- 0:01Hey everybody, welcome to the good morning from the Chicken
- 0:04Coop podcast. My name is Kim Johnson and I am
- 0:07a mastermind, set coach, creative strategist, and also
- 0:09happen to be a farmer. This is my chicken coop and I
- 0:12come out here every day to record a podcast to teach
- 0:16distinctions, possibilities, new ways of thinking, and just bring
- 0:20some joy into the world. So welcome to the coop and let's
- 0:23start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:27Hey everybody, good afternoon from the chicken coop I'm
- 0:31shooting this Sunday afternoon for Monday morning to come out.
- 0:36Just finished doing a bunch of work out here and creating some
- 0:39benches and cleaning up and just sitting here in the space of
- 0:45some very, very peaceful time and wanted to share this space
- 0:51with you. Because to me, this is sacred.
- 0:54This time that I get to sit out here and just watch them digging
- 0:57around in the hay, watching them out in the garden.
- 1:01Some of them are in the run because I've been in here
- 1:03working, so they want to see what I've done.
- 1:05Some of them are out. There's birds flying everywhere
- 1:09besides them. And it's a spiritual moment for
- 1:13me. And what's so important about
- 1:16these spiritual moments is that it's, it's intrinsically part of
- 1:21humankind. If you go back to the very
- 1:24beginnings, there were always rituals, there were always
- 1:27mysticism, spirituality before religion, before all of it.
- 1:32We always, there's always some tie in some shape or form to
- 1:37this part of spirituality. And it's always been something
- 1:40that's been very fluid, very personal, and something that you
- 1:46can feel no matter what. This is the way I tap into it
- 1:50through nature. And it doesn't matter to me that
- 1:53these are domesticated birds or, you know, however you want to
- 1:57look at them. To me, it's just nature.
- 2:00The dogs, nature, the trees, nature, the air.
- 2:04It's just about getting ready to rain.
- 2:07It feels like it's going to rain.
- 2:09The clouds are coming in and it's very still and very, very
- 2:15sweet. The air smells sweet.
- 2:17And more importantly than all of it is taking the time to stop
- 2:21and pause and notice it. Because if you can tap in every
- 2:25day to that spiritual side of yourself, whatever you believe.
- 2:28And again, we're not talking about religion as much as we're
- 2:31talking about spirituality and knowing that there's something
- 2:34more than out there than just this.
- 2:39Now, some people don't choose to believe that some people have a
- 2:42very nihilistic way of thinking of the world.
- 2:44Well, that's OK. That if that's what's right for
- 2:47their soul, that's what's right for their soul.
- 2:50I happen to think, you know, something completely different.
- 2:53I am incredibly curious and Uber spiritual in that way and
- 2:59believe that, you know, it is magical.
- 3:03There are, there are so many things that are, I'm surrounded
- 3:06by every day here in the space of magical things happening.
- 3:10And I, the more I notice it, the more I tap into it, the better
- 3:15quality of life I have. And isn't this what this is all
- 3:17about? Creating the quality of life
- 3:19that you want by being able to tap into things.
- 3:22You know, as I sit here and I look up, there are a bunch of
- 3:25birds flying very, very high right now.
- 3:28And they happen to be, you know, so high, they look so small and
- 3:35they're vultures. And they're just up there
- 3:38looking, seeing if there are carcasses anywhere.
- 3:41And like, even that to me is so spiritual that they are always,
- 3:47they're the cleanup crew, their nature's cleanup crew.
- 3:50Just like, you know, you find squirrels.
- 3:52They're constantly cleaning things up.
- 3:53While they're a nuisance, they also clean things up.
- 3:57We can always find a way to grow our spirituality when we walk
- 4:01out into nature. And if you've not done it, I
- 4:05highly suggest that you try to tap into it that way and just
- 4:08pause. Look around, see what's there.
- 4:10See, see what's happening out in in your yard.
- 4:14Look around for all the small things that you would miss if
- 4:17you just walked on by. Like most of us drive into our
- 4:20yard and we get out of the car, we go in the house and we don't
- 4:23see what's happening around us. We don't notice all the little
- 4:26things. Today I found some gecko eggs
- 4:29that someone had laid in one of my pots.
- 4:32I have photographed and filmed the quints that are are
- 4:36blooming. I've been out here with the
- 4:39chickens watching them. I have a hen that's broody and
- 4:43she's about to want to sit on about, I don't know, 30 eggs in
- 4:47one nest. They all seem to lay in one nest
- 4:49today. So now she wants to sit on eggs.
- 4:51And it's all just part of nature.
- 4:54The, the blooms on the plum trees, The Jasmine is getting
- 4:59ready to, like, start to grow more of its leaves out.
- 5:02The jessamines blooming roses are starting to get their leaves
- 5:06to come out. The little violets are all
- 5:07popping. It's all so spiritual.
- 5:10And it's just a reminder that if you pause and you look, you'll
- 5:14see it. And you can tap into it.
- 5:16And it doesn't have to be big things like, you know, heading
- 5:20to church and doing all that. You can find it in a moment.
- 5:23And it's important to our well-being.
- 5:25So seek it out today and see if you can find it.
- 5:28Even if you're on your way to work, just stop, pause, and take
- 5:32a look at it. All right, my friends, I hope
- 5:34you find what you're looking for today and some real spirituality
- 5:37and I will see you tomorrow. Bye.
