- 0:27Speaker 3: I go by the name of fil.
- 0:29Speaker 1: I go by the name you know, BT.
- 0:30Speaker 3: Want to see where that who the devil doed.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Is in the village or walked in done? Yeah?
- 0:39Speaker 4: Drod has a flip phone. Joe has a flip for well,
- 0:41Speaker 4: I've seen the flip phone for a while. I don't
- 0:43Speaker 4: remember the last time I seen a flip phone. The
- 0:46Speaker 4: last time I seen the flip flowd.
- 0:49Speaker 1: I said, hold on, Joe, what you got going on?
- 0:51Speaker 4: Man? Because I texted him. I thought he gave me
- 0:53Speaker 4: the wrong number. It was a it was a green bubble.
- 0:56Speaker 4: I said, Yo, what's going on?
- 0:58Speaker 2: Yeah? So I mean, well, my ADHD and that phone
- 1:02Speaker 2: and like you're talking about with iPhone, yeah, previously, like
- 1:07Speaker 2: you know, all on those apps and you know what
- 1:10Speaker 2: I mean.
- 1:11Speaker 3: So this does not have any apps.
- 1:12Speaker 1: No, it takes along the text. Man, it was like
- 1:16Speaker 1: I got to hit the numbers.
- 1:18Speaker 5: A couple of times, so you know, you can't even
- 1:20Speaker 5: do a voice note.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Damn you like that aspired shot.
- 1:28Speaker 2: No, it's just it keeps my attention off of everybody else,
- 1:33Speaker 2: and it keeps me, you know, like like information I
- 1:38Speaker 2: try to intake. I try to make sure that there's
- 1:40Speaker 2: some you know, something that's other than what everybody else knows.
- 1:44Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. I do get information from
- 1:46Speaker 2: people they oh boy, you heard it, like okay, but
- 1:49Speaker 2: you know, instead of me just taking it all in,
- 1:51Speaker 2: because once I get through looking at all those apps
- 1:54Speaker 2: and all that information, and I get to taken it in,
- 1:57Speaker 2: and if it ain't good information, that's what I spit
- 2:00Speaker 2: back out, you know what I mean. I spit back
- 2:02Speaker 2: out the stuff that I intake, and most of that
- 2:05Speaker 2: stuff ain't good. So half of the time I don't
- 2:07Speaker 2: had any good to say, you know what I mean.
- 2:09Speaker 2: If I'm all in that app and looking at everybody
- 2:11Speaker 2: living their best life.
- 2:13Speaker 5: You've really been doing the work on yourself. You know,
- 2:15Speaker 5: when did that start?
- 2:17Speaker 2: When I went to rehab, you know what I mean.
- 2:19Speaker 5: I kind of like, was like, how many years ago.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Was that three three years April sixteenth?
- 2:25Speaker 3: Yeah, third year ye sobriety yeah yeah.
- 2:30Speaker 2: So back when I did that, I was like, you
- 2:32Speaker 2: know what, I felt like I couldn't do the stuff
- 2:35Speaker 2: I used to do and get ahead from where I
- 2:38Speaker 2: was at, you know what I mean. So if I
- 2:40Speaker 2: was going to go to rehab, then I was going
- 2:42Speaker 2: to have to change the women, you know what I mean,
- 2:44Speaker 2: because all of this stuff went with each other, like
- 2:47Speaker 2: the drugs, the women, alcohol, this the hanging out, you
- 2:51Speaker 2: know what I mean, the friends that I chose. So
- 2:52Speaker 2: I had to cut everybody off. And I love I
- 2:55Speaker 2: love the people that I cut off. I still think
- 2:58Speaker 2: about them and stuff like that, but it hinders me
- 3:01Speaker 2: to go back and repeat what I already done and
- 3:05Speaker 2: already see the results for it, you know what I'm saying.
- 3:08Speaker 2: So change the number, got a new phone, got off
- 3:13Speaker 2: social media.
- 3:14Speaker 3: But you still someone still posts for you.
- 3:16Speaker 2: I'm supervised, so you know, if it's something that I
- 3:20Speaker 2: need to know or I have to do drops, you
- 3:23Speaker 2: know what I'm saying, stuff that's you know, leveling me up,
- 3:26Speaker 2: you know what I mean. We all sit down like
- 3:27Speaker 2: this and they be like, this is what you got
- 3:29Speaker 2: to do, boom boom, boom boom when I get through
- 3:31Speaker 2: phone back.
- 3:32Speaker 3: And so there is a designated phone for you, you
- 3:36Speaker 3: just don't use it.
- 3:37Speaker 2: Well, it's a designated phone for me. But I have
- 3:40Speaker 2: to be supervised because if you walk out the room,
- 3:43Speaker 2: I'm like, you know what I'm saying, I'm not disciplined enough.
- 3:48Speaker 3: Is that your phone?
- 3:49Speaker 4: But you just don't have it or somebody has it
- 3:52Speaker 4: and they put all your stuff on it, meaning like
- 3:54Speaker 4: you know what I'm saying.
- 3:55Speaker 2: Well, I have my own phone, but I don't have
- 3:59Speaker 2: my own phone. So and then like I make sure
- 4:02Speaker 2: that everybody has the code, you know what I mean, everybody, everybody,
- 4:06Speaker 2: like my management team, my lawyer, you know what I mean.
- 4:08Speaker 2: My lawyer was got in on it. You know what
- 4:10Speaker 2: I mean. You wanted to hey, look man, you can't
- 4:13Speaker 2: do this. And I'm making sure you're not doing that.
- 4:16Speaker 2: And you know what I'm saying, No, I don't want
- 4:17Speaker 2: to fall back into what that was. That's a rabbit
- 4:20Speaker 2: hole that nobody wants to go down, you know what
- 4:22Speaker 2: I mean. Like, you know what I mean, Like it's
- 4:25Speaker 2: almost like a nightmare that I woke up out of
- 4:29Speaker 2: that if I if I go back into it. I'm
- 4:32Speaker 2: going back to the nightmare and it's just not it's
- 4:34Speaker 2: not healthy for my mind, you know what I mean?
- 4:36Speaker 5: Do you feel better?
- 4:37Speaker 2: How are you? One hundred?
- 4:39Speaker 6: That's good for the people like that don't understand how,
- 4:44Speaker 6: you know, dealing with addictions and stuff like that work.
- 4:46Speaker 6: Could you talk a little bit about, you know, when
- 4:48Speaker 6: you went to go get sober kind of like what
- 4:50Speaker 6: was your process and everything? To kind of help a
- 4:52Speaker 6: lot of people that really don't know the direction to take,
- 4:56Speaker 6: you have.
- 4:57Speaker 2: To have a support team, you know what I mean.
- 5:00Speaker 2: I don't believe I could have done it without great management.
- 5:05Speaker 2: Sierra's my manager and also she's run for office, by
- 5:08Speaker 2: the way, running for office man Forton County Commissioner District six.
- 5:12Speaker 2: But she's also a doctor and she has a doctrine
- 5:16Speaker 2: in behavioral and mental health, so she was able to
- 5:19Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying, like something wrong with you?
- 5:20Speaker 4: Bro?
- 5:21Speaker 1: I'm like what? Because blunt? What a blunt and a perk?
- 5:24Speaker 2: And you know what, Selean won't fix you know what
- 5:25Speaker 2: I'm saying, Because I could just drown this out, you know,
- 5:28Speaker 2: medicate myself, like I thought was you know, I thought
- 5:30Speaker 2: that was the way, so that process. What meant like,
- 5:33Speaker 2: you know, well, I'm gonna get your family together, the
- 5:37Speaker 2: ones who do care, because you know, you would think
- 5:40Speaker 2: that everybody in your family is on board. That's not
- 5:44Speaker 2: true for me, you know what I mean. I don't
- 5:45Speaker 2: know for anybody else, but everybody didn't believe it. You know.
- 5:49Speaker 2: I had some family members liked it the way I
- 5:54Speaker 2: was because I gave a lot, you know what i mean,
- 5:56Speaker 2: how all the time you could just pretty much take
- 5:59Speaker 2: advantage of me, you know what I'm saying. And that
- 6:01Speaker 2: was the same thing that went with in public, my friends,
- 6:04Speaker 2: you know people that was around, what could we get from?
- 6:07Speaker 2: And he got a show. Let's everybody pile up. We
- 6:09Speaker 2: about to go to the show. He gonna give almost
- 6:13Speaker 2: all his money away. You know what I'm saying. We're
- 6:15Speaker 2: gonna get high, we're gonna get drunk, and we're gonna repeat,
- 6:17Speaker 2: and we're gonna do this for what twenty years?
- 6:19Speaker 5: You know what was your breaking point?
- 6:25Speaker 2: Well, the repeating of it. And then when I saw
- 6:29Speaker 2: my child, you know what I'm saying, and I felt
- 6:34Speaker 2: like that's that was a low blow. You know what
- 6:37Speaker 2: I'm saying. When I seen my little girl like that,
- 6:39Speaker 2: I was like, man, I can't tell her not to
- 6:42Speaker 2: get high. No more. Car I'm still having it in me,
- 6:46Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying. So the best thing I
- 6:47Speaker 2: could do is just go ahead and change myself. And
- 6:50Speaker 2: then she saw it and she actually cleaned them question yeah,
- 6:55Speaker 2: yeah clean? And uh you know I was talking to
- 6:58Speaker 2: her the other day, man, and she was just she
- 7:01Speaker 2: was in her daughter mode, like you know what I'm saying, Dad,
- 7:04Speaker 2: and I just started crying. I was like, man, I
- 7:06Speaker 2: praised so I wish I could have pressed a button.
- 7:09Speaker 2: I thought it was a dream. I was like, what
- 7:10Speaker 2: did I do to deserve this? You know what I'm saying.
- 7:13Speaker 2: Then I thought about it and I was like, I
- 7:15Speaker 2: took my mom through the same thing. You know what
- 7:17Speaker 2: I'm saying. You have to humble yourself and see what
- 7:19Speaker 2: you put people through, you know what I'm saying. And
- 7:22Speaker 2: once you see that, you be like, oh, I get it.
- 7:25Speaker 2: I needed to learn this lesson, you know what I'm saying.
- 7:28Speaker 2: But my kid, what you do show up in your kids,
- 7:31Speaker 2: like the kind of person you are and the things
- 7:33Speaker 2: that you do. If they're good things, and good things
- 7:37Speaker 2: to show up in your kid. If they're bad things,
- 7:39Speaker 2: they're bad things will also.
- 7:41Speaker 4: So having been through all of these things to be
- 7:44Speaker 4: where you are, do you feel like you waste the
- 7:45Speaker 4: time when you were, you know, on the drugs and
- 7:49Speaker 4: all that stuff, or do you feel like this kind
- 7:51Speaker 4: of was a journey that took you to where you're at.
- 7:53Speaker 2: Now kind of in the middle. You know what I'm saying.
- 7:59Speaker 3: Do you remember? I mean, I have a moment? Can
- 8:01Speaker 3: I share?
- 8:02Speaker 1: I a moment? Man?
- 8:03Speaker 4: I was hosting Compound and you didn't even know what's
- 8:07Speaker 4: going on. It was your album release part.
- 8:09Speaker 2: Yeah. I remember that day because Roco was trying to
- 8:12Speaker 2: give me some champagne and they was like he said,
- 8:15Speaker 2: he was just was definitely there. He was just tapping
- 8:18Speaker 2: me and I was just out of it.
- 8:19Speaker 1: And then I turned. You know, this dude like Slick
- 8:22Speaker 1: raised me. So I turned and then he was like,
- 8:27Speaker 1: I was so out of my mind, you know what
- 8:29Speaker 1: I mean.
- 8:29Speaker 3: And that's when I got worried. Yeah, I forgot what
- 8:32Speaker 3: the year was that That year.
- 8:34Speaker 2: Was one of those moments that I was like because
- 8:38Speaker 2: when I when I when I got the feedback off
- 8:40Speaker 2: that night, they was like, yo, he was just standing there.
- 8:43Speaker 2: And then I had this thing, this myth thing about
- 8:45Speaker 2: me to when people used to be like, man, he'd
- 8:48Speaker 2: be out of it. But when it's time to wrap,
- 8:51Speaker 2: I just used to you were amazing, But I would
- 8:55Speaker 2: miss the best part of you know, the experiment, the
- 8:59Speaker 2: people well, the love, the paying attention, the want to
- 9:03Speaker 2: collapse and you know what I say, you have the
- 9:05Speaker 2: success part. And then you know, and then when I
- 9:08Speaker 2: wake back up the next day, I would again, just
- 9:12Speaker 2: do it again, and I'll be like, you know, they'll
- 9:14Speaker 2: be like, well, this person tried to talk to you.
- 9:17Speaker 2: You know, you know, you you said something of this person,
- 9:20Speaker 2: you ignored this person, You said some real cruel stuff
- 9:23Speaker 2: to that person.
- 9:24Speaker 1: Yah.
- 9:24Speaker 7: Man, Well, you know, unfortunately that's a lot of artists
- 9:28Speaker 7: journeys like drugs and all that stuff because they feel
- 9:31Speaker 7: like maybe they are better as an artist or whatever.
- 9:35Speaker 7: So it's just so great to see you come out
- 9:38Speaker 7: of that and just be who you are.
- 9:39Speaker 5: We're so proud of you.
- 9:41Speaker 8: We'll be right back with more of The Baller Alert Show.
- 9:46Speaker 8: You're listening to a special edition of The Baller Alert Show.
- 9:49Speaker 2: Hey take this out minus your boy you on Joe
- 9:51Speaker 2: on right here on the ball Alert Show kicking it
- 9:53Speaker 2: with for Ririe Simmons, Oh, C T and BT.
- 9:56Speaker 1: You dig what I'm saying.
- 9:57Speaker 4: Now, Young Doe was actually signed before TI. Yeah, bigger
- 10:01Speaker 4: record deal, bigger situation before t.
- 10:04Speaker 2: I the same amount like the people were No, it
- 10:09Speaker 2: was actually Roco. It was a you know, Monica was
- 10:15Speaker 2: into on it, like because she always has given me
- 10:19Speaker 2: big support. So the Roco thing, right, it was it
- 10:24Speaker 2: was crazy like because I wasn't a superstar yet. I
- 10:29Speaker 2: just had the pen, you know what I'm saying. Good
- 10:31Speaker 2: with the pen, and Roco was like man and I
- 10:33Speaker 2: used to just go around and be rapping for different
- 10:36Speaker 2: people in the street and you know what I'm saying,
- 10:38Speaker 2: And it was so it was so good. Roco was like,
- 10:40Speaker 2: I'm been and put the house on shot. So he
- 10:42Speaker 2: built the studio for me, you know what i mean,
- 10:46Speaker 2: southwest over there by Green Brown, you know what I'm saying.
- 10:49Speaker 2: And so when he built the studio, you know him
- 10:51Speaker 2: and Monica. You know, Monica was always supportive. I remember
- 10:54Speaker 2: me and her first song was You Deserve We redid
- 10:57Speaker 2: the he May Hail Mary beat with Tupac and and
- 11:01Speaker 2: Man Rocco had me with I got a song with Juvenile.
- 11:06Speaker 2: Back then, you had some big records. Yeah, I had
- 11:07Speaker 2: one with Jazzy Fay, Bone Crusher, Turk bunt Be, a
- 11:13Speaker 2: couple of more people, Monica of course. But this was
- 11:16Speaker 2: all on one tape car respect to connect it. And
- 11:20Speaker 2: you know, I was just feeling this way through it,
- 11:23Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying. And I think he pressed
- 11:24Speaker 2: up so many of those CDs and he forgot to
- 11:27Speaker 2: put the barcode on it. It was crazy back then.
- 11:30Speaker 4: That was the time when they when people actually bought
- 11:33Speaker 4: physical CD physical city. You were selling them in the
- 11:35Speaker 4: streets too. How much money were you making?
- 11:37Speaker 2: Uh? Well, we used to charge like ten dollars of CD.
- 11:41Speaker 2: But Roco gave me, like I think Roco gave me
- 11:43Speaker 2: like twenty grand cash for my advance. Wow, without even.
- 11:47Speaker 5: Being what'd you do with it?
- 11:49Speaker 2: I blew it.
- 11:51Speaker 4: I wasn't.
- 11:52Speaker 1: That's what most artists do it.
- 11:53Speaker 2: But to be honest with you, I was so into
- 11:57Speaker 2: my drug habit. But it was bad then because I
- 12:00Speaker 2: was trying to hide it. And then like on the
- 12:03Speaker 2: way back then, yes, like but because drugs had been
- 12:06Speaker 2: in my family for a long time. My dad, you know,
- 12:09Speaker 2: my dad been using, my dad using for like fifty years.
- 12:12Speaker 2: You know, my aunties and uncles all died off of drugs.
- 12:16Speaker 2: You know what I mean. They didn't live. Nobody lived
- 12:19Speaker 2: to be over sixty five or something like that. You
- 12:21Speaker 2: know what I'm saying. So, and my grandmama like had
- 12:24Speaker 2: like seven kids, all of them smoked dope self for
- 12:27Speaker 2: my mom, you know what I mean. So for me
- 12:29Speaker 2: to be on drugs, you've been like, oh figure, you
- 12:32Speaker 2: know what I'm saying, because that it had been embedded
- 12:35Speaker 2: in my family.
- 12:36Speaker 3: That you see it when you were younger, Yes, you
- 12:38Speaker 3: saw I had to.
- 12:39Speaker 2: I had to go buy it. You know what I'm saying,
- 12:41Speaker 2: Like my aunt ties and uncles will come over and
- 12:43Speaker 2: they'll send me to go get it. You know what
- 12:44Speaker 2: I'm saying, Like I knew where to go get their
- 12:47Speaker 2: drugs from.
- 12:47Speaker 5: When was the first time you wanted to indulge it?
- 12:50Speaker 6: Or did.
- 12:52Speaker 2: Twelve? I started smoking? We ad twelve, You know, I
- 12:57Speaker 2: felt a junkie was out there. Man. And my one
- 13:01Speaker 2: of my friend's mom she was she was smoking. She
- 13:04Speaker 2: was like, I ain't no boy, that we gonna lead
- 13:06Speaker 2: to something else. I was like, get out of here
- 13:08Speaker 2: and law and ball.
- 13:10Speaker 1: She was right, she was correct.
- 13:13Speaker 5: Introduce you to something heavier.
- 13:15Speaker 2: Or yeah, I was introduced to something heavier by just curiosity.
- 13:19Speaker 2: I was like looking at my friend and I was
- 13:22Speaker 2: wondering why they was acting, you know, more chill than
- 13:26Speaker 2: everybody else. And I felt like, you know what I mean,
- 13:29Speaker 2: I wanted to indulge in that. And you know, of
- 13:32Speaker 2: course everyone nah, man, you good, and I was like, nah,
- 13:35Speaker 2: I don't want to try it, not not knowing that.
- 13:40Speaker 2: I just thought they was having a good time that night.
- 13:42Speaker 2: I didn't know that it was going to ruin my life,
- 13:45Speaker 2: you know what I mean. I saw it, but I
- 13:47Speaker 2: was like, you know what I'm saying. I knew what
- 13:49Speaker 2: my aunties and uncles was doing. They was doing heroin
- 13:51Speaker 2: and cracking, you know what I'm saying. You know stuff,
- 13:54Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying. So when we went out
- 13:56Speaker 2: back when I was coming around, you know, X pills
- 13:59Speaker 2: and cocaine and weed, and you know what I'm saying,
- 14:02Speaker 2: that was young people were doing that, you know what
- 14:04Speaker 2: I'm saying. Then once I saw that, I was like, well,
- 14:09Speaker 2: this ain't that, you know, because we used to be
- 14:11Speaker 2: at big parties and you know, everything was going on
- 14:14Speaker 2: and everybody was indulged, and I was like, oh, it's lit.
- 14:17Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying, It's just everybody just having
- 14:19Speaker 2: a good time tonight. And you know what I'm saying,
- 14:22Speaker 2: Once I win in that rabbit.
- 14:23Speaker 5: Hole, it just when how old were you then when
- 14:26Speaker 5: you when you went there, I.
- 14:27Speaker 2: Want to be I want to say eighteen. I would.
- 14:31Speaker 2: You know what's crazy? I was the same age my
- 14:33Speaker 2: daughter was. You know, this is the generational curse thing
- 14:37Speaker 2: that I broke.
- 14:38Speaker 3: But then you started making a lot of money. Yeah,
- 14:42Speaker 3: so now you can support your habit and it gets worse, correct,
- 14:46Speaker 3: it gets worse.
- 14:46Speaker 2: And you know what I prayed. You know when I
- 14:51Speaker 2: first wanted to do music, you know, I really asked God.
- 14:55Speaker 2: I was like, I really don't care about money. I said,
- 14:57Speaker 2: I just want to have longevity. And you know, and
- 15:00Speaker 2: I was like, but if I don't get rid of
- 15:02Speaker 2: this drug habit, I said, it's probably gonna kill me.
- 15:05Speaker 2: You feel what I'm saying. And it changed. I started
- 15:10Speaker 2: morphing with the drugs when something went out of style,
- 15:14Speaker 2: like when X pills was like popular those became I
- 15:21Speaker 2: was like, the X pill was just stuff for so
- 15:23Speaker 2: much stuff. I was like, okay, this was enough. In
- 15:25Speaker 2: that time passed then Molly came, you feel me then
- 15:28Speaker 2: when Molly came. But and then you know, I spent
- 15:30Speaker 2: five years, six years on X pills, like eight years
- 15:35Speaker 2: on this and they didn't come to perksn't come to Zans,
- 15:38Speaker 2: they didn't come to Lean then you know, alcohol, and
- 15:40Speaker 2: we stayed there, you know what I'm saying. So it
- 15:43Speaker 2: was just I was just morphing into different druggies, you
- 15:46Speaker 2: know what I'm saying. So and by that time, you know,
- 15:50Speaker 2: I guess you know, God just kept his hand on me.
- 15:53Speaker 2: You know, because for somebody to survive that, and this
- 15:56Speaker 2: goes out to anybody that's using and you still living,
- 16:00Speaker 2: that means that it's still a purpose for you to
- 16:04Speaker 2: do because you can overdose.
- 16:05Speaker 4: Do you have any lasting effects, like does like your
- 16:08Speaker 4: ReBs heard or do you have like stomach problems or
- 16:11Speaker 4: I'm good?
- 16:12Speaker 3: Do you have no stomach problems? Like random headaches?
- 16:17Speaker 5: Did a Rocco ever intervene with your or did he
- 16:21Speaker 5: ever say anything?
- 16:22Speaker 2: I hit it from him. I was able to mask it,
- 16:25Speaker 2: like because I thought, well, clothes was my creep out thing,
- 16:31Speaker 2: like if I got fresh, you know what I'm saying,
- 16:33Speaker 2: Because there's a method behind how I dress. Now you
- 16:37Speaker 2: know what I'm saying because I saw it in school.
- 16:38Speaker 2: I was like, clothes keep people off from the attention
- 16:42Speaker 2: about what's really inside of me. You feel me long
- 16:45Speaker 2: as you long, long as you can see me fresh
- 16:47Speaker 2: and not my interior.
- 16:48Speaker 6: I was good on that, like a distraction, Like a
- 16:50Speaker 6: distraction when people won't expect somebody that's dressed nice and
- 16:54Speaker 6: that's room to be heavy on drugs.
- 16:56Speaker 2: Ultimately, that hurt me more than anything because everybody was like, alright,
- 17:00Speaker 2: he dead fresh, You know what I'm saying. And I
- 17:03Speaker 2: wanted that. You know, I didn't want you to look
- 17:05Speaker 2: at me any different. You know what I'm saying, because
- 17:07Speaker 2: I I'll be and I'll say to myself on some
- 17:10Speaker 2: arrogant stuff like what she would say, somebody me and
- 17:12Speaker 2: I'm cleaning than you. You know what I'm saying, Like
- 17:15Speaker 2: like that, you know what I'm saying. But like the
- 17:17Speaker 2: way the way it tore up friendships, the way it
- 17:22Speaker 2: the way I did, you know how like you know,
- 17:24Speaker 2: breaking girls hearts and lying and you know, lett my
- 17:28Speaker 2: mom down, and you know what I'm saying. And people
- 17:31Speaker 2: I made some people who cared. You know what I'm saying.
- 17:33Speaker 2: That that was like you know, like Ferrari or somebody
- 17:36Speaker 2: that saw me like that genuinely cared that. You know this,
- 17:39Speaker 2: this guy is tripping, you know what I'm saying. But
- 17:41Speaker 2: at the same time, it's other people wanted me in
- 17:44Speaker 2: that position because it benefited them.
- 17:46Speaker 1: Yeah, nobody cares about a rich junkie.
- 17:48Speaker 2: Nobody cares about a rich junkie if he's good looking.
- 17:54Speaker 6: Now, when you was, when you was doing drugs, did
- 17:56Speaker 6: you did you need the drugs to create the type
- 17:58Speaker 6: of music that you was making because you putting out
- 18:00Speaker 6: a lot of hit records at the time.
- 18:03Speaker 1: You know, still all to day.
- 18:04Speaker 6: But I always just wanted the does artists always feel
- 18:06Speaker 6: like I need to get high to get in the
- 18:08Speaker 6: studio and create this type of music that people are loving.
- 18:11Speaker 2: I think that's that's I think that's the trick that
- 18:15Speaker 2: the devil has, you know what I mean. He tried
- 18:18Speaker 2: to convince you that God didn't give you everything that
- 18:21Speaker 2: you need to you know, be the best person you are,
- 18:24Speaker 2: and I had to fight with that for a long time. Now,
- 18:27Speaker 2: I do want to say that it did stimulate, you know,
- 18:30Speaker 2: my brain and make me you know, think, you know,
- 18:33Speaker 2: harder and concentrate, because that's just what it is, you
- 18:37Speaker 2: know what I mean. But to say that that's true,
- 18:41Speaker 2: that's not true. You know what I'm saying, Like you
- 18:44Speaker 2: have you are equipped with everything that you need to
- 18:47Speaker 2: be the best person on this earth that God. You know,
- 18:50Speaker 2: the gifts that God gave you, those are the best gifts,
- 18:53Speaker 2: not drugs.
- 18:53Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:53Speaker 6: I just seen the famous quote that Wayne May when
- 18:57Speaker 6: he put out a documentary. He said, people are telling
- 18:59Speaker 6: me to put down the cup, put down the lian
- 19:01Speaker 6: and he said, I ain't putting down nothing, because this
- 19:04Speaker 6: lean got me more rich and more successful. So I
- 19:07Speaker 6: just always thought about there, like for a long time,
- 19:09Speaker 6: I'm like, does every artist do drugs?
- 19:11Speaker 1: You know to make this popular music that were listening to.
- 19:14Speaker 2: I mean, you can lie to yourself, you know, you
- 19:16Speaker 2: can a lot to yourself. But the truth is I'm
- 19:20Speaker 2: not on drugs now and I do great music, so
- 19:24Speaker 2: I would be telling you I'll be lying there. I
- 19:26Speaker 2: did a lot of myself and made me make myself
- 19:28Speaker 2: believe that that that that I needed that. But that
- 19:31Speaker 2: was the crutch, Like that was the that was the
- 19:33Speaker 2: move that the devil played. You know what I'm saying,
- 19:35Speaker 2: you need this, you know what I'm saying you need me,
- 19:37Speaker 2: you need me, you know, well actually you don't.
- 19:41Speaker 3: Man, Hey, Dree, So one of my favorite songs you
- 19:43Speaker 3: ever did. I always wanted to ask you this question.
- 19:45Speaker 3: I actually never asked you this in private, so I'm
- 19:47Speaker 3: asking you right now or revoked TV ball alert.
- 19:49Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't fuck with y'all.
- 19:53Speaker 4: Yeah, because I'm a big Can we talk about that
- 19:56Speaker 4: record and making that record? So I saw you perform
- 19:59Speaker 4: that live at the Pearl on a Tuesday night and
- 20:03Speaker 4: dug at the Pearl. It was a it's a club,
- 20:05Speaker 4: It's no longer there, Green Brier. The Green Brill was
- 20:09Speaker 4: at South Southwest. Yeah, right, the Green bro Mall long
- 20:12Speaker 4: live Johnson because that was his party. Yes, And I
- 20:18Speaker 4: was there on a Tuesday night one time, a DJJ one.
- 20:21Speaker 1: He was the DJ.
- 20:22Speaker 3: Didn't smoke or drink. Meanwhile, the club was lit.
- 20:26Speaker 4: Bit job over there lit, and I never forget dro
- 20:29Speaker 4: performed this song. I was in general population, just looking.
- 20:32Speaker 3: Up like, yeah, this is the reason I'm here, this
- 20:36Speaker 3: is the reason why I love Atlanta. Were talking about
- 20:38Speaker 3: that song.
- 20:39Speaker 2: Yeah, that that era was you know what I mean,
- 20:43Speaker 2: heavily inspired by I want to say young La man
- 20:49Speaker 2: he kind of like, you know, showed me a different
- 20:52Speaker 2: way of doing things because I used to rap so
- 20:54Speaker 2: hard back then and it was like before it's time,
- 20:56Speaker 2: and I was like, I can dial it down a
- 20:58Speaker 2: little bit. But you know, I decided to dial it down.
- 21:01Speaker 2: I was like, you know, younger lay made me feel
- 21:04Speaker 2: comfortable in that in that in that state, you know
- 21:07Speaker 2: what I'm saying. And when I recorded it, you know,
- 21:10Speaker 2: you know, some of him lingo were like, what's up
- 21:13Speaker 2: it out? You know what I'm saying? Always like big dog,
- 21:15Speaker 2: Like everything was big dog. You know what I'm saying.
- 21:18Speaker 2: And when I said when I was talking about, you know,
- 21:21Speaker 2: the lingo in there, I was really referring back to
- 21:24Speaker 2: Atlanta culture. You know how we how we you know,
- 21:28Speaker 2: how comfortable we are with how we talk. And I
- 21:30Speaker 2: was slag and you know what I mean, and all
- 21:33Speaker 2: that bow and all that stuff that we was. It
- 21:39Speaker 2: just fit, you know what I'm saying. And when I
- 21:41Speaker 2: decided to do the video, it just got Big Man
- 21:44Speaker 2: Mike Epps came. I had him in Chapel for as
- 21:47Speaker 2: on the West Side I'm talking about. He was out
- 21:49Speaker 2: there with one shoe on what you all big and
- 21:52Speaker 2: bugers I was like, this guy is super real and
- 21:55Speaker 2: I ain't. It wasn't nothing that I called. I ain't
- 21:58Speaker 2: even have to call him, you know what I mean,
- 21:59Speaker 2: just pulled up with Droyd. I'm on the way, you
- 22:01Speaker 2: know what I'm saying. I was like, man, this lit
- 22:03Speaker 2: Mike ELPs over in the hood man, So that that
- 22:07Speaker 2: that was that and that that was the first video
- 22:11Speaker 2: that had a filter on it.
- 22:13Speaker 3: If you look at the video, I don't know what's
- 22:15Speaker 3: the filter, like the.
- 22:16Speaker 2: Filters on Instagram, like the color, the color of it.
- 22:20Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying, Like, how you can you
- 22:23Speaker 2: know what I'm saying?
- 22:24Speaker 4: It was? It was?
- 22:25Speaker 2: It was lit? Man.
- 22:26Speaker 5: When did you meet t I?
- 22:28Speaker 2: Oh, we weren't famous. I think it was like it
- 22:32Speaker 2: was a rap.
- 22:33Speaker 3: You said that he stayed up the street from you
- 22:34Speaker 3: or somebody, so.
- 22:38Speaker 2: We were so we both was from Bankhead, which was
- 22:43Speaker 2: I stayed in the projects. He stayed in Center Hill.
- 22:45Speaker 2: So in hindsight we were already on the West Side together.
- 22:51Speaker 2: He just was up the street. In reality, we ended
- 22:56Speaker 2: up moving to the same spot in Riverdale.
- 23:00Speaker 1: So when I that's weird.
- 23:02Speaker 2: So when I got over that, I just you know,
- 23:03Speaker 2: I seen everybody kicking it and when nobody really kicking
- 23:06Speaker 2: it like us. Hold, that's so I'm looking like. I'm
- 23:08Speaker 2: like he had like somebody, I know, you know what
- 23:10Speaker 2: I'm saying. Then it just it came together, you know
- 23:13Speaker 2: what I'm saying. And he was hustling and you know
- 23:15Speaker 2: what I'm saying, doing the thing, you know what I'm saying.
- 23:17Speaker 2: And I used to I used to go down in
- 23:19Speaker 2: his house. You know, her mom used to be cussing up. Hey, y'all,
- 23:21Speaker 2: y'all do my living room more than purnature. I'm like,
- 23:24Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying. But actually we just connected,
- 23:27Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying. He I seen him how
- 23:29Speaker 2: he was moving it, you know what I'm saying.
- 23:31Speaker 1: And I knew.
- 23:33Speaker 2: I knew how we sold drawers in the city and
- 23:35Speaker 2: I've seen how they were selling draws out there. And
- 23:38Speaker 2: he was telling me, boy, it's triple out of him car.
- 23:40Speaker 2: You know our dins out him.
- 23:42Speaker 1: They thought it out of here.
- 23:43Speaker 2: I'm like, oh, lik, you know what I'm saying. So basically, man,
- 23:46Speaker 2: we connected.
- 23:48Speaker 5: Sixteen was y'all wrapping in or no, we was.
- 23:53Speaker 2: I was just doing beats man, Okay, he was. It
- 23:56Speaker 2: was like doing he was a producer, like he was
- 23:58Speaker 2: producing beats, serving serving service.
- 24:02Speaker 1: You're producing big serving and boy, yeah, just do back man.
- 24:10Speaker 1: And me I was just healing up because I had
- 24:12Speaker 1: I had got shot like a year two a year.
- 24:15Speaker 3: Why did you get shot?
- 24:17Speaker 4: Ah? Man?
- 24:19Speaker 2: It was crazy man, just I mean being in being
- 24:22Speaker 2: in the wrong place, doing the wrong things.
- 24:24Speaker 4: Man.
- 24:25Speaker 2: One of you dude tried me when I was young,
- 24:28Speaker 2: and it kind of like I want to say, it
- 24:32Speaker 2: shook me a little bit, but I knew I wasn't
- 24:36Speaker 2: gonna suck out, So I was like, Okay, you tried
- 24:38Speaker 2: me like that. Bit. I'm finna go. I'm finna go
- 24:40Speaker 2: to bankhead Cole really went from the area right there.
- 24:43Speaker 2: I'm finna go to bank had get my get my connect,
- 24:46Speaker 2: and we're gonna come back over here and straighten it.
- 24:48Speaker 2: And then when we went back over there and straighten it,
- 24:50Speaker 2: you feel what I'm saying, we did. We did and
- 24:52Speaker 2: on the way out, somebody came up to the car
- 24:55Speaker 2: and shot me in the back, you know what I mean.
- 24:57Speaker 2: And I had to wear like colossomy bag. You know
- 24:59Speaker 2: what I'm saying. Man, Yeah, I was using the bathroom
- 25:03Speaker 2: for myself and like at a young age, I was
- 25:06Speaker 2: out in my mind. I was like, what the world
- 25:07Speaker 2: just happened? Because I just thought we was going to
- 25:10Speaker 2: do some you know what I mean. Next thing, you
- 25:12Speaker 2: know that that was on me, you know what I'm saying.
- 25:14Speaker 2: So by the time I met Tip, I was I
- 25:16Speaker 2: was heeling up for my stable. I had like fifty
- 25:18Speaker 2: six staples and I had you know what I'm saying,
- 25:21Speaker 2: I had just got the bag reversed. You know what
- 25:24Speaker 2: I'm saying. I think I was sixteen turning about to
- 25:26Speaker 2: be seventeen.
- 25:26Speaker 1: So you got shot at sixteen fifteen fifteen?
- 25:30Speaker 2: Wow, you know I had to you know, of course
- 25:32Speaker 2: I had the bag. So once I went through that surgery,
- 25:35Speaker 2: I had to wear the bag till I was like
- 25:37Speaker 2: a year and a half.
- 25:38Speaker 3: The bag is you using the bathroom and it goes
- 25:41Speaker 3: into the bag?
- 25:41Speaker 6: Yeah, wow, Yeah, that's a lot of That's something that
- 25:44Speaker 6: a lot of people don't talk about, you know, when
- 25:46Speaker 6: you hear people getting shot in all this stuff, because
- 25:48Speaker 6: people try to glorify that in the streets, but people
- 25:51Speaker 6: don't know the aftermath of what you know, people actually
- 25:53Speaker 6: have to go through or getting shot.
- 25:55Speaker 2: Yeah, see my drug have it burst from then, Like
- 25:59Speaker 2: I believe because I was on some strong such stuff
- 26:03Speaker 2: in the hospital, right, and they used to give me
- 26:06Speaker 2: this stuff called demarol, and they used to be hit
- 26:08Speaker 2: me and then like and I used to be ringing
- 26:11Speaker 2: the button all the time. And then the lady, the
- 26:14Speaker 2: lady found that out. She was like, he's addicted, you
- 26:17Speaker 2: know what I mean? And I really didn't know. I
- 26:19Speaker 2: just kept saying I'm in pain. But most of the
- 26:22Speaker 2: time I wasn't in pain. It was just that that
- 26:24Speaker 2: stuff used to knock me out. It was opious, like
- 26:27Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying. So and behold when I
- 26:30Speaker 2: got to the hospital and then and and I was
- 26:32Speaker 2: asking him, I was like, is y'all gonna give me
- 26:34Speaker 2: that that same stuff? They was like, no, we can't
- 26:36Speaker 2: give you that, Like on the way out, like we're
- 26:38Speaker 2: going to give you some stuff, you know what I'm saying.
- 26:42Speaker 2: It wasn't it good stuff? So when I got out, man,
- 26:47Speaker 2: I was looking for that too, that high. I wanted
- 26:53Speaker 2: something to medicate me because that was addictive to me.
- 26:57Speaker 2: I had addictive personality, like you know what I'm saying,
- 27:00Speaker 2: Like I wanted that fix again. So that's when it
- 27:03Speaker 2: burst too. That's when I was like, Okay, when I
- 27:06Speaker 2: found something to have me sedated like that on the street,
- 27:10Speaker 2: I was like, oh, what is what it felt like?
- 27:12Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. So yeah, So by the
- 27:14Speaker 2: time I met Tip, I was healing up from that,
- 27:17Speaker 2: you know what I mean.
- 27:18Speaker 5: But then you went and got to deal with Rocco
- 27:20Speaker 5: before no.
- 27:21Speaker 2: I had to deal with Raheem the Dream, so it's
- 27:23Speaker 2: very okay.
- 27:24Speaker 5: So now the Raheen drinks I knew dream was first.
- 27:28Speaker 2: You feel mean because you know, we was on the
- 27:30Speaker 2: West Side and I was rapping at my cousins. He
- 27:33Speaker 2: was doing something on the bank at the bank which
- 27:36Speaker 2: was the Bounce, you know what I'm saying. So I
- 27:37Speaker 2: went in there wrapping it at his show and Raheem
- 27:40Speaker 2: saw it. He came and got me in. He signed
- 27:43Speaker 2: me in. You know, I had this song called yes Sir.
- 27:46Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying this when every you know
- 27:49Speaker 2: today people were saying yes Sirski you real me? But
- 27:52Speaker 2: I had an actual single call this in two thousand. Wow,
- 27:55Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying, Like twenty some years ago,
- 27:58Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying. That was my first single
- 27:59Speaker 2: call Yes sir, you know what I mean? Uh, Greg
- 28:02Speaker 2: Street broke it great, Dan, So that was that was
- 28:09Speaker 2: the thing. And you know I had to deal before Tip.
- 28:12Speaker 2: That's what That's what it was. You know what I'm saying.
- 28:14Speaker 2: I was on the radio. So by the time he
- 28:16Speaker 2: got on radio, I had already saturated on the radio.
- 28:20Speaker 2: And I think I think he was at the radio
- 28:22Speaker 2: one station one day and I called up there. I'm
- 28:26Speaker 2: telling girl, I'm like, hey, Greg, you know what I'm saying.
- 28:28Speaker 2: I was like, that's that's Tip. And then Tip like
- 28:30Speaker 2: who were that? And he was like, I was like,
- 28:32Speaker 2: this drove And then he was like you know what
- 28:35Speaker 2: I mean because he was doing you know what I'm saying.
- 28:37Speaker 1: He was like, you drove. I was like, you know
- 28:41Speaker 1: what I'm saying. He was like I had no because
- 28:44Speaker 1: my voice and stuff got heavy.
- 28:46Speaker 2: Like how you say that?
- 28:47Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying.
- 28:48Speaker 2: So yeah, man, So when I met Tip where we
- 28:50Speaker 2: wasn't we wasn't we wasn't rappers, were just kids.
- 28:54Speaker 8: We'll be right back with more of The Baller Alert Show.
- 28:59Speaker 8: You listen to a special edition of The Baller Alert Show.
- 29:02Speaker 2: Hey take this out minus your boy on Joe on
- 29:04Speaker 2: right here on the ball Alert Show, Kicking It with
- 29:06Speaker 2: for Ririe Simmons, Oh CT and BT.
- 29:09Speaker 1: You dig what I'm saying that With.
- 29:11Speaker 5: The Barler Lip Show, we got young Droe.
- 29:12Speaker 1: And the Bill Gi Yeah, fresh as always.
- 29:16Speaker 5: He's talking about TI.
- 29:17Speaker 7: You know, Grant Hustle years y'all was off the charts,
- 29:20Speaker 7: and I feel like that was Do you feel like
- 29:22Speaker 7: that was the peak of your success?
- 29:25Speaker 2: Yeah? I mean yeah, the bigger part.
- 29:29Speaker 7: Because when Shoudaling came out, I feel like it took over.
- 29:33Speaker 7: It's still about today.
- 29:34Speaker 4: Yeah, it's actually playing the dope thing about you, and
- 29:39Speaker 4: I feel like you guys are those legendary artists. Your
- 29:42Speaker 4: music is coming back because how radio is working now
- 29:46Speaker 4: is they're playing all those hits from the early two
- 29:49Speaker 4: thousands to two thousand and eighty ten's, So you're gonna
- 29:52Speaker 4: hear Droe, I heard whatever you liked the other day
- 29:56Speaker 4: on the radio. I heard Shoudeling the other day on
- 29:58Speaker 4: the radio. So it's starting to come back, which I
- 30:00Speaker 4: think is a dope thing.
- 30:01Speaker 2: How does that make you feel?
- 30:02Speaker 1: Pretty good?
- 30:03Speaker 6: Man?
- 30:04Speaker 2: I always wanted to make music that like classical music,
- 30:09Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying. Like, I listened to a
- 30:10Speaker 2: lot of alternative music, you know what I mean? And
- 30:14Speaker 2: those those songs are around today. You know what I mean.
- 30:18Speaker 2: Hip hop is the only genre that that says, Okay,
- 30:23Speaker 2: we're done with this, you know what I mean. But
- 30:25Speaker 2: you still can hear a John Bon Jovie song that's
- 30:28Speaker 2: still popping, you know what I'm saying. You still can
- 30:31Speaker 2: hear you know, those kind of songs still popping today.
- 30:34Speaker 2: And I felt like, since I have a sense of
- 30:37Speaker 2: that kind of music, I kind of had it in
- 30:39Speaker 2: my spirit to make stuff that I you know that
- 30:42Speaker 2: you still got you know that you can still play today.
- 30:45Speaker 5: You have an interesting story about how Shoudoline was developed.
- 30:49Speaker 5: Can you give us that? Can you share that story?
- 30:52Speaker 2: It came from us not dancing because the whole the
- 30:54Speaker 2: whole city was dancing, like and you know, I ain't
- 30:57Speaker 2: knocking it, you know what I mean. I used to
- 31:00Speaker 2: wish I could dance, but I couldn't picture myself dancing.
- 31:03Speaker 2: But we was like trying to fit in, you know,
- 31:07Speaker 2: trying to you know, not beat so much of an
- 31:10Speaker 2: art ball, you know what I'm saying. So when till
- 31:12Speaker 2: when Tip came to it was like, hey man, it's lit.
- 31:16Speaker 2: You know, faboed him got lafty tappy.
- 31:18Speaker 3: But originally it was Tip song right.
- 31:22Speaker 2: Originally he when he did the when he did the
- 31:26Speaker 2: hook right, he was going to carry on, you know
- 31:30Speaker 2: what I mean. And I was like, well, well, first
- 31:32Speaker 2: of all, we knew that we wasn't dancing. And he
- 31:35Speaker 2: was like, man, we could do.
- 31:36Speaker 1: This, We could do that.
- 31:36Speaker 5: I'm like, no, trying to convince you to dance.
- 31:38Speaker 1: You was about to do some snap stuff.
- 31:43Speaker 5: Because you had fall then you had the franchise.
- 31:48Speaker 1: It was lit.
- 31:48Speaker 2: But I was like, well, you know, I ain't never
- 31:50Speaker 2: seen you dance, you know what I'm saying. He was like, man,
- 31:53Speaker 2: we can just do something. He said, what you think
- 31:54Speaker 2: about this?
- 31:56Speaker 1: And I was like, you know what, go ahead. Then
- 31:59Speaker 1: when I heard them, I was like, I got this, bro.
- 32:02Speaker 5: But was the beat already made when he was doing that?
- 32:05Speaker 2: Because Little See Little c was there too, but Little
- 32:08Speaker 2: See what he was He Tip did this like a cappella.
- 32:11Speaker 5: And Little See is the producer.
- 32:12Speaker 1: Just Little See came with.
- 32:13Speaker 2: That beat man, and I remember hearing it and when
- 32:17Speaker 2: he when Tip put his voice on that beat, and
- 32:19Speaker 2: it was in little Seek because Little he did the
- 32:22Speaker 2: beat around what he was. You feel what I'm saying.
- 32:27Speaker 2: I heard that and I had this. I had this
- 32:32Speaker 2: like a dream, like a vision. I was like, man,
- 32:36Speaker 2: when I when I wraped this, I'm gonna say how
- 32:38Speaker 2: fresh I am. And I could just see myself back
- 32:41Speaker 2: in the crowd up and showing off my feet on cleaning.
- 32:44Speaker 2: It was almost like it was almost like a book. Man,
- 32:51Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying.
- 32:52Speaker 5: That's so classic. He said, go to the club and
- 32:56Speaker 5: you was that you had to finish the song.
- 32:58Speaker 1: Yeah, they wasn't there when I did it.
- 33:00Speaker 2: Nah, they wasn't around when I did it, so back
- 33:02Speaker 2: when I came. So when I got through it and
- 33:05Speaker 2: they heard it, man, Tip and was like man, So
- 33:09Speaker 2: we ended up. He was on tour.
- 33:11Speaker 1: We drove to Jacksonville, Florida.
- 33:13Speaker 2: This is what the song was his birthday because at
- 33:17Speaker 2: first it was just amongst us like so they were like, okay,
- 33:19Speaker 2: that's Joy's high man. We got the Jacksonville, Florida on
- 33:22Speaker 2: the tour bus and we had like a bunch of
- 33:24Speaker 2: girls come up. Everybody was on the bus and were
- 33:27Speaker 2: having a good time. So Tip was like, put this home.
- 33:30Speaker 4: Man.
- 33:31Speaker 1: When they put that song on, broke we on it
- 33:36Speaker 1: was like it was lit.
- 33:39Speaker 2: Bro we knew.
- 33:42Speaker 3: Okay, So since we're here, this ends up being your
- 33:45Speaker 3: biggest record today.
- 33:47Speaker 1: Yes, well no, I think FDB was bigger than that.
- 33:49Speaker 4: Okay, I know, but but did did FTB chart higher
- 33:55Speaker 4: than Shoulderling? Which one made you the most money?
- 33:58Speaker 2: I think that FDB is a more bigger song because
- 34:03Speaker 2: it's everybody. Everybody feels that, everybody can relate to it
- 34:07Speaker 2: all all all skin, all skin tone of people feel that.
- 34:11Speaker 1: You me and a lot of people know.
- 34:12Speaker 2: Shoudling show Lean went one two right then I sold
- 34:18Speaker 2: two million ring Tones, So that's like four million, you
- 34:22Speaker 2: know what I'm saying.
- 34:23Speaker 3: At the time when Big.
- 34:25Speaker 2: Tones was big. So so I know, I know it
- 34:28Speaker 2: went platinum twice, and I know I bought it, you
- 34:30Speaker 2: know what I'm saying. And then like you know what
- 34:31Speaker 2: I'm saying, So I got a ring Tone Award for
- 34:35Speaker 2: that song, you know, you know what I mean. I
- 34:36Speaker 2: remember a kind giving me that, you know what I'm saying. So,
- 34:39Speaker 2: and I was the first one to get a ring
- 34:41Speaker 2: Tone award.
- 34:42Speaker 1: Wow. Yeah, don't let Soldier War hear this.
- 34:46Speaker 5: But then you had we Be in the City. That
- 34:48Speaker 5: was another big one that my.
- 34:50Speaker 2: Favorite I heard that played at the Olympics. That was
- 34:53Speaker 2: a pretty big song. I heard that somebody sent me that.
- 34:57Speaker 6: You beat's always crazy. Man, you got you you got
- 35:00Speaker 6: a ear when it comes to beats.
- 35:02Speaker 3: I also like when you perform that song because you
- 35:05Speaker 3: let it cut off and you go a compella. You
- 35:07Speaker 3: go a compella.
- 35:09Speaker 2: Yeah, I try to let you know, you know, I
- 35:11Speaker 2: you know, that's when I try to show people how
- 35:13Speaker 2: much I like music.
- 35:15Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying.
- 35:16Speaker 2: People people like you know, you hear stuff on the radio,
- 35:19Speaker 2: you hear people record, But a live show shows how
- 35:23Speaker 2: much you're embedding into what your craft is and how
- 35:27Speaker 2: you want it to be. Come out to the people,
- 35:29Speaker 2: you know what I'm.
- 35:30Speaker 1: Saying now the showder Lin come out before Fat Joe.
- 35:35Speaker 6: Laying back, because I remember he was talking about like
- 35:38Speaker 6: people in the South took you know, his song and
- 35:40Speaker 6: everybody just kept, you know, remaking it.
- 35:43Speaker 2: That whole bacle was weird because I don't I don't remember.
- 35:48Speaker 2: I can't tell you that I heard Fat Joe and
- 35:51Speaker 2: you know what I mean.
- 35:52Speaker 1: I just always wondered that because I seen him make
- 35:54Speaker 1: you know.
- 35:54Speaker 2: He I saw that that was kind of weird, you
- 35:56Speaker 2: know what I mean. I seen it was.
- 35:58Speaker 1: Because it was a lot of lean song. After you know.
- 36:02Speaker 2: But the thing about it is, I don't even think
- 36:04Speaker 2: that anyone knew of anyone doing it, you know what
- 36:09Speaker 2: I'm saying, Like, I don't think franchise you know, you
- 36:14Speaker 2: know knew drou was doing it, or I was was
- 36:16Speaker 2: aware of it. Was like, oh, I'm gonna do a
- 36:18Speaker 2: lean song. I didn't know.
- 36:21Speaker 3: Now you've had some You've had a very high profiled relationship.
- 36:27Speaker 4: Can we get any type of who else have you?
- 36:30Speaker 4: Were you in a relationship with that was kind of big?
- 36:32Speaker 4: That may have went under the radar.
- 36:35Speaker 2: Oh man, I actually that was the only thing.
- 36:38Speaker 3: Is you famous folks be having relationships?
- 36:41Speaker 2: I actually, man, you know what, I'm a hood. I'm
- 36:43Speaker 2: a hood dude, you know what I'm saying. I for
- 36:47Speaker 2: the most part, I was I was all about a
- 36:50Speaker 2: fine chip from around the way tight, you know what
- 36:53Speaker 2: I'm saying, Like because it fit my persona, you know
- 36:56Speaker 2: what I'm saying. Even though a lot of you know
- 37:00Speaker 2: what I mean, I smashed some stuff. I won't say,
- 37:04Speaker 2: keep it a peak. I won't say. You know what
- 37:06Speaker 2: I'm saying. Whatever they did see it went public. You
- 37:08Speaker 2: can have that, but I wouldn't tell what was it?
- 37:11Speaker 6: Anybody that you was like, man, I can't believe you
- 37:15Speaker 6: know this shorty doesn't hit me up. You know, this
- 37:17Speaker 6: was somebody that I always wanted.
- 37:19Speaker 2: Of course, okay, yes.
- 37:20Speaker 5: Or anybody now or do you want to be married?
- 37:23Speaker 2: Or I mean, well right now? Man, it's I'm working
- 37:27Speaker 2: on myself and I just was.
- 37:30Speaker 1: I just had to to separate myself from spreading myself thin.
- 37:36Speaker 1: You know what I mean.
- 37:37Speaker 2: I've dealt with some cheeks. You know what I'm saying
- 37:39Speaker 2: that you know, some real good women. You know what
- 37:42Speaker 2: I mean, And I mean real good women. You know
- 37:44Speaker 2: what I'm saying. But you know, once you once you
- 37:48Speaker 2: done had your share, whatever you pick and choose. You
- 37:52Speaker 2: know what I'm saying. You might you know, you want
- 37:54Speaker 2: to just make sure. I want to make sure when
- 37:57Speaker 2: I jump back into this relationship whole. You know what
- 38:00Speaker 2: I'm saying, You ain't gonna get nobody else need to
- 38:02Speaker 2: get high and you're not working on itself. And it's
- 38:05Speaker 2: it's some stuff. I went to the rehab because it
- 38:07Speaker 2: was stuff I needed to regrab. You know what I'm
- 38:09Speaker 2: saying about myself that I need to be doing. How
- 38:12Speaker 2: much of a man that I need to, you know,
- 38:14Speaker 2: be to give to this relationship.
- 38:16Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. I don't want to short
- 38:17Speaker 1: change the next person. Gotcha? So could you ever date
- 38:20Speaker 1: a woman that drink or smoke?
- 38:24Speaker 2: Nah?
- 38:25Speaker 1: Wow?
- 38:26Speaker 3: So she can't drink or smoke.
- 38:28Speaker 2: I mean you can drink, but you can't be an alcoholic.
- 38:32Speaker 2: You know what I mean.
- 38:32Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 38:34Speaker 2: I ain't ever thought chicks who smoked weed was attractive,
- 38:38Speaker 2: like we do it later. What you talking about?
- 38:43Speaker 6: You?
- 38:45Speaker 4: For you?
- 38:45Speaker 2: It's not triggering. It's almost embarrassing, like to just have
- 38:48Speaker 2: a check that. You know what I'm saying.
- 38:50Speaker 5: Anybody who can drink.
- 38:51Speaker 3: You don't think this is gonna bother the women who
- 38:54Speaker 3: smoke weed.
- 38:55Speaker 1: I just it just ain't for me. You know what
- 38:57Speaker 1: I'm saying.
- 38:58Speaker 2: I'm not knocking it. It's it's just ain't you know
- 39:00Speaker 2: what I'm saying. Because women be so beautiful, you know
- 39:03Speaker 2: what I'm saying, Like smoking is not good. You know
- 39:06Speaker 2: what I'm saying in so many wait words?
- 39:08Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying.
- 39:09Speaker 2: If you look at it like because I got children
- 39:13Speaker 2: to raise, and then for me to be saying, oh
- 39:16Speaker 2: you ain't gonna be smoking nothing, and then mama and
- 39:18Speaker 2: there like come on, man, I cut it out for
- 39:20Speaker 2: my son, you know what I'm saying, So own't on
- 39:22Speaker 2: him saying I got this from dad. You know what
- 39:24Speaker 2: I'm saying. You know I went through that with my child.
- 39:28Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. It's just not your preference,
- 39:30Speaker 2: not my preference.
- 39:31Speaker 1: And everybody got a preference to your preference is polo.
- 39:34Speaker 7: I was gonna say, how was Joe the father today?
- 39:37Speaker 7: Are you in all the baseball games or at.
- 39:40Speaker 1: The basketball games?
- 39:41Speaker 2: And I had to learn how to be dad and
- 39:44Speaker 2: stop wearing jewelry because I used to be culled three
- 39:47Speaker 2: four chains on pulling up in these you know what
- 39:49Speaker 2: I'm saying. It was like look looking at me, like
- 39:51Speaker 2: you just dad today, man. But I had to humber myself.
- 40:01Speaker 2: Stop wearing jewelry to the games, stop dressing up so
- 40:06Speaker 2: you know, because sometimes I just go to these games
- 40:09Speaker 2: and people be like why, I don't know. I got
- 40:12Speaker 2: to learn how to turn it off. So right now
- 40:14Speaker 2: I'm more conscious about what I let him see, or
- 40:17Speaker 2: about my attitude, about what I accept, what I don't accept,
- 40:21Speaker 2: what's around me. You know what I mean, letting what
- 40:23Speaker 2: I'm letting him see, what I'm letting him listen to
- 40:25Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying. So, yeah, it's different.
- 40:27Speaker 5: Do you see a lot of yourself in him?
- 40:29Speaker 2: A lot of it? And I have to correct it.
- 40:31Speaker 2: And I believe, I truly believe. This is one of
- 40:34Speaker 2: the reasons why I'm not on drugs because I'm able
- 40:36Speaker 2: to see it now. If I was under the influence,
- 40:39Speaker 2: I would let my child grow up to be exactly
- 40:41Speaker 2: like me. And that's not the goal.
- 40:44Speaker 5: So you don't have two kids, I have three. Three Okay,
- 40:47Speaker 5: do you see music in their future or anything like that.
- 40:51Speaker 2: My son is going to be great at something. I
- 40:55Speaker 2: think sports, you know what I mean. He's he just
- 40:58Speaker 2: turned eight, and he's so smart in basketball. He had
- 41:02Speaker 2: to have this information at five or you know what
- 41:04Speaker 2: I mean. He knows so much about basketball to you
- 41:09Speaker 2: it would trip you out, you know what I mean.
- 41:11Speaker 2: And his body, the way he built like I see him,
- 41:14Speaker 2: I see myself and him. When I was young, I
- 41:15Speaker 2: would cut up and I played football before I got shot.
- 41:18Speaker 2: But he has a football physique, but he loves basketball.
- 41:22Speaker 2: So I know he's going to be big. Mark my words,
- 41:26Speaker 2: He's gonna be famous.
- 41:27Speaker 1: That's good.
- 41:28Speaker 4: Now, does Droe do you work out? Like what did
- 41:31Speaker 4: you change about your life. Are you doing something that
- 41:33Speaker 4: you've never done before that's kind of like new?
- 41:36Speaker 2: Or yes, I get up every morning and that workout
- 41:39Speaker 2: every morning.
- 41:40Speaker 1: Never did that before?
- 41:41Speaker 3: No, Like do you job to hit the elliptical?
- 41:45Speaker 4: What do you do?
- 41:47Speaker 1: I walked five miles? Wow, every day, every day, five miles.
- 41:52Speaker 3: That's a long time.
- 41:54Speaker 5: Changed.
- 41:55Speaker 2: Yeah, well it changes because I don't want to still
- 42:00Speaker 2: spicy dog meat.
- 42:03Speaker 1: I mean, I mean like I can't eat exquisitely. You
- 42:06Speaker 1: know what I'm saying.
- 42:07Speaker 2: I can eat you know, the alligators and the dover
- 42:10Speaker 2: the dover fish and stuff like that, squid and sea
- 42:13Speaker 2: arch and you know what I'm saying. I can eat
- 42:15Speaker 2: that type stuff because it's not too heavy. But I
- 42:17Speaker 2: do try to eat right so I can help out
- 42:21Speaker 2: the five miles.
- 42:22Speaker 5: I don't want to be eating too much, too tired.
- 42:25Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I got a little gym. Put it in
- 42:27Speaker 2: my put it in the garage. I go work out.
- 42:30Speaker 2: Do that. I do that every morning, And that's that's
- 42:33Speaker 2: tough to get up at seven point thirty every morning,
- 42:36Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying.
- 42:37Speaker 5: So, now, do you have a studio in your house?
- 42:39Speaker 2: No?
- 42:40Speaker 1: I try not to.
- 42:41Speaker 2: I don't I don't have. I don't play the radio
- 42:43Speaker 2: at home literally because my choice of you. I don't
- 42:47Speaker 2: want my son to end up picking up the room stuff.
- 42:50Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. Even though I make that
- 42:52Speaker 2: kind of music, I don't. And if I do listen
- 42:54Speaker 2: to music at the house, it's alternative music.
- 42:57Speaker 5: So how did the Glorilla remix come about when you
- 43:00Speaker 5: got on that?
- 43:01Speaker 3: Because you brought that raspy voice back.
- 43:04Speaker 2: Man.
- 43:05Speaker 1: You know what, when I be walking, I heard Gloilla
- 43:10Speaker 1: rip the beat so bad and.
- 43:11Speaker 2: It was a good way.
- 43:13Speaker 1: I mean, she killed it in a good way. Yeah.
- 43:15Speaker 2: Yeah, So it was inspiring, you know, you know some
- 43:18Speaker 2: some stuff she was saying about about you know, quit thinking,
- 43:21Speaker 2: quit overthinking, and you running circles around these people.
- 43:24Speaker 1: I'm like, get them glow, you know what I'm.
- 43:25Speaker 2: Saying, And just just how you know, just to hear
- 43:29Speaker 2: the young generation and just to hear it, hear in
- 43:31Speaker 2: her voice like she was commanding the beat, and I
- 43:34Speaker 2: was like, I can command that beat like that, you
- 43:37Speaker 2: know what I'm saying. So and then and I just
- 43:39Speaker 2: found myself saying, yeah, drove all the time. And then
- 43:42Speaker 2: and then dude looking at me, was like, you did it?
- 43:44Speaker 2: I was like, Nah, I ain't did it. I was like,
- 43:47Speaker 2: you know what, Big Jon was like, go ahead and
- 43:49Speaker 2: do it. I was like, I'm gonna do it.
- 43:51Speaker 1: John, have a big jump.
- 43:53Speaker 4: Man.
- 43:53Speaker 1: Now how much you think over the years you spent
- 43:55Speaker 1: on polo, man, it's.
- 43:58Speaker 2: Over a million, over a million, because, like I used
- 44:02Speaker 2: to have to be some serious you have some stuff
- 44:05Speaker 2: I've never seen before. It was a serious sickness with that.
- 44:09Speaker 5: Have you a deal yet?
- 44:10Speaker 1: Nah?
- 44:10Speaker 2: I mean I actually was up for it, and then
- 44:13Speaker 2: I got into some trouble and stuff, you know, and
- 44:15Speaker 2: I think, you know, everything is you know what I'm saying.
- 44:19Speaker 6: You know not Ralph Laurydy got to call you a
- 44:22Speaker 6: million dollars in polo. It's crazy, man. Listen in the
- 44:28Speaker 6: first little section of my life. You know what I'm saying.
- 44:33Speaker 6: I want to say, when it was starting out, I
- 44:35Speaker 6: had just did like quarter of it, you know what
- 44:37Speaker 6: I'm saying, A quarter of me. I want to say,
- 44:39Speaker 6: it's well over that. You know what I'm saying. One
- 44:41Speaker 6: hundred thousand on Ralph is easy?
- 44:43Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
- 44:44Speaker 1: Two hundred thousand is easy.
- 44:46Speaker 4: You were wearing the most expensive so I used to
- 44:48Speaker 4: I remember walking into basis at the ball, whatever the
- 44:51Speaker 4: ball it was, and like that.
- 44:52Speaker 3: Stuff wasn't special. Like that jacket right there, Bro, I
- 44:54Speaker 3: know that, ain't you know what I'm saying, it's out
- 44:58Speaker 3: out jacket. Oh my god, Conor Rod over its side.
- 45:01Speaker 6: I'm gonna say this. You influenced a lot of people
- 45:05Speaker 6: in the culture to wear polo.
- 45:07Speaker 3: Them Polo boots, and I was Atlanta was wearing Polo boots.
- 45:10Speaker 6: And I'll never forget I say the money I saved
- 45:13Speaker 6: them like two paychecks. I was working at Route twenty
- 45:15Speaker 6: one and I bought some Polo because you have.
- 45:18Speaker 2: The numb I definitely you know. The no ones went up, man,
- 45:21Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying, Dude, you used to be
- 45:23Speaker 2: telling that I'm just like Droe instead of saying the brand.
- 45:26Speaker 4: You know what, I went to Marshalls and would get
- 45:28Speaker 4: the Polos when they was thirty nine out of his side.
- 45:32Speaker 3: I got to know what I'm talking about, Bro.
- 45:33Speaker 4: I used to go to Marshalls and or I will
