- Tita Lors: Okay. Boop. Yay! That's so fun to do. I love every single time I hear that. Okay, I'm glad we don't hate it because God, imagine sitting through that and having to hear it. Robin Axline: Yeah, I think I would have a big problem there. Tita Lors: Yeah, seriously. Okay, so I wanted to start this episode with an a personal, am I the asshole that I just thought about? And I don't remember how it came to my memory. Was I watching something or I just thought about something or read something? I don't know. but we'll start there and then see where the day takes us. I know where the day is gonna take us, but this is where we're starting. Okay, so I'm gonna call it, Am I the Asshole for Telling My Classmates to Shut the Fuck Up. What are you drinking? Robin Axline: interrupt your story. It's Zero Sugar Mountain Dew Baja Cabo Citrus. And no, we're not sponsored, but we're taking offers. So if you're listening Mountain Dew. Tita Lors: I know seriously. Are they problematic? I hope not. don't know. Everyone is problematic. Robin Axline: continue. Tita Lors: OK. So this was in high school. I look I'm so smart. I even wrote down why I wrote this. OK, so I was listening to Reddit on Wiki, which is another podcast that I think is really cool. Robin Axline: Okay. Tita Lors: So and. A story they were reading reminded me. So that's how I came to this. It reminded me of something that I did when I was in high school and I was a spicy teenager. So there's a girl and a boy, these two cats at high school. One, we're going to call the chick Amanda. We're going to call the dude. What did I call him? Eric. And Eric was like the typical popular surfer boy with like the shoulder length, blonde, wavy haircut and like the blue eyes. Very popular at my school, my school was a surf school. It's like right off the. coast. think we even had like a surf class in the mornings, like a zero period surf class. Yeah, exactly. So he was popular and she was kind of she was popular but in her own way but in a more misfortunate way. More like I'm pretty sure that she was just differently abled, potentially on the spectrum, or that there was just a delay somewhere. And people knew this about her, and they'd known at this like school system, people had known each other for a really long time. I was new to the school system, so whatever. And Yeah, I don't know. was just, she was an interesting person on her own. Like sometimes a little bit mean, but I understood why she had to be probably like having to defend herself against bullies and stuff. But all of the popular people knew her to some level liked her and were like kind to her and all that stuff. So we're in a, I think it was like summer school and We were in a class together, and it's hot, blah, blah, I don't know, whatever. They're kind of going back and forth with each other about God knows what, I don't know, but I remember being so freaking annoyed with them. I'm like, shut up already. Like what the, nobody cares. Really, no one cares. And I'm like. I'm here, I'm trying to learn. If this is summer school, then I'm not here to sit and listen to you bicker. I'm here to actually learn something. Don't waste my freaking time. I could be like with my cousins hanging out. It's summer, right? So, so they're like going back and forth. And then finally, I'm just like, shut the fuck up. Out loud, I said this. I was like, listen, both of you shut the fuck up. Literally shut the fuck up. And then the class goes quiet and everyone's like, ooh. And the girl stands up and just storms out. Amanda is what we're calling her, right? Stands up, storms out. Ooh, again from the peanut gallery, right? And I'm like, fucking A, dude. So I stand up, I slam out of the door, like slam the door open and go talk to her. I'm like, I'm sorry. I don't mean to be an ass. It's just... No one cares! I'm pretty Robin Axline: Yeah. Tita Lors: sure I did tell her no one cares. I'm pretty sure I was just like, I'm sorry, I'm not trying to be mean. Right? It's just that like... It's a classroom. You know? Good freaking question, Robin! Good freaking Robin Axline: No one cares. Wow. Yeah. Where was the teacher in all this? Tita Lors: question! Not a clue! Robin Axline: I'm like, how is this happening? Tita Lors: I don't know. I don't remember how Robin Axline: What? Tita Lors: any of this happened without the teacher intervening or interrupting or what the Robin Axline: you Tita Lors: teacher said. I don't remember there even being a teacher in that classroom. Where they were standing. Exactly. There's no teacher here, but I'm trying to learn something. I don't Robin Axline: You're like, shut up, I'm trying to learn. There's no teacher in here. Tita Lors: know. Was there a teacher? Where were they? Why didn't they say anything? I don't know. So. I go out, I apologize, Amanda's like, it's not you, it's just that Eric blah blah blah, I wasn't listening, I didn't care. And I was like, cool, whatever. Exactly, Robin Axline: I'm not a therapist yet. Tita Lors: like cool, whatever, it's not my fault, I don't care, that's all I heard, that's all I gathered, that's what's important. I walk back inside and I was like, she's not mad at me, she's mad at that asshole. And then I go and I sit down and I just sit there and I'm trying to like actively calm my body down because I can feel my heart racing. And I'm like, just breathe. Yeah, and eventually she comes back and I guess the classroom goes back to normal or whatever, but that was so annoying. So, was I the asshole for telling them to shut the fuck up? Robin Axline: Man, I wish I was there. Sounds like a wild classroom. Tita Lors: Right? Robin Axline: What was the subject? Or did I miss that part? Tita Lors: I don't even know. I don't know. probably Robin Axline: Okay. Tita Lors: history, because I didn't really pay attention to history. And I specifically remember all of my, like, science teachers and all of my math teachers. So if I don't remember, it was probably history. I also remembered most of my English teachers. Yeah, I think it was history. But. why didn't the teacher say something? Why was I the one who had to be like, shut the fuck up? Robin Axline: Yeah, maybe it was like a teacher that was like, it's summer and then they're just out to lunch. They're just like, let them. Tita Lors: Yeah, yeah, or maybe they did say something. I'm trying to recall if the teacher ever said anything, but because I was so in like, my body went into fight or flight because I really, since I was a new student, like, or new words and everyone else, like everyone else had gone through school together from like elementary and up. And I didn't go to that school until eighth grade. or that school system. So everyone knew each other and I'm just there like, why am I talking? I like shut up, right? Be invisible. Don't bring attention to yourself, blah, blah, or whatever. But I was on one that day, I guess. I have no idea what's going on. Robin Axline: It sounds like. Yeah, I well, I started high school and I not knowing anybody, but everybody all went to middle school together and everything. And so I totally understand how that is. I was just like new kid. Tita Lors: Yeah, it's... Yeah, it's hard to be the new kid. Robin Axline: Yeah. But anyways, I don't think that was petty of you. Especially because like you were saying is probably disruptive to the learning of everybody in the classroom. Tita Lors: Yeah, it was like no one was paying attention. Obviously, I sure as shit wasn't paying attention to the teacher. I don't even remember what class it was. Robin Axline: Yeah. Tita Lors: But yeah. So, not petty. Maybe the asshole. Robin Axline: yeah, I forgot that was the question, but yeah, either one of those Tita Lors: you Robin Axline: interchangeable for the story. Tita Lors: Yeah. Okay, well, that's my story. And on to the most important part about today's episode. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday, my co-host Robin. Happy birthday to you. Thank you. I was channeling my inner Marilyn Monroe breathy voice. Yeah, like losing my breath. was like, need more air. Robin Axline: Good job. You really like committed to the bit. I didn't know this was my birthday episode. Surprise, surprise. Tita Lors: Indeed. Now, this week, but next week when we do my next episode, you're going to understand why I'm so annoyed that I didn't do this switch up sooner. But it's fine. It's fine because today's episode is all about you in some way, or form. The through line and everything that we talk about today is Robin. Robin Axline: Ugh. I mean, I feel honored. How about that? that. Tita Lors: Yeah. Okay. So I have a question for you. Do you ever feel like you're having an identity crisis astrologically? Robin Axline: Mmm, okay, I see. Good question. I just, I guess as a Leo, I'm legally required to have an identity crisis every few months, right? I Tita Lors: Nope. Robin Axline: mean, July is my entire month though, so... I know I'm a Leo son, and that's like big creative energy and like performance and I totally jive with that. how I'm kind of an expressive creative Leo, but then I also have these like deep kind of unsure feelings at a time. And so I feel like I'm just constantly like shedding identities over and over again. But I do relate hard to being a Leo and then sometimes the excuse me, the other parts of my birth chart, which I don't always keep up on, but what? Tita Lors: Well, I have your birth chart. Robin Axline: You do. Tita Lors: I do! I have your birth chart. I'll email it to you. Robin Axline: Wha? I am shook. Tita Lors: Yes, if your husband was asking you weird-ass frickin' questions all weekend, that's because of me. Robin Axline: my gosh. That was a really sneaky one because he was Tita Lors: You Robin Axline: like talking about some town and then he's like, but you weren't born there. You were born here, right? Or something weird. And I was like, yeah. But I didn't even Tita Lors: Why are you asking? Robin Axline: like it just went. Dang, sneaky. Wow, Tita Lors: huh. Robin Axline: good job. That was good. Well, he really acted the heck out of that because I thought he was like trying to figure something out. Tita Lors: Go, Ian. of applause for Ian. Robin Axline: That's crazy. Yeah, I didn't even go like, why are you asking me that? Tita Lors: That's so funny. So, yeah, your big three is sun, Leo, moon, Pisces, and ascending is cancer. But the big reason why I'm asking, if you feel this astrological crises is because you are a cusper. Mm hmm. You are. You're a cusper. So and this just the idea of cuspers is I guess charged in the astrology world because some people believe it and some people don't that like in the final few days of that cycle. Robin Axline: screaming. No, it is. It is. Yeah. Tita Lors: I have it. Yeah, I'm right. Yeah, okay, cool. Yes, see? Yes. ha ha. Go me. Robin Axline: Yeah, I was like, I'm pretty sure it is, then I was like questioning myself. OK, yes. Tita Lors: Me too! It's like, I'm pretty sure I think it's this. Is it? No, I wanna like make sure again. It is. Robin Axline: No, I know it is because my dad has like a funny thing about it and my mom has a funny thing about May or June to July. They both have like weird... They have thoughts, let's just say that. I'll tell you off mic. Anyways, so yes, I know that for a fact. Tita Lors: Okay. Now I'm curious. Rubbin spill. okay. Yes. So you are on the cancer Leo cusp. And so there's this idea that you feel a little bit of the cancer and a lot of bit of the Leo cause Leo is like your son, but there's still that there. And then for you specifically, your ascending is also a cancer. yeah, so hence the question, do you ever feel that kind of astrological identity crisis? Robin Axline: Yeah, that's a good ques- I mean I- So, to answer it, yes, I do sometimes. Because I do- like, sometimes Tita Lors: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Okay. Robin Axline: I feel very one-way, and then I'm like, yeah, but I'm kind of shy about other things and that doesn't always align, or I'm always like, in my head, or- I don't know. Go ahead. Tita Lors: Mm-hmm. Yeah. So I have your natal chart. Robin Axline: Oh my gosh. Wow, you really went above and beyond. Yeah, now I know. Tita Lors: And I told you there's so much. I like, what do want to focus on? I even know what your Chinese zodiac is. But do you know what element your Chinese zodiac is? Robin Axline: Whoa, whoa, water, hmm. Tita Lors: Mm hmm. Yep. And like the element lends itself. It lends a different character trait to like the zodiac, the Chinese zodiac. But I didn't focus too much on that one because I found out you're a cusper. Robin Axline: I was today years old when I found out I was a cuss for t- Tita Lors: You Robin Axline: So. Tita Lors: Okay. So from your, before we get into the cusp thing, from your natal chart, a short description of your sun, moon and ascending. I'm just going to read it to you. She is masterful, brave, and competitive. She likes authority. She aspires towards an ideal. She likes to give advice. She is honest, frank, loyal, open, and sincere. Possible issues are pride, vanity, arrogance, presumption, and disdain for others. I know, geez. Leo Robin Axline: my. Tita Lors: with a cancer ascending. She is given to pouting and sulking, very warm, sensitive and loving personality. She is gently persuasive, can be quite the actor. She is brilliant at reading the room, can seem okay on the sidelines, but will do whatever she can to get back to the lead or center stage. Proud, will also maneuver things to work in her favor if need be. May take everything quite personally. And then the short description of your Moon in Pisces is imaginative, sharp insights. She's impressionable with abundant imagination, gentle, warm, humorous and artistic. then potential issues with your Moon in Pisces is troubles caused by too much sentimentality, worries, problems, unhealthy imagination, escapism and nervousness. It was like, I don't know. Some of that doesn't seem right, but you tell me this is about you. I know! Robin Axline: unhealthy imagination. Tita Lors: What's an unhealthy imagination? Exactly. Well, I will send you the full thing Robin Axline: Like what is unhealthy about it? Maybe I don't want to know. Yeah. Thanks. Tita Lors: later. I got it from two different places. But yeah, do you agree? Robin Axline: I loved how you read it. It was just so like... fancy. No. Yeah, I Tita Lors: trying to be professional. Robin Axline: do agree with a lot of those. The one that was like, likes authority, I was like, what in the world? That is like the Tita Lors: I know, was like, really? Where? Robin Axline: opposite of me. I'm like, don't tell me what to do. Tita Lors: Hahaha Robin Axline: That kind of is unless I'm the authority that maybe that's a little bit different, but Tita Lors: I know, maybe she should likes to be the authority. Robin Axline: Yeah, so I'm like, no. If it's that, then no. But yeah, obviously acting and creativity and Tita Lors: Yeah. Robin Axline: those kinds of things. I don't pout or sulk ever. So I don't think. What else? I think. Tita Lors: Yeah, I don't know. Let's ask Ian. Ian's on the other line. I'm just kidding. No, he's not. Could Robin Axline: no! Tita Lors: you imagine? Robin Axline: my god, I would be shook. I would be shook if he arranged that Tita Lors: you Robin Axline: too, but I definitely don't need that. Plus he doesn't really believe in this, so I don't know how much he'd go along with it. But Tita Lors: Hello. Robin Axline: I think the kind of sensitive warm part too kind of feels accurate. But everything else I'm like, not 100%. Tita Lors: Yeah. Yeah, there was some of it where I was just like, oh yeah, that feels very much like the Robin I know. And then there's some parts of it was like, what? I've not seen Robin Axline: you Tita Lors: this part of her. I have no idea what you're talking about. Robin Axline: Yeah, yeah, some of it I was like, that's, I don't know who that is, not me. But like I was Tita Lors: Seriously. Robin Axline: saying though, like, with kind of the mix that I have does work with the identity shedding that I seem to experience quite often. So this cusp thing kind of checks out. Tita Lors: Mm-hmm. With like the experimenting with different identities. I guess it's not experimenting. It's like. Yeah, yeah, yeah, Mm-hmm. Yeah. OK, so each cusp is called something different. And for you, for you. Robin Axline: Me? Tita Lors: I was going to say for you or for your and then I just put them together. You are. Robin Axline: girl. Tita Lors: Your cusp is called the cusp of oscillation. Yes, I pronounced it correctly. OK, I'm just going to read it. This is from tarot.com. So I don't want to the whole thing. We'll just read parts of it. OK. So if you were born on the Cancer Leo cusp between July 19th and July 25th. Cancer and Leo are two very different zodiac signs. Cancer is very sensitive and ruled by the emotional moon, while Leo is proud, brave, and ruled by the fiery sun. To be influenced by both the moon and the sun can be incredibly beneficial, but also very challenging. If you can learn to oscillate smoothly between these two energies, you'll not only be able to feel and comprehend your emotions and the emotions of others, but you'll know how to express an on them appropriately. You are also ruled by two very contrasting elements. The combination of water and fire can create a scalding steam. Ooh, steamy. You may shift from shy and sensitive to a theatrical drama queen in two seconds flat. Robin Axline: Whoa. Sounds like me. Tita Lors: The water element emphasizes your emotions, but the fire in you can bring out, can bring these out in a volatile way instead of a constructive way. Acting on your feelings is a good thing as long as you channel them into love and not aggression or defensiveness. Okay, just two more paragraphs. And to do as you ask, just make sure you're using this for good and not for your own personal gain. I could never see you do this. Oh my gosh. Oh wait. I know. Okay. Robin Axline: my god, Puppet Master. Puppet Master 2 or 3. No, just kidding. Tita Lors: Alright, there's one more hold on born on the Leo cancer Leo cusp. You have the potential to be a well rounded dynamic person. You are influenced by two drastically different signs and it will take effort on your part to make these energies work together instead of against each other. Combining your care for others with your confidence in yourself will make you a successful leader who is deeply respected by your team, both at work and at home, you'll feel more fulfilled if you were if you're devoting your time to helping others and making a positive difference. Keep yourself balanced and you'll do incredible things. Robin Axline: that that's it's so funny because that's literally my kind of mission is to help other people and make a change so that's wild to me Tita Lors: Yeah, actually in a lot of the different things that I read, like the more in depth stuff, like in your natal chart and in this Leo cusp thing and just about Leos in general, there is a lot about like how much you... than you found it or like leave whatever space you were in better than you found it. And I just can't fit all the stuff about like being arrogant or vain or whatever. like, where? I've never seen this. I'd love to. Robin Axline: Yeah, I need that to come out somehow. Where is it? I'd say it mostly comes out Tita Lors: I like, I'd love to see more of it, actually. Robin Axline: when it's my birthday month and I'm like, all right, what are we doing? Tita Lors: Yeah Robin Axline: Man, I almost started crying. That was very nice of you to say. And it just really, it's funny because that is one of my things I tell myself, like leave things better than how you found it. So it's funny you say that. For reals. I think Tita Lors: Mm-hmm. yay, and I didn't even know that. Robin Axline: you, I think we can make a TikTok of you reading these things. You read everything so eloquently. So yeah. Tita Lors: Thank you. I used to work at a like a group home facility. And when I would do like the evening shifts, one of the groups that we had to do was like a meditation group to prepare the kids for sleep. And so every time I was there at night, they're like, no, she has to read it because she reads it in a really calm way. I was like, thanks. Robin Axline: That's cool. Tita Lors: But if anyone ever wants to know the secret, forget who told me this, but if you're trying to read something for meditative purposes or in a calming way, you drop your voice at the end of each sentence. So exactly, right? So instead of Robin Axline: Really? Really? I'm just kidding. Tita Lors: instead of being like, She is given to pouting and sulking. Very warm, sensitive, and loving personality. You want to like bring it down? She is given to pouting and sulking. Very warm, sensitive, and loving personality. Right? Mm-hmm. So if you ever Robin Axline: Ooh, hot too. I like that. Tita Lors: want to bring the energy down, doing that helps a lot. Okay, so that's you being a cusper. Okay, Robin Axline: That's me. Tita Lors: and then I have a Leo revenge story. so this is on Reddit r slash astrology memes and it's from two years ago by pop astrologers sucks. Robin Axline: sucks at the bottom and sucks Tita Lors: Yes, pop astrologer sucks. Yeah. Robin Axline: keep these names coming people Tita Lors: And the headline says, or the title is, so I just saw how an example of how Leos take revenge today. WTF. I work for a large company and four years ago, our manager, a Capricorn lady, how do you know this about your manager? Right? Like, Robin Axline: Yeah, that's a little peculiar. Tita Lors: I don't know this much about, I don't think I knew this much about my managers when I was working for other people. Okay, Capricorn Lady and her boss, Scorpio. Again, how do you know? Robin Axline: Herb- how do you know Herb-Oz? Is this an astrology business or? Okay. Tita Lors: No, I don't know, don't think so. Okay, anyways, so manager Capricorn lady boss Scorpio had a Leo employee quit the team because of how much they gaslit him and made fun of him. The guy was rather young and was often berated in front of others and mocked for some reason. Well, here's what happens. Said Leo had been forming a partnership with HR and other departments. So instead of getting fired, he gets moved to a different division in another city. The department grows and starts getting responsibilities at the department he used to be part of. Our department. I was always cool with him, but that could be because of my Libra son. Okay. taking it little bit too far, but okay. So the current VP and manager after a poor performance in 2021 and 2022 are on thin ice with leadership. New VP is hired for said Leo's department and said Leo works with a new VP to have a massive 2022 and an even bigger 2023, which the C level loves. I don't know what that means, but cool. So the VP and the manager who probably fired the Leo, they were not performing well. Right? Am I tracking correctly? Robin Axline: Yes, yes. Okay. I'm with you. Tita Lors: Yeah, and then the new VP and the Leo, they've been working together and things are just on the up and up. Okay, so said Leo makes close friendships with the sea level and somehow back in September, the Scorpio VP is gone and the position is being interviewed for. We were joking about how often said Leo and the CFO are doing things like going to football games together and they even went to a UFC fight together. Robin Axline: What? Tita Lors: In December, Sed Leo becomes the new VP! And we found out today that he put the Capricorn manager on a performance improvement plan. It's what companies put you on to let you know you're getting fired, but they just need to cover their asses. Today, Capricorn boss was fired and it gets even more insane. How much more insane? Okay. Anyways, obviously I read, I totally read this before I started reading it right now. Okay. Robin Axline: Yeah, yeah, Just a review. Tita Lors: So, said Leo, gives all the Capricorn's business to a Libra lady she hated. Robin Axline: Labor lady, okay. This is wild. Tita Lors: And it does not stop there. The people on our team who were the bosses' favorites all earn a demotion and pay cut due to their bad performance. One was let go and cried in the office begging the Leo to keep him around. and to rub salt in the wounds said Leo presents to the entire company how our former manager was making up numbers and for new leaders to never do that again then he even highlighted poor business practices of the former Scorpio VP in front of thousands of people on a video call like bro this was 2019 let it go I thought fire science were all forgive and forget Wonder if he has a lot of Virgo in his chart. Hey, I'm insulted! I'm a Virgo! What's that mean? Robin Axline: Aww. It's not you. Wow. That was a wild roller coaster. Tita Lors: This guy goes from being where he should have been let go, but because he had close ties, friendships with people, he just got moved around and worked his way up and was able to get these people fired. Robin Axline: That is incredible, I mean... I wonder how much time that took. Tita Lors: It was, let's see. It's from Robin Axline: I don't think it's specified. Tita Lors: 2019 to two years ago, so 2024. Was that like five years? Robin Axline: That's not that bad. Tita Lors: Yeah, to move up in a company. I mean, feel like that's forever. Robin Axline: Yeah, it's not that crazy. Wow. Yeah. Tita Lors: I feel like forever. Wow. Good job, guy. But also watch out for those Leos. Robin Axline: Yeah, watch out for those Leos. That's right. There's a lot Madonna, JLo, anyways. Tita Lors: Yes! Oh, babe, thank you for that because on the year that you were born, on the year that you were born, the angels got together Robin Axline: You were born and you just got together. Tita Lors: and decided... Robin Axline: Make a wish come true. Tita Lors: So they sprinkle moon dust in your eyes and in your suit, and that's so blue. Yep. So the year you were born. Robin Axline: You're carpenters. Tita Lors: Okay. On the year that you were born in 1983. first mobile phone was made. I know, crazy, does not feel good. Microsoft Word, yeah! Robin Axline: No! Like one of those brick... Yeah. Tita Lors: Microsoft Word was just released. You Robin Axline: I keep going, I'm breathing. Tita Lors: Yes, keep breathing. Return of the Jedi topped the box offices while A Christmas Story was released. Robin Axline: fuck yeah. none a fan of that one, it's way overrated. yeah i just can't. Tita Lors: A Christmas Story? I don't think I've ever actually read it. I've seen it. Robin Axline: Yeah, except I think that leg lamp is kind of kitschy in a cool way sometimes. Okay. Tita Lors: that leg lamp. OK, OK, MTV began heavily featuring artists like Michael Jackson, Duran Duran and David Bowie. Also, the number one song was Every Breath You Take. Wait, no, actually wasn't that one. Robin Axline: okay. Stalker song. Tita Lors: No, it wasn't that one. This is a different one. It's Every Breath You Take by the Police. That's a different song, right? Robin Axline: Yeah, it's the same song, but P Diddy like sampled it. Yeah, that song Tita Lors: Yeah, that's the one that I'm okay. That's the one I'm thinking about. But yes. Robin Axline: came out when I was born the P Diddy version. Like, no question about it. Tita Lors: No, the original. Yes. The stalker song. Robin Axline: Yeah, the stalker. No, soccer song. Yes. Tita Lors: That's the one that came out. The day you were born. And also, on the day that you were born, released her debut album, Madonna. And it had Holiday, Lucky Star, and Borderline. Mm-hmm. Yes. Robin Axline: Those are iconic. Okay, I'm with it. Tita Lors: And then, you have a birthday twin. Robin Axline: I do. Tita Lors: Well, you do who I think that we both will believe is really cool. Her name is Maya Rudolph. Yeah, she's your birthday twin. Yeah. Robin Axline: Wow, I'm like a huge, huge fan of hers too. That's sick. Nice. Tita Lors: So I tried to see if there was any like controversy around her or anything about like pettiness around her, but she's relatively controversy free. There's really nothing. Yeah. I mean, she's either really good at covering her tracks or very Robin Axline: Okay. Tita Lors: private or she's just really that cool of a person. Yeah. So I want to lean towards she's that cool of a person. Robin Axline: Yeah, thanks for checking if she was problematic though. Thank God. Tita Lors: Yeah. my God, could you imagine? you know who her parents are? Robin Axline: I know her mom is Minnie Riperton. The dad I don't, I don't remember right now. Tita Lors: It's Richard and he's a writer and producer and Minnie is saying the song, yes, that one. Yes, do it. Robin Axline: Yeah. What was that? My best friend's wedding. Tita Lors: there's my exit! Robin Axline: Yeah. yeah. Yeah. I always think of that song tied to that, but yeah. Tita Lors: That's so funny. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Robin Axline: Yeah, but yeah, that's cool. I have a picture with my Rudolph. Yeah, I need to Tita Lors: You do? You're gonna have to post it. Robin Axline: figure out where it's at and then I'll if I find it, I'll post it. Tita Lors: You have to find it. Okay, so what small controversy that I could find that was connected to Maya Rudolph had to actually do with the &Ms? Yeah. Okay. Do you, should I? I'm going to show you what they look like now and you do a like what's different situation. Okay. Share. my goodness. It doesn't want to work. Okay. Actually go into our notes. Cause it doesn't want to work. Robin Axline: Okay, hold the phone. Notes, notes, notes. Let's see. I see. Okay, you got it. Tita Lors: Okay, so this is what they look like now. What do you see that's different? Robin Axline: Well, there's a female. Wait, what? The brown one has... I'm confused. The brown one has high heels. The green one used to have like boots or something, but now sneakers. Tita Lors: huh. Robin Axline: And then blue wasn't one of the original &Ms because I voted for it. And when it won, I was so stoked. Tita Lors: You Robin Axline: The orange one I don't recognize for some reason and he has that worried face Tita Lors: Okay, are you ready to see the whole thing? Boop! Did that work? There we go! So the orange at these, the switch-up happened in 2022. Robin Axline: okay. Tita Lors: Yeah, so they used to be like more flesh colored limbs. Robin Axline: weird. Tita Lors: huh. And yes, the green one had boots with heels and not sneakers. And the brown one had stilettos instead of like the block heels. then. There's something else, something about like their, their facial expressions too, I think. but they had anxiety, anxiety. They had the orange one really fully embrace anxiety, that feeling. And then a couple years later, they added a purple one. So it was another girl to the mix. So there should be another purple peanut-shaped M &M here. Yeah. So in 2022, they decided to make this change for inclusivity and acceptance. Robin Axline: Amazing. Okay. Tita Lors: Do you think that the people in general liked the change? Robin Axline: I'm people had a problem with it. Like, Tita Lors: Hahaha! Robin Axline: you know, everybody has some problem. Tita Lors: Mm hmm. Yeah. So it became so politically charged and divisive. Excuse me. Or the word is polarizing. Excuse me. With the right wing commentators and Fox News host Tucker Carlson. Yeah. Robin Axline: Ugh. Ugh, no! Tita Lors: Criticizing the campaign as woke &Ms. Yeah. So it got so polarizing that the &Ms had to take a break. They took them off the shelves. The spokescandies were indefinitely retired. Uh-huh. For a time there, they didn't exist. At least not in like the marketing anymore, or very like minimally. And that's where they asked Maya to come in and be the spokesperson for a while. Yeah, mm-hmm. And I didn't either. Like, I was looking at the commercials, and I don't remember any of these commercials. I obviously was not paying attention. Yeah, here, I'll show you. Okay, so, During this time... Robin Axline: Why don't I know about this? That's so weird. Tita Lors: I'm gonna I know right so from like 20 2022 to 2023 or the end of, I don't know, at some point after the Super Bowl or something, Maya was the spokesperson because she doesn't have a lot of controversy behind her and generally everybody really likes her. So they had created a whole bunch of Super Bowl commercials around the idea that everyone likes her and she could basically do whatever. And they made fun of the whole, like, the whole issue, the controversy around the spokes candies. I am going to show you. We'll see if I can show it to you. on. Exit out of here. Robin Axline: To me it's crazy that like, first of all, it's not news, but Fox News is not news. And then also like for that community or whatever it is to make the company that big of a deal to get them to change it is really, Tita Lors: Crazy. Robin Axline: yes. Tita Lors: I apparently it was like how dare they so people had issues with Robin Axline: shit. Tita Lors: with like the stilettos like why do you have to like take away her femininity blah blah blah blah just like all of these things it's crazy Robin Axline: Get a life. Tita Lors: it's they're just &Ms people And then they created exactly. And then this is like the new purple one. I'm not going to make you watch this one, but this is the Robin Axline: you Tita Lors: they were introducing her. It's the new purple Eminem and it was right before women's. Wednesday, yeah, Women's Day for the year. And they had like a whole women only color package, which was super cool for like female empowerment. But here are Maya's Super Bowl commercials. Here we go. Robin Axline: That's sand. Tita Lors: Help in the background. Robin Axline: Yeah. Tita Lors: Hold on. So yeah, those are the Super Bowl commercials. It's so awkward. I love how she's able to always make fun of herself. Yeah. And then this one is when they all came back and it's a super short one. You Robin Axline: That was a cute little voice on the purple person. Yeah. Tita Lors: Yeah, I know, I wanna know who the voice was for her. So, that is the controversy around Eminem's and Maya Rudolph. Robin Axline: Wow, I just like didn't have any idea about that. Tita Lors: Me either! Like, where was I during this time? What was I doing? What? I obviously was not paying attention to anything. Did I watch the Super Bowl that year? Robin Axline: okay, now I'm curious what musical guests or what was the year? I'm Twenty. Tita Lors: It's either 2022 or 2023. Robin Axline: Okay, so 2022 was the Dr. Dre Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar one. I, so I watched the performance of that one, but I didn't watch the commercials. So that's a highly suspect one. Let me see that. Tita Lors: Okay. Okay. So it was 23. Robin Axline: Oh, okay. So that one was, oh, I definitely watched that Rihanna. Hello. Tita Lors: haha Robin Axline: That was amazing. But maybe I didn't watch the commercials. Tita Lors: Yeah, I don't remember. I don't remember that at all. So my question, I guess, for you is, who do you think was actually being petty in all of this? Is it the American people, Mars and Mars, Maya Rudolph, or the right wing commentators? Robin Axline: I think there is traces of petty behavior in the Mars company doing these commercials. It's like obviously about what happened because they're kind of like, we're back and like the other commercial that was very colorful and it was like one for all, all for one, everybody included. I mean, I liked it, but it seemed pretty heavy handed considering. Tita Lors: Yeah, so that was like what I'm thinking because around that time it was like right after COVID restrictions are getting lifted, right? Like 21, 22 COVID restrictions are just getting lifted. But like during COVID and all of that stuff and right before it, there's just a lot of there's a lot of stuff in the media around like inclusivity and was it, my God, I can't remember the acronym. Please don't hurt me. D-E-I, D-E-I, D-I, diversity, diverse, diversity and inclusivity, D-I-A, right? Like diversion and inclusivity, okay, that one, right? So there was a lot around that. And I think that... Robin Axline: Yeah. It's funny you mentioned the pandemic because that was one of the first things I thought about because around that time I felt like a lot of news wasn't news. It was just like this panic stuff that people just ate with a spoon because I had nothing better to do. So yeah, no, I think you're right. They were just embracing the fact that their candies are rainbow for part of it. Tita Lors: Mm-hmm. Yeah. And why not be more inclusive and stuff? So. So they did that, and of course, people had a problem with it. And I like how instead of they kind of took the controversy, turned it on its head and pointed out how crazy everyone's being about it. You don't like that. The rainbows and here's some clam flavored chocolate instead. Robin Axline: Yeah, no, totally. I mean, I did like that. I was just saying there's like traces of petty in that, obviously, because they're aware. But I mean, Tita Lors: Yeah. Robin Axline: clearly, the the pettiest is the news. So. Tita Lors: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Well, that's all I've got for your birthday episode. What's your... All about you! Robin Axline: All about me. Tita Lors: Also, I think it's really funny because so Mother's Day just passed and your video that you put up was Maya Rudolph being I am mother. I was like, did she know? Robin Axline: That's crazy! No, I did not. That's Tita Lors: you Robin Axline: like one of my... I love her... That song is so funny. And then since it was Mother's Day, I was like, how appropriate. So... Tita Lors: Yeah, yeah, I was like, that was so cool. Okay, well, what's your glimmer before we head out? Robin Axline: My glimmer. There's a New Delhi about a block away from me. It's open 24 hours. And the menu is pretty extensive, including really good vegan sandwich options. And they have good juices and smoothies and The times I've been in there so far, the guys are so nice. Like, they're not what do you want kind of attitude. They're just like, do you want this? This? Like, that's what I like. And so even when I walk by, I'm just kind of like, yeah, I like this new deli. And that's my glimmer. yeah, I'll just say real quick, I think the thing that would put it over the top for me is if they got some really cute cats in there, then I would just be like... Not yet, but I have a feeling they probably would. Yeah. Tita Lors: I was gonna ask if there's a bodega cat. They'll get one, I'm sure. Yeah. Wow, I can't believe I don't have a glimmer this week. I feel like I do, I just can't think of one off the top of my head. I am going to a speakeasy today. Yeah, and I've been there before. It was pretty fun. We went when it first opened and then we're going again today, tonight. And I just thought of a glimmer, but I'll get there. And one of my friends who like very rarely comes out for late night mom stuff, she's actually going to come and I'm super excited. I was like, you can't cancel. It's twenty five dollars if you cancel. Don't do that. Robin Axline: Is that just to get in or? Tita Lors: Um, so my actual glimmer that I just thought of right now is I'm getting a new tattoo. Um, yeah, I'm super excited. I have a spot like right here that it's going to go in. It's a Luna Lovegood tattoo. I've been wanting to get this for a while. It's going to be like not matching with one of my friends, but very similar, um, components with her. So the reason why is really sad, it's because she's moving. Yeah, but still getting this really cool tattoo. So I'm excited. Yes. So that's my corner. Oh my gosh. Okay. That's all I got. Any call to actions? yeah, are you a cusper? Do you feel like you're having an astrological identity crisis ever? Tell us about it. Robin Axline: Yeah, tell us about it. yeah, if you have an identity crisis over your astrology sign, we'd love to know about that. And if you have pets doing the same thing, tell us that. Tita Lors: yeah. Wait, pets having astrology crises? Do they? That's true. You would have to... Robin Axline: they might you if you did their birth chart and and if like certain days they were feeling a little crazy or frisky Tita Lors: true, but you would have to know like when your cat was born and where it was born. You won't get there ascending, so you're not gonna know. Robin Axline: Alright, alright, alright. Well, if you do know Tita Lors: you Robin Axline: that, we really would like to know how you got that information. you and if you do tell us your birthday, we'll give you a shout out. How about that? Tita Lors: Yeah, do you want me to read your natal chart for you? I'll read it in my calm voice. Robin Axline: That is an offer too good to pass up. So send us those. yeah, send us some water and. Send us your birthdays, maybe a snack, and we'll do our best. Tita Lors: Okay, well that's our glimmers, that's our call outs, that's all we've got. We've had so much fun hanging out with you. I hope that you've had fun hanging out with us. If you have, please, please, please like and subscribe wherever you're listening so that you don't miss out on our next episode. And until next time, everyone, fuck it. Robin Axline: Stay petty. Tita Lors: speaking of snacks, look at this. Robin Axline: Whoa! Whoa, that's a lot going on. Sour wild berry skittles. my god, I have to have. Tita Lors: Yeah! It's always only ever been the green sour skittles, but now there's a pink sour skittles, the berry sour skittles. So this is new. I think it's okay. I wouldn't say that everything is my favorite, but I definitely like... I usually hate the purple ones, but I like the purple on this one because it's a berry punch. I think I just need to, I like mix them up. I put them together and I mix them up. So you need to try them individually. Like exactly. Yeah. Like, you do, sorry, I know we're saying goodbye, but we got, we both, I at least have ADHD. Do you do this thing when you have... Robin Axline: I so do I. Tita Lors: Yeah, okay. Like, do you have that particular brand of ADHD? Because I do. Robin Axline: Yes, I do. I have to figure it out, like the texture and like what each one tastes like and like Tita Lors: Yeah. Robin Axline: try different ways of eating. And then I can change it up. Yeah, then I can go, OK, Tita Lors: Yeah, what's the best combination? Robin Axline: this goes with this or yeah. So yeah. Tita Lors: huh. huh. Yeah. Or sometimes I'm like, okay, here's all the colors. But I need like all the colors to have like, how many are there here? One, two, three, four, five. So five, right? So the pairs all five together. And I'm like, okay, those are over here. And then I'm, I'm crazy. I'm just realizing it. Okay, I'm sorry. Wait, I don't think I'm a therapist. I don't think I'm allowed to say this, but like, I'm a little cuckoo in the way that I eat my candies because I'll be like, okay, here's all like these groupings have all five. Yay. So now I can like have the flavor combinations of all five. And then like, I'll just keep reducing it until these are all just the leftovers. Does that make sense? Like these don't Robin Axline: Yeah Tita Lors: have enough matching pairs or they're just a, there's so many more of these than all the other ones, so they're just the leftovers. And then I eat it backwards. Does that make sense? Robin Axline: I get it. Backwards. Tita Lors: Yeah, I'll eat the leftovers first and then the pairings and groupings get bigger so that I'm like by the end I have all of like all five and I'm like, yay, so satisfying. Robin Axline: I... wow. I understand that, but I don't think I could do that part. But I do clock, like, if there's more colors than other ones, then I feel like I could eat those more and then Tita Lors: Yeah. Robin Axline: just intersperse the other ones. I do more funny stuff like that with gummy bears, I think, too. And I try to save the white ones for maybe try to finish with one of those. no, my top pick last. I gotta end on a high note, you know? Tita Lors: Yeah, same. Exactly, exactly. Yes. Totally, totally understand that. Yeah.
