Transcript
- 0:18I'm Jessica and this is Teba K Rambles, where a couple of
- 0:21friends review Korean dramas and we are going back in time.
- 0:24I'm talking Y2K back in time today and I have my good friend
- 0:30Naz with me to go on this time traveling journey back to the
- 0:34year 2000. Naz from the Swoon Diaries
- 0:38podcast. How are you today?
- 0:41I'm good Jazz. I'm so excited to be back and
- 0:43talk about this show. I'm so excited.
- 0:45I am pumped. We have been DM ING each other,
- 0:48sending each other voice memos and stuff because the hype is so
- 0:52high for this episode, for the episode that will be coming out
- 0:57also on your podcast, because you're covering three of the
- 1:00four endless love dramas. Yes, I'm so happy.
- 1:05I'm ecstatic for you. But the reason why I'm covering
- 1:10Autumn in my heart is because I looked at some photos of Autumn
- 1:17in my heart and I was like, you know what?
- 1:18I'm feeling this vibe. I'm feeling it.
- 1:21I did not read anything about the show, I did not spoil
- 1:24anything about it. I didn't know anything about the
- 1:25plot. I just walked in blind.
- 1:28But I chose it because I felt like I really wanted to watch
- 1:30Autumn in my Heart. I thought it was time.
- 1:32I knew it was part of the Endless Love series and boy am I
- 1:36glad that I did this. And I asked you to join me on
- 1:42this journey. So before we get into Autumn in
- 1:46My Heart, Nas, why don't we do a little quick K catch up in honor
- 1:50of Swoon Diaries. What are you watching recently?
- 1:53What are you up to? Just let us know.
- 1:57Yes, yes. So I just finished Lovely Runner
- 2:01this week that wrapped up very cute drama.
- 2:05Very, very cute. And then I am currently watching
- 2:10a typical family, which is so good.
- 2:12Like it's really taken me by surprise.
- 2:15It's really engaging and like, it keeps me on my toes.
- 2:19So it's really fun watching a drama that I can't like, predict
- 2:22what's gonna happen. I like that.
- 2:23So yeah, I like it a lot. I think you'd like it too.
- 2:26Like I think you'd, I think that's one you'd really, really
- 2:28like. And then yes, you know, I really
- 2:32do think you'd like that one. And then I'm also watching
- 2:34Summer Scent, so we'll be doing that one on my podcast.
- 2:38So I'm super excited for that. That's right, you heard it here
- 2:42first, so we're covering summer scent, I'm guessing over on soon
- 2:45Diaries. So pay attention to her feed and
- 2:48my feed because I'll tell you guys when that happens.
- 2:51But for me, I have been watching a lot less K drama lately just
- 2:55cause I've been so busy. But what I've been doing is
- 2:58watching a lot of stuff with my family and my sister in
- 3:01particular. We re watched House of the
- 3:03dragon. Oh, which is not at all K drama
- 3:08E well I mean in some respects it is.
- 3:12But House of the dragon HBO show it's the game of Dragons
- 3:16prequel. Listen, I did not do anything
- 3:20like I didn't touch Game of Dragons with a 10 foot pole.
- 3:23I did not succumb to FOMO. I was not part of that
- 3:26revolution that was Game of Thrones.
- 3:28Everybody and their mom was watching Game of Thrones.
- 3:31I'm telling you, it was everywhere.
- 3:33You could not escape Game of Thrones.
- 3:34Everybody was talking about Game of Thrones, especially the last
- 3:36season. Yeah.
- 3:38I didn't care give didn't give a shit.
- 3:40Then House of the Dragon comes out and I was my sister was
- 3:43watching it and I just popping in and out.
- 3:45I was like, oh whatever, like not very interested.
- 3:47I watched the last two episodes and I was like, oh, this is a
- 3:50lot. Then I saw some promos for the
- 3:53season 2 that was just coming out next month and I was like,
- 3:57you know what? You know what?
- 4:01Like the? Season.
- 4:03Two looks really good, like it looks like it's going to be so
- 4:06much drama, like so much hair pulling and Dragons.
- 4:11Like it's pure fantasy. I love fan.
- 4:13I'm fantasy girly. Yes, yes.
- 4:16So I said to my sister, I think I want to watch House of like
- 4:19legitimately watch House of Dragon season one so that I can
- 4:23jump specifically so I can jump in on season 2 when all hell
- 4:28breaks loose. And she was like, OK, bet.
- 4:31So we did it. I binged Maxton House on Amazon
- 4:37Prime. Highly recommend it.
- 4:38I've heard so much about that show.
- 4:40Highly recommend it. I've been watching Somerset.
- 4:42Oh, Somerset, like lots of yeah. So that's kind of like where I'm
- 4:47at. Plus movies I watch movies all
- 4:50the time go to the movies every weekend yes so yeah just but on
- 4:54top of all that like life working full time like there's
- 4:58not a lot of time to sit and watch K dramas especially when
- 5:03I'm not I'm not as interested I but I've been loving the podcast
- 5:07season like dead box season 5 is so much fun for me I'm having.
- 5:11A great time. Yeah.
- 5:12I love all the shows that you've picked.
- 5:14Like it's been so fun. It's literally just me and my
- 5:18sensibilities and what? I wanted to watch, personally
- 5:21wanted to watch, yeah. And that's how it should be
- 5:23like. That's how it like you keep it
- 5:25fun for yourself. So I love that you're doing that
- 5:27and focusing on what you want to watch, I hope.
- 5:30Everyone else is loving it too. And I hope everyone is ready for
- 5:34autumn in my heart as we as we get into it.

- 6:34OK, here we go. Autumn in my heart.
- 6:38Oh, yay. Let's do it.
- 6:41Oh my God. The, the, the, the anticipation.
- 6:44All right. The Vicky synopsis for the show.
- 6:48Junsul and Unsul are a brother and sister who grow up in a
- 6:51happy and wealthy family. Shinsei grew up in a tough life
- 6:55with her mother who runs a restaurant, and she is always
- 6:58jealous of Unsul, who has everything she wants.
- 7:01When she bullies Unsul out of jealousy, she is scolded by
- 7:04Junsul. Unso is hospitalized after a car
- 7:07accident one day, and the truth is disclosed that Unso is not
- 7:11the biological daughter of Professor Yun's couple.
- 7:15OK. Unso leaves.
- 7:17I don't like Professor Yun's couple.
- 7:19Like what is that set up? What is that like?
- 7:21Construction. OK, Unso leaves Professor Yun's
- 7:25couple to again. Why Professor Yun's couple?
- 7:29It must be a translation. Yeah, a lot of editing for the
- 7:33synopsis. It's all right, This was the
- 7:34best one 'cause I was looking at my drama list and I looked at
- 7:38Asian Wiki and I was like, these are worse both.
- 7:40Of them were bad, yeah, yeah, I had the same problem, yeah.
- 7:44Yeah, yeah. Unso leaves Professor Yun's
- 7:46couple to find her birth parents.
- 7:50Well, OK, And Professor Yun's family leaves for the United
- 7:53States. As an adult, Unso works at a
- 7:56hotel. She runs into a drunken Tesak,
- 7:58the son of the CEO of the hotel, and Tesak falls in love with
- 8:02Unso. However, Unso and Junso fall in
- 8:04love with each other after they are reunited as adults.
- 8:07Debatable. Debatable with the ACT.
- 8:09Debatable. Yeah, what will bring from what
- 8:14will bring from the heartbreaking love and
- 8:16separations between these four people?
- 8:19I don't. They don't even mention who the
- 8:204th person is. Right.
- 8:21OK, it's a mess. It's a mess, but OK, so you four
- 8:26people, meaning there's it's two couples, there's a second female
- 8:30lead and a second male lead. They mentioned the male lead,
- 8:33the second male lead Tesuk in the synopsis, but they just like
- 8:38whiffed on the second female lead, but OK.
- 8:42Anyway, this aired from September 2000 to November 2000
- 8:47in Autumn Crazy. It is also has alternative
- 8:52titles like Autumn Tale, Autumn Fairy Tale, you know, as as
- 8:58these shows tend to do. Let me take you back to 2000
- 9:01though. Let me take the year 2000 three
- 9:06911. This was the year The Sims was
- 9:10released. Bill Clinton was president.
- 9:15Gladiator with Russell Crowe was released.
- 9:18It was the number three movie of the year.
- 9:20Number one was How the Grinch Stole Christmas with Jim Carrey.
- 9:23Wow. Eminem released his third LP,
- 9:27which included The Real Slim Shady on it.
- 9:31I can freaking still. I can hear the harpsichord like
- 9:40Oh my gosh. The very first X-Men Movie with
- 9:44Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. We had never seen Hugh Jackman
- 9:47as Wolverine before the year 2000.
- 9:50This was released in 2000. Harry Potter and the Goblet of
- 9:53Fire, the fourth Harry Potter book, was published in the year
- 9:582000. There were no other Harry Potter
- 10:02books, only four. At this point in time.
- 10:06Coldplay released their debut album.
- 10:09This is the first time we hear Coldplay in the year 2000.
- 10:14That's. Crazy, I know.
- 10:17So this is the year. This is the year that we get
- 10:21autumn in my heart. OK, just setting the scene here.
- 10:26Now, I mentioned Endless Love series.
- 10:29That's because this is this kicks off the endless Love
- 10:33series, what has come to become, well, what is now known as the
- 10:36Endless Love series. It's the unofficial title for a
- 10:38set of 4K drama series directed by the same director, Unsoko,
- 10:43produced by KBS from 2000 to O6. The show's endings.
- 10:49This is from Wikipedia, by the way.
- 10:51The show's endings not only have evolved with the times.
- 10:54Parenthetical tragedy used to be the trend, but now lighter,
- 10:58happier endings are preferred. Say it louder for the people in
- 11:02the back. Yeah.
- 11:03And you could definitely see that transition.
- 11:04Oh, yes. Watch, like, all of them, for
- 11:06sure. Yeah.
- 11:08But have kept with the theme getting progressively more
- 11:10positive as spring approaches. So you're missing spring in your
- 11:15line up to get a little bit more like with the with the seasons,
- 11:21you know, a few of the actors who portray the show's
- 11:24supporting characters return in different roles as the series
- 11:26progressed, such as Kim Heisuk. But only Song Songgun played two
- 11:31different characters, both as leads for Ottoman Summer.
- 11:34So we are on this Song Songgun journey together because we're
- 11:38watching Autumn in my heart and Somerset, which stars the same
- 11:43man. Yes, yes, we're we are pressed,
- 11:47shaken together like no for the little man.
- 11:52Literally I'm like, where have you been all my life?
- 11:55Like where have you been all my? Life girl girl it's so hard to
- 12:03like keep it together No, it really is it's truly I'm like
- 12:08blushing so I'm turning red so hard it's.
- 12:11Like, wow. And, you know, we'll talk about
- 12:14it more when we get to his part in the cast list, but like, holy
- 12:18hell. OK.
- 12:19Anyway, the order, the release order for the Endless Love
- 12:24series is Autumn in My Heart, Winter Sonata, Summer Scent, and
- 12:27Spring Waltz. Yeah.
- 12:29So I don't know why they did Summer Scent before Spring
- 12:32Waltz. Yeah, I thought that was
- 12:33interesting. That's a little weird, but yeah,
- 12:36whatever. I don't make the rules.
- 12:37It's been 24 years since the first one came out.
- 12:41Autumn in My Heart is 16 episodes long.
- 12:43It's the only one that's 16 episodes.
- 12:45The rest are 20 episodes long. And we already mentioned the
- 12:49director, Yun Soko. He's directed all of these.
- 12:52He had other dramas throughout the 90s.
- 12:54He has only done dramas for KBS. He has not done any dramas for
- 12:59any other cable network, any other channel.
- 13:03Yeah, he also did Love Rain from 2012.
- 13:06I always love to throw that out there because Love Rain, if
- 13:10you've never watched an older K drama and then you kind of go
- 13:14and dip your toes in pre 2015 and get to Love Rain.
- 13:18Love Rain is very reminiscent of these older K dramas.
- 13:21Oh. OK I need to is it on Vicky?
- 13:23I need to add that to my list. Oh, I don't know if it's on
- 13:25Vicky, but buyer beware, it stars Yuna.
- 13:29Oh, I'm looking at the ground. Fire view where?
- 13:36Fire view where? Oh, it is on Vicky.
- 13:38Oh it is. Oh OK.
- 13:40So I watched Love Rain probably right around the time when it
- 13:44aired. Love Rain is 2 very lovely
- 13:50introverted people in I think the 70s who love each other but
- 13:55can't really make it work, never really get the relationship off
- 13:58the ground, and then they go their separate ways.
- 14:01It's like the one that got away situation and later on in life
- 14:07when they're adults, like in their four 50s, I think their
- 14:12children meet and they're obviously it's played by the
- 14:16same actors, Yuna and what's his face?
- 14:18I can't remember his name. He's from you're.
- 14:22You're beautiful. OK, I'm going to Google him.
- 14:25You when you see him, you'll be like, oh, I've seen this guy.
- 14:27It's played by the same young actors from the 70s.
- 14:32They fall. Their children fall in love as
- 14:38the adults. Their parents, who'd play by
- 14:40different older actors, rekindle their romance.
- 14:45So there's this threat of the fact that they might be step
- 14:48siblings. Oh my gosh, that the children
- 14:51might become step siblings. Oh no.
- 14:58Oh no, I'm telling you bro, I'm telling you.
- 15:03What is with this like could they be siblings thing that was
- 15:06happening like the 2000 that's. What I said love Rain is very
- 15:11reminiscent of older K dramas of the previous decade.
- 15:16And if you're not ready, you're just not ready for it.
- 15:19If you and the fact that Yuna is the Anyway anyway, moving on,
- 15:27Autumn in My Heart is written by Osuyon.
- 15:30She has written Conky who, which is a 1999 drama that was
- 15:37directed by the same director. So she's worked with the
- 15:39director before Four Sisters. She wrote Winter Sonata.
- 15:43Oh. Yeah, she, she wrote one of the
- 15:45other endless love shows, Love Letter, Wedding Stars, Lover,
- 15:50and she wrote Love Rain. But still, they work together.
- 15:54So they've worked together before.
- 15:55Yeah. They worked together in 2012 for
- 15:58Love Rain. Yeah.
- 15:59All right, so here's the cast. My heart's beating.
- 16:02My heart. My heart is beating.
- 16:05OK, so Song Sung Hoon or Song Hoon plays Yun Juno.
- 16:10Oh my God. I'm.
- 16:12I'm so nervous just talking about them that I'm messing up
- 16:15their names. So the the character's name is
- 16:18Yun Jun. So.
- 16:20Yes, Sung Sung Hon was only 24 years old when he did this show.
- 16:28Oh my goodness. I know.
- 16:30He's done about 13 movies, 18 TV shows.
- 16:33In the grand scheme of things, not that many projects, right?
- 16:38Right. I did notice that.
- 16:40Yeah, yeah. But he did Scent of Summer, you
- 16:43know, Three years later, he starred in Scent of Summer,
- 16:45which is also in the Endless Love series.
- 16:47He did. He's done East of Eden.
- 16:49I first saw him in My Princess from 2011.
- 16:53Have you seen like that one? I like that show on my list.
- 16:55OK, OK, My Princess Throwback show 2011.
- 16:59It's this girl. Oh, Princess Diaries.
- 17:02Oh, I love that that Princess Diaries.
- 17:04Yes. And then he is like a, oh God,
- 17:07he works for the palace. I think he's like a like a
- 17:09bodyguard or something like that, sort of like a handler and
- 17:13he goes to get her. I remember him going to get her
- 17:17like it's been so long the the, the actual details of the show
- 17:21gone. But I really like that show and
- 17:25it's it's really like sort of a ROM com.
- 17:27She's very bubbly of a personality.
- 17:31It's it's basically Princess Diaries.
- 17:32If you love Princess Diaries, you're going to love my
- 17:35Princess. Oh my gosh, I I really want to
- 17:37watch that regular girl finds out she's a Princess.
- 17:40Yeah, I love that. And he's the male lead.
- 17:43Other than My Princess and then this show in Somerset, have you
- 17:47seen any of the others? No, I haven't seen him in Doctor
- 17:50Jin or When a Man Loves Time Time Thong Memoir of Colours.
- 17:56I started it, but I but I dropped it.
- 17:59It was kind of, I don't know, it was a little bit strange to me.
- 18:03OK, that's a 2017 show and I remember starting it and being
- 18:06like, what is this? It was threw you back in a
- 18:09flashback and then I was like, what's the is there a painting?
- 18:13She's a painter. It was it was a little bit
- 18:16strange. I wonder how I'll feel about it
- 18:18now. And I don't think he came out in
- 18:20like the first few episodes. If he did, I don't remember him
- 18:24because it's this long story. I don't even remember all the
- 18:27details because I was like so confused.
- 18:29ANYWAYS, that show Black, which is an OCN show that should tell
- 18:34you everything you need to know. He plays the title character
- 18:37Voice 4. He's in voice 4, Black Knight,
- 18:40which is a next Netflix show. And then I think he's currently
- 18:44promoting the Player 2 Master of Swindlers.
- 18:48Yeah, yeah, which is 2024 show. So that's it.
- 18:52Like that's sung, sung Hon. Oh my God, I'm getting tongue
- 18:55tied on his name. I had it earlier.
- 18:57He the way he looks in the show and the way he acts.
- 19:03Oh my God. I have my head in my hands.
- 19:07Like honestly, he could not be more attractive.
- 19:13No, literally, literally. Like he could not be more
- 19:16attractive. Man, like when he first comes on
- 19:19the screen, my mouth fell on the floor like I was like, I think
- 19:23this is the finest man I've ever seen in my life.
- 19:26Like literally I was like I, I had to rewind the scene and I
- 19:29feel like the director knew that him coming on the scene, you
- 19:32know, in the, in the time jump was a moment because I was, I
- 19:36literally breath like the breath was gone.
- 19:39Like I was like. Breathless.
- 19:43Leave me breathless. He left me breathless and him
- 19:50crying, his acting, it was all amazing.
- 19:54Amazing. No bad, no notes. 10 out of 10.
- 20:00I was invested completely in his journey.
- 20:04In his Descendants of Madness, at points in the angst.
- 20:08And if the synopsis didn't give it away, this is a very angsty
- 20:12melodrama, a tearjerker. Yeah. 100% I was crying.
- 20:19I I mean I was crying almost every episode.
- 20:21It's a tearjerker, Yeah. You literally will cry every
- 20:23episode. Every episode, Yeah, it's very
- 20:25emotional. His Co star, the female lead is
- 20:29Song He Kyo. Yes, that's Song He Kyo.
- 20:33She plays Yun enso slash che unso.
- 20:39She was all of 19 years old when she did Autumn in My Heart or
- 20:44when it was released, so you might have.
- 20:47We've covered a lot of her shows actually on Tebot.
- 20:51So we've covered her in Full House which was four years later
- 20:542004 with rain and we've covered Descendants of the Sun from 2016
- 21:02with her ex-husband. So why did I crack myself up
- 21:09with ex-husband? But anyway her ex-husband Sung
- 21:13Jung Ki and of course we covered The Glory from 20/22/2023 so big
- 21:20shows for her. She's also been in Worlds Within
- 21:23that Winter The Wind Blows someone.
- 21:25When I was asking people if they could guess the show that was
- 21:28coming up for autumn's concerto because I said, oh, it has a
- 21:33season in the title, Yeah, someone was like, I don't know,
- 21:36but I hope it's that winter the wind blows.
- 21:41I was like, I'm sorry, it's not. You know what's funny, though,
- 21:54like in speaking about Descendants of the Sun, when I
- 21:57posted like, oh, like next week's reviews, Like, I'm going
- 21:59to be reviewing a show with, you know, song.
- 22:01Hey, Kyoto. Yeah.
- 22:02And someone messaged me like I hope it's not Descendants of the
- 22:05Sun and I. Was I hope it's not descendants
- 22:08of the Sun. Yes, I was like Yikes, I've
- 22:11never watched that yet. Never seen so much descendants
- 22:14of the Sun slander as I have in the last like four years.
- 22:17I was like, what in the world? I thought this was like, you
- 22:19know, you know, this ground breaking show.
- 22:21I honestly you just. Had to.
- 22:23I feel like you just had to be there.
- 22:24Yeah. It was one of those where you
- 22:26just had the same for goblin. I've never seen so much Goblin
- 22:28slander as well in the last four years.
- 22:30I think the goblin. Slander the last few years has
- 22:33like really hurt my heart. I'm like what?
- 22:36What? How do you not like?
- 22:37Goblin and I'm the first one to to rip things that I love.
- 22:42Yeah, I love roasting things that I love yeah.
- 22:46I, I, you know, I have AI, have a healthy, you know,
- 22:50relationship to, to the television.
- 22:53It's television. OK.
- 22:54They're TV shows serious, yeah, but the slander is really.
- 22:58It's vile. Yeah, it really is.
- 23:00I'm like, where Is this coming? Too harsh, Yeah.
- 23:05Anyway, Songhai kills in this. She's beautiful.
- 23:10She's so. Stunning, stunning, stunning.
- 23:13Yeah, anyone who looks good with grey lipstick, that's a skill.
- 23:19That's a, you know, we should elevate this person.
- 23:23And that's so good. Gray lipstick.
- 23:25Yeah. Like that brownish Gray.
- 23:28Yeah. Yeah, and I know it's it.
- 23:32This is 2000. It came out in 2000.
- 23:34It's basically the late 90s. Yeah, yeah.
- 23:38Yep. And she looks really good still.
- 23:42Like, I don't know, that's looking at it like always.
- 23:47Beautiful no matter what state she's.
- 23:49In so So I will say I didn't put down the second female lead.
- 23:57I have her name. Her name is Han Nana.
- 24:00Yeah, it's her real name, but this is the only thing she's
- 24:04ever done. Which, yeah, I remember when I
- 24:06was looking up, like, what, all the Asian wiki profiles from
- 24:10everybody, and I was just like, why hasn't she done anything
- 24:13else? Like a lot of the actors in the
- 24:15show actually haven't done much after this show.
- 24:18Yeah. Which I found very interesting.
- 24:20Yeah, this is the only the only thing she's ever done.
- 24:22So I didn't really put stuff down for her.
- 24:25But I think we we need to have a little conversation about one
- 24:29being because one being the second mentally.
- 24:32Yeah, like he was all of 23. Oh, it's just babies.
- 24:40So he was 23 years old when he did this show.
- 24:43He has had a wonderful longevity to his career, even though he
- 24:48has almost no career. Yeah, people know Wongbin.
- 24:53Yeah. He's a household name.
- 24:54He's a household name. And he still does CFS.
- 24:57Like, what are they called? Commercials.
- 25:00And. OK, OK.
- 25:01Yeah. Like, he still does that sort of
- 25:04thing because he's so recognizable.
- 25:08Like, as far as acting, he's like, as far as his acting
- 25:12career, he is content to just live with his wife in, I think,
- 25:18the countryside. And he got away from everything.
- 25:21He didn't. He doesn't need whatever money
- 25:22he made from doing television shows and being a model.
- 25:28Like it sustains him in a way that he doesn't.
- 25:31Need. Yeah, he doesn't need it.
- 25:35I maybe he's just not interested anymore, but I love one bin.
- 25:38I would I would pay money to see him in a drop.
- 25:43Oh my God, if one bin came back in a drama, I would lose my
- 25:46shit. Like the whole page payback that
- 25:49the socials would turn into like A1 bin page.
- 25:52I would lose it. So he's been before he was in
- 25:57autumn in my heart. He starred in Clunky, which is
- 26:01one of the projects that the writer and director had done
- 26:04together before, so he worked with them before, of course, KBS
- 26:08and then after or the same year as Ottoman by Heart.
- 26:13He did Tough Guys Love, which also brought him some notoriety.
- 26:16Friends from 2002. Only six TV shows.
- 26:21That's wild. And it's always hard to be like,
- 26:23as like huge as he is. And he hasn't even been in that
- 26:27many things like crazy. Now I know one bin from the
- 26:32movies that he's done, so he's only done 5 movies, but two of
- 26:38the five are really I I think they're amazing.
- 26:42So he did mother in 2009 with the The director of that was
- 26:47Bong Joon Ho. Oh my gosh, parasite.
- 26:50Parasite So this is 2009. Early Bong Joon Ho mother.
- 26:55He plays a mentally disabled man who gets accused of murder.
- 27:01Wow. And the the mother, his mother,
- 27:05it's about her and her figuring it out, coming to terms with it,
- 27:09figuring out what happened and trying to absolve him of blame.
- 27:15And it's really powerful. It's it'll Rock You.
- 27:19It'll totally Rock You. So mother.
- 27:21And then the Man from Nowhere, which the Korean title, Oh my
- 27:26God, it's one of my favorite Korean movies of all time.
- 27:31Oh my gosh, of all time. And the Korean title is Ajashi.
- 27:37So just Mr. Oh, wow. Oh, wow.
- 27:39Yeah. So the English title of the Man
- 27:41from Noah is so mysterious and like, yeah.
- 27:44Oh, cool. No, it's just Ajashi and Korean.
- 27:48So that's from 2010. Wow.
- 27:51And that's it. That's it.
- 27:53That was the last thing he did was the Man from Noah 14 years
- 27:57ago. That's crazy.
- 27:59It's crazy, it's crazy. I love one bit.
- 28:04Like even before I watched. 1. Bit even before I watched on
- 28:09him, in my heart I loved one bit.
- 28:12I think he's an excellent actor. Oh he's amazing.
- 28:16This was my first show I've seen him in.
- 28:17I've only ever heard of him because he's mentioned so much
- 28:21in other dramas. It's just like, oh, Wong Bin,
- 28:23like Wong Bin, Like, oh, you look like Wong Bin or like, and
- 28:27I'm just like, and now I'm like this.
- 28:28Is this is this is Wong? Bin, you're like this is this is
- 28:32the Wong Bin and I understand like the hype, like his role in
- 28:36this show, Gold, gold, gold, gold, like so good.
- 28:41Yeah, yeah, I have here. I saw this on the Asian wiki for
- 28:45him. It said he shot stardom with his
- 28:47popular role as Tesak in KBS. Is autumn in my heart with his
- 28:51famous famous line on my I can't even know because I'm already
- 28:58laughing on my own day. How much becoming a much
- 29:03imitated slogan by his fans. Wow, do you remember that scene?
- 29:06Yes, that was the line that did it for everyone on.
- 29:10My own day. Wow.
- 29:15I was like, that's the lot I, you know, it was.
- 29:19That's iconic that this show is iconic.
- 29:21It really is. It really is.
- 29:23So I had a time watching this show.
- 29:27I don't think it's a surprise to say that I really love this
- 29:32show. Yeah.
- 29:34Absolutely, I love it too. I how did you feel like might
- 29:38have tell me what your thoughts were?
- 29:40How was your experience? Oh, my gosh.
- 29:43So first I have to say my friend Susie from One is on Opah's pod.
- 29:47Yeah, she was the one that told me about this show 'cause she's
- 29:49been watching K dramas forever. And like, we were at brunch one
- 29:52day and she was like, telling me like the the brief, like the the
- 29:55premise. And I was like, that sounds
- 29:56really juicy. So you knew the premise.
- 29:59Yeah, I knew the premise of it. And so I was like, OK, like, I'm
- 30:01gonna watch this. So I did to my watch list.
- 30:03It's the oldest drama I've ever watched still to this day.
- 30:07And I started it and I was like, OK, let's see how this goes
- 30:10because obviously it's really dated.
- 30:11So like, you know, it's really tiny inside the screen.
- 30:14And I was like, I need to get past the aesthetics of this
- 30:16tiny, But it's like the aspect ratio is almost square.
- 30:21Yeah, yes, yes. But literally I got over that in
- 30:24like 10 minutes because oh, my goodness.
- 30:27Like from the beginning, it sucks you in.
- 30:30The child actors in this show, Oh my gosh.
- 30:36Oh my God. Plays young Unso and TE Wuhuk.
- 30:40Plays young Junso and they carried.
- 30:44Oh my goodness. Like the way that they grip your
- 30:47heart. And like we were saying earlier,
- 30:48like I cried like every episode, especially those early episodes
- 30:51with when it was like them as kids.
- 30:53But I was gripped from the beginning and like all
- 30:55throughout the show, like I just couldn't stop watching it.
- 30:58And I was so invested in the storyline and like the
- 31:02relationship and the romance and like the the push and pull and
- 31:05the love triangle, more of a love square and like it, it was
- 31:09just so gripping and so beautiful, but also like so
- 31:15incredibly heartbreaking to watch.
- 31:17But the story itself was just beautiful and like the lines in
- 31:21this show. Oh my gosh.
- 31:23I just, I had an amazing time watching the show.
- 31:26Like I love every moment of it. Like I literally have no
- 31:30complaints. Like I just love the show so
- 31:32much. I agree I have nothing to add to
- 31:37that. I stayed up till 2:30 in the
- 31:40morning one night just getting, I think it got to from one to
- 31:45episode six. Wow in one night.
- 31:48Just binging it because it was that good, so good.
- 31:53It had me it. I was hooked.
- 31:56I was hooked. You could not tear me away from
- 31:58it. I was watching it on my lunch
- 32:00break. I was trying to fit it in
- 32:02anywhere I could because I wanted to see how this was going
- 32:06to end, how it was going to resolve.
- 32:09I wanted to see the journey and. Yeah.
- 32:12They just don't make them like this anymore.
- 32:14That's literally just like, that's literally what I was
- 32:17saying when I was watching the show.
- 32:18I was like, they don't write dramas.
- 32:20Like they don't. Anymore because I think the
- 32:21thing that I found the most fascinating is because the
- 32:23premise of this show was crazy, right Yeah, the show has such a
- 32:27crazy premise without being mock Jong it's not mock Jong at all
- 32:30and that's what and I'm. Glad you brought this up.
- 32:33Yeah, I was like, how did they make the the cab has this crazy
- 32:36dramatic plot without it being like Mock Jong?
- 32:38Like, I'm not, I'm not unintentionally laughing because
- 32:42things are too landish or anything like that.
- 32:43Like you're literally gripped like you're gripped.
- 32:46And I, I just thought it was genius.
- 32:47And I was like, they don't write shows like this anymore.
- 32:49And even like with like the turns the plot took that I
- 32:52didn't see coming, I was just like, I whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
- 32:56Like they don't do this anymore. They don't.
- 32:58They don't do it anymore. They don't pace dramas like this
- 33:00anymore. You're wondering why you can't
- 33:02get through a 16 episode drama it This is why they don't write
- 33:06it like this anymore. This was so well paced.
- 33:09It was tight. Each episode ended on a crazy
- 33:13Cliff hangover. You're like every single. 1.
- 33:16Every single one you're just like dragged to the next
- 33:18episode. You could not not press play.
- 33:22You were invested. Yep.
- 33:25And it was so well written and it had these these great ebbs
- 33:32and flows in the episode. The pacing was phenomenal and
- 33:37that's why I was always this is This is why I was drawn to K
- 33:40drama in the 1st place was because it had this type of
- 33:44pacing and I could easily get through an entire story in 16 to
- 33:4920 episodes and that was it Like no season 2.
- 33:54I just felt fulfilled. I knew what I knew and I just
- 33:59this was the old school nature of this felt like the like it
- 34:05was a shot of adrenaline. Yeah, into my body.
- 34:11This is why I started watching K drama in the first.
- 34:13Place yes and I love that you said that because when I watched
- 34:16this show I was like I feel like this format and this show
- 34:20captures the essence of K dramas so well.
- 34:23I was like, This is why I love K dramas and now I'm like, I wanna
- 34:27watch all these ancient shows because I was like I need this
- 34:30feeling like This is why I like Hadron was like you.
- 34:33It gives you that all-encompassing feeling.
- 34:36Oh my goodness. And I told you in the DMS, I was
- 34:39like, it felt like I was watching Michael Jackson's
- 34:41Thriller for the first time after living my whole life
- 34:46watching Thriller for the hearing Thriller for the first
- 34:49time. I'd be like, Oh my God, this is
- 34:51it. Like this is the end all be all.
- 34:53This is where pop music gets it from.
- 34:57Yep, right. Like this is the original, this
- 35:01is the formula. Yeah, This is why we have music
- 35:04videos. You know what I'm saying?
- 35:07And there's something about going to the source of it,
- 35:09right? Looking at the ingredients and
- 35:11being like, oh, this is how you get a pie versus like getting
- 35:15some like fusion food later down the line.
- 35:20You're like, I wonder how they got this concept.
- 35:23This is how. I 1000% agree.
- 35:26This is like the blueprint, the blueprint and Wikipedia had like
- 35:30this great section called Running similarities.
- 35:34And I just want to read. I was like, I don't have no
- 35:36notes. This is perfect.
- 35:37I just want to read it out loud. So it says it says this.
- 35:40Many elements of the formula of Korean drama are evident in the
- 35:44shows. Talking about the entire Four
- 35:47Seasons, not Four Seasons, but the endless love series.
- 35:51I call it The Four Seasons as well, just because it's Four
- 35:54Seasons. But anyway, Four Seasons, The
- 35:55Four Seasons. Anyway, the The many elements of
- 36:01the formula are evident in the shows but are retained even more
- 36:04clearly in all four shows. The shows mainly begin with the
- 36:07love that begin at some point in the early childhood or teen
- 36:10years. So this is where we get they met
- 36:13as children. Yes, childhood connection,
- 36:15childhoodness, child connection and continues on until
- 36:18adulthood, usually after a long separation.
- 36:21Yes. This is slightly bent in the
- 36:23third of third of the series as the main characters.
- 36:26First loves are not the main characters.
- 36:27I will not continue that sentence because there's a
- 36:30spoiler for Summer. Yeah.
- 36:31Yeah. The shows also seem to emphasize
- 36:34the scenery, making it into one of the main characters.
- 36:36The rice fields in autumn, the lake in winter, the tea garden
- 36:40in summer, the island in spring. These are all like setting in
- 36:45place and vibes. That is huge in this series, but
- 36:50that carries on into the rest of K drama.
- 36:53You have summer series that have the essence of summer in them
- 36:58and you watch them and you're like, I feel like this is just
- 37:01the takes place in the summer and it's dealing with summer and
- 37:06it's almost like city as a place or setting as a as a character.
- 37:11Yeah, yeah, yeah, absolutely, absolutely.
- 37:14And they do look such a great job with up with like the
- 37:16settings and. Absolutely.
- 37:18Yeah. The show also follows a pattern
- 37:21of having a third wheel, the second male lead, and the
- 37:24jealous girl, the second female lead.
- 37:27Yes, always, always. There was also a third couple in
- 37:31each show, mostly to provide Comic Relief from the otherwise
- 37:34dreary situations presented in each show.
- 37:37Yes. After all, also all the
- 37:41characters in all the series have had the leads endure the
- 37:44disagreement of the parents of both leads, so disagreeing pair
- 37:49like disapproving parents that trope.
- 37:52As for the soundtrack, main instrumental themes for all the
- 37:55series are known classics such as Romance, Anonymal or
- 37:59Anonymous Romance, A piece for guitar in autumn, Moonlight
- 38:02Sonata by Beethoven in winter, Serenade by Franz Schubert in
- 38:05summer, and Clementine in Spring.
- 38:08Yes, and I was telling you before we got on that I still
- 38:11have Clementine in my playlist because of when I watched Spring
- 38:17Waltz. Yes, I love that.
- 38:20In the year 2012 or something like that.
- 38:23It was over 10 years ago, but it was such an intimate part of the
- 38:27show, so intertwined with it, and it left me like I listened
- 38:33to that sound, that soundtrack, and it puts me right back into
- 38:39the drama. Oh I love.
- 38:41That right? That's what OST should do.
- 38:43That right? This concept of OST's, this
- 38:46concept of music being intrinsically linked to the
- 38:50drama. I think people to this day think
- 38:54of these songs and they think of the drama.
- 38:57Yeah, absolutely. They listen to Serenade and they
- 38:59think of Somerset, They listen to Moonlight Sonata and they
- 39:03think of Winter Winter Sonata. It's like this is the original
- 39:08blueprint for having such a memorable OST.
- 39:13Oh, I agree. I totally agree.
- 39:14Yeah. So a couple more fun facts.
- 39:17The series was super successful as you can imagine, averaging
- 39:21viewership ratings of 38.6%. That's crazy.
- 39:26Wow. And reaching a peak viewership
- 39:28of 46.1%. Almost half of everybody in
- 39:33Korea was watching this show. I love that.
- 39:35I love that for autumn in my heart.
- 39:38Yeah, it's considered a pioneer in Korean melodramatic series,
- 39:42launching a worldwide fever commonly referred to as the
- 39:45Korean Wave. So yeah, this launched the
- 39:48Korean Wave in the early 2000s and there's a been a few remakes
- 39:54of it. There is an Endless Love
- 39:55Filipino remake, There's a Thai remake and a Chinese remake.
- 39:59Autumn Fairy Tale is the Chinese remake.
- 40:01And Rakhni. Oh, I'm gonna put you this.
- 40:06Chuan Niran is the TIE remake. Yeah, amazing.
- 40:11One Bin won best new actor at the Beck Song Awards. 31st
- 40:16Daniel Beck Song Award. I know when I saw that I was
- 40:19like damn straight, damn fucking straight.
- 40:24So Kyo won most popular actress at that same Beck Song Awards.
- 40:30But I think that's all the fun facts that I have.
- 40:33But I really, I think this show should be watched by everybody.
- 40:38I agree. I agree.
- 40:41I think if you haven't watched the show and you really want, if
- 40:46you, there's AK drama drought happening right now, by the way.
- 40:49Oh, there is, there is. It's a problem.
- 40:51There's a after lovely runner. People were like, I don't know
- 40:53what to watch. There's a drought.
- 40:55Yeah, yeah, literally. Look, I don't want to be the one
- 40:59to be like, there's 20 plus years of cage dramas to look at.
- 41:04Yeah. But yeah, I it's also, I hate to
- 41:09be this person, but my sister is one.
- 41:12I'll just drag my sister in for a second.
- 41:15My sister is one of those people that doesn't like black and
- 41:17white movies. Mm, Hmm.
- 41:19And I'm like, look, there's so many good black and white
- 41:24movies. Yeah.
- 41:26You're missing out on all of this stuff.
- 41:28Mm Hmm. All of this great content that I
- 41:32know you would love. Yeah.
- 41:34Just because it's black and white.
- 41:37And I feel the same way toward people that are like, I don't
- 41:41like older K dramas. Yeah.
- 41:44They're so cringy. The acting is so bad.
- 41:49No, you're missing. Out the production is so bad,
- 41:54the whining on that I can't stand it.
- 41:57Yeah. Also, like if you look back at
- 41:59shows that came out of the US in the 2000s are just like that.
- 42:04So come on now. Like, it's the same thing.
- 42:07It's the same thing. Yeah.
- 42:14I was saying a few weeks ago on my podcast how I was like, you
- 42:16know, if you are, if you call yourself AK drama lover, like I
- 42:20just think it's so important to like go back and see like where
- 42:24K dramas came from because these stories are so good.
- 42:28They're relevant. Yes, they're relevant.
- 42:31And I was like, and I think that honestly, truly like, like this
- 42:33series is so worth the watch. Like all of the dramas, like
- 42:36they're just they're so good and I think they're important and
- 42:39they're referred to so much in like the dramas that come out
- 42:42now, like they'll refer to like, Oh yeah, like winter stand on
- 42:45the they'll refer to those these dramas.
- 42:48And so like, it's nice to have that context too.
- 42:52Out of the three that I've seen, so I've seen Autumn in my heart,
- 42:56I'm almost done with Summer Set and I've watched Spring Waltz.
- 42:59The order that I love them in is #1 Autumn in my heart.
- 43:02And I'm not even saying that because of recency bias.
- 43:04It's Autumn in my heart all the way.
- 43:05All the way. Yeah, yeah, yeah. #2 spring
- 43:08waltz and #3 summer set. Yeah, and I haven't watched Moon
- 43:13or Sonata yet. I love that.
- 43:15I love that. Yeah, so I hope you get to watch
- 43:18Spring Waltz. Me too.
- 43:20Oh my gosh. That's the first time I ever saw
- 43:23Han Yoju. Oh my gosh, I need to watch it.
- 43:27I need to find it somewhere. Watch that one.
- 43:31Good times, good times, amazing. I don't know.
- 43:35Is there anything else you want to say before we get into the
- 43:37spoiler section 'cause I have. I took episode by episode now.
- 43:43Oh yeah, me too, girl. I'm ready.
- 43:45OK, I don't know. I don't, I don't really don't
- 43:50want to spoil it, 'cause I just, that's how I went into the show
- 43:53was like brawling. I did not know anything.
- 43:57Yeah. And I just kind of want to
- 43:59preserve it for people. Yeah.
- 44:01And not tell them anything. It's just, yeah, just watch it.
- 44:05It just, yeah. I had someone come into my DMS.
- 44:08What did I put? I said something, I told people
- 44:11about the 2:30 AM thing on my stories and I had a bunch of
- 44:14people say like, what are you watching?
- 44:16Because it drama drought, right? Like everyone's like, what are
- 44:18you watching? Wait, what drama is this?
- 44:22Please help me out. So and I was telling them it's
- 44:26autumn in my heart, a 24 year old drama.
- 44:29And one person said I started it today.
- 44:35Yeah, it was a work day. She's like, I started it.
- 44:38I'm already on episode 6 and I've worked full time and I was
- 44:44like OK. Because you can't.
- 44:46You can't stop. You cannot stop.
- 44:49With this? No, no.
- 44:51I was like, I told her you can cut the melodrama with a knife.
- 44:55Yeah, yeah. And she said say less.
- 45:01I was like, I was crying every episode.
- 45:04It's so emotional. I mean, what's not to love?
- 45:09I've already said this. I'm an angsty bitch.
- 45:12This is full of angst. This is so much angst.
- 45:21So anyway, what would you rate this show out of five?
- 45:23Hold your bottles. So I have to say first I
- 45:27reviewed this show with Lola on my podcast and I at that time
- 45:32when we reviewed it, I think I gave it a 4.5.
- 45:36Yeah. And now I would give it A5 the
- 45:40way. No, because like every time,
- 45:43like Jess, I watched this show in January.
- 45:46I have not stopped thinking about this show.
- 45:49I've watched other 2024 dramas this year.
- 45:51Autumn in My Heart is the best drama I've watched this year.
- 45:54I love. It I cannot stop thinking about
- 45:56this drama like it's in my heart forever.
- 45:58Yes, it's one of my favorites of all time.
- 46:00It's going the five S 5 so 5 I just.
- 46:05Obsess. I love to hear it.
- 46:08I love to hear it. Do you know what?
- 46:12You've inspired me. I'll give it a five out of five
- 46:14as well. Oh, I love it.
- 46:16I was going for a four and a half and I and I, I was going to
- 46:19say why, but then I'm like, you know what?
- 46:20That spoiler territory. Yeah, I'll just give it a five
- 46:24out of five. It left me with such a feeling
- 46:27like it stuck to your bones. You know what I'm saying?
- 46:29Yes, yes. Yes, it.
- 46:33Really impacted me. There's nothing like watching
- 46:36the original. Nope, it's nothing like it.
- 46:39Nothing like watching the real thing.
- 46:43Nope. Not a copy, not an imitation.
- 46:47And you know, I saw a recent thing on TikTok and I can't
- 46:50remember what it was about. Oh, it was about movies?
- 46:54No, it was about Star Wars specifically.
- 46:56Uh huh. I.
- 46:57Don't know if you're a Star Wars person, but.
- 46:59I've never watched any I I know. Oh well this is perfect then.
- 47:03It's a perfect conversation to have.
- 47:04Low risk. Low risk cause the Star Wars
- 47:08fandom is completely bonkers. It's like Alchemy of Souls times
- 47:1110. So man.
- 47:13Yeah, yeah, maybe 20 * 20. So the conversation was about
- 47:19how the new content that's being produced for Star Wars is so
- 47:24disappointing and not, not sort of as magical as the original,
- 47:33right, series by George Lucas, which is, you know, started in
- 47:371977 and went into the 80s. And those first three movies
- 47:41were something to behold, right? And it started this whole thing
- 47:45like, it snowballed, right? But what they were saying was
- 47:50the people that are writing Star Wars content now are, are fans
- 47:54of Star Wars, yes. And they're writing it because
- 47:57and they're writing it based on this is all the content that
- 48:00they have consumed. They've consumed Star Wars
- 48:03content, right? But George Lucas, the creator
- 48:07did not consume Star Wars content.
- 48:10He consumed the real thing, like the real like sci-fi serials
- 48:14from the 50s and 60s. And he was taking inspiration
- 48:18from Dune, the book he was taking inspiration from, like
- 48:22the original sci-fi of the era and turning it into something
- 48:27completely original and new. Yeah, yeah.
- 48:30And I was like, that is so applicable to K drama.
- 48:34Wow. And how the old K dramas were
- 48:37not taking inspiration from itself.
- 48:40Right. They were taking inspiration
- 48:42from other places. Yes.
- 48:44From different places and, and the way society was and.
- 48:48And it was so unique. Yeah, yeah.
- 48:53And you'd never seen these tropes before.
- 48:56And if you did, you'd never seen them like this.
- 49:00Wow, that's an amazing metaphor. Yeah.
- 49:02And then now the K dramas that you see are being written by
- 49:06people usually who love K dramas, who've been in the
- 49:09industry, who grew up on K dramas, right, who have a
- 49:15different set of inspiration. Yeah.
- 49:19And education. And it feels recycled because it
- 49:24is recycled. Yup, Yup, Yup.
- 49:28Wow, that's such a good point. That is such a good.
- 49:30Point. So I thought that was relevant
- 49:33to K dramas, the Star Wars conversation.
- 49:36Yeah, no, I love that. I love that.
- 49:38Wow, that's that's a really good metaphor.
- 49:41It's really good. Bravo.
- 49:42It's really. Good.
- 49:43Thank you. So with that being said, I think
- 49:45we're going to get into some spoilers right after.
- 49:48I know, right after this. Excuse me, I can't.
- 49:54You know, I have. No, I'm sorry.
- 49:58I swear. Discussing shit?
- 50:01What? All right, we're on the other
- 50:06side of spoilers, so anything goes.
- 50:07We are going to talk at length about Autumn in My Heart and
- 50:10everything that happens, all of the plot points and beats, each
- 50:14of us has brought notes to the table.
- 50:17They might be very robust. Yes, episode by episode notes.
- 50:22So I I would love to throw it to you and see where you'd like to
- 50:26start. I think a good place to start
- 50:29probably is like we see like at the very beginning that Unsaw
- 50:34and Shanae are switched at birth, the switched.
- 50:37At birth thing. Yeah, they're, they're both, you
- 50:40know, born in the same hospital, of course.
- 50:42And unfortunately, little Jinsa, he's a little toddler.
- 50:46He just, you know, stumbles into the nursery, he's touching
- 50:50stuff, and he drops, you know, the name tag.
- 50:53And then the nurse comes and she just puts the name tag and the
- 50:56close to this bassinet and was the wrong bassinet.
- 50:59And, you know, Jinsa's father is like, oh, Jinsa, come here, da,
- 51:03da, da. Let's go see your sister.
- 51:04And I was like, oh, no, I was like, yeah.
- 51:07And the fact that it was Jinsa as well that did it.
- 51:11Yeah, he. Swapped their fate, oh man.
- 51:14He did it himself. Wow, just.
- 51:18But it's it's a child and I really blame the father.
- 51:23Yeah, I mean, why was your two year old stumbling around by
- 51:26themselves to the hospital? I blame two things.
- 51:29The hospital #1 mm hmm. Right, because what is that?
- 51:33Shabby ass way of identifying the children.
- 51:36Because the babies, in addition to the the sign on the bassinet,
- 51:39there should be a bracelet as well.
- 51:41Everything should add up. You're just depending on this
- 51:43little flimsy index card to indicate whose baby this is.
- 51:50Yeah, that was, it's super janky.
- 51:53And then the father for leaving his toddler alone in a hospital.
- 51:57Yeah, yeah. But the father showed poor
- 51:59judgement all throughout. Yeah, oh, super poor judgement
- 52:05throughout the drama. Absolutely.
- 52:08So I, I don't blame the male lead.
- 52:13Oh, yeah, no at all. Like even though he did it, it's
- 52:16like it's a, it's a freaking toddler.
- 52:19Yeah, no, he's a baby. It was just unfortunate that
- 52:21like, it was like him that like. It wasn't even a toddler that
- 52:25could talk to you. It was like a 2 year old.
- 52:28It was like a one year old. He was.
- 52:30A baby like a little baby. Yeah, so I don't know what to
- 52:37say about the childhood episodes because they are so much they
- 52:44they're so much like the and they're so vibrant, like in my
- 52:47mind too. Mine too.
- 52:48Mine too. Right, because they show this
- 52:51idyllic home life. They're laughing together at the
- 52:55kitchen table and you're just like, what's going to go wrong?
- 52:59Yeah, they're the sweetest family ever.
- 53:01They're the sweetest, most perfect family, but when you see
- 53:05Jinsong and Unso together, you're like, what is this vibe
- 53:08between them? What is this vibe I.
- 53:14Chose to ignore the. Vibe no no you.
- 53:23I don't know. I I'm not even going there.
- 53:26I was like, I am ignoring this. It's not happening.
- 53:28Look, I have to say I don't have any brothers.
- 53:30I only have a younger. Sister.
- 53:32Yeah, same here. Oh.
- 53:33Oh, OK. I was hoping you had a brother
- 53:35so you could like speak to like having a brother and being like,
- 53:39no, brothers are gross. I always wanted a brother I've
- 53:47always wanted. One really I no, I can't even
- 53:50say I want a brother. I want an older brother
- 53:53specifically like. Really.
- 53:55Well, why did you want an older, older brother?
- 53:58I don't know, it just like I I think maybe like the shows I was
- 54:00watching growing up and I'm like having an older brother just
- 54:02seems like a old brother protect me and look out for me and like,
- 54:06I don't know, something like that.
- 54:08Oh, I love my sister though. Me and my sister had a great
- 54:10time. But yeah, OK.
- 54:12Yeah, yeah, yeah. I just, I felt backward when I
- 54:17saw how they were interacting and how there were there was
- 54:22electricity between them. Let me say this.
- 54:25I I don't think it was. I feel like it was all jinsal
- 54:28They like unsal was not those are not the not the Yeah, it
- 54:32was. She was.
- 54:33No, she was. Jockeying some stuff back.
- 54:35No, yeah. I know.
- 54:38It was mutual. I really feel like it was all
- 54:40Jones. No, it was.
- 54:41Mutual. I didn't want to admit it like
- 54:44he clearly had a crush on her which.
- 54:46He had a crush on. His sister.
- 54:48Yeah, I'm gonna. He had a crush on her brother,
- 54:50especially when she took off her little skirt when it got wet in
- 54:52the rain. No, I know.
- 54:54And she was like. She kind of looked facetious.
- 54:58No, she did it. No.
- 55:00And I was like, what are you doing?
- 55:01And she was like, it's OK, I have a a underskirt on and you
- 55:05can clearly see her little white underwear is underneath.
- 55:08The under score No no, no. No.
- 55:10And I was like, we're not going to talk about this.
- 55:12We're not going to talk about this.
- 55:14I have to say, like when I saw that scene, I texted Susie and I
- 55:19was like, Susie, what's happening with these?
- 55:23I was like, I don't, I don't what's what's going on?
- 55:26I don't like can you break this down for me?
- 55:30And I was like, I'm going to keep going, but I was like, I
- 55:32don't like I don't like this is weird.
- 55:35And that's why I like just literally like shut put it in a
- 55:37corner of my brain and I just shut it off.
- 55:38And I was like, we're not I refuse.
- 55:41I refuse. It was, I was like, this is so
- 55:44problematic, but you as an audience know they're not
- 55:47biologically related, right? Right.
- 55:49That's not really his sister, but they grew up together.
- 55:53Right, and there's a brother they know.
- 55:55And as far as they? Know they're brother and sisters
- 55:58so I'm like this is I'm like sweating like I was like
- 56:02sweating watching the first couple of episodes like this is
- 56:06this is they don't know but they but they but they got a little
- 56:13rapport going here. They don't act like brother and
- 56:17sister. It was he was shutting down
- 56:22crushes left and right. He was throwing love notes in
- 56:24the trash when the people when the girls would come up to him
- 56:27at school. Yeah, no, he was it was he was
- 56:32down bad. Yeah, I just and she.
- 56:35Chose to ignore it. I hate I was like I can't.
- 56:39Is so this was so it was very icky, but you're like, the only
- 56:46thing that saves it is that they told you immediately.
- 56:48Exactly. They're not brother and sister.
- 56:51Exactly which I guess like explains his like pool towards
- 56:55her I guess. But what they're saying is that
- 56:58I think the implication is that they always knew.
- 57:03Like in their. Yeah, mind and body and
- 57:06subconscious. They just knew.
- 57:08They're not brother and sister. Yeah.
- 57:12Yeah, absolutely. That was the implication.
- 57:14Yes, which is good. They told us literally what
- 57:16them. The show starts that right.
- 57:18That is not the case. Yeah.
- 57:20But the character, they've somehow, someway always knew.
- 57:25Yeah, that. But the parents didn't know.
- 57:29No, they did not. The parents did no and the whole
- 57:33thing about like her developing body and they're sitting at the
- 57:36kitchen table and the mom goes, oh, her boobs are coming in.
- 57:38And the truth sounds like her boobs.
- 57:41Let me see. And then he starts chasing her
- 57:43around the house and I'm like like in the fetal position, like
- 57:50on the floor. Oh my God, honestly chose to
- 57:55ignore. I'm like turning red.
- 58:02Like it just it, it's so it's, it's crazy.
- 58:09Like it's so crazy. It is.
- 58:13But then she has this bully at school.
- 58:17Yes. The bully is simply jealous of
- 58:21her, and the bully turns out to be the real sister.
- 58:27Yes, that reveal when they revealed that wild not.
- 58:33Wild. Yeah.
- 58:35And Shanae was so nasty to Unsa. Unsa was like, the sweetest
- 58:39thing, like, the sweetest girl ever.
- 58:42And Shanae was just, like, making her life a living hell,
- 58:45like, you know, framing her for things, making fun of her, all
- 58:49this stuff. And, you know, Shanae doesn't
- 58:52have a loving home. She lives with just her mom.
- 58:54Her mom is not that nice to her. Yeah, she came from an abusive
- 58:58car. Yeah, her brother abuses her as
- 59:00well, and she's angry and she's really jealous of Unsuck 'cause
- 59:04she's like, why does the school have everything and I have
- 59:05nothing? Yeah, and that's the that's the
- 59:08thing that I was like trying to rationalize my hate away.
- 59:15I was like, I need to forgive this little girl because she
- 59:21grew up in really in squalor. Yeah.
- 59:23And she has no opportunities. She should be the president of
- 59:29the class, but she's not because and so is rich and she's well
- 59:34liked. And so she gets voted the
- 59:36president. It it was like things are, I
- 59:40don't know. But then I didn't have any
- 59:42forgiveness for her at all. No, no.
- 59:45I just I have a list of things in here called Bitch sister.
- 59:51Oh my God. It's an in order.
- 59:52I have everything she did to Enso, so.
- 59:54Oh, my gosh. We'll just go through it now.
- 59:57Let's talk about the sister now. Yes.
- 59:58So the sister, Sheenay, she was jealous of Unso in school and
- 1:00:05like, jealous in like I want to kill her.
- 1:00:08Jealous. Yeah.
- 1:00:09It wasn't a normal type of jealous.
- 1:00:10So just like I want you gone. Yes.
- 1:00:12Like I want you to disappear. Yes.
- 1:00:15Yeah. She steals her fancy underskirt
- 1:00:17and violates it with graffiti. Hangs it up high in a tree for
- 1:00:21the whole school to see, then makes her OPA Jinsol beg on his
- 1:00:28knees to end the bullying if he paints this poem for her in the
- 1:00:31school project tip or tat. Yep.
- 1:00:35Immediately starts cozying up to her her stuff in her room and
- 1:00:41trying on her clothes. She has no respect for her
- 1:00:43boundaries and her stuff her like, this is her room.
- 1:00:49She has. No, she's like, this is my room.
- 1:00:52Yeah, she's materialistic and entitled.
- 1:00:56Yeah, absolutely. She manipulates the mom into
- 1:01:01accepting her as her biological daughter with tears and all of
- 1:01:05this drama and fanfare. And I was so.
- 1:01:09Pissed. Yeah.
- 1:01:10She was really manipulative and like, honestly, like kind of a
- 1:01:15sociopath. Yes.
- 1:01:17Kind of like the way that you just like up and we're like so
- 1:01:20excited to leave your mom's house.
- 1:01:21Granted, I know she was coming from an no, not an ideal
- 1:01:24situation, but she's like, oh, this is my house and I'm just
- 1:01:26going to plug myself in. Oh, yeah, I'm going to wear
- 1:01:28these clothes. I'm going to do this.
- 1:01:29I have money now. Yay.
- 1:01:30Like, like literally like bye bye old life.
- 1:01:33Like she just didn't care at all.
- 1:01:35Yeah, she was hateful on her birthday and hesitant to invite
- 1:01:41Unzo to her party. Yeah.
- 1:01:44She was a bragger in front of the whole school with her new
- 1:01:48found wealth in a way that Unso never was.
- 1:01:52Like Unso was kind hearted. She was willing to share her
- 1:01:57stuff and the attention just came sort of naturally.
- 1:02:01Yeah, yeah, exactly. Because she's so nice girl.
- 1:02:04Yeah, nice. Then she frames her on the
- 1:02:09birthday for the theft of the watch and does the whole
- 1:02:15manipulative tears gimmick again.
- 1:02:18That scene made me so angry. I was, oh God, I was punching
- 1:02:23pillows. I was so pissed.
- 1:02:26Off I was ripping telephone books.
- 1:02:28I was like, Oh no, I was so mad then.
- 1:02:33This is all in childhood. Then in adulthood, she
- 1:02:37manipulates Unso into trying to leave Junso in the middle of the
- 1:02:41night, convincing her that they would all be better off without
- 1:02:45her, that the mom is mentally fragile, she's been sick for
- 1:02:49years, seeing her would do no good, so she should just leave.
- 1:02:54No. And this whole girl like this.
- 1:02:55Too. Yeah, when it's like the
- 1:02:57opposite. Because the mom is sick, because
- 1:02:58she misses Enzo so much. Yeah, and but she doesn't care
- 1:03:01about her mom. She doesn't care about anybody
- 1:03:05but herself. She's.
- 1:03:06Selfish. Mm hmm.
- 1:03:08She's a narcissist. Yeah, she is.
- 1:03:11And then she slaps unso in front of Junso at the family reunion
- 1:03:14meal. When she laid hands on her, I
- 1:03:16was like, Oh no, not in front of the whole family.
- 1:03:22Yeah, I was in front of Deemable about Shanae.
- 1:03:26She cancelled her staff accommodation so that she had
- 1:03:29nowhere to live. Yeah, and my thing is like, why
- 1:03:32are you still mad? You got everything you wanted.
- 1:03:34You got everything you got. You got your family, you got to
- 1:03:37study abroad. You have a cool job, so why are
- 1:03:41you still angry? That's what I didn't understand
- 1:03:44about her. I'm like, there's no reason for
- 1:03:45you to be that that bitter. But she's jealous again because
- 1:03:47she knows that her family loves unsub probably more than they
- 1:03:51love her. So that's why she was still
- 1:03:53bitter about it. I'm just like girl, like get a
- 1:03:56grip. It was bad and then she stole
- 1:03:59the letter. Unsol wrote to Unsol saying that
- 1:04:01she loves him and declared it at the family meeting that they
- 1:04:04love each other so they can't become adopted siblings because
- 1:04:08they're in love with each other. And even like she had the letter
- 1:04:11in her possession so she like throws it down to her shocked
- 1:04:15parents. And if she was ever concerned
- 1:04:16about her mom's health, she would have never done that shit.
- 1:04:19Yeah, she doesn't care. She doesn't care anyone.
- 1:04:22Yeah, it was bad. It was.
- 1:04:25I was like, Oh my God. And then she kind of calms down
- 1:04:29and they they didn't write enough stuff for her like in the
- 1:04:32back half for. Her to Oh yeah, so nothing for.
- 1:04:34Her to do. Yeah, Yeah.
- 1:04:35Which is, I mean, it's fine, but I was genuinely angry with her.
- 1:04:41Yeah. She was a horrible person.
- 1:04:43She was a terrible person. Yeah.
- 1:04:45Yeah. And the last time that I saw
- 1:04:47this actress, she was the. She was in Boys Over Flowers.
- 1:04:52Do you remember her in Boys Over Flowers?
- 1:04:54I've only seen one episode of Boys Over Flowers, is she in the
- 1:04:56first? Oh my God, only one episode.
- 1:05:00No, cause yeah, I couldn't go on.
- 1:05:01I. Couldn't go on.
- 1:05:03OK, what about delightful girl Chunyung?
- 1:05:05Have you seen that? I haven't seen that one, Oh my.
- 1:05:09OK, well, she's the delightful girl.
- 1:05:11Chunyang also, she was nice in that show.
- 1:05:13She was that, yeah. So she was nice.
- 1:05:19Yeah. So seeing her be like this vile,
- 1:05:23crazy sociopath manipulating her own blood family, slapping
- 1:05:29people, I couldn't handle it. I couldn't.
- 1:05:32She was nasty, she was horrible. Yeah, so the childhood stuff was
- 1:05:36totally marred by her nonsense. I had a question, though,
- 1:05:42because in childhood on the birthday June, so is like, I'm
- 1:05:46going to take this what? He gives SHINee a watch for her
- 1:05:51birthday and he's like, I'm going to take this watch that I
- 1:05:53gifted to Unso for her birthday last year to her.
- 1:05:57It's the one thing she wants. Yeah.
- 1:05:59So she goes, OK, I'll give it to her pause.
- 1:06:04Why would June so trust she didn't?
- 1:06:07That's her school. That's unso.
- 1:06:09School bully. I don't know if he thought that
- 1:06:12like, oh, like, you know, because she's in the family now
- 1:06:15and she's my sister. She's not going to do anything
- 1:06:17bad. Like I think he was just giving
- 1:06:19her the benefit of the doubt. No, no, like it's just doesn't
- 1:06:23work that like he. Shouldn't have given her the
- 1:06:25benefit of that, but I think that's what he was doing because
- 1:06:27I think he wanted to believe the best because just on.
- 1:06:29And so we're both just like very like well meaning, like naive,
- 1:06:33but like kind people. It's like, I really feel like
- 1:06:36they believe like the best in people.
- 1:06:38And so like he was just like, you know, Shanae's my sister.
- 1:06:42I she's not going to hurt Lunso. He knows, like she, she knows I
- 1:06:44love Lunso as a sister. So, you know, but yeah, no, she
- 1:06:49she did what she does. Yeah.
- 1:06:52Were there any moments in the childhood episodes that you were
- 1:06:54like, Oh my God, this broke me or this stood out to me?
- 1:06:58Well, Oh no. The scene when so you know,
- 1:07:03Lensol finds out that she's not, you know, the biological
- 1:07:06daughter, so she goes running away and this.
- 1:07:10Is because of SHINee also? Yeah, like SHINee just.
- 1:07:12Shows up. Exactly.
- 1:07:14She shows up and just this dramatic thing and just like
- 1:07:16you're not their daughter. I am.
- 1:07:17And it was just like so sad and like, you know, Lensol runs away
- 1:07:21and Jensol finds her and he like gives her like a piggy back on
- 1:07:25back ride on the way back home. Stop it.
- 1:07:29And it was just, it was just so sad.
- 1:07:31But the one scene when so Unsal's mom went to.
- 1:07:37And so I was like, you know, adoptive.
- 1:07:40I don't know, her mom went to like her biological mom.
- 1:07:43Yeah. And was like, can I take Unsal
- 1:07:45and SHINee to the US? Like, can I please take both of
- 1:07:49them? And because she, of course
- 1:07:51doesn't want to like Unsal, like that's her daughter too.
- 1:07:53And so, you know, Unsal's biological mom is like, well,
- 1:07:58she's like, I guess I can just live as if I've never had a
- 1:08:01child. And you can, she's just like
- 1:08:03walking away. And you could tell that she's
- 1:08:05still defeated. Like I went from have like I
- 1:08:07don't, I don't have a child anymore.
- 1:08:09And until I was there witnessing that conversation and she said
- 1:08:14sorry to her mom. And she was like, I'm sorry,
- 1:08:16like I can't, I can't leave my biological mom like this.
- 1:08:20I, I feel bad. And so she's ran up to her and
- 1:08:23she called her mom for the first time and like, you know,
- 1:08:26officially, like moved into her house.
- 1:08:28And it was just devastating. Like that scene is just like
- 1:08:32always in my head or just like how heartbreaking.
- 1:08:35It was. Yeah.
- 1:08:37Because Unso comes across as someone who's extremely
- 1:08:39truthful, even to herself. She rarely lies.
- 1:08:44And something that she couldn't lie about was calling her her
- 1:08:46mom, her biological mom. Mom.
- 1:08:49She couldn't say, oh, Ma, she would always stop short of
- 1:08:53calling her mom when she moved in with her.
- 1:08:57And to the point where her mom says if you can't call me mom,
- 1:09:01just call me Ajima. Yeah.
- 1:09:03Yeah. And she try.
- 1:09:05She's kind of like being a little more gentle with her than
- 1:09:07she was with Shenay. Absolutely.
- 1:09:09She was so much nicer to her, so much.
- 1:09:11Nicer to her, yeah, just 'cause I think she felt guilty and bad
- 1:09:17and also they're two different personalities.
- 1:09:20They're going to require two different methods of raising.
- 1:09:23Yeah, so she was just very careful with her.
- 1:09:28And yeah, that conversation between the moms and she was
- 1:09:30like, please, like I'll take her and I'll raise her, blah, blah,
- 1:09:34blah. I'll take her to the United
- 1:09:35States. And she was like, I OK, like it.
- 1:09:38It was such a difficult conversation to see.
- 1:09:42And when she when Unso spots her, what are we going to call
- 1:09:49OG mom? We'll call her OG Mom.
- 1:09:51Yeah, when she spots her OG mom and calls out Oh my to her in
- 1:09:58front of the bio mom. Oh my God, the tears that we're
- 1:10:02running down. With these, Yeah.
- 1:10:04And like, they both broke when like both moms broke when like
- 1:10:08she said that it was. 'Cause she feels that that's her
- 1:10:14mom. Like, up until like a week or
- 1:10:16something. Yeah, yeah, Ago.
- 1:10:18That was her mom. Exactly.
- 1:10:21It's not like you could just switch at the drop of a hat, all
- 1:10:24of this. Like that's she breastfed her,
- 1:10:26she took care of her. She taught her how to speak.
- 1:10:29She taught her how to walk. Like that's their child.
- 1:10:32Yeah, yeah. And it was just so emotional to
- 1:10:36see her run back to the the OG mom.
- 1:10:41The OG mom say we're going to go to the US.
- 1:10:43You're going to you're coming with us and her tearfully think
- 1:10:48to her about her bio mom Yeah yeah and and negate this negate
- 1:10:54what she really wants. Exactly.
- 1:10:57And it, like, goes to show the type of person that she was.
- 1:11:00She's such an empathetic, like, a passionate person.
- 1:11:04And she was like, I'm not gonna just let my biological mom just
- 1:11:07go off by herself as if she's never had a child when I'm right
- 1:11:10here. Yeah, like, I don't want to do
- 1:11:12this. And this is really hard.
- 1:11:13But like, she felt like it was the right thing to do.
- 1:11:15Yeah. And she would always.
- 1:11:17Do the right. Thing.
- 1:11:18And she would always do the right thing.
- 1:11:19Yeah, it was rough. But the other scene I had was
- 1:11:22when this is like one of like, Jinsong, Jinsong's like last
- 1:11:27meetings. And he was like, if you could be
- 1:11:31born again, like, what would you be?
- 1:11:33And she said I would be a tree so I don't have to part with
- 1:11:36anyone. I would just play, grow my roots
- 1:11:41down where I am and Oh my God. Oh my gosh.
- 1:11:46Yeah, it was. It was very emotional when she
- 1:11:49said tree. It's such a natural thing, too.
- 1:11:53Like she didn't say birds, I can go where I want.
- 1:11:56She didn't say, you know, fish like it's, you know, swim and,
- 1:12:00you know, be where I want. She said tree.
- 1:12:03She wants stability. She wants, oh, she wants to put
- 1:12:09down roots. She wants, you know.
- 1:12:12Oh, it's very. It's just a lot like it was just
- 1:12:16all their very poetic yes, and like all their parting scenes,
- 1:12:20like even with like the little like they had these like family
- 1:12:22mugs and like when unsafe first left the house, she took her mug
- 1:12:27and like no, she left her mug actually.
- 1:12:28And like when her and Jusama at the beach one time he brought
- 1:12:31like her mug to her. She's like this belongs to you.
- 1:12:33This is yours. I'm like, it's just.
- 1:12:36The mug just killed me. The mugs.
- 1:12:38My gosh, the. Ceramic cups that she.
- 1:12:41She takes hers. So she removes her mug from the
- 1:12:44fam and it has her face on it. Yeah.
- 1:12:49It killed me when she took her mug.
- 1:12:53And she's so childlike, right? I know she's a child, but she's
- 1:12:56very childlike. Yeah.
- 1:12:58Having these sort of conversations with the mugs as
- 1:13:00if they were her family. Mm.
- 1:13:03Hmm. And, you know, she removes
- 1:13:05herself from the family. It's very symbolic.
- 1:13:08Sad. And then like he brought his mug
- 1:13:10to her and like, it was just like, come on.
- 1:13:14Like how in My dude, this is like the first three episodes.
- 1:13:17And I'm literally. Like I'm tired of crying.
- 1:13:20Like it was just, it was so much.
- 1:13:22Every episode they're crying. Let me just yeah.
- 1:13:25And every single episode and these kids can cry big fat
- 1:13:28tears. Kids were crying big fat tears
- 1:13:31like and then even like the scene when like the family was
- 1:13:34leaving for the US, her running after the car.
- 1:13:37I was done. I was finished.
- 1:13:41And like I wish why couldn't they tell her?
- 1:13:43I I know she told sad that she didn't want to know when they
- 1:13:45were leaving, but like I wish they could have had something
- 1:13:48because she's literally running after the car and like crying
- 1:13:51and it was just so sad. Like I it was so sad.
- 1:13:55I know, I know. It was super sad.
- 1:13:59And they they just leave her like that's her.
- 1:14:01Oh God. So then we get to adulthood and
- 1:14:06we meet the second male lead and of course he's a chaebol, of
- 1:14:10course, of course. But he is basically undercover
- 1:14:18at this seaside resort. Golf.
- 1:14:22I think it's like a golf golfing resort or something.
- 1:14:25Yeah. Staying in one of the villas.
- 1:14:26Yeah. And she's a telephone operator.
- 1:14:30When I saw that she was an operator at the hotel, I was
- 1:14:32like, well, this job doesn't even exist anymore.
- 1:14:36It just doesn't even exist anymore.
- 1:14:39Right. And he's been flirting with her
- 1:14:41over the phone. Yes.
- 1:14:44And he's doing that thinking she because she says at some point
- 1:14:47that she's a 37 year old woman with two kids.
- 1:14:50Yeah, yeah, She's like, get off my back.
- 1:14:52Get off my back. Because he was like bitching at
- 1:14:54her and she was like, you can't talk to me that way.
- 1:14:56I'm a 37 year old woman with two kids.
- 1:14:58Yeah. And so he continued to flirt
- 1:15:01with her, thinking she was a 37 year old woman with two kids.
- 1:15:04He lo and behold, she's not. She's like 22 and perfect.
- 1:15:09Yeah. No kids.
- 1:15:10Yeah. And he's like completely
- 1:15:15infatuated with her. Yes.
- 1:15:16Yes, completely infatuated with her.
- 1:15:19I think somewhere inside episodes 4 through 6, the he
- 1:15:25like there's like an attempted sexual assault.
- 1:15:28Yes. Yes, we have to talk about this
- 1:15:30because this was marrying my my impression of the second medal
- 1:15:37lead for the longest time. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I agree.
- 1:15:42I have crazy eyes right now. Yeah, it was jarring cause yeah,
- 1:15:46he like, you know, she came to the room 'cause I think she
- 1:15:49like, also was like a maid. He makes her a maid.
- 1:15:52Yeah, he makes her a maid. And like, he basically, like,
- 1:15:54pushed her up against the wall. He was like trying to forcibly,
- 1:15:56like, kiss her. And she's like, Oh my gosh,
- 1:15:58like, get off me. She literally had to run away.
- 1:15:59Yeah, yeah. And but I have to say, like, I
- 1:16:02was like, oh, no, I'm done with him.
- 1:16:03Like, we're done. Me too.
- 1:16:04But then like, as the show progressed, you like, like,
- 1:16:06'cause he literally, he really did turn on a new leaf though.
- 1:16:10Like, cause a lot of times when things like that happen to show,
- 1:16:12I'm like, yeah, we're done here. We're done.
- 1:16:14Like, I'm not, I hate you. But like, he really, like when
- 1:16:18he said he was sorry, he was actually sorry and he like stuck
- 1:16:21to his word and he showed that he was actually, you know, like
- 1:16:25a good guy. He just, but like I, I was
- 1:16:28scared for a minute, 'cause I was like, Oh my gosh, I'm gonna
- 1:16:29hate you for the entire show, right?
- 1:16:31And like, I and I hate that he, I hate that like, he did that
- 1:16:34'cause there's no excuse for it. And I think, like, how did they
- 1:16:36make him do that? Like, yeah, I wish they, I wish
- 1:16:40he didn't do that though. But I I appreciated the
- 1:16:42character development because they took it as a character.
- 1:16:47There would be no competition between the second male lead and
- 1:16:52the male lead as it is. I had second male lead syndrome
- 1:16:59pretty bad. I never had second male lead
- 1:17:01syndrome. Wow.
- 1:17:02I was like Down bad. But by the end of the show, by
- 1:17:07the end of the show, I was down. Bad.
- 1:17:09Yeah. Like, after watching the show, I
- 1:17:10was like, this, this is the, this is what second male lead
- 1:17:14syndrome should feel like. And this is what it is.
- 1:17:17Yes, Yeah, This is what what it should feel like.
- 1:17:20But he really did turn a new leaf.
- 1:17:22And he, like did a complete 180. Yeah, which I appreciated.
- 1:17:26I think he turned into 'cause you're even.
- 1:17:29She's questioning him and his intentions if he's a good
- 1:17:33person. Episode 7, she says.
- 1:17:35Like, I don't even know if he's a good person, but yeah.
- 1:17:38Yeah, I think I just want to give it a try with, you know,
- 1:17:41One Bin's character. Yeah.
- 1:17:43She hasn't had anyone like her in a long time, not since OPA,
- 1:17:47like June. So her brother, it's a lot.
- 1:17:56And she really, I think it's presented rather.
- 1:18:00How do I put this? When you watch the show, you
- 1:18:03don't feel it as much, but when you look back on it, she was
- 1:18:07very, she used him. She used the second male lead.
- 1:18:12Oh yeah, absolutely. A lot.
- 1:18:14I do think, yeah, I think and I don't.
- 1:18:16Think like she was like, no, exactly.
- 1:18:19It wasn't malicious. Yeah, but she was using him and
- 1:18:24taking advantage of his feelings for her to make the relationship
- 1:18:30seem like more than it than it was, especially in front of
- 1:18:34June. So mm.
- 1:18:36Hmm. Yeah, I it's weird though,
- 1:18:38because like, I don't know, like I feel like, I don't know, I
- 1:18:42don't know if she, I don't think she ever.
- 1:18:44I don't know how I feel the relationship was complicated
- 1:18:48because I feel like she was honestly that relationship
- 1:18:50against her own will. So I don't even really think
- 1:18:53that she was consciously like trying to like use taysock to
- 1:18:56like, you know, help help Jinsong move on or whatever.
- 1:18:59Like in because I feel like there was.
- 1:19:01She would always say something that was like, Oh yeah, I'm
- 1:19:04going out with PSOC now. Oh, he picked me up.
- 1:19:09Oh, this, that and the other and made the relationship seem like
- 1:19:12a relationship versus PSOC likes me and it's one sided and I'm
- 1:19:17like I've got him at arm's length at all times.
- 1:19:20Yeah, yeah, I think I took that at her just being passive 'cause
- 1:19:24she was a, she was extremely passive.
- 1:19:27And like, I'm like, you're letting this relationship happen
- 1:19:30to you. I don't think you ever actually
- 1:19:32like confirmed with TESOL that you wanted to be engaged like.
- 1:19:36Right, like it all was just. Kind of like happening at this.
- 1:19:38At this point in time, if she says nothing, I think TESOL is
- 1:19:43going oh she's OK with whatever. Yeah, like it's a yes,
- 1:19:47literally. Like that's an OK for me versus
- 1:19:52what are we because she hasn't said anything.
- 1:19:55At all. Like she was just kind of like
- 1:19:57letting it happen. And yeah, I don't, I don't know.
- 1:20:02And also we didn't include the fact that TSOC and Jinsa are
- 1:20:06besties and. Yes, they're best friends.
- 1:20:09They're besties and Jinsa is engaged to a girl named Yumi
- 1:20:15and. Yo, fuck Yumi, Yumi, Yumi.
- 1:20:20Yeah, he's engaged. He's the real villain of this
- 1:20:22show. She yeah, she's yeah, they're
- 1:20:24engaged and like they were at their engagement ceremony.
- 1:20:27And you mean Ashton saw who was your first love and he said
- 1:20:30Namu, which means tree, which is referring to Unsaw and I yeah,
- 1:20:36yeah. Mouth.
- 1:20:38Yeah, a gape. My flabbers have been gasted.
- 1:20:45I can't believe you said that to her.
- 1:20:46And he asked her the same question.
- 1:20:48His fiance. He asked her the same question
- 1:20:51that he asked unso, which is if you were to be born again, what
- 1:20:55would you want to be? And she says treat.
- 1:20:57And he goes, OK, perfect. You're going to be my
- 1:20:59replacement, Unso. Right.
- 1:21:01He's like, OK, you can be my replacement for.
- 1:21:03Unso you can see the aid of B. Can do in his yeah yeah, he's
- 1:21:07like you'll you'll do like yeah oh.
- 1:21:10My God. So inside episodes 4 through 6,
- 1:21:15the fiance finds the drawings that Junso has done of unso.
- 1:21:20Yeah, which pause right here. Junso cannot draw.
- 1:21:25But Junso's drawings of unso were fugly.
- 1:21:31Oh my God, The fugliest drawings.
- 1:21:35They had another like Tayasak also went to art school and he
- 1:21:39drew Unso at some point and I was like the most beautiful
- 1:21:44drawing I've ever seen. It was.
- 1:21:46So they just cut to it for a second and I was like.
- 1:21:48We're not going to talk about. How beautiful that drawing is
- 1:21:51that he did of her. Meanwhile Jinso doing mediocre
- 1:21:57after mediocre portrait. He's like a whole artist, he's
- 1:22:02like a whole professor. He's a whole professor and I'm
- 1:22:05like, you can't, you can't be serious.
- 1:22:08You can't be serious. But anyway, fiance Yumi finds
- 1:22:12the drawings that he's done of ENSO.
- 1:22:14She's shocked because he consistently said that he won't
- 1:22:19draw her. He does not draw Yumi and he
- 1:22:25breaks up with her. He breaks up with Yumi, and
- 1:22:29here's when I'm like, oh, this is going to get so fucking ugly
- 1:22:34because Yumi tells him outright she won't let him go.
- 1:22:38Yeah, She doesn't want to break up even after.
- 1:22:42So I was like, if you were you, me, and you found out your
- 1:22:46fiance, who gives you some contrived reason for not drawing
- 1:22:53you. Yeah.
- 1:22:55Has drawn his sister in quotation marks.
- 1:22:59Yeah, scare quotes. And he's breaks up with you.
- 1:23:05It's as you've feared he loves his ex sister.
- 1:23:14Why would you stay with a man who doesn't live with you, who's
- 1:23:18not in love with you? Why would you stay with a man
- 1:23:20Yumi didn't is practically crippled with love for his
- 1:23:27sister. Yeah, the reason is that Yumi
- 1:23:30did not respect herself. Yumi had zero self respect.
- 1:23:34She had zero self-confidence, she had zero self esteem.
- 1:23:37She had no shame at all. Like she was, she was like the
- 1:23:42most desperate person I've seen in any K drama.
- 1:23:45Like the desperation and like the lack of self respect.
- 1:23:50And I'm like, girl, you really need to learn to love yourself
- 1:23:54because this is not it. Like it was frightening.
- 1:23:57It was so bad. It was so.
- 1:23:59Bad. It spiraled out of control
- 1:24:02because she commits. She tries to commit suicide.
- 1:24:06Yeah, she's like, I will not live without Jinsa and I will
- 1:24:10die if he's not with me, which puts Jinsa in such a bad
- 1:24:14position because he's like, well, I'm not going to be like
- 1:24:17this, like, you know, like jerk about it.
- 1:24:20Like if she's saying she's going to kill herself, like I'm not
- 1:24:22just going to leave her, but like it puts them in such a hard
- 1:24:26position. It's just like, why would you do
- 1:24:27that to someone? It's so manipulative.
- 1:24:29It's so exclusively manipulative and you hear.
- 1:24:32About this all the time. Like, Oh, my mentally unstable
- 1:24:37ex would say this is how he would get me not to leave him.
- 1:24:41Is like, oh, he would threaten that he would.
- 1:24:43He was going to kill himself and all this stuff.
- 1:24:44And that's literally what she does.
- 1:24:46Yeah, she literally does that. And then her mom is like, oh,
- 1:24:49like she's going to kill herself because of you.
- 1:24:52I'm just like she's. Like blaming June so.
- 1:24:55I'm like, check your daughter. Your daughter is emotionally
- 1:24:58unstable. Yes, your daughter doesn't love
- 1:25:01herself. That's the real problem.
- 1:25:04Let's address that. She probably needs medication,
- 1:25:07yeah. It's like that girl, I mean, I
- 1:25:11was like you. I mean, you were like the Public
- 1:25:13Enemy #1 like, Oh my God, seriously.
- 1:25:15Like, I just, I can't believe her.
- 1:25:18And she was just so, like, pitiful.
- 1:25:21Yeah, just like a very, like, pathetic person.
- 1:25:23So it's hard to like on one hand, I know I I empathize with
- 1:25:28her because I'm like, oh, this girl does not have any sort of
- 1:25:31self esteem. But on the other hand, I'm like,
- 1:25:33you're saying that you love this man, but like you manipulating
- 1:25:36him by saying that you're going to kill yourself.
- 1:25:38Is, is not love, not love. So.
- 1:25:41To try to trap him. Mm hmm mm hmm.
- 1:25:45And she does like she's successful for the most of the
- 1:25:47show. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:25:50What I did like the one thing I'll give her though, is that I
- 1:25:52like that she wasn't like nasty to unsaw like I was like, wow,
- 1:25:57she's like, well, she I she wasn't like hostile or like.
- 1:26:02Oh, like openly hostile to her? Yeah, like openly hostile to
- 1:26:05like unsolved, like, like of course when we're doing what
- 1:26:07she's doing hurts and saw indirectly, but like she wasn't
- 1:26:10like a nasty, you know, like girlfriend, fiance, like that
- 1:26:15she wasn't that nasty jealous, like, you know, ex figure.
- 1:26:18Yeah, which I appreciated. She had her own issues, but
- 1:26:21yeah, hot mess. She even says in episode 7, I
- 1:26:26know you don't love me and you've never loved me.
- 1:26:30That's a. Direct quote Yeah.
- 1:26:32And like, that's the problem. Like you knew that he didn't
- 1:26:35love you, so why are you with this I?
- 1:26:37Know you don't love me and you've never loved me.
- 1:26:41So you know what's going on? Like why are you fucking here?
- 1:26:45Like I was. Like, oh, I was so glad.
- 1:26:47Respect herself. No.
- 1:26:49And then he tells her he likes someone else.
- 1:26:51Mm hmm but stops short of saying it's unso yeah and then she says
- 1:26:58direct quote. I have no intention to leave you
- 1:27:01even if you love someone else, I don't want to let you go.
- 1:27:05You know that red flag man on Tiktok that like.
- 1:27:08Oh, that's. All his content is is like, I'm
- 1:27:11like please stick him on this girl because this is such a red
- 1:27:15flag. Yeah, it's gonna be if I can't
- 1:27:17have you, no one will. Yeah, it's like textbook
- 1:27:20toxicity. I can't, but then I have had
- 1:27:23this quote at the end of episode 7.
- 1:27:25This is, I can't remember who says this.
- 1:27:28It's either Unso or Junso. They say to each other, because
- 1:27:31of you, my life became so beautiful that it is
- 1:27:33incomparable. Let's stay together for the rest
- 1:27:35of our lives as brother and sister.
- 1:27:38Oh my. God.
- 1:27:45They because they flip flop, right?
- 1:27:47Like the angst is in this push and pull of will they, won't
- 1:27:50they? Act on their love, right?
- 1:27:52Right. And like they just keep making
- 1:27:58this decision to stay as brother live as brother and sister,
- 1:28:02quote, quote UN quote. But in episode eight, I think
- 1:28:06there's like the an overnight stay at the cabin.
- 1:28:09Yes, yes. They basically ran off and went
- 1:28:12to like the cabin and no. No, no, this was this was before
- 1:28:15like they ran off. Which cabin?
- 1:28:18What part was this? This was the, I think it was
- 1:28:22like a day trip or something and they were supposed to come back
- 1:28:25in the day and the day, yes. Yes, yes, yes, yes, he said.
- 1:28:28OK. But then it started, yeah, like
- 1:28:29they got a call on the phone and the management was like, yeah,
- 1:28:32the roads are down or something. I remember I.
- 1:28:35Remember. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:28:36So he was like, what are we going to do?
- 1:28:38We have to stay the night. And I was like, oh fucking
- 1:28:40course we have to stay the night.
- 1:28:42Like. I love that trope.
- 1:28:43I, let me just say, love. It that microtrope every time.
- 1:28:47They have to stay the night. It's only one room.
- 1:28:49I love those tropes. So there's this overnight stay
- 1:28:52at the cabin episode 8. We're halfway through the show.
- 1:28:54Yeah. And they had those dual phone
- 1:28:57calls between one Bin is talking to Unso and Yumi is talking to
- 1:29:03Junso. Yeah.
- 1:29:04And the two second leads are together, like in the art
- 1:29:10studio, 'cause they, you know, they somehow meet up there,
- 1:29:13right? Right.
- 1:29:14And they're like, oh, and so is here.
- 1:29:17Oh, and so is here. And they're like, wait a minute.
- 1:29:19And they put two and two together.
- 1:29:21And by the time they get this phone call from each of them
- 1:29:23almost at the same time, yeah, they know that they're lying
- 1:29:28about where they are. Yes, yes.
- 1:29:30And what they're doing, they know that they're together.
- 1:29:33Exactly. And the tension of that is just
- 1:29:40so good. And the ensuing conversation
- 1:29:42between the second leads is fantastic.
- 1:29:44Yeah. Because I think it was Yumi that
- 1:29:49asked Tessa, when did you find out?
- 1:29:54And they don't. I love it because they don't
- 1:29:55exactly say what it is. Right, right.
- 1:29:59They're dancing around like saying what it is they're
- 1:30:02talking about. So they're they're being super
- 1:30:05ambiguous, talking about the elephant in the room.
- 1:30:09And he goes, oh, he just found out because of the previous
- 1:30:13episode ended with like a back hug in the in the night.
- 1:30:16And he pulls up in his car and he sees them hugging and he's
- 1:30:20like, Oh my God. He puts two and two and two
- 1:30:22together and she says she's known for a while.
- 1:30:25Yumi says I've known for a while and it's been so hard and she
- 1:30:30asks him if he believes in fate and Pesach angrily says he
- 1:30:35doesn't, he only believes in himself.
- 1:30:39Yumi says she didn't either, but lately she's thought there might
- 1:30:44be fates that are predetermined. Don't you think we are going
- 1:30:46against fate? Wow.
- 1:30:49And I'm like. Wow.
- 1:30:50God, wow. Wow, wow, wow.
- 1:30:56Oh man. Meanwhile, back at the cabin,
- 1:30:59we're having another big conversation between the couple
- 1:31:02where and so says being siblings forever is better trying.
- 1:31:06They're trying to convince themselves that this is going to
- 1:31:08work, that they can do this and whatever because they're
- 1:31:11violently in love. Yes, definitely.
- 1:31:15And he says, what if he dies first?
- 1:31:18Who'd take care of her? Who would be there for her?
- 1:31:22And she says she will die. First direct quote is I don't
- 1:31:27want to lose you again. I'll be by your side when you
- 1:31:31die, is what he says. I'll hold your hand and I'll
- 1:31:34laugh with you. I won't let you go alone.
- 1:31:36I'll always be with you. Oh, alarm bells should be
- 1:31:42ringing. In.
- 1:31:43All of our minds at this specific line where she says
- 1:31:50she's going to die first and he can't live without her.
- 1:31:54Wild. I was like, I can't do this.
- 1:31:57I was like, Oh no. When she said this you should
- 1:32:00have seen how big my eyes got. Yeah, I was like, Oh no, not
- 1:32:04foreshadowing. Yes.
- 1:32:06Yeah, Oh my goodness. Oh my goodness.
- 1:32:09Yeah oh God. So then Taysock spills the
- 1:32:14sibling love. See secret out loud at like a
- 1:32:17friend's gathering cause the third couple is there.
- 1:32:20Right. Plus the two couples.
- 1:32:24Right. And I don't know, this was a red
- 1:32:28flag moment for me because Tesak goes in order to get unso.
- 1:32:31I could even kill you. He says that to Jinsa.
- 1:32:35And I was like, say what? He had like an angry face for
- 1:32:39sure, like when he was trying to come to terms with what was
- 1:32:42going on. OK.
- 1:32:44But then she apologizes. Unso apologizes to Tesak, saying
- 1:32:49she thought it was going to work.
- 1:32:50She didn't mean to use him. Yeah.
- 1:32:52And this is what Taysock says to her.
- 1:32:55He says then don't hurt me. I don't care if you loved you.
- 1:32:57And so just like this moment, even if you break my heart so
- 1:33:01much, I don't care. I don't care about anything.
- 1:33:03All I need is you. You are all I need Who?
- 1:33:08So like they're both both second leads are just varying levels of
- 1:33:12the Lulu? Yeah, definitely.
- 1:33:14They're both and they both lack lack self respect.
- 1:33:18Like it's just like, I don't care if you love someone else.
- 1:33:20I just want you to be with me. Like I don't care.
- 1:33:21Like yeah. Just like no, that's not what
- 1:33:23you should want for yourself. Yeah.
- 1:33:26She want better for yourself. Tessa is so delulu he goes to
- 1:33:31her bio mom to ask for permission to marry her.
- 1:33:34Yes, and he's been proposed like a million times.
- 1:33:37Yeah, he's proposed in the post several times, and she never
- 1:33:41says yes. She's kind of like, either she
- 1:33:43says nothing or she's just like, like diffuses.
- 1:33:47Yes. What's the time?
- 1:33:48She's just like, she doesn't say anything.
- 1:33:50And she's just like. I guess it's like.
- 1:33:52Awkward. Awkward.
- 1:33:54So he goes. After this.
- 1:33:55He realizes that she's in love, they're in love, and he decides
- 1:33:59now's a great time for me to reveal myself to her bio mom and
- 1:34:02ask for permission to marry her. So he does.
- 1:34:05And one of the first things that her bio mom asks.
- 1:34:08And I thought this was so telling.
- 1:34:10She asked him, Have you talked with Unso already?
- 1:34:13Yeah. And I was like, that's great.
- 1:34:17Because instead of I I feel like the immediate thing would be.
- 1:34:22Yeah, like, that's great. You live in squalor.
- 1:34:26Her brother's a gangster. He's constantly gambling.
- 1:34:29Yeah. He steals money.
- 1:34:31He beats her. We live a bad life.
- 1:34:33Yeah, you're a rich man. You seem like a good person.
- 1:34:39I've never seen you before, but you seem like a good guy.
- 1:34:42You're asking for permission to marry my daughter.
- 1:34:45Yeah. The automatic response would be,
- 1:34:50yeah, you have my permission. But instead she asks, have you
- 1:34:55talked with UNSA? What's her?
- 1:34:57What does she want? What does she say?
- 1:34:59Yeah, Yeah. I thought that was so great, you
- 1:35:04know, giving agency back to ENSO where she hasn't had so much
- 1:35:09agency in her life. Nope.
- 1:35:11Her brother's trying to sell her off to some skis ball earlier in
- 1:35:15the show, and she has to work for the family.
- 1:35:18Her paycheck doesn't go to her. And, you know, she's just so
- 1:35:23pitiful. And one thing that I found that
- 1:35:26was really sad about the show, more so than the actual like
- 1:35:29situation that they're in, was that Unso was so vibrant when
- 1:35:35she was younger and so happy. Yeah.
- 1:35:38And the switch, them switching back robbed her of her joy.
- 1:35:44Exactly. She just been through so much.
- 1:35:47So to just see, like, everything she goes through from like the
- 1:35:50beginning of the show to the end, you're like, wow, like
- 1:35:52this. It's just terrible to see, like
- 1:35:54everything that she had to go through.
- 1:35:56Yeah. You just feel terrible for her.
- 1:35:58You feel like she she lost a part of herself.
- 1:36:04And one thing that she says to June, So when they meet up
- 1:36:07again, when they reunite, is I try not to think.
- 1:36:11I've, like, blocked all that time period when I was younger.
- 1:36:15And I try not to think about it because I was so happy then and
- 1:36:19I'm so unhappy. Yeah.
- 1:36:21Now it was just, it would just wreck me if I continued to think
- 1:36:26of that time. Yeah.
- 1:36:30So. It's so sad.
- 1:36:32Oh my God, it's so sad. At the end of episode 8, the
- 1:36:36fucking sister reveals to the parents that they love each
- 1:36:40other because there was this whole thing.
- 1:36:42There were Two was going to get adopted.
- 1:36:43They were going to officially adopt her.
- 1:36:46That scene had me. I like literally they her
- 1:36:50parents were so excited. They were like, and so we have
- 1:36:54such amazing news. We're going to adopt you.
- 1:36:58And literally everyone just freezes.
- 1:37:00Everything goes looking at each other.
- 1:37:02And the parents are like. And then she needs was like, no,
- 1:37:06no, like they're in. She stands.
- 1:37:08Like, yeah, she literally stands up, starts screaming.
- 1:37:10They're in love, in love. And then the parents are like,
- 1:37:14excuse me, Like they're like horrified.
- 1:37:16Like they are shocked and like June.
- 1:37:19So I was like, it's true. I do love her.
- 1:37:21And so I was like and like, no, like I'm the one that loves him
- 1:37:24and he's like, no, I'm the one that loves her.
- 1:37:25Like we're in love. I and that's how the episode
- 1:37:28ended. And I literally sat up straight
- 1:37:31like it was just like the what a way to end an episode.
- 1:37:37Imagine watching that episode and having to wait a week to
- 1:37:40watch the next one. That's wild.
- 1:37:42Murder. Murder in the streets.
- 1:37:44Oh my God. Oh my gosh.
- 1:37:46So the next episode I have a quote here from and so and I
- 1:37:51think June, she's talking to June.
- 1:37:53So she says if I were to take root in one place, I would be
- 1:37:56heartbroken if things were to go wrong, I wouldn't be able to
- 1:38:00move or be moved. He says if it hurts, are you
- 1:38:05going to move? And she says no, I won't.
- 1:38:08Even if it hurts, I'll always be by your side loving you.
- 1:38:11Even if you won't look back at me, I'll live my life looking at
- 1:38:14you. Wow.
- 1:38:16And he says I'll do that, too. I will.
- 1:38:18I'll always look at you. Oh, my gosh.
- 1:38:20And this is during that time they absconded.
- 1:38:23Like they just. Yeah.
- 1:38:24So this time like this is when they ran away.
- 1:38:25Yeah, this is when, like, like the family is up in arms and
- 1:38:28they like, literally like hightail it out of there and
- 1:38:30they like, run away to the cabin and it was really beautiful.
- 1:38:35Like in this episode we really get to see all of that beautiful
- 1:38:37like autumn scenery 'cause they're like taking walks and
- 1:38:41like, it's just like, really, really beautiful.
- 1:38:44But in this episode, her nose starts bleeding.
- 1:38:48And I was like, oh, oh, no. I was like, I know what the I
- 1:38:53know. For God, I know what this.
- 1:38:55Is I was like, Oh no. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:39:00Girl, this isn't happening. This isn't happening.
- 1:39:02No, no, no, no. I was like, I know exactly where
- 1:39:04we're going now. This is terrible.
- 1:39:05Oh no, you can see the drop coming.
- 1:39:09Yeah. Yeah, it's.
- 1:39:12Oh, so she called what I liked about the not liked.
- 1:39:16But what was interesting about this episode is that she calls
- 1:39:18her mom on her birthday. Yeah, they're still in this
- 1:39:21cabin in the woods. Yes.
- 1:39:23She gives away her position to her gangster older brother
- 1:39:28because he overhears the mom on the phone talking to her, the
- 1:39:31bio mom, I should say. And the mom says, how can you be
- 1:39:37happy when you're breaking your parents hearts?
- 1:39:39You'll get punished. It'll all get back to you.
- 1:39:44And this is the second time that concept of punishment for their
- 1:39:48this love comes up. And I don't know if it's cosmic
- 1:39:54punishment for being unfilial, for breaking taboos because they
- 1:40:00grew up as brother and sister, for eloping, for breaking other
- 1:40:05people's hearts, because they were both presumably in
- 1:40:08relationships at this time. Yeah.
- 1:40:12I don't know exactly what it is or if it's everything.
- 1:40:15I think it's everything. I think it's literally all of
- 1:40:18the above, like the taboo nature of it, the fact there's other
- 1:40:21people involved, the fact that parents on both sides are
- 1:40:24heartbroken because it's like this is dramatic.
- 1:40:27Like what are we supposed to do now?
- 1:40:28Like you grew up as with us as your, as our daughter and now
- 1:40:31you, you're like, they're like, what, what is this?
- 1:40:34So I think it's like a combination of all of those
- 1:40:36things. She has the Nosebleed like you
- 1:40:39said. He comes to her like running
- 1:40:44because he sees her like upturned head.
- 1:40:48Yeah. Dealing with the Nosebleed later
- 1:40:51on, she says, were you scared? He says yes, she goes, I should
- 1:40:56be sick all the time. Then I would like you to rush
- 1:40:58toward me with concern. Oh my gosh.
- 1:41:01I have in my notes Shut up bitch in all caps Oh.
- 1:41:04My gosh, just like not you speaking illness over yourself.
- 1:41:10I don't do that. Oh my God, you.
- 1:41:13Know, you just know, as an audience, if you have two brain
- 1:41:19cells to rub together, you just know, yeah, this is going
- 1:41:23downhill. Yeah, Fast.
- 1:41:25Yeah, 'cause if you see a Nosebleed in any show, that
- 1:41:29person has leukemia. That's literally the universal
- 1:41:32sign of leukemia. Any show I've watched, it's like
- 1:41:36all in that wedding she has leukemia.
- 1:41:38But you know that her father died before she was born.
- 1:41:41Yes. They just don't say what he died
- 1:41:44of exactly. Yes.
- 1:41:46And later on when she gets diagnosed with leukemia, they're
- 1:41:52like, oh, is anyone in your has anyone in your family died of
- 1:41:55leukemia or been diagnosed with leukemia?
- 1:41:57And she said, my father died of leukemia before I was born.
- 1:42:03And as an audience, you're going, oh, shit.
- 1:42:06That's what it was. I was like, oh, no.
- 1:42:08Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 1:42:15But they, it's, I mean, there's so much more drama before we
- 1:42:18even get to that because they announced they're going to get
- 1:42:20married. Yes.
- 1:42:23Everyone and their mom is against it.
- 1:42:26Yeah. Everyone is pissed.
- 1:42:29The fiance, Yumi, you think she's OK because she goes over
- 1:42:35to pick up her stuff. If you remember in episode 10,
- 1:42:37yes. And she even says we're not
- 1:42:39meant to be together and she uses the word inion here when
- 1:42:46she says we're not meant to be together.
- 1:42:47I remember that translation being we're not meant to be
- 1:42:51together, but she used the word inion, which I was like, oh,
- 1:42:55that's great. And I go, she finally gets it.
- 1:42:59I had no idea that in this same episode she was going to attempt
- 1:43:05suicide. Yup, Yup, Yup.
- 1:43:07And I was like you. Me.
- 1:43:12I mean even Tessak is acting crazy in this episode.
- 1:43:15Yeah, everyone's losing it because it's a, it's a
- 1:43:17bombshell. It's a bombshell.
- 1:43:19So everyone's like coping with it in whatever way they choose
- 1:43:24to. Tessak was crazy though, because
- 1:43:26he comes. And the bio mom as well, she
- 1:43:30says, how can you hurt him? And she's like, yeah, pushing
- 1:43:35Unso and stuff, like, you know how they do.
- 1:43:37Yeah. Unso's mom says this when Teso
- 1:43:41comes crying and wailing, banging on the front door slider
- 1:43:45in the middle of the night with a bouquet of flowers, begging to
- 1:43:48see Unso. He was losing his mind.
- 1:43:51Losing his mind. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:43:54Waking up the whole neighborhood, it's just like
- 1:43:56ugly. And yeah, I mean, they're having
- 1:44:02doubts. Like Unsel's having doubts.
- 1:44:04Yeah, she says. I was so happy to meet you.
- 1:44:06I've never thought of being happy without you.
- 1:44:08Actually, that's what he says. He says it to her to reassure
- 1:44:13her after she's crying. She says she shouldn't.
- 1:44:16They shouldn't have done it. Everything is a mess.
- 1:44:18The mom is sick. The the stress.
- 1:44:22OG mom is sick. Yeah.
- 1:44:24Maybe everything would be better had they never met.
- 1:44:27Yeah. And then Yumi commits tries to
- 1:44:29commit suicide. Yeah, it's a lot going on.
- 1:44:32There's so much going on and the quote from Yumi when she's this
- 1:44:36is her second suicide attempt because she escapes from the
- 1:44:39hospital. Yeah.
- 1:44:41And goes to the. Beach and she tries to drown.
- 1:44:43Herself. It tries to drown herself.
- 1:44:46I just want to like, strangle her.
- 1:44:47I'll like I'll do it for you if you let me.
- 1:44:49So she says I'm so mad at her so she says don't leave me, don't
- 1:44:55leave me I'll kill myself. Promise me you won't leave me
- 1:44:58and I have my notes. This psycho bitch in all caps.
- 1:45:02Yeah, so manipulative. So manipulative.
- 1:45:06Couldn't stand her. I couldn't stand her.
- 1:45:09And what was more concerning was that he actually decides to stay
- 1:45:14with her. Exactly.
- 1:45:16And I was like, no, no, we're going backwards again.
- 1:45:22I know because it took so much for them to admit their
- 1:45:27feelings. Yes, yes to each other.
- 1:45:30And then so much for them to admit their feelings in front of
- 1:45:34the elders, in front of their parents and for a hint to double
- 1:45:38down and say I love her and we're getting married.
- 1:45:43Yeah, Yeah. And for him to propose to her.
- 1:45:45It was this whole thing and fucking you, me, bro, I hate
- 1:45:52you. He's.
- 1:45:53Terrible. So he decides to stay with her
- 1:45:55so that she won't kill herself. She's holding him.
- 1:45:58Hostage, literally holding him hostage and literally holding
- 1:46:01him hostage. It's so wrong.
- 1:46:02It's so wrong. And the last thing that I think
- 1:46:06unso says to Jinzo was that I absolve you of your sins thing.
- 1:46:12Mm Hmm. Oh yes.
- 1:46:15Which is a call back to earlier in the show.
- 1:46:17I I was like, oh. My God.
- 1:46:19Yeah. And it's like a common thread,
- 1:46:21like throughout. It's like a thing between them.
- 1:46:23And they do it like a few more times.
- 1:46:25But this concept of sin and mm, Hmm.
- 1:46:27That they're sinning by being together.
- 1:46:30Right. Oh man, I.
- 1:46:35Can't Episode 11, she faints. I know it's too much.
- 1:46:40She faints in episode 11. What I thought was funny was
- 1:46:43Tessa, like before she faints, she goes to his villa and Tessa
- 1:46:48is having this little tirade about he won't die until he sees
- 1:46:52how happy they promise they're going to be.
- 1:46:54And he's aggressive, he's drunk, and he scoffs that Yumi didn't
- 1:46:58even succeed in committing suicide.
- 1:46:59And I was like, oh, that's dirty.
- 1:47:04It really is like, that's low. That's really low.
- 1:47:08Here's when I think he starts to redeem himself is because he
- 1:47:12knows that she loves June so June so loves her.
- 1:47:15And he doesn't know that they've broken up yet.
- 1:47:19And she collapses on his watch. Yeah.
- 1:47:23And he immediately, like, picks her up.
- 1:47:25He they've got he's got her in his arms and he takes her to the
- 1:47:27car to take her to the hospital. And he immediately calls June so
- 1:47:33and he tells her. He tells him she's fainted.
- 1:47:36Yeah. I'm going to take her to the
- 1:47:37hospital. And he realizes that you, me or
- 1:47:42somebody is there with him. There's a woman in the
- 1:47:44background. Yeah.
- 1:47:47And he incredulous. Are you with someone?
- 1:47:51And he doesn't even let June so finish his haltering explanation
- 1:47:56about you, me being hurt real bad, blah, blah, blah.
- 1:48:01Click. He like hangs up the phone.
- 1:48:03Oh my gosh. I was like, points given because
- 1:48:06there's really no excuse. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:48:09Like once I tell you that your girl is down for the count,
- 1:48:12right you? Should like act yeah, yeah,
- 1:48:16yeah. So I was like, oh, points given
- 1:48:20for taysock. Yeah.
- 1:48:22At that moment, later on in this episode, Yumi books the hotel
- 1:48:28that and so works at or June So's art exhibition.
- 1:48:33Yeah, like a witch. And she doesn't.
- 1:48:35Detest him. She's so terrible.
- 1:48:37Like I just, I just don't understand like how you can be
- 1:48:43this desperate. Like if you have to do all of
- 1:48:45this stuff, then like, he's not the one for you.
- 1:48:48Let it go. Yep, she says.
- 1:48:52He's like an empty shell around her, and she gets angry that she
- 1:48:57doesn't have, like he's not all there.
- 1:48:59Yeah, yeah. But I don't understand because
- 1:49:02this is what she wanted that she got exact she she knows he
- 1:49:06doesn't love her and that she trapped him.
- 1:49:08Why is she expecting more? Exactly.
- 1:49:11Well, that's the thing. It's just like you, I I don't,
- 1:49:14yeah. I don't know what she was
- 1:49:15expecting already knowing from jump that he never loved her so
- 1:49:19like, but then at the same time, she wants to feel that love from
- 1:49:22him. So it's like, I feel like she's
- 1:49:24dissatisfied, but it's just like you're the one that settled for
- 1:49:27a man that doesn't love you. So what do you what do you
- 1:49:30expect? What do you expect?
- 1:49:32So then she rips up his photos of Inso that she found while
- 1:49:35cleaning. That's why I was like, it's not
- 1:49:38like she's not hostile to Inso. Yeah, yeah, she was.
- 1:49:41It was like she, but never to her face.
- 1:49:43I was, I'll say that. Never to her face, but like
- 1:49:46passive aggressive for sure. I just this is when I was
- 1:49:50starting to be like she can exit the show.
- 1:49:53She can leave. Because, like I, there's no
- 1:49:56reason for you to be here. Still you need to go this
- 1:49:59relationship is over leave like get out.
- 1:50:03I just could not deal with her. Leukemia diagnosis in episode
- 1:50:0712. Yeah, we get this quote from.
- 1:50:10And so they say that if it's true love, you don't need any
- 1:50:13reasons. Here's when I was like, Oh, my
- 1:50:19second male lead syndrome is like skyrocketing because she
- 1:50:22has this moment with the second male lead with TESOL where he
- 1:50:27finds out about our cancer and they're walking along the beach.
- 1:50:30Yes, yes. This moment I was like, my heart
- 1:50:33was like, oh, yes, I couldn't handle it.
- 1:50:37My ovaries. He begs her for one more chance.
- 1:50:40Yeah, Yeah. And she says playfully to him,
- 1:50:44like, give me 3 reasons why you love me and then I'll give you a
- 1:50:47shot. I'll give you a chance.
- 1:50:48Yeah. But he can't find a reason.
- 1:50:54He's like I, I don't have any reasons.
- 1:50:57Oh, but it's a call back to that line.
- 1:51:00Yeah, but if it's true love, you don't need any reasons.
- 1:51:02Reasons yes and I also really loved that scene too because he
- 1:51:07he that this is when he also was like I he said I won't ask you
- 1:51:12to love me. Let me help you beat cancer.
- 1:51:15I will fix your disease when you get well, I will leave you.
- 1:51:18I won't stick around stubbornly. I'll leave you.
- 1:51:20So please let me get it cured. And I was like, I can't.
- 1:51:25Oh my gosh. Like he, he genuinely was like
- 1:51:28he got to the point that he was like, I if you, if we can't be
- 1:51:32together, if you won't let me love you, like at least let me
- 1:51:36pay for all of your treatment. Like no strings attached.
- 1:51:40And I was just like, wow, yeah, that is love.
- 1:51:45That's love. When you hear these horror
- 1:51:48stories of husbands leaving their wives when they get sick,
- 1:51:51when they get cancer and stuff, the statistics are not good on
- 1:51:55that. Yeah, really, really bad on
- 1:51:57that. You don't want to look it up.
- 1:51:59But when he said that, I was like, keep him.
- 1:52:02Just keep him. I.
- 1:52:05Just I mean that is true love right there.
- 1:52:08Like, and it's not every time that you see a second male lead
- 1:52:10that's like genuinely in love. Like this isn't just like this
- 1:52:15isn't just I have a crush. Like no, like in love, like I
- 1:52:18want to see you live. I will pay for your treatment.
- 1:52:20You don't even need to be together.
- 1:52:22I just want you to be well, like, come on, Like, oh man.
- 1:52:28Beautiful. More you me nonsense in this
- 1:52:29episode though, because she goes to Seoul to patch things up with
- 1:52:33her mom and to get her hand checked out.
- 1:52:36Yeah, Oh my gosh, this is so annoying the.
- 1:52:40Doctor says she's going to make a full recovery, that she'll be
- 1:52:43able to paint again. And just when she's going to
- 1:52:45call June. So she does it.
- 1:52:48Yeah. She comes back and lies outright
- 1:52:51that she will never be able to paint again, that she has
- 1:52:54permanently damaged her hand. And this is from her own suicide
- 1:52:58attempt. She did this.
- 1:52:58To herself. She did this to herself all to
- 1:53:01make June so feel like he can't leave her because Oh my gosh,
- 1:53:03I'm permanently injured because you try to leave me and like,
- 1:53:07I'll never be able to draw again.
- 1:53:10I don't know why. Like what's wrong with you like?
- 1:53:14Then at this, at the same time, like, Yumi sees Unso at the bus
- 1:53:17stop wearing Junso's black jacket.
- 1:53:19Yeah. And when she's inside, she goes
- 1:53:23searching for his black jacket and questions him.
- 1:53:26Where's your black jacket? It's getting colder outside,
- 1:53:29blah, blah, blah. He doesn't even lie.
- 1:53:31He says he gave it to Unso. Yeah, she starts scoffing at
- 1:53:36him. She's like and says why couldn't
- 1:53:39he he even lie about it? He should have lied and she
- 1:53:42would have lied if she were him. She'd be fucking pissed if she
- 1:53:49caught him in a lie. But now she's pissed because he
- 1:53:52told the truth. And that's the thing I really
- 1:53:54enjoyed about Jinsal's character.
- 1:53:56He was so honest. He didn't.
- 1:53:59He never lied to Yumi about where he was.
- 1:54:02Like he he just did it like a woman That's yeah, yeah, being
- 1:54:05engaged in when you don't love is that's not good.
- 1:54:08But even after like everything started coming out, he was just
- 1:54:11like he tried to break up with her multiple times, like
- 1:54:14multiple times like, and she just would not take no for an
- 1:54:17answer. So like, whatever happens now,
- 1:54:19it's on you because I. Don't know.
- 1:54:21She saw the terms and conditions.
- 1:54:23Yeah, like I've told you everything I need to tell you.
- 1:54:26Like I've, I broke it up with you and you keep coming back
- 1:54:29like there's nothing I'm more I can do for you.
- 1:54:31Yeah. And like, he, he got to the
- 1:54:32point that he was like, I'm not going to placate to you in your
- 1:54:35manipulation anymore. Unsal has the jacket now.
- 1:54:39What it's like, and you can see it running through his mind like
- 1:54:42he's sitting there like. And then he's finally like,
- 1:54:45Unsal was here. She stopped by.
- 1:54:47She has a jacket. Yeah.
- 1:54:50What are you going to do? What are you going to do?
- 1:54:53The love of my life has a jacket.
- 1:54:54What are you going to fucking do?
- 1:54:57I don't know what to tell you. Exactly.
- 1:54:59Exactly. So episode 14 happens yes, the
- 1:55:04family is finally told that she has cancer.
- 1:55:08Yes everyone and this is I was a mess.
- 1:55:12I I think I ran out of tissues at this point because the bio
- 1:55:18mom goes to beg the OG mom, the OG family to save her daughter.
- 1:55:24She takes her life savings, which is very little like
- 1:55:26nothing yes and she goes and she's like take this money.
- 1:55:30I know it's very little but it's all I have please save her.
- 1:55:34And they're like. Confused.
- 1:55:36They have no idea what she's talking.
- 1:55:37What are you talking about? Which made it even more painful.
- 1:55:40Because they didn't know and she has.
- 1:55:41She breaks it to them that she also is dying of cancer, the
- 1:55:44same disease that killed her father.
- 1:55:47Heartbreaking. Devastating.
- 1:55:50So devastating. Heart wrenching.
- 1:55:52And like, did you make it through?
- 1:55:53Did you make it through? I, I was not OK.
- 1:55:56Like that whole episode, I was like, this is going down.
- 1:56:00It's going down. And I just, I couldn't handle
- 1:56:03it. Especially like you just think
- 1:56:05about like when Saw's trajectory, especially like
- 1:56:08there are scenes like with the dad that like they, they have
- 1:56:12these scenes that he would just be sitting by himself and just
- 1:56:14be like, wow. Yeah.
- 1:56:15And Saw has been through so much like and now for this to happen
- 1:56:20to her, you know, it's just it's to it.
- 1:56:24It was just devastating. And like I remember in this
- 1:56:28episode, she was like not doing well.
- 1:56:31Like she's starting to, you know, look pale.
- 1:56:33They. Have the crusty the.
- 1:56:34Crusty lipstick and stuff on her and.
- 1:56:37Progressively throughout the show, she would look more and
- 1:56:39more, more and more ghostly. Yeah, And it was really sad.
- 1:56:43And she decided like she she like, you know, she gets on the
- 1:56:46bus. I think she just wants to
- 1:56:47escape. And she was, I think she was.
- 1:56:48I think she's probably going to go to the cabin and she sees
- 1:56:51Jinsal's car like drive by the road and she literally gets off
- 1:56:55the bus and she's just standing in the road and she's really
- 1:56:58weak. And Jinsal comes reversing back
- 1:57:03and like when. He reversed down the road the
- 1:57:07gasp that I guess. Girl, girl, reverse, reverse
- 1:57:11backwards for like 200 feet. Yeah, like, you know, and she
- 1:57:16sees him and then she's like, why can I not get away from you?
- 1:57:20Because they have this magnetic pull towards you.
- 1:57:22So there's no reason why he should have known that she was
- 1:57:25there. And like, the fact that
- 1:57:27something was just telling him, let me go back.
- 1:57:29Like I it just goes. It was such a beautiful picture
- 1:57:32of like their relationship and like this whole.
- 1:57:35So they went. They're together now and they're
- 1:57:38like frolicking in the autumn field and they're sitting down
- 1:57:41in the grass. This.
- 1:57:42Is because she left the hospital for a day.
- 1:57:44Yeah, she left the hospital for a day.
- 1:57:45Yes. And they're sitting in the grass
- 1:57:47and he said, I miss you even when I'm looking at you.
- 1:57:51No. And and mind you, he didn't even
- 1:57:55he doesn't know that she has cancer yet.
- 1:57:57And like they're just like sitting in there cuddling.
- 1:57:59And he says, can we stay like this just for a day?
- 1:58:02Not just for a day. But I wish I could still like
- 1:58:03this forever. I wish I could die like this.
- 1:58:05And she said, we'll love each other forever only in our
- 1:58:08hearts. Even if we run away, we can't be
- 1:58:10together. So I will only have your heart.
- 1:58:12You already took mine. And then he says, you already
- 1:58:14have mine too. And then they kissed.
- 1:58:18Make kiss in the pampas grass field and I.
- 1:58:22I was done. Like I didn't expect it.
- 1:58:24I wasn't expecting a kiss. Me neither.
- 1:58:27And the IT was just like bubbling, bubbling, bubbling
- 1:58:29like because they're literally pouring their hearts out to each
- 1:58:31other and it was just like beautiful and like, and then he
- 1:58:35was going to say like in that after they kissed like he loved
- 1:58:38her, but then she was like, she felt it and she was just like,
- 1:58:40wait, She was like wait, and she was like, I want you to wait to
- 1:58:42tell me. And she was like, I promise to
- 1:58:44wait for you to tell me. Mind you, she knows that she's
- 1:58:46dying. So like it has a double meaning.
- 1:58:49Yeah. And he and he has no idea.
- 1:58:51Like what? That he has no idea she's dying.
- 1:58:53But the I always miss you even when I'm looking at you girl.
- 1:58:58I almost went to cardiac arrest right there.
- 1:59:01Oh, revive me. Revive me.
- 1:59:03Revive me. Oh my.
- 1:59:06God. Oh my gosh.
- 1:59:12But then, like at the end of that episode, she has like a
- 1:59:16medical event. She gets back to the hospital
- 1:59:18and she like ends up in that coma.
- 1:59:21And that's when he finds out everyone in the family knows
- 1:59:24except. Which I thought was just was.
- 1:59:27So I was like, no. Like they kept it from it.
- 1:59:30Yeah. In the grand scheme of things,
- 1:59:31it's only an episode. Yeah.
- 1:59:32And he doesn't know. Yeah, but it's like.
- 1:59:34Literally everyone in the show, like, at this point, no, except
- 1:59:38him. So he's like running to the
- 1:59:40hospital. She's like in a coma and he's
- 1:59:42like running. And he's like, I need to see
- 1:59:44her. There's something I need to tell
- 1:59:45her. And then he said, he yelled.
- 1:59:47He yelled I love you. And I was like, Oh my God.
- 1:59:50That's how the episode ends with him.
- 1:59:51Screaming I love. You.
- 1:59:53Oh my God. My dream, that's episode 14.
- 1:59:56Imagine again waiting a whole week to watch episode 15 after
- 2:00:01that. Oh my God.
- 2:00:03I'm like rocking back and forth. Look, this episode is brutal.
- 2:00:09Brutal. Just no reprieve, No.
- 2:00:15From here on out, where you don't get a break, no.
- 2:00:18Well, you don't get a no. Oh shit, so an episode.
- 2:00:23Oh God, him coming to the to the hospital and him screaming.
- 2:00:27I have no, but I have something to tell her.
- 2:00:30Oh God. Unreal.
- 2:00:35Unreal. Like I was not OK.
- 2:00:39All right, we're at the end of the show.
- 2:00:41Episode 15 comes up. She is still in a coma.
- 2:00:45The second male lead. This was very surprising to me,
- 2:00:48this really touching thing that he would do.
- 2:00:50He said he'd walk into her room with his eyes closed.
- 2:00:54Yeah. Hoping that she's gone and that
- 2:00:58she's run away with June. So and he says, like he says
- 2:01:01this to her, that even if it'll break his heart again, he thinks
- 2:01:03he can handle it now because it's what she wants.
- 2:01:06It'll it it means that she's alive.
- 2:01:08Yeah. That she's happy.
- 2:01:11That's love. That right there.
- 2:01:13I just got the show cut the show.
- 2:01:18No, that's like. And that's again, like that is
- 2:01:21Taystalk was in love with Unsaw. This wasn't a situation.
- 2:01:24This wasn't a crush. Like he was in love.
- 2:01:27Yeah. Yeah.
- 2:01:29Oh, I know. We're just like emotional.
- 2:01:35So then June so like June so has like a a psychotic break.
- 2:01:40He's basically non verbal. Yeah.
- 2:01:43And he vows to keep the US plan that he's just going to go to
- 2:01:49the US with Yumi and never paint again.
- 2:01:53Yeah. He burns all the paintings that
- 2:01:56he has with Unso, Unso as the faceless, faceless subject in
- 2:02:00all of them. Yeah.
- 2:02:01And when Tessa finds him towards the end of the episode, he's
- 2:02:07basically in the fetal position up against a tree.
- 2:02:09Yeah. Yeah.
- 2:02:11Because obviously, like, it's a call back to her saying she
- 2:02:14wants to be a tree in her next life.
- 2:02:16Yeah. His reasoning for not going to
- 2:02:18see her in the hospital and not be with her as she's in the
- 2:02:21coma. Is he scared that if she knows
- 2:02:25he's there, she will be so relieved?
- 2:02:29Yeah. That she'll just die.
- 2:02:32So relieved that she's he's finally there, that she'll be at
- 2:02:35peace and die versus the expectation and the anticipation
- 2:02:40that he could come. That she.
- 2:02:42She's waiting for him. Right.
- 2:02:44We'll keep her going. We'll keep her alive.
- 2:02:46Right. Right.
- 2:02:48Wow. That is.
- 2:02:49Yeah. That's heavy.
- 2:02:51Heavy. It's really, really heavy.
- 2:02:53But Tesak drags him there. He's talking to her as she's
- 2:02:58unconscious in the coma. It's emotional.
- 2:03:03The next morning you hear OPA OPA coming from her.
- 2:03:09You don't know if he's dreaming it yet, but he wakes up.
- 2:03:12She's awakened. Yes, Oh my.
- 2:03:15God, she's out of the coma. Oh my gosh.
- 2:03:19And that's how the episode. Is Yeah, yeah.
- 2:03:23And like they immediately leave and they like, go like to the
- 2:03:29beach like. And that's what the Tessa, the
- 2:03:33second male lead, had wanted. That's exactly Daydream.
- 2:03:36Yeah. So when he comes in with his
- 2:03:39eyes closed again, yes. And he opens his eyes and he's.
- 2:03:42And she's gone. It's like you could see that he
- 2:03:46was. Happy the relief, the relief.
- 2:03:48Yeah, and man, but again, Oh my gosh, it's so beautiful.
- 2:03:52Oh my gosh, I yeah, it's just. I just don't like the sun.
- 2:03:58I. Don't know how to do this.
- 2:04:00Oh goodness, Yeah, it's a lot. It's a lot.
- 2:04:03So heading into the final episode, yeah, they basically
- 2:04:07stop treatments for her because she's too weak.
- 2:04:11Yeah, to take any sort of bone marrow transplant.
- 2:04:15Mm Hmm. And they're like, it's better to
- 2:04:18just do some outpatient treatment.
- 2:04:21And Jenso takes her, and she lives with him until you know
- 2:04:27the very end. Yeah, and like before that, like
- 2:04:32they there was some there was a scene when this is after Unsa
- 2:04:36and Jinsa left the hospital, but on they haven't seen when Tesa.
- 2:04:40Tesa was at a church and he was praying for Unsa to live so her
- 2:04:46and Jinsa can be together. Yeah.
- 2:04:48And I was like, what is happening here?
- 2:04:52Like I just my heart. Yeah, I couldn't handle it.
- 2:04:55And like they just had so many tender moments in this last
- 2:04:58episode. Like he was, she was living with
- 2:05:01him. He had like plans to take his
- 2:05:04own life. After.
- 2:05:05Oh, yeah, he saw passed away. I think he had some sort of
- 2:05:08pills he was going to take. And until I find it found them
- 2:05:11and she like got rid of them. And she's like, you're not going
- 2:05:13to do this. And he was like, I don't want to
- 2:05:15live without you. Like yeah, I like.
- 2:05:17And she's like, you're not going to do that.
- 2:05:19You're not. You will not do that.
- 2:05:21You have to promise me that you'll live, yes.
- 2:05:23Yes, promise me that you'll live.
- 2:05:24And like shortly after they had like a private like wedding like
- 2:05:29just for the two of them. I can't when she opens like the
- 2:05:35curtains or whatever and looks out the window and he's there.
- 2:05:39Oh my gosh. Girl, so beautifully.
- 2:05:42I'm trying not to cry. I can't.
- 2:05:44I can't. With the show I can't.
- 2:05:46I'm trying not to cry. So yeah, they have a private
- 2:05:49little ceremony just between them and they go to the the
- 2:05:55final beach scene. Yeah, of her at the beach with
- 2:06:00him and he's drawing her like they were like when they were
- 2:06:04kids and he is drawing her face in the sand.
- 2:06:09Thank God they didn't show what it looked like because I knew it
- 2:06:11would have been ugly, but it's the thought that counts the the
- 2:06:18final piggyback ride. Oh gosh.
- 2:06:21I was not OK. I Yeah.
- 2:06:24Jinsa had Jinsa on his back and they're walking.
- 2:06:28And they had this thing, like, all throughout the time she, she
- 2:06:31was staying with him. Like, you know, she would just,
- 2:06:33like, rest on him and he would just talk about his day and,
- 2:06:36like, what he needs to do. And she's like, I just want to
- 2:06:38hear you talk. I just want to hear you how?
- 2:06:40Tell me about your day. Yeah.
- 2:06:41So, you know, it was the same thing when he was giving her the
- 2:06:44piggyback ride. And he was like, oh, I think I'm
- 2:06:46going to go here. Yeah, what are we doing?
- 2:06:48See. This person, yeah, like, this is
- 2:06:49what we can do tomorrow. And he's just like talking and
- 2:06:51talking. And then her hand goes like
- 2:06:54limp, limp. And like when in that moment,
- 2:06:58like there was music playing, it goes silent.
- 2:07:01Cut. It goes completely silent.
- 2:07:03And like literally the, you know, the life just gets sucked
- 2:07:07out of the scene. And you can feel it.
- 2:07:09You can hear it. And his face, like when he
- 2:07:13realized that she was gone and he just kept talking.
- 2:07:17He just kept he kept talking and he's holding back tears and he
- 2:07:22just keeps talking. And like, you see that he just
- 2:07:25kept walking on that beach until it got dark.
- 2:07:27Yes. Oh, my goodness.
- 2:07:34Oh my. You know Mr. Sunshine did this
- 2:07:36too. You're so right.
- 2:07:38You're so right. Yeah, I was like, well, this is
- 2:07:42where Mr. Sunshine and any other drama that did this gets it
- 2:07:46from. Absolutely.
- 2:07:48Autumn in my heart did it first. Yes, the.
- 2:07:50Blueprint, he doesn't finish the funeral.
- 2:07:57He asked TESOL to finish out the funeral rites, Yes.
- 2:08:01And he sort of goes on this little memory lane trip, goes
- 2:08:04back to where it all started. And right where she gets this is
- 2:08:09where like their fate changes. Where they get switched back is
- 2:08:13because she got run over and the her blood type they figure out
- 2:08:17her blood type is not the same as her parents.
- 2:08:19Right. Right.
- 2:08:21Right where she got run over. There's a truck barrelling
- 2:08:25toward him and in his sort of grief stricken stupor, he
- 2:08:31doesn't dodge it and he gets run over, presumably guys, and he
- 2:08:37goes airborne. And I was like, I got true
- 2:08:39beauty flashbacks. Yeah, I, I screamed because I I
- 2:08:45was hope because, OK, just to pay.
- 2:08:48I wasn't expecting this. Yeah, just because he had
- 2:08:49already seen it. Not at all.
- 2:08:50And. He reiterated to test.
- 2:08:52Like, I'm not gonna go and kill myself.
- 2:08:54I made a promise to unsung. Yeah, I'm gonna live.
- 2:08:58Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, absolutely.
- 2:09:00And like, he's going, he's walking through their hometown
- 2:09:03and he's like they're they're the show is playing scenes of
- 2:09:07like all of Jinsong Unsaw's moments, their whole.
- 2:09:09It's very yeah. And it's very beautiful and it's
- 2:09:11very touching. And then you know.
- 2:09:16I. I was, I literally, I think I
- 2:09:19was finishing this episode at like 2:00 AM and I literally sat
- 2:09:22up and I was like, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 2:09:28Because I was like unsaught. We we've already had a death.
- 2:09:33I've never seen anything like it before because I was like, oh,
- 2:09:36like no one's safe. And like, and mind you, like
- 2:09:38they're playing like he gets hit by the truck.
- 2:09:41His body is like flying through the air.
- 2:09:43But then they're still playing these, you know, scenes of like
- 2:09:46throughout the show. And I was like, what's
- 2:09:48happening? And I honestly, I know you said
- 2:09:51that like, he was like in a grief, grief induced to me.
- 2:09:54Like, I, I interpreted this scene as him letting the truck
- 2:09:57hit him. Like, no, me too.
- 2:09:59I I think he let the truck hit him.
- 2:10:01Like, I don't think. I don't think he wanted to.
- 2:10:02I said in my notes, I said he waits for the truck.
- 2:10:05Yeah. He literally waits for the truck
- 2:10:06to hit him. He didn't move.
- 2:10:07He hadn't more than enough time to move.
- 2:10:09Yeah, and like he said he didn't want to live without her and I,
- 2:10:13but when I tell you I was shocked, like I just felt like I
- 2:10:17was like slapped in the face. And then they said thank you for
- 2:10:21watching Autumn in my heart. Yeah, that was it.
- 2:10:23And I was like, I, I, it just added insult to injury, like him
- 2:10:28dying as well. I was like, I was, I did not see
- 2:10:31this coming at all. And I was like, wow, they don't
- 2:10:33write shows like this anymore because no one's safe.
- 2:10:35I was like literally holding my holding my head when I was
- 2:10:39watching the sea because I was like, that didn't just happen.
- 2:10:42Hold on, hold on, hold on hold. On I was fighting off by this
- 2:10:45point I was fighting off some sleep because I watched it
- 2:10:46pretty late as well and when he get when he got hit, you should
- 2:10:50have seen how I was like my eyes got so big like the sleep just
- 2:11:01like immediately like gone just. Your face.
- 2:11:08Oh, I was shocked out of my mind.
- 2:11:10I was like, shocked, like. I know.
- 2:11:16I thought one death would be enough.
- 2:11:17I was. Not enough.
- 2:11:19Not enough, apparently. And like, honestly, at the end,
- 2:11:22all I could think about was their parents.
- 2:11:25I was like, they've been through so much.
- 2:11:29They've lost both of their kids. I so sad.
- 2:11:36It's it's devastating. The whole show is really, really
- 2:11:41sad. And I had a wonderful time
- 2:11:46watching it. I I really am not mad that he
- 2:11:51got run over by a car and died in the same way that she got run
- 2:11:55over as a child. Yeah, you could say that she
- 2:12:00died that day. Yeah, in a way.
- 2:12:04In a way, her little life as she knew it, life as she knew it was
- 2:12:07over at that day. For sure.
- 2:12:10I wasn't. I think immediately after I
- 2:12:12watched the end, I was a little bit annoyed that he died too
- 2:12:17'cause I was like, we're doing too much, like this was like
- 2:12:20going to touch too far. But I think that it kind of
- 2:12:24brought everything full circle in regards to the fact that like
- 2:12:27these two were just like faded and their fates are intertwined.
- 2:12:32And if one goes, the other is going to go right shortly after.
- 2:12:36And so I've, I've see like the beauty in it, but like, this is
- 2:12:39a tragedy through and through. This is a tragic show.
- 2:12:44And I was not ready. And like I said, they don't
- 2:12:46write shows like this anymore because I feel like nowadays
- 2:12:48people feel like they're owed a happy ending.
- 2:12:51And in this show, it's like there's like literally no one is
- 2:12:55safe. Like you think like, oh,
- 2:12:56terminal illness, one person will die.
- 2:12:57The show will end da, da, da, like, Nope, we're all we're
- 2:13:00everyone's dying. Both of them are going to die.
- 2:13:02And I did not see that coming at all.
- 2:13:04But like, yeah, like the whole idea of like every show, he
- 2:13:06said. And happily and all that stuff.
- 2:13:08I was like, wow, that was not the case in 2000 at.
- 2:13:11All no, and this is probably why I feel the way I feel about
- 2:13:16happy endings now is because when I started watching K drama,
- 2:13:19I was in the middle. I I came in right in the middle
- 2:13:23between, you know, happy endings and these kind of endings.
- 2:13:26Yeah, right. Both were being written.
- 2:13:30It was like a nice crossover moment.
- 2:13:32Yeah. And I was dipping my toes into
- 2:13:34older dramas, and I was watching currently airing dramas as well.
- 2:13:38And so I was getting a nice mix. Yeah.
- 2:13:41And I could see the merit in both.
- 2:13:43Yes, definitely. And, like, to me, this just like
- 2:13:47it does make sense. They were faded, like, from the
- 2:13:50very beginning. Yeah.
- 2:13:52Like, how is Jones all supposed to really live without?
- 2:13:54Yeah, Like, yeah, me as the audience, we know that.
- 2:13:58Like that's impossible for him, so it makes sense, but it's who
- 2:14:02it hurts. It really hurts.
- 2:14:05And what would his life have been like?
- 2:14:06Was it going to be you, me, pestering him to be with her all
- 2:14:09over again? Right.
- 2:14:10And who would want to go through that?
- 2:14:12Was it him in the fetal position, like next to trees the
- 2:14:16rest of his life right? What was his life going to be
- 2:14:19like? Was it him losing the ability to
- 2:14:21paint? Or was it him painting only her
- 2:14:22for the rest of his life? What was what is the She was the
- 2:14:27light to his life. Exactly.
- 2:14:29I don't know what life would have looked like for him after
- 2:14:32So like it. I think it ended the way it was
- 2:14:34supposed to. I don't think it's beyond the
- 2:14:36realm of impossibility. I know, I know not.
- 2:14:39And even natural deaths, Yeah, there's so many people that have
- 2:14:43stories that looks like, oh, my grandparents, my grandfather
- 2:14:46died, and then my six months later, my grandmother died.
- 2:14:48And it was really tragic. But like, they loved each other
- 2:14:51so much. I think she died of a
- 2:14:52heartbroken heart. Like that happens in real life.
- 2:14:56It does. It does, absolutely.
- 2:14:59So I do people like them that were like destined from the
- 2:15:02start. It's like, yeah, one can't be
- 2:15:06without the other. Yeah.
- 2:15:07I don't think it's beyond the realm of impossibility that
- 2:15:09like, either he waited for the truck or he was really dazed.
- 2:15:15Mm hmm. In his grief and like he got run
- 2:15:21over. Yeah.
- 2:15:23In a very symbolic. Spot yes, yes, sorry like what A
- 2:15:28and like literally I've never seen such an abrupt.
- 2:15:32And that was an abrupt the the there was no like aftercare.
- 2:15:35It was like nothing. It was like his body is flying
- 2:15:37through the air and they're showing you a montage of
- 2:15:39pictures from the show and the they literally said thank you
- 2:15:42for watching all of my heart. And the show was over.
- 2:15:44And you don't even get a chance to like fully.
- 2:15:47So like take in what you just saw.
- 2:15:49Like I had no time to like recover from what I just
- 2:15:53watched. They're like.
- 2:15:55Walking off, guys. Yeah, walking off, literally.
- 2:15:57And I was just like, what just happened?
- 2:15:59I actually rewinded it because I was like, hold on, Like, what
- 2:16:03Did I just watch? Yeah.
- 2:16:06Yeah, So that's it. That's the show.
- 2:16:10I don't have anything else in my notes.
- 2:16:12Yeah, me neither. OK.
- 2:16:15I love this show. Still five out of five.
- 2:16:19I'm just me. Yeah, me too.
- 2:16:21I I loved it. I'm so happy you love this show
- 2:16:23as much as I did 'cause like I was like, I really hope, just
- 2:16:25loves it. I'm just so glad you did.
- 2:16:28It was beautiful. Everything is sad and romantic
- 2:16:34and awful and madding and all the things you want AK drama to
- 2:16:38do. Yes, yes, it like it.
- 2:16:40Really captures the essence of like why I love K dramas.
- 2:16:44I was like This is why I watch these and it just captured it
- 2:16:48perfectly and it's definitely my favorite from the series so far.
- 2:16:53Of course I enjoyed Winter Sonata, I'm enjoying summer
- 2:16:55scent but like this one is, it just hits different.
- 2:16:59It's hard to top. Yeah, Yeah, it's hard.
- 2:17:04It's so hard to top. Anyway, before we get out of
- 2:17:07here, I want to thank you, Nas, for going on this journey with
