Transcript
- 0:10Speaker 1: Hey, everybody, we're glad you decided to join us for
- 0:13Speaker 1: this week for a preview of Bird's Weekly presented by
- 0:16Speaker 1: the inside the Bird's Network.
- 0:17Speaker 2: That's Barrett Brooks. I'm Derek Gunn.
- 0:19Speaker 1: And oh, my goodness, you have two ticked off teams
- 0:22Speaker 1: that will be colliding at Lincoln Financial Field come Sunday.
- 0:26Speaker 1: You got the Eagles who got embarrassed Monday night in
- 0:28Speaker 1: Chicago and the Rams who gave up a game in
- 0:32Speaker 1: Denver that they feel they should have won.
- 0:34Speaker 2: And when you look at it, they should have won
- 0:36Speaker 2: that game, B.
- 0:36Speaker 3: Brooks.
- 0:37Speaker 2: What do you expect?
- 0:38Speaker 1: Now, this whole week, I'm assuming the Eagles coaching staff
- 0:42Speaker 1: has been browbeating his guys about, we said, we admitted
- 0:46Speaker 1: in unison on Monday night that we weren't ready to play.
- 0:49Speaker 1: We better be ready to play Sunday against this particular
- 0:52Speaker 1: team because if not, it's.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Going to be a whole lot worse than what we
- 0:56Speaker 2: had to endure on Monday night.
- 0:57Speaker 4: Absolutely, because this is a team that can stack it on,
- 0:59Speaker 4: stack it on, stack it on. They'll keep stacking it on.
- 1:02Speaker 4: They'll keep scoring. Because they have somebody talented enough to
- 1:05Speaker 4: go out there and do it. Their running game has
- 1:07Speaker 4: been tremendous. And what is our Achilles heel right now?
- 1:09Speaker 4: Stopping the run. You know, we can't generate pressure on quarterbacks.
- 1:13Speaker 4: We at least got to stop the run. I mean,
- 1:15Speaker 4: we had three sacks in three weeks. Yeah.
- 1:19Speaker 3: Three sacks in three weeks. Come on, man.
- 1:22Speaker 4: I mean, this is ridiculous. And you've got a team
- 1:25Speaker 4: that's really pissed off because the expectation.
- 1:27Speaker 3: What are they, one and two?
- 1:29Speaker 2: They're one and two right now.
- 1:30Speaker 1: Yep.
- 1:31Speaker 3: So, of course, they went out and spent all that
- 1:33Speaker 3: money on free agency.
- 1:35Speaker 4: They brought back a Hall of Famer that now has
- 1:37Speaker 4: to restart his clock for, you know what I'm saying,
- 1:39Speaker 4: because he stopped.
- 1:40Speaker 3: You know, he was three years into it.
- 1:42Speaker 4: Now, you know, being a gold jacket guy, being a
- 1:45Speaker 4: Hall of Famer, now he got to start all over.
- 1:47Speaker 4: He's already pissed off about that. And plus, he doesn't
- 1:49Speaker 4: play well against us, too.
- 1:51Speaker 3: Oh, he's ready. He's ready.
- 1:52Speaker 4: He got a young guy, a young guy, a senator.
- 1:55Speaker 4: He's going to be ready, man. So, we got to
- 1:58Speaker 4: be ready, man. We can't play around... This is a
- 2:01Speaker 4: must that this team starts finishing plays.
- 2:05Speaker 3: They have to start finishing plays. It's a must. You
- 2:10Speaker 3: know what I'm saying?
- 2:10Speaker 4: I mean, that's from guys running after the catch, office
- 2:15Speaker 4: alignment running down the field, you know what I'm saying,
- 2:17Speaker 4: following the play, you know, stopping.
- 2:19Speaker 3: And blocking to the whistle. Block to the whistle. Block
- 2:23Speaker 3: to the whistle. Block to the whistle. Don't hold them,
- 2:26Speaker 3: but block to the whistle. Come on, man. It's been
- 2:30Speaker 3: so bad, man.
- 2:30Speaker 4: But this is a game that I'm looking forward to
- 2:32Speaker 4: because I want to see what this team really is.
- 2:36Speaker 4: Are they a team that really is something? Because I
- 2:39Speaker 4: see they got all the talent in the world. They
- 2:41Speaker 4: have talent enough to be in the mix as far
- 2:45Speaker 4: as in the NFC. They got enough talent. They need
- 2:48Speaker 4: that talent to play up to expectations, man. You were
- 2:52Speaker 4: just talking about the Eagles' defense. only has three QB
- 2:57Speaker 4: sacks in three games. They have zero, and let me
- 3:00Speaker 4: emphasize this again, they have zero turnovers generated in three games.
- 3:05Speaker 4: They are minus five in the takeaway giveaway department.
- 3:09Speaker 1: They've turned the ball over five times in the last
- 3:11Speaker 1: two games, okay? This defense needs to generate some turnovers
- 3:17Speaker 1: to help the offense to shorten the field from the
- 3:19Speaker 1: offense because obviously the offense can't do it all by
- 3:22Speaker 1: itself right now or can't do it consistently. This defense
- 3:26Speaker 1: needs to generate some T.O.s for the offense, B.
- 3:28Speaker 5: Brooks.
- 3:29Speaker 3: They have to. It's a must that they go out
- 3:31Speaker 3: and they got to finish play.
- 3:32Speaker 4: Number one, the best thing to beat this Rams team
- 3:37Speaker 4: is to keep this Rams team offense off the field.
- 3:42Speaker 3: That means Eagles got to win the town possession.
- 3:45Speaker 4: They got to go out there and totally dominate and
- 3:47Speaker 4: have slow, methodical drives down the field.
- 3:50Speaker 3: I'm talking about 15, 17 play drives. You know what
- 3:54Speaker 3: I'm saying? And then when they get there, score. Close
- 3:57Speaker 3: the deal. You know what I'm saying?
- 3:59Speaker 4: That's how you beat a team like the Rams with
- 4:03Speaker 4: the high-powered offense.
- 4:04Speaker 3: Before you know it, you look up, and they're up
- 4:06Speaker 3: by 30.
- 4:08Speaker 4: So you got to make sure that you're rock solid
- 4:10Speaker 4: on your assignments, number one. Number two, you got to
- 4:14Speaker 4: make sure that you protect Jalen.
- 4:16Speaker 3: Protect him. You know what I'm saying? And then run
- 4:19Speaker 3: the ball consistently. You got to.
- 4:21Speaker 2: Aaron Donald is back.
- 4:27Speaker 1: From my perspective, I started to see him look like
- 4:30Speaker 1: the Aaron Donald of old in that second half against Denver.
- 4:34Speaker 1: The way he was splitting gaps and stuff like that.
- 4:36Speaker 1: And as you said, you know, the shortest route to
- 4:38Speaker 1: a quarterback is through the guard. And our guard play
- 4:43Speaker 1: has not been great. And I expect Aaron Donald to
- 4:46Speaker 1: be moving back between that A gap and B gap
- 4:49Speaker 1: all night long trying to find that opening in the
- 4:51Speaker 1: picket fence. D-Gun.
- 4:53Speaker 3: Gun, I'm going to take. Right now, he watch the
- 4:56Speaker 3: film right like, oh, baby. We're going to have some
- 5:01Speaker 3: fun here tonight. We're going to have some fun here tonight.
- 5:04Speaker 1: Oh, baby. We're going to have some fun here tonight.
- 5:06Speaker 1: You didn't go predator, did you? You went straight predator
- 5:09Speaker 1: on me?
- 5:10Speaker 3: We're going to have some fun tonight. Look, look. We're
- 5:15Speaker 3: going to have some fun tonight. Oh, my goodness.
- 5:18Speaker 2: One of my all-time favorite movies. I ain't going to
- 5:19Speaker 2: lie to you about that.
- 5:20Speaker 1: Yes, sir. Yes, sir. Yes, sir.
- 5:21Speaker 3: Oh, my goodness.
- 5:22Speaker 2: All right, now the Eagles are also facing another 38-year-old quarterback.
- 5:26Speaker 2: The difference between Case Keenum and Matthew Stafford is Stafford's
- 5:31Speaker 2: going to be a future Hall of Famer, and when
- 5:33Speaker 2: that man gets in the rhythm, he's surgical. Another stationary target.
- 5:37Speaker 2: He's not going anywhere, okay? But if you give him
- 5:40Speaker 2: time to throw the ball, he will light you up.
- 5:43Speaker 2: You have to get pressure on Matthew Stafford. We've seen
- 5:46Speaker 2: him do it successfully in the past. You have to.
- 5:49Speaker 1: This defense right now, in terms of pressure on the quarterback,
- 5:54Speaker 1: they couldn't get pressure on Case Keenum.
- 5:56Speaker 2: How in the world are they going to get pressure
- 5:58Speaker 2: on Matthew Stafford?
- 5:59Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying? Send extra attackers consistently. Send
- 6:02Speaker 1: a backer. Send a safety. Send a corner off edge.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Send somebody to make him speed up his clock because, oh,
- 6:08Speaker 1: by the way, waiting in the flats is one guy
- 6:11Speaker 1: named Devontae Adams, who I still consider the best route
- 6:15Speaker 1: runner in the National Football League.
- 6:17Speaker 2: He's not fast, but he is the best route runner.
- 6:19Speaker 1: And, oh, by the way, one of the best receivers
- 6:22Speaker 1: in the game, if he's healthy, Puka Nakua, And oh,
- 6:24Speaker 1: by the way, if you can't find them, you got
- 6:26Speaker 1: Tyler Higby running down the scene. You have got to
- 6:29Speaker 1: get in Stafford's face. You have got to get some
- 6:31Speaker 1: hits on him, B Brooks. That's the key right there.
- 6:34Speaker 1: You got to touch him. You got to hit him.
- 6:36Speaker 1: You got to have him seeing ghosts. If you don't
- 6:38Speaker 1: do that, it's going to be a long day for you.
- 6:41Speaker 1: A long day.
- 6:41Speaker 4: But I mean, even more so than that, I really
- 6:45Speaker 4: need the big fellas up front. I really need for
- 6:48Speaker 4: them to go out and play. They've got to play, man.
- 6:51Speaker 4: They've got to go out there and dominate. You know,
- 6:53Speaker 4: I mean, Davis Carter, you're too good. Morrow, you're too
- 6:57Speaker 4: good to have people single block you.
- 7:01Speaker 3: You can't. What is this?
- 7:04Speaker 4: I would have thought that, you know, this would be
- 7:07Speaker 4: disrespectful to Carter to have a one-on-one block. That's got
- 7:12Speaker 4: to be disrespectful to him. And, you know, he, bruh, he,
- 7:19Speaker 4: I saw him be the most dominant guy in the
- 7:21Speaker 4: NFL his first year. I expect the same thing coming back.
- 7:26Speaker 4: You're a year older. You're a year wiser. You're now healthy,
- 7:32Speaker 4: unlike last year. And I want to see that chip
- 7:37Speaker 4: on his shoulder. I want to see him playing like,
- 7:39Speaker 4: you know, all right, you pissed me off. I'm about
- 7:42Speaker 4: to put my hands on you. I need to see that, man.
- 7:45Speaker 4: I really need to see that. He said put his
- 7:46Speaker 4: hands on him. Yeah, I want to put some hands
- 7:48Speaker 4: on people, man. You know what I'm saying?
- 7:50Speaker 2: I need that, man.
- 7:51Speaker 3: I need that.
- 7:51Speaker 4: Because I know, man, he could be one of the
- 7:53Speaker 4: most dominant, you know, players in the NFL. And I'm talking,
- 7:59Speaker 4: you know, because I've seen it before. It's not like
- 8:01Speaker 4: I'm guessing. I've seen it before. I've seen him just
- 8:05Speaker 4: totally take over games. A la the last two years
- 8:08Speaker 4: with the Rams. Just totally take over. So the expectation
- 8:13Speaker 4: is I want to see another takeover.
- 8:15Speaker 3: Takeover. Takeover Sundays.
- 8:18Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying? And I want Davis to
- 8:19Speaker 4: go out there and say, look, you pay me that money,
- 8:21Speaker 4: let me show you. I'm going to earn this money.
- 8:23Speaker 4: I'm going to earn this money. But, I mean, I'm
- 8:25Speaker 4: going to also say this, though. If we got to
- 8:29Speaker 4: send blitzes, it's going to be a long day for us.
- 8:33Speaker 4: If that's the only way we can generate pressure, it'll
- 8:35Speaker 4: be a long day because you're going to need them
- 8:36Speaker 4: extra players out there to get Puka Nakua, you know.
- 8:40Speaker 4: I mean, he's just that good. He's just that good.
- 8:43Speaker 4: And if they can stop the run, and that's been
- 8:47Speaker 4: hit or miss, you know, even though, you know, against.
- 8:54Speaker 3: The Bears.
- 8:54Speaker 2: The Bears.
- 8:55Speaker 4: Yeah, since the Bears, they did kind of stop the run.
- 8:59Speaker 4: They only had, like, what, 140-something, 150-something yards? Yeah, but
- 9:02Speaker 4: they had 128 yards rushing.
- 9:08Speaker 1: They held the Bears to 27 yards rushing in the
- 9:11Speaker 1: first half. But then all of a sudden, the Bears
- 9:13Speaker 1: started finding the seams in the second half and had
- 9:16Speaker 1: 101 yards rushing on them over the last 30 minutes.
- 9:19Speaker 1: This Rams offense with Kyron Williams is averaging 134 yards
- 9:24Speaker 1: a game rushing.
- 9:25Speaker 2: You let the Rams run the football on you.
- 9:28Speaker 1: You know what that means? I was just about to
- 9:30Speaker 1: say it. The Rams start running the football. Stafford with
- 9:33Speaker 1: that play action.
- 9:35Speaker 2: You're in trouble. It'll be over, man.
- 9:38Speaker 3: It's time, man. It's time. You know what? Biggest thing,
- 9:41Speaker 3: I need to see this team finish. That means finish.
- 9:47Speaker 4: That means second half finish. That means finish blocks. That
- 9:51Speaker 4: means finish tackles, finish angles, pursuit angles. Just finish. They're
- 9:57Speaker 4: not finishing anything.
- 9:58Speaker 3: Finish. Finish plays, man. Finish the damn game, period.
- 10:04Speaker 1: What are we going to do about the safety situation, man?
- 10:06Speaker 1: This Eagle safety situation right now is a mess. The
- 10:09Speaker 1: tight end situation is a mess. Two of the most
- 10:13Speaker 1: prominent positions on the field, the tight end situation and
- 10:16Speaker 1: the safety situation is a mess. I don't know how
- 10:20Speaker 1: you fix either one of them until Goddard comes back healthy.
- 10:23Speaker 1: I mean, you sign Ertz, what are you going to do?
- 10:25Speaker 1: You're not going to go out and sign another tight end.
- 10:28Speaker 1: How many safeties are out there that are worth a
- 10:31Speaker 1: grain of salt are sitting out there at home waiting
- 10:34Speaker 1: for a phone call? So basically, it is what it
- 10:36Speaker 1: is with your safeties.
- 10:38Speaker 2: How do you fix these problems, man?
- 10:42Speaker 5: Football is finally back and PrizePix is bringing out their

- 13:19Speaker 5: Camden Apothecary, top quality cannabis, great prices, and an experience
- 13:24Speaker 5: made for Philly fans 21 and up.
- 13:27Speaker 4: First of all, I think they're going to have to
- 13:28Speaker 4: run double legal art. Some people call it bare front.
- 13:31Speaker 4: They're going to have to run a bare front. They
- 13:33Speaker 4: got to because right now they can block, you know,
- 13:36Speaker 4: anybody can block Davis and Carter one-on-one now, which means
- 13:40Speaker 4: they can get to the backer. The double team can
- 13:43Speaker 4: get to the backer. So in order to stop that,
- 13:46Speaker 4: you go out there with a bare front. Bare front
- 13:48Speaker 4: means you have a center covered, both guards covered. Then
- 13:51Speaker 4: on the outside, you got defensive ends or linebacker-esque type
- 13:54Speaker 4: of players on the outside. Then you can use that
- 13:57Speaker 4: in a pass play and run because they can run
- 13:59Speaker 4: games from it, but they're going to have to do that.
- 14:01Speaker 4: So when you do that, That's one less defender you're
- 14:04Speaker 4: going to have in the secondary.
- 14:06Speaker 3: So what do you do? You take Cooper and put
- 14:08Speaker 3: Cooper back there at safety.
- 14:10Speaker 4: And then, you know, they just brought in Moore, you
- 14:12Speaker 4: know what I'm saying, Kenny Moore.
- 14:14Speaker 3: Maybe he comes in.
- 14:15Speaker 4: I actually, you know, I would actually say I would
- 14:18Speaker 4: probably put Jonathan Jones in there, you know, more so
- 14:21Speaker 4: than I put Moore in there.
- 14:22Speaker 3: I like Jonathan Jones, man. Say what you want to say.
- 14:24Speaker 3: Jonathan Jones is a baller, man. He can play. He
- 14:27Speaker 3: can definitely play.
- 14:28Speaker 2: So.
- 14:28Speaker 3: I mean, I would entertain that. I would entertain putting Coop.
- 14:31Speaker 4: Back there as safety, even though he hasn't blown the
- 14:34Speaker 4: world up right now.
- 14:36Speaker 3: Maybe put him back there as safety. Well, he'll do
- 14:38Speaker 3: a lot better right now than Mokuba and Epps right now.
- 14:42Speaker 3: Neither one of them have been playing. They ain't been
- 14:43Speaker 3: playing very well at all. So, I mean, it's going
- 14:47Speaker 3: to be tough, man.
- 14:48Speaker 4: It's going to be tough. But, man, it doesn't matter
- 14:50Speaker 4: who you put back there. It doesn't matter where they're
- 14:53Speaker 4: going to be at. You got to finish. You got
- 14:57Speaker 4: to come up with an attitude, a mindset, man. Everybody's
- 15:00Speaker 4: taking it to us instead of us taking it to them.
- 15:03Speaker 2: Right.
- 15:04Speaker 4: You got to step on the field like you are
- 15:06Speaker 4: that dog. I don't see that. I don't see that
- 15:09Speaker 4: at all. I don't see the confidence. I don't see
- 15:11Speaker 4: the swagger. You know what I'm saying? I mean, you know,
- 15:16Speaker 4: everybody comes on the field and.
- 15:18Speaker 3: Wants to whoop our ass.
- 15:19Speaker 4: And we don't want to feel the same way about them.
- 15:22Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying? They coming and they laughing
- 15:24Speaker 3: and having fun. Because they're kicking our ass. I'm tired
- 15:27Speaker 3: of that. I'm tired of it, man.
- 15:29Speaker 2: All right. Well, the moment of truth.
- 15:34Speaker 1: Now, the forecast calls for 85% chance of rain on Sunday.
- 15:40Speaker 1: How could that affect the Rams' high-powered, second-gear type offense?
- 15:48Speaker 4: Same way it did when they had the snow. That
- 15:50Speaker 4: means we got to hand it off. Both teams have
- 15:52Speaker 4: to run the ball consistently. Run the ball, play, play action.
- 15:56Speaker 4: And hopefully your guys covering are better than the guys
- 15:59Speaker 4: we have. And I don't know, man.
- 16:01Speaker 3: They got Watson and the other DB from Kansas City.
- 16:06Speaker 2: Oh, McDuffie.
- 16:08Speaker 3: McDuffie, yeah.
- 16:08Speaker 4: Watson and McDuffie from Kansas City. So they can cover now, too.
- 16:12Speaker 4: So I'm putting my money on there, on our guys.
- 16:16Speaker 4: I think we got three of the best. You know
- 16:18Speaker 4: what I'm saying? I'm putting it on there. You know,
- 16:21Speaker 4: we should be able to cover anybody out there. You know,
- 16:24Speaker 4: Reed Woolen.
- 16:26Speaker 3: Cooper, Mitchell. That's three of the best. I just need
- 16:30Speaker 3: that back end to settle up a little bit.
- 16:32Speaker 1: Yeah, well, get your head in the game because you
- 16:35Speaker 1: can't have 10 penalties, this Eagles team in general, you
- 16:38Speaker 1: can't have 10 penalties in a game of this magnitude
- 16:41Speaker 1: coming up. I don't know. With that said, what's your
- 16:44Speaker 1: prediction for this game?
- 16:50Speaker 3: You know, that's tough, man. Because, you know, I'm a homer, man.
- 16:53Speaker 2: Yeah, I know. Homer Simpson, yeah.
- 16:55Speaker 3: Yeah, I can't be that much of a homer, man.
- 16:58Speaker 3: I got to, you know, I got to, you know. Bro,
- 17:02Speaker 3: it's just tough, man, you know. It's tough, man, you know.
- 17:07Speaker 3: Shame the devil. Tell the truth, man. I got to
- 17:09Speaker 3: tell the truth, man. I'm going to have to go
- 17:11Speaker 3: with the Rams, man. I got to go with the Rams.
- 17:13Speaker 2: I got to go with the Rams. Even though they lost.
- 17:17Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 17:17Speaker 3: They lost fighting.
- 17:18Speaker 4: Yeah, they did.
- 17:19Speaker 3: We lost and we just took it. We lost and
- 17:20Speaker 3: rolled over.
- 17:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 17:22Speaker 3: They lost and they were fighting. They pissed off. We're
- 17:24Speaker 3: not pissed off enough.
- 17:25Speaker 1: See, you and I have known each other too long
- 17:27Speaker 1: because I'm thinking along the same lines as you are.
- 17:31Speaker 1: And I predicted the Eagles to beat the Bears 24-20. Well,
- 17:35Speaker 1: we all know how that turned out. And on a
- 17:38Speaker 1: sloppy track, I don't know if this Eagles team is
- 17:41Speaker 1: going to show up on a short week.
- 17:43Speaker 2: I really don't.
- 17:44Speaker 1: But I do know the Ram, a Sean McVay team
- 17:46Speaker 1: is going to come in here and they're going to
- 17:48Speaker 1: try to take your heart. So I don't know if
- 17:50Speaker 1: they can. You know, sometimes one team has another team's
- 17:54Speaker 1: number for a reason. You know, in any sport, it
- 17:57Speaker 1: always seems to be the case. But I got to
- 18:00Speaker 1: go against the grain, and this one be Brooks. I'm
- 18:02Speaker 1: looking at this Rams team, and I'm looking at the
- 18:05Speaker 1: way the Eagles are coming off of loss, and I'm
- 18:07Speaker 1: thinking 27-23 Rams in this game, man.
- 18:14Speaker 2: I got to go with it. I got to go
- 18:15Speaker 2: with my gut. And I got a lot of gut.
- 18:18Speaker 2: I got a lot of gut. I got to go
- 18:19Speaker 2: with the gut.
- 18:20Speaker 3: I'm going.
- 18:21Speaker 4: I might go 28, maybe 28. 26 Rams.
- 18:27Speaker 1: Ooh. Well, considering the last weekend, there were 12 games
- 18:32Speaker 1: decided by one score. Hopefully it's a close game and
- 18:37Speaker 1: entertaining game, but the home team comes out on top.
- 18:40Speaker 2: We'll see.
- 18:41Speaker 1: So for my man, Bear Brooks, I'm Derek Gunn. This
- 18:45Speaker 1: has been Birds Weekly presented by the Inside the Birds Network.
- 18:50Speaker 2: Until next time, we out of here.
