- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:05Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus. After ten yard line, second to day three
- 0:08Speaker 1: wide receivers now in motion as Bumpas left to ride
- 0:11Speaker 1: Julius Jones a single setback Matt Pumpecks. Looking at the
- 0:14Speaker 1: goal line, he throws it into the end zone. Touchdown.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Say Hawks, it's Michael Bumpus with a diving kitchen the
- 0:21Speaker 1: end zone. Our ten yard touchdown reception for Bumpas, and
- 0:25Speaker 1: the kid out of Washington State has found himself a
- 0:29Speaker 1: place on this team. Powered by Seahawks dot Com. What, folks,
- 0:34Speaker 1: this is Michael Bumpas along with Nasa Choby. You're listening
- 0:36Speaker 1: to Hawk Talk the recap edition. The Seahawks lost a
- 0:40Speaker 1: tough one twenty eight to twenty three at lambeau Field
- 0:44Speaker 1: to the Green Bay Packers. But like we always do,
- 0:48Speaker 1: we're gonna bring in the big guy, Ray Roberts. Ray,
- 0:50Speaker 1: how you doing today? Am all right? Man? Survived the
- 0:54Speaker 1: snow slate ride home last night and the snow so
- 0:57Speaker 1: that I was. I'm all good about that. Good. You
- 1:00Speaker 1: gotta get rid of those low pro tires. May need
- 1:02Speaker 1: a truck, yeah, I know it, right, I got behind
- 1:05Speaker 1: a thick truck and just trailed it all the way
- 1:07Speaker 1: to Woodville. Here we go, Hey, well, obviously disappointed loss. Um,
- 1:12Speaker 1: the Hawks look like they might be able to pull
- 1:14Speaker 1: out another miracle. But what do you learn about this
- 1:18Speaker 1: team on Sunday? You know what? Like I've always had
- 1:23Speaker 1: like an appreciation for Russell Wilson, but it's almost like, um,
- 1:28Speaker 1: I kind of bought in even more to just like
- 1:31Speaker 1: his way of thinking about competition, his way of thinking
- 1:35Speaker 1: about training, his way of thinking about winning. Like sometimes
- 1:39Speaker 1: you know people have, uh, you know these things that
- 1:42Speaker 1: they do that that kind of prepared themselves mentally or physically,
- 1:46Speaker 1: you know, emotionally whatever, and sometimes you're like, yeah, okay, whatever,
- 1:50Speaker 1: just go play football. And uh but last night, for
- 1:54Speaker 1: some reason, like all those things that he talks about,
- 1:57Speaker 1: that that how he prepares himself for competition in games,
- 2:01Speaker 1: Um I just had a new appreciation for it just
- 2:04Speaker 1: because um because he in his mind wants to win
- 2:10Speaker 1: the football game, no matter what the score is, no
- 2:13Speaker 1: matter what point of the game it is, no matter
- 2:15Speaker 1: how far down you are or uh, you know, what
- 2:18Speaker 1: injuries you have or what have you. That was probably
- 2:21Speaker 1: the most the biggest thing that that I kind of
- 2:24Speaker 1: walked away from. The other thing was just um just
- 2:27Speaker 1: needing to get some reliable weapons around him. You know
- 2:32Speaker 1: that the injuries like really hurt the you know, not
- 2:34Speaker 1: having the running backs and then the injuries along the
- 2:37Speaker 1: offensive line, but also just that receiver DK came came
- 2:40Speaker 1: along real nicely, Like I just like super impressed by
- 2:43Speaker 1: that dude and the work that he put in. And
- 2:46Speaker 1: then Tyler's Tyler. But you know, just having some more
- 2:50Speaker 1: people that you can count on that can get open, uh,
- 2:52Speaker 1: that he can get the ball too, so that he
- 2:54Speaker 1: doesn't have to work miracles all the time. And then
- 2:58Speaker 1: on defense, obviously there's some some spots that need to
- 3:02Speaker 1: be tightened up and U you know, maybe the safety
- 3:05Speaker 1: spots and things. But you know, with everybody healthy and
- 3:09Speaker 1: another year together, I feel good about the weapons that
- 3:13Speaker 1: they have there, especially they can get Clowney back. Everyone
- 3:16Speaker 1: talks about Russell Wilson's grit and his resilience, which he
- 3:20Speaker 1: is has both of those. But let's focus on Dwayne Brown.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Let dude, that surgery three weeks ago and he's out
- 3:26Speaker 1: there giving it all for his team. What did you
- 3:28Speaker 1: see out of Duwayne Brown? I was just I mean again,
- 3:32Speaker 1: you know, from the first time I met this dude,
- 3:34Speaker 1: like honestly, just watching him getting his stance, I was like,
- 3:38Speaker 1: all right, this dude is a real bullet, Like this
- 3:40Speaker 1: dude is a man's man, just the way he just
- 3:42Speaker 1: kind of settled into his stance, like with so much
- 3:45Speaker 1: confidence and ease and just kind of like being there,
- 3:47Speaker 1: done that, I know what I'm doing. But then to
- 3:50Speaker 1: hear that, you know, he stood up in front of
- 3:52Speaker 1: the team and just said, you know what, I'm gonna
- 3:55Speaker 1: give you everything I have for this game, Like I'm
- 3:58Speaker 1: gonna play and I'm gonna give you everything I have.
- 4:00Speaker 1: And for the most part, like he was the same
- 4:02Speaker 1: old Dwayne Brown, like he had to knock off a
- 4:04Speaker 1: little bit of rust against some some really good pass rushers.
- 4:08Speaker 1: But sometimes people don't understand what it takes to play
- 4:13Speaker 1: this game and what people go through to get themselves ready,
- 4:17Speaker 1: uh to perform, And so to have to play three
- 4:20Speaker 1: weeks after surgery, knee still hurting, still swollen, uh, and
- 4:25Speaker 1: a really cold, like it's it's even harder to keep
- 4:28Speaker 1: that thing warm and and and and and uh moving
- 4:32Speaker 1: in the cold. Uh, And then just say like, man,
- 4:35Speaker 1: I'm doing this like obviously he's doing it for himself,
- 4:38Speaker 1: but I'm doing this for you guys, Like I'm doing
- 4:40Speaker 1: this because this is how much I care about this team.
- 4:43Speaker 1: There's how much I care about Russell Wilson. It's how
- 4:45Speaker 1: much I care about uh, you know, Quadred Days. This
- 4:48Speaker 1: is how much I care about Pete Carroll. I'm going
- 4:50Speaker 1: out there and I'm gonna give you everything I have.
- 4:54Speaker 1: And so that's why at the end of this game,
- 4:57Speaker 1: there were so many people like that like that just
- 5:00Speaker 1: left everything on the field that it's really hard to
- 5:04Speaker 1: read some of the tweets and things that people are
- 5:06Speaker 1: saying about firing this guy, getting rid of this dude,
- 5:08Speaker 1: or or this play, this player doesn't do this thing
- 5:12Speaker 1: or whatever it is. It's like, man, you have no idea,
- 5:16Speaker 1: just the the mental fortitude of the strength that it
- 5:20Speaker 1: takes to say, I'm in pain and I'm still gonna
- 5:24Speaker 1: go out here and give this this team every single
- 5:26Speaker 1: thing I had. And that was de Rayne Brown, And
- 5:29Speaker 1: that's pretty incredible. Yeah, I think fan bases kind of
- 5:31Speaker 1: gets spoiled a little bit. I want to remind folks
- 5:33Speaker 1: of two thousand and eight, two thousand and nine when
- 5:35Speaker 1: I was on the team win four and twelve and
- 5:36Speaker 1: seven and nine. So you know, the fact that these
- 5:40Speaker 1: dudes were able to pull off twelve wins this season
- 5:44Speaker 1: is amazing. I want to I want to ask you
- 5:45Speaker 1: about Marshawn Lynn. She had two touchdowns last game. I
- 5:49Speaker 1: wasn't really able to get the run game going. What
- 5:51Speaker 1: do you think the problem was there? Was the running bags,
- 5:53Speaker 1: was the injuries on offensive line? What we're seeing there.
- 5:56Speaker 1: I think it's a combination of everything. I think, you know,
- 5:59Speaker 1: bringing Sean Beck was like a great emotional lift for
- 6:03Speaker 1: the team and then send him score touchdowns was pretty cool,
- 6:07Speaker 1: but you were never thinking that he was gonna rush
- 6:10Speaker 1: for one hundred and twenty yards on you know, thirty
- 6:12Speaker 1: carries or something another like that. So, uh So, I
- 6:15Speaker 1: think they got out of him what they wanted to
- 6:18Speaker 1: get out of him, and then it was just just
- 6:19Speaker 1: unfortunate that, uh in this game, I think there was
- 6:22Speaker 1: an opportunity to run the ball, but the score kind
- 6:24Speaker 1: of got away away from you until you just couldn't
- 6:27Speaker 1: do the things in the running game that you wanted
- 6:29Speaker 1: to do. And then also just the injuries on offensive line.
- 6:33Speaker 1: I mean, you played, you know a lot of the
- 6:35Speaker 1: season route, your starting center, Uh, your left guard was
- 6:38Speaker 1: in and out and then Dwayne Brown was in and out,
- 6:41Speaker 1: and then you're tight end. You know Will Disley who
- 6:43Speaker 1: was really accomplished blocker. You don't have them either, didn't
- 6:48Speaker 1: you didn't You're down also your running back. So I
- 6:51Speaker 1: think as it relates to the running game and Marshall Lynch,
- 6:53Speaker 1: I think they got out of him what they what
- 6:56Speaker 1: they kind of thought they would get out of him.
- 6:58Speaker 1: I think yesterday they probably wanted to giving the ball
- 7:01Speaker 1: a few more times. But like I said, it was
- 7:03Speaker 1: you know twenty one to three, you kind of kind
- 7:05Speaker 1: of get away from the running game and get get
- 7:07Speaker 1: the throwing the ball. But um, I was excited that
- 7:10Speaker 1: he was back. You can tell the locker room was
- 7:13Speaker 1: excited it was back. I think a lot of people
- 7:15Speaker 1: have a lot of appreciation and thankfulness and and uh
- 7:18Speaker 1: for for him being willing to come back and help
- 7:21Speaker 1: the team that way. And then just like I said
- 7:23Speaker 1: last night, some of the open mic stuff, you hear
- 7:25Speaker 1: him talking to the young guys about you know, being
- 7:28Speaker 1: ready or what you have to do, or or just
- 7:31Speaker 1: taking him under his wing, like those types of things
- 7:33Speaker 1: with you know, hearing some of the stuff that he
- 7:34Speaker 1: was saying the Homer on the sideline. Um, I mean
- 7:37Speaker 1: that stuff is invaluable. That's some stuff that'll that'll stick
- 7:40Speaker 1: with those guys, you know, for a long time. So
- 7:42Speaker 1: as an impact the last longer here with the Seahawks
- 7:45Speaker 1: than his physical self. And so I think that's a
- 7:47Speaker 1: pretty cool thing. Do you think he's going to be
- 7:49Speaker 1: back next year? You know, in the back of my mind,
- 7:53Speaker 1: like it's like, man, it'd be really cool to have
- 7:55Speaker 1: him back. But then when I just think about it realistically,
- 7:58Speaker 1: if you have h you know, Parson and Penny back,
- 8:02Speaker 1: I'm not real sure what role he would play because
- 8:05Speaker 1: he's not he's not going to be, uh, you know,
- 8:07Speaker 1: a guy that just comes in, you know on third
- 8:10Speaker 1: down and catch passes. Uh. And he said the way
- 8:13Speaker 1: he runs the ball, he's more of a volume runner,
- 8:16Speaker 1: you know, where he kind of gets going and and
- 8:18Speaker 1: then you know in the third quarter when he's been
- 8:20Speaker 1: pounded on everyone, then people are you know, are tied
- 8:23Speaker 1: or tackling him. That's kind of when he kind of
- 8:25Speaker 1: does his thing. So I'm not real sure like where
- 8:27Speaker 1: he fits in. Um, it'd be cool to you know,
- 8:30Speaker 1: if he was just you know, if he could be
- 8:32Speaker 1: Marshawn and just be around the team. Uh, you know,
- 8:35Speaker 1: you know, maybe kind of like Cam Chance word was
- 8:38Speaker 1: while he was injured. But as far as a role
- 8:41Speaker 1: as a player on the team, I just don't if
- 8:43Speaker 1: you have all the pieces back, I'm not real sure
- 8:45Speaker 1: how he fits in. So in true Seahawk form, we're
- 8:50Speaker 1: moving forward. What does this team have to do to
- 8:53Speaker 1: get better next year? In what positions should they address
- 8:57Speaker 1: in the draft? Uh? Well, you know, I think you
- 9:01Speaker 1: can still um find some offensive weapons on the outside.
- 9:06Speaker 1: I still think there's there's another another receiver or two.
- 9:10Speaker 1: I light, you know, the locket and uh dk Metcalf,
- 9:14Speaker 1: but the other guys just I don't know, like they
- 9:16Speaker 1: just sometimes they show up and sometimes they don't. So
- 9:19Speaker 1: you need you need like some consistent threats right there. Uh.
- 9:22Speaker 1: They'll be awesome having Disley back. So that's kind of
- 9:24Speaker 1: like another draft pick and then of itself. Uh and
- 9:28Speaker 1: then I think, you know, depending on what you do
- 9:30Speaker 1: on defense with those uh, with the defensive line, like
- 9:32Speaker 1: you need some people that can get after the that
- 9:34Speaker 1: can get after the quarterback. Uh. If if Clowning's back,
- 9:38Speaker 1: it'd be great to have him back, but it also
- 9:40Speaker 1: would be great to have someone opposite him that can
- 9:43Speaker 1: that can take the pressure off of him. Uh. And
- 9:45Speaker 1: then that also opens it up for Read in the middle.
- 9:47Speaker 1: So I think there's some different pieces you can add
- 9:49Speaker 1: that way that kind of can help other people. So
- 9:52Speaker 1: you know, adding another pass rush it helps Read and
- 9:55Speaker 1: clown me if he's back, um, and then uh, and
- 9:57Speaker 1: then just keep developing the offensive line like those guys. Uh.
- 10:01Speaker 1: You know your parties, you know, older and beat up
- 10:04Speaker 1: and flukers is the same way. But they have some
- 10:07Speaker 1: good young dudes behind them, I think in in uh,
- 10:11Speaker 1: Phil Haynes and Jamarco Jones. But just adding depth to
- 10:15Speaker 1: that and then bringing in bringing more quality offensive lineman
- 10:18Speaker 1: because you can see the drop off when we went
- 10:21Speaker 1: from the starters to the to the second team guys,
- 10:24Speaker 1: and so just adding depth to that to that spot,
- 10:26Speaker 1: I think it will be important. Well. Ray sad to say,
- 10:30Speaker 1: this is the last time we'll get on Hawk Talk together.
- 10:33Speaker 1: Not the last time we'll talk, but the last time
- 10:36Speaker 1: we'll be on the podcast together. Man, we have appreciated
- 10:39Speaker 1: your insight all year. Thanks for taking time out. I
- 10:42Speaker 1: love you, big man. Yeah, I appreciate it. Brou and
- 10:45Speaker 1: not the last thing. I just want to say. It's like,
- 10:47Speaker 1: it's it's a weird feeling to not have any more
- 10:50Speaker 1: games to play, but to feel good about next year already,
- 10:53Speaker 1: Like like, even like driving home, I could not find
- 10:56Speaker 1: a reason to feel sad other than I'm not gonna
- 10:59Speaker 1: be with the guys, you know, talking football anymore. But
- 11:02Speaker 1: as it relates to the Seahawks, and I'm super excited
- 11:05Speaker 1: about next year already because they have a lot of
- 11:08Speaker 1: pieces and Russell Wilson. You know, you still have Russell Wilson,
- 11:11Speaker 1: you still have Bobby Wagener, and kJ Wright played played
- 11:14Speaker 1: really well this year. So I'm super excited about what's
- 11:18Speaker 1: gonna happen, what they're gonna do in the draft, and
- 11:20Speaker 1: the team they're gonna bring to the table next year.
- 11:22Speaker 1: All right, twelve Big Gray is excited. Y'all should be
- 11:24Speaker 1: excited too. Iologize peace. Alright, Moving right along, We're gonna
- 11:30Speaker 1: get to our main takeaways. What did we take away
- 11:33Speaker 1: from this game? First things First, Seahawks got dominated in
- 11:38Speaker 1: that first half. NAS twenty one to three is kind
- 11:41Speaker 1: of tough. And anytime you're on the road, you're at
- 11:43Speaker 1: lambeau Field, it's cold, you can't get anything going, you
- 11:45Speaker 1: can't stay on the field, you can't get stops. It
- 11:47Speaker 1: looked pretty bleak. But as bad as it looked, we've
- 11:51Speaker 1: watched this all season long with Russell Wilson, so you
- 11:54Speaker 1: knew they were gonna find a way to get back
- 11:56Speaker 1: in the game. You just wouldn't sure if they're gonna
- 11:58Speaker 1: run out of time. Yep, just ran out of time.
- 12:00Speaker 1: Another tech away. Russell Wilson took the game over in
- 12:03Speaker 1: the second half. Tell the two half. First half, couldn't
- 12:05Speaker 1: get nothing going. I think they were kind of giving
- 12:08Speaker 1: the run game a true chance. Second half, they say,
- 12:10Speaker 1: you know what, forget that Let number three be special,
- 12:13Speaker 1: toss that thing all around the field and make plays
- 12:15Speaker 1: with your feet. Well, you love seeing it too, because
- 12:17Speaker 1: he was at that point where was like, no, I'm
- 12:18Speaker 1: not siding. If I'm running, I'm getting the first down,
- 12:20Speaker 1: I'm putting my head down, and you just you just
- 12:22Speaker 1: love to see the grid and the toughness from him
- 12:24Speaker 1: because he said, listen, we're not losing this game, and
- 12:26Speaker 1: I'm gonna do everything in my power to get us back.
- 12:28Speaker 1: And he did, Yes, he did another techaway. Davanta Adams man,
- 12:32Speaker 1: I mean one hundred and sixty yards. I think you
- 12:35Speaker 1: threw a STATUT mean, yesterday every catch he made was
- 12:38Speaker 1: four first down Yes, I mean, what can you do?
- 12:41Speaker 1: This guy is a baller. I mean it's tough, man.
- 12:44Speaker 1: He was just an absolute backbreaker and he just I
- 12:47Speaker 1: mean to have eight catches for one hundred and sixty
- 12:49Speaker 1: and every single one of those go for first downs
- 12:52Speaker 1: two touchdowns. I mean, he was just he was a
- 12:55Speaker 1: difference in the game for the Green Bay offense. I
- 12:57Speaker 1: think Aaron Rodgers was eight of nineteen for ninety three
- 13:00Speaker 1: yards when targeting anyone else other than Adams, So he
- 13:03Speaker 1: was a damn problem. Yeah, he definitely was a problem.
- 13:06Speaker 1: The running game wasn't much of a factor yesterday. They
- 13:09Speaker 1: gave it a chance in the first half. I think
- 13:12Speaker 1: there was one series where Marshawn list touched the ball
- 13:15Speaker 1: three consecutive plays. Really trying to give it a chance.
- 13:18Speaker 1: Just wasn't happening. What did you see? It was tough
- 13:21Speaker 1: because the series you're talking about eight yards on first down, yea,
- 13:24Speaker 1: Then then I think you get one, and then you
- 13:26Speaker 1: get and then you get no game and you have
- 13:27Speaker 1: to punt and as good as Marshawn was because Marshawn
- 13:31Speaker 1: is special. If you get him inside the five, he's
- 13:34Speaker 1: gonna score. That is just who he is. And Ray
- 13:36Speaker 1: mentioned it he is a volume runner, so he's a
- 13:38Speaker 1: guy that needs twenty five carriers to wear people down.
- 13:41Speaker 1: And when I thought of that series specifically, this made
- 13:44Speaker 1: me think, Man, we really missed Chris Carson. Yeah, yeah,
- 13:47Speaker 1: well felt him for sure. Another thing we learned man,
- 13:50Speaker 1: Dwayne Brown, he's tough. We touched about it A touched
- 13:53Speaker 1: on with Ray, like knee surgery. You had tools in
- 13:57Speaker 1: your knee. Your knee was being operated him three weeks ago,
- 14:01Speaker 1: and now you're out lambo, feel worse code giving it
- 14:04Speaker 1: all you have. Dwayne Brown showed that hey, it ain't
- 14:07Speaker 1: all about the money. He cares about this game and
- 14:10Speaker 1: he cares about his team. He could have shut it down.
- 14:12Speaker 1: Are you kidding me? This is a This is a
- 14:13Speaker 1: twelve year that who's been there, done that in this
- 14:16Speaker 1: league has to get knee surgery and did everything he
- 14:20Speaker 1: could to come back. This man wasn't wasn't out there
- 14:23Speaker 1: practicing running right. He took it up to game time,
- 14:26Speaker 1: told the team the night before, hey, I'm gonna play
- 14:28Speaker 1: I'm gonna do what I gotta do. And it didn't
- 14:30Speaker 1: look like you could tell he was one hundred percent.
- 14:32Speaker 1: But it wasn't like, oh my god, that's a sheol
- 14:34Speaker 1: of Dwayne Brown. He was still out there, you know,
- 14:36Speaker 1: mixing it up with everybody, keeping Russell Wilson upright, And
- 14:40Speaker 1: there's you can't say enough about Dwayne Brown. I mean,
- 14:43Speaker 1: that is a guy that you want on your football
- 14:45Speaker 1: team and he just showed the leadership and everything about
- 14:48Speaker 1: him is just unreal and well, people don't understand this.
- 14:50Speaker 1: He's gonna feel this injury five years from now, six
- 14:54Speaker 1: years from him, when he wakes up in that knee hurts,
- 14:56Speaker 1: He's gonna think about Lambo. He sacrifices his well being
- 14:59Speaker 1: for this ball team. People need to tip their hats
- 15:02Speaker 1: off to Dwayne Brown. A last, but not least defensively,
- 15:05Speaker 1: the Seahawks played much better in the second half, but
- 15:08Speaker 1: just couldn't get the stops that they needed. Where do
- 15:11Speaker 1: they go wrong and what do you think needs to
- 15:13Speaker 1: change on the defensive side of the ball. It's tough, man,
- 15:16Speaker 1: I mean, it's I said yesterday, it's the money downs.
- 15:18Speaker 1: They they were not They could not get off the
- 15:20Speaker 1: field on third down, and you know, sorry side Tangent,
- 15:25Speaker 1: the Seahawks were right to punt the football on fourth
- 15:30Speaker 1: in eleven. I'm gonna yell for the people in the
- 15:33Speaker 1: back so you can hear me. That was the right call. Okay,
- 15:37Speaker 1: you have three timeouts, a two minute warning. They made
- 15:39Speaker 1: the right call, and honestly, it was just disappointing because
- 15:43Speaker 1: you just wanted to see Russell with a chance to
- 15:45Speaker 1: get the ball back again, and we just couldn't get
- 15:46Speaker 1: off the feal the third down. I think Aaron Rodgers
- 15:48Speaker 1: was like eight of ten or something like that on
- 15:51Speaker 1: third down, and it was tough, man. I mean, Davante
- 15:53Speaker 1: Adams killed us on a couple, yeah, the Jimmy Graham play,
- 15:56Speaker 1: and it was just it was just bust rating because
- 15:58Speaker 1: not only that, most of those third down were third
- 16:00Speaker 1: and seven, they were third and long and we couldn't
- 16:02Speaker 1: get off and that's definitely something that we need to
- 16:04Speaker 1: we need to fix, you know, moving forward, whether it's
- 16:07Speaker 1: getting more pressure on the quarterback and just finding ways
- 16:11Speaker 1: to develop in the secondary. Outside of Shaquille Griffin, Quandry
- 16:14Speaker 1: Dicks had unbelievable seasons. I think Trey Flowers had a
- 16:17Speaker 1: really good season. This year, he kind of struggled down
- 16:20Speaker 1: the stretch and it's just just figuring out ways to
- 16:22Speaker 1: get better in the secondary. Yep, forget your analytics. Four
- 16:26Speaker 1: to eleven. Come on, man, timeout, so let come on
- 16:29Speaker 1: stop it. It's just ridiculous. That is I cannot even
- 16:32Speaker 1: I can't believe that that was a conversation on social
- 16:35Speaker 1: media and people talking about that. It just doesn't make
- 16:37Speaker 1: any sense if you don't get it. It's first and
- 16:40Speaker 1: ten from your own thirty six, Like, what are we
- 16:42Speaker 1: talking about? Oh yeah, you gotta love it, you gotta
- 16:45Speaker 1: love the Twitter folks. All right, we're gonna move on
- 16:47Speaker 1: to top performers. We gotta talk about Russell Wilson twenty
- 16:50Speaker 1: one a thirty one two hundred seven to seven yards,
- 16:53Speaker 1: one touchdowns, let the team in rushing for the second
- 16:56Speaker 1: straight game. This guy was always as usual. He made
- 17:01Speaker 1: great decisions. I can honestly say this year, I've seen
- 17:05Speaker 1: Russell Wilson make five bathrows. Maybe yeah, like oh oh,
- 17:08Speaker 1: probably shouldn't have done that. But he's so responsible with
- 17:11Speaker 1: the football in his hands. He makes great decisions. He
- 17:14Speaker 1: has that never die mentality, and it was on full
- 17:17Speaker 1: display last night. His ability to prolonged place and find
- 17:21Speaker 1: something because green Bay defensively did really well their secondary.
- 17:24Speaker 1: A lot of times when we were worried about the
- 17:26Speaker 1: pass rush that we'd have the kind of more of
- 17:28Speaker 1: a mass protect look or it's a two man route,
- 17:30Speaker 1: and Russell did everything he could to keep place alive.
- 17:33Speaker 1: And I think one of the green Bay defensive lineman
- 17:35Speaker 1: was said compared to chasing a chicken around with no offense,
- 17:40Speaker 1: saying they like they just that's how special Russell Wilson is.
- 17:43Speaker 1: And he showed he's probably not gonna win the MVP.
- 17:45Speaker 1: We know Lamar Jackson's probably gonna get that, but Russell
- 17:47Speaker 1: Wilson showed that there's no one more valuable to their
- 17:52Speaker 1: team than Russell Wilson. I don't think it's close in
- 17:54Speaker 1: the whole league. Facts. Another top performer Tyler Lockett nine receptions,
- 17:58Speaker 1: one hundred and thirty six yards in one touchdown. Love
- 18:01Speaker 1: the stat line. What I liked the most out of
- 18:03Speaker 1: Tyler Lockett was the emotion that he showed. You can
- 18:06Speaker 1: tell this dude wanted to win this ball him ask Pete,
- 18:09Speaker 1: I go, was it the playoffs or you know what
- 18:12Speaker 1: got him going? They were they talking trash out there,
- 18:14Speaker 1: and he said he just wanted to be a part
- 18:17Speaker 1: of the game. He wanted to have an impact of
- 18:18Speaker 1: the game. And he showed that. He stood up in
- 18:20Speaker 1: front the team and told him he's going to give
- 18:22Speaker 1: everything that he had and the kid balled out last night. Well,
- 18:25Speaker 1: just the intensity, man, he makes a big play, gets
- 18:27Speaker 1: him with the helmet, they don't call, he stands up
- 18:30Speaker 1: and you know, I mean, I loved seeing the fire
- 18:32Speaker 1: out of him. He is probably the nicest guy on
- 18:35Speaker 1: this football team. But when it was game time, it
- 18:38Speaker 1: was a playoffs. His vision a round playoffs. Tyler got
- 18:40Speaker 1: out there and was a bad dude. And I just
- 18:42Speaker 1: love to see the swag and the confidence out of him.
- 18:44Speaker 1: And sir, next performer, Marshawn Lynch had twelve carries for
- 18:47Speaker 1: twenty six yards, but he had two touchdowns. And with
- 18:50Speaker 1: his two touchdowns, Marshawn Lynch has twelve career postseason rushing touchdowns,
- 18:54Speaker 1: which is tied for fourthmost all times with Trell Davis
- 18:58Speaker 1: and John Riggins. The guy scores forget the yards see
- 19:03Speaker 1: and and if you taper your expectations. Anyone who thought
- 19:07Speaker 1: Marshawn was gonna come out here and rush for a
- 19:09Speaker 1: hundred yards and look like he did in twenty crazy.
- 19:12Speaker 1: This is not real. He was brought here to do
- 19:15Speaker 1: exactly this, short yard score touchdowns. The guy is still
- 19:19Speaker 1: a tough you know what, Oh Mike inside the five,
- 19:22Speaker 1: it's a rap. You're giving him the ball. You know
- 19:23Speaker 1: he's gonna score. And I just love to see that
- 19:26Speaker 1: vintage kind of takes you back memory lane to see
- 19:28Speaker 1: twenty four bouncing off tacklers guys don't want touch him
- 19:31Speaker 1: and get in the end zone and to see him
- 19:33Speaker 1: get four touchdowns total and the time he was back
- 19:36Speaker 1: in three in the postseason was great to see. So
- 19:38Speaker 1: I asked Ray this, I'm gonna ask you. Do you
- 19:40Speaker 1: think Marshawn Lynch is back next year? Oh? Man? Never
- 19:43Speaker 1: say never? I guess right. I mean with a healthy
- 19:46Speaker 1: running back corps. I mean it, it'd be hard to
- 19:48Speaker 1: see to have four, but you never know, Man, I
- 19:51Speaker 1: love to see twenty four again. It was and if
- 19:53Speaker 1: he's not, it was just special to see that twenty
- 19:56Speaker 1: four and have him run out of the tunnel again
- 19:58Speaker 1: in the Seahawks uniform and just give us a little
- 20:01Speaker 1: bit more of that Marshaw magic Man. Do you think
- 20:03Speaker 1: they he's a ring of honor. I think they get
- 20:05Speaker 1: to put the twenty four up there. Oh, I think
- 20:06Speaker 1: they got you. I mean, that's that's a whole if
- 20:09Speaker 1: that's a whole different podcast for all the members of
- 20:12Speaker 1: this era of Pee Carroll. I mean, there's not enough
- 20:15Speaker 1: room in the stadium, Michelle the ring of honor memories, man,
- 20:17Speaker 1: because it's like where do you start drawing the line
- 20:19Speaker 1: of all these talented guys that were instrumental in all
- 20:22Speaker 1: these wins. So it's it's gonna be wild, but of course, yeah,
- 20:25Speaker 1: no doubt, all right, moving on to the receiver round
- 20:28Speaker 1: of like bench and Tyler Lockett had nine catches for
- 20:30Speaker 1: one thirty six, one touchdown, a long of thirty one
- 20:33Speaker 1: and he was flexing on him out there. Gotta love
- 20:36Speaker 1: this is we mentioned this a couple of weeks ago.
- 20:38Speaker 1: It's really weird where Tyler had one reception on like
- 20:41Speaker 1: seven targets and like, that's not I love that we
- 20:43Speaker 1: saw yesterday Boom ten targets, nine receptions. That's a Tyler
- 20:46Speaker 1: Locket game. That's a Tyler Locket game. DK Metcalf had
- 20:50Speaker 1: four catches fifty nine yards a long of twenty four
- 20:53Speaker 1: efficient as well when it comes to the targeting receptions ratio,
- 20:56Speaker 1: five targets four receptions. Might not have had the big
- 20:59Speaker 1: game that he had in Philly, but he's still made
- 21:01Speaker 1: some plays out there. Yeah, like you mentioned, he's improved
- 21:04Speaker 1: so much this year, whether it's how he's catching the football,
- 21:07Speaker 1: getting open, being a good possession receiver, running deep routes
- 21:10Speaker 1: all he has a full route tree. Everybody. Okay, I
- 21:13Speaker 1: think he proved that. Forget about the damn three cone drill.
- 21:16Speaker 1: Love to see what he saw from Metcalf this year.
- 21:17Speaker 1: Jacob Hollister had five catches on six targets for forty
- 21:21Speaker 1: seven yards. Hollister did a great job this year, filling in.
- 21:24Speaker 1: When you lose again, you lose dis Lee Van that
- 21:27Speaker 1: is gone. Mike gets hurt and he's seen, he's forced
- 21:31Speaker 1: to play. He's forced to play. I don't think they
- 21:33Speaker 1: were planning on playing Hollister this year. No, Hollister did
- 21:36Speaker 1: a great job. He wasn't on the roster to start
- 21:38Speaker 1: the year. He was on the practice squad. For him
- 21:39Speaker 1: to step in and have all the moments he ad
- 21:41Speaker 1: Where was the game ringing touchdown in Tampa, The great
- 21:44Speaker 1: performance he had of San Francisco and just doing everything
- 21:48Speaker 1: he could. Man, because Jacob Hollister, he takes a beating
- 21:50Speaker 1: out there, and he gets up play after play after play.
- 21:53Speaker 1: So I love, love to see that from Jacob. Travis
- 21:56Speaker 1: Homer had two receptions for twenty seven yards. Luke Wilson
- 21:59Speaker 1: had one for eight um. I mean, I just I
- 22:03Speaker 1: cannot stress just how proud I am of this group.
- 22:09Speaker 1: You know, you got a rookie receiver in DK who
- 22:11Speaker 1: knows what he's gonna do. You got the smallest one
- 22:14Speaker 1: of the smallest receivers in the league, and Tyler Lockett
- 22:17Speaker 1: balling out there. You got your fourth and third tight
- 22:20Speaker 1: end out there, and Jacob Hollister making plays. I mean,
- 22:23Speaker 1: almost every position took a hit except for the quarterback position.
- 22:28Speaker 1: And because of that, you can put anyone out there.
- 22:31Speaker 1: Russell is gonna allow them to flourish and put them
- 22:34Speaker 1: in positions to succeed. So now we're gonna go to
- 22:37Speaker 1: the coach's corner. We're gonna talk about the touchdown Russell
- 22:41Speaker 1: Wilson through to Tyler Lockett. It was a seven yard
- 22:43Speaker 1: touchdown and it came off of a twelve play eighty
- 22:47Speaker 1: four yard drive and took up about six minutes, Ross
- 22:50Speaker 1: takes it, slides through his right side, looking at the
- 22:53Speaker 1: end zone, looking looking now, Tyler Lockett slams up all
- 23:00Speaker 1: into the turf. If Russ gets outside and wait for
- 23:03Speaker 1: his receiver to one cover in the back of the
- 23:05Speaker 1: end zone from seven yards out, Seattle answers back to
- 23:09Speaker 1: the answer of the Packers and it's twenty eighth sixteen.
- 23:13Speaker 1: Now this play right here was was typical Russell Wilson
- 23:15Speaker 1: and Tyler Lockett. Is a tight bunch formation to the left.
- 23:19Speaker 1: The motion lock it over. It looks like Locker runs
- 23:22Speaker 1: and out up. Russell gets some pressure from an interior
- 23:25Speaker 1: defensive lineman, rolls outside the pocket, buys times a little pump,
- 23:30Speaker 1: uses eyes to move the safeties, delivers a strike, and
- 23:34Speaker 1: Misreliable sixteen gets up and slams the ball. It seems
- 23:38Speaker 1: like he was trying to puncture the earth. And when
- 23:40Speaker 1: he did it, Tyler Locket, I love it, Tyler Man,
- 23:43Speaker 1: you love to see it. I mean, if anything describes
- 23:47Speaker 1: the twenty nineteen Seattle Seahawks is a play like that.
- 23:49Speaker 1: Russell Wilson scrambling, making a play, finding Misreliable, Tyler Lockett
- 23:54Speaker 1: and spiking it down. Love it all right. So the
- 23:56Speaker 1: best thing two words grits in perseverance. This team had
- 24:03Speaker 1: a bunch of injuries, dealt with adversity and still found
- 24:06Speaker 1: their way into the playoffs and still had a chance
- 24:09Speaker 1: at the end of the season or a number one seed.
- 24:12Speaker 1: With all all all the things that happened to the
- 24:15Speaker 1: seat this year, this team is one of the most
- 24:17Speaker 1: resiled teams I've ever seen. I mean, think about I mean,
- 24:19Speaker 1: people really don't understand. You lose your starting center, lose
- 24:23Speaker 1: your starting tight end, use your top running backs. You're
- 24:26Speaker 1: losing your left tackle for a lot of time. You're
- 24:28Speaker 1: losing guards from time to time. You lose your starting linebacker,
- 24:31Speaker 1: Michael Kendricks. You lost a couple of safeties. Then Quandri
- 24:33Speaker 1: comes in, then he gets hurt, so he's out for
- 24:35Speaker 1: a couple of games. She killed Griffin, missed a couple
- 24:37Speaker 1: of games. I mean, it has been unbelievable. And then
- 24:41Speaker 1: you lost a couple other guys. Jared Reid started the year,
- 24:43Speaker 1: We missed him, we lost Gordon, we lost Outwoods. We
- 24:47Speaker 1: went through all this stuff this year and was still
- 24:50Speaker 1: had the ball under four minutes with a chance to
- 24:53Speaker 1: win the game and go to an NFC championship, And honestly,
- 24:57Speaker 1: I can't as disappointed as I am, mainly because selfishly,
- 25:01Speaker 1: like I love being around this team and doing what
- 25:03Speaker 1: we do and be able to cover the team week
- 25:05Speaker 1: to week. So I am disappointed and sad that we
- 25:07Speaker 1: won't continue to go on, But I am so damn
- 25:11Speaker 1: proud of this team. Words don't even describe. It's probably
- 25:14Speaker 1: one of the proudest I've been over any Seahawk team,
- 25:17Speaker 1: just for what they did to get to where they got. Yep,
- 25:19Speaker 1: super proud of this team. If they're healthy, I believe
- 25:21Speaker 1: they're playing last but not least. The future is bright.
- 25:25Speaker 1: Twenty twenty is gonna be fun. They got they have
- 25:29Speaker 1: pieces in place, and let's not forget who John Schneider
- 25:33Speaker 1: and Pete Carroll lock Ye, they're gonna make some moves.
- 25:35Speaker 1: They're gonna will, they're gonna deal. They're gonna get some
- 25:38Speaker 1: guys in here to fill out a couple of voids.
- 25:40Speaker 1: But big ups to the twenty nineteen Seattle Seahawks. No
- 25:46Speaker 1: one picked you guys to do anything this year. You overcame, resilient,
- 25:51Speaker 1: you fought through injuries. It was a heck of a run.
- 25:54Speaker 1: It ended short, but it's all good as long as
- 25:57Speaker 1: you got Russell Wilson, Bobby Wagner, kJ Right, j D.
- 25:59Speaker 1: Gotta get clowney signs, you get those guys. I think
- 26:03Speaker 1: this team will be fine and it's been real Thanks
- 26:06Speaker 1: for checking checking in with us every week with myself,
- 26:09Speaker 1: Michael Bump is my guy, NASA, Choby, Ray Roberts, Paul
- 26:13Speaker 1: Morier jumped on and had an episode with us. Love
- 26:17Speaker 1: you guys, talk to you soon. Hanging in there, Twelves
- 26:21Speaker 1: root against the Niners next week. We'll see you next time.
