- 0:01SPEAKER_00: And now it's time for the Elise Richmond Show right here on WNAU.
- 0:07SPEAKER_00: And now, without further ado, here's Elise.
- 0:11SPEAKER_06: Good morning.
- 0:12SPEAKER_06: It's Tuesday morning.
- 0:13SPEAKER_06: It's the Elise Richmond Show live here on WNAU 1470, usually a classic rock and roll station right here in New Albany, Mississippi.
- 0:22SPEAKER_06: But at 11 o'clock every Tuesday, it becomes very political.
- 0:25SPEAKER_06: And boy, oh boy, do we have the things to talk about today.
- 0:28SPEAKER_06: Now, as you know, we usually start out talking about some football, then we recognize our sponsors.
- 0:36SPEAKER_06: So let's do the sponsors first.
- 0:38SPEAKER_06: Colonel Gannon Burton's Mississippi for America first and the Pontiac County Republican women.
- 0:43SPEAKER_06: So we want to thank them right up front for their support.
- 0:47SPEAKER_06: Now let's talk about football.
- 0:48SPEAKER_06: Bob Richmond's here, and do I have a surprise for you?
- 0:52SPEAKER_06: We get two for the price of one, two senators for the price of one.
- 0:56SPEAKER_06: Two senators.
- 0:58SPEAKER_06: New Albany's favorite senator, Kathy Chisholm, is here, and her friend, former Senator Melanie Sojourner.
- 1:07SPEAKER_06: So I am so happy to have these two ladies here, and boy, oh boy, do we have the politics to talk about.
- 1:12SPEAKER_06: Uh I don't have anything to say about O Miss.
- 1:14SPEAKER_06: They were on a bye last uh week, and all we want them to do is go to Vanderbilt and beat Vanderbilt and show them what they've got and show Trinidad Chambliss is the best quarterback in the NCAA right now.
- 1:28SPEAKER_06: Oh, and I always forget about Mississippi State.
- 1:31SPEAKER_06: I wonder why.
- 1:32SPEAKER_06: Oh, they're gonna be on a bye this coming weekend.
- 1:36SPEAKER_06: So we don't have to say anything about them, and especially because there was a terrible loss Cycle Miss had the week before.
- 1:42SPEAKER_06: Oh my lands.
- 1:43SPEAKER_06: What say you, Bob?
- 1:44SPEAKER_01: Well, you know, I'll tell you, last uh Tuesday I was talking about how the uh players, the college students were getting paid so much money that, you know, maybe they're not trying very hard and you know they know that maybe they're not gonna make it to the pros, so they're just sitting back and taking their money.
- 2:02SPEAKER_01: Well, I heard the coach this week talk about all the students want to go ahead and renegotiate their contract for next year.
- 2:12SPEAKER_01: Just like the pros, and they want to do it in December and January.
- 2:17SPEAKER_01: So what I've heard the coach say is, Well, we're gonna go back to the month of October, and your performance in the month of October is going to go ahead and tell you if you're going to buy, see you later, or maybe get paid the same, or maybe a little bit extra, if your performance was good.
- 2:39SPEAKER_01: So now they're basing it on performance.
- 2:41SPEAKER_01: So if these kids just kind of sit back and don't try, guess what?
- 2:45SPEAKER_01: They're gonna be gone, and maybe another school won't pick them up.
- 2:49SPEAKER_06: I think other schools would probably pick them up because they're so good, but hey, that's just fine.
- 2:53SPEAKER_01: Well, if you didn't if they don't perform and they look at their you know tapes from their games in October, you know, I'll tell you, they don't have a chance.
- 3:02SPEAKER_06: Well, you had a really good line when you said they all drive up in their Lamborghinis, and once they've got a Lamborghini or a big old Corvette or some really cool car, some convertible thing, and all the girls are wild for them because they're flashing around the bucks.
- 3:15SPEAKER_06: Who cares about how you perform?
- 3:17SPEAKER_01: Well, I think it's gonna go back to the performance level.
- 3:20SPEAKER_01: I think uh our coach has got his team gonna be ship shape and be ready to play.
- 3:25SPEAKER_01: Now we're talking about the old Miss Coach Pete Golding.
- 3:28SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 3:29SPEAKER_01: I think you know he had a bad performance.
- 3:31SPEAKER_01: He he's gonna learn, he's gonna have his team go out there and play aggressive defense and let that offense score.
- 3:40SPEAKER_06: Yes, I agree with everything you just say.
- 3:43SPEAKER_06: Mark that one down in your funkin' wagnell.
- 3:46SPEAKER_06: Because it never happens.
- 3:48SPEAKER_06: I don't agree much with what Bob Richman says.
- 3:51SPEAKER_06: Okay, now that said, Bob is really outnumbered.
- 3:54SPEAKER_06: Hey, there's a show on Pops called outnumbered, and I think it's on right now.
- 3:58SPEAKER_06: And Bob is outnumbered because he's got three ladies ready to roll.
- 4:03SPEAKER_06: So I want to uh welcome Senator Kathy Gibson and former Senator Melanie Sojourn to the show.
- 4:10SPEAKER_06: Ladies, I'm glad you're both here.
- 4:12SPEAKER_05: Thank you, Elise.
- 4:13SPEAKER_05: You are more than welcome.
- 4:15SPEAKER_05: Thank you for having me back what the umpteenth time for the umpteenth time, and we love every minute of it.
- 4:21SPEAKER_06: Now then, I have got a bunch of questions for you, ladies, to talk about.
- 4:26SPEAKER_06: It's everything about what happens in Jackson, what has happened, what should happen, what could happen.
- 4:31SPEAKER_06: But I think we have to address right now something that is on my mind and driving in, of course.
- 4:38SPEAKER_06: We were listening to um Harrison Faulkner on uh Fox with her show at eleven, um, or ten, I guess she starts, on what's happening in Paris right now and all of this rioting.
- 4:52SPEAKER_06: And it is all, in my opinion, because of Islamic immigration run-em-up in Europe.
- 4:59SPEAKER_06: What say you ladies?
- 5:00SPEAKER_06: Whoever wants to go first, I will.
- 5:02SPEAKER_06: Kathy, are you moving forward first?
- 5:04SPEAKER_05: I'll move forward and and then the one who is way better than me can follow up right here.
- 5:10SPEAKER_05: Um Yeah, the I it's because of the Islamic immigration, it's because of the Muslims.
- 5:17SPEAKER_05: I know that sometimes I get beat up on Facebook about posting about the Muslims, but you know what, Mississippi, America, we better wake up.
- 5:25SPEAKER_05: Absolutely.
- 5:26SPEAKER_05: Absolutely.
- 5:27SPEAKER_06: Go ahead, Melanie.
- 5:28SPEAKER_06: What do you think?
- 5:29SPEAKER_04: You know, I think what you're seeing is a perfect example of when you have this open border policy and there's no vetting of Spain! Look what happened, they all start crawling across the border.
- 5:39SPEAKER_04: You don't have a shared interest, you know.
- 5:42SPEAKER_04: I mean, countries and communities are founded because there's a shared interest, and when there's just this open door policy and they don't share that interest, and then you have this civil unrest that develops between the two, you see what's happening in France.
- 5:58SPEAKER_06: Absolutely.
- 5:58SPEAKER_04: Um and it's the reason why immigration policy in this country is so important, so that we protect the foundation of our nation and we don't end up in the shape that those guys are in.
- 6:08SPEAKER_04: Exactly.
- 6:09SPEAKER_06: Exactly.
- 6:09SPEAKER_06: And I think what we have to do too is think about this election coming up in uh November, because it's very, very important that no more communists are elected because they want open borders.
- 6:21SPEAKER_06: Why would they want that?
- 6:22SPEAKER_06: Because they just want chaos to destroy Western civilization.
- 6:28SPEAKER_06: Um, I don't I know that maybe you know, uh Kathy, I know Melanie maybe doesn't know, but last oh I guess it was last Friday a week ago, I went into a store in Pontock and there were two Brits there, and one of them happened to be uh Nigel Farage's um guy that he had worked with him, he had been very close with him uh on all of the conservative movement in the UK, and he is now a mayor in a province in northern uh England, and he said, if you want to see what's gonna happen in America, not in ten years, in a year, come to England and I will show you.
- 7:04SPEAKER_06: I will show you what's going on with Islam.
- 7:07SPEAKER_06: They have got enclaves where they the police can't even go in, they do what they want to do.
- 7:11SPEAKER_06: Wake up America.
- 7:13SPEAKER_04: And it's happening in pockets of America.
- 7:15SPEAKER_04: Yes, it is.
- 7:15SPEAKER_04: Michigan.
- 7:16SPEAKER_04: Absolutely.
- 7:17SPEAKER_05: That's exactly right.
- 7:18SPEAKER_05: Michigan.
- 7:19SPEAKER_05: Look at look at Texas.
- 7:21SPEAKER_05: Um it's happening right there in Texas.
- 7:23SPEAKER_05: It's happening everywhere.
- 7:24SPEAKER_05: Look at New York City, look at Mandami.
- 7:27SPEAKER_05: Why do we have him?
- 7:28SPEAKER_05: Why do we have him?
- 7:30SPEAKER_06: Good question.
- 7:31SPEAKER_05: Well, you know, we send our boys over to Iran to fight Iranians, and then they have to come back here and they have to live under and be in an office.
- 7:38SPEAKER_05: Why are we doing that to our own people?
- 7:40SPEAKER_06: Exactly.
- 7:41SPEAKER_06: It it it doesn't make any sense.
- 7:43SPEAKER_06: But you know, communism doesn't make any sense.
- 7:45SPEAKER_06: It's based on many, many lies, it's based on misery, it's based on no one having anything in the end but the rich, rich, and the people in control.
- 7:55SPEAKER_06: And the rest of us, you know, had better quit looking around at grandma and grandpa going to watch the kids at soccer.
- 8:02SPEAKER_06: You better be fighting for this election coming up so that your kids and grandkids can still play soccer.
- 8:08SPEAKER_01: You know, that's a thing for Republicans.
- 8:11SPEAKER_01: Maybe they should get off their butt and do something, pass some laws and get on board with Trump and get some of this legislation passed so these uprisings don't happen.
- 8:26SPEAKER_01: Because when you sit back and do nothing like the president of France did, Macron, this is what happens.
- 8:34SPEAKER_01: He's doing absolutely nothing.
- 8:36SPEAKER_05: Well, one one way that we're really failing, we need to look at our Christians.
- 8:42SPEAKER_05: We have enough Christians that if we would stand up, go to the polls, and vote, we could outvote what's happening.
- 8:47SPEAKER_05: And and you know, a lot of your preachers they think, well, we need to separate church and politics.
- 8:52SPEAKER_05: We don't read your Bible, the politics are all the way through the Bible, and as Christians, we better stand up for what's right because what's wrong is blindsiding us, they're taking over daily.
- 9:04SPEAKER_06: Yeah, you know, I'm watching right now, Tom Hanks has got an excellent series on World War II, and I started watching that, and the first one is uh Hitler in 1939, uh September 1, marching into Poland.
- 9:17SPEAKER_06: And the Polish people had an incredible army, they were they had an incredible government.
- 9:23SPEAKER_06: They're all going along doing their lives and really prepared, but they were not prepared because they didn't expect it.
- 9:30SPEAKER_06: And all of a sudden, man, here come the panzers, rolling into Poland, taking over everything.
- 9:36SPEAKER_06: And they didn't think when they saw them that they were going to do anything but just take over.
- 9:42SPEAKER_06: No, no, they went through to kill all of them because they were Slavic, and Hitler thought they were not uh up to par uh genetically, and so he wanted to eliminate them, not just the Jews in Poland, all of them.
- 9:57SPEAKER_06: And he did a heck of a job of it.
- 9:59SPEAKER_06: And it's not anything that I think pancers are gonna come out of the uh ocean, but boy oh boy, I think that there are enough people here to riot and get those terrorists going.
- 10:10SPEAKER_06: And where are they?
- 10:11SPEAKER_06: They're in the moss.
- 10:13SPEAKER_04: Absolutely, Elise.
- 10:14SPEAKER_04: You know, talking about that era in in Europe, it was the suffering of many for the benefit of a few.
- 10:21SPEAKER_04: Absolutely.
- 10:22SPEAKER_04: And that's what you're seeing with this socialist movement in the Democrat Party now.
- 10:26SPEAKER_04: You know, they talk about, oh, we're looking out for the benefit of the no, what they want to do is take advantage of the least among you for the benefit of the few.
- 10:35SPEAKER_04: And I I tell you, you know, we say this every election cycle, but the problems get bigger, the problems get more severe.
- 10:41SPEAKER_04: The elections coming up are more important than I think any we've ever seen.
- 10:45SPEAKER_04: And like Kathy said, if Republicans don't stand up and go to the polls, the margins are getting thinner.
- 10:51SPEAKER_04: Yes, and it's now more important than ever that you go and you elect Republicans at this time.
- 10:56SPEAKER_04: If not, we're gonna find ourselves going the same direction that we see our neighbors across the pond, so to speak.
- 11:03SPEAKER_06: Absolutely, and it's frightening.
- 11:04SPEAKER_06: Also, the whole point of of trying to bring out the vote, like Kathy just said, is Christians should all get together.
- 11:12SPEAKER_06: They should be registering voters in every church this Sunday.
- 11:15SPEAKER_06: They can do that.
- 11:16SPEAKER_06: You can register voters any place you want to register voters, and no one can stop you unless it's private land.
- 11:22SPEAKER_06: You of course have to get permission.
- 11:24SPEAKER_06: But public land, take your card table and chair out, get some voter registrations, and get it happening.
- 11:30SPEAKER_06: One of the Republican women a couple years ago in Pontiac Republican Women went to the high school and in one day registered 48 people.
- 11:38SPEAKER_06: There were teachers in there, all the 18-year-olds that make it easy for them, but there were teachers there that had been transferred in or new teachers, and they didn't had not re-registered to vote.
- 11:48SPEAKER_06: So it can be done, and you'll be very happy with what happens in the clubs to get out the vote.
- 11:54SPEAKER_01: One thing else you need to do is once you get these Republicans elected, you need to ride them.
- 12:01SPEAKER_01: You need to ride them party.
- 12:02SPEAKER_01: Hold them accountable, hold them accountable and make sure they do something instead of just sit there and take a paycheck.
- 12:10SPEAKER_01: We need them to do what we want them to do while we got elected.
- 12:14SPEAKER_01: Trump won a massive thing, and they haven't really codified one thing that Trump has wanted to bring forward.
- 12:21SPEAKER_06: And then what happens?
- 12:23SPEAKER_06: Everybody gets angry at Trump instead of getting angry at the Do Nothing Congress.
- 12:28SPEAKER_06: At the Congress, absolutely.
- 12:30SPEAKER_06: Now, I had a question here that actually was on a federal level, but Bob kind of brought it up.
- 12:35SPEAKER_06: Uh my question was going to be strictly Mississippi about communism and socialism and the DSA in Mississippi and what the two of you have seen.
- 12:43SPEAKER_06: But swinging off of what Bob was saying, the Communist Control Act of 2026, I believe they're trying to bring it up in Congress in the House of Representatives right now.
- 12:53SPEAKER_06: And it's uh the same thing that President uh Eisenhower did in 1954 when he had a list of communist organizations that if anybody in the House or Senate belonged to any of them, they were out.
- 13:09SPEAKER_06: And that needs to happen right now.
- 13:11SPEAKER_06: It needs to happen right now.
- 13:12SPEAKER_06: If you're a commie and boy, oh boy, can we name them?
- 13:15SPEAKER_06: I've got a picture here of all the people in Mississippi that are in g official offices.
- 13:22SPEAKER_06: We can go eeny meeny money mo, let's see which ones would we eliminate right away.
- 13:27SPEAKER_06: Why do we say that?
- 13:28SPEAKER_06: Because it's how they vote.
- 13:30SPEAKER_06: They vote with the Democrats, and nobody on the face of this earth that doesn't think Democrats are communists and socialists now, you're crazy.
- 13:39SPEAKER_05: You know, it it's strange that you bring that up because Senator Sojourner and I were having a conversation last night.
- 13:45SPEAKER_05: We have 34 Republicans on the floor.
- 13:47SPEAKER_05: We had 36 until Delbert Hoseman redistrict.
- 13:50SPEAKER_06: Right on Delbert Hoseman, you you're such a major Republican, you lost two seats, you crazy eight.
- 13:56SPEAKER_05: He gave them away.
- 13:56SPEAKER_05: He gave them away, and he'll do that again.
- 13:58SPEAKER_06: Yeah, he loves it.
- 14:00SPEAKER_06: But why?
- 14:01SPEAKER_06: He just re-registered Republican to get elected.
- 14:04SPEAKER_06: Your brain didn't change.
- 14:06SPEAKER_06: Your actions are showing it.
- 14:09SPEAKER_05: But the thing that we were talking about last night, okay, we have 34 on the floor that are Republicans, supposed to be Republicans.
- 14:16SPEAKER_05: And if a bill comes on that floor and Senator Sojourner will back me up on this, if they have been led by leadership, Dober Hosman, to vote no on a good Republican bill, they're gonna vote no, I don't care what.
- 14:27SPEAKER_05: They we've tried and tried and tried to explain this, and the I want the people of Mississippi to understand this.
- 14:34SPEAKER_05: I had to politically educate myself, and I want all of our people to become politically educated so they understand the whole process.
- 14:42SPEAKER_05: Now, when we bring a bill, a good Republican bill to the floor, we can take the power away from the man that's standing at the podium, Delbert Hoseman.
- 14:50SPEAKER_05: He cannot control those four if they would I mean those thirty-four, if they would stick together and vote Republican.
- 14:57SPEAKER_06: The Democrats do, don't they?
- 14:59SPEAKER_06: They do.
- 14:59SPEAKER_06: What's wrong with you Republicans out there then Jackson that you can't stick together?
- 15:11SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 15:12SPEAKER_04: So why we see so many of them in their chamber yield their power to the man at the podium when if the 34 of them would stick together, exercise their rights is it gives the power back to the people.
- 15:23SPEAKER_04: Absolutely.
- 15:24SPEAKER_04: So that is not what we see happen more often than not.
- 15:26SPEAKER_01: Now I've got a bone to pick with Senator Chisholm.
- 15:29SPEAKER_01: She voted no on a bill that passed by all other Republicans voting yes.
- 15:36SPEAKER_01: And you know the bill I'm talking about.
- 15:38SPEAKER_01: It's about that battery foundation.
- 15:40SPEAKER_01: That's about the battery foundation.
- 15:41SPEAKER_01: All the jobs, it's gonna bring all these jobs to Mississippi.
- 15:44SPEAKER_01: It's gonna be a great investment for Mississippi to spend millions of dollars on this company so we have all these jobs.
- 15:50SPEAKER_01: Why did you vote no?
- 15:52SPEAKER_05: Myself and Senator Hill are the only two on the floor that voted no because, first of all, it's corporate welfare.
- 15:57SPEAKER_05: I don't care how you look at it.
- 15:58SPEAKER_05: We put millions of dollars in that plant.
- 16:01SPEAKER_05: And at the time that we put all of that in the plant, we're not there, I mean, it's not even really thought out.
- 16:06SPEAKER_05: The plant is like two miles from the Tennessee line.
- 16:10SPEAKER_05: Where are all your employees going to come from?
- 16:12SPEAKER_05: And they don't even pay uh state tax.
- 16:16SPEAKER_05: They they were given ten years of um tax exemption.
- 16:21SPEAKER_05: They were given property.
- 16:23SPEAKER_06: I want ten years of tax exemptions.
- 16:25SPEAKER_05: You and me too.
- 16:26SPEAKER_07: Sign me up.
- 16:26SPEAKER_07: Yeah, sign me up.
- 16:27SPEAKER_05: They were given property that was like forty two point five million dollars.
- 16:33SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 16:34SPEAKER_05: And this property was farmland.
- 16:37SPEAKER_05: Now, how that property became valued at$25,000 an acre, I don't know.
- 16:43SPEAKER_05: There's so many things in that bill that's unreal.
- 16:47SPEAKER_05: We even ask, um, because we knew that China was gonna furnish the machines, China was getting 10% of the profit right off the top, and we ask, okay, so China it they're a partner.
- 16:58SPEAKER_05: Oh no, China's not a partner.
- 17:00SPEAKER_05: If you're furnishing the machines and you're sending people over here to train the ones that's gonna be running the machines, and you're getting 10% profit right off the top, you are a partner.
- 17:10SPEAKER_05: I don't care how you look at it.
- 17:12SPEAKER_05: And um, there was just a lot of things in it, Bill, that I did not like.
- 17:16SPEAKER_01: How's the pro progress going on building this great big battery plant?
- 17:20SPEAKER_05: They're belly up.
- 17:22SPEAKER_01: We expected.
- 17:23SPEAKER_01: They're belly up, they're belly up all that millions wasted by Mississippi's.
- 17:27SPEAKER_04: It sounds like another Mississippi boondoggle.
- 17:29SPEAKER_01: Someone got some.
- 17:30SPEAKER_04: And there's been quite a few.
- 17:31SPEAKER_04: Sounds like the train to nowhere in California.
- 17:34SPEAKER_01: How long did you have to pass this bill?
- 17:36SPEAKER_01: How long did you have to read it?
- 17:38SPEAKER_01: How long did what's his name give you to read this bill before you have to put it on?
- 17:41SPEAKER_05: No time, no time at all.
- 17:42SPEAKER_05: The day before it was called special session, the day before I received a phone call and there were several on the line, and I asked for the bill.
- 17:51SPEAKER_05: I asked for a copy of it, and I was told we can't give you a copy of the bill.
- 17:54SPEAKER_05: And I'm sitting here thinking, I'm a sitting senator, I'm gonna have to vote on this tomorrow, but I can't see a copy of the bill.
- 18:00SPEAKER_05: So then the next morning we didn't get a copy of it about maybe 10 or 15 minutes before we voted on it, the bill was presented to us.
- 18:08SPEAKER_01: This is our Republican leadership here in Mississippi, and I thought Mississippi was a great state that a Republican can move to and trust their elected officials.
- 18:18SPEAKER_04: Remember when we all fussed about how Nancy Pelosi wanted you to pass the bill and then read it?
- 18:24SPEAKER_06: And then read it.
- 18:25SPEAKER_06: Exactly.
- 18:25SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that's the kind of stuff we do in Jackson all the time.
- 18:29SPEAKER_04: Or that's what they want, or why oftentimes we'll peel off and be a no vote, because you literally get a couple of hundred-page bill three minutes before.
- 18:38SPEAKER_01: Now, how come you're no longer a senator?
- 18:40SPEAKER_01: Why are you a former senator?
- 18:42SPEAKER_01: Did you quit?
- 18:42SPEAKER_04: Delbert Hoseman.
- 18:43SPEAKER_01: Oh, Delbert Hosman.
- 18:44SPEAKER_04: Oh, we can just call them right out.
- 18:46SPEAKER_04: Delbert Hoseman.
- 18:48SPEAKER_04: I was the senator that was redistricted out.
- 18:53SPEAKER_04: I was the Republican woman from the very conservative Republican woman from very much so.
- 18:59SPEAKER_04: Was multiple times named by the American Conservative Union as the most conservative vote in the chamber.
- 19:04SPEAKER_04: There you go.
- 19:05SPEAKER_04: But you know, when you don't when you don't abide by orders and you think for yourself and vote the wishes of the people that elected you, sometimes it finds you in opposition of leadership.
- 19:17SPEAKER_04: And when that happens, that when they can't they tried to run people against me and beat me, and that didn't work.
- 19:24SPEAKER_04: So he used the power of his pen, so to speak.
- 19:27SPEAKER_06: Absolutely.
- 19:28SPEAKER_06: And you know what's amazing to me about Mississippi?
- 19:31SPEAKER_06: Um Mississippians are MAGA.
- 19:34SPEAKER_06: They support Donald Trump.
- 19:36SPEAKER_06: One of the highest percentages in the country voting for the government.
- 19:39SPEAKER_06: And look what's happening in the in this among Republicans.
- 19:42SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 19:42SPEAKER_06: Look what's happening.
- 19:43SPEAKER_06: They are not doing what their constituents, the MAGA constituents, have voted them in to do.
- 19:50SPEAKER_06: It's that simple.
- 19:53SPEAKER_06: You know what?
- 19:53SPEAKER_06: I'm looking at the clock, and we need to take a really quick break.
- 19:57SPEAKER_06: This conversation is going to continue, and I have a feeling it's going to even get hotter when I come up with the next question.
- 20:03SPEAKER_06: So you better stay tuned to see what former Senator Melanie Sojourn and current our favorite senator here in New Albany and Pontitaw County and all over the place.
- 20:14SPEAKER_06: I can't name them all.
- 20:15SPEAKER_06: Five counties, she just said.
- 20:17SPEAKER_06: Kathy Chisholm, where do you see what we all have to say?
- 20:20SPEAKER_06: So stay with us.
- 20:55SPEAKER_02: Stand by.
- 20:58SPEAKER_06: And welcome back to the Elise Richmond Show, saying exactly what you are thinking and conservatively speaking to boot.
- 21:05SPEAKER_06: So let me remind all of you our sponsors are Colonel Gannon Burton's Mississippi for America First and Pontaw County Republican Women Federated.
- 21:13SPEAKER_06: I want to thank both of these organizations for sponsoring the Elise Richmond Show because we need good conservative sponsors, and that's what we have.
- 21:23SPEAKER_06: Thank you guys.
- 21:24SPEAKER_06: We appreciate it.
- 21:25SPEAKER_06: Okay, this morning we are speaking to former Senator Melanie Sojourn, and we are also speaking with our Mississippi State Senator, Kathy Chisholm.
- 21:39SPEAKER_06: She's our fave.
- 21:40SPEAKER_06: We say that all the time.
- 21:41SPEAKER_06: So anyway, ladies, we're back on the air.
- 21:42SPEAKER_06: It is my pleasure to have not one senator, but two.
- 21:46SPEAKER_06: Two for the prize of the one, as I said earlier.
- 21:49SPEAKER_06: So I I'm gonna start with um Melanie, if that's okay with you, Kathy.
- 21:54SPEAKER_06: Absolutely.
- 21:55SPEAKER_06: Absolutely.
- 21:55SPEAKER_06: Do we pull a rank here?
- 21:56SPEAKER_06: Who's in and who's out?
- 21:57SPEAKER_05: You know, I'm I live here, so you can have me on the Show anytime.
- 22:00SPEAKER_05: I would love for Melanie to be the spotlight of the show today.
- 22:04SPEAKER_06: Well, she will be then with this question.
- 22:07SPEAKER_06: Okay, we talked about in the first segment that Delbert Hosman, we know that he got rid of your district, so that got you out.
- 22:14SPEAKER_06: And I want to know what future plans you have because I think conservatives need to jump in and do everything that they can possibly do to keep us free.
- 22:25SPEAKER_04: Oh wow.
- 22:25SPEAKER_04: Thank well, thank you for the question, Elise.
- 22:27SPEAKER_04: Yes, there's you know, if you can't beat somebody at the ballot box, run them out through redistricting, right?
- 22:33SPEAKER_04: Absolutely.
- 22:34SPEAKER_04: But hey, so yeah, I mean, you asked the question.
- 22:36SPEAKER_04: You know, first of all, I will say, I mean, one of the greatest joys of my life was certainly serving in the Senate and getting to work with people like Senator Chisholm.
- 22:43SPEAKER_04: Absolutely great.
- 22:44SPEAKER_04: But you know, I I come from a farming background.
- 22:46SPEAKER_04: I'm a sixth-generation member of a farming family.
- 22:49SPEAKER_04: Um, I have worked for National Cattlemans, Mississippi Cattlemen's Cooperative Extension as a livestock specialist, um as a 4-H specialist.
- 22:57SPEAKER_04: And so that's where my heart has always been.
- 22:59SPEAKER_04: So as we look forward to next year, um, I, you know, I am strongly looking at the Commissioner of Agriculture Race.
- 23:08SPEAKER_04: Excellent.
- 23:08SPEAKER_04: Um, you know, I've got an ag degree.
- 23:10SPEAKER_04: I'm in the cattle business today, um, a row crop farmer's daughter.
- 23:15SPEAKER_04: Um, so that is where I'm strongly considering, you know, we're we're looking at either right toward the end of the year or the first to next, you know, trying to make those final decisions before we pull the trigger and you know do anything.
- 23:28SPEAKER_04: But I will say, you know, I I still, while I'm definitely getting older, I think I still have a a few years in in my tank.
- 23:35SPEAKER_06: Well, I'm looking straight at you, and I think you do.
- 23:37SPEAKER_06: Thank you.
- 23:39SPEAKER_04: But definitely have a a passion too, and and certainly it's the farming families that I'm most passionate about.
- 23:45SPEAKER_04: And, you know, we've got a lot of things going on right now in our industry with it diesel prices and crop, you know, grain prices where they are and things.
- 23:53SPEAKER_04: It's a tough time in farming.
- 23:55SPEAKER_04: And somebody's got to feed not only this nation and the world, and I think Mississippi farmers are a great place to look for that.
- 24:02SPEAKER_04: And so the opportunity to work with them to move Mississippi farmers further is is important to me.
- 24:08SPEAKER_04: But I tell you another thing that's really important to me as well is making sure that we keep the few good.
- 24:18SPEAKER_04: That's a rally train.
- 24:19SPEAKER_04: It's perfect for what I'm about to say.
- 24:21SPEAKER_04: Good.
- 24:21SPEAKER_04: I think keeping the few really good, strong conservative Republicans that we have in the state senate are critical.
- 24:29SPEAKER_04: And there has been uh very, very few others that have been on the same level as Senator Chisholm and her voting record and willingness to fight.
- 24:38SPEAKER_04: And so my real plea today, as well as also to your listeners, because they're her voters and she's your senator.
- 24:46SPEAKER_04: This is, you know, a lot of people say, oh, well, that's Senator Chisholm's district or that Senator Sojart.
- 24:50SPEAKER_04: No, these are the people's district.
- 24:53SPEAKER_04: Um, and you know, I I hate it, but I'm hearing rumblings that she's probably gonna draw some challengers.
- 24:59SPEAKER_04: But I it's like I told her, I said, you know what, this is a great opportunity for you to beat the bushes and go back out and remind people of what you've done.
- 25:07SPEAKER_04: Absolutely.
- 25:08SPEAKER_04: The representation you've been.
- 25:09SPEAKER_04: So to your listeners in the area, you know, next year, it is very important that we turn out the vote for Senator Chisholm in these districts.
- 25:18SPEAKER_04: Mississippi needs to make sure they keep a good, strong voice there.
- 25:23SPEAKER_04: And then, you know, if it's in if it's in the Lord's plans, and it's certainly something I pray about often, and we are involved in a statewide office, what a blessing to get to work with her to work on behalf of the farming families of Mississippi.
- 25:37SPEAKER_05: It's important.
- 25:39SPEAKER_05: Thank you, Senator Sojourner.
- 25:40SPEAKER_05: I appreciate those words and and uh the the billing is mutual.
- 25:44SPEAKER_05: You have really helped me a lot in the past, and and I just really appreciate everything that you've done.
- 25:49SPEAKER_05: You've taught me a lot, that's for sure.
- 25:51SPEAKER_06: Well, I'm gonna just wish you good luck on whatever you decide to do, but don't get out of it totally.
- 25:56SPEAKER_06: I know running a ranch and being involved in all the things you're involved in is incredible work.
- 26:02SPEAKER_06: It's 24-7, really, if you've got living things you're taking care of forever and doing what you're doing.
- 26:08SPEAKER_06: But um state of Mississippi needs it.
- 26:12SPEAKER_04: Well, thank you, Elise.
- 26:13SPEAKER_04: And you know, what we do back home on our farm and the the line of work that we're in is no different than so many of your viewers.
- 26:19SPEAKER_04: And Mississippians that make a living off the land are I like I like to say oftentimes out of the back of a pickup truck, they're not afraid of hard work.
- 26:27SPEAKER_04: And that's the people that I know are going, you know, it's like I've often said, I do believe if we're gonna turn this country around, if we're gonna turn our state around, it's going to be done by Republicans.
- 26:37SPEAKER_06: Absolutely.
- 26:38SPEAKER_04: But it is going to be done by good, true, conservative Republicans.
- 26:42SPEAKER_06: Absolutely.
- 26:42SPEAKER_06: And those are the Rhinos won't do it.
- 26:44SPEAKER_06: Those are the Rhinos are a lost issue in my book.
- 26:47SPEAKER_04: Those are the blue-collar, hardworking families that Kathy Chisholm represents, that your listeners are important.
- 26:54SPEAKER_01: You know, you've you've already done it in education.
- 26:58SPEAKER_06: Yes.
- 26:59SPEAKER_06: Gone from like number 49, number 48 to number one, I've heard, number four at the least.
- 27:04SPEAKER_04: If we can turn education around in Mississippi, just think of the possibilities.
- 27:09SPEAKER_04: It takes bold, strong leadership.
- 27:12SPEAKER_04: And with elections coming up next year, that's when you get them.
- 27:16SPEAKER_06: Absolutely.
- 27:18SPEAKER_06: And Bob, did you have something else you want to say?
- 27:20SPEAKER_06: I saw your finger going up.
- 27:22SPEAKER_06: Well, I think it's true.
- 27:23SPEAKER_06: We have to bring out the vote.
- 27:24SPEAKER_06: Uh, I'm getting ready to go into Republican women in Pontak County.
- 27:28SPEAKER_06: We're gonna put a whole thing together for bringing out the vote with uh trying to get the people who are registered Republicans.
- 27:35SPEAKER_06: If every registered Republican would vote, this would be a landslide.
- 27:40SPEAKER_06: But we've got soft Republicans that just don't go in there and vote.
- 27:44SPEAKER_06: It's like, oh, I forgot.
- 27:46SPEAKER_06: How can you forget?
- 27:47SPEAKER_06: How can you forget how important this election is?
- 27:50SPEAKER_06: It's every place.
- 27:51SPEAKER_06: You see what's happening and happened in France, you see what happened in England.
- 27:56SPEAKER_06: Just take a look, folks.
- 27:58SPEAKER_06: It is happening here right now.
- 27:59SPEAKER_06: It's not coming in uh two or ten years.
- 28:03SPEAKER_06: It's now.
- 28:04SPEAKER_06: They're rioting.
- 28:05SPEAKER_06: Wait till we see what happens this weekend or next summer, what happens in our streets.
- 28:11SPEAKER_05: You know, Elise, I'd like to say something to that.
- 28:14SPEAKER_05: I just got back from Israel.
- 28:16SPEAKER_05: We haven't even asked you about that.
- 28:18SPEAKER_05: Look, when uh when I get off of a plane uh here in the United States, I don't see military walking around with guns and everything.
- 28:27SPEAKER_05: When I got off the plane in Paris and then uh flew from there to Tel Aviv, when I got off the plane, I mean military's everywhere.
- 28:34SPEAKER_05: I I was all over Israel.
- 28:37SPEAKER_05: Uh went to Samaria, New Jerusalem, Old Jerusalem, the tomb of Jesus, um, to the Garden of Gethsemane.
- 28:45SPEAKER_05: Everywhere we went, there was always a couple of people on the bus with us uh that was actually armed.
- 28:53SPEAKER_05: And we're gonna see that right here in the United States if we don't stand up, if the Christians don't stand up, if the Republicans don't stand up and vote against all these things that are happening.
- 29:04SPEAKER_05: It's just like all of these mosques that are we already have, I know, at least 20, probably more than that now.
- 29:09SPEAKER_05: That's a disgrace.
- 29:10SPEAKER_05: It's a disgrace because this is a godly founded country.
- 29:15SPEAKER_05: Yes, it is, and and they are not that they're not on the same page with us.
- 29:20SPEAKER_06: Um they are not on the same page, never will they be on the same page.
- 29:23SPEAKER_06: It is diabolically different.
- 29:25SPEAKER_06: Uh it is Muhammad and Jesus are diabolically different people.
- 29:32SPEAKER_06: Their message is different.
- 29:34SPEAKER_06: The Quran and the Bible are diabolically different books, and you need to read the Quran so you know what you're up against.
- 29:43SPEAKER_06: They have no problem killing infidels.
- 29:47SPEAKER_06: I have the minute I say that, y'all, the minute I say that, I have a picture of them bending those men over with the big machetes and cutting their heads off on TV.
- 30:01SPEAKER_06: What can be more barbaric than that?
- 30:03SPEAKER_06: Even Thomas Jefferson knew how bar barbaric they were.
- 30:07SPEAKER_05: I went into one village while I was over there.
- 30:10SPEAKER_05: Um it is like one small house right after another connected.
- 30:14SPEAKER_05: And when I look to my right, I could see Gaza.
- 30:17SPEAKER_05: When I look to my left, I see this village.
- 30:20SPEAKER_05: Once Gaza attacked this village, the Muslims attacked the village.
- 30:24SPEAKER_05: Then they went in boots on the ground in front of every one of these houses.
- 30:29SPEAKER_05: There's a huge poster up on post of the couple that lived or the single that lived in that particular house.
- 30:37SPEAKER_05: They went in, um, they shot up the inside of the house, they beheaded people, they uh mutilated, raped, and mutilated the females, they took their babies and put them in ovens and baked them.
- 30:52SPEAKER_06: It's unconscionable to think what these people can do.
- 30:55SPEAKER_06: Who thinks like this?
- 30:57SPEAKER_06: Christians don't.
- 30:59SPEAKER_06: Christians don't think like this.
- 31:02SPEAKER_06: I mean, it it is so far removed from how our brains work in Western civilization.
- 31:09SPEAKER_06: And it happened right there.
- 31:11SPEAKER_06: Right there.
- 31:12SPEAKER_06: You saw it, you know it's real, you you you know what happened there, and for the very fact that no one how could you be when I put anything like this voting them?
- 31:22SPEAKER_05: Look, when I put anything like this on Facebook, I'm called a bigot, I'm called a racist, I'm called uh spreading hate.
- 31:29SPEAKER_05: I'm not spreading hate, I'm warning facts the people in the in the U.S.
- 31:34SPEAKER_05: and especially in Mississippi, that's my home state.
- 31:36SPEAKER_05: I want my people to know what's going on.
- 31:39SPEAKER_05: I don't want them to wake up one morning and and this has already happened, and then they're like, Why did you not warn us?
- 31:45SPEAKER_05: I think that God has given me um uh not authority, but God has given me a job to do.
- 31:53SPEAKER_06: Yeah, and he's given you a voice to do it, and you do it very well.
- 31:56SPEAKER_06: And there are some people who can do things like we're doing right now, be on on radio, be on TV, tell people the truth, and it is a fact that Democrats and Muslims lie.
- 32:10SPEAKER_06: Allah says it's okay to lie, and they are lying all over the place.
- 32:15SPEAKER_06: Look at the things they say they're going to give you free grocery stores.
- 32:18SPEAKER_06: Hey, how'd that work?
- 32:20SPEAKER_06: You know, all of these things are lies, and the counter to that is work and capitalism.
- 32:28SPEAKER_06: That's how this country became incredible and Judeo-Christian morals.
- 32:35SPEAKER_04: You know, Elise, and so many people are like, how did we wake up and this happened?
- 32:39SPEAKER_04: Well, we didn't just wake up one day and this happened.
- 32:41SPEAKER_04: It's been a slow deterioration over time.
- 32:44SPEAKER_04: You know, when we go back and we look, if if you didn't think when you removed God from our schools that years down the road we would be seeing these problems, we absolutely have.
- 32:55SPEAKER_04: You know, you use the word diabolical numerous times, and I think that word is so perfectly fitting for the difference between those that society and ours.
- 33:04SPEAKER_04: Absolutely.
- 33:04SPEAKER_04: When Senator Chisholm explains in what they did to that village right there, those actions that they took, yes, those things can happen here.
- 33:14SPEAKER_04: Absolutely.
- 33:15SPEAKER_04: And this is what happens when you allow your society to remove from its founding roots.
- 33:21SPEAKER_04: Now look, if there's a big debate about separation of church in this state and in this country, it was never intended that we were void of religion.
- 33:30SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 33:31SPEAKER_04: If you go back and look at the readings of the founding fathers and you look out the the words of the President Adams at the time, this is a this nation was founded for a moral and religious people.
- 33:43SPEAKER_04: It is wholly inadequate for all others.
- 33:46SPEAKER_04: It was founded on those prints.
- 33:48SPEAKER_04: So now they weren't trying to dictate to you if you're gonna worship Methodist or or Baptist or Catholic.
- 33:55SPEAKER_04: They wanted you to choose, but you were going to worship Christianity.
- 33:59SPEAKER_04: Yes, you were going to worship, and so it Or you were Jewish, or when or that's right, or you were just that's exact yes, thank you for the correcting that.
- 34:08SPEAKER_04: Absolutely.
- 34:08SPEAKER_04: But you were going to worship the same God.
- 34:11SPEAKER_04: Absolutely.
- 34:13SPEAKER_04: We have the same Old Testament, absolutely, and when we removed that teaching, you know, uh the last several years in politics, we it's been so encouraging to see more and more pastors break free from feeling the fact that, oh, we can't talk about this because we're gonna lose our tax exempt status.
- 34:32SPEAKER_04: They're like, you know what, if we have to lose that, so be it.
- 34:35SPEAKER_04: It's important.
- 34:36SPEAKER_04: Yes, and you're seeing more and more churches engage and more and more churches talk about the political process, the political candidates, candidates are invited.
- 34:45SPEAKER_04: We better be praying for the political process, and we better be praying for our candidates.
- 34:50SPEAKER_04: Or or or we're going to get further.
- 34:53SPEAKER_04: And we can't we don't have much further to go.
- 34:55SPEAKER_06: No, we don't.
- 34:56SPEAKER_06: We really don't.
- 34:57SPEAKER_01: You know, you you talk about we taking the Bible and religion out of school and government.
- 35:04SPEAKER_01: We didn't.
- 35:04SPEAKER_01: The Democrats did.
- 35:06SPEAKER_01: Why anybody would think why anybody would think that there's something wrong or evil or bad about the Ten Commandments and our laws in the United States based on those commandments is really, in my book, deranged.
- 35:24SPEAKER_06: Well, we let it happen.
- 35:26SPEAKER_06: That's another thing.
- 35:27SPEAKER_06: We just let it happen.
- 35:29SPEAKER_06: This woman, I don't remember her name, I think she's deceased now, but the one that said you can't pray in in um a schoolroom anymore, I know.
- 35:37SPEAKER_06: I can just see the teachers in the Davy school from kindergarten to fifth grade when we stood up in the morning, we'd stand up beside our desk, she would lead a prayer, say the Pledge of Allegiance, and then we'd sing if the teacher knew how to sing.
- 35:53SPEAKER_06: We would sing.
- 35:54SPEAKER_06: And if we didn't sing the Star Spangled Banner or learn the Army song, the Air Force song, we did it in our music classes and came out of fifth grade knowing every one of those songs and can repeat every bit of it.
- 36:06SPEAKER_06: And once that was taken out and history was taken out, what a shame.
- 36:13SPEAKER_04: You know, to the point that it it is true, those policies were promoted by the Democrat par party.
- 36:18SPEAKER_04: But you had the nail on the head, Elise.
- 36:20SPEAKER_04: They only passed because we didn't put up the fight that we could you know, just before Senator Chisholm came in, I was an author on the Student Religious Liberties Act.
- 36:30SPEAKER_04: We introduced that bill several years under a Republican supermajority and couldn't get it out of committee.
- 36:36SPEAKER_06: That's unconscionable.
- 36:37SPEAKER_06: That's absolutely wrong.
- 36:41SPEAKER_04: So, you know, here here's the thing.
- 36:42SPEAKER_04: We do have to make sure that to the point you made earlier, not only we're electing Republicans, we're electing true Republicans, but then more importantly, as voters, we are holding them accountable.
- 36:54SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I think let me just ask you, ladies, because I've never been uh I've been in Washington, D.C.
- 37:00SPEAKER_06: to the Senate and the House of Representatives, and uh Mary as Representative Mary Bono was always really good to take constituents and walk us through and get us seats and all that carrying on.
- 37:10SPEAKER_06: Uh, I've never done that in Jackson.
- 37:12SPEAKER_06: And I think it's time that the Republican women get in there and make noise.
- 37:16SPEAKER_06: You know, if you if I don't like what's happening, I might just scream something right out loud and you can carry me out.
- 37:22SPEAKER_06: That's fine.
- 37:22SPEAKER_06: I'll still mouth off.
- 37:24SPEAKER_01: You know, Elise, that's one of the things we would love to host y'all.
- 37:29SPEAKER_06: Kathy, you're on, girl.
- 37:31SPEAKER_06: I'm going to Jackson.
- 37:33SPEAKER_06: I'm going to Jackson.
- 37:34SPEAKER_06: I'm on a mess around.
- 37:36SPEAKER_06: Yeah, part of it's a good one.
- 37:38SPEAKER_01: One of the things that Elise and I used in California to make change politically was the Republican Women Federated.
- 37:47SPEAKER_06: Oh, yeah.
- 37:47SPEAKER_04: They were very, very good in working with an unstoppable force in our situation.
- 37:54SPEAKER_01: But what you have to watch out for is because they try there as they try here, the Rev Republican leadership try to control who's in charge, so they're not quite as voiceful against what other Republican leadership is doing.
- 38:09SPEAKER_01: And that's one thing that we were very lucky to have a lot of the time is that leadership that helped us move votes.
- 38:19SPEAKER_05: And they did.
- 38:20SPEAKER_05: They hinder transparency.
- 38:22SPEAKER_05: And transparency is something that's very important in the state of Mississippi, it's very important in the entire USA.
- 38:28SPEAKER_05: Transparency is something that we don't have like we need.
- 38:33SPEAKER_05: Maybe some transparency, but not like we need it.
- 38:36SPEAKER_01: I can't believe that they would do that, not let you see uh uh a bill pull a Nancy Pelosi, because Republicans hate Nancy Pelosi and hate that, and then the leadership would pull something like that here in the state of Mississippi, and I don't hear any talking of other people in office.
- 38:58SPEAKER_01: They don't know about it either.
- 38:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah, the people in office don't say, hey, this is wrong.
- 39:02SPEAKER_04: Not nothing.
- 39:05SPEAKER_04: Not only do the do you so often not see the bills when we did redistricting in twenty-two, they had passed the House bill the first two weeks we're in session.
- 39:17SPEAKER_04: We get to the f almost the end of the third month of session, we haven't even seen the maps in the Senate.
- 39:23SPEAKER_04: We've got a couple of days to pass redistricting, and leadership had not even let us see the maps yet.
- 39:29SPEAKER_01: How can you vote on these districts when you we weren't allowed to see them until just it's ours is Republicans who are past Democrats who go ahead and play both sides so when they're up for re-election, they can get Republican votes because oh, they're Republican, they're good, and they can get Democrat votes because the Democrats go, well, they they play ball with us, so we're gonna be able to do that.
- 39:50SPEAKER_06: Yeah, they'll they'll move across the aisle.
- 39:53SPEAKER_06: They'll go across the aisle, baloney, sit in your seat and stay where you're supposed to be and stand on your morals.
- 39:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we have a great story of uh that happening in California, and uh it didn't turn out well for the person who was trying to play both sides when Elise and I exposed their whole what was going on.
- 40:11SPEAKER_01: They were getting endorsed by the Democratic Party.
- 40:15SPEAKER_01: And this is for the uh um assembly seat in California.
- 40:19SPEAKER_01: Oh boy, we weren't gonna let that happen.
- 40:22SPEAKER_05: You know, several times I've been told you need to learn to uh reach across the aisle and work with the others with the Democrats.
- 40:29SPEAKER_05: Well, uh let me tell you what's on my mind.
- 40:32SPEAKER_05: Um the Democrats support abortion, the Democrats support open borders, they support a lot of things that I don't support, and those are not biblical things.
- 40:41SPEAKER_05: Jesus has taught me different.
- 40:43SPEAKER_05: I don't support abortion, I don't support the LGBTQ movement, I don't support open borders, so no, I have no reason to reach across the aisle to work with the Democrats.
- 40:55SPEAKER_06: It's very, very true.
- 40:57SPEAKER_06: If you are a Democrat now and you are voting for any Democrat, you are voting for all of those things.
- 41:05SPEAKER_06: And it's not what is this little thing I have here say it's not your daddy's Democrat Party.
- 41:10SPEAKER_06: Well, my daddy was a Democrat and it's not his party.
- 41:13SPEAKER_06: And I used to be a Democrat too.
- 41:15SPEAKER_06: And let me tell you, it is real clear to see the difference and to know what those people think and how they think.
- 41:24SPEAKER_06: And they will talk over you, they will scream over you, they do not give Republicans a chance.
- 41:31SPEAKER_06: And you've heard me say this even maybe last week.
- 41:33SPEAKER_06: Republicans back down.
- 41:35SPEAKER_06: Oh, we've got to still be ladies, oh, Christians turn the other cheek.
- 41:39SPEAKER_06: No, you have to stand firm now because the communists are here.
- 41:45SPEAKER_06: I am worried about what will happen if Delbert Hosman runs for governor and he gets all those Democrats to re-register Republican and then they run in and vote for him in the primary.
- 41:56SPEAKER_06: That can be a disaster.
- 41:58SPEAKER_06: And I feel that's what happened before.
- 42:00SPEAKER_05: That's exactly what happened before.
- 42:02SPEAKER_05: Um I will say this, kind of correct a little bit of what I said.
- 42:06SPEAKER_05: If a Democrat brings a good conservative bill to the floor, which is not gonna happen, but if it does, yes, I would reach across the aisle and work with him.
- 42:13SPEAKER_05: But that would be the only thing.
- 42:14SPEAKER_06: If they did something common sense, transgender is not common sense, it's mutilation.
- 42:20SPEAKER_06: You're gonna vote for that, excuse me.
- 42:22SPEAKER_01: Benny Birdie, Biden Thompson, he's always uh logical and uh conservative and and wonderful bills he brings off and how he how he creates himself and acts, you know, when he's in session, leading like the January 6th.
- 42:37SPEAKER_01: He didn't go ahead and destroy all that stuff for any reason but to protect the Democratic Party.
- 42:43SPEAKER_04: You know, you guys both talking about this working across the aisle and you know being friends over here, and you're you know, you're like uh these people that play both sides, right?
- 42:52SPEAKER_04: Like you like to play both sides of the aisle, and it got caught.
- 42:54SPEAKER_04: They got caught, right?
- 42:56SPEAKER_04: And their voters saw through it.
- 42:57SPEAKER_04: Look, it reminds me we started this conversation with football.
- 43:00SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 43:01SPEAKER_04: You know, look, we've got a great example of somebody trying to play both sides in the SEC.
- 43:07SPEAKER_04: When you tried to play on both sides of uh the SEC, everybody up here knows how that worked out for Lane Kiffin.
- 43:13SPEAKER_06: Absolutely, you know what I'm saying?
- 43:14SPEAKER_04: And so the same thing holds true with Republicans.
- 43:18SPEAKER_04: Be the conservative you campaigned on because everybody does.
- 43:22SPEAKER_06: Yes.
- 43:22SPEAKER_04: Go in there, vote your conscience, stand on your principles, and it y it works out good for you in the long run, and it works out great for the voters.
- 43:30SPEAKER_04: But playing both sides of the coin, well, Lane Kiffin tried to do that with two different schools on both sides of the aisle, and that didn't work out so good for him.
- 43:36SPEAKER_01: Well, the problem is.
- 43:37SPEAKER_06: I don't think I wanted him for my role model, but I do understand what you're saying.
- 43:41SPEAKER_06: It's compared that's exactly right.
- 43:43SPEAKER_01: The problem is they can't they can't be themselves because they're really Democrats.
- 43:48SPEAKER_06: That's it.
- 43:48SPEAKER_05: It's true.
- 43:49SPEAKER_05: Well, you know, the man who tried to be busted.
- 43:51SPEAKER_05: The man who tried to sit in two chairs fell between them.
- 43:54SPEAKER_06: There you go.
- 43:55SPEAKER_06: Absolutely.
- 43:56SPEAKER_06: There you go.
- 43:57SPEAKER_06: It's time for another break.
- 43:58SPEAKER_06: Boy, I hate even speaking.
- 44:00SPEAKER_06: Stopping for anything.
- 44:01SPEAKER_06: But we do have to always recognize those wonderful sponsors.
- 44:04SPEAKER_06: So stay with us.
- 44:05SPEAKER_06: We still have more to this show.
- 44:07SPEAKER_06: And welcome back to the Elise Richmond Show.
- 44:10SPEAKER_06: Conservatively speaking today, because I've got two good conservatives.
- 44:14SPEAKER_06: Well, actually, three good conservatives, counting Bob.
- 44:16SPEAKER_06: We will count Bob in that one.
- 44:18SPEAKER_06: Our guests today, as you may well know if you've been listening, if you are just joining in, former Senator Melanie Sojourner is here with our current Senator New Albany and the whole surrounding area, Union County, Palmertaw County, and all the other counties that she is in.
- 44:35SPEAKER_06: Five, she said earlier on in the show.
- 44:37SPEAKER_06: Kathy Chisholm is here.
- 44:38SPEAKER_06: So ladies, at this point in the show, I always ask my guests what they would like to talk about.
- 44:45SPEAKER_06: And so I think let's just you our our guest, the guest of the guest, former Mel um Senator Melanie Sojourner, let's see what you want to talk about.
- 44:56SPEAKER_04: Well, you know, off break, we were just talking about, you know, these these high fuel prices that we've been seeing and needing to give some relief.
- 45:03SPEAKER_04: And we've been seeing as all the neighboring states around us have, you know, their governors have taken action and have made some moves.
- 45:10SPEAKER_04: And then Kathy and I were just talking and looking, you know, where we saw where President Trump uh decided, you know what, it's time to for me to jump up and do something because a lot of states haven't made a move and are actually now offering, you know, all diesel at tax-free rates.
- 45:27SPEAKER_04: So excellent.
- 45:28SPEAKER_04: Um, you know, this is harvest season for farmers.
- 45:31SPEAKER_04: This is the time of year when a lot of our logging crews are really trying to get as much wood out of the you know woods as possible before the wet winter.
- 45:38SPEAKER_04: It's our heavy fall run in the cattle business.
- 45:41SPEAKER_04: So a lot of extra trucks on the road.
- 45:43SPEAKER_04: So this, you know, an excellent move by President Trump to make this move and step up and take action where some states had not taken action.
- 45:51SPEAKER_04: Um so I think, you know, and I hope I haven't seen the details of his.
- 45:56SPEAKER_04: I'm hoping that it will stay in place for so at least several months.
- 46:00SPEAKER_04: Alabama did theirs for six months.
- 46:02SPEAKER_04: Even if diesel prices go down, I still think that's something we should do for our truckers um to give them some relief because they've been paying these high prices for a good while now.
- 46:12SPEAKER_04: Um so yeah, very proud of Trump for making that move.
- 46:16SPEAKER_04: Um, proud for the states that had made that move.
- 46:18SPEAKER_04: And I and I tell you, Elise, as we just go forward, you know, midterm elections are coming up in a month.
- 46:24SPEAKER_06: Yes, we've got a month to make these people see that prices are going down.
- 46:28SPEAKER_06: Go to Walmart and look at the drop prices on every item.
- 46:32SPEAKER_06: Groceries are going down.
- 46:33SPEAKER_06: No longer can you listen to the communists, the Democrats, saying that the prices are so high.
- 46:40SPEAKER_06: The economy is booming, and nobody is giving Donald Trump credit for that.
- 46:45SPEAKER_06: And so did Governor uh Reeves say something about this gas thing?
- 46:49SPEAKER_06: Is that involved?
- 46:50SPEAKER_06: Did you read that?
- 46:52SPEAKER_05: Yeah, we have I just had noticed it earlier this morning and didn't have much time to look at it.
- 46:57SPEAKER_05: But we're all kind of hustling around this morning with everything.
- 47:00SPEAKER_05: Yeah, um, so uh Tate Reeves, our governor, he is the one that posted on his Facebook.
- 47:06SPEAKER_05: Oh, good, on his Facebook.
- 47:08SPEAKER_06: Yeah, he posted it that um that our president had had dropped the taxes off of diesel fuel.
- 47:15SPEAKER_06: That's right.
- 47:15SPEAKER_06: I'm correct in saying that.
- 47:17SPEAKER_06: That's right.
- 47:17SPEAKER_06: So listen up, everybody, that's excellent.
- 47:23SPEAKER_05: Because the farmers use the fuel with the dye, and they're saying, and I did read on there where uh Governor Reeves said uh he had talked to Sean Tendall and asked them to back off for the highway patrol want to back off on checking the dye in these vehicles, uh, you know, as far as your loggers and everybody like that.
- 47:40SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 47:41SPEAKER_05: Because of the I mean they may have to use their farm trucks or something, you know.
- 47:44SPEAKER_06: Well, now there's a move that we can all get around and use that when you're talking to voters.
- 47:50SPEAKER_06: It's time to open your mouths, folks.
- 47:52SPEAKER_06: It's time to stand up in your Sunday school classes, it's time to make sure everyone in those classes, every one of your neighbors, everyone of your family, your friends are all registered to vote.
- 48:01SPEAKER_06: And then you can't stop there.
- 48:03SPEAKER_06: You've got to make sure that they have rides to the voting places.
- 48:06SPEAKER_06: They know where they're supposed to go to vote, and help the Republican women get on the phone and call those voters, text those voters and say, hey, it's voting day.
- 48:15SPEAKER_06: Please get out and vote.
- 48:17SPEAKER_06: America needs it.
- 48:20SPEAKER_06: Not just Mississippi, America needs your vote now.
- 48:25SPEAKER_05: And if you're 65 years old or older, or if you have um adequate excuse, you can go and vote absentee.
- 48:32SPEAKER_06: Yes, you can.
- 48:32SPEAKER_06: Yes, you can.
- 48:33SPEAKER_06: And so let's make sure everybody knows about that.
- 48:37SPEAKER_06: Uh, because it's very, very important.
- 48:39SPEAKER_06: I agree with what one of you ladies said earlier in the show that we always say, oh, this election is very, very important, and all elections really are important, but this one is super important.
- 48:50SPEAKER_06: It really is.
- 48:51SPEAKER_06: It gets to your heart if you start thinking about um what the possibilities are.
- 48:58SPEAKER_04: Yes, Elise, and you're and you're right.
- 49:00SPEAKER_04: The issues seem to get bigger.
- 49:01SPEAKER_06: Yes, they do.
- 49:02SPEAKER_04: The issues seem to get more severe.
- 49:04SPEAKER_06: Yes, they do.
- 49:05SPEAKER_04: The election that we're making today, while the the people that are in office are certainly, you know, we're working with them, we see the things, but it's the our children.
- 49:16SPEAKER_04: Kathy and I vote our grandchildren.
- 49:18SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 49:19SPEAKER_04: The votes we make today is what is impacting their life.
- 49:22SPEAKER_04: And I and I'm gonna tell you, you know, we we have dropped the ball in the past and we have allowed some things to happen.
- 49:31SPEAKER_04: Absolutely.
- 49:32SPEAKER_04: And it is just so much more important now than ever.
- 49:35SPEAKER_04: I mean, I really shudder sometimes when I think about I have a granddaughter that's 16 months.
- 49:40SPEAKER_04: Uh the world that we're leaving behind.
- 49:44SPEAKER_04: And the decisions we make today are really gonna make a big difference.
- 49:48SPEAKER_04: So getting out to those polls and voting now, more important than ever.
- 49:52SPEAKER_06: Absolutely.
- 49:53SPEAKER_06: I hope you all heard that.
- 49:55SPEAKER_06: Getting out to the polls and more and more and voting, more and more important for what we leave for our children and our grandchildren.
- 50:03SPEAKER_06: You know, they used to all politicians would say that.
- 50:05SPEAKER_06: Oh, we gotta do this for our children or grandchildren, gotta do this for our children or grandchildren.
- 50:09SPEAKER_06: And I uh thought, yeah, they just keep repeating that.
- 50:13SPEAKER_06: They just keep repeating.
- 50:14SPEAKER_04: But what are you doing?
- 50:15SPEAKER_06: Yeah, but we get this mess.
- 50:17SPEAKER_06: Yeah, how did you allow it to happen?
- 50:19SPEAKER_06: You're the one in charge.
- 50:20SPEAKER_06: I voted you to go there and stand your ground.
- 50:24SPEAKER_06: Don't turn the other cheek.
- 50:25SPEAKER_04: And that gets back to the accountability issue that Bob talked about earlier.
- 50:29SPEAKER_04: You know, we we go out, we campaign, we get busy, we get excited during election season, and then we all run back home and we go to work and we volunteer in our church and we forget about what the politicians we elected did.
- 50:41SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 50:42SPEAKER_04: And then four years later, we're like, what is this mess they're doing?
- 50:44SPEAKER_04: What are they well?
- 50:45SPEAKER_04: Guess what?
- 50:46SPEAKER_01: And I gotta vote for them again.
- 50:47SPEAKER_04: We didn't, we weren't there.
- 50:49SPEAKER_04: Game recognition will do it every time.
- 50:51SPEAKER_04: I say this often.
- 50:52SPEAKER_04: I remember when the Republican Party of Mississippi used to issue a scorecard.
- 50:57SPEAKER_01: Oh, I love those.
- 50:59SPEAKER_04: And we graded Republicans.
- 51:01SPEAKER_04: But happened now, it's almost like we, you know, we everybody doesn't want we don't want to be critical of our party members.
- 51:07SPEAKER_04: We don't.
- 51:09SPEAKER_04: I coached my son's basketball team when he was little.
- 51:12SPEAKER_04: I he always would say, Mom, why are you harder on me than the other kids?
- 51:15SPEAKER_04: Because I expect more out of you.
- 51:17SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 51:18SPEAKER_04: I expect more out of my Republican colleagues because they are my friends.
- 51:22SPEAKER_04: Absolutely.
- 51:22SPEAKER_04: And because I did support them.
- 51:24SPEAKER_04: So we do need to hold each other accountable.
- 51:27SPEAKER_06: We absolutely do.
- 51:29SPEAKER_06: And I think it's it's uh all the politicians should be paying attention right now.
- 51:34SPEAKER_06: What have they done?
- 51:35SPEAKER_06: What have they not done that they should have done?
- 51:38SPEAKER_06: And they're the ones that are responsible for getting in this mess, and we have to stand firm on it.
- 51:43SPEAKER_06: And I'm also gonna go back to the churches.
- 51:45SPEAKER_06: They need to not be afraid.
- 51:47SPEAKER_06: Every Sunday school teacher, every preacher, every pastor, every rabbi, everybody should be saying what they need to say about liberty and freedom.
- 51:57SPEAKER_06: That's how the first revolution got started.
- 52:00SPEAKER_06: There were no newspapers or radio, although maybe were some newspapers that were passed out uh by uh Ben Franklin.
- 52:07SPEAKER_06: I don't know, I wouldn't there, but anyway.
- 52:09SPEAKER_06: Um really no, I wasn't.
- 52:13SPEAKER_06: But you really do need to to educate yourself so that you know why you're going there and go and do it.
- 52:21SPEAKER_06: And Bob, yes, what say you?
- 52:24SPEAKER_01: I want to say it's been a pleasure to be here with the view today.
- 52:27SPEAKER_01: The conservative view.
- 52:28SPEAKER_01: The conservative view it's been very fun.
- 52:31SPEAKER_06: I love it.
- 52:32SPEAKER_06: Right, and I think we can get fired up and and heaven knows we're dressed better than that other view.
- 52:38SPEAKER_06: We look better.
- 52:40SPEAKER_06: And we're gonna post the pictures.
- 52:43SPEAKER_06: We're being silly now.
- 52:44SPEAKER_04: I want to thank Senator Chisholm and Elise guys for allowing me all the way from southwest Mississippi to come up here and hang out in the studio with y'all today.
- 52:53SPEAKER_04: It's been fun.
- 52:54SPEAKER_06: I want to thank both of you.
- 52:55SPEAKER_06: Senator Chisholm, it is always a pleasure.
- 52:58SPEAKER_06: Absolutely.
- 52:59SPEAKER_06: We're just gonna work, work, work to get you staying there.
- 53:03SPEAKER_06: I'll put it that way.
- 53:04SPEAKER_06: Staying there.
- 53:04SPEAKER_04: It's so critically important.
- 53:06SPEAKER_04: We have to send her back to Jackson.
- 53:08SPEAKER_06: Absolutely.
- 53:08SPEAKER_06: And Melanie Sojourner, I want you doing something.
- 53:11SPEAKER_06: You have a passion in your heart, I can see it in your face, and you have to get out there and help us, and I know you will.
- 53:18SPEAKER_06: Just let us know and come back anytime, ladies.
- 53:21SPEAKER_06: I can't wait.
- 53:21SPEAKER_06: Thanks a lot.
- 53:22SPEAKER_06: Good, good.
- 53:23SPEAKER_06: Thank you all.
- 53:24SPEAKER_06: And listeners, I want to say thank you to both of these ladies.
- 53:28SPEAKER_06: It's been a great show.
- 53:29SPEAKER_06: It went by so quickly.
- 53:32SPEAKER_06: And um, I want to have a great big thank you to all the listeners that are uh out there.
- 53:38SPEAKER_06: Come back next Tuesday, live Tuesday, every Tuesday, listen live at 11.
- 53:43SPEAKER_06: We are conservatively speaking and saying exactly what you are thinking.
- 53:47SPEAKER_06: Yes, we are.
- 53:48SPEAKER_06: Get out there and spout some republicanism, spout some conservative stuff.
- 53:53SPEAKER_06: We are WNAU 1470, and we're gonna be back next week.
- 53:57SPEAKER_06: We want to continue to pray for President Donald J.
- 54:00SPEAKER_06: Trump and his family, and Vice President J.D.
- 54:02SPEAKER_06: Vance and his family, for all of our military, bring them home safely.
- 54:07SPEAKER_06: Um, and also let's pray for all of our senators and representatives all across this great nation.
- 54:13SPEAKER_06: God bless you and God bless and law enforcement.
- 54:19SPEAKER_06: Kathy Chisholm is throwing in law enforcement, and she's right in first all first responders.
- 54:24SPEAKER_06: Thank you so much for all of your work and God bless our America.
- 54:33SPEAKER_00: You've been listening to the Elise Richmond Show right here on WAU.
- 54:38SPEAKER_00: Be sure and tune in again next Tuesday at eleven for the Elise Richmond Show.
