- 0:04Speaker 1: Welcome, moms. Welcome to the Mom's Club. I'm Monica, Samuel
- 0:08Speaker 1: is your host, and I'm here with my lovely co host,
- 0:11Speaker 1: Julie Orchid.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Hi Monica, Hi Julie.
- 0:14Speaker 1: I am so excited. You know, this show is pretty
- 0:17Speaker 1: special to us because our guest, we have a very
- 0:20Speaker 1: special guest we do.
- 0:22Speaker 2: We have a guest that you know, treat is our own.
- 0:26Speaker 3: You know.
- 0:26Speaker 1: Well, that's what that takes me back to why the
- 0:29Speaker 1: Mom's Club to start out.
- 0:30Speaker 2: With totally we love this story.
- 0:33Speaker 1: We are a group of five moms. We started out
- 0:37Speaker 1: as close, close friends, and that's what so many of
- 0:39Speaker 1: you moms have out there. You have these close, tight
- 0:42Speaker 1: friendships that you're there for each other for everything. And
- 0:46Speaker 1: so our kids went to school together, graduated in twenty twenty,
- 0:49Speaker 1: which was rough, which was rough, and they moved. They've
- 0:53Speaker 1: done great, as we shall suit and see by yeah
- 0:56Speaker 1: when we're about to meet, but we're always we've traveled together.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Since that time, we become like truly lifelong.
- 1:03Speaker 2: We've done everything together.
- 1:04Speaker 4: There's been you know, some illnesses, you know, there's been
- 1:07Speaker 4: some surgeries, there's been some a divorce. You know, these
- 1:11Speaker 4: are a lot of things that you know women need
- 1:14Speaker 4: women for as friendships and groups. We've learned a lot
- 1:17Speaker 4: about each other when we travel together. We learn yeah,
- 1:21Speaker 4: who needs what? Who's snarky?
- 1:24Speaker 1: Who?
- 1:24Speaker 2: Yeah? Like all of these things that friendships.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Who the good drivers are the good? Bad drivers?
- 1:29Speaker 2: Are not mentioning any.
- 1:31Speaker 1: Name names because I'm the bad driver, but anyway, not
- 1:35Speaker 1: a bad but no, it's a supportive that's the thing.
- 1:39Speaker 1: The Mom's Club is all about your friendships and supporting
- 1:43Speaker 1: each other, and women have that and guys don't have those.
- 1:46Speaker 5: Listen.
- 1:46Speaker 4: I've always had a really strong group of friends. I'll
- 1:49Speaker 4: say that I went I was lucky enough to go
- 1:52Speaker 4: to a college where I still talk to those people
- 1:55Speaker 4: every day, happy to say my youngest is started there.
- 1:58Speaker 2: But I will also say that our group.
- 2:02Speaker 4: We really really needed each other, and I would not
- 2:05Speaker 4: be the same person I am without you guys for sure,
- 2:10Speaker 4: Like it was really do or die these past five
- 2:13Speaker 4: years with you know you guys and my friends. So
- 2:16Speaker 4: I mean that really touches my heart. And I think
- 2:18Speaker 4: that you know, you need a group of friends that
- 2:21Speaker 4: you can talk to every day if you need to,
- 2:23Speaker 4: or that you need to cry with, or you need
- 2:26Speaker 4: to laugh with, or you know.
- 2:28Speaker 2: It's it's critical.
- 2:29Speaker 4: It's critical, and you don't really know it sometimes until
- 2:32Speaker 4: something happens that's hefty.
- 2:35Speaker 1: Yeah, and we've had our hefty moments.
- 2:37Speaker 4: Yeah, I feel like I'm leading the hefty moment lead.
- 2:40Speaker 4: I'd like someone else to do.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Keeping score on that. Yeah, we have one person in
- 2:44Speaker 1: or our group. He seemed everything goes great for her,
- 2:45Speaker 1: So she's our example. That would not be me, but no,
- 2:50Speaker 1: it's it's yeah, and that's what all all of you
- 2:52Speaker 1: moms who are out there who are listening, that you
- 2:55Speaker 1: all have that too in your life. I'm sure and
- 2:57Speaker 1: if you don't, I'm sure that you're going to meet
- 2:59Speaker 1: that group of women who will be your lifelong friends.
- 3:02Speaker 1: My mom had a group called the Bridge Club.
- 3:05Speaker 2: They played bridge bridge one time, one time, Yeah.
- 3:08Speaker 1: And they never did again. But they were together through everything.
- 3:12Speaker 1: And my mom, as of last October, the last survivor.
- 3:17Speaker 2: Oh yeah of her.
- 3:18Speaker 4: Yeah, but that's a really good like a sign of
- 3:21Speaker 4: long friendships. So yeah, my kids used to make fun
- 3:23Speaker 4: of me because I'd be like, I'm going to book
- 3:25Speaker 4: club tonight.
- 3:25Speaker 2: They're like, yeah, we know all about book club. What
- 3:28Speaker 2: are you reading? I don't know, but we're going to
- 3:31Speaker 2: book club tonight.
- 3:32Speaker 1: Read people read the book. Well, you know one person
- 3:36Speaker 1: who reads the book. Yeah, yeah, I actually did read.
- 3:39Speaker 1: I did read the last book.
- 3:40Speaker 2: I listened to the last book.
- 3:43Speaker 1: I know you did, and you kept telling me, I'm
- 3:45Speaker 1: listening to it. I keep falling asleep.
- 3:47Speaker 2: I never said that.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Well, the other great thing about the support that moms
- 3:53Speaker 1: give each other is that we can help each other
- 3:55Speaker 1: understand things that we may not understand because the world
- 3:58Speaker 1: is changing so fast, and so one of the things
- 4:01Speaker 1: that is changing is I'm learning a lot about dating.
- 4:08Speaker 1: You have two sons, and I don't quite understand how
- 4:10Speaker 1: the dating scene works for this new generation.
- 4:14Speaker 2: So I mean, I'm sure they've tried to explain it to.
- 4:16Speaker 1: The other night. For example, so my husband I went
- 4:19Speaker 1: to dinner at this restaurant and the boys, my son
- 4:22Speaker 1: and his friend were there, and they said, oh, yes,
- 4:24Speaker 1: our friend so and so he asked his girlfriend to
- 4:28Speaker 1: be official at this restaurant. It was they were talking
- 4:31Speaker 1: about how they helped plan it and the whole thing,
- 4:33Speaker 1: and I said, okay, explain to me the trajectory.
- 4:38Speaker 2: Explained to me the stage of dating.
- 4:41Speaker 1: Well, there's meeting them. I forgot what they called that
- 4:44Speaker 1: there's hooking up, which I didn't want to hear about.
- 4:47Speaker 2: Didn't you use the term hooking up? What they used
- 4:51Speaker 2: a different word?
- 4:51Speaker 1: Yeah, I forgot what they said exclusive. And then there's
- 4:58Speaker 1: this moment where you have a restaurant meeting and you
- 5:02Speaker 1: officially ask for this girl to be your girlfriend.
- 5:06Speaker 4: And so then, so what's the difference between Well, I
- 5:09Speaker 4: said exclusive, and yeah, I said, I said what girlfriend?
- 5:14Speaker 1: Between the exclusive and officially girlfriend boyfriend? And the boys
- 5:20Speaker 1: didn't know. They said, oh, I don't know what now
- 5:23Speaker 1: that I stumped them, But then we asked them one
- 5:25Speaker 1: yesterday and they said, oh, no, the difference when your
- 5:27Speaker 1: boyfriend girlfriend you officially ask it means that you're going
- 5:32Speaker 1: to introduce them to your parents.
- 5:35Speaker 4: And I had to question question because.
- 5:40Speaker 1: My son spent a week's vacation at this girl's house
- 5:44Speaker 1: and met her parents and spent a week with them,
- 5:47Speaker 1: and I still was not allowed to call that girl
- 5:49Speaker 1: his girlfriend because oh my gosh.
- 5:50Speaker 2: Well he didn't have the dinner, he didn't have the dinner,
- 5:53Speaker 2: and ask, yeah, just that.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Was happening when I hadn't even know there's not been official.
- 5:58Speaker 2: You got Jeff Monica, I did.
- 6:00Speaker 1: So I'm still confused, and this is my point. And
- 6:04Speaker 1: so that is why we are so excited today to
- 6:06Speaker 1: have a true expert in this field that she is.
- 6:11Speaker 1: But not only an expert, but the daughter of one
- 6:13Speaker 1: of our friends that we described earlier, and we'll meet
- 6:17Speaker 1: her later.
- 6:17Speaker 4: Well, she's not only the daughter, but she is an accomplished,
- 6:21Speaker 4: accomplished CEO.
- 6:24Speaker 1: Well, just let me give her.
- 6:25Speaker 2: I'm sorry, I got real excited my own.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Proper do here. She is the CEO and co founder
- 6:32Speaker 1: of Distill, which is a next generation dating app that
- 6:36Speaker 1: uses AI technology to bring efficiency, transparency, and intentionality back
- 6:41Speaker 1: to modern dating apps.
- 6:43Speaker 2: She's started in the.
- 6:44Speaker 1: Company as a senior at Dartmouth in twenty twenty four
- 6:48Speaker 1: and recently launched a beta version of this app in
- 6:52Speaker 1: New York City. Please welcome, Sydney Marsh. Welcome to the
- 6:56Speaker 1: Mom's Book. Well, Sydney, okay, so.
- 7:04Speaker 2: How about that introduction?
- 7:06Speaker 1: You like?
- 7:06Speaker 6: That?
- 7:06Speaker 1: Was that a good introduction?
- 7:07Speaker 2: That was perfect?
- 7:09Speaker 1: Good? Thank you? Well, yeah, so, Sydney, we you're the expert.
- 7:14Speaker 1: And we know you're the expert because you've explained a
- 7:17Speaker 1: lot of this to us. I've we had many meetings
- 7:19Speaker 1: to discuss this.
- 7:21Speaker 2: Huh.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Yeah, I didn't even Yeah, occasionally I was thinking to myself,
- 7:25Speaker 1: I have no idea what she's talking about, but I
- 7:28Speaker 1: was like, I kind of got it. So we're gonna
- 7:30Speaker 1: take it for all these moms like me out there
- 7:32Speaker 1: who aren't so tech savvy to understand. But this has
- 7:36Speaker 1: an AI artificial intelligence for you moms out there who
- 7:41Speaker 1: don't have any clue what's going on in the world
- 7:42Speaker 1: right now. It has that component which is a brand
- 7:47Speaker 1: new thing that's happening everywhere, and it's what makes Distill
- 7:52Speaker 1: different and exceptional. So can you explain, first of all,
- 7:56Speaker 1: what is Distill? Explain to someone who's a mom who
- 8:01Speaker 1: just woke up in this century and wants to know
- 8:04Speaker 1: what's going on here with this dating thing?
- 8:06Speaker 2: Yeah, keep it. Keep it like breakfast round table. Like
- 8:10Speaker 2: if I'm asking you how your date was last night?
- 8:13Speaker 2: You know, Okay, go ahead.
- 8:14Speaker 7: Huney, I can do that.
- 8:15Speaker 8: But yeah, So what I'm so excited about to still
- 8:18Speaker 8: is we're trying to have an entirely new paradigm for
- 8:21Speaker 8: online dating. So all these apps you've heard about, Tinder,
- 8:24Speaker 8: bumble hinge et cetera.
- 8:26Speaker 7: Are all based off a swhite based paradigm and what
- 8:29Speaker 7: I mean by that is you see a.
- 8:30Speaker 8: Bunch of options, you're spending less than a minute is
- 8:33Speaker 8: the average, looking at each profile, and you're making snap
- 8:36Speaker 8: decisions mostly based.
- 8:37Speaker 7: On how attractive they are.
- 8:38Speaker 8: Like, let's be honest, we think that that's super psychologically unhealthy.
- 8:42Speaker 8: It teaches you to commoditize people, and it's a massive
- 8:44Speaker 8: time waster. I mean, the average is people are spending
- 8:47Speaker 8: an hour days wipe thing. So when you're I mean, frankly,
- 8:49Speaker 8: a lot of my friends are investment bankers in New
- 8:51Speaker 8: York and just don't have the time to do that.
- 8:53Speaker 7: They're working eighty hundred hours a week.
- 8:55Speaker 8: So you think there is not only a better way
- 8:57Speaker 8: emotionally and psychologically, but also just to be efficient, like
- 9:01Speaker 8: you should spend your time resting or going to the
- 9:04Speaker 8: gym and working out, or connecting with friends.
- 9:05Speaker 7: Are you know Lo and Behold actually go on a date.
- 9:08Speaker 8: So what we're trying to do is basically democratize this
- 9:11Speaker 8: amazing thing which is matchmaking. And matchmaking has been around forever.
- 9:15Speaker 8: I'm sure you've heard people talk about the new Indian
- 9:17Speaker 8: Matchmaker Show or all of these things that are coming
- 9:20Speaker 8: out today. But what's great is that AI actually makes matchmaking,
- 9:25Speaker 8: which is typically a service that you have to pay
- 9:27Speaker 8: for and cost thousands, if not tens of thousands, up
- 9:30Speaker 8: to one hundred thousand dollars, and it's typically something people
- 9:32Speaker 8: would only do in America at least when they're much older,
- 9:36Speaker 8: like in their forties fifty sixties. We're bringing that downstream
- 9:39Speaker 8: to people in their twenties and thirties, and because of AI,
- 9:42Speaker 8: this can actually be an.
- 9:43Speaker 7: Affordable service that everyone can use.
- 9:45Speaker 8: So by you go on you onboard and you train
- 9:49Speaker 8: your personal AI agent about your personality and preferences, that
- 9:53Speaker 8: agent goes out and sources and vets matches for you,
- 9:55Speaker 8: which completely eliminates.
- 9:56Speaker 7: The need to swipe.
- 9:57Speaker 8: And instead of just doing that, it also so it
- 10:00Speaker 8: gives you the full agent to agent transcripts, So that
- 10:02Speaker 8: means your agent is talking to someone else's personalized trained agent.
- 10:05Speaker 8: So just think of it as their personal matchmaker who
- 10:08Speaker 8: their only job is to represent your interests.
- 10:10Speaker 7: You can see the conversation between those two people.
- 10:12Speaker 8: Imagine your two best friends talking to each other saying
- 10:15Speaker 8: I think that person A and person HY.
- 10:17Speaker 7: Are great because of this, and you can see all
- 10:19Speaker 7: of that.
- 10:19Speaker 8: So it's one hundred percent transparency as to why this
- 10:21Speaker 8: one was or wasn't a recommendation.
- 10:23Speaker 7: So that's the high level.
- 10:25Speaker 2: Allah, yeah, that's perfect.
- 10:27Speaker 4: But when you say vetting, like are you talking like
- 10:29Speaker 4: how deep does it go? As far as your personality?
- 10:33Speaker 4: Like what you're like, what you don't like, are you religious?
- 10:36Speaker 4: Are you you know? All these things that people like
- 10:39Speaker 4: run through the gamut of why you wouldn't like somebody
- 10:43Speaker 4: or you would absolutely.
- 10:45Speaker 8: So what's so great is you can kind of make
- 10:47Speaker 8: the experiences personal and deep levels you want it to be.
- 10:49Speaker 8: Of course, sure, we have the basic level questions you
- 10:51Speaker 8: have to ask us, like what's your religious background, what's your.
- 10:55Speaker 7: Age, where are you from?
- 10:56Speaker 8: Things like that, But if you want to get very granular,
- 10:58Speaker 8: you want to say I want some and that wakes
- 11:00Speaker 8: up between seven and nine am. Like your agent can
- 11:03Speaker 8: vet based off of that preference. So the more information
- 11:06Speaker 8: you give us about what you like yourself and what
- 11:09Speaker 8: you hope to have in a partner, the more deeply
- 11:11Speaker 8: your agent can vet someone. So some common things we
- 11:13Speaker 8: see in the agent agent conversations are what's their communication style,
- 11:18Speaker 8: what's their future plans? Like, how do they view gender
- 11:20Speaker 8: roles in a marriage? Things like that so your agent
- 11:23Speaker 8: can really dive so much deeper than you ever could
- 11:25Speaker 8: on any other swipe based app.
- 11:27Speaker 1: So when I first heard about this, I said, so
- 11:29Speaker 1: someday I'm going to go to someone's wedding and I'm
- 11:32Speaker 1: gonna say, how'd you two meet? And it's like, well,
- 11:35Speaker 1: our my AI agent met his and at all often, Yeah,
- 11:40Speaker 1: that's how this thing. They Yeah, it's but that's the
- 11:43Speaker 1: new world that we're in.
- 11:44Speaker 4: So well, I love this because we're learning as moms,
- 11:47Speaker 4: we're evolving and like how this happens for you guys.
- 11:50Speaker 4: And you know what's so popular about online dating because
- 11:53Speaker 4: we didn't really have that, Like I didn't get to
- 11:55Speaker 4: put in that I wanted to date somebody who's six
- 11:57Speaker 4: to two, you know.
- 11:58Speaker 2: What I mean? Or you know what I mean.
- 12:01Speaker 4: All these things that you like start out on the
- 12:03Speaker 4: regular app and then you move to this, So this
- 12:05Speaker 4: is even more personal about how it is. I mean,
- 12:08Speaker 4: we don't have to arrange marriages anymore.
- 12:11Speaker 1: We don't have to, well we kind of want to, well,
- 12:14Speaker 1: you know, and that's the city can help with that.
- 12:16Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:17Speaker 4: So anyway, but I'm just saying, like, in general, tell
- 12:22Speaker 4: us some stories about distill and you know.
- 12:25Speaker 1: You've started this beta test. I mean, have you had
- 12:27Speaker 1: some successes? Have you seen some matches here?
- 12:31Speaker 7: Absolutely?
- 12:31Speaker 8: And one of the stories I love to tell is
- 12:34Speaker 8: related to this person. No i'll leave out his last name,
- 12:37Speaker 8: but he's okay with me sharing the story.
- 12:39Speaker 7: So one of our great.
- 12:40Speaker 8: Beta testers, a great guy in the city I know
- 12:42Speaker 8: him personally, got on the app. And something I should
- 12:44Speaker 8: mention is, because it's all AI and your AI is
- 12:47Speaker 8: going to continue to get better and learn with you,
- 12:49Speaker 8: it's not gonna be perfect the first time because we
- 12:51Speaker 8: don't have a perfect understanding what we want the first
- 12:53Speaker 8: time either.
- 12:54Speaker 7: I mean, it's very.
- 12:54Speaker 8: Easy for me to rattle off, oh yeah, build a
- 12:56Speaker 8: dream guy like this is what I want, but that's
- 12:58Speaker 8: not actually reflective of my t through preferences. So your
- 13:01Speaker 8: AI is going to learn along the way and get
- 13:04Speaker 8: refined and better with times. So the reason for that
- 13:09Speaker 8: is we have some good fits, which are people that
- 13:11Speaker 8: your AI agent thinks are within your stated preferences, and
- 13:14Speaker 8: then some not a good fits, which are people that
- 13:16Speaker 8: are slightly outside.
- 13:17Speaker 7: Of those preferences. And what we've found is it's.
- 13:19Speaker 8: Really helpful to show people both so you can kind
- 13:22Speaker 8: of get an understanding of oh, this is what my
- 13:23Speaker 8: agent actually thinks I want. Let's think about if that's
- 13:26Speaker 8: actually the case. So an example of this is Noah,
- 13:29Speaker 8: he sees this girl she's in is not a good
- 13:31Speaker 8: fits and he takes a very quick glance at her
- 13:33Speaker 8: profile and goes, I don't she's beautiful, she's the right age,
- 13:37Speaker 8: she's in the right location, she's got a great job.
- 13:39Speaker 7: Why is this not a good fit? I would like
- 13:41Speaker 7: to meet her?
- 13:41Speaker 8: So he goes into the agent agent conversation and actually
- 13:45Speaker 8: realizes that is agent uncovered that she's an extreme homebody
- 13:48Speaker 8: and he's actually quite extroverted and likes to go out
- 13:50Speaker 8: quite a bit.
- 13:51Speaker 7: And he's like, that's not something I don't I would
- 13:53Speaker 7: have figured out until like the.
- 13:54Speaker 8: Second or third date. And at that point that's like
- 13:57Speaker 8: eight hours of my time. Maybe if these dates are
- 13:59Speaker 8: generally going well, that's hundreds of dollars, it's one hundreds.
- 14:03Speaker 2: Of dollars later, so these.
- 14:05Speaker 1: Days especially, Yeah, yeah, that's interesting.
- 14:07Speaker 8: So he's like, I'm so glad I know this because
- 14:10Speaker 8: I shouldn't go on a date with this groll. Maybe
- 14:12Speaker 8: we'd be great friends, but this isn't what I'm looking
- 14:14Speaker 8: for In a long term partner. And when you have
- 14:16Speaker 8: that intentional mindset of I only want to go on
- 14:18Speaker 8: a date with someone that I want to continue dating
- 14:21Speaker 8: and see long term, that just helps truly distill the
- 14:24Speaker 8: dating pool. You're not willing to go on a date
- 14:25Speaker 8: with everyone. You're wanting to go on a date with
- 14:27Speaker 8: just amazing, high quality fits for you.
- 14:29Speaker 1: So when you showed us the beta, so when you
- 14:32Speaker 1: showed us how it works. By going through with us,
- 14:35Speaker 1: you created your own profile. So you put yourself into
- 14:39Speaker 1: this world and it gave you people that you mashed with,
- 14:42Speaker 1: and it gave you people you didn't. Now you as
- 14:45Speaker 1: the founder, the CEO, you can look through that and
- 14:48Speaker 1: did you make any adjustments, like you know because some
- 14:50Speaker 1: of the guys you know, some of them you don't,
- 14:52Speaker 1: the ones you actually know. Did you say, okay, that
- 14:56Speaker 1: that's not really driving with what I really know, So
- 14:59Speaker 1: maybe we need to refined because you said it's learning.
- 15:02Speaker 1: So did you make changes based on your own personal
- 15:05Speaker 1: experience with this or what have you learned from being
- 15:08Speaker 1: part of the distillery?
- 15:10Speaker 8: I guess I think the biggest thing we've learned so
- 15:13Speaker 8: far in the beta is how can we ask people questions?
- 15:16Speaker 7: That get them to reveal specifics about what they want.
- 15:19Speaker 8: It's so easy to say, oh, yeah, I want someone
- 15:21Speaker 8: who's fun and good looking and like to have a
- 15:24Speaker 8: good time, Like that's great, doesn't really tell us that
- 15:27Speaker 8: much about you.
- 15:27Speaker 7: We want to.
- 15:28Speaker 8: Prompt people to say very specific things like I really
- 15:31Speaker 8: want someone who speaks a second language and would be
- 15:33Speaker 8: interested in teaching me that second language. Like we want
- 15:36Speaker 8: people to reveal specifics about them because on a Swite
- 15:39Speaker 8: based platform, the goals to kind of make yourself is
- 15:42Speaker 8: generalizably appealing to as many people as possible because you
- 15:46Speaker 8: want as many matches as possible. That's not how Distill works.
- 15:49Speaker 8: We want you to be authentically yourself and you shouldn't
- 15:51Speaker 8: match with hundreds of people at a time because people
- 15:55Speaker 8: don't like you. Should only have a couple of good
- 15:57Speaker 8: fits that are very highly tailored to you. So that's
- 16:00Speaker 8: kind of what we've been working on with the beta
- 16:02Speaker 8: is like, how do we get the right questions out
- 16:04Speaker 8: of people, how do we get people talking, how do
- 16:07Speaker 8: we learn and a big thing, I'll say the transition
- 16:09Speaker 8: from the beta to we're going to have a full
- 16:12Speaker 8: scale app that will be launched in the beginning of
- 16:14Speaker 8: twenty twenty six is the beta is just typing out survey.
- 16:21Speaker 7: We're going to use voice AI.
- 16:23Speaker 8: Actually it's in our onboarding process with a native app.
- 16:25Speaker 8: This means we can get people talking, we can figure
- 16:28Speaker 8: out where their voice gets excited and high pitched and like, Okay,
- 16:31Speaker 8: she really cares about family values because that's what she
- 16:33Speaker 8: started talking about. We're going to ask a questions about
- 16:36Speaker 8: that and use branch and technology to kind of follow
- 16:39Speaker 8: up on that.
- 16:40Speaker 4: I mean, it's no secret that people like if I
- 16:44Speaker 4: was going to go on a dating app, I'd probably
- 16:46Speaker 4: have Monica write it.
- 16:48Speaker 1: I'm a good writer and she's a really good.
- 16:50Speaker 4: Writer, and then I'd go out at that date and
- 16:52Speaker 4: I'd be like it said what Yeah, So I mean
- 16:54Speaker 4: this is good that the voice activated things like that
- 16:57Speaker 4: because you make it really genuine and that's what I love.
- 17:00Speaker 4: Like you, like you said, you don't want twenty or
- 17:02Speaker 4: thirty people, you want the quality of three people.
- 17:06Speaker 2: Yeah, we talked yesterday a little bit. Are where are
- 17:09Speaker 2: you are you bringing.
- 17:10Speaker 4: In more information about these people? I mean, do you
- 17:13Speaker 4: go to social media or how is it? Is it
- 17:15Speaker 4: intertwined or to make it more person.
- 17:18Speaker 1: Besides what they're saying about themselves, because they can say
- 17:20Speaker 1: almost anything about themselves.
- 17:22Speaker 4: I mean, I'm sure Monica you got a glowing yes,
- 17:24Speaker 4: I would, oh my gosh, you'd be very so desirable.
- 17:30Speaker 1: Yes.
- 17:31Speaker 7: Well.
- 17:31Speaker 8: One of the big ways that we can kind of
- 17:32Speaker 8: verify if people are representing themselves accurately is, of course,
- 17:36Speaker 8: we have AI analysis of the photos you submit, so
- 17:39Speaker 8: like the three.
- 17:40Speaker 7: To five photos that you give to us.
- 17:42Speaker 8: Also, you can choose to upload screenshots of your Instagram
- 17:45Speaker 8: page or another social media page that you think represents you.
- 17:48Speaker 8: So that's kind of a way that we can kind
- 17:50Speaker 8: of match up your personalities. Like, for example, if I'm
- 17:52Speaker 8: super loud and boisterous in all my photos and I
- 17:54Speaker 8: describe myself as this quiet, timid little mouse, like my
- 17:58Speaker 8: AA agent's going to maybe yeah. An example of this
- 18:02Speaker 8: is my co founder, Like when we were initially doing
- 18:05Speaker 8: our testing before we had users, he made a profile
- 18:08Speaker 8: and was trying to present himself as a single person
- 18:10Speaker 8: he's been married for a while, using younger photos of
- 18:13Speaker 8: himself with his then girlfriend who's now his wife, and
- 18:16Speaker 8: his AI agent was like, I think you're dating someone.
- 18:19Speaker 7: Why why is there all these pros like maybe maybe
- 18:22Speaker 7: you shouldn't be on this platform.
- 18:24Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, exactly, there's going to be some of those
- 18:27Speaker 4: wild we can out there.
- 18:32Speaker 1: Nothing nothing is perfect, right, so and well I feel
- 18:36Speaker 1: like we can share this too. So you you have
- 18:39Speaker 1: a boyfriend that you met at the gym, So there's
- 18:41Speaker 1: the old fashioned way of doing this. So how do
- 18:44Speaker 1: you compare the old fashion way and what do you
- 18:46Speaker 1: believe the difference between If I'm advising my son, you know,
- 18:51Speaker 1: you should still go, you should join the running club,
- 18:52Speaker 1: you should do this, or hey, you should get on there.
- 18:55Speaker 1: Just still and maybe that's the way you can find
- 18:58Speaker 1: a match that's most perfect for you. Won't spend so
- 19:00Speaker 1: much time with this girl you think loves to run,
- 19:03Speaker 1: but turns out she's she really fitting for you, you
- 19:06Speaker 1: find out.
- 19:07Speaker 7: Five weeks later.
- 19:08Speaker 1: So what's your advice about that?
- 19:10Speaker 7: Absolutely not.
- 19:11Speaker 8: The first thing I'll say is I would never discourage
- 19:13Speaker 8: people from trying to reach out in real life. I
- 19:16Speaker 8: think that that's a great way to meet someone and
- 19:18Speaker 8: I love that that's the start of my story with
- 19:21Speaker 8: my now boyfriend. But yeah, I think that still is
- 19:24Speaker 8: just a great additional tool. Because there are a lot
- 19:27Speaker 8: of things and just for example, social media in general,
- 19:30Speaker 8: has made people unfortunately more intolerant to in person rejection
- 19:34Speaker 8: because it's so easy to tell online kind of get
- 19:36Speaker 8: a vibe for someone.
- 19:37Speaker 7: Is or isn't into you, versus if you're cold approaching.
- 19:39Speaker 8: Someone, it's either a flat yes or a flat no,
- 19:41Speaker 8: and you don't really know where it's going to go.
- 19:43Speaker 7: So people are being increasingly like I think.
- 19:46Speaker 8: There's a stat I saw from Date Psychology saying forty
- 19:50Speaker 8: five percent of men that are eighteen to twenty five
- 19:53Speaker 8: have never approached a woman before.
- 19:54Speaker 7: I think that's a shame.
- 19:56Speaker 8: I think people should approach people, but that's unfortunately the reality.
- 20:00Speaker 8: So we want to give people more tools available to
- 20:03Speaker 8: them so they have more opportunities to meet great people.
- 20:05Speaker 2: That's amazing. I'm loving this. I feel like I think
- 20:09Speaker 2: it's good.
- 20:10Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 20:10Speaker 1: Should should women who have a current boyfriend just fast
- 20:15Speaker 1: track it and say, hey, you need to get on distill.
- 20:18Speaker 1: I need to make you know do we match up?
- 20:20Speaker 2: Oh?
- 20:21Speaker 1: Like it would be a way to figure we really
- 20:23Speaker 1: we are a good fit or maybe oops, we should
- 20:26Speaker 1: think about this.
- 20:27Speaker 2: Possibly. I don't have a future like.
- 20:29Speaker 1: Sect and act to this where people can just check out,
- 20:33Speaker 1: you know who they're dating and say like, let's all
- 20:35Speaker 1: put our stuff, let's just match ourselves.
- 20:37Speaker 4: I think she's just trying to quality match some good pupils.
- 20:41Speaker 5: I want to.
- 20:42Speaker 1: Totally quality match. So I'm just saying, if this is good,
- 20:44Speaker 1: think about it.
- 20:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I could just say this.
- 20:46Speaker 1: Is my perfect match. This is a better match than
- 20:48Speaker 1: if I kept.
- 20:49Speaker 8: You know, we're certainly not building a platform that's aimed
- 20:53Speaker 8: to break up current couples, right.
- 20:54Speaker 1: Oh well I wouldn't. We hope that wouldn't happen. But
- 20:57Speaker 1: I mean, but if you save some marriages, you know,
- 21:00Speaker 1: that's another one.
- 21:01Speaker 7: So I will say I'll say this one thing.
- 21:03Speaker 8: There was someone that's on the platform that I dated briefly,
- 21:07Speaker 8: and my AA agent called out one.
- 21:09Speaker 7: Or two reasons why it didn't think we were a
- 21:11Speaker 7: good fit. Those are exactly why we didn't continue.
- 21:14Speaker 1: So yeah, that's.
- 21:17Speaker 2: Out exactly exactly.
- 21:19Speaker 6: Great.
- 21:20Speaker 4: How much how much do you have to go out
- 21:23Speaker 4: and talk about to still and tell me what your day,
- 21:26Speaker 4: what your day looks like?
- 21:28Speaker 2: A absolutely?
- 21:29Speaker 7: I think every day looks so different from me. I
- 21:31Speaker 7: mean truly week by week.
- 21:32Speaker 8: Like for example, I'm booking my flight to SF for
- 21:35Speaker 8: Tech Week coming up in October, so I'll be doing
- 21:38Speaker 8: events for that. I mean, just last week I hosted
- 21:41Speaker 8: a founder funder mixer with Upfront Ventures. I'm going out
- 21:45Speaker 8: and meeting venture investors either just socially, to just build
- 21:49Speaker 8: those relationships, and very soon it's going to be truly
- 21:52Speaker 8: actually pitches, so having two or three pitches a day,
- 21:55Speaker 8: hopefully even more. But yeah, I mean, it varies so much.
- 21:58Speaker 8: I mean, tonight I'm going to an event to support
- 22:01Speaker 8: female founders, and that's also a big part of I mean,
- 22:04Speaker 8: female founders are so dear to my heart because I
- 22:06Speaker 8: am one, and also like there's so much room in
- 22:09Speaker 8: the world for where female founders can make so much
- 22:11Speaker 8: of impact, particularly with AI, because AI is going to
- 22:14Speaker 8: shape so much of the world. If women are not
- 22:17Speaker 8: at the table when those decisions about how we can
- 22:20Speaker 8: use it appropriately are made, it's going to have ripple
- 22:22Speaker 8: effects that affect everyone, including women.
- 22:25Speaker 2: I love that. I think we need to take a
- 22:27Speaker 2: class in AI.
- 22:29Speaker 1: We definitely do. I will say this about AI one day.
- 22:33Speaker 1: I put my own name in there and see what
- 22:34Speaker 1: learn about myself. It was great. It was perfect spot
- 22:38Speaker 1: one except that said I had three children.
- 22:40Speaker 9: You do.
- 22:40Speaker 1: I'm still wondering who that third one is.
- 22:42Speaker 2: I know who it is.
- 22:44Speaker 1: She has her theory, but I'm like, yeah, so it's
- 22:47Speaker 1: not perfect. Everybody should know there are some things that
- 22:50Speaker 1: it doesn't get right. And I still look at the
- 22:51Speaker 1: spots works and.
- 22:54Speaker 8: That's so important into like why we think the evolving
- 22:57Speaker 8: feedback loops. So when you're giving your answer, if you
- 23:00Speaker 8: are you aren't interested in suggested or not suggested fits,
- 23:03Speaker 8: It's going to get better because I mean I think
- 23:05Speaker 8: we're all just gonna be blown away by how good
- 23:07Speaker 8: AI becomes. Like even in a year from now, it's
- 23:10Speaker 8: going to be night and day different. So starting now
- 23:13Speaker 8: when it's still learning, so we have this amazing data
- 23:15Speaker 8: set and can create really interesting and accurate matches for everyone.
- 23:20Speaker 1: Yeah, well it's very exciting, I mean, and it's exciting
- 23:24Speaker 1: that you're a CEO at soon to be twenty four
- 23:27Speaker 1: years old. That's very impressive. Yeah, who goes to you, Sydney.
- 23:32Speaker 4: I mean this is amazing, sure, I mean, I've learned
- 23:34Speaker 4: do great things about this. This app is amazing, and
- 23:37Speaker 4: I can tell you that your pitch to this is
- 23:39Speaker 4: excellent because I have so many questions afterwards and love
- 23:44Speaker 4: to learn about it.
- 23:44Speaker 2: So all of that's positive.
- 23:46Speaker 4: I did ask you if I would be the oldest
- 23:48Speaker 4: person on your app, and you're.
- 23:52Speaker 7: Like, it's aimed for people in their twenties.
- 23:54Speaker 8: Twenties, so courage anyone if you have children and that
- 23:57Speaker 8: aing rage, should check it out exactly back.
- 24:00Speaker 2: For gat children, I know, I know, I sometimes forget.
- 24:03Speaker 1: We have some wonderful women, our zoomer moms, who I'm
- 24:07Speaker 1: sure have a lot of questions I know about this.
- 24:09Speaker 1: So welcome zoomer moms. Welcome to the moms.
- 24:12Speaker 2: Yes, okayt wait to do what we're gonna say.
- 24:14Speaker 1: All right, welcome ladies. So let's start with Kathy. Tell
- 24:24Speaker 1: us a little bit about yourself. Where are you from?
- 24:27Speaker 1: And do you have a question for Sidney?
- 24:29Speaker 5: Yeah, a million questions.
- 24:31Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 24:32Speaker 6: First of all, Sidney, my goodness, you're brilliant. I think
- 24:34Speaker 6: this is this is amazing because there's so many things
- 24:37Speaker 6: out there nowadays where they're triggering and people get angry
- 24:41Speaker 6: very easily, whether that be politics or religion or heck,
- 24:45Speaker 6: even your favorite sports team. This can avoid a lot
- 24:48Speaker 6: of those conflicts upfront, So kudos to you.
- 24:52Speaker 7: My name is Kathy Ward.
- 24:53Speaker 5: I'm from Plano, Texas.
- 24:55Speaker 6: I've got a daughter who's twenty five and a son
- 24:58Speaker 6: who's twenty one, and they're the greatest bla things in
- 25:00Speaker 6: my life. And it's you know, Monica and I've had
- 25:03Speaker 6: this conversation. It's a very different point in your life.
- 25:05Speaker 6: And you love it. Like my daughter came to me
- 25:07Speaker 6: for advice today and I'm like, oh, I love it
- 25:09Speaker 6: when my kids ask me it for advice.
- 25:11Speaker 7: You know.
- 25:12Speaker 5: But I'm a former elected official.
- 25:14Speaker 6: I'm a former special special education teacher, did radio for
- 25:19Speaker 6: about ten years here in the Dallas area, and currently
- 25:22Speaker 6: serve on a commission for the state of Texas. My
- 25:25Speaker 6: question is, do you have plans one for older people
- 25:30Speaker 6: like is down the road?
- 25:32Speaker 5: You know, especially you know unfortunately.
- 25:34Speaker 7: Divorce and I've been through a divorce before.
- 25:36Speaker 6: It's part of it's part of the reality of our world.
- 25:41Speaker 6: Do you have plans to open up that field for
- 25:45Speaker 6: people who are older, who are maybe getting into their
- 25:47Speaker 6: second marriage or sometimes third marriage. And then also, is
- 25:52Speaker 6: there a way at Monica you kind of talked about it.
- 25:55Speaker 6: I would love to go in there and plug myself
- 25:57Speaker 6: in and my husband in. Maybe can you have a
- 25:59Speaker 6: separate apps people.
- 26:00Speaker 1: Who are like I don't think that is a bad
- 26:03Speaker 1: in the beginning of your marriage.
- 26:04Speaker 6: You're like, well, I don't want to tell somebody that
- 26:06Speaker 6: I binge True Crime for twenty hours over right, So
- 26:10Speaker 6: do you all have some plans moving forward like those
- 26:13Speaker 6: with those areas?
- 26:15Speaker 8: Absolutely great questions, And to your first one, I'll say
- 26:17Speaker 8: my vision for this app in the future that we
- 26:20Speaker 8: are right now targeting people in their twenties to thirties
- 26:22Speaker 8: and urban areas, is I want to see in everything
- 26:24Speaker 8: app I want I mean AI and agentic systems. So
- 26:28Speaker 8: not just one AI agent talking to another AI agent,
- 26:30Speaker 8: but this entire system of like little busy bees that
- 26:33Speaker 8: are communicating with each other and creating a fully fleshed
- 26:35Speaker 8: out ecosystem, can learn how different relationship dynamics work. Like
- 26:40Speaker 8: maybe like a man and a woman in their fifties
- 26:42Speaker 8: post divorce don't flirt or don't aren't attracted the same
- 26:45Speaker 8: types of things as a man and a woman that
- 26:47Speaker 8: are both twenty five. Do Maybe if like, like think
- 26:50Speaker 8: about jswipe, Maybe like that is a different set of
- 26:52Speaker 8: like qualities and qualifications, and that's what we can build to.
- 26:56Speaker 8: So not just you personally, but also the types of
- 26:58Speaker 8: relationships you're seeking. So absolutely we'd love to expand into
- 27:02Speaker 8: all different relationship types and ages, races, religions, everything like that.
- 27:08Speaker 8: In addition, I think that your second question gets it's
- 27:11Speaker 8: something that's so critical. What we've really discovered about our
- 27:14Speaker 8: beta pool is people. I mean, we've always known this,
- 27:16Speaker 8: but people love learning about themselves. It's why BuzzFeed is
- 27:20Speaker 8: such a big thing. People like to know what donut
- 27:21Speaker 8: they are, Like, people just love to hear about themselves
- 27:24Speaker 8: and just that process of self discovery and that's something
- 27:26Speaker 8: that's really cool without our platforms. So when you create
- 27:29Speaker 8: a profile and distill you, actually your AI agent generates
- 27:33Speaker 8: a personality and value summary about you, and that's something
- 27:36Speaker 8: that your matches can see. And you do have the
- 27:38Speaker 8: ability to make edits if you think, for whatever reason
- 27:40Speaker 8: something wasn't wrong. But that's kind of a cool way
- 27:43Speaker 8: to learn about yourself, and it could be a great
- 27:45Speaker 8: way that your partner can learn about you, Like, oh,
- 27:48Speaker 8: I didn't realize that you love travel photography and that's
- 27:51Speaker 8: a real big passion for you and that's so represented
- 27:53Speaker 8: on your social media page or it's something that you
- 27:55Speaker 8: talk about when you talking about your favorite pastimes. So
- 27:58Speaker 8: absolutely like that self descovery aspect, not just in your
- 28:02Speaker 8: preferences for a partner, but actually yourself. And an example
- 28:05Speaker 8: for me is people always tell me you're so extrovert,
- 28:07Speaker 8: you're so extroverted, whereas I kind of consider myself like
- 28:11Speaker 8: kind of in the middle. But then I sort of
- 28:12Speaker 8: saw myself through other people's eyes and I'm like, yeah,
- 28:14Speaker 8: actually I am pretty extroverted. I guess that's true, and
- 28:17Speaker 8: just learning more about myself. So absolutely love that.
- 28:19Speaker 1: I just had a great idea, why don't we start
- 28:21Speaker 1: mom's clubs using this a I think people can actually
- 28:24Speaker 1: meet friends that We'll talk to her about that later. Yeah, Constanza,
- 28:29Speaker 1: welcome to the Mom's Club. Tell us where you're from,
- 28:33Speaker 1: a little bit about yourself and do you have a
- 28:34Speaker 1: question for Sydney.
- 28:36Speaker 10: Oh yeah, hi guys. I'm Constanza. I am from Brazil,
- 28:40Speaker 10: currently living in Miami. I am a mother to a
- 28:43Speaker 10: beautiful and healthy and wonderful and incredible eleven year old daughter.
- 28:48Speaker 10: So this is very much top of mind for me,
- 28:51Speaker 10: and my ears are fully present and I am listening
- 28:54Speaker 10: and I am worried. So my daughter is eleven, I
- 29:01Speaker 10: can't help to think, you know, sort of what the
- 29:03Speaker 10: future holds for her when she's at the right age
- 29:05Speaker 10: of dating because as we know, it's not allowed quite yet. No,
- 29:09Speaker 10: but well to still make dating fun. And I think
- 29:12Speaker 10: this could all kind of mean a lot for everyone, right,
- 29:15Speaker 10: I feel like the fun of dating kind of is
- 29:17Speaker 10: completely out of the picture as recently, I'd hear from
- 29:20Speaker 10: my friends all the time. So how will this make
- 29:22Speaker 10: it more fun and exciting for it?
- 29:24Speaker 2: Good question, Dad?
- 29:25Speaker 7: Like absolutely.
- 29:26Speaker 8: And one of the big things I hear when I
- 29:28Speaker 8: ask people about their dating experience is, particularly people that
- 29:31Speaker 8: have a big online presence and have tried these apps,
- 29:33Speaker 8: is dating feels like a second job. Like I said,
- 29:35Speaker 8: you're swiping for an hour a day, You're going on
- 29:37Speaker 8: a bunch of first dates that don't lead to a
- 29:39Speaker 8: second It's exhausting, and people are having burnout. I mean
- 29:42Speaker 8: I recently read an article called people are taking situationships sabbaticals,
- 29:46Speaker 8: Like people can't even deal with situationships which aren't even
- 29:49Speaker 8: exclusive or with her girlfriend. It's like the first stage.
- 29:52Speaker 7: So like, that's the.
- 29:54Speaker 8: Level of burnout people are experiencing on these platforms, and
- 29:57Speaker 8: it's completely what we're trying to undo.
- 29:58Speaker 7: And having your agent basically.
- 30:01Speaker 8: Do the filtration process for you, which eliminates this massive
- 30:04Speaker 8: labor on your part should take make it more fun.
- 30:07Speaker 8: Like all you get to do is focus on the
- 30:09Speaker 8: actual connection element, not the filtration and the search element.
- 30:12Speaker 7: That shouldn't be your job anymore. That's what AI is
- 30:14Speaker 7: so great.
- 30:14Speaker 8: At another thing I'll mention for your daughter and just
- 30:17Speaker 8: for moms of girls everywhere, is we're taking a different
- 30:21Speaker 8: approach to what are the values that we're putting forward
- 30:24Speaker 8: on our apps. So when I mean my co founder
- 30:27Speaker 8: is a PhD in psychology, he was my psychology professor
- 30:30Speaker 8: at Dartmouth, And something he chatts about a lot is
- 30:32Speaker 8: like the different priorities for men and women, Like right
- 30:35Speaker 8: off the bat is men the number one thing they're
- 30:37Speaker 8: looking for is physical attractness. Women number one through five
- 30:42Speaker 8: things are looking for are honesty, reliability, safety, and security.
- 30:46Speaker 8: Things like this dating apps on this swipe based paradigm
- 30:50Speaker 8: have never highlighted those elements. Those are buried like maybe
- 30:53Speaker 8: you can infer like oh he seems nice in the photos,
- 30:56Speaker 8: but you don't really know, but us putting personality and
- 30:59Speaker 8: value reports and then this agentic conversation where you can
- 31:02Speaker 8: see like oh, here's his communication style and here's where
- 31:05Speaker 8: he talks about his family and friends and how important
- 31:08Speaker 8: that is to him. Like it's putting forward the things
- 31:10Speaker 8: that women really care about and putting that in the spotlight,
- 31:13Speaker 8: which has never really been the case for dating apps.
- 31:15Speaker 7: So that's something I'm again as a female founder. I'm
- 31:17Speaker 7: very excited, yeah about it.
- 31:18Speaker 4: So give us three top things that women want or like,
- 31:23Speaker 4: I mean, you've got to know, like what's in I
- 31:25Speaker 4: want to know what's important.
- 31:27Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 31:27Speaker 8: So some of the top three are honesty, kindness, reliability.
- 31:32Speaker 8: So shouldn't come as a shock to any woman out there,
- 31:34Speaker 8: but those are very important.
- 31:36Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it's cool that you bring it up.
- 31:37Speaker 1: At honesty and yeah, that is number one.
- 31:39Speaker 2: It's number one.
- 31:41Speaker 1: Lisa, Welcome to the Mom's Club. Tell us a little
- 31:44Speaker 1: bit about yourself, where you're from and do you have
- 31:46Speaker 1: a question for Sydney.
- 31:47Speaker 11: Yes, Morris and I am married and.
- 31:51Speaker 7: Have few daughters.
- 31:53Speaker 11: One is thirty and one is thirty two and they
- 31:55Speaker 11: are both single.
- 31:58Speaker 7: I'm listening in a qu I have a question on this.
- 32:01Speaker 11: So I just think if I put my husband in there,
- 32:03Speaker 11: I love him and I think we're a great match,
- 32:04Speaker 11: but we would not have matched. So where do you
- 32:09Speaker 11: because I know that the things that were important to
- 32:11Speaker 11: me then are not the same things that are important
- 32:13Speaker 11: to me now. So if I'm basing it on what
- 32:15Speaker 11: was important to me when I'm twenty five, that might
- 32:17Speaker 11: not carry on through my life. But like opposites attract,
- 32:21Speaker 11: and there's some things you need a little tension. So
- 32:23Speaker 11: if following so much for this person, that's just it
- 32:25Speaker 11: almost feels like almost, Warren, I don't know, I don't
- 32:28Speaker 11: know what.
- 32:29Speaker 7: Tell me you're taking care of that. So I'm so
- 32:31Speaker 7: glad you asked.
- 32:32Speaker 8: And it gets a little bit into what Kathy mentioned about,
- 32:35Speaker 8: like do you want to expand this app to people
- 32:37Speaker 8: in different demographics like age wise or whatever, And yes,
- 32:41Speaker 8: we absolutely do, because relationships do look a little bit
- 32:44Speaker 8: different in different age categories and different demographics, with different backgrounds.
- 32:48Speaker 8: Whatever it is, people what they're looking for changes, and
- 32:50Speaker 8: it can change even in the span of five years.
- 32:52Speaker 8: And that's why AI knowing like all of these high
- 32:56Speaker 8: level patterns, being able to like kind of apply that
- 32:58Speaker 8: to its algorithm is going to be so great because
- 33:01Speaker 8: it can be such a tailored process. It's not like, oh,
- 33:03Speaker 8: here's just a blanket, like if this person checks these
- 33:06Speaker 8: boxes and this person checks these boxes will put them together. Also, again,
- 33:10Speaker 8: one thing I'll mention is going to be so important
- 33:12Speaker 8: is these evolving feedback loops. So as we gather a
- 33:15Speaker 8: massive set of data and a variety of different kinds
- 33:18Speaker 8: of people, AI want to think that's really really good
- 33:21Speaker 8: at is pattern recognition. So it will be able to say, oh,
- 33:24Speaker 8: just because Cindy and Kathy like have all these things
- 33:29Speaker 8: in common, they both said no to each other, why
- 33:32Speaker 8: is that happening? But Sydney's saying yes to people that
- 33:35Speaker 8: are completely different from her in terms of let's call
- 33:37Speaker 8: it politics or like level of religious dedication, whatever you
- 33:41Speaker 8: want to call it.
- 33:42Speaker 7: So those are things that will get better with time.
- 33:45Speaker 8: And it's kind of a data problem, and that's one
- 33:48Speaker 8: of the reasons why AI is going to be such
- 33:50Speaker 8: a benefit is helping uncover those underlying patterns that to
- 33:53Speaker 8: the naked human eye is just kind of glosses over
- 33:57Speaker 8: your head.
- 33:58Speaker 4: What is some of the feedback that you get from
- 34:01Speaker 4: kids your age?
- 34:02Speaker 2: I'm sorry I called you a kid, but you know
- 34:04Speaker 2: what I.
- 34:04Speaker 7: Mean, Like, I still have heard of myself as a kid.
- 34:06Speaker 2: Okay, well I'm saying and that's how yes. Anyway, So
- 34:10Speaker 2: what's some of it?
- 34:11Speaker 4: Yeah, I want to hear like what some of your
- 34:14Speaker 4: you know, the beta testers are saying, or like you
- 34:17Speaker 4: know people that are using your app.
- 34:19Speaker 8: Mm, yeah, it's some things I get are people saying
- 34:23Speaker 8: it's like super fun to read the agent conversations, Like
- 34:25Speaker 8: they think it's so funny to see this little like
- 34:28Speaker 8: person in the cloud going out and representing them and
- 34:31Speaker 8: seeing how good or not good it maybe is. I know,
- 34:35Speaker 8: I've talked to a few girls that said they really
- 34:37Speaker 8: like that they're able to see like right off the front,
- 34:39Speaker 8: like what people's values are in their type of relationship
- 34:41Speaker 8: they're looking for versus like having to just play a
- 34:44Speaker 8: guessing game.
- 34:45Speaker 7: And actually, like about half more.
- 34:47Speaker 8: Than half of people and they're like eighteen to thirty
- 34:49Speaker 8: five are looking for serious relationships. It's all just about
- 34:52Speaker 8: getting those people together, like you don't want to throw
- 34:54Speaker 8: them all in the same pool, which is what all
- 34:56Speaker 8: of these swipe based apps are like, and it's like, okay,
- 34:58Speaker 8: figure out the person for you, Like no, Like the
- 35:01Speaker 8: way we're set up is you have to answer a
- 35:03Speaker 8: longer onboaring process like that filters some people out already,
- 35:06Speaker 8: Like if you're just looking to go on a date,
- 35:09Speaker 8: one night date with so many things attractive like that,
- 35:12Speaker 8: that's what tenders for.
- 35:13Speaker 2: Yeah, well that's exactly right.
- 35:15Speaker 1: So our last Zoomer mom today is a woman that
- 35:17Speaker 1: we know has a lot of concerns. She has two children,
- 35:20Speaker 1: a daughter especially, she's got very great concerns about her
- 35:23Speaker 1: daughter's dating life. So please welcome Jennifer Marsh, who is
- 35:28Speaker 1: Sydney's father. Yeah, welcome to the Zoomer room. And do
- 35:32Speaker 1: you have a question for Sydney.
- 35:35Speaker 5: Yes, I'm not just a mom. I'm happy to be
- 35:37Speaker 5: the mom.
- 35:38Speaker 2: That's right, that's good.
- 35:39Speaker 5: And I am from Austin.
- 35:41Speaker 9: She has a brother, Sam, who is also he's in college.
- 35:46Speaker 5: So I've seen from her experience and his experience.
- 35:50Speaker 9: How the world of dating is just so different than
- 35:54Speaker 9: it used to be. And a million reasons, like we
- 35:57Speaker 9: all know about the epidemic of loneliness, sent about the
- 36:01Speaker 9: inability for people to develop deep relationships and the limit
- 36:04Speaker 9: of time they spend, you know, in contact with another
- 36:08Speaker 9: one another and sort of having these face to face
- 36:11Speaker 9: conversations and sort of in the room breathing the same air.
- 36:15Speaker 9: And you know, everyone basically is questioning how to move
- 36:20Speaker 9: forward with technology.
- 36:21Speaker 5: But still be human. And one of the things that I.
- 36:24Speaker 9: Think is so interesting about when I'm so proud of
- 36:28Speaker 9: Sitting for doing is as she followed her heart and
- 36:31Speaker 9: stuck with her like her passion for psychology and worked
- 36:35Speaker 9: with her professor from her an entrepreneur who wasn't at Dartmouth,
- 36:41Speaker 9: but it is more the age of her professor as well.
- 36:44Speaker 5: As her professor at Dartmouth.
- 36:48Speaker 9: And you know, they really are trying to solve a
- 36:50Speaker 9: problem like this clearly.
- 36:52Speaker 5: Needs to be a business. But I think first they're
- 36:55Speaker 5: trying to.
- 36:56Speaker 9: Really figure out I mean, and that's the basis of
- 36:59Speaker 9: the original. They've kind of they've pivoted a number of times.
- 37:01Speaker 9: It's been a number of different things. But I mean, Sydney,
- 37:04Speaker 9: I'd love for you to tell me what you think.
- 37:06Speaker 5: At this point.
- 37:07Speaker 9: But I really think the core sort of drive behind
- 37:11Speaker 9: the whole app is like how do we create deep,
- 37:15Speaker 9: meaningful connections That is like that is the north star,
- 37:19Speaker 9: the guiding light, the city that drives all the thinking
- 37:23Speaker 9: behind the core architecture and engineering of the app.
- 37:27Speaker 5: And Sydney, I love to hear what you think about that.
- 37:30Speaker 8: Yeah, absolutely, And I also mentioned because I know you're
- 37:32Speaker 8: obviously a boy mom as I am a sister to Sam,
- 37:37Speaker 8: and I'll talk a little bit about the male experience,
- 37:39Speaker 8: especially with like the loneliness epidemic. And I remember learning
- 37:42Speaker 8: about this from Bill, my professor in college, and that
- 37:46Speaker 8: is there's an epidemic with everyone, but particularly with men,
- 37:49Speaker 8: that men are having less close relationships than they used
- 37:52Speaker 8: to and men are increasingly relying on girlfriends for that
- 37:55Speaker 8: emotional support. Yet people are seeing these dating apps and
- 37:59Speaker 8: they're not finding those meaningful relationships, which just creates such
- 38:02Speaker 8: a negative feedback loop that is just making all of society,
- 38:06Speaker 8: I think, worse in general. And the reason why I
- 38:09Speaker 8: wanted to do this, I didn't originally wake up and
- 38:11Speaker 8: be like, wow, I really want to build a dating app,
- 38:13Speaker 8: But being in college and being a psychology major and
- 38:16Speaker 8: learning about this, I'm like, wow, I really want to
- 38:17Speaker 8: find a way to help fight this. And romantic relationships
- 38:21Speaker 8: are such a protective factor in just your general psychological health.
- 38:26Speaker 8: I mean, if you're satisfied with your deep close relationships
- 38:29Speaker 8: friendships yes as well, but also romantic relationships, you are
- 38:33Speaker 8: a kinder, more empathetic person in general. And the ripple
- 38:36Speaker 8: effect is massive. And another example that this is something
- 38:39Speaker 8: my mom always says to us.
- 38:41Speaker 7: Is the best thing you can do is go home and.
- 38:44Speaker 8: Love your family, and that's one of the best things
- 38:46Speaker 8: you can do for the world. And a romantic relationship
- 38:49Speaker 8: is a big part of that. So if we can
- 38:50Speaker 8: help connect to to people that are an amazing fit
- 38:54Speaker 8: for you and can help you build a life with
- 38:56Speaker 8: this person, society gets.
- 38:58Speaker 7: Better as a whole.
- 38:59Speaker 8: And also I'll touch on one more thing, which I
- 39:01Speaker 8: think I talked about why this app is amazing for women,
- 39:04Speaker 8: I'm also going to talk about why it's amazing for men.
- 39:06Speaker 8: Of course I'm talking about heterosexual relationships in this instance,
- 39:10Speaker 8: but on swipe based platforms, women are interested in three
- 39:14Speaker 8: to fifteen percent of male profiles.
- 39:17Speaker 7: On Distill, women are interested in over half the male
- 39:19Speaker 7: profiles they see because we give.
- 39:21Speaker 8: You high quality profiles and we give you more information
- 39:24Speaker 8: the information you want to see. So men are having
- 39:27Speaker 8: a better success rate and women are seeing better quality.
- 39:30Speaker 7: So I think it's a one when Yeah, personally.
- 39:32Speaker 4: That girl you just put a bow on that That
- 39:35Speaker 4: is amazing, that is that's perfect.
- 39:37Speaker 2: That is yeah.
- 39:38Speaker 1: How So in terms of the kind of questions like
- 39:41Speaker 1: are you looking more immediate dating meeting or like more
- 39:45Speaker 1: long term, because if you're thinking about your psychology majors,
- 39:48Speaker 1: you've gotta know how it works when you get married.
- 39:51Speaker 1: A little known secret is you basically married the whole family? Oh,
- 39:55Speaker 1: you're marrying everybody? That like, if you're not careful about
- 39:59Speaker 1: who you like, what's the what's the dynamic?
- 40:02Speaker 2: I don't know, why are you looking at me?
- 40:05Speaker 1: I guess i'd heard, but I'm not looking at you.
- 40:10Speaker 1: And that's just that's just that's just true. So how
- 40:13Speaker 1: deep are these do these questions get more extensive?
- 40:16Speaker 4: Like do they talk about family? Do they talk about
- 40:19Speaker 4: their siblings? Do they talk about family life? Like your
- 40:22Speaker 4: mom says the best thing you can do is to
- 40:24Speaker 4: love your family. Which, by the way, Jennifer, that's beautiful.
- 40:27Speaker 1: That is you know what we've been asking for.
- 40:30Speaker 5: I can't take any credit for that. That is a
- 40:32Speaker 5: quote from mother Teresa.
- 40:34Speaker 2: I don't care where it came from, but you're teaching
- 40:37Speaker 2: your kids that. Yeah, so you should have taken.
- 40:40Speaker 1: Credit for it. Nobody would have known. But just even
- 40:44Speaker 1: more a bigger picture, you know, how much are you
- 40:47Speaker 1: really learning? Like if you learned, are you keeping in mind?
- 40:51Speaker 1: They're like, what are what's our relationship? Because I know
- 40:54Speaker 1: as a as a mom of two boys. Mothers of
- 40:57Speaker 1: boys are very protective throughout their lives and might be
- 41:00Speaker 1: quite opinionated about their future spouse or whatever and could
- 41:04Speaker 1: be very involved. Not that I will be.
- 41:06Speaker 2: I will be very not at all money easy to.
- 41:07Speaker 1: Get along with, ye, But I mean do you put
- 41:11Speaker 1: that in their mind to like, Okay, what's your relationship
- 41:13Speaker 1: with your mother, what's your relationship with your father? What's
- 41:17Speaker 1: your like? Do you get into more things that actually
- 41:20Speaker 1: could long term? I mean you're getting them to meet
- 41:23Speaker 1: each other initially and get to know each other, but
- 41:25Speaker 1: to a put in their mind when I do meet
- 41:27Speaker 1: this person, maybe I should right be careful? How you know?
- 41:32Speaker 1: I when I am introduced to the in law, potential
- 41:35Speaker 1: in laws or whatever, what that looks like?
- 41:37Speaker 2: Yeah? What do you think? Sid?
- 41:40Speaker 8: So we do try and keep some of our questions
- 41:42Speaker 8: a little bit more open ended, but we do actually
- 41:44Speaker 8: have a question that very specifically targets tell us about
- 41:47Speaker 8: your childhood in your early life, like were you very
- 41:50Speaker 8: close with your family? Is that a core value for you?
- 41:53Speaker 8: Were you very emotionally tied to your hometown? Did you
- 41:56Speaker 8: move around a lot? So we do encourage people to
- 41:59Speaker 8: talk about that in general, and we want to give
- 42:01Speaker 8: people space to, like, if they want to talk about
- 42:03Speaker 8: one thing more than something else, like, that's their prerogative
- 42:06Speaker 8: to do so. And I do think using voice AI
- 42:09Speaker 8: to do these onboarding processes will get even better at that.
- 42:13Speaker 8: But yes, we do ask people one tell us about
- 42:15Speaker 8: what you want in general in a partner, and we
- 42:18Speaker 8: give some examples of like values like substance use, like politics,
- 42:23Speaker 8: things like that, and a big thing people often use
- 42:26Speaker 8: that space to talk about is future family planning, like
- 42:29Speaker 8: do you want to get married, do you want to
- 42:30Speaker 8: have kids?
- 42:31Speaker 7: Do you want your parents involved?
- 42:32Speaker 8: Like I see a lot of people use it for that,
- 42:34Speaker 8: but also your childhood, like people often talk about their
- 42:37Speaker 8: relationship with their parents and if they had a lot
- 42:39Speaker 8: of siblings and what that was like. So yes, that's
- 42:41Speaker 8: definitely something that is seen a lot on the app.
- 42:44Speaker 2: Well that's key.
- 42:45Speaker 1: Yeah, Well it's interesting to do because you all are psychologists,
- 42:48Speaker 1: so you can look into those things that are so important. Constanza,
- 42:53Speaker 1: I feel like you have another question over there.
- 42:57Speaker 10: I mean, I'm ruin over here, King and you.
- 43:02Speaker 4: You have I mean, this may be how your daughter
- 43:04Speaker 4: dates when you know what I mean and how it
- 43:07Speaker 4: happens for her, you have the whole I said, this
- 43:10Speaker 4: may be how it your daughter dates in the future,
- 43:13Speaker 4: and how it's going to happen for her.
- 43:15Speaker 10: Yeah, so no, absolutely absolutely. I mean, listen, we all
- 43:18Speaker 10: hope that you know she she makes the right decision,
- 43:21Speaker 10: whether or not it's with an app or without an app.
- 43:23Speaker 10: But I feel like you know, by the time that
- 43:25Speaker 10: she's that she's ready to to take that step forward,
- 43:28Speaker 10: that everything will be bunted up a I will will
- 43:31Speaker 10: know exactly what it's doing. I just what I don't
- 43:34Speaker 10: want is that human connection to get lost within the pross.
- 43:39Speaker 10: I've had my fair share of bad boyfriends and good
- 43:42Speaker 10: boyfriend I know Mi I will have you know her
- 43:45Speaker 10: breakups and and heartbreaks. But that human connection is so important.
- 43:50Speaker 10: And sometimes, you know, you meet somebody and you fall
- 43:52Speaker 10: completely in love without even speaking.
- 43:54Speaker 7: To each other.
- 43:55Speaker 10: So yeah, I'm interested, I'm curious. I'm excited about this
- 43:59Speaker 10: for the future. It's the future's bread for you, Sydney,
- 44:02Speaker 10: so very very exciting stuff.
- 44:03Speaker 7: Yeah, thank you.
- 44:05Speaker 8: Yeah, And I love I love that you're focused on
- 44:07Speaker 8: that because that's obviously such a critical element. And I
- 44:09Speaker 8: wouldn't be doing what we're doing if human connection wasn't
- 44:12Speaker 8: such a critical part of it. So one thing I'll
- 44:14Speaker 8: mention really briefly with dating apps, and someone mentioned one
- 44:16Speaker 8: of my badizers mentioned this to me, and I thought
- 44:18Speaker 8: it was such a good quote, is that it feels
- 44:20Speaker 8: like a video game, Like it's like how many matches
- 44:22Speaker 8: can I get? How many points can I rack up?
- 44:24Speaker 8: Like how many inbound messages can I get? And like
- 44:27Speaker 8: that's the opposite of human connection. That's the commodification of people.
- 44:31Speaker 8: That's what we want to get away from. And I
- 44:33Speaker 8: think what's like, like I mentioned earlier, like the goal
- 44:36Speaker 8: of a dating profile be quote unquote successful is to
- 44:39Speaker 8: be generalizable to as many people as possible. And that's
- 44:41Speaker 8: the exact opposite of what we want you to do.
- 44:43Speaker 7: On distill.
- 44:43Speaker 8: We want you to be specific, a niche to what
- 44:45Speaker 8: you want and who you are, be as authentic as
- 44:48Speaker 8: you can so we can give you the most authentic connection,
- 44:50Speaker 8: and then from there we want you to go on
- 44:52Speaker 8: that date, because you don't really know until you see
- 44:54Speaker 8: that person in person, and then it's you have that
- 44:57Speaker 8: connection or you don't. And generally, if everyone is being
- 45:00Speaker 8: safe and we have safety features built in. There's it's
- 45:04Speaker 8: always great to go on that date because you learn
- 45:07Speaker 8: more about yourself for it. You'd be like, wow, I
- 45:08Speaker 8: thought this is someone that I wanted, turns out it's not,
- 45:11Speaker 8: or vice versa, like I really wasn't sure about this
- 45:13Speaker 8: going in. Oh my gosh, she's amazing. She's amazing whoever,
- 45:17Speaker 8: but I do think that is so important. So getting
- 45:19Speaker 8: people to go not just on dates, but on dates
- 45:22Speaker 8: that are highly likely to convert to a second and
- 45:25Speaker 8: third and wife or husband.
- 45:27Speaker 1: So, yeah, can you meet.
- 45:28Speaker 7: Each other voice notes?
- 45:30Speaker 10: Is it something that if they chose to communicate and
- 45:32Speaker 10: maybe ta get a little bit, is that's on the my
- 45:33Speaker 10: ahead and hear their voice?
- 45:35Speaker 2: Is that a possibility?
- 45:36Speaker 8: So for the beta as of right now, no, but
- 45:39Speaker 8: for the app, yes, that is something we want to do.
- 45:41Speaker 8: So like, the way it would work is basically, your
- 45:43Speaker 8: agent recommends people.
- 45:44Speaker 7: You say you're interested.
- 45:45Speaker 8: If the other person alsoys they're interested in you, then
- 45:47Speaker 8: you go to a human to human chat in which
- 45:49Speaker 8: you could send voice notes, send messages, pictures, whatever, and
- 45:53Speaker 8: then decide if you want to meet up in person.
- 45:55Speaker 1: What sha real quick that you mentioned safety? Can you
- 45:58Speaker 1: just mention that really quick, because I know a lot
- 46:00Speaker 1: of the reasons women are getting off of swhite basis
- 46:02Speaker 1: because they still don't feel like they're it's safe, They're
- 46:05Speaker 1: they're really worried about that.
- 46:07Speaker 8: So yes, so a big thing that what we're able
- 46:10Speaker 8: to do with AIS you can kind of get a
- 46:12Speaker 8: sense for someone is the other online very public online presence.
- 46:15Speaker 7: So one, we can look at the photos you submit.
- 46:17Speaker 8: And tell with the high de group of confidence if
- 46:19Speaker 8: they're AI generated or not, because that's going to continue
- 46:22Speaker 8: to be an issue. It's going to be a greater
- 46:23Speaker 8: issue as time goes on, unfortunately. And also we can
- 46:27Speaker 8: say like, okay, you gave me these number of these
- 46:29Speaker 8: stats about you, like we can just do a broad based,
- 46:31Speaker 8: very public information search and be like we are ninety
- 46:34Speaker 8: percent sure or higher that you are who you say
- 46:36Speaker 8: you are, and even things like we're deciding if we
- 46:39Speaker 8: want to go through with this, but like if you
- 46:41Speaker 8: lie about your height, we can kind of tell from
- 46:43Speaker 8: your photos like as an.
- 46:46Speaker 2: Age, yeah, yeah.
- 46:48Speaker 8: So when it found you, and we do want to
- 46:52Speaker 8: make sure this is a like exclusive community, like this
- 46:55Speaker 8: is a community of people that are here for the
- 46:56Speaker 8: right reasons and putting checks in place to make sure that.
- 46:59Speaker 9: That is the case.
- 47:00Speaker 2: Well, look correct me if I'm wrong, Sydney.
- 47:02Speaker 4: But this feels really nice because it's a little bit
- 47:06Speaker 4: like the old fashioned way of meeting someone with a
- 47:09Speaker 4: modern twist and going together with technology as we evolve.
- 47:14Speaker 8: Yes, no, yes, yes, yeah, we want to mimic how
- 47:19Speaker 8: people behave in real life dating, but use the benefit
- 47:22Speaker 8: of an online platform, which really just expands the community
- 47:25Speaker 8: available to you. So that's the benefit online dating, taking
- 47:29Speaker 8: away all the negative things that it's kind of turned
- 47:31Speaker 8: into in terms of the video gamification i'll call it of.
- 47:34Speaker 7: Modern dating apps.
- 47:36Speaker 1: Well, and that's also the all part of social media too,
- 47:38Speaker 1: because when you mentioned that it's how many you know
- 47:41Speaker 1: people say that I like you. It's the same thing
- 47:43Speaker 1: in social on Instagram or TikTok. You're looking how many
- 47:46Speaker 1: likes did I get? How many followers do I have?
- 47:48Speaker 1: But you think at that mindset, So, but you want
- 47:50Speaker 1: this to be You're trying to meet one person, not
- 47:53Speaker 1: say that I have a fan club of people that
- 47:55Speaker 1: decided that.
- 47:56Speaker 2: Yeah, that sounds exhausting.
- 47:57Speaker 4: Dating should be if it is enhances your life and
- 48:02Speaker 4: not exhausting, because really, a really good deep relationship should
- 48:07Speaker 4: be something that is like nice to have, not something
- 48:10Speaker 4: that you're like, you know what I mean.
- 48:12Speaker 2: I feel like it needs to complete, like it's a
- 48:14Speaker 2: job too, right, right, right? So I love it. Where
- 48:17Speaker 2: does Sam fit in the picture of distill? Please spill?
- 48:21Speaker 2: Is he signed up yet?
- 48:24Speaker 7: Sorry?
- 48:24Speaker 2: I repeat that when we're your brother? Has he signed
- 48:26Speaker 2: up yet?
- 48:28Speaker 7: He has signed up?
- 48:29Speaker 2: Okay?
- 48:30Speaker 8: I did not to know that a cute girl likes
- 48:32Speaker 8: him on it and I'm trying to bug get back
- 48:35Speaker 8: to her. Oh he's busy.
- 48:37Speaker 7: He just moved into school.
- 48:38Speaker 1: Yes, Oh well, that's my last question. So if that happens,
- 48:43Speaker 1: so cute girl likes you and you say that, do
- 48:45Speaker 1: you you put a bug in their other person's ear
- 48:48Speaker 1: because they have to just both decide they like each other.
- 48:51Speaker 8: Do you So I will ever reveal that this specific
- 48:55Speaker 8: person likes anyone specific person, you would have an indification
- 48:59Speaker 8: that goes out. So someone on the platform is shown
- 49:01Speaker 8: interest in you, make sure to check back in and
- 49:03Speaker 8: if you're interested in anyone, indicate that.
- 49:06Speaker 1: Okay, And then of.
- 49:07Speaker 2: Course, so it's connect you some kind of yes, no
- 49:09Speaker 2: maybe situation.
- 49:13Speaker 4: Like when that happens and they connect someone on the
- 49:15Speaker 4: platform has shown interest in you, is it like yesno,
- 49:20Speaker 4: maybe I'll go out with them, or how does that?
- 49:22Speaker 2: I mean yes?
- 49:24Speaker 8: So actually, something that we're doing that's a little bit
- 49:26Speaker 8: different than you'd see on other dating apps is you
- 49:28Speaker 8: can choose to say yes, no, or maybe to someone,
- 49:31Speaker 8: but you would also say like I do or don't
- 49:33Speaker 8: want be connected. So you could say maybe, but I
- 49:35Speaker 8: want to be connected, or yes, but I don't want
- 49:38Speaker 8: to be connected, and that just could be like you
- 49:40Speaker 8: are interested in checking it out your traveling, so you're
- 49:43Speaker 8: not in the right place to go on a date,
- 49:44Speaker 8: but you still want the app to learn and get better.
- 49:47Speaker 8: And I do think this maybe is kind of critical
- 49:49Speaker 8: because having a forced choice on dating products, like there's
- 49:52Speaker 8: a big difference between someone that's a ninety five percent
- 49:55Speaker 8: no and a sixty percent no, right, So having a
- 49:58Speaker 8: way to kind of capch for that information is really
- 50:02Speaker 8: helpful because I know that, I mean I have I've
- 50:04Speaker 8: had to try out all these apps just to see
- 50:05Speaker 8: my competitive landscape, and sometimes it's like how fast can
- 50:09Speaker 8: I swipe away?
- 50:10Speaker 3: Versus a okay, thinking about yeah, what do you want
- 50:15Speaker 3: us to know as moms about this dating app, like
- 50:19Speaker 3: or in dating in general, Like I've I'm down with.
- 50:23Speaker 4: I've learned situationship. I've learned exclusive, you know, exclusive, and
- 50:28Speaker 4: then apparently you have to go out to dinner and
- 50:31Speaker 4: ask someone to be your girlfriend or boyfriend.
- 50:33Speaker 1: I also learned the other day that just the boyfriend
- 50:36Speaker 1: girlfriend thing does not mean that we should start planning
- 50:38Speaker 1: the wedding because when I mentioned to those boys, oh,
- 50:40Speaker 1: are they getting married?
- 50:41Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 50:43Speaker 4: Married?
- 50:44Speaker 2: Yeah? So what do you want us to know?
- 50:46Speaker 3: Like?
- 50:46Speaker 2: Teaches something? So I don't stick my foot in my
- 50:48Speaker 2: mouth today.
- 50:50Speaker 8: Absolutely, I mean, I think the biggest thing, and what
- 50:52Speaker 8: we've all kind of seen is dating is such an
- 50:54Speaker 8: evolving landscape and there's so many trends, and yes, some
- 50:56Speaker 8: of them are kind of clickbait, like Shrekking. I don't
- 50:59Speaker 8: know if you guys have heard of that.
- 51:00Speaker 2: I have no idea what you're talking about. You know
- 51:02Speaker 2: the movie? Yeah, I do.
- 51:05Speaker 8: Basically, shrekking is when you date someone that's standing down,
- 51:08Speaker 8: not attracted as.
- 51:09Speaker 7: You because you're settling. So that's a fun little daytak
- 51:13Speaker 7: to Georgia why she didn't teach this way, but there is.
- 51:17Speaker 7: It's a lot of noise in just dating in general.
- 51:19Speaker 8: It's like, oh, dress this way, dressed that way like
- 51:22Speaker 8: or act this way or say this line like it's
- 51:25Speaker 8: so much noise and clutter. But we're trying to do
- 51:28Speaker 8: is just make it a simplistic, minimalistic process, like I
- 51:31Speaker 8: know who I am, what I want. Maybe your agent
- 51:35Speaker 8: can help you clarify that even further through like learning
- 51:38Speaker 8: about yourself on the app and find you an amazing
- 51:41Speaker 8: person and spend less time on the app, not more.
- 51:44Speaker 8: We're not trying to increase daily active users. We're trying
- 51:47Speaker 8: to increase amazing data.
- 51:49Speaker 1: People out there having great dates.
- 51:50Speaker 2: Well is filtering?
- 51:52Speaker 1: I love it? I love it so Sydney. Where did
- 51:55Speaker 1: they find Where does the our audience find you on
- 51:58Speaker 1: social media? Or how they sign their children up for
- 52:02Speaker 1: distill or whatever they choo get signed up.
- 52:08Speaker 12: Lisa on both talking, Instagram at Distill dot Dating and
- 52:18Speaker 12: you can go to distill dating dot com to sign
- 52:21Speaker 12: up for the beta access code is curate.
- 52:24Speaker 8: But native app will be coming out very very soon.
- 52:27Speaker 8: So some cities to start getting excited for Dallas, Austin, Miami,
- 52:32Speaker 8: s f Chicago, Nashville, all start getting excited because we're
- 52:36Speaker 8: coming to your.
- 52:36Speaker 2: City possible launch.
- 52:38Speaker 1: Please say so much city, Thanks.
- 52:39Speaker 2: For spilling the tea on that one.
- 52:41Speaker 1: Yeah, speaking of launch cities, that just segues right, we're
- 52:45Speaker 1: doing we are doing Mom's Club events in cities across
- 52:49Speaker 1: the country where you'll see us in Nashville, Atlanta, Dallas,
- 52:53Speaker 1: We're going to be all over the place. So moms,
- 52:55Speaker 1: you can bring your mom tarage of friends together and
- 52:59Speaker 1: we will commiserate and we'll all talk about our kids dating.
- 53:04Speaker 2: Like okay, ed you that.
- 53:06Speaker 1: Yeah, see now I know what Shreking was. Now you'll know,
- 53:09Speaker 1: and so it will sound really important and like we
