- 0:12Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We're grateful wherever you're joining us from, whether you're watching, whether you're listening, no matter where you're at in the world, North America, South America, Africa, Europe, Asia, Oceania, Antarctic, Greenland.
- 0:32Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We really do appreciate you joining us on this particular episode of the show.
- 0:41Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: This particular episode is one of these very difficult shows to talk about because we're going to be talking about mental health, clearly, and two kind of separate events that have occurred kind of in the last I guess week the two weeks.
- 1:10Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And PR announcements and lots going on.
- 1:31Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: The one event, the one topic happened prior with the uh the second event happening a much much closer in in time.
- 1:50Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So we're gonna start again.
- 1:54Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: This is you know, we're talking about mental health, we're talking about unfortunately here two individuals that were uh very uh I'm not gonna describe their uh sense of mind and you know where they were at.
- 2:16Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh but just recently uh within the day, I believe, from when we're filming this particular show, uh, according to the news outlet TMZ, James Ransome uh has uh passed away at the age of forty-six.
- 2:41Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: He is known for uh um projects such as The Wire Chapter Two, and he passed away uh his his uh cause of death was suicide.
- 3:04Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh he took took his own life, and uh it's uh not not something that's it's not something that's easy to talk about because right, we have these resources and say, hey, we've got this number, it's 988, and if you or somebody you know is experiencing a mental health crisis, you know, you can you can call, you can text, you can log on and and and chat uh with uh with individuals to kind of help through the the process of what what's what's happening and not sure of the state of mind.
- 4:02Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We're not gonna assume what somebody was feeling.
- 4:08Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh but James Ransome uh as an actor and is known for again, this is according to the news outlet TMZ.
- 4:22Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh it passed away on Friday, and a medical examiner's website lists the manner of death as uh suicide by hanging.
- 4:37Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And it just very sad, very, very, very sad um that that this uh this occurred.
- 4:49Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: He's also uh had small roles on Third Watch and uh the TV show Ed.
- 4:58Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And and so we want to, again, as as we're we're sharing this information, because it's important to know that we hear sometimes about oh mental health, oh big deal.
- 5:25Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Well, it is a big deal because we all have mental health, and we don't know what somebody was thinking what exactly occurred in their lives in the moments leading up to the to that ultimate choice, that ultimate decision.
- 5:58Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So we wanna we wanna keep James Ranson and his family, loved ones, everybody that they know, but now we're we're sharing it also about mental health and how important it it really is.
- 6:26Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Um so it's tough.
- 6:33Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It's tough to and I know with you know social media and computers and you know, we we hear a lot more about these events in a much sooner time frame than we had in the past.
- 6:55Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So I'm not gonna go out and say, oh, these events never happen, you know, in the past 30, 40, 50, 60 years.
- 7:11Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I don't know.
- 7:13Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Maybe they have, but as far as the rate, like how how often, all I know is this is why we do what we do.
- 7:28Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We share about mental health, we share about stories and events from me, from other guests, and how important mental health is.
- 7:41Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And that's why Voices for Voices was started, and we've we've done plenty of shows to talk about that.
- 7:50Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So we're not gonna we're not gonna rehash that.
- 7:54Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We just have to do whatever we can to to help.
- 8:05Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I mean, I I I don't know, I don't know if if he was being seen.
- 8:10Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I don't I don't know that that that story.
- 8:14Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh all I know is you know this this awful headline.
- 8:19Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And then there is kind of the shock and awe that happened with Rob Reiner and his wife's Michele Reiner singers that they were tragically taken from the world by allegedly, allegedly, it was their son uh Nick, Nick Reiner that that took their lives, and so there's some more information.
- 9:18Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So this is off a reporting by TMZ and page six dot com under the you know celebrity news area.
- 9:31Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We got a little more information about you know Rob and Michele.
- 9:40Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So it appears based off the reporting that Conan O'Brien, a lot of people know know his name, had a party, had a holiday party uh last weekend, so not this weekend, but the weekend prior.
- 10:03Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And I guess let's back up a little bit.
- 10:11Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: There were multiple media outlets and reports and interviews in the past years, and one of them was uh the father Rob Reiner and son Nick.
- 10:33Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And they were being interviewed in.
- 10:40Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Oh, here we go.
- 10:48Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So the the video started playing, so sorry for that.
- 10:54Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh so in this interview, Rob and and Sun Nick are just talking a little bit about mental health and some of the feelings that he he has had at times.
- 11:14Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And so, you know, Rob and Michele parents knew that there was some some kind of mental mental health, mental illness, uh diagnoses, and they were doing everything they could from the report to help their son Nick.
- 11:45Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh so fast forward uh to this uh this party at Conan O'Brien's, her holiday party, uh Nick, the son of Rob and Michele.
- 12:02Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: They were they they got in a some kind of a heated argument, and so much so to at least one of the guests was thinking about calling 911 to to to see if see if they could get some help.
- 12:30Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Yeah, the he was acting erratic, asking people if they were famous.
- 12:36Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Nick Nick, the son, was apparently and so there was this big argument with mom and dad and Nick.
- 12:48Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And Conan said, Hey, this is my party.
- 12:57Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We're not gonna call 911, we're we'll take care of this.
- 13:01Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And so yeah, Conan drops in and says, Hey, telling telling guests, stop, don't call 911.
- 13:13Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And and so that all occurred.
- 13:21Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Quote, Conan said, quote, but Conan stepped in and said, It's my house, my party, I'm not calling the police, and quote.
- 13:33Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So he talked, he talked those individuals out of calling the police.
- 13:38Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Unfortunately, not not too many hours later, um, Nick's parents, Rob and Michelle Singer, Reiner, were found deceased at their Brentwood home in Los Angeles.
- 14:00Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And what is what is even more troubling is I'm trying to go through this article here and get us uh every everything we can.
- 14:24Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So during this party, Rob, the father, uh, again, this is reportedly through TNZ and page six.com.
- 14:38Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Uh Rob allegedly reported uh to some friends at that party that he, Rob, was petrified that that his son Nick could hurt him.
- 14:53Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And I guess what it looks like to be in quotes, quote, I'm petrified of Nick.
- 15:09Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I can't believe I'm gonna say this, but I'm afraid of my son.
- 15:13Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I think my own son can hurt me, and quote, uh this uh unnamed celeb alleged that Rob said.
- 15:26Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So again, his verbal spat, and then just hours later, just hours later, Rob and Michele's daughter and Nick's sister, Romy, found the couple's slain bodies.
- 16:00Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: They were stab, they were found with stab wounds to their throats, along with other wounds found throughout their bodies.
- 16:11Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Rob was age 78 and Michele was age 70.
- 16:19Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And so it's very it's hard to talk about these actions.
- 16:33Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And again, I'm it was through the rumor mill and through the interview that I I had watched, I'm not sure where it was and what span of time it was, if it was like within the last year or or several years.
- 16:58Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: But mental health was definitely into play here.
- 17:05Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Remember, we all have mental health, and so it from the outlets that we're finding, and again, we're no experts on any of this, we're just sharing information.
- 17:26Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Sometimes we get we get information, feedback of what's the big deal about mental health, and you know, just unkind words.
- 17:42Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And and so this is why we're talking about mental health and mental illness is because these things unfortunately have continued.
- 18:01Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: You know, first with the actor just the other day taking his life by suicide and then with if we if we believe the reports that are out there that that Nick was the one, well, we know something.
- 18:32Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We know that Rob and Michele Reiner uh were tragically taken from this world.
- 18:40Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So we know that uh because they're no longer with us, unfortunately.
- 18:48Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So it is, it's important that we talk about this.
- 18:54Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Again, this is one of these topics that people don't like when we talk about and we share information.
- 19:06Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: But it's actual events, it's actual yeah, it's actual events, things that have happened.
- 19:21Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So that's why we bring these up, that's why we talk about them.
- 19:32Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We don't like talking about these events, but we'd be doing a horrible disservice if we weren't talking about them in what reports look to be related to mental health and mental illness potentially.
- 19:59Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So that's why we're talking about that.
- 20:04Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We all know my background, we all know where all that is.
- 20:12Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: So I find it even extra important that we talk about and we share this information.
- 20:26Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We do.
- 20:30Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: We do have this 988 hotline that's available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.
- 20:38Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: I'm not sure what set events and in emotion.
- 20:59Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: What I know is the world has three less people on on the planet right now.
- 21:09Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And so that's why we're talking about this.
- 21:15Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It's very hard.
- 21:29Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It's hard to talk about anybody that loses their life prematurely.
- 21:38Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Sounds like Rob and Michele, they they were trying their best, trying to do as much as they could for their son, Nick.
- 21:50Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Do I know that as a fact?
- 21:54Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: No.
- 21:55Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: They saw for the reporting that I've seen and heard, which I quoted, you know, page six and TMZ.
- 22:05Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Some I call them gossip sources.
- 22:12Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Well, that's where I got the information from.
- 22:15Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And so we just hope and pray for the day in the days where we don't have to report on these kinds of news stories and tragic events.
- 22:49Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Regardless if it's in Hollywood or if people have humongous mansions or whether they don't.
- 23:03Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: A human life is a human life.
- 23:07Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And it doesn't just affect the individual, it affects family members, it affects friends, colleagues, maybe fellow students, fellow teammates.
- 23:37Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: That's the part with any of these types of events that occur is it's not just one individual that's affected or impacted.
- 23:59Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It's a whole host of people that are impacted.
- 24:03Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And that's why I think it's all the more relevant when we talk on our shows in our interviews, media appearances, when we say that we we really enjoy, we really love what we do, because we do.

- 28:31Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: It's pretty incredible, pretty remarkable.
- 28:34Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: And this is a reason why we keep going.
- 28:39Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: Because there's still people to help.
- 28:42Voices for Voices, Justin Alan Hayes: There's still people that can benefit by our stories, by our events, by things that we've been through or are going through.
