have two hosts at the moment. They don't even know
- 16:26Speaker 3: who's feeling in that. That thing is just a revolving tool.
- 16:29Speaker 4: Carl steff and over against Sarah Arbor. It's going to
- 16:31Speaker 4: be great twenty twenty three.
- 16:32Speaker 1: Yeah, who is it?
- 16:33Speaker 2: Cart?
- 16:33Speaker 4: From January sixteenth?
- 16:35Speaker 2: Carlos and who?
- 16:37Speaker 4: That's what we need to remember.
- 16:38Speaker 1: Okay, Jesus, did you just sniff?
- 16:40Speaker 3: Then?
- 16:40Speaker 1: Have you got a plate of bloody cocaine in front
- 16:42Speaker 1: of you? What are you doing?
- 16:44Speaker 4: I've been quite sick all week, but I've got out
- 16:46Speaker 4: of my sick there to speak to you.
- 16:47Speaker 1: Oh that's kliness all right.
- 16:49Speaker 4: Anyway, A stupid backstory, A no.
- 16:51Speaker 3: No, So then I was I was promised this, and
- 16:54Speaker 3: then you did your little show off on the Today
- 16:57Speaker 3: Show and then handed me the keys, and I was like, okay, cool.
- 17:02Speaker 3: And by the way, you weren't driving, and you weren't
- 17:04Speaker 3: supposed to give any driving impressions on it. You were
- 17:07Speaker 3: just supposed to showcase it on there next to whatever
- 17:10Speaker 3: your segment was. Things to have in fucking twenty twenty two.
- 17:12Speaker 3: You should have this fridge, this vacuum, this car. I'm
- 17:16Speaker 3: Trevor long Sea later, right, That's all you're supposed to do.
- 17:19Speaker 3: And then you handed the keys to me, and I
- 17:21Speaker 3: was supposed to have the first drive, drop out driving impressions,
- 17:24Speaker 3: all that sort of thing, and then within twenty four
- 17:27Speaker 3: hours of doing that, you jumped on your little YouTube
- 17:30Speaker 3: channel and put out first fucking driving impressions.
- 17:33Speaker 4: It went well too, Jesus. It was a good video.
- 17:37Speaker 4: Numbers shot up Marreck nos this. You know you have
- 17:39Speaker 4: a good burst of early numbers. It was great. The
- 17:41Speaker 4: problem with your funal little story is I don't know
- 17:44Speaker 4: what you're talking about. No one knows what you're talking about.
- 17:47Speaker 4: You've made this story up on your own, haven't made
- 17:49Speaker 4: I I've been I've been working alongside Luke and the
- 17:53Speaker 4: team at BYD for two three years.
- 17:57Speaker 1: Dropping the CEO. Look at you dropping CEOs. Now, I've
- 18:00Speaker 1: been working alongside with Luke. What have you been doing
- 18:03Speaker 1: playing golf and eating hot dogs?
- 18:05Speaker 4: Playing the game? Mate, It's what we do. What we're
- 18:07Speaker 4: doing this game exactly, the networking game exactly. I want
- 18:11Speaker 4: assured you of something. And then here's what they shouldn't
- 18:13Speaker 4: have done. Here is the first tip you should have
- 18:15Speaker 4: had that that wasn't going to happen was when they said,
- 18:18Speaker 4: can you come pick up the car? You're picking it
- 18:20Speaker 4: up from another journey.
- 18:22Speaker 2: Yeah, you're playing in the first indicator.
- 18:27Speaker 3: I'm We're gonn't fade this clown down Jesus for someone
- 18:31Speaker 3: who's apparently had COVID or whatever it had, cheesy talks
- 18:34Speaker 3: a lot.
- 18:34Speaker 1: Here's the situation. The thing that you just said there
- 18:37Speaker 1: is the game. And that's exactly why.
- 18:39Speaker 3: We started this thing, because all these journeys in the
- 18:43Speaker 3: fucking pockets of these car companies there, Bloody b one e.
- 18:47Speaker 3: You want to talk about someone who's in cahoots, mate,
- 18:49Speaker 3: you just said it yourself. You've been working with these
- 18:51Speaker 3: guys for three years.
- 18:53Speaker 2: Anyway. Well, I am convinced that you are in the
- 18:57Speaker 2: pocket cording because I don't know where this hat comes from.
- 19:02Speaker 4: I don't have a hat. Let's put it that way.
- 19:03Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 19:05Speaker 1: Do you know where I found that?
- 19:06Speaker 4: Maybe they gave me my hat because he didn't get
- 19:07Speaker 4: the first one.
- 19:09Speaker 2: Although you didn't get the first rof, but he got
- 19:11Speaker 2: the first hat.
- 19:15Speaker 3: No, I'm actually genuinely concerned about Trevor. I can hear
- 19:18Speaker 3: his breathing, and I think you need to sit down.
- 19:21Speaker 3: I think something could happen.
- 19:23Speaker 2: What do you what do you like? You relaxed?
- 19:26Speaker 1: Oh God, Jesus, do you know what I love about
- 19:30Speaker 1: this show? Right?
- 19:32Speaker 2: Is it not?
- 19:34Speaker 1: You so just hide down to its?
- 19:38Speaker 3: I just love that you'd never get this unlike what's
- 19:40Speaker 3: under the bonnet, Like you never get like just a
- 19:44Speaker 3: couple of guys talking about Trevor and hot dogs. And
- 19:48Speaker 3: you know that's the thing about the car industry, right,
- 19:50Speaker 3: it suffers a lot from representation of females and like
- 19:54Speaker 3: black representation and LGBQ, but not anymore thanks to our guest,
- 19:59Speaker 3: Trevor Long, I represent.
- 20:01Speaker 4: The fad community. Yeah, wait things out a little bit.
- 20:07Speaker 1: That's where me and trev unite.
- 20:09Speaker 3: Yes, we we're from that community and Paul.
- 20:13Speaker 4: Had a stint but into shape exactly.
- 20:17Speaker 2: Well, actually, I have a genuine question forever are you
- 20:21Speaker 2: going to see Yes?
- 20:22Speaker 4: Absolutely, you know it's the biggest event of the year
- 20:24Speaker 4: for me. January one, we leave. I take a team
- 20:28Speaker 4: of four because it's epic. It's the biggest show.
- 20:30Speaker 1: Okay, So can I just poise you there?
- 20:32Speaker 2: So I have a question for it?
- 20:33Speaker 1: No, no, no, I get it, I get it.
- 20:34Speaker 3: I just want to for those who aren't engineers or
- 20:38Speaker 3: whatever the hell you guys do, can you just explain
- 20:40Speaker 3: what that is?
- 20:41Speaker 2: What that expo is.
- 20:42Speaker 4: You go to. This is the consumer electronics show. It's
- 20:45Speaker 4: been running for I think fifty five years. It used
- 20:49Speaker 4: to be where companies would announce something like a brand
- 20:52Speaker 4: new product, and then it's where retailers, liking in our
- 20:55Speaker 4: old Harving on the JB hih I go and they
- 20:58Speaker 4: do all the deals to actually get the rucks that
- 21:00Speaker 4: they're going to bring into Australia during the year. A
- 21:02Speaker 4: little bit less like that now it's a little bit
- 21:04Speaker 4: more just you know, show off the showcasing, but there's
- 21:06Speaker 4: still deals done by the retailers to bring products and
- 21:09Speaker 4: there's a bunch of car companies that go there as well.
- 21:11Speaker 4: They don't launch cars, but they do spruit their technology.
- 21:15Speaker 4: You know, they'll talk about their autonomy or their battery
- 21:17Speaker 4: parerent stuff. So there'd be a bunch of cars there
- 21:19Speaker 4: as well. It's pretty big car show at the same time.
- 21:22Speaker 3: Do you get a bit of a taste of what
- 21:23Speaker 3: to expect? Do you know what you get kind of
- 21:25Speaker 3: get to see, like is there anything you're looking forward to, like,
- 21:27Speaker 3: oh the new I don't know. Well.
- 21:32Speaker 4: Last year, as in twenty twenty two's event, it was
- 21:35Speaker 4: this weird because of the first time back since COVID.
- 21:39Speaker 4: The show floor map had all these big car companies there,
- 21:41Speaker 4: but they didn't turn up because they shouted themselves at
- 21:44Speaker 4: the last minute and went, oh it's COVID drama. And
- 21:46Speaker 4: so I think there's going to be a lot of
- 21:47Speaker 4: the stuff we expected last year turn up this year,
- 21:50Speaker 4: like concept cars from Mercedes. They've got an equxx Paul,
- 21:54Speaker 4: you know, they've got a bunch of concepts out there.
- 21:56Speaker 4: BMW last year had this color changing car, the paint
- 22:00Speaker 4: change colors like eating I'll do something fun again. I
- 22:03Speaker 4: don't know, to be honest, what to expect that that's
- 22:05Speaker 4: the front of it.
- 22:06Speaker 2: Well, can we maybe while you're over there or when
- 22:08Speaker 2: you get back, get you to fill us in on
- 22:11Speaker 2: all the car stuff that's gone on there?
- 22:13Speaker 4: Yah? Bloody oh something. I love it, this weird, weird
- 22:16Speaker 4: thing where it's the only time of the year where
- 22:17Speaker 4: I'm happy to talk about things that aren't real, if
- 22:20Speaker 4: you know what I mean. Like I don't like talking
- 22:21Speaker 4: about phones that are only released in China or you know,
- 22:24Speaker 4: phones that only sell in Europe because it doesn't matter
- 22:26Speaker 4: to Australians, whereas this is the one time of the
- 22:29Speaker 4: year it's kind of that beyond two thousand. Look, you
- 22:30Speaker 4: know this is just cool Staff. It might not be
- 22:34Speaker 4: on sale this year, it might be on SEF for
- 22:36Speaker 4: teen years, but just to know that a company can
- 22:38Speaker 4: achieve a certain thing, whether it's a level of autonomy
- 22:42Speaker 4: or arrange in kilometers on an electric car, I think
- 22:45Speaker 4: it will make a difference in the long term. So yeah,
- 22:47Speaker 4: it'd be great.
- 22:48Speaker 3: I love how you just compared that to be on
- 22:50Speaker 3: two thousand. I've always said you're the Amanda Keala of now.
- 22:55Speaker 4: I think Amanda would be deeply offended by that, So
- 22:58Speaker 4: I'm glad you don't listen to this show.
- 23:00Speaker 1: Does actually she really does. She told me she's coming
- 23:03Speaker 1: on the show next week.
- 23:05Speaker 4: I saw the other day and I said, I'm going
- 23:07Speaker 4: on with Gordion Portuguess. What the hell are you talking about?
- 23:10Speaker 4: She actually had no idea who you were?
- 23:13Speaker 2: Are you kidding? I? Actually, again, you.
- 23:18Speaker 4: Are so so precious. I mean, if I didn't just
- 23:21Speaker 4: make that whole thing up, I.
- 23:22Speaker 1: Didn't make me listen to me.
- 23:25Speaker 3: You're on my show, all right, listen, you just shut
- 23:28Speaker 3: your little man?
- 23:29Speaker 4: Paul doing this show? Bad people. That's all I've heard.
- 23:34Speaker 1: Yeah, I didn't bag anyone, just Paul.
- 23:38Speaker 4: How good is the coopra formentive vs?
- 23:43Speaker 3: Can I just say I've driven that too? That that
- 23:45Speaker 3: as well? You could have asked me as well. You
- 23:46Speaker 3: could have included me.
- 23:47Speaker 4: But I wanted to actually ask.
- 23:50Speaker 2: The funny thing is, actually haven't driven it? So how
- 24:00Speaker 2: good is it?
- 24:02Speaker 4: What you reckon of?
- 24:04Speaker 2: I think you actually liked it? Didn't you got it? Yeah?
- 24:06Speaker 2: I did. I did.
- 24:07Speaker 1: It's sort of I don't know.
- 24:10Speaker 3: It's it still feels a bit like underwhelming to me,
- 24:14Speaker 3: a bit like I mean, I.
- 24:15Speaker 4: Think the hybrid's great. I think it's it's a really
- 24:17Speaker 4: nice uh really nice kind of movement from the electric
- 24:21Speaker 4: to the to the petrol. I love it because I
- 24:23Speaker 4: love the look of it. I love the brand. My
- 24:25Speaker 4: first car was A say it so I'm a little
- 24:27Speaker 4: bit biased, but a good car, I don't. I don't.
- 24:30Speaker 4: I don't think they're priced well enough to make it
- 24:32Speaker 4: properly work in Australia. But that's another problem for another day.
- 24:35Speaker 3: I think no, I agree with that point, actually, but
- 24:37Speaker 3: I think everything generally is put together really well in
- 24:40Speaker 3: this The interior looks stylish.
- 24:41Speaker 2: I reckon that.
- 24:42Speaker 1: Did you have the matte paint.
- 24:44Speaker 4: On the Yeah? I didn't on the vz D, on
- 24:46Speaker 4: the original four Mento I drove. I've got the white
- 24:48Speaker 4: one of the Moment, which is a vs D. The
- 24:50Speaker 4: matte paint is a little bit much for me, but
- 24:52Speaker 4: I think it shows up every bloody speck of dirt
- 24:55Speaker 4: and water. Be horrible to keep in your driveway.
- 24:58Speaker 1: Trav's a conservative man.
- 25:01Speaker 2: Your conservative, well, you know I.
- 25:03Speaker 4: Think about I'm just such a big hater of things
- 25:06Speaker 4: that cost too much money. I think cars today cost
- 25:09Speaker 4: way too much money. I don't know why. I think
- 25:11Speaker 4: the market has not. I think the car company is
- 25:14Speaker 4: probably making more money out of every car than they
- 25:15Speaker 4: ever did before because cars just seemed so much more
- 25:18Speaker 4: expensive today, and.
- 25:20Speaker 3: People are like, what what gets me is people are
- 25:23Speaker 3: prepared to wait the crazy amount of wait times that
- 25:26Speaker 3: they are, do you know what I mean? And it's
- 25:28Speaker 3: getting worse, Like the whole the whole chip shortage thing
- 25:32Speaker 3: is just such a fast do you.
- 25:34Speaker 4: Guys reckon that's a real thing anymore? Because I obviously
- 25:38Speaker 4: twelve eighty months ago that was a genuine thing, there
- 25:40Speaker 4: was chip shortage and all that kind of stuff. But
- 25:42Speaker 4: I think the car company is now realize that they
- 25:44Speaker 4: can essentially manage the supply by just taking orders. Now.
- 25:49Speaker 4: I don't think they're ever going to get back to
- 25:50Speaker 4: a point where they just have swaths of stock sitting
- 25:53Speaker 4: on show room flaws anymore.
- 25:55Speaker 2: Yeah, because every two months Toyter puts out a press
- 25:57Speaker 2: release saying we're cutting production again because of semik and
- 26:00Speaker 2: but you still have a two year weight on a
- 26:02Speaker 2: four and dealers earn more margin. There's not cars sitting around.
- 26:06Speaker 2: It's actually a pretty Lucra.
- 26:07Speaker 4: There's no competition. You can't ring one dealer to another Kenya,
- 26:10Speaker 4: and you can't actually shop around anymore.
- 26:12Speaker 3: And I think what will happen is ringing dealerships will
- 26:14Speaker 3: probably narrow down anyway, It'll probably be done more on
- 26:17Speaker 3: a website.
- 26:18Speaker 1: Yeah, I know that's.
- 26:19Speaker 4: What your temple started that, and Mercedes had started doing that,
- 26:23Speaker 4: bowl I was doing that. It's a good thing because
- 26:26Speaker 4: it means everyone's getting the same price, but it's a
- 26:28Speaker 4: bad thing because it means you're never negotiating on the
- 26:31Speaker 4: price of the car, and that means they can continually
- 26:34Speaker 4: just put a price up. It's like you know what
- 26:36Speaker 4: the bid example, they just go the price has changed
- 26:38Speaker 4: as of now, and there's no there's zero chance to
- 26:41Speaker 4: negotiate that because you don't have a dealer, there's no intermediary,
- 26:45Speaker 4: and so you are literally stuck with whatever the heck
- 26:48Speaker 4: sticker they put on the car.
- 26:50Speaker 1: What was your first car?
- 26:51Speaker 2: Did you say say it?
- 26:52Speaker 1: I'd be is that where you went on schoolies as well?
- 26:57Speaker 4: The Gold Coaster?
- 26:58Speaker 1: Of course, I can't imagine you at schoolies on the
- 27:01Speaker 1: Gold case.
- 27:02Speaker 2: Actually I was very boring.
- 27:03Speaker 4: I was pretty much designated driver, although I was actually
- 27:05Speaker 4: seeing some don't really matter.
- 27:07Speaker 1: Yeah, you can't to me, come across as a bit
- 27:09Speaker 1: of a where'd you go to schoolies? Lake's entrance.
- 27:13Speaker 2: Yeah, thanks, well, Trevor.
- 27:15Speaker 3: Thank you for actually coming on the show that we're
- 27:18Speaker 3: not done with, Trevor, is this started?
- 27:22Speaker 2: Like?
- 27:22Speaker 4: What is this just a show? Is this what you do?
- 27:26Speaker 2: Just talk?
- 27:27Speaker 4: Yea?
- 27:29Speaker 1: So tell me about your podcast there, Trevor, what's that called?
- 27:32Speaker 4: Which one? I'm going to do about five a week?
- 27:34Speaker 4: THEFTM podcast, which is talkback technology podcast, tech question. I
- 27:38Speaker 4: can answer it like talk back radio and there the
- 27:40Speaker 4: two Bokes Talking tech podcast been running for twelve years
- 27:43Speaker 4: as of February, so that's like tech news every week.
- 27:46Speaker 4: Is the best movie You've never seen, which is me
- 27:48Speaker 4: watching movies since the very first time and seven rabbiting
- 27:51Speaker 4: on about how he's seen them a million times.
- 27:52Speaker 2: Pornos, Yeah, whatever you want, mate, They all sound shipp
- 27:57Speaker 2: by the way.
- 27:59Speaker 4: Well, can't be any worse than what I've just listened
- 28:02Speaker 4: to for last Sinday move.
- 28:04Speaker 2: No, look, hey, here's the thing.
- 28:07Speaker 4: Going to go on forever.
- 28:08Speaker 1: I'm I'm gonna.
- 28:09Speaker 3: Calm down, mates, God, I'm worried about your health now.
- 28:14Speaker 3: I want to I want to bury the hatchet. I
- 28:16Speaker 3: want to genuinely say I didn't I don't have any apology.
- 28:19Speaker 1: Music queued up but Trev is.
- 28:21Speaker 3: Actually a genuinely brilliant tech reviewer. I watched his videos,
- 28:27Speaker 3: Believe it or not, I do watch videos. I watched
- 28:29Speaker 3: that expo you went to it in Berlin, and I
- 28:31Speaker 3: thought that was really cool.
- 28:32Speaker 1: You ate fake meat or something.
- 28:34Speaker 2: Something for meat?
- 28:36Speaker 3: Yeah, horrible, And I think what he does is really
- 28:39Speaker 3: good and it's entertaining.
- 28:41Speaker 4: Let me say this then, all right, let me say this. No,
- 28:44Speaker 4: I genuinely had no idea that someone else was promised
- 28:47Speaker 4: a first drive. I didn't ask for a first drive.
- 28:50Speaker 4: I just had the car and studio had twenty four
- 28:52Speaker 4: hours before to take it back. So I hooked up
- 28:54Speaker 4: a GoPro. What do you do? What do you do?
- 28:56Speaker 2: What do you do?
- 28:57Speaker 1: I'm just a man with a GoPro in fact podcast.
- 29:00Speaker 2: Yes, well, now we're going to end it and we're
- 29:03Speaker 2: going to chat to you once you come back from
- 29:05Speaker 2: CS and we'll we'll have it talk about car stuff.
- 29:08Speaker 1: Good boys, Thank you, thanks, true thanks. Right before you
- 29:11Speaker 1: go before we go, just hag up the phone before
- 29:14Speaker 1: you go.
- 29:14Speaker 2: I just want to say one thing. I love you.
- 29:16Speaker 4: I love you too.
- 29:18Speaker 2: Yes see, I love him.
- 29:20Speaker 1: I'm telling you.
- 29:20Speaker 4: Here's the part love you.
- 29:25Speaker 1: The twenty twenty three.
- 29:26Speaker 5: Subaru WRX and WRX sports Wagon. Prices start from forty thousand,
- 29:32Speaker 5: nine ninety dollars for the basic trim levels.
- 29:35Speaker 2: You do in two sixty two.
- 29:37Speaker 5: Thousand, four hundred and forty dollars for the top of
- 29:39Speaker 5: the range, Todam WRX s TI Final.
- 29:42Speaker 3: Edition, Suberu WRX, and the I want to put the
- 29:46Speaker 3: sports Wagon in this review too, because I'm going to
- 29:48Speaker 3: try both and they're both similar cars. One's just a
- 29:52Speaker 3: bit of a different shape to the other, and I
- 29:54Speaker 3: know there's a lot of interest in the sports Wagon
- 29:56Speaker 3: as well as the standard, So that's what we're doing
- 29:58Speaker 3: with this.
- 29:59Speaker 1: What are you do you think of these?
- 30:00Speaker 3: Because we were talking about the new Subi before it
- 30:03Speaker 3: was released and before we got to see the car,
- 30:06Speaker 3: before we got to drive the car, I remember my
- 30:08Speaker 3: impressions being it just didn't look because cosmetically design wise,
- 30:13Speaker 3: it didn't.
- 30:14Speaker 1: Sort of look it just it didn't look that drastic.
- 30:18Speaker 3: And I know I'm hard to please with this sort
- 30:19Speaker 3: of stuff, but it just didn't look that drastic, And
- 30:22Speaker 3: you know, I thought the interior was and suber who
- 30:25Speaker 3: have kind of been always a little bit guilty with
- 30:28Speaker 3: this on the WRX. It just was never kind of
- 30:31Speaker 3: flashy or just seemed very basic. But now we've driven it,
- 30:35Speaker 3: has my opinion changed slightly.
- 30:39Speaker 2: Well, look, for me, it's it has two personalities. So
- 30:43Speaker 2: I drove a manual one and I quite enjoyed it
- 30:46Speaker 2: because it was a visceral experience. Everything was happening, I
- 30:49Speaker 2: was doing everything, but I was a bit underwhelmed with
- 30:51Speaker 2: how quick it was in the noise, it really sort
- 30:54Speaker 2: of made no sound and it wasn't that fast. Yes,
- 30:56Speaker 2: I then briefly drove the CVT and I thought it
- 30:59Speaker 2: was going to be terrible, but it wasn't as bad
- 31:01Speaker 2: as I thought it would be. But the downside with
- 31:03Speaker 2: the manual is it misses out on half the safety
- 31:06Speaker 2: tech that you get with the CVT, and at the
- 31:08Speaker 2: price that they're asking for this it kicks off what
- 31:11Speaker 2: does it kicks off from? Around forty five grand for
- 31:15Speaker 2: the entry level manual, there's a lot of money to
- 31:17Speaker 2: be missing out on basic safety tech that you can
- 31:19Speaker 2: get on virtually every car today. But for me, I
- 31:22Speaker 2: like the interior tech. I just didn't like the materials.
- 31:25Speaker 2: They are a bit sort of scratchy in parts, but
- 31:27Speaker 2: I thought the tech was pretty cool, and I like
- 31:29Speaker 2: the design as well. I know that's probably a little controversial,
- 31:32Speaker 2: but I think it looks cool.
- 31:33Speaker 3: Yeah, look, I don't mind it. Now that I've got
- 31:34Speaker 3: to see it in the flesh, I don't mind it.
- 31:36Speaker 3: I was saying to you before we aired this. The
- 31:41Speaker 3: design has now just kind of settled in. You know
- 31:43Speaker 3: when something like shock value or interesting aspects of a
- 31:48Speaker 3: car sit for a while and then they soften. To me, Yeah,
- 31:51Speaker 3: the cars softened even further, so I think it's very
- 31:55Speaker 3: much a normal fixture design wise.
- 31:58Speaker 1: Could they have done a bit more perhaps.
- 32:00Speaker 3: I still don't think it's the best looking WRX. Yeah,
- 32:04Speaker 3: it's not the best looking WRX that they've put out.
- 32:07Speaker 3: It's not the bug Eye. It's not as shit as
- 32:09Speaker 3: the bug Guy looking one. You know, that car was
- 32:11Speaker 3: so ugly it's almost become some people like it. Yeah,
- 32:14Speaker 3: I know they do, no, but it's it's now become
- 32:17Speaker 3: almost a cult classic because it's so out.
- 32:20Speaker 1: From everything else that they've done.
- 32:22Speaker 3: Anyway, But yeah, look the interior again, it was it
- 32:25Speaker 3: still feels a little bit. Plain definitely enjoyed this car,
- 32:29Speaker 3: like you're right with It's slowish, I think by today's standards,
- 32:33Speaker 3: it feels it's they've.
- 32:35Speaker 2: Gone from a two letter to two point four. Power
- 32:37Speaker 2: is up five kilotz. The talk is the same at
- 32:39Speaker 2: three p fifty. Yeah, it's like, how exactly that was
- 32:42Speaker 2: not even possible?
- 32:43Speaker 1: And that's the thing.
- 32:44Speaker 3: Those numbers in twenty twenty two to twenty three, they
- 32:46Speaker 3: don't really stack up as much as they used to
- 32:49Speaker 3: with Subaru WRX. You know, I know that they are taking.
- 32:54Speaker 1: A very much approach. I believe from what I've heard
- 32:58Speaker 1: very much.
- 32:59Speaker 3: Numbers on paper don't sell cars, which I kind of get,
- 33:04Speaker 3: but it.
- 33:04Speaker 2: Also makes it hard for people to test drive if
- 33:06Speaker 2: they see the numbers.
- 33:07Speaker 1: That's true, What's what's going to get them over the line.
- 33:09Speaker 1: It's it can be a numbers game. I mean as well.
- 33:12Speaker 3: I think for me, why I enjoyed this was a nostalgia.
- 33:17Speaker 3: It was it brought back the Subaru is such a
- 33:19Speaker 3: brilliant car. It's such a great driver's car. I didn't
- 33:23Speaker 3: get to drive the manual as much as you did.
- 33:26Speaker 3: I spent maybe an hour with that, to be honest,
- 33:29Speaker 3: and I had the.
- 33:31Speaker 1: DCT for like a week with the sports Wagon CVT
- 33:35Speaker 1: whatever fuck put it, I say, DCTCD.
- 33:36Speaker 3: Look, I think The tech in it is good, but
- 33:40Speaker 3: I think it's where it needs to be. I think
- 33:41Speaker 3: it's sitting kind of where it needs to be twenty
- 33:45Speaker 3: twenty twenty two.
- 33:46Speaker 1: But big screen was that? Was that wireless Apple car play?
- 33:51Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 33:51Speaker 1: Yeah it was.
- 33:52Speaker 3: Wasn't it massive tick for me with that sort of
- 33:54Speaker 3: stuff has its own It has a few in built
- 33:57Speaker 3: apps as well, I think too a few er. They've
- 34:00Speaker 3: got an STI logo on.
- 34:02Speaker 2: The wheel where why why?
- 34:05Speaker 3: And they're from like official word from Subaru was oh
- 34:10Speaker 3: for nosulgic reasons.
- 34:11Speaker 2: Yeah, Well there's not going to be an STI. No,
- 34:14Speaker 2: they're saying that the SI will be electric and later on.
- 34:16Speaker 2: So it just feels weird to me. Maybe it's like
- 34:19Speaker 2: how BMW does m Badgers. Sure, maybe tuned by a STI.
- 34:24Speaker 2: It's not like you're.
- 34:25Speaker 3: Getting like an STI package though, No, do you know
- 34:27Speaker 3: what I mean? Like not with like an interior fit
- 34:29Speaker 3: at or anything like that. Yeah, exhaust or body kit
- 34:33Speaker 3: or anything. But I still think this has got life
- 34:39Speaker 3: in it.
- 34:39Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 34:40Speaker 3: I think it's definitely a great car if you're considering it,
- 34:44Speaker 3: it's damn it's a great car to get. It is
- 34:46Speaker 3: what it always has been it's a great driver's car.
- 34:49Speaker 3: Does it stack up with their faster cars out on
- 34:51Speaker 3: the road for a similar price point?
- 34:53Speaker 2: Arguably? I completely agree, And I think this will have
- 34:56Speaker 2: a certain type of buyer. It's the type of buyer
- 34:58Speaker 2: that's always wanted one of these and always had one of.
- 35:00Speaker 1: These, and they just want one with new attack.
- 35:03Speaker 2: Yeah, pretty much. The fact that you can't get the
- 35:05Speaker 2: wagon in a manual, I just don't know why that's
- 35:08Speaker 2: not a thing, But yeah, I think that. Yeah, I
- 35:12Speaker 2: think that people will enjoy it. I think once you
- 35:14Speaker 2: modify it, that's probably where you'll start getting proper enjoyment.
- 35:17Speaker 2: So sticking in isourced on it, bigger turbo, that kind
- 35:19Speaker 2: of thing, I think that's probably where it'll be. But
- 35:21Speaker 2: I haven't really seen many modified ones, so it's like
- 35:23Speaker 2: people are just keeping them fairly stock and not really
- 35:25Speaker 2: doing a great deal to them. That's the thing it is.
- 35:29Speaker 2: I can hear from your voice. I'm in the same boat.
- 35:31Speaker 3: It's like, it's fine, yeah, I'm under look in all
- 35:33Speaker 3: understand I'm underwhelmed. I think what they need to do.
- 35:37Speaker 3: Super were doing this thing where they're just I feel
- 35:42Speaker 3: like they keep on keeping on.
- 35:44Speaker 2: And it's like Toyota. They just continuously just deliver just
- 35:48Speaker 2: what you kind of expect. There's nothing surprising there.
- 35:52Speaker 3: Yeah, it's solid. There's always going to be something good,
- 35:55Speaker 3: but it's never Yeah. I just it's not the evolution
- 35:59Speaker 3: I wanted. I kind of feel like, imagine if they
- 36:01Speaker 3: rested this car for ten years unheard of, and then
- 36:05Speaker 3: they just relaunched it and it was a complete beast
- 36:09Speaker 3: of a car as it once was.
- 36:10Speaker 1: Is the rally scene as big as it was in
- 36:12Speaker 1: the mid nineties, No.
- 36:13Speaker 2: But it's still pretty decent.
- 36:15Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 36:16Speaker 1: I just think this is an iconic car.
- 36:20Speaker 3: Everyone's got their favorite model, everyone's got their favorite year.
- 36:24Speaker 3: The Subaru fan club is strong, and they deserved something a.
- 36:28Speaker 1: Little bit better.
- 36:28Speaker 2: Yep. Agreed, as always.
