- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:04Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Playfake going to roll right, dumps it off into the
- 0:07Speaker 2: right flass to Michael Bumpers, who bounce us off A
- 0:09Speaker 2: one tackler gets inside the forty down of the thirty
- 0:12Speaker 2: five yard line.
- 0:13Speaker 1: Powered by Seahawks dot Com.
- 0:15Speaker 2: Matt pumpfake's looking at the gold line. He throws it
- 0:17Speaker 2: into the m zone. Touchdown, Say Hawks, it's Michael Thumps
- 0:21Speaker 2: with a diving catching the end zone. A ten yard
- 0:24Speaker 2: touchdown reception for Bumpus, and the kid out of Washington
- 0:28Speaker 2: State has found himself a place.
- 0:30Speaker 1: On this team.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Now here's your host, Nasa Choviie.
- 0:34Speaker 3: Welcome into another edition of Hawk Talk this season, regular
- 0:38Speaker 3: season Week eleven, Seahawks traveling lay to take on the Rams,
- 0:42Speaker 3: fresh off their thrilling twenty nine to twenty six victory
- 0:45Speaker 3: over the Washington Commanders. And before we get into those, guys,
- 0:48Speaker 3: just want to give you a little update from the
- 0:50Speaker 3: practice field. Veteran second year player now Abe Lucas, I
- 0:54Speaker 3: call him a veteran because he's an OG has been
- 0:56Speaker 3: designated to return to practice, which is great. Carol talked
- 1:00Speaker 3: about that last week, but very good to see him
- 1:02Speaker 3: out there. In his absence, We've seen Jake Kerhan, We've
- 1:05Speaker 3: seen still a fourth eight, We've seen Jason Peters out there,
- 1:08Speaker 3: so really good to see. But just a reminder, when
- 1:11Speaker 3: people coming off the IR can be designated or turn
- 1:13Speaker 3: to practice. That means they can practice for up to
- 1:16Speaker 3: twenty one days without being added to the roster. When
- 1:18Speaker 3: those twenty one days are over, then the team needs
- 1:21Speaker 3: to make a decision whether to elevate them the rest of
- 1:23Speaker 3: the year or keep them on IR.
- 1:24Speaker 1: So definitely good. I know Bump is happy to see.
- 1:27Speaker 3: His Koup back out there, a bluecas back on the
- 1:30Speaker 3: practice field.
- 1:31Speaker 1: But let's flip it over to the team we're playing
- 1:33Speaker 1: this weekend, La Rams. What's on tap? What's on tap? Bump?
- 1:42Speaker 3: These Rams three in six, third place in the NFC West.
- 1:47Speaker 3: They did have a shocking win over the Seahawks in
- 1:49Speaker 3: week one, beating them thirty two thirteen. They've lost games
- 1:52Speaker 3: to San Francisco, Cincinnati, Indiana or beat Indianapolis, lost of Philly,
- 1:56Speaker 3: lost to Pittsburgh, lost to Dallas, and lost to Green
- 1:59Speaker 3: Bay in the midst of a three game losing streak,
- 2:02Speaker 3: and they were competitive early on against the forty nine
- 2:05Speaker 3: ers and the Bengals and the Eagles. Last three weeks Bump,
- 2:08Speaker 3: they've been getting snickety smacked. It has not been close
- 2:11Speaker 3: as not being competitive the way that you'd think it
- 2:14Speaker 3: would be, so they're kind of in a weird place.
- 2:18Speaker 3: Matthew Stafford got hurt against the Cowboys. They turned to
- 2:20Speaker 3: Brett Rippon. Shout out to the Washington alumn there, Brett,
- 2:24Speaker 3: and then things did go well for Brett when he
- 2:26Speaker 3: filled in for Stafford, so unfortunately for him, they released
- 2:30Speaker 3: him the next week. But he's been snatched up by
- 2:32Speaker 3: the right team, the Seahawks. He's on the Seahawks practice
- 2:34Speaker 3: quite now, but head coach Sean McVay did talk about
- 2:38Speaker 3: the Rams are getting more healthy. Matthew Stafford looks like
- 2:40Speaker 3: he will be back this week, as well as Rob
- 2:43Speaker 3: havistin the right tackle, Ernest Jones their linebacker, and Bobby
- 2:47Speaker 3: Brown looks like they'll also be back this week. The
- 2:50Speaker 3: Rams also added Carson Wentz to kind of elevate that
- 2:54Speaker 3: qb room. So a lot of things going on in
- 2:56Speaker 3: La Bump. Yeah, man, lots of things going on in
- 2:59Speaker 3: that quarterback room. I think Carson wentz Man.
- 3:00Speaker 4: He's a veteran, right, he'll make things a bit more
- 3:03Speaker 4: comfortable if Matthew Stafford were to go down. But let's
- 3:06Speaker 4: look at this team head to head, man the Seahawks
- 3:08Speaker 4: are six and three, Rams three and six. When it
- 3:11Speaker 4: comes to total offense, the Rams on paper, in with
- 3:14Speaker 4: the numbers, have a better offense than the Seattle Seahawks.
- 3:17Speaker 4: The Ring fourteenth overall, the Hawks are eighteen. Running the rock,
- 3:20Speaker 4: the Hawks are twenty fourth. The Rams are seventeenth.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Drawing the rock.
- 3:23Speaker 4: The Rams are fourteenth, the Hawks are thirteenth. When it
- 3:26Speaker 4: comes to points per game, that's where the Hawks got them.
- 3:29Speaker 4: They're averaging twenty two points per game. The Rams are
- 3:32Speaker 4: averaging nineteen point eight per game. Now, defense, again, this
- 3:36Speaker 4: surprised me too. Now look at this, I go, there's
- 3:38Speaker 4: no way the Rams statistically have a better defense than
- 3:42Speaker 4: the Hawks. Yeah, I guess they dos ranked twentieth. The
- 3:45Speaker 4: Seahawks are ranked twenty fifth. I look at those numbers
- 3:50Speaker 4: and I go, all right, man, one bad game kind
- 3:52Speaker 4: of skewed all these numbers.
- 3:53Speaker 1: But you know what it is, what it is. You
- 3:55Speaker 1: have to take the good and the bad.
- 3:56Speaker 4: I still think on paper, personnel wise, this defense and
- 4:00Speaker 4: offense is better.
- 4:01Speaker 1: Are better than the Rams.
- 4:04Speaker 3: Yeah, man, when you look at that, I mean, it's
- 4:06Speaker 3: it's bizarre too, because you look at some of the
- 4:08Speaker 3: scores and you like, dang, the Rams have lost six games,
- 4:11Speaker 3: and some of them by a lot. But like you said,
- 4:13Speaker 3: losing thirty seven to three to the Ravens really skewed
- 4:16Speaker 3: all of these especially defensively, because they were really making
- 4:19Speaker 3: a climb back and where they were in all these rankings,
- 4:21Speaker 3: and then that kind of set them back. But yeah, Bob,
- 4:24Speaker 3: I'm the one thing that I like. I like the
- 4:27Speaker 3: turnover differential. The Rams re minus two, the Seahawks were
- 4:30Speaker 3: plus three. Then you look at sacks. The Seahawks have
- 4:32Speaker 3: thirty sacks and Rams only have nineteen. So there's a
- 4:35Speaker 3: couple of little advantage here and there. But statistically you're
- 4:38Speaker 3: right on paper, despite the opposite records, the Rams have
- 4:41Speaker 3: the slight edge. But as you said, I think the
- 4:44Speaker 3: roster's a little bit better for the Seahawks. But these
- 4:47Speaker 3: teams play all the time, every year, twice a year.
- 4:49Speaker 1: Let's know.
- 4:50Speaker 3: To history, no your history, Bob, I'm gonna be quick here, man.
- 4:55Speaker 3: I think this was recent enough that it's still kind
- 4:58Speaker 3: of I'm happy to think us got over it. Seahawks
- 5:00Speaker 3: lost their last game at home in the season open
- 5:03Speaker 3: and losing thirty to thirteen to these Rams. The all
- 5:06Speaker 3: time series, the Seahawks are twenty seven and twenty five,
- 5:09Speaker 3: with the Rams having two edge in the postseason, but
- 5:11Speaker 3: bumped that first game.
- 5:12Speaker 1: Man shoot tail two halfs man.
- 5:14Speaker 3: The Seahawks didn't pun in the first half, but pun
- 5:16Speaker 3: in every possession of the second half. The Rams scored
- 5:19Speaker 3: on every drive of the second half. The Rams dominated
- 5:22Speaker 3: time possession. They also did this without Cooper Cup and
- 5:25Speaker 3: that was kind of the league's introduction to Poka Nakua.
- 5:29Speaker 3: Seahawks scored just one touchdown that day. Third downs were
- 5:32Speaker 3: brutal Hawks or two of nine. Rams were eleven to seventeen.
- 5:35Speaker 3: I mentioned it at well Nicula. Each had one hundred
- 5:37Speaker 3: nineteen yards rushing or receiving, so they went off. And
- 5:41Speaker 3: one of the only positives that day was Bobby had
- 5:43Speaker 3: nineteen tackles in his return to Seattle. So definitely a
- 5:46Speaker 3: day the Seahawks would love to forget, and really just
- 5:48Speaker 3: a half they'd love to forget.
- 5:49Speaker 1: People forget the Seahawks were winning that game. At halftime.
- 5:51Speaker 3: It just looked so ugly in the second half that
- 5:54Speaker 3: it didn't go their way and it lost thirty to thirteen.
- 5:57Speaker 3: But that's in the past. Seahawks were playing a lot
- 5:59Speaker 3: better ball, the Rams were playing a lot less ball.
- 6:01Speaker 3: So we'll figure out what's going on there. But that's
- 6:04Speaker 3: a great segue to figure out what else happened in
- 6:06Speaker 3: the NFCUS.
- 6:07Speaker 1: What's the word?
- 6:10Speaker 4: What side side?
- 6:13Speaker 1: Now?
- 6:13Speaker 2: The Seahawks or the NFC West champs?
- 6:15Speaker 1: Again, what's the word in the West? On Hawk talk?
- 6:21Speaker 4: I just kind of crowded at the top in the
- 6:23Speaker 4: NFC West. He got the Seahawks at six and three,
- 6:26Speaker 4: the Niners of six and three as well.
- 6:27Speaker 1: He talks about the Rams.
- 6:29Speaker 4: They are three and six, and then the Cardinals get
- 6:30Speaker 4: to win last week they are two in able. Let's
- 6:34Speaker 4: focus on these forty nine ers and were they able
- 6:37Speaker 4: to bounce back after a bye week? Yes, they were, Man,
- 6:39Speaker 4: they beat the Jacks thirty four to three on the road.
- 6:42Speaker 1: Man.
- 6:43Speaker 4: Going into the bye, they lost three games in a row,
- 6:45Speaker 4: and this team looked different than the one we remember.
- 6:47Speaker 4: They were all world all team can lose a game,
- 6:49Speaker 4: but then they got humbled a little bit. Rock party
- 6:52Speaker 4: got back on track. He was nineteen of twenty six
- 6:54Speaker 4: for two ninety six and three touchdowns, had a QB
- 6:56Speaker 4: rating of one forty nine. One of those touchdowns win
- 7:00Speaker 4: s George Kittle, who have three receptions for a buck sixteen.
- 7:02Speaker 4: Goodness gracious and the sixty six yard touchdowns. Ain't too
- 7:06Speaker 4: many tight ends taking his sixty six yards for a touchdown,
- 7:08Speaker 4: He's one of them. Christian McCaffrey, he had a great finish.
- 7:11Speaker 4: He had one hundred and forty two yards, but his
- 7:13Speaker 4: streak of consecutive games with a touchdown ended at seventeen.
- 7:16Speaker 4: And they were trying to give it to him too.
- 7:18Speaker 4: They were trying to keep that thing going, just not
- 7:20Speaker 4: able to do it. He was tied with Lindy Moore
- 7:22Speaker 4: for the NFL record. The Nighters tried to get him
- 7:24Speaker 4: the ball, like I said, targeting him on five consecutive plays,
- 7:28Speaker 4: but just weren't able to get a domn I appreciate
- 7:31Speaker 4: the forty nine ers understanding history and saying let's get
- 7:34Speaker 4: our guy to rop.
- 7:35Speaker 1: But you hear McCaffrey talk about it after the game.
- 7:37Speaker 4: He appreciates it too and was like, look, we got
- 7:40Speaker 4: the win, so it's all good Deebo Samuel returned to
- 7:43Speaker 4: lineup as well. He had a twenty three yard touchdown,
- 7:45Speaker 4: and San Francisco dominated both lines of scrimmage and controlled
- 7:48Speaker 4: the game from the opening drive. The Niners ran for
- 7:50Speaker 4: a buck forty four against one of the league's top
- 7:53Speaker 4: run defenses and sacked Trevor Lawrence five times. Now, the Jags,
- 7:57Speaker 4: they're a good team, but you know when you play
- 7:59Speaker 4: against that night defense, things are going to happen. And
- 8:01Speaker 4: Jacks had a five possession stretch in which they fumbled,
- 8:05Speaker 4: they kicked the field goal, they threw an interception, they fumbled,
- 8:08Speaker 4: and through another interception.
- 8:10Speaker 1: It was a tough day for these guys, say.
- 8:12Speaker 3: The least, Yeah, you turned the ball over on four
- 8:15Speaker 3: to five possessions. You're not gonna win a lot of
- 8:17Speaker 3: games in any league that you're playing. And you mentioned
- 8:21Speaker 3: real quick about Shanahan trying to give him the record.
- 8:23Speaker 3: You try to get your guy record to a point
- 8:25Speaker 3: and then you're like, this is a blowout. This is
- 8:28Speaker 3: going to look real bad. If we're trying to get
- 8:29Speaker 3: him a touchdown, he gets hurt. So unfortunately for him,
- 8:33Speaker 3: he didn't get that record. Elsewhere in the division, the
- 8:35Speaker 3: Falcons and the Cardinals. You mentioned it, bump the Cardinals.
- 8:39Speaker 3: Look at them getting another win. Okay, I see Kyler, Yeah,
- 8:43Speaker 3: Kyler Murray made his trump a return after his Cardinals
- 8:46Speaker 3: had lost six consecutive games, hadn't won a game since
- 8:49Speaker 3: September twenty fourth, where they beat the Cowboys. Murray threw
- 8:53Speaker 3: for two hundred and forty nine yards and ran for
- 8:55Speaker 3: a touchdown, obviously returning from that torn acl Matt Prater
- 8:59Speaker 3: made a game winning twenty five three yard field goal
- 9:00Speaker 3: as time expired, and the Cardinals beat the Falcons twenty
- 9:03Speaker 3: five to twenty three. Murray had a couple of really
- 9:05Speaker 3: important plays on the game winning drive, you know, reminding
- 9:09Speaker 3: people why he was the number one pick slightly just
- 9:11Speaker 3: to get a sense of what their offense can look like.
- 9:14Speaker 3: He had a big thirteen yard scramble on a third
- 9:16Speaker 3: and ten after almost being sacked multiple times. Then he
- 9:19Speaker 3: hit Trey McBride on a thirty three yard pass that
- 9:22Speaker 3: set up that short field goal to win the game.
- 9:24Speaker 3: James Connrad had sixteen carries for seventy three yards, but
- 9:27Speaker 3: Trey McBride was the guy of the day there, leading
- 9:30Speaker 3: receiver one hundred and thirty one yards.
- 9:31Speaker 1: On eight catches.
- 9:33Speaker 3: On the other side, woo. The Falcons look brutal man
- 9:36Speaker 3: both quarterbacks and lent to their stat line real quick.
- 9:38Speaker 3: Heineke and Desmond Ridder twelve to twenty one, seventy yards total,
- 9:44Speaker 3: one touchdown. So goodness, Grace, I don't care who you're playing.
- 9:47Speaker 3: You were not gonna win a lot of games like that.
- 9:49Speaker 3: And we talked about the Rams on the bye week,
- 9:51Speaker 3: So Seahawks have a lot ahead of them. One more
- 9:54Speaker 3: game in the division before the Gauntlet starts with the
- 9:57Speaker 3: forty nine Ers, Cowboys and Eagles. So it's gonna get
- 9:59Speaker 3: into if the Seahawks want to win this division and
- 10:02Speaker 3: needs to start this week against the Rams.
- 10:05Speaker 1: Man up this man, Man up on Hawk Talk.
- 10:18Speaker 4: All right, let's start with Matthew Stafford. This guy is
- 10:21Speaker 4: looking to come back against the Seahawks.
- 10:22Speaker 1: Is looking good so far. Man.
- 10:24Speaker 4: In the last time he played against the Seahawks, he
- 10:28Speaker 4: did his thing.
- 10:28Speaker 1: I mean he was twenty four thirty eight, three thirty four.
- 10:31Speaker 4: He led the Rams to eleven of seventeen on third
- 10:35Speaker 4: downs and through for seventeen first sounds. He could do
- 10:38Speaker 4: no wrong that first week Cooking New Cool was there.
- 10:41Speaker 4: I'm sure We're going to talk about him in a minute,
- 10:43Speaker 4: but they look good. They dominated a time of possession
- 10:45Speaker 4: thirty nine minutes to twenty minutes. And his career stats
- 10:49Speaker 4: against Seattle, He's completing sixty five percent of his passes
- 10:52Speaker 4: over two thousand yards, ten touchdowns at nine interceptions. He's
- 10:56Speaker 4: been sacked twelve times in seven games. He will turn
- 10:59Speaker 4: the football over. We know that about Matthew Stafford. They're
- 11:01Speaker 4: gonna ask him to throw it a lot. He will
- 11:03Speaker 4: turn the football over. So far this year, he's completing
- 11:05Speaker 4: fifty nine percent of his passes for two thousand yards,
- 11:07Speaker 4: eight touchdowns and seven interceptions. He's been sacked nineteen times.
- 11:12Speaker 4: Don't sleep on them now. We know that he can
- 11:14Speaker 4: get hot his twenty twenty three career. Excuse me, his
- 11:17Speaker 4: twenty twenty three numbers are down for some of his
- 11:20Speaker 4: career numbers right. His fifty nine completion percentage he only
- 11:23Speaker 4: played eight games, will be the worst since twenty thirteen,
- 11:25Speaker 4: I was his fifth year in the league. He's also
- 11:27Speaker 4: on pace for just sixteen touchdowns excluding last season, where
- 11:30Speaker 4: he only played in ten games.
- 11:31Speaker 1: That will be the fewest since twenty ten.
- 11:34Speaker 4: This guy's getting old and he's getting banged up, so
- 11:36Speaker 4: that's affecting his numbers.
- 11:37Speaker 1: Man. When defensive, Seahawks bounced back.
- 11:39Speaker 4: They had a pretty good performance through three quarters against
- 11:42Speaker 4: the Commanders, and then in the fourth quarter they got
- 11:44Speaker 4: a little shaky. They allowed two long touchdowns, eight plays
- 11:47Speaker 4: for seven three yards, and ten plays for seventy one yards.
- 11:50Speaker 4: The Hawks are twenty fifth in defense, like we talked
- 11:52Speaker 4: about their twenty second against the pass, and the Rams
- 11:54Speaker 4: are the fourteen ranked offense, averaging three hundred and thirty
- 11:56Speaker 4: five yards per game. They also have the fourteen rate
- 12:00Speaker 4: passing offense with two hundred thirty one yards per game.
- 12:02Speaker 4: So look, Matthew Stafford is back, Cooper Cup is healthy,
- 12:05Speaker 4: Pooka Nakoua is there, Cayvin Williams is banged up, so
- 12:08Speaker 4: you're not gonna see him in the backfield. Yeah, respect
- 12:12Speaker 4: the game, Respect the team. They could be in Saint Louis,
- 12:15Speaker 4: they can be in LA. You play the Rams, you
- 12:17Speaker 4: gotta be ready to go.
- 12:18Speaker 1: It doesn't matter who you talk to.
- 12:19Speaker 3: If you're a Seahawk fans and you see the Rams
- 12:21Speaker 3: lining up, you're taking that game seriously. Obviously after what
- 12:24Speaker 3: happened in Week one. Doesn't matter if you're talking to
- 12:26Speaker 3: kJ Wright or Brian Walters or whoever.
- 12:28Speaker 1: We talk to you all the time.
- 12:30Speaker 3: From those Super Bowl teams, they said, those who are
- 12:32Speaker 3: our toughest games, even when they had the legion of
- 12:34Speaker 3: Boom defense and all that. So the Rams are gonna
- 12:37Speaker 3: be tough, especially with who they got as a head coach.
- 12:39Speaker 3: Sean McVay will make things difficult for you no matter what,
- 12:42Speaker 3: even if you lose. He's gonna make you think. He's gonna,
- 12:46Speaker 3: you know, test every defensive coordinator out there. So Clint
- 12:48Speaker 3: hurts up, gonna have his handful there. Flipping over to
- 12:51Speaker 3: our side, the quarterback Gino Smith taking on the Rams defense.
- 12:54Speaker 3: Gino responded in a big way against the Commanders, one
- 12:57Speaker 3: of his best games ever. He won thirty one to
- 12:59Speaker 3: forty seven, three hundred and sixty nine yards, two touchdowns,
- 13:02Speaker 3: no turnovers. His three sixty nine yards is a career high,
- 13:06Speaker 3: beating his previous high of three sixty seven against this
- 13:09Speaker 3: Rams team last December. He had another career high in
- 13:12Speaker 3: attempts with forty seven. And this is the thing that
- 13:15Speaker 3: I think they got lost a little bit in the
- 13:16Speaker 3: narrative Fallow. In that game, Gino came up big in
- 13:19Speaker 3: the clutch. Gino now has three game winning drives this season. Reminder,
- 13:24Speaker 3: that's defined as a drive that gave his team the
- 13:26Speaker 3: lead for good in the fourth quarter or overtime. That
- 13:29Speaker 3: is his thirteenth career game winning drive in just sixty starts.
- 13:33Speaker 3: For context, Gino has led game winning drives in twenty
- 13:37Speaker 3: one percent of his starts, so almost every one of
- 13:40Speaker 3: four he's leading a game winning drive. So I don't
- 13:43Speaker 3: want to hear the narrative that he's not clutched. Can
- 13:45Speaker 3: we put that bleep to bed? Thank you very much.
- 13:48Speaker 3: That's my ted talk for this evening. After turning the
- 13:52Speaker 3: ball over eight times the past four weeks, Gino finished
- 13:55Speaker 3: the game with no turnovers against Commanders.
- 13:56Speaker 1: That's what's huge.
- 13:57Speaker 3: When you compare the stats from last year, he's just
- 14:00Speaker 3: off about two hundred yards short of the passing yards,
- 14:02Speaker 3: touchdowns minus four, and interceptions plus three, but his numbers
- 14:06Speaker 3: are close. He we know what he can do. He
- 14:10Speaker 3: showed us what he can do a little bit Commanders.
- 14:12Speaker 3: So that was a great game. And you know, going
- 14:14Speaker 3: up against his ram defense, they're not as great as
- 14:16Speaker 3: they have been in years past, or twentieth in total
- 14:18Speaker 3: defense in fourteenth against the past.
- 14:20Speaker 1: So it'll be interesting to see what we do there.
- 14:22Speaker 3: But I'm really looking forward to Gino and have another
- 14:24Speaker 3: consistent performance against his Rams team.
- 14:27Speaker 4: Yeah, Man, Gino is a quiet assassin, and I think
- 14:33Speaker 4: his mistakes are blown out of proportion and his successes
- 14:38Speaker 4: aren't given enough attention. So I'm glad that you pointed
- 14:42Speaker 4: that out. Let's talk about this receiving core for the Rams.
- 14:46Speaker 4: Man Cooper Cup is healthy. You got Pookah, you also
- 14:49Speaker 4: have tow two over there. Man Hookah has been something special,
- 14:53Speaker 4: and now you add Cooper Cup, they gotta be one
- 14:56Speaker 4: of the deadliest duos in the league.
- 14:58Speaker 1: People forget Man.
- 14:59Speaker 4: Just a years ago Cooper Cup at the Triple Crown,
- 15:02Speaker 4: one hundred and forty five receptions for nineteen hundred and
- 15:05Speaker 4: forty seven yards and sixteen touchdowns left some four receptions
- 15:08Speaker 4: short of the single single record held by Michael Thomas.
- 15:12Speaker 4: That also left him to seventeen yards short of Calvin
- 15:14Speaker 4: Johnson's single single record of nineteen sixty four. So let
- 15:19Speaker 4: me say nineteen hundred and sixty four the one shot
- 15:21Speaker 4: I think Coyvien was playing back in nineteen sixty four.
- 15:23Speaker 4: My mama wasn't even born back there. But since then,
- 15:27Speaker 4: Coop's missed a lot of games.
- 15:28Speaker 1: Man. He missed twelve games in the last two years.
- 15:30Speaker 4: He missed the first four games, but he had back
- 15:33Speaker 4: to back one hundred yard games once to return to
- 15:35Speaker 4: the lineup. But during the three game losing streak, Cooper's
- 15:37Speaker 4: only had eight receptions for ninety eight yards the zero touchdowns.
- 15:40Speaker 4: So far this year twenty three receptions for three sixty
- 15:43Speaker 4: four in one touchdown. Now, the guy who looked good
- 15:47Speaker 4: in his absence poola int the cool He went to
- 15:48Speaker 4: U DUB, went to BYU, drafted in the fifth round
- 15:51Speaker 4: in twenty twenty three. When he played the Hawks in
- 15:54Speaker 4: Week one, he had ten receptions for one nineteen.
- 15:57Speaker 1: It was crazy. No one knew who he was.
- 15:59Speaker 4: I mean, you knew who he was because of him
- 16:01Speaker 4: going to U DUB and BYU. But man, he hit
- 16:04Speaker 4: the scene, man, and he's still balling. Sixty four receptions
- 16:07Speaker 4: eight twenty seven and two touchdowns, got six in the
- 16:10Speaker 4: NFL in yards, seventh in targets. Man, he's ninety yards
- 16:13Speaker 4: away from breaking the Rams rookie receiving record. Safe to
- 16:16Speaker 4: say he's going to do that and just hope he
- 16:18Speaker 4: didn't do it against us. Now you got too to
- 16:20Speaker 4: add well, I like this guy, man, he's a versatile
- 16:22Speaker 4: type of player.
- 16:22Speaker 1: Man. It's the second round pick in twenty twenty one.
- 16:24Speaker 4: This year he has thirty two receptions for three seventy
- 16:27Speaker 4: four and three touchdowns.
- 16:28Speaker 1: So they see.
- 16:29Speaker 4: What what Spoon looks like against these guys, what Reet
- 16:32Speaker 4: looks like, what Trey Brown looks like.
- 16:35Speaker 1: This is gonna be a nice group.
- 16:36Speaker 4: I think this is the performance wise, probably the best
- 16:39Speaker 4: duo all year that these guys have faced.
- 16:41Speaker 1: You can look at Jamar and Higgins.
- 16:42Speaker 4: Jamar didn't really play that well when the Hawks played them.
- 16:46Speaker 1: But this is gonna be a tough one.
- 16:48Speaker 3: Yeah, they'll exploit you, for sure, like Cooper Cup and
- 16:51Speaker 3: Pook Nicole will find ways to get open. If you're
- 16:53Speaker 3: not doing what you're supposed to be doing in the
- 16:54Speaker 3: middle of field, they'll exploit you. And then Cooper Cup
- 16:57Speaker 3: can also take you over the top. That's the other
- 16:58Speaker 3: thing people forget about him. He's not just a stepthily fast.
- 17:01Speaker 3: It's okay to just say he's fast.
- 17:02Speaker 1: He's fast? Is that okay? Can I say that? We
- 17:05Speaker 1: can say that?
- 17:06Speaker 3: So, yeah, they're gonna They're gonna make things hard on
- 17:08Speaker 3: the defensive back. So Trey Brown and Witherspoon, I'm pretty
- 17:11Speaker 3: sure they'll be up for the task. And now there's
- 17:14Speaker 3: another guy in the middle of their defense that we've
- 17:17Speaker 3: known for a long time. His name's Aaron Donald, and
- 17:20Speaker 3: this matchup is Aaron Donald versus our body. Because we
- 17:23Speaker 3: say this every time we play the Rams, but it's true. Man,
- 17:27Speaker 3: He's still one of the greatest players of this generation,
- 17:30Speaker 3: without question. Nine time Pro Bowler, seventeen first team All Pro,
- 17:34Speaker 3: three time AP Defensive Player of the Year. In his
- 17:37Speaker 3: tenth season with the Rams, he's still leading them in
- 17:39Speaker 3: sacks and CFLs. On the season, Donald's got thirty seven tackles,
- 17:43Speaker 3: five and a half sacks and eleven TFLs, and the
- 17:46Speaker 3: week one against the Seahawks, he had four tackles in
- 17:48Speaker 3: half a sack. Since entering the league in twenty fourteen,
- 17:51Speaker 3: Aaron Donald has fifteen and a half sacks against the Seahawks,
- 17:53Speaker 3: making his making that the second most sack team of
- 17:56Speaker 3: his career. Donald's also been healthy this year, missing starting
- 18:01Speaker 3: and playing in all nine games, but last year he
- 18:04Speaker 3: was It was the first year he'd ever missed any
- 18:05Speaker 3: significant time. He missed six games last year. Prior to that,
- 18:08Speaker 3: he'd only missed two games in his entire career. So,
- 18:11Speaker 3: as usual, find out where ninety nine is and you
- 18:14Speaker 3: better have at least one or two guys on him
- 18:16Speaker 3: because he is incredibly talented.
- 18:19Speaker 1: So you know, if he gets half a sack, that's
- 18:22Speaker 1: a win for me. That's a win. One sack, I'll
- 18:25Speaker 1: take one sack. Yeah, oh TfL. I mean, I guess
- 18:27Speaker 1: you get a sack. That is a TfL.
- 18:28Speaker 4: He is top five in the league with TFLs. Yeah,
- 18:30Speaker 4: so maybe one two, maybe one, yeah, one sack of okay.
- 18:34Speaker 3: Within the Seahawks, you know, have had struggles a couple
- 18:36Speaker 3: times as of late, but on the season they've only
- 18:38Speaker 3: allowed nineteen sacks, So that's eighth best in the league.
- 18:41Speaker 3: Kansas City's number one, allowing just twelve sacks. So figure
- 18:44Speaker 3: out where Aaron Donald is. Exploit him, block him, Evan Brown,
- 18:46Speaker 3: all those guys. Make sure ninety nine is covered up.
- 18:50Speaker 4: Yep, ninety nine is a problem. I was trying to
- 18:54Speaker 4: think of like a jay Z bar right, there, got
- 18:56Speaker 4: ninety nine problems and Aaron Donald as all of them.
- 18:59Speaker 3: Yes, Hey, there we go. It took you out to
- 19:02Speaker 3: think about it, but you got it.
- 19:03Speaker 1: You know, hey, I got it. I got it all right.
- 19:06Speaker 4: Next matchup, DK and Tyler Lockett throwing jays in two
- 19:09Speaker 4: against this Rams secondary our duo had their best games
- 19:13Speaker 4: so far combined this year fifteen receptions, one hundred and
- 19:17Speaker 4: ninety yards and one touchdown combined, and JSN got the
- 19:20Speaker 4: party going early.
- 19:20Speaker 1: He had four receptions for fifty three yards.
- 19:23Speaker 4: The combo DK, Tyland JSN combined for nineteen receptions two
- 19:26Speaker 4: hundred and forty three yards and one touchdown. The best
- 19:29Speaker 4: game by these three so far. These are the type
- 19:31Speaker 4: of games that you're looking for. We're hoping that means
- 19:33Speaker 4: there is more to come. The Hawks still haven't had
- 19:36Speaker 4: honeyard receiver since Week three, and DK missed that mark
- 19:39Speaker 4: by two yards.
- 19:40Speaker 1: He had ninety eight yards this pass game.
- 19:42Speaker 4: The Rams are fourteenth in the NFL when it comes
- 19:44Speaker 4: to allowing yards through the air two hundred and seventeen
- 19:48Speaker 4: per game. The Rams top corners. We know one of
- 19:51Speaker 4: these guys right at Kello Witherspoon. He was with us
- 19:54Speaker 4: for a little bit. He had He has twenty three tackles,
- 19:56Speaker 4: six passes, defending two interceptions.
- 19:59Speaker 1: Got Kobe Duraant.
- 20:00Speaker 4: He's got thirty one tackles, five passes defendant, and you
- 20:02Speaker 4: have Darren Kendrick. He has thirty tackles, four passive defendant
- 20:06Speaker 4: and two TFLs. Deacann Tyler had the ability to climb
- 20:10Speaker 4: up the leader board when it comes to history this week, man,
- 20:13Speaker 4: we're talking about receptions and yards and all that stuff,
- 20:16Speaker 4: and touchdown we got dk He needs one touchdown to
- 20:20Speaker 4: pass Steve Larger and Joey Galloway for first place for
- 20:22Speaker 4: the most receiving touchdowns in the play its first five
- 20:25Speaker 4: seasons in franchise history.
- 20:27Speaker 1: He's got thirty eight.
- 20:28Speaker 4: He needs one touchdown and pass Joey Galloway for fifth
- 20:30Speaker 4: place on Seattle's all time receiving touchdown list with thirty eight.
- 20:33Speaker 4: He needs ninety yards to pass my guy Bobby Ingram
- 20:37Speaker 4: for sixth place on Seattle on Seattle's all time receiving
- 20:40Speaker 4: yards with four eight and sixty. He needs forty eight
- 20:44Speaker 4: yards to pass Steve Larger for second place for the
- 20:46Speaker 4: most receiving yards in a players first five seasons in
- 20:48Speaker 4: franchise history. He needs two touchdowns to pass Sherman Smith
- 20:52Speaker 4: for tenth place on Sales all time total touchdowns list
- 20:55Speaker 4: with thirty nine. All right, you're ready for Tyler, now man,
- 20:58Speaker 4: these dudes come, so Tyler Lockett. He needs three or
- 21:02Speaker 4: sevens to pass Brian Blaze for second place on Seattle's
- 21:04Speaker 4: all times receptions list with five hundred and eighty two.
- 21:07Speaker 1: Goodness Graces have five.
- 21:09Speaker 4: He's twenty seven yards to pass Brian Blaze for second
- 21:13Speaker 4: place on Seattle's all time receiving yards list with seven
- 21:15Speaker 4: six hundred and twenty one. He needs one touchdown to
- 21:18Speaker 4: pass Kurt Warner for fourth place on Seattle's all time
- 21:20Speaker 4: total touchdowns list with sixty three, and he needs one
- 21:23Speaker 4: one hundred yard game to tie Darryl Jackson for second
- 21:26Speaker 4: place for the most one hundred yard games in Seattle's
- 21:29Speaker 4: history with nineteen. Might as well just knock them all
- 21:31Speaker 4: out on Sunday, Just get all he's done.
- 21:33Speaker 1: It's close. I think they can get all of them.
- 21:35Speaker 3: Realistically, I wasn't even sure if you're going to go
- 21:37Speaker 3: through that whole list, but my goodness, you had a breath.
- 21:39Speaker 3: I mean, might as well as well. These boys are close.
- 21:42Speaker 3: I mean, that's it could be. We're gonna have all
- 21:45Speaker 3: these to you since we put it out there. We're
- 21:47Speaker 3: gonnait him all this weekend. Bump will tell you about
- 21:48Speaker 3: every single one of them in.
- 21:49Speaker 1: The post game. So let's get it.
- 21:52Speaker 3: So that being said, let's tell you guys how the
- 21:54Speaker 3: Seahawks are going to get this victory. Down in La
- 21:57Speaker 3: Path to victory.
- 22:00Speaker 2: After forty five waits for the staff, Michael Dixon puts
- 22:03Speaker 2: it down.
- 22:04Speaker 1: That kick is away. If that kick.
- 22:06Speaker 2: Is gone, to stay off.
- 22:08Speaker 1: When it's gone.
- 22:09Speaker 2: It's a path to victory on Hawk Talk.
- 22:12Speaker 3: Another big divisional matchup, and this is one where the
- 22:15Speaker 3: Seahawks can prove that Week one was a total fluke.
- 22:19Speaker 3: Every division game is important, you know, especially with two
- 22:22Speaker 3: games against the forty nine ers looming, and this is huge.
- 22:26Speaker 3: You know, one of Pete Carroll's goals and you walk
- 22:27Speaker 3: downstairs in the locker room, one of the things that
- 22:29Speaker 3: says own the NFC West, that's always one of their goals.
- 22:32Speaker 3: And it starts by winning all those games. After you're
- 22:35Speaker 3: dropping one, you've lost one in division, you're two and one.
- 22:38Speaker 3: So figure out a way to get this done and
- 22:40Speaker 3: continue that role ball rolling into San Francisco the following
- 22:43Speaker 3: week and the other thing to get after Matthew Stafford.
- 22:47Speaker 3: He cannot be comfortable the way he was in Week
- 22:49Speaker 3: one where he diced everybody up, and you can't allow
- 22:51Speaker 3: him to pick you apart across the middle in that
- 22:53Speaker 3: passing game. I really love where the Seahawks secondary is
- 22:56Speaker 3: right now. I love how they're playing. I just think,
- 22:59Speaker 3: you know, the key to getting after Stafford is making
- 23:02Speaker 3: him not feel comfortable.
- 23:03Speaker 1: He's not a runner.
- 23:04Speaker 3: He's not gonna scramble all around the place like Lamar
- 23:06Speaker 3: Jackson or even Sam Howell for that matter.
- 23:08Speaker 4: So make him uncomfortable and take the ball away. Yeah,
- 23:12Speaker 4: how do you do that? Blitz that man? The Hawks
- 23:15Speaker 4: blitz about twenty two percent of the time. It's making
- 23:17Speaker 4: it about thirty five this week, maybe about thirty five.
- 23:19Speaker 4: Put some pressure on him, and you can't let the
- 23:21Speaker 4: receivers go off.
- 23:22Speaker 2: Man.
- 23:22Speaker 4: Pooka's already done it once, all right, and we don't
- 23:23Speaker 4: need to see Cooper Cup do it at all. Press's
- 23:26Speaker 4: guys off the line of scrimmage. Make life tough for
- 23:29Speaker 4: these dudes. Build off of what you did last week.
- 23:32Speaker 4: You saw some things, Gino, you won yourself a ball game.
- 23:36Speaker 4: Defense was great for three quarters, kind of slipped up
- 23:39Speaker 4: at the end. But you're checking some boxes, all right,
- 23:41Speaker 4: So keep checking those boxes. Hand the football to Zach,
- 23:44Speaker 4: hand the football to Ken and let them do their thing.
- 23:49Speaker 1: Yeah, man, that sounds like a great playing bump feel
- 23:51Speaker 1: like you know what you're talking about.
- 23:52Speaker 4: Man.
- 23:52Speaker 1: A little bit in a little sometime, just a bit.
- 23:54Speaker 3: And the last thing I'll says, be better on third down,
- 23:57Speaker 3: third down. The fact the Seahawks are making strides in
- 23:59Speaker 3: and then the Ravens game happened, and then last game
- 24:02Speaker 3: was a little off. But stay on the field, extend drives,
- 24:05Speaker 3: win time, possession, and then once they do that, there's
- 24:08Speaker 3: no there's no tone what this offense can do.
- 24:11Speaker 1: Go one and know this week take down the Rams
- 24:13Speaker 1: on the road.
- 24:14Speaker 3: Set us up for a huge stretch of Niners, Cowboys, Niners, Eagles.
- 24:18Speaker 1: I think this team's up for the challenge.
- 24:20Speaker 3: Can't wait to watch it happen this Sunday, Seahawks taking
- 24:22Speaker 3: on the Rams at one twenty five. We'll be on
- 24:24Speaker 3: the radio at ten am. He's Michael Bumpus on NASA Chobe. Reminder,
- 24:28Speaker 3: you can catch us everywhere Seahawks dot Com, Apple Podcasts, Spotify,
- 24:32Speaker 3: Series XM, and more. And if you're listening on Apple.
- 24:35Speaker 3: Please rate us five stars. We appreciate the love. Until
- 24:37Speaker 3: next time, we'll be talking to you, hopefully on Monday
- 24:40Speaker 3: about a Seahawks victory.
