Transcript
- 0:04SPEAKER_00: Hello! Welcome to Crafted Connections.
- 0:07SPEAKER_00: I'm Kayla Calhoun, and this is a podcast all about storytelling and building genuine community.
- 0:13SPEAKER_00: Here we'll dive into the art of storytelling, unpack strategies for making meaningful connections, and hear from incredible humans who are using their story to create impact.
- 0:23SPEAKER_00: So grab your favorite beverage, settle in, and let's craft some connections.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: Hello friends, and welcome back to Crafting Connections.
- 0:34SPEAKER_00: This is like a part two slash bonus episode.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: I interviewed Nikki Corbett, and she is kind of the reason that I finally like got my butt in the chair and started recording this podcast.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: I, you know, I've heard many a podcast over the years, making connection with her after we were in this content creation cohort thing together earlier in the year.
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: Something about her just like showing up on a regular basis and just connecting with people and not holding it so sacred, and then really meaningfully making these connections with people was like, I can do this.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: I just need to do it.
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: And so I kicked this off in April because of her, because of the interactions with her, because of what she was doing with her podcast round two podcast.
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: And since then, she has launched her new podcast, The Scarlet Edit, which is so raw and beautiful the way she is.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: Speaking of a relationship that she had, an affair with a married man for five years, and is now speaking of her experience in that, inviting others to come in, talk about their relationships, you know, divorce, affairs, situationships, even like long-term committed relationships.
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: What does that look like when you're 20 years in, 40 years in?
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: Like, it's a lot.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: We we need a space to process it.
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: So I'm so grateful for for someone like her to step in and be like, hey, I want to have these conversations.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: And this is after years of her experience with round two.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: She's she's launched this one that's so vulnerable and open and just really inviting a bunch of people in.
- 2:04SPEAKER_00: So with that, I went ahead and I pulled all of the questions that I asked her about podcasting, some of my own thoughts about podcasting so far.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: And so we had a little bit of a conversation within our conversation that was podcast-only talk.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: And so I heard that as I was editing, and I was like, this needs to be its own episode because I wanted Nikki's first episode to be about Nikki and her experiences and her travel and her current nomadic experiences.
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: And then I was like, and then let's have a podcast chat exclusive episode.
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: And so with that, take a listen.
- 2:37SPEAKER_00: Enjoy our shooting the shit when it comes to podcasting and just what it's like to try and show up consistently.
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: All right, appreciate you being here as always, my friends.
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: Enjoy.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: I want to talk podcast tips and tricks from your experience, right?
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: Because I'm a Crafted Connections baby at this moment.
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: But because you host typically, what question would you ask yourself or do you love to ask people?
- 3:03SPEAKER_02: You know, it's funny because I am so not on a script, right?
- 3:08SPEAKER_02: I just really love to just dive in with people and see how people are doing, what they want to talk about.
- 3:14SPEAKER_02: Some of my shows end up being very story-specific, right?
- 3:18SPEAKER_02: If somebody has like some really intense life-altering, you know, circumstance that they survived or they got on the other side of, or they chose and it drastically changed their life and they want to tell that story.
- 3:30SPEAKER_02: There's those types of conversations.
- 3:32SPEAKER_02: Then sometimes my shows end up being like a FaceTime with a friend and we're just shooting the shit, talking about anything that comes up.
- 3:38SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 3:39SPEAKER_02: Sometimes they're very lighthearted, sometimes they're very deep.
- 3:42SPEAKER_02: I think for me, it's less about the types of questions and it's more how my guests feel when they leave.
- 3:50SPEAKER_02: I love that.
- 3:50SPEAKER_02: And I always want my guests to feel that they shared a part of themselves, that, you know, maybe they learned a little bit about themselves through sharing something.
- 4:00SPEAKER_02: You know, I have had people say, like, oh my God, I've never shared that before, or I've never said it that way before.
- 4:04SPEAKER_02: And I'm like, oh, that's cool.
- 4:06SPEAKER_02: Cause that's like a nice like acknowledgement of self and of story.
- 4:09SPEAKER_02: So I just more want people to feel like comfortable and that they can say whatever they feel like saying.
- 4:16SPEAKER_00: Yeah, just opening that space to share their story.
- 4:19SPEAKER_00: And especially when it comes to story too, I I think it is such an individual by individual cyclical thing because you now is not the same as you three years ago or you 10 years ago, same with who you were going to be in three years from now or 10 years from now, right?
- 4:33SPEAKER_00: You kind of have to keep rinsing and repeating to be like, who am I today?
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: I imagine there was times before where you were like, yeah, this is kind of how I want to present myself.
- 4:41SPEAKER_00: This is my story, this is who I am.
- 4:43SPEAKER_00: And then, you know, now you're in flow, traveling, this, and you're like, ooh, that's not the same, that's not the same, Nikki.
- 4:50SPEAKER_00: So let's reevaluate, let's take a look so that we can share.
- 4:54SPEAKER_00: You come across someone to have on the pod, and then you're like, where are you now?
- 4:58SPEAKER_00: What's the timestamp, the fingerprint of this moment for you?
- 5:02SPEAKER_00: And I think that's very lovely.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: There are so many podcasts that I could look to and be like, oh yeah, this one makes me be like, Yeah, I can do this, I can start this.
- 5:12SPEAKER_00: But like, it's the format that you have, right?
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: It's the like, we're just gonna talk about you.
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: Cause a lot of people are like, here's the strategic theme, and we gotta keep it this way and the other.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: But like sometimes the theme is like, how do we have conversations with each other?
- 5:24SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 5:24SPEAKER_00: And so that I think I just really like that.
- 5:26SPEAKER_00: I like that take very much.
- 5:27SPEAKER_02: Yeah, thanks.
- 5:29SPEAKER_02: I mean, it's funny because I think I mentioned I'm going through this brand edit, and yeah, you know, a lot of it is like, you know, what is your brand like where?
- 5:35SPEAKER_02: What is your brand listened to?
- 5:37SPEAKER_02: Like, what did how would your brand present themselves at a party?
- 5:40SPEAKER_02: You know, what words do you want people to feel when they are associated with your brand?
- 5:45SPEAKER_02: And so, you know, for me, unapologetic is one that came up, like energized is one that came up.
- 5:52SPEAKER_02: I think that if you asked like my closest friends, what would they say?
- 5:56SPEAKER_02: I think one thing that they would say is that like I'm definitely like a hype girl, you know, I'm gonna build you up.
- 6:00SPEAKER_02: I want you to feel like you can do anything after you come and talk with me.
- 6:05SPEAKER_02: So I want people to feel that when they're on my show, but I also want people to feel like they don't need to feel badly for anything.
- 6:14SPEAKER_02: I mean, one thing that I've always prided myself on as a friend is that like it is a judgment-free zone.
- 6:22SPEAKER_02: I'm not gonna ever like make you feel like you're a piece of shit just for making decisions that like I wouldn't make, right?
- 6:30SPEAKER_02: You know, just because like you might do something, yeah, like and I wouldn't do it, that doesn't mean that it's a bad decision.
- 6:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 6:36SPEAKER_02: You know, so I've always told my friends, like, as long as you're not being like physically or emotionally harmed by somebody else or by yourself, like I will support you.
- 6:47SPEAKER_02: I might not choose that same journey, but I will support you.
- 6:51SPEAKER_02: And so I really want people to feel that way too because I know that I've made decisions in my life that other people wouldn't necessarily choose.
- 6:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 6:58SPEAKER_02: So who am I to sit there and say, like, oh, you shouldn't do that?
- 7:01SPEAKER_00: I love that thought because I think people do I don't know if it's a projection thing, this, that, and the other, but it's really nice to connect with people who understand that we all get to make our own decisions.
- 7:14SPEAKER_00: And then at the same time, we get to deal with the consequences, yeah.
- 7:17SPEAKER_00: Positive or negative as a result of that, you know?
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: Totally.
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: And it's important to recognize like the choices that we make.
- 7:24SPEAKER_00: And I'm I'm finding this with my entrepreneurial journey.
- 7:26SPEAKER_00: I'm finding it with early in my in my 20s when there were their body image issues.
- 7:30SPEAKER_00: Like the the healing thing has always been well, would I trade this experience with anyone else's?
- 7:37SPEAKER_00: Like, did I when I especially with the body image issues, I was like, do I want someone else's body?
- 7:42SPEAKER_00: I'm like, no, this is mine.
- 7:43SPEAKER_00: We've gone through it together, right?
- 7:45SPEAKER_00: And same thing with like the business journey, like up, down, all around.
- 7:48SPEAKER_00: I've worked for myself for a while, but like ultimately the downs, I'm like, those lessons are gold ultimately.
- 7:55SPEAKER_00: And so I love how you said that in in the sense of you've made some choices, maybe others wouldn't make those choices.
- 8:01SPEAKER_00: Maybe if you had the opportunity again in the future, you'd learn from that experience and you wouldn't do it again.
- 8:05SPEAKER_00: But like the fact that you got to do it for yourself and learn yourself as yourself is so important.
- 8:11SPEAKER_00: It totally is.
- 8:14SPEAKER_00: Hey y'all.
- 8:15SPEAKER_00: You know I love telling stories, gathering stories, and finding a way to help people connect their story with the people that will get it.
- 8:23SPEAKER_00: And that's what my story strategy sessions are all about.
- 8:26SPEAKER_00: So over at Calhoun Creative Consulting, my strategic storytelling firm, we do one-on-one and or facilitated workshops in relation to really honing in the strategy around your story.
- 8:38SPEAKER_00: It's a bit of messaging, meets content creation, meets storytelling, and then how do we put that out in the world?
- 8:44SPEAKER_00: How do we show up regularly?
- 8:45SPEAKER_00: There's a bit of mindset work around it, right?
- 8:47SPEAKER_00: To actually tell your story.
- 8:49SPEAKER_00: Whether you're launching something new or trying to rework your brand or just feeling a little foggy on how to communicate with your people, this is how to get clear.
- 8:55SPEAKER_00: We'll dig into things like your narrative, how to uncover what matters most, maybe map out a few content pillars while we're at it.
- 9:01SPEAKER_00: You'll also get a recording of our session so you can revisit the conversation anytime you like.
- 9:06SPEAKER_00: Let's shape a story that actually feels like you.
- 9:08SPEAKER_00: So book yours today.
- 9:09SPEAKER_00: There is a link in the show notes, and hey, while you're at it, use the code podcast, all caps, P-O-D-C-A-S-T for 25% off your session.
- 9:19SPEAKER_00: I would be honored to spend time with you and suss out your story.
- 9:23SPEAKER_00: Let's dive back into the episode, shall we?
- 9:28SPEAKER_00: So I published my ninth episode today.
- 9:31SPEAKER_00: Congratulations.
- 9:32SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 9:32SPEAKER_00: It's awesome.
- 9:33SPEAKER_00: The marathon is real.
- 9:34SPEAKER_00: I know you know this.
- 9:36SPEAKER_00: My marathon.
- 9:37SPEAKER_00: Because you're you're like 60-70 and something like that, right?
- 9:39SPEAKER_00: 75, 80?
- 9:40SPEAKER_02: I'm a I'm a little, I've recorded over 80, but I think I'm on like my 75th.
- 9:45SPEAKER_02: That's been something where it was released today.
- 9:47SPEAKER_02: I think it was 75.
- 9:48SPEAKER_00: So can you fill me in on the timeline again?
- 9:51SPEAKER_00: As far as like when you started round two?
- 9:53SPEAKER_00: What is round two podcasts and whatnot?
- 9:56SPEAKER_02: Sure.
- 9:56SPEAKER_02: So round two is an idea that came to me after I went through a divorce.
- 10:00SPEAKER_02: I one day was sitting there and I was just thinking about marriage and thinking about divorce, and like it was kind of like that, just round two kind of came into my my mind, like, okay, like what's next?
- 10:11SPEAKER_02: And then I started thinking more about marriage and how like I would hope 99% of people who enter into a marriage don't do so intending to get divorced, right?
- 10:18SPEAKER_02: You know, there's always some, but for the most part, so it's like you have this path and you're kind of like look forward and you're like, oh, okay, well, like we're married now.
- 10:26SPEAKER_02: And so this is what life will like look like, and these are the things we want to accomplish and all of that.
- 10:30SPEAKER_02: And then, you know, when that changes, all of a sudden you're on this other path going a different direction and figuring out like what's next for you.
- 10:37SPEAKER_02: So I started then thinking about like all of the people that I just knew in my own life who had gone through some sort of major life change, whether it was intentional, like they chose it for themselves, or if it was unexpected and they had no, like never saw it coming.
- 10:52SPEAKER_02: And I was able to make a list of like 40 people that I knew and had really cool stories.
- 10:59SPEAKER_02: Now, this was like 2018 when I came up with this idea.
- 11:02SPEAKER_02: Podcasts were definitely a thing, but they were less popular than they are now.
- 11:07SPEAKER_02: And TV talk shows were still really, really more at the forefront of people sharing their lives, right?
- 11:14SPEAKER_02: But if you think about like those TV magazine shows, right?
- 11:16SPEAKER_02: Whether it's like Good Morning America, the Today Show, often they're interviewing celebrities, athletes, people who, and yeah, those a lot of those people have really nice stories, but but those stories ultimately end up being like rags to riches.
- 11:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 11:28SPEAKER_02: And everyday people, we don't all have those types of stories, but we have really great stories.
- 11:34SPEAKER_02: We've overcome a lot of things, we've been through a lot of things, we've seen a lot of things.
- 11:39SPEAKER_02: And so I thought, God, that would be really cool to just tell like real stories of real people.
- 11:43SPEAKER_02: So I finally got off my butt and started doing it in 2022.
- 11:48SPEAKER_02: Every episode was just a Zoom recording.
- 11:51SPEAKER_02: I ripped the audio.
- 11:52SPEAKER_02: I did not edit at all, mainly because I didn't know how.
- 11:55SPEAKER_02: So I would just completely upload the file as it was.
- 11:59SPEAKER_02: I think I put out like 15 episodes that year.
- 12:02SPEAKER_02: And it was only over the course of like four months.
- 12:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 12:05SPEAKER_02: And then 2023 started, and I was kind of like, okay, I was a little light on guests, and I wasn't really sure.
- 12:11SPEAKER_02: I just wasn't really sure about a lot of things, to be perfectly honest with you.
- 12:15SPEAKER_02: Um, and then I started focusing on a few other things in life that just made the podcast kind of sit on its own or kind of like fall to the wayside.
- 12:24SPEAKER_02: You took a little break.
- 12:24SPEAKER_02: I didn't know that.
- 12:25SPEAKER_02: Did take a break, yeah.
- 12:27SPEAKER_02: And then last year, 2024, when I started the year as an entrepreneur, if you will, I was like, okay, I gotta get this podcast back because it was really fun and I really liked doing it.
- 12:37SPEAKER_02: Interestingly enough, the people that I had lined up, their round twos all happened to be, you know, into entrepreneurship.
- 12:42SPEAKER_02: So it kind of like dovetailed perfectly, right?
- 12:45SPEAKER_02: Well, then what started happening was I started getting reached out to by strangers.
- 12:51SPEAKER_02: The first email I got, I literally thought it was a fake.
- 12:54SPEAKER_02: I thought it was like one of those like Prince of Nigeria, like, I'll give you millions of dollars type email.
- 12:59SPEAKER_02: I like didn't believe it at all.
- 13:00SPEAKER_02: But I gotta hand it to this PR girl.
- 13:02SPEAKER_02: She kept emailing me.
- 13:03SPEAKER_00: Nice.
- 13:04SPEAKER_02: So finally I met with the guy who she wanted to connect me with.
- 13:07SPEAKER_02: He's completely legit, completely awesome, has tons of like thousands and thousands of followers.
- 13:12SPEAKER_02: And I was like, Huh?
- 13:13SPEAKER_02: So I interviewed him.
- 13:15SPEAKER_02: And as all of that was transpiring, it was over the first couple of weeks that I was in Europe.
- 13:20SPEAKER_02: And I think by the time I recorded with him, I had had like 12 strangers reach out to me to be on the show.
- 13:26SPEAKER_02: And I just remember texting my family and being like, You guys, somebody else emailed me.
- 13:31SPEAKER_02: And my mind was just consistently blown.
- 13:33SPEAKER_02: And I was like, these strangers who have these really cool lives and big jobs and have accomplished all this cool stuff want to come and talk to me.
- 13:41SPEAKER_02: So I just kept going.
- 13:42SPEAKER_02: And so I was putting out one episode a week through the end of the year last year, and it had it was really heavy on entrepreneurship.
- 13:49SPEAKER_02: And I met some amazing people, told some wonderful stories, but I really did miss the original concept.
- 13:55SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 13:56SPEAKER_02: So when this new year 25 started, I was like, okay, I'm really focusing on finding like those types of guests.
- 14:03SPEAKER_02: There's still like some business stories that pop in here and there.
- 14:06SPEAKER_02: Because oftentimes what I have learned through all of this is that oftentimes when you do have a major life change, especially personally, it does usually change your business or your job or your career trajectory or whatever.
- 14:18SPEAKER_02: But the coolest part about podcasting, at least for me, is because it's mine, like it doesn't matter that like it keeps evolving.
- 14:27SPEAKER_02: And it doesn't matter that it keeps changing because I'm doing what feels like in alignment with me.
- 14:31SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 14:32SPEAKER_02: I mentioned at the top of this, I'm like actually getting ready to pivot it a little bit more.
- 14:37SPEAKER_02: And that's gonna be more in alignment with me.
- 14:40SPEAKER_02: And I'm so like fired up for this next evolution of round two and the stories that I'll get to share and the conversations that I'll get to have with people.
- 14:51SPEAKER_02: Um so yeah, I can't wait to put all of that out into the world.
- 14:55SPEAKER_00: I can't wait to see it.
- 14:56SPEAKER_00: What around what time do you think you're gonna like kind of announce the pivot and whatnot?
- 15:00SPEAKER_02: I'm thinking probably mid to end of June is my guess.
- 15:04SPEAKER_02: Like because I I have a few things that I it still is like raw, right?
- 15:08SPEAKER_02: And then, you know, I'm working on like the website and all these different things.
- 15:12SPEAKER_02: So just everything kind of gets a nice clean refresh all at once.
- 15:16SPEAKER_00: Nice.
- 15:17SPEAKER_00: That feels good for the summer.
- 15:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I love that.
- 15:20SPEAKER_00: So stay tuned.
- 15:22SPEAKER_00: Oh, I love it.
- 15:24SPEAKER_00: Nikki, thank you so much for joining me.
- 15:27SPEAKER_00: Of course.
- 15:28SPEAKER_00: Is there anything else that you want to share about what's next?
- 15:30SPEAKER_02: I mean, it's funny.
- 15:32SPEAKER_02: Getting everything in alignment like feels so good.
- 15:35SPEAKER_02: And I am just so excited because I feel like it's finally like that one thing that I've like figured out that I've been struggling to figure out for quite some time.
- 15:46SPEAKER_02: Everyone can expect some awesome, awesome conversations, really like redefining some of the ways that things are talked about and looked at and being unapologetically myself along with whoever comes into my world.
- 16:02SPEAKER_02: So yeah.
- 16:04SPEAKER_02: So I'm looking forward to more podcasting.
- 16:05SPEAKER_02: I'm looking forward to getting out there on stage and speaking.
- 16:08SPEAKER_02: I'm working on a speech, I guess.
- 16:11SPEAKER_02: I see it's so weird saying a speech because I feel like I'm giving a speech on like blah, blah, blah.
- 16:15SPEAKER_02: But I mean, like, that's essentially what it is.
- 16:17SPEAKER_02: 100%.
- 16:17SPEAKER_00: I mean, when you're a speaker, it's a speech.
- 16:19SPEAKER_00: But we don't usually say it that way.
- 16:21SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 16:21SPEAKER_00: That's interesting.
- 16:21SPEAKER_02: That's isn't that seem isn't it seem like a weird word?
- 16:24SPEAKER_02: It is, yeah.
- 16:25SPEAKER_00: Because it throws you back to like high school, right?
- 16:28SPEAKER_00: When you have like speech class or whatever, or like 101 in college.
- 16:31SPEAKER_00: Anyways, yeah.
- 16:32SPEAKER_00: Oh my goodness.
- 16:33SPEAKER_00: Cool.
- 16:34SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 16:34SPEAKER_00: Speaking, I like that.
- 16:36SPEAKER_00: I don't think I've seen that like as I've kind of been in touch with you on the interweb.
- 16:40SPEAKER_00: So that's really cool to hear.
- 16:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's definitely well, it's funny.
- 16:44SPEAKER_02: It's something that I've I've always loved speaking, whether it was like at work or, you know, when I was in my sorority and I'd have to give a talk to the whole chapter or whatever it may be.
- 16:53SPEAKER_02: I've always really loved it.
- 16:55SPEAKER_02: And so I'll share this.
- 16:56SPEAKER_02: So there's a woman who I had on my podcast.
- 16:58SPEAKER_02: Her name is Catherine Giovanni.
- 17:00SPEAKER_02: So if you want to go look up her episode on my podcast round two, you should because she is so cool.
- 17:06SPEAKER_02: She teaches people how to forgive, which is a fascinating concept.
- 17:12SPEAKER_02: And I think she is absolutely brilliant, but she's also clairvoyant.
- 17:15SPEAKER_02: So she and I had some conversations off camera where she told me that I am meant to be on stage sharing a story and that there are people that need to hear from me.
- 17:25SPEAKER_02: And I was like, love, I was like, I love this.
- 17:29SPEAKER_02: This is the coolest thing ever.
- 17:30SPEAKER_02: So it got me working on what I want to talk about, which eventually has led to this like personal brand and kind of like podcast shift in direction as far as what types of conversations we'll be having.
- 17:42SPEAKER_02: So I definitely owe Catherine a big hug when I eventually meet her in person someday because hearing that was kind of like the final push I needed to like really get that ball rolling.
- 17:53SPEAKER_02: Perfect.
- 17:54SPEAKER_00: That's that's so great.
- 17:55SPEAKER_00: I also like want to nod to the fact that like how we can get so close to people that we've never met in person.
- 18:00SPEAKER_02: Oh my god, it's so cool.
- 18:01SPEAKER_00: It's so cool.
- 18:02SPEAKER_00: It is so cool.
- 18:02SPEAKER_00: We live in such an awesome time.
- 18:05SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it is.
- 18:06SPEAKER_02: And I mean, that's another reason why podcasts I think are so important.
- 18:09SPEAKER_02: And oh, you know, kind of going back to what you were saying earlier, like, you know, podcasting is such a long game, you know, it's it's not, it's a marathon, not a sprint.
- 18:17SPEAKER_02: And I that's like that's why that data and why I I share that data from, you know, when they gets put out each month about like how many podcasters there are, how many people quit, how many people don't even make it to 10 episodes, you know.
- 18:30SPEAKER_00: Right, like next week when I release, you know, episode 10 on Thursday, it's like I'm gonna get myself a drink, you know?
- 18:38SPEAKER_00: Just like absolutely you gotta celebrate.
- 18:40SPEAKER_02: You have to celebrate the little wins along the way because it is so important.
- 18:44SPEAKER_02: And you'll look back too, and you will hear clips of yourself, and you will be like, oh my God, I've got so much better.
- 18:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 18:55SPEAKER_02: And you won't even realize it because you just keep going, right?
- 18:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 18:58SPEAKER_02: And then you'll go back and listen to something from you know, this first season, and you'll be like, Whoa, I've gotten better at this.
- 19:05SPEAKER_02: And that's a really cool realization.
- 19:07SPEAKER_00: No, I love that.
- 19:08SPEAKER_00: I also even in the short term, what I am proud of, like having a commercial production background, I am proud of like just honestly, some of the stuff I'm publishing, like, you know, my commercial production ear would be like, Why are you letting that audio go out?
- 19:22SPEAKER_00: And it's like, no, like we just gotta get it out.
- 19:24SPEAKER_00: Like, I'm not that happy with the audio intro right now, but like Oh, I was gonna tell you, I really like it.
- 19:30SPEAKER_00: Yay!
- 19:30SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I was like, it's funny because I was listening to one of your episodes the other day, and I was like, man, you can tell she like is experienced in putting this stuff together because it just sounds really good.
- 19:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 19:40SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
- 19:41SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, it's I mean the editing, right?
- 19:42SPEAKER_00: I mean, and that goes to like what you're talking about.
- 19:44SPEAKER_00: Well, but even like your intro, and then like your little, you're you're you're plugging your own business in there, which you absolutely should be doing.
- 19:50SPEAKER_02: I mean, no, it sounds I was literally like, oh, she's doing good already.
- 19:55SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I'm gonna do that.
- 19:55SPEAKER_00: Thank you for thanks for cheering me on.
- 19:57SPEAKER_00: And honestly, I just I cannot, I was thinking about it as I was getting ready for our episode today or our talk today.
- 20:02SPEAKER_00: I was like, oh, I literally finally got my butt out of the chair because of you.
- 20:07SPEAKER_00: So you gotta love that.
- 20:09SPEAKER_00: You gotta know you're doing the good work out there.
- 20:11SPEAKER_00: I appreciate you.
- 20:12SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
- 20:12SPEAKER_02: Well, I'm really proud of you.
- 20:13SPEAKER_02: I can't wait to see how you like get it growing and going and keep going.
- 20:18SPEAKER_02: And starts by just making an episode by episode, right?
- 20:21SPEAKER_02: Like absolutely and it's good that you're ahead because like I'll tell I tell you, I'm already I'm I already have enough episodes in the bank through middle of July.
- 20:30SPEAKER_00: Oh, great, great.
- 20:31SPEAKER_02: And like people like are forgiving about the timeline of release, right?
- 20:35SPEAKER_02: Oh, but they totally are.
- 20:36SPEAKER_02: No, because here's the thing most people are just excited that someone wants to share their story.
- 20:40SPEAKER_02: Majority of people that I meet with are either actively on shows and they totally get it, especially if they have a show themselves, they totally get it.
- 20:51SPEAKER_02: Especially if they have a show themselves, yeah.
- 20:52SPEAKER_02: Yeah, exactly that.
- 20:54SPEAKER_02: You know, but then sometimes there's people who are like, I've never done this before.
- 20:57SPEAKER_02: And I'm like, okay, cool.
- 20:58SPEAKER_02: Like, I got you, you know.
- 20:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 21:00SPEAKER_02: Um, I try not to get too too too far ahead.
- 21:03SPEAKER_02: Like, so I am gonna take a recording break for a few weeks, which I am looking forward to.
- 21:07SPEAKER_02: I'm not gonna lie.
- 21:07SPEAKER_02: No, I believe that.
- 21:08SPEAKER_00: Well, no, you look at a week and you're like, I have two or three interviews this week.
- 21:11SPEAKER_00: How did that happen?
- 21:12SPEAKER_00: I'm tired looking at that schedule.
- 21:15SPEAKER_02: No, it's so true.
- 21:16SPEAKER_02: And I love my people, so it's fine, but it is and once you get on, you're like, oh, okay.
- 21:21SPEAKER_02: But like, I mean, I've got off shows before where I'm like hang up and I'm like, I need a glass of wine and sunshine.
- 21:27SPEAKER_00: Like, you know, all the ingredients for a good day.
- 21:31SPEAKER_02: Very good.
- 21:32SPEAKER_02: I love it.
- 21:33SPEAKER_02: Being ahead is the best because then you like don't feel you because here's the thing the algorithm rewards consistency.
- 21:39SPEAKER_02: Even though it seems like it might not, you might be like, yay, like 15 downloads, like, okay, but like the algorithm does reward consistency.
- 21:48SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 21:49SPEAKER_02: So if you keep putting it out, if you're like, I release Thursdays at nine, like just keep Thursdays at nine, you know.
- 21:55SPEAKER_00: Right, it's the time.
- 21:56SPEAKER_00: Right now, I'm like, we're doing Thursdays, which is great, right?
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: Like, even my episode last week, I I ended up kind of going into like the 5 p.m., 6 p.m.
- 22:04SPEAKER_00: mark, but hey, she got out.
- 22:06SPEAKER_00: When you look at like the thing, it's like, oh, every Thursday, look at her go.
- 22:10SPEAKER_00: And if we can do that, that's a good goal.
- 22:12SPEAKER_00: But I love it.
- 22:12SPEAKER_00: I appreciate you.
- 22:14SPEAKER_00: Thank you so much for the inspiration and the time today.
- 22:16SPEAKER_00: Absolutely.
